We stopped in this restaurant looking for a place close to the sidewalk. Sidewalk Cafe is perfect, directly on the street, where artists sing and people walk. The food was good, I had the Salmon Benedict Egg and I was satisfied. The orange juice was not amazing, and the coffee ok. The service was good. We were satisfied.

This restraunt is located right on the Venice Beach walk. Outdoor covered dining where you can see beach, ocean and all the interesting people. Service was efficient and friendly. Menu has lots of variety...seafood, mecican, pasta, steaks, sandwiches. open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is good to very good. Recommended if you to stop, enjoy the sights and get decent food.

This is really the one breakfast option right on Venice Beach. Went there on MLK Day with family for breakfast. Great food and great people watching. Would definitely go back again.

Went here twice when in Venice Beach, just because it was convenient for my hotel. First visit was for dinner where I had their brisket sandwich which was really tasty (far better than I thought it may be when ordering) and a beer. Second visit was breakfast a few days later when I had a distinctly average omelette and service was pretty brusque I thought. Would go again but not for breakfast. Nice to sit looking at the beach.

Enjoyed our lunch under the canopy here. The staff was very friendly and the service was excellent. BTW, we were very happy with the food. We had fun making friends with a pigeon who was doing it's best to scavenge the floor of this dining area. It was a very nice place to be at. I will say that the street musician who set up on the sidewalk with the piano was over the top.

Don't get here often enough...like once every 7 or 8 years and always love just watching the world go by on Venice boardwalk. Got TV's for sports and great food . Had a huge breakfast. Then waddled out and pretty much destroyed all out plans for the day because the best thing of a day off is being able to go take a nap and sleep off the food coma. So good. Thanks!

This place can not be wrong, especially after a log walk along the beach. Good food and drinks, perfect view, nice music and good service. Have never been disappointed there.

Four of us had wings, chili burger and flatbread between us. General consensus was the food was mediocre but edible. As beach property food goes that’s probably what you can expect.

If you are at Venice Beach, you are probably people watching. This is the best place on the beach for doing that. Great restaurant. The location is great. The seating is great. The food was great. The cost was very reasonable considering the location and view. I have nothing bad to say about our visit. I recommend it and definitely try the apple pie!

The food was fresh and simple, there were lots of choices on the menu. You can sit right next to the walkway and enjoy the ocean breeze. You can't see the ocean because it's right in front of the skatepark. But a good location to people watch. They also have a good selection of drinks and desserts.

Food was great, large portions for the price. They also have gluten free options which was great for me. Cool atmosphere to eat at.

Had a delicious brunch and a mimosa! It has a excellent location to people watch and take in all that Venice Beach has to offer!

My husband and I had a great meal here and enjoyed people-watching; we even saw a celebrity taping a movie! The one and only drawback was we were told it was too early for fish tacos, and then we saw other customers who ordered at about the same time receive them. But what we did get was great.

Popped in for a food break on our walk and it was well worth it! Great location and great food. Gave a 4 star basis as the toilets were a bit of a mess and our wasn’t the most chatty person but service was still good

long wait to seat. long wait at table. We were group of 8 adults...some were not offered drinks!? food brought out a few at a time. Heavy beach traffic using the restroom causing some hygiene issues in restroom areas. dingy and dated. I will say that non of us experienced issues with the food so thumbs up to the chef! Other patrons were observed leaving when the wait at the table was too long.

Always busy, appeared to be popular so went for lunch. Had the cheeseburger and a pizza, burger was average and fries were cold but pizza was nice. Some of our cutlery wasn’t cleaned properly and still had food on it! Had to walk through a crowded noisy bar to get to the restroom which is not good for children.

Went down to the Venice boardwalk last week and I hadn't been there in a while so I was enjoying the day when it got time for lunch. We checked out several place before we decided on the Sidewalk Cafe. I was a good choice. The menu is large and the prices were good considering the area. I had the combo Fajitas and the other people had hamburgers. All of us (4) enjoyed our food and the draft beer was very cold and refreshing on the hot day. They have a little of everything on the menu including a childrens section.

Very nice staff and decent food. We had burgers, pulled pork and salad and the quality was good. Prices are very OK for such a touristic location

The food is delicious and the people are very friendly. It is near the seaside and have an amazing view

We had great service but the food was very average. Cool vibe on the beach! Nachos were good & drinks were good but other than that i wouldn’t order much else. We were sadly dissappointed. We wanted amazing and it just wasn’t. We ate here 6 years ago & I just remember from that visit that i wanted to go back. Not feeling that way now. Also it is NOT cheap/inexpensive.

I had the burrito, tastes Ok, table next to me had nachos and they looked great. Prices were fine for the area but the location is too! Waiters and waitresses are super nice too which means an all round great experience.

We had a great time last week enjoying a great sunset, a couple of beers, a Margarita, as appetizers. For meal my wife had a chicken salad, I had a good clam chowder and we shared fried shrimps. We enjoyed the weather, felt secure with Covid-19 politics of the restaurant and watched people passing by the beach walk. The price was fair, the waitress was kind. They would improve a lot if they take care of meal presentation. It is recommendable.

Fast and friendly service. The Andy Warhol is darn delicious! It’s a large dish so expect leftovers or have someone to share it with you. It was crowded when we got there, but a take was made ready for us in less than 3 minutes.

Terrible waiter called Shiggy. He was so rude. I went for takeaway but by the time he gave me my food I had lost my appetite and gave the food to a homeless on the way home. Really aggressive

The sidewalk café never seems to fail with good food, good service and a view of all of the craziness that the Venice Beach culture has to offer. The café sits on the beach which overlooks a lot of unusual color including the gentleman that brings his grand piano to the beach each day to play your favorite request. Sidewalk café is offering cannabis infused liquors

We headed here as our 17 year old wanted to experience the skate park at Venice beach, so we just sat here for a few hours and watched the world pass us by. Perfect service, nothing rushed, we had a few cool beers and some snack food that was amazing. Great spot, and perfect for a bit of people watching right on the Venice boardwalk.

Stopped here around lunch time and ordered a pasta with chicken, vegetables like spinach and tomatoes. Good location and service

My friend and I went in to the Sidewalk Cafe at 6:30 PM on the 14th of March and sat at the bar. and sat and sat and sat. 15 minutes with no acknowledgement or hint of service, so we left. I can't rate the food because I didn't get any. I can't rate the drinks because I din't get any. Terrible service. Even as we left, neither of the two employees at the door acknowledged our existence. Would not recommend this place for my dog to drink water. Dreadful!

Food wasn’t good. Their Huevos Rancheros is a disaster and their burger (aside from the bun) wasn’t good either. It’s a good option for the kids though (still expensive for what it is) and service was subpar. They were very busy though.

Really delicious food, prices are fair, very big portions (especially the coffees are huge), u can see the skatepark from the tables and the team was very nice - thank u 😊

May be the only decent stop for food when walking from Santa Monica. We were surprised by the food. It is always busy

We were peckish after walking all along the boardwalk and thought this looked like the perfect place for food and people watching. And we were right. We had a chorizo omelette and a breakfast wrap both served with delicious home fries. It was the perfect late breakfast/early lunch. Lots of flies though which was a little annoying.

Fantastic location for people watching! Good food and excellent service from Rachel! Recommend the chilli omelette!

The Location of this restaurant makes for a big pro, since its well maintained and located right at the beach. The food is good & staff is helpful.

For me Venice beach was once of those places you have to visit and want to visit but was a little underwhelmed by it all. We needed breakfast so came across this busy place which had open shutters looking across the beach. We ordered the burrito's and it arrived quickly with some potatoes on the side. Whilst in there, we experienced one of the customers being racially abused by some guy and the staff acted swiftly to remove him. To the guy who was being abused's credit, he handled himself impeccably but no one should have to experience that. This place has character and a certain charm and food is ok.

I came by the last 3 days after checking out some other places. Great, friendly feel with fantastic staff. Seems to pull locals in, which speaks volumes about a little gem. People are genuine here. The food is worth trying too! Had the spicy chicken sandwich and nachos, delicious! Happy hour offers great deals and you can choose to sit on the patio/sidewalk or in the bar to watch your favourite sports events on enough TVs. They even put on a Winnipeg Jets hockey game on TV. Great sports bar too.

My friend and I had dinner by the Ocean Walknof Venice Beacha na ended up at The Sidewalk Cafe and Bar. We lined up by the hosted stand for about 15min, so that us got irritated I told he first place. The server took a lot of time to notice us in the table (second irritable moment). When served water, there was no ice (third). Their Shocktop on draft was watered down (fourth). And the food wasn't that good at all. I was over-all disappointed with the service in this bar.

Visiting Venice Beach and wanted to have dinner. There were 4 of us and we all had different food. We sat outside and the ocean breezes were nice and we could people watch. Food was good, I had the fried shrimp and coleslaw. Our service was OK. Our waitress seemed a little out of it and didn't do a great job taking our order. She had to come back several times. And then after we got our food she disappeared. We had to flag down another waiter so that we could get our check. It seemed like other staff were attentive but our service was not good. I would consider going there again and just hope the wait staff was better.

It was neat sitting on the patio with the beach right there. Dinner and a show for sure, given the interesting people of LA. Waitress was friendly and helpful with deciding what to drink. She even helped direct us to places to check out in town during our visit. food was hot and cooked well. Bathrooms needed some attention for sure.

We were there on a Sunday for lunch and only had a 10 minute wait for a window table. Seating is outdoors under a roof so is pet friendly. You can sit and people watch while you eat. Which is the main reason most even visit Venice beach. Husband ordered a burger and was “ok”. Better than a fast food place. I had a pastrami Sandwich. Grilled with cheese and tomatoes. Was actually good. (Without their sauce). French fries were just shoe string fries. Prices were close to $15 person. Had a piano player right outside. Was ok. But after playing he walks up to you eating asking for tips. Mixed feelings. I know that’s how he makes a living, and we are “trapped” inside the wall unable to walk up to him to tip.... but was awkward to interrupt our meal for a handout. Wasn’t “amazing” but good enough I would have lunch there again.

Rude as heck bartender. I used to be a regular there until something happened on July 23, 2022 Terrible customer service and attitude with Rodney, (a white guy, maybe in his 40's, 5"9), I don't know how an employee can get away with cussing at customers. I was just trying to make small talk and say that after today I will go back to 0.0 for another 2 weeks. I thought he would say, cool no problem with a few drinks sometimes. But it didn't go that way, He right away assumed that I was going to have a lot of drinks there. Rodney right away got angry and defensive. he then continued to yell "no you will stop when I F++ckin cut your ass off. Are we fu*kin clear?" I tried to keep my composure and say ok, however, Rodney kept yelling, "Are we fu*kin clear?" "Are we fu*kin clear?" over and over again. His tone was loud, angry, and rude. Like a crazy person. Rodney is a loose cannon. However, Little did he know, my plan was to have that one and leave. Rodney right away got loud and dropped the F-bomb more than a dozen times, totally unprofessional. I tried to calmly try to explain that he misunderstood where I was going with the conversation, but he would not calm down his temper to understand. Also, please wear note: I didn't use profanity at all.

This is a very busy, large restaurant right on Venice Beach Boardwalk. It's a good place to stop for lunch due to the large range of choices on the menu. There is definitely something for everyone here. There is covered, open air dining in the front of the store. The back portion is inside seating and a sports bar. I say sports bar because it is full of tv's showing every type of sport. I don't know if they would call themselves a sports bar. It's extremely casual with a beachfront, boardwalk vibe. My only complaint was that we sat there for an extremely long time before a server came over. But once our order was in, it was good. Food was very tasty. If I'm ever walking the Venice Beach Boardwalk again, I would probably go here knowing that the menu is so varied and there is something for every taste.

We ate breakfast there every day. Good food, and very attentive waiters. Pretty good selections for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Wonderful feeling the ocean breeze and relax.

Just walked into the Sidewalk and had a decent lunch.. I guess it’s busy 24/7 due to location.. We were given a table by the window which was nice so we could see the weird and wonderful do there thing ! Considering the size on the restaurant service was excellent as was our tacos and burritos. Menu is extensive so there is something for everyone. They also have a good beer selection .. Sidewalk Cafe.. a good spot to rest up from the mayhem outside.. Enjoy !

Large-ish menu, though little more than standard fare of burgers, sandwiches, breakfast etc. We had the Reuben and Thesaurus (BLT with avocado) sandwiches which were fine. Ended up freezing cold sat in the shade!

We had a good time in this place. We had dinner and enjoyed it. My wife reaaly liked the salmon. A good place to stop and eat. The food was good and the price also. It has got a view of the beach which its nice. It was busy but the service was fast. Nice place.

Went on first evening as it was too late to explore. Staff friendly enough but food was bland and not really up to it. As for the clientele then lets say you wouldnt take em home to meet your mother. my wife was scares whitless and my little girl kept saying "weierdos". Heard they do nice breakfasts though

I was at the restaurant for a quick lunch. After I was ushered in my seat, I had no one to even ask me if I needed water for the 1st 5 minutes. I then asked the lady who will be serving me to which she said she was unsure. I called a couple of them and they replied that were not responsible for my table. Finally we had one server who took our order but pointed at someone else that he was looking after us. The food was ok but I deliberately decided not to Leave a tip due to bad customer service. Wouldn't be going back here.

This is my 3rd or 4th time going to this restaurant. It's at a great location where you can people watch the people strolling down the sidewalk on Venice Beach. Food is decent, and the price isn't a killer. Definitely worth stopping here for lunch or dinner and a beer.

If you are looking for great food prompt friendly service at a reasonable price while you are indoors watching sports or people watching under a covered patio on the boardwalk, this is the place you are looking for! Hamburgers, Tacos, Eggs Benedict, Hawaiian, English. They have a bit of everything … food and boardwalk entertainment. When you get done there is also a small private bookstore.

The Sidewalk Cafe is the perfect start to the day with a healthy portion serving for breakfast and an endless cup of coffee. Stroll the Venice Beach Boardwalk and then be sure to enjoy the hospitality and service at this iconic beachside restaurant. You won't be disspointed.

The service was outstanding. Food was great, and I loved my Bloody Mary! Loved being able to sit outside in huge outdoor seating, with good shade, to relax and people watch. The prices on the menu were the best in LA area.

Not my first choice, but we needed a restaurant that opened early and had a good choice of breakfast items. Friendly service, standard dishes. Dirty cutlery. We changed the cutlery three times, and each time: food leftovers on a different part. My goodness, clean cutlery is a minimum requirement. All in all at best average. Because of its location directly at the Boardwalk it is perfect for people watching. Very early in the morning, this is mainly a look at homeless people.

This seems the best place to eat along the sea front. The service was fine and the food was nice. There is a decent choice of food. If you can get a table near the front, it can be an interesting watch of Venice life.

Not sure why I decided to come here - the location and appearance should have been warning signs. Food experience and service were ok, but with a massive room for improvement. At least I got to experience an Eggs Benedict - Cheese Melt edition (see picture) about which I am still in a bit of shock. There are better places along the boardwalk for sure.

Came for a quick bite as it was right on the boardwalk the cheeseburger was juicy and flavorful we were seated outside where we could see tons of people walking around

When in town I must have breakfast here. The food is good and the experience is worth any wait. The service is very professional. Two waiters in particular are outstanding and have been there for years. But the best part is the people watching. Especially if you are lucky enough for a table overlooking the Boardwalk. Who needs television. I love the Huevos Rancheros and Bloody Marys. Despite it's location it is not a tourist trap.

Perfect place to grab a bite to eat along Venice beach. Very quick service, good portion sizes and well priced. The service was also great, our waitress was very friendly! Food tasted great can't fault it at all :)

Got a table for 4 adults. 2 kids 1-2 year not allowed to sitt on our laps. Total 6 people So no place:(

I agree this is the best spot to people watch (and sunset!) in Venice Beach! Fish tacos, burgers and margaritas were great! Will definitely be back. I came with my son who just graduated basic training. He loves his burgers and he said there’s is really good!!! Also, I can say the server was attentive and pleasant.

Never fails to please. This is a great place for people watching at Venice Beach. It is lively, has a big selection of food favorites and serves Hanger 24 Betty IPA - what more could you ask for? The service is friendly and very efficient. It offers free wifi and the food is reasonably priced. I always have the Cobb salad as the healthy choice, nevertheless it is a huge meal.

The side walks bar, hidden out the back. A little hidden treasure, off the beaten track. So i step into the bar, as its been a long week. then settle at the bar, bit o banter tongue and cheek. The beer is always served, in an iced cold glass. i owed it to myself bruv, be a crime to just walk past.

We popped in here for a snack and left with doggy bags as we couldn't finish it all! Good location on the waterfront and very extensive menu so you are bound to find something you fancy.

Rude, unprofessional service by 2 of their bartenders who made lame excuses when they didn't do what they said they would, a simple thing like changing the tv channel. The 1st one was older, somewhat homely chubby female (not the younger, cuter chubby one) who SAID SHE WOULD turn channel, 15 min. goes by and nothing, ask a second guy Gavin who said he would, again nothing. Then ask a 3rd guy who said would look into it. They both had lames excuses, 1st one had to ck. with mgr. (really, for that?) but never did, 2nd said someone could be watching existing channel, when we already established thru 1st one that they were not, I ask 2 people that could see and one didn't care then left and other didn't care, PLUS it was already on another tv! They just made excuses for being lazy and/or incompetent and were rude. I guess if I was stuck in a low level, low paying food service job (yes bartenders included) I would be bitter and angry too!

We liked the food here and service was good. Lots of options on the menu for everyone. The staff was accommodating to us and our baby.

I really enjoyed a brunch here during a short stay in the area. While there are nicer places in the area, with more select menus, this a big rustic almost theatrical kind of old establishment which I loved. It has character, and lots of it. It was more Hispanic food and I had one of the local meals and good coffee, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Its a great spot for people watching as its right on the beach walk. There is a bar inside. Old pub style. The servers were all over it. No fuss, no drama, delivered all in good time. If you’re visiting and want a Venice Beach experience, it’s a good choice.

We hit this place for breakfast on the boardwalk. Breakfast was yummy and I had a great beer from Chihuahua Brewing. The singer on the boardwalk was great and I loved the atmosphere. My only complaint and reason for not giving it 5 stars was that I wanted to watch college football and there are no TV's in the dining area. Having two teens with me, we weren't allowed in the bar area, which I understand but then please give us just a few TV's in the dining area even if the sound is turned down. Otherwise, I totally enjoyed it!

Walking up from Marina Del Rey we began to despair of ever enjoying a sit down lunch overlooking the beach. Then we saw this restaurant with a couple of open tables and snagged one. And we were ever so glad we did. A quick glance around the place told us everything that we needed to know about ordering. Salad with 'homemade' ranch dressing...check. Arnold Palmer...check. Do you want a smoothy or a shake...tropical smoothy...good choice! And should we have a burger or a BLT...BLT w/avocado...sounds great! Everything was delicious...the tropical smoothy packed with fresh fruit particularly so. (And the burgers that we saw others had ordered looked amazing as well). Our only complaint was that the shoestring fries were a bit cold...but it isn't as if we expected this place to make them to order. The atmosphere is a 70s diner on Venice Beach - very casual with lots of wood, lots of old stuff, lots of open air 'windows'. And the service was good...even exemplary until the time came to get and then pay for our check.

Nice spot to get breakfast when you are visiting the area. Nice open air place with great views of the boardwalk and the beach while you eat! Not expensive for the area but you will pay more around here then in other neighbourhoods for breakfast I would think- is only to be expected. We had the breakfast burrito and the eggs with chorizo - really good food and service.

I love this place. Always busy but the staff seem to handle it fine. Perfect location to watch the boardwalk life and the sunset. Wide choice of US / Mexican food, Choice of restaurant seating by the boardwalk, or a vibrant sports bar atmosphere inside.

We were just looking for a decent place to take a break from walking down the promenade in Venice Beach. What we got was a very good soup and sandwich as well as an omelette. The building is interesting, the service was quick, and prices were decent for LA. Can still people watch while you eat.

Came here because we happen to be on the beach while on vacation with family and friends. We ordered the guacamole and chips which was passable. We also ordered the cypress flatbread which though tasty had too much olive oil which kind of took away from it. The final order was the coffee which unfortunately was bitter and just terrible to send back. Sorry to say we will never come back. The ambiance is loud and good for kids. Music plays in background continuously at a rather LOUD tone.

Its great to get a window seat here and watch people go by as you breathe in the fresh ocean air. I would definitely book a table if its possible. Otherwise you will be lining up.We ordered Fish & Chips and a Chicken Wrap. Great service and friendly. The fish was cooked perfect and the chips nice and crispy. The chicken wrap was huge and probably enough for 2 people. Overall good value.

Kind of an extended pub. Food not really a killer but ok. 9 USD a bit too pricey for some fries - which however tasted good. Friendly stuff. Inside has multiple screens showing sport events. Ok but not a ‘must visit’ place.

Always busy, waited in line for 20 minutes. Food and service is mediocre at best. Very typical for these type of tourist establishments. Had Pastrami, very greasy, fries so. On expensive side because of location and tourist area. Would not return. If going, try to get table on sidewalk side for people watching.

Great lunch, quick service, tasty food, good location, clean bathrooms. I had a chicken wrap and it was delicious.

We spotted this Cafe from the bike path as we were riding along. They were really busy, but we were seated right away. The service and food were good, but prices were too high for what you get. There was a guitar street player across the street that played wonderful music for everyone to enjoy. We gave him a nice tip for his entertainment, but noticed very few people did even though they enjoyed it according to their applause between songs.

Great location although on this day it was cool and overcast. Patio is heated so it was ok. I had clam chowder, which I do not recommend. Too much bacon for me and the clams were very chewy. Wife had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw which she loved. Our waiter was very good, polite and attentive. We will be back.

Good food, good variety, clean and nice location. Good place to people watch. Cocktails are nice. Lively and energetic place

We made the Sidewalk Cafe our first stop on the Venice Beach portion of our vacation. Breakfast/Brunch was a must-do before walking the boardwalk and running in the sand. Being Houstonians, we had dressed for a day at the beach so tank tops and mesh tops all around, not knowing what an LA breeze was like. We sat on the patio facing the boardwalk, so the open windows and doors brought that Pacific breeze all across our bodies, sending us running to the boardwalk vendors for hoodies as soon as we were done eating. (This is info for other non-LA visitors and had no bearing on Sidewalk Cafe.) It was omelets, pancakes and other brunch foods all around, and everyone was satisfied. Two folks did order shrimp baskets, and were not too pleased with the overly breaded shrimp with little actual shrimp inside. Coming from the Gulf Coast, we have our expectations for shrimp. Come on now! Overall, we were satisfied and would recommend this joint for anyone passing through on their way to the beach.

Located just off the Venice Beach Boardwalk, looking out to the beach, the location is just about perfect. And good food to boot.

Very good menu, very good food, very good service and an awesome view of Venice Beach this was our favorite restaurant that we ate at and we wouldn't have expected that.

Went for lunch and ordered pizza and a fried egg BLT My wife had two bites of the BLT and felt something “funny” in her mouth. She pulled it out and found a fingernail !!! The waitress was very apologetic and brought the manager over whom stated that none of his staff had long nails like that. My wife showed him her nails (they are all short for years) whereupon he apologised and asked if we wanted to order something else. Clearly a “no” was the reply. He then stated that we would not have to pay for anything so at least free drinks which we however decided to leave on the table and departed immediately.

we grabbed sandwiches and beer. Service was fast and friendly. Tables are close to each other. Fun view if you can get a table on the boardwalk.

So we took 2 salads and drunk a beer, also 1 onion rings. 49$ in total. So in US we tip..as much as we want based on how pleased we are. We weren't pleased at all with the quality, price or service and waited 20 mins for the receive. James asked for 56$ because as he said in US we tip. I will tip, but you won't ask for it sir. He refused to get the first suggested tip 15% and give me 6$ back and gave me 4 and said 18% is what we do. 👌 well played sir. It's an 1 star and next time if you want tips be polite and do your job with a smile on your face.

The menu is huge and everyone will find something for their tastebuds for sure. We had the breakfast burrito and it was a huge portion. The taste was kind of average but not bad in any way. I would also say that the place is clean and has a good view with the tables closest to the windows.

The chicken sandwich was good but the bun could not handle the sogginess of the condiment the french fries were not crispy but the club sandwich was good I would suggest to use another type of bun.

Walking the boardwalk, stopped in, blown away. Great breakfast burrito and Venetian pasta. Superb service and curbside show. Winner!

I arrived to late to eat but what an excellent and welcoming bar. Coffee Stout beer was to die for. Music just great, funky and uplifting. And a lovely atmosphere too. Would go time and time again

Love this place! Great food, service and best prices in Venice. Have been there many times, always happy. They have a nice bar too. Just pretend you are a Lakers fan!

The food was good and even though it was busy, we got our food pretty quickly. I was a little taken aback, however, that our server seemed bothered when I asked about the gluten free food. I have celiac and have no choice but to eat that way. Please treat your dietary needs customers with more kindness.

I was sooo impressed with this cafe!! It's really cute and has patio dining along with dining within. You cannot see the ocean from here, but, it is on the boardwalk. It's a fun place to people watch. The smells are amazing. We ordered fajitas and they were very authentic and delicious!! Service was busy but efficient! They have many tv's inside. Great place to hang out!

We had just arrived in Venice from Australia and went here for breakfast as it was a short walk from our hotel. The food a service were terrible! I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.

This is in the heart of the main walk on Venice beach close to muscle beach and basketball courts. Sit in the shade enjoy a hearty brunch or whatever you fancy the menu is varied and offers a great choice for all culinary delights. I like to sit here and listen and watch the side showed on Venice and watch the waves of people walk by.... the service has always been good and the quality of food always very high. A must for anyone visiting this area as it’s located in a great spot on Venice beach...

Brunch for 3. Tacos and eggs benedict. Seemed a bit strict on the timed cut off for menu options but we had good food and great choice of beers. Excellent service too considering how fussy one of my lot was. Recommend this place to eat although Venice Beach area is not so great.

Meals on the Venice Beach Family Ride Reception and rapid placement Map with choice and for everyone Reasonable Award for Los Angeles Waitresses and waiters at the top with us and with the child who accompanied us! I recommend

Wow - this place was packed! The servers were running around at a dizzying speed, trying to accommodate everyone, but even then there was a long wait. The food is....bland to say the least. I can’t see why anyone would go here, except of of necessity- we were starving, and it was the only place that looked remotely edible within walking distance. Good for people watching , but that’s about it.

I have waited 45 minutes for a hamburger because the waitress at the bar did not register my order when I told her the first time. At least apologizes would have been appreciated but she didn't care. The hamburger was below average and the fries were unfrozen. I would not recommend this place.

Breakfast May 22, 2022. Ordered two eggs and Canadian bacon. Husband had John Denver Omelette. My eggs were cooked exactly as I ordered them. The breakfast potatoes were very good. We were pleased with the service. We have eaten here previously and enjoyed it last time as well. The view is great for people watching.

We walked to Venice Beach from Santa Monica and were looking for a place to sit down to have a bite to eat. This place hit the spot! The menu was extensive and there was something for everyone. The food was quite good and the portions were large. Service was great. Manager stopped by to say hello and chat about our visit. Great spot right on the beach and yummy cocktails too!

This restaurant was the only one on Venice Beach boardwalk that we saw. We were sitted immediately at a table right at the front! Great ocean view, people watching & a piano man across the way… it was a total Venice vibe!! Service was great. We ordered beer & pizza & enjoyed it! Will return!!

The restaurant overlooks the promenade of Venice beach with exposed tables. Staff smiling and helpful. Good food. A little expensive but, now, it's everywhere so...

A great place to meet, have that pause for a snack, food och drinks. You are in the middle of the fantastic and crazy Venice boardwalk. Generous servings and what you expect from a beach restaurant. Nothing to die for but great food and drinks if you're not there for an extra ordinary food experience. 3,5 I would say.

It was packed when we got there so we opted to sit at the bar. In spite of the crowd it only took us 5 minutes to get our food. Enjoyed our food.

We came here for breakfast this past weekend. We have eaten here a few times before in our visits to LA, and it never disappoints. Just observing the people that walk by is worth the price of food. haha We were seated right away, and started off with a couple of cups of coffee and orange juice. I had the Will Rogers omelet with avocado which was delicious. It had vegetables and cheese inside with their potatoes on the side. My wife had the Eggs Benedict and potatoes on the side. She really liked them. Our son ate his pancake with bacon on the side. Service was very efficient, and our server was always friendly. The patio was not as busy as it usually is, which was nice. The inside sports bar is a great place to eat and watch games.

Awful experience. Avoid. Staff rude and unprofessional. Especially the staff that seat you to the point of argumentative. Should have left at that point. Food took ages to arrive and very average. Then Couldn’t pay our check as our server had disappeared.

great place to grab a cold beer and do some people watching. service was good, staff friendly and beer was cold, view fantastic.

Decent drinks. Could have been larger for the price. Guacamole was really bland, but the chips we're good as was the salsa. Wait for a table by the sidewalk. Fun place to watch people.

Sunday afternoon football. Cozy place with lots of menu choices. Friendly servers and lots of Rams fans cheering on their team. And then outside you can see all freaky people of Venice beach. They seem to have the homeless problem under control.

Very poor service. I wanted a table for 1 and was told all tables are for 2 or more people!! When I questioned this the guy just walked off and never came back.

Sidewalk Cafe is conveniently placed next to Venice Beach Boardwalk. We were sat on the verandah section overlooking the beach. Nicely prepared food and friendly service, and good value.

Sidewalk Cafe was not only a great restaurant with delicious food, but the view was one of a kind. You got to not only experience a delicious meal, but you got to take in the the sights of Venice Beach!!

What a perfect place to have lunch. Both the location and service were great! I ordered the Tilapia and it was pretty good, the wraps were huge, and my boys said the pizza and burgers were delicious!

Stopped in here after a long day at the pier and Venice! Service was amazing and quick even though they were super busy on a Sunday night! Everything we ordered was delicious and cocktails were on point!

Good food here, a nice selection of different types. Big portions at a good price too. Staff were nice and helpful. Nice to sit in the sun overlooking the beach. A gem amist the dross along Venice Beach.

This is a nice place to come with friends for a beer and a good meal. Just be careful with the sun though, it may get really hot, especially if you're sitting by the window. It is reasonably priced, considering its location.

Restaurant on the promenade of Venice facing the beach. Cozy and relaxed Mood. Great service and good food. We ordered two dishes of pasta, one with chicken and another with almonds, both were delicious and very well served. It's a really nice place to have lunch, have a snack and enjoy the view... the public on the sidewalk... the street artists.

If you're staying anywhere near the boardwalk you gotta give the Cafe a try. I'd recommend breakfast above all. Stayed at the Venice Beach Suites and Hotel, Cafe was about a 2 minute walk from our door. Never had to wait for a table, staff does a great job turning it over, and tried all three meals in some capacity during the trip. Breakfast was the highlight; definitely get the Belgian Waffles, huge helping. Dinner was solid as well, and no complaints about lunch. Make sure to read the menu, not everything is free refills on the drink side, but all the portions are generous, and everything is pretty reasonably priced. seating is outside, so you get a good view of the beach. negatives - kind of cramped. tables are tight so be mindful. can't avoid the street musicians...or the "green doctor" smell depending on the time of day. can't really have a private conversation with how close everything is, would recommend asking to avoid sitting near children - the staff understands

OK, I suppose we should have checked Trip Advisor if we really needed to know where to eat. As it happened though, Anthony, who was leading our bike tour took the two of us here, introduced us to the lovely Talya, asked her to look after us and she took him at his word and did so magnificently. The food is great, not spectacular as this isn't a fine dining experience. It's an invaluable opportunity to eat good American food whilst sitting comfortably and watching life's rich variety floating past on Venice Beach. It's a first rate experience, we loved it.

We left. They sat us and never came to take our order. The waiter was very intent on placing us in what I assume was his section- but it was off on its own no where near the other patrons.

We were just passing and went in for lunch and a drink and it was fine. Service was friendly and helpful and the mussels were the tastiest I’ve had in a long time - my husband also enjoyed his clam chowder (particularly as it wasn’t too large). We therefore went back at dinnertime the next day and I had clams (less tasty than the mussels) and my husband had what he described as an excellent cheese-burger. Certainly worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Food was reasonable at best, partly cold. Appetizers and entrees served at once makes it a rush dinner where restaurant was gar from full.

Love sitting along the beach and People Watching and this is a go to if you wanna see Venice Beach Boardwalk and enjoy good food and a very reasonable price for Beachside. I have been coming for years and the service is always nice and amicable....little slow on sundays but then again its always vacation there ...

The service was good even if it is full. We ordered burgers and french fries, onions rings. They have a lot of food. We really enjoyed it and the prices were not bad at all.

I enjoyed my meal at the sidewalk Cafe. It had good atmosphere. The fish and Chips were delicious! The staff was great.

This cafe is right on Venice Beach Boardwalk. We had pizza for lunch which was very good and also breakfast, equally as good. Unfortunately, you your view is overpowered by the homeless although I must admit the Boardwalk Pianist was exceptional. Better choice than Larry's if you are ordering food.

The pitcher of ritas filled 6 glasses, regular hiball size, the nachos were ample and tasty, the reuban was ok not great or bad, a bit different the TI came on the side, the meat tasted smokey, not bad just different. Service was very good.

It’s a tricky combination getting good food and a good view without paying a bomb. Well, this place pulls it off. There’s a passing parade of crazy but the food is fresh and well priced. There’s a large menu and good service. Try the chilli!

Tasty food, good location in the heart of Venice Beach, fast service, kind and patient staff (we didn't have cash with us or a physical card, and you can't pay contactless at the location, but we had the option to scan a barcode and pay the bill online).

Not recommended! Prices are excessive and the food is inedible! Would not visit this restaurant again!!!!! Drinks are served in plastic cups and Coke smells of chlorine.

The food here was amazing. Add to that the beautiful weather, perfect view and great staff, you can't get much better.

We went here on a recommendation looking for a good breakfast spot. I was super excited to try it and the eight page menu looked awesome!! Sadly, the view/location was the best part of The Sidewalk Cafe. Our server was pleasant, but just average. Not exceptional, not horrible, just there. We had eggs Benedict and a ham and cheese omelet. The Benedict was ok. The toast was a little dry but the holindase was flavorful. I appreciated it came with a mimmosa and the mimmosa was at least good The omelet wasn't what I was expecting. I had a ham and cheese. Normally I would expect it like a burrito style with the ingredients inside, but it was eggs and ham cooked flat (as if on a griddle) on top on liquid American cheese. They just put liquid cheese on the plate and the eggs and ham on top. Very strange. The breakfast potatoes were also undercooked. If I came here again, I would not order breakfast food.

The food was cooked fresh a generous portion and looked as good as it tasted. Although we all chose different dishes it came to the table at the same time. The server was very friendly and were laughing and joking with her a lovely person the place was packed and you could look out to the sea. I would highly recommend the café to anybody.

If you can get a table on the patio, it's worth it. Easily the best people watching while eating/drinking on the Boardwalk. The food isn't the best but it is not bad, I'd order the Pizza, Wings, or a Sandwich - Breakfast is good also. Inside, there is a sports bar - the bar is super fun during the day, not so much at night. Great place to watch all types of sports.

Used this place twice for snacks and bar...Always busy, cool vibes, good bears and decent sandwiches..

The sidewalk cafe has been around forever. You can order lunch, sit on the sidewalk (it's enclosed and part of the restaurant), order a cocktail and watch the crazy, eclectic world of Venice Beach.

Had such a great time for breakfast! Ambiance was amazing and staff were very accommodating. Enjoyed the açaí bowl, Belgian waffle and huevos ranchero... delish!

If you need place to eat in Venice Beach, come here. It does not look like much from the sidewalk, but the service and food are great and the prices are reasonable.

Stopped in here for lunch after a nice walk along the Venice Beach boardwalk. An ideal spot to stop for a decent meal and watch the people walking by. Food was pretty good; fish tacos were very good. Service was great and it's an ideal place to chill for a bit.

Good service, but nothing special about the food. It is the location on the Beach Boardwalk that is the best thing with this place. If it was located in somewhere else, it would hardly succeed.

We are So-Cal locals and brought some friends visiting from Canada to the beach. It was cold and windy so we decided to stop for a drink and a snack as the restaurant had a plastic barrier up to protect customers from the elements. We sat next to one of the plastic windows so we could still get the "Venice Beach" vibe. It's dry January so two of us ordered the zero alcohol Heinekens (thanks for having them on the menu) and the other two, 2 glasses of chardonnay. I was very happy to see a nice "full" glass of wine as usually these tourist generated restaurants are light on their pours. It was a nice house chardonnay which we both enjoyed. We ordered a plate of Chicken Nachos that were delicious and easily fed all 4 of us. They were the best nachos I had ever had and the rest of the table agreed! They were loaded and the chicken was a pulled style and super tender. Erin was our waitress and she took excellent care of us! I commented to Erin that it was so nice to be able to come to such a touristy spot and have a positive experience with good food and service. I live here so I can tell you how many times that we have taken out of towners to a tourist spot just to feel ripped off. I believe it's super important for restaurants like these to cater to the locals. Great job Sidewalk Cafe!

We had breakfast at a table facing the beach. It was a great location to people watch. I had the Georgia O’Keefe omelette — delicious!

The location is brilliant, great drinks and nice food. The staff were friendly. Piña colada was definitely worth trying!

Great place to people watch and enjoy the beautiful sunset and views. Can tend to be packed but staff are always happy to accomodate. Excellent burgers and honestly the best buffalo cauliflower bites I’ve had! Enormous portions, fast service and meals are affordable.

If you want to experience the real Venice Beach atmosphere, The Sidewalk Café is the perfect place. Here you can sit back and enjoy a meal while watching the charming and quirky types that fill the pavement and the beach. While we were there we saw a windsurfer on a bike path, skaters, people walking dogs in strollers, ladies in next to nothing on roller skates, a piano player on wheels, people on go-karts/minicrossers, and a man having a serious conversation with a mannequin . It was a live theater performance right in front of the cafe! 😊 - Excellent Service We experienced excellent service from a young lady with short hair, whose name we unfortunately did not get. She joked, told about the beach and was really welcoming. A real nugget for tourists. 🍔 - Food quality The food is not gourmet, but the price is also accordingly. We each ordered a burger with fries and it was quite good and filling. No nice sensations, but solid café food. ⚡ - Fast Operation The food came quickly and we got a table straight away which was a nice surprise. 🚗 - Parking Parking can be a challenge, but there are options in the area if you are willing to look a little. All in all, our visit to The Sidewalk Café was a wonderful experience full of Venice Beach's unique charm. Excellent service, excellent food and a great atmosphere - we will definitely be back!

I visited a few times in Oct 19. During the day the family sat in the cafe and had coffee and pancakes, watching the world go by. Venice is such a cool place and this is great to people watch. The staff here were really friendly and helpful. Menu was varied and food was good quality. I also visited twice in the evenings for a beer. Got to sit at the bar and watch sports. Lots of beer choices and they had a happy hour also. I visited on Halloween and everyone was carving pumpkins which I thought was really different and fu.

If you want try a real american breakfast seating very very close to the beach, looking the cool people in Venice, this is your place. Great choice of eggs, very well cooked and presented. Coffee and orange juice are the right drinks to complete your breakfast. Personeel is very kind and professional

My wife and I ate here after wondering the Venice boardwalk - like most tourists. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Attentive and prompt. It was overly busy, so I guess that helped, but they we had no complaints. Meals came out quickly. They were both great. My wife is small and he meal was massive and I install told the waitress she’d need a doggy bag. But it must have been nice, because she ate the whole thing in the restaurant. The bill came without asking which was also a nice touch. It meant no waiting around. I’d go back.

We had a light lunch in the middle of our walk from Santa Monica Pier. My wife had the Andy Warhol salad which was fine. I had the clam chowder which was excellent and we split some Cajun fries. Service was very good. The building was nice inside and we had a window seat with a nice view along the boardwalk. Didn't look to be a lot of other good options around.

Food was not so great. I had the caprese chicken and the chicken has very little taste, but the cheese, basil and balsamic helped. The fries were tasteless too. My husband's omlet was OK. The hash browns wern't very good. The wait staff was good. The best thing is that you can see all the crazies walking by as you eat. It's a cute place with a view of the beach and the walkway

Everything's pretty good. Not fantastic but certainly not bad. Busy location. Nice sitting near the open windows looking out at the passing parade of humanity and overlooking the beach. That makes it pleasant and if there's any delays in service, all good just to chill.

We’ll see I went to go eat there to grab some lunch for take out I will never buy from there again for the price I paid you would think the bakon cheese burgers would be cooked all the way it was raw for both and also my kids hamburgers I will never go back there at all and then they didn’t even give me my wings so when I got back to the motel which was 15 mins away they were not in the bag so I had to go back I was mad 😠 worst restaurant on Venus beach who sales raw burgers 🍔 so nasty 🤢

We got to L.A. early in the morning and headed straight to Venice Beach. This was the only place open so we decided to try it. The food wasn't bad, great full breakfast for a full day. Worth trying.

This is a great spot to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the views of the boardwalk. We went for breakfast 2 times while staying in the Venice area. The food was really good and service was friendly and prompt. If you can get a spot in the first row of tables, the scenery will not disappoint.

Right on the board walk. Best smoothies only 539. Nachos are so good we shared and there was plenty, lots of guacamole. Great view of the outside entertainment. Fish tacos with cheese rice was delish. Free 1 hour parking with validation. Full bar inside. Lots of little shops right next door

My family had great breakfasts at this beachside cafe twice… great service, great food, and great for people watching along the Venice beach boardwalk. I had the Eggs Benedict, which came with a mimosa - super tasty! And there was live music while we ate from a local street musician.

Spent a lovely afternoon here with a few choice drafts and some of the best pizza I have eaten in California. The added bonus is that you dont miss any of the weirdos and freaks that wander through this rather odd metropolis, muttering obscenities and arguing with invisible entities. You would think that seeing grown men in pixie suits, half naked dudes dancing to the Julie Andrews Sound of Music, and female versions of H.R Puffnstuff wearing thongs and halter tops would be enough....but it seems so much more vibrant with beer and pizza. Do yourself an almighty favour and just sit here for an hour or so, absorbing the weird. The plus side is, you aren't breathing their exhaled air.....which seems the safest possible option. Friendliest staff ever, and beer was ice cold. 5 stars for this place every day.

Great food, fantastic atmosphere! I mean come on you are right by the beach...…. you are able to see all of the eclectic people walking by enjoying the best of Venice Beach! :)

This was a perfect place to watch the people on the beach walkway. The food was good with a variety for adults and kids. Our waiter was very attentive and shared stories of some of the people wwe were watching on the walkway.

Venice Beach is a BUSY place with a lot of offerings for food. Mostly street-meat kinda places with little seating, so we came here. It's a huge dining room attached to a bar and bookstore. We were sat immediately and ordered the Trilogy (club sandwich) and Daniel Pinkwater (chicken breast). You're offered a side of fries, slaw, green salad or cottage cheese. I chose the salad - it was fresh and a good side size. My husband chose the slaw and was deeply disappointed. He said that it had a funny taste. The club sandwich was very good, but the chicken sandwich was mediocre. The place was hustling and bustling, so the servers were busy. A simple wave of the hand got one of them over though.

I stop in here every once in a while. I always enjoy it. It's a great place to people watch. I also enjoy heading in the bar to escape the sun for a bit. Good happy hour specials!

As tourists, we were waking up and down the crazy Venice Beach when we decided to grab a bite and watch the show. We were quite surprised by the extensive menu-- everything from breakfast, soups/salads/sandwiches, dinner entree's to an entire bar menu. If you don't find what you want here, you're too picky! A great spot and the entertainment on the boardwalk is free!

Great food and services. Next to the beach. We ordered a pizza . the size and the pizza itself were great. Great services from the waiters . The local is next to the Venice beach path

Located right in the middle of Venice Beach with great outdoor seating. Great place to sit, relax, talk, eat and people watch. It was our first stop on our trip to Venice Beach. This place has stood the test of time and was here 28 years ago when I lived in Venice. I was thrilled to see it was still there. My daughter and I enjoyed a chicken wrap. We noticed they had a great menu. We will be back when we return to Venice Beach. Go at off times, weekdays to get the best seats.
Breakfast
Had a lovely meal here, I had banana and strawberry pancakes,The food was great and service good as well. Also the musician playing opposite the cafe was wonderful
