good brunch, fun place

By MJC929 |

We got in without a reservation on the advice of our concierge. He didn't steer us wrong. It got very crowded about 11am so it was good to have a reservation or go when it opens at 10am. Good brunch menu. All four of us loved our food and shared a mimosa kit which was fun and creative. Would go back.

Awesome

By Terry D |

We decided to try a new place for us and had an awesome late lunch. The service was great. Kara was very attentive and made some excellent suggestions from wine to dessert. She first suggested the Brussel sprout almond salad. It was a refreshing salad change that we enjoyed. She then uggested the spaghetti with crab, which we thought was an unusual combination. It melted in our mouths. She suggested two nice wines to go with it and that also fit the bill. We topped it off with Tiramisu. This place was a great find and we will go back again! Great food! Very attentive!

So yummy!!!

By Danica W |

We had a quick brunch here as we were waiting to take a tour on the water later that morning. The server was quick and attentive and the food was so amazing! I would have licked my plate clean if I could have. My husband also enjoyed the experience as it was his birthday brunch! Highly recommend and will be back on our next visit to Chicago!

Not Really Bad,

By mcg738 |

just boring and poorly executed. It's clear Siena Tavern is a concept more than an actual restaurant. The food wasn't bad, but it was uninteresting and very poorly executed. Chicken dish was the best of the lot, lamb chops were sort of greasy with some sort of unidentifiable sauce, pork chop dry and without much flavor. There are a few dead giveaways on this restaurant; it's in the heart of tourist zone, the bar has lot's of TV's, and the wine list (remember the name of the restaurant is 'Siena Tavern') has only a few wines from the region of Siena (i.e Montalcino of Chianti Classico), most are from other regions of Italy or the United States. In fairness the room is big and bright, the restaurant seemed clean and the service was friendly and our desired exit time was met. Wouldn't go back.

Upscale but very tasty

By Tachermoyen |

Great diner in family. Very tasty octopus for me- great pizza for kids and chicken as well as lasagna. Desert was ok. Very accommodating staff as we had no reservation.

Great Italian

By Jim D |

We hired out the entire restaurant for a large business gathering. No items off the normal menu, but because of waiters bringing countless trays of Hors d'oeuvres around for about 2 hours and a buffet beyond that, it was a great review of the spectrum of taste Siena delivers on. Pasta/pizza to die for (thin crust), meats done to perfection, seafood to savor and gnocchi you'll be talking about for a few days after eating.

Perfect! Delicious food

By Larissa Campos |

It was a cold winter evening and I went solo and had a seat at the bar. I ordered the spaghetti and it was absolutely perfect! I would go again and order the same thing again over and over. Paired with a good glass of wine to warm it up. Totally recommend this place.

dinner

By Joseph P |

I love this place to go for a drink or two or for a nice dinner. The serving staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. They know their menu, and will guide you to many selections that are fantastic. The restaurant and bar are very easy to mingle with friends or to meet new people. The bar area is a large round bar that is fun to enjoy the many people that are there having a fun time.

Excellant meal

By J S |

This place is one of the best. Been here several times. The food is excellent and more importantly consistent. The waitstaff believe in what they are serving you. Prices very reasonable. Beautiful ambience.

Delicious homemade pastas

By Beth C |

Had a fantastic meal that started with oysters and craft cocktails and ended with some amazing homemade pasta. Our server was outstanding and even worked with the bartender to make me a refreshing custom cocktail. Would love to go back!

Great pick!

By JuneC111954 |

Thanks, Joe G, for great, personable service! Food was terrific; quiet enough for conversation and great views!

Recommended to me and I’m recommended to you!

By rwheeler |

Went with my work colleagues for lunch. It happened to be restaurant week in Chicago so we took advantage of the two course prix fixed menu. The courses were on the smaller side, but it was fine since it was just lunch. Riley, our server was personable, fun and knowledgeable. Overall our food service and ambience were excellent. I would definitely return for another great meal.

Was so good we went back the next day

By Amy S |

We were in town to see Hamilton and choose Siena Tavern based on its proximity to our hotel. Loved every minute of our dinner! The service was impeccable - thanks Joe and the rest of the staff. Our dinner was so good we went back the next day for lunch. The mushroom truffle pizza was incredible - thin crispy crust and lots of flavor. Would definitely return.

Beverages at the Bar

By Joesboston |

Four of us sat at the bar and the bartender was outstanding. The only bad thing is we never got her name, but she was quick, friendly, anticipated our needs. Quiet but friendly efficient service. Upscale bar with a great atmosphere.

Bring your ear plugs with you

By Athina T |

It is a bar AND a restaurant. If you go to enjoy dinnet: very good food. Good wine. polite stuff. Noisy Beats instead of music.

Worth a visit

By billhollowsky |

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and have not been disappointed yet. Service has been great and the food and drinks delicious. Siena has cool décor and ambiance. It’s in a great and easy location to get to.

Pre marathon feast and came hungry

By David M |

Excellent place to come for dinner, we had the best waiter Ive all year named Michael, incredibly friendly, incredibly efficient, and the food was excellent, you will not be disappointed!

Great Grilled Octopus

By Smurr20 |

Our waiter was terrific and made suggestions. The grilled octopus was spectacular. We shared a pizza- half truffle mushroom, half pepperoni and the orecchiette. The pizza crust was soggy in the middle, we pushed the toppings back and tore off the part of the crust that was close to the center. The pasta dish was okay, quite salty. Our old fashion cocktails were good.

A good find!

By sparrish5 |

We went there on a concierge recommendation, and the place fulfilled our hopes. We had the gnocchi and the lasagna. Both were special dishes with clearly authentic and homemade pasta in them. The outdoor dining area was fabulous, the vibe was fun. Only regret is that we did not order drinks. Prices were not low, but they were not unreasonable for the quality. Try the bomboloni for a fun dessert. Service was top notch!

Great GF Options

By World Raders |

From a Gluten-Free stand point this place had great offerings. They had a separate GF menu and our waitress was very knowledgeable about additional items that could be made GF as well. To start we had GF bruschetta, which was really good. Then I had a brussels sprout salad as my main. It was really good and a large portion. My husband, who is an Italian food connoisseur did not enjoy this place as much. He didn't find his meals as good, and we both agreed that the atmosphere wasn't really our style. Loud bar area, with a hint of a nightclub feel. The service was great, and the staff was friendly

Great Brunch

By honeygene |

Great brunch. Great drinks. Very attentive staff. Food was prepared correctly and served hot. We will be back for dinner.

A taste of Italy in the heart of Chicago

By rizo |

The upscale Italian fare, rooted in a "from scratch" approach, was impressive, especially the pasta dishes. The wine list was extensive, and the rustic-meets-contemporary ambiance added charm. However, the service felt a bit inconsistent, and some dishes were overpriced for the portion size.

Great Italian in River North

By kendellbrink |

Recommended as one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago and we agree. House made pastas with interesting and tasty toppings. Neapolitan-style pizzas and they will make half and half for trying more of their combinations. The kale Caesar salad is lightly dressed and topped with a crouton crumble for just the right amount of crunch. Dessert was the perfect ending to a great evening. Do try the olive oil cake….oh my goodness…sweet and moist. Service was perfect and added to the evening.

When in Chicago, look no further!

By Christian_Wroclaw |

This is a place to go in downtown Chicago for good food, good atmosphere and wonderful service. Everything top-notch. I rarely give 5 stars to restaurants I’ve been in, but this deserves all of them stars.

Best Restaurant in Chicago

By cdinally |

I made a reservation for my birthday and they did not disappoint. Loved the lighting and vibe. Great service. The bolognese was the best I’ve had. I kept eating it even after I was full because it was sooo good. Bomboli and birthday ice cream to finish the meal. I left so satisfied. I will definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Chicago.

Great staff and customer service!

By Annie |

Fantastic food, great space, good vibes with a DJ--and the staff here is outstanding! Donnie and Brianna made our night!! thank you!

Pricey but good. The jar of

By Matt_from_Chicago |

Pricey but good. The jar of carbonara is fun - and tasty. I had the lasagna, and I ate the entire thing. The sorbets/gelatos are delicious but @$8 each, a little on the high side.

Pricey but good

By William N |

A friend and I met for brunch on a Sunday morning. The menus had a lot of good choices- kind of pricey but the food was very good. Service was good and servers were informative and friendly. We arrived as they opened and by the time we left, they were very busy. I would very much recommend it here!

excellent lunch following river cruise

By Susan P |

When the places on the river were jammed after our architectural cruise, we quickly checked Open Table. We got right in on a Saturday afternoon. The food and cocktails were excellent, and the service was enthusiastic and attentive. The server had great recommendations, and our entire party of 6 left happy. Because it was a beautiful day, most diners were outside, which is probably why it wasn't crazy noisy for us inside. A couple people in our group described the meal as the best ever.

Not impressed

By CRMays |

We stopped in after going to a play. The decor was nice. They had a DJ playing house music, but it was extremely loud! It sounded like a nightclub. We would have sat outside, but it was pretty hot. They had just turned over to the night menu. We had been told to try the meatball, so we did. I was shocked! It was an average meatball, without much flavor, and smaller than a tennis ball. The worst part was that it was barely warm! It was $21 for 1 meatball! So you would think they would have at least heated it. We also ordered a pizza. It was okay. But nothing to get excited about. I was looking forward to trying Siena, as I had wanted a good meatball. I ended up so disappointed.

Wow!

By Joshmtl |

Amazing restaurant with incredible service! Everything was fresh and super tasty! All the dishes were presented nicely.

Amazing meal on a pre-planned menu in the private dining room

By ALinCA5512 |

14 people fit in the private dining room and was a great experience. Our set menu was beyond perfect. It is all rich food, so the family style was a perfect tasting of great flavors. Brick Chicken was the most tender and flavorful chicken. Wagyu Beef Meatball was a favorite and we could have eaten more. For dessert, the Tiramisu was so good and could have eaten more. I would come back ANY TIME and perfect for a business meal.

Excellent

By Michalis K |

Exceptional food, from the pasta to the pizza and everything else. Perfect for after the Chicago Marathon. Anthony from the staff was more than perfect, always there to help us and answer our questions.

Cool Restaurant

By AsHammer |

We had a small group of 3 and had set reservations through Open Table for dinner. We arrived on time but stood in the doorway for nearly 20 minutes before we were seated. When one of our party went up to the hostess stand to check on the reservation he was sort of dismissed. Luckily, we weren't in a big hurry. Outside of that snag, the atmosphere of the restaurant was neat and the food was delicious. Our server was attentive and did a nice job. Overall a good experience although I would definitely allocate some time as the place was popular and very busy for most of the night.

Lackluster

By Jackie G |

After reading all the great reviews on trip advisor we decided to go to Siena Tavern on our last night in the city. It was a disappointing experience. A lot of it had to do with our server. She went through the motions and did not make any recommendations or check on us after serving main plates. I ordered the salmon and my husband ordered the chicken. The salmon was good although very lemony and salty. The lentils that were served with it we’re undercooked. I ate it because I was hungry and my waitress did not return to ask if I liked it. The chicken my husband ordered was very plain tasting. It was served with arugula salad which was again, very very lemony. Drenched in the lemony flavoring. could not eat it. The wait staff kept coming to refill our glasses of water and change out silverware however the waitress was missing in action once she took our order. It took her a while to clear off our plates and we were still hungry so we ordered dessert. For the high price tag of this restaurant, save your money and go elsewhere. There are many other delicious restaurants in Chicago. The night before we ate at Formento’s and it was over-the-top delicious for the same price range

Great Place

By WINEandTRAVEL |

This place is still great. Haven't been in quite a while, so nice to see. Sat outside for the first time... really nice on a nice day. All the sides were excellent, particularly the brussel sprouts. Meatball is a must. Pizzas are excellent here... Dessert was awesome. Service is great too... and the drinks, so great!

Wonderful. We met frIends

By Colby J |

Wonderful. We met frIends at the bar and had some great cocktails and then moved to our table right on time with our reservation. Friendly bartenders and attentive servers. Of the appetizers we enjoyed the grilled octopus stood out for me. It was outstanding. Everyone enjoyed their meals and wine which made for an all around delightful experience. My scallops were perfectly cooked, some of the best I’ve had recently. Skip the deserts though - so so.

Good food and service

By CanadaYUL |

Was there for a business dinner. We were seated in the bar area which was busy. The food was good and so was the service. We had a couple of pizzas which were good and a bunch of different appetizers. The location is also convenient and it’d easy to get to.

Great pizza and location

By Flavia_travel |

My son loves the pizza here. This time he had pepperoni. The carbonara on a jar was good too, but I think a bit less sauce would make it better. My husband thought a bit of a kick was needed. The octopus appetizer was excellent. Ready for next time. Always a good meal.

Brunch done right

By thrallt |

This is my type of brunch! Mimosa kit which includes a bottle of Prosecco, fresh squeezed orange juice, and seasonal fruit purées. Food was delicious as well. We tried the breakfast skillet which was full of fresh vegetables and a side of chicken sausage. Service was excellent as well. We sat at the bar which seemed a bit more laid back and casual.

Amazing food and atmosphere

By Emma H |

Dinner here lived up to all our expectations. We had the meatball with an amazing sauce, the chicken dish was phenomenal, as was the lasagna and pappardelle bolognese. We ended with amazing chocolate gelato cake and tiramisu. Our waiter was very knowledgable of the menu and also very attentive. We had an overall wonderful experience.

Solid lunch spot

By tms215 |

This is a great place for lunch with friends or clients. Lots of seating options in booths or high tops. Fresh food ranging from salads to homemade pasta. Service was good and the bill wasn't outrageous. Not too loud and all different kinds of people. This is more of a high end pub than a fancy restaurant. I'd definitely come back

Great Food-busy and bustling

By Indi |

We had a reservation at 5:30 on Friday and it was already packed! Be sure to get a reservation! The executive chef is from top chef and the concept is delicious Italian. Salad, pizzas, pasta were all excellent as were the drinks. The waiter was very accommodating with special orders. Only thing holding it back from a perfect score if the pizza didn’t come out hot but it was so delicious we ate it happily! Great meal!

Great Italian

By 195508Anonymous |

We enjoyed the ambiance and Italian food at Siena Tavern. The waitstaff was attentive, wine list very good with a variety of price points and all the food was fantastic. The restaurant has large glass windows overlooking the street for a fun, urban experience.

Fresh pasta, great atmosphere!

By Meredith V |

The staff was great! The food was seasoned to perfection. The fresh pasta was delicious. I had the squid ink pasta. My son had the spaghetti. My other son had the roasted chicken. They were all wonderful. The had a short but good selection of wine by the glass. One hindrance for some, the music was very loud.

good food and great service

By Christine H |

The service at this restaurant is top notch. Joseph G was our server. His food recommendations were very good: octopus, spaghetti and scallops. We sat inside and the al fresco dining looked lovely.

Great date Night

By Kandiko83 |

My husband came down to Chicago for a night out and we happened to be in a hotel right across from the Siena Tavern. We were delighted with the choices of food, everything was delicious and the drink options were fun too. Also, great service.

$400 for Cold Noodles and Terrible Service

By AZCulture |

We were a party of 7 with reservations- this restaurant cam highly recommended by other friends. Unfortunately, our waiter came by only twice in 2 hours. Our food was brought out semi warm and we were missing a meal and a beer. They were out of domestic beer on draft and offered to bring something comparable but ended up bringing an IPA that they charged extra. We spent 20 minutes flagging down other staff to check on missing items and to bring salt & pepper as food was growing cold- no offer of fresh Parmesan to be had anywhere, and they cleared unfinished food and cocktails without asking if we were done, By the time our missing dish finally arrived, everyone was already done eating- still no waiter to be found. They never offered to comp the missing/late meal and were surprisingly unapologetic. Their mentality seemed to be that we should just be happy to just get a reservation. Very disappointing.

Amazing Food in a great atmosphere

By Spiegs1968 |

We have been craving Siena Tavern since our last visit 2-years ago and tonight did not disappoint. Great atmosphere, great service, and amazing pasta. We started with a well crafted cocktail, then moved on to the delicious Coccoli, their signature appetizer with crispy bread, prosciutto, fancy cheese and truffle honey. Again, the pasta was amazing- caccio e Pepe, how can something so simple be so good. My wife also loved her tagliatelle with clams. Desserts very worthy. Loved our server engaged, but not overbearing - knew his stuff. Price and value is amazing for a popular big city locale. We left as we came, planning our next visit

Good but expensive

By GatorAndria |

I went for happy hour, great selection of beers and drinks and they have Stella which is always a bonus for me. I thought the food was really pricey. I think I paid $18 for one big meatball appetizer. It was good, but not worth the price.

Great brunch!

By Ellen B |

Just had a great brunch at Siena Tavern. Service was prompt & courteous. The food was tasty. My breakfast skillet was very good, but not great. It was really more like a shakshuka egg dish. The egg was as tough as leather (hard to cut!) but the sautéed veggies were well seasoned & well prepared. Others in our group enjoyed their breakfast pizzas & steak & eggs. The avocado toast looked amazing! We appreciated the social distancing protocols that were observed. We dined outside & all agreed this was a great choice for brunch after going without for so long!

Great meal

By Kermit753 |

I had dinner at Siena Tavern with a group of friends and it was an excellent experience. We all had different entrees, and everyone was very pleased with their food. I had the gnocchi, and it was perfect. The desserts were excellent as well, but the dessert with the donuts and various sauces was clearly the winner of the table. I would definitely go back to this restaurant.

Amazing !! My son had the most memorable dinner of his life

By Jane |

We went here for my graduation dinner dinner from NU graduate school. My 9 year old son has become obsessed with top chef and Fabio is his favorite . Fabio is the reason my son started eating more than chicken nuggets and cucumbers. His favorite dish at dinner today was the octopus appetizer and the braised short rib. He even tried the squid ink pasta !!!! Everything was amazing . Our server , Kayla J went above and beyond for my son. As we are leaving she gave him a signed card by Fabio and my son was so overwhelmed he started crying tears of joy ... and then as we were already walking, Kayla ran out to give him Fabio’s book. I can not express what this meant to my son. He did not get to meet Fabio but the spirit of all that Fabio expresses was in the food and in the staff. We had an amazing dinner and my son had the most memorable day of his life thus far. Thank you so much to Kayla!!! And Fabio for a wonderful restaurant evening . My son feels this has been the best day of his life - he is overwhelmed with how amazing this day has been.

Unforgettable

By tiffnichols13 |

The food we had was amazing!! The jar of Carbonara was delicious and the wood grilled pizza was melt in your mouth delicious. Loved the food!! Our server was great, they divide and conquer here to get things done. Loved our experience, would go back any time!!

Better Venue

By Raphael L |

While I am not a fan of eating inside due to the high decibel noise level, we ate outside and had a fabulous time. After getting jerked around at Parlor Pizza with a thirty minute wait, when tables were available, we ambled across the street: good move. Fantastic service by Connor as I enjoyed my Peroni beers and split a Kale salad and Mushroom Truffle Pizza with my wife. Make a reservation and sit outside and ENJOY!

Always visit

By Linda S |

Every time we're in Chicago, we make our way to Siena Tavern. Great atmosphere, food and drink! Have enjoyed both lunch and dinner on our visits

Wondering what the fuss was about

By Zelig |

Siena Tavern is supposed to be one of the best Italian restaurants in Chicago. Unfortunately, I didn’t find anything special about the food, but the atmosphere was nice and the bar was pretty big. The restaurant was good overall, but I expected something better. I ordered the cocoletta and the mushroom tagliatelle. The cocoletta was ok but really heavy (buttery + cream-cheesy). The pasta was a little heavy and kind of lacking in flavor. The food was a bit pricey, too. Anyway, if you were looking for a trendy restaurant with good—but not REALLY good—food, go to Siena Tavern.

You can see them make your pizza

By narcanti |

We have been there for dinner with a small group. The service was really nice and helpful. The Siena Tavern offers a variety of Italien food and also some steaks. But the best part is that you can see them make you pizza in the stone oven. We had a really nice evening and I would definitely go there again!

Wow! What a delicious breakfast!!!

By michaelcJ492PZ |

Wow! What a delicious breakfast!!! This was our second time at Siena Tavern, first for breakfast. Amazing meal. My wife and I had the ricotta pancakes and truffle eggs. Both delicious. My son had the breakfast pizza. He loved it. Great service and great food. Would definitely recommend Siena Tavern for breakfast and can’t wait to go again. Only reason I didn’t rate it five stars was the coffee was just ok. Kinda weak and my first cup was luke warm.

Great food, amazing drinks!

By TheTravelGirl525 |

What a great experience. I cannot recommend the cocktail #9 enough. I stated more than once that it was the best drink that I have ever had. If you like tequila - get it. The lobster roll was also delicious and so fresh. It was served with parmesan fries that were so flavorful. We also had the yummy charred brussel sprouts. Service was great and having a live dj on a Saturday afternoon was brilliant.

Nice food, and excellent service

By Antityco |

We went with our daughter for Christmas Eve. The food was very good. They had a good selection of wine and beer. Service was excellent. Bring your big wallet.

Lovely brunch

By MiTraveler8 |

Enjoyed a late morning brunch on a Saturday. Neat restaurant, interesting and with nice touches, but not stuffy. Pleasant service, friendly and helpful. We had lobster Benedict (over polenta as the bread, and with crispy Brussel sprouts) and the rib-eye sandwich- both were delicious.

Best restaurant of our trip

By Beth Lewis |

Best restaurant of our visit to the Windy City. We highly recommend brunch. The service is impeccable, and the food is a whole experience. You have so many choices to eat in Chicago, but this place should be your first choice. We can’t wait to go back!

This was a great environment and good food

By Bruce Canal |

We liked the variety of food; many of us shared and were able to taste lots of different food. You would enjoy the flavors.

Get together dinner in Chicago

By Nuha K 56 |

The place is dark and noisy for older people like us.the food is very delicious and tasty.our servers were very courteous and helpful. We had the truffle pizza and regular one as appetizers then we ordered the chicken and the black ink pasta with crab. All very very yummy.for dessert we had the chocolate cake bar with hazelnut and caramel syrup. excellent.

Great for brunch

By Opinion8ted |

The lobster hash is worth every penny. The smoked salmon plate arrives with big puffy balls of fried dough, impossible to spread cream cheese on and deck with lox and capers. But the brunch cocktails are nice. A root vegetable hash with melted burrata and an egg was the perfect meal to span breakfast and lunch. The wait staff are nice. The monkey bread is great to start with, and there is plenty to share with a table of four or five. Like so many places these days the staff are overly eager to clear plates.

YUM!!!!

By SweeneyBoston_Ma |

We had lunch yesterday and it was excellent. We ate at the bar and split their famous wagyu meatball appetizer and kale salad with shrimp. Drinks were expertly made by Corn - we highly recommend!

Disappointing

By Christine T |

Food was not good, especially given prices. Disappointing, especially when our server lead with referencing Fabio Viviani, Top Chef contestant as the head chef in a couple of the Siena Restaurants. If Fabio had eaten a couple of our sides he would have been mortified - they were tasteless, bland and mass produced; better to leave Fabio’s name out, that way expectations would be lower.

Delicious food!

By barbrvc |

The food at Siena Tavern is delicious! Our party of 4 all had different items, and we were all thrilled with our dishes. But the real treat is the people working at Siena Tavern! From the friendly people at the front desk greeting you at this very busy restaurant (you might want to call ahead for a reservation), to our waitress who explained everything and recommended many dishes. The service was wonderful. You can't go wrong!!

Wow, just wow!

By Spiegs1968 |

Wow, just wow! Great atmosphere, great food and phenomenal service from Ashleigh our bartender. Everything about this meal was perfect. Best pasta we have had in some time. Siena is in our world wide top 10. Price and value amazing

Great food and service

By CaliforniaGirl2 |

We had a wonderful dinner at Siena Tavern. The service was top-notch. Our table was ready when we arrived for our 5:15 pm reservation. The food was great. There were so many things I wanted to try. I had a hard time making a decision. I settled on the rigatoni. The other people in our party had the lamb chops, gnocchi, and ORECCHIETTE. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Would definitely go back

Impossible to have a conversation

By Thomas R |

Don’t eat here if you hoe to have a conversation. Continued loud bass-heavy “music.” Several large tables encouraged loud talking. Acoustics are horrible. Perhaps the patio is better The appearance is lovely. Service attentive and professional. Menu is relatively small but interesting. Food was excellent- could have been outstanding with a. It less salt.

Very trendy

By NCgirl1 |

I felt very trendy going into Sienna Tavern. A friend had suggested I go there for dinner. The bar was very busy, I do not know if the restaurant was busy. Lots of young people. I ordered one of the pizza’s on the menu, it was huge, I could only eat half. I would love to try this place on a weekend.

Best Minestrone Soup Ever!

By Gail N |

We had wanted to go here for Supper but could get in, so we decided to try lunch here. It was a fun place and the food was fantastic. We had some of their bloody Marys which were very good. My friend and I had the Minestrone soup and it came with half of a grilled cheese. Wow this was the best soup I have every had.. My husband had a burger and really liked it also. Great place!

Poor Takeout Experience

By Dsamer4 |

I'm staying at a hotel across the street and ordered a simple pasta and salad for take out. The woman who answered the phone said it would be 25-30 minutes for pick up. I walked over at 25 min to pick up my order and the hostess sent me to the one bar. I waited at that bar area and was sent to another bar area. They didn't have my order. The bartender apologized and put in my order in right away. I checked back in with the hostess on the way out to find out who took my order - and she did nothing to be helpful at all - and said "Well all 3 of us here answer the phone". Rather than trying to solve the issue she deflected and did nothing other than ask me what phone number I called. With limited care and concern I will not be back here in the future. It would be great if the staff was trained on how to effectively handle unfortunate customer situations.

So good...

By PinkWilson |

My wife picked the spot to host a dinner for 6, with two preteen kids. They had the “exotic” cheese pizza, so that was the challenge. The adults had the squid ink pasta, scallops, lasagna, and spaghetti. It was really special and up to expectations. There was “club” music ambiance and dimmed lights at 10pm, so it was still vibrant energy into the evening. I really liked the experience. Service was good and food runners brought out our meals in good time.

Celebrating dinner

By Leslie C |

We went to Siena Tavern during a weekend visiting Chicago after seeing a show. The atmosphere was warm. We were able to have a conversation without having to raise our voices. We ordered beers along with two pasta entrees and a dessert. Our server was very helpful by explaining the menu and making suggestions. The staff was attentive with refilling water glasses and clearing plates without being intrusive. Both of us enjoyed our entree choices as well as the dessert. I would definitely recommend Siena Tavern to someone visiting Chicago.

Great drinks

By Inna N |

Great drinks and food! Really enjoyed the ambiance! Food came out quickly and the server was fantastic.

Tasting Menu

By Lauren A |

I ordered the "Forget About It." Every dish was delicious. Appetizer 1. Bruschetta. Appetizer 2. Wagyu beef meatball. Pasta: Carbonara pasta. Entrée: brick chicken diavolo. Dessert. Bomboloni (Italian donut). The portion on each dish was full-size. The "Forget About It" cost about $75. Each dish ordered separately would have totaled $110. The tasting menu was definitely worth it. I sat at the bar, and the bartenders were very attentive and friendly. I would recommend Siena Tavern.

Perfect breakfast!

By 361oris |

Great selection of food, very tasty, outstanding service , great ambiance . Outdoor and indoor seatings. Went above and beyond to accommodate our needs.

Private Room-Party of 10

By AnDeCrMa |

Wow what an excellent private dining room. We were so excited at the intimate room that appears like you are entering a wine cellar. Everything in the menu is delicious. By far my favorite was the meatball appetizer! You cannot go wrong with any of the pizzas & pastas. Thank you for an amazing dinner experience during the historic cold week!

Decent spot for fairly priced food and drinks!

By Joseph C |

Siena Tavern occupies a very large, well maintained, space and, weather permitting, also has outdoor seating. It is somewhat noisy and conversation is difficult. Cocktails and wines by the glass, as well as the pasta dishes which we all had, are pretty good, and priced fairly. Service is excellent.

Nice and friendly

By SwedesOnVacay 🍒 |

Not the most inventive or interesting menu we've seen but definately worth a visit if you're in town. The restaurant has tasteful christmas decor which is nice and honestly kind of rare in the city this time of year. The staff is really sweet and friendly, super nice! Try the scallops and the salmon, very good.

Attended an event at Sienna Tavern. The food and service were both on point!! I can’t wait to try it again!!

Lovely spot ~ great scene

By Bank_Nerd |

Delicious food / great service ~ family of 4…my very picky son had buttered noodles which he loved. We had squid ink pasta / tuna tartare / tortellaci / grilled octopus ~ everything was delicious…nice wine list also.

Top Italian food and great atmosphere

By David V |

Great Italian resto by Top Chef Fabio Viviani. Food was top quality, meat lovers pizza to start was very tasty and perfect cooked. Lasagna and pasta carbonara was also excellent. Great bar to have a drink before the meal.

A fabulous brunch

By Katelyn C |

Definitely would brunch here again. The breakfast pizza was wonderful, as was the avocado toast. The star of the brunch was the monkey bread. Oh my goodness it was the best!

Mimosa Patti

By davetwa |

We were walking around Chicago on vacation looking for a breakfast place. We saw the sign for the restaurant and decided to eat there. We were seated right away and safely with the Covid distancing. The server came right over and introduced himself and told us that this was Chef Fabio Viviani from top chef property. That was A surprise. We ordered mimosas and they were fantastic. When ordering breakfast I wanted The fillet mignon medallions with eggs while my companion wanted the chicken fried steak and biscuits. While ordering the server heard us say that we will probably try each so they brought out four plates half of each portion for each of us. That was awesome and very unexpected. The food was absolutely fantastic. It was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great atmosphere

By Steve C |

A great restaurant knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere, brilliant food. Squid ink pasta with half a lobster tail was extrodinery an absolute must if you are in Chicago, make sure to reserve a table

Well Curated Menu with Beloved Favorites

By TheFrenchWanderer |

We enjoyed the 5-course tasting menu with wine pairings. The dishes ranged from unusual combinations to moan-worthy favorites. (Charred octopus with celery as the appetizer. Crispy lemon roasted potatoes with lemon chicken that makes those taste buds zing. Tiramisu with Douro Valley Port. What is not to like about that?) The wine pairing was so worth it. Our table was outside, but with the heaters, we were comfortable even with the winds of Lake Michigan. Wait staff was personable and very attentive.

Chef life/ early dinner

By Bruce B |

Ah, the Kobe meatballs were sublime, melting in your mouth with every bite. The octopus? Simply out of this world—tender, with just the right char. And the pizza, oh, I’ve tasted it a decade ago, and it’s still as remarkable as ever. My wife said when she picked up a slice, it was light as air, practically floating. This place—it’s culinary craftsmanship at its finest, truly next level. Thanks Matt-Jose 10/28/24

Great fresh food! Fun fresh drinks and great service!

By Gregg P |

Great fresh food! Fun fresh drinks and outstanding service! Went here on a busy Saturday night and was directly sat at the bar. We received outstanding quick service from the expert bartender. I got a frozen lemoncelo which was spot on! Highly recommend! Will return

Top top Italian food

Went with my family and friends this week and we were really impressed with the food , the service and the atmosphere. Highly recommend it and we will definitely go back many times . Keep up the good work 👍🏼

Great Vibe

While I can't speak on the food, the bartenders were great and the drinks were fantastic. My wife and I loved the vibe and will definitely stop by again for more than drinks!

Amazing food and five star service!

By G. Tallarico |

Amazing food and five star service! I have lived in downtown Chicago for 20+ years and Sienna Tavern has become my go to restaurant in Chicago. The menu has a nice variety of dishes, each with unique and complex flavors. The meatball is a must have, the sea scallops are cooked to perfection and you can’t go wrong with the broccoli and green beans. My favorite pasta is the orecchiette (house made) and the pizzas are also outstanding. The service is attentive and friendly but not intrusive. I have been here a number of times during Covid (outside dining) and they are very respectful of social distancing. Highly recommend Sienna Tavern!

Over the Top

By TAN |

We are already fans of Fabio Viviani’s restaurants and here is another example why... We made reservations at Siena Tavern for Valentine’s Day. Not only did we have an amazing table in a beautiful setting, but we had Michael as our server. WOW! We chose the Prix Fixe menu so we could sample different options. We also chose the wine pairings option from the Sommelier. It just so happens that Michael, our server, was one of the restaurant’s Sommeliers! He was just brilliant! We had an amazing 5-course dinner, paired with 5 wines that perfectly complemented each course. The night capped off with meeting Mickey, a front of the house manager. The service and attention to detail was over the top! We will be back to see Michael and Mickey and would suggest that you do, too!

Food ok, but made for TV

By Jen H |

Met a friend for lunch. Didn't like the waiter promoting Food Channel link. Food was good, but lunch menu a bit limited for me. The mandatory 3% (!!!!!) "sanitation fee" is OUTRAGEOUS.

Siena Tavern - very popular and VERY good downtown Chicago Italian restaurant

By byMT305 |

Located in downtown Chicago and the creation of Top Chef TV show alum Fabio Viviani, Siena Tavern has been a big success in Chicago for many years. It was packed full on a recent October Wednesday night, with the hostess having to turn-away walk-in’s. The menu has plenty to choose from (full bar, numerous appetizers, pizzas, pastas, seafood, steaks etc.) We enjoyed: VERY good cocktails (excellent Margarita, and Makers Mark No. 6 old fashioned-type drink) Chopped salad - excellent!! ($16 salad easily enough for 2 people) Spaghetti w/ tomato, crab, chili, lemon cream - very good (& VERY creamy) House gelato - good (we tried vanilla & salted caramel) When in Chicago, I’d highly recommend Siena Tavern (reservation mandatory); we would gladly return!

Great service

By Frank S |

Being on a business trip I was looking for a place for dinner and I walked into Siena Tavern to see if there was a table available. Some high tops in the bar area were free and I chose one. The waitress, Kayla, was there immediately and gave me the menu. She was very attentive and the service was excellent. The grilling octopus was delicious as an appetizer. The main course was pasta Amatriciana aaaand was prepared

Modern Italian

By BrunoAmici |

Siena Tavern is a modern Italian with excellent food and service. The truffle Gnocchi is really good.

Expected More

By William R |

We had a party of 8, table was fine, server was fine. Not conversation friendly and the restaurant was much too cold [ outside may have been a better choice }, spaghetti looked interesting but was disappointing. I should have known better, a light cream sauce made the pasta congeal, because it was lukewarm when served. Another in our party felt the same about the spaghetti, while the others were more than satisfied with their dinner choices.

Wowzah!!

By jackeboy47 |

Hands down, the best pizza we've had in Chicago. Great crust and toppings: the mushroom truffle pizza(with added truffle) was heaven. Great service, too.

So I wanted Italian food tonight

By Nancy C |

So I wanted Italian food tonight, our last night in Chicago. I made a reservation at Siena Tavern, about a block from our hotel. We are seated outside. Our waiter introduced himself and tells us the chef is Fabio Viviani- from Top Chef. We tell him that we have met him in NY. ... and goes the evening. Each dish and our cocktails were excellent. Those of you that know us, we are food tv junkies... big fans. We have eaten in celebrity chef restaurants the past two nights. Our waiter, Joel was conscientious and we told him the scollop entree had a bit too much finishing salt. A few minutes later the manager comes to our table and says nice to meet you friends of Fabio (not). After a lovely chat he say I’ll take care of dessert. He comes back with 3 amazing desserts and 2 top shelf after dinner liquors. Needless to say it was an unforgettable meal.

Tasty Food worth the visit

By Danny D |

We were in Chicago for a Business Trip and had reservations for dinner here. We had a Pre-Fixed Menu (see picture). We were a large group (13 people) and had made this reservation well in advance - however when we got there were we seated at two adjoining booths instead of one long table - made for people having to chose between the two booths which is not healthy when one is on a business trip. For Antipasti we had the Bruschetta followed by the Siena Chopped Salad (more details of each on attached picture). These were decent. For Pasta we had the Rigatoni Alla Vodka and the Orecchiette pastas. Both of these were delicious and very well prepared. For our Entree we had the Beef Tenderloin and the Brick Chicken - both of which were very well prepared with the Beef Tenderloin being a winner hands-down. For Dessert we were served bite size pieces of a Vanilla Bean Cheese Cake with a Blue Berry compote and honey crisp. Would have preferred to have a wedge instead. The Wine Selection was good. Our server kept disappearing but he was able to help with the requests that were asked of him.

Brick chicken was a delicious decision

By Lisa D |

Had no idea where to dine , and just based on a bypasser on the street we stopped in to siena Tavern. So happy we did! I had the brick chicken diavolo with a glass of white wine, soo soo good. The chicken was melt in your mouth tender with a crispy outer crust and it was in a delicious lemony creamy sauce. The potatos were good and the arugula had a nice light dressing on it. My husband had the sphaghetti with crab meat in a delicious creamy sauce. Service was excellent.

Stylish bar in River North with good food and drinks

By Brian G |

I was staying at a hotel in the area with my significant other, looking for a quick bite and some drinks. Siena Tavern was our choice for dinner to start the new year. We were seated upon walking in near the bar and received quick and pleasant service throughout our meal. I ordered the lasagna, which was cooked in a personal cast iron pan - it came out a bit burnt on the top, but once I dug in, it was much better, filled with cheesy pasta. My girlfriend ordered the butternut squash ravioli and raved about it, saying it was one of her favorite meals in Chicago. I tried her dish and was also impressed, wishing I had ordered her entree rather than mine! I ordered a beer, after reviewing their list of choices, and my girlfriend ordered a mixed drink, not really knowing what it was. Their drink menu numbered the mixed drinks rather than titling them, which was different, but she also enjoyed her cocktail, which was a blueberry vodka mix. As a whole, the venue was my favorite part about our time there - it was unique and vibrant, filled with people and conversation. As others have said, the menu wasn't overwhelming as far as it's choices, but the food was solid and the drink menu was creative.

Great

By GaryMcCoy |

Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. All fresh ingredients, a great variety of dishes and served without rush. I will definitely come back here again.

Excellent Italian

By SherriB1050 |

Great selection of Italian dishes. Excellent quality and quantity for the price. Service was warm and welcoming.

Must go in Chicago

By Leandro S |

The best dinner we have ever had in Chicago, everything about Sienna Tavern is great. Went with a group of ten and had exceptional service, amazing food (especially the pasta dishes) and incredible drinks. Highly recommend!

Yummm!

By TxGaCo |

Celebrating our anniversary with a trip to Chicago, and this restaurant was a fantastic choice for a special meal. Food and service were exceptional. Would love to eat here again! Highly recommend!

Great Experience- both times!

By KimZ28 |

On a recent trip to Chicago we stopped at Siena for lunch and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. Our food was excellent and had rather large portions. We split the coccili (it was delicious!). For dinner we couldn’t decide where to go without a reservation so we decided to head back to Siena. I am glad we did! We sat at the bar by the pizza oven. Again, our server was awesome! It was fun to watch the pizza guys work and the pizzas looked so good we ordered a pizza and a great bottle of wine. Both were to our liking. It is a bit pricey, but it is downtown Chicago! We will be back.

Great lunch

By Twinsmom99 |

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Siena Tavern. We had the egg sandwich and chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. The service was great! Attentive and informative. We’ll be back.

Very good Service and meals!

By Loutre |

A nice address in Chicago to taste Italian with well-rounded and tasty dishes. Impeccable Service and large rooms. Outdoor nice especially if, like us, you can enjoy the lounge “diapers”.

Just stopped by for drinks, but always a winner

By Susan M |

This is another Chicago favorite. Just stopped in with old friends for drinks before dinner but they apparently make a good Old Fashioned for my husband and friends and tailored a cocktail for me. The bar was full so it was a little noisy but not real issues.

Food and service - subpar for the price

By Jeffrey T |

Ordered the burnt pepperoni pizza. The crust (thin crust) was extremely tough and chewy; had to muscle it with a knife and fork and finally gave up and tore it apart with my teeth. Waiter never asked how my meal was; was only interested in selling me another glass of wine. I didn't order the 2nd glass of wine but was billed for it, but got it corrected after calling it out to the waiter. Bottom line: food and service not worth the prices.

Inflated prices that the food did not live up to

By Howard R |

Went there later January with my family for my wife’s birthday. Our reservation was honored and we had a good server-Luke, I believe. We ordered the burnt pepperoni pizza which was tasty and the diavollo chicken and a scallops dish. Both were good but not great and the food did not justify the high prices -$175 bill for 3 entrees, 1 pizza, 2 glasses of wine and a $12 side of broccoli .

Just OK

By charles a |

The location was convenient to our hotel but as a former resident of Chicago, we were not impressed. Our server seemed disinterested and not focused on his guests. Octopus appetizer was very small and over cooked making it tough. Too many others great choices in Chicago.

Great Lunch Find

By 1OttawaFoodie |

Cold rainy day in Chicago and looking for something after a freezing walk and passed this place. Great service with minestrone a nice touch to warm up. A little over seasoned but hearty. Wood fired thin crust pizza excellent. 1/2 mushroom...1/2 carne to suit our needs. More than enough and both sides delicious. Wonderful find and nice ambience.

Lively restaurant

By John S |

Good place to go with multiple people so you can order a few entrees and share family style. All of our entrees were good and we liked the dessert donuts. Skip the coccoli though. It looked and sounded much better than it tasted.

Great Dinner Experience

By John H |

We were at another establishment and were telling the owner how much we liked his place. He asked us where we were going for dinner and told him we had reservations at Sienna Tavern. He replied, "that's a coincidence, their manager is sitting 2 tables over. I kiddingly told him to put in a good word for us. When we settled our check he gave me Marnie's card and said to hand that to hostess - we proceeded to get seated to a great table with complimentary cocktails and dessert. The restaurant has a great buzz, even in the middle of the week. Our waiter was knowledgable and recommended the grilled octopus - which was out of this world. Entrees were great and topped off with a great dessert. Marnie, thanks for making this such a special night for us. Your restaurant is awesome

Delicious

By Italiangirl129 |

Food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Only complaint I have is it is so noisy it is difficult to hear everyone talk. My husband’s scallops were heavenly and my lasagna was delicious too.

Good choices for all kinds of appetites

By oenotraveler1 |

We dined at Siena Tavern recently with family that included a 3 1/2 year old. We were seated at a high tip table and initially thought it would work with the little one. But they brought a high top high chair and it worked well for us. The menu is full of choices for just about everyone. Starters, pizza, pasta and entrees that were of sizable portions. The food was prepared well and served in a reasonable amount of time. Our server was friendly and attentive. It was a good choice for a family get together.

Well-paced service, fantastic authentic Italian fare and great atmosphere

By Steve d |

We arrived a few minutes ahead of our reservation time, but were seated immediately. We dislike the waiting at the bar at some other restaurants despite having a reservation! I had the fantastic and creative coccoli, which means "caccons" in Italian; these were canola-oil fried pastry puffs with prosciutto and mozzarella on the side. Fantastically light and scrumptous! My wife had the grilled calamari. There was some mystery as to why she received only a half-portion but she wasn't that hungry having had a cocktail and snack at a prior venue. For the main course I can recommend the excellent Carne Pizza - plenty there and the homemade fennel sausage was terrific - a creative variant offer of the plain-vanilla pepperoni. My wife's Orecchiette (little ears in Italian) were even better! They were great mini-vessels for holding the excellent meat and sauce on offer with her dish. The only small disappointment with Siena was the exorbitant prices for wine - we had the least expensive, which at $57 was only average

Wonderful Service from Riley/Amazing Food and Atmosphere

By Loretta A |

We had wonderful and pleasant service from Riley. The food and drinks were awesome too. We highly recommend that you sit outside if weather is permitting.

Really Strong Menu

By Rabbits1977 |

Enjoued lunch here with a very good menu, very difficult to find something you dont like here Food was really good, service was great and a lively atmpsohere

Over cooked pasta

By GavinBlair2 |

It was more or less a night club serving over cooked noodles. The music is extremely loud which was fine, and we kind of expected that but we didn’t expect the food to not live up to the hype. The two pasta dishes had great flavor but the pasta in both was cooked way too long. It was like eating flavored mush.

Painful Taste

By Elizabeth637 |

Restaurant kitchens is unable to manage dietary restrictions and allergies. I visited the restaurant with my son after recommended by our hotel. Upon arrival, Juan, a nice waiter asked about allergies. I am allergic to dairy and gluten. They offer gluten free pasta, however, they use butter and cream on most of their dishes. Although Juan tried the kitchen to work on my needs, the cook/chef was reluctant to adjust dishes. So I ended up with hardly any options to choose. Either they use any sort of flour on the meats and fish that wouldn’t make them gluten free, they would flavor with unhealthy ingredients. Ended up asking for lamb shops at $59 that were not any special, with a side of gluten free pasta only with marinara sauce. The taste of the sauce was great. Consistency of pasta, overcooked. After walking out of the place I experienced a strong stomach ache which I only feel after butter is added to my food. I finished a beautiful night at Chicago inflamed and achy all night. I truly believe that a good chef is not one that only cooks flavorful by adding salt, pepper, butter and dairy to foods, but one that creatively cooks healthy tasty dishes without harming the client. My experience at this place was far from good after paying @200/night for me and my son for a lasańa for him, lamb shops with gluten free pasta side for me which sickened me, 2 glasses of wine (by the glass none good either).

Ordered the orriechette

By Katclan |

Ordered the orriechette (as a takeout) based on previous reviews. It was very salty, which overwhelmed any other flavors that may have been present.

Iron chef winner

By micheleg |

Had Fabio’s winning chicken. Very good and generous portion Bobolini dessert was enough for 4 people! Friendly service. Casual

KJ

By Cathy |

I love sienna tavern. The food is awesome but our waitress KJ made the experience that much better. So friendly and next time I’m here I will request her section!!

Good but a tad pricey.

By Chris_W_NOVA |

Good location in River North and close to the hotels downtown and near Michigan Avenue. Had appetizers, pizza and drinks during my visit here. Though on the pricey side, the food and drinks were very good. Got very busy when the after work crowd went home and the nightlife partiers showed up. Overall, a good night out.

Upbeat with some great menu items

By gondekp |

I was in town on business and stopped in on a Wednesday night around 8. I was solo and looking for a bar seat and there are a couple. The music was relatively loud, lights low, and popular vibe. The bartenders were very professional and knew everything about the menu. I started with a cocktail which was excellent. #6 on the list that night. Rye based. I really liked the attention to detail, nice orange peel and a clear rock of ice. I seared with the burrata, loved it. Burrata with a sweet and savory tomato jam, basil out and garlic bread. Would get this again in a heartbeat. I debated which pasta dish to get with several looking interesting. I thought I was going tomato based sauce but I tried the cacio e pepe which is one of my favorites and was interested in trying their version. The first bite was unremarkable but then I got down to the sauce. The flavor was very good. I just thought the pasta choice chitarra was a bit thick and heavy. I though I would ha e enjoyed it more with a more simple spaghetti. So it didn’t blow me away and I wished I had ordered differently. I had a couple glasses of wine (a super Tuscan) which was very good. 4/5 for me due to the pasta dish. I can see the bar area being extremely lively on a weekend night, definitely a fun place to get a drink. It was more formal than Bar Siena but still casual.

Not impressed

By FL_FOODLOVER999 |

I had some time to kill before meeting so stopped in for few drinks. Waited over 5 minutes at bar for service. It was little busy but not packed. I didn’t really care for bartenders attitude. Like she was doing me favor. I was little hungry so ordered pepperoni pizza with thought I’d eat couple slices and bring rest home My bad for ordering a thin crust ‘burnt’ pizza in a city known for deep dish. The crust tasted like bland saltines. I did take the rest to go but ended up in first trashcan I passed. The drinks were okay but then again hard to mess up Tito’s.

Sorry

By Iain G |

We booked for 615, confirmed at your request we would be there for 615, so when we were expected a table ready for us? Not ‘ it’s going to be ten minutes or so while we clear these people onto tables ‘. Left, hence the review.

Elevated yet accessible Italian-style restaurant

By IndyPend |

This is an elevated yet accessible Italian-style restaurant operated by DineAmic. It was noisy from happy customers, not loud music. The service and food were both excellent. New plates and new flatwear were provided with each course. The mocktail was very good and reasonably priced. There is an "optional" 3.5% surcharge that is disclosed in tiny font at the bottom of the menu. The noise and surcharge are my only complaints.

Great late night dining

By 4WheelVFR |

My Wife and I stopped in for a late night meal after a show at the HOB and were very impressed. It's just a short walk from House of Blues so it was very convenient for us that night. We were seated right away, treated to a friendly and efficient service thanks to Luke, and the food and cocktails were great. We will definitely return.

great late night drink

By acorvette4me |

we popped in after a busy day had phenomenal cocktails and a wonderful pizza. We plan to go for dinner next rip to Chicago

Wonderul Italian Food, Catered To Your Needs!

By Beth B |

Wow! A delicious dinner, but beyond that, impressive customer service. I had the best gnocchi ever, with truffle cream and fried sage. The gnocchi texture was beyond wonderful. My sister has dietary restrictions. She can't eat garlic or onions, a difficult ask in an Italian restaurant. Very impressively, our waiter Luke worked with her and the chef to find a dish that she would find delicious. They came through with a dish that she loved!

Great food

By Rob H |

Nice location in downtown Chicago. The restaraunt had great food and excellent service. I will definitely go back again.

Pizza for lunch in Chicago

By wayne e |

My wife and I had lunch on 6/19. Pizza Margarita was the best we have had and we have had Pizza all over the world including Naples. We don't care for deep dish Pizza so it was regular. Alex was our server. He was very knowledgeable about the menu including methods of preparation. Went back 2 days later for light lunch (sandwiches) with son and daughter in law. Food and service was very good again.

So good 🔥

By Vacation781432 |

Everything was great! The octopus is fantastic. The drinks are out of this world and the homade pasta was top notch. Dessert was even fantastic!

fresh pasta

By L H |

All the pastas are fresh, which is a big plus; the pappardelle is good, and the gnocchi is excellent. Salad ingredients are more thrown together than complementary, no bread provided. Overpriced Champagne served in coupes. Overheated space, loud when crowded, furnishings could be more comfortable, average service.

Great restaurant and wonderful food

By Traveling Coach |

On a recent trip to Chicago our local host suggested Siena Tavern. Glad she did. It was fabulous. Clearly this trendy and popular restaurant is favored by locals as well as tourists. It was crowded but we had a reservation for our group. Our server, Katyln, was fantastic. High energy and very attentive in spite of the packed full establishment. The menu is diverse and lovely but it does have a distinctly Italian flair. Lots of pizza and pasta choices but there are also a number of fish dishes on the menu. The grilled octopus and Wagyu meatballs were terrific there was enough to share. Other items we ordered included: Squid ink linguine with lobster, pan seared scallops, broiled salmon and braised short ribs. I was pretty traditional and ordered my favorite pasta dish, spaghetti Bolognese. It was quite good. Dessert choices included: pumpkin cheesecake, tiramisu and several flavors of homemade gelato. We all left the establishment stuffed and totally satisfied with our lovely meal. It was fantastic. And if you have a chance to ask for Katlyn (yes, it is spelled correctly), don't miss her. She is a superstar and the restaurant is first class.

Wow! Michael our server is

By Bonnie B |

Wow! Michael our server is on point. We had octopus, home made pasta and chicken. I give it all a 5 star rating. Its a modern, busy, upscale restaurant with outdoor dining. Its a big place but still feels cozy. Michael also surprised us with a vegan ice cream for our vegan friend!

Great Brunch, Nice Atmosphere

By LindyLa02 |

We came here for brunch and had a great time. The food was delicious with a friendly staff and nice ambiance.

Great food and nice vibe

By jtat |

we dined inside on a Sat, 9/26. started off with grilled octupus app, which was super tender and tasty. next up was 50/50 carne & mushroom truffle pizza and an order of squid ink linguine w/lobster tail, both were superb. last was a bombolini dessert which is very good and filling. our server Elmer was very efficient.

Loved It

By Skibby1 |

Started with three apps. Yes there were only two of us. The Octopus, Wagyu Meatball and the Burrata. They were all wonderful. The tomato Jam with the Burrata was fantastic. I had the lamb chops, flippin yummy. Done perfectly med rare. Jan had the short ribs, she loved them. The old fashioned was excellent too, did not skimp on the whiskey either. The service was great too. Ambience is average.

Solid food and very good service

By Cellenh |

The front desk gentleman was very professional and indulged me regarding where I wanted to sit which I really appreciate in these still slightly nervous times. My lobster roll was good--lobster tasty and nicely toasted and seasoned. My friend's lasagna was a little cold inside, unfortunately, but otherwise tasty. Service was very good--not too solicitous and not too stand-offish.

Disturbing meal

By JS A |

Chose to sit outside as dining room was way too noisy for a couple of seniors. Everything OK until a rather large rat ran under the patio tables. Left me really uncomfortable.

Amazing space, food and service

By Mixie0212 |

My 14 year old daughter and I popped in for lunch and were warmly greeted by the hostess and a few others. Our waitress was incredible. She made great suggestions including the pastry appetizer with burrata, prosciutto and truffle honey - an absolute MUST. We ordered a two piece and regretted it upon first bite. We had simple caesar salads with steak which was cooked to perfection. We were visiting from out of town and our lovely waitress made some dinner suggestions for us which she nailed!!! Great start to our visit. Very cool space.

wonderful experience

By tim m |

Nice bar area, lots of people but not crowded. Restaurant is beautiful, our table had the meatball (fantastic) and burrata (Really good). Waiter was always there but not pushy and made some great wine and food recs. Pastas were awesome, had a little pizza, ate so much i didn't try dessert but the ones i saw looked excellent. Keep it up!

Excellent Pizza

By Terry C |

We visited after leaving the theater district. Unfortunately at 10pm they add a DJ and turn up the music throughout the restaurant. The meal and ambiance were great but not being able to carry on a conversation due to the music is the only reason we couldn't give them 5 stars. We recommend you visit before 10pm.

Meh

By JRDurden |

This restaurant appears to be all show & no gusto. It’s located in a popular neighborhood that’s known for wealthy snobs but the final product just doesn’t please my appetite. I came here solely for the $35 truffle burger & while the presentation was amazing, the burger itself was merely decent & the accompanying truffles had literally NO flavor. I’d pass unless you were too inebriated to care.

Out of this world Italian food.

By MurphyTwins |

WOW, the food here is amazing. I am drooling thinking about it! Let me just say, I was in Italy a few weeks ago and the Truffle Gnocchi was JUST AS GOOD if not BETTER than the dish I had in Florence. It melts in your mouth and is so savory. It was so good, I tried to order it to go for dinner the next night but they were closed for a private event. I also highly recommend the carbonara in a jar, also a 10 out of 10. Served with layers of pasta, followed by pancetta, parmesan cream, spinach, black pepper, & topped with an egg yolk, the chef then shakes the jar right in front of your eyes to bind all ingredients & serves this decadently creamy pasta dish on the spot. I will definitely be going back ASAP.

Seriously Good Pasta

By Kermit753 |

Great experience. We had delicious appetizers, and the homemade pasta was amazing. My only quibble is it was a really dark restaurant for dinner. Like hard to read the menu dark. Our group still had a great time though, and the service was excellent.

All delicious!

By DBLJAM |

We tried a few items and all were delicious - Kale salad, meatball, gnocchi, bread, and cocktails. Service was fast and friendly. The decor is nice and it was quiet.

Great food and comfortable accommodations

By Chris M |

We stopped in the first time for late lunch and were very surprised by the overall experience. Pizza is very good as well as the salads. Menu has variety but not too overwhelming and service was on top of everything. The bomboloni donut desert is a must have!

Absolutely Delicious

By Jnix711 |

We stopped at the Siena Tavern on a whim... they had plenty of outdoor seating, and the weather was great for dining outside. Had the coccoli for an appetizer... wow, very good. But the gnocchi that I had was by far the best I've ever tried... a plate full of deliciousness. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, with a great sense of humor. Made for a great dining experience. Would definitely go back.

Highly recommend

By David M |

Excellent Wonderful service. Mike was are waiter. Friendly and fun. But the whole staff was just polite and happy. Food matched the service. Highly recommend.

Bachelorette dinner must!

By Sarah D |

From beginning to end we had an absolutely amazing experience at Siena. The manager and our server were phenomenal. They both went above and beyond to make my friend's bachelorette dinner special. The food, drinks, service, and ambiance were outstanding. Our server was so knowledgeable about the menu which made picking appetizers and entrees so easy. He also brought out a special dessert with a fun candle to end the night. We will definitely be back and we will be recommending Siena to friends.

Amazing Italian

By SteveNScottsdale |

This is a very cool looking restaurant, but the food outdoes the appearance. I had the orecchiette pasta with house made prosciutto sausage. Wow! Great flavors.

COMPLETE LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTATION

Eight of us went here for dinner, took a while to be seated even though we had booked. We didn’t know anything about this restaurant but it is very expensive, especially the wine menu. Cheapest bottle start at $56 and top price $799. So if you are willing to part with your $ this is the place to go. 2 shared starters & 6 mains $500🙈
