Very enjoyable breakfast during lunch hour! Staff was friendly, food very tasty. No wait and didn't feel crowded at all. Restuarant has a very iconic and homey feel. Will be back next time down that way during the week!

It was a cute diner. It was good breakfast food. I didn't really think it was anything exceptional, but would eat here again if in the area. My husband said the biscuits were the best he's had in a long time.

Our group of 6 decided to try the Silver Skillet since it had been featured on Diners Drive In and Dives. It is truly an old style diner that serves southern comfort food. The food was excellent as well as the service. It was the best meal we have had since we arrived in Atlanta.

When traveling we usually look at the internet to see where the Food Network folks have visited. This time it took us to The Silver Skillet near Georgia Tech where triple D had been. The nostalgia of course was great' I had the corn beef hash and eggs plate. The best part was talking to the owner about the triple D visit with Guy Fieri. Another place I would like to return to for lunch one day.

We decided to eat here since it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. We got there around 10:30 on a Thursday morning. No problem finding a seat. My family opted for French toast, chocolate chip pancakes and bacon while I went for a BLT. The kids pancakes were plate sized and very good. My husband said the French toast was really good and he considers himself a French toast connoisseur. My BLT was good but nothing special. The fries, however, were delicious. Seasoned steak fries is my best description. Family of 5 fed for $60 after the tip.

It took a few days to get my crew to eat here. Fortunately we finally got there! Ate breakfast for years at this biz "go to" spot. It didn't disappoint any of our group. True southern cooking... grits, biscuits and gravy- the whole nine yards. If you are from out of town, be sure to put it on your itinerary! The seats are still terrible, but the pictures of famous actors who have filmed there over the years makes up for it. Looks the same it did in the 80's and probably before that!

We had heard about the Silver Skillet and even seen it in the movie Talladega Nights. The country ham and red-eye gravy is a great place to start, but everything looks wonderful.

A nice little find! It takes you back in time literally. Great old diner serving a menu from days gone by. The Chicken and Waffles, omelette and biscuits were excellent. Fried egg cooked perfectly with strong bottomless coffee. We arrived at 10:00 am on Sunday and place was already packed. Thankfully we didn’t have to wait but by the time we left there was a wait. The Lemon pie is a must even if you have to take it home. Parking was not an issue. I would like to go back and try the lunch menu sometime.

Such a neat place for lunch! Small, old fashioned diner with great food and friendly waitresses! We had a cheeseburger, meatloaf dinner, chicken fried steak meal and vegetable plate and everyone enjoyed their food

Typical breakfast, meat and three type place. Decided to try it after seeing it on one of those Food Network shows. They went on and on about the country ham. Wasn't like any country ham I had ever eaten and wish I would have gotten something else. But that is a matter of taste I suppose. Everything else was fine. Solid breakfast place.

Great lunch! It’s like stepping back in to time in a good way! The decor looks to be original or close to it. Staff was friendly and food was great! Do yourself a favor a try their biscuits!

Wanted to find a local restaurant and found a gem of a place! Great history in the diner, breakfast was delicious, corned beef hash was excellent. Very busy place but worth the wait! Very friendly staff!

We drove an hour to meet my grandkids’ father and his girlfriend for breakfast. We got there first, and there were several booths available. We were asked if our entire party was present. I said not yet, and was asked to stand to the side and wait. When I asked why, I was told “because your entire party isn’t here”. I explained that we would take up the same booth either way, and I could order food for the kids while we waited. “I’ll see what I can do” was the reply. Meanwhile there was a large booth with one man in it! Eventually we were seated. The booths have torn fabric, and there is an electric outlet covered in duct tape. Sure, there are photos of celebrity visits from years ago, but the place is in need of maintenance. The other two members of our party arrived, and we ordered egg sandwiches. When they arrived, there was a very small portion of egg with a few shreds of cheese. Less than you’d get at another restaurant with Barrel in the name. Overall, I was seriously unimpressed with the experience and we will not be returning.

This place is definitely a throwback - in a great way! The place just has the feel of history and great food. I was there for a late breakfast on Saturday morning. The place was packed with a line of about 20 waiting outside to get in. Luckily, I was solo, so I got a spot at the "bar" right away. When I say "bar" , it is a counter, as there is no alcohol served. But that was okay, because the breakfast was amazing. Wonderful flaky baked biscuits, country ham, cheese grits, fresh orange juice, and coffee. I could not have been more happy with the very nice wait staff and wonderful food. I will definitely eat there again in the future!

We were looking for a great hometown breakfast place and the Silver Skillet did not disappoint! The staff is very friendly and the food is fantastic. We also really enjoyed seeing all of the celebrity photos from visits and movie shootings there.

I was downtown for a charity race and my group ate breakfast here afterward. We had to wait a short while but not bad on a Sunday morning. The servers are efficient. The food is plentiful and it's good. I had the basic eggs, bacon, potatoes and biscuit. Lots of food!!

The Skillet has been a downtown/Georgia Tech classic. Typical diner food, ok but not great. Breakfast is pretty good.

After reading about the Silver Skillet we were looking forward to an old school diner style breakfast. I was so disappointed in the canned corn beef served with my barely cooked over easy eggs. I expected real homemade corn beef. Hubbys omelet was average. His hash browns were also, uncooked potatos. Crazy to be charged $35.00 for sub par eggs and bad sides. We walked the 25 minutes back to our hotel and both of us were immediately Sick. Nope. I would not recommend breakfast at the SS.

We learned about the Silver Skillet from Diners, Drive Ins and Dives and it fits the Diner/Dive to a tee! It's an old fashioned owner on site diner that serves good food alongside southern charm. The biscuits were divine. You won't walk away hungry!!

It's a find, apparently an Atlanta dining institution! The ambience looked 60's. Tmenu was short and sweet, selections for breakfast and lunch. The hits on the menu: the greens and black-eyed peas were classic, very balance seasoning. Catfish: lightly breaded and fried, very well seasoned, very fresh non-fishy smell, crispy. Fried Okra - crispy and well seasoned. Catfish/Okra -- the pair rivals the English and Chips. The coffee was very fresh, dark brew to my liking. Service was excellent. Very inexpensive. Highly recommended.

You can always count on getting good food and having good service by the iconic restaurant. Biscuits are buttery and bacon is Smokey. You MUST have the coconut pie. Oh my goodness, so delicious.

I loved this place. It’s small and you will wait for a table but a great sign of a good restaurant. I was looking for a southern style breakfast and scored. The red eye gravy was fantastic and the has equally as good. My only issue was there was more I wanted to try but I guess that is why I need to go back. Definitely make the trip and do not let the line intimidate you if you get there late. If you are traveling with a big party plan on splitting up if you want to eat here. Space is at premium.

Have seen this place every time we are in ATL. Neat place, cool that it’s used a lot for movies. Food, service and coffee was good but to be honest I didn’t like paying $51 breakfast for my family of 4.

We have been going here since we moved to Atlanta. Good food, reminds me of going to diners as a kid with my grandparents. If you visit and want a fun time go there.

Just had lunch at this very quaint an old restaurant/Diner. Wake nurses were very friendly, my wife had the Swiss veggie burger and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Also very fresh and the french fries with my wife’s sandwich were very good. I had a salad as a side which turned out to just be some lettuce that a few scraps of carrot

My family ate here during while visiting Atlanta for the SEC Football Championship. The food and service was amazing. The restaurant is an old style diner. Great choice, highly recommend!

Great southern breakfast before heading to the airport! Very exceptional service. Our waitress Ms. Elise was super nice!

Came here for breakfast when staying at the nearby Courtyard Marriott. Iconic, unspoilt diner that has been in many films/tv programmes etc. Lots of southern breakfast choices - we went for the eggs, bacon, grits, biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were great, really light and we polished off the whole lot. Plenty of coffee to wash it down and friendly staff - what’s not to love!

A great tradition and a must visit when in midtown. This place is an icon it has been in countless movies and music videos.

The Southern breakfast was outstanding. 2 fried chops, eggs, grits and biscuits. Southern ham was great too but a little salty. Biscuits are the best I've ever had! Must try!!

The Silver Skillet was featured in a “Triple D” episode on the Food Network as well as a special on Atlanta restaurants on the travel channel. We visited just before lunch on our way to the High Museum of Art which is only an easy 20 minute walk away. The servers were friendly. Note that the lunch menu is only available after 11AM. I ordered the ham with red eye gravy, but substituted the cured for the country ham (too salty). The red eye gravy was different and added more flavor to the ham. The biscuits were very moist. The sweet tea was very refreshing. We took a slice of the pecan pie to go and it had an excellent buttery flavor and texture. One strange thing about the restaurant is that you must walk outside then through part of the kitchen to use the restroom.

We were in ATL for the day & went there based on the 'Diners Drive-Ins & Diners' show. I had chicken fried steak, which I would never order again. My daughter had the fried chicken breast - wasn't crispy at all. So the meal was unimpressive. However, because the service was so friendly, I'd be willing to give them another try & order something else. Fingers Crossed!

Best breakfast in town. Don’t look anywhere else. Everything delicious here but no pancakes. They have waffle...

We have been coming to this “dump “for over 20 years and will keep coming back. The retro vibe is fantastic. The servers are always smiling and are friendly and the food is always on point. It’s always an eclectic crowd in here but that’s half the fun! The breakfasts are always superlative, biscuits are excellent, pancakes are divine, and the service keeps us coming back. This place is an institution in Atlanta and you can see why. We took two “ virgin “ couples here who had never been here and they both raved about the food and service. We know no matter who we take care. They will always be impressed and we will keep coming back. Don’t miss when you are in Atlanta!

I've eaten here many times in my life but the food is still authentic and very good. One of the few places where you can still get "real" red eye gravy on your country ham (and that is not the sweet ham for those who don't know the difference!). Vegetables were really good as always and do not miss the Lemon Icebox Pie! Great place, Landmark, still doing things right!

Came here for a reunion lunch with some family in town. The chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. Chicken and waffles were definitely worth the trip. Also tried several desserts and highly recommend the lemon ice box cake and the blackberry cobbler. Also the wait staff were so wonderful and shared a lot of cool stories of the movies/tv shows they’ve shot here. Will definitely be back.

The Silver Skillet is an Atlanta institution, well known for their breakfast and famous as a location for any number of film and video shoots. It oozes character with its homey atmosphere and waitresses. While I think of the Silver Skillet as a breakfast joint, they also serve a pretty mean lunch. I recently ordered the Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and dressing, fried okra, steamed cabbage and dinner rolls, a total throwback, along with other entrees like pork chops and fried chicken, to what used to pass for Sunday supper. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal – the fried okra was absolutely perfect – although the dressing was salty and the cabbage was a little smelly. I wanted a slice of lemon ice box pie, but the waitress dropped the check before I was done and never returned, despite trying to get her attention. The Silver Skillet, like an aging matron, is showing its age. If you look too close, you’ll notice grimy floors, booths with rips and tears and nasty napkin holders on top of the table that haven’t been cleaned in ages. There’s lots of grime around the ancient signs above the pass through. I’m not sure why, but it doesn’t bother me that much and I can’t wait to return! Just over look it and enjoy the food.

My husband has the country ham breakfast meal which he had no complaints and thoroughly enjoyed. I did not each much but did get the homemade biscuit which was very good. The orange juice had a very weird taste. Our friend got biscuits and gravely with eggs and bacon which she enjoyed. Very cute and old school atmosphere. It is a very small seating area so I would call before arriving.

Me and my dad go here as much as we can! Of course he goes much more than I do, but we love his place. It is always our go to whenever he is working. Great service, yummy food. Love how friendly everyone is and love the southern hospitality. :)

Love this place. Great food and the servers are friendly and personable. It’s a diner style restaurant so it’s casual dining for the entire family. It can get crowded and you may have to wait but we were seated right away both times we visited. They have a lot of photos of celebrities that have visited. Popular place near Midtown.

I've bounced through quite a few diners in my travels around the States, but the Silver Skillet holds a special place in my heart. Good service, huge portions at great prices, and all of the diner staples made it a three-time visit while I was in Atlanta on business.

Stepping in the Silver Skillet you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Delicious, basic southern breakfast options are on the menu. I compared it to a nicer Waffle House. Food was delicious and didn’t disappoint. Also, very friendly and quick service.

A busy Saturday morning but we were seated soon after we arrived. The service was excellent and friendly as usual. The same can be said for the food. If you want old style southern food this is the place to go. Forget those froo froo pretenders and get the real thing.

An early morning breakfast run that was fantastic. This diner has been around for quite awhile yes, but the servers, the atmosphere and the food makes it all worthwhile! Best hot chocolate in town! Don't forget those biscuits!!! Omelets, grits, chicken sausage OMG-same foods you can get elsewhere but it we love the Skillet!

We were a little skeptical about eating here but I wanted to try it because of the ham steak I saw on travel channel (the last time we went with one of their suggestions we regretted it) We made it around 11am and were lucky to find seats close together (a group of 6) the seating is shall we say intimate (old school dinner) The eggs were well cooked, the grits were delicious, the biscuits were bangin! The ham steak...I must warn you the same way I was warned IT IS SALTY! My sodium intake has been taken care of for at least a month, thanks to that ham steak...it tasted very good, if you are hypertensive...avoid the ham. I'm not saying it's kinda salty, it's saltier than a person who had their parking space stolen at the last second salty Oh because the one large table was taken we sit in two tables...but the other dishes all looked good and I was told it was all delicious we enjoyed it

This retro 1950s restaurant is the real deal! Stepping through the door, you feel like you've gone back in time, and man, is it awesome! They serve breakfast and lunch, the BEST food you'll ever put in your mouth. My two sons and I went for brunch, and I had the corned beef hash, eggs, and grits, my younger son got an omelette, and my older son got the country-fried steak which he said was, hands down, the best he'd ever had. The biscuits are to die for! All three of us completely cleaned our plates! In the background, the top 40 from the 1960s was playing, and I couldn't help singing along, much to the amusement of the person in the booth next to us - lol. Now, it's not fancy at all, but not only is the food beyond delicious, the service is immaculate. So friendly, so accommodating, and just wonderful people all around. You do NOT want to miss eating at The Silver Skillet!

After dropping the girls back off at GA Tech we headed over to our favorite breakfast haunt in Atlanta. Since 1956 the Skillet probibly change much except its prices. Tender home made biscuits, corned beef hash, fried pork chops good old south eating. Lunch must be topped off with homemade ice box pie. Arrive early on the weekend line forms around 11:00. On premise free parking. I'm still full (in a very good way)

Great atmosphere. Felt welcome right away when I got there. Quick service. I ordered the turkey and dressing and it was awesome. The turkey was a little salty, but I didn't mind that. For my sides I got the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. They were awesome. I also tried one biscuit and one cornbread. The biscuit was my favorite. And for dessert I got the lemon icebox pie and it was really really really good. I'm going to be in ATL again in a few weeks and will be going again. Thanks!

Old diner leftover from the 50's and the food is WONDERFUL. Come hungry and get your fill-up! The waitress was friendly and nice and the place is usually packed with locals and passers-through. Breakfast is good -- flapjacks, great. My omelet had ground ham which when I saw it seemed weird but tasted good. The decor is original and they even have old time candy for sale - in old time display cases but it's not for show--it's just left over from being there. I bought Black Jack Gum and CANDY CIGARETTES!! Haven't seen those in years! ha. We love going here when we are in the area...but heed the sign posted - lock your car in the parking lot.

This is a perfect spot for an amazing breakfast. Unassuming from the outside but food is hot and delicious and served quickly. Biscuits and gravy are to die for. There was not a crumb left on anyone's plate.

I've driven by this nondescript building for many years, without stopping. Today I decided to stop for breakfast, and I'm very glad I did. This place is a blast from the past. A retro, comfy, old fashioned diner that is open for breakfast and lunch only. I dined on breakfast of fried pork chops, eggs, grits, and biscuits and gravy. Everything was absolutely delicious, and the server was a gem. I will definitely go back, and soon!

Loved this restaurant! Super cute and vintage on the inside, This restaurant is from the 50’s and has been in many tv shows and movies. Famous people have visited including mark wahlberg and guy fieri. The food was really good, I got a bacon egg and cheese biscuit and had browns. Not expensive either! There is parking on the side of the building for free, I went on a Monday morning and wasn’t super busy

Went there for breakfast after seeing on Diners,Drive-Ins, and Dives. We had the country ham breakfast. Ham is marinated overnight in their secret marinade. It was tender but super super salty. Eggs, grits, biscuits [which are frozen biscuits] are all just average and plate was like $14.00. Nice waitresses, but after tax and tip and coffee, breakfast cost us almost $40 for 2 people. Glad we tried it but probably won’t go back.

Always busy, but well worth it. Old fashioned diner atmosphere with good prompt and friendly service. Large portions and DELICIOUS!!

I had read a lot about this place and had been wanting to go for years. I went for their red eye gravy, which was supposed to be their specialty, and I can’t find it anywhere close to where I live. The country ham, biscuits, and eggs were good. The red eye gravy was good, but way too salty. I didn’t like the sawmill gravy on my biscuit at all. I got a side of country fried steak, and it was very good. I brought some red eye gravy home, and mixed a little coffee with some gravy and warmed it to a boil. It took most of the saltiness out and was very good. I would go back and try some of the other things on their menu.

This place is tucked behind the interstate, you wont see it from the highway but worth getting off for. Try the pork chops! I got two, slightly breaded and boneless. Yum, yum! With that order came a bowl of grits, biscuit, and 2 eggs. Son had the corned beef hash which was also very good. Service was great with a constant refill of coffee. Apparently they have had many celebrities come thru their door, the diner has been in some films. Can't wait to go back!

The service was great. The atmosphere was cool. But the food was not good. I got the Southern Breakfast that comes with pork chops. The chops were tough and not fresh. Almost like they had been reheated up. A layer of the batter was clinking to the chop like wet dough does when not cooked well.

My husband had the roast beef on the dressing and I had it on mashed potatoes it was delicious. All the sides were tasty and fresh. The potatoes real freshly mashed and the service was fantastic. The biscuits were light and airy. I would highly recommend this step back in time diner.

Great breakfast and lunch You must go if in midtown atlanta. Looks like you stepped back into the 50s. Rarely closed for movie or tv filming and they are closed on Mother’s Day.

Found this place by chance and did not know I was walking into a part of history! The decor is absolutely spectacular as in, it works for this place. I ordered the country fried steak w/ gravy, 2 eggs, cheese grits, and toast. It was all great!!! The service was perfect and the food came out fast but fresh. I look forward to re-visiting this establishment to try their lunch!

So, I had planned to stop at a regional "house" of breakfast, but my family convinced me to head to this place as we came through Atlanta. There was a 20 minute wait outside to go in, but once we made it into this time capsule, it did not disappoint. The staff were super nice! The food was devoured by the family. Those biscuits seemed to be the hit based off the rate at which they vanished among the kids. It was worth the stop and a nice change of pace. I would recommend and plan on stopping again as we cruise through Atlanta.

Nice staff, and delicious food that feels like it was homemade. Fast service too. Definitely worth the drive from Miami.

Had lunch with my wife and a newly found relative. I had the hamburger steak. It was....ok. Thin. Frankly, the meal was not memorable. The waitress was wonderful, efficient and very patient as we stayed a long time due to the lengthy conversation. I would like to go back during breakfast.

Cockroach cooked in the corned beef hash! I'm very disappointed because this was one of our favorite places to get breakfast in Atlanta. The wait staff comped our meal and were very apologetic. I was on the fence with writing this review, because I don't want to hurt the hard working wait staff. I really hope management takes this seriously, and deals with the cooking staff for other's sake. Unfortunately, we will not be able to stomach going back.

Breakfast is always the BEST!!! Everything is always delicious and fresh, and the atmosphere is delightful. When I’m in the area, I always make a stop. Will be back again!

it is a very great experience and the food is great. if you ever go there on a Friday please ask the cashier about the kid in the bacon costume.

flat undercooked pancakes....was given frozen butter and 3 small pods of cold syrup...greasy tasting pancakes with a hint of onions...the window blinds were open and sun blinding us..being disabled (bad shoulder) kept me from closing the blind as one waitress suggested..she ended up having to close it...she moved to the next table to close their blinds and told them it "isn't rocket science to close a blind", what an insult, I bet she didn't spend 12 years in college earning several degrees as I have..GO DUCKS! never felt that insulted in a greasy spoon diner before...maybe I need to go back to college and earn a degree in CLOSING BLINDS like she must have done, it isn't rocket science, but for some of us Senior Citizens waiting on shoulder replacement surgery, it sure feels like it..BTW---the Silver Spoon needs to shut down and do a heavy duty cleaning, get the dust off the blinds, the bugs out of the corners

Silver Skillet was our choice for breakfast after picking up our daughter and son-in-law at the airport when they return d from their honeymoon. All four of us had near perfect breakfasts. I had chicken sausage, fried eggs, grits, and biscuits with coffee. Our son-in-law had hash, scrambled eggs, grits, and biscuit with coffee. My wife chose an omelette with gravy, biscuits, and hot chocolate.and our daughter had fried chicken and waffles with biscuits. This is simple food done perfectly. Service was excellent.

Nothing fancy. No crepes. No smoothies. Eggs, Bacon, Grits Toast, Biscuits and Coffee. Good meeting place between Downtown and Buckhead. Never a bad meal.

I always do my research on local places that make good breakfast .... this one sure does it !! I had read about the “ killer chicken and waffles” and “yeap the reviewers were right!!! The best I ever had..... crispy tasty juicy fried tenders on top of a yummy homemade fluffy waffle.... slap on some butter and syrup and boom the best!!!!! Biscuits are pretty good too and some Crispy bacon ..... staff very nice and makes you feel like a homey place.... noticed the frame of Guy fiery on the wall and some memorobilia of celebrities pictures ... the menu had lunch too which looked and sounded amazing!! Can’t wait to go back ....

My son and I waited just a few minutes for a Saturday morning table. We ordered omelets, grits, and biscuits with coffee and orange juice. The biscuits were especially good.

Serving southern cooking since 1956, the Silver Skillet has hosted politicians, actors and actresses, tourists and locals through the years. The food is consistently good and the service filled with Southern charm.

I’d have rated this place 5 but Trip Advisor wouldn’t let me for some reason. Fabulous find serving great breakfast. Was busy and that’s always a great sign. Biscuits were amazing. Loved it

This place is comfortable, the food here is just delicious. The atmosphere is like home, very calm place to have breakfast and the staff is kind. Recommend it

This place has great diner food. Folks that don’t like it just don’t appreciate diner food. The country ham and red eye gravy are the best I’ve ever had, and mine at home are pretty good. The biscuits are exceptionally light. The butter and cream are real, not imitation. The friendly service is real too. Oh, and go to the bathroom. Just do.

We walked to this nice little restaurant for breakfast. The service was very good and the food excellent. It is an older establishment, but clean.

Stopped here for breakfast on our way back home after a several state business trip. I had the most amazing fried chicken biscuit I have ever eaten. The place was packed and it's not very big but we quickly found a couple of spots at the counter. The staff was friendly and the food came out really fast. I saw another customer with a piece of pie and even though I couldn't eat another bite, I had to have one. So I got a frozen pie to go. The whole family ate it when we got home and it was an unanimous hit!

This little place was a half mi walk from our hotel, found it through trip advisor and it does not disappoint! Amazing food with a southern twist, highly recommend the southern breakfast!

We have been to this restaurant numerous times and enjoy the environment and nostalgia which accompanies the facility. It has been utilized for movie sets and back drops, old style diner with all the fixins'. The food is only average - while others rave about the food we have had better. The breakfast and lunch menu is expansive with many options ... home cooking.

Corned beef hash cooked to perfection, just the right amount of crisp. Best biscuits ever. Place was busy, wait was relatively short, service is quick, tables are bussed quickly/clean and dry for the next customer. Waitress and cashier were very nice. Plenty of parking. Specials on the wall were not in play on Saturday. Still excellent selection of items on the menu. Hardest part picking what you want to try first.

Better than average biscuits but not the greatest of all time. You can't eat the grits with a fork they could stand to be a little thicker. Great staff !!

Silver Skillet provides a classic southern breakfast with all the favorites on the menu - grits, eggs, country ham, red eye gravy, homemade biscuits and more. Read the menu for the history of the Silver Skillet and take a moment to look at the pictures of celebrities that have come for breakfast or lunch. The waitresses are efficient and very friendly; have a conversation with them and you'll learn even more. Located just north of the Georgia Tech campus, close to Midtown and Atlantic Station. Enjoy!

Great 50's diner with great food. I've been eating there since I worked in the area some 50 years ago. It's a nostalgic place, changed little over these years, thank goodness!

My husband and I were in the area and had read about this restaurant. We moved to Atlanta in December 2018, so we are trying to visit all of the landmark places and the Silver Skillet is one of them. We arrived and there was a line outside, but after asking the people in front of us, if we needed to put in our name, we learned that we just needed to stand in line and wait. So, wait we did. It took about 20 minutes, but soon we were seated. Our server was very nice and she made sure that our meal was served fast and how we requested it. We enjoyed our first visit and will be sure to return next time we are in the area.

Fried catfish> Great :) Everything else was good (eggs, waffles, pancakes etc) *They close pretty early, and if is snowing FORGET IT, you're not going to find it open. Or any other place in Atlanta. :/

In a changing world, this is an Atlanta tradition since the 1950s. There was a bit of a wait, but not overly long. The service was prompt and friendly, and we didn't wait long until our food was served. You would think that breakfast would be easy to get right, but I have had some lousy renditions. NOT at the Silver Skillet, though. The biscuits were hot and flaky, the gravy with just the right amount of pepper and a great consistency. The eggs were cooked to perfection, and the crispy bacon had a smokey flavor. It's a great hometown experience in a city that has maintained its southern roots. Well, at least at the Silver Skillet!

Delicious diner food! My sister and I stopped by after a trip to IKEA for a late lunch. Note: They only serve breakfast all day and burgers/sandwiches on Saturdays. I had a ham and cheese omelet with biscuits and gravy and my sister had the patty melt with onion rings. Both dishes were delicious. The biscuits are flaky and melt in your mouth. I’d love to go back to try the chicken fried steak and banana pudding. Fun, hole-in-the-wall throwback diner that’s home to filming and several celebrities have stopped by, too. Yum!

Went on a Sunday morning. Had to wait in line but it was well worth it. Large portions, fast service and a historic venue. Has been there since the 1950's. We'd highly recommend this diner.

Great friendly old diner restaurant. It is small inside but feels roomy. Booths are very roomy. This establishment has been the set for many movies. Fast, friendly service. We had breakfast. My hubs had the Chicken Fried Steak with gravy. It was fabulous...much like my own country cookin'. I had the 2 egg breakfast with grits, biscuits and sausage. Amazing!!!! Prices are reasonable. For the two of us the ticket was $35.00 which included the tip. All in all, a definite plus in my book. Great place to visit for breakfast in midtown Atlanta.

We live in Atlanta and make regular visits to the Silver Skillet for a country ham, grits, eggs & biscuits breakfast or fried chicken or pork chops, fried okra, real mashed potatoes and homemade pies & banana pudding! The waitresses are friendly, the decor authentic diner, and everything is prepared fresh. Just pay attention to the hours. Breakfast only on Saturday.

Had breakfast here two weeks ago. Enjoyed it very much. Those in our party had various menu items such as French toast, ham & cheese omelet , scrambled eggs, grits, biscuits and bacon. Two eggs scrambled, grits, biscuits and bacon was $8.45. The food was very good and so was the service! Would definitely eat here again!

Boarded a plane in Austin, tx and got to Atlanta around 7. We were hungry and had a couple of hours to drive. We called to see if the Skillet was open and they were. This place is a little rundown but located on I-75 and has tons of ambiance. Our waitress was Tabetha. She was outstanding! I got the 2 eggs with potatoes and ham with red eyed gravy. My wife got the 2 eggs with grits. Totally great food and a waitress named Tabetha.

We heard about The Silver Skillet on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. While vacationing in Atlanta recently we decided to give it a try. It was crowded but the hostess was efficient and we didn't have to wait too long. The staff was very friendly, the food came quickly and the environment was fun. Yes, it's a diner, but also a dive. It's kinda grimy and old, but that is what made the experience so fun! For those who are soda drinkers, they do not have fountain drinks- they serve a can with a cup of ice. So no refills :) The food was so good! And they accommodated requests without a problem- which is always a huge plus for me. My meal was supposed to come with a biscuit or toast but they substituted a pancake instead. Which let me add, their pancakes are AWESOME!!! Some of the things we tried included, ham (sweet or salty is available), grits, gravy, eggs, pancakes, biscuits, chicken salad and corn beef hash. The corn beef hash was perfect! I'll be thinking about it for years! We loved it so much we made one more stop there on our last day in Atlanta. Overall, it was a great experience.

I ordered 2 French toast breakfast and 2 chicken sausage sides. They came to over $30. What I received was the smallest French toast, as if made out of wonder bread, not the thick bread and 2 sausage links, which is 6 links short, according to the menu you are supposed to get 4 links per side order for $7 each side order. I could’ve done this for much cheaper and more food. I will never come here again.

So imagine Clint Eastwood sitting in here having breakfast every morning before they go to set this Diner has been used in so many movies but more importantly the breakfast! The ham with the bone in is the saltiest piece of meat you've ever had but dipped in the red-eye gravy put on a biscuit with grape jelly the combination is to die for the waitress taught us how to eat it you got to have scrambled eggs and grits with it and I'm telling you if you can handle the salt it is the back breakfast on the planet so is the chicken and biscuits highly highly recommended

We visited Silver Skillet on a Sunday morning around 9 a.m., got a table immediately, and apparently beat the rush. After we were seated, group after group came in and each group waited several minutes for tables. Try not to sit near the door, because the waiting patrons will crowd you as you eat. The food was good -- I tried the coconut pie (billed as a specialty) and it was decent -- less sweet than other versions I've tried, maybe with some sour cream? There was a definite tangy quality to the pie that was not bad at all. My husband had the two-egg breakfast with patty sausage, biscuits and cream gravy. The food was good -- not greasy, not too salty. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was kind of unremarkable, but the diner atmosphere was fun.

We visit the Silver Skillet every time we come to Atlanta. Wouldn’t miss it for anything. Reliable, tasty food reasonably priced. Love the chicken and waffles.

What a fun old diner. Our server was a great older gal with a super smile. The food was delicious. They had some of the best biscuits I've ever eaten out at a restaurant. They also were very accommodating of my daughter's many allergies and she was able to enjoy her meal too.

We saw that it had been featured in many shows, movies, etc., so we were intrigued to go there for Sunday brunch. This place did not disappoint us one bit. It looks like a restaurant from the 1950s or 60s, even with candy from that era! The food was so delicious, particularly the biscuits and the omelettes, but really everything, even the grits! We did have to wait, but just a few minutes, as the line moved pretty quickly. Prices were very fair and the waitresses were super friendly. We even saw Teresa the owner working hard, despite being a celebrity in her own right! Very much recommend this restaurant.

Went on a breakfast date with my boyfriend and we was not satisfied at all. The glasses were scratched very badly and looked very unsanitary to drink from. While waiting on waitress to take our order, we overheard her telling one of the customers that may come all the time or a friend that she’s going to sprinkle poison in his food. I don’t know if it was a joke or something but where I’m from we don’t joke like that especially around new comers. We waited maybe 10 mins to get our food which was pretty fast to me and the steak was cold, biscuits hard, and the gravy was cold also. My boyfriend didn’t eat anything but We still paid and tipped because we don’t believe in not paying for things that we received. Just the etiquette that we was taught. I’m sorry but I won’t recommend anyone to this place

Visited here looking for a southern style breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Lots of choice, great staff and plenty of nice food!

Just around the corner from where we were staying was this very busy restaurant, caters for breakfast and lunch. Lots of memorabilia around the walls including photo's of famous patrons with the owner. Serves are huge so don't forget your appetite.

When planning our trip to Atlanta we made it a point to come and have a meal at Silver Skillet. Definitely did not disappoint! We had breakfast here. I had the country ham with the red eye gravy. Very tasty very tender. The grits were the best I've had anywhere. Fabulous food , great service a winning combination for us! Come enjoy a delicious meal and welcoming southern hospitality to match. You won't be disappointed!

Visiting Atlanta from New England and decided to take a 15 minute walk from hotel to Silver Skillet. My husband and I love diners and this was certainly worth the walk on a gorgeous Sunday morning. Surprised we were able to be seated immediately without a wait (at home we would be confronting a LONG line). Seated ourselves at a cozy booth and were immediately greeted by our waitress with hot coffee. The menu is large but we settled on omelette, sausage and eggs/bacon with grits (don’t have grits in NH!). Food was hot and promptly delivered. Waitress was attuned to the fact we didn’t order bread - had a great conversation as she was also choosing a lo-carb eating style. Would recommend this diner for anyone who enjoys a great home style breakfast.

We were very lucky to be able to walk to this restaurant. We were also lucky to grab breakfast before they closed for the Labor Day holiday. The service was fast, and the good was gpod!!

Curiosity is what brought colleagues here. Lots of mixed reactions to the classic restaurant. However as with many classics they have their days where things are not what is expected! Service had order a little mixed up but food was ok.

Had breakfast here after attending a wedding downtown the night before. Short wait in a line outside for a table. Food was delicious. .especially loved their fluffy biscuits.

Being a southern girl thought I'd see how close to true southern food it really was. As I've learned not all places that say southern cooking really are. And that's a shame. I can say this is the real deal. They have the Best biscuits I've ever eaten. Wanted to try the country ham with red eye gravy. I've read in other reviews how salty it is. It is southern country ham. Lol. It's always salty. I expected to be thirsty for hours after eating it as is usually the way of country ham. But it didn't leave me thirsty at all I enjoyed my entire breakfast. Had biscuit & gravy, fried eggs & Coffee. Had some good conversations with the waitresses. When you go check out all the pictures of famous people that have enjoyed a meal there. And the films that the silver skillet has been in. A lot of history. Be sure to read up on it before you go. I will be back. Hope to see you there!

They serve breakfast and lunch. We were at the end of serving hours but food was still very good. It is a diner type establishment; lunch plate has meat and two sides. Our bunch enjoyed fried catfish, chicken fried steak and pork chops. Service was efficient and friendly.

This place was amazing! Best burger I’ve had in awhile and I love how much history this diner has! Very retro environment.

Had breakfast there while on vacation. Had heard about from several sources including Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. Excellent hash browns and the smokiest bacon I've ever tasted! Highly recommended for good food and a dose of nostalgia!

A very traditional Southern style diner which has had many celebrities comes in. The interior is original 1950’s. You can have fried chicken, gravy, biscuits, grits etc. and all items were tasty. Worth a visit.

As English, it blew us away. The best of America. Got taken there by locals. Apparently it is the place "everyone goes". Had breakfast. Eggs cooked very way. Service with a smile. Still talking about it. Worth flying back across the Atlanic to visit it again. An everyday place but legendary.

It felt like we were back in the 50'however the food and service is delicious. I am not eating meat so I was concerned about vegetarian options. I ordered the veggie omelet and added peppers and cheese. It was full of veggies chopped up nicely and was delicious! My husband got the corn beef hash and ate every bit of it!

My hubby and I visited looking for a diner breakfast and a diner breakfast from the Silver Skillet we got! The Silver Skillet is a true diner experience that comes with movie/tv history. Several tv shows and movies have filmed here which is a fun little tidbit when visiting. We had breakfast: bacon, eggs, toast, pancakes, grits, and Belgium waffles. It was all delicious!! Our server was polite, friendly, and attentive. We would definitely return to The Silver Skillet again when we visit the Atlanta area; it’s a piece of Atlanta worth being a part of.

I go every time I’m In Atlanta. Restaurant there since 1950s. Like stepping back in time. Staff knows regular customers. Great service! Used often for tv/movies. Only breakfast and lunch. Best biscuits!

This diner took me back to my childhood. Decor has been preserved with lots of memorabilia on display. The food was good southern cookin. My favorite was watching the staff interact with one another. It was evident they were a work family who loved being together. A very nice way to begin our day in Atlanta. (A couple things to note...I think there was parking available at a side lot and restrooms are located through a kitchen entrance at backside of restaurant not accessible through main dining room.) We would definitely return.

Chose this due to its online reviews but rounded the corner and wondered what we were in for. A little worn, 1958 decor, not retro, more like the original but the place was packed which was promising. Food and service did not disappoint! Chicken & Waffles was killer! Our server was the best - very attentive, helpful, with a genuine smile. She (like the vintage signage) was the real deal. Highly recommend!

Silver Skillet offers up a bit of everything... good food, nostalgia and movie history! Many great movies had scenes shot at this restaurant and it offered up enough good food that even Guy Fieri had to check it out! This place offers up classic diner delights at exceptionally low prices! Love this spot!

This is a diner so with that said its not a gourmet breakfast, but it is very good and staff are very friendly. Love the pancakes and biscuits and gravy.

My daughter said this was the best breakfast she has ever had. Old fashion diner has great food. Don’t miss it.

We ate here on Saturday. We were there at 7:50 am. They do not open til 8am. But there was a line. Let's just say upon opening there were only three tables available after we got seated. Waitress was amazing, food was delicious and satisfying. Overall we'd eat here again. I got the Omelet with peppers, chicken sausage, and onion.

Simply a great place to eat breakfast in Atlanta. My wife and I eat here often when we come to the big city. The food is always good and the staff is awesome. Victoria was our waitress on Friday morning and she did a great job. She told us the skillet had been closed for several days while they did some film work inside.

Having now spent the week trying out a bunch of the historical Atlanta haunts, many of which were a bit ho hum, I’m glad the Silver Skillet lived up to the hype. The fried catfish, collards, and sweet potato were all on point. Banana pudding and peach cobbler I ate in the restaurant were both delicious, and the lemon ice box pie which I got to go made for a nice midnight snack. Parking was easy, staff were friendly, prices were reasonable, and certainly the “step back in time” atmosphere created a meal that you should experience for yourself.

In the 80's, I ate here at least once weekly with my colleagues. Then, I changed jobs, and lunch at the Skillet was no longer convenient. Today's lunch was a walk down memory lane. The only change is the prices. If you want the best fried chicken in Atlanta with great service, go to the Skillet.

Atmosphere was entertaining but I’ve had better breakfast at Waffle House. I didn’t see any place for restrooms. Just average food to me.

The menu is pretty straight forward. I have never heard of this place before but the food was really fantastic. They serve breakfast all day. If that is not what you care for then they have the lunch menu burgers etc. Service was quick, parking very easy and easy to find the place. Right off I-85. I can't wait to return and bring my wife with me on the next visit, I think she will like it. Portions are good sized.

Classic diner, filled with character and charm. Everyone who works there is marvelous and kind. Exactly what it promises, which is a welcome relief in a town full of imposters. Consistent as the earth turns.

I've eaten here many times, usually for breakfast. Good, basic American and Southern breakfast food. Service is good, and the portions are generous.

A really good breakfast, fast! I mean lightening fast and hot. Good service. Never caught the servers name and didn't know to just choose a seat until told. Not a big deal. Convenient right off of I-75/85. If you blink you'll miss it so look left.

I was looking forward to the biscuits, the travel channel made them look so good. The place was perfect. A tiny little dinner with retro seating. It was easy to find and the people where nice. But the food fell short. I love biscuits and gravy, I could eat them with every meal. The biscuits where good but the gravy was cold and all the griddle food was burnt. Maybe the lunch selection would be better, I wish I would have had time to try the pie.

Came here years ago with some friends. Great experience then and now. Fantastic french toast and biscuits and gravy we're delicious. Very cool interior... stepping back in time. Definitely recommend!

Went to order lunches for co-workers and myself Thursday, 3/14/19. This was such a disappointment, There were no onions to add to the hamburger steak, not the end of the world, but onions were part of the meal description, and the main reason for ordering this. No one mentioned there were none when the orders were placed. The meat itself was so hard it was inedible and had to be thrown out. I ate breakfast at the Roswell location years ago, and it was delicious, but it has not been convenient to get back to that area. I have wanted so badly to eat there again, and was so delighted when I started working downtown and most days passed this location on 14th Street thinking i would go. You cannot imagine the disappointment in the food and the price was just not justified at all. I am not sure I will ever go back, but of three meals we ordered, none were edible, and I have three very disappointed co-workers. Maybe we should have gone in earlier or maybe just for breakfast.

Diners were popular when I was growing up in the 50's and 60's so it was great seeing that they still exist and the Silver Skillet is a great one. The staff is warm and friendly and the decor does take one back in time. The location has been used in many TV shows and movies. I won;t attempt to detail them as you can google to get that info. The menu items are basic breakfast victuals and some southern style specialties. During the week lunch items are offered and I am sure they are just as good. The coffee is hot and the waitress (although busy) keeps a watchful eye on the contents of you mug to be sure it does not disappear. Easy to get to and a parking lot to the side of the building. When we next have an occasion to overnight in Midtown Atlanta we'll begin our day again at the Silver Skillet.

The food was good but we went on the weekend and they only do breakfast on the weekends. I was disappointed because I wanted to try there dinner items.

Closest breakfast where I was staying. Good variety on the menu, need coffee, let's go... I got the veggie omelet w/biscuits and gravy included side and a decaf. I am particular about omlets... I want them firm and hearty, not runny, not fluffy. This one was perfect. Veggies inside were cooked through, but you could tell they were freshly cooked. It had the right veggies for an omelet, no broccoli or wrong textured choices; just onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes with the perfect amount of each. The egg was lightly browned, thinly cooked, and layered. The portion size was perfect, felt like a solid 2-jumbo egg omelet. Absolutely one of, if not, the best omelets I have had in a very long time. The biscuits were crusty and fluffy. The gravy was peppered perfectly with not meat, but a slightly smoky flavor. A+. Coffee was fresh (even the decaf), hot and big. Service was friendly and fast. Decor was aged and had the often-seen old self-printed cute sayings hanging everywhere, but it was clean. It was not fancy, not expensive (I paid $12 for everything, including a 2nd 20oz coffee for my wife, like my decaf), and right on time! It is good to see that they haven't fallen off since receiving an award in 2015 or 2016 (saw it framed on the wall).

When you visit Atlanta you must visit the Silver Skillet. A family owned restaurant since 1956. Many movies have been filmed on this site. It’s open only for breakfast and lunch and closes at 2:30. We went one Day for breakfast and went back again the next day. It’s a rather small place, clean and excellent service. Very friendly staff. Free parking! You don’t see that in Atlanta. Highly recommended!

Standard diner breakfast food in a traditional diner setting. Great local place. Service was quick and food came quickly despite being very busy. Tables were reasonably spaced for COVID 19 requirements.

We were in town on a business trip and the food was so good that we visited both days we were in town for business. In addition to the GREAT food, the service was decent (understandable for a packed diner). Our table of seven really enjoyed the food on both visits. For anyone looking for breakfast I HIGHLY recommend this Veteran friendly restaurant.

Visiting our son in Atlanta and he took us to this wonderful diner for breakfast. Friendly staff and great breakfast. Portion sizes perfect.

This little restaurant is infamous and quite a place; I love nostalgia, and this place is it. From the worn, vinyl seating, to the decor on the walls, it is quaint. And, the food is wonderful! I had one of the BEST chicken fried steaks I think I have ever eaten. I SO wanted dessert - they rave about their banana pudding which is a BIG item in the south - but I had NO room. We plan on heading there again this year on our travels. Check it out online - happens to be famous as one of the many stopping places for celebrities who frequent the area. Be aware, their hours are minimal so check out their website.

Went on a trip with the kids and it was worth the stop. Plenty to choose from including catfish breakfast (best catfish I’ve had in years). Guy Fiere loves it and we see why. Credit cards are accepted but they close at 2pm!!

Great place for a good old fashion southern homemade breakfast in downtown Atlanta. Their red eye gravy is on point.

Great diner with good food. Their menu had a history of all the movie productions/tv shows and whatnots the diner has been a part of. Good little bit of history there and enjoyed reading it while waiting for our breakfast. Breakfast was good. I ordered the skillet country ham, was warned it was “a little salty” but it was good. Not like the usual country ham I was expecting. It was huge. My daughter ordered a chocolate chip pancake which she said was yummy. I’d go back again.

A visit to the silver skillet is like time travel. The servers are nice, the menu is classic greasy spoon diner fare (in the best way). The decor, while dated, gives the Silver Skillet a charm that you don't get from the sterile, mass appeal corporate places.

Old school diner. We went on a weekday around 1:00pm. No wait, good service. Food arrived quickly and hot. Chicken and waffles are awesome. Hubby ordered pork chop and grits and it was good. Not as good as chicken and waffles.

Had great service and the food wasn't bad, just nothing to go crazy about. I was just in town for training, but if I were to stop in GA again I wouldn't mind stopping by, so overall it was decent. Loved the horses on the wall.

Everything was so good! From the French toast and pancakes to the moist and fluffy biscuit. Delicious for and the nicest staff ever! Will be back if we visit Atl again.

Felt like I stepped back in time! Building was old but don’t let that fool you. Breakfast is delicious! There biscuits are amazing as well as there pancakes. There whole menu makes it hard to chose a dish because you want to eat everything!

We stopped in here for brunch and chicken & waffles was fantastic! Corn beef hash and eggs also great. Also ordered the French toast skillet which was delish. Highly recommend this place! Really cute retro atmosphere too. Do not miss the chicken and waffles!!

We ate here after a week of crappy conference breakfast. This place is a must. Food was good and service was even better.

After we recently saw this place on Diners, Drive Inns & Dives just before we came to fly out of Atlanta heading to Austin, Texas we knew we had to give it a try. We decided to eat breakfast for lunch and we were not disappointed. Everything was fresh and very tasty. The staff and service was both excellent. If you're ever in Atlanta this is a place you must try!!

As the title suggests, I deeply regretted the choice I made when I visited this restaurant. I chose a basic eggs, biscuits and pork chops combo (which sounded good to me at the time), but I should have gone with something fancier when I saw everyone else's orders come through. My meal was not bad at all, just not as good looking as everyone else's, almost drab and dull. Overall, I can't wait to go back and order something a little more lively, like their famous chicken and waffles!

Found this while driving around and decided to try it for breakfast. Super skillet omelet, chicken and waffles. All the meals that we have was great and plenty of food. Had to get a box to take left overs back. Lots of history with this little place, food network history there as well

If you have that greasy spoon diner craving, this is another place in Atlanta you should go to. The food is good (and what you expect form a diner) and service is usually fast (which is good because there's often a crowd there).

We had seen the Silver Skillet on the Food Network and we had to pay a visit. We both had their cheeseburgers and fries. A chocolate shake to top it off. The food was good and so was the service. Our next goal...breakfast.

Stopped by for breakfast on a recent visit to Atlanta. We've been to the Silver Skillet several times and the breakfasts are good and filling. This diner is always crowded so don't be surprised if you have to wait. All the egg dishes come with grits but hash browns are available for extra $. Enjoyed the ham and egg scramble and enjoyed the biscuits that came with. Free parking is available which is a big plus in Atlanta.

Best southern breakfast ever staff is polite and friendly ,ate there 2× amazing cant wait to go to Atlanta

I had heard about the Silver Skillet and seen it on TV for years and since we were visiting a nearby business it was the perfect time for a lunch visit. The ambiance is great as is the food. My wife had pancakes, I had the patty melt and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Please Silver Skillet management/owners spend some money and do something about the bathrooms. You have to go outside and then back in another door directly into the kitchen. This is not a good situation at all.

It's an old-timey diner. The simpler your order, the more likely you'll be pleased. Days are numbered so appreciate it while you can.

This small diner has been an Atlanta fixture for decades and after eating there I can see why. The food was very good. Nothing fancy, just good and tasty diner plates. Service was excellent. It is small and stays busy, but they turned over the tables quickly and there wasn't much of a wait.

We wanted to try a good southern restaurant for breakfast and we found our place. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had the catfish with 2 eggs over medium, biscuits and gravy. Fried catfish filets were plentiful, but they were so good and tasty I ate them in a flash. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The biscuit and gravy was a great compliment. My wife loved the cheesy grits. Our server was very friendly. She was also very attentive. I was such a pleasing experience, I suggest you give the Silver Skillet a try.

I've only been here twice, but it's easily in my top 3 Atlanta restaurants. The service is great, and the food is even better! Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had, and the blackberry cobbler is not to be missed.

I was born & raised in Atlanta, but I’ve never been to this place before. My husband & I stopped in this morning because he wanted some country ham. A lot of the reviews said it was too salty but my husband said it melted in his mouth. He said he’s never had ham that tasted like that before. I ordered the chicken & waffles & it was good as well. I’ll be back.
Overrated
While in Atlanta for a wedding, we decided to try this restaurant for breakfast. Very disappointing. The omelette's were small and the meat in them was extremely dry and well done. We had the sausage and the ham . The chicken biscuit was a joke . The chicken was a pressed piece of chicken about 1/16" thick and they slapped on a piece of processed American cheese. My husband went to the restroom (which by the way you had to go outside and back in through the kitchen). There was a printed sign stating the lock was broke, which looked like it had been up for a while.. I would not suggest this restaurant....
