A place with flair

Just went their by chance, walking through Williamsburg, seeing this lovely place and decided to have an early lunch. We had the burger with homemade fries and the kale salad, both were really good, especially the kale salad!

Great brunch

Love their spicy scramble-eggs here. And the sandwiches. Nice atmosphere and service. And for sure Bedford Ave is Really fun, a crucial escape from Manhattan.

Lovely atmosphere, eggs, and service!

My boyfriend and I are visiting from Australia. We had the brunch buffet and the girl who served us was lovely and the buffet was delicious and just $16. The scrambled eggs were phenomenal. So fluffy and delicious. Can't complain about the cheese and the French toast either! Atmosphere was great and the place is decorated beautifully.

Cute and cozy brunch spot

Super cute brunch spot, highly recommend it if you are looking for a nice cozy spot to chill and chat with friends. We were suppose to go to rabbit hole which was on the same block. The wait there was 1 hour at around 12:30pm so we decided to walk around to wait but then stumbled upon this place. There was no wait so we decided to give it a try. It's French Algerian cuisine but their brunch menu is pretty small but the one thing that caught our attention was that they have brunch buffet. It looks like majority of the diners are doing the brunch buffet so we decided to try that as well. Comes with coffee and fresh orange juice. They brought out bread and perfectly cooked buttery scrambled eggs, cooked so well that no salt and pepper was even needed. Everything else is self serve, we go up to the counter to get. Not sure if it changes daily but when we went there was pastries, cheesy zucchini, baked potatoes, French toast, bacon, grits, mixed salad, and fruits. It was quite a variety and everything was actually very good, came straight out from the kitchen. Staff was super friendly too, definitely a warm welcoming brunch spot. Also the brunch buffet is only $16 per person, can't get that anywhere else. Me and my girls will definitely be back.

Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Sam the chef is amazing and treats everyone like family when they come eat at the cafe. I had my birthday party there with a group of 20 and all my friends loved the food it was such a success! Every dish that I have tried there was fresh and delicious. I would highly recommend checking simple cafe out.

BEST RESTAURANT ON BEDFORD AVE!!

By th0masman0n |

I’m in love with this place! Went 3 times this week... The food is absolutely fantastic and the place is so pretty! Everything there is just gorgeous, even the little bread baskets are so cute! :) Tried the Algerian plate, goat cheese salad and veggie couscous for dinner last night and it was a DREAM! Will definitely be back again and again!

Simple should be called Simply Terrible

Food mediocre, service horrendous. The "buffet" is a sad joke, and if you dare ask for a cup of coffee, be prepared to have to never getting it, they hace a whole story about how there are too many people and not enough waiters (who cares), and still, your coffee doesn't come to the table.

Delicious Brunch Buffet

Charming little restaurant in Williamsburg. We stopped here for a late brunch on a Saturday. The buffet appeared to be small, but we found plenty to eat. Selections were replenished with fresh servings. Scrambled eggs are served hot and fresh to the table and the homemade bread is soft & light. Quiche, croissants, french toast were all delicious.

Quirky and Cool

We loved it here! Just walking around in Williamsburg this restaurant leapt out. It's small, quirky and we sat and enjoyed people watching at the open window bench seat just inside. Brunching, we took advantage of their buffet style brunch - super tasty and good value. Lovely French service, it was packed with a mixed crowd, mainly young and hip. Well priced, great service. A real local find.

Super cute little cafe on Bedford Ave with good service. Menu has everything you'd want for a perfect weekend brunch and the food is cooked perfectly.

Lives up to the Name!!

My nephew lives in the neighborhood and suggested we go here for brunch. It was small but lovely cafe serving a simple buffet. It has a french cafe ambiance via their juice glasses, bistro tables and varied cuisine. very well priced and relatively inexpensive. I wiould like to try it again on my next visit.

Sweet and cozy

Excellent food and atmosphere, with very kind staff. The wine selection was good as well. It’s a sweet and cozy restaurant, and I will definitely return. The hamburger and merguez couscous were both delicious.

We stopped for breakfast here this morning after a bike ride. Fun place. Good food. Inventive brunch menu. Reasonably priced. Service was friendly, but fell a little short, as it was quite busy.

Very nice and cozy place.

Very testy food and nice atmosphere. The food tastes and feels like a home-made. They have interesting selection of wines.

Sweet Café

Nice location with good breakfast. Waitress was very nice and mimosas offer great. We ordered different breakfast dishes and it was all delicious. The Cappuccino is pretty strong. Good to become awake.

Aweful salad and bad coffee

I ate the havenmeyer toast which tasted ok, but the salad was boring and had way too much dressing on it

Nostalgia

I loved this cafe when I lived in Williamsburg. Always welcoming, consistent, and quality. Almost a decade has passed since I've had the opportunity to dine at Simple and I was not disappointed. The evolution of space and chef/owner is amazing. Happy to see this neighborhood staple thriving!

cute little spot

I stayed in Williamsburg for 4 days, and happened to be right beside this place. We went 2 or 3 times. Like much of what I found in Williamsburg it was almost anti-fancy in the décor, but charming none the less. Small place with a small menu of items you will have a hard time deciding from. They have really good pancakes and simple French food, nothing fancy, just good, and absolutely amazing bread. Soft in the middle and almost cracker crunchy paper thin exterior flavoured with fennel seeds and something else that I cannot remember. And finally, a place that does omelettes the way they should be done. The coffee is good, aka better than starbucks and tim Horton's (my opinion) and they differentiate between a latte and a café au lait. I could literally sit there all day, every day, and the server is very pleasant and lets you know that you are in no rush.

Steak Frites

By Sabena S |

On our visit to Williamsburg several weeks ago Helga and I had lunch at a French-Algerian restaurant on Bedford Avenue, Simple. We both chose steak frites. The food arrived and the mound of excellent shoe string fries was large to make up for the slim piece of meat. Helga drank a beer with her lunch. I had sparkling water. In these times ingredients have become quite expensive. We skipped dessert. Our lunch was a tad expensive. The ambiance was calm and the large French windows were all open to let in plenty of fresh air.

Very nice brunch

By ArantxaSpina |

I was there for a brunch on a Saturday; it's a real brunch: all you can eat, for about 16$. They had quiche, bacon, potatoes with bechamel, zucchini, quinoa salad, ham, cheese, bread, french toasts, jam, butter, Nutella... and they serve you eggs and bread. Everything was very tasty, except coffee (but is New York, so is not a big thing). Juice was ok. The place is really nice, and they have place to sit and eat outside.

Excellent little place with great service

Aime was a fantastic waitress; really cool, friendly helpful person. Great service makes such a big difference to an experience. We ate late breakfast; I had a huge avocado and cheese omelette with potatoes and it was delicious. Great atmosphere, free wifi with their login, clean and laid back. Loved it.
