Favorite Neighborhood Indian Food

By Sherpa04794059402 |

This is my regular go to place for Indian food in my neighborhood. Love Chai, Indian coffee, lamb dishes, shrimp vindaloo, black lentils, potato patties with tamarind sauce . . . not everything on the menu is to my taste but there's plenty to choose from. Friendly, efficient service always!

To Go... no good

By mgrajeda74 |

Ordered to go from this place and they couldn’t even include utensils. Really? Just paid good money for your food and you can’t even include for me the means to eat it? Lousy customer service as I called to ask about it and of course it was someone else’s fault... typical.

Super great

By Joe W |

Have been here 5 times and it is by far some of the best Indian food in Portland. Sit down and order or buffet is available. Very reasonable pricing for how much you get. Probably the best Chicken Tiki Masala I've ever had. I will always be coming back.

Good Food but Not Good Value

By Penny S |

The food here at Siri is delicious, but it is too expensive for what you get. I saw no thali dinner options on the menu, so all you get with your entree is rice. Naan, and any other dishes that complete an Indian meal is a separate charge. The portions are small as well. The naan was excellent. I would rather pay a few dollars extra for a Thali tray and get raita, naan, dal, a vegetable and perhaps sambar. The restroom had no paper towels or toilet paper. The floor in front of the toilet as well as the toilet seat was wet with...who knows what. It could be such a great place to eat if they would make a few changes. The flavors are spot on.

Well prepared and delicious.

By Qpgmr |

Delicious indian cuisine. We order the chicken tikka masala based on reviews here and the vegetable goa curry and loved both of them. Pretty large portions that we couldn't finish, but I wish we'd ordered the naan to try it out. Definitely on our checklist for trips to PDX from now on.

Tasty Chicken, Runny Daal

By Success G |

This is smart-looking restaurant with a daily buffet. The staples were all naan--naan, tandoori chicken, chicken korma, pakora. The mung bean daal was runny. Perhaps it was supposed to be soup, but I didn't see any bowls. The locale looks new and clean, but I do wonder why there are photos of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe next to Krishna and the Guptis. Very nice staff. Highly recommend.

Can help your Indian food craving

Decent Indian fare. Good service. We stumbled upon it by chance looking for Indian food. And it turned out to be worth the visit.

Great Indian on 232rd!

By Hartimage |

We love Indian food, and Siri was a great discovery on the trendy 23rd Street in Portland. Ordered the standard fare of chicken tikka, chicken korma, and butter chicken - all so very good! Good sized portions mean great leftovers the next day - which is what we did. Great place to stop, especially on a busy, rainy, holiday evening. We would always recommend the Siri if you are in the area.

Great lunch buffet, less than great service

By Somewheresublime |

I thoroughly enjoyed the lunch buffet. They had some dishes that I hadn't seen before, and it was nice to try some new things. The service was a bit slow, and no one filled up my water or offered me a drink until I'd been through the buffet and specifically requested it. I think once the staff gets into a rhythm and is a bit more attentive, it will make a big difference.

Perfect!

By Brian R |

Visiting from out of town for work. We ordered an appetizer of Aloo Tikki, and entrées of Butter Chicken and Chicken Vindaloo, with a side of Garlic Naan. Kingfisher Premium Lager to wash it down. Everything was perfect, and at very reasonable prices; thank you!

Yum!

By Idap_tx |

Staff was nice, but the food was fantastic. I've been craving Indian food and decided to pick up chicken vindaloo on my way to Salem. It was sooo good. Totally hit the spot.

Late lunch

By Tahir G |

Found this place in Nob Hill, for a late lunch. Lovely lamb Karahi with naan. Nice friendly helpful chap and good ambience. Thank you.

Great Buffet Lunch

By RalphB11 |

Very good Indian food buffet at lunch time. This is the only time I've been here... This is on the top of my list of places to eat Indian food in Portland. Parking can be challenging, but it's well worth it.

Stopped in for the Lunch Buffet

By James B |

They offered a delicious buffet that exceeded my expectations for such an unassuming restaurant. Absolutely loved it and will definitely come back soon!

Tasty buffet

By matkat7 |

A group of 8 of us arrived at 2:45PM, shortly before they closed the buffet line at 3. They kept it open longer for us and 4 others who arrived at the same time we did, including providing fresh, warm naan and tandori chicken to the table.

Good choice for Indian in NW

By UnagiUnagi |

We got take out to bring back to our hotel and we thought it was good. We got the chicken tikka masala, (very good) garlic naan(good) and the katchumber salad(very good and fresh tasting). I had read the reviews before deciding on this place and so I was not surprised by the rather taciturn older lady that took my order, my food was good and still piping hot when I got back to the hotel so I'll take that over super friendly wait staff any day.

Ok...

By avalon20013 |

The food was ok, loved the fish pakora and the bread ( we had garlic naan and onion kulcha ). Curries were ok, have had better but have had worse. Service was awful

Siri

By sheetalzorn |

The buffet was absolutely delicious. The Service was good. Place was packed as soon as it opened. I would definitely go back.

So so buffet...cold food

By Tabinosorakara |

It was after 2:00. The buffet food was cold. I asked the waitress if she can microwave my food. She said, "it's warm enough!" waving her hands meaning "no!" I was surprised that she decided that the food was warm enough for me. She even did not come back to fill my water up. Some of the dishes were good. I would have enjoyed food better if they were warmer. Disappointed very much.

Consistently excellent!

By James F |

I'm shocked at the "Don't eat here recommendation! We discovered Siri during lockdown. We are Indian Food lovers, we have eaten in many Indian Restaurants both locally and all across the country. Siri is easily our favorite choice in Portland, in our neighborhood we have easy access to multiple Indian Restaurants and food carts, as well as Siri. The quality is very consistent, and the food is delicious! I often choose my favorite non-Indian Indian food (it's Scottish), Chicken Tikka Masala, the sauce is reduced to the perfect silky texture, not thin and watery like many restaurants. My partner loves Lamb Vindaloo, and their version is perfect. In fact, we are heading there again tonight!

Savory Siri

By 36debbiem |

We had the most fabulous Indian food last night. They had a nice variety of appetizers, entrees featuring lamb, chicken, vegetable, and fish dishes which included curries, tandoori, and other items. They also had a special bread section which included many varieties of Naan, etc. ie. garlic and parsely, cheese, spinach. Many choices for the vegan. We will definitely return soon!

Fantastic food!

By jaswinder p |

Fantastic food preparation. The service however was average with a disinterested staff. The owner was a great guy though. It was clean and had a decent bar too. Parking might be an issue in the area in general. Plan your trip that side with this in mind. Again, well prepared food.

Good Indian Buffet

By rickh57 |

I went to Siri with some coworkers, two of whom are originally from India. The food was well flavored and spicy. Both of my Indian friends said it is the most authentic Indian food they'd eaten in a restaurant in Portland. I'm sure that we'll be back again.

Loved the lunch Buffet😊👍🏼

By magdasilva |

This place is under new ownership and the food is definitely improved. My fav is the curry chicken with bones, spinach rice and nan bread. They have a nice variety of vegetarian dishes. Food is very fresh and the restaurant is nice and clean. If your craving Indian, this is the spot. Happy eating ☺️

Indian cuisine on NW 23rd

By Dr_Lainey |

It looks like they might have a lunch buffet but I ordered off the regular menu. Many of their dishes are halal. There are vegetarian options along with beef, chicken, and seafood choices. I ordered the veggie samosas which were stuffed with peas and potatoes. My main dish was butter chicken and you can choose your spice level. It comes with rice but I also ordered the garlic naan. Everything was very tasty. The naan seem a little under cooked but I prefer the bread softer.

Shockingly good

By Richard E |

One of my good friends invited me here saying the food is some of the best Indian food he has ever eaten. I agree. We started with a southern Indian dosa and the fun began. We followed with several vegetable dishes all very good, but especially the eggplant. I'm not a big eggplant lover but this was delicious. We also had tandoori fish and several different breads. A lot of food that made a nice treat to have for lunch. Siri has become a go place for me to take friends and family. Very enjoyable.

Not "fine dining"

By Lynn D |

I was very surprised to learn that Siri is marketing itself as "Finest Indian Dining Experience." Glass-topped linen tablecloths do not fine dining make, and Siri has a long way to go for me to begin to consider it great, let alone Portland's finest. There is lots of competition, much of which has been around for years. Several of us were there for lunch a week or so ago; it was the second visit for one of us since Siri opened. It was not an auspicious beginning for us. It was unclear whether we were to seat ourselves or wait to be seated; it appeared to be somewhere in between. The plates at the buffet were cold -- never a good thing for hot dishes (even if the meager salad offerings were first on the buffet table). The offerings were well enough labeled and the food was pleasant enough to look at, though the sauces appeared to be much thinner than what I'm accustomed to having. The food tasted good but, predictably, the sauces were thin and runny. It was nice to see dishes other than those we usually see at Indian restaurants; the okra masala was especially flavorful and not at all "slimy," and the carrot/gajar halwa (dessert) was wonderful. It was very cold outside the day we went and, unfortunately, not much warmer inside, which certainly affected our enjoyment of the experience. Is this what they mean on their webpage by "a cool ambiance"? As others have noted, service was slow and we had to ask for our check -- never welcome when one is on a limited lunch break! I'm certainly willing to give them a chance to get their feet under them but, for now, their prices are too high for the overall caliber of the food and "dining" experience.

Never judge a book by its cover

By Jalafab |

23rd Street is awesome, filled with interesting sights and stops and shops. Siri Indian Cuisine is one of those places that you would usually pass without a second glance because there are so many amazing (and more visually appealing) places along the way. If you like Indian cuisine, you should definitely stop here! The only reason I didn't give them a five star rating is that the wait staff is still catching up to the level of the food.

Top Notch Affordable Indian Cuisine

By Wene |

Random TA restaurant search. We ordered three dishes and two naan for take out. Expertly packaged take out for our needs. We sampled every dish for dinner at home that night. The best Tandoori chicken I have ever had bar none! And then two nights later, we had leftover chicken saag and lamb curry at our car camping campsite with a bit of naan and rice. And then we had left over tandoori chicken naan wraps (think tacos) for lunch the next day! Loved that sauce! And today, I'll finish the expertly cooked basmati rice for fried rice lunch! Generous portions! Completely fabulous! This place deserves more positive reviews! We were fiercely loyal to Real Taste of India food cart on Fifth Ave and Stark for 10 years or more. Sadly, it permanently closed in 2020. Hey Siri !! You are our new go-to Indian restaurant! See you soon!

Serendipity

By Otter P |

We had dinner here tonight, just happened to be in NW where we rarely visit and saw this Indian place. Wow! What a great surprise! The food was wonderful, with just the right amount of heat. (you have 5 choices from mild to extra hot, we went with Medium hot, perfect for us) The service was nice and attentive. Our only complaint was that the room could have been a little warmer. We will certainly be back.

Exceptional Indian Cuisine! Great Butter Chicken and the Garlic Naan is off the charts fantastic!

By Milestogo007 |

Had a desire to try Indian Food and Siri seemed like the place to go get it. My instincts were correct. I walked in on a late night and a nice young waitress sat me down and gave me a menu. Upon scanning the menu I chose the Lollipop Chicken Appetizer and the main course I ordered the Butter Chicken with rice and ordered the Garlic Naan. The appetizer came first, the Lollipop Chicken consists of 4 chicken drumlets that have been deep fried. The nice young waitress gave me a couple of sauces called Chutney if I remember correctly A green one which was spicy and a dark plumb colored one called Tamarind which is sweet. I loved the tamarind on the fried chicken best. It was exceptional. The butter chicken and the rice came out in these cool looking metal dishes. The rice was light and fluffy and the butter chicken (I ordered the mild sauce, you can order spicier) was just perfect. I can't eat hot spicy food because I don't like doing that flaming sword in the colon dance routine at 5 AM in the morning that robs me of precious sleep. The Naan was airy, fluffy, and soft and tasted great alone but was really great dipped in the butter chicken sauce. A fabulous meal at a great price. I plan on returning. The service was great from both the younger waitresses and the older waitress. They were all very kind to me and informed me about the dishes. I highly recommend Siri for Indian food. It is probably the very best in Portland and it is on NW 23rd which is a shopper's paradise so I suggest you all go check it out and then you can go shopping.

Very Nice

By Meander599493 |

On our last night in Oregon, we were delighted to find Siri. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service warm. Loved it!

Excellent sauces.

By donscotti |

Siri has a wide selection of sauces for fish or shrimp. Tried the Tiger Shrimp Masala which complimented the shrimp perfectly. I'll return to try the Kashmiri sauce. The ladies here can really cook, but seem a little out of their element running a restaurant. Just relax and don't let it disturb a really good meal.

100% go to Siri Indian Cuisine the food is amazing

By Jote K |

It is my family restaurant and I am so proud of it the restaurant opened when I was born in 2013 or 2012. I 100% recommend it and you must try the tundory chicken

The best Indian food I've tasted

By Alan Payne |

My wife and I live in a very rural area and occasionally when we are in the the mood for a tiny vacation we will get an over night stay in Portland just to have Siri's food. We like spicy Indian food and Siri does not disappoint. There is not a lot of seating but we always take out and the food is actually crave worthy.

Great lunch buffet; available on weekends too! That's unheard of.

By TXTravelingGal2013 |

Siri's buffet is all week and not just on weekdays. Buffet hours are 11am-3pm. Their buffet options are very unlike other Indian buffets where they try to keep everything vegetarian to keep the cost down, Siri has lamb or a fish dish on their buffet. The buffet includes a variety of vegetarian side dishes, ghana masala, chicken tika masala, salads, fruits, tandoori chicken, naan, rice pudding, carrot pudding. The buffet cost is $9.95 and this doesn't include a soft drink. Soft drinks are $2.50/$3.00, they also have ice tea, mango lassi, chai, beer, and wine. Great buffet price for all the options they have. I highly recommend the tandoori chicken and their naan. There is nothing that I hate more than skinny or greasy naan. Siri's naan is fluffy, thick, and warm..mmmmm. I had to stop myself from eating too much of it.

craving the vegetable karaikudi

By Keri Y |

After craving Indian Cuisine one night at work, we decided to order from here. My co-worker had a friend who said it was great. Normally I go with veggie masala, naan, and veggie samosas. I didn't see masala off the bat so I decided to go with the karaikudi (southern spicy gravy) instead. It...was...amazing. And spicy!! I came back to Portland after relocating and took another friend there. Ordered the same thing, the waiter warned me about the spiciness, but I was ready for it! On a side note, the first time I had it my co-worker did not like the samosas so I took one home. I mixed the insides with scrambled eggs and the brown sauce that come with it for breakfast, it was amazing!

Good Indian!

By Dave R |

Had a great meal here. One of the better Indian restaurants in portland. Had the chicken curry and eggplant dish. Both really good. Found the eggplant dish to be very oily, but very good. The garlic naan was perfect. Great service and ambiance.

Good food, service could be improved.

By michelleloftsgard |

The food is good, reasonably priced and they stay open later than most of the other restaurants on 23rd. I was in town for business and arrived late in Portland, so their later hours worked well for me. The lady that served us wasn't over friendly and seem put out, like she didn't want to be there. I'm assuming she was a family member. She would walk past the table and ignore us, it took a while to be served and there weren't that many people in the restaurant. Having more engaged wait staff would of made it a better experience.

Awesome, and it was delivered!

By Lori E |

I ordered garlic naan, aloo tiki and aloo gobi through grubhub from this restaurant tonight. All of it was DELICIOUS! It is a fair price, and it was delivered on time. Highly recommend.

Good lunch buffet

By C_ah_tle |

Having a bad experience with mediocre food at abhiruchi's at Beaverton, night before, we went to Siri's for lunch after visiting the rose garden. My parents for indo-Chinese fried rice and curd rice. Fried rice was really good. Curd rice had ver dry rice but seasoning was good. My daughter had masala dosa which was crispy and tasty. My sister had dahi vada was good, she had finished the plate. My nephew had paneer masala dosa which he seemed to have enjoyed. Three of us had the buffet, for 10 dollars, had good naan, dal, saag/spinach, channa masala, veggie Goa curry (this one was ok), and all were sumptuous, far better that we could forget the stale carry out last night. Gladly recommend this for lunch, skip the other.

Save Yourself A Plane Ticket To India

By beetcanner |

Came here for dinner around 6pm and enjoyed every morsel. This is Indian cuisine I remember from living in India. You won't find Americanized dishes here. I so enjoyed the Lamb Goa Curry with Papadams on the side. The papadams are made with lentil flour, so my wheat allergy had nothing to complain about, and being burned out on rice, I can't say enough about the simple papadam. Service was excellent and kindly as one would expect yet one is more often then not disappointed with the abject lack of customer service in American restaurants. Eat here, the food is authentic, the employees are real, and the price is right. The menu is extensive with appetizers, sides, salads, Tandoori dishes, Lamb dishes, chicken dishes, (all Halal), Seafood, Vegetarian, Biryanis, South Indian Dishes, Naans and Breads, Rice specialties, Desserts, plenty of Beverages and alcohol, too. you can't go wrong here. Take out available. Eat mild or spicy, tell them what you want. I love this place.

Decent food, poor service

By Peter O |

While the food was of decent quality, we hoped for more when reading the reviews, the service has a long way to go. The restaurant had just a couple of guests but service and kitchen were already at max capacity. This was at least my impression. I don't think we will ever go back to this place and I assume we won't be missed.

Love me some Indian food

By cozmickissez |

We've eaten at Siri Indian Cuisine a few times now and we love it! Food is delicious, portions are good, and luckily we've always stopped by when it wasn't too busy. I can't really compare it to other places, because this is really the only Indian place we've been to so far. I'm sure there are many other places, but we really enjoy this one. We live out in SE Portland, so if we happen to be out near NW, we make this one of the places we stop to eat. We always go into the bookstore across the street to look around too. Great little shop. One day we will have to try Siri's buffet.

Quick Lunch

By Kevin D |

Very nice food. Naan was great. I had ordered chicken tikka masala with rice and Naan. Everything was superb.

Reliably tasty Indian food, generous servings

By Katie and Phil H |

This was a return family trip to Siri, since we had all enjoyed it so much the first time we were in town. Our young grandchildren have adventurous palates and a pretty good tolerance for spicy food, but one can specify the level of heat (spiciness) in the curries when ordering. They were perfectly happy with the medium level of heat, while Dad opted for the "hot" vindaloo. We all happily shared the generous portions, and there was plenty left over for lunch the next day. Service is polite but not particularly speedy, so just sit back, relax and inhale the delicious aromas coming from the kitchen while waiting for your food and drinks.

Great lunch buffet

By How Can W |

We went for the lunch buffet $10.95 per person. Very nice selection and everything tasted good. However, it was a tad too spicy for me. The indian buffets we go to around our home are way less spicy. Yes, I'm a wimp. My favorite was the mushroom curry. If you like it hot, this is your place. I rely on reviews and find them quite valuable. So I strive to leave you valuable reviews. If my review helped you in anyway, please take a second to click the "thumb up" button below. Thanks for reading & give this place a try.

Nice buffet, elegant Indian oasis on 23rd

By Bobbi_Rne |

Always enjoy this elegant restaurant – consistently good, with a yummy buffet, good chai and a full bar. Great for lunch or dinner - whenever I need an Indian fix. Today is a lazy Sunday and I’m enjoying the yummy Indian buffet and watching women’s cricket on the telly. One of my favorite Indian restaurants in Portland!

Delicious Indian food!

By Kailey T |

Our office ordered take-out from Siri for lunch and everyone at the office really enjoyed it. I will admit, I'm new to Indian cuisine so I don't have much to compare to, but everything was delicious and the portions were plentiful. There are a lot of awesome places to eat on 23rd but I will definitely be making Siri one of my regular stops.

Excellent Indian Food

By Lane |

Have tried many Indian restaurants in the Portland area, and the sauces at this one are excellent! The prices are well worth it and I find it a better value than Bombay Cricket Club!

Came for the lunch buffet

By beetcanner |

Two years ago, I came here and had a wonderful dinner. This week I came with great enthusiasm for the lunch buffet. For $10.95, I found chicken prepared 3 ways, no beef, no lamb curry, no goat curry and about one half of the offerings routinely found in Indian lunch buffets across the USA. Every offering on the steam table tasted surprisingly mild. One wait staff, silent and brooding, said one word to me the whole time I spent there. When I walked in the door, he looked up and uttered, "One." I took a seat. I came all the way from the Eastern time zone for this only to find nothing special.

It's alright and open till late

By Old Pro |

It baffles me as to why owners of Indian restaurants always hire their mumbling, no social skills having, otherwise unemployable nephew to wait on customers. You know who I'm talking about. The one who can't be bothered to stay at the table long enough to take your order or refill your drink. I had just walked out of Swagat Indian Cusine, after a miserable experience just 15 minutes earlier, and was too hungry to look for more promising service. The Samosas ($6) was tasty with a rather brutal crust and spiced hotter than I like in the 3-star range. The naan was cooked on one-half and not the other. I'm not sure how they pulled this one off...see photo. The Makhani Paneer was filled with a firmer than usual cheese that made my teeth squeak. The Makhani sauce ($15) was way too tangy and tasted exactly like the Tomato Basil soup you buy at the deli stand in Safeway. I took a few bites, had it wrapped up, and took it home to fix it. I cranked up my tandoor oven and made my own bread that was cooked on both halves. I sneaked a spoonful The Tikka Masala from the buffet and felt it was better than what I had ordered, but not worth getting all gooey about I feel the real reason this place gets any attention is that they are open until 10pn and use an independent delivery service as well. I certainly won't be making the return trip.

Absolutely fabulous

By Charlotte M |

Wonderful Indian cuisine and great luncheon buffets, perfect for first time visits to an Indian restaurant. Even our friends who had never eaten Indian food really liked the buffet.

Excellent indian lunch buffet! 10.95

By Otazman-Ron |

This review is only based on lunch buffet which is always excellent. They always have 1 or 2 Indian dishes that I have never had before. Last time they had a carrot desert that sounded questionable, but was Excellent. Nan bread and tandoori is always available for lunch and of course some chicken masala (sp). Always 3+ dishes are vegetarian for lunch also. Come hungry and be prepared for a great lunch buffet, Indian style.

Very tasty, aromatic food - and plenty of it

By Katie and Phil H |

This restaurant was chosen as a birthday treat by a ten year old and his younger brother, both with adventurous palates and no fear of spicy food. We were all very pleased with our appetizer and entrees, which were perfectly spiced and came in ample portions. Desserts were not so well-received by most of the party, However, the entrees were excellent and we had plenty of left-overs for the next day. The sole waiter on duty worked his tail off, but service was a little slow. One of our party had eaten the buffet lunch here with friends a few weeks earlier, and said it was excellent.

Do not eat here

By Kelsi W |

Do not eat here. There were 5 of us dining, and my food was brought to the table 25 minutes after everyone else's food in my group. I had asked where my food was 10 minutes after everyone else's, and both employees I asked very rudely told me to wait. I finally got my food (veggie coconut curry), and hours later I got food poisoning!! It was the worst pain, vomiting and diarrhea of my life. I had to miss work and school because of it. I am filing a report asap.

Great food with tons of veggie options

By vegout2 |

I had a chance to try out Siri on a recent trip to Portland. I was hesitant to dine there as the restaurant was nearly empty at peak dinner hours but gave it a try. The food is moderately priced and the portions are ample. The vegetarian options are plentiful and you determine the amount of spice for your dish. Recommend highly.

What a pleasant surprise

By Carl R |

We had walked by this place for a year but 'lunch buffets' usually mean trouble to me. We went last night to check it out. It is simply beautiful inside! The staff is delightful in their service and their attitude. The nan is hot and fresh, lentil soup is perfect, dal is spiced just right. We had the lamb in spinach and shared an entree which was plenty for two (18.00). The mango mojito was well prepared and, oddly enough, the Indian wine (which they allowed us to taste before ordering) was really good. Plenty of parking for this busy part of town. Delightful!

Had a good time, with some unfamiliar interpretations

By goldenrusset |

Walked in at 5:30pm on Sunday evening with seven people and easily got a table. One person had recommended Siri for the chicken tikka masala. Some of the winners were: hot fresh garlic naan, savory chickeny mulligatawny, well seasoned tomato soup, crisp toasty papad with sauces, baingan bhartha, lots of rice. We had the chicken tikka at two spice levels (3 and 2) and they were yummy as expected. Also: chicken okra at 4 was definitely spicy; I didn't personally taste the butter chicken or mango chutney. The vindaloo was a little funky with a deep red coloring and some kind of fruit chunks. The chicken vindaloo at 2 was hot like a vindaloo rather than the 2 that was ordered; the shrimp vindaloo at 5 everyone said was very hot but my sample was not crazy hot when eaten with raita. I think Portland hot is not as hot as MA generally. Kabuli naan filling also had bits of red coloring, from some kind of fruit. There were a couple of 'kashmiri' dishes on the menu and somehow I got lamb in the 'kashmiri' style, also with large chunks of fruit where I might have expected potatoes. This is a version I'm unfamiliar with; I'll check around when I get home. It was a pretty mild 2. All of the entree vessels were loaded to the brim with sauce which I've been told elsewhere is very popular with Indian customers. Have not had better Indian food in the Portland area though I know a couple such in MA. Would like to give a special shout out to our waiter Nikhil, who was very sharp, saw what needed to be done and did it quickly and with good spirits. Even when we dropped the condiments on the floor. Staff were also good about accommodating our beverage explorations. My gang was overall very pleased with the experience.

Amazing food!

By Rboghosian1021 |

We came here twice- not just because every other resturant sucks in portland- also because this place has the best indian food in the states. North and south indian food. If you come- get Chana masala (level 5 spicey!) the servers were all very nice. I Defently will come back if Im in portland again.

Good source for Indian food

By King A |

1st visit and decided to go with friends. Overall food was very good and a pleasant visit with good value. Service was a bit rough with several people trying to take our order and the floor manager not seeming to be very happy that evening. All in all would gladly go back and will probably try their $10 lunch buffet.

Awesome lunch buffet

By Caldwem |

I came for the lunch buffet. It is in a great neighborhood. Nice interior. The buffet looked a little weak but I was wrong. Great tika masala. Tandoori that is not too dry Great place

Local Indian food

By Thyda K |

So this is my second Indian restaurant I’ve been able to try in Portland. We went on a Saturday night. It wasn’t busy and it was pretty quiet. It’s a family owned restaurant and the service we received was okay. I feel whenever I would ask for a recommendation or a simple question the answer I received was always “I don’t know.” We picked about four dishes. We chose to start with Lamb Samosas and Chicken Naan bread. The filling in the bread was very salty but the samosas were good. I ordered the Butter Lamb. That was very delicious and the plain naan bread was amazing. This place would of scored higher if the service was better. For those who don’t eat Indian cuisine often or ever, being able to get recommendations on what to order would of been appreciated.

Favorite Neighborhood Indian Food

By Sherpa04794059402 |

My favorite Indian food place in this area of Portland (Alphabet district). The lamb and chicken dishes are all good and different types of naan are delicious. Mango lassi , chai, Indian coffee, yum. Also enjoy their vegetarian dishes, spinach with paneer comes to mind, black lentils, etc. Not fancy just a nice neighborhood place.

Authentic, Delicious and Packed with Flavor!

By Rosemary B |

We ordered the Butter Chicken, Paneer Tikka Masala, Chicken Vindaloo, Papri Chat, Mango Chutney and Garlic Naan. Everything was fresh, hot, and packed with flavor. Staff was to the point and friendly. They want to get your order and feed you. It was a cozy and local atmosphere. Really great place to have dinner and then walk down the strip on NW 23rd.
