Staff worked hard to give me gluten free options

By Commenter |

The wine selection is excellent. Sitting outdoors was comfortable, and both staff and passersby were friendly. This is a safe area, with plenty of shops and other eateries. It was cozy, fun, and the snacks Sixty Vines put together for me were tasty. (The menu is thin on gluten free selections.) The kitchen was a little slow, but I couldn't argue with the results. In a competitive market, it is doing well. I will return the next time I am near Rice Village.

Fun time and good mussels

By Lynn M |

Some friends had a birthday lunch here for me. It was my first time here and I was the first to arrive. The waiter on the first floor who greeted me ( well, sort of) sent me upstairs as we had a reservation. (I learned later the upstairs is for those with reservations and the downstairs more for walkins.) You can take the stairs to the upstairs or an elevator. I chose stairs. Once on the second floor, the greeting was a bit sparse, but when I finally was directed to our table, all was good. The upstairs has much more of a “vibe”. Misty was our server and she was great. I had the mussels dish (advertised as a sharable), but I opted to make it my meal. I will definitely be back with my spouse or friends.

Southern Hospitality

By Kristin |

Southern Hospitality! Amazing, kind staff went out of their way to make my cousin and I’s dinner special (here for treatment at MD Anderson). Sabrina was fantastic and Akai? (Not sure if I spelled his name right) were sweet and made our night. Delicious food! Pretty vibes! Will come back for sure!

Delightful place for a light meal and wine tasting

By Gabriel H |

In a light, modern and airy space in the middle of Rice Village, this two-story restaurant cum wine bar offers a relaxing environment, lots of choices for shareable dishes and a broad selection of wines by the glass (or by the bottle). Open all day after around 10-11 am, it is a great place for brunch, lunch, snack, happy hour or dinner. We shared the bacon-wrapped dates, which were perfect. The burrata came in a lovely presentation and a delightful dressing. The Crispy Zucchini is a large portion, definitely to share. It has multiple consistencies, and textures, with varying levels of crunchiness. The meatballs were delicious, a mix of beef and lamb in a light tomato-based sauce. The Fried Chicken and Caviar was a disappointment: the chicken breast (yes, they only serve breast...) was perfectly cooked, juicy and tender, but had absolutely no taste. The caviar was invisible, so we can't recommend it. We tried six different types of wine, mostly from the West Coast. The Albarino and Kith & Kin Chardonnay were enjoyable, but the Quilt Cab/Merlot was the best! The espresso had the right aroma but was gritty and only mediocre; the Cappuccino was disappointing. It was the usual story: most places in Houston can't tell the difference between a Latte and a Cappuccino and both are served with lots of milk, with some added foam to the Cappuccino. This was no exception, so we left it on the table. Overall, a delightful way to enjoy a couple of hours. Just stay away from the fried chicken and the Cappuccino.

Very Good Food

By davemh333 |

This place is huge. But even though it's pretty new it's doing a bang up business, so it can be hard to get a table at a good time. The downstairs is always very loud, so if you want to carry on a conversation either get seated upstairs or outside. The menu is fairly broad, but everything we've ordered thus far has been delicious. I don't drink, so I can't speak to their wine list, which is sort of their main attraction, but others who've dined with me have commented on their generous pours. Service is solid.

Excellent Venue for Business Dinner

By Sam |

We held a group event here last Friday and it went flawlessly. The service was superb - Missy and Sabrina were attentive, friendly, and professional, keeping the dinner moving so that it fit within our set time parameters while never making us feel rushed. The wine was excellent, of course, and the food was delicious. They are very good at taking food allergies / preferences / dietary restrictions into account while helping you select a menu. I highly recommend Sixty Vines for your next dinner or event. We will be using them again soon!

Excellent Mimosa Bar!

By Brenda S |

Went here the first time with girlfriends in late November 2019 and then COVID hit in March so have not been back. We had reservations for upstairs and really enjoyed the restaurant and ambience. The only issue was that when I asked about cocktails, the server did not mention the Mimosa Bar (which I’m guessing they’re not doing now due to COVID). I was going to get a Frose, but then saw someone else with fruit in their drink and asked about it. Once they explained it to us, three in our party decided to get it. What a bargain! At that time, we paid $20 for a bottle of champagne which we shared. Once you pour your champagne, you go to the bar and add whatever variety of juices, flavored syrumps, and fresh fruit and berries that you want. You basically end up with a better, souped up version of a Sangria. We all LOVED it, so hope they’re still doing this in some shape or form. We bought 2 bottles between the 3 of us. For food, we ordered 5 appetizers and a margharita pizza for the 4 of us to split. All were delicious. No problem with splitting the check between 4 people. Look forward to returning!

Good happy hour vibe

By Dizzle28 |

Went to this restaurant twice in the same week. The first time was for lunch with co-workers and then a few days later some of the same people returned for happy hour drinks. Restaurant is in Rice Village with parking on the second floor right next to it. There's also an entrance on the first floor, but note that the happy hour scene is downstairs. I like the restaurant set up, and it seems to draw a lot of young working professionals, which lends perfectly to happy hours. As far as the food goes, I had the oven roasted brussel sprouts with kung pao vinaigrette ($9) for appetizers, which I really enjoyed. It had the right amount of crisp without bordering on charred. And the vinaigrette was the right complement of sweetness. However, I didn't like my short rib pappardelle, which was braised with red wine, carrots, basil and Pecorino Romano ($15). My food came out cold! Not lukewarm. Flat out cold. Even when they took it back to heat up, it came back lukewarm. So my guess is it was microwaved for maybe 30 seconds. I expected it to come back steamy hot, but it was lukewarm. It didn't save the horrible taste though. It was already bitter, but eating it cold to warm didn't do it any favors. I have had braised ribs many atimes and this may be the worst I ever had. I wouldn't recommend it. My colleagues all enjoyed their food so I summed it up to me just not liking the specific meal I ordered. Everything else about the ambiance was great, which is why I didn't mind returning for drinks two days later with some of the same colleagues. They have an incredible list of wines to choose from and you have an option of selecting 3 glasses of a variety of wines for $21. I don't remember what I had, but it was a red wine that came to as close to as sweet as I could.

Decent brunch

By Shelly J |

The restaurant is lovely and the food was very good. I was shocked that in a fairly empty restaurant we were seated directly next to another party. We also did not receive the fruit that should have come with our meal but didn't realize it until we saw another tables food being delivered.

Rice Village's Best Restaurant

By Great_Beer_Now |

Rice Village in Houston is home to many options for food and drink. If you want a touch of elegance- and a large selection of wine- then a place you need to visit is Sixty Vines. At Sixty Vines, wine is one of the chief draws. As its name suggests, there are about sixty different wines from which to choose, with a wide range of styles. The majority are from California, Oregon, etc but there are a few French, Spanish, and Italian options also. They offer multiple serving size options, which I like, and the wait staff is well- versed on the wines. They can help guide you to find the right wine for your specific taste preferences. Food at Sixty Vines is excellent! I often go for one of the pizzas or pasta dishes, but the other food is exceptional as well, like the Double Cabernet Burger, Wood Grilled Bavette Steak, and Filet Mignon. If you go for a pizza, they have popular options like Margherita pizza and Spicy Sausage Pizza. If you feel more adventurous, I recommend the Fig & Prosciutto Pizza or Marinated Artichoke Pizza. No matter what food you choose, you won’t be disappointed. With parking, there is paid parking in the immediate parking lot. I recommend parking on the rooftop instead, where the first two hours of parking are free. It’s a little tricky because if you pull into the main parking lot, there is no way to get to the rooftop, which is why most people don’t even know it’s there. You get to the rooftop from Kelvin Drive, which is the side street. Parking up here is worth it because it is less expensive, you are more likely to find an open space, and there is a direct entrance to Sixty Vines restaurant, which has two levels. Rice Village has many good options for dining, but Sixty Vines is my favorite of all. Excellent food, an abundant wine selection, and a knowledgeable wait staff make Sixty Vines an obvious standout in the crowded Houston restaurant scene.

Delightful stop before or after a show

By Gabriel H |

We left a show after the second act (not a great show!) and stopped at Sixty Vines for a snack and a glass of wine. Parking is easy and there is always a table waiting for you. Service is friendly, helpful and the place has a background noise but not enough t make it unpleasant. We had a couple of "small plates", which we couldn't finish because they were rather large. We also tried three different wines by the glass, all delightful. An easy place to like, and good enough for multiple returns.

Girls Night Bday Dinner

By PayneToPlane |

My friend and I enjoyed the Ambiance and the variety of wines to choose from at sixty vines. Loved the Cali Chicken Chop Salad and my friend loved her Fettuccini. The Spicy Sausage Pizza could’ve had more spice. Sophia was a awesome server and always made sure we were okay. We will definitely be back.

It's unnique.

By World_Traveller914 |

This place is a bit different than most restaurants. It's very wine centric with a limited menu of food. The food was good but average and service was OK. Most tables were mostly arranged in long rows that would seat about 20 people. You were seated spaced out from others when they were not at capacity. Prices were a bit on the high sude for what you got.

Over and Above....

By Cindy A |

OMG! The food was wonderful and our waiter was incredible. There were two of us and we shared an order of tri-tip with chimichurri sauce and broccolini. Both were extremely well-spiced and very tasty. The waitress Sabrina suggested the broccolini. I was not sure about it but when it arrived, it was delicious and it paired very well with the tri-tip. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. She asked if we were there to celebrate anything, but I told her that we were there to visit a friend in the MD Anderson Cancer Center. When she returned to our table, she handed me a bag; in it was a scented candle wrapped in a tissue paper. She asked me to give this to my hospitalized friend and she offered us her wishes for my friend's recovery. That was an incredibly thoughtful and out-of-box beautiful gesture. I hope management realizes what a jewel Sabrina is and that she is compensated accordingly. I highly recommend Sixty-nine Vines.

Great ambiance, wine selection, and food!

Fantastic ambiance with great service (shoutout to our waiter Ozzy for his fabulous service including help picking food and drink pairings). And good food: brussels, baked ricotta, and the spicy sausage pizza.

Our new go to for appetizers and drinks

Great charcuterie boards, flatbreads, brussel sprouts, hummus. Everything was great. Huge upstairs and outdoor seating. Great service. Easy parking. Will be back many times.

Felt let down...

By DrEitan |

1. Overpriced and small portions on the plates 2. Would not go frequently, maybe once a year or so 3. Messed up 2 orders and had to do a redo, could have given a credit or offer a free desert- nothing happened 4. No discount for EMS, military- bad 5. Bills itself as all wine, but way overpriced. Save your spend and drink elsewhere

One of the best happy hours (tappy hours) in Houstom

By Geraldine S |

This is a great place to meet friends for a copa and truly delicious small dishes. Ask for Tappy Hour menu. There you will find wines on tap 1/2 price (recommend the red blend) and a small collection of sharable small dishes for $5.00. We tried the prime rib sliders, mushroom bites, and a great pizza -like delight with all sorts of good vegetables, artichoke hearts, and cheese. All totally wonderful. Good service and decor, and not overly noisy.

A clean, safe and enjoyable wine bar

By Gabriel H |

This two-story wine bar offers enough food to have a more than generous snack and the sixty wines (or so) on tap provide considerable selection for just about everybody. The wine list covers most of the wine-making world, although only the middle range wines are represented (at least in terms of price). However, with excellent location in Rice Village, good parking options, a safe neighborhood and multiple very good restaurants within walking distance, this is always a good choice for a sundowner or a glass of wine before or after a show.

All around great - good for gluten-free

By Jean H |

We stopped in here late afternoon for wine and a light meal. We each got a wine flight and split a cheese and charcuterie plate and my husband had ceviche and i had a small portion of pasta. Tables are well-spaced and our waitress Andie was perfect: knowledgable on the food and wines, helpful and friendly. She made it a great experience. All the wines were good and we were delighted that they had gluten-free bread for celiac husband. Absolutely everyone there was helpful and friendly. They also have GF pasta and pizza. All the food was good and we plan to come again.

Great food and atmosphere

Such a fun experience! The food and atmosphere was perfect. Our waiter, Tray, was awesome! So helpful and fun. It has become one of our new favorite places.

Great lunch and wine

By Eurotraveler09 |

My husband and I had a late lunch here. This restaurant has a great wine selection. Menu was terrific and service was fantastic. We tried the hummus appetizer and both of us had salads which were fantastic. We’ll be back!

Amazing food!

We went there last week when we were in Houston. Our server was very helpful. Our food was amazing! We will definitely go back!

Visiting our local friends

By Lauren P |

My husband and I met our friends for dinner. They were local and we were visiting from Florida. The ambiance was really nice and everything was delicious, including their homemade ricotta. I was impressed by the wine on tap-so cool. Our friends got us one of their amazing candles and sadly my husband forgot it. I highly recommend checking them out. Thanks for the great meal!

Great Food…Great Hospitality and Genuine Warmth!

By Moreheadtraveler |

First time visitor but the reviews and closeness for me meant I had to try. This is a 2 story venue in the heart of Rice Village. Inside and outside dining and it was lively by 6 pm! I was dining solo and requested a nice table for one as it was my birthday and I was celebrating being cancer-free from Treatments at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Destiny welcomed me at the hostess stand with a Happy Birthday and others staffers joined in. Josh was my server and guided me with expertise to good gin, good food and coffee! they have 60 wines on tap and you can order various sizes. Jade, the manager stopped by to attend to any needs and at the end, he picked up my whole check. I couldn’t believe it. Moved to tears as it has been a hard journey last few months. In this world, be a SIXTY VINES . I hope the pictures do the Chefs justice but I’ll never forget their kindness! See them in August! .

Enjoyed the wine bar

Went to dinner with friends. Got a flight of wine and our server Zazil was extremely helpful. We enjoyed the small places. However my pizza was doughy.

Good wine with lots of choice, delicious pizza, fun waitress, a lovely evening

By sealbeachtraveler |

We were walk ins. When they told us they had only been open two weeks, we were amazed at how busy Sixty Vines was, with a lively crowd, obviously enjoying a Friday night. Our waitress was helpful but also funny and enthusiastic. We sampled 2.5 oz of several wines at a variety of price levels. I like red and Bev likes white so for each of us to try several was a treat. Their Sixty Vines brands were delicious and a reasonable value. Mushroom truffle pizza was great. The asparagus cooked perfectly sauted in a light lemon sauce. The Brussels sprouts were spicey.

Just keeps getting worse

By MNTrip |

We used to love Sixty Vines...everytime we go now something changes that screams the quality of our food isn't going to be as good as the last time you were here. Tonight ordered the beet salad which is normally arugula and beets. Well no arugula in one of ours and hardly any in the other...did they run out? The swordfish used to be a nice piece of swordfish on celery root....tonight it was 3 pieces of < 1/4" thick swordfish (it looked like scraps) and soooo dry. We loved you Sixty Vines but you're losing us.

Good, I definitely go back

By DutchTX |

Good restaurant, quality of service and food is good. Definitely try the mussels as an appetizer (share it with two), they are nice. The Babette steak was good, however next to the fingerling potatoes, they should serve it with some braised carrots, also looks nicer (color) on the plate.

Our new favorite restaurant in the area, give your self a treat and try it out...I guarantee you'll return like we are

By Michael F |

We go to Houston every three months for health reasons and were recently told about this new-ish restaurant experience and it did not disappoint. The vibe was understated but the food and service were not, both were exception and the ambiance complimented our dinner. We had a wonderful server, Destini B who walked us through the menu, made excellent suggestions and brought us exceptional wines. Having heard that we were in a celebratory mood she brought us a dessert, with a candle, to highlight our experience. When you go, definitely ask for her so she can elevate your experience as she did ours.

Horrible Bar Experience

By Sara H |

Extremely disappointed with the level of service we received last night at the bar. The bartender forgot to ring in our food, didn't check on us for about 30 min, when he did finally check in and asked how we were doing I said oh fine, just waiting on our food... it was then that he realized (what I had already) that he had forgot to ring in our food. After realizing this, he did not come and apologize, didn't come and tell us he forgot... in fact, he continued to ignore us! After about another 15 minutes (so now 45) and still no food, still no manager check in, still no bartender coming by, I was able to stop him to ask for water (they were empty, because again, being ignored) and I just asked him "hey you forgot our food huh?" to which he admitted that he did, and I said ok well why didn't you just tell us that?? You've ignored us instead, and that's unacceptable. Asked for the manager to come by (which should've happened immediately), he comes over and, I'm not kidding, makes excuses for the guy, and then says "well how can I make you happy then", in which I replied, I don't know how can you???. I was so excited to try this place, I have heard great things. It was a cute place. The manager gave us each a glass of wine and took care of like $22 of food off our check... which wasn't even the entirety of the food we ordered that was FORGOTTEN AND TOOK AN HOUR TO GET.... let me repeat this... WE PAID FOR FOOD THAT TOOK AN HOUR TO RECEIVE BECAUSE THEY FORGOT IT!!!!!!!! The pizza came out cold, which I didn't bother mentioning, because at that point, there wasn't a point. I can't believe I paid for food that was lack luster and took an hour to receive. It'll take a lot to get me back to this place. Pros - great wine selection, the burrata app was good but came with one piece of crostini, so not really great to share ha, decor, ambience Cons - truly everything else. I can't believe the level of service was so poor, from the Bartender to the bar backs to the manager. 1/10 for service. 4/10 for food. Oh PS, I still tipped this bartender well over 20% because I work in the service industry. So when I say service was poor, it was really really poor. Admit your wrong doing and take care of the guests. This place did neither.
