Interesting breakfast, but...

By M2NC |

Food was good (highly unusual egg, meat and jam atop a huge slab of bread), waiter was amusing...but the coffee was lousy. Eat here, but drink elsewhere.

Great food quick

By SouthernVoiceBiloxi |

Stumbled across this eatery! The menu caught our eye! The burger and fries was the best we’ve had in a long time!

Excellent value for money at this diner.

By Martin J |

Got this recommendation by our hotel concierge as a little bit off place but great food. She was very right we had a great fried chicken and salmon for late night supper before hitting the bars at pike Street.

Our experience was below expectations

By Maureen C |

This restaurant has had a lot of good reviews but our experience was less than. The coffee was old, cold and bitter. We weren't asked if we wanted milk or cream for it which may have made it more palatable but since it was already cold, probably not. The steak was over cooked, my husband broke out in hives from something that he ate which was a first. The dessert was tasteless. The bathroom was disgusting. It was expensive too. 4 adults with no alcoholic drinks was $200+. There are dozens of other restaurants in the area that are a much better value for money. Big disappointment here.

Scramble Me This Mike

By IdahoGirl83716 |

On a recent visit to the Emerald City to see my son, he introduced me to Skillet. From the moment we walked in it was a great experience. Granted we got there before the crowd (come on people....plan ahead!) and chose to sit at the counter. Lattes were hot, even if they took longer than my coffee-starved psyche would have liked....but I digress. I had the Mike's Scramble, which is a special that changes daily. Three eggs on brioche with various additions. The salad was awesome and the dressing SO good that I ask the hostess for the recipe and she took the time to ask the chef. Fun atmosphere, booths and outdoor seating should you be inclined.

Great Local Spot!

By iamsoawesome |

The service was excellent; all of the team members there were very friendly. The place is a bit small, only because it was packed! The decor is simple but is in-line with that area of town. Now for the food, it was great, large portions but quality food made fresh. When you go there’s get the the caramelized grapefruit as an app.

Great food!

By Kathy S |

We enjoyed the Wed special of Chicken pot pie and the Mac and cheese. Way to much for the two of us but very good. The staff was accommodating and the atmospere is relaxed.

A wonderful place to eat

By texTC |

The wife and I came here before heading to the airport! This place was the best breakfast we had while here. The food was well priced and the quality was second to none. You have to eat here at least once while in Seattle!

A Good break from Downtown.

By Rajan A |

The diner is a little walk from Downtown and its a good break from the tall buildings. The food is great. Would propose to make reservations prior for breakfast as it does get busy. The outdoor seating opens after 10am.

Diner comfort food for foodies.

By Anna C |

I love the food and service. This was one of the first restaurants I tried when I first moved to Seattle and I keep going back. The cornmeal waffle with pork belly and eggs is to die for. The best waffle I have had in my life. I usually eat vegetarian but I gladly break my diet every time I visit. The cinnamon roll and home made donuts are delicious. Warning if you order it with breakfast it will come first and they are so delicious you can't stop eating and will probably ruin your appetite. One slight annoyance....but not enough to keep them from getting a stellar review....they do not like to do substitutions.....the food is so great it doesn't matter.

Brunch was good but prepare to wait

By Mike H |

I went to brunch here with a party of six and had to wait 45 minutes before being seated after being told it was a 20 minute wait. Food was good though nothing to complain about there.

Cool ambience, friendly service, great all day breakfast

By TentandaVia |

The place is hopping at all hours. Imaginative twists on old diner faves. Generous servings. Great location in lively pike-pine corridor. Staff are fun and friendly.

Cool Diner in Capitol Hill with Good Eats

By BathMonkey |

We had a great mix of cocktails and enjoyed the food. Nice cheesy Mac and Cheese baked with Fritos on top, an inventive beet salad. Friendly atmosphere, popular place..

Good food, casual service

By shetoksalot |

This is my third trip to a Skillet (all different locations). The food is good and plentiful. The service is lacking. The people are very nice, but have no sense of urgency. When I am ready to order, and I see 4, count em' 4 servers chatting, I get worried. My daughter and I were there for lunch, so I would think servers know we may be on a time line. So, if you want good food in a casual atmosphere this place is for you!

Great breakfast

By bridget k |

This place is a must visit. Go early because it fills starting at 8a and the busy doesn't stop. I had the pick of the place at 720a and by 8a they were fully seated. The breakfast 'serious toast' is a winner and fills any hungry appetite. I recommend getting the eggs on the side. This is big enough to share and comes with a generous portion of ham and eggs. The service is fast and the coffee doesn't stop flowing. If you are in town for a day or two, make this place a stop. It's out of the tourist trap of the fish market and a good stroll from downtown.

Comfort food at its finest

By Anthony H |

I never have a bad meal here. The ever-evolving menu is always tasty. Tonight's selection was the meatloaf and wow, what a production. I've never eaten meatloaf so delicious in my life and it was massive! The service was excellent snd the overall vibe of the place is fun and cozy.

Top class food and service

By Peterinl0nd0n |

Came here after reading some good reviews on TripAdvisor. And it was worth it. The chicken sammy was superb. Great friendly service too. Highly recommend.

Favorite Capitol Hill eatery

By Robert S |

The Skillet is place were you can drop in and get good comfort food. The menu is not huge, but they go big on breakfast items and things to drink from lemonade to boozy shakes. They also have a full bar. We always try to go at non-peak times to avoid waiting. The staff is friendly.

Skillet near University of Seattle

By Jody J |

This was a recommendation for breakfast and it was terrific. We just loved the Deconstructed Corned Beef Hash and The Chub (who doesn't want to order that just to say the name out loud?). Both were excellent.

Good food, great bar

By wubbuwu |

We were here for breakfast. The food was good, nothing outstanding. The biscuits are average, way too average for $5. But the cocktail list is outstanding and creative. That alone makes it worth the average food.

Fantastic Breakfast

By love2trvl2012 |

This was our last breakfast while in Seattle and it was perfect. The place is nice and bright, and the service is friendly and energetic. Husband enjoyed the pancakes and I had the grits and peek belly... So yummy!

Always good, nice seating outside

By mikey09Seattle |

Inside or outside does not matter much for the service which usually is great. Went there with large groups or smaller ones or as a couple and constantly very good.

Breakfast stop

By Jeff N |

Wow! Right when we walked in it smelled awesome. You could literally taste the chicken and waffles. So good! I admit I did have the yogurt, granola with fruit though, but that was awesome as well. Staff was great, prices reasonable and great menu choices. Highly recommend!

Great local fare for dinner

By Glenn M |

In Seattle for a few days and wanted to experience the local fare for dinner. To start, being a lager/ale afficioanado, I enjoyed the Coconut Porter. It was awesome!!!! My wife enjoyed the Zucchini spaghetti that was presented with fresh olives, tomatoes, and falafel. It was superb! I had the Fresh market fish and chips, which was delish! To top it off I enjoyed the Pie in a Bowl and my wife had ice cream. This place is wonderful with a nice atmosphere and staff that is attentive. Don't miss it!

Wow.

By Z1000sxBabe |

We had plenty of meals on our recent anniversary trip to the US, but the Skillet was fantastic! The brisket was to die for. our server was genuinely friendly and very helpful. Definitely recommended. Gorgeous food.

Capital Hill Area Diner

By Beth2854 |

Lunch - Very good grilled cheese sandwich and chicken salad sandwich - not just your regular, run of the mill sandwiches! Yumm!! We were told to get the Bourbon shake but we forgot, so you should get one when you go! I tried the Poutine, but expected better - maybe in Canada.

Grilled chees with pulled bbq pork

By K212aren |

They have great creative dishes. Catered a wedding and served pulled bbq pork on a potatoe chip. One bite wonderful. The grilled cheese and bbq pork appetizers were delicious...and chicken sliders with spicy aioli sauce were perfect. In the restaurant the menu is made up of creative flavors.

Amazing Breakfast!

By Travlisforme |

The long wait was sure worth it! Their food was inventive, fresh and delicious! Would go again next visit. The Skillet is a upscale diner, with healthy creative options, all quickly prepared and served by a happy staff. The egg scramble was yummy and the kale salad was out of this world!

Good food, adequate service.

By Diana R |

We were in town for the day, having just go off a cruise ship and our cousin took us there for breakfast. When we got there we got a table right away, but when we left there was a huge line to get in! Food was all good, definitely homemade. I had the pancakes and BF had the enormous sweet roll. Carb overload!! Service was a little slow sometimes, but overall was good. I liked the mason jar place settings, but we didnt have enough on our table and I had to steal one from the table next to ours.

hope they have menus now.

By Sarahwow |

We had a scramble, waffles and coffee. Nothing special about the meal. The most memorable part was ordering. Even though we were seated in the restaurant, they wanted us to order on our phones. We wanted to see a menu, which they were able to find, but told us to be sure and return the simple folded paper menu because they were in short supply. What kind of a breakfast place doesn't have menus?

So much food

By wninouye |

This is our first time to this restaurant, we were taking so college friends out to dinner and they recommended this spot. For us it was a little out of the way but walking distance for the kids, we were not disappointed. We made reservations to be on the safe side as we understand it can get crowded, as they do have waiting chairs on the outside. Got there on time and were immediately shown to our table, staff was very attentive to our needs and explained all the specials, kids can sure eat but for us older folks one order was enough for two. Food very tasty, well worth the effort to find.

Very cool place

By seemyeyes |

Very cool spot in Seattle. They are well known for their drinks. Breakfast bloody Mary's were spot on. Breakfast and lunch portions were nice and sized right. Friendly servers they know the menu well. I had no complaints. Salas with a salmon burger was good. Remember that parking is slim it's at the edge of Capitol Hill. Over all good spot

🍳 TIME

By Jojo’s Travel’s 🧳 |

Amazing breakfast spot in Seattle! Food and service is unreal , this one is not rated low enough out of 2000 plus places. Get over to this spot to start your morning!

Oh delicious fried chicken, how I love thee

By Nicole C |

We had this place on our, "must try" list thanks to a YouTube video we came across about it, and it did not disappoint. Wait staff was attentive, we were seated not only quickly but in our choice of outdoor seating and the food...it was amazing and portions were plentiful. I had the chub with the fried chicken add on. The bacon jam against the earthy flavor of Brie played beautifully against the crust of the fried chicken. The husband had chicken and cornmeal waffles and stuffed himself silly. Everything was great.

Poor service, not very veggie friendly

By CWR01 |

We waited a LONG time to be helped here, and longer still for our food to arrive. She was very helpful when she got there, but clearly understaffed or under motivated. The food was not horrible, just basic comfort food, not fancy. But in a town like Seattle there should really be more vegetarian options

FUN place, great food!

By Brenda W |

We walked to Skillet our first night in Seattle, and it was a great choice. The menu was varied, food delicious and our server was terrific. Made recommendations on wine and food and even gave good tips on what to see and how to get around the area.

Good food, great service!!

By Dionic |

Great food, even greater service!! My eggs came out not quite to my liking and our server, Jackie, happily took them back to get me an order that was more to how I wanted them. We had a wonderful breakfast and a great experience! Thanks Jackie R!!

Mediocre Food

By Heather M |

We went in for a late lunch. On the plus side, we were literally the only people in the place, so service was good. The food however was mediocre at best. The chicken strips were an over fried chicken thigh cut up, the salas for the chips was just cut up tomatoes and onions - it was as dry as they could possibly make it. The kale salad was way too salty, which says a lot because I like salt. The prices was reasonable so I will give them that. Not somewhere I would return to.

Perfect!

By Nikos P |

Excellent place for brunch. Their whole menu is super-tasty. We wish they would bring back their cinnamon rolls though. We appreciate that it's of the very few places that still offer reservations. Most other places in Seattle just ask people to wait for an hour in the cold - which is a really bad experience. Thank you Skillet folks for not doing this to us!

AMAZING FOOD!!!

By RJamie |

Skillet is not your traditional diner or burger joint. The guys here take old favorites and turn up the volume - way up! The Chicken Sammie was tender and delicious. The Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese was rich and creamy and perfectly seasoned and very flavorful. The waiter suggested the Bacon Jam on my Grilled Cheese sandwich, and boy was it AMAZING! You MUST try Skillet next time your in the Capital Hill neighborhood.

The Line was out the Door

By Russell G |

Was in town for the Day to see our son. this Place was just a couple Blocks from his place. When we got there we saw the line going out the door for breakfast. We ended up sitting at the counter to avoid part of the wait. Food was real Good. a little Different from your normal "breakfast" with certain Twists on the food. Its worth a Try!

So yummy!

By Emily L |

My sister and I were looking for someplace near our hotel that would be easy for dinner- this place blew us away! I’m a huge fan of breakfast for dinner and I got way more than I expected with my “toast” and my sister was looking for comfort food to match the rainy cold weather. Both our meals were so good and filled us up. We also got fantastic chia tea lattes. Perfect dinner!

Very busy during lunch time - find out why!

By simivalley1699 |

This place was highly recommended. The ordering went very fast, the food is delivered to your table. We could sit outside; fun place to watch the hustle and bustle of "Amazonians" streaming by. My burger was almost like not the regular patty, but fell apart, very light, and tasty. My friend had the meatloaf, things looked very burnt, the meatloaf as well as the broccoli, but she said it tasted good. Beware of the large portions.

Great Comfort Food With A Flair

By Tall66 |

I really like this place both for there great food and for the friend staff. Dinners are good but it is the breakfast menu that I cannot get enough of. Quality and taste are great and the portions are always large. Comfort foods such as fried chicken, grilled cheese sandwiches (one of my favorite), meatloaf and any of their hash are so good you will continue to eat even when you are full. The interior is modern but with a slight down-home flavor such as the mason jar water glasses. They have a full bar selection and the only thing I have not tried as yet are their desserts. Just too darn full every time to order a dessert. Great for couples or family and friends.

Great brunch diner

By VirginiaR0se |

I had the grilled cheese with bacon jam and kale cesar...O...M...G. it was so delicious. Very cute little diner in a somewhat residential neighborhood. Everything on the menu looked amazing. If you want to get away from downtown or just want a great place to eat I recommend this place.

Breakfast

By nlaz |

Stopped by Skillet for breakfast during a trip to Seattle and must say the breakfast was great. Small wait when we arrived by service was excellent as well. Great cocktails and delicious food. Highly recommended.

Interesting Menu, Good Food

By 65Marilyn2016 |

7 of us dined at the Skillet tonight. It was my husband's & my first time. We were seated promptly, we asked our waiter to alter the Cobb Salad to have a hard boiled egg, instead of soft boiled. He put in the request, but it didn't happen. The salad was large, delicious, & the soft boiled egg made it unique :-) My husband enjoyed his Classic Burger, which came with hand cut fries. There were LOTs of fries, the burger was large & tasty.

The Chub, Amazing Breakfast Sandwich

By Luana B |

This was an unexpectedly yummy find. Diner style spot with great counter seating options and outlets to charge phones. Had the Chub. Out of this world egg, and bacon sandwich with bacon jam and jalapeño aioli on a perfectly baked brioche bun. Also had the taters with onions for a side. Easily located by Pier 55. Take a harbor cruise then pop over to The Skillet.

Great food with vegan options

By Eric D |

Went to Skillet after a day of shopping downtown Seattle with family. Chicken sandwich is amazing. For vegans, veggie sandwich and zoodle dish with Brussels sprouts were delicious and good alternatives. Restaurant casual vibe with good service.

Great meal!

By Froggy1313 |

Not much atmosphere, but the waiters are helpful and friendly, and give you pointers to make your meal perfect! The Fried fish is excellent.

Amazing food, Huge portions

By Kathryn6688 |

We came during the brunch zone. We ordered Chilaquiles, Beet frisée salad, burgers with great fries, huge Cinnabon large enough to feed four, biscuits and jam. It was too much for 3 adults and a 10 year old but worth every bite! The fries are amazing, was that thyme? Next time getting the kale Caesar. All frisée can be a bit much but otherwise everything was high gastro delight!

Eye Closing Deliciousness

By Halfricanamber |

The Ultimate Grilled Cheese. Add Bacon Jam. Add Fried Chicken Thigh. Add Poutine. Wait. Talk. Laugh. Wait. Open eyes wide as waiter/waitress approaches with plates. Make sure he/she puts the plate on the table before snatching a bite. Outstretch hands to receive goodness. Open mouth. Bite. Close Eyes. Mmmm.... Food was off the charts. Service was excellent. Go.

Exciting place to meet friends

By JohnMaMercer |

The menu is exotic and the service is friendly and fast. My third time . Always book through Open Table.

Overpriced, overrated

By hugesavings |

Prices are outrageous for the quality and portion sizes. The service was lackluster as well, which would be expected if it was busy but the place was dead when we went.

Solid breakfast spot in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Gay

By PhilNTed |

Good, diner-style food in a really fun, gay neighborhood. Quick and efficient service. I love breakfast and this hit the spot. Happy to return frequently. Maybe skip the waffles though, very heavy and bland.

The Skillet Diner Food Truck

By Mona P |

Out of all the the hamburgers I have ever eaten, this is one of my favorites. I ordered the Basic Burger with a small side of handcut fries. It was messy but it was delicious! The burger had juicy pickles, a yummy special fries, and fresh lettuce. The Basic Burger had grass fed beef, lettuce, special sauce, American cheese, and pickles. I also got a small side of handcut fries which were garnished with salt and herbs. The portion was big so you get really full when you are done eating! The service was really fast even though I was with a group of 15 people. I would totally recommend this to everybody you stops in Seattle for lunch.

Comfort Food 7 to 11

By Theresa K |

Our daughter took us to brunch near Seattle University, especially to celebrate Dad's retirement. The BEST bloody marys with giant stuffed olives, crunchy celery and BACON infused vodka. Food and service are homey and definitely comforting. My meaty bacon and egg pancake sandwich with side salad left me satisfied during a full day of sightseeing and a short hike. Of course, you can end your day in Ballard at the locks, and try other delicious cocktails with your favorite comfort plates.

Excellent

By Sofeena L |

We came here for breakfast early one morning and returned the following day! Excellent service, generous portions and brilliant breakfast, an array of options. We enjoyed the chicken biscuit! The children’s portion was large too!

Good food, engaging waitress!

By NewBhamster |

My 13-year-old daughter and I stopped in for the first time last weekend. We were immediately seated in a booth back by the bar and our friendly waitress arrived to take drink orders within the first minute. The food and service were fantastic. The waitress cleverly sold us on how good their cinnamon rolls are, so we had to try one. (They are more volume than quality, though they taste good.) My daughter ordered the Your Way (eggs, toast, and bacon) but asked for no bacon; the waitress immediately offered to substitute a side salad instead for no additional cost. I had the excellent biscuits and gravy. Within 45 minutes of arriving, we were done with lunch and never felt rushed. I will definitely return.

Bring your appetite

By tamleemorgan |

This was a great find! Service was excellent and food was amazing! Went for breakfast and had bacon Bloody Mary it was great!

Overhyped

By Serene S |

Having heard so much about the place decided to head down when I was in Seattle! Scrambled eggs too dry for my liking. Waffles not as crispy as I like it to be. Tomato soup which my hub has was good.

Delicious.

By Em |

Came here for dinner one evening, we were seated very quickly and the restaurant is clean and has loads of natural light. The menu is pretty good, with a range of different options, I opted for the chicken pot pie which was delicious. We found the prices to be very reasonable and thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, the service was excellent and we would definitely come back.

Bad service

By Mala2011 |

This was my husband's and my first visit to Seattle, and he was so sweetly excited to try this brunch place after reading the good reviews online. Also happy to see all the LGBT-friendly signs outside, on the walls. But we a long wait outside that weekend morning and once we were finally seated, our server was so indifferent and abrupt with us that we didn't appreciate the food at all. My pancakes were pretty dry anyway. Saw our server being very attentive and friendly with all other customers; wonder what we could've done immediately after we were seated to tick him off. Never again.

Bacon jam, yes please!

By emmatogo |

I went here for bacon jam. Got it. Loved it on my juicy burger ("The Burger"). Hubby loved "The Basic" burger as well. Sides of fries and lentil stew were also great. This restaurant had a great atmosphere, good service, and great outdoor seating. There were many things I'd like to order from their menu, and would definitely go again. Our friend did have the Heirloom Salad which was completely made of frisee lettuce which was so bitter he couldn't eat it.

Donut holes + Sammy + Coffee = cure for jetlag

By traut |

Nothing like the morning after a flight from Europe to give you the need for sustenance, and you'd probably find it hard to kick that jetlag harder in the teeth than to turn up just after opening, and hit your system with the fresh donut holes (with raspberry jam), a Sammy (with salad, if you are feeling "healthy"), and great coffee. If you really want to take the boat, push it as far out as you can and probably sink it, then the cinnamon roll is the answer.. be prepared to get that to-go-box, as it's is enormous and gorgeous.

Brunch in Seattle Cap Hill

By frankrY5603OD |

Great breakfast place with a patio. The service was good and very personable. The meals were a good size and you will definitely be full when you leave. Make sure you get there before 10.30; there was a line and a wait.

Minimal menu but yummy food

By Georgina B |

The food menu is pretty small, with lots of fried chicken!! I ordered the ultimate grilled cheese + fried chicken, which was pretty good but the cheese wasn't melted and the chicken didn't go too well with the sandwich. The drinks menu is big, with lots of different concoctions and options. The aesthetic is cute and diner-esque. May go back, but definitely not my first choice for brunch in the area.

Easy going atmosphere...delicious food!

By Martha811 |

I enjoyed a deep fried chicken sandwich while sitting at the bar on a bar stool. It was a good sized sandwich with a side choice of fries, soup or salad. They even offered poutine. I choose a bean soup that was very good. The food is fresh and I enjoyed every bite. I also enjoyed my interesting chat with a young women from Portland that was also eating alone.

Breakfast Celebration

By Geoff B |

After arriving in Seattle late last night, an early Sunday morning breakfast/brunch at the skillet diner was a delicious experience. We sat at the counter, by choice, the energy was infectious - coffee great then fried chicken on waffles with 2 poached eggs - perfect - crunch - hot - sweet. My partner had a veggie sandwich with the same fried crunch plus pickled onions, with a salad dressed the way it should be - overall a great start to our day.

Great food

By Lon K |

Surprisingly good food! And I don't mean good for an airport joint, I mean good for a down town joint. We were particularly impressed by the breakfast burrito. Yea it's pricey, but what would you expect? My only criticism is the tables are not as classy as the food.

Good meal at closing

By Steve R |

We were the last ones in at the airport and yet the service was very good. Sophana was helpful and friendly. A great hamburger and a sausage egg and cheese on steroids. We were very pleased.

Katie is awesome.

By RAlexandersven |

I had a great burger with a very unusual slaw. My server was fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Truly a post card of Seattle Dining

By Scott R |

This was my second visit to this popular Seattle destination, and I was just as pleased as my first first over 3 years ago.Located up the hill from bustling downtown Seattle, this restaurant combines very eclectic and tasty dishes severed with simple but vibrant flavors. If a comfort meal is what you seek, this the place to find it. The staff is friendly, genuine and open to sharing their suggestions with honesty that is refreshing. The theme to the restaurant is of a very natural appearance. Lots of wood and metal, and a great deal of window space allows the diner a view of the constantly changing flow of humanity outside. The prices are reasonable and you won't find a better value and true taste of a Seattle dining experience.

ILL SKILLet

By ccoupelin |

So i finally found my way to the Skillet Diner after years of trups to Seattle. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was awesome and the "morning taters" that came with it hit the spot. I left full and happy. The kids where happy with the pancakes and fruit and my wife thought the chilaquiles were ok. I would recommend this place for sure.

Make a reservation or plan to wait awhile

By FrancineS5060 |

First of all, the food is outstanding and there is often a wait for a table for that reason. But the servers are excellent and they keep things moving without diners feeling rushed. Highly recommend that you visit this neighborhood gem!

Great food. Great service

By Jasmin Galker V |

A wide range of gluten free food, really nice vibes and good service. Great place to start your day in.

This place was a life saver in the Seattle airport.

By Connie C |

We had a very limited time to eat between flights and this place was right by our gate (N17). We were so pleased that the food was absolutely delicious, fresh, homemade, incredibly quick and not as expensive considering the large portions as most airport food. Couldn't recommend it more!

Miss It So Much

By Kimberly R |

Wow!!! Super cornmeal waffles and pork belly. I have had nasty pork belly before. This is the best that I have had . It's straight up comfort food here. I saw people's mac and cheese. It looked divine. My husband and I both had breakfast. Yum!

Downtown Surprise

By Pris N |

I'm new to the area and was pleasantly surprised. This restaurant is within walking distance of my new condo. I had a fabulous salad this time but I'm eager to try some of their other dishes.

Super Breakfast Place

By 1550Burke |

Went to the Skillet Diner based on a recommendation from a friend who lives in the Seattle area. Did not disappoint - really cool place for breakfast. Had all of the normal breakfast foods along with some very creative breakfast foods - like their over sized donut holes. If their lunch and dinner foods are as great as breakfast - then a great spot for any time of the day!!

Good place to go w/ kids

By Leonardo F |

Very informal. Great menu. Kids liked it. BBQ sandwich was great. Good fries. Allergy sensitive and safe

Amazing food and staff :)

By Fifi |

What a gem of a place! The food was delicious and of generous portions (especially for someone from the UK). The serious toast was definitely serious!! I asked for sweet chill sauce which they did not have, however the waitress made me a great alternative which was amazing. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Would definitely return if I am back in the city.

This place is a gem!

By Marloc7 |

Oh my... the breakfast!! This place was near our hotel so we decided to give it try. And then we went back for more during our stay in Seattle! The breakfast was superb, and the service was wonderful. I had Mike's Scramble (changes daily) the two times we visited and it was great. My partner had the Serious Toast and the Pork Belly and Cornmeal Waffle. He loved both, but he highly recommends the Serious Toast. Definitely visit this place if you're looking for a fantastic breakfast!

Lots of yum and lots of fun!

By Pat P |

I had one of the best burgers I have ever had at Skillet. We were in town this past week and our daughter suggested we meet a friend there. Even better than the burger was our server, Steven, who was a hoot! From our first encounter with him we knew he would be lots of fun and he did not let us down. I would have given an excellent, instead of a very good rating but it was so noisy, so packed with people it was hard to communicate with our friends at times. Of course, this is a funny situation because it was so crowded and noisy because it is so popular! It is so popular because it is so good. Bottom line, if you don't mind a little noise it is well worth the trip in. You will not be disappointed with the food and you certainly won't be disappointed if you are lucky enough to have Steven as your server.

Chicken & Waffles Fresh Fast & Friendly

By ScottD58 |

Needing a break one morning and I was fixing on chicken and waffles, knowing Skillet serves em up fast, fresh and with friendly service. It would be hard to make em any better and with bottomless coffee, the deal is hard to beat.

Affordable & delicious!

By nationalbiscuit |

An awesome spot for breakfast! The griddle cakes were so so good. If you're looking for some hearty food, this is delectable!

Unusual and tasty

By Paul K |

skillet is located in one of the most eclectically colorful areas in Seattle and as the Capitol Hill neighborhood, so the restaurant. Fashioned to look like an old-style diner, it is anything but that. The menu is modern and earthy, with unusual combinations that work well together. Frazier would have eaten there for sure- they have tossed salad and scrambled eggs for breakfast. MMmm. MMmm. What is a boy to do??!

Yum!

By Steven M |

Arrived late, was looking for somewhere close by to the hotel, first place we went was out of half the menu, so just a block down further we came across this gem. Had the poutine fries, definitely recommend, and a bowl of the tomato bisque which was great! Husband had the pork belly and waffle, also very good. All in all, was very happy with our meal. Reasonably priced and we had seating outdoors! Would return, and that is saying something since I like to try new places especially in big cities.

Wow and yum

By TrailblazerFan4 |

Visited today on a solo trip and the other good reviews are right. Coffee is good and hot and fresh. I had the Serious Toast and it was awesome. Enough for two meals and leftovers I actually want to eat. Great food, would go again.

Great breakfast!

By CLj |

Biscuits and gravy. Best ever :-) I sat at the counter and the food was fast and hot. The service was fantastic. The crew was smiling and having fun with each other. Great vibe. Super nice. And really ... great B&G

Mixed bag on this experience.

The usually talented cook must have had an off day. 5 in my party had ordered their version of Chicken fried steak. Well, the stake, was a formed pot roast, lightly breaded with a sauce which had the salinity of the Dead Sea. The two huge chunks of meat was very tender but is not what chicken fried steaks should be. The sauce super salty and nothing resembling chicken fried. The Kale was a soggy mess, also too salty. The potatoes were the only edible portions on the plate. That item should be removed from the menu in its present form. I will try and save the leftovers in a steak scramble with Portobello mushrooms, potatoes cubes and caramelized onions. With a fine red Merlot to taste. The other 3 had fried chicken & Mac and cheese. Those were up to the standards of the Skillet Diner, excellent and the right taste.

Great diner for good food

By Robert |

I had breakfast here this morning and everything was really good. I would return in a minute but I would request that the music be turned down.?. I don't know if it's a Seattle thing or what but the music was obnoxiously loud the entire time I was there, which was about an hour and a half. Everybody just seemed to accept it.

Completely Mediocre

By Graham M |

My wife and I had dinner at Skillets. My wife has the Cobb salad (without the egg), and I had Mamas Meatloaf. While the servings were generous ( neither of us finished our meals), both were overcooked and therefore dryer and not as tasty as we expected.

Best Breakfast!

By NikiMarie |

We sadly waited until our last day to check out this place and were sad we didn't come here sooner! Such excellent food and close to our hotel! The cornbread waffle was new to me and I thought it was fantastic! Great coffee and service and overall a place I'd recommend if you're in the area!

You will leave both happy and full

By adalbert3 |

We made late brunch reservations and were not sure how far it was from the light rail stop--we walked from the light rail and got there 30 minutes ahead of our reservations. Instead of waiting, we happily sat at the counter---and actually it made for a better first-time experience as we saw all the various dishes move by as they were taken to tables. One thing for sure, you are not cheated with the portions---all servings are not only large, but everyone looked appetizing. Coffee and Bloody Mary's were a good way to get started---The Bacon Jam Bloody Mary did not disappoint. My wife had the Cobb Salad---grilled chicken thighs, soft boiled egg, bacon, bleu cheese, avocado, tomato, romaine hearts with red wine vinaigrette--she was pleased. I had the Chilaquiles--white corn tortillas, fire roasted tomatillos, Anaheim chiles, sour cream, pico de gallo, queso freaco with two eggs (your style--I went with sunny side)--I was really liked mine and was ready for a good long walk, as the serving was quite substantial. Even though they recommend one enjoys the donut holes before the entrée, I ordered them for dessert and took them in a bag and munched on them the remainder of the day. As I looked around the diner, I saw very few dishes that were not completely engulfed--which is amazing because the servings are all very large. This place has a good buzz to it, and I look forward to going back.

Great breakfast

By familyman9000 |

We went here based on a recommendation from our hotel. The food was excellent and we were there early enough we had no issues getting a seat. We were with a group and everybody enjoyed their food.

Sunday Brunch

By michelle w |

Sunday brunch at Skillet was a treat. Highly recommend this establishment for brunch. We made reservations and were seated pretty quickly. Most of us had Mike's Scramble which was awesome.

Poutine for breakfast

By dashark12 |

Basically the best mix of all things breakfast and then some. You hear some of the items on menu like fried chicken and kale scramble and you think "that's real?" It is and it's amazing. Although I always default to the poutine and the grilled cheese is excellent as well. Go early (8:30am) and you won't have to wait in line.

Great food, perfect for a weekend brunch.

By timjw13 |

Skillet is great for brunch and lunch, making a mean Bacon Bloody Mary! On my last visit I had the Kale Ceasar with friend Chicken thighs. It was garlicky, tangy and great. Definitely worth a visit!

A delicious breakfast in Seattle

By Jennifer B |

Our breakfast was delicious, we had the Chub Sandwich with fried chicken and the Deconstructed Hash, both were really good and very filling. The service was great, our waiter was attentive and fun.

Great food and good price

By Anthony B |

Went with a group of work friends. Everyone seemed pleased with a variety of dishes. I want to come back for breakfast sometime.

Superb Breakfast

By DAWG68-WA |

A must go to for Breakfast. You will not go home hungry from this place. We sat at the breakfast counter and got entertained by the head chef at peak breakfast rush. Bacon infused Bloody Marys to start. Then we moved onto the SERIOUS TOAST. Two colossal size soaked pieces of French Toast topped with a slice of Ham and your choice of two eggs any style. We could not finish it..........Expect to wait for a bit on the weekend, but is is worth it. They set out coffee for you to enjoy as you wait.

Aussie travellers at Skillet

By Peter S |

Breakfast menu was good. We had an our way breakfast each , and a normal house coffee each. I added sausage. The service was great and the breakfast was very tasty. The deco was warm . But the stainless steel counter and table tops are a bit too industrial for me. We spent about 5 days in Seattle and found that the cost of eating out is very expensive compared to our home town - Surfers Paradise .We ate at many different places in Seattle. But the food and service is of a high standard. We would recommend this cafe for breakfast. Just have to budget for it. USD 76.96 /AUD 123.00 for two, for breakfast .

Really good food

By Tanya T. |

I love restaurants that serve meals that are extraordinary -- this place is far away from the typical stack of pancakes and omelettes. I highly recommend the Serious toast. The service is attentive and food is very good!

Solid breakfast spot

By TPWEsq |

Just stopped by for a solo breakfast. I was recommended the breakfast burrito with avocado and barbacoa (a special for the weekend) - was honestly delicious and exactly what I was looking for. They also recommended to salsa verde to go with it, which was also very tasty! I didn’t have a drink so came to $22 w/ tip

Awesome breakfast!

By Holly D |

I had the deconstructed corned beef hash. It was soooo good! My husband had the breakfast sandwich and said that it was the best breakfast sandwich he's ever had. I liked that gluten free options were marked right on the menu. The staff weren't overly friendly, and we waited a long time for our meals, but we still enjoyed it overall.

Fun and yum

By SillySally14 |

We had dinner here, 2 kids and 2 adults. Drink prices were over the top high, but everyone got was very good.

Two words: bacon jam

By doctamale |

So this cozy little spot in Capital hill is one of my new favorites. Burger was cooked exactly as I requested, the bacon jam is straight from God, and they offer "poutine" as a side for everything. The only real gripe I had is the poutine doesn't use Beechers curd. Come on guys... local curd and you can call it poutine, otherwise it's cheesy wet fries. Points for trying thought!

Comfort Brunch

By TXMARTINS |

A fun breakfast place with great favorites, but also fun twists on breakfast like a friend chicken pancake sandwich! Served with fresh local greens to balance the heavier sides, this is a great place to take friends and families. Kid friendly with great daily specials, this is a place worth repeating.

Good...not blow you socks off though

By LLD2215 |

Had a great burger. Nice food, especially for a very casual lunch. Dinner was nice, but no energy in the restaurant, but we went on a Tues. nite.

Hearty... not necessarily Healthy!

By Ellen Fields |

Wow... the food here was delicious. A huge heaping plate of french fries, seasoned to perfection. Can't say this was a healthy meal, but that isn't why you go here. My dining companion, my daughter, had a Bailey's milkshake... a lovely, calorie-ridden cocktail on a hot summer day. The service was absolutely spot on. We loved sitting in a booth and watching the world go by. All very good... we will return and try some different food. A lot of very delicious plates went by while we were snacking!

Must go to this restaurant!

By rainduke |

This place is a bit spending spent 35 dollars for lunch but so worth it. I had the regular burger and my friend had the way you like...food was great very tasty, fresh and healthy choices. If you are looking for a healthy down to earth place to eat I recommend this restaurant fully...nice job oh service was exceptional and got food fast.....

Great food, friendly service, really nice relaxed vibe

By vjbar |

Lovely burger and beer/wine. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Draft beers on tap. Ambience was chilled. Loved it

Excellent upscale diner food

By ezeyofi |

Stopped by for some dinner and wound up with some excellent comfort food. Ordered a grilled cheese/tomato soup and the grilled corn. Both were delicious!

The best food!

By Mary K |

Love the skillet dinner. When I visit Seattle, I always stop in for breakfast. Wonderful comfort food and delicious. My favorite is the caramelized grapefruit and the cinnamon roll/bun. Big serving so we always share. The brioche toast is amazing. Always fresh and delicious. Great friendly service as well.

Worth the wait

By Camp007 |

Worth the wait , we we're staying in the capital hill area. Nice wait area with heated awing to stay warm and dry. All of us had bloody Mary's and the cinnamon roll , sage biscuit and gravy was wonderful. Very nice wait staff , we'll be going back again on this trip !

Great for late breakfast on Capitol Hill

By Daniel L |

Came here to check out some hot breakfast action. The service here, including being seated, was competent, but certainly not friendly. Obviously a very popular spot, so it was kind of loud. Still, cool, sleek interior designs with a couple of fun breakfast cocktail options. I wanted some breakfast food and ordered the chicken and waffle combination. This was my first time trying a corn starch waffle, and I can't say that I'm a fan. It felt really heavy and dry no matter how much butter and syrupI added, and this in spite of the fact that it was cooked to a golden brown perfection. The chicken, however, was delicious--crispy, tender, flavorful, in short, everything that deep-fried chicken should be. Overall, a good experience, but not a stand-out restaurant to me. I would go here again if I wanted breakfast or fried chicken and I was in the area.

Great Weekday Breakfast

By Patrick S |

Even at 10:30-ish on a Tuesday morning, this place was busy. I can understand why. This being my 2nd visit, I decided to really go for a special dish. My Grits & Belly was so very tasty, perfectly cooked, and a crazy big portion to boot. My companion's Mike Scramble was pretty good, but certainly not quite as noteworthy as my entree. Fast, efficient, friendly service. Thank you Salvador. Thumbs up.

Good but was better

By Aquabarra Hotel Concept Spa |

I was there 3 years ago and was amazing, Now is one more place in Seattle The hamburger can be better , either the French fries It was not anymore what it was

So, So Good!

By lakelady1316 |

Came here for a quick breakfast and it didn't disappoint! Loved the spicy breakfast potatoes and I had the daily scramble. I was also just finishing up Whole30 and I was able to find something on the menu that could accommodate, I will definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle!

Not good

By Susan67 |

We thought this would be a good place for dinner but the menu was very ‘beige’ & uninspiring so we left to find something more interesting which we did & we were glad that we walked

Huge mimosa pitcher!

By InflatableFurniture |

Lovely food, great portion sizes and good local food! Had a pitcher of mimosa and it was magical. Great service and good location for capital hill breakfast!

Serious French Toast

By DrColby |

My husband and I both ordered the "Serious French Toast," not realizing just how serious it was... a tower of two huge slices of brioche French toast, a generous helping of ham, two eggs on top, and raspberry jam holding it all together. We should have ordered one plate and split it. But not knowing that, we also ordered the cinnamon roll, which was a huge knot of goodness covered in icing. It was a ton of food, and expensive by our standards, but man was it all entirely delicious. We will come back here as a once-a-year treat.

Rude

By LWolowiecki |

Food sucks people were rude. We had better have all your party there because they are unaccomodatimg.

Delicious

By Craig I |

Ended up here on the recommendation of a lovely lady whose company I enjoyed on the plane over here from Amsterdam. And as it happens is a short walk from my son's apartment. We went for an early supper and I have to say the food was just delicious- in particular the steak salad with blue cheese dressing. Great cocktails too, most of which I had never tried but the Hot Susan- gin based- was very good once your mouth adjusted to the kick from the Tabasco. So refreshing that I had to have three! Very attentive service without being intrusive. And great value for money. I will definitely be back this visit and on subsequent visits. Can't sing its praises highly enough.

Lovely breakfast

By HannekeLeonie |

My friend and I went here for breakfast. Both our meals (pancakes and yoghurt/fruit/granola) were very good. The staff is friendly and the place looks nice.

Very tasty!

By Laura A |

Nice place. Went on a Sunday and didn't wait too long for a four top. Can book online reservation. Two in my group had the Bloody Mary and said it was really good. I had a mimosa and enjoyed it, as well. For my meal I had the biscuits and gravy- large portion and delicious! My husband had the fried chicken sandwich and said it was very good. Will definitely return.

Very unique. ..must go!

By KayCee Z |

I had the "deconstructed corn beef hash" the best thing I have tasted in a while...they even have liquor :) have a bloody Mary they're delish!

Mediocre American diner breakfast

By AlexanderCampy |

Came here because of the hype, very disappointed. Scrambled eggs are so horrendous they serve it with ketchup that only makes it worse. I got the griddle cakes, some were not even fully cooked and it's hard to spread the butter. Imagine a classical American diner with a hipster decor and hipster waitstaff and mediocre food, that's this place.

Great Spot for Brunch

By Spkr4life |

Excellent food and stiff drinks. Great spot for brunch. Might be a little wait but it's worth it. Great spot to walk for shops and other activities.

Delicious brunch

By westley_evan256 |

Could not decide between the grilled cheese and the burger so my mate and I ordered both and did halfsies! Both were really good! Great service and nice staff! Also loved the decor and the music!

AAA+ Breakfast

By Leslie Davenport |

We came to Skillet with our son for breakfast ( he bought what a guy! ) after staying the weekend in Seattle and getting ready for the drive home. I had the the breakfast burrito while my sweet husband had the breakfast sammy. Our son had the poutine. We were all very pleased with our meals and the service and atmosphere were excellent.

Don’t waste your time, go somewhere else.

By FrequentFlier95671 |

Sent back part of my meal cause it wasn’t even warm. Guy had zero personality and definitely should not work with the public. No greeting, didn’t ask if everything was ok, no thank you for coming, zero conversation skills, did not say a word when seating us, bringing out food or clearing plates. We will never go back, and if the tip wasn’t paid when ordering the food a tip most definitely would not have got paid. The experience wasn’t worthy of any tip. And the server should get another job where he doesn’t have to deal with people, he’s definitely not a people person.

Delicious Breakfast

By Peter W |

My wife and I ate at this restaurant on our last day during a long weekend in Seattle. I was somewhat tired being the Best man at my brothers wedding. I ate the biscuits in gravy and the food warmed my soul. The food was rich and had a lot of flavour. The portion was generous but overwhelming. The prices were $-$$. The service was excellent and the restaurant was very inviting. It felt like home. Cool part of town too.

Terrific Breakfast Option!

By misopiso88 |

It is hard to find a better place for breakfast in Seattle than Skillet! Fresh, seasonal and delicious, it can't be beat. Great lattes too! Our favorite is the deconstructed corned beef hash. Highly recommend if you are nearby.

Better food is needed

By Gonzalo V |

On holidays in Seattle and stopped here for brunch. The place is nice (good ambience) and the service is good. But the food certainly deserves upgrading. Allegedly roasted potatoes were brought only half cooked, tasted more like boiled. Sent them back to receive the same thing 5 min later. The eggs were not fully cooked also. They seemed to be rushing tho the place wasn’t full.

Just say “chub”

By ThomasR312 |

Stopped in for lunch w/ my daughter, scored a nice outdoor table. The chub w/ fried chicken was amazing - bacon, bacon jam, jalapeño aioli, and a fried egg - with super delectable crunchy tender tasty fried chicken thigh. Don’t pass it up! Plus friendly fast service and other great menu options too!

Great home cooking

By Chris F |

The food at Skillet is always great. Sometimes the portions are a bit big, and avoid on weekend mornings. The seattle brunch crowd can get a bit deep (30-45 minute wait). But the cin rolls and scramble are amazing!

Great place to eat!

By Tristan C. |

Visited the location in Post Alley, was quite impressed! Service staff were friendly and efficient. Food was great, mainly breakfast and lunch entrees. Food took some time to come out, but it was also peak lunch hours. Ordered an Eggs Benedict, and the wait was worth it! Would highly recommend!

Honey glazed cheddar bacon hush puppies...

By T. Hayes |

Skillet made me feel like I was in a cute NYC diner. My friend and I sat at the “bar” to get the full experience. I ordered the Kale salad with a chicken thigh on the side (PERFECTLY COOKED AND SEASONED). I also ordered a side of cheddar bacon hushpuppies that were so moist and full of flavor, the honey glaze took it over the top!

Amazing food and drinks

By Katie A |

This is seriously my favorite restaurant in Seattle - their burgers, cocktails, Southern food (mind you, it's more "fusion-y" than most places) are all great. It's really reasonably priced, especially in Seattle, and the decor/ service is also top notch. Only complaint would be the desserts, which are meh. Usually I'm too full to get dessert there, anyway!

Great burger at the airport!

By Brenda D |

Service was fast and friendly, cloth napkins, and fresh bottles of still water on the table. I had “the burger”, perfectly cooked, bacon jam, arugula, cheese. Toasted/fried bun, deliscious fries. My daughter had “the basic” and hers was done to order. It may not truly be a five but hot, fresh, yummy, and cloth napkins?!!

Poor food and poor service

By Adventurer71233 |

I visited earlier today and was shocked at how bad the service was. The staff were rude, and took a long time to take our order. The food did not taste good, and the mac’n’cheese tasted bland and cheap. Definitely will not be visiting again.

Fantastic breakfast and Gluten Free

By annapolitan51 |

Went for breakfast...had fantastic egg sandwich on gluten free bun..with bacon jam! Delicious Husband had breakfast wrap...also yummy. Hot coffee...great service

Really nice breakfast , great coffee

By Dave M |

Heard a lot about this restaurant . Very busy so important to book . Food was good , service very good . Will definitely be back. Nice ambience

Excellent pot roast!

By exaavb |

I went to Skillet expecting to get the chipotle cheddar mac & cheese. Or maybe something else interesting. But I asked the waiter for suggestions, saying that I was leaning to the mac & cheese, and he steered me in the direction of the pot roast. The pot roast is something that I am inclined to look over and avoid, But he assured me that it was exceptional. And it was! It came on a pond of mashed potatoes (which I love) with gravy (which I avoid like pot roast) and onions, With spinach on top, and I found myself picking off lovely chunks of the slow cooker pot roast and mixing them with the onions and mashed potatoes and spinach. Man that was good!

Revisit disappointing

By B. Richard |

Lunch last week for 4 included cobb salad, corned beef hash, grits & belly and a burger. Add 4 beverages at $3 apiece and we ended up with a bill of $66 plus tax - $72.27 not including gratuity. Given their service can often be full of attitude, we thought a return visit would still be great food. We've enjoyed the food truck before. Impressions: the chicken in the cobb salad tasted old to two diners and should have been sent back...the burger was about trimmings not the meat - a great burgers can be found elsewhere. The other two entrees were tasty. Coffee refills came often. Not a destination restaurant.

An excellent brunch - well worth it

By Dave M |

Went to Skillet Diner for brunch. Place was really busy (definitely worth it to make a reservation) . Great vibe, easy going and laid back. We had their scramble (it changes daily) and their de-constructed beef hash . Both were superb, just enough and very tasty. Ordered cappuccino's and these came in small mason jars. Very smooth coffee. will definitely go again.

A Cool Place For Weekend Brunch

By YY Y |

We had brunch there over the weekend and enjoyed! Tasty food, Good service, And thanks for the coffee while we're waiting for the table

Best Breakfast

By Tlflight |

Located in Capital hill area. This was the best breakfast in the area. Large portions and it was made to perfection. The daily scramble was my favorite. My wife had the Rob. It's a pancake sandwich of eggs cheese and bacon. Put a little natural maple syrup on top and you are in heaven. We consider ourselves foodies and this place tops the list.

Best Brunch on Capitol Hill

By CestJacque |

What a fabulous place to sit down and enjoy a simply marvelous brunch while exploring Capitol Hill...especially on a snowy late-March morning Not only are the breakfast burritos magnificent, but if you are lucky, you will have the pleasure of having Katie wait on you and be able to add her charm and bubbly personality to your absolutely perfect dining experience! As far as I am concerned, they is NO better place to eat on Capitol Hill...PERIOD

Bacon spread says it all!!

By Jayne M |

This place was amazing! I went with some girlfriends for lunch and split the grilled cheese with chicken with one of my friends which turned out to be more than enough food! The bacon jam was divine I had to buy a jar! My only regret is that I didn't get the bigger one! Great food, reasonably priced, and in an area where we could walk to the record store and ice cream shop!

great breakfast sammy

By Mike D |

stopped in for breakfast the other morning and got the breakfast sammy, taters and a coffee. The sandwich is fantastic. Could probably use mustard or may or something like that, but I thought it was great. Taters were a little chewier than I would have liked but they were ok. Service was quick and it;'s a great location.

Good for Brunch

By Jill K |

The menu was small but everything looked delicious! Didnt know what to try but decided on "the chub" with fried chicken & an over easy egg, poutine fries & pork belly with grits. It was all good & rich! The potatoes that came with the sandwich was sooo good it almost tasted like thanksgiving stuffing. The fried chicken would be perfect with some rice. The gal next to us had the cobb salad and it looked soooo good! I'll have that with another dish to share the next time. All the dishes were as pretty to look at as it was tatsy. We've always wanted to try this place & glad we finally did. We'll definitely be back...soon!

Southern Skillet Deliciousness

By tahass |

Had dinner here with a friend while visiting Seattle. Much mire than just a diner. Love the culinary creativeness of the menu. Hard to decide what to order .... The entire menu is Foodie Heaven.

Worth the trip!

By cindyb |

WOW! Very cool place in Seattle. Food was excellent as was the service. I had the fried chicken that was fantastic. Fun drink menu too!

Pleasant, but nothing special

By pmjc |

Really looked hard to find a breakfast place in the East Seattle neighborhood where we were staying. Drove here, found a parking spot (pretty easily) and settled into a comfy booth. Coffee, both regular and decaf, were quick to arrive and were excellent. We both had "My Way" - your choice of eggs / bacon / baguette/ b'fast potatoes. The eggs were cooked properly and the bacon was crunchy-good. The baguette was toasted, and therefore hard and crumbly, and the potatoes had been cooked in too much something - couldn't really place the flavor, though the menu said rosemary. The plate was accompanied with small dishes of ketchup, butter, and a very good jam - in fact it may have been some of the jam that got into the potatoes. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, with everyone pitching in. The salt and pepper grinders had been handled once too often with out a thorough cleaning, which was a turn-off - made you wonder if corners were skipped in the kitchen as well. So that took it down a notch.

Nice place for breakfast

By Bob_32725 |

On a trip to Seattle, we were taken to the Skillet for breakfast by friends for my birthday. We were quickly seated and our server took our drink orders. Shortly thereafter, our orders were taken and we were surprised at how quickly everything was brought to the table. Everything was exactly as described and was delicious. The "disassembled corned beef hash" was to die for! Attitudes and service by everyone here was top notch. Prices seemed a little high for what we ordered, but taking into account it is in Seattle, is pretty much on par with everything else. One additional note was one of the servers (sorry I forgot his name) took quite a while telling us about places to see while in town. He even went as far to track us down prior to us leaving to tell us about another place we should visit. Excellent food, place and service makes this place a definite place to visit when in town. We would go back if ever in Seattle again.

Really great breakfast

By Holliepawlak |

We stayed near here and found it on yelp. The food was so good. I have the deconstructed cornbeef hash. We also splurged on the donuts which are incredible. Really creative ideas. Left full and happy.

Over rated American comfort food style restaurant, nothing basic tasting about any of thier food (Carrots in Corn beef h

By Michael B |

Walking around capitol hill early one morning, came across this place, so fancying an early meal popped in. They must have fired all the staff, for the service was terrible and had no idea what she were serving, and the cook must have upgraded from the bus boy for had no culinary skills what’s so ever. My ordered of corn beef hash turned out to be beef stew with large pieces of meat, carrots, potatoes, with a poached egg on top, while my companions cobb salad, consisting of piles of chunky tomatoes, chicken, bacon bits on a piece of lettuce with a soft poach egg on top! Disgusting. As for the bill, all the restaurant server was missing was a pistol and mask. Will never visit this place again especially when Capitol hill has so many great places to eat. TIP: The Coffee and Tea are ok here, if that’s all you want.

Such an excellent restaurant

By js1202 |

Went here twice on a weekend visit to Seattle. Can't recommend it highly enough. First time, lunch, had a delicious Chicken Salad Sandwich which was so delicious. Went back the next day for breakfast (make a booking, or be prepared to wait) and everything was great--highly recommend the scramble. When we were there was made w/ fried chicken, kale, and goats cheese. HEAVEN.

Best brunch I've ever had!!!

By millerchristina2017 |

This place serves AMAZING food. The best brunch I've ever had and the best bloody mary I've ever had! My friend had the Chilaquiles and I had the Breakfast Sammy, and we shared our dishes. I highly recommend both! Also, we went for brunch on a Sunday morning, and it was pretty crowded, but the wait wasn't long and the service was still very good! Go eat here!

Fantasric

By Desiree S |

I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to dining in airports- service, selection, price... I literally hate airport dining for these reasons. After a cancelled flight, Alaska gave us some meal vouchers so (despite risking crappy service and poor selection) we landed at Skillet. I am SO GLAD I was willing to give it a try. The menu had delicious-sounding (and looking) options. Our server, Brenda, was awesome. Even though we had the vouchers, I was pleased with their prices (and would’ve gladly paid). It was a great value! We will be back!

Tasty comfort food

By John T |

A real crowd pleasing sort of place (and we were a crowd, and they handled us great). Everyone enjoyed what they ate and drank. My chicken sammy was awesome. Drinks were innovative and delivered. would go back.

Lean head back, open mouth, hang tongue out, make gurgling sound...

This was good. This was very good. I am a vegetarian and that limits my review opportunities. So please take that into account. Being a vegetarian, I know my way around a mac and cheese meal. This was one of the best mac and cheese dishes I have ever had. But first, let's rewind. The Skillet Diner is a diner. The dishes are relatively simple and the atmosphere is informal. I like diner counters because you can see all of the action in the kitchen. The kitchen crew is tight. They are talking about food half the time and giving each other a hard time the other half of the time. They bark out meal orders and everybody knows their job. The wait staff is friendly and always moving. The place has a high hipster factor, so there is plenty of body ink and fedoras. The atmosphere is diner appropriate, but with plenty of natural light and very, very clean. My mac and cheese was not diner cheap, but it was worth it. It had a great top texture with a sweet red pepper that really added to the cheese combination. I had a chance to see several meals move from the kitchen to the customers and the presentation was always top notch. The portions are generous and I would like to suggest that if you have leftovers, have them put it in a carry out box with a plastic fork and give it to any of the many homeless people camped out in any of the neighboring blocks.
