We've been going here occasionally for years. The food on Saturday was awful. The onion soup bland, no onions, the burger tasteless. My chicken was dried out. I don't know if it changed owners but the food subpar. Service was good though.

This is a local place that we go to quite often. The food is solid and reasonably priced but while service is friendly it often gets bogged down during peak times.

My family, friends and I have been going here for many years and have never been disappointed - not matter what dish we ordered. Great neighbored place that's been there for many years. Prices are reasonable, service is good. Ribs, burgers, and fish are always top notch, especially the Sole Franchaise. I always wonder how that fish is so fresh every time - And tasty, too! I feel really comfortable at this place. Homey atmosphere and never feel rushed. Great for brunch and lunch too!

We have been here many times but not in the last two years because we moved out of state. Still great food and great drinks in a wonderful friendly atmosphere. Hamburgers are still the best!!!

I've been coming here for the better part of a decade and have yet to be disappointed. The food is always delicious and a great value. The burgers are served on sandwich sized english muffins (great touch) and are truly to die for. The food is consistently fresh and tasty and the menu so diverse, it's tough to get bored. They also offer a page of specials that can make it difficult to make up your mind. Old standbys: Personal pizza appetizer, fried calamari, burger, steak au-poirve, chicken saltimboca, or francese or marsala. The service is always friendly and professional, the atmosphere is not too loud and the restaurant's decor makes you feel you're at an old friend's home for dinner. The bar area is lively but also not too loud and features enough choices to tempt nearly everyone.

Came here with my kids to try skinflints famous burgers and I'm sorry to say I was disappointed. We had to wait 30 min for a table on a Friday evening which is understandable. The service was mediocre. The waiter/server had that let me just serve this next table and can't wait to go home energy . They wanted to clear the table so fast without us finishing the food . I ordered my burger medium . It was almost rare. Didn't even realize that you had to order lettuce and tomato upon request for the burger . What ??? These are basic burger ingredients. I will not be returning .

This place has really good food. Steaks and Salmon are always really good. If you sit at the bar def. a hamburger. They have a great nachos, every time I go my friends and I get them. Made a bit different but they are really good. Staff is generally always friendly and the prices are decent.

They have a fairly standard menu featuring your typical American favorites. Their prices are reasonable and their food is tasty. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. If you happen to be in the Bay Ridge area and looking for a local place to have a drink and a bite to eat, Skinflints is worth the stop.

We have come here quite a bit and the food is always wonderful. Sunday brunch has a very varied menu. Dinner entrees are very substantial and reasonably priced. I have enjoyed the shrimp entrees and the fish and chips. The lunch menu is very good too. Nice sandwiches as well as hot items.

Their burgers & beer are great! Service at tables need improvement, granted I was there during Christmas season but the servers were clueless & just interested on tuning over tables. We had a great time & service at bar.

this place is great, its been there 30 years.every dish is delicious, but my favorites are the burgers on thomas english muffins or baby back ribs slow cooked to perfection.its cozy dining rooms, outdoor garden and monkey bar are always bouncing. theres a real neighborhood feel to this place.

Stumbled into Skinflints after an afternoon of Century 21 shopping with the family. Needless to say, all 5 of us were looking forward for a tasty meal and good relaxing atmosphere. Skinflints did not disappoint. Beaming with historical vibe restaurant gets you from the get go by the very welcoming atmosphere. The interiors of the place are done very diligently to capture the feeling of old NY. The hostess' greet you smilingly and offer you a seat at the table of your choice (if the are choices). People working there are really nice and helpful. Menu is full of options and everything we have tried was very tasty and resembles home cooking in the best sense of it. we have tries 3 different burgers from the menu and each and every one of them was amazing. Appetizers were perfect and i highly recommend their wings. the rest of our group had other dinner dishes and once again they were cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place to anybody looking for indulging their taste senses.

On a recent trip into Brooklyn we stumbled upon Skin Flints. A cute neighborhood bar and grill. we were lucky to get the last table before the crowds arrived. The burgers were nice, juicy and served on an oversized English muffin. service was good, friendly and attentive which was as good as the taste of the food. will definitely return when in the area

Adult son lives in Brooklyn, we decided to go here and have lunch. We both had a sandwich. The weird thing is we realized almost to the end that our sandwiches weren't accompanied with fries or anything but we both decided we were fine with the sandwiches and didn't even bring it up. I had a BLT, always good. Cannot now remember exactly what son had but an Italian sandwich of some kind. We both had a craft beer. It is a nice atmosphere and friendly service. I wrote months ago that the womens' bathroom is in dire need of remediation and that is, unfortunately, still the case. A bathroom is a restaurant should be both clean and pristine, they really need to spend some bucks and update this one!

Nice local spot. Came for the burgers. My friend loved hers. My cheddar burger and fries were only okay - cheese was processed - I would have preferred real cheese.

The food is actually pretty good. I loved their burgers, done to perfection till my wife decided to get chicken scampi. Wow. The only thing is that the restrooms need a bit freshening up and some of the chairs need updating. Staff is friendly and courteous.

I have lived in Bayridge and this is the first time I have had an opportunity to dine here; very nice warm cozy friendly place, good food, excellent service

I'm lucky enough to live a block from Skinflints in Bay Ridge. The bar is really beautiful. They've preserved the original Art Nouveau architecture (stained glass, tin ceilings, Tiffany- esque lighting), but yet its still a local, low- key hang out. The customers range from younger people in their late 20s and 30s, like myself, or older guys who have lived in the neighborhood for decades. My husband raves over their Chicken Pot Pie, and the ribs are their signature item. There are a lot of shady looking bars in the area, but with Skinflints right there on the corner of 5th & 79th, there really is no reason to go to those places. Its certainly one of those bars where you don't feel weird eating "real food" and not just frozen fried bar food. And the prices are reasonable and the service is nice as well.

First time to Skinflints. Came with friends to have a late dinner. Crowded on a Thursday, but the wait wasn't more than 20 minutes. Menu varies from burgers to full dinners. Ordered their homemade Chicken Pot Pie and was very satisfied. Fast and friendly service.

I went here a few times when living in Bay Ridge and returned for a quick drink on my last trip to NYC. The burgers and beer aren't as great here as they are at other Bay Ridge bars and the place looks older and could use improvement. Visit here only after visiting other Bay Ridge bars, its not a priority place to visit.

Skinflints is known for their delicious burgers, but they have quite an extensive menu of American food. The service is excellent and the food is as well. Prices are reasonable for food as well as for wine. We chose the house red wine which was very good, a montepulciano. Friendly neighborhood place. Parking is on the street. In addition to their indoor dining, they now feature outdoor dining as well.

I'm in NY visiting my father Charlie for the week. He took me to skinflints (One of his favorite neighborhood haunts) the first night I arrived in New York City. I suggested we go back again on my last night. Both times the food and service was excellent. Gerard, the owner greeted us on our second visit and welcomed us back. This is a great place to meet family and friends for drinks and a meal. We had French onion soup, salad's, and steaks all cooked to perfection. The staff was courteous and attentive. We couldn't be happier and will definitely be back again!

Been coming here for years, Its like the cheeseburger deluxe at a diner. you look at all the other restaurants in Bay Ridge but you know if you go to Skinflints you will never be disappointed.

Great local pub. Used to be an ice cream store. Bar up front with a dining room in the back as well as an outdoor patio. Good family place with good food and reasonable prices. Excellent burgers that are served on a toasted english muffin. Street parking only.

Nice atmosphere for a bar crowd! Good food, Great Hamburgers and fries .. Owner very accommodating and thoughtful! Service good. Friendly neighborhood place!

Their hamburger plate was delicious! Lots of rolls, flatbreads and breadsticks on the table. Very reasonably priced dishes and lots of beers!

A very cool laid back restaurant bar. Tv's all over, huge selection of beer and the flame broiled burgers are great. Staff is very friendly.

This is an old neighborhood place you will love. Locals galor & the food is great. You will love this place.

Skinflints is a lovely dinning establishment. They serve delicious food for lunch and dinnner and have a fabulous brunch on the weekends. The nightlife isn't too bad but I come for their burgers which are one of the best that I've ever had. They have a nice little courtyard outdoor seating area which is great on nice summer nights and offer friendly and fast service.

Stopped here for food on the way back from dyker heights christmas lights. Gorgeous place and the Christmas decor is gorgeous! Staff very friendly and food was delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend a visit if in the area. Approx 50 dollar taxi from manhattan.

Went on a really busy Friday night, place was packed with diners. We waited for about 20 minutes but it was well worth it. We both ordered the same burger and it was juicy delicious as always. Skinflints never disappoints...try it if you are nearby, you will love me for it.

Stopped in while exploring Bay Ridge and had a burger and a beer. The other reviews have it right. Excellent burger, with just the right amount of crunchy goodness. And the melted cheddar was top notch too. Fries and beer right on as well. The rooms are attractive and comfortable. Staff and guests friendly and social. Must be fun in the evening.

Good burger place and bar. just stick with the burger.

Dined last night with Large table of 8. Great food great service always remember us and we truly enjoyed the evening.

It is almost like walking into Cheers, for when you walk through the doors, you are bound to meet a friend or two. The best burgers and fries are easy choice, but be sure to look at the day's specials. The servings are quite ample and most patrons are able to take the extras home. The wait staff are very pleasant and quick with service. One our favorite go to restaurants!

My daughter was in from Colorado so I didn't want to go to any place pretentious. There is nothing like a good burger so we went to Skinflints on 5th. During the day it's a great place to go for lunch, at night a little hard to park. Worth the effort!

I've been to Skinflints a few times, and enjoyed every visit. The service is good; friendly but not intrusive, and the burgers are among the best I've ever had. Prices are competitive for the area- the place is family friendly, but fine for couples and groups and friends' night out.

This is seriously one of the best food establishments in the world in my opinion. There hamburger is the best burger in Brooklyn and the ribs are better than most places that are famous for ribs. The chicken pit pie is unbelievable and oh yea, the shrimp scampi is great. The prices are very reasonable. If you've never been here just go.

A group of four of us went to Skinflints and sat outside in the patio. After the other table finished and left, we had the whole patio to ourselves and loved it. One person ordered sole, another had a blue cheese burger and two of us split a cheddar bacon burger. The burgers came with sweet potato fries. The burgers were made of tasty ground beef that was cooked just right. For dessert we ordered an ice cream ball that was half chocolate and half vanilla. It had chocolate syrup and whipped cream on it. We eat every bit of it. All in all, the food was very good and the portions adequate. Since we are visiting from the West Coast, the chances of us returning are slim but we will tell friends who might be in New York to look it up.

Great burgers and cozy outdoor patio in the back you'd never expect based on the dark entrance.

If you are travelling to Brooklyn and want to try a real authentic neighborhood place - go to Skinflints. It's filled with antiques and photos of Brooklyn from almost a century ago. But what's most important is that the food is spectacular. At one point I was eating there 3 times a week - because I didn't want to eat anything else. My favorite dishes are: Dill Salmon special with mashed potatoes Chicken Pot Pie Barbeque Chicken Turkey Burger Oh and make sure you try their house salad and their vinigrette! It's the best dressing ever! And the I think the food is pretty healthy. It tastes absolutely home-made!

Good food, friends usually get the burgers, i get the turkey burger. Usually good service. It's pretty much the go to place when you dont know where to go. Kitchen is open until 2am on weekends (great for a late night dinner)

This is a Bay Ridge staple. Since 1975 this local hangout has been serving great pub grub. The burgers come in several varieties and are spectacular, but in my opinion the ribs are as good or better than any bbq place I've been to in Brooklyn. Their lunch menu is smaller than the dinner menu but there are still many great dishes. Good selection of draft beers and icy cold bottled beer. Service is always great. On nice days there's alfresco dining on the backyard patio. You can also eat at the bar and there are a few small tables in the bar area. Love this place and will be coming back for another 42 years.

Had dinner there last night. Service was great. Loved the zucchini sticks app. Meatloaf dinner for me. Broiled chicken for the wife. Everything was great. Looking forward to a return trip!

Had a burger. It was delicious. My husband loves the chicken pot pies. Nice bread assortment on table. Lots of beers. All in all a reasonably priced place and lots to choose from.

I've only had the hamburger plate, but you really get a hefty piece of meat with fries (choice of regular or sweet potato fries or baked potato or baked sweet potato) for a very good price. The rest of the menu looks extensive and reasonably priced. Service is friendly and efficient.

We were finished seeing all the decorated houses in Dyker Heights, so we came here for dinner. It was a little later in the evening, so it wasn't extremely crowded, but it was busy. We were quickly seated in the back, and the services was spot on. We loved the pizza as an appetizer, and probably could have had a salad and made it dinner. Instead, we ordered more food, and it was all fantastic. Excellent restaurant!

We have gone to Skinflints for years, especially when we are in the mood for a burger and a beer. Skinflints has been part of Bay Ridge for a long time and it has a cozy, old-time feel to it. The food is good but we usually just order burgers, which are really good. It is also a nice place to just stop by for a drink, especially for the older crowd.

Great burgers, great service, great ribs, great atmosphere, they keep the prices reasonable. Great pot pie, great shepards pie. What else can I say?

The building that houses Skinflints is vintage, with stained glass, tile floors, and brick walls. It was originally an old time ice cream parlor. The bar is located as you walk in, then there are two dining rooms. They start you off right away with a very generous bread basket with a variety of rolls and flatbread. We both ordered blue cheese burgers, which were cooked to perfection. They are served on English muffins, rather than standard hamburger buns. The burgers are very large and come with French fries, also delicious. Service is good and prices are reasonable. It was very prettily decorated for Valentine’s Day. Parking is on the street.

Skinflints has consistently been one of the best restaurants bay ridge has to offer. Delicious comfort food at an affordable price. Best burgers, great ribs, and the greatest French onion soup.

The food ia great, but restaurant simple with pub yet eclectic feel. The salmon oreganatto was delicious and so was the calamari. My boyfriend and I were stuffed after and our wallets in good shape !

went on a Thursday afternoon, rather early, and the place was already packed. Excellent atmosphere, perfect and fast service and the food was impecable. Large portions, french fries to die for, big and delicious salads. I highly recommend this place

Always like to go to Skinflint's at the holiday season as they decorate beautifully, with lots of sparkling lights. This makes the stained glass and vintage bar look even prettier! Their burgers are excellent, but make sure to specify exactly how you like it cooked. Prices are reasonable, service is friendly and attentive. Parking is on the street.

Son and I are looking at possibilities for his first home to buy. We wanted to go to the brisket place across the street but it was closed. Son has been here before. One table was occupied in the restaurant area and we got a table. Soon the other table left. My son said the ribs were ok and I thought the same about the hamburger. The server, Cathy, was seemingly oblivious to us and our needs. She didn't notice us whatsoever, sitting at the bar eating her lunch! Took a long time to get water when asked, coffee when asked and check, when asked. It's an ok place, I like the atmosphere even mid-afternoon there were a lot of people at the bar. When dirty plates are on the table it is a big signal that people are FINISHED! More attention by this gal to her job would be good.

Good American food. Great bartenders (Robert & Callahan)! But, the place needs an update. Ugly, dirty bathrooms. Poorly stocked. Stools by the bar are ancient and uncomfortable... They're covered with an old, dirty rug that needs to be replaced (at the very least cleaned and disinfected).

Love the burgers, the brunch, everything I love. Best burgers in Brooklyn. Can go in alone and eat at bar and watch a game on big screen

Loved walking to Skinflints from the Best Western Gregory Hotel. The food and service were outstanding. Large, spacious interior/ quaint unique atmosphere. Try the burgers, chicken, or fish and chips. Large selection of beers on tap too. We will return!

Had the opportunity to meet a cousin and eat lunch at Skinflints while in NY during Christmas week. This corner establishment, located on a busy Brooklyn avenue, was such a pleasant surprise! We were seated immediately and enjoyed our meal. I had the french dip beef sandwich and cuz had a hamburger; we both ordered the sweet potato fries as a side. We totally enjoyed our meals. The restaurant's seating is a small but lively and busy area. There appeared to be an outdoor seating area (for the warmer months). Our server was attentive and didn't appear to be in any rush for us to leave while we continued chatting during coffee. I would definitely return.

Great burgers.

Located in the heart of Bay Ridge, this cozy bar-restaurant has the most amazing food. The spare ribs are the best!

great burgers. Unhealthy as hell... but sometimes, it's worth it.

Drinks were good and the staff was extremely attentive. The calamari was as good I have had anywhere. The burger was excellent with the exception of the English muffin. I am not a big bread water anymore but I will if it is a good quality. The English muffin that the burger was served on was cold and had a previously frozen ( I'm not saying it was) consistency. Still not a negative, the burger was that good that I enjoyed it with a knife and fork

It's refreshing to go to a classic bar in Bay Ridge without being surrounded by old Brooklyn locals with old Brooklyn accents- for once. Went here multiple times for a couple of beers, nice window to sit by to people-watch. Bartenders are polite and the bar is clean. Should I go on?

Always a neighborhood favorite whether for cocktails, lunch, or dinner. Awesome burgers served on English muffins. Great chicken pot pie...make sure you have plenty of time as it takes a while to be served. Make sure you visit the bar when James, Alan, or Frankie are working. They're the best bartenders in Brooklyn!

We had a good dining experience at Skinflints. My mom grew up in Bay Ridge and we decided to bring her back to her old neighborhood for dinner and we stumbled upon Skinflints. We are so glad that we did! The food and service were fabulous! I had the roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. The roasted chicken was moist and nicely seasoned. My husband and daughter enjoyed their hamburgers and fries. My mom thought her fish and chips were delicious! The portions were large. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful! Skinflints was also kid friendly which was an added bonus since we had our three year old with us. Looking forward to going back!

Great burgers. Good shrimp and potato skin made a good lunch Always good. The best burger for years Beer cold as ice and service number one

The Hamburger here is really good. If your in Bay Ridge you should give it a try. Two thumbs up..... Instagram: @tommiesox

Great local restaurant / pub in Bay Ridge. Food is very good and it’s very nicely decorated. We had lunch on lunch on a Saturday and had no difficulty finding parking.

This pub type restaurant is located in Bay Ridge. Nice atmosphere, if a little dark. Service is attentive, and efficient. Food served is standard pub type fare, with comfort food thrown in. The night that I went with my family, there was a wait for a table, but not longer than 5 minutes or so. Nice place to enjoy a brew and dinner.

We go here often. When we just want to get out for a while. Grab a drink and a bite and not be ripped off for a hamburger and pot pie. There's always a good crowd and if you have to wait for a table it isn't a long wait. The food a very good! The best BB ribs in town! Yes, this place could use a lot of repair. The rest rooms are disgusting to say the least. I wish they would put a little $$ in this neighborhood gem. Repair some tiles, update the rest rooms (PLEASE!) and give the place an all-over good scrubbing. Nonetheless, the prices are right, the food is good and everyone is pleasant.

Didn't really like the burgers here, neither did the person I went here with. Been eating alot of burgers in my life and this is the worst I've had. Not coming back.

This place is a true gem. The food is always good as well as the service. Their prices are extremely good considering how good the food is. First off, best burgers in Brooklyn. You will get used to the English Muffin bun. I didn't like it my first two times but it grew on me. The shrimp scampi over rice was excellent! So was the shrimp cocktail and calamari. My friends grilled chicken was also very good.

Pleasant ambience, comfortable, friendly... good Long Island Iced Tea. Worth visiting alone or with friends.

Their rack a ribs are the BEST!!!! Every time I crave ribs i come here and i am very picky (i hate fat on ribs)! I know, it sounds weird but I dont eat fat. But Skinflints ribs barely have any fat and always meaty with their homemade bbq sauce. So good. I also like their potato skins and their zucchini sticks!!! Great spot to have a beer with friends and eat some amazing food.

This is a great spot. Our go to spot when we are in Brooklyn. Absolutely the best burgers around. Everything always seems fresh and we love the english muffins that are served with the burgers. Good service and the kicker is how great they decorate the place for Xmas. Would love to bring my grandchildren here. They would love it.

Great chicken dish tonite- chix with fruit- plums, pears and grapes-yummy- please do it again!! Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The building is from the early 1900’s and has all the ambiance from the stained glass to the beautiful old bar. They are known for their burgers which are always excellent. A delicious bread basket with flatbread and rolls comes out first. Service is friendly and attentive. The prices are reasonable. I agree with a previous reviewer that the women’s bathroom needs updating; however I didn’t find it to be unclean, just needs some modernization. Sports type bar with television. Parking is on the street.

I have been to Skinflints before and it was very good. This trip it appeared the customer service staff were too busy chatting with one another to pay attention. I was brought a burned bun witha burger on it that was dry and fries were cold. Waiting for the server to return, my party was finished with their meals. Usually I always go to The Salty Dog-this was my punishment.

We were in Brooklyn for a friend's moms wake so we decided to make the best of a sad day & went to Skinflints for a burger & beer before hand to celebrate Dora's life !!! We had one of their famous burger on an english muffin & a cobb salad with grilled chicken; all arond a strong 10

This is a pub style restaurant with a large bar. Their burgers are fantastic and cooked to order. They have various sandwiches, appetizers and pub style food. On Sunday they have brunch which is very good. It's always very busy. They also have a few tables outside in their courtyard. The staff are very efficient. They don't have parking so you will have to find street parking.

We went to Skinflints for lunch to Celebrate Toni's 40th Birthday. The is awesome and attentive. The food was great would most definitely come back again

You can't go wrong here.French fries, onion rings, beer, burgers and such. You can't beat it. I've been here a few times in my life and never had a bad meal.

This place deserves to be highlighted and known!! Very friendly waiters, nothing to do with Manhattan, the food is very good, the portions are more than adequate. The quality/price ratio is unbeatable!! Christmas atmosphere also for the period. Great !!

Always a good time to be had at Skinflints. Their appetizers are mediocre so skip those, and don't bother with the French onion soup but their ribs, burgers and chicken scampi are quite delicious.

Was waiting for a friend, since I was unfamiliar with the area I asked my friend a good place that we can meet she recommended this place. What a great place the beer was nice and cold. The bartender was fabulous I would definitely go there again...👍

Wowwwww choo choo - AMAZING decor Fabulous margaritas Food was ok - but the atmosphere, decor and service makes this one of my favourite restaurants in Brooklyn

We recently had a family reunion in Bay Ridge and we needed a spot that could accommodate a large crowd and offered great food and drinks. SKINFLINTS came through on all counts. Gerard the owner was very gracious and made us feel very welcome. The food was excellent and the service magnificent. We enjoyed it so much we had a few visits to Skinflints. We will be back again. And thank you again Gerard for a great family experience.

Chicken pot pie, hands down. Bay Ridge is known for is restaurbars, and this is probably the top of the line.

Everything that I've had here is amazing. I love the honey mustard chicken dish, the burgers are to die for, the Reuben is amazing, amazing French dip sandwich and French onion soup. Except a long wait on a Fri or Saturday night.
Needs updating, ok food.
Son is back in this area after a 3 year absence. We ate here 2 or 3 times back in the day. We came for a late lunch and had Miss Kathy as our waitress and she is fine. We each had a beer. Son had a Guinnes Pint (6) and he ordered Mom a Coney Island IPA (also 6). Son says (he's in the industry) that they need a better beer list. This place looks much older than they say it is (1975 I think) but, regardless, could use some updating though it does have SOME ambience. Mom had to go to the bathroom and the womens' is disgusting. Seriously needs renovation now and it made me wonder how the kitchen looks and how clean that is? I ordered fish & chips (13.95) the fish was good, 2 pieces but a bit too greasy for real enjoyment of the dish. Son ordered steak and eggs (12.95). I asked 'how was it' and he said 'for the price, ok.' Total without tip was 41 bucks or so. We will come again but this place seriously needs a bit of updating. And I worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen because it is lacking in the womens' bathroom at least.........
