I have lived in the ATL burbs for 25 years and have always heard that Smith's was a great live music venue. I was not lied to. This was an awesome venue for music. The band I saw was in the upstairs room and I saw another band playing in a very small room off the main bar. Such a cool place. The atmosphere was definitely dive bar with a story to tell. The pictures on the wall included all kinds of familiar faces. Very reminiscent of Manuel's Tavern in the Highlands. Decent beer selection and not overpriced. Standard bar food menu. 12 Boneless wings and tater tots cost about 10 bucks. I hope to go back soon.

Concerts: Let's be honest, this is the reason you're going here if you don't live in the immediate area. But, that's no problem, as this is one of the best small venues in Atlanta. They host a lot of national acts, some of which you may have heard of, as well as a lot of local acts as well. The upstairs venue is pretty good. Bar, food service, plenty of space, and good acoustics. They also realize that a room of that size doesn't need the speaker volume on 11, so that's a plus. The Atlanta Room (small side venue downstairs, which seems to get a name change every few years), isn't bad, but the design is poor. The stage faces a wall, which is no more than 6 feet away, and the room opens up on each side of the stage. Not terrible, but not a great set up either. Also seems to be the forgotten area of the bar, as its in desperate need of a spruce up. Food: The food is pretty good. It is pub/bar food, but I've actually been pretty impressed with the quality. Burgers are always prepared well, chicken tenders are homemade and quite delicious, and the fries are awesome. Drinks: Their specials and regular prices can't be beat. $2 High Life bottles, $4 Pints on Miller, BL, etc., and even their alcohol is cheap. $6 Stoli and Sprite, $5 for JD Tennessee Honey on ice....not bad at all, especially for a city bar. Atmosphere: Great. A pool room, a 'dining' room (sitting tables, stool tables as well, easy to hang out in here late), and the bar room. Then the concert spaces. They basically have a space for you to hang out in for whichever mood you might be in. Service: Top notch, and I mean that! If more places had staff like Smith's, the world would be a better place. The bartenders will get to know you if your sitting at the bar, and especially if its a slow night, and will even introduce themselves (why don't more places do that?). And even the servers will take a few to chat if you're up for it. Great, mostly friendly staff. In the end, you really can't beat Smith's for a fun night out!

Went here for the Atlanta Science Festival comedy show and concert and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a quaint old building with a full bar, pool tables, and a small stage upstairs. The kitchen was closed for renovations during my visit, but I'm under the impression they would typically have a full menu. Overall, a pretty fun spot.

We've been to Smith's a ton of times, and the atmosphere is always great. Whether you're shooting pool, meeting a group for dinner/drinks, hanging out at the bar, or listening to live music, Smith's has a little bit of it all. The concert area upstairs is intimate and fun, the billiards area and bar area are hopping on the weekends (especially with football in season), and the patio isn't too shabby either. Sometimes, if you catch them on an off night when the crowd is <10 folks, you might get surprised with a free shot or drink. The bartenders and servers are usually great and the crowds are mixed with all different sorts of people. They also offer Fox Brothers BBQ at certain times, so if you're craving good barbeque but can't make it all the way out to Fox Brothers, Smith's has you covered. Just be warned that Smith's is an Alabama and Steelers bar, so when they're playing, expect a boisterous crowd and the place to be full.

Just an average gin mill that does have a nice show every now and then. No non alcoholic beer so if you're not a boozer you are out of luck.

Saw The Van Lears, and Will Kimbroug in the upstairs venue, then enjoyed some brews with friends in the downstairs bar. The Smitty's Cheese Burger was excellent - served hot and seasoned well. The Beer Cheese appetizer was great as well. Good atmosphere and great bands - will def be back.

OK, so they serve food here...but the place is really more about music and a great time. We actually visited in the afternoon-had a great time chatting with the staff and heard about all of the fantastic bands that have played here. Can't wait to visit again!

We went on a Friday night specifically to see the band 'fraigle'. There was a $5 cover which was reasonably priced. The stage was low so we were up close and personal with the band. There was not a dance floor. That would have been fun. I don't usually drink but had a rum punch. Cost was $7.50. Not sure if that is reasonable or not. I was glad to see that no one was smoking! Nice evening out with my husband. Not sure if I am recommending the bar or the band !

I LOVE THIS BAR AND HAVE SINCE 1997!!! LONG LIVE SMITH'S OLDE BAR!!! My gang and I come to Smith's often, to get together, and would be lost without our, "Go To, Comfort Zone", neighborhood joint!

The bands that played was great.. they did an amazing job. The food took an hour and a half and still sucked. The lady named jada didn’t care that we had to go up to see there band. Messed up the check multiple times then wanted me to pay before even bringing the food. I ordered a beer and it never showed up. When I asked where my beer was 30 min later she said oh we are out. If it wasn’t for the band I would have left. Someone who runs this place needs to fire her quick. You are losing business and causing customers to not want to come back. I could buy this bar, and don’t care about paying for food even though it took so long, but dang at least say your sorry for how long it took.

If you want a variety of musical talent new to the scene, this neighborhood bar is a staple with modest cover fees. Traditional bar food and pouring.

One of Atlanta's iconic staple bars. Live music, pool tables, games and food make for one of Atlanta's coolest spots to go have an adult beverage.

We saw The Stacktone Slims at this bar and it had a fun atmosphere! Great band! The building is really old and has a lot of character. Parking is very limited so we parked across the street in the shopping center. Be careful where you park so you don't get the boot!

We recently went to S.O.B. for a concert, and had a fantastic time. This is an intimate venue at which you can see some great performers. There was not much seating provided for this concert, but if you sat, you didn't see much anyways. positives: - great view of the stage from anywhere -huge bar and secondary cash beer window -admission process was fast - staff were very nice negatives: -upstairs bathrooms not very big - got kind of warm - bartenders seemed to charge different prices during the night - line for admission snaked through bar, restaurant, and pool room before doors opened Despite the negatives, we will definitely go to another show at this venue to see a performer we like, and you should too!

Love this place! Small room downstairs for smaller new acts and upstairs is the main floor. Cover is usually totally affordable and good drinks at fair prices. Great place to see awesome regional talent! Fabulous place to spend an evening and if you wanna eat... Grab something at the restaurant and you can take it upstairs with you :)

If you're going for the beer and music in the upstairs room.......great. If you're going to eat.......skip it! Poor service, dirty, slow kitchen. Save yourself some aggravation and eat before you go to any show!

I would never go there for breakfast lunch or dinner. Atmosphere and decor very lacking. But I go every year for the party when the ReBirth Bass Band from New Orleans makes its yearly visit. Standing room only, very few seats but who can sit when ReBirth plays

Went to Smith's Olde Bar for a light dinner last weekend. While I do really like the establishment from a bar and entertainment perspective, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Eating area was so dark, you could barely see......which may actually have been a good thing. We had a few appetizers (fried mushrooms were decent, but onion rings were weak). I thought I was making a safe bet by ordering a burger.....bad call. It was so overcooked (despite ordering it medium) and was tasteless. The others in the group were not as displeased with their food (chicken fingers, wings), but certainly agreed that the entire meal was nothing special....at all. Service was fair at best. Would go back for a drink or two, but will make sure I have had plenty to eat before entering!

Another ScoutMob option. Slow service and definitely an old bar feeling. Our food was good so that made up for the service.

Went here for a Steelers game in Jan 2016. Great bar, great people, and a GREAT place to watch my hometown team. Didn't get any food, but it looked pretty solid. Even without the game that was on, it looks like it would be a solid place to hang out with multiple rooms, one for live music and a few other to just hang out.

An Atlanta institution recently saved from the wrecking ball!! Invited to play for the 500 Songs for Kids Charity event. Wonderful sounding room. Bar staff very friendly and helpful!

We went to see some tribute bands at Smith's olde bar. We paid for the VIP tables in the room upstairs where the venue was. The tables were great and close to the stage, the only complaint would be they were a little tight. The music was great, the food was even better. My husband and I had a burger, and now I want to go back just for that, it was so good. Downstairs seems to be more like a regular bar, with food, pool tables, and of course bars. The only issue I really had with the place overall was one of the bartenders. Not sure of her name but when my friend asked about darts for the dart boards, her reply was "we don't have any f***ing darts, you heard me" this was one bartender and overall my experience was good enough I'd go back. However if a manager reads this, I believe you should speak with your bartenders on the rudeness of cursing at customers. At the end of the day customer service is part of their job, and most people dislike being talked down to. I would definitely still recommend the bar to others, but if upon the next visit the bar staff speaks to us in such a way, I will take my business elsewhere and encourage others to do so also.

Best venue in atl! Good bar food. I even saw Turtle Folk play there! What an awesome band and place!

We went for a concert. Venue was upstairs. You have to order food from downstairs to go and then take it up to the concert venue. You can't eat it at the bar and there are no tables to sit at or chairs to sit on. So basically you have to sit on the floor and eat before the crowd builds up or concert starts. Very crowded. Highly recommend that you spend the money and get a table. I got the boneless wings and the half tater tot / half crinkle fries dishes. Boneless wings were great. Lightly breaded and sauced. They were the best boneless wings I have had.

Eclectic and diverse patrons. Decent drink menu. Appropriately divey but my experience on a busy night was slow, unresponsive, overwhelmed wait staff.

I really enjoyed the friendly crowds at this establishment. People from all walks of life gathered together and it has that "cheers" feel where groups just come together and enjoy each other. Concert venue upstairs had a sold out show that sounded like it was awesome. Enjoyed convos on the porch and playing pool with strangers that became friends. A much needed night.

Beer, food, poker and pool!

I went there for the music. That's it. Not the food(although i hear it's good) nor the atmosphere( totally funky stairwell), it was the awesome bands they have playing there that night.

I went to see Beth Hart on Tuesday May 7 2013 and i had always heard good things about this very old, local venue. I arrived at 7:15 for the 8:00 concert. They had us all wind around inside the dining area around patrons trying to eat dinner. I guess i should be glad that we did not have to stand in a long line outside down the sidewalk. The parking is in a large old shopping center parking lot accross the street. You immediately smell that old "alcohol Bar Smell " no smoking though, thank goodness ! The downstairs bathrooms were already in bad shape when i arrived, lots of urine smelling liquid filled the stall floors and loose pieces of tissue soaked it up ! Gross ! When they let us upstairs to where the concert was held i again went to their restroom and it was already gross too. Your shoes would stick to the floor and make a icky sound as you stepped. Other women were also shocked at how nasty the stalls were. It made me wonder , that if the bathrooms were like this, what must the kitchen look like ?? Oh and the smell was just awful too. All the staff was very nice and courteous. With a little effort on management's part this would have been a much better experience. Beth Hart was awesome after all.

by far the best place in Atlanta for music... local, regional and national favorites... Smith's is the standard for awesome entertainment

This is a fantastic bar to hang out in for a night out, they've got lots of good beers on tap, pool tables, jukebox and a great staff. It also draws a pretty fun, diverse and laid back crowd on most nights, it's always a fun spot to hang out with friends and drinks. The upstairs they have a stage and a lot of great bands come thru there, as a venue it has good sound and the stage is low to the ground giving the crowd an intimate connection with the performers. I highly recommend it as a venue in ATL

This would be a fun place to have some beers and watch a game; good old dive bar atmosphere, and the wings were actually good. But it's so dusty you feel dirty in there. And they were out of mozz sticks because the kitchen staff had eaten them all already for the day - who lets that happen? May give it one more chance...

This is a great casual bar with an attached music stage room. You can always find a good crowd and talented musicians here.

Nice vibe. Decent food. And trivia that isn't IMPOSSIBLE. Mellow Mushroom, I'm talking to you..

SOB was host site for an amazingly talented group of artist headlined by Doc Todd. SOB is everything a classic old bar should be, reminder if college days.

Fine venue to hear a band but don't go for dinner before hand :( We had artichoke dip and a chicken gyro. Don't waste your money and your palate.

I went to listen to one of my favorite bands, Partial Cinema On the way in and out I noticed the food, patrons and menu. Everyone seemed to be really well satisfied with your typical bar food. The bar prices were reasonable, service was quick and friendly.. The place has pool tables, a small venue for the performers and a great reputation. This was my first visit, but I'll certainly be back. The entertainment the night I visited was very diverse, but first rate.

Smiths is a great place if you're looking for a real dive bar. The food is pretty good, but it's the musical performers they have every week that make it a great place to chill. The only down fall is that if you sit in the middle room and not in the main room...the service is sloooooow. We sat there a couple times because we had a 5 people with us. It was quicker just to go to the bar and order drinks.

Spent the evening at Smith's Olde Bar for a nice dinner with friends and some live music outside. When we arrived we quickly figured out that Smith's was the HQ for the Bama fans here in Atlanta for the SEC Championship game. It was standing room only inside, very large with lots of room but full. We sat outside on the porch and had great service and met some really nice people. Burger, Chicken Fingers, Pretzels and Cheese, and beers were excellent. Parking next door, not a problem. Enjoy the holidays.

Can't wait to see this band play again! They are really good! Coming from Tenn to see them play Its in a great location. We had dinner right down the street at Varuni Napoli and walked to Smith's. Friday nights are really crowded. I tend to buy the VIP seats because they are a good price and can enjoy the band. See you Friday!

Standard pub where indie musicians come and perform at from time to time. Bartenders were attentive & great. Had pool tables for people to shoot at while waiting. 2 different floors. Also has a nice outdoor patio. Needs more parking though. Anyway, to the food, came here and had the champ Burger, as it was ATL Burger Week. This burger was one of the best burgers I've had in Atlanta, and was stacked so heavy, I didn't even need a side. Beer was good and flavorful, with many local craft beers on tap. Lots of memorabilia & TVs on the walls. Will come back just for that burger though!

I enjoy going to Smithville bar there like family friendly faces Southside to the bartenders and the owners

We enjoyed seeing Corb Lund in the upstairs music room at Smith's Olde Bar. It's an old place that needs some up-keep done. It's pretty grungy and I think some of the clientele like it that way. The stage is set up great with easy coming and going. The bar upstairs is only partially stocked so you have to go downstairs to get top-shelf anything. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. CHOOSING A VIP TABLE: there are about 7 tables from left to right starting with 1 which is directly to the side of whoever is playing and going to 7 which is in the back corner. We were at table 2 which was a good choice. 3-4 would've been just as good.

I loved the atmosphere of Smith's music room. The sound system was fantastic; one of the very best I've heard at a club anywhere. The staff was terrific; nice beer list. If you enjoy roots music, and you like clubs with character and grit, you'll have a fantastic time at Smith's.

Great bar. Authentic, laid back. Divey feel but really nice crowd and great staff. Very much a neighborhood bar vibe with an emphasis on live music. Good for playing pool as well. Not an expensive bar by Atlanta standards. The food looked pretty good too but we did not eat there.

Went here with a great friend to watch Steelers playoff game one of the most bizarre games of all time that the Steelers won at last second after bring behind against the Bengals. Terrible food it is a grease pit. Terrible service as in a 4 hour game the server only was able to get us 3 rounds of drinks so the business in reality is losing lots of potential business. I would not recommend this place to anyone and the word is it will be knocked down for another new condo building. My opinion the sooner it gets demolished the better. Avoid at all costs. the Doctor hit me with a helpful vote I may have saved you from a case of food poisoning the place is filthy dirty.

my friend and i were in town for a conference. a nice bartender at the hotel recommend this bar. Great choice! Cheap drinks. Awesome food. Great staff. Our bartender Gracie went above and beyond for us. Will definitely go back.

I definitely recommend this bar if you are a Steelers fan in ATL! This bar is soley a Steelers Bar on Sundays. The chicken wings are great and prices for food and drinks are reasonable. It is normally busy so early arrival is recommended.

I guess you have to be a local or have a vip badge to get waited on here. Room full of server's, no one acknowledged us until another couple sat near by. Went across the street, returned later for the show. Decided to sit in the other side and wait on the show to start. One person working this side did what ten people couldn't do on the actual bar side, take care of customers. Giving a 2 because the show was good and they have one good employee.

A really cool dive bar in Atlanta, where you can meet locals. There is lots of pool tables, arcade games, darts, great live music, and food available. Unfortunately the food was the downfall for this place, it was greasy, unimaginative, and out of a packet. I wouldn't eat here again, but would stop by for a drink or some live music.

Came across this bar and was a great find. Service was fun and attentive. Beer was cold, wings were great, music was fun and the atmosphere just made us feel right at home. Perfect for tasty not expensive bar food!!

Went there for the first time this week to support a friend's album release. They have great rotating craft beers on tap. Ok bar food selection. Our double burger was very good. Upstairs and down they had 3 new artists do an hour set each for 3 hours of entertainment for the $12 cover charge. They also have pool tables, foosball and darts. All increasingly fun when your drinking. If your in college, over 21 and single, it seems like a good place to hangout.

Our friend's band plays here all the time and we love going to Smith's! It's a staple in Atlanta and you are bound to catch the latest up and coming talent!
Great concert venue!
Went to see one of my favorite blues artists specifically. The venue is great and cozy - wonderful place for upclose viewing in an intimate setting for fantastic music! Food was so-so, but totally worth the visit.
