Loved the wine and the Italian tapas. Try the baked goat cheese with pesto--wonderful flavor (bring some dental floss if you are on a date!!). Emanuel was our waiter/bartender. Very knowledgeable, friendly and patient as I looked for that perfect glass of wine. Thanks Emanuel for a great evening!!!!!

Ate at this restaurant fall of 2016. We were wandering around Little Italy and decided this restaurant looked good. From the outside, it looked like a romantic little restaurant. Unfortunately, what we got was something different. First, despite the restaurant being virtually empty, they seated us at a small table in the furthest corner away from the street. Second, the restaurant has multiple loud, big-screen televisions displaying soccer in every direction. It felt very much like a sports bar. Very distracting if you're trying to have a quiet conversation over dinner. This was made worse when the game went to half-time and we got to sit through an infomercial about toenail fungus. The service was just horrible. We couldn't really figure who our server was. The man who took our order never came to our table again. We ordered drinks and water from the woman that initially seated us and then we waited and waited for food to arrive. We finally flagged down this same woman to ask about our food order and, miraculously, our food appeared. Salads and entrees at the same time. During the course of the meal, nobody came to clear dishes, nobody offered/brought more drinks/water. After the meal, we finally had to flag down the same woman yet again to get our check. Again, the restaurant was not busy. There seemed to be a plenty of staff on hand, but they generally stood around doing nothing, or watching the soccer game. Very disappointing.

Great dinner at Sogno Di Vino - they had a good special on the Wednesday night we were there - two dinners plus a bottle of wine for $55. I had the filet and my wife had salmon and both were excellent. They have pasta specials on other nights as well. It is on a very nice stretch of India St. in Little Italy - very pleasant to sit on the patio and watch people in a very pleasant area. Prices are not cheap but are reasonable for the quality of food and the plates were pretty good sized. No room for desert after this meal.

Great atmosphere, reasonably quiet, friendly service. Food was good family fare, prices reasonable. Would go again.

If you're seeking authentic Neapolitan cuisine, then this is the place! Our steamed artichoke appetizer was outstanding. The sea bass over linguine was scrumptious. And the seafood over linguini was over the top. One of the best meals we've ever had.

Stopped in for Drinks and Appetizers and was delighted with the choices. The service was excellent and friendly.

The duck salad disappointed us but the fra Diablo was a big portion lobster. Rock lobster albeit, it was big. Could have been more pasta. The duck tasted like liver and was not an appealing texture. The artichoke was tasty but very poorly plated.

instead of going to bencotto down the street. we stopped by this place on a whim just to get a glass of wine and i wish now i would have stayed for dinner. the server behind the bar was great, lived near lake garda in italy and knew much about wines from the area. it is a small place, not a big restaurant but more a deli with a bar area. in my opinion, a place like this usually has far better imported meats and cheese than most so called italian restaurants. will for sure go back next time we are in san diego. they had outdoor seating but i think there was smoking outside.

Stopped by for a glass of wine and an appetizer on a recent trip to San Diego. The state of cleanliness disuaded us from staying for a meal. The males' washroom was "in-a-state", by the fact it looked like it had not been cleaned for hours, i.e. used paper towels cascaded out of the wastebasket across the floor. We sat inside on the couches. We had to ask for the table to be wipped down and had to ask them again to do it properly. The floor/carpet around the table was filthy. Although our vegetable appetizer was OK, they must rely on the clientiele to be seated in the dark. And why did they have a number of TV screens showing sports (though with the sound off). This is not a sports bar.

The food was excellent. Make sure to try the fried calamari and the gnocchi. Great service too and great location.

We were in Little Italy in San Diego and just wanted to quick little snack just tide us over until dinner. So we stopped in to Sogno Di Vino. Food was great and staff was very friendly and helpful. Would like to go back for a meal there on my next visit to San Diego.

good food & wine, bad service,

We hopped off the sight seeing trolley in Little Italy and found this little jewel right at the by the stop. We perused the other restaurants on the street and they all smelled wonderful, but we came back to this one and had a lovely lunch. Sitting at a small sidewalk table, we started with warm Italian bread with marinara sauce to dip . Then grilled octopus, which was the most delicate and tasty that I have ever had. From there grilled salmon for me and a beautiful black noodle and seafood dish for my daughter. The noodles made in house, delicious! The salmon was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. The young man who served and the lovely young woman who hosted were courteous and professional. If you want Italian, it's a good choice.

I’ve passed by this place a million times in the almost two years I’ve lived here but had never gone in and after this dinner, Sogno DiVino is now at the top of my list of favorite restaurants on India Street. I’m so happy I finally got to try this hidden gem! The inside décor kind of felt like you were inside a cave, it was pretty cool. The place was packed on a Wednesday and we didn’t make reservations so we sat on the two couches by the front window which was totally fine, it kind of felt like I was just hanging out in my living room with some friends enjoying a giant feast. Next time however I would definitely make reservations ahead of time! We ordered a ton of food and everything was so good! On their website and on Yelp it was a little misleading because the menu looked really small but what we found out when we got there, Buon Appetito and Sogno Divino which are right next to each other are owned by the same people so in addition to Sogno’s menu we also were able to order off of Buon Appetito’s menu as well. They had some pretty good daily specials to choose from as well. So many options, it was a little overwhelming but at the same time options are always good! We ordered a bottle of Zocker Gruner Veltliner that our waiter recommended which was very smooth and tasty. Also I love restaurants that give you bread and they do that here. For the food we ordered I got the Stuffed Avocado Salad, it was a salad with an entire avocado that was cut in half and stuffed with smoked turkey and feta cheese with mixed greens and artichokes around it. I could seriously eat that every day for the rest of my life! I’m sort of an avocado addict though. I also got the Meatball Panini which was a special that day, basically a toasted meatball sub with a side of really good pasta salad. Everything was delicious! We also ordered the meat and cheese plate, calamari, burrata. The only thing that was just ok was the gnocchi dish but everything else I thought was exceptional!

A colleague and I had a business lunch before heading to the airport. It was a gorgeous San Diego day so we sat outside on their India Street patio taking in the sun. He had a Quattro Fromaggi, which he said was (and indeed appeared to be) quite tasty. I ordered the meat and cheese plate, which had ample (but not too much) servings of both protein and dairy, along with a proportional amount of bread, nuts, dried fruits, olives and other accompaniments. We washed it down with a local Chardonnay, quite reasonably priced and quite delicious, along with a San Pelligrino. Excellent, quick service, nice food, well done! I'll be back.

My wife and I stopped off here mid-afternoon for a glass of wine and some cheese- I wish we hadn’t bothered! When will waiters get it - it is unacceptable to serve paying customers without speaking or smiling, and generally treating them as if you wish they hadn’t interrupted your afternoon!

wondering around Little Italy, came across this wonderful place, with a impressive wine list. Then came dinner. Every item was just perfect. From appetizers, through main course to desert. all were great, and so was the service.

great wine list!

This cute little Italian spot in Little Italy was just what we needed to satisfy our ravioli cravings. We hadn’t tried this restaurant before, so we decided to give it a shot. Marcelo was our waiter, and he was fantastic—very friendly and attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. My fiancé ordered the cheese and spinach ravioli, and I had the ravioli di zucca (butternut squash in sage butter). Both dishes were good, though not the best ravioli we’ve ever had. The interior of the restaurant is super charming, designed to replicate an Italian grotto, which added to the experience. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the area!

Stopped in with the family. Not extremely busy. After 45 minutes to have 3 orders of pasta delivered to the table, I told the hostess we were leaving. Other tables seated after us received their food and were finished before we even got our food. They comped the meal and boxed it, but I would have preferred to have enjoyed the meal as a family at the restaurant.

I was really happy with both the service and the meal. The staff were welcoming. I ordered two Appetisers - Fried Calamari and Zucchini and a salad with greens, pears and cheese. The calamari and zucchini came with a tomato sauce - to be honest I preferred it with just lemon and pepper. The salad complemented the calamari and zucchini well. The serving sizes were generous - too much for me to eat. I finished the meal with coffee. All-in-all an enjoyable evening, felt welcomed and comfortable and the food was delicious.

Excellent Italian food, very attentive and hard working staff. Highly recommended! Was there on a short trip from Baltimore, famous for its own Italian restaurants, and our dinner was as good as any Italian meal we have had anywhere. The staff was working at a furious pace but stayed friendly and highly accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed an entree of Pollo Reginella, grilled chicken under roasted eggplant and house made Marinella, served with roasted broccoli and baby carrot, followed by a desert of house made Tiramisu. All Quora! Buon Cabo!

Four business colleagues and myself decided to dine at Sogno Di Vino on Monday night without making reservations. Luckily, we got the last open table available because it was quite crowded. I won't go into what everyone else ordered, although everyone seemed happy with their choices. On the other hand, I ordered the minestrone soup and the veal picccata. The soup didn't have much taste and was rather watery. The veal was very good, as was the sauce. The veggies were also good. I have to say the service was excellent. Other than that, I will try some of the other Italian restaurant before I'd consider returning to Sogno Di Vino.

It took almost 40 minutes to serve our food. More importantly, our waiter didn't attend to us not even once during the 40 minutes we were waiting for our food! The food however was great.

not sure if I spelled picatta right but the veal picatta was one of the best we've had (or was it scallopini with the lemon and capers?) anyway, it was delicious - the burrata appetizer was just average

We sat at this section of what is a multi-option little empire (market, wine bar, restaurant all along the main drag of Little Italy). You can get the same extensive food menu in both the wine bar and restaurant areas. Nice big patio area, with heaters. Friendly service. Good food in large portions. Reasonable prices.

We were visiting with my niece and her husband, and decided that we should step out for Italian food since we are staying just two blocks away from San Diego's Little Italy. We decided upon Sogno di Vino on India Street, although we had not researched it we could tell from the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen that it was going to be good. We started the meal with a bottle of Petrolo Vigna Bòggina Sangiovese, a mellow red. My wife and I had Cioppino; it contained shrimp, fish, mussels, clams and octopus. The broth was very, very good and the Sangiovese complimented the Cioppino perfectly. Some italian bread was served with a tasty red sauce with just a hint of spiciness. We did not have dessert, as it was getting late and everyone had early morning tasks to undertake. But the plates of House Made Tiramisu that kept going by our table were extremely tempting ! You will not have much luck parking on India Street in the evening, but there is a big public lot on the corner of Pacific & Hawthorne which is only 3 blocks away. The service staff were excellent, prompt and friendly.

Went for hapoy hour, sat outside on the little patio, then went back for dinner. We shared a libster pasta with asparagus....delicious. Then for dessert had the chocolate tartifo and chocolate mouse cake......very decadent. Best food we have had on our visit to this wonderful city.

Very friendly service from the beginning till the end. The selection is for all tastes Good enough for Italian style. The meals camed very quick and was tasteful and a quite good portion. Freshly made and hot. I would recommend to book early because it is very good occupied.

I have been here twice and both times it was great - Good wine list, great small plates menu. The Olive tray is varied and just enough to share with another diner. The Panini, good as well. Atmosphere is low key.

After 2 weeks travelling route 66 eating mainly steaks and burgers I felt like something a bit more sophisticated. I chose fusili with rabbit and Mediterranean spices - absolutely delicious! Lovely fresh-made bread too. It's good to go hungry beforehand - that way you'll have an appetite to do the food justice.I would definitely recommend this restaurant - best Italian cuisine I can remember having in years.

We just wanted to stop for a glass of wine in the early evening when we came upon this trattoria. 'Of course we could have just a drink - it's happy hour' our greeter said. So we ordered our drinks and then glanced at the appetizers and chose a cheese plate, also at happy our price and it was large and delicious and it was more than enough for 4 people. A nice find.

Risk your $100 at your peril! Busy and not attentive coupled with very AVERAGE food!!! Shame on them.

My husband and I had wine and ordered a cheese and fruit plate. I had three glasses of Macchia Primitivo and he had three ounces of three different wines. Total without the tip was 81.89. I think for the next time we return we will pay the 15 dollar cork fee and order an appetizer. A bit pricey for what we consumed. The restaurant is in the heart of Little Italy so that would explain the expense. A night place to hang out and relax.

Great service, great food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Just a great and relaxing experience. Located in the Gaslight section, with many places to choose from, but I think this place rates a visit.

We were hoping to tour Little Italy on a food tour however at the last minute it was cancelled. We switched up our plans and decided to make reservations at Buon Appetitio. We were early for our dinner reservations so decided to check out Sogno Di Vino (they are sister restaurants). We were told it was happy hour (no twisting our arms) and we pulled up two stools at the bar. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and an order of bruschetta. The bruschetta was so good we would have ordered an other if it were not for our dinner reservations. A very comfortable atmosphere to wind down pre-dinner. The bar tender was friendly but not overly chatty. However when we had questions on the wine list the restaurant's owner/manager was happy to explain to us and we had a nice conversation with him. We enjoyed the atmosphere and after taking a stroll around the neighborhood we decided to come back for a couple of glasses of wine to end the day.

Wanted to try something different since we always go to the tried and true Filipo's. I'm so glad we did. Delicious eggplant appetizer and wonderful pasta dishes, especially the mixed green pesto pasta. Friendly service, nice atmosphere too. I will definitely return!

So, we couldn’t get in next door. We didn’t know anything about this place. It’s not as flashy, it’s unassuming, it doesn’t seem to have the draw as its next-door-neighbor, Buon Appetito. But don’t let that fool you! They’re connected! While Buon Appetito is “regular” restaurant, Songo Di Vino is a wine tasting & taproom with appetizer specials that has the SAME kitchen and SAME menu for lunch & dinner! They’re quieter and softer around the edges. We were pulled from our hectic and unorganized line while waiting next door at Buon Appetito and asked if we’d like dinner at Songo Di Vino, and when they told us it was the same menu & same kitchen (which we’d previously checked out), we jumped! And boy, were we happy! We started with wine suggestions and they were perfect for us. The bread was warm and fresh marinara zesty. My husband ordered the lasagna and it was huge- filled with fresh veggies as well as meat & cheeses. I ordered “small” plates of Caesar salad and meatballs. We both had food to bring home. Considering that we’re here for convention, it’s kind of nice to have those leftovers to look forward to! Highly recommend, and we may be able to go back this week!

Sat at the bar and was very well received. Ordered a bottle of wine and watched the game very very good place and quiet. Order the Osso Buco milanaise if you get a chance this is the Veal with none in. And also get a bottle of the montepulciano 40$ very much worth the value. You will not be disappointed.

Good eats specially the goat cheese and pate platter. Nero d' Avola wine very good. Ver good service ...you will enjoy the singing bartender

Ok, I admit it; noise is bad--this place was just shy of painfully noisy. However, the food soothed me and suited my palate. I went with colleagues & enjoyed a bottle of Prosecco to start (needed to a bit more chilled). Vitello Tonnato (thinly sliced veal roasted med-rare topped with tuna-caper mousse) was magnificent! Entree of sliced sautéed duck breast on warm spinach, goat cheese & pin nuts salad was superb. Finale of luscious Tartufo (limoncello based) topped a great experience.

I had a tasting flight of wines and a fantastic Italian anti-pasti dish as my dinner. The cheese and meats were great. The wines were delightful. The service was very good. A great experience sitting outside drinking and eating.

Decent food, very good service, sat at a sidewalk table so enjoyed the perfect evening weather and the crowd walking by.

I've eaten at this lovely restaurant on my past two visits to San Diego and both times were great. Got great seating on the patio which is excellent for people watching and being in the heart of "the action". And the food and wine selections are great. Highly recommended!

Quick service, we didn’t have a booking on a busy Sunday night (eve of Labour Day) and was seated quickly. Meals reasonably priced, SUPER tasty. Would happily eat here again. Found atmosphere inside quite loud though, hard to have or hear any conversation.

Before going to the weekly little Italy farmer's market my husband and I decided to have lunch. Sogno di Vino was on the way to the farmer's market so we got a patio table for lunch. I had the pinot grigio which was smooth, and crisp. My husband had the soup special and the grilled octopus and I had the fish carpachio and arugula salad with beef carpaccio. Both were terrific. I tasted my husband's octopus and it was perhaps one of the best prepared octopus that I have ever eaten. The service was attentive and prompt and the meal inexpensive and fun. Upon our return to San Diego we will be sure to come back to Sogno di Vino. Great restaurant.

Nice to sit at the bar and enjoy the very affordable happy hour wine and food - top quality, and fun staff, if a little difficult to get their attention sometimes.

Even though it was outdoor street seating the area was made as nice as possible. Service was attentive and the food was well done. Be prepared for minimal street parking available.

Great little place with wonderful food. I had the seafood lingini and it had so much seafood I didn’t eat the pasta. Others at my table had the spinach ravioli and reported it was very good. The antipasto plate of cheeses, sausages and olives was very good as was the fried calamari. This is a well-located restaurant on India Street with friendly, yet professional service.

Went here for a glass of wine and appetizers. I would go back. You can just relax and watch people. We enjoyed the food and great service.

Hopped off the old town trolley tour and walked straight into this quaint little place with some outdoor seating and laid back bar.... very reminiscent of a place you find on the narrow streets of Florence

While in San Diego on business we took the Trolly to Little Italy. Someone suggested Sogno Di Vino so we went. We arrived during Happy Hour so everything on the menu was 1/2 price between 3pm and 5pm. The food was out of this world! The restaurant is small inside but don't let that stop you! The service was amazing. Our waitress was very attentive. We met the chef who is from Rome, Italy. He cooked our meals fast and they were delicious. There was group of 7 of us and with everything being 1/2 price at Happy Hour, we tried nearly everything on the menu. We tried the cheese plate, the meat and cheese plate, the baked goat cheese plate, the crostini and olive plate, the eggplant timballo, the grilled veggie plate, the stuffed avocado and more. If you like Italian food, you will not be disappointed here. It is great for a group of people or an intimate dinner for two.

Great atmosphere and I really enjoyed the food! Very pricy, though, be very careful to not believe their “specials” mean “lower price.” That is NOT the case. Their “specials” mean “highlight” what they choose to spotlight that night. I ordered their “special” wine and paid more for it than a comparable wine on their wine list for far about 50% less. That’s on me, but just beware. The wine was paired well with the entree that I ordered. It was a nice evening out with friends, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere.

I was here solo for lunch. The place was nearly empty, but the pasta, Borsellini di vitello e funghi was absolutely spectacular. I'm not sure who their chef is but they've got it down. Comfortable environs in Little Italy

Perfect menu with different kind of pastas a great surch of wines from many countries and also good beers on tap. I ate spaghetti with shrimps and other seafood and was very very good, made remembering me when I was in Italy.

We were waiting for sometime for our son to join us. Great light salads-- fresh heirloom tomatoes and olives, and a tuna salad, and enjoyed our food-- no rush from anyone at tbe place to turn the table over. He joined us late and got attentive service too. Really good dressing and food.

We really felt that we were in a Tuscan cafe. Mario our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable on the wine list and menu. The calamari was cooked to perfection as was the capellini and gnocchi! When a large group of folks came in for a business dinner, Mario moved us to the grotto like bar for complimentary dessert and cappuccino! We will definitely be back !!

This is a rather belated Thank You for being so kind, considerate and helpful when my partner needed first aid after hitting her leg out in the street, and then fainted in your restaurant. You were kind enough to dial 911 and assist whilst the ambulance arrived. Thanks again from the Aussie tourists!

I was just there on a weekday for lunch with one of my girlfriends. I told our server we were on our lunch hour so our time was limited. After a long 15 minutes of being seated, we were finally served a delicious complimentary bread with a tasty marinara sauce. This is the only reason I’m giving them a 2-star review and not a one-star. Even though service started slow, we thought things would improve as it was getting late. Well...that was to be the only good part of our meal. I had ordered an appetizer: carpaccio (tomato, cheese and basil). It also arrived late. The tomato slices were thick, not nice and thin as is customary. The tomato was insipid and tasteless! Like eating cardboard. I couldn't eat it. I had also ordered a tricolore salad for my main meal. Service was so slow that by the time my entree arrived, our lunch hour was up and we had to take it to go. We were still hungry. Awful service and food with no taste. Oh, and forget about finding a parking place! Needless to say, I won't be returning to this place. So many better choices in Little Italy!

We had a nice dinner here. The ambiance is very cozy and a little loud when it is full. But that's how Italian restaurants are.... It is situated in a very nice neighborhood with a lot of charm people walking happy love it !!! Their food is really delicious. I had a great risotto and their service is excellent !!! Very recommendable !!!

The food is good ont exellent but good,we had a burrata and a calamari like appetizer and my son spaghetti allo scoglio, my wife filetto al pepe verde and a branzino I try all plate and was well prepered, only think I AM DISAPPOINT is the service.

On our first night in San Diego we walked from our hotel to Little Italy and decided to try this restaurant on impulse. Our meals were delicious and we enjoyed a wonderful, attentive waiter. My husband enjoyed a delicious and huge portion of seafood pasta. I enjoyed a smaller meal of calamari (an appetizer that was ample enough for a meal) and we shared a Caesar salad. We relaxed in the pretty interior and enjoyed a non-rushed enjoyable meal.

Baked goat chesse, squid ink pasta, Scarpetta Barbera....just to name a few of the items that were outstanding! You just have to go - the flavors, the ambience, the smells, it was truly an experience! Great day or night, definitely an excellent couple spot! Ciao!

We were greeted and directed to sit on the couch, which was very comfortable. Other than that it was less than average. The man serving us brought us a bottle to share and then he never once checked back with us or filled up our glass. Finally, when we were finished we had to wait for him to come back just to ask for the check, once we accomplished that he stopped to chat with one of the waitresses for about 10 minutes. At this point I was over the whole place.

Saw the special while strolling in the afternoon ... 2 Pasta Dinners and bottle of Wine. So, we came ... opted to sit outside ... beautiful Evening ... People passing by ... some with their dogs .. .. enjoying the Evening.... it was a little cool ... but they had outdoor heater. Then came the warm, crispy bread ... with the Delicious Marinara sauce ... oh delicious .. we asked 2x or 3x for this sauce. My Hubby ordered Linguine Boscomare with shrimp, scallops, asparagus in brandy pink sauce. He really enjoyed it ... to the last drop. Mine ... Oreccheitte alla Barese .. ear shaped pasta tossed with broccoli rabe, Italian sausage and fresh tomatoes ... a little heavy and couldn't finish it .. a little bland .. so I added the fresh Marinara sauce/dip for bread ... The Chianti wine was a great paring ... Nice ambiance ... just enjoyed dining outside.

The Hop on Hop Off Trolley stopped here on a rainy afternoon. We hooped off and into Sogno Di Vino... A glass of wine and a light lunch... The food was delicious... We shared 3 "small" plates...each of which coul have been a full meal... And took some back to our hotel for dinner. The staff was more than helpful...this is clearly a place where the "locals" gather rather than a tourist stop..this is almost always a sign of good food, good service and fair prices.

I was very disappointed with the food! The soup need more salt and was under cooked and the ravioli was over cooked, they just didn't do a good job.

This Italian restaurant had some unusual items on their menu...not what I was expecting of an Italian restaurant but it was quite good. We arrived early - about 5pm and there were several people in the bar who had been there a while and quite noisy so it was hard for us to visit but they finally left around 5:30 and more people came in for dinner by then. Another restaurant that has lovely ambiance but very low lighting so I had to use the flashlight on my iPhone to be able to read the menu but it was a lovely restaurant. The service was also very good!

Visiting from CT, arrived today, noticed this restaurant while walking through Little Italy. Ordered the sea bass over linguine which was delicious! Generous portion, fresh fish and the waitress was happy to alter the recipe when I asked for no capers. The service was great - they even turned on an outdoor space heater in case I was cold. When I ordered my dessert to go, the waitress even asked if I needed a fork - and I did - since I am staying at a hotel nearby. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and return the next time in San Diego. On Tuesdays, they have 2 pasta entrees and a bottle of wine for $35 total. On Wednesdays, they have 2 entrees and a bottle of wine for $55.

While small plates, salads, and pizzas are also on the menu, it was a real dinner we needed and this restaurant has a great deal to choose from. My husband and I both had the veal oso bucco which was served with risotto. Not only was it fabulous, but the portion was so large we both had leftovers for another dinner. A wonderful, friendly waitress made the evening even more special.

Food was very good. Didn’t realize they only serve beer and wine. The service was excellent and food was very good. I had the Farfalle Al Salmone, very good.

this is a really nice wine bar. they have a great wine selection and the ambiance is very nice. Their menu is a little limited, but they have some amazing salads and desserts. The paninis are ok.

Great choice if you enjoy good Italian Food and wine in a casual atmosphere. The house Pinot Grigio was fantastic. Portions are more than generous so go hungry. Prices are very fair.

Went here after searching (and failing) for a place to have a wine-soaked lunch in Old Town. The wine list is ok. The rose on offer looked so blood-red we sent it back and replaced it with a mediocre un-oaked chardonnay, followed by a butter-and-oak-bomb of a chardonnay that my buddy was pleased with. The pate plate was terrible. The salad with tuna was ok. My friend's carpaccio looked machine made and several days old. Will not repeat this place with so much better available in san diego.

During an afternoon stroll, we decided to stop in for a wine flight and a light snack. Our server was nice and the atmosphere was relaxing. We would return again.

We went to little italy and decided to try out this place because of the good reviews. We were not disappointed the meat and cheese plate was more than plenty for two, it was very tasty. Excellent wine selection, Service was very nice.

Stopped here for breakfast after touring the farmers market. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The staff is friendly and the prices are average for the food. My wife had the scrambled eggs with Italian sausage. The sausage was better than most sausages that I have tried. I ordered the smoked salmon crostini and a side of the Italian sausage. Unfortunately the waiter forgot the sausage. The dish was more of a deconstructed crostini. The Bloody Mary was good and came with cocktail onions and a cherry tomato on a cocktail tooth pick.

Very nicely designed and comfortable, this is an excellent place for a casual light dining and awesome wine experience. The wines they carry are carefully selected for taste and designed to please the palate. A very eclectic selection of wines from all points of the globe. The fare has specialty Appetizers, Salads and a great selection of Panini (sandwiches). The staff is very attentive and it won't take too long before you feel you've known them forever. They are proud of what they serve and the presentation is excellent. For dessert, I had the Vanilla-Bean Cream brûlée and found it to be tasty.

This restaurant was our first stop in San Diego and by far was the best meal we tasted during our visit. Service was excellent.

Stopped here for a solo dinner on a business trip and ate at the bar. It is located right in the heart of San Diego's Little Italy. The restaurant is intimate and simply decorated with a light and airy feel. The beautiful food being served to guests at the outside tables drew me in as I wandered by looking for a spot to have an early dinner before a long flight home. The wait staff is attentive but not pesky and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food is wonderful, just like being back in Florence. I started with a yummy glass of Chianti Classico recommended by the bartender, ordered the duck salad as an appetizer then the mixed shellfish special, which they graciously served on sautéed spinach rather than pasta - both were delicious and beautifully served. I finished my meal with a perfect panna cotta with fresh berries -- it doesn't get much better than that. If I were not alone, I would have wanted to be at one of the outside tables to enjoy the beautiful evening and people watching. This is a great spot.

My wife and I have eaten here about here a dozen times since retirement and moving to San Diego's Little Italy 4 years ago. This is one of 4 go-to restaurants for us on the main drag, India Street, but we usually stay away during peak times on the weekend as seating is tight and this restaurant like most in Little Italy can get very loud at capacity. My wife and I split a wonderful dish with fresh sea bass, local mussels and clams on home-made vermicelli--covered with a divine tomato sauce with capers. Our guest had a tortellini dish w lobster covered with a nicely seasoned, light cream sauce and diced asparagus--cut in manner we'd never seen! Both of these dishes were delicious and tasted by all. In looking at reviews of this restaurant, I've noted some similar problems when the reviews are low. So here is information/tips that have helped us. -Be aware that this restaurant and Buon Appetito, next door share: owners, rest rooms, kitchen/chef, and menus--I'm always surprised to see that Buon Appetito seems to get 1/2- or more stars, circles, etc. on 5-pt. leichhardt scale ratings. --Take your time to order: the menu is elaborate, and includes 2-additional pages of routine "Specials" on the first two pages in addition to the 7-8 pages of items catorgized by soups, salads, meat, fish, etc dishes. We tend to order off of these first 2 pages as these routine special dishes are great. -Portions are generous here. We're retired and usually just split a salad and main course as we did this time. They're happy to oblige, this time and usually with an extra serving-sized plate for the entree, always at no extra cost. -Table and chairs are packed tightly, so if it's real busy sit outside or at the bar in order to keep down distracting noise. We opted to sit outside this cool Saturday night and they spontaneously moved one of the their three gas heaters over to make sure we were warm. Last night, as is sometimes the case when eating out with other friends, our guest wore hearing aids, and was quite happy that we hadn't been seated in the indoor dining room -If you need something or have questions, make sure to ask. This is an Italian restaurant! The wait-staff if great, but laid back. We've had to ask on a couple of other occasions for bread, served w a great tomato sauce; last night it came out right away w/o asking!

They have real Italian homemade pasta. Try the Borsettini. It is delicious. Service is very attentive. Small kind of Bistro .

Stopped in for a glass of wine and snack. Lots of wines by the glass, heavy on Italian wine. Cheese and fruit plate was delightful, and is a nice snack for two. Italian wines were good, if a little pricey starting at $9 a glass. The two Tuscan wines I tried were good. Not too much difference between the $10 glass and the $16 glass, but that is a matter of taste. They serve salads and sandwiches as well, most under $15. Service was very good. Tables, bar, and sidewalk seating. Busy place.

Always my first stop for a glass or two of wine after arriving! The wine list is small but great. The staff are knowledgeable and the pours are ample!

My husband and I had the fruit and cheese plate, cioppino, mineral water, and glasses of red wine. Total without the tip was 94.77. Expensive? Yes, but the restaurant is in the heart of Little Italy in San Diego. We ate and drank at the bar, our bartender/waiter was very friendly and made us feel very good about this restaurant. I believe his name was Stefan. He was very nice and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this restaurant for the food and customer service. Will return for sure!!!

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and Nadia was our server. She was well versed in the wine and always close by with answers to our many questions. The wine selection went from Italy to Napa and we all had different wines. Whites from moscato to Sauvignon blanc and reds from Merlot's to Cabernets. All delicious we also had a couple appetizer plates that hit the spot with everything from apples to prosciutto

While visiting our newly transplanted San Diego-an (is that a word?) daughter we went to the Farmer's Market in Little Italy and stopped here for a quick drink and a bite to eat. As everyone before me has said, yes, Sogno Di Vino is truly Italian. From the decorating to the food and wine choices and the staff, you feel like you've taken a trip to the motherland. We had some lovely by-the-glass wines and a small assortment of appetizers and all were quite fine. A very nice stop to relax and recharge. Reasonably priced as well. Charming, charming, charming.

Delicious and well prepared calamari. We went here for extended family dinner and we got excellent service. Black squid ink gnocchi is delicious. Vegetable minestrone soup really good too. Gluten free options available.

Great place great service, a must. Go there. I did and s great experience again. Starts with wine that I chose, but wasn't fond of they replaced the bottle with another higher quality no problem. Next my meal was to be Veal but I ended up with chicken they replaced it and made good on all aspects of the meal. The final result was they are very attentive and the food is great the client I was with had the chipino was excellent. Home made pasta fantastic. So, a definite must when going back to SD.

Wanted to dine in Little Italy our last night in San Diego so we walked the 5 blocks over from our hotel. This area is very vibrant and full of activity. Lots of people out and about and the atmosphere is quite charming. Tons of restaurants with seating outside to enjoy people watching. We picked this restaurant based on reviews we saw on line. Service was spot on, very attentive and fast. We decided to eat outside at one of the tables so we could people watch and eat Alfresco. Dinner started with Bread and Marinara sauce for dipping. The bread was crusty and OK, but the marinara was VERY garlicky - and I love garlic. I still couldn't eat it. It was like eating straight raw garlic. My husband opted to order the meatball appetizer for a main and I ordered the penne pasta Bolognese. Both items were mediocre at best. I was not impressed with either. For being an Italian restaurant in Little Italy, I expected much better. This one appetizer of five small meatballs, and one dish of pasta, with one soda cost us $60 with the customary tip. Prices are high in San Diego everywhere, so it likely is on par with what the cost would be elsewhere, but I personally would try some place different if I ever go back. For what we paid, and the quality of the food, I wouldn't eat here again. Especially with so many other choices around.

We had our romantic moments, and lots of good cheese, ham and wine. Mostly italian menu. Try it!

Amazing food. Huge portions. Fabulous service. Authentic Italian food . The antipasto ate was enough of a meal for two people and then the pasta plates were ginormous. Loved every bite

Dropped in for a quick lunch. First time and what a pleasant surprise. Great service. The waiter recommended the home made vegetable ravioli. I think this is the best ravioli I have ever tasted, even better than the ravioli I had in Venice Italy. Looking forward to returning for a dinner.

We walked up and down India Street in Little Italy and most places had long waiting lines, as you'd expect on a Saturday night. But Sogno Di Vino has a couple open tables. We were hungry after a long day in Balboa Park so we decided to try it. Wow! What a great surprise. They had home made everything cooked from scratch. It's very much the European style of eating. Take time and enjoy yourself... and enjoy the food and excellent wines. Nothing is rushed. This was a close as we've come to Old World dining in a long time. We'll definitely put this on our "must do" list for future visits to San Diego.

While the service can be slow at times, their Sur'prese panino (prosciutto, mozzarella, blueberry jam) is amazing.

This place has lovely wine, GREAT panini, and awesome cheese. Only reason it wasn't rated higher is the service was a little slow ...

Yummy Noshy Bits

Dropped in for snack and they made this great plate up. Very good and service was fast. Recommend stopping in.

Arrived and were looking for a laide back place for lunch. It was very much reminiscent of Italy. Good food and wine and excellent service

We went on a Saturday night when Little Italy is definitely busy, but the service was pretty bad even cutting some slack for the crowds. As with most spots in Little Italy, all the people at the restaurant are Italian. Good wine list. The food is good, try the cioppino or fish of the day. Be ready to talk loud, as though you are at a bar or club.

This place is a wonderful place to "take a load off". The wine list is what you would hope from a wine bar. The service is Very good. We are able to sit for hours and not feel rushed. They have a variety of seating choices, from couches to bar seating. Not a huge place and there is only one bathroom shared by to restaurants so that can get congested. You can sit at the bar and watch the parade of people walking up and down the street which is ALWAYS fun. Haven't tried the food except for the meat and cheese plate which is great for two people.

Wonderful stop before dinner next door at Buon Appetito. They have the same owner. The food is similar. We went for happy hour and we would return

Great food and a great Happy Hour offerings. Came here mid afternoon and luckily they offered Happy Hour prices on a limited menu from 2 pm to 5 pm. Enjoyed the HH Caprese along with a nice glass of Chianti. Saw a couple of tables ordering one of the antipastos, so we ordered the Antipasto alla Contadina. Mario was our waiter with friendly and informative service. Look forward to bringing more family here in September. As with almost all restaurants in Little Italy, they offer indoor and al fresco dining. Be sure to stop in the market next door for your favorite Italian items for home

Super pasta dinner. We weren't that hungry so we ordered a single plate but the waiter brought it on two good sized bowls. Ate at the bar as the restaurant was full. Recommended!

Nice wine bar - good selection, nice grazing menu. Can get very loud inside.

It was so good we ate here 3 time in a one week stay. Buon Appetito is a sister restaurant. Their Veal picatta is wonderful, their Osso Bocco was some of the best I have ever had. The seasonings were perfect. We also loved their fried calamari. Try the Annabella Platinum Cabernet. It is fabulous!!

Sogno Di Vino offers excellent wines and lovely vegetarian options. The atmosphere outside is cozy for a date or dinner with a friend. Inside is low-light and comfy, but the acoustics get a little loud when there is a crowd. Service is excellent: friendly and non-pretentious.

We had high hopes of this restaurant being a great place after reading other TA reviews. So we took public transportation from downtown SD to get here. We were a bit disappointed. We were seated in a hot, dark corner of the room with forgotten service. The place had people in it, but we weren't able to move? It wasn't totally full. Our meal wasn't quite as we expected. Other tables were getting their meals and they placed their order after us. Could have been better.

My mom and I stopped in for something to eat, and we thought the food was great. But the wait staff seemed to forget about us on the patio, so the service was lacking, so we didn't leave a tip (I hate doing that, but we tip based on service). There was a large party inside, and we were the only ones on the patio, had to get up for the bill, no water re-fills, etc. Meanwhile, a few staffers lingered around the bar chatting with regulars, and one (pregnant manager?), who was bringing some customers in, pretty much told us we could wait when we tried to flag her down for the bill after waiting for 20 minutes. We had the baked goats cheese with pesto, carmelized onions and garlic, and the eggplant appetizer, which were great. Maybe it was just a busy night.....

Dropped in her after a long haul flight from Aberdeen, Scotland. Staff were very welcoming and the food was great. Great value and most enjoyable.

This restaurant was a huge surprise, Nadia was a fantastic passionate server I actually thought she was the owner! The food was fantastic almost couldn’t believe there Tuesday special. Portions excellent wine fantastic desert unbelievable highly recommended!

Walked past the place on Sunday evening, found a table outside. The seafood pasta was good & so as the glass of white. The price was very reasonable. Food & drinks arrived promptly

Nice atmosphere, where you can eat a snack or salad, accompanied with a glass of delicious wine. There's plenty of choice by the glass: Italian (nearly all regions present...),Californian, Argentinian,....... Good service. To be recommended.
Informal and friendly atmosphere
We arrived during Happy Hour...2 to 6...very reasonable prices at this time ....wine was a good 6 Oz for 5 bucks....lots of reasonably price snack foods and something more substantial also available at reasonable prices...Beer at $4. Per...thoroughly enjoyed as it was our first night in San Diego and set the tempo just perfectly
