Solunto served possbily the best Italian food I've ever eaten. The pasta dishes were absolutely divine and the wine was delicious. Service was great and we finished lunch off with gelato and sweets from the bakery. 10/10 would recommend.

I ordered a pizza with peppers and ham from the very annoyed Mexican waitress ... I received a pizza with parmesan and salami I kindly asked her to take it back and get what I requested. I got ham and hot pepper wrapped in yna slop... I recommend going there before 9pm because they might be indisposed in serving you and order a margherita which maybe arrives right. not to mention the fact that the wrong pizza arrived first and then a drink. very bad

Nice italian bakery and gelato bar. Lots of seating - there was a bar in the corner. Gelato was good but not spectacular. Baking was great. There were sandwiches as well.

We decided to have dinner here because pizza was on the menu. Wow, this was an incredible choice and we're so glad we chose to eat here.. The service was great, food was amazing. We ended up not ordering pizza, had 4 different pasta dishes and each one was delicious. Puttanesca was probably our favorite. The Caesar salad is really light, great flavor. They don't skimp on the parmesan shavings. We're definitely coming back soon.

Located in " Little italy", inside or outside seating. Food was fresh and appealing and delicious. Prices are reasonable, would highly recommend.

We had spaghetti and meatballs at Solunto tonight. The dish was very good, especially the meatballs. The sauce was also very good but could have been a little more “saucy”. It was as very thick. I loved the dipping sauce that came with the bread. It was spicy but not too spicy, just right. My sis bought some cookies. They were very dry. Maybe that’s how Italians like them but I was afraid I broke a tooth on one. We wondered if they’re meant for dunking like biscotti. The rest of us had gelato, also good.

Wandered in for a late lunch so the restaurant was not busy. Our server was very friendly and helpful with questions about the menu. The other staff were friendly and helpful also. The food was excellent. Make sure you try Spaghetti Polpette. Also there is a bakery and gelato, so save room. This is a go to restaurant in Little Italy.

We were looking for outdoor seating due to Covid concerns, and this place was it! Meals started with a large carafe of water and a basket of excellent bread with marinara sauce for dipping. My companion ordered a sub which came with a generous salad. I had the smoked grape salad, which was fresh and abundant. Sorry we were too full for gelato!

Stupendous service and food! We ordered the prosciutto appetizer and we destroyed the prosciutto before realizing there was buratta on the bottom. Our waiter laughed at us and brought us more prosciutto so we could enjoy the whole experience with the cheese, salad and perfectly paired carmilized grapes and strawberry’s. Everything we ate had deep flavor and the wine pours are quite generous. The service is as authentic as the food. Overall A++++++ service, food and price

Great food and the meal or grinder comes with bread and a salad. Prices were very good along with great service. Will be eating here again.

We ordered a pizza each during happy hour thinking it was going to be quite small. What a surprise we had when they were full size.

Had diner there pasta with pesto and chicken and bruschetta with tomato. Tasted well. Nice terras with heaters. Inside not that fancy

At first the service was not great, but after changing waiters, it became really good. I had a risotto with sea food that was probably the best I had in my hole life. The ingredients are high quality and the flavor is just from another world. Totaly worth the waiting.

Wow!! I recently went to Italy and dined on some of the best food I’ve ever eaten ! As a chef and a foodie I’m a pain in the butt for quality! There is probably 40 restaurants in Little Italy San Diego and for the most part all are pretty good! This place is casual but hands down the most authentic sumptuous meal I’ve had since Florence!! The Bolognese is off the charts and the pizza had a perfectly crunchy crust!! Staff was friendly and Prosecco cold! A must for Italian foodies!!

Service was slow but it was the night of the tree lighting in Little Italy so very busy. Ordered 3 pizza's. 1 showed up undercooked, 1 was burnt and 1 had the wrong toppings. Two more pizza's later, still couldn't get the toppings correct. We gave up. They had the nerve to charge for all 3 pizzas anyway! We paid just to get the hell out of there. Won't go back. Too many much better places to eat within a block.

We walked here from our hotel and were warmly welcomed. We enjoyed minestrone, spaghetti with meatballs, and veal caccitora. Topped off with pastry, a nice white wine, and even croissants for tomorrow's breakfast. The owner was very much in evidence and service was top notch. Couldn't ask for more.

We had to try a restaurant as we visited little Italy. We chose this restaurant and sat outside. We had the special; ravioli. There were 2 different kinds and I believe one was squash and the other cheese. We also had a limoncello margarita that was cool and refreshing. I highly recommend this place. Everything was fresh and delicious. And before you go, check out their bakery. I bought some macaroons to go. Yum!

It is a restaurant with a great menu, excellent choice, very good service. It is in the heart of Little Italy, very close to the coast.

Could not rave how good our food was. I had the parpadelle noodles with the shrimp. I asked for vodka sauce instead of cream sauce. The noodles tasted so fresh. There were so many good fresh mushrooms and large shrimp. The meal was $17 which was so good for the quality and quantity. We had an awesome salad with delicious delicate baby arugula. All four of us loved our meals. My pistachio gelato for dessert was so very good! Service was a bit slow because they were so very busy but was very professional.

Had dinner here on a Friday evening during my first visit to SanDiego. We sat outside and had a great view of little kids trick or treating. Pappardelli con Ragu Piedmontese was very good. The waiter who was from Italy was friendly. I loved the attached bakery/gelateria.

We stumbled onto this spot in Little Italy on a cold (for SD) and rainy night. Our waiter was a young man from Poland and he was excellent and attentive in every way. The lasagna and penne arriabata were both very good. Great bread and nice wine. Not a fancy place place at all, but still a nice vibe. We actually went back to the bakery part of Solunto for breakfast the next morning. The service from the young women behind the counter was as flat as the table. The pastry I ordered was old and it took forever to get our coffees. Wish we had gotten a full breakfast on the other side, as those looked great.

Great Italian restaurant at Little Italy. We were here while there was live music on the street and just made the food and the atmosphere that much more pleasant and fun. Food portions were very generous and tasted very fresh. Defiantly will recommend.

Stopped in for a capuccino and some lovely Italian cookies. Loved the atmosphere and the Italian-American fellows at the table behind us. Coffee was really good, and the cookies were outstanding.

Great sandwiches but save room for dessert! We had our first meal in Little Italy here. The sandwiches are fresh and tasty and the salad dressing is great-not just the standard vinaigrette. We also got dessert here very day. The gelato is great but the real stars are the cookies and cakes. The chocolate mousse cake was perfectly balanced. We got an assortment of cookies and they were all delicious. Really, just close your eyes and point. Deciding which dessert can be overwhelming.

The services at this restaurant was very good. We ordered a meatball sandwich salad and seafood pasta. Everything tasted good.

My husband and I spend a week in San Diego and returned to this quaint restaurant twice. The manager is superb and greeted us with perfect explanations of the specials and the menu. I had a wonderful salad and Gorgonzola pasta dish on my first mid-afternoon meal and a tomato and eggplant penne pasta dish on my second trip in. They also have a wonderful Gelato selection as well as an extensive bakery area filled with homemade treats and breads. Perfection!

great restaurant in Little Italy fantastic service backed up with a good menu and great food.Desserts to die for and reasonably price

Walking down the street, there were many options. We looked at the menus for several places and this was the one that popped out. I’m glad it did. I believe her name was Daniella, working at the front, she was so very kind and accommodating. Our server and bus boy were also very kind. And the food was to die for. I had the gnocchi with marinara on the side and it was something I’ll be dreaming of for a long time. I highly recommend this place! Good wine choices too!

Nice place for desert! They offer an Espresso Bar, Panetteria Bakery, Cocktail Bar, Pizzeria and my favorite the Gelato Bar. Basically they offer around 13 different flavors of gelato, in three different sizes to choose from, plus Italian sodas. Great Happy Hour and open for lunch and dinner. Indoor or al fresco dinning.

Soooooo slow!!!!! We've been sitting here over an hour a day still no entrees. They perhaps are very under staffed. Asked for butter for the bread 3 times before it was delivered. Sat with empty wine glasses for more than 20 minutes. Falling asleep literally at our table. If you're coming here, don't expect speedy or efficient service. Wouldn't recommend.

In town for a few days, took a walk thru Little Italy, recent perfect outdoor weather for lunch outside street side. We specifically were looking for hot subs. We were greeted immediately and took a spot of our choice under an umbrella. Water and bread were brought in quick fashion and orders placed. Waiter was friendly. Food arrived soon and the subs were perfect, delicious. Lots of sidewalk traffic, musician down the block rocking out, relaxed atmosphere. Perfect experience!

Only found Little Italy on our last night - a much better area than 5th st! Food & drink here were delicious- staff lovely. Too full for dessert but the diners on the table next to us highly recommended them! Would definitely return.

Nice pizza - good value for money. Relaxed setting and friendly waiters. Have a bakery associated but note that they prefer you add whatever you want from there to your bill for the food!

Was recommended this restaurant by a good friend of mine. It was a great place to catch a casual meal and the prices were great. We had lunch with drinks for under $50. We're Italian so we're pretty picky when it comes to eating Italian food. I had the pesto, and it was delicious. The environment is casual but good food, reasonable prices.

Stopped for lunch and we were seated quickly. It filled up fast. The servers were excellent and friendly. The place was spotlessly clean. The food was cooked perfectly. There was a bakery and gelato case as well. What a nice experience!

My review is based on the bakery which I use often. Have not tasted everything they make, but all that I have are superior. I like to get a few of my favorites and head over to the bay just to enjoy the day. I have only heard good things about food there but have no first hand experience. My favorite is the cannoli and they will sell the shell and filling separate to take home and enjoy later.......which i do.

There are numerous Italian restaurants in little Italy, but we challenge anyone to find better food than what you get here. My wife and I tried a very highly rated Italian place the night before we went here, and we're very disappointed, so we decided to try Solunto. From the moment we walked in, we felt as if we had been invited to an Italian family's home for dinner. One of the managers, Michaelangelo, served us and we now have a new best friend. He made excellent recommendations and our spinach salad and shrimp pasta were wonderful, and not expensive. We told him that we would be back in San Diego in a couple of weeks and he said "l hope you will consider this your home". Needless to say, we will be back. So, please check this place out. It was a magical evening for us.

We were looking for a place to eat and this one was as good as any, the friendly recommendations from the man pretending to be a customer sitting by the menu at the front door helped, because he pointed out the happy hour menu. Happy hour prices until 6pm made the pizzas we enjoyed reasonably priced at $8. The pizza was large and tasty, not spectacular but ok. Beers were $5.50. I didn’t like that when paying our bill they want to take your card away with them. I wouldn’t let mine out of my sight, surely they understand that it not a practice to encourage? Why don’t they have credit card machines they can bring to your table?

What an interesting Italian menu. We had an appetizer with crab, provolone cheese, portobello mushroom, and French fries. Sounds crazy but it was delicious. As was everything else we ordered. Service was terrific thanks to Joe, aka Guseppi.

I had actually planned to eat at the restaurant next door, but my husband insisted this was the address I had given him. I was so glad we went in! It's not fancy, but the service was amazing and the food was very good! They had a bakery and gelato bar, but we were too full to try anything even though it all looked fabulous! Next time, I will eat less so I can try one of the amazing looking desserts they have. The prices were reasonable and I would definitely eat here again when back in San Diego.

Had supper on a Monday night at Solunto. It was not too busy, food was good, came fairly fast ( Salad & Artichoke over tomato sauce & mozzarella ). The issue was the server really did not want to be there. I'm not sure if he said 6 words during my time at the table. It's probably not a bad place, would try somewhere else considering there are 30 more restaurants on this street. - First Impression

Walking in Little Italy looking for a place for dinner, we ended up eating here based on Bernard’s recommendation. We’re glad we did as the food and service were excellent. Will definitely visit again when we are back in San Diego.

We always come here a few times when visiting from Scottsdale. The manager and his lovely wife are fantastic. They make you feel so at home. We have never had a bad meal yet. My husband gets the risotto or the spaghetti scoglio and both are fantastic. I love their penne bolognese. They also have great gelato and Italian desserts. Their food is consistently fantastic and the service is great. We would highly recommend this place. We can’t wait to back.

In town visiting on yet another beautiful day, we decided to walk around Little Italy and look for somewhere to have a reasonably priced lunch. Even with expecting to pay more for the location we were sort of shell shocked by the prices we were finding at the various restaurants. Finally we came across Solunto. A quick check of the outside menu told us this place had a nice selection of lunch options as well as reasonable prices. It was a go. We found our outdoor seats at a nice little table, and the waiter was there immediately with bread and sauce all ready for us. I have to say, the waiter was pretty amazing. Anyway we ordered the pizza margherita as well as a nice sandwich to split between the two of us, and the food was amazing. I spent some time in southern Italy years ago, and I must say it was as if we were back again. Very good food. Very good people. Bottom line for me is if you want a place that will give you a taste of the food in the Mezzogiorno along with great service in Little Italy at a reasonable price, this is your place. We will definitely return when back in town.

This is a great place to get both dinner & dessert in Little Italy. I had the Fettucini Gamberi (shrimp pasta) & my husband had Rigatoni e Pollo. Mine was a little heavy/greasy and one note. The Rigatoni was fresher with the veggies. Service was fine. Desserts and staff member behind dessert counter was friendly. Great place to sit outside and people watch in Little Italy.

Late Post Oct 23’ Probably would have never walked in the spot because personally, I do like planning what restaurants to visit prior, mostly reading reviews and checking out their menu but we literally pulled up and walked right in.. I would’ve loved to sit outside but it was a bit breezy for our party so we opt for an indoor table which was perfectly situated in the middle. The breeze helped with the heat, our server was very patient with us since we had someone in our party who couldn’t make up their mind. We finally decided on sharing everything… Margherita Pizza 5/5 came out hot, delish – took some home and made it extra crispy! Calamari 5/5 loved that fried zucchini was mixed in. Lobster Ravioli – 5/5 Didn’t get to try it but everyone that tried it said they loved the mushroom sauce Highly recommend this place!

my sister and I went there 3 times. Great happy hour prices! Very friendly staff and the food is great!

We were there to celebrate an 80 yr. old birthday, and the food was great, the wait staff fun and fast....even singing happy birthday with us. Everyone raved about the pasta dishes, and the white cake layered with whipped creme and strawberries was outstanding. We will all be back!

10 of us went for diner, no dissapointed of hungry people here. They have bakery and gelato bar. We had gelato for the walk back to hotel. Great service. Nice cold beer.

Have been coming here for years with my family!! Highly recommend!! Food is addicting. Staff treats customers like family!! What else can you ask for?

Pizza was great, service was super fast and friendly, cant ask for more.. Will come for desserts later as I am full and do not have space although I heard ice cream is amazing here!

Solunto has an extensive, authentically Italian menu. The salmon dish I ordered was delicious. The service was very good and prompt. The gelato was scrumptious.

Our first visit was amazing. We were a large party and our waiter was personable, helpful, and accommodating to all of us. On the second visit, they were out of the one thing we went there for (lobster raviolis) and the service was just ok. We ended up just having salads (which were amazing) and went elsewhere for the lobster raviolis. The inside inside dining is not fancy, more cafeteria-style decor, but the food is pretty darn good.

Chose this from Google search for dinner near our hotel. In the Little Italy section of town. Really large quantity of Italian choices, as expected. Good reviews and photos of cases of baked goods and gelato cemented the choice. Lots of traditional menu choices including veal parmesan, cioppino, numerous pastas. Picked the bruschetta as appetizer as is always our first choice. The tomatoes weren't very flavorful and the bread was over crisped for our taste so not our favorite. They also brought a basket of bread which was close to a baguette but a bit softer crust. This was served with a small ramekin of what looked like marinara but was actually closer to a puttanesca with a little snap to it. Quite tasty. The bruschetta was served with a small pile of mixed greens plus thinly sliced sweet onion & dressed with the house dressing. This tasted like an Italian dressing but lighter than most with what tasted like possibly a bit of citrus. Outstanding. So good we decided to order a house salad split between two plates. After perusing the many delectable sounding menu items, including a selection of specials, my wife chose her tried and true go to, fettuccine with Bolognese. I selected from the special sheet, the Spaghetti Carbonara, something I tend to try when we see it available. We had ordered the salad after placing our entree orders so it turned out that everything came out as once. OMG! The portions were gigantic! The salad looked like two large dinner salads but I was assured it was one split in half. The app and the salads alone would have made a very worthy dinner. But we also had bountiful bowls of pasta alongside. Wife enjoyed her entrée very much but couldn’t possibly finish it. My Carbonara was perfectly cooked, with a good portion bacon. And plenty of parmesan. It seemed a little low on olive oil but a good stir brought more from the bottom of the bowl. For me, it was lacking quantity of freshly cracked black pepper but our waiter offered it upon request. I loved it. Highly recommended. The flavors of gelato didn't inspire us and after perusing the pastry case we decided to pass. Some looked a bit dry and being kept in a refrigerated case-which we have had bad experiences with before-caused us to pass. If you want some well-made pasta dishes and a wonderful salad in significant quantity, look no further than Solunto.

Excellent food, this is a veritable Italian bakery. Wonderful service, we enjoyed the old world charm. Mille Grazie!

Beautiful outdoor dining! Everything we got was delicious! Kids and husband got the margarita pizza and pepperoni pizza. I got the 4 cheese penne pasta. Mom got the lobster ravioli! They have baked goods and gelato inside. Kids loved the gelato. Loved the vanilla macaroons, cannolis were okay but it was my first, almond roll was also okay (also my first).

Took a family group of 12 to dinner on a recent Saturday night. Service was horrible. And when we did get served waiter was gruff. Staff was scurrying around and clearing unable to keep up. Pizza was soggy and salty, wine list was below average. Very disappointed.

A gem in Little Italy. Food was excellent with attentive service. We enjoyed the pizza and spaghetti scoglio that was full of delicious seafood. There is a bakery with hundreds of options. The restaurant had a number of locals dining. Go enjoy!

The staff is exceptionally warm, friendly, and very helpful. Our server was very patient with members of our party who weren't sure about what they wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and was very attentive without being overbearing. We were offered fresh bread to start, and our server offered us the ability to try our bottle of wine just in case we weren't sure. My husband selected the Veal Ravioli with Eggplant Ragu off of the seasonal menu, while I ordered the Risotto All' Aragosta, both of which were cooked perfectly. We finished off our meal with a cannoli and rainbow cookies. We agreed that we hadn't had Italian this good since we were last in New York City, we will definitely be returning!

Good location in the heart of Little Italy. Five of us split two pizzas and salads. Sauce tasted very fresh and seasoned well. Decent amount of outside seating.

Amazing service and food. Homemade pasta and Italian pastries. Mouth watering appetizers (cheese plate/and calamari platter outstanding). Great vibe and ambiance. Just fun!

So many places to choose from in Little Italy but the Mahi Mahi on the menu sucked us in and did not disappoint. Lovely food. Fresh, authentic and servings are HUGE! The pastry section is to die for not to mention the ice reams. Service was good. Waiter was pleasant. Prices were reasonable. Good choice 😀

Solunto has been a staple for bread in Little Italy for years. The makeover to the space is wonderful. They have more space now and a better service area for customers. The vintage tile wood-fired pizza oven from Naples is stunning! Solunto has provided fresh baked bread to Little Italy restaurants for decades. It is the best! Their desserts are wonderful, as are the pizzas, which come out FAST. It is fun to sit at the pizza oven counter and watch them being made. There is a separate wine bar, too.

Stopped in here for lunch with my wife a few days ago. She wanted to walk around Little Italy and find a place to eat so we had a look around, read some reviews and ended up here. I was quite surprised at how good the food was and how reasonable, and actually cheap the food was. I expected much higher prices being in downtown San Diego. We would definitely return here in the future and try some different dishes as they all sounded great. Also, if you do stop in, save some room for dessert. The bakery is awesome also!

While there are probably many things we could have ordered and enjoyed - my husband and I both ordered terrible pastas. The salads were wonderful. The wine selection was very good and reasonable prices. The cookies were great. Don’t order the lasagna or the butternut squash ravioli. Lasagna had a pool of cheese and grease surrounding the dish. It was served in a bowl with a spoon for a reason. It was like cheese soup topped with bechamel that tasted like cream cheese. I’m a cheese lover and even this was inedible to me. His ravioli came as huge globs with chunks of squash inside and around. It didn’t look like ravioli at all whatsoever. The shape was like large round dumplings with the pasta broken open/ falling apart and didn’t hold up to the slightly undercooked chunks of butternut squash. Definitely order the pizza (based on photos - it looks good) and salads. The pasta itself tasted fresh and homemade, but be careful how you order it. The simpler the better may be less disappointing than our experience. wish we would have taken photos!

We chose this restaurant from the vast selection in Little Italy and we were not disappointed. I ordered the long stemmed artichoke and fresh mozzarella appetizer- it was plated beautifully and plenty for the two of us, absolutely delicious. Following advice from some reviews I ordered fettuccine gamberi with mushrooms and truffle oil, again a wonderful choice. I also had a Bellini with dinner. My husband had veal parmigiana which was so plentiful he could not finish it. Everything is made fresh, so you might wait a few extra minutes but believe me it is worth the slight wait. By the way they also have a pastry and gelato shop you won’t want to miss. Ask for Michaela as your waiter-he is the best!!

Everything was beyond delicious. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lasagna was rich and delicious. The service was great and I’ll be stopping back by to partake in the pastry display case.

We were in the area for our trolley tour and decided to pop in and check this place out for lunch. The menu looked like an authentic Italian place with fair prices. It appears to be a family run business with the wife doing the bakery and husband running the restaurant side, but I could be mistaken. The service was fast and friendly. The food was excellent. We have not had spaghetti this good in some time. We split a plate and it was a generous portion that we could barely finish. It also came with garlic bread and sauce. We were really impressed by the service, and price. However the food was really good and if you are in the mood for such, we recommend you check this place out if in the area. I really cannot say enough about how we were treated and the value for the money.

So, after a delightful lunch with our friend and native San Diegoan at Filippis my husband suggested to go to a bakery for dessert rather than staying at Filippis. (We like to spread the wealth and help other merchants.) We call the number listed for Panetteria. We were told that it was now called "Solunto." We went in and we were told that we could not sit in the restaurant area. We told the hostess it did not matter that we would be more than happy sitting in one of the tables closer to the bakery. No one was coming so my husband grabbed three cloth napkins on small plates from a table located in the "bakery section," next to the bakery counter. A member of the waitstaff came over after being directed by the owner or manager to remove the cloth napkins. I asked him if it was possible to keep them; he said "ok" and walked away. A few minutes later the same person that had told the waiter to remove the napkins came over and removed the napkins. I asked him if it would be possible to keep them since we all prefer such items rather than the tiny paper napkins he was giving us. Well, by now you know where this is headed.. He stated that if we were only staying for dessert he had to remove the cloth napkins. His excuse; "cloth napkins are more expensive and we are trying to stay on budget." As I mentioned, our friend who is a local resident was not very happy and neither were we. The owner or GM's action were not only discourteous and utterly rude but losing potential customers is more important than staying on a "three-napkin" budget. It could have been a wonderful time but this incident soured the entire experience.

After strolling through Little Italy and seeing many Italian restaurants, we decided to stop here just before 4pm on Saturday. After the hostess asked, we were seated at a table on the patio. It actually feels warm to us right now considering the current weather in Reno. She tried to light the patio heater but could not get it to stay lit. She said she would get some help to turn it on. We were brought water and bread with tomato sauce which was very tasty. About 15 minutes later, the bread was gone, no one had come back and my wife was getting chilly. So, I attempted to light the patio heater but it seemed to be out of propane. The hostess saw me trying to light the heater and came over with someone else to check it out. They decided to change the tank. They got it working and we were brought more bread with sauce and our order was taken. They apologized and said they had a big group inside. I went in to use the restroom and could see how busy it was inside. I did not take my phone so I could not take a picture, but the mens room could use a little work. There were paper towels on the floor and the door had a lot of paint worn off both inside and out. Our food arrived and looked incredible - my wife said the gnocchi was the best she had ever tasted and my spaghetti and meatballs were delicious! The temperature, taste and serving size was perfect. They also have a lot of different desserts inside in display cases for purchase. There were some hiccups with the service and the heater. We also felt somewhat unattended due to the busy inside area but the food was incredible and the hostess was helpful. Considering everything we are giving it four stars - the food was a five but everything else was a three.

We only stopped in for some gelato and desserts but I saw what others were eating and watched the staff and was very impressed with this place. Wish we would have had lunch here instead of pizza down the road!

Pizza cooked in a wood oven very close to Italian pizza. But only that! The rest (first and second) to avoid absolutely!

Awesome gelato! They had 10+ interesting flavors. No gluten free pizza though— despite what someone in a google review said..

During our 'West Coast Calamari Tour' Solunto's calamari unseated the decades old champion. It was so good that we went again at the end of our trip. The owner, Mike, is perpetually in the restaurant and overseeing everything. In my opinion, that's what makes any restaurant great. Got a chance to speak with him and he's from the province of Lazio in Italy (think Rome). The menu is reflective of his Italian heritage. I've eaten there 4 or 5 times in the last few months, and I am always impressed. As a big added bonus there is a true Italian bakery in the restaurant so plan on some extra calories!!

Located in the heart of little Italy, Saluto has a modern design and sophistication that blends seamlessly with it’s rustic Italian roots. This little shop is more than just a restaurant, it includes a bakery where they make breads and pastries, the pizzeria and an ice cream counter along with one of the best farm to table restaurants in Little Italy. And just in case you stop by early in the day they have an espresso bar that changes into a cocktail bar in the evening… This is your one stop shop! This is seriously my new favorite spot in Little Italy that I will come back to often.

As if appetizers and wine at two wonderful restaurants and a slice of pear tart at Zucchero wasn’t enough, we ventured into Solunto where I was finally able to use my limited command of Italian and order some cookies to take home for the evening. They were great! Everyone fresh and moist. The amaretti (almond cookies) were flavorful and not overly sweet. The biscotti were everything a twice baked cookie should be. The tri colore were delicate and my daughter’s favorite. The chocolate hazelnut were dense and melted in your mouth. One better than the next and fresh. Treat yourself to a cafe there and some cookies.

Wonderful hearty salad choices. I had prosciutto with mozzarella, caramelized grapes and strawberries on fresh greens. Bread-good. House cab smooth easy drinking and perfect gelato. Reasonably priced.

Ambience inside is not as good as most in Little Italy and if possible choose the front patio. Outdoor seating is nice and they have "fire" heaters for this time of year. A must visit is the dessert counter inside the restaurant and take something home for later. Food is good as most places in this area.

We're local, and this is by far our favorite in LI. Homemade bread, pasta, pizza, gelato, and desserts make it easy to find something great. When we have groups come in from out of town, we go here. When we want an informal lunch, we go here. When we want to hang with locals and tourists at the bar, we go here. When we want great espresso and a gelato, we go here. Etc. Nothing to dislike, and everything to love.

Great gelato. We also had lasagna and a pizza along with an appetizer. Everything was hot and fresh. Just what we were looking for.

We came here for lunch and really enjoyed the food. The pasta dishes I saw other guests eating looked wonderful! I'll have to go back for dinner. I decided to order one of their subs since it was lunch time: the Amalfi with mahi mahi. The salsa rosa dressing they put on the sandwich is delicious. The sub comes with a salad, too. I'm looking forward to going back. They also have gelato and couldn't resist getting some. Solunto is a town in Italy I was told.

Food/setting ok but just received credit card bill and the restaurant overcharged me by $12 (charged me for the suggested tip instead of the amount I wrote on on the bill)..

We had two fantastic meals at Solunto during our recent trip to San Diego. First we went there for breakfast -- my eggs florentine was AMAZING, with lots of delicious mushrooms of various kinds and excellent hollandaise. My kids loved their pancakes, too. They begged to return for dinner, and we had one of the best Italian meals we've had outside of Italy (where we lived for a year -- and we are very picky about Italian food as a result). My pasta with seafood was excellent, the spaghetti with meatballs was fantastic, and all the pasta was perfectly cooked. Best of all, the service was friendly, genuine, and generous. When my coffee was slow to arrive at breakfast, the server insisted on bringing me another one on the house. And our dinner server brought us a dessert on the house and took the time to give us suggestions for where to visit in Sicily. Both servers were Italian, and interacting with them felt like being back in Italy. I can't recommend this place highly enough. I wish we lived in San Diego so we could eat there often!

Fantastic cannoli, cream puffs, and a huge variety of cookies. One of the best bakeries in San Diego. Good for the work place, guests, or as a treat for yourself!

Overall enjoyable meal and dining experience. Went during Happy Hour with my granddaughter is we had a concert to get to. The bread and sauce was very good. Ordered two items from the happy hour menu the Caesar salad and broccoli and sausage rapini. The Caesar salad came as one big romaine lettuce heart. For some reason it was hard and difficult to cut and share. The rapini was very good and flavorful. Lovely colors and textures and enjoyable. Our first choice of a main course, a butternut squash ravioli with amaretto cookies, was not available. Very disappointing as that was the one thing we were both excited to share. Most other dishes seem to have eggplant which I don't like or seafood with my granddaughter won't eat yet. We shared a rotini with shrimp which I ate off the top and my granddaughter enjoyed the pasta. the shrimp, 4, were large and well prepared. We also shared a lemon gelato which was probably the highlight of the dinner. I've never had gelato so fluffy and creamy. Truly outstanding. Wait staff was excellent and attentive and friendly.

We ran across this cafe as we were walking to our car to drive to an ice cream shop in town. We had looked for gelato in the area using trip advisor, and since this isn't just a gelato shop it didn't come up. The shop is near the Little Italy sign. It is a restaurant, bar, bakery, and gelato shop; just like one would expect in Italy. It was 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night and the bakery side of the cafe was in need of a thorough cleaning. There are only a few tables and one had gelato smeared across the top of the table. The floor needed to be mopped. The cafe really needs to have a bus boy to keep the place clean for their customers. The gelato was good. The coconut gelato was a tad too sweet, and tasted artificial. But mixed with chocolate gelato it was good. The chocolate wasn't as rich as we are use to, but it too was good. One has to order a medium sized cup in order to mix two flavors. The prices are competitive and they give you a good sized serving. There were a few customers standing in line. If the cafe had just a few more flavors and they put a gelato sign in the window business would probably be booming like the ice cream store across the street.

Staff was speaking Italian, a man who appeared to be a regular broke out singing opera, and great food! What else could you want? Oh, a full bakery and gelato, of course! We stumbled in for dinner with our boys. We had an earlier reservation at another restaurant in Little Italy, but couldn’t get there in time. We were fortunate to get a table right away at Solunto. Caprese salad was fresh, pastas were good and bakery items were tasty.

I was told this restaurant had excellent gelato and pastries, and the lunch menu looked good so I took a seat and ordered a delicious ravioli dish. The ravioli was filled with butternut squash and amaretto cookie pieces. It had a tomato sauce with vegetables. Very tasty! Will come back when I am in town again!

Wonderful Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Great service and great food. I got the Spaghetti Scoglio and it met all expectations. The Calamari Frito was cooked perfectly. This was not the frozen calamari rings you find in most places. The bruschetta was equally as good with soft Mozzarella and a bread that held up to the toppings. We tried the raspberry chocolate cake which was rich and not overly sweet. The cannoli are highly recommended. Will return

What a great dinner. Fabulous food and service. Was surprised that the salads were inexpensive and delicious the pizza was an expensive six bucks for a margarita but my drink is simple Manhattan was 10 bucks all in all the service was great.

Looking around at what others were ordering, my mouth was watering. But I wasn’t hungry enough for a full on meal. Instead i ordered a charcuterie selection and The Hubs got a caprese dish. Fabulous! Homemade bread and some of the tastiest marinara I’ve tasted started our experience. Totally recommend.

this is one of my favorite restaurants now in Little Italy the service was fun friendly and professional. we ate there for dinner had the pizza my husband had the cioppino blanco both were very tasty . They also sell breads cakes pastries and i recommend all of those too

Ordered two pizzas for lunch and both had soggy crusts. The margherita had mozzarella cheese that had not melted. Other had prosciutto with arugula and shaved Parmesan. Crust was equally soggy.

Was attending a huge fitness conference in San Diego and towards the end of the week, a colleague and I got up early on Saturday looking for a good sit-down breakfast in Little Italy area. We were recommended to a different restaurant and once we got there, it was packed and the setting was more of a diner setting which we didn’t care for. So we kept walking back towards our hotel and found this little gem. The servers were very attentive and the food was excellent! Our server went out of his way to make a special ‘not so spicy’ tomato base sauce for my omelette. The food tasted fresh and the presentation was very nice. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We sat al fresco and it reminded me of one of al frescoes in Italy or Europe. Then there’s the bakery attached to the restaurant with decadent pastries. They have wide varieties of pastry selections that are mouth watering. Hard not to buy something to go. I would definitely recommend this place and I would definitely try them again next time I’m town, è stato tutto fantastico!

On my first night in San Diego, I wandered over to Little Italy for dinner. I selected Solunto at random and had a great dinner. I ordered gnocchi in a cream sauce with truffle oil for dinner. It was delicious, and they gave me a very healthy portion. I also appreciated a reasonable house Cabernet and the bread basket that included red sauce to dip in. In the end, I ate way too much, but couldn’t help it.

Rack of lamb was wonderfully presented and delicious to consume. Paired with wine and tiramisu, my dinner was great!

I enjoyed a cup of cappuccino and a Cannoli type pastry not sure what it was called. I also found another very light and filled pastry. All great.

Went to Solunto on a Saturday evening. It was busy but we were seated right away. The service was fast and attentive and the pasta was really good! Also the bread & tomato sauce as appetizer were great. Definitely recommended!

Food was good here. I especially enjoyed the butternut squash ravioli. Service was okay. It was a busy lunch hour so understandable. Great location for people watching too.

I was surprised this wasn’t better than it was. I had higher expectations of this location and much better food experiences elsewhere. Sadly, our service wasn’t that great so that didn’t help with the overall experience.

Stopped by this place to grab a dessert. When I asked the employee what fruit was in the dessert all she could tell me was that is complicated and she didn’t know what it’s called. Instead I had a lobster tail that was very average and very expensive.

We stumbled into Solunto at lunchtime with a party of 9, 4 adults/5 kids. Friendly service with clean restrooms. Everything was good and reasonably priced. Relatively fast service for the area. Also has a baked goods section and gelato bar. Fully wheelchair accessible. Enjoy.

We enjoyed a quick Breakfast here ordering Fritatta and a Breakfast Croissant sandwich and also coffee and Biscotti.

Restaurant was great and service was good. I had ossobuco and absolutely yummy! We also ordered tiramisu and it was the best I ever had. I will recommend the restaurant for tourist who will visit Little Italy.

Ravioli, puttanesca, spaghetti bolognese were all great. Caesar salad one of the best I’ve had - dressing uniquely delicious. Gelato was good 4/5. If we hadn’t read reviews we would have possibly thought it was a tourist trap - but it wasn’t - will return.

We were in San Diego for a quick stay. We had a group of 6 and finding a good place to eat on a Friday night can be tricky. We landed at the door of Solunto and were greeted warmly by the hostess. There was a bit of wait but it was well worth it. I think one of the best parts of our visit has to be attributed to our waiter Klaudio. He was engaging, funny and truly felt like he wanted our dinner to be the best it could possibly be. Our food was incredibly delicious and the atmosphere was great. I would HIGHLY recommend stopping in for a meal and you will leave a very happy customer.

Delicious pasta in this place. One plate of pasta is enough for two people to share. We had pesto and four cheese. Good option for kids too. Kind service.

Outstanding , Friendly Staff , super welcoming greeter An absolute great time, customer service , food quality and pastry are to kill. Highly recommended

Now this is Italian at it’s best. We stopped in for lunch and due to Covid concerns we were seated at tables placed on the street that are well secured from traffic with umbrella’s for shade. Actually, this made for a better dining experience even though they do usually have some limited outdoor seating. The menu runs the gamut from Salads, Sub Sandwiches to full Dinner Entrees, Desserts, Alcohol Beverages and more. When seated you are served a iced cold bottle of water, some rolls and a great tasting Pesto Dip. Great way to start out. I chose to have the American Meatball Sub that included a small Salad, and a Lemonade drink. My wife opted for the Lasagna along with a Beer. Both selections were awesome. We were both full and couldn’t take advantage of the many desserts such as Ice Cream and many Italian Pastries. Our servers were very professional, polite, and attentive. I highly recommend this location. I hope you find this review helpful in making your next dining plans.

The staff and atmosphere was wonderful. We had lunch and just gawked at the amazing bakery! We didn’t have room for dessert but hope to come back after we tour Little Italy and purchase some to go. Each of us enjoyed our meals! Try it. You’ll like it!

Real authentic Italian food, prepared by real, authentic Italians! We live half a continent away from San Diego, so coming here again might be difficult! But trust me, if we do, we'll be back. Best Marsala sandwich I've ever had. Four of us visited that day and each got something different. No one went away disappointed. Wonderful pasta dishes, perfect salads. OH... and a visit to their little bakery should be mandatory. Awesome pastries, and they also had a gelato bar. But be sure to go before dinner because you won't feel like you can go afterwards. Three of the four of us had to get take-home boxes.

Very good Italian, tried various dishes, Gelato & pastries. Service was ok, except the waiter tries to remember 6 orders without writing them down so its inevitable that he gets the odd thing wrong. Price was very reasonable.

Diane and I wandering San Diego and Little Italy neighborhood for a late lunch. Solunto made itself proud. When Diane’s chicken Marsala arrived her eyes opened about four aperture clicks. For a lunch it was big. She commented that the salad with it was one of the best of our trip. When in doubt I order spaghetti and meat balls. It was served piping hot and delicious. It was paired with a fine Wit and combined not a good lunch, but a great lunch. And guess what, it was a Bakery too. Nice, very nice.

Very delicious Italian food plus desserts to die for. Wonderful gelato and a large selection of pastries. They have a nice outdoor seating area that makes for great people watching. All in all a very pleasant experience.

I wish I didnt have to write this review, but this place if horrible. I came here based on reviews and had high expectations. Ordered two pizzas and both were undercooked almost raw underneath. The dough was still elastic. I asked them to recook one and they put it on a plate in the oven which only cooked the top and still left the bottom raw on an exceedingly hot plate. My wife ordered a seafood pasta and the calamari was also raw. Literally a blob of some other seafood that wasn't cooked. She was grossed out the say the least and we sent both back. The manager or waiter never came to apologize or make it right. I am from NY so I may be a pizza snob- but I don't know anyone who likes raw pizza.

The food was great and the ambiance was fantastic and very romantic. Very authentic Italian food and we recommend this place highly.

The best thing about this restaurant was their marinara sauce, other than that we were bummed. Our pizza was burned our spaghetti was ok. The lady’s bathroom was disgusting 😳The staff was friendly.

We were enjoying a lovely evening wandering through San Diego's Little Italy. What a fun atmosphere, filled with a large waterfront park, shops, and numerous enticing restaurants. We had already eaten dinner, but the Solunto bakery section beckoned us in. There was quite a selection including gelato, canoli's, various cakes, tarts, and even baquettes. All that our group tried were tasty. Solunto Bakery was a great way to finish up our evening in Little Italy. Can't wait to return and try the extensive menu items!

Looking for a laid back, reasonably priced restaurant in Little Italy? Look no further. My husband had the truffle gnocchi dish and kept raving, so I took a taste. Being 100% Italian I thought, “How good could it be?” We’ll, it literally melted in my mouth. It was so light and delicate/ yummy! I had a simple salad with grilled chicken ... I have to say I still don’t know what made it taste so good but it was amazing. After dinner we went to the bakery section and bought some cookies to eat and a beautifully wrapped package of Italian cookies to take as a gift to my cousin. What a lovely dinner and great staff. They even charged my dead phone for me!!

Last weekend we stopped by Solunto and selected about eight cookies from the large pastry display. It is hard to decide which to buy because each cookie and pastry look absolutely delicious. The cookies were perfect to accompany my Sunday morning cup of coffee. On my next visit I plan to try out the fresh baked bread loaves which look perfect for a picnic at Balboa Park.

wonderful place for happy hour and has good food. We had Prosecco and meatballs that were delicious. The staff is very informative about the foods.

Bakery and restaurant together. This is a favorite of local Italians and tourists alike. Great staff and terrific chefs. I enjoyed Osso Bucco and my friends had fish. House wine was really good for a house wine. Fresh Italian cookie for dessert. Also, they make wonderful gelato! Must try!

Ate outside in their patio area which was lovely! Service was pretty good. We loved our food. The house salad dressing is so light and delicious! The pasta was really flavorful with high quality ingredients and the piccante pizza was amazing! Spicy and tastes like you are in Italy! Will definitely come back:)

The best spot in Little Italy. Great food and outside seating. The pizza was just like in Italy! Outdoor seating a bonus in the middle of bustling Little Italy. Would definitely recommend!

Don’t be put off by the cafe like appearance. We visited and so glad we did. The food was fantastic, great service and very reasonably priced. Wouldn’t hesitate to visit again!

I enjoyed carpaccio/Chianti at this Little Italy landmark bakery/restaurant. Packed on a Friday night, I sat at the bar and loved every forkful of the peppery arugula topped treat. Friendly server and hostess.

Stopped in here while walking in Little Italy for a couple of snacks. We had a cannoli and another orange cream filled pastry. Both were really fresh and tasty. I'd come back here for dinner sometime as the restaurant smelled really good and the menu was interesting.

I highly recommend this Bakery and Cafe, we only got dessert here to go but it was fabulous. The next time we visit San Diego and go to Little Italy we will absolutely give this place our business. The dessert I got I do not even know the name of it but it looked like a cupcake dipped in chocolate, it turned out to have a chocolate cake base with raspberry or cherry filling and topped with a lot of whipped cream and then covered in dark chocolate. It was incredible. I highly recommend Solunto.

We were in Little Italy for dinner and walked by here while walking around the area. There were 15-20 gelato selections. The pistachio & amaretto gelato's were both delicious. The slice of peanut butter cheesecake was the best I've ever had. Prices were reasonable.

We took a botched pasta, penne with four cheeses and spaghetti with seafood... frankly we were not thrilled by any of the three dishes, especially we were disappointed with the first with fish sauce because it was evidently frozen! Fast and kind service, all in all honest prices (we are always in San Diego).... but we probably wouldn't go back.

We were looking for seafood pasta and Solento delivered! We were seated in the outside sidewalk patio area which made for great people watching. Service was excellent. Ordered the Risotto Mare and Spaghetti Scoglio. Delicious! We will definitely visit again on our next trip to San Diego

The atmosphere left a little to be desired (the inside is more like a bakery) but we sat outside on a warm night and it was enjoyable. The star was the food, of course. The BF got the lasagna bolognese and I got a seafood dish with scallop and shrimp in a light broth. I thought my dish would come with pasta, but it did not. Fortunately, it wasn't needed, as the serving was plenty by itself! The bolognese was very good, one of the best I've ever had. You could tell it was homemade and had spent a good amount of time simmering. Loved it. Also, the pricing was very reasonable compared to others in the area. Glad we made this choice.

We walked up and down India Street in Littly Italy checking out restaurants for dinner. We ended up at Solunto and were very pleased. The pasta puttinesca was really excellant and the veal parmagian was also really good. Also good - the price was right!

Recently, we visited Solunto Restaurant in Little Italy - San Diego. We liked the Service and the food. I thought I was having a good Restaurant experience .., but decided to use the restroom. One of the servers locked himself inside for 30 mins. The two guys in front of me used the Women’s Room (joking, if Women can use the Men’s..Ha ha). Unfortunately, this server ( tall blonde; thin - wearing a grey shirt - promoting Tequila Patron) ruined a good evening!!! My wife was deeply concerned- and sent others to check on my disappearance. It was so embarrassing! Therefore, I think I will skip this bad experience - as there are many good choices of restaurants in the area.

Big outdoor dining area on sidewalk, great people watching. One of the most popular cafe/ restaurants in Little Italy. Because they have it all, pastries, cakes, gelatos and food. We had tasty cakes, coffee and tea. Great appetizers, fried calamari, Portabella mushroom stuffed with fresh crab and cheese are both delicious! Big portions too. What a great place to eat and hangout!

SO I am only reviewing the bakery side as I did not eat any of the food from the restaurant. I did stop by after dinner for some cannoli's and gelato. First the gelato, it was very good but I'm not sure I would really call it gelato, it was more ice cream than gelato in my opinion. That being said it was still very good and the flavors were great, it just didn't quite have that true gelato texture. The Cannolis however were excellent, probably the best I have had in the states. I generally don't really like cannoli's but my traveling companion really wanted good cannoli's while we were in little italy. Most of the time when I eat a cannoli I usually have a bite or two before I throw it away or give it to my wife, however, this time I ate the entire cannoli and enjoyed it quite a bit. I would say that if you are in little italy and you have a hankering fro something sweet you can't go wrong by giving this place a try.

We were told about another restaurant to try in Little Italy but when we got there it just didn't seem that appealing to us so we walked around and bit and settled on Solunto - it was not settle, that's for sure. This place was great. The service was excellent - thank you Juliana - and the food was amazing. Great atmosphere, great food, great service....what more could you ask for.

Wow. I feel like I was welcomed into an Italian family, sharing their love of home-made pizza, pasta, and pastries. Solunto served me the best pizza of the west coast, pizza that would stand up to any comparison in Italy. Perfectly baked crust on a perfect quattro stagioni. And the home-made pasta is to die for. Come hungry! And don't leave without a cannoli, of course also home-made. The decor is lovely and well thought through, capped by the giant pizza oven, covered with beautiful tile that fits the overall design theme. If you're in the mood for Italian food while in San Diego, look no further. You can't go wrong with Solunto.

We stopped in for lunch and was amazed. The thought out forth in each portion was delightful. We started with warm homemade bread. We had warm sandwiches, a perfect pizza and a fantastic seafood pasta. We ended with a toffee cookie. The server was attentive, recommended tasty menu items. We are so glad we enjoyed lunch

Great restaurant in the heart of little Italy! Very lively and good Italian music was playing. The menu was extensive, hard to decide! Specials also offered. Prices are reasonable and the portions were large. We ordered dessert from the counter. Cannolli was excellent! We left more than full from a delcious meal!

I think this is the best combination of cost/quality in San Diego’s Little Italy. The happy hour menu is a bargain. Pints of Birra Moretti for just $4 is a steal. I’m used to paying $6 for just a 12 ounce bottle of Peroni and Moretti tasted so much better to me. Also, the sautéed octopus appetizer tasted amazing and at just $6.50 during happy hour to say it’s a steal would be a huge understatement. The Spaghetti Scoglio was a seafood bonanza filled with clams, mussels, shrimp and calamari in a light white wine sauce. They could easily charge well over twenty for it, but choose to charge just $18 for such a high quality dish. I could go on and on about the value of this place. As good as the food was, the service was even better. Our waiter must have been a mind reader because he somehow dropped by whenever we needed something. I wish I could remember his name, but I expressed my thanks via a hefty tip.

In San Diego’s little Italy, this is a fine place to enjoy not only a delicious meal but to do so in a fun and friendly environment. The food is top notch, the staff are friendly and funny and the prices are very reasonable! Stop by you won’t be sorry!

We came for dinner and the spinach salad and our pasta were both amazing and the quantity was large enough to split. What made our evening was our bartender, Joseph. Not only did he keep us entertained at the bar but he also bought us a drink! I have never encountered that generosity before in any other restaurant. Will highly recommend this restaurant for the food and the exceptional staff.

I wouldn't have tried this restaurant if it wasn't the owner (I think so) who posed as a "regular customer" singing praises of how good this restaurant is. Yes, the food was good, I like the pasta, and also the crispy calamari. The overall environment is good kind of rowdy. It has an overall homely feels to it. However, it was upon watching how this "regular customer" who goes behind the bar to take wine for himself and others, helped served the tables and also went into the back of the kitchen that I realised he wasn't who he claimed to be. I do not like the idea of being lied to.

We just enjoyed a lovely outdoor dining experience. Lasagna and Chicken with Spinach was fresh and tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and in spite of a chill in the air it was very cozy and comfortable.

We were told to go to the Italian section of San Diego if we wanted a good Italian meal. We found this restaurant to have great Italian food, tasty gelato, and bread.

I’m convinced that if a restaurant can get calamari right everything else will follow suit. This place did it perfectly!! Lightly battered rings. Crisp, tender, melted in my mouth. So light it was sublime. Could not have been better and I’m a total calamari snob. The pesto fettuccini scallops were also excellent, so I’ll be back!!! Thank you for a wonderful meal.

I went in to this place with high expectations because of recommendations from a family member. The location and atmosphere were excellent. The wait person who served us seemed to me to be anxious for us to order. We were in no hurry. He even made not funny jokes (I think he was joking) about adding a fee to our bill for taking too long to order. I ordered a short rib meal with a tomato-based sauce that was almost too sweet to eat. I don't intend to eat there again.

The food here is amazing the quality is top notch from the tomato sauce that comes with the bread and everything else, you can tell they use quality products and have authentic recipes. Very friendly service. Thanks to the man sitting on the terrace for talking to us about it. Better than Bencotto.

Delicious food, good happy hour and a friendly, noisy Italian style restaurant! The dessert counter with pastry and gelato was overwhelming. The final choice, gelato was very good!

We stopped in twice for pastries and once for Gelato. The Nutella Gelato was absolutely delicious. The prices were also quite reasonable. The apricot tart was excellent as well, as were some of the cookies. We would definitely return!

Passed by a couple of times as it was one of the quieter places and looks a bit more ‘cafe’ rather than restaurant, but the menu looked nice so we decided to eat there. What a great choice! We all had pasta and it was all delicious - and a-bit cheaper than mist if the other spots. Plan to head back tomorrow.

A moderately priced American Italian restaurant with varied menu, good service and large portions..presentation of Caesar salad is unique and very good, marinara sauce was perfect with some tangy spices, street side dining but not widely separated tables...so pushing Covid guidelines..meal was excellent..bread choice was bland but served with marinara not oil....you can have a good meal here

Family was on mini-vacation to San Diego. Our hotel was close to Little Italy. We walked to view various restaurant's menus and decided on Solunto. The receptionist was very nice and quite friendly, since we had younger children with us, we knew we had to decide on family friendly atmosphere. The food was excellent. The calamari appetizer was delicious with excellent wine choice. We will return!

We tried Solunto for the first time after a recommendation. The people were charming, the atmosphere great, the food- outstanding. It was delicious and plentiful. It is our new favorite place to eat in San Diego.

We stopped here after lunch for our dessert. Run by Italians from the Naples area of Italy. Fun, delicious bakery and wonderful gelato

My daughter wanted to just have coffee and dessert and I picked Solunto because it had a bakery and gelato too. This restaurant is in India street downtown. Parking is pretty challenging. We had to go around 3 times before we found a spot. I suggest you visit Little Italy at 6 pm or after 8. We had Cesar salad, Solunto pizza, gelato, and coffee. The pizza was cooked right with just enough sauce, prosciutto, cheese, and arugula. It was also wood-fired. Coffee was excellent and the gelato was just as good as the ones in Venice, Florence or Rome. There is a small patio for outside seating as well as a big space inside, Our waiter was very attentive and courteous. He came by often to make sure that we have everything we needed. The bread was soft and the marinara dipping sauce had a rich tomato flavor with enough olive oil...just perfect f.The only drawback is that the restroom needed more attention. Will come and visit this place again

Friendly staff. Great gelato. It was a very nice stop after a long walk in San Diego. I will need to go back to try some of the other items. For gelato though, this is a very good place!

We were checking out the menu when a nice gentleman implored us to give it a try--"I'm from Chicago, I've lived in Little Italy for 23 years, and this place is the best!" We were promptly seated. They have a great Happy Hour until 6, and we enjoyed wine and calamari. Everything looked delicious on the menu, but I ended up having the ravioli all alagosta. It was really good. Having the bakery in house was a delight, and the kids enjoyed gelato, and I a cannoli. Services as fantastic; our water never ran out, and our waiter paid attention to everything. Prices were very reasonable, and portions were plentiful. One of the better meals I've had in a while. Highly recommended.

Loved this modest restaurant. Bakery and gelato options very enticing but entree portions are filling on their own. Servers spoke Italian.

This restaurant looked phenomenal when we walked past it while on vacation last Sunday. We checked their breakfast menu on Monday morning to see if our six year old would have options and headed there shortly thereafter. Upon arrival, we were told they only serve breakfast on the weekend and "everyone around here knows that." Um, your breakfast menu on your website does not so indicate weekend service only. While the server offered us a pastry from the case, we were in need of something more substantial so we went to Harbor Breakfast instead.

I was looking for Italian food, nothing too fancy or pretentious but authentic. I saw they had a bakery in the lobby and for whatever reason it felt really easy to walk into the space. I was seated immediately for dinner. They had an excellent wine list, a chefs special menu, and a large two-sided menu. They brought out fresh bread with a spicy red sauce. I started with athree color salad, and had the lamb ravioli off of the chefs menu. Start to finish service was excellent, the food was fresh, and very authentic. I see they have a Neapolitan style pizza oven, and I saw a few of the pizzas on neighboring tables. If I have the opportunity to go back I would love to try one of the pizzas.

Stopped in here after leaving Seaport Village and so glad we found it, the options we had for desserts for the family was amazing! Fruit tarts, Cannoli’s, Tiramisu, And so much more! It was all delicious, we didn’t even know they served food too until we walked in. That’s something we’ll be coming back on the next trip. The service was super friendly and definitely made us want to come back again and try more.

After the dinner we asked the waiter about the service charge. For most of us, we were eating in an american restaurant for the first time and we didn't know what it was. The waiter named Andrea, got SO angry and without giving any explanations, took the bill to remove the SVC . Then he came back and threw the new bill on the table, being disrespectful. In adition to that, Andrea started pretending that he couldn't hear us, walking from one side to another and talking the other employees, making us wait for 20 minutes until we decided to go after him. While paying, he kept being rude and discourteous. Definitely ruined our night.
Great food
Loved, loved, loved this Italian restaurant! The waiter made excellent recommendations and the portions were large. Nice to be able to get some gelato after your meal ‘to go’ for the walk back to our hotel.
