It was Taco Tuesday so my colleague and I went to Sombreros for Dinner. There was allot of great dishes on the menu. I had a combination plate while my other party had the steak fajita's. Overall the Experience was great. This is a restaurant / Bar but the two are separated service was a little slow, I think our waitress forgot about us... No Worries. Once our order was submitted the food came out rather quickly. It is a bit pricey but well worth the wait. Location is a bit tricky but if you use your GPS or Google you will find the way pretty easy, On a scale of 1 to 10 (I give this an 8) Would I return - Yes

The tacos are $3 each and there are a wide variety from which to chose. We got the carnitas, which were very good, and the plantain, which was “off the chain!” On Tuesdays they also have $3 margaritas, which are also very tasty. Service was friendly. Patio was pleasant.

Great Mexican food. Cheap, nice service. What’s not to like. Great salsa, $3 draught, yummy guacamole. Definitely recommend.

We've been here a total of 3 times; the first two I would have rated at 3 1/2 to 4 for the food and service (tacos). The last time we were there, we specifically said we wanted to split 1 fajitas meal between the two of us. We thought the portion we received was good but had no idea it was supposed to be two portions. Maybe we should have known that the portion for one would be small; I just am not sure. But when we got the bill, we discovered we had been charged for 2 fajita meals. It was an eye opener. We didn't complain, we just paid and left. The food was good, but not good enough to go back again. The house margaritas (rocks) were very weak. Our server was young; maybe that's why there was a misunderstanding. The service was not very fast and we were the only customers in the entire business.

The restaurant was located about a mile from our hotel. It was busy but was able to sit at the bar without any wait time. Bartenders were great and the food was pretty good.

If you're looking for a nice, upscale Mexican restaurant, don't go. If you're looking for good service and great food, this place is the spot. Margaritas were awesome. Food was delicious.

A big menu with all the favorites plus some twists like Korean bulgogi tacos. A blue collar atmosphere in a blue collar neighborhood close to the airport -- and down the street from the original Chik-fil-A. Lunch specials and kid menu. Pool table and sports on TVs.

Three colleagues and I visited Sombreros a few weeks ago. It's one of my favorite places for lunch but was new for them. We each ordered their two taco plate. It comes with a large plate of rice and one of beans, plus one can choose from any of their list of about 20 tacos - all for under $8. I had two different types of chorizo tacos. Others in the group chose chicken, a Korean flavored option, and fish. Even our very strict vegetarian coworker was able to find quite a few choices. We have an hour for lunch. Between Sombreros' prompt service and plentiful on-site parking, we were able to have a great unhurried lunch and still make it back to the office on time. If you're tired of Tex-Mex, California-style or Americanized Mexican food, Sombreros is the best local choice for good authentic Mexican dishes. Definitely one of our favorite lunch spots and we will be back!

Searched for the best reviewed Mexican restaurant nearby while staying around the airport. Not sure why this place gets good reviews. It was below average.

We found this place on Trip advisor. The area is a little rough, luckily we went for lunch. The food and service was excellent. The servings are large and flavorful.

Sombreros in Hapeville, GA. I give this restaurant 3 stars. Why? It's not that the food is not good, nor that the atmosphere is not great. I give this restaurant 3 stars because they punish you for ordering over $50 by automatically charging everyone at the table a 20% gratuity. Not only that, they treat all the patrons at a table as one, so you only get one bill. You can't divide the bill, and if you do, and your part of the bill is under $50 you still get charged 20% because the total at that table was over $50. And here's the real kicker, it's not just for tables of 6 or more. So the catch is, if it's a party of 4 or more or if you go over $50 you're automatically charged 20%. So order wisely.

Excellent food. Tasted like we went and had a meal cooked for us at home. Very authentic and fresh. And the view of the airplanes taking off were an added enjoyment. Our new favorite Mexican restaurant

This is our local spot and its actually located in Hapeville. Great place for food, fun, and drinks. Your typical Mexican food and Tex-Mex favorites are available along with other more traditional dishes.

My husband and I were in Atlanta for a flight out so we stopped here. So glad we did! I had a taco with beans and rice and a house margarita; he had a super burrito. All good—and I really enjoyed the margarita (which means I enjoyed the fruit juice). Denys was our server—so nice and the food arrived instantly. Would definitely return!

I'll be a loyal customer! Food was fresh. Salsa and chips very good. Frozen margaritas yum!! A hole in the wall with great food!

Food is awesome, service is great (except for one server we don't care for). Salsa is spicy without being painful. Taco plate is a great option for sampling a few things. They do have Wednesday taco specials and Tuesday margarita nights. Friday nights WILL be busy with sometimes every table filled. We are literally in sombreros at least once a week. They are doing some updates and adding a patio (as of March 2017)

So uncharacteristically for me, I am rating this Resturant within the narrow category of Mexican fare (as opposed to restaurants globally). Went here as an meal on an overnight waiting for airport departure. It was close to hotel and had decent ratings. I have to admit that upon arriving I had to pull out the retirees again to make sure, as from the outside it wasn't some place I would otherwise have stopped at. Inside, nothing outstanding, just adequate. Standard chips, salsa was just a tad on the spicy side ( I liked it). And was but a tease for what was to come. I did t try anything extra ordinary as spicy new meals and flying early the next morning usually aren't an advisable combination. But the Taco/Burrito combo meal with rice & black beans caught my attention on first bite. The Taco was crispy and just the right spice. The burrito was filled with just spicy enough beef that if made my tongue ask for more (okay, maybe too poetic with that one). Even the rice and beans were extra favorable. I eat at various Mexican restaurants probably once every 1.5 weeks and this was a much better tasting plate than I've had in quite a while. In short, I'm sad I don't live in the area so I can come back. But for sure give them a try if you're ever in the vicinity of the airport. It won't be fancy but I'll beat ha it'll be tasty.

This place is great all the way around, pleasant, traditional music, bar, televisions. sports, friendly service, really good food. I gave 3 stars because there were flies that pestered us during lunch. Buy a 20 dollar bug vacuum and keep them down. Sonic Technology BugBuster BB100, Cordless Bug Vacuum & Catcher. Then I'll give 5 stars gladly. Peace.

Friends from the office suggested lunch here. I have to admit the place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food is great! They have a two taco plate with rice and beans (about $7.50), and about 20 different taco combinations from which to choose. I opted for one with chorizo, onions and cilantro and another with steak, chorizo, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. The tacos were served in two papery thin, warm corn tortillas - yum! Everything was tasty and fresh and service was quick. The lobster taco on the menu looked great so I'm sure I'll be back soon!

Staying at an airport hotel down the street - we walked to find a bite and stumbled upon this friendly little place. The restaurant has a bar/ restaurant combo layout but seemed more geared to food the night we visited. Despite the Tex-Mex sign over the front, the menu would be fairly recognizable as a good local Mexican. The dishes were inexpensive, portions good and quality above par for price-point. The chips and salsa that arrived as we looked at the menu came with a small bowl each for salsa which was in a glass carafe which was a great touch. The salsa was fresh and had a good kick. The staff were friendly and despite having Christmas parties in that night, the service was speedy and the kitchen had food out on time.

Location and ambiance wasn't great, but the food was reasonably priced and fantastic. Some of the best Mexican food I have had in quite a while. Prices were very affordable as well.

I found this place on trip advisor because my wife wanted Mexican food and to get her a drink so I can get back behind the wheel I ordered sweet tea and she gets the 32oz drink on rocks. Food was ready in 10min the servers was fast and friendly and the portions was huge and tasty

Can't believe I happened on this place and hit Wednesday night specials on ALL TACOS! The spicy shrimp, the Michelle Korean and the lobster ALL TERRIFIC! Marlen gave great taco advise and made a damn good skinny margarita. TWICE! If I ever need to be near the Atlanta airport again, I will definitely return to Sombreros.

Lots of choices for vegetarians. Decent prices. Service sometimes needs improving, but it's a large dining area. Wish they had a better patio. But overall it it good and I will return.

I was in town with my sisters and daughter and looking for authentic Mexican for my birthday. We were staying by the airport and I did my homework and found this place nearby. I was a little nervous at first since it's in a strip mall and the decor is looking a little tire but the food was delicious. The guacamole was fresh and the margaritas were perfect. We stayed and talked for a couple of hours and the waitress was perfectly attentive.

The margaritas here are the best around! The food is pretty good- some things are better than others- like the chimichanga, which is excellent! Most of the tacos are good but I'd recommend sticking with the more traditional Mexican tacos as some of the others are just meh- the Korean style tacos will be a disappointment to those who true fans of Korean food. The biggest disappointment of all however is the service- not all of it- but just one server in particular who I seem to get stuck with every time by the name of Eva Maria (or something like that). Don't let her pretty exterior fool you- she's cute but not friendly at all. She'll bring you your food and then you won't see her again until it's time to bring the check. After you pay she will literally just set your check down and walk away- no thank you, nothing. Such minimal and ungracious service it is infuriating! She is a shame to all those hard working servers who go above and beyond in hopes of getting a 20% tip (like myself). I actually felt angry the last time I left there because of her poor service. But I've learned my lesson! I don't want to punish a decent business for one bad employee so I will make my point to avoid her section from now on and I would advise anyone else to do the same. Ask for Tiffany- she's awesome!

I went since I seen the reviews and I must say that this hole in the whole is a gem. The service was great and the food was way better than I excepted. The drinks were even better.

This is a great restaurant in Hapeville. Good food. If you haven't been to Hapevlle in a while you're missing out on a very upcoming area.

Located just outside the airport, Sombreros is an attractive Mexican Cantina with The only reason I gave it a rating of 4 instead of 5 is because it took a little longer than I expected to get our food considering they had just opened for the day and there was only one other family there.

Got in late from a long day Travel. Looking for Mexican restaurant close to our hotel. Walked from Best Western. Had taco, burrito, chile relleno. Delicious. Great home made salsa. Reasonably priced.

What is it about so many Mexican restaurants looking sketchy on the outside but inside being clean, with attentive service and good fresh food. I had the enchilada verdes which was very good. Not spicy hot but flavorful. The salsa, cheese dip and guacamole was great too. My business friends enjoyed their dinners as well. If you’re staying at the Airport Hilton it’s an easy drive here.

Easy 5 stars. Stopped in to place a pick up order and adorable Stefany was able to get my order in and ready to go within 10 minutes. Food was delicious and still piping hot when I got home. We'll be back - good stuff for sure!

I was here for Cinco de Mayo and the service was a little slow, but the food was good. The parking lot had plenty of space and there was outdoor seating which was needed because they were busy.

They have fish, shrimp, and lobster tacos that were $2. Not sure if this was a special on a Wednesday.

Not fancy but very good. I eat here about once a month. The servers are friendly and it's clean. What impressed me the first time I went was that 3 of us ordered different pork dishes. Each one was made with it's own blend of spices. Not a "one food in different shapes" kind of place. The salsa and guacamole are fresh and delicious. Plus I get to watch the Mexican football matches in the separated bar area. Lots of fun.

We went there not expecting much. The food was delicious, service food, prices were great. I ordered a magarata that I thought cost $16 but it was $7 for 16 oz! They had good beer on draft for $4. P

This restaurant was right across from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. It was packed when we arrived and the waitress explained there would be a 40 minute wait on food because kitchen was short staffed. We ordered drinks to pass the time. Honestly the wait wasn't terrible because we were watching the MLB draft on their tvs and really wasn't paying attention to the time. They refilled our chips and drinks and were very attentive. Our food was delicious when it came. I had the fajita nachos and definitely recommend. The chips in the beginning weren't the best I have ever had but the salsa made up for it. The wait staff were working so hard and maintained a positive attitude the whole time. Everyone was apologetic for the wait. Don't let the wait time scare you away, give this a shot!

Thought that this chain restaurant would not be all that good, however, I totally enjoyed their Ribs. The service that night was very good, and the cost of the complete meal was reasonable. I even went back for their lunch special again, before I left the island. The service at lunchtime was not as good as in the evening. I did tell the mgr., and hopefully he will rectify that.

Not fancy on the outside but great food. My wife says best quesadilla she has ever eaten. Get the white cheddar dip - awesome. Definitely go there again.

Here on business trip... and was working 2 straight days thru lunch Decided to just drive around... saw this place... Their shredded chicken taco salad was soooo good.. Definitely recommends this And my service was awesome The only thing is the place... they need to complete renovation 😎

I come to Atlanta for work all of the time and stay out by the airport on Virginia Avenue. Found this place my accident and have never looked back. I come in at least once a week. Chips and Salsa are amazing. Never had a bad meal here and if you like Tortilla Soup then you really need to try it. People that work here are great. Shouts out to Whitney one of the servers who is friendly and fun and great at her job. Make sure to stop by here for an amazing meal. Might not look like you are missing much when you drive by (looks like a bar), but give it a chance and you will be happy!!!

My husband and I tried Sombreros for the first time and sat out on the patio. There was food everywhere on the ground, which meant lots of ants and flies, too. The margarita was awful, the food was okay, but the lack of cleanliness will prevent us from returning.

Fajitas great, steak tacos great and service is almost to fast! Thanks Jose and Joanne for making everyone feel at home

We are so happy to have found a great Mexican restaurant so close to home! The margarita was strong, chips, salsa and queso with chorizo all yummy. We had enchiladas and flautas. Definitely look forward to more frequent dinners here!

Loved sitting out on the patio for dinner and watching the planes take off and land from the airport. Our service was wonderful, and the food was excellent. I'll be back on my next trip through town!

Enchilada okay, rice would be great if it were fresh, but the choriso queso appetizer 50 percent onions. Best part of the meal was the 4 fresh slices of Avacado on my appetizer. Chips are over cooked and salsa heavy tomatoe sauce. Friendly service and large area for big parties.

The ambiance is great. Just stopped in from a flight and the service was excellent. The taco's are large and filling.

The waitress was prompt in serving us. Our food came out fast & hot. The frozen margarita was very salty & left your taste buds feeling off. They did have a variety of tacos that were interesting and good. The restaurant was a little run down & the atmosphere could've used a theme. The price was good for the food we got. Overall it was good if you live there, but coming through Atlanta for a quick visit, this would not be my choice.

Overnighting at the Airport without a car means the dinner choice is limited. sombreros is an easy 10 minute walk from the Best Western Airport East. The menu has a large number of specials - so I opetd the "The Chad Plate". The food was very good, the only disappointment being that this was a dish flagged in the menu as "spicy" and contained habanero salsa. I did find it hard to detect any chili heat at all. The bar staff are very friendly and welcoming - this is a good, low-key place to relax, have something to eat and a beer (or more if you like: there is a full bar).
Authentic with a capital "A"
Initially took a chance as a walk in whilst staying at the Kimpton across the road. We liked it so much we went back a second day! It really is what you see is what you get - has a lovely old world feel to it and great to see so many locals using it - always a good sign. Massive menu but food is fresh, well proportioned and rich with taste. Service is pleasant but a bit haphazard which actually adds to the real feel of it. Perhaps its one downfall is that one good spring clean without spoiling the feel would be make a real difference. That said, great place, try it out.
