Romantic atmosphere that my wife and I love. Ravioli, fish, filet, divine soups, breads to die for and a great wine list. Again and again and again. Bravo.

We picked Sorrento for our anniversary brunch. Lovely decor, not too crowded and fantastic attentive staff. The piano player was a great addition. Everyone's meal starts out with your choices from a beautiful selection of breads and muffins...all delicious. For entrees, I had the frittata with goat cheese and basil and hubby had crab cakes Benedict. Delicious and wonderful presentation. The special yummy dessert they treated us with made the meal perfect. We will go again!

We've been to this restaurant near our house many times, and it never fails to impress. The food and the service are outstanding. Try the perfectly tender filet mignon with wild mushrooms and a cognac sauce or the lightly coated sea bass with great risotto. Also, there is often a piano player on the grand piano between the bar and the main dining area. Last night we enjoyed a singer from France as well. Reservations highly suggested.

For my birthday yesterday, nothing was more appropriate than a fine dinner in a fine Italian restaurant. The service was impeccable. With Massimo, I had the opportunity to practice my Italian. The dinner was close to perfection. The pianist was amazing although I could not recall him playing any popular Italian songs. There was a lack of authenticity in the atmosphere if you were looking for or expecting some typical Italian ambience. Thanks for the birthday cake! The Limoncello was from Sorrento (the restaurant) not from Sorrento, Italy. A good Limoncello connoisseur will understand my message. We will not only go back but will gladly organize some group events there. Ciao Massimo!

We had a GREAT dinner and will definitely go back again. As others have stated it is on the expensive side but the food was absolutely GREAT. Most of the food dishes wasn't overly expensive but bottles of wines were pretty pricey. We had 1/2 bottle ($35) of their blended wine which was very good. The 1\2 bottle choices was good for us, we never drink a full bottle. Large tray of bread to choose from and Olive oil with whole roasted garlic and herbs. We had veal ravioli and spaghetti with veal meatballs both were great. The ravioli sauce was excellent.

A group of us went to Sorrento for a birthday dinner. The service was very good since we had the private wine room. The appetizers were good but the main dinner was not. The Chilean Seabass was very fishy for all of the those that ordered it. Because it was a dinner party we did not return the meal but another person returned the Ahi Tuna. I called the restaurant to complain the next day and they said a manager would call me back which they did not do. For the amount of money we spent per person this meal was below average and I will not eat there again.

We ate dinner with a large group of people on a Friday night, and received prompt, friendly, attentive service. The servers made sure to accommodate our group with our requests and preferences. While the food itself is good or great depending upon what you order, the star of the show here is the bread and steak. The pasta is good, but not in the top of the best pastas I've ever eaten. The cocktails and wine are also very good. What this restaurant lacks in food flavor, makes up for in customer service.

Wonderful service and fantastic meal. Enjoyed a romantic dinner with the girlfriend here after a nearby get together with friends. Popped in not knowing what to expect and was cheerfully surprised. High quality Italian food with excellent service from both the wait staff and front of the house. A bit pricey, but worth it.

A birthday lunch with four people. Everyone thought the food and service was very, very good. Inside, the restaurant is very attractive and quite. The retail center where the restaurant's situated doesn't have much parking and you need to be watchful turning into and out of it. They have Valet service. The food was delicious, one had a pasta dish, angel hair with grilled chicken breast, one had the fire grilled chicken breast and two had the seafood special of the day, grilled Branzini . The seafood was cooked perfectly, very flaky and moist. In short it was a wonderful birthday luncheon and we will visit again.

I hardly ever write a review but this place deserves one. Not only was the food very mediocre, they charged $34 for pasta with chicken for my 2 year old daughter. When I talked to the manager, they said they do not have a kids menu and that we shouldn’t have ordered my daughter anything, that she could have ate some of our food. It is safe to say we will never be coming back to this place and you should do the same.

My experience with Sorrento has been excellent. I've had several menu items and found them all to be delicious. The service has also been excellent. I have gone with friends and alone. Alone, I like to eat at the bar - They have a piano player in the evenings and that makes it a relaxing atmosphere as well.

It’s a nice Italian restaurant food served is ok but not great it seems to me the chef need more training to offer the right Italian taste even for Houston .wine selection fair I am sorry but can not say you have to try it

Went here last night on a double date. The food was good, but the service was not. Our main waiter was ok. The person that brought the bread reached over my wife to put here bread on the wrong bread plate, when he could have put it on hers without reaching over. This was also the first time of 3 during the night that reaching over her he brushed up against her breasts. It seamed unintentional, however extremely poor service.

The wild mushroom and Sage ravioli starter was extremely nice, great balance on the dish. My wife had the Tuscan bean soup which was as good, you have a dilemma choosing here, The pan seared wild salmon is Donald Trump "huge" Their butternut squash ravioli is very very nice, great home-made pasta, The service here is old world refined and on point, A great wine list complements the menu, hurry, get here for the fantastic restaurant week values.

All was great till we got an unexpected bill. Brunch was $35/person and you could have any entree on the menu plus salad/soup & desert. A great brunch. Except that the waiter told us the specials and did not explain that they were not "entrees". When that happened all of a sudden everything was a la carte. Since two of four took the special it added a lot to the bill. The bill should have been $195 plus tax & tip. It was $$266 plus tax & tip. The manager gave us a "bargain" and made the bill 223 plus tax & tip. Still overcharging by $28 plus tax.

Great service, amazing "not standard" Italian food, as the evening went on the room got very noisy, which made it hard to carry on a conversation with my wife, and she was directly next to me.

This place was highly recommended by our friends and family. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. We had a party of 6 and ordered two nice bottles of wine, a white & a red. The reason for this one star review is that our “Head Server” PEDRO CASTRO opened bottles of wine without asking the host if we wanted more and towards the end he poured himself the rest of our Ferrari Carono Chardonnay (thinking that no one will notice) before we even got the dessert. Some of our guests were still drinking it. What a shame for such a nice establishment.

Tried many dishes here and always delighted. Pasta with vodka sauce, Venison, filet and lobster, cioppino, and most recently the sea bass; appetizers are also excellent: mussels are hugely portioned, escargot great!, risotto you must try as it is prepared table side from a copper pot spooned into a cheese wheel and topped with truffles and truffle oil. So delicious! Wait staff are very friendly and like family, much like the Italian tradition. Worthy of special mention is Frank the creative mixologist who spends months infusing vodka with fruit and Mark the pianist who will learn your song if he doesn't already know it. All under the watchful eye of the attentive owner, Abas, who absolutely knows what he is doing.

Second time at Sorrento and there were no flaws to report. Food, service and atmosphere all were great. I read other reviews and some people complain that this is not real Italian food. Let me tell you, if you are coming to Sorrento to get spaghetti and meatball, veal picatta and pizza, go to Maggianos or Macaroni Grill. Sorrento is elegant and sophisticated Italian food. Appetizers, salads, entrees and dessert are top notch!. One thing that amazed me is that just reading the menu is an exciting esperience because of the different refined options of some typical Italian dishes and, at the same time, different and original plates that you die for trying. The fix menu is a steal: great combination of options, more than fair portions and a great price. Service was fast, attentive and respectful. The live piano adds a nice touch to the evening. Could be little noisy inside. If you prefer a more private setting, ask to be seated in the lateral corridor. It Is romantic and less crowded. Not cheap, though, but worth every penny. My wife and friends were with the fix menu and they were delighted (short ribs tortellini, burratta salad and option of either the filet with seared foie gras or the fish and panna cotta for dessert. I got the pasta of the day (a tortellone on sage butter), burratta salad and the Veal chop ant all plates were amazing… We’ll try again for sure…

Tried this during Houston's Restaurant Week... Wow! Excellent in every way... the service, the food, the bread dipping sauce... best tiramisu I've ever had! I will definitely return!

Since it was the second Sat. of Dec. the restaurant was very busy. We were a party of 8 none of whom had ever dined at Sorrento. We were seated on time for our reservation at 630PM. Our service was impeccable without being intrusive. The menu is impressive and beautifully presented and delicious. The bread varieties are impressively presented in a huge bread basket by the server----wonderful! The flat bread is to die for! There is only valet since it's located in a small shopping center in Montrose. My husband noted that there was no TV in the bar---how nice!

We had a wonderful dinner with friends the other night. The food and service was excellent. They have a piano player and she was wonderful to listen to during dinner. Very enjoyable evening. We will go back soon.

Our server Raul was wonderful. I enjoyed the food. The minestrone was amazing and Risotto was good. I thought the sauce was to spicy for my taste for the spaghetti and meatballs

Dining at Sorrento was excellent from door to door, save a one loose edge. Walking into Sorrento one feels instantly: This could be really good! Being warmly greeted and graciously seated at the time of our reservation at 7:30 on Friday night, our group of four was instantly impressed. The wine list was extensive and had many high-end selections, and wells as several moderately-priced, high-value choices. Our selection was presented and poured as one would hope, but rarely finds. The selection of warm, fresh breads was the best I can recall. One could dine delightfully on the bread basket, butter, and wine but should resist that temptation. Specials for the evening were described knowledgably and appetizingly. I wanted them all plus 3 or 4 menu offerings from each category. The food was excellent in every way but one. Had the entrées had arrived at table hot instead of warm, Sorrento would go to the top of my dining list. Otherwise, every dish was seasoned well and creatively, presented professionally and with aplomb, and plated attractively. Every plate was cleaned, and all diners were very pleased. Service was truly exceptional. Servers at Sorrento were truly professionals and join those at Aquarello in San Francisco and Marmalade in San Juan, as the best. I cannot recall ever being warmly greeted (and by name) on the way out, but what a perfect ending to an outstanding dining experience. We left with the distinct feeling that the staff had truly appreciated serving us. I decided on Sorrento based on TripAdvisor reviews and look forward to going back. Dr. Scott says: Do yourself a true dining favor, and check it out.

My husband and I really love to come here for special occasions. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it. I love how they come around bringing a huge bread basket with all types of different breads to choose from. The bread dip they put out is very good. I've had the scallops several times are they are so good. We've also come from brunch once before we had the migas and it was just as delicious as dinner. Definitely great for dates or special family occasions

the service and food was very good. the plates are large and easily shared. very typically italian fare.

Wonder high end restaurant for Italian food. Homemade pasta and wonderful dishes. Great for a special occasion.

The service is wonderful and the dining experience worth the price. Love the bread basket choices! My girlfriends and I make an annual visit to dine here.

I visited this place for lunch and liked it a lot so I returned for a dinner with my husband. It is a classic restaurant not a noisy trendy place. The service is excelente and food is impeccable. Delicious bread basket with variety of fresh bread is brought to you to choose. A good wine selection. My husband had dinner fish special and said it was cooked to perfection. I had filet mignon, lobster tail with gnocchi. It is hard to find tasty gnocchi but I did, here at Sorrento. We will definitely return.

I've been here for several dinners, usually related to work. Menu is limited, and decent choices that do remind me of southern Italy. Waiters can tend to hover, and the food is good. But, there are much better Italian restaurants in Houston.

I LOVED visiting Sorrento's for the first time a few weeks ago. The entrance is classic and smart. The bar is inviting, welcoming yet with a slightly conservative feel. I think I saw a piano, if I didn't it would not have been out of place and it's the sort of place where the lighting is obviously completely right, the seating obviously correctly comfortable and the environment inviting yet private. It reminded me of my younger days living in London and being taken on dates to these fabulous well-healed restaurants where you really didn't even need to think, as everything is done for you....it was a lovely evening. From a food point of view, I couldn't fault it, accept to say that the very generous bread supply offered is to substitute those with larger appetites feeling let down. Actually, if you ate as the italians with several courses over a few hours, you would be over-full or very satisfied and a good 3 course selection would be well recommended. I have been told to say the duck was the best ever eaten and I must say I was delighted with my first course ravioli - simply perfect. In fact every dish was well delivered. So what could be wrong with this venue? Sometimes a little too much attention in the first 20 minutes which kept halting conversation; perhaps as we were seated in the "conservatory" we would have preferred to choose a table further inside. With this type of restaurant my husband would say it was a place to use the phrase "just pay the man" - have everything you want, choose the food you want, the wine you want and relax and enjoy the experience - it's worth 4 times an average meal out any day......

My husband and I go there all the time and enjoy there pasta and lasagna, but Tonight (Valentine’s night) me and my family went there. First of all they gave us a special menu, with 3 courses $ 137 per person, we had to choose from that and cause they didn’t have their pasta and lasagna, I had to order filet. Necer had such an awful steak that expensive! Won’t go back ever again. 5 people ended up paying $750+ 200 tip!

Ordered snails as an appetizer thinking how good they are prepared. The snails were bland tasing with lots of unsalted butter and no garlic, what a total strike out to start a meal. Second course was a nice salad. Entree was a seared tuna on a bed of risotto with crab meat. The tuna looked nice but had a rotten fish taste. I have never eaten a piece of tuna that had a bad fish taste, my guess is the tuna was soiled or the kitchen left the tuna in fish water in their cooler. I told our waiter we couldn’t eat the tuna because it had a bad fish taste and he didn’t speak real good English so he looked at me like he didn’t comprehend what I was saying. Eventually he understood what I was saying and ask if we would like anything else. I asked him to please bring us an order of butternut squash ravioli. The ravioli was good. The manager came by our table and apologized for the spoiled tuna and told our waiter to comp us a dessert. While we were starting eating our ravioli I asked the waiter if they made soufflés for dessert and he said yes they had chocolate soufflés. I have made soufflés at home before and knew it requires time to make so I ask our waiter to put in 2 orders for chocolate soufflés. The waiter looked at me and said it only requires 15 minutes for them to get soufflés out of the kitchen. I know some restaurants require placing an order of soufflés an hour ahead of time to give the kitchen enough time to properly make them. We finished eating our ravioli and waited at least 30 minutes and still did not have our soufflés. I was getting ready to ask our waiter when I saw him for the check because I was getting tired from waiting. Finally our waiter showed up, hurriedly dumped one soufflé on our table and ran off with out saying a word to us. I understand the restaurant was under staffed by 2 waiters tonight but that doesn’t make up for the poor unacceptable snails and fishy tasting tuna entree. A properly run kitchen for a high end restaurant should have better quality control over the food they prepare. While the ambience was nice at Sorrento, I can’t recommend eating at this restaurant and I doubt I would go back,

A very nice quaint spot offering excellent service, quality cuisine, professional attentive friendly staff, and upscale ambience. So pleased to see people dressing up for dinner. This truly reminded me of restaurants in Amalfi.

we love Sorrento for the decor, service and the wonderful bread basket and the charming piano music; but the chef has gone off the rails on us for our taste--too many overkill sauces and way too much for a palettte to absorb-my foie gras was loaded with roquefort-both assertive and not friendly: too rich and competing for dominance.. There are many mentions of truffle oil that most chefs decry. Heavy hand will make us go elsewhere-

Went to diner last night 3-7-20 at 730. It was very peaceful with the piano player and dim lighting. They start you off with a bread tray and Garlic cloves. I had the short ribs that fell off the bone and did not need a knife to cut, this was sitting on top of mashed potatoes with a good flavor. I ended the meal with a chocolate suffle with was excellent. we had mixed drinks and coffee and the tab came out to 75 dollars each. It is a good place to take a date, they have free valet for parking.

Ut was ok, but i was really expecting mych more for what i hear about. Service was good but for the price i was expecting a WOW food

Sorrentos is one of the best in town. The service is impeccable and the food Devine. I had Duck ravioli with foie gras followed by salmon on truffle risotto with crab and shrimp. The bread basket is fabulous and unique to Sorrentos. I finished with chocolate cannelloni another unique item rarely found anywhere. The meal was accompanied with a fine Cabernet from napa. Overall a superb meal.

We dined on a Sunday night to celebrate the birthdays of our wives. While waiting for our friends to arrive the hostess introduced us to Raúl our server and Mark the piano player. We were offered to be seated but chose to wait as our friends were only a few minutes out. Once seated they brought around a large bread tray with about 5 different bread types to choose from, along with garlic and oil on the table....outstanding. Two of us got the risotto mixed in the large cheese bowl. It was good but not great. It was fun to watch it prepared table-side. Some of us had beet salads which were reported as very good. I had the lobster bisque which was very nice with chunks of lobster. I had the short ribs special which was good +, I probably should have went with my first choice of the lasagna. My wife had a pasta dish which she really liked. One friend had the tasting menu which she enjoyed and found very filling. Raúl our server did an outstanding job and took care of us with perfection. He was always available but not hovering. We had a couple of nice wine....Stags Leap Petite Sirah...see photo. The ambiance was wonderful with holiday lights and Mark the piano player. While normally not a fan of live music in restaurants, Mark did an outstanding job of playing soft seasonal music that didn’t interfere with our conversations. I will definitely return here. This place is perfect for that nice dinner out or special occasions. They also have a wine room for small groups....which was in use the night of our visit.

Went here for a business dinner with my colleagues after a long busy day. The restaurant was about 12 minutes from the Marriott Marquis downtown. The place was a little fancy (I felt a little under dressed in my sneakers). The menu selections were amazing. After a martini I had an arugula salad with figs, goat cheese and candied pecans dressed with a very light vinaigrette - it was amazingly fresh, peppery and the goat cheese was tasty, soft and very fresh. My main course was a special - lobster tail, shrimps, clams and mussels over a fresh linguine with a white wine/lemon sauce. The sauce was light and fresh, parsley sparked here and there. What I loved about this is that there was way more seafood than pasta - it was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for either a business dinner or a date or a celebration. I'm coming back in July for another meeting and cannot wait to come back to this restaurant.

After successive steak dinners, we decided to go to an Italian restaurant and Sorrento did not disappoint. The bread was wonderful and so is the olive oil and balsamic dip which came with roasted garlic and pesto sauce. We shared an order of bruschetta with tomato, basil and mozzarella to start. For my main course, I had the pappardelle pasta with Alfredo sauce and grilled shrimps. Wow, it was very good! We also enjoyed two very nice bottle of red wine.

Vallet parking, very formal traditional restaurant, with excellent food and outstanding service. Smaller dining areas each with it's own charm and atmosphere. Type of place where the waitstaff place your napkin for you and the bread is delivered by a special "bread" server. The Tuscan Bean soup had enormous flavor and was not too much before a meal. The Duck Confit ravioli was a special, and was not overly impressed by it. Nice reduction and obviously homemade pasta, but the filling not super special, as duck confit can be. Both of us had the sea bass which was done in a light citrus butter sauces with capers and wilted spinach. Quite a large piece for me, but it disappeared. The almond cake with white coffee cream and candied orange peels was moist and tasty and quite lovely! again both of us had same dessert, but other desserts look just as good. The wine selection is fairly extensive, but neither of our choices were very good. Prosecco was too sweet, and the sauvignon blanc was a little grape-y in not a good way. Overall the dining experience was very special and a nice way to end a stay with a friend. Reservations are expected, I think, since we didn't have one and were asked later after being seated by one person, the maitre d if we had them. Think we were in a table that had been requested by a group that came in after we did. We came quite early and there were only two tables with people in the whole place, so don't think we caused too much of a stir, and we left as the dinner crowd was starting to come in. My companion had been at this restaurant many times for special occasions and now I can see why. Very nice evening.

I loved this place, will definitely be back. Everyone at my table was happy with there order. The veal was great, the fish was great.

I must preface this review...past dining experiences have been wonderful and memorable. Most recent visit 02-25-2017 was memorable for all the wrong reasons! We did not share our issues on said evening for many reasons, but I did phone the following Monday and shared all with Trey, the Mgr. He did offer to right the evening, but I had to decline given our current life complications. I do HOPE he implements suggested changes for a better evening had by patrons! Our table: against left wall in back room, and one table on either side of us so close we chatted with them. (Never intended for this evening to include such conversations) Because of AWKWARD location, not only was it difficult to get out, we had to push the table out in order to do so (we are not large people!) Was a 4-top, but only 2 chairs due to limited space! Because of our chair location, it was as if we were staring at the center table! Also, could barely hear Mark, pianist, in the next room over! Pianist: MARK IS SO TALENTED, just wish we had been closer to him to hear. 👍😊😆 Best part of the evening Table side Risotto: This table blocked not only our table but one to the left and a few chairs to the table in front, leaving those unable to leave/return for a lengthy period. It was pushed there by our server and just left there! (See pictures added). Risotto is just not good cold! I couldn't eat it. Server: Sound in this back room left it difficult to hear our TALL server. Wish he had been more present at the right times. Food: Risotto not up to Sorrento's standards or previous dining experiences. This was a special evening for us, but we left without ordering dessert. 😢 Has nice ambiance. Unfortunately, this was an "off" night for Sorrento.

The food was outstanding. The chef did an outstanding job in preparing wonderful dishes. One would have thought they were in Italy if they did not know differently. The service was the best as they tended to your every need. There is a wide variety on the menu and the dishes are not of the Olive Garden variety but more of the authentic traditional Italian kitchen variety. The is a great wine list and the desserts can't be beat.

Wait staff attentive without being overbearing and very helpful with menu choices. Enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere was nice, not too loud, a little subdued and perfect for conversation.

This is by far the best Italian, as well as one of the best over-all restaurants in Houston. Customer service is only surpassed by the fine food. I eat here quite a lot, and have never had a bad, or even mediocre dish. Try it, and you will be extremely happy.

Great Italian food! Beautiful ambiance. Excellent Service. Our waiter went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Homemade pasta. You can't go wrong trying this restaurant!

I had wanted to be cheesy and "relive our engagement" and found choose this solely because of its name. We got engaged in Sorrento, Italy and the restaurant was named Sorrento. We didn't expect anything extravagant, but it was worth the drive. We live in the Woodlands so we usually just go to steakhouses nearby, but this was a special occasion. This was the best service I've ever experienced, first since we are a young couple people don't pay much attention to us but we were seated and approached by multiple staff members to be asked why we choose the restaurant and if it was our first time then welcomed us. We had originally gone for the restaurant week set menu but after looking at the menu prices realized we could just get our picks for cheaper than the set price. I ended up getting a Crispy Atlantic Salmon decorated on crab meat with a lobster risotto on the side..delicious! I usually get salmon at restaurants and this is the best salmon I've ever had. I will be coming back for this dish again (it was a special so they better put it on the menu!). My husband got a Osso Bucco and was very impressed as well. I wasn't amazed by the crab cake appetizer but they made up for it in the main course. The waiters checked on us constantly and recommended some new wines to try. After my husband got the soufflé and I got a double chocolate cake with vanilla gelato (very good) but because it took a while for his they brought us limoncello shots, I haven't had that since Italy so that was a nice surprise. Great experience and a nice romantic night out. Excellent service.

The four of us had a great dinner at Sorrento. The fantastic bread basket and delicious roasted garlic starter were a wonderful beginning to our meal. The appetizers were great all around, except that the beef for the carpaccio was sliced too thick. The risotto prepared in the cheese wheel iwass an elegant touch. Mains were excellent: filet mignon (unfortunately overcooked), beef short ribs, and Chilean sea bass. The chocolate soufflé was amazing. What bothered all of us immensely, however, was the feeling of being rushed through the meal. We had hardly sat down and had barely ordered some cocktails, and we were already being asked for our wine selection. While it is understandable that the soufflé may take a bit longer to prepare, there's also no reason to force us to choose our dessert before even serving the mains! And finally, it would have been nice to actually wait a few moments after clearing the table before bringing the dessert.... It seems that the kitchen staff all do their jobs very well, as the meal preparation, taste and serving was excellent. However, the waiters were all quite young, and seemed inexperienced. While they were great to recite the memorized specials of the evening, they were not able to recommend a wine, for example. That along with the extreme speed of the service was unfortunate, given the caliber of the restaurant.

The love affair started when I got married. We had a small wedding dinner here and the food was amazing and we had a custom menu. The next event was our one year anniversary, birthday and holiday celebrations. Each time the food was delicious and service was great. My husband took this past weekend for my birthday and we had forgot how amazing the food is here. Well worth the money you drop here. I ordered a virgin drink nothing I ever tasted and it was awesome!

Many years ago we lived in Houston so when we returned for a business trip, we decided not to go to our favorites but rather explore a new restaurant. We rely on TripAdvisor and found Sorrento Ristorante on Westheimer. We were staying in downtown Houston and the drive to the restaurant was very easy and not too long. Valet parking was very efficient. We were early for our reservation and offered to sit in the bar and wait. Instead, the Hostess seated us right away at a very comfortable and well-placed table (I like to "people watch".) We enjoyed cocktails and an appetizer (carpaccio) and were offered quite a variety of breads and a tasty garlic dip. We also selected a wine for dinner. The service was excellent and never too-too. The piano player was a special treat. He played many different types of music and I especially enjoyed the music of Broadway. Dinner was lamb and was excellent! After a slow dinner but still wanting to enjoy the piano music, we moved to the bar for a nightcap. I asked for a "Perfect Manhattan" and was very pleased to get exactly that. So, add the bartender to the "good job" list. What added fun to the evening...and I give credit to the casual and festive atmosphere of the restaurant...is that we met a group of visiting Canadians. We enjoyed the conversation as well as the music. Sorrento is a very good restaurant and we will definitely return. The one drawback is the small size...but the coziness added to the friendly atmosphere.

I wanted a special family dinner before heading downtown for a show at the Hobby Center and Sorrento was the perfect spot. The service was impeccable, the food delicious and we could actually have a conversation without shouting at each other. The soups are definitely appetizer size so don’t hesitate to order one as a starter. The lobster bisque wasn’t too heavy and had nice chunks of lobster. The Tuscan bean soup was a win with my daughter. The caprese salad was generous and classic. I loved my mushroom ravioli and my son enjoyed his filet as well. Roasted chicken was pretty classic but I would suggest you try a pasta instead. Desserts were all classic and delicious; we split Creme brûlée and almond cake... I wanted chocolate but will try it next time. Great night and then we zipped downtown and made the show.

We had a group of 7 for a business lunch here. They have a $24.95 business lunch that is excellent. Impeccable service, good atmosphere and delicious food as always. Great for a romantic dinner too--my husband and I celebrated our anniversary here last year.

Sorrento's is located on the east end of Westheimer close to midtown. The restaurant atmosphere is comfortable and "homey" as the restaurant is presented in an old Montrose home. It has a intimate atmosphere, yet allows for large groups and private dining. The background music offered by the pianist is a bit too loud for my taste. It had a strong tendency to make polite conversation difficult. I would recommend they "tone it down." Don't get me wrong, I love the music, but please at a few less decibals as I like to converse in an normal tone with my companions. As for the meal....FANTASTIC. Service was excellent, prompt and very attentive. The lobster bisque and scallop wrapped in bacon is an excellent start. The duck, lasagna (a signature disy) as well as lobster tortellino were perfect in temperature and taste. Presentation was well done and the service provided in a way to help not overlord. The dessert menu needs some help, as the usual offerings (can we move on from creme brulee and bread pudding please) were available but nothing caught my fancy (or any of my 3 companions). The wine list is short and needs to be increases, although the wine they had was first rate (Stags Leap Cab, 2011 is highly recommended) and serviced promptly. Again as always my one complaint is the lack of sugar cubes for my espresso.....alas... but I will keep bringing this up. Sorrento's is a great find for you and your friends. ENJOY!

This is an exceptional place. The salmon for lunch is to die for. They have very good food and a very good business lunch location

I just realized that I have never reviewed this restaurant, even though they are our "go-to" place. Wonderful place for dinner, very nice ambience, great for a romantic dinner. Excellent food, excellent service. When we want a really nice meal with no surprises, this is our pick. Lovely breads, best fish preparation I have had in this town, very good wine list (although very fully priced), live music at dinner. Often if we don't come for dinner we might have an appetizer at the bar. I recently tried lunch there and it was very nicely done with a terrific mini-chocolate soufflé as one of the desserts on the business lunch menu. Valet parking, and very welcoming, they really appreciate repeat business. I'm not sure I have gone to ANY restaurant in Houston where I have had a better dinner experience.

I can't say enough about how great this place is. We do all of our special occasions here and it's not unusual for me to just go on a Friday night. The chocolate souflle is the BEST DESERT in Houston!!!! Well worth the time it takes to make it. (I order it with my meal!!!) Don't miss this restaurant!!!

The ambiance of the restaurant is great, our food was good but not to die for. We arrived early and decided to seat at the bar…. it took the bartender almost 10 minutes to pay attention to us. Obviously he was very busy, but then they need to get him some help. He had ZERO personality, no smile, no nothing. After having our drinks we went to get our table, the two young ladies at the reception area the same thing ZERO personality they were NOT welcoming at all. The only thing that saved the night was our wonderful waiter Anthony who was funny and helpful although it took a while to get our main course…. not his fault though, the restaurant was busy. The bill was pretty high too …. we love Da Marco which is not expensive but it is very consistent with their food, services, etc….we just wanted to try something new. Maybe we did not have good luck that night.

Meal was good to great depending on what you ordered. My favorite dish was the shrimp gnocchi, but I was disappointed by the risotto. Don't be fooled by the white linian table clothes, dress style was everything from blue jeans and a shirt to jacket and slacks. If you want to listen to the piano make sure to sit close. Once the room fills up it is difficult to hear.

Great good, great atmosphere great food.... All you want for a night out! We come here maybe twice a year and it's always a great night for dinning out..... Go and try it!

Friends took me out for a belated birthday dinner due to Hurricane Harvey. Had not been to Sorrento for years, and was not disappointed. First of all I love the ambience of the place...it's warm, well appointed and has an excellent piano player. Our party enjoyed the crab cake over polenta, the green salad with Gorgonzola and fresh figs, and calamari. For entrees we chose the Bronzino special, the grilled scallops [near perfection] and the short rib special [melt in your mouth tender]. And of course you cannot skip dessert at this restaurant, so we tried the creme brûlée, the bread pudding and the tiramisu. All fantastic. And the service was over the top perfect. One of the best dining experiences in Houston.

This was my first visit and the restaurant itself is beautiful...very upscale. It is a good restaurant if you want to make a good impression. As others have mentioned, they bring around an enormous basket of assorted breads for you to chose from and they are very good. When you are seated, you are given a dish of olive oil and roasted garlic with some balsamic vinegar. Very tasty. I had the caprese salad and the tomatoes were not great, but it was January. I had the sea bass and it was exquisite. The sauce was lick your plate good. My friend has the ahi tuna and thought it was great. My only negative was that we felt rushed at the end of the meal. Instead of dessert, we had another cocktail. We both eat too fast so it wasn't like we were tying up the table for too long. That was the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

I have been wanting to try this place for years. Last week was the time to try it. The service is definitely excellent as is the bread, but the Interior is dated. The food which is the main thing for me was OK, but really average for an upscale Italian restaurant. Having said that though, the presentation of the TUSCAN BEAN SOUP with osso bucco broth was excellent, but the soup itself fell a bit flat as far as flavor is concerned. The PAN SEARED WILD SALMON was very good, but the scampi risotto was a little over done and the pomodoro sauce reminded me more of a marinara sauce. The HOUSE MADE TIRAMISU was OK like so many other Tiramisus I have had, but the chocolate truffle on the other hand was a good touch. The food was good, but not fabulous - really just average for an upscale Italian restaurant.

We went there for a birthday celebration. This was our second time here in a few years and we considered this a "special occasion" restaurant. Right from entering the restaurant, you can tell this is a high end place. They greet you immediately and we had reservations and they seated us immediately. There is valet parking that we used. A pianist was playing soft music. The decor is very nice. Wooden beams and all. you A server immediately brought out the bread tray with a variety of fresh baked breads. They were quite good. They also brought out a baked garlic and some oil. Very nice. Here is where things could be better. Our server was very attentive. Too much so. At multiple times we felt rushed. I don't believe he was trying to rush us, but his attention felt that way. "Are you ready to order the wine"?, " are you ready to order the appetizers"?, "Are you ready for food"? Buddy, give us a moment! We don't have anywhere to go after this!! We ordered some appetizers (bruchetta and capresia) which were just ok. We ordered a couple of glasses of bubbly to start. Champagne was not available by the glass so we ordered the presecco. We ordered a bottle of red wine to accompany the food. One of us ordered the braised short rib which was excellent. So was the stuffed chicken dish. However my duck breast was unedible. Very chewy and terrible. My wife's mushroom dish had no salt. Like NO salt. I don't think I've ever seen her request a salt shaker at a restaurant. Desert was good. They even asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and brought a small dessert for us. All in all, a good experience that would have been great if the two miss dishes were hits. Would have expected better from this restaurant. Hope they can fix the most basic thing a restaurant should get right-the food.

The crab cake is so different and not what I expected but it was delicious and light. I also had the osso bucco ravioli which are to die for. You can definitely tell the pasta is homemade and fresh. Will definitely be going back. Specialty drinks are delicious as well!

My staff and I had a delectable dining experience at Sorrento's. Their business lunch menu also features a NY strip steak that incredibly delicious for $24.00 plus appetizer and dessert. The salmon on HRW was amazing but the mushroom ravioli appetizer was simply out of this world. We will come back.

Just had a delightful dinner with my sister and friend. The food was delicious, but equally as important was that every single person working there acted as if we were the most important people to walk in the door that tonight. The hostess checked with us several times to make sure we were enjoying ourselves, the waiter was so warm and helpful and funny, and brought us a complimentary dessert, the bread steward and bus boy were friendly and helpful. We had the scallops and snapper and both plates were delicious. They brought roasted garlic to go on the bread selection before dinner, and before our dinner arrived they brought us a delicious antipasti plate with cheese, fruit and olives to enjoy. All in all I it was one of the most memorable meals we have had in many a month and can't wait to come back on our next visit to Houston.

We went to this restaurant for a special birthday celebration. The ambience is amazing, the decor very tasteful and well designed and I have to say almost authentic Italian. We were blown away by the excellence of the service here by ALL of the staff, nothing was too much trouble even to the extent that I had ordered a bottle of wine at the high end of the price range and the waiter told me that he only had one other bottle and just in case we needed it he had put it to one side for me. Some might say that this was upsetting but I was under no obligation to purchase the second bottle it was a professional gesture by the wine waiter (I did buy the second bottle as it was such a good wine). The food was amazing all round. I took the taster menu which I can tell you was the best Italian food that I have tasted outside of Italy, it was really that good, I enjoyed every bite of every dish. The prices are a little high but worth every cent and I would recommend this restaurant for couples through to business meetings as is is such a versatile and adaptable setting. Thank you so much for looking after us so well

I have visited Sorrento several times now, and each meal has been outstanding. The atmosphere is elegant and old school, neither stuffy nor trendy. The service is impeccable, attentive without being intrusive. And the food? Fabulous. My friend and I had crabcakes and halibut on our most recent visit. Fresh, perfectly prepared and presented. It couldn't have been better. We topped it all off with tiramisu and cappuccino for a truly 5 star meal. We have eaten in great restaurants all around the world, and this continues to be one of our favorites.

We dine out a lot and its usually at the higher end restaurants. I can honestly say that the quality of the food and the above and beyond service makes Sorrento's one of Houston's finest Italian (or any other) food places to eat. I could go on and on about how great the food is...and it is but truly great food is everywhere. What makes this place stand out is the service, from the valets, the hostess', the managers that are ALWAYS there to give the "glad hand", the servers and even the bus staff. Fantastic...This place deserves to be way above the rating they have on TripAdvisor, at least in Houston's top 10.

Absolutely one of the finest establishments in Houston! From the food to the service to the wine selectin. You absolutely cannot go wrong.

Had dinner on Friday night and there were 3 couples. The bread tray was quite impressive and it was very good. I asked a couple of times for butter and by the time it arrived at the table I had pretty much already eaten the bread! I had an arugula salad to start which was good and for dinner I had mushroom ravioli which was very dry and not much taste. I had a bite of my date's seabass and it was terrible which he didn't enjoy either. Service was fine, atmosphere was nice but it was difficult to hear everyone at the table. Everything was just fair and there are too many restaurants in Houston so I don't think I will be back any time soon.

First time eating at Sorrento and went for lunch. I had their lasagna with salad and tiramisu for dessert, all from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. My friends had salmon and gelato. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The bread bowl choices were unique and fun to try different breads. Such a great cause supporting the food bank and trying new restaurants. Recommended!

Valet took our cars promptly. We were greeted and chose to sit at the bar for a cocktail. We asked for a table in the back corner with floor to ceiling windows and a street view. In my opinion the best seat in the house. We were brought menus and served a lovely selection of breads and roasted garlic. I chose a soup and the escargots. My buddy chose a soup and a salad. We selected a bottle of Italian wine and both the wine service and the wine were excellent. Creme brule for desert and cognac and a double espresso rounded out the afternoon. You can tell the creme brule was made with real vanilla bean, and it was doo creamy. Dined here many times. One of my Houston favorites. Abbas the owner makes you feel like you are a guest in his home.

We hosted a group of seven. They had one waiter and a helper for the table. They served the table and made sure that there were no issues. The food was great. We tried a few different dishes and they all were good. The risotto is well worth the trip.

Sorrento's is a wonderful Italian Restaurant on lower Westheiner. The place is lovely and charming and very comfortable. The food is excellent and they have great service. They were very accommodating with our order in what we asked them to prepare. We had a wonderful dinner and will go back soon.

Beautiful venue. Food and presentation excellent. Very attentive, kind service. Must have again. Enjoyed the pace of meal to encourage full experience.

After being warmly greeted upon entering, we were shown our table and were then offer an assortment of breads and some roasted garlic. Don't pass up the bread with anchovies and cheese, it is tasty! Our very gracious host, Sergio, took our order for cocktails and delivered a delicious Negroni. Our hostess chose a variety of appetizers and the calamari was perfectly prepared along with the other selections. So many options for entrees and our large group chose an assortment. I had the short ribs, which were great. The fish was raved about by others. Dessert was decadent! A wonderful evening was had by all.

The Chef's Tasting Menu was over the top delicious. You must order the wine pairing for the full experience. It's as European as Europe. This was my first, but definitely not last, time here.

Had dinner at Sorrento last night. I love this place-- great food and a quiet atmosphere where you can actually hear what your dinner companions are saying without having to read lips. We had a lovely table in front of the fireplace. We dined to live piano music that added just the right feel. The food was true Italian and done very well. This place in a little bit like stepping back in time but in a very good way.

Very classy - even a piano bar! Great food starting with the best assortment of bread I've ever seen. We've always had good service. A bit pricey but worth it!

We celebrated a friend's 25th birthday here so i reserved a table for 6 of us. They were nice enough to provide us a nice table in a private room. I told them that we needed a cake, so at the end of our dinner they gave my friend her cute bday cake while the pianist played the bday song and all the servers sang a bday song. The food was really good and the server explained everything clearly. We stayed in the restaurant until almost 11 and the restaurant was nice enough to keep it open for us and patiently waited until we left! It was awesome

I requested my food w no garlic, onion, butter in it. My sea bass came with fine chopped garlic all over the spinach and on grilled sea bass. Instead, the waiter argued about the present of the garlic, until my boyfriend who have tasted my food validated my complaint. The remade order actually had two halves of whole onion on each side of the dish!! Another friend tasted it to validate it. The waiter commented that was not garlic but a small onion. I asked to take it away but he sent it back again! Not to making a scene, I ate a little of it under the watch of 3 other friends who have already finished theirs!

If you are looking for authentic Italian, fresh fish, amazing specials, fantastic wine selection and the best breads and appetizers, then this is the place to check out in Midtown. Prices are good, service is fantastic! Very attentive. Nice ambiance.

EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! What a great find! Had dinner Sunday evening (which, as you all must know Sunday evenings at restaurants can be dicey!). The service was impeccable - ALL the staff warm and welcoming the minute we walked in the door. The service was the best we have had in a very long time. The FOOD.....where to begin. We had the roasted garlic bulb with an offering of incredible breads, the basket so big it was almost the size of a serving tray. We ordered the Lobster Bisque, Fois Gras, Escargot and Beet Salad - just all wonderfully prepared. Additionally I am gluten-intolerant and the server went to the chef and insured anything I would order was prepared perfectly GFREE for me! What a treat. For dinner we had the Sea Bass special; goat cheese stuffed lambchops; and the lobster tortellini. Everything was generously portioned and masterfully cooked. Took an order of veal meatballs and spaghetti home - which they packed with a great variety of that wonderful bread along with a whole roasted garlic and the olive oil/pesto dipping sauce. We could not have had a better meal and will return! By the way, the atmosphere was lovely - piano playing softly in background - wonderful Italian décor - was I in Rome???? Don't miss it - you will love this place - and where is the Houston Chronicle on reviewing it anyway?

I chose the lunch special, linguine with shrimp and lump crab in a garlic and olive oil based sauce. It was delicious, light and balanced. I intend to come back for dinner and/or brunch one day and enjoy the live pianist. I would have gladly paid twice as much for this experience, but I'm pleased that I didnt need to. Enjoy.

Hubby took me here for Valentine's Day, and it was a lovely experience. We had the 3- course tasting menu, which was served at a leisurely pace. Favorite choices were the minestrone with lentils and the pressed chicken entree. The little chocolate souffle was outstanding. Wonderful bread selection, too. Good service, and the red rose for each lady was a nice touch. Enjoyed it all.

We were looking for an Italian restaurant that would please 4 adults and a 9yo and we found it in Sorrento! I made reservations through OpenTable the morning of which was a Sunday. No problems getting the time I wanted and they called and confirmed within the hour. We were running a bit behind so I called to let them know that 3 of 5 would be a little late they said not to worry. We arrived and were greeted by the valet and upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by the host. Our guests were already seated at a round table that was across from the service bar and kind of in between the main dining room and the atrium. Had our guests not been there I would have asked to be moved as it wasn't a great location being across from the service bar and it was quite drafty. Our server approached the table immediately to greet and take our drink order. A gentleman with a large breadbasket appeared and offered us a variety of fresh choices. My son was thrilled! Our waiter returned and shared the specials menu he returned shortly after and took our orders. Three of us ordered off the specials menu, Veal chop, Osso Buco and Braised Beef Short Rib. The lasagna was ordered by the 4th adult. My son had the gnocchi with a palomina sauce. I had originally planned on ordering something else for my son but our server steered me differently because of the spice of the sauce. My son loved his gnocchi and cleaned his plate! All of our entrees were wonderful. My husband and I started with the Caesar which we split. Splitting was the perfect size however it was rather bland. We ordered desserts as well which were delicious. The entrees were wonderful and priced right. The drinks in my opinion were rather high... Titos' vodka $10/ea., Seagrams 7 $10/ea., Remy VSOP $15/ea., They weren't stiff drinks so we weren't paying for the extra pour. Really the alcohol pricing and our table location were my only negatives. Oh, it was rather loud which made it difficult to hear our guests. I think it was just the acoustics of the building as the restaurant was busy but not packed. They did have a piano player for entertainment who was quite good. We will definitely return on our next visit to Houston. You know you've found a great place when you're 9 yo son says he wants to go back!

Once again held a special dinner for close friends at this gem of a restaurant in Houston. Fantastic, attentive service topped off by chefs selection of appetizers that included the most delicious seared scallops any of us has ever had followed by a large homemade ravioli stuffed with a poached egg and topped by prosciutto ! The whole table was moaning and groaning with delight and I am not exaggerating! The table then had the short rib, branzino, Chilean sea bass and the best linguini pescatore ever tasted with clams, mussels, calamari, salmon, shrimp among others. Add the ambience, the piano music, the desserts, breads and so on and another holiday memory made!

A couple of years ago, we fell in love with Sorrento, Italy. Sorrento Italian Restaurante bring back the ambiance of being in Italy while in the city of Houston. The food was superb and the waitstaff was attentive. The soft piano in the background was a nice touch without being too much. We have added this to the top of favorite restaurants in Houston. Also they have an amazing wine list!!

Excellent service and food. My son and I had a late lunch early dinner here and it was a great experience. We started with the roasted garlic that they give with an amazing selection of bread. We both had a seafood pasta dish and wrapped up with a house made tiramisu. It was such a great way to spend our last night in Houston.

While the setting and service are very nice of the three main courses our group had two very poor and the third was just average at best. I had the three course business lunch, at $25 a reasonable price at this restaurant, which offered soup or salad to start . I had the soup which was fine but nothing special. For my main course I opted for the ravioli which while enough for two was soggy and rather tasteless. Of the three courses only the desert was above average, a very tiny but good souffle. One of our party had badly overcooked salmon while the other had a large pasta dish that was also owner done. This is an attractive restaurant with fine service but the three of us spent roughly $100 for a meal that was frankly not good. It's nice that the tea glasses were kept full and that the bread was good but other than a nice conversation spot I certainly can't recommend this restaurant. On top of the cost of the meal I should note they have valet parking though at lunch you can avoid that but parking on the side street.

Sorrento's is by far our favorite Italian Restaurant in Houston. It has a small intimate atmosphere, yet flexible enough to provide private areas for a variety of functions. The food is fantastic, they have a great burata salad, their homemade lasagna is my go to dish there, but there is nothing there that disappoints. We are there at least every couple of weeks for dinner! I highly recommend it for a great Italian meal.

Very surprised at the small crowd. Nice lunch menu with plenty of choices in all the good groups. Considering beautiful presentation and abundant quantity, meals priced fairly. Veal pic cat was moist and flavorful. Lobster bisque had loads of lobster. Spumoni ice gelato tasty and served with fruit. Overall, good experience, my second here. Wasn't disappointed!

Last night, the wife and I dined at Sorrento for the first time as a couple; I've been there several times for work related meals, and had never been quite as impressed. But, at 4 pm yesterday, I decided that we needed to go out on a "date", and I was pleasantly surprised that I could make a reservation at that point for 7 pm that same evening. A good sign, certainly. We arrived a few minutes early, promptly seated with an excellent view of the evening's proceedings. Nice assortment of breads from which to choose, and an excellent wine menu from which we found a superb Rosso di Montalcino. Our waiter was tremendously knowledgeable about the menu, the food, and Italy, which we always enjoyed. Our salads were excellent mix of arugala, figs, gorgonzola dolce, etc. Great set of flavors and textures. I had an herbed tuna over risotto, and the wife had the grilled scallops. Both dishes were treats for both the eye and the mouth, and we certainly enjoyed every morsel. Finally, she had biscotti with coffee and I treated myself with creme brulee. Somehow we finished the whole bottle of wine, an unusual event for us, and just sat and enjoyed the live piano music, beautiful surroundings, and each other!

We came here with two other couples and the food was good and very nice service. I’d highly recommend the arugula / fig salad, sea bass, and don’t pass up dessert and get the cinnamon spiked apple tart.

We were celebrating a milestone birthday and were placed in one of the restaurant's private rooms -- a perfect locale for our group of five, set off from the main dining room amid the amazing wine collection. We enjoyed a bottle of Barolo with our meal. Each course provided morsels of culinary excellence that surpassed what we had eaten before. Flavors and presentation were superb. Food quantity was bountiful, yet somehow we completed each course as it was brought to us, never getting that uncomfortable "over-full" feeling that can accompany a big meal. The waitstaff was attentive and courteous, as well as fully knowledgeable about all menu items. For me, dessert topped off the meal in a way I had never experienced -- best dessert EVER. As a chocoholic, I'm particular about my chocolate and how it's served/what accompanies it. Sorrento's Grand Marnier and Chocolate Souffle' with Dark Chocolate Sauce was like visiting chocolate heaven. It married the very best of dark chocolate without the cloying sweetness that can often be inserted into chocolate desserts. My mouth still waters at the memory of it. Best of all was what a wonderful setting the restaurant provided for our special celebration. It was a stupendous meal and perfect in every way.

Stopped there after church on Sunday. They have a great Sunday special. Would definitely consider going back.

Last evening we happened by chance upon Sorrento when our usual favourite was booked up. What an absolute treasure. Impeccable service, very well orchestrated. We had the pleasure of having Anthony as our waiter and his recommendations did not fail us. My husband had the duck ravioli topped with foie gras and a wild mushroom glace that he defined as out of this world. My butternut squash soup with almond cream was equally divine. After our entrees, we didn't think we could possibly eat another bite, but Anthony suggested sharing the Orange Confit Preserve Panna Cotta with Fresh Vanilla Bean Raspberry Sauce. Ooohlala!! Outstanding! All the dishes were fresh, homemade and with bright flavours and surprises such as lemon zest. The bread service offered 6-7 selections and the herb/oil mixture served with roasted garlic was tantalizing, especially with the addition of spicy oil on one side of the plate. We cannot wait to go back!

I returned reluctantly to Sorrento for brunch with friends this weekend. I say reluctantly because the first time I went for dinner a while back was not good either. We began with a mushroom rizzoto with truffles that they prepared in a large Parmesan cheese. Other than the mixing show, the rizzoto was nothing special. My wife and I had the Crab Eggs Benedict from the brunch menu. Splitting the dish cost $7. The crab cake was terrible. Bland, with almost no crab and tasteless. The best part of the dish were the side beans, yes the beans. My friends had a similar experience with their dishes. I must say that the service and the music were very good. The experience was quite expensive. $200 for 4 people brunch with minimal alcohol. In summary, not worth it at all

It was our first time here. My hubby chose this place for our 5th year anniversary. The service was exceptional-the staff works as a team. Our server Edgar was amazing. He has a great sense of humor and a lovely personality-he made our evening special. We will be going back soon. They had a pianist playing live and the atmosphere was just perfect for our night out. Parking is a little challenging in the area however they do have valet parking. We parallel parked two streets away and walked there. I recommend Sorrento for couples and big groups too.

In this restaurant looks like staying in a house in Italy, in a family. I really enjoyed both the moon and the friendly and professional staff. Food was prime quality and the recipes quite the same than the original you find it Italy.

Really enjoyed the day there. Celebrated my moms birthday. Will echo others, regardless if you are a regular or you're a first timer, you are treated like a celebrity. From the valet parking to the hostess to our waitress, we were made to feel like VIPs of this place. This is my 6th or 7th visit to the restaurant. The interior was decorated warmly for the Christmas season, and the lady that played the piano was wonderful, really giving it an upbeat and cheery feel inside. Our waitress was well groomed, polite, friendly and knew the menu forwards and backwards. She was always attentive without being overbearing. The two young men that serve water and bread are professional and friendly as well. Really makes for a pleasant dining experience. The menu is vast and because it was Sunday, we took advantage of the 3 course special. This is a fantastic value and you will definitely not leave there hungry. The food was good, but not great. The Sea Bass may have been around a little too long, and the spinach was slightly over seasoned. The other dishes, the Chicken Rollatini and Osso Bucco Ravioli were spot on and very tasty. The outstanding service will make up for the slightly off food. Don't get me wrong, it wasnt bad, just a little disappointing because everything else is so top notch here. maybe the chef was having an off day. We will definitely visit this place again.

I have had lunch here many times and the food and service are always excellent. The Chef's Lunch Tasting is a good value and the wine list has all price points represented. If you are looking for a good lunch spot close to town, this is it.

In the heart of Houston’s iMontrose Area, Sorrento is still one of the best Italian dining experiences you can have in Houston, which is saying a lot. Last week I had a business lunch there and it was spectacular! The atmosphere was intimate enough to have confidential conversation with my clients, but busy enough to still be interesting. Every meal starts off with fresh broiled garlic and olive oil, Accompanied by what ever bread you might choose from their large array in a huge basket that the waiters frequently offer. I love the flat bread and rustic whole wheat, but my guess preferred the breadsticks and flatbreads. The pasta was absolutely perfect, as was the salmon. Don’t be hesitant to ask for preparation just the way you want it— Sorrento’s aims to please. The prices for lunch are better than dinner prices, but the atmosphere makes you feel as though you are in an Italian Villa rather than the heart of Montrose. In other words, the prices are worth it for the quality and atmosphere Sorrento‘s delivers!! At night you can always find several of Houston’s movers and shakers who stop by after a long day of dealmaking.

We had not seen each other in a number of years. We wanted to dine for lunch and catch up. We looked for the perfect place. We found it! Sorrento’s in Midtown Houston. Sergio seated us. We were taken under superb attentiveness— not rushed, no snobbery, timely service with helpful suggestions. Calamari, house wine, assorted breads, wonderful salads, special of the day, classic dishes, and outstanding desserts including gelato could not be better. The ambience, spacious privacy, helpful valet made for a perfect time together. Ready for a return visit!

Our 6:30 reservation for four on a Saturday evening was promptly honored. Drink orders taken, we had time to visit before the menus arrived. The staff was helpful, but not pushy, and accommodated one guest's special request for his main course. We did not feel rushed during our meal at this elegant restaurant, even though we stayed nearly two and a half hours. (We WERE dining the majority of the time, not simply hogging a table.) Starters: beef carpaccio (the best I have had since my first encounter two decades ago), beet & orange salad, caprese salad Mains: lobster tortelloni, duck, veal scallopini, angel hair pasta with fruits de mer Desserts: fresh berries & cream, sorbet with berries, creme brulee with berries, chocolate cannelloni (super rich, but not to be missed) [See online menu for complete descriptions.] There are a few reasonably priced wines, but the majority...let's just say that management is real proud of its wine list. Lovely live piano music, except for the seven times the poor man had to play "Happy Birthday". This is, after all, a prime special-occasion restaurant. My one complaint -- which applies to too many restaurants in Houston -- is the valet-only parking. The entire parking lot was blocked, even the spaces in front of an empty storefront. IMHO, valet parking should come into play AFTER the close spaces are full. The valets should be the ones to find another lot or an on-street space. Why should we turn our vehicle over to a valet to park it at the restaurants's front door? Of course, those of us who don't let others drive our cars are out of luck. As you can tell, this left a bitter taste. Luckily, the food made up for it.

5 of us . . . all entrees perfect. Appetizers as well excellent. Excellent service. Wine a bit pricey. Not an inexpensive evening (maybe $65 or so per person) but if you are looking for upscale Italian this works

Took two of my best fiends here at the spur of the moment. We orders the dinner specials, mushroom ravioli, the oso bucco, and house lasagna. Was perfect. What's even better... Not nearly as crowded or noisy as the more well-known chain located on Kirby. Not that we don't like their food, but it's nice to hear oneself think and actually converse during dinner. Sorrento has nice ambience, even a pianist from time to time. Definitely will be going here more often.

Great atmosphere and wonderful dining experience. The waiters allow you a nice relaxing dinner. Fresh pasta with nice fragrant light sauces. Fresh bread with olive oil and creative appetizers. We had escargot which were perfect and the scallop shrimp and prosciutto appetizer. Pasta for dinner.

This restaurant is charming with a lovely bar and piano player and fires in the fireplaces. The service is attentive. The salads and soups were delicious. The wine selections were also worthy. However, I am sad to report that I and two other guests in my party were disappointed in our mains and left them largely uneaten. With so many great restaurants in Houston, I will not be rushing back to Sorrento.

Recently had a business lunch meeting here. They have a private room open just for asking. However.....this place has probably the best Italian food on the planet. Menu is varied and from the range of orders from my group everything looked great. Great service! Control yourself on the offered bread basket. It’s all delicious but filling.

This is still a very romantic place with a Piano player and great service... They start with a huge basket of mix breads... The menu has a great selection of items that they will alter to fit your needs... 3 of us had Fish and it was very good and I also had their risotto which I liked... Also have brunch on Sunday that is with a menu... I do find this place very romantic and fun for special occasion ,, anniversary, birthday ,being a couple. Real Italian Food...

Friday night was our first return to Sorrento’s in a couple of years and, Oh My! Why have we waited so long to re-experience such a fine establishment? The service was just right, the food was all amazing and the soothing live piano music made the evening. My Chilean Sea Bass was perfect and each of our group asked for a little variation to the menu offering which they accommodated without hesitation. This was such a pleasant dinner out with friends. We won’t wait so long to return again.

This restaurant supersedes all experiences I've had dining at Italian restaurants. The service is excellent. I'm nobody, but I feel like a somebody when I dine here. The food is just delicious!! From the assortments of breads that come with roasted garlic and olive oil, to the entrees like stuffed lamb chops and short ribs - all excellent! I've visited for both late lunch and dinner - both experiences have been excellent.

Sorrento Restorante Italiano for Mothers Day Brunch was very disappointing. Reservation were made on Open Table for 12noon (3ppl), we arrived 5minutes early fully expecting it to be busy and would need to wait a few minutes, almost 30 minutes later we were sat. The waiter approached the table quickly and presented menus, they dropped a plate of bulb garlic and oil, waiter took our order. While we waited for our appetizer and soup, we picked at the garlic, we thought it would be nice if they served bread with it, but first time here so didn't know. We ask 2 different time for wine, finally had to get up and yell at the hostess to get some service. AFTER appetizers and soup someone came by and offered us bread. Would have been nice 45 mins earlier. He went to put the bread down but know bread plates, I also ask about our drinks AGAIN and why we had no water as it was standard to put it on the tables as we noted from the other tables. Main course arrived, 3 entrees and they bought the wrong entree I ordered, waiter put it in wrong. The owner I found out later was walking by our table and heard me say this wasn't what I ordered. He took the wrong entree and they had me the correct one within 5mins. Bottom line, Mothers Day happens ones a year, you want it to be right. This was one issue after another. Food was Good, the place seemed very nice inside, it seemed all they were interested in doing today was "burn and turn" get as many covers in and out. I told the Mgr. Trey Brezina that if he can't handle the volume then why try to over book it. All about $$$$ and not customer service on days like this. To many choices in Houston. Doubtful I would return. Very Frustrating!!!

Recently visited this Houston gourmet restaurant and found it to be an outstanding choice. Their menu is very Italian with each menu choice being superbly done. We ordered their escargot and beef carpaccio for appetizers which were exceptional. I ordered a special of the evening which was a tomahawk bone in ribeye which was enormous and enormously tasteful and perfectly cooked. We also ordered their filet which was very good as well. They have a piano player that has a great array of classic songs that flow through the evening very nicely. Our waiter, Massino was so informed and aware of each item on the menu and gracefully described each in detail in a way that makes a person want to order 2 or 3 entrees but we selected the above. To end the evening, we had their chocolate souflee which was decadent. We will be back to this restaurant in the future. Also have nice valet parking. Don't forget to ask to dine with Massino as he is very knowledgeable on all things on their menu..and from Italy.

Nice place for good tasting food. I had the squash almond soup which was great and short rib that did melt in my mouth. Low lighting can make it a date night. Good options on less expensive to (12 dollars glass) very expensive wine.

It was so nice to be at Sorrento after months of lock down. The wait staff were so happy to be opened also. The piano man was also back. It seemed like the life was back to normal for a few hours while we enjoyed their excellent food. My husband said Veal Medallions with Risotto was delicious. My snapper was perfect as usual. Love this place!

We had Brunch here yesterday, our 1st visit as recommended by friends. Great choice for Pre Theatre Matinee in Downtown Houston. Arrived at 11AM and immediately greeted by polite friendly faces. We had reservations for our table for 4 adults. Excellent waiter, Anthony who explained the menu and daily specialities. Wonderful complimentary bread basket servings were brought to us promptly. Mimosas, Bellini's etc. offered at Brunch along with a wine list and wines by the glass. Food was delicious, warm when served and all quite tasty. I had the Migas which was recommended by our waiter. Served with a side of breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit. Would gladly go there again. Piano player started at 12N, just added to the already warm ambiance. Excellent way to spend a Sunday for Brunch.

The server was extremely helpful, and had a great attitude she was there to make it more than perfect. The food was wonderful and the ambiance very cozy

We had a business meeting during lunch hours and they gave us the wine room for us. A perfectly cozy room for 7 of us. As always, their service was impeccable and food delicious. Tomato soup was excellent and the toasted corn kernel added a delicious touch. The butter nut squash ravioli was almost a desert, so yummy. Everyone loved Salmon. I love this place and always love to come back.

Great food and service. Awesome date night atmosphere with the piano player. The food is wonderful but very rich and filling. Prices a on the high end.

The three of us went to Sorrento for Sunday brunch and we had veal medallions with risotto and green beans ,my wife had the foie gras and my daughter had veal limone. All were superb. This is one ofthe best places in Houston. Try to sit at a table where Sergio is since he is really helpful.

If you think the bread is good (usually 6 unique types to choose from) that is just the start on some of the best food you will enjoy. The lobster ravioli was over the top. Can't say enough about this place except the parking options are terrible. Don't let that detract you.

Sorrento's is a gem on Westheimer. In a small strip center, its excellence is found from the minute you walk in the door. Personal and calm, it's a perfect place for friends, couples and sophisticated diners. The service was excellent, not rushed and very accommodating. The food was outstanding. Perfectly prepared even with special requests, substitutions and arrangements. You won't waste your time here or your money. Enjoy!

Celebrated a special birthday with six of us in the wine room, and have to say from start to finish, it was a fantastic, memorable and most of all delicious experience. We asked for appetizers for the table, and were brought the most delicious combination of calamari and shrimp with remoulade and marinara, along with bruschetta. Next we all had the lobster bisque. While the soup was over the top delish, my lobster meat was a little dry, but no demerits as everyone else was raving about it. Need to mention the bread tray has so incredibly many choices and flavors. I had the anchovy infused bread which was just sinful. So was wanting something hearty thus I ordered the gnocchi with grilled shrimp.....OMG. So amazingly simple yet delicious. Others had the branzino which was just fantastic, the sea bass, the scallops and the veal medallions which honestly were two tenderloins fit for two people. Love the ambiance, love the throw back piano player, and love the incredible service of this special place

You typically won't find Sorrento on the best restaurant lists probably because it's not new and happening. It's an elegant upscale Italian restaurant that stands the test of time with great food and service. I had the business lunch today with a savory lobster bisque followed by seared tuna with risotto. Perfect and a bargain for $24 with a dessert. Even the bread service is the best in Houston. I go for quiet business lunches where you can hear each other and social dinners. Definitely appropriate for occasions, too.

We love Sorrento for lunch and dinner, today was lunch. Deliciout cocktails, beautifully served by Sergio, one of their senior waiters. Chicken rollatini stuffed with goat cheese...fantastic. WIld mushroom ravioli in a butter sauce...delicate and perfect. Tiramisu prepared just right. All in all, lovely room, wonderful food, terrific service, want to go very soon again!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Sorrento tonight and couldn’t have been more delighted with the experience. We started with a blue crab cake on polenta with a garlic cream sauce. From there we enjoyed wild mushroom ravioli with sage butter sauce, and finished with scallops and risotto and snapper and risotto. Each dish was beautifully served and and timed, and the sauces were fragrant and rich, without being over-powering. Raul, our server, was very attentive and helpful. This was our fourth visit to Sorrento and is and will remain our go-to venue for special occasions. We love the cuisine, the live piano entertainment, and the warm, classy atmosphere. While it is not inexpensive, it is worth it, particularly for special occasions.

Sorrento's is our favorite restaurant in Houston. A great menu with many things to choose from. Two of my favorites are the Homemade Ravioli in a butter sage sauce and of course the sea bass. You won't be disappointed. There is live piano music. The staff and service are wonderful.

The restaurant is lovely inside. Service was top notch. Piano music added a nice vibe. We always seem to be a little let down at these expensive restaurants when the entree's arrive. We had a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that complimented the meal. The bread basket brought out had a nice array of choices. My husband loves crab cake but was warned that their recipe is made different. We actually appreciated the honesty and was able to adjust expectations. He decided to try it and actually really liked it. So give it a try but ask how it is prepared so you are not surprised. We also ordered escargot and my 20 yr. old actually loved them. She said the butter/garlic/pesto sauce was great. I do not eat seafood so I had the arugula/ fig salad. Highly recommend. It was delicious. Now on to the entrees. We ordered the lamb chops (husband said they were bland), my daughter ordered seafood tortellini (she only ate a little bit of it because it did not taste good to her) and I ordered the steak. It was tender and cooked perfectly and had a nice peppercorn sauce. I cant complain but for the price--it just was not really flavorful or impressive. Side of potatoes were ok. We got a chocolate dessert that was fine but nothing awesome either. Beautiful presentation though. I cannot say the meal was not good but for more than $300 for 3 people--we did not walk away wanting to come back which is a shame because the restaurant and service is really nice.

Just left Sorrento and had an excellent experience. Our waiter, Stephen, was quite knowledgeable and provided great service. The food was well-prepared and flavorful. The egg ravioli with truffle was amazing. All-in-all, it's a great spot for a nice night out.

This is an old Houston favorite. Traditional Italian menu with great prices. Excellent piano player. Great ambience.

I have been to Sorrentos several times post pandemic, and it is superb. I have brought my brother here, who is very picky about his food (we were raised in an italian family), and he loved the lasagna even though its was an unconventional presentation. I have tried multiple menu items here and never been disappointed: lasagna, osso bucco, ravioli, desserts. The service is the best in Houston -- very attentive without being suffocating. Very prompt valet parking. Beautiful surroundings. You cannot go wrong!!!

We live in The Woodlands and only drive into Houston occasionally for a change of pace and to explore new dining options. We met another couple at Sorrento on their recommendation, and we couldn't have had a better experience for a dinner out. The menu selections were outstanding - we had trouble deciding because everything sounded so good. We ordered Rombauer chardonnay (our favorite), which is an indicator of a very ample wine list. We selected the beef Carpaccio appetizer, which was perfect, and a wild mushroom risotto appetizer prepared tableside in a big wheel of Grana Padana cheese, which was a unique preparation experience. Among the entrée selections we tried were the wild mushroom and sage raviolo with creminis and white truffle oil, and an off the menu special - a grilled veal chop. The side orders complemented the entrees well, and for dessert we shared a perfect chocolate soufflé. The restaurant is located in a small strip center, so at first you are not sure what to expect. After walking through the door, we felt as if we had been transported to a bistro in Italy. The décor is charming and the space is rather close quartered in the foyer and bar area. The dining room is more open and very comfortable. This was a Saturday night, and there was a pianist playing lovely dinner-appropriate music; not too loud and it added to the overall enjoyment of the evening. The service was very attentive, but not overbearing. The cost including wine, appetizers, dessert and a well deserved 20% gratuity was about $140 per person. I highly recommend Sorrento Ristorante Italiano - really outstanding.

Great service (always personal interaction with the manager), and amazing food. This is a favorite for special occasions or just a night out.

Joined friends for lunch on a work day for my first visit to Sorrento Italiano. First positive was that the restaurant was not noisy -- a rarity in Houston. We were all pleased with our lunch specials. The house salad was tasty and crisp. I followed that with the chicken stuffed with goat cheese, which I found to be delicious. The finale was the chocolate soufflé served in a demitasse cup--delicious and just the right amount! Service was professional and attentive. This restaurant will become one of my "go-to" lunch spots. Will be giving it a try for dinner and Sunday brunch as well.

Every part of this experience was wonderful. From the moment we stepped into Sorrento we were treated and welcomed as long time friends, even on this being our first visit. We expected it to be a bit pricey, and it is, but if you can afford to go to 2 or 3 restaurants that you consider good, know and believe, we'd rather save our money and go to Sorrento once. Every part of the experience was exceptional, from the fine bottle of Barolo we chose, to the fabulous bread tray and garlic dipping plate, and Mediterranean salads to start. Our waiter, Jorge, true professional and just a joy to be around. Me, if spaghetti and meatballs are on the menu, I use this as my test, and Sorrento, with the hand made pasta, veal meatballs and wonderful sauce, WoW, exceeded all expectations. My wife had the Italian Sea Bass offered for the fish of the day, another WoW and exceeded expectations. For dessert, we wanted the chocolate soufflé, but a 25 minute wait, well we know for the next time to order at the beginning, so we went for the apple tart, and truly one of the best we've had. So the question we always ask ourselves, Would you go back? In a nanno second.

We had brunch at Sorrento this Sunday, it was lovely. Good food, good friends and mimosas! They have live, soft piano music, setting the relaxed ambience of the experience. The service was attentive but not rushed. It was a leisurely, very pleasant start to the day.

Love this Italian restaurant. Their bread, olive oil, & garlic service before the meal is amazing. So many choices. Their risotto appetizer prepared partially at table side on a wheel of Regiano Parmesana is awesome. A great Italian restaurant with a great Italian wine list.

My company took some clients here for dinner on a Monday night. Everything was outstanding. Highly recommend the salmon and the seafood far diablo. Service was impeccable as well. They put us in the private "wine Room" which was gorgeous. Would certainly go here again -one of the best Italian meals I've ever had!

We have heard great things about this restaurant and have been waiting for some time to dine here. The wait was well worth it indeed. Previously we had been on a trip to Italy and everything was so good we were hesitant to try any "upscale" Italian back home in fear that it wouldn't live up to the hype. To start, the restaurant is a nice size and has a good atmosphere. We were sat in the back room that is a bit enclosed and it was just right. The restaurant was very busy so we didn't expect super fast service, but they delivered perfectly on time. One thing we did notice is that everything is paced just right rather than just getting people in and out. We didn't feel rushed whatsoever and the waiter was very kind to explain all of the dishes we had questions about. Appetizers : We ordered both the egg ravioli and the crab cake. The ravioli was simply amazing. Pasta is definitely hand made daily as you can taste how fresh it is. Our crab cake was so nice and smooth on the palette with a delicious butter cream sauce. Main Course : I ordered the braised short rib and she the lasagna. Lasagna is something of an American-Italian dish however the one prepared here is a true throwback to Italian cuisine. Her dish was exactly as her Italian grandmother had made when she was a child. It was a true delight to have such a good tasting dish and the portions be quite perfect. My braised short rib had quite the profile having been reduced with red wine. The truffle oil mashed potatoes beneath were very good. I don't want to discount this dish in any manner, but it is like the best pot roast you have ever had in your life. Very tender, moist, and had just the right amount of glaze. Desserts : Tiramisu and Almond Cake. The tiramisu was exactly like we had it in several places in Italy. It's difficult to get the cake/wafer part just right and this dish was on the spot. No other words can really describe this dessert other than perfect. You must try it yourself. The almond cake was very good and just how we remembered it from Pienza on Magda's farm. I really liked the whipped cream topping that was whipped with coffee beans. It really cleansed the palette with a touch of sweet. Overall the portions of dessert were perfect. This was the best dining experience that I have had in a very long time. Especially here in the states. As we talked with the manager Trey, he reiterated that they take true Italian recipes and create an Americanized twist on classic dishes. We definitely will be coming back and we can't wait until their new steak house is open down the street. One extra note : I would recommend creating a reservation via OpenTable on their website. Sometimes with places like this you just can't get a table on a Fri/Sat night without a reservation. We walked right in and were sat at the table waiting for us.

If your looking for an dinner to open up your taste buds , this is the place to go. The service is above and beyond, treating all to the experince of fine food , wine and attentive staff. Our meal was delightful from homemade bread and baked garlic cloves and olive oil to dip every last crumb. The entre was so light and tasty. Dessert was the best ever tirimusu . Along with the live piano music this is a must restaurant to visit.

Visiting family in Houston. We went to the Sorrento's for a Sunday brunch. Our family member was greeted at the door by name and we were seated at her requested table. The service is friendly and helpful but not rushed. The atmosphere is elegant but not stuffy. Meal started with a wonderful bread tray, my wife enjoyed the mimosa's and I the coffee. We had the crab cake benedict and a fresh mushroom omelet both were very good. Enjoyed long conversation with family and never felt rushed. We hope to return in the future

The food and ambience was amazing at Sorrento. after a $800 bill my only issues were- the older Man waiter tonight was nice, but he was not really interested in taking care and serving my family. we just wanted regular water. We did not know that water for the table would cost $30, your restaurant should let us know in advance that they charge for still water! Really! first time in Texas I have paid for regular water and it just showed up on my bill without informing me. Lastly- my husband ordered just a glass of wine and the water left the full bottle on our table. We never said we will have the bottle. We were obliged that we will finish that bottle and then charged $95. We were kind of forced to take the whole bottle. basically there is a lot of of unspoken gestures in the restaurant by the waiters that you will pay for we paid $130 for things we did not even want!! And we were cheated to pay for water!

Seated 1 hour after reservation and then waited 15 or so minutes for a cocktail / wine request. Appetizers served by unknowing staff who asked "who ordered what"? Similar service at main course. A shame the food (actually quite good) could not offset the shoddy service. There are too many stores in Houston at this price point that care about customer service. Additionally, either the air conditioning was off or out of service so we got to sweat while waiting. Our 1st visit to this highly recommended store, and probably our last.

Because Mother's Day is usually chaotic in restaurants and this year our entire family was getting together at a home, my husband surprised me with dinner on the Thursday night before. He made the reservations and it was a complete surprise right up until we drove in front of Sorrento's. Neither of us had been there before, but I had read many reviews and couldn't wait to go! We were both impressed with Sorrento's from the moment we stepped in. I believe we got the best table in the place. A huge basket of bread varieties were brought around featuring sourdough, anchovy & cheese, breadsticks, among others. Our server was outstanding. Very personable and knowledgeable about the specials for the night as well as the menu. We started with Lobster Bisque (delicious and full of lobster). Husband ordered the Veal Osso Buco and I ordered the Veal Scaloppini Piccata - both so tender!! We finished with coffee and a shared dessert - the Double Chocolate Cake with Praline Sauce and Vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for romance. Piano music was played the entire time we were there. We plan to return!!!!!

We had a very nice quiet meal. Blood Orange Martinis and Risotta! Quiet and Romantic, perfect for couples!

For years, Sorrento has bern a Houston staple: consistently great food, excellent wine list, super service! The branzino is about the best you can get anywhere.

I reviewed the reviews from Zagat , Tripadvisor, Food and Wine , etc. This restaurant was under the radar but still top 5% ratings across the board and decided to give it a chance for our anniversary and have no regrets. It was a great night and we closed the joint after 3.5 hours. The wine selection was varied and can be expensive but there were some rare wines available. We ordered a bottle from Italy and champagne for the occasion. The waiter was fantastic and did a great job for us to enjoy the evening. He was from Rome, Italy so it made it much better. I ordered the Chef Table special- 4 course and it really was a good variation with the homemade ravioli as appetzer and the salad and the fish was excellent as well as the desert. I did confirm 2 hours before to make sure they were giving us a good quiet table and seemed they do not read the instructions for the appointments and initially they had us out front and center with the piano player and told them it was suppose to be secluded and they corrected the mistake after speaking up and did give us the corner away from everything. It was a great table and fun time after 25 years! It was restaurant week but did not select from that menu and there was no reason to attempt. I would recommend over Da Marco in Houston. Da Marco is too crowded with tables and Sorrento's has great spacing between tables and it is not noisy and relaxing. Bon Appettite!

We were here for our Valentine's day dinner.Sadly, they had a preset four course V day menu not a desirable option for a vegetarian like me.Only one veg option on the menu and the cost per person was 85$ not including the drinks. We were unaware that they would be serving only this menu today, no such information was provided on reservation.Again maybe it was the V day rush but it seemed we were just being hurried through the meals so that we could clear out for the next guests, not the most desirable way to celebrate the day.Dissapointed!!

This was a night out with customers Service was fantastic and the food unparalleled This restaurant also is very intimate and suitable for couples or small groups since they offer small rooms with a very relax ambiance The lady pianist played wonderfully Refrain to bring kids since you will not only disturb the other guest but ruin the moment I strongly recommend

This was our first visit and we were invited to join my nephew and his girlfriend who was a guest singer that night. I did read the review on tripadvisor before we arrived so needless to say I was impressed not only was the entertainment great but the entire staff was so amazing. Smiles everywhere. So many choices of breads to chose from. I recommend the Chilean Sea Bass, so delicious!!!!. They do have a special menu, a three course meal for about $35. It is fine dining so its an opportunity to get spruce up a bit. If a quiet dinner with a piano and great singers is what you are looking for, then this is the place.

Great italian food perfect for a date night! The atmosphere is romantic, they had live music and a well stocked bar with great service all around. What more could you ask for?!?

This is my favorite Italian Restaurant in Houston and it's not close! By far, the food, the service, the ambiance, the atmosphere, I mean everything is just perfect to me. I came here on a date last year and I was very impressed. I like neighborhood gems and this place is definitely one! They're not as popular as places like Maggiano's because they're not located in the Galleria area but you know, that's kinda the way I like it. It was quiet, comfortable, and romantic... a perfect date night if you would like to put a smile on a special lady's face! It was AWESOME!

Went here with friends last week and must say everything was awesome from service to the food and atmosphere we couldn’t ask for more!

We had been here years ago when it first opened. HRW gave us an incentive to try it again. There is valet parking in their lot and one across the side street, street parking is extremely limited because of neighborhood parking restrictions, so suck it up and pay for complimentary valet (but allow for a tip). We started with the signature cocktail, Gin T&T, which is a sage-infused simple syrup, vodka muddled with mandarin orange (or something like that) with a sage garnish. It was excellent. The bread basket is a thing of beauty with a delicious array of wonderful breads. I don't know if they bake them themselves, but they are definitely well done. We ordered a bottle of wine with dinner. All four of us selected from the HRW menu. The portions were very generous. We all started with the mushroom raviolo (which actually was two) which was delicious and very filling. For the entrees, two chose the filet, one had the sea bass and I opted for the butternut ravioli which had strips of perfectly cooked zucchini. My portion was so large I ended up taking some home. We finished up with the tiramisu—delicious. The food quality was good, portions were generous, and the staff didn't try to clear our plates before every person had completed their course for which they get bonus points. The only issue I had was that the service was a bit rushed at first. We had just gotten our cocktail when we were presented with the menus. And then our waiter returned after a very short interval to see whether we were ready to order. I mentioned that we were still relaxing and enjoying our cocktail and we finally got things slowed down to a good pace. I would go back. If you like very traditional, good quality Italian food, you will enjoy it.

We held an engagement party event at this wonderful restaurant last night and it was the most amazing and wonderful experience we've ever had at a restaurant. Everyone associated with this restaurant made sure that even the tiniest detail was attended to. Not only did they make this a once in a lifetime experience for the future bride and groom, and their families, but the food was great and the service was even better! We can't thank them enough for their service, food, attending to every request, and even staying late to accommodate our group on a Sunday night. Thank you to Trey, Sergio, Mr. Hussein and the entire wait staff for making this a wonderful experience!!

Sorrento exceeded expectations. It is definitely one the 3 best Italian restaurants in Houston. The bread tray had an assortment of about 5 or 6 different choices and it was my weakness. The Italian Sourdough was my favorite, but all were good. I had the Salmon lunch offering with the Cesar Salad and a Chocolate Expresso Souffle for dessert. . The preparation and presentation of all the food was wonderful. The service was absolutely tops. I tipped accordingly. I will definitely be going back. "

We had Sunday brunch here and it was excellent. Great menu choices, service was top notch and the food was delicious. I can't wait to have dinner here.

My husband and I visited Sorrento on a whim one evening. What serendipity! We were offered a variety of delectable breads to accompany roasted garlic and pesto before the meal. Our server, Alex, was so gracious and attentive that he made us feel like family. We followed his recommendations for the specials we ordered, and we were delighted with the results. After a burrata salad with heirloom tomatoes and figs, I had the veal chop, and my husband had linguini pescatore in a spicy white wine sauce. We finished with the panna cotta, which is one of the best desserts I've ever had! In addition to the delicious food and wine, a live pianist providing music made our evening that much more special. If you'd like a lovely evening to linger over impeccably prepared Italian fare with unsurpassable service, do not miss Sorrento!

Excellent food, great decor and superb wine list says it all. This is a fine Italian restaurant near mid-town. Parking is by valet. I had the lasagna with a fine Riesling My wife had the seafood linguini Proseco. Service was very good. Their breads assortment was to die for.
Outstanding brunch, service, & atmosphere
We had Sunday brunch here after not having visited this wonderful restaurant in a few years. It has always been excellent, but because it’s not in our immediate neighborhood, we had forgotten about how great it was. Our wait server was Sergio, and he was welcoming and attentive. Perhaps besides the excellent food and service was that we could visit with each other without having to shout. It was a most pleasant atmosphere with a wonderful pianist named Shirley tinkling the ivories with tunes you’d recognize. Their brunch menu has classic brunch dishes or you can order the special prefixed price at $35/person which includes a soup or salad, any entree from their regular menu, and a scrumptious dessert! Some of the regular entrees run in excess of $40 alone so this $35 prefixed price for the 3-course meal is fabulous, and you won’t be disappointed!
