Great Italian

By Mayson C |

We came here for my mothers birthday and everyone absolutely loved it. Some of the best Italian I've eaten stateside. Service and food were impeccable!

Excellent Italian food!

By Racerboy796 |

Reserved a table for dinner here tonight at sotto sotto and all five of us at our table absolutely loved it. We all had some sort of appetizer or smaller plate and a desert as well(mainly gelato and sorbeto). The dishes have excellent flavor and presentation. Staff was super friendly and professional. Highly recommended restaurant!!

Nice Saturday evening dinner.

This was my second trip to Sotto Sotto. Last time I had the whole fish which they will fillet for you table side. This time I had a nice pasta dish, salad and wine. We had good weather so we ate outside. I know that this is a favorite of a number of my friends.

never go back

By Tina B |

For weeks their computer confirmation program text us even for the last three days every day. Yes we will be there for 8pm. We did not get seated until 9pm. The wine by the glass selection was poor. The staff was great and friendly. The ceaser salad was tastless. They need to shave the parmasean cheese so you can see it. Add mustard or anything to make it stand out. The stuffed raviole was undercooked and under seasoned. It tasted as if it have been sitting out for days. Way to crowded ! You know you are too close when the table next to you peppers their food and some of it comes flying you way . I am not kidding.

Cozy and delicious

By GretaMatthews |

Great group dinner - delicious and homemade! Cozy place - can be a bit tight but it worked well for conversation. Waiter Albert was informative, energetic and passionate about his food recommendations. Ribeye and salmon were amazing!

Among tops 3 Italian spots in town

Great and creative menu with some twists on traditional Italian fare. Smaller wine list ; but has a lot of variety .Bean salad was amazing ( and I am a carnivore).

Wonderful Meal, best Halibut I've ever had!

By Cardine09 |

Celebrating a college graduation was our family's reason for heading to Atlanta and Sotto Sotto. From the moment we arrived the service, food and drink were exceptional. I had the Halibut, which was a large piece of beautifully prepared Halibut with a very light tomato sauce; fabulous. Several at our table had pasta dishes and all were pleased with their choices. I tried the lasagna which was yummy and the salads top notch. The champagne and wine choices were superb. Outstanding gelatos for dessert! Loved this place, can't wait to find a reason to return to Atlanta and Sotto Sotto!!

Eager to Return

By Ann B |

Finally had dinner at this highly rated restaurant and loved it. The tuna sashimi was superb, thinly sliced, fresh and delicious. The crass are salad was good but overdressed and my only disappointment of the meal - still good but didn't think I needed to request dressing on the side at this high caliber restaurant. The lasagnette bolognese entree was fabulous. Service was exceptional - probably the most professional I have experienced in Atlanta. We will definitely return - wish I lived in the neighborhood!

Pretty Good Italian for Atlanta

By robbyg346 |

Restaurant did not meet my expectations for what others had said, but it is still one of the best places for Italian in Atlanta. The vegetable risotto was delicious, would definitely get it again. Worst part was that I called the restaurant a few hours before to move reservation back a little and they lost it even though they had called to confirm and I had made it months earlier. Luckily they had an open table for that time, but was a bit ridiculous for a high-end restaurant.

Best kept secret

Wow what a great evening!! The food surpassed all expectations. Our waitress Giovanna and the Executive Chef Maximo were awesome Best service Best atmosphere

You can’t go wrong with this delicious Italian

By PappaTango |

The lasagne, the duck pasta dish, the spinach gnocchi.......it’s all so good. A very nice restaurant for either a special occasion, business meal or just an evening out for some great food. Our waiter recently was very passionate about wine and we had a great evening with friends trying lots of different wines. Food is fantastic and we found the service to be excellent aswell. I’m a regular at Italian restaurants and this is an excellent one.

Nice Restaurant in trendy Hilan-Virginia Area

By Daniel G |

We joined friends for dinner at this Italian restaurant. It has an extensive Italian menu with pastas, appetisers, desserts, etc. Service was very nice and friendly and fairly quick. Good drinks and good wine list. There is valet parking around the corner and there is a pizza joint with outdoor dining belonging to the same owner right next door. Prices are very reasonable. We started with a salada mista which was fresh and delicious. We all had pasta dishes and they were a little disappointing. My dish had bits of ham in it that were flavorful but a bit hard and chewy. The pasta itself was overbaked and consequently dry. My wife had two appetiser-size dishes and they were nearly as large as the regular size. Her Linguine alla Vongole was just so-so. Maybe their fish and veal dishes are better. We shared 4 flavors of home made gelati for desert and they were excellent, especially the pistachio. We visited on a Tuesday night and the restaurant wasn't too full and not too noisy so we could talk without shouting.

Overpriced Disappointing Food

By MiteshP |

The restaurant is intimate, with a nice setting. They have outdoor seating in the rear of the restaurant. They have limited valet parking in the rear, but you can find parking on the streets surrounding it. The hostess and waiter were matter-of-fact, not really warm or friendly. There were limited vegetarian items on the menu, but they can porbably make items on request. The complimenary bread and olive oil was extremely subpar for a restaurant of this supposed caliber. We had the Tagliatelle ai Funghi, the Ravioli Nudi, and the Cappellacci di Zucca (all $18 each) with portions on the smaller side. The Tagliatelle was the best dish we had, but it was mediocre at that (even the WIld Mushroom Strozzapreti at CPK is much better). The Ravioli was tasteless odd looking balls of spinach. I almost gagged while eating the Cappellaci that was drowning in butter. The pasta was also overcooked and had almost no butternut squash filling. The food came out fast, too fast, making us wonder how much is precooked/prepared ahead of time. Overall nothing tasted fresh, or great and I can get better tasting pasta at Costco or CPK, If you want excellent Italian, head to Novo Cucina in Dunwoody. Their incredible Tagliatelle ai Funghi make's Sotto Sotto's version taste like frozen microwave pasta. I am willing to pay extra for great tasting food, but Sotto Sotto just does not cut it.

Delicious food great service

By lindafosters |

Very delicious food. We were there during Resturant week. It was very busy which I sensed is the norm. Even with the crowd our wait-service could not have been friendlier and more fun. The Resturant is located in the lovely Inman Park area of Atlanta. I consider it a must "go to" if in Atlanta!

Very enjoyable dinner

By Jimbo1607 |

We have been wanting to eat here for years. We just never seem to be able to make it happen. Finally last week we did and we were very happy we did. Wish we had done it sooner. The atmosphere was very elegant. Lighting, table settings, and staff were great. The servers were very attentive. The food was amazing. We will definitely going back. This is a great get dressed up, romantic date night choice.

Nice, Trendy Happy Place!!

By rick6973 |

Like this restaurant. The four of us had four different dishes and tried a sample of each others, all were excellent. Atmosphere was nice, a little crammed seating but okay. Service was excellent. Prices were fair. We would recommend it.

Always the Best!

By Amanda C |

Intimate (meaning close tables, but not a detriment), Sotto Sotto is a perennial favorite in Atlanta. The food is always perfectly presented and the servers are professional, friendly but not overly familiar. You can't go wrong with the Funghi Pasta or the roasted Veal Chop. Just the best. Only negative remark is the ridiculous corkage fees...those of us who have large wine collections appreciate enjoying our own wines at fine restaurants. The fees here are over the top, for New York, London, Sydney and definitely for Atlanta. $40 for the first bottle and $80 for the second. The proprietors would do well in revisiting this policy. Otherwise, one of Atlanta's best.

Did not have a "good night."

By Charlotte |

My husband and I dined at Sotto Sotto on Sunday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been in the past and were looking forward to our revisit. Unfortunately, we had a terrible evening and will not be returning or recommending this restaurant. My husband has a long history working in the restaurant industry and we have two rules when dining out, never send food back and never write reviews. Well, those rules have gone out the window as of Sunday. Our reservation was for the patio outdoors where we were seated at a two top table immediately upon entry to the patio. We ordered a four course meal including the smoked burrata, caesar salad, small plate of the seafood pasta, and the veal and ravioli for final course. We also started with a bottle of white wine that that server zealously poured and even waited while the glass was in my hand, at my mouth, while I took a sip to fill me right on up. Food was great until the final course that came out with the third course. I took one bite of the veal and it was over salted. My husband took two bites and agreed. I took another to confirm and we broke the rule. We had to send the veal back. The server quickly took it away and informed us that he did not want the courses coming out that way anyway so sending the item back worked out better. We ordered another bottle of wine. While we waited for the second bottle of wine, another server approached our table to inform us that they would prefer not to make us the veal and we should select something else. He went on to advise that chef had sampled our returned veal and felt it was properly cooked and that’s just the way the prepare it. I must assume (but you know what they say about that) that preparation is over salted or then again maybe the chef was a bit heavy handed with the salt upon frying the veal. Either way we canceled the wine, requested the check and left. Upon exit, the same man who informed us they preferred to not re-prepare our veal advised us to have a good night. As to add insult to injury. I hope he realizes that it was not about the meal or the veal it was how he approached the situation and how he made us feel. It would have been easy remake the veal, we eat it good or bad, we share another bottle of wine, have dessert and leave full. Instead, we were made to feel shamed and embarrassed that we sent an over salted item back. Not only have we eaten around the world, we cook regularly and work in hospitality. But what do we know about salt? We write this review, after my husband used this as an example during line up to his restaurant staff as a reminder of hospitality. There was nothing hospitable about our dinner and I regret to inform the readers and writers of reviews take Sotto Sotto off your list.

Long standing classic

One great dish after another. The scallops were the best anywhere. Appetizers were all yummy. Excellent service, including valet parking. Topped with the gelato as the finishing dish. A great in town eatery.

A foodie's paradise serving Northern Italian cuisine. Perfect for business and pleasure

By Queenie_1954 |

My husband of 41 years thanked me most romantically for choosing Sotto Sotto to celebrate our anniversary. He promised a return trip to the restaurant. The food at Sotto Sotto was a sensory masterpiece, akin to experiencing art.  As we stepped inside, the aroma of garlic, rosemary, olive oil, and seared veal instantly transported us to Italy.   Every dish we tasted was a memorable journey, leaving us craving for more.  We started our meal with a sbagliatto cocktail, which is basically a Negroni with a twist. Prosecco replaces gin, and adding Luxardo Cherries and a fresh slice of orange peel made it the best sbagliatto I’ve had in Atlanta. Our starters were a fresh presentation of carpaccio and a colorful caprese salad.  It was nearly impossible to choose a Primi because all of the dishes were inviting. We decided to order Secundi instead. My husband ordered a veal chop, fragranced with garlic and rosemary and topped with a medley of mushrooms.  It was a generous portion, and he shared some bites with me. My choice for the Secundi, or the main dish, was tortelloni. The check created light, fluffy pasta pillows with a blend of artichoke and mascarpone filling.   They were light, fluffy pillows with a delicate touch.  I feel they should have been on the first-course menu.  But I was in a mood for something light because I wanted dessert.  Chef Ullio serves the best panna cotta in Atlanta. Panna cotta is an Italian dessert of sweetened cream thickened with gelatin molded into a white cushion dotted with flecks of vanilla bean. The Chef dressed it with a drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Whenever I see this dessert, I order it and make mental comparisons. Sotto’s Panna Cotta was amazing.  We ended the meal with a serving of Affogato, which is ice cream drowned in a shot of expresso. This ending to a beautiful meal secured our promise to return.

Easily in top 3 Italian in Atlanta

By Jeff W |

Fantastic food. We each had different salads and the ordered the Lasagna, the Tortelli di Michelangelo Buonaroti and the Strozzapreti and tried a bit of each. Pastas were well prepared and full of flavor. Top it off with the Chocolate Soup ... Bellissimo.

Italian food the way that momma would prepare it

By travelingJV |

The menu provide a great variety of dishes and there is an extensive wine to emphasize the food. The service staff is excellent and provides great service.

Very good and unusual Italian food!!!

By StLawrencelover |

We ate in the patio which was warm enough in April. The wine was excellent! We shared an insalata verde. Very good. I had the michaelangelo ravioli which was seasoned with sage. The lasagnetti and the “Strangle the priest” pasta were red sauce pastas, both excellent. Excellent service and food in a lovely setting.

Authentic Italian Restaurant

By rclayament |

Dinner at Sotto Sotto with colleagues was a truly impressive experience. I have traveled to Italy many times and this is the most authentic Italian cuisine I have found in Atlanta, ALL of the wines are Italian. One perk for vegetarians is that if the menu does not state that meat is in the dish there is NO meat in the dish, not even chicken broth. Plus the gelato is homemade and there is an extra small portion available for those who just want a small bite of something sweet after the meal.

A bit too hyped

By Napamoon |

Always research trip advisor when planning a trip for food. This one sounded great. Verified this by concierge. The place is small and they cram the tables together so that your table needs to be dragged out so that you can get in and out. Next table conversation? Not a problem since you are 8 inches away. They do have an outside garden area but the area was chilly last night and the ambiance took a notch down. Full bar, open kitchen. My pasta lacked sufficient cream sauce that caused it to stick together... The pasta was cooked perfectly but not executed well. They up charge for better olive oil. We also ordered a pizza from their sister restaurant next door which was average at best. Would probably try something else next time.

Best Italian in Atlanta

By DKWilliams |

If you have not experienced Sotto Sotto, you are missing a wonderful culinary treat. I highly suggest the option to split numerous small plates vs ordering a single meal. A couple can choose 4 small plates and enjoy a bountiful selection without wasting food. The wine list is very impressive and the staff work to accommodate and provide recommendations. Reservations are a must with valet parking (validated at restaurant).

Super Good

By B Wood |

Had a business dinner for 8. They accommodated changes for the 8 members; waitress was well mannered and supportive. Liked all of her suggestions. The Veal mohawk steak was outstanding and the pappardelle with duck ragu = excellent. The fresh salad was enough for 5 to sample. Then the desserts put it over the top. Nice place, sat in courtyard. Very, very nice. Best post COVID dinner out.

Eaten here twice. Meals so-so both times

By DeniseWC |

Fabulous wine but okay food especially for the price. Nothing special on the menu. Much better Italian options around town.

Great Italian Restaurant

By Bob M |

My wife and I took our daughters to Sotto Sotto for our oldest daughter's 35th birthday. We were visiting Atlanta because she was filming a movie and was living in an apartment up the street. What a great surprise. Sotto Sotto is a very good restaurant. Great service and great food. If you like veal chops, order their's and you will be glad you did. Chocolate soup? Try it. It's amazing. We're looking for an excuse to go back to Atlanta.

OMG

By Jeff M |

Just got home from my wife's cousin's wedding dinner at Sotto Sotto. Like nothing I've ever experienced before. But as it was unlike what your regular dinner experience might be like I will focus on the service and the food. The pace of the evening was absolutely perfection. Plenty of time to spend with family and friends between courses. The servers/bartenders/management couldn't do enough to make sure that the evening was fantastic. For the event, all of the courses were served family style so you got to try everything. Not one thing we had wasn't at least fantastic. I can't tell you how good the farro salad was because there just aren't words. I love lasagna but that was my least favorite item in the pasta course. The Cappellacci di Zucca with squash and sweet potato in a big tortellini was insane! The Bistecca di Manzo was one of the best steak dishes I ever had (so tender) but the Salmone Arrosto was just as good. Each of the desserts was rediculous. I'm not sure what a typical night is like at Sotto Sotto but if I'm ever in Atlanta again, I'm going to find out. I'm from New York and this is still one of the best Italian meals I've ever had.

Consistently Good

Sotto Sotto continues to be a go to restaurant in Inman Park, as always the food is very good and authentic, great service, great wine and great atmosphere. Enjoy your next visit.

VERY GOOD AND THE BEST PASTA IN MIDTOWN

By JMICHAEL |

Was in Midtown and heard Sotto Sotto had the best homemade pasta in town. It really was excellent, perfect texture and cooked to perfection. We started with the Carpaccio ,AtBrasstown Beef tenderloin carpaccio, parmigiano, capers, lemon, , olive oillanta. Excellent followed by a caesar salad (ok, nothing special), Bufala e Peperoni which was very good,Bufala mozzarella, roasted bell peppers, anchovies, capers. For entree we had, Lasagnette alla Bolognese-Baked Lasagnette, Bolognese, béchamel, Tagliatelle ai Funghi-Tagliatelle, wild mushrooms, cream, and 1 order of Bolognese with Pappardelle pasta, just perfect. The sauce was made with 3 meats and excellent. We all founf room for delicious desserts , Gelato, Panna Cotta and Marscarpone. A really good meal. Next door is another restaurant owned by the same group Fritti, which was very busy. There is valet parking close by.

high cost, small portions, ordinary food

By casstemple |

Very attentive service however prices seemed very high, portion (in particular appetizers) were very small. The pastas were good but nothing unique or outstanding. Too many other great restaurants to try so would not return here

Homemade, Tender, Mouthwatering Pasta

By Springdale 12, AR |

We enjoyed a wonderful meal at Sotto Sotto. Our server was excellent, welcoming, very attentive and helpful answering questions. We selected a delicious red wine for our meal. We started with Antipasto Misto that had tasty Italian meats, cheeses, olives and mushrooms. The melded flavors were terrific, and the wine was perfect with the appetizer and our entrees. We chose Tortelli di Michelangelo Buonaroti and Lasagnette alla Bolognese. The ravioli were filled with veal, pork and chicken in a butter and sage sauce. The lasagna was made with bolognese and a bechamel sauce that gave a mouthful of great flavors that blended together well without one overpowering another. The pasta for both dishes was homemade, very light, tender and delicious; and the sauces were light and subtle, providing sophisticated dishes that surpass any Italian food I've ever had. This is a great restaurant. Parking is limited, but valet parking is available off of Elizabeth St. Seating in the lower dining room can become crowded if you have a later reservation, and the restaurant becomes noisy later in the evening. We had a 6:30 pm reservation and sat on the entrance level that has less crowding, and the early hour resulted in less noise so it was easy to talk. We highly recommend this restaurant. We have never been disappointed at this restaurant! Treat yourself and someone special!

Nice place!

By Tatiana Cherie |

while it was a little hard to see this restaurant from the street, its definitely worth looking for. Tucked away in the streets of Virginia Highlands I discovered some amazing homemade pastas. I was also very impressed by the extensive wine list and ambience of the restaurant. Really cute patio seating in the back. Definitely will visit again. Visited 7/20/16

Neighborhood gem -- also worth the drive

By ResultsWriter |

This restaurant is an icon on the Atlanta neighborhood scene. One night dining there a few years ago, I spotted Bette Davis, and a lot of the movie crowd will gather here during midweek or odd hours. It's one of my favorite places to eat alone and really treat myself at the bar, because the staff at the bar knows the menu as well as any of the highly trained people on the floor. all of the pasta except one or homemade, and you can really tell the care they put into the classic Italian menu and upscale, detailed Italian wine list. One of the things I love about this place is the menu doesn't change. When you fall in love with the dish you can have it again. And boy have they perfected those dishes! Treat yourself to a very special night out and splurge on Sotto Sotto

Amazing!

By Caroline T |

We had an amazing time from the server to the Sommelier to the bartender, everyone was engaging and knowledgeable, we didn’t even look at a menu, just let the staff decide, and was not disappointed!

Perfect Evening!

By TomikaMorgan |

We could not find the place for a brief moment as the sign is a little discreet. However, once inside the restaurant is very quaint with great ambiance. My date and I dined in the upper level which I jokingly called the VIP section. It was perfect and slightly private. We were able to sit closer to each other then on the main level. Chris our server was AMAZING and his suggestion of the scallops were spot on! Both of out main dishes were delicious. I had the papardalle with duck ragu and my date had the lasagna that was made with a different twist. No dessert as we were both way too full. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant over and over again.

Great pastas

By Paul K |

Excellent dinner here! I sampled a variety of their small plate pastas and all were outstanding! The seafood risotto was exceptional too!

Incredible Italian Fare

By rassociate |

We had a fantastic meal tonight, from calrese salad, faro salad, veal chop, risotto, lemon chicken and yes Halibut. The service was as good as the food. Ellyse is a great server.

Food Good

By Wade W |

Nice establishment in the highland park area. I had lasagna. My party had the ravioli and chicken with garlic spinach. Service was a little slow, but I would definitely recommend it.

Amazing time

By Atlanta S |

We dropped in last minute and lucked into a table. The food was fantastic. Bufala mozzarella, mushroom risotto and cacio e pepe - all delicious! The wait staff was excellent. I would happily go again, and highly recommend it. It was a tasty, pleasant experience!

The best Italian in Atlanta !!

By RGGold |

You might drive past the front door once if not twice as they seem reluctant to put up a sign that stands out. Persevere because when you find it you'll not forget where it is a second time !! Outstanding was our meal for 4 then outstanding again was our meal 3 weeks later for 9 people. We sampled so many dishes I cannot report one that was indifferent or disappointing. The seared jumbo scallop starter with cannellini beans and truffle oil is divine and so plentiful, not far short of a main course. Equally wonderful is there bufala mozzarella. Risotto funghi was a big favorite as was the linguine vongole. Wood roasted whole fish, roasted veal chop the list goes on and on... And if you have the stamina, the homemade ice cream is wonderful... Excellent wine list which is not too pricey wrapped around with attentive and knowledgeable service... It seats only about 40 so book well ahead as it rightly, is often full !!!

Wonderful dinner and great atmosphere

Dinner with business associates. Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. Would highly recommend.

Cozy good quality restaurant

By ColoradoCat |

I chose to go to this restaurant bec. of the high reviews and I love Italian food. I got the lasagna which was quite nice (a fair size portion) and a good wine. It is in a trendy neighborhood. I parked way up the street bec. I couldnt find a spot near the place, and it is a steep walk down. I called one day to get a reserva. but they were full, so I called again another day and they said I'd have to sit at the bar. I called back and said ok (I'm a solo woman) and the other guy seemed to feel I might get a table; which I did. Oh, and this was all early, like 5 or 6 when they opened. It's a nice cozy modern Italian atmosphere vs. classy. Noise wasnt too bad despite it being mostly a big room. Service was very professional. I had to wait a long time for the check. Nice night out, but wouldnt rush back.

Underwhelming

By Krystle W |

We wanted to try something different for my husband’s birthday and referred to Sotto Sotto by one of our foodie friends...we love Italian fare so decided to give it a shot. From the reviews we read prior to visiting, the bar was set pretty high. The pasta was excellent; we ordered the lasagne and duck ragu pappardelle. Noodles were fresh and cooked perfectly. We also ordered a first course portion of the wild mushroom risotto which was quite nice, but seasoning could have been better. The burrata we were served however, was abysmal. It literally looked like flan and tasted like a mozzarella ball. No creaminess like a proper burrata should be. Completely firm on the inside. To be served that was honestly insulting to my intelligence. The ambience was underwhelming as we were seated upstairs in what looked like an overflow/separate dining area overlooking Fritti. The decor looked like an afterthought; walls painted black, like a dark attic and the acoustics were horrible. We had made reservations and would have appreciated a better table considering the patio was still completely empty when we arrived. Service was average, nothing special. Our server was friendly and polite but bland and lacked personality; felt like service you would receive at your typical chain restaurant. Overall rating 6/10. Would probably return to Valenza or La Grotta next time we have a craving for Italian.

Dissappinted with capital D

By Elle G |

Maybe its our fault because we came on a rainy Restaurant week Friday night but we were put upstairs in the loft, which is across the patio/alley, upstairs to a balcony which peeks down to the adjacent 'Fritti' dining area. The loft has the appeal, warmth and acoustics of a closet - painted black. The noise was horrific. Although no one came to the table for 15 min, when the waiter did show up he was mostly efficient and helpful. All of the food was good, except for the tortellini - over processed filling and rubbery pasta. We had driven 10 hours that day from VA and hustled to make our 8:30 reservation. We waited patiently 15 min to be seated. We were really looking forward to our dinner, and had dressed up. A restaurant is not only about the food it is also about ambiance. The loft location is not up to the quality of the rest of the restaurant. We were Disappointed in the experience.

Food was ok, not great; service was uninformed and poorly trained

By Rcdown78 |

We were a party of six (three couples) with several ordering fish, several pasta entrees and several ordering meat. The pastas were the best of the lot, and the fish was just ok. The worst problem was one person ordered the whole roast fish special, to be filleted tableside. But when the waiter came to our table, he pushed dishes aside to create a space to fillet the fish on the table, wholly disrupting where the dishes were, what people were eating, where their drinks were, etc. He then proceeded to do the fillet without any regard to how he was disrupting things. And by the way, he did a HORRIBLE job, leaving many bones in the fish. Later, he served certain people by reaching across the table....seemingly wholly untrained in even the basics. Sotto Sotto has pretensions of being high end. It needs to do a lot better to live up to how it sees itself.....a whole lot better.

Sophisticed & Nuanced Italian

By Bartholomew T |

This is a delightful small, artisinal Italian restaurant. The bar is quite cozy and my Manhattan was superb due to the specialty Sweet Vermouth that was employed. We of course had the "Priest Strangler" pasta which was perfectly al dente and asked for extra sauce so the meat was plentiful. Some excellent recommendations of white & red wine by the glass perfectly complemented each ample course. The grappa selection was solid which capped the meal to perfection. BRAVO!!

Buono

By Mark1410 |

Very nice quaint Italian dining experience. Service is excellent. Tuna was wonderful. Chicken a little salty, but we don't use salt, so this might be normal. Parking in back, ticket is validated. Gets busy, so recommend.. Definitely worth a visit.

Worth the wait!

By Queenie_1954 |

Worth the wait! Caprese & tuna apps, plus fresh house-made pasta—all amazing. For dessert, panna cotta and affogato 🙂🍷🍝

Really great! Hard work to find.

By CEGDESIGN |

Sotto Sotto is really a wonderful restaurant. This is my second review and it is no less fantastic than the previous from 2 years ago! The food is prepared just as you imagined as you read it on the menu. I had the very simple ricotta and mint ravioli and it was a burst of flavor! I was so pleased because it sounded so simple I wasn't sure. There's a secret: you may order a pizza from Fritti next door if you ask nicely! Same owners. 👍🏻😃

Horrible customer service

By Lucy |

I was looking forward to celebrating a friends birthday here, but the staff ruined the occasion. We were one of the only tables with people of color. Waiters (all white) gave us dirty looks when passing us. Although the food was good, our waiter made paying for the meal much more difficult than it needed to be. As a group of friends, we wanted to split our checks so that we each paid for the specific items we ordered. He did not understand that and talked about how usually one person pays the check with a credit card. He said that it was not possible to split bills on the sale system they used.Instead of splitting the check like we asked or making any effort towards doing so, he kept walking back and forth to the table, never bringing back any reasonable solutions . He also insinuated that we were the ones being unreasonable and that we should just have one person pay the bill. We ended up having to call over the manager, who did not offer any assistance whatsoever, and wasn’t clearly in a managerial position, stating that he was both the owner and head chef, but could not give us any help. In the end, we each had to calculate our own totals from the main bill and have the waiter manually charge our cards. He was unhelpful through this whole process. He also made several backhanded comments that I don’t believe he would have made if we were all white and wealthy like most of the people at Sotto Sotto. Also, we brought our own specialized cake for the birthday and they tried to charge us a cake fee for keeping it in the kitchen while we ate. This is keeping in mind that when we arrived they offered to take the cake without mentioning that they would charge us for keeping the cake in the kitchen while we ate our meal. Overall, I would not come here again and I would not recommend it for any person of color because you will not feel welcomed in this environment; you will be treated differently to white customers. Please spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Taking Italian Comfort to the Next Level

By Here2Sea |

Amazing wine list. Get the lasagna and the dolce al marscapone. Mussels are cooked to perfection. We had amazing service that made honest recommendations that took us from an every day dinner experience to tastes that were delightful. This is a great place to conduct business. The atmosphere is contempo business. I can also see this as a great place to enjoy a fun dining experience with good friends or even a first date.

Anniversary Dinner Spoiled!

By Jane F |

Looking forward to a quiet Anniversary dinner that was spoiled sitting next to a family with two very young bouncy kids on the bench. I am confident the website politely ask that children be left at home but this evening that was not the case. The tables are so close to one another (and no fault of the children) but the parents for thinking 3 and 4 year olds can sit quietly through an evening dinner. I left a note on the paper table cloth to our very nice waitress who showed it to someone at the bar who "shrugged his shoulders".

Very pleased will return

By Midwest2 |

First time to Sotto Sotto and this will not be my last even with a 45 minute drive. We came on a busy Friday night and while the host staff was not the most welcoming I have experienced once we were finally seated we were very pleased. Very wide selection of Italian wines both by the glass and bottle. The bread had a nice crust. My caesar salad was very good both in terms of the dressing and quality of the salad served on cold plates. My wife had the tri-color salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. Our entrees were halibut and a mushroom risotto. The dishes served to other tables looked inviting and we look forward to a return visit and tasting other items on the menu.

Caesar Salad...spot on! 2 other entrees...quite delicious! I shall return!!!

By bonne306 |

Two of us ate at the bar (no tables on Saturday without a reservation due to demand).Everyone was very helpful and as I have developed my caesar salad recipe over the years, they had a delicious one. I might have put a little more anchovy tase in the dressing, but that's just me. It's good to know that you can order small plates of your main course; we both had the risotto. I had the mushroom and my friend had the caramel glazed and they were both delicious!

Worse service than a Waffle House

By COLadyRoadWarrior |

Location? Hip little neighborhood. Ambiance? Relaxing and trendy. Robust wine list, creative food menu, outdoor dining. It's all there. The service is the worst I have experienced in a long time. Our waiter was snooty and dismissive, plus flighty, disorganized and forgetful. I honestly suspect he was high. Our waiter actually showed up at our table to clear our salads and ask us if we wanted to see a desert menu. He had to be reminded we had not yet even seen our food. What should have been an amazing dining experience was scrambled due to almost laughably atrocious service.

Family Gathering and Anniversary Dinner--Great

By 122 |

Getting a reservation on a Friday evening is a trick, but we were successful. A wide variety of choices that are more authentically Italian than what one often encounters elsewhere where Italian means garlic and red sauce. Began with prosecco and double antipasto plate with knock out cheeses, olives, great bread and meats. Selected dinner choices varied from risotto to salmon. I had the Michelangelo Buonarroti. A good wine selection--we had no. 252--an Ana wine and excellent choice going nicely with the diversity of entrees. We had a five-year old with us who was treated nicely and provided a child's portion. Interior is well-done---feels "authentic"--meaning you'd like to have this as your neighborhood restaurant-- a place to go, relax, and savor. Service was attentive but not intrusive. The owner also owns Fritti next door--fabulous pizzas and outdoor seating.

No regard for mask mandate.

By The Doctor |

Almost all of the waiters and support staff had their masks down around their chin and my waiter took hers off about 10 mins into my arrival. And she even sounded like she had a cold. The food was decent but if a place is run with this much disrespect for the community and patrons health then it is not worth it.

Excellent

By JWhiteVIP |

Its hard to find anything to complain about regarding this restaurant. The food was amazing and the overall condition was spotless. As long as you are comfortable in an intimate setting with people sitting very close to you, you will most likely enjoy the experience. By the way, business casual attire seems to be the standard.

granddame ages, not well

By reprof |

Sad when a former granddame ages. We’ve been going to Sotto Sotto since it opened in 1999, have always regarded it well, celebrated several special occasions there, but a recent visit was a disappointment. First, the good part. A pleasant outdoor garden room has been added behind the bar so it is no longer just the fairly cramped dining room with a smallish patio out back, as when Sotto Sotto first opened. But the food has lost its edge. The potatoes that came with the branzino were skimpy and soggy, not ample and crisp as previously. The Tortellini Michelangelo, an old favorite, was leathery and lacked taste. A mention to the server elicited only a shrug. The drinks were skimpy and overpriced—and, worse, served after the starters had come. The service was indifferent to worse, both too little and too much; things appeared in no particular order with intrusive attempts to whisk unfinished dishes away. I believe in second chances, but I’m not sure I’ll be going back.

Still amazing

By Maria G |

Sotto Sotto amazes me with its consistency over the years. I love their Risotto Montecarlo which is risotto with 18-year-old balsamic vinegar. It's delicious! Their bread is crusty and comes with extra virgin olive oil. I love the amaretto cookies and the panecotta was to die for. I will be back!

Supper

By Steve S |

Excellent meal, service was outstanding. As stated before, somewhat hard to find but certainly worth it. Recommend the halibut, veal chop, and, of course, the chocolate soup !!

Inman Park Restaurant Week

By kurokitty |

We came here for Inman Park Restaurant Week -- it was a great experience. We sat in the patio, which we'd never done in a few prior visits. I had the Strozzapreti alla Salsiccia, or "Priest Strangler," and the wife loved the asparagus risotto. Of course we loved the chocolate soup dessert. Service was great and it was nice to come back and dine here again!

Great food and service

By FLTraveler407 |

Stopped in on a Friday night without reservations and was seated right away. Wait staff was prompt and helpful. Menu was diverse - was hard to choose! Ravioli with sausage was amazing. Incredible wine selection.

SUCH A LOVELY MEAL AND EXPERIENCE!

By cdfs |

There was nothing less than incredible. The wait staff, ambiance, menu, decor, and of course, the food. Delicious, amazing presentation, and I swear I am not related to the owner. There are so many good restaurants in ATL that you could just keep finding new spots, but this is one I'll revisit.

Superb risotto in the heart of the highlands

By Jonathan C |

Well the fact that they have their own parking lot and I didn't have to risk getting my car booted was a plus right off the bat. The patio out back was tastefully done with bamboo dividers that created a cozy atmosphere for a decent date night dining experience. The blooming flowers on the trees provided a nice odor but also meant fishing a bud or two out of the wine glass which BTW was excellent as was everything else we had that night. We did a three course meal with the seafood risotto being the centerpiece and it did not disappoint. Price was right on point and service was great. I look forward to exploring more of their menu in the future. Decent Italian in the heart of the highlands for sure.

Wow

By MMShirley |

Everything about this restaurant was wow to me and my whole table. We had a business dinner and everyone loved everything we had. The waiter was very knowledgeable of all the foods to help you choose. One of my guest at the table is Italian and he was bragging on how great the food was as well. Make sure to save room for the chocolate soup.

It was very Cold - Watch out going near the Holidays

By Land_Architect |

We been there several times, And had good experience. But this time they placed us on the back patio the Friday before Christmas . It was very cold and bad experience. I spent alot for a dinner that got cold quick. I wanted to take my college girls out for nice dinner. Watch out going near the holidays becouse they may put you on the patio so the owner can make more money. We should of walk away!

Great dining room, lovely ambiance, average food. All flash and little substance.

By Kyle H |

This restaurant excels in all the other places you respect for a mid-high class Italian place except for the food. Which is not to say it’s bad, it’s perfectly serviceable but at their price range you expect the dishes to be executed a little better. The place is good for a date if you’re trying to impress someone who doesn’t have much of a palate. Service was very good, the wine list is solid and I did have a lovely savingon blanc but out of the dishes I tried I didn’t think the price point matched the quality of the food. The tortelli I was overcooked almost like it had been finished in a dry heat. The halibut was slightly overcooked and every dish lacked salt. Nothing blew me away, nothing made me want o come back for more. Which is disappointing given the menu selection. Everything is in place for success there, but I can’t say you’re going to look at your bill at the end of the evening and feel that the meal justified it.

Hard to find, tight seating, good food

By Jim W. |

We wanted to try someplace new and upscale for a celebration dinner. We chose Sotto Sotto based on the other reviews. First, a 1-point deduction for signage. We literally drove by the place once, turned on navigation, and still didn't see it until we were passing it. Their only sign is a weathered piece of metal with the 3" letters etched out of it, against a building with non-contrasting colors. Advice: look for Fritti next door, turn there, and you'll find the valet parking. This was a needlessly frustrating introduction that a better sign could easily fix. On our way into the restaurant, we noted mangled bumper-parts at the same corner, probably from someone who got into an accident while searching for this restaurant. The restaurant's facade is nondescript at best; it looks like an abandoned copy shop. However, inside is quite nice. Lighting is somewhat subdued for atmosphere. There is a patio for dining, or you can opt for the interior as we did. Another 1-point deduction for seating. They do have 4-person tables and sometimes appeared to set just 2 people there. However, most couples get seating by the long wall along the right side. The only issue with this is the spacing; tables are less than a foot apart, so there is no sense of private dining at all. This was more irritating to my wife, but things roll downhill... Otherwise, dinner was nice. The bread was a bit soft / plain and there was no available pepper to spice the olive oil dip. The salads were okay, but a bit bland. Wine portions seemed small. The main courses were good. My wife really enjoyed her fish, and my tortelli was also good (though the portion was small - only about 8 pieces total). Prices were a bit high, but in-line with this sort of fine dining restaurant. Based on our experience, I don't think we'd return, as there are other similar restaurants in the area without the negative factors.

Excellent food in Inman Park

By ToniS1111 |

We enjoyed everything at this restaurant although I can say the portions are smaller especially for the appetizers and salads, but it was all delicious. My halibut was excellent as was my beet salad and the pastas were all delicious. It is a smaller restaurant in Inman Park that is not so easy to find as the sign does not stand out much. Next to one of their sister restaurants, we found parking in the public parking which is close by. The service was excellent, not pushing or intrusive but efficient.

Incredible experience

By Alix Connor |

The prosciutto was off the charts delicious. We ordered the cheese and meat plate and it was so good. Next we did the smaller first course portions and we chose the Nudi and the tortelli michaelangelo. They were awesome about us sharing these and brought an additional plate for each of us. We then moved onto the main course and split the ribeye. So so so good. The ambiance on the patio was great for a date night. Will absolutely return again for the wonderful food and service. A+

Great italian

By MarianaV1 |

Super great ambiance, in a very nice neighborhood! Very good Italian food, homemade pasta! I really enjoyed my visit

Always super Italian

By Bestboy12 |

I have been to this restaurant many time and will always keep coming back. The atmosphere is vibrant. The food is superb. Not cheap but worth it. Service is always efficient without being intrusive. Don't hesitate to try any of the pastas. All are great. The Lasagna is not typical but excellent. Enjoy.

Stunned by lack of masks by restaurant staff

By Connector60154 |

We picked this restaurant for a special meal, knowing we could sit outside to dine. When entering the restaurant were surprised to find staff congregating by hostess. Noone was wearing a mask. While we expected to be maskless while dining, we expected staff to be masked, especially inside. No Covid protocol seemed to be in place. The food was lovely, the service mediocre.

Another amazing meal!

By Ann D |

This is the third visit and did not disappointment once again. Had a large group of 12 business associates and the service was amazing along with great food!

The Total Package

By rfreeman2015 |

Sotto Sotto in bustling Inman Park provided the perfect food, service and ambience, as well as a nice dose of festiveness for a dinner earlier this week. My companion and I both ordered the Caesar Salad and Lasagnette Alla Bolognese, with my entrée based on her recommendation. Both the Caesar Salad and Lasagnette, unusually and creatively presented, were super delicious. In the attractive and comfortable space to which holiday lights had been added, the food and the vibe hit the spot. Moreover, service was at the ready when needed. Sotto Sotto and La Grotta are my two favorite destinations for Italy in Atlanta.

Absolutely Delicious!

By Mommynme18 |

First time here. The location is perfect for starters. Hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever eaten outside of Italy! Perfectly plated, perfect portions, excellent wine selection and a solid 5 stars!

Love this place!

By Lisa H |

So classy, great bar, although small, great bartenders and drinks, and fabulous, so delicious food. Wonderful intimate atmosphere and great service.

So Good - Italian that can't be beat!

By CCCuffs |

Sotto Sotto has been around for many years for a reason. The food is exceptional, the service exquisite and the ambiance is very comfortable. I've never had anything on this menu that has disappointed. If you are looking for great Italian in the Highlands, this is it!

Mediocre at best

By Cruiser01566138416 |

Called for a reservations and were told only 6 pm was available and only seating was available upstairs at neighbor restaurant Fritti but they would give us the Sotto Sotto menu?! We called to say we were running 30 minutes late and they said fine. When we arrived they said they could seat us inside at Sotto Sotto. It was freezing inside as they had the air conditioning cranked up, I would have planned better and brought a sweater had they communicated the change in seating and we would be inside vs. outdoors. Our waiter was very snarky, he came to our table and stood in such a weird position so each time we communicated with him we had to turn around and crank our heads. Food was mediocre. Our server kept referring to the heirloom tomatoes that the chef was using so I ordered dishes to enjoy that but neither show-cased fresh tomatoes. Also the pasta was terrible, could have bought better at the grocery store. The atmosphere is pleasant enough but still lacking. They did a nice job spacing tables due to COVID restrictions. Don’t make a special trip here but given there are few nice restaurants in Atlanta this may be one in the area that gets frequented due to lack of choices.

Really nice evening and dinner

By Barbara B |

The food was very good and for that area of Atlanta the prices were high but expected. We had cocktails that were prepared very well and elicited a lot of positive comments around the table. We did have an antipasti board that was very good with interesting tidbits we all enjoyed. The dinner entrees were interesting but not overboard. The veal chop was amazing according to the person who had ordered it. The veal scalapini was also enjoyed. The pasta dishes were not overwhelming in size and had very nice flavors. The only under performer was the roasted chicken. Dessert was fine, but not in the same caliber as the dinner entrees. Also, best to assume valet parking and not try street parking as it is very crowded. Also in your reservation make sure if you want to sit on the patio that you tell them. It fills fast.

Italian Perfecto in the ATL

By Luv2Go56 |

One of my favorite restaurants - as close to true Italian food outside of Italy that you can get in Atlanta. Inman Park is crazy busy so we took Uber this time on a warm HOTlanta evening for first reservation at 5:30. Got there early and unfortunately would not let us in to sit at the bar - asked us to go next door - which was impossible with all the college kids crowded into all the bars. Once we were able to get in and order dinner - life was good. Started with the Cape Sante scallops and risotto Mantecato dishes which are always AMAZING! See pics. Main courses ...Husband ordered Costoletta di Vitello - an oak roasted tuscan style veal chop with wild mushrooms in natural jus - YUMMY! I tried pasta - Tortelli di Michelangelo Buonaroti - a 16th century recipe from his letters - veal, chicken and pork ravioli in a sumptous butter/sage sauce that was to die for - EXQUISITE. Had a wonderful red wine that hubby picked out. No room for dessert - another perfect meal at Sotto Sotto!

Another great night

By Michele F |

Sotto Sotto never fails. Second time here and perfect from the moment you walk in. We had the seafood risotto for an appetizer simply delicious. Entrees were the veal chop and pasta with mushrooms. Both were perfect. Wine selection is superb!! You will not be disappointed from the food to the service everything is exceptional. Small, personal and romantic!!

Something has changed here...

By Tky2073 |

I was here a year ago and much better before. Pasta with clams had no taste and not hot. They forgot my salad with my veal. I ordered Vinsanto with biscotti for desert and they served it in a brandy snifter so you could not dip your cookie, and served round almond cookies not biscotti, so completely f’ed up. Won’t be back.

Hidden

By Goingplaces1953 |

Go for the wine. The food is above average and our server was very attentive. The wine list is very good and listed by regions of Italy. The signage is extremely poor but finally a friendly valet from another restaurant escorted us. His comment “ the sign is hidden” is correct. Look for a small dark metal plaque on a black building. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time ( and we arrived 10 minutes early despite the sign). With the small bar full expect to stand by the restrooms to wait.

Delicious risotto

By Arno T |

Very tastefull pasta and risotto! Outdoor setting is nice. Gin tonic was not that great. Too much gin. Staff was friendly

Hard to like a restaurant with bad service

By Kathryn G |

I was here for a business dinner, and the service was atrocious. Granted, it was a Saturday evening so they were very busy. But once we were seated in the back patio area we were completely forgotten. We finally snagged a server who said "Oh, we're understaffed tonight." No kidding!! We got to place our orders, and food started to arrive. But then we waited 20 minutes while someone went to get the wine a colleague had ordered - all the while with our food on the table getting cold. I will say that the risotto was very good, and I like being able to order a small plate. But the Caesar salad was bland, even with the addition of anchovies. If I lived in Atlanta I'd probably try this place again on the assumption it was an "off" night. But as a business traveler, I won't go back on my next trip to Atlanta.

Great Italian on the Beltline

By John R |

After a business meeting we took a client to Soto Soto and had a very good experience. I had duck pappardelle perfectly prepared. And we had a sliced ribeye for the middle of the table to share. Crazy good combo. Great bottle of Montepulciano and good service. Afterwards there were great neighborhood bars for a nightcap

Delicious

By Robby D |

Great place with great food. Spaghetti was perfectly coocked. As perfect as they prepare this in Italy. Also the veal chop was amazing. Just a pity that they did not have tiramisu as a desert.

Small portions for big prices

By K R |

Good Italian food, but not spectacular. The misto salad was big, able to split it with a friend to not be overfull for the main. The waiter was helpful with menu selections and said the pasta can be ordered in half portions at half the price. But that was not true. The half portion for the “high hat” pasta was only 5 pieces, not nearly enough and was not half price at the end-it was $12, when a full portion was $18. Was still hungry so ordered the gnocchi half thinking again it was half the price, it was delicious but again was $12, when the full was $18. Dessert options could have been better-adding tiramisu or creme brûlée would be amazing! The service was amazing in the beginning and then our waiter seemed to disappear, no water refills or bread refills. For the price we paid, expected more.

Authentico Italiano, local and seasonal to table

By JParlante |

This is a very nice and quaint little restaurant. This is very hard to miss as the sign is almost unnoticeable. Hint, it's right next to Fritta's which is their Pizzeria on the corner. They have an extensive wine list. If you're unfamiliar with Italian wines be sure to ask your waiter for suggestions and maybe even a tasting. The pasta was perfectly cooked 'al dente'. The sweet suasage sauce on the Friar's noodles was very tasty. The risotto dish was a little salty. Our server was very experienced and knowledgable. All in all a very good dining experience.

Perfect risotto

By UKLass09 |

This restaurant came recommended by a couple of locals including the Uber driver. They were correct, we sat in the garden courtyard and dispute a pending thunderstorm managed to stay there for the entire meal My wild mushroom risotto was to die for and my partners ravioli stuffed with a mix of chicken pork and other meals really great

Awesome All Around!

By Nicole Nathan |

Super staff! Nice ambiance! Wine selection was superb and of course everyone at my table was very pleased with their dinners! Get the homemade gelato!

Great food and service, crazy busy Saturday nights

By Barnesms |

Went for a birthday dinner Saturday night, man oh man it is busy at “rush-hour” 7:30-9pm, can’t even stand and the bar is tiny. But the food is worth the wait. Great selection of Italian dishes, excellent starters, the smoked burrata is very good. Their salads and faro dishes both excellent, in particular I’d recommend the beet, arugula and Gorgonzola salad. Great combo. Pasta’s are great, their artichoke ravioli awesome. Their pasta with cream sauce and peas, a little al-dente, but great sauce. The duck ragu was satisfactory. The fish of the day, very good. Drink and wine selection was vast and interesting. Good selections and mixes. Deserts were great, the gelato is worth a choice, in particular the strawberry. White chocolate bread pudding hit the spot. All told, 3-4 cocktails, bottle of wine, two appetizers, two pastas, three mains, two deserts about $320 w/o tip.

A bit of Italy but mainly Georgian

By Geert B |

I visited Sotto Sotto with two friends who come more often at this place because of the quality of food and wine. We were seated, at our request, in the outside patio next to the parking space. The service was timely and friendly although the waiter clearly had never been to Italy and had problems with the pronunciation of the Italian language. The bietole e rucola salad was a bit of a disappoinment. The beet was clearly not or hardly roasted and the other promised ingredients were virtually absent. The lasagnette alla Bolognese was traditional and of good quality. The wine list is excellent, the Volte sangiovese a good choice.

Best pasta in Atlanta

By Ms. Pants |

The gnocchi was a little to cheesy but the other 3 pasta dishes we had were AMAZING. Super fresh best pasta in Atlanta hands down. I will be going back for sure. Parking is tricky though I would suggest taking a ride service there.

Nasty seafood risotto --- haughty management

By Ted |

The Seafood risotto was nasty. Very fishy and unpleasant. The risotto itself was poorly cooked --- soggy and soupy rather than chewy. I mentioned it to the server, she came back and said the manager (who didnt deign to speak to me) said I had waited too late and had eaten some of it (maybe a 1/3), moreover it had the normal taste. I have had risotto many times in many places, as well as frutti di mare dishes many times over 40 years in Italy, France and the US. I know what they taste like. They dont taste nasty. I very rarely send back food. But this was simply bad. And the attitude just as haughty as I suspected below. Never again.

Well done Italian

By JAFH25 |

I had not been in several years, 4 of us dined here and I was glad to find everything as perfect as I’d remembered. Gnocchi and lasagna were my 2 favorite dishes served to our table. The salads are quite large and I recommend sharing. Atmosphere is great and it’s located in a now hip area of Atlanta.

Disappointing

By annelise342 |

Had dinner reservations. Hostess rude, bad start. Server not up to par with wine recommendations. Food mostly just ok. Whole cooked fish was bland and fishy. And for all of that - expensive. Don’t bother, many better places nearby.

Very pleasant

By Bento1949 |

We ate at Sotto Sotto this evening. This was the second time for my wife and myself and the first time for my son. We dined outside and both the food and the atmosphere were wonderful. My son and I shared the mussels appetizer which was terrific. It was very well prepared and frankly more than we needed. I had the "priest strangler", a rope like pasta in a sausage ragu and it was really delicious. My son had the linguini with mixed seafood and my wife the tortelli. They both were very pleased. All the pasta was fresh, tasty, and prepared perfectly. Although we all had pasta the full menu is quite diverse and very interesting. The wine list is all Italian but very extensive. Finally, the service was quite professional and the prices reasonable. In all, this was a really nice dining experience. I recommend Sotto Sotto highly.

good

By kasitravels |

Service was slow, but they made up for it. I guess they were having trouble with their credit card machine so we hardly saw our waiter at all. Food was good, but I felt some of the pastas were on the salty side, especially the sausage pasta in the red sauce. I make my own homemade pasta maybe this is why I was less impressed. However the pumpkin stuffed ravioli was amazinnggg and gone in two seconds bc all of our group shared everything. Deserts were good and appetizers and salad were good. Given a 4/5 bc of service and salty pasta.

great hidden outdoor space

By Helen F-N |

great restaurant with lovely hidden back garden - v pleasant surprise. we were a big group (14) and the waiting staff coped well - apart from one main dish being served at least tem minutes behind everyone else - so a little disappointing. food was excellent - really tasty and well presented. was a good meal in a great part of Atlanta

New regular for us, gluten-free no problem

By Jean H |

First time trying this place. Valet parking easy, not to noisy, good service. Cocktail was very good and had no problem getting a gluten-free meal for my celiac husband.

Birthday dinner

By Chris B |

I am giving the food 4 stars!! Everything was really good! We had tuna carpaccio, muscles, beef carpaccio, risotto mantecato, Michelangelo Buonarroti (very rich), tuna steak special (over cooked 1st time out). Dessert we had the chocolate soup OMG!! Also Affogato Completo!!!!! Service on the other hand 2 stars... we felt very rushed and honestly you don't impress me when you don't write your orders down. He didn't say anything about being a birthday. When we wanted to pace ourselves he made the comment that his chef is not going to like that and he needed the whole order... is his chef really like that or did he just want to turn our table?

Delish and cool area

By Jeff K |

In town for a few days and this place came up a lot from friendly advice. And it did not disappoint. The pastas were magnifico ( I think that's a word, Italian maybe, but a word). Wine selection solid. Appetizers the best earl deal. Authentic Italian as billed and cute little neighborhood. Try it - you won't be let down. I loved the acacia Pepe and Cesar Salad with anchovies. Worked for me!

Exquisite

By radtech14 |

Went on New Year's Eve with reservations at 5:30. Was able to be seated before my time. Waitress Hostess and staff was all on point. Never wanted for anything. Cups were always refilled and fresh bread available on demand. Dishes came out hot. The only confusion was portions. I would recommend sharing several different dishes.

So So at Sotto Sotto

By ATL-1075 |

Having enjoyed dining at Sotto Sotto through many years, we looked forward to entertaining guests there on March 3, 2017. The ambience, service, and lively crowd are always a treat. The several pasta dishes were tasty but not outstanding. Most disappointing were the Tonne e Fagioli seared tuna, Costoletta di Vitello veal chop, and Tagliata di Manzo ribeye. None were more than mediocre and up to standards of other neighborhood and greater Atlanta restaurants. We'll surely be back, but these selections did not measure up to past experiences or what we had come to expect of Sotto Sotto.

Excellent Pasta!!

By TBONEWILLY999 |

Dined here for the first time on a Saturday night with 6:15 dinner reservations. The front door is a bit hard to find, small black sign next to the door, looks like you are walking in the side or back door. Right next door to Fritte which is on the corner. We were greeted promptly and seated indoors. Our server was right there welcoming us. Service was great, food pacing just a bit off but the place was very busy. Didn't really matter, we had some good wine and cocktails. Server provided free deserts. All I can say is we cleaned out plates. Very delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Best Pasta Ever!

By Vance T |

First time here last week and it surely will not be the last. Be sure to book a reservation as space is limited. Great Pastas, and I mean great! Make sure to try several and you will not be disappointed! Incredible dinner!

Perfetto!

By Phil K |

We knew from a previous visit that Sotto Sotto is very good and very expensive, so we approached wisely. First: We made our Saturday reservation for 6:30 when the place isn't jammed and noisy as a Hartsfield runway. Not chic, but we were delighted with the attention of server Chris and others, including a guy our age who was either the owner or manager and had time for a nice chat. We split an antipasto of insanely wonderful mozarella, 2 Caesars, then ordered two 1st course size orders of different risottas and two pastas. Everything was first rate, and we got to sample a lot. Shared 3 gelato (made by gelato superstar Meridith Ford). With a nice bottle of wine, the bill was under $140 before tip, and that is an accomplishment for two at Sotto Sotto!

Oldest suburb of ATL gem

By Melissa U |

What a great find! This area is bustling with people and cute shops and hip restaurants. Parking can be tough but a lot better f places have valet. Sotto Sotto is a beautiful italian gem! Great service, ask for Chris! Wine list is primarily italian.... but Chris was knowledgeable! Handmade pasta, perfect portions, crusty bread! And oh the snickers gelato!

Solid Italian Joint!

By ah64fish |

This was only our 2nd time here and the service and food were both great. We sat in an upstairs area I didn’t even know they had and usually use as their private dining area. I had the Michelangelo dish which was awesome. My wife had the Lasagnette, and it was good as well, but my dish was better according to her. Give this nice neighborhood spot a try.

Great veal chop

By bigaps |

We've been here several times over the years and the food has been consistently good. One of the best veal chops in Atlanta and the risotto is always done right. The service is excellent and the ambiance a bit noisy and crowded with most of the tables against the wall and close together. Valet parking is around the corner and a bit tricky on a busy evening.

Oh my... Delicious Italian!

By LPS789 |

We had a wonderful dinner on a Monday evening at Sotto Sotto. It is located in a cool/hip section of Inman Park, a great historic neighborhood. The food was fantastic and the service was excellent. The Tortelli di Michelangelo Buonarroti, a veal, chicken and pork filled pasta with a butter/sage sauce was fabulous! So was the Ravioli Nudi, which is a spinach and ricotta gnocchi. Make sure you make a reservation. We will make a point of coming back the next time we are in the Atlanta area!

Fabulous pastas....

By Elizabeth M |

Beef carpaccio was incredible! Deconstructed lasagna very good! Great bartender, dinner at the bar was a pleasant experience. Nice pours on the glasses of wine. Always a class act and wonderful food!

I will go again!

By Quillon O |

Traveling for work necessitates that I eat out ALOT. One of my colleagues suggested we take the 5 of us to SOTO SOTO. We were all impressed. The staff was caring and very attentive. Our waiter was awesome and the food was above what I expected. I had the veal ravioli and cannot remember a better bite of ravioli in my life. Bravo SOTO SOTO, keep up the amazing work!

Delicious Risotto

By Leighy |

Went here for dinner tonight after not having visited this restaurant in many years. It was just as spectacular as I remember. I had the seafood risotto. It comes with shrimp, squid, clams, and mussels. I don't care for clams or mussels so I asked if I could substitute asparagus instead. Server went to ask the chef and he accommodated me. It was simply delicious. My friend had the pasta with sausage ragu. She loved it. Looking forward to going back for more risotto and I also have my eye on the pappardelle with duck ragu.. Yum!!

Father's Birthday Dinner

Sotto Sotto pulled out the red carpet for my dad's 70th! It was a beautiful Sunday early evening and we got seated on their patio and they opened up the roof to the sky. With the sun already setting, it was directly beating down on us just a gentle warmth in the distance. Our team to handle our large party was phenomenal and treated my dad so well. The food.. WOW! The food among all of us was incredible! My personal favorite was the pappardelle al sugo d’anatra (Duck rago) which was amazing! The staff cut up his cake and gave a wonderful send off to end an amazing weekend! Thank you all it was a fantastic time!

GREAT Italian pasta!

By jeff M |

Dined her 2 nights in a row and LOVE it. It's a romantic restaurant and the bartender actually knows how to make great drinks which i find rare. Had he pasta alamatrina and it was fantastic. Only thing I did not like was the bread pudding as it was extra dry and not to appetizing. The meat and cheese tray delish and so was the carpaccio. Our server was fantastic!

Always a treat

By myself on a Sunday night, sat the bar. Staff friendly. Bartender attentive and funny. And the food ... ohh, the food. As always, outstanding! The Gnocchi is bloody amazing. Excellent.

Delightfully consistent Italian awesomeness

By ResultsWriter |

Sotto Sotto is a neighborhood staple. If you're dining alone, the small, cozy bar almost always has room. If you're going on a popular night, get reservations. The menu almost never changes and the place is always packed because they've really worked out dishes that are delish and don't rely on innovation to prompt your palate. Full of northern Italian staple fare, hand made pasta, and a solid Italian wine list.

Perfetto!

It's hard to imagine that there's a better Italian restaurant than Sotto Sotto in Atlanta. Every course of our dinner was outstanding! Our AntiPasti selection was the Caprese Salad, and it was perfectly proportioned for our table of 3. Delicious in season heirloom tomatoes and house made mozzarella made this a memorable choice. We each chose a different 1st course, having the Tortelli Michelangelo, the Papardelle with duck, and the Cacio Pepe Spaghetti. The Tortelli Michelangelo, their signature dish, was the consensus choice as best of the best. We finished with their house made gelato and a spoon fight broke out over our chosen flavors - pistachio, banana pudding and amaretto. The atmosphere is casual and the tables are close, but this didn't impede good conversation at our table. Our service by multiple servers was experienced and attentive. And our dinner was very reasonably priced for the quality of the dining experience. The only difficulty we had was in locating the restaurant; it's very easy to pass by, but a quick call helped us find it. We hope to return for another great dinner soon!

One of the best italian place in Atlanta

By martinsancristobal |

Excellent food, great wine list and a fantastic atmosphere. Probably one of the best Italian restaurant in the city of Atlanta, Sotto Sotto is pure delight. Their home made pasta is outstanding and the many times we have been there we had a great dining experience. Great option for Inman Park Restaurant Week.

Great food and service. Try the veal chop...

By BAHuston3 |

We had a great business dinner at Sotto. We dined on the back patio. This was a very nice setting. Service was excellent. Jeff did a fine job. We shared the seared scallop and all had the half portion of a pasta dish. The risotto, lasagna and tagliatelle were all delicious. We all got the veal chop in mushroom sauce. This is one of the best veal chops I have ever had. Very tender. The wine list is all Italian wines. There is a $30 corkage charge if you want to bring your own wine. There is a full bar in the restaurant. Enjoy.

Italian perfection

Our dinner at Sotto Sotto was hands down our best meal in Atlanta. If you are looking for huge portions of red-sauce Italian dishes with checkered table cloths, this is definitely not the place. Instead, Sotto Sotto is a surprising large restaurant with an elegant take on Italian cuisine. They know how to make cocktails here. Negronis, Manhattans, and after diner espresso martinis were all excellent. We started our meal with a shared plate of simple fava beans and small chunks excellent pecorino cheese. Our Caesar salad was large enough to share for four, and appropriately garlicky. The pasta here is prepared at an expert level. My wife's tortelli were stuffed with flavorul meat and served with a sage butter sauce just like in Bologna. My daughter-in-law enjoyed her large tubes of paccheri in a spicy tomato sauce like you would find in Tuscany. I am often disappointed by restaurant made risotto, but my son-in-law assured me that it was terrific here. He was correct: it was one of the best seafood risotto I've ever had in America. The rice was perfectly al-dente and tasted like with was lovingly cooked by an expert in Venice. My stepson enjoyed with roasted fish, but kept taking bites of my flavorful risotto. A modestly priced white wine from Liguria was a perfect complement for his meal I would highly recommend Sotto Sotto as an authentic Italian dinning experience. Excellent food without the cost of an airline ticket.

Best Italian in Atlanta

Sotto Sotto has excellent northern Italian food. The items are far more than the usual (rather boring) options. The pastas are innovative and very tasty. Good appetizers. Substantial wine list (not really cheap). Good cocktails, many of which are unusual. The chocolate soup is a real dessert treat. Absolutely excellent service. The sign on the restaurant is a little hard to see.

Came here for mom's 80th birthday dinner. Great Service and food. The waiter brought my dad a cushioned seat and was really attentive. He's 88 and mom turned 80. Excellent service and atmosphere. I had arugula and roasted beet salad, but I like my garden's peppery arugula. Personal taste. I enjoyed a 1/2 portion of the tasty risotto with 12-year old balsamic and onions. Very tender and moist. Perfecto. For dessert, I had gelato. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Excellent!!!

It was an absolutely miserable experience...

By Haddie944 |

Haven't been there in years, but we were going for a family dinner (4 adults and 2 children - 9yr & 5yr) to celebrate my son's birthday and everyone wanted good italian. Given it's not exactly the most family friendly place, we tried to be thoughtful and made our reservation at 5:45 on a Sunday. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated poorly. When approaching the "hostess stand" (if thats what you call it given its location mid restaurant in the bar), we were asked to "move behind her" so as not to block the door. We waited for our table for while waitstaff dodged around us. When finally sat, our waitress appeared, started pouring water and spilled all over my mother's sweater and pants. She half-heartedly apologized, then disappeared without offering a towel or anything to help dry her off. After reappearing, our waitress seemed slightly annoyed and was a bit sharp in her tone. We proceeded to order drinks, which was more complicated than it should have been - 10 minutes later 2 of the 4 came out on their own, incorrect (straight up vs on the rocks and short vs tall) the other 2 followed later. We then ordered our meals and began to wait. The restaurant had filled up during that time and we began to notice that our waitress was spending most of her time with 2 ladies sitting behind us, who in poor manner, had hung their bike helmets on the the tree/terrace decor. Runners slowly brought food out to her tables while she socialized. Finally at 7:15, with no food yet, my husband went inside to find someone to help. 10 minutes following that, all of the adults food showed up, including the appetizers we ordered, but there was no food for my children. We sat for another 5 minutes when a runner brought out a bowl of pasta for 1. I told him that it was supposed to be split for two, so he took it back to the kitchen. Then the last straw - our waitress came running out of the kitchen with two smaller HOT plates and struck my 5yr old son smack dap in the face/head with the hot plate. That was the absolute last straw. I lost it and gave her a piece of my mind as I carried my injured and crying child out of the restaurant on his birthday and the remainder of the family followed. The entire experience was AWFUL. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They have always been a bit snotty and have a reputation of not being the warmest place to eat, but it has really gone down hill. I will NEVER go there again.

Loved the Risotto w/fungi

By Robert F |

Went to Sotto Sotto on a recommendation for being authentic Italian. Very nice atmosphere and got crowded quickly. Glad I had a reserv. And we had a very good dinner. Started with an Italian meat and cheese antipasto, follow with a wild mushroom risotto and had a veal chop. The antipasto, risotto were fantastic. The veal chop was suggested medium and came med. rare (only reason not given 5 star). The service was very good and dinner was casual and relaxing... I will come back.

A lovely meal

Me and my husband dined here Sunday night. We had a lovely meal. It was definitely authentic Italian cuisine, great service friendly atmosphere!!! loved the Decor and oh yeah we had a great dessert!

Out of this world!

By brentabbott9 |

This was possibly the best restaurant we've ever eaten at. We had a risotto dish and the funghi pasta for appetizers and they were wonderful. My wife had a pasta with duck and it was great. My entree was the veal chop and thus may be the best dish I've ever eaten in my entire life. For dessert, we had the bread pudding and chocolate soup, and they were delicious.

Amazing Italian food, service could be improved upon

By Tishi S |

Hubby and I went to Sotto Sotto recently with another couple. The food was amazing however the service could have been better. We weren't given bread plates initially and there was a huge lag in getting our drinks. We were constantly trying to catch a staff members eye to try and get service. Now for the good news. The food was amazing!! For starters we had the asparagus risotto, tortelli di Michelangelo Buonarroti and pappardelle al sugo d’anatra. All of them were delicious. My personal favorite was the pappardelle with duck ragu! My husband and I split the tagliata di manzo aka beef ribeye. It was great! It's a lot of meat so come hungry! Our friends ordered the lamb chop and they really enjoyed that dish as well! I can't remember the name of our dessert. It was a bread pudding of sorts. It was also delicious! Overall, great food that could be made better by more attentive service.

Very Disappointing!!

By Vicki R |

We have been to Sotto Sotto each time we visit Atlanta. It is one of my son's favorite restaurants so we booked a table to celebrate his graduation! We had a table of 6 and were sat at a round table close to the door. The air conditioning was blasting onto our table so we asked the waiter if he could turn it down. It seemed like it got worse so my husband then asked the manager to no avail. It was so bad that we had to wear our jackets as we ate our dinner. Even though it was clear to the manager and the waiter that we were miserable and asking multiple times nothing was done. We finished our dinner and left immediately. Needless to say we will not be back to Sotto Sotto! Very disappointing.

Good All Around

By MrsDennsity |

The Caesar salad was good (dressing on the side): crisp romaine, shaved Parmesan, toasted garlic. Pasta in browned butter and sage was really tasty (both dishes: all meats or sausage and apple). Chocolate soup was very enjoyable (and I don't tend towards sweets). Service was classic style with well timed follow up. Was able to catch up with a friend...... no mis-steps to distract. As a foodie, this was a nice visit in a new town. I would definitely go back!

Favorite Atlanta Restaurant

By zeraezell |

While located at the very edge of Atlanta's oldest neighborhood, Sotto-Sotto is anything but suburban. This Italian Restaurant is always guranteed to please. Whether dining on the lovely enclosed patio, or the minimalist decorated dining room, every aspect of this place works. Sotto-Sotto presents with wonderful cocktails, and an extensive and carefully chosen wine list. One can see the pasta being made in the kitchen, and is always perfectly prepared. There is also wonderful Risotto dishes. Course by course, each dish prepared to high standards. It is hard not to order your favorite time and again. There is a large, fish of the day, meant to be shared. A magnificent steak. And losts of seafoods. Pasta dishes can be ordered in appetizer size in case you cannot decide. The wait staff is extremely knowledgeable, suggesting the perfect wine for your dish, and immediately whisking away what needs to go. Dessert includes expresso's, a great collection of after dinner drinks, with great choice of Brandy and Sherry. Even the ubiqutious Sambucca with coffee beans. The most wonderful, a fabulous chocolate "soup". One can dine dressed for the theatre, or a late night neighborhood stroll in to have dessert. Truly an all around restaurant, welcoming all into the happy atmosphere.

Enjoyable Evening!

By patriciawK2458YI |

Nice, very charming restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy and looks to have a lot of locals. It was a cold night and the restaurant was a bit cold, but that was probably unusual. We had a cheese and meat plate that was really nice and large for the price. We had three pastas all of which were also good, although I think they could have used a tiny bit more kick. That may be personal taste as they were really nicely presented and were well prepared. The service was excellent. Prices while not cheap, were very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely go back when next in Atlanta.

The Pasta they make is worth the trip to this place. Very nice ambience and service is quite good. Always hear the suggestions, they are very good.

Love the small portion option

Had a very nice birthday dinner here and loved the mushroom risotto, Michaelangelo raviolis, and the lasagna. I was treated to the chocolate soup for my birthday and LOVED it.

First time at Sotto Sotto.

By Mayor1976 |

First time at Sotto Sotto. Being with a large group, we had a fixed menu which turned out great. Had a chance to try several of their dishes. The wait staff was very attentive and never allowed anyone’s wine glass to go empty. For me, I prefer a non-alcoholic beer which they had. I would recommend this place if you are wanting Italian

Delicious!

By blondeinabmw |

I'd wanted to try Sotto Sotto for many years after glowing recommendations from friends and colleagues. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. The wine list is extensive, yet approachable. Our server was friendly and attentive, with very good recommendations. The caprese appetizer was light and delicious (though I was really hoping for Proscuitto and Melone, which wasn't on the list that night and is my absolute favorite antipasti option! We shared a primi portion of the Risotto Mantecato, which was so rich with caramelized onion and balsamic risotto and was absolutely delightful. I can admit that I wanted to lick the bowl. For entrees, my husband decided to try to the Tortelli di Michaelango, a veal and sage ravioli in brown butter sauce. The portion wasn't huge, but was certainly enough. Very good flavor. I loved my Strozzapreti, which was so flavorful, but a little heavy on the sauce for my liking. The sausage was great though. We could've split a secondi entree, but wanted to save some space for the much-touted dessert. I had to try the chocolate soup. It was really rich, and to be honest, half that portion would've been plenty. My husband's gelato was better - and I love chocolate. The stracciatella had what I can only assume was marscapone in it, giving it a very slight tang. The hazelnut was fabulous - not too sweet, not too bitter. The pistachio was among the best I've ever tasted with a buttery nuttiness and distinct pistachio flavor. Superb. We definitely will be back. All in all, I felt the experience was great. Our food was quick to arrive, which normally is a plus, but we were really hoping to recreate the authentic Italian slow dining experience. The food certainly was authentic - even better, actually, and service was wonderful. I didn't feel rushed, but the food was so fast to the table and fantastic, we gobbled it up! Price-wise, it was a very good value - not too expensive, yet felt special.

Casual Bar Dinner

I looked up Italian restaurant sin Atlanta and Sotto Sotto came up high on the list. I reserved a table but decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was attentive and the tortelli was fantastic! Cooked like Italian should be!

Best Italian in atlanta

By Shane Pants |

My friend and I have been trying to find the best Italian food. We have been trying since last year. So fair out of 19 places sotto sotto is number one! The pasta is made fresh daily. The sauces and light creamy and beyond lovely. Also save room for dessert they have real Italian desserts as well.

Great dinner, good value

By Rick P |

Good Italian food. Lots of variety on the menu, much of which would fall under what I would consider "authentic" Italian. I ordered the lamb ragu which was excellent. Great wine list--nothing but Italian wines. That's the way I think it should be. Far too often I go to Italian restaurants and the wine list is full of California reds and a couple of Italian wines hidden somewhere. Overall I think the prices were a pretty good value. Entrees are all under $20. Service was also very good. Our server stayed on top of everything. I would certainly return.

Excellent Italian Food with a Neighborhood feel

By J Person |

We were visiting offspring in Atlanta, and this was her choice. It is located in a nice walkable neighborhood. You will need to valet somewhere. Sotto Sotto has valet parking, but we never found it, parking across the street ($10). I would recommend you get to the neighborhood early and enjoy the ambience of the various bars. We had a reservation, but they were busy and it was a few minutes before we were seated. We hung out in the bar area. The tables are snug against each other, and it was nicely lit (although inexplicably lights went up and down once or twice). The menu has a nice range of choices. There were three of us, and we shared two appetizers and each had a main course. The food is uniformly excellent. The bufala appetizer with peppers was three small crescents with sliced peppers. A little bite, but very flavorful. We then tried the tuna bresaola, three thin slices of tuna, with greens. Again, not a large plate, but nicely seasoned and we scraped the plate. It was accompanied by a flat bread (like pizza crust), with oil, to sop up anything that might have remained. Again, each of us had our own main course. I had the pappardelle with duck, wonderfully rich, made with fresh pasta. I loved every bite, and there were nice sized chunks of duck. My daughter had the bucatini, which was spaghetti with a red sauce and other seasonings, also nicely done, if rustic. Lastly, my spouse had the mushroom risotto, finishing nicely with strong mushroom flavors. None of these portions were large, but they were all beautifully prepared. We did have a bottle of wine with the meal, not cheap at $65. Service was excellent--with helpful advice and quick responses. I would certainly go back--excellent and interesting Italian food.

Strozzapreti Alla Salsiccia Priest Strangler Pasta!!!

By soitgoes14 |

I finally had a chance to try Sotto Sotto during inman park restaurant week. They offer valet, but we were able to find street parking nearby. Our reservation was for 7pm and we arrived at 7pm. We were seated right away. They bring out some bread and oil for you to snack on. They have an extensive wine list to choose from. I did not see a cocktail menu but noticed they did have liquor at the bar. The service throughout the night was excellent. Attentive with good suggestions when asked. Our waters remained filled throughout the evening. I had the Fava bean salad ( Fave e Pecorino) to start. It was … well I would not recommend it. It was okay the cheese it was served with was good but it was pretty plain and not that exciting. The Caesar salad was better but nothing special. We both opted for the Priest Stangler pasta dish for our dinner. It is the Strozzapreti alla Salsiccia on the menu. It was FANTASTIC. The sweet sausage ragu was delicious and the pasta was so good. Highly Recommended. They knock it out of the park with that dish. For Dessert I had their Hazelnut Gelato and it was exceptionally tasty while my fiancé had their chocolate soup. She loved it as well. All in all our experience was very nice and I’d be happy to go back and try more of their pasta dishes and would love to try some of their Secondi dishes too. They do a great job here from the food to the service.

Don't pass this place up! Awesome food and staff!

By sunshine_warrior |

Wow! Wait staff awesome! I will say we were part of a large party, but I even heard others talking of how good the staff and service was. We had several dishes. A few to mention. Mussels were outstanding!!! Do not pass these up! The cheese platter another great dish. Salads were good. We did have a private party so we had a lot of attention, but the wait staff was extremely friendly and professional and when asked about some of the dinner items very informed. The tagliatelle ai funghi, Michelangelo veal, risotto prutti di mane and polleto al limon were all outstanding.

Great food, lots of charm, excellent service!

Great dinner and really cute restaurant if you are looking for something with character and charm! Everyone is our group loved our pasta dishes, the tomatoes and mozzarella was very fresh. Wonderful service! Would highly recommend if you are visiting ATL!

Delicious Italian food!

By Alex K |

This restaurant has a nice selection of wines and great Italian food. The service is excellent. We had a few appetizers which were awesome but the entrees is where this place shined. The restaurant accommodated my two kids which is always a big plus for us. Excellent atmosphere. Make sure to make reservations in advance as it tends to pack up during dinner time.

Overrated

By WSU1986 |

Well, thought to try somewhere "posh" for my birthday - disappointed. First off, had to sit with my husband's jacket on during the meal as AC was too cold - no difference at any table. Waiter did not introduce himself or really try to make us feel welcome. Bread with olive oil to dip was actually cold. Started with the steamed mussels which were the highlight of the meal. Took forever to get the salads (husband's Caesar was over dressed - my beet salad was OK). Then, another forever to have main courses served. Husband's steak was OK - overpriced for the quality. My Lasagneghette was greasy. Valet parking is validated. The only other plus.

The pasta is great here. The restaurant is a little small and the spacing right, but the food is worth it. The bread is fresh. The mushroom pasta is the best.

Date Night rediscovered

By C.D. |

My wife and I had a dinner without the kids; every aspect of the meal was on target. This is a small european style restaurant (don't expect large tables or chairs) with excellent service. We bounced all over the menu and it was fantastic. Valet park or use Uber. Arrive early as the seating area was packed by 7 p.m. Well worth the money and we will keep it on our short list of restaurants we would visit again.

Good Experience -- Again

By GPBurdell67 |

We hadn't been to Sotto Sotto in several years (just too much of a hassle to get there from our place) but our out-of-town family wanted to go, so we made a reservation. We were taken in immediately and seated at a nice table. Good Italian bread and olive oil followed soon thereafter. We ordered the antipasto tray, which had good quality cheeses, meats and olives. Our entrees ranged from the Michelangelo pasta (from a 1600s recipe), risotto with wild mushrooms, gnocchi, tuna to scallops. All were quite good and plates were wiped clean. The Caesar salad was good if a little heavy on the dressing. Finally, the "chocolate soup" and chocolate/Grand Marnier gelato were a sweet finish to our dinner. Service was friendly and professional.

Excellent Italian dining

By Geert B |

We visited SottoSotto on a hot april evening in Atlanta and had made a reservation for an outside table. This rather small terrace has no views and no particular atmosphere but was OK for delicious outside dining. We shared three antipasti: vongole, coquilles and bresaola and each was very well done. The taste of each ingredient was very well maintained, something that often goes wrong in American Italian food. The main course consisted of lasagnetta al ragu, bucantini all' amatriciana and risotto ai funghi. Everything very well done. The vino santo with bischotti was a delicious end of an excellent meal.

Check the weather and seating if it's cold!

By Carl A |

The food is good with a lot of the orientation towards pasta. Our party declared the priest stranglers and lasagna as the winners. One important thing to be aware of in the cold weather is that a majority of the tables are essentially outside on a back patio with some shelter and gas patio heaters. We went on a particularly cold night and were uncomfortable even keeping on winter coats so if you are making a reservation you might want to confirm an inside table or reschedule.

Wonderful Experience

By Nysaao |

Great place, food and service was wonderful. Atmosphere in the patio was perfect. Not much else to say but I'll be back next time I'm in town.

Nice atmosphere, good food.

By TAP647 |

Nice atmosphere, good food. Tables for 2 are very close to one another, so you will hear the conversation of the tables on either side of you. Be prepared. Service is good. Food is good too. Atmosphere is nice. You won’t be disappointed, but you may not be wowed. Overall, it’s a nice dining experience.

Delicious!!

By Rachelld66 |

We made reservations for 5:45 and got there right on time and were seated. The meal from start to finish was absolutely delicious-the flavors were amazing. We did not realize we were going during restaurant week but that had no impact on our selections or the quality of the food. The service was professional and good. The only draw back for me was the barely 12 inches between the tables along the wall-takes away from the experience.

Great Italian Food

This is a restaurant that we have not been to lately but always enjoy. We went with a big group before the Eagles concert and they were very accomadating. The service and food were awesome.

Beyond excellent

By Tom S |

If there is a superlative beyond excellent, Sotto Sotto deserves it! Every authentic Italian dish was perfectly prepared and delicious. Our servers were always attentive and provided prompt service for every request. The restaurant was filled with patrons, but the noise level was a low hum; it certainly didn't impede us from having great conversation at our table of 6. We were there to celebrate a big day for our son, and Sotto Sotto made his day that much more memorable. Grazie Sotto Sotto!
