Wonderful Pizza.

By courtsidefan |

Little bit out of the way since in Harlem but well worth it. The pizza is excellent here. I’m not so sure I’d give it the best ever vote but it is really good. The crust is so good and the taste excellent but a little too thin in the main part. They make them so fast, in my opinion too fast and that’s why their so thin. Really felt rushed eating at this restaurant. Top quality for the ingredients used. Overall an excellent pizza. I think one trip was enough to this spot.

Over The Top

By Travelmiz |

Wow! We felt like we had been transported back to Italy. The ambiance is perfect with outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. The servers were over the top. The food- fabulous!!!! A true treasure!!

Perfect Pizza!!!

By Marcus R |

This was our third Italian restaurant in 5 days and I'm happy we found it. We started with a special focaccia appetizer, which was a meal in itself, and each ordered a pizza. I had the Diavolo and it was very tasty. Appetizers and meals are very generous and we left with enough for breakfast today. The restaurant was very noisy, but not in an irritating way. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Prices are good and you won't be disappointed. If we get back to New York, Sottocasa will be on our list of places to eat.

Best pizza in town I guess

By Charles S |

Really love their pizza! The best pizza for me! Also want to mention how friendly the staff are. You guys are doing a great job!

Real Napoli Style.

By Mark H |

No reservations taken. Don’t worry Have a glass of red at the bar and you will be quickly seated even at 9 pm on a Friday Night Good attentive service. Beetroot and cheese shared starter. Great Napoli pizza. Good anchovies. Good reasonably priced Italian wines. Cannonau de Sardegna $ 42. No room for dessert.

Take out

By William D |

Was delighted to find sottocasa did take out, ordered a pizza margherita to go, really friendly staff offered me water while I was waiting, pizza arrived within a matter of minutes, lovely tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil leaves and baked to perfection

Just Amazing Pizza

By vjz1115 |

Had an amazing time at Sottocasa. The pizza is thin crust Neapolitan. A couple dozen different choices in a no frills but comfortable street level location. Service is efficient but friendly. I dare you not to order more than one pizza because after you have one you will want another.

forget it

By dmitry2009 |

terrible experience. ordered online, they said the wait time was over 1 hour. the reviews were good, so decided to still go ahead with the order. when they were 30 min late ( so 1,5 hours after I placed the order), i called them in - they could not care less, said it was a mass that day ! the order arrived, finally, one hour late, so 2 hours wait time in total. they could not care less, when I complained to them, they basically said that they are sorry - but sounded like they were not. the pizza was of course cold at that stage. what a terrible experience - will never order from them again

Authentic Italian-style pizza

By JohntheFinn |

Good but unobtrusive service with an Italian accent. I had gone looking for a New York-style pizza but I can't complain - this restaurant's dish was up to Italian standards. Nice atmosphere, not overdone.

Go here!

By Patricia K |

Go here! The quattro stagioni pizza was great, the watermelon salad (which was a special) was refreshing and the gelato desserts were delicious. Service was perfect.

It comes from the Gowanus

By Alexis D |

Ample Hills has two locations that I know of; one in Brooklyn Bridge Park and the other near the Gowanus. Service is excellent at both. The Gowanus location has a greater selection, great rooftop seating and pretty awesome social vibe (from hordes of customers). All the flavors are awesome. Serving sizes are generous. The kids love it. Nonadees oatmeal lace is cinnamon ice ream with chunks of lace oatmeal cookies. "It came from the Gowanus" is just so apt. Love it !!!

Very Enjoyable Family Dinner!

By Phil S |

Great service and very good pizza. Had two little ones with us and staff was very accommodating. Seating in small family dining area in the rear of restaurant. Girls were served quickly and provided coloring items so were very happy while adults had a cocktail and ordered. Only thing worth mentioning is crust on bottom of pizza is moist and very pliable making eating a slice difficult. Ingredients tended to slide off pizza. Not a complaint - just an observation and warning - as eating became a tad messy. Otherwise, very good flavors, fresh ingredients and attentive service. Will return.

Very tasty pizza

By clarey_oo1 |

Our pizzas were delicious, light base, tasty toppings and the atmosphere was relaxed. Easily some of the best pizzas we've tasted. However, we both felt like the service let the experience down slightly so we can't give 5/5, it could definitely have been friendlier. We almost felt like we were an inconvenience, which was strange and didn't match the standard of the food. Sorry!

Yummy pizza!

By andy y |

Portion sizes are generous and the pizza is good too! Definitely a great casual neighborhood spot when you want a nice meal.

Great Pizza

By KAStein |

Wonderful pizza, my son had the Margherita and I had the Gluten Free Marinara, it was all delicious. It is hard to find good Gluten Free pizza, worth the trip over to Brooklyn! I sometimes find NY pizza greasy, this was not greasy at all. Will be back and recommend to others!

Dinner between friends!

By Tarrida |

We were walking around Brooklyn looking for a restaurant to have dinner in and then caught sight of this one. We got welcomed by the manager immediately and then sat down. We all ordered pizzas and they were all amazing- it was like being in Italy. The pizzas were proper homemade and therefore delicious. The manager was very kind as well and with the food, the atmosphere and the music, the whole restaurant gave a very good vibe! Well done to the manager and all the staff, and to everyone else, it’s definitely worth the visit👏🏽

Best pizza ever

By DawnKMichigan |

While visiting, my husband and I were in search of some great New York pizza. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! My husband enjoyed the prosciutto pizza which was outstanding. I had a cheese pizza. We also enjoyed the focaccia bread with olive oil. Very fun atmosphere and nice decor. additionally, the pizzas were done rather quickly. Needless to say we had no leftovers to take back to our hotel. And we been here another day we probably would've gone back for more.

Awesome authentic Italian pizza

By LTVDeAngelis |

Hands down one of the best brick oven pizza joints in America. Hats off to the owners and cooks. Amazing all the way around. Great staff, great food and a great price.

Delicious

By Jill |

We had a party of 11 and the staff was extremely accommodating. Very friendly! Delicious pizza and salad!! Great local and Italian beers!! Small little hidden gem in Brooklyn!!

Excellent brick-oven pizza, very fast, a bit pricy.

By Karl H |

The pizzas were ready shockingly fast, and were delicious. Their pizzas are one size, which is about 1.5 servings, i.e. bigger than a usual small pizza. Bonus points for understanding the Restaurant's name.

Delicious Neapolitan pizza

By Bklynight |

Delicious Neapolitan pizza I lived in Naples for many years and every time I go to Soto cause I feel like I’m back in Naples eating my favorite type of pizza!

Excellent pizzas

By Jean-Yves M |

This restaurant on Atlantic Avenue, typically Italian, like its very welcoming boss, offers mainly antipasti and pizzas. These, quite numerous on the map, are excellent. The fine dough is very refined, and generously garnished. The rates are more than reasonable. Don't hesitate, go ahead.

Last night in NYC

By Go793705 |

My family and I visited this place on our last night and were really pleased with our choice of Pizzeria. I had a superb spicy Calzone pizza followed by an equally tasty tiramisu. My kids had margaritas and my wife the gluten free base - all really tasty. Nice choice of beers too, although these were quite pricey (then again, what's not in New York!!) One note of caution though - those seeking wider Italian menus should think again- other than starters, its pizzas only here.

Pre concert dinner

By Nomad320822 |

Great little Italian place close to the Barclays Center. Stopped here before a concert hoping to get a table and were greeted with warmth and friendliness. They managed to squeeze us in even though it was super busy! Great authentic pizza and nice wines too!

A great gluten-free pizza option on Atlantic

By Rex Havoc |

Convenient to F train and has a bus stop at the front door. i especially like the tables in the greenhouse out back. They also don't mind if you practice your Italian as you order. And did I mention the food is great? Always a treat.

Cozy, low key atmosphere - delicious pizza!

By touristical |

Went with friends on an early Saturday evening. Good service and food. Cool neighborhood with shops and bars. I would return.

Really delicious pizza with perfect crust.

By DoroB |

Simply the best pizza we've found in this area of Brooklyn. Crust is not too salty and varieties of pizza are really good. Have been here twice, will definitely go again.

Brooklyn Pizza

By Richard |

Sottocasa has some of the best of New York pizza. An ideally-sized meal at this venue can cost around $25-$30

Italian cuisine in New York

By Andrea S |

Small but very welcoming place, they do not accept reservations. Excellent pizza just the way we Italians like it. Exquisite desserts, I absolutely recommend the tiramisu.

Evening Meal with Family

By Purpleclare72 |

Great restaurant. Excellent food, lively yet pleasant atmosphere, friendly and obliging staff. Highly recommended.

Birra! Saluti!

By JW |

Birra! Saluti! Truly, Sotto! Casa! I just started writing reviews. First, I love exploring all types of beers. And, I am a mechanical wheelchair user. I was searching for Italian restaurants for my wife. I first saw the front of the restaurant on Google maps. It didn’t appeal to me. I noticed only pizza & perhaps the challenge of going in since I am a mechanical wheelchair user. So, I continued to swipe. Days later, we were walking back to our hotel in Brooklyn, in the evening. When, unlooked-for, we spotted Sottocasa in the evening. I was surprised to see how charming this place was as we stood in front of it. You first have to go some steps to get to the entrance & its steep for a mechanical wheelchair user. So, my family went in to order some pizza, you have to have pizza if you are in New York, to take back to the hotel. I waited outside. My wife brought me the menu. And guess what got my attention? The selection of Italian beers! The real deal! The pizza was delicious, no surprise there. The place is more charming than the images in the internet. It’s one of those places that makes NYC special. Not a tourist trap, but this hole in the wall. In this case, a hole underground. That becomes magical inside, like being in Italy. I don’t know if there is a restaurant with the selection of Italian beers they have. I couldn’t go in to try the beers but its ok. Some things are not meant to be. I would rather have the restaurant keep its charm than change it for a wheelchair user like me. Oh! Guess what? The woman behind the counter, with an Italian accent, wanted to find a way to get me in, no surprise there which is a NYC trait many don’t know. At over 600 pds. & steep, its not meant to be. Mangiare! mangiare! e saluti!

Pizza perfecta

By Damon F |

Loved this easily overlooked Pizza restaurant in Brooklyn. Starters, mains and desserts washed down with a beer in a frosted glass. I tried a white (no sauce) pizza for the first time, a Radicchio with spicy sausage it was great and not dry at all. My colleague who doesn't eat products with egg in them had a tasty salad that surprised him how good it was. Thoroughly recommended.

Yum! Great pizza, great service.

By sonseekers |

Love this place. We got a nice bottle of wine suggested by the waiter. We tried 3 different pizzas: the burrata special (only available Fri, Sat, and Sun), a white pizza and a spicy red. All were amazing. Crust was airy and perfect with the right amount of toppings. We were stuffed but had to try the Nutella dessert pizza and it too was wonderful. Not overly sweet and again with the perfect crust. Would definitely return.

The best pizza period

By Randy S |

We were on a walking tour into Brooklyn and wanted to try the NY style pizza. I read about Sottacasa and we made our way there. There was a foodie tour there when we arrived. The restaurant is cozy and the staff was super friendly. We needed a little help with the menu andwith some help, we chose wisely.. Definitely worth the walk. NY style thin crust is just as good as I have been told.

Bit disappointed

By London_foodies |

We had high expectations on their pizzas, having read the reviews, but were disappointed. The calzone was half empty and the pizza with anchovies was burnt and had way too much toppings, which was too salty. The tiramisu was good though and service was fine.

Was worth the trip!

By _debtab123 |

The apps and pizza were really worth the trip. the ingredients were extremely fresh the service was great. I would recommend you make the trip!

Pizza from 10 and praise with hospitality and sympathy out of the ordinary!

By ernesto c |

Pizza of 10 and praise, better than those usually found in Rome and Italy in general. Very nice Italian waiter, from Modena, if I remember correctly. Nice lady, kind and also beautiful who runs, also Italian. It feels like Italy in New York, with prices below the average of American ones and with exceptional pizza quality. Highly recommended!

Fantastic pizza!

By Brady W |

I was in Brooklyn attending a conference and wanted to find a local pizzaria for a quick dinner after a long day - and I found a gem with this restaurant. The service was fantastic - very thoughtful and attentive. I immediately felt like a local soaking up the quaint atmosphere and neighborhood feel. The guests at the table next to me spoke Italian which even added to the great vibe! The pizza I ordered was delicious - prosciutto and sage - yes, sage. That was a new topping for me on a pizza and it was delicious! After enjoying the whole pizza I couldn’t resist the tiramisu - obviously this was an old family recipe that was delicious! Great meal, terrific environment and must visit if your looking for quaint local Italian restaurant. Thanks TripAdvisor for helping me find another great restaurant.

Delicious Pizza

By JPro |

So glad to have found this cozy restaurant. Very welcoming staff, and the pizzas (wood-fired) were delicious. We were seated fairly quickly, despite the restaurant being full. Ordered a carafe of wine, which was delicious and fairly priced. Would definitely go back.

Terrific pizzeria

By SuperM0n |

We selected Sottocasa because of the proximity to where we were staying and the great reviews here. It didn’t let us down. We started off with the Tagliere (Italian cheeses and cured meat with focaccia), which was a meal in itself. The cheeses were different and yummy. We also had the Quattro Stagioni pizza, which was delightful. We wish we had enough room for the Nutella pizza. The table next to us had it and it looked divine.

Amazing pizza neapolitana!

By Olesia R |

This Neapolitana pizza is the best in Brooklyn and might be in NYC as well. Fresh ingredients, crusty thin crust. Yummy!

Solid Pizza and nice vibe

By Lars F |

I always enjoy visiting Sottocasa, it's one of my go-to's for pizza in my neighborhood. I like their neapolitan style pie, which they make a little more 'wet' than other places. The service is friendly and the ambience is warm.

If You LOVE Pizza...

By miercoles b |

If you LOVE pizza then look no further than Sottocasa!!! As soon as you step inside this place you know you’ve made the right choice!! The restaurant is super CUTE and the ambience is super PERFECT!! My mother and I stopped in to grab some pizzas to go and we were helped by the owner Mari. She is super cute and Italian just like the restaurant. She was sooo nice and patient with me as I kept changing my order. And boy is she quick as a whip. She was seating people, taking my order, bar tending, and passing out to go orders, and managing the restaurant, all at the same time WITHOUT missing a beat!! My mother and I were in awe just watching her. Now about those pizzas....BEST I’VE EVER HAD (and I’ve had a lot of pizza)!!! Sottocasa is EVERYTHING you’d expect from a GREAT pizza place in Brooklyn (or anywhere)!!!

Great pizza!

By Jennifer F |

Our family of four dined here last weekend and we went because of the good reviews. The pizza was outstanding, we split two (one margherita and one with mushrooms, onion and I believe fontina or gorgonzola...can't remember, but it was delicious) and we also had a calzone. We were really hungry! In our opinion, the pizza was far superior to the calzone. We also had a beet salad and it's so big, that two adults and two children could easily split it! We were a little bit disappointed in the service. Everyone was very nice, and it was a busy night, but we would have purchased more drinks if asked! The food came out really, really fast, which was great if you were hungry like we were! Cute, little pizza place in NYC...perfect for our first night there. Not a bad walk to the Brooklyn Bridge which we did after dinner!

Delicious pizza in charming setting

By Hadley K |

The pizza here is great—interesting combinations for delicious results. If it's warm enough, I recommend sitting in the backyard

Somewhat different, wood burning oven, Italian pizza.

By ofanoa |

Sottocassa pizzeria. A Michelin’s Bib Gourmand restaurant in my neighborhood, I had to try it. Google map on and I am on my way. Missed it twice… 🤷‍♂️. Pretty unassuming, on a lower level. Stepping down from the pavement, was a little little piece of Italy with, a wood burning oven and the music to match. I went for the Tartufata Pizza: Mozzarella, home-made Truffle Spread, Mushrooms, Prosciutto di Parma and Basil. Staring with a watermelon salad while waiting for it to bake. The Watermelon salad with Feta, basil and balsamic was nice and refreshing. The pizza had an interesting wood burned thin soft crust. “Eat it with a knife and a fork” I was told. “It’s not an American pizza…”. At the end I thought it was pretty interesting, somewhat different, though I had better 🤷‍♂️.

My 2nd Go-to Place

By Beany_from_Brooklyn |

Let me explain..... When I can not get into the "other place" I go here. They are friendly, clean and create great pizza. Because of the lines at the "other place" I eat here more often.

Quality pizza

By Cassandra D |

The pizza was fresh and flavorful, plus the staff was so kind! They made sure we enjoyed our meal and left happy!

Awesome

By Rishad |

Pizza was fresh, hot and awesome. Sit on the back covered patio for a more romantic feel. Staff was very friendly.

Amazing Pizza with Fresh Cheeses

By Nicole S |

My colleagues and I ate lunch at Sottocasa during our stay in Brooklyn for training. EVERYONE loved the pizza they ordered. Absolutely delicious with the fresh cheeses and herbs. The atmosphere was very cozy and the service was great, too. You must eat there while in Brooklyn!

Excellent pizza and service

By Cruisin_n_r_b |

We were delighted to arrive at 7:00 pm on a Friday and score a table without waiting. My husband and I started with a couple of bottles of the Menabrea, split a caprese salad and finished with a pizza. We've been to a couple of those Brooklyn pizza places where you wait in line for like an hour - and the pizza at Sottocasa was every bit as good as those - worth waiting for - but didn't have to! The crust was excellent - and I lived how generous they were with the artichokes. Ambiance was lovely, the place was lively, the service excellent - you should give!

Oh yes; real pizza

By Troels J |

This almost hidden gem of an Italian restaurant is well worth a visit. Amazing thin crusted, wood fired and so tasty pizzas plus nice Italian craft beer and the nicest staff you can imagine. There is really nothing wrong except they have focaccia bread on the menu and it is nothing but a pizza without tomato sauce. Do not order focaccia bread and this place is amazing for pizza lovers.

Was very tasty, enjoyed a quick meal!

By Visidigi |

Nice fresh ingredients, authentically cooked - the service was as good as was the draught beer. We were a walk in, but we were accommodated easily and we were in and out within the hour for a early night to rest our weary feet. Worked out well and left full - can see why its popular on TA!

Lunch with the Brooklyn Family

By senioritcitizen |

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant, from how well treated you are by the staff, to the great food prepared and served there. We started off with their cheese and meat platter, followed by an eggplant pizza, a margharita pizza, and a calzone. For four people this allowed for a small amount of take-home tastes for the next day.

Best pizza ever.

By restoduventre |

I'm not exagerating saying it! Truely the best pizza place i've ever been. Italian sausage, mushroom, mozzarella! Delightful! My friend took the truffle one. She just loved it! Kind staff. Not easy to find but great place.

Not to be missed!

By clouseau_7 |

Authentic Italian Pizza...That's why you may have to wait and wait...but it is worth every minute of it...Sooo delicious and fresh. Very friendly little pizzeria. It's my favourite stop every time I am in the hood!

Excellent real Italian style pizza

By davetheguide |

We were staying at a nearby hotel and were so pleased with our dinner here. It's a tiny place with a wonderful local vibe. The pizza was fantastic, but think Naples and not NYC. Real Italian style pizza. Simple and delicious. Highly recommended.

The BEST Gluten Free Pizza Ever

By machugas |

I don’t know how they made this gf crust but I wish I lived around the corner from here. Soft, chewy with a satisfying bite. Seriously. I got the one who’s name I cannot remember - tomato sauce, carmelized onion, pancetta, romano & basil. I am telling you - all other pizzas will now be compared to this. Oh, and my family loved the full gluten version as well!

Excellent food and great service

By Rik Van Vliet |

Excellent pizza, delicious tiramisu and Great pizza a la Nutella. This is the best place In Brooklyn. If you want to eat pizza I recommend this place. Also The best service in New York.👍🏻

Fab pizza and other dishes

By Harvey C |

There are only a few outside tables but they called me as one freed up and we had a drink down the street. We felt very welcomed by the front staff and they were extremely helpful with the menu. The pizza has great crust and ingredients. We had a fab red and white pizza with ricotta. I can’t say enough. They were very sweet and put out a great product outside!

Absolutely Awesome1

By sharrongeg |

Great place! Came here based on TripAdvisor reviews - and it is certainly a hidden gem. Super nice staff, very reasonable prices and excellent food. Located near our hotel (Hilton in Brooklyn), this small family owned and run restaurant was exactly what we love to find. Italian sausage pizza was $19, but worth $30. Highly reccomend.

Really nice hole-in-the-wall vibe. Great pizza and great service.

By Darrel Hamilton |

Sottocasa is a little hidden pizza treasure in Harlem. It's spectacularly authentic and took me right back to studying abroad in Italy. We ordered the focaccia bread with spicy garlic oil and olives as a starter. It was wonderful, but the true star was obviously the pizza. Ours had red sauce, mozzarella, spicy pepperoni, and olives. EVERYTHING about that pizza was perfect, but I could've eaten that red sauce with a spoon. And to feed 2 people under $35 in New York is basically unheard of. The staff was so friendly and the decor is adorable. Whether you live in the city or are just visiting, I can't recommend Sottocasa enough.

Love Their Pizza

By hereishome |

We had eaten at the location in Harlem several times on other visits, and were excited to try this location when we learned about it! We arrived shortly before the kitchen closed, but we knew exactly what we wanted and ordered and were served promptly! As expected, the food was phenomenal and the service solid. We shared the Rughetta salad and each ordered our own pizza (there was no compromising here as we both knew what we were coming for). My pizza lasted for three meals! We will keep coming back!

Excellent-The Best

By Brian C. |

Not only GREAT pizza but the service and ambiance is fantastic. I’m in town on business and always look for somewhere new to eat, and Sottocasa lived up to the reviews. I had the marinara and it was awesome. The crust was thin and crisp and not burnt like some thin crust pizza, and the sauce and basil were fresh. One small criticism is I would have liked a little more basil and it chopped up a bit. Talk about speed - the pizza was out in under 10 minutes (probably under 8!). I devoured it. The restaurant has a cozy feel to eat that made it all the more enjoyable. WELL done Sottocasa!

Great, fast pizzeria with nice garden room

By Purrfect |

Wonderful service with lots of pizza choices as well as salads. Spinach salad was good and our pizza with hot Italian sausage, mushroom and basil was very flavorful. The lemon tart was also great

Really Great Neopolitan

By BuckeyePaulD |

Really good Neapolitan food. Our pizzas were delicious. Salads were good too with mixed greens. Ingredients were highest quality. Great selection of beers and wine. Very good service. The restaurant a real comfortable vibe. I would go again.

Experience about this restaurant

By VarlaMoss |

I went with my friends to eat in this restaurant because before I had recommended it to a family I did not think it was so good but after eating it not only surprised me how delicious it was but also the attention was very kind and paid attention to the needs it was a great experience we were able to smile a lot and appreciate the taste of those pizzas I hope to be able to go again with my relatives. the place was very careful and bright is located in a great place where anyone can easily reach I hope to meet the chef of this restaurant and I was impressed with their great pizzas which I do not think have tried elsewhere seem unique and peculiar.

Stellar pizza with a surprising beer list

By SadieLT |

We were in New York for a post-Thanksgiving holiday, staying in Brooklyn. My daughter wanted pizza for dinner, so we got to work on finding what we hoped would be a great spot. Once again, crowdsourcing did us right by directing us to Sottocasa. It's right on Atlantic Avenue, a few steps down from the street. The restaurant itself is sleek but warm with a small counter on the right. All the tables were taken, so we sat down at the counter and as it turns out were very glad we did so. The very cool server behind the counter was Marie, and she steered us in the right direction at every turn. We started with a Rughetta salad -- peppery arugula, bright cherry tomatoes, tasty artichokes, a tangy lemon dressing, all counterpointed perfectly with parmigiano. A great way to begin the meal. We had two pizzas. As a nod to the pre-teen, we got a simple Margherita. You know the drill here -- mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. But there can be dangers in simplicity -- if you don't have the right ingredients, cook at the right temperature, etc. you can really miss-hit. Not here though. What particularly seems to separate Sottocasa from almost any other pizza I've had is the dough. It's DELICIOUS. Fantastic flavor, ideal chew. This pizza was devoured, with my daughter coming up for air wondering if she could have more. We also got a Taleggio pizza. As you might expect, it had taleggio along with mozzarella, lending the slice a creaminess you don't otherwise get, along with the bite of a touch of parmigiano reggiano. The pie was topped with a delicious helping of prosciutto di parma and the right amount of basil. This was a perfectly thought-out, well-balanced pizza. I wish we lived in town so I could have it every week. The real secret weapon here is the beer list. If you are into that sort of thing (and I am), it contains about 25 Italian bottled microbrews. I've never seen any of them, and with what we were getting for food Marie suggested the Marechiaro. It's a pale lager with lots of malty notes, and it is highly drinkable. Just an ideal accompaniment to this kind of meal. Sure, it's Brooklyn, so they have a few Sixpoint offerings as their draught options, but stick with the interesting microbrew list, and listen to what the server recommends. Sottocasa absolutely does not disappoint, from the decor and ambiance, to the food and drink, and assuredly the service. I'll be thinking about that pizza for a long time!

Great Pizza

I am a New Yawker and love NY Pizza ..This is not NY style thin you know thin and oily but it is excellent brick oven style pizza Great service here our waiter was a pro

Favorite neighborhood pizza spot

By Kara W |

This is a local's review! I feel fortunate to live on the same block as Sottocasa Boerum Hill/Cobble Hill. Their pizza is fantastic, the Italian owners/staff are really nice and attentive, and while it's always pleasantly busy, it is usually easy to walk in and be seated quickly at a table or the bar. In the summertime, it is a treat to sit in the back courtyard (note that it can be hot and buggy when temperatures are high which is the case at all of the outdoor restaurant spaces in the area). My favorite menu item is the burrata pizza, but it is only available Friday - Sunday; I usually time my visits accordingly because it is so good. The prices are quite reasonable by NYC standards. Also please note they do takeout which could be handy if you're staying in a nearby Airbnb, but the pizza needs to be consumed quickly - it definitely loses something if more than a few minutes go by. Enjoy!

Excellent pizzeria!

By Marcello I |

If you want to eat the best pizza in New York, you must absolutely go to sottocasa pizzeria. You’ll eat the real italian pizza,, not like the others italian/american pizzas that you normally eat in New York. Excellent pizza, nice place, good service and ithe italian owner was really kind.

Really great pizza

By PelleasPhiladelphia |

This is predominately a casual pizza cafe at a nice location on Atlantic ave (we could walk easily to our show at BAM), and we saw many people eating with their children, as well as couples enjoying an evening out. This neighborhood restaurant could accommodate both easily. The pizzas are light, traditional Neapolitan style and are really delicious. And a very good price, esp for nyc. They have a good selection of beers and wines, also priced reasonably.

Pizza fix

By SandyTNY |

Sottocasa is my favorite pizza place. Loads of locals fellow American Italians come here to enjoy a truly good pizza. The wood oven pizza are absolutely amongst the best i ever had in my life. They make Vegan crusts!

Thin & fine pizzas

By Toaoa |

I only know one pizzeria that is as good and that is on the outskirts of Rome. The experience here at Sottocasa can keep up, the pizzas are thin and fine, the service is friendly and attentive. The restaurant has earned its rank completely. If we lived here, we would be regulars.

Quiet Break & Great Pizza

By Jim B |

We enjoyed eating out on their back patio on a warm fall afternoon. It was a quiet break from the busyness out in the city. The pizza was very good and we enjoyed being able to select from several Italian beers. Our server was also very friendly, which always makes for a nice experience.

Worth the rating

By Justin G |

Walking up to it, you just knew this spot was gonna be something special. The pizza is phenomenal and quick to the table. You cannot go wrong with any of the choices. The flavors are so rich and fresh. The dough? OMG!!! Super delicious and very filling. Everyone was super friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Will definitely return.

Great price; friendly service

By Evelyn M |

Delicious style pizza and pasta. Pizza is very delicious, service is fast. Good choice. I recommend this restaurant.

Friendly and Delicious

By seth m |

our neighborhood “goto” place for Pizza salads and wine in a nice butb casual setting without lines out the door.

Truly exceptional

By marco d |

What else to add? We didn't tour many pizzerias in New York... we shot many, many in Italy! And this remains one of the best I've ever tried, a real pleasure! Well done Luca and all his staff! Keep it up!

A corner of Italy in Brooklyn 🍕

By Roberto C |

Very nice, welcoming and clean place; kind and hospitable owner, just a true Italian. The pizza is excellent both in terms of dough and ingredients, it has nothing to envy of the one eaten in Naples. The service is fast and accurate, staff attentive and helpful. Very honest account. Absolutely recommended, also given the proximity of the metro station and the pleasantness of the neighborhood.

A pleasant surprise

By Simonetta M |

A pleasant discovery made by chance because the pizzeria is located near the hotel where we were staying. You immediately see that place with attention to detail and that makes a bit ‘home and so it was. We met the owner, Italian who has lived in New York for about 20 years, fantastic hostess. We ate 2 delicious pizzas, sparkling water, which for them is a soft drink, 2 glasses of rosé wine, coffee. We spent $70 tipping, price in line with New York prices of restaurants/pizzerias

Definitely great pizza but some improvements needed

Another restaurant I would have never found if it wasn’t for Tripadvisor. When searching for nearby restaurants, Sottocasa came up first: only a 500m walk and rated nr 2 from 5’555 restaurants in Brooklyn. So expectations were high... Unfortunately they weren’t met. Furniture is very basic and the atmosphere is so so... Cutlery is not very good quality: The knife didn’t cut very well and don’t put too much pressure on the fork: it will bend. And lastly, the owner (I guess) behind the bar was not paying any attention as he was busy with his phone my entire meal. Even when I left, not a word despite my friendly goodbye. So why still 4 stars? I doubted to give three stars but because the pizza is just damn good, I rated a bit higher: in the end it is all about the food. Other positives: a very nice choice of authentic Italian beers, very fast service and a nice waitress.

Thin crust heaven

By Beau R |

Great pizza joint on Atlantic Ave. Lots of choices for pizza and some obscure Italian beer which is excellent. My family loves the Nutella pizza for dessert. Family friendly and a nice place for groups.

Pleasantly surprised

By tfizzle |

Good local place in brooklyn about 2 blocks from the Hilton. It is in kind of a lit windowed basement and you have to descend some stairs to get in-hence the sotto. Good well made pizzas. It is on some top 10 lists and could be right up there. You can also get a carafe of wine for a decent price. Good solid authentic thin pizza. I would go again in a heartbeat.

Great pizza

By VermontTeacher44 |

You cannot go wrong with any of the pizza selections at this small restaurant. They have a full bar and it is a comfortable neighborhood restaurant -- a great place to meet friends.

Dinner close to hotel after a long day of wandering around NYC.

Great service, delicious pizza and lovely neighborhood feel. Vegan cheese available and a terrific wine list.

Good authentic Italian Pizza

Good very authentic Italian pizzas in a very warm an relaxed atmosphere. Good choice of pizza toppings. Wine choice is good but not cheap. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend.

Go fast!!!

By Stephanie C |

We highly recommend this address!! Great pizzas (real 😉) rare in NY. Thank you Davide for your welcome and kindness. We will not forget you, my friend. The veranda at the back of the property is super cozy to have a good time. It really feels like home in Europe. Pizzas are tasty because they are made with sophisticated and refined ingredients. The beers are organic and the choice is crazy. Go there with your eyes closed!!!

Amazing Gluten Free Pizza!

By jasmine |

I visited here on a visit to Brooklyn for a game at the Barclays Center! This place is an absolute must and only a 20 minute walk from the Barclays Center. I went for the gluten free pizza with being gluten intolerant and it has to be one of the best I have had. My fiancé had a regular pizza and like me, absolutely loved it. 100% recommend if you’re visiting Brooklyn.

Delicious pizza lunch

By vette999 |

Recently attended birthday party here. Food and service were outstanding. We had 2 different salads, focaccia bread and several different pizzas all delicious. Birthday cake was so so good. We were in NY visiting family. Definitely great food and friendly service.

Mouth Watering Delicious!😋

By DDFRANCOS |

We tried several places even some top rated and they do not come close to this one. Psssst.. . better then Juliana’s. The Calzone is delicious and the pizza is as well!! This place is family friendly. Also a nice place to hang out with loved ones for a cold one. They have a Patio section and a bar. The price is decent. The size of the pizza is smaller then regular. Over all Our favorite place for a fast dine in. No long lines etc. Come enjoy a savoring mouth watering,Delicious, flavorful pizza!!

Great local spot!

By Dave G |

Great casual restaurant. Never would know it was there from the street or that it has such good food, Pizza's are incredible and the service is wonderful. It can get busy but the service never lets up. Could not ask for a nicer Sunday evening dinner.

Authentic Neapolitan Pizza!

By Pat G |

Soooo good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We've had several of their pizza's and several of their salads. Always outstanding. They carry Menabrea Italian beer, now one of our favorites

Amazing Pizza

By Travis H |

Almost walked right past this place even though we were looking for it. A great little place, seated right away, with great quick service. The pizza was delicious! I loved the taste of the crust and the cheeses. I would highly recommend!

Wonderful pizza in a lovely casual atmosphere

By Deirdre C |

Such good pizza. You can't go wrong on this menu. The salads are huge, and while greens are necessary, you won't remember them. But you will remember the perfectly crispy-chewy crust and the balance of flavors on each pie! Good beer and wine selection as well.

good pizza!

By steve j |

We enjoyed our pizza and our meal here ,service was very friendly and we felt just like at home , we wish we lived near by here !!

Pizza tasty but not crispy

By miaposta |

We love this local pace. The people are great. The food is wonderful But the pizza itself is often sony in the middle. Maybe we wonder too many toppings. Better than most pizzerias.

Yum!

By Ann G |

Pizza was real! No sugar in sauce, crushed tomatoes and fresh spices Tiramisu was the perfect compliment with layers of mascarpone , cocoa and a hint of coffee

Perfect place to unwind

By sidder |

We lucked into a non busy time at Sottocasa (6:30 on a rainy March Friday), and it was the perfect place to unwind after a long day. Don’t know how we had missed Menabrea beer in our past, but it paired perfectly with our pizza and salad. Staff was friendly but not overbearing... and it was lovely to be treated in Italian. Grazie for a delightful evening.

Pizza in True Traditional Italian Style!!!

Delicious food- including gluten free pizza, excellent service, attractive place with low noise level

Very tasty pizza

By OLenany |

Extremely tasty pizza. Fresh. They great variety of pizzas- with tomato sauce and white pizzas . They make them relatively fast. We also ordered few salads, unfortunately they were not good at all, but we came in for pizzas anyway. We also liked the wine list. They have great wine from Italy . It’s rather small though , although they have more space at the backyard Would recommend this place and I know we would come back.

Amazing food, wine selection and service

By Ncmtngirl79 |

2 members of my party arrived early and enjoyed an appetizer of prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and arugula. When 3 others arrived our party was seated and ordered 4 pizzas along with an arugula salad. Everything was fresh and tasty. Pizzas were amazing and all arrived at the same time. This was a memorable pizza dinner.

Authentic Italian - highly recommend

By Iamthedot |

We visited little restaurant on our first night in New York. We decided to walk over the Brooklyn bridge, it’s bit of journey but definitely workable. When we arrived there were no free tables so they sat us at the bar to wait. We happily ordered some drinks and enjoyed the atmosphere until a table became free. It was too long a wait until we were seated. We decided to have a main and desert, so started by ordering a pizza each. The pizza were fantastic, proper home made pizza with plenty of flavour. For dessert we order a Nutella pizza (not use what it was exactly called) but it was amazing. We’ve never had anything like it before. Its worth a try I would describe the restaurant as cosy, there isn’t a lot of room to spare but I quite enjoyed this. It felt lively. Service was great too. Overall very happy customer. I highly recommend a visit.

One of those finds

By justin_a_engel |

Pizza was freshly made, hand tossed and cooked in a beautiful wood/coal burning open oven. These are the real Italians and their pizza is on-point. Nice and cozy and the dessert was to die for. Get the tiramisu here best i have ever had.

The best!

By bfeibusch |

I enjoy their pizza every time I visit - have brought friends and family. The food is fresh and delicious. Staff are helpful but not in your face. I totally recommend!

Great pizza and tiramisu

By Logan B |

Pizza was excellent, cooked perfect in the brick oven. Tiramisu is excellent as well. Service was great and very fast. Recommend

Amazing authentic pizza (and I am from Italy!)

By Giovanna B |

Some friends recommended this pizzeria while we were visiting Brooklyn. Having been raised in Italy, I am normally very skeptical of so-called authentic Italian restaurants. I almost did not go. I am so happy I gave it a try. This was the real deal. Wonderful crust, easy to digest because they let the dough rise slowly (I asked!). Wood-fired brick oven. My pizza was with stracchino/crescenza cheese (a rare find in the US) and radicchio. Fantastic. This is the way pizza is in Italy, very fresh ingredients. After being unable to visit Italy because of Covid, I felt I was in Italy while I was eating and chatting with the friendly owner. Grazie davvero!

Marvelous Flavors

By piginapoke241 |

Great neighborhood pizza restaurant. We had the Verdure which is tomatoes, mozzarella, eggplant, caramelized onions, mushrooms, basil and the Salsiccia which is tomatoes, mozzarella, hot Italian sausage, basil. Size of the pizza was perfect for us and service was quick. Will definitely come back.

Good pizza, little too soggy

By Tunaidi |

Sotoocasa serves up some great pizzas. These are personal-sized Neopolitan-style pizza. Service is great, the space is great. The ingredients used in the pizzas taste really fresh. The only downside is that the final product comes out typically soggy.

Excellent food, excellent service!

By VickkiC |

I’m so glad we found this gem on Trip Advisor. My husband and I were in town with a group on a trip. We arrived at 4:30. As we were about to enter, a gentleman greeted us at the door and said that they did not open until 5:00. He immediately said to wait for a second. In less than a minute, he walked out and invited us in and said that they would go ahead and serve us. He escorted us to the back where we entered a quaint greenhouse area that was decorated beautifully for our meal. Then, as a bonus, the food was beyond excellent! We will return the next time we are in town!

Good pizza, great service

By wc9828 |

The pizzas were very good, if a little pricey. The service was excellent and we were a group of nine, so much appreciated.

Lunch with the Brooklyn Family

By senioritcitizen |

Dropped in for lunch, and decided to come here as it is always good. And it was again. We had the Tagliere, a delightful mixture of chhese and meats served with foccacia bread. We also enjoyed a Salsiccia, a mix of tomatoes, cheese and sausage, and a Popeye, which is tomatoes, cheese, and raw spinach. We left full, and Happy!

Best pizza I’ve ever had

By Manymiles101 |

Family and I were time visitors to this very welcoming and friendly pizza place. We all really enjoyed both the food and vibe and would highly recommend to anyone seeking really authentic Italian pizza.

Spectacular pizza

By Kurt Lichte |

Had read good things about this place, and since it was right across the street from our hotel, we decided to try it. It did not disappoint! Authentic Italian pizzeria vibe. The ingredients were fresh and top-notch, a the crust had great texture and flavor.

Good food

By Henry C |

Good food especially if you are hungry. Pizzas are big and toppings can be picked as you want. Go for the classic or meat

Great pizza made by real Italians!!! The real deal.

By ngirardnyc |

The pizza is top notch and the service is friendly and authentic. It gets quite busy at time and so it is best to try to avoid the "rush hours/days".

The best pizza in NYC

By FUDGE_BROWNIE85 |

This is literally the best stone baked pizza in NYC. We got our table and food quick and service was great, even though they were busy. The pizzas are amazing and are freshly cooked. The atmosphere was lovely ! Thank you so much!

Great pizza and we've tried them all!

By MJSweets |

3 adults and 1 child ordered 3 pizzas thinking we would have leftovers and not one slice made it home! It was delicious! Crowd was friendly and joined in singing happy birthday to me! Service was great...will definitely return on our next visit.

Authentic Napoli pizza

By travelphile23 |

I really really liked this place. Had dinner with my daughter on my last night in New York. Really good pizza, generous serving of wine, excellent service, authentic Italian. What’s not to love.

Just Dinner

By Viking-Ken |

We’re living in Brooklyn Heights for the holiday week. We’re in NYC a lot and this time just taking it easy. This place is casual, affordable and delicious! So many types of pizza, very artisan and reminiscent of Italy. Unassuming on the outside but clean and nice on inside, reasonably quiet with pleasant background music. They have outdoor seating in the back and not on the street but we didn’t get to try that.

Local place with good pizzas

By pleberre721 |

Stopped there for lunch. It’s a small place and the owner had a few calls from people checking out on vacancies...They have some nice organic wines and a short but appealing list of dishes. I had a pizza which was good.

Awesome Pizza

By Thomas S |

We came here on a saturday night and immediately got a table for 5. Service was was quick and friendly. We got out Pizzas insanely fast and were stunned by their taste and freshness. Absolutely recommendable!

Not for me

By trav226 |

My friend brought me here and I was excited to try based on the reviews. But this was a fail for me. Not because it tasted bad but I just don’t enjoy pizza that falls apart as soon as you lift a slice. All the cheese and toppings are instantly off the slice and onto your plate unless you either fold the slice or eat it with a fork. That’s a fail for me. I like thin crust pizza with a crisp crust where everything stays on the slice when you lift it, with a subtle char on the cheese. So just letting anyone who has issues with “fall apart” too-soft, too-soggy crust pizza, that’s what you’re getting here. Many people love this style. I don’t. (Also the server refused to let us each pay for what we ordered saying we could only split the check 50/50 🙄.)

Birthdays celebration with son and future daughter

By senioritcitizen |

This is the third time here and they excel with the new additions to the menu. We had two appetizers shared between 4 people: Prosciutto Mozarella and Tagliere (new addition). The meats were delicious, the cheeses were creamy and sharp as Italian cheese should be. We also ordered two pizzas: Verdure and Tartufata (new addition). The ham was delicious, and the truffles were fantastic. Combine this with a bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso and you are in heaven.

reliably fantastic

By El R |

Such good pizzas! Great ingredients, simple and delicious. Perfect crust. The burrata special on weekends is excellent. Also the aglio olio. Good place to sit, also fast delivery.

Out of this world, straight out of Naples Italy!

By Michelle P |

Ah-mazing legit Neapolitan style pizzeria! Not just the pizzas but from appetizers all the way to desserts you will not be disappointed! I thought I was home.

Superb pizza!

By Lisa T |

We walked here from the Brooklyn Marriott and ate inside the restaurant. The pizza was fantastic and the service was efficient. We enjoyed the salads and the drinks as well. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Good address and very nice owner

By Olivier N |

Very friendly French-speaking Italian owner and very decent cuisine. The pizzas are perfect and the restaurant is a little island of Italy in the middle of Brooklyn. Surprised by this 3rd ranking and the absence of reviews since 2019, but it is indeed a very good address that I recommend

Amazed there aren't queues out of the door

By Virgin_Express |

I can see why most of the customers were Italian on the night I ate here. From a lovely spinach salad (That's not all thay was in it!) to a superb sausage pizza and mom's recipe tiramisu the food was first rate. Really very good. I've only got one night left in Brooklyn....where do I go?

Don’t doge(r) this Pizza restaurant in Brooklyn

By loushka |

Mari, the hostess from Italy with the most beautiful smile and welcome as we entered the restaurant made us feel welcome. We ordered a Pizza Sicilian Salad to share and loved the taste of everything especially the wood pizza oven taste. I went back and thanked the chef and took a picture of this great pizza oven. Mari then gave us a lot of tips for restaurant and places to go when we are in Italy .

Wont be eating here again.

By Marissa M |

Awful experience from the arrival (took 15 mins to be noticed and 20 more to be sat), two of our three pizzas were undercooked, and the staff was extremely rude. Will not be eating here again.

Terrific Pizza, Authentic Italian Staff

By SINYC718 |

I came to this restaurant with a few close friends of mine. The looks of this place are deceiving. The restaurant has a back veranda that acts as a sort of greenhouse which could be great during colder sunny days. The staff spoke Italian fluently. My buddy conversed with them and he confirmed the extent of it. The pizza was definitely Italy top notch. The bread was on point, you could tell it was Caputo 00 flour. Crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside. The sauce was nice and sweet. If you wanted a little spice, they also had the spicy oil in the tables. The whitepie was great too. We literally stuffed our faces to try as much as we could. Pizza was awesome. I would highly recommend this if you are in downtown Brooklyn. Pies are personal size.

Pizza done right

By glen s |

My wife came here while visiting New York based on reviews. The restaurant is a nice place for a gathering with friends as well as a date night. The pizzas aren’t huge so you would want to order one for each person. My wife ordered the Popeye and I ordered something with a name that I couldn’t pronounce. Both came out promptly and both were some of the best pizzas that we have had. The crust had a crunch on the outside yet was soft and chewy on inside. The red sauce which had a sweetness to it was delicious. If you find yourself in Brooklyn or anywhere near Brooklyn, you need to eat here. I know there are a ton of choices but you won’t regret it.

Best Brick Oven pizza in Brooklyn

By blacayo |

This place is the real deal!!! They even speak Italian... this reminds me of the pizza from Italy. If you have an obsession with brick oven pizza like I do this is the best experience you’re going to have. The pizza comes out in minutes no long wait. I order and in 5-7 minutes my pizza comes out with all the flavor and expectations you can imagine!!!

Best pizza in the area

By drichrx |

I live a few blocks from this restaurant and have tried all the nearby pizza places, and this is my favorite. Their napoletana style pizza are the best, and with a salad and a glass of wine, it is a great meal.

Great Pizza

By stacey chiarella |

The pizza is excellent. I promised myself that I would not eat the whole individualized pie, but I couldn't help it. The food was so good I couldn't stop eating!!

A must!

By Woj23 |

This place is worth the drive from Albany even if you came down for no other reason. The food is amazing and seemed to be on our table before we even finished ordering. This was perfect because our two small kids were on the verge of a meltdown when we arrived. I can't wait to go back.

Outstanding gluten free and phenomenal service!

By Noemi |

We have visited twice already over the last two weeks and both times our experience was fantastic. The gluten free pizza shines as one of the best I’ve had in the States. Cozy ambiance and casual atmosphere are huge plus. I’m a big fan of this place after just to visits. Must do if you are gluten intolerant.

Perfect pizza, superb service in a great setting

By PDMM_Gourmands 🇦🇺🇨🇦 |

We almost walked past this place, set a little below the footpath, on a quiet street, but we’re so glad we didn’t. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. We sat out the back in the glassed in patio and enjoyed a good house red and a caprese type salad, with homemade pesto for starters. It was fresh and tasty. We shared a pizza boscaiola and it was so good. Fresh and tasty ingredients cooked in a wood fired oven....fantastico. Altogether a relaxing and enjoyable Brooklyn pizza experience.

Pizza!!!!

By nametaken5 |

4.5 stars. Really good Neapolitan pizza. We had the one with ham, artichoke hearts and oregano. Also really enjoyed the spinach salad with ricotta and raisins, almonds and mushrooms! Definite repeat.

Perfect, just perfect!

By tms215 |

Small, intimate, friendly, and the BEST pizza. This place is small, tiny tables, so order one pie at a time. The Owners are charming and the service is excellent. 2 blocks from a subway and well worth the visit. The pizza comes out fast, lots of options, and reasonably priced. Pies have 4 slices so you can share multiple pies. Decent wine list. The crust is thin and wood fire cooked so it has that awesome char. Go, you won't be disappointed

Great pizza place in the heart of Brooklyn

By Benoni_Judge1 |

The food was excellent as was the service and atmosphere. A superb selection of Italian wines and beers. Highly recommended !

Good one

Great service from the beginning until the end of the dinner. The pizzas are very much resembling or closest possible to the ones you get in south of Italy.

A taste of Brooklyn

Eccellente

By Nora V |

Finally I found a real and delicious Italian pizza in New York. Highly recommended for Pizza' lovers!

I search for good pizza

By John S |

I was disappointed, but it's not their fault. My favorite pizza is neapolitan, made the New York City way. Based upon the rave reviews in TripAdvisor I expected to find a great traditional NY/Brooklyn pizzeria. I didn't find what I was looking for. Instead, I found a pizza restaurant making pizza as you would expect to find in Rome Italy. Pretty good if that's to your taste. Thin, fresh, light sauce, fresh mozzarella intentionally not evenly distributed. The pizza for one cost 15, so it was pricey for what you got. I would describe the premises as bohemian shriek. Tables too small. Uncomfortable chairs and a spartan wooden bench. It was despite its obvious shortcomings well attended by a mellineal novo mellimeal crowd of young men and women apparently enjoying the cuisine.

The woodcutter

By MARIA GRAZIA P |

During my stay in New York I often found myself having dinner at this pizzeria... I've tried almost all their pizzas, all I'm missing is the boscaiola!!! One better than the other, I recommend trying the amatriciana one too. Everything perfect from the excellent raw materials, to the service, to the warm atmosphere you breathe inside. You feel right at home... Highly recommended pizzeria

Superb pizza

By rokkap |

Sottocasa most certainly lived up to its ranking: our truffle pizzas were absolutely mind-blowingly delicious; the BEST EVER. Our waiter, from Rome, took excellent care of us. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

An Italian Experience

By AsEyeSeizeIt |

After a long flight from coast to coast and an even longer cab ride from the airport, stumbling upon this amazing pizza place late on a Sunday night was the best thing to happen to us. Small, yet big on service, we felt like we had stepped into a charming restaurant on a piazza in Italy—just don’t look out of the window—it’s Brooklyn. The pizzas are delicious—absolutely incredible thin crust—tender not doughy. Even better? Order the Caprese Salad with a side of focaccia. AMAZING! Nice Italian wines to accompany their cuisine. And just as satisfying is the feeling that you are a “regular” even if it’s the first time they’ve seen you. If you’re in Brooklyn—this is a slice of the good life!

Authentic and delicious!

By Venture376851 |

This is incredible pizza, just about the best I have ever tasted. The ingredients are very fresh, the crust divine, and the sauce excellent. The service was fabulous as well and you can't beat the price. Highly recommend.

Best pizza in New York City for my money

By Steve C |

My wife and I both love trying out the pizzas at different places in New York City and elsewhere. We favor the Neapolitan style with the thinner crust over the regular large New York pie style. Not only is that style pie done to perfection at Sottocasa, but the vibe (very informal) is great and there is a selection of beers from microbreweries in Italy that are also wonderful (I love Isaac, a wheat beer that is one of the best I’ve ever had). They have other entrées as well which are delicious, but if you are looking for really really excellent Neapolitan style pizza , you have to try this place in Brooklyn on Atlantic Avenue.

The place to eat pizza

By Francesco M |

Lovely and cool place in one of the most beautiful and interesting quarter of NY. Courtesy and quick service. Italian staff will take care of you. You can eat the real italian pizza cooked in a wood oven at fair price. What else?

Quick service/great food

By Peteyp210 |

We came in at 12:45pm on a Friday and were seated immediately. We ordered and had our pizza 8-10 minutes after we put our order in, which is one of the fastest service we’ve ever received in a sit down restaurant. We had the Laura pizza and it was delicious, a little wet to warn you but the flavor was great. Highly recommend this restaurant

Awesome pizza

By Jessica S |

Amazing pizza in downtown Brooklyn. They are always packed so def make time for a wait. Cute little indoor space and a nice outdoor area as well. Good wine, great foodZ great spot!

If you blink you’ll miss it ...

By K9orbs |

We were staying in Downtown Manhattan and took a walk over the bridge in to Brooklyn. After a bit of a bar crawl we found this place tucked away - it’s easy to miss. They were busy and don’t take reservations but found us a spot after a short wait. Pasta and pizza are excellent with a proper homemade quality. Good food and good service. Worth seeking it out if you’re in the neighbourhood.

Simply great Pizza

Lovely place for dinner and great pizza, really there is not much to say aside from it was delicious and filling.... Ohhh the hot chocolate is amazing there as well.
