This place is GONE!

This place has been torn down and is now an empty lot! Trip advisor keeps asking for more information, but there is none. It’s GONE!

BBQ Awesomeness

By JDP2013 |

While on a business trip to Dallas, we broke for lunch and headed out with no place in mind. Stopped at Soulman's BBQ and thought it would be a quick in and out. Wow! It was quick but don't let that fool you. They had some of the absolute best BBQ I've had and believe me, I know my BBQ. Great bark, great sauce, lean and good portions. I really enjoyed lunch and not only would I go back but I'm looking for a reason to go back.

Soulman’s lives up to 49 yrs reputation! Great ribs / great service/ warm welcome

By WorldlywiseDD |

We both tried the 1/2 ribs plate and it was very copious. The rib meat was fall off the bone and delicious! The sides complemented this well - potato salad and ranch beans. I moved the banana pepper pickles and the dill pickles were very fresh and crunchy. The chef dropped by our table to check how we were enjoying the meal and it is clear that customer satisfaction is his top priority. I highly recommend this barbecue and will come back to visit again.

Absolute best BBQ I've had and believe me

By tmcgeemiami |

We came here because we've never been here before and wanted to give it a try. Good and with friendly staff. They had some of the absolute best BBQ I've had and believe me, I really enjoyed lunch. prices decent and plenty of options. Highly recommend this place.

Not impressed with the meats

By BamaGurlie73 |

We stopped here while driving through Dallas and was really in the mood for some good bbq. My husband, oldest son and I ordered the special, which was a bbq beef hoagie (after we add the sauce). It looked great on the photo, but when they made the sandwich they put the beef through a grinder...although odd we went with it. The problem was that the meat was not even a bit warm. My youngest son ordered a chicken plate and the chicken breast was so dry and was literally cold. The sweet tea tasted very odd...I couldn't tell if it was soured or instant. The only reason I gave this place an average rating is because their side items were amazing & everyone who worked there was super friendly.

Pretty Dern Good

By Iowafive0 |

I've come to this location several times in the last 2 months, and I have not been disappointed yet. Everything has good flavor, from the meats to the sweet tea. This is a place that I would recommend.

Tasty!

By Ester T |

Been here several years ago and it's the way I remember, except a new item on the menu, Double Barrel Potato. Huge baked potato topped with sour cream, cheese and a huge amount of chopped meat. Wow!

Wow. Great food.

1st visit to soulmans and I was impressed. The food quality was fantastic, prices decent and options plenty. Highly recommend this place.

Wonderful Food

By Kirby J |

I work in Dallas quite often, but just recently stopped by and it was absolutely wonderful. It's a buffet line and you can get as little as you want or as much as you want. I am super picky about brisket, but they offer a chopped briskit that was excellent alons with the hot links. Last time I had the pulled pork and it was great as well. I have tried 3 or 4 of the sides and they were all excellent. They only have a flavor of hot sauce, but they have several hot sauces on the tables for you.

Not so tasty

By MoWBe |

I had high hopes for my meal, but it left me feeling a bit underwhelmed! The BBQ ribs and sauce certainly had their moments—they were good, but didn’t quite deliver that irresistible "falling off the bone" experience I was dreaming of. The real star was definitely the sauce, bursting with flavor! The mustard potato salad caught me off guard with its unexpected saltiness. I really missed the boiled egg and pimentos that would have taken it to the next level! On a positive note, the staff was incredibly polite and attentive, making the experience more enjoyable. All in all, while it was decent, I might not be rushing back for a second round.

Tasty BBQ sauce --- even a baby can eat here

By mshbnyehud |

I ordered a special chopped beef lunch sandwich served on a toasted fresh french roll, open face. I drowned the meat with hot BBQ sauce and was delighted with the results. The sauce is excellent, not thick but a perfect accent to the beef. The beef is so finely chopped that even a baby could easily enjoy it, in my opinion. Two side dishes of pinto beans and green beans, both served cafeteria style, come with this special -- neither were terribly memorable. About what I expected. I walked away satisfied that the food here is better than Dickey's, the place is cleaner, service quite pleasant and you get a better ice cream cone (soft-served) for free at the end. Nice touch!

Fullfilling

Great Texas BBQ place. More than ample serving sizes...gotta try the ribs. Beans were special. Great value for your dollar and you will NOT go away hungry. Friendly and fun staff.

Do a U-Turn and Go Back for BBQ

By Mike-Landon |

A little off the freeway (not to far - easier if you have GPS) but well worth the trip. Looking for a place to eat off I-35E and found this great Bar-B-Q place. Lots of tables and quick service. Lots of food for the price (not cheap but not to dear either). Got one sandwich and sandwich Bar-B-Q plate. Tasty - Recommend.

Good concept for BBQ

By Estlouis smokey |

Order you meat: Beef, pork, chicken, ribs, hot link, then self serve two sides.(wide variety) comp ice cream after. Try the pulled pork.

Great BBQ!

By TgrHair |

The food was good and there was plenty of it. My daughter and I split a rib platter and had plenty to eat. The line manager advised us on the best deal for what we wanted to eat. Cool down home country atmosphere.

You will love it. Very good authentic Texas BBQ

By KellerWags |

I have eaten at almost every BBQ restaurant in DFW - I found this one to be near the top. I enjoyed the Brisket, Turkey, and I believe the Sausage is the BEST. The sauce isn't overpowering, and they only have one. They give you a Texas Toast with the meal, and it is awful, but I'm not here for the bread. Give it a shot, it's a buffet, so you will get through fast - but you will love it.

Hot links, smoked meats, what more could you ask for

By Kvacay |

It's a little different at first you line up and first pick your meats. Hot links are fantastic!! The meat choices are hot links, brisket, chicken, turkey, pulled pork. Bbq can be poured over everything or served on the side. The sides are mashed potatoes, green beans, baked beans, fresh cut French fries, coleslaw, and Texas toast. Desserts are banana bread, assorted pie. This is my favorite bbq place.

Biggest Potato Ever!

By MemphisLove2travel |

This place has the biggest and best baked potato ever! You can fill it with anything from pulled pork, beef or chicken and sausage. The person serving the food was very nice and pleasant. I was satisfied and stuffed when I left. Thanks Soulman's BBQ!

It was tasty

By Alma234 |

I got half chicken with half ribs with mash potatoes and sweet corn (little disappointed with the corn because for me it was too spicy) ribs made to perfection, chicken was deliciously smoked. I think I'll bring my Korean boyfriend here when he comes to visit because it was very southern Texas style, total of $17.30 with a drink.

Classic Texas Bar-B-Q

By yellowpixels |

Entering Soulman's is like walking into a time-warp. This place probably has changed very little since its opening. The "new" TVs are now vintage old fashioned CRT types - still working so give RCA credit for quality products! The food choices are also classic - the coleslaw and beans are good. Baked potato was very good - be real explicit if you don't want a ladle full of butter on it. Did not try the deserts but they looked good. This is a heavy handed serving style operation. People seemed to enjoy the meat too. If you are looking for a classic barbecue experience this may be your stop. However, if you are in this part of town a better choice might be Sonny Bryans on Inwood ave.

Awesome BBQ!

By KEE_12 |

We just left a business meeting and was on the way to another when we saw this place, just off the beaten path. This is one of the best BBQ places I've been to and everyone enjoyed what they ate. I had the brisket and it was tender and moist. The creamed corn was awesome and was like dessert. Can't wait to go back!

Tasty

By Gatortoe13 |

Very clean, very friendly staff. Food was amazing, I had the chicken, my friends the the 3 meat platter, sauces was very good. Very large portions. All around good place to eat.

Happy we stopped here!

Took a chance came because of billboard on highway. Yum yum yum. I got a plate of 4 sides. Fabulous! My husband pulled pork. He enjoyed pork and loved his sides

Now in Lewisville, TX

By Bill & Mary Penn |

The barbecue is good, the sides aren't so good, the buttermilk pie is outstanding. It's fast food in a restaurant and you stand in line and pick out what you want from the board above your head. Service is wonderful. If only a barbecue place could make good sides. Prices are good and I do like their barbecue pork sandwiches. Ribs are good, but not great.

Great barbeque with signature sauce

By travelivalda |

My husband always says it's the best barbeque in the world. Indeed when we walked in even with full stomach, we definitelly still had space for this! We came at the right time when there's no queue in the afternoon. The meat was perfectly grilled, the sauce was great. The baked whole potato was almost as big as my head (for real). Loved the ice tea, ice cream, and spicy potatoes too!

We used the drive thru/better luck inside probably

By Kristie G |

In a nutshell: We won't be back here again. We came here because we've never been here before and wanted to give it a try. We got the Chuck Wagon so that we could try a multitude of things. We got the small Chuck Wagon because we wanted to get ribs as well and you don't get as much in the Chuck Wagon. So we got a full rack of ribs and the small version of the Chuck Wagon. The ribs were so dry I could not even bite through it it was worse than jerky. The pulled pork was really good as was the barbecue sauce. The spicy beans were not good at all. We also got the spicy links. I love Hot Links but these were too hot for me and lacked any actual good flavor besides the heat. The mashed potatoes and gravy are all right. All said and done, I was really disappointed we paid $60 for three of us to eat and I would never go back again I wouldn't even give it a second try thinking maybe it was just a bad day but there was too much wrong with too many things.

Delicious

By Michel V |

I really enjoyed my visit today at lunch. The meat was tender and not overly smoked. The fixins' a little bit bland. I would have liked a selection of BBQ sauce but the only one they had was very good, not too sweet a bit spicy. Much better than any other BBQ chain.

Good BBQ

By lamike2500 |

Really enjoyed the food. Texas barbeque. Served though a line. Good and with friendly staff. I would bring people ready to eat and enjoy.

Great BBQ

By Barboo83 |

I really enjoyed this place. We ate here on our way out of Dallas. People were friendly! Luby's style get your plate on a tray and carry it to the table. Ribs were awesome!!! I had the Chpped Sandwich Special and the brisket was delicious! The baked beans were full of flavor. The potato salad was ok but not my favorite. Ice tea is wonderful. Overall I really liked this place!

Best BBQ outside of my backyard

By dina p |

Visited soulman's not expecting much. Every barbecue place we visit never seems to live up to our standards. However soulman's has change that. I was quite impressed with the selection of BB Q and the different cuts of meat available. The barbecue has just the right amount of smoke flavor without being overpowering and the barbecue sauce is perfect. The price wasn't bad considering the size of the portions. Highly recommend the stuffed baked potato, outstanding. And who doesn't love free ice cream cones. Give it a try you won't be disappointed also the one in Hurst is the one we frequent the most.

Delicious!

By HajriziR |

Has a sort of hometown cooking type of feel and taste to it. Delicious food for a good price. I got a bbq pork sandwhich, two big helpings of sides, and a drink for 8$. The staff were super polite, helpful, and clean! It's got a variety of entrees, even larger, variety of sides, and who can argue with complimentary ice cream cone?! I hope to be back again!

Yummy!!

By Texasmomm |

This food is delicious! Went for tge first time & my husband & I got a 3 meat plate. I got the hot links, chicken & ribs. Loved it! Great flavor on hot links, chicken was tender & rib meat fell off the bone! My husband got the sausage, brisket & ham. Sausage had great flavor. The brisket was yummy & smoky. But the ham!! Was to die for!! Went back the next day for a ham sandwich!! You must try theirbanana pudding! Great banana flavor. Creamy texture. Such a great ending for a wonderful meal!! This place is better than the big name bbq places!!

Best meal all week

By Vangiepango |

Out of all the BBQ places we ate at all week, this was the best. All fresh ingredients and huge portions.

Deliciousness while it lasted

Best Ever

By R. Sage W |

This has got to be the BEST home cooking / BBQ restaurant at which I've ever eaten. Everything was absolutely perfect. Portions were just right. Staff was friendly. If you want Texas style BBQ while in this area, I highly recommend Soulman's.

Good BBQ

By Cusinario |

You go through line with a tray and choose your meats, and then serve up your own choice of sides. Good food a plenty of it. Downside was they don't serve beer.

First-rate and very satisfying lunch

By Richard G |

Stopped here for lunch. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Meat was cooked to perfection and very tender. Best barbecue of the 3 I've had recently. The continuing stream of workers coming in for lunch is testament to the quality. Highly recommended.

We ate dinner there our one weekend in town beside the awesome place. The food was great and the service was also. They give great portions for the money. Its not a inexpensive place but its worth the money.
