The perfect spot!

By Michele L |

This place was awesome! The food is excellent and the service is AMAZING. We visited on a cold, rainy day and found this cafe inside of Pike's Place. The staff was so welcoming and friendly and the tables had a great view of the water. We tried their clam chowder and Grilled Cheese with tomato soup and all were excellent. The perfect meal and view on a cold day with a staff that treated us like family. Highly recommnend!

A bit different.

We met friends from out of town at the Market. They had eaten at this place the previous evening. We were given breakfast menus when we sat down and told there would be no waitress service. We were told to order at the counter. Hmm. Our friends said they had had waitress service the previous evening. We chatted and the waitress fetched our breakfast menus and gave us lunch menus. The menu for lunch is a limited one. We all decided what to order and the men went to order. Food was delivered by the servers calling out people's names. Drinks and silverware were semi self serve. Two of us had the chowder in a bread bowl. It was good. One had scallops and mushrooms: those were tasty but the serving was small. The other meal was crab cakes. The meal came in just at $60.00 for 4 of us. I found it pricey for the quantity of food served. The view is a nice one. The place is casual. The place is small and has little elbow room. The food was good .I believe the value could be improved.

Go for the view

By Dan de Padua |

The food was pretty standard fare. The selling point was the view, but I had seen a more expansive view from Anthony's the day before.

Nice Feel

By Melanie P |

Stopped in for a late lunch and we were surprised that we could get a table by the window. I ordered the Clam Chowder with salad combo and my husband the grilled chicken sandwich. Unfortunately I would have liked to eat with my husband but he was given the soup when he ordered and paid. So I ate my soup while he watched and then got my salad when he ate. It did take a while for his order to come out. Apart from that the food was excellent as was the service. Pity they didn't label the tofu in the salad bar. I thought it was feta. Imagine my surprise!

Good Restaurant

By derrickwg36 |

This is a good restaurant in the Pike Place Market. They have a good food, and were very accommodating with my order. I wanted one of the entrées change, due to some of the ingredients I didn't want. The staff are very helpful and accommodated my request. The restaurant has an amazing view of the Puget Sound, hence the name.

Lunch with an Awesome view

By lulucoats |

The food was good but I would suggest going here for simply the view across Puget Sound. We arrived at Pikes Market and could smell the food. It was a busy little place but we found a small table with a BIG view.

Good chowder, Great views

By bayou babe |

We just happened upon this restaurant during a visit to Pike Place. After going from one end of the market to the other, we decided to return and dine here. It has great views of Elliot Bay and you can enjoy the view even from the inner tables (the tables not directly by the windows). I had a bowl of chowder, which I though was delicious. My friend also had chowder, but she got hers in a sourdough bread bowl. The bread was yummy! Another friend had a salad and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were pretty big and she said they were delicious. Great place to sit and eat while at the market. Check it out and enjoy! bb

Little expensive for not having staff to serve tables

By keen72762 |

View is partially of industrial buildings. The food was delicious. Not epic portions. Great place if you are stuck but a bit too pricey due to the fact that you order your own food.

My regular stop for coffee and fresh vegetable

By mercerjoe |

Always go here for my regular before hitting the office. Friendly barristas and top drinks. Good cafiene hit.

Nice place, good food

By tommywelltravelled |

Busy little place at eat end of the Market. Great views from the windows. Food was good and well priced. The fire burger lived up to its billing and the chowder was indeed good and thick with lots of fishy bits.

Service was slow and I've had a better burger at McDonald's. Mine was so overcooked and dry that if I weren't so hungry I would have sent it back and would have if I had time. Wife's chicken sandwich was large but dry, and both of our french fries were overdone. No return visits from me, nor any recommendations either.

Halibut with a great view of the sound

By Gigi K |

We had spent the better part of the morning on our feet. Came in and before 3 p.m. there is no table service. You order at the counter and grab a table willy nilly. They do have waitstaff on the floor to run food to the tables and bus. We were greeted by a super friendly gal from Georgia. She explained the process well. Managed to grab a table at the window while hubby ordered. He returned with a delicious sourdough bowl of chowder. The bowl was delish, the chowder was passible. We decided to split a halibut platter to conserve our appetite for snacking in the market. That was brought to the table for us. The portion was small, but the protein was cooked to perfection. The sides were pretty run of the mill, no harm, no foul. It suited our needs as a couple. I think with a family of four, the value wouldn't be there.

3 1/2 circles

By mi682017 |

This is a cute restaurant with awesome views. They offer a very wide variety of food, chowder, fish and sandwich were very good, burger reported to be 'just okay ' ... staff was very helpful and friendly, we went when it was quite busy and I don't think the food took too long to come out (it's not a fast food place people!) but we did have to wait for a table after we ordered food because people weren't leaving their tables after they were done

A great place for breakfast in Seattle

By HaydnB |

We were visiting Pike Place Market early one morning and came across the Sound View Café. We were very lucky to find it with its lovely views over Puget Sound. We watched the large and slow boats plow across the harbour as we enjoyed our breakfast. I went for steak-hash and eggs. A steak-mince hash with eggs (over hard) and sourdough toast. The potatoes in the hash were very well cooked, somewhere between roast and sauteed potatoes with a lovely amount of peppers and onions cooked through with them. Delightful. My partner went with the Joe's Special. Which was scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and ciabatta toast. He found it very tasty. We both had orange juice and coffee with our breakfasts. We’ll visit again next time we are in Seattle.

Still rocks!

I was here back in 1997 and after 22 yrs this restaurant still rocks. Magnificent views with delicious food. Glad I am back here.

Delicious Food and A Panoramic View

By Zik J |

We stopped in at Sound View Cafe while we were at Pike Place Market in Seattle on a beautiful, clear Spring day. We read reviews on what was good nearby and decided to try it. We were not disappointed. We got a table by the window to enjoy views of Puget Sound while we shared a burger & fries and a beer. We decided that everything in Seattle is pricey, especially in the popular tourist areas, so we prepared to pay up but share the items. Service was speedy and friendly, and the views around downtown Seattle on a nice day are spectacular. The burger and fries were good, and the local draft beer was pretty good too. Would we do it again? Probably, if we didn’t want to try something new nearby. I would recommend Sound View Cafe for a quick bite and a nice atmosphere to get a flavor of Pike Place Market in Seattle.

Schedule your first Pike Place Market lunch here; beautiful view!

By RagdeEdgar |

This is a quaint no frills moderately priced restaurant. Great service (Grace is outstanding), adequate salad bar, beer on draft. Had a very good veggie burger with baked potato sticks. Inspires great conversations!

Its okay

By Katie F |

I like the idea of this restaurant. Tiny holes in the wall by the water, nice decoration. Most of the staff is very friendly, however not super helpful. Most of the people in our party enjoyed their food, but most of the people got easy dishes such as french toast and pancakes. Can’t really go wrong with toast and pancakes. 2 people in the party were far from impressed. Firstly, one got the eggs Benedict and it took about 40 minutes to come out, while several people before us had received their food. It could be how they prefer the dish, but the egg was far from runny, and a hair was found in the dish. Another person got an omelette to which didn’t even have cheese. Told the cashier and she apologized that the cooks forgot the cheese.. how does someone forget cheese in an omelet? They tried to offer cheese from the salad bar but the cheese was cold. Didn’t seem right to put cold, melted cheese on an omelet. On another note, don’t get their potato’s. Little to no flavor. Overall, food was okay (for some worse than okay), service was okay, but the atmosphere is great.

Great view, meh service and food

By Bearwife |

There are a lot of great dining options in the Pike Place Market. This place is unique in combining a great view and reasonably low prices. But I'd skip it unless, like us, you have to feed some hungry teens right away. Unless you arrive late in the day, there's no table service, just counter ordering. Food arrives with no rhyme or reason and crazy delays -- it took over 20 minutes to get hamburgers, and we found they managed to forget two of the items we paid for within minutes of ordering them. And the food is very so so, including, unbelievably, the clam chowder and shrimp cocktail. In the MARKET. Really, if you like good food, eat elsewhere.

Clam chowder bread bowl with nice view

By Michelle C |

This was a nice break while exploring Pikes market. The bread bowls with clam chowder were tasty. It gets a bit crowded at lunchtime

Great Place!

By TheManFromVictoria |

I had eggs benny with a slab of salmon under the eggs. Not a slice or shavings but a huge chunk! Very good!! The manager is great and he reminds me of Ray Ramono!

Good eats...ok price.

By djustinfowler |

This was our 2nd time here and the clam chowder was just as good as last time. Soup & salad for the win! The soup is best served in a bread bowl. The salad bar is has some good fresh veggies, sadly you can only hit it up once. But that’s ok, load up big the first time. The soup and salad will fill you up nicely.

Awesome Breakfast with a view

By makalu8000 |

I was visiting Pike Place market when I found Sound View Cafe. Had the Salmon Benedict which was excellent. Cappuccino was not great. However vibe is good and staff super friendly. Great view as well. Great stop for a quick meal.

Great food and views

By Karl L |

Fresh food with great service. We ordered the basic cheeseburger and it was NOT your everyday meal. Wonderful bun freshly baked and quality ingredients. This is a mandatory place to go. Daughter had the chicken quesadilla and fries. It was fantastic 😁😁😁

Beer and Burgers

By RememberWhenAJ |

Burgers were huge - more than we could eat. Good view. The placed was packed and it took over 10 minutes of standing in line to order and about another 30 for the food.

Delicious with a great view!

By Shana N |

I ordered the salad bar with a salmon chowder and clam chowder. Everything was flavorful, the view was beautiful and I left totally satisfied!!!!!!

Chill supper spot

By oceanicus |

This neighborhood restaurant with a lengthy history has fresh seafood enters a great view of the sound, and reasonable prices.

Mostly a nice view

By Stanislaw |

Decent, that's the best description regarding food, but there is a very nice view, with compensates the aforementioned. Prices reasonable.

So-so

By Michelle E |

The food was cooked to order. We found it over priced for what you got. Hubby said the pancakes weren’t very good. The turkey sausage was tasteless. Potatoes were good though. Sorry but Not impressed.

Great service in a great location

By Alan N |

Sound View Cafe is located within the Pike Place Market in downtown Seattle. With a good menu, great service and a great location overlooking the waterfront, this cafe is a worthy consideration for anyone looking for a reasonably priced meal in Seattle.

Could be better

By Kara M |

Casual dining with a great view. Food is less than great for the price, especially the coffee. You order at the cash register, but once the food is delivered that's it. The wait staff never stopped by to see if we were satisfied with the dishes. The food lacked serious flavor. I was disappointed and won't be returning.

Yummy soup

By him8nce1 |

Stopped here for an early lunch. Shared a bowl of seafood chowder. It was full of nice big chunks of several kinds of seafood. And the seating comes with a nice view of the harbor.

Best breakfasts

By The_Healthy_Prof |

I have been here twice for breakfast during visits to Seattle over past year and it is now on my have to do list on visits to the city. Very tasty range of breakfast items reasonably priced with excellent views across the sound.

You're going for the views

By Ben C |

Food is decent and reasonably priced considering where you are. Very busy spot, will have to wait for a table, but views of the Sound are great. Typical waterfront offerings.

Over Rated

By DTH |

Walking through Pike's Place this cafe had a "good" view so we stopped for a quick breakfast. Upon seating the family, I was quickly approached and told (more like scolded) that the process was to order at the cashier area. That set the tone which contributed to an artificially cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere . How disappointing! As for the meals - the selection was poor and prices high. I couldn't even get simple bacon and eggs, as turkey sausage was the only choice. As for the pancakes - 3 of the thinnest pancakes I have ever had. The seating area while there was a "good view" proved to be somewhat uncomfortable and cramped. On a positive note - the coffee was above average.

Great views, okay food

By Dan P |

Prices must be high due to location in Market. We visited on non-busy Wednesday night and service was still slow. Salad and soup "bar" is one trip. Kind of high price for that. Food quality was good not great

Great value and best soup ever

By Susan B |

What a great lunch. We had the soup and salad.Choice of soups we had the salmon which was so good and help your self salad bar also excellent.

Breakfast with a view

By Megan W |

This is located behind the fish market. It has a small “buffet” and a regular menu food option. I had a crab fritter breakfast and sat with a great view!

Seafood extravaganza

By Steven O |

I was looking for a seafood plate and asked them for their recommendation, after describing to me what was in the seafood Extravaganza with the sauce which was a special mixture I said "that's what I want". It was one of the best entrees I have tasted in my entire life and being 60 years old that says a lot. Two thumbs up and five stars, you've got to go there

Try the Crab Cakes

By Wrigley62 |

We tried margaritas, which were very average. The crab cakes, however, were really good. Nice mid-afternoon stop to rest our legs.

Sound View and Mediocre Food.

By TommyBoy94 |

Well this place near the Pike Place Market had a definitely nice view of the Sound. Too bad the food did not match up and the service was uneven. One of the people there was friendly and enthusiastic and the other looked like she was doing you a huge favor to just be there. The coffee was OK. The Huevos Rancheros were just OK. There are better places in this fine food city.

Okay, but expensive

By SimeyTravels |

It was okay, for what it was to us. Specifically, we each got their clam chowder ($9.25) in a bread bowl (+$2.50) and a bottle of water. The restaurant was pretty full when we arrived, but the line to get to the register to place our orders went pretty quickly. We were able to find a table for two towards the back of the restaurant, with a view over the street below and the Sound beyond that. The chowder was tasty - creamy and full of potatoes and clams, but I'm not sure it's worth the price tag (I mean come on, almost $10 for a bowl of soup? It's more than that when you add in the sourdough bread bowl, which...who doesn't want the bread bowl?!) It did the job that day though, getting us just full enough to stave off hunger pangs, while leaving enough room to allow us to graze at other stalls and restaurants dotted around the Market.

Perfect dinner at Sound View Cafe

By Viktoriia K |

I was on a bussiness trip and decided to eat in some place inside Market and it was amazing, my colleagues loved it too. Delicious fresh food and of course view for a million. Prices are average, near 40-50$ for plate of king crab with vegetables.

Don’t go by appearances or you’ll miss a lovely local gem

By tattietoe |

Very friendly and welcoming on arrival. We were served by a lovely young man who was very helpful - he explains the different drinks and offers available. Fantastic views. Lovely little find - although don’t go by appearance or you’ll miss a gem!

The slowest food service I have ever witnessed.

By Shane C |

Food smells good, but I can’t tell you how the food taste as I am getting ready to walk on this place.

Beurk

By Zlatko A |

Let' put it in a simple way : the food is not good (my eggs benedicte were covered by a huge amount of awful industrial mayonnaise), it is highly pricy (14us$ for the eggs, 3$ for 3 silice of toasted bread), and the service is slooooooow ( eggs took 30m to be served while the restaurant was half empty ... ) To make it short, view put appart I don't see any reason to stick to this "restaurant". It is pricy and the food is simply awful...

Ok if you're in a hurry (just had chowder)

By Fer Diaz |

Got us out of trouble while we were waiting for our cruise tour to leave but I wouldn't recommend it if you have the time to find a better place, even though I just had clam chowder and cannot speak for the rest of the food. Clam chowder was just ok, and I never saw the difference between the manhattan and northwest chowders. Service was quick and kind, and there's a place outside to have a quick bite with a great view.

Quick Stop for Lunch at last Min

By Bill P |

We found this place totally by accident walking thru Pikes Place Market. It is on the 2nd floor from the top and toward the water front of the marked. Just walking thru the market you will not find it unless you stroll down some of the side passageways. The place was quite big and had a view of the sound. They have a great salad bar and homemade soup. The clam Chowder which was in a bread bowl was fantastic. Thick and lots of stock not just your watered down chowder you can find elsewhere. The soup bar has 2 bowl sizes big and small along with the bread bowl. I am sure there are other things on the menu but time for us was at a premium and we were looking for something quick. The cost was fair and delicious.

Great meal

By CONatureGirl |

We were looking for chowder and the wait was too long, didn't want to stand in line for 4 blocks to go to Pike Place Chowder. Had a family of 4 and a baby and this place was less crowded. Order at the counter and find a table. Two of us had chowder and it was delicious! Also recommend the salmon burgers, and I had the grilled cheese/tomato soup special. Excellent and a nice quieter corner of the market to sit and chat while eating!

Horrible!!

By Tadija J |

OVERPRICED FOOD! Not good and they serve 2 months old bagels. Please avoid if you love your stomach.

Great views and food

By reisenderjo |

Right downstairs in the bowels of market. Great place to escape the craze of Pike Place Market soak in the views and have a bite. Highly recommended for breakfast or a snack during the day and to get ready for more shopping in this famous landmark.

Great chowder and pancakes

By Melissa L |

Has a quick bite while in pike place market. Everything made from scratch. We had clam chowder in bread bowls. Clam chowder lots of clans, great seasoning. Son had pancakes... Huge portion. Friendly staff and great view.

Excellent breakfast!

By JeannineBC |

My husband and I both had the market omlette and it was delicious! Possibly the best I have tasted, massive prawns and substantial chunks of salmon. The staff were helpful, you find your own table but we were fortunate in that we found a table by the window with a view. Service was prompt and really we couldn't have asked for better, highly recommended.

Loved the food and view

By Nicky L |

We stumbled upon this wonderful cafe whilst exploring Pike Place Market - what a find ! We decided to stop for an early lunch and got a table by the window with a fab view over the water watching the ferries go to and fro. We had wonderful clam chowder and a sandwich and fries each, good food and good value, we liked the way it was run by ordering and paying at the counter and then they call out your name and bring your order to your chosen table. If I was local I would go every chance I got.

Kitchen moves slow

By kariglenn5 |

Was in town for a day and walked to the Market to roam around for a few hours. I eventually found Sound View Cafe and stopped in for a light lunch. It was nice that they have "lighter fares" on their menu and I ordered the crab cakes. I eventually found a table (small place so if they're busy, you may have to wait for a table). I didn't love that it took 35-40 minutes for my food to be delivered to my table and that was the same wait for those sitting around me. Need to find a way to make the kitchen move faster. Crab cakes were okay.

Incredible View

By Laura P |

Very peppy waitstaff. Shared a Ceasar salad and had a couple coffee nudges. The view of the entire sound is so gorgeous.

Everyone should eat here.😍😍

By Venture55172506215 |

Amazing. Hardly any wait, great service I had their clam chowder bread bowl. The chowder was perfect and with that bread.😍 The atmosphere was just so friendly. The location was right next to the pier (so beautiful). Everything was decently priced for fresh seafood and fast fresh service.

Great place to eat

By Angel69 |

We visited this great cafe twice and thoroughly enjoyed it, The staff are super helpful. The cafe gets very busy. The food is amazing and plentiful and hot with a wide variety to chose from. The views from this cafe are great overlooking the waterfront. Would def recommend

Best Waterfront View in Pike Place Market

By Sunshinetoo |

When you've finally been able to pull yourself away from the entertainment of watching the fish mongers throw salmon into waiting arms and listening to the high quality street musicians, turn West and walk to the view windows of the Seattle Waterfront. You will find yourself at the front door of the Sound View Café. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with fresh and green at the top of their list of importance. If you're lucky you will find a table against the windows where you can enjoy sweeping views of the Seattle Waterfront. This café has been in business 20 years and features a menu they know visitors like. The location is far enough away from the huge crowds that you can actually relax for a few moments and enjoy your meal.

Get what you pay for..

By trekking4ward |

Daughter commented, "So expensive!" About $15/person.. Statement made as we enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast, watched ferries float in and out of Elliott Bay and smelled and felt the salty breeze coming in through the screened off windows at Pike's Place Market. You get what you pay for!

Not so good

By cnomis |

Decide to call in here whilst at the Pike Market and wished we hadnt , we had breakfast , but the service was very slow and when our food arrived the order was wrong, even down to the tea i had ordered they brought out Earl Grey tea instead of breakfast tea and when i asked the server to to change it he said that was all they had ! we werent the only people who had their orders wrong maybe it was just a bad day for all concerned

Lovely diner experience

By cathyswales |

We had breakfast here every day we were in Seattle except Wednesday when we found out they don’t open- we were devastated!! We had either the sea view platter or the pancakes. Both were delicious and ample!! We didn’t wait too long either. For city prices we thought it was reasonable and you get bottomless coffee which was also excellent. Service was friendly and I liked the fact they asked your name and then used it when your order was ready- made it feel very personable! We would definitely recommend and will be going there if we visit Seattle again!

Sound View Cafe

By DanBeq |

My grandson and I ate lunch at the Sound View Cafe while visiting Pike Place Market. They serve a great breakfast throughout the day and the view of Puget Sound, Seattle, and the piers was excellent. We enjoyed our lunch immensely.

Nice place to escape the crowds at Pike St. Market

By Chuck M |

We had two days in Seattle after an Alaskan Cruise. We were joined by 2 friends on the second day. Both days we found refuge from the overwhelming crowds in the Market at this Cafe which is on the lower level. Both days we had lunch there. The service, food and local beer were all excellent. My wife collects souvenir beer glasses. She asked how much to buy a glass for a beer with a Seattle logo on it. To her surprise the manager or owner (not sure which) wrapped it up and gave it to us for free! This ensured are return the next day. For lunch we sat at a table and were waited on. We did not have to order at the front. The wait staff were very friendly. The views of the sound are great. You can watch the ferries crossing the sound and the big Ferris wheel on the waterfront,

Great burgers, great view.

By Alison W |

Great food. Quiet place in the market. Nice people at the register and a beautiful view. Would come back when on the area. Thank you.

Very average

By wakelang |

We had an early dinner here. Food was average, service was average. Views were nice of the water. Conveniently located in Pike Place Market. Too many other places to try- I’d skip this one .

'Sound' View window seat

By yyzvoyageur |

Given the hustle and bustle of Pike Place market, this is a good relatively quiet alternative to have a good view of the 'sound', aka Seattle harbour while taking clam chowder soup away from the alley crowd. Its service, though cafeteria style, is quite efficient with food brought to your table. Try to grab a window table.

Yearly Visit to Seattle

By Lucy M |

The Sound View has the best clam chowder we have ever had, served a generous portion in a bread bowl pipping hot, we "can not" come to Seattle without making Sound View our first stop for their Clam Chowder, I highly recommend it. They have many other great meals as well, and a great salad bar, but the chowder is our favorite. The view from the tables at the window is beautiful a total must try.

Food was good

By Simpleguy22 |

I’ve been to Soundview a few times. You wait in line to order, find a table, and they bring the food to you. The food is good. Not easy to find a table.

Good way to start breakfast with a spectacular view

By Aileen N |

We stumbled upon this amazing place by the recommendation of a candy store owner in Pike place market. I fell in love with the place right away as soon as we were greeted by friendly staff as well as the breathtaking ocean view of the waterfront. The menu has a lot to offer with decent prices. We ordered salmon egg omelet and rancho huevos which were both prepared fresh and delicious. It was busy when we arrived but our food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. It was great to have this awesome place in the iconic landmarks of Seattle. Will come back to dine in here for sure.

Comes with discussions

By Malte M |

I wanted a handful of salad instead of the French fries with my burger. Not possible. They offered to bring the burger without the fries and deduct the fries from the bill. With the bill came the lecture that fries can be taken off the plate but not the bill. You live you learn. Burger was okay, nothing to travel for.

Tasty and convenient meal

By jdog2855 |

Stopped In on a whim for lunch and was able to get a table with a view. Solid and convenient meal. We had clam chowder and the veggie burger. Clam chowder was very good and the veggie burger was perfect. It had grilled mushrooms and onions as well as traditional burger toppings.

Good seafood with a very nice view of the Seattle Waterfront

By JRoz |

Good seafood with a very nice view of the Seattle Waterfront, nice place for a good quick meal. Located in Pike Place.

Salmon👍, crab cakes 👎

By Pat D |

I had the seafood platter. The salmon was very good as were the prawns. The crab cakes were poor. Food was made to order so it tasted fresh and hot. The place was a little crowded and the view was pretty good.

Bbq salmon

By zandhei |

Good food including a nice view on the bay. Service was ok. Sandwich with grilled salmon was good. Will come back

Little gem with a view and full pint glasses of juice!

By Skeslack |

Looking for a late morning brunch at Pike's Place Market we happened to find this little gem. Fabulous location with a gorgeous view of Puget Sound, great service, good food, and we were particularly impressed with the full PINT glasses of orange juice!! We made it in just before the lunch crowd and it was clear it is a popular place. Looked like they have some incredible local specialties as well. Will definitely visit again on trips to Seattle.

Nice and Simple

By Bob S |

This is a smallish place with table service where you go to the counter to place your order which is brought to your table when it’s ready. A simple system that works well. The menu is extensive, with a lot of fish and seafood.

Good choice of burgers

By simply-peregrinating |

The view is lovely of the bay, we went in the evening when the light was good. We opted for a shrimp starter the shrimps were very tasty. Being non meat eaters we were pleased to see crab burger and veggie burger on the menu. We had crab burgers, they were very tasty but the flavour of the crab didn't come through. Service was good and draft beer price very competitive.

Great view, delicious food

By Patricia F |

The space is very congested & chaotic, but the view & the food make it worth the chaos! Consider it an opportunity to share a table & get to know other diners.

Thoroughly enjoyed

By Peter B |

Stopped in with my girlfriend for a drink and bite to eat.. Was delighted with the service and food was amazing. The roast turkey club sandwich was to die for...

Not impressed

By PaDeTa1966 |

Eh. Food is not worth the price. Pancakes taste stale...how can that happen??? It does have a cool view tho.

Won’t be back

By Kelli M |

2:30 pm on a Tuesday afternoon. Ordered 2 adult meals and a kids meal. This took 40 minutes while we watched other people order, eat, and leave. Definitely won’t be back.

The Sound View Cafe Wow food that’s unbelievable

By Mallen1234 |

Friends and I were at the Pike’s Market and saw this place and decided to try it. One couple had seafood platter we had salad bar and soup. My soup was the Northwestern seafood chowder —WOW-you have to try it unbelievably delicious! Also the Salmon vegetable soup— fresh and out of this world. The view was incredible and service outstanding You Must Try this place!!!!!

Wonderful Clam Chowder

By jbproctor |

Had lunch here durning a tour of Seattle. Loved the clam chowder. It is a small resturant by the harbor and really loved the atomosphere. You order at the bar and then find your seats. Overall great fun.

"Glad we found it"

By Bobby F |

Located in Pikes Place Market this is ideal for a quick lunch break. The views are awesome. The staff was friendly, efficient and the food reasonably priced for the location. The burgers and sandwiches were all very good. We understand the chowder is excellent. Would make it a number one stop when I am in the area again.

Hidden gem

By SueUK21 |

Tucked in at the back of the fish market we found Sound View Cafe. The place was small but had a charm about it, the staff were happy to serve us only drinks after a long day of sight seeing & wandering. Our table was at the window over looking the sound and we spent a good 90 minutes with a couple of drinks taking in the ambience of where we were. We didn't eat but the food that was being served smelt good & there were lots of clean plates.

Great restaurant in super touristy area

By Alisatva |

I walked in to this restaurant out of desperation while doing the touristy walking thing on an amazing-it's-not-freezing morning walk and was pleasantly surprised by the beauty and variety of their salad bar. Turns out I lucked into a restaurant I'd go to on a regular basis if I lived in Seattle. Their soups served in sourdough bread bowls (northwest clam chowder, salmon bisque, or minestrone that day) really hit the spot.

Togetherness

By Elaine S |

Pike Place on a summer's afternoon has an awful lot of people, and one has to wait a longish while in line waiting to sit down for a bite. But once you get your little plate here, it's very pleasant.

By SAB5859 |

While visiting Pike Market we chose here for breakfast. The restaurant wasn’t very busy while we were there. You choose what you’re having off the menu and order at the till. I had steak and eggs which was good, my wife had a cheese omelette with home fries, she didn’t like her omelette as it was over cooked and rubbery. We both had sourdough toast and coffee both of which were good. Service was ok. Decent value for the money.

Great for Breakfast

By BerryTN |

Fresh food. Good selection. We ate there twice. They have seating with a beautiful view of the bay. The salad and soup bar looked great as they were setting it up.

Okay

By lirpa-april |

The service was very good. We had clam chowder in a bread bowl. The chowder was average. My 14 year old son had a burger which was pretty big. He said it tasted good, but the fries were just okay. I had the salmon and vegetables. The portion of salmon was pretty small for the price, and although grilled was pretty greasy. The vegetables were fresh and cooked well, but could have used more seasoning. The rice was slightly overcooked.

Ultracasual Dining With a Great View

By Rumples |

This cafe on the level just below Pike Place Market's main floor has it all for me. It offers nice staff, an extremely casual ambiance, good food and a panorama of Elliott Bay, West Seattle and the Big Wheel going round and round. A line forms to order here at the counter. Customers pay and leave to find a place to sit. When the food has been prepared, a server enters the room with the order and announces the name of the customer, who then raises his/her hand and receives the food. On a recent weekday, I arrived at 11:55 a.m. and found 12 others ahead of me and many customers already seated. That line resulted in only a 10-minute wait and plenty of time for me to decide on my selection from a wall menu that included a salad bar, soup, sandwiches, burgers and entrees. I chose a veggie burger that came with sauteed mushrooms, grilled onion, Swiss cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo and fries ($12.95). I managed to find a small table for two by the window and had an unobstructed view for my stay. It took about 15 minutes before my order arrived but time passed quickly as I watched ferries and freighters in the water below. The burger and fries tasted fine. When I exited to run some errands at the market, a much longer line had formed. There are many good, casual places to eat at the market, and I consider Sound View Care to be one of them.

Breakfast with a view

By PhoebeNJ |

We wanted a sit down place to have a cooked breakfast and it was jam packed. We were lucky to get a seat by the window, but the service was chaotic. There was a huge gap between the 2 orders coming out, such that by the time I got my breakfast( they left something out as well) my daughter was almost finished with hers. They seemed short staffed and stressed, so we didn't bother asking for the missing part of my order.

Nice Early Lunch

By LiketoeatCincinnati |

We arrived on an early flight and visited Pike Market. We were hungry and found the clam chowder and salmon chowder in bread bowls to be just right. Service was quick and we had great views.

Good chowder

By Marco L |

It may not be Pike Place Chowder, but we truly enjoyed their chowder! We had a late lunch here, but it was still packed...nonetheless, we were able to quickly find a seat and order chowders on a bread bowls. Generous portions, OK price, good view.

Two visits

By WC_trekker |

Went for appetizers and cocktail. The humus was good. Decided to return for breakfast the next morning. The breakfast was bland and the potatoes had a fish flavor to them.

Nice Find

By TerreG |

We actually ate there 2 days in a row - after yesterday’s Mariners game & today. Excellent clam chowder in sourdough bowl. Tasty & fresh. IPA beer was very good. Would come back tomorrow if in town.

Delicious seafood! Great location and view. Super friendly staff. Fast service, even though it was busy. Also enjoyed the Italian soda.

Breakfast Overlooking the Water

By Molly M |

We stopped for breakfast. I had the egg bagel sandwich. It had pesto cream cheese that was delicious! My friend got the scramble with salmon and it was very good. My husband had the bacon and sausage omelette. He was a bit disappointed because it tasted like turkey bacon.

Great Meal

By william Y |

While we were visiting Pike Place Market we decided to have lunch. What better than Salmon. It was great and we had a table with a view. A great stop.

Very Poor Breakfast

By StephenBP |

It started bad. We ordered steak hash. 5 minutes later they came back and said there was no steak, so we switched to Joes special. When it came we had a plate of tired potatoes that had been cooked much earlier in the day and not really reheated and eggs. The eggs were mixed with cheese and spinach. The spinach was tough and stringy, difficult to cut. The whole thing had been cooked in a pan that should have been washed hours ago- it was dirty. The eggs weren't hot. Neither was the coffee. Overall this was the worst breakfast we have ever been given in the USA. If we hadn't been tired from our early flight we would have sent the lot back. Most reviews of this place look good, They could have looked after us much better.

Traditional diner with great view

By Adrienne R |

Is tucked away off the main drag of Pike Market and overlooks the Sound - not the best view but still a view, light, clean and quiet. Food selection smaller than I expected but well presented and delicious at a reasonable price

Cozy Cafe

By Edgar I |

If you want to get away from the crowd while visiting Pike Market, you can find refuge at this cafe with an added view of the water. The food selection is also good, and the service fast,

Good value, in a great spot for the market and waterfront

By Irene Isaacson |

As part of a tour bus group, we were dropped off at the Pike Place Market for an hr or so to wander. After exploring the market, we found this cafe by accident. It was relatively quiet but had water views of Elliott Bay and the Waterfront. The food menu had reasonable choices. We had bowls of freshly made clam chowder, duo crab cakes and a large salad, washed down with a local beer and iced water. All for $38 total. Amazing value. It seemed to be a family run affair, with a pride in rapid service, despite the late morning crowds building up.

Stop for coffee and a snack.

By podrozniczka60 |

Nice atmosphere and right in the heart of Pike Market. Good place for lunch or a snack. Has a "soul" its own character - and the view, of course.

So much potential

By Hawkeye4077 |

A quirky restaurant in the Pike Place Markets which could be something very special with minimal efforts. The atmosphere is lacking and the service lacks the enthusiasm of other local cafes and restaurants that we visited. The varied menu has something for everyone. The grilled salmon burger was moist and full of flavour but spoiled by serving tough lettuce as part of the burger. The outer layers of the lettuce should have gone to the rabbits!

Great breakfast

By GerMar60 |

We wandered down from our hotel to this cafe for breakfast (we were not keen on overpriced hotel breakfasts). Very good food, very good value for money.

Lovely

By nurse1980 |

A great cafe with lovely views. Chowder was really good and a great selection of beers. Servers friendly and efficent. Not rushed and a nice place to watch the world go by.

Decent Breakfast

By TravelSinceRetired |

Had breakfast here after walking down to the Pike Place Market from our hotel. Staff is friendly & food is "down home"/comfort. View is very dependent on what table you can get.

Views with your food.

By John S |

Not sure how we ended up here - but the cafe wasn’t that busy and had great views. Service a bit hit and miss. Friendly, but not going out of their way to be helpful. Food was ok but not great. Unfortunately I remember this cafe for the views rather than the food.

Great views and food.

By orreo5859 |

Flavorful, just make sure to leave yourself time for wait. We both had seafood bowls If I went back I would get the chowder in a bread bowl. Prices are on higher side of Seattle food prices for the atmosphere and long waits for food.

good place to eat with a great view

By Marielle G |

On our first day in Seattle, we chanced upon this cafe as we wanted to have late lunch where there was a great view. The place did not disappoint. We enjoyed our seafood sampler with beer.

Good Place For Lunch for a Party of Eight and a Nice View of Puget Sound

By Barry G |

Business is located within Pike Place Market and offers a lovely view of Puget Sound. Find a seat, servers will give you a menu, and then order at the front counter. Shows table service after 3 or 3:30pm. Don't recall. BBQ Salmon Sandwich was excellent along with a side of potatoes. They have a large salad bar for those that opt for a soup and salad choice. Other selections included Albacore tuna sandwich and turkey sandwich which were also good. We were definitely full when we left. Prices are reasonable compared to other eateries found within Pike's Market and they have menu options for children where other places don't. Seattle is pricy so just plan accordingly. Don't let price steer you away from this business.

Excellent food and even better VIEW!

By Janellesmile |

Came in for the view but LOVED the food! They had a fresh salad bar and a lot of choices for hot food- burgers, seafood, sandwiches... We got items from the " Light and delicate" section: scallops and mushrooms & seafood and veggies with salmon and shrimp. Everything was fresh and cooked PERFECTLY! The portions were light and perfect after enjoying the salmon bisque and clam chowder. Highly recommend this place!

Great view

By BaronFoer |

Soup and salad $15. Giid deal worth a great view of the bay. Some of the best soup in the market. Love the salmon bisque.

What a nice spot!

By garlicmike |

Hidden in a back room ay the Pike Market is this little gem. Get away from the crazy hustle and noise for good food and great views! The shrimp bisque and albacore tume salad were a bargain given the view.

Great Breakfast

By bhigh |

We arrived at Pike Place early before the crowds hit and were looking for somewhere to eat a hardy breakfast when we came across Sound View Cafe. It turned out to be a great choice with all three couples. Everyone was well pleased with their meal and the endless cups of delicious coffee while enjoying the great views. Prices were very reasonable and the portions were generous. Would highly recommend.

Decent food

By buckeyenuts1003 |

Food was good but took a bit to get. Crab cake sandwich was fried to long but flavor filled. Easy location just by the fish toss.

Good food, view and price

By Tomáš P |

This is an old-fashioned little restaurant in the underground part of the Pike Place Market, but in my opinion it's the one worth trying. Especially if you're in Seattle for a short time and only can try few of them. So, the food is great and they have all the typical local specialties like seafood, salmon, etc. They have a salad buffet as well, but the regular portions are just OK. The place looks very decent and has a nice view of the bay, although the view is polluted a little by the industrial buildings on the seaside, but you can't do anything about that, it's just how the seaside is, not a fault of the restaurant. Last, but not least, the price is very good compared to other restaurants. We had a dinner for two (nothing fancy, just two main courses---although super delicious---and water) for under $40, a similar quality thing would probably cost at least $70 everywhere else around.

Soups, Salads and Sandwiches

By Jens L |

This a cosy place with great soups, sandwiches and a nice salad bar. Friendly staff on top. I very mich enjoyed the table with a view to the water. Great place!

Great Brunch

By trainman2017 |

Went for brunch, mid week, with friends who had recommended the cafe. I would not have found it without them as it is tucked away below the market. The views from the cafe are great, looking out across Puget Sound. The food is nothing special, but, it was the location that made the place. You order from the counter, then the food is served by the waiter/ waitress. We had the breakfast, but, there were lots of other choices for lunch etc. Considering this is under Pike Place Market I was amazed it was not very busy and we had no problem getting a seat, though we couldn't get one by the window.

Buried treasure

By Tontotravels |

Hidden in the depths of Pikes place market this place is well worth seeking out. Great salad bar and chowder along with a good selection of burgers and other main courses. More casual dining but great food.

Busy but Good!

By Rick E |

A good sign of a restaurant is when there is a line. This was worth the wait! Food was so good. Almost as good as the views!! Thank you!

Taste could be stronger

By Helen C |

We ordered the Seafood Extravaganza with marinara sauce and the Cajun Salmon pasta. While the seafood was fresh, the sauce could be stronger in taste. Great view of the harbor.

nice respite from the market

By ACTtherapist |

Not interested in standing in a long line for a cup of chowder, I asked the guy at the visitor information for someplace relaxing without the crowds with normal food; he directed me here and I was pleased. It is small, and I even invited a nice young woman who was also alone to eat with me so that we could both sit down at the one 2 seater open table; you see snow-capped mountains. The salad bar looked good. I wasn't feeling well the day I was here so I ate very little but could tell from other's plates that the food seemed good. Thankful for a restful place to eat in the midst of a chaotic environment (I did have to stand in a short line, but nothing compared to some of the other more obvious places in the market). The servers and employees were very kind and helpful.

Good home cooked food with Good Prices

By woody666 |

We stopped here for dinner on Saturday night, we had been walking all afternoon in downtown. We ordered 1 cup of Clam Chowder & 2 Main Courses I had seafood Extravaganza & my partner had Seafood platter. The meals came out, all very hot and full of flavour. We had a table by the window and had a great view of Puget Sound and all the ferries running around & the sun setting. Well worth the visit to this restaurant for the food & view

Good but fairly ordinary

By Ralph P |

Nice view of the water in a peaceful morning environment. We ordered breakfast at the counter and the fellow working was all alone taking orders . cooking and delivering the food. He did a yeoman's job of it. I had the oatmeal breakfast which was fairly identical to my at-home breakfast: quick oats, raisins, bananas, walnuts, and light brown sugar. Very nice--about the same as mine. My wife had a cheese omelet and her order was little cold with way too much cheese.

Lunch with a view

By Ray F |

Fortunately this is not the best known cafe in Pike Place Market, so you can often eat at a window seat with superb views of the Sound and the ferries and mountains. I've only ever eaten one dish here - the Clam Chowder in a bread bowl - and it is well proceed, perfectly sized and delicious. All of the very highly rated places in Pike Place have long queues, so this is an excellent antidote to the usual crush.

Good food at a reasonable price

By Jerry L |

Located in the Public Market behind the Peak Fish Market- where they throw the fish- it was the best bargain for a salad bar $7.95 and a sandwich $9.95. Has a view of the water.

A Bit Disappointing

By Nancy V |

We were in Seattle and had seen this spot when walking through Pike Place Market the day before and decided to give it a try. It was terribly crowded. My husband waited in line to order so I went looking for a table by the window. There were a couple leaving and I went to get it when a lady, standing behind me, swooped in, glared at me and said, "I was here first. " Um, OK, actually I was, but that is OK. Not worth getting in a fight over a stupid table. I was able to get a seat where we could still see the water, but the whole nasty experience was off setting. My husband put in our order, got us both coffees while I sat and staked my claim on a table I was able to find. The coffee was just OK. It improved with generous application of sugar and cream. Our food was brought to the table. I ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict, my husband had the Salmon Hash. Both were OK, nothing bad, but definitely uninspired. The English muffin was large and soft and slightly sweet. The Hollandaise sauce was very thick and heavy with more dill flavor than lemon. I really was not wild about the flavor. It also had spinach and tomato on it. The spinach was ok but the tomato was not good with the rest of the ingredients. The potatoes were just too much added starch on top of the large, pasty muffin. I probably would not go out of my way to eat here. I definitely would not come again when it is this crowded.

Iconic Hidden Breakfast Spot in Pikes Market

By boroughskathy |

We live in the area but when we do downtown stays, we always eat breakfast here. It's filled with regulars, sea merchants, tourists alike. Don't go here for a quick, fancy meal. Go here to take in the views, wrap your hands around a good cup of coffee, pile on the omelettes, pancakes, French toast and traditional fare. There is a decent salad bar if you prefer. It is typically crowded, can be slow, but such a slice of true iconic Seattle. Relax and take in the ambiance.

Shame on them

By Tanya B |

This place is clearly no saving tables. I can't stand so I looked for a table to sit while my party ordered. I was directed to sit by the door. Which I did as directed. Another couple walked in and sat down, and were asked to place their order first. Then they walked out and the girl chased them down and not only did she sit them she waited on them. While we were eating. We had two additional tables being saved. What a double standard here.

Good Food- Great Views of the Sound!

By bobbyza |

Somewhat hard to find. At the back of the main entrance to Pike Place Market under the Public Market Center sign about 100 to 200 feet past the initial Pike Place Fish Market stand and to the right. We had salads, and shared a bowl of their creamy, thick clam chowder. Very informal atmosphere and our servers were attentive. Below the Main Arcade is another lower level of of specialty shops featuring art, book magic , etc... There actually is a side entrance to Sound View restaurant from the lower level as well. Enjoyable relaxing meal while watching the sun go down, the ferry boats to and from other Seattle points and islands. Nice choice and we would probably go back.

Simple, but Expertly Done

By Jeff S |

Sound View Cafe was a bit hard to find, on the 5th level of Pike Place Market, but it is well worth it. The view is great, but the food is the star. My daughter had grilled cheese, and loved it, my wife had a "great" Ceasar salad, and I had the Seafood Extravaganza. All were rather simple dishes, but expertly done. I'd definitely recommend coming by, for lunch or dinner.

Busy Tourist Spot

By MaineGuy777 |

There were lots of hungry tourists looking to hang out here while seeing the public market and the water views from this restaurant. The food was just OK. I had a veggie burger (with mushrooms, onions, and cheese) that could have been tastier and hotter, with the same said about the accompanying fries (for $13). The salad bar looked like a better bet.

Great Breakfast

By msjj30 |

This is a small place with tight seating, but the food was good. We ordered breakfast including oatmeal, eggs, fresh oj, lox and bagels. Everything was prepared well and tasted very fresh. Also, the view is right on the sound. For being at Pike's Place, it was reasonable priced.

Clam Chowder in a Bread Bowl!~

By ozcan1 |

Lively debate about whether this was our second or third time here! If it's the third time, that first experience was 23 years ago! I was disappointed that squid dish/es weren't on the menu, but very adequately compensated by an amazing clam chowder in their traditional bread bowl. Other family members enjoyed their salmon, chowder-in-a-bowl...and a Breakfast Quesadilla. This is a very popular cafe and seating isn't really ideal. We'd have preferred a table solely for our family, but other travellers were welcomed as they joined us for lunch... . Interrupted sea views do allow glimpses of Puget Sound, depending on your seating location. Those tables are most popular, of course!

A convenient place to get some breakfast in Pike Place Market

By Mike D |

Even after being there, I cannot exactly tell you where Sound View Café is, aside from the reasonably obvious fact that it is in Pike Place Market. If you head in to the market from the main entrance on 1st Avenue / Pike Place and kind of follow its meandering corridors and stairways straight ahead, towards the Elliott Bay side, you will likely happen across this little café and salad bar, with great views across the rooftops of the waterside, over the bay and towards the hills and suburbs of Seattle and beyond. Sound View is a rough-and-ready café, seemingly famous for its soup (at least according to everyone online who has been there), however we dropped in for breakfast. Like the market, Sound View was busy, and we were lucky enough to be able to dive onto a window-side table as one became available as soon as we walked in. The room is a long, thin restaurant full of rickety wooden chairs and tables, but is pretty quirky and charming, in it’s general feel — one of lack of polish and organised chaos. As we were waiting for our food, we were offered at least four wrong orders belonging to other tables. You walk in, grab a table and then order at the counter. If you want water or coffee, then you're given a tumbler and/or a mug, and get the drinks yourself from a station next to the serving hatch. My other half ordered an egg and bacon bagel, I ordered an omelette. Whereas they were not the best breakfasts in the entire world, they were perfectly fine for the money we paid (just under thirty dollars). The bagel was soft and the egg was well cooked, my omelette could have been filled more with the sausage and cheese that came with it, and the accompanying potatoes were a little dry. Having said that, it was good enough and powered through another couple of hours in the market. We were in and out within half an hour. Despite the constant mix up with orders, we got our food very quickly and the servers are a cheerful bunch, running around shouting out names in a effort to find out who ordered what; it’s all good fun and I would return. Overall, for under thirty dollars, Sound View is a recommended spot for your to fill up on a run around Pike Place Market. Just try to get a table in the window to drink in the views, as well as your coffee.

Great views, excellent crab cakes

By Jon B |

Great views of the waterfront. Ordered scallops and crabcakes and a beer and total tab was $37. The scallops were good, but nothing to write home about. The crabcakes, however, are seasoned extremely well. Staff is amazing and friendly and we will definitely be coming back here again next time we visit Seattle.

Feels Family Run, Great Music Incredible Food

By Ben L |

Need I say more!! Stopped here while down at Pike Place, reasonably priced and great tasting food!! Really felt like a family run business. Polite, friendly and welcoming!! A pleasure to have visited 😊

What a wonderful little place in the midst of the busy market!

By brendamW118FA |

We had never been to the market and it was busy and fun but we found ourselves ready for some dinner and a break from the noise....what a wonderful find as we looked at several places and decided on Sound View Cafe. We sat at a table for 2 by the window overlooking the bay. Our servers were warm and friendly and the food was delicious!

Excellent hidden breakfast spot.

By G8523SUpeterp |

One day while meandering Pike Street Market, happened on this place. Great view too! Food was very well made traditional style, no trendy foo foo tower of this with foam, thank god. Amazing that that quality and quantity of choices could be made in that tiny kitchen. Now a must go whenever in town.

A busy little place with great views and lovely staff

By Rach |

I went here a few days in a row as it was a very relaxed place despite how busy it got. I had the clam chowder which was so tasty and it was a great portion for lunch time! I also had the mushroom scramble for brunch which was also tasty. The staff were very friendly and worked well together. I sat and read my book, drank tea and just enjoyed the views. A lovely place to stop and sit and get away from the busy markets for a while 😀

Great view

By DCNative_4500 |

I ordered wrong. I got the crab cakes and they were truly terrible. Very little crab and a whole lot of Mediterranean flavor and onions. I passed up a beautiful salad bar and some yummy looking soups thinking I would be getting good seafood. Bummer. Someone else in my party ordered a burger and was very happy with it.

Great view but food is nothing to speak of or write about!

By Carmen J |

Busy place at the back of Pike's Place. Cafeteria style unless you order something for them to actually cook and then they bring it to the table. Slooooow service. Be prepared to clean off your own tables. Food is average. Soup/chowder in bread bowls popular. Fries were terrible: whimpy, not hot, possibly undercooked - we told them and did not eat them. No money back. Sandwich is average, nothing to speak of but a good hunger killer.

The food was delicious with a gorgeous view

By Sarah R |

Pike Place Market was SO busy. Fortunately we happened to find this cafe at lunchtime. You take a tray and slide past the salad bar to order your meals. We snagged a table by the window to watch the ferries come and go as we waited for the food. We enjoyed the salmon bisque--thick and tasty. My turkey sandwich was amazing. The meat was cut from a turkey and served on a soft thick roll. The fries was overly seasoned. I would return for that turkey!

Chowder Nirvana!

By Pam From Florida |

This was THE BEST by far... the most delectable chowder I have ever had! Rich, creamy goodness, loaded with veggies and of course fresh clams! WOW! My hubby and I have tried chowders coast to coast and Sound View Café has beaten all others! They have totally nailed chowder making! Thanks SVC!!! :) We had 2 portions for lunch, then took an order to go to eat later at the hotel! Wish I could have thought of a way to bring some home! Enjoy! :)

Tucked away on 2nd floor of Public Market

By Christie G |

tucked away on the 2nd floor of the Public Market. We had The view platter for breakfast and a cup of clam chowder. Great Turkey sausage, clam chowder, coffee They had vegetarian options. They did not have pork bacon or pork sausage. Quaint with a view of the boats and Pier 59 We were glad to have stumbled upon this place.

Not remarkable but adequate food with a good location

By LoquaciousColorado |

Look, it's in Pike Market and it's busy. Do you want a salad? They have a salad bar. Do you want a cup of soup? They have it. It's it remarkable? No. Having said that the staff was good, friendly, attentive. With all that is available in the area, I doubt that I would come here again but it wasn't the worst.

Dinner Visit to this Cafe

By 282melindap |

Busy place to eat, but ample portions of food. Hubby enjoyed the huge salad bar, and I had chicken and rice/veggies. Waitress was super busy, but handled multiple tables easily.

Very, very slow service for not great food

By b d |

We thought we'd get a quick bite to eat hear. Ordered just a burger and a crab sandwich. They were not extremely crowed but it took about 30 minutes to get our dishes. And the food was not worth the wait - stomach fillers but that's about it.

A good stop for refreshments and enjoy the view

By AwayHolidays |

Seemed like a busy lunch spot and it was great to enjoy a beer, seated by the window facing Elliot Bay. The salmon with prawns was fresh, wholesome but plain. Service was friendly but occasionally, need some effort to get attention as our table was along the narrow section towards the northern corner. All in all, not a bad spot for a midday refuel.

Seafood Chowder in Sourdough Bread Bowl

By backpacker31 |

Stopped in for a late lunch. We ordered seafood/clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. The flavorful soup was thick, creamy and generously stuffed with seafood. The sourdough was excellent. Soft and dense on the inside with just the perfect amount of crunch to the crust. We sat at a table adjacent to a large window overlooking the water. Prices are very reasonable considering the high quality and generous portions.

Nice food, good view, decent service

By Alexander W |

We got here about 9am on a Friday morning, and found this place almost empty, so had our pick of tables. It's not immediately obvious how to place your order (order & pay at the till, they'll bring it over). The view was decent, but not amazing, though that might have something to do with the fact it was morning and there was plenty of mist/fog over the Sound. I ordered a breakfast sandwich which was a little pricey for what it was, but then I guess I'm also paying for the view too. As a one off this place was nice to visit, though there are nicer views/menus available elsewhere.

Average Experience

By She Ray |

excited to be in Pike Market, I told myself I need to have a taste of seafoods while still here in Seattle. So I decided to dine in this cafe and ordered the Seafood Platter since I dont want to eat anything than seafood. BUT oh boy I am totally disappointed. Their "platter" is not the usual platter you would expect. I am expecting a plate full of diff variety of seafood, but instead I was given a plate with little servings of seafood and a rice. This is not what I wanted, and the waitress didnt explain it well. NOTE: I asked her if the seafood platter is good for two, and she said yes, so my thinking it is "to share" and with the generous amount of seafood varieties, boy I was wrong. I guess the term "seafood platter" is not the same to all cities in the US.

If they have ...

By Don T |

Great little cafe with reasonable prices for excellent food. If the have the vegetable curry soup on the menu ... don't pass it up.

Great food and service.

By Spyhopper12 |

Great food and service. Pick what you want from the menu and we had our breakfast on the table within 10 minutes. Nice views and friendly people. The salad bar and clam chowder looked awesome but I opted for eggs benny for breakfast. Food is good and filling and just what you need to tackle Pike Place Market.

Awesome Salmon Sandwich!

By MNM1011 |

We were on the hunt for a great salmon sandwich. We checked several other restaurants at the market but none fit the bill until we walked into here. I have to admit that the price took me aback a bit, but the man at the register said he guaranteed it was a great sandwich. As soon as we took our first bites we knew we had made a great decision. Mmmmm....wonderful salmon sandwich! The sandwiches were huge, but both of us finished them to the last bite. Totally awesome sandwich! By chance we got to meet the chef and she gave us some insights as to how she cooks the salmon. We went to the grocery store today and got the ingredients. Fingers are crossed!

Good feasonably priced food with a view

By EveSp |

Sound View Cafe has a good view of the water, but no table service at lunch time. I went in around 1:30 PM on a rainy Saturday and stood in a line to order. In the confusion, I forgot to ask for a copy of my receipt. Turns out if you want one, you have to ask for it real-time. Tables were scarce when I arrived, but by the time I ordered, a table for two had opened up along the windows. After I ordered, I provided my name and sat at the table waiting for my order, which eventually appeared. I ordered the grilled salmon with vegetables and rice. I think the salmon that came with the grilled salmon was the same chipotle one as they use on their BBQ salmon sandwich. The salmon and the sauce were excellent. The very garlicky mixed vegetables were also good and the rice was a little cool, but tasty.

Good view.

By Graham C |

This seemed to be the only cafe open early (09.00) so we ventured in. The seats on the window side offered great views of the water but food was very average. The coffee machine was not working so ordinary filtered stuff had to do.

The places we had heard of to eat had long long long lines

By Sarah B |

We did not want to wait to lean up against a pole or sit outside on the sidewalk. So we kept walking and found this cafe. You order and then find your table. My sis and I got clam chowder to split it was awesome. I got salad bar fresh and had things I like. My sis got crab cakes and she said they were very good. I got beer she got Prosecco. We sat down and had over top of a low building of the water.

Nestled in Pikes Place Market, this small restaurant is right on the water for a fine view with a fine lunch. Nothing fancy, but a great variety of delicious food items. The chowder is great, the sandwiches terrific, and the service is quick. You'll go through a line to order your meal, then it'll be delivered to your table. It's a casual, but busy atmosphere that you can get caught up in. You'll enjoy the food, the friendly staff and even sharing a table with locals or visitors. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Seattle or even if you're a resident. I give them an A+ rating.

Reasonably priced, American style, ordinary

I had a late breakfast In a group of four at Sound View Cafe at about 10:30am on a weekday. The restaurant was less than half-full. We were immediately seated at a table by the windows. Some reviews gush about the view. It is true that you can see Elliott Bay, an occasional ferry, west Seattle directly across, and the container terminal way off to the side. But the view is right over a large roof of a commercial building. Somewhat less than scenic. I had basic breakfast food: eggs, potatoes, turkey sausage, ... It was $10. Most other options were $13-$15 or more. The food was fine. My dish seemed Denny's-ish. My companions had fancier meals with salmon or crab that looked delicious. Many other restaurants at Pike Place Market are not open until 11am. Sound View Cafe opens early. But it is scarcely the only one. Next time, I might just cruise a couple of streets to see where the most people are eating and give that place a try.

Sit, eat & enjoy the View.

Sound View has it: good variety of food, good price point, a place to sit and enjoy the view of Elliott Bay. Fresh Market offerings: Seafood, soups & the largest salad bar in the Pike Place Market. Check out the Unique Daily specials. I eat at Sound View Cafe', about once a week.
