Don't let the Halloween decorations scare you off, this place is a gem. Great outdoor picnic seating in communal area, small indoor attached bar and indoor dining. Free parking in their lot! Good food options and craft drinks and beer. Friendly servers. We will return.

Fried chicken sandwich turned out to be thigh meat and about 1/3 of it was fat / cartilage nastiness that couldn't be eaten. In my opinion you don't give a customer anything on the sandwich bun that is not edible.

Wonderful quality of food. Great beer selection. Lovely relaxed staff. All combined for a super spot for lunch.

We were in Austin for the F1 staying in an apartment near the Sour Duck, It rapidly became our “go to” for breakfast or a quick bite to eat. All bakery done onsite and good honest tasty food with friendly service.

Delicious menu filled with local flavors and flare. The food here is no joke- the burger will leave you trying to find room to fit 2 or 3 more. Try the house made ginger beer on its own or in a mule- you won’t be disappointed. Daily specials and baked treats as well as a coffee bar and garden patio that provides a cozy retreat and community centric vibe. Picnic style community seats in the patio, small intimate tables near bar and window seating inside that looks out onto MLK. Giant connect four for children big and small!

This is an excellent spot for a nice laid back dinner with friends and family! We had a great time and the food was amazing! Best smash burger I ever had and the cocktails were superb-definitely try the margaritas! Outstanding service will definitely visit again!

I don't do trailers. Mainly because I want a to sit down and be waited on and generally like to be inside away from the heat. Sour Duck I believe was a trailer at some point in its life, so I am happy it made a transition to a brick mortar type of thing. Order at counter seems to work and grabbing you own table outside was simple enough. I was lucky enough to have a mate with me and she had been before so she walked me through the ordering process from the menu at the back of the counter. Opted for the Pork Belly sammy and fried shrooms. I got a number, 69 and went outside where I was able to order margaritas from a polite waiter. Sammy/Shrooms arrived fairly quickly and at first impression was impressive. They say we tend to eat with our eyes and our belly. This was definitely the case. Sammy was encased in deep brown bunnage, freshly made in house, there was a dollop of Chili Mayo and was sitting a top of a bed of slaw. Crunchy fresh slaw. I like the fact that the pork belly was the star and the accouterments played 2nd fiddle. Delicious. Fried Shrooms were golden brown with a nice sprinkling of pickled onion and delicate fresh sprigs of dill. There were about 8-9 of them I believe and came with a homemade ranch dipping sauce. The beer batter was crunchy and the mushrooms were full of flavor and had a nice texture. Not to mushy and not to firm. I actually popped a few of them before I even bothered to dip them. So, of course, be cautious since they just came out of the fryer. It was a fairly warm day, not one of the 100 degree plus days we are enjoying now, so the rita's were flowing. A well made frozen is hard to find it seems these days, these showed care and skill in their preparation. We choose to head over the small indoor area, to get some A/C and enjoy a few more drinks and kick back. We received the same attentive service as we experienced outside. I would imagine this place will be well attended in the fall when our weather get's a tad more tolerable and I look forward to heading back out soon.

Neat spot on East MLK and Chicon -- all you could want -- sourdough breads, excellent pastry, good coffee, and varied small plates for lunch -- I really like the goat hash.

I had high hopes for Sour Duck. It has a great heritage from Odd Duck and Barley Swine. It has gotten a lot of hype in the local press and was named one of the 50 best new restaurants by Bon Appetit. It is a cute, stylish and attractive place with good vibe, but I was seriously underwhelmed by the food. The folks who work there are very nice but must have a problem paying attention. Our order of a crab toast to share became two orders, our order of a pecan bar ended up being a pecan stuffed croissant. Our visit was on a Friday afternoon at 1:30 and there were only a handful of customers eating. Typically in hot new restaurants that would be a crowded time. Draw your own conclusions. All of the food that I saw looked very attractive as plated. But, things fell apart in the mouth. The crab toast was not bad but any crab flavor that existed was overwhelmed by the very sharp flavor of pickled watermelon rind. I tried to isolate the “crab” which was a sort of a paste that tasted vaguely crustacean-like. We each had a wagyu burger that was dressed with “burnt ends mayo, queso, pico.” I’m glad they told me because I never would have guessed by eating it. I detected no cheese taste whatsoever. The pico (short for pico de gallo, translated means peck of a rooster) was identifiable only by small chunks of tomato but had no pico de gallo flavor, instead it tasted very floral which is a strong non-burger taste and quite off-putting. My burger was appropriately cooked but a little dry, my wife’s was just dry. All in all, the burger totally lacked any essential “burgerness” that I was seeking and left me wishing I had gone to Mighty Fine instead. There were a lot of tasty looking bakery items and we chose three to be boxed to go. All three were disappointing, not bad, just average. Most of the pastry selections looked almost burnt.

Decent food, coffee and atmosphere. The taco seemed to contain French fries for potatoes. Expect to pay typical Austin restaurant prices. Definitely want to try the Happy Hour menu.

Looking for a place to grab a casual (but incredible) meal and then enjoy it on a fantastic patio/open space? Can’t recommend this place enough!

We found out about Sour Duck Market from a coffee shop in East Austin. We loved the Chocolate Croissant so much that we drove to Sour Duck to buy more to take with us.

Casual spot with a variety of quick and easy lunch options. Tasty treats as well. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Good price, good food and good service. The parking lot is small but street parking is fairly easy to find.

What a lovely space for a beverage and conversation with friends! The menu is limited and the craft beverages are on tap. The numeric mule had a lovely edge to it and went down far too easily. The bakery counter looked great and we did sample a few goodies. The danish, the savory mushroom and cheese and the pecan bar were a perfect ending to a lovely evening.

Sour duck has a good selection of breakfast pastries and breads. I had a breakfast sandwich with a portobello to replace the bacon. There’s plenty of seating out back.

Excellent food and selection of baked foods. I loved the pastrami salad. Friendly atmosphere. Tiny frozen margarita.

Three of us arrived about 6pm on a Wednesday evening and found most all of the outside table seating occupied; young crowd. The place had a quirky vibe. As did the menu - there was none - had to order online from your seat - food was then brought to your numbered table.

We had been to Odd Duck and Barley Swine many times but this was our first visit to Sour Duck. My wife had the smoked portabella sandwich and I had the goat chili. Both dishes were extremely flavorful. We will definitely go back.Adam was the person that took our order as well as giving us a great verbal tour of the pastries made fresh daily.

Love the unique menu! The sweets and savory items are fairly priced and offer cool twists on old favorites (lemon bars, stuffed pastries). After you order at the counter, relax in the shaded beer garden area. Fans and mist machines are the perfect antidote for the Texas summer heat. Great place to meet friends and family.
A sweet experience at the Sour Duck
I really liked this casual spot which is kind of a hideaway just east of the University of Texas campus. You order with your phone using a QR code at your table or counter spot. It didn't take long for my large mushroom sandwich to arrive. The service was great, the food was even better, and the portion was so generous that my late lunch ended up taking the place of dinner! I'd definitely return.
