Homespun neighborhood bar with GREAT pub food! Had the white cannellini bean humus with roasted peppers, feta cheese and olives served with pita wedges. We followed it by the "Piggy Back Bread" a HUGE french boule filled with tender and mildly spiced sliced pork, chopped red hots peppers, covered in cheese and served with warm au jus...EXCELLENT! Such a great place for a fine, friendly staff and reasonable prices. Restroom was clean.

Had an incredible meal here before a Raps (76ers) game! Great vibe and AMAZING food. The home made hot sauce was beyond! Gluten free option for cider were amazing! We will be back! Mike is so knowledge about the taps and bottles

You never know what to expect when you walk through the door of a neighborhood bar. But Southhouse is a gem. Long beautiful bar extends along one side with tables of different heights filling the rest of the room. The ceilings are very attractive (yes, I looked up), and the industrial lighting gave it a steampunk touch. We stopped by for lunch. Menu isn't extensive, but seeing into the small kitchen, it makes sense. Nice mix of draught beers and wine, plus they have lots of bottled options, too. We kept our meal simple. My wife chose the hummus plate, which had lots of veggies and came with pita. She really enjoyed it, especially on a hot summer day. I went with one of the burgers, which was cooked to perfect medium as requested and was very flavorful. Came with a nice mixed salad. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. Definitely recommend Southhouse for lunch, and some day we'll make it back for a fun-filled evening.

We are staying in an AirBnB here in this neighborhood and the BnB owner recommenced this place and she was right...everyone was VERY nice and we had great grub and good beer here...

Menu is very limited. The other customers were rather loud and the atmosphere wasn't extremely inviting. The waitress clearly didn't like her job and made it obvious in the lack of service she provided. We couldn't get out of their quick enough! The food portions were quite small and the menu was extremely overpriced for a hole-in-the-wall place in South Philly. Very disappointed, but at least we were able to park in front of the place.

I have been to SouthHouse a few times, and every time I go I try something different. From the meatballs to the burgers to the whole brunch menu, the food is unique and amazing. The staff is super friendly and the chef has definitely developed such a great menu.

We were dying to try the new neighborhood spot around the corner from our house. The earlier reviews said to try the burger. So the two people in my party did. I got the spicy fish tacos. The burgers were definitely different than what we are used to. The were a bit over cooked and tasted like a giant meatball smothered in pesto. I would like to see some other burger options on the menu. The fish tacos were lacking flavor and dry. That being said I really hope they tweak the menu I think this end of south philly really needs a new "hipster" spot like this. Good luck!

What an incredible surprise in South Philly. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and had a great meal. The exterior is unassuming, but inside is a very comfortable, welcoming environment. The kitchen is open to the dining area, which inspires confidence in your food quality -- you get to see the chef at work. I had the SouthHouse burger, which was delicious. It wasn't pressed, so it took a few moments to figure out how to eat it (it was tall on a soft onion brioche). And it was juicy and cooked exactly as I asked (medium). My wife enjoyed a pulled pork sandwich, and she solved the sandwich's height by turning it into a fork meal. Note: The menu includes several sandwiches, salads, appetizers, etc., and there are several vegan and vegetarian options. Plus, there are plenty of options for those who are gluten-free. The staff is very friendly, and the service is appropriately attentive. I'd like to stop back in the evening -- the selection of bottled and on-tap beer and other drinks was impressive.

What a great place. Originally selected to accodate one of our no-gluten friends, South House was a winner for all of us. Amazing and thoughtful selection of on-tap beers, impressive, fun, wine list and strartlingly good food. Accomodates gluten-free diners, but every item was good, irrespective of limitations. Charming people. Among 7 diners, everyone was happy and impressed. "Macs and Chez" was tops,

I have eaten my share of Burgers, but this hidden gem of a restaurant by far has the best gourmet burger that I have had the pleasure of eating In Philly over the past several years. Its worth trying to find this pub and giving it a shot... I do think they could do a better job branding the restaurant at the street level as I almost didn't find the place.

Stopped by the SouthHouse in S. Philly over the weekend (www.southhousephilly.com) and what a treat. Great neighborhood pub, fantastic beer selection and the food was absolutely delicious. This is a must if you are in the area or looking for something new to try, you won't be disappointed. Great place to watch a game! This pub just opened on Dec 5, 2014 but you would not know it. Kitchen staff was efficient and service was friendly and attentive food came out and everyone raved about their dish ( we had a party of 15 ppl...). You can't beat a great meal and great beer selection at great prices!! Will defiinately be back as soon as we can.

Nice find for a late dinner. Great craft beer selection. Their version of French onion soup was very good. The grilled cheese was a little too toasty but the fries were awesome! Wings were average. I would not recommend bringing kids here as the only low tables were two tops. However, they were very accommodating with our child and pulled up an extra chair to the low table.

This would be a 5 star review but we've been here twice and both times the food was less than appealing. The service is fantastic. The beer list is great and the atmosphere is wonderful but the food... The first time we went we had the deviled eggs & the Benedict. Both were barely edible. The second time we went in we had the garden press sandwich & the burger. The burger had a consistency & coloring that more closely resembled a turkey burger and the veggie sandwich had too much going on and flavors didn't blend. I want to love this place. The neighborhood needs a place like this but right now I will only go in for drinks. I hope they get their kitchen together soon.

The Garden fresh press has been my sandwhich yummm I get it everytime. When I visit I always enjoy myself and the atmosphere of the bar and the people there so friendly. Customers, staff. They might need to get it together on how they make their salads but hope they take the feedback from their customers but it really is a nice bar and grill.
A Must Try!!
So looking for a place that is gluten free and close to me we came across SouthHouse. We celebrated my son in law's 30th birthday tonight there. Awesome in every way. I had a dish of spaghetti and to my surprise it was off the charts delicious. We ordered corn fritters and tofu and both was delicious. The birthday boy thought his cheese burger was excellent too. The best part of the night was Carl the waiter. So friendly and pleasant. We finished off the meal with dessert which was the best way to end the great night. Many gluten free options and friendly atmosphere. I will surely make this a spot to revisit again and again.
