Atmosphere and location!

By Iris G |

Very nice restaurant! I decided to come here for my birthday dinner. We sat on the outside patio/balcony at night. The view of the bustling street and the large business complex across the street was amazing. The breeze was perfect and you had enough privacy on the patio, even with being outside. The food was spectacular. The cost was just right for the excellent quality of food you get. This is a place that you would want to dress semi-nice for. A little black dress for ladies and slacks and nice dress top for guys would suit you just fine. Our waiter Jared was such a gentleman and patient as well. I will definitely come back! Thank you!

food was amazing

By quantai1 |

I love good southern food. The macaroni and cheese was so delicious. You have to try the biscuit, so fluffy and soft. The service was great!

Couldn’t get past the greeter.

By Nick F |

I would have liked to write a review about the food but unfortunately I never got beyond the check in desk. Ok, they were busy at 8:00 but the greeter was very rude in the way he told me there was no availability, no waitlist. I get places sell out but at least be polite about it.

Good Atlanta brunch

By Cflights |

This was my first time eating at this location. But food was good as usual. Chicken and waffle was great. Banana French toast was good. They also serve biscuits and muffins as a starter. We came before our reservations and was able to eat earlier. Service was good and they helped recognize my special occasion.

All around very good

By BarryandJackie |

The service was quite attentive. We ate upstairs where it wasn't as noisy as downstairs, and enjoyed the fried green tomatoes (good but not the best I've ever had), but the pork chop and fried chicken specialties were very good, as sides dishes of mashed potatoes and collard greens. Generally, prices were reasonable.

Post Game Dinner Rocked

By FeedBob |

Dropped in for a post game meal and loved everything about it! Service was awesome, drinks terrific, food memorable. I had the fried chicken and my date did soup and a dinner salad. The bread was amazing—the biscuit was light, hot and fantastic. My fried chicken—the house specialty—was worth the raves. Just the right serving size and served with great potatoes. I had collards as a side. Atmosphere was perfect. GREAT choice if you are in the area.

Great twist on Traditional Southern Meals

By McHalesNavy |

I took my date here and we really enjoyed it. We sat at the bar because we failed to make reservations, but that was probably better for us. We loved chatting with the bartenders. I love a bartender who recommends cocktails based on a conversation and it’s perfect when the drinks are good. The meals are an upscale twist on traditional Southern fare. We walked, not sure about parking. Expect to spent $50 per person. Right now in COVID-19 they include 20% gratuity, but the service was good we’d left that anyway. We’ll be back!

Much Better Then Expected

By Dealmaker |

We have not dined at one of the 3 South City Kitchen restaurants in the Atlanta area in over 5 years. We decided to try the newest location in Buckhead. The welcome by the hostess at the check in desk was very cold. After being seated Sheldon Wasson the manager of the restaurant came over to our table and smoothed things over. The service was fantastic and the meals were well repaired and excellent. Sheldon certainly is an asset to the restaurant as he has a very wamrm and friendly personality. The serving staff was spot on. What could have turns out to be an event that we walked out on, we were extremely pleased at the results.

South City Kitchen Buckhead

By EvanGuthrie |

South City Kitchen Buckhead on Peachtree Road in Atlanta is a great place to go for delicious and flavorful Southern food. I really like their menu and how well everything is prepared here. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need. Good meals here.

Great place all around

By MicPav88 |

Sat at the bar. Great bar tender. Good people of Atlanta. Excellent fried chicken with greens and mash potatoes. Only down point was the coffee with my lemon Cream pie. The coffee was horrible. Just don't drink the coffee unless you add something yummy to it.

Disappointing

By kimw0909 |

This is my second experience at South City's Kitchen's Buckhead location. Best I can say is just meh. Painfully slow service (which I think was a combination of the kitchen and our server.) Our server was very nice though. The scallop appetizer is delicious, however we asked how many came on the plate and we were told four, but only two came and there were three of us. My friend had the fried chicken and had to add both salt and hot sauce to make it tasty. The She Crab Soup had good flavor but was way too thick. The biscuits and corn muffins they bring to the table were the highlight of the meal. And great cocktails. But with so many great restaurants in Atlanta, would probably not go back here. Which is too bad because I can remember the greatness of their original midtown location going back to the '90s.

Excellent!

By Jorge Pelegrina Soegaard |

Excellent place to eat refined Southern food. The service was very good and attentive. The fried chicken and the corn bread were great.

Even large groups are amazed

By HBWNC |

In town for a board meeting with 20 plus dining. The upstairs seating and the patio are beautiful. The food. Well delicious, attractive plating and attentive staff. The fried chicken and the pork chops were amazing.

Southern Food with Panache!

By lindamU8479KI |

If you've ever wondered about Southern food, this is the place to remove the mystery. Great presentation and terrific service. Don't miss the fried chicken (definitely not like the Colonel's) served on a bed of mashed potatoes. Really, really good. Very upscale and memorable. Highly recommended

High end Southern Cooking

By mlnlaw |

The fried chicken is very good. The bar has you covered. Desserts are also good. A great place to hang out in buckhead.

Amazing atmosphere

By Ayushi Chandra |

Lenox is one of my favorite malls from my time in Atlanta and we had the pleasure of eating at South City kitchen for one of our dinner outings. The atmosphere there was quite nice, especially made warm by the amazing servers. I am a big salad fan and really liked their options. We are vegetarians and there weren't too many options for that - my husband was not delighted by that especially since he is not a big salad fan. But I would go here again just for the energy.

Menu is the same, but feels like you are eating at a lunch spot

By Jerry G |

Not really the ambiance of the Midtown location. But the menu is great. Fight the traffic and get to the Midtown (original) location. It’s quirky, and more fun.

Bring your stretchy pants

By 150hotelnightsayear |

I would have been happy if stopped eating after the biscuits, cornbread, and appetizers. All were delicious. The food and service were top notch. Prices are fair considering this. Not low, but certainly not overpriced for the quality. Must have: - Fried Green Tomatoes - pinto bean cornbread Don’t even bother with desert unless you take it to go or skip an entree. You won’t have room, unfortunately! Enjoy!

Very Good Food, But, Why Do They Allow Diners To Make -- Speaker Phone Calls? !

Very Good Food, But, The Dinner Was Ruined By A Couple Next To Us, That Made Mobile Telephone Calls, Using Using Their Speaker Phones and Very Loud Voices / Volume!

Service was great, food good

By Deltaza30 |

We had a group of about 30 in a function room with a set menu. The starters were great, tasty, good portions and service was excellent. The main course was the pork chop which was huge but lacked some taste, still nice but below my expectations.

Amazing!

By Maeve D |

Booked a table last minute as had friends visiting and it was so delicious. I had the soft shell crab pompedelle and my friend had the fried chicken. Both practically liked our plates. The corn bread was steaming hot out of the oven and very moorish. Staff super friendly too. Would definitely recommend!

Southern comfort food

By Reginealb |

Absolutely delicious meal!! Amazing staff! Had the fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and collard greens as well as fresh corn bread muffins. Scrumptious!!

Great Fried Green Tomatoes

By Human Behavior |

This restaurant has great customer service. The location is very desirable and surprisingly the southern cuisine is delicious. One recommendation would be the friend green tomatoes. They are yummy!

Yum!

By Sara D |

We had 10:00 a.m. brunch reservations on a Sunday and were seated right away. (Heads up - no drinks until 11:00 a.m. on Sundays in GA.) Our table got a variety of foods and all were wonderful. I loved my banana French toast and my friend adored her egg white frittata. The complimentary bread muffins were TO DIE FOR!

Good but few flaws…

By Jilbear |

The place has a great vibe but a few flaws. Made a reservation for outside area and were seated right next to a busy server area. Not my favorite thing as a traveler and newbie to a place. Server was awesome and friendly. Bar took forever to make our drinks. Apps were solidly good. Ordered a salad with addition of chicken. It was a good thing I added the chicken as the watermelon salad was meager for its $18 cost. Would maybe go back for just apps and drinks but that’s it.

YUMMMMMM

By MKEADSFAN |

I found out about South City Kitchen via a Delta customer service rep that lives in the Buckhead area and my friend that lives out there as well. This place did NOT disappoint. It started with speaking to Patrice, the hostess with the mostess. She gave us the run down of the menu as we sat in front of where they made all their baked goods. Devine smell! Our meal started with melt in your mouth biscuits and sweet corn bread muffins. We then moved on to the recommended Fried Green Tomatoes. Delicious crunch with the slightly softer inside of tomato. Then onto the Pork Chop and Fried Chicken. The Pork Chop was absolute perfection along with the cauliflower type slaw. To die for!!!! Fried Chicken was crunchy and moist along with collard greens and chunky mashed potatoes. LEAVE ROOM FOR DESERT!! ANGEL pie. Devine!!! It's lite, perfectly sweet without leaving you wanting to leave a morsel on the plate. This place is a must to try out when in the Buckhead area. If they find a way to deliver those amazing biscuits and corn bread muffins, I would forever be grateful.

Very good service, very average food

By styleonthego |

Wasn't impressed with this place, despite very pleasant service. Great biscuits and corn bread but the fried green tomatoes and the fried chicken salad were disappointingly bland.

Southern Hospitality at Its Finest!

By sharbear412 |

We’re new to Georgia and the Atlanta area. Looked on Trip Advisor and found South City Kitchen nearby. What a great choice! We were made to feel so welcome from start to finish. Our interaction with Sheldon, manager, and Courtney, our server was friendly, positive, and attentive. And the food (fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and trout) was delicious! And did I mention the yummy cornbread and biscuits? We definitely would recommend this restaurant and can’t wait to return!!

Excellent

By Voyage614080 |

Visiting the city for a few days and stopped here for dinner. The food was outstanding, as was the service. We had the ribs, fried chicken and finished with the banana dessert - all three were exceptional. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough!

Fried green tomatoes hit the spot! Great find for a brief visit to Atlanta.

By klynnkitto |

I'm sure glad I found South City Kitchen the weekend I visited Atlanta! (Although who knows -- maybe there are loads of great places in Atlanta to find fried green tomatoes and incredibly friendly wait staff!) The space is lovely, the menu has a good range, (including a handful of very appealing veg options,) my bellini was marvelous, and service was warm, professional, and attentive. Really a great choice! It's also next door to the MARTA entrance, so super handy!

Dinner

By Jspsihota |

My husband and I got there around 7 and it was still super busy. If you can, make a reservation. We were told 30-35 minutes and we decided to sit at the bar. We did noticed a lot of empty tables 10-15 minutes before we were told that our table was ready. The complimentary bread took a very long time but the biscuits and corn bread were great! I ordered the chicken and husband ordered pork chopped. Meat were cooked to perfection! Definitely recommend this restaurant!

Very good - Burger and Brisket

By Sharon M |

We were walking around Buckhead and looking for a restaurant that offered some southern cooking as well as burgers. We found both here. Our waiter was great - my husband wanted to try their own "bread and butter pickles" and he offered to get some for him. The pimento cheese burger was very tasty and so was the brisket. We were able to eat outside but they also offered indoor seating.

Six Stars

By CT-Traveler |

Need a sixth star to give this place a fair rating. Had a wonderful dinner here, the service was lacking in parts due to the place being so busy (even at 9pm); however the food quality was unbelievable. Starting from the bread basket, the biscuit and corn bread are amazing. She crab soup and New Orleans BBQ Shrimp, both fantastic. I tried the coconut cream pie dessert, which was average. I didn’t care for the layer to sponge cake between the pie crust and the topping. Just get yourself a different dessert and have a wonderful meal.

Every visit has been good

I have been here for 4 business dinners and we have had a great meal each time. The upstairs space with a terrace is great and private. The executives all had a good time.

Wonderful Thanksgiving in 2021

By ashvinraj |

Short version: Wonderful prix fixe Thanksgiving meal at the Buckhead location (not to be confused with Midtown location). Food: Three-course prix fixe menu for the seven of us. The first two courses are rather filling (but not overly so). You have around 5-6 options for each of the first two courses (traditional turkey meal is the second course, but several other options). Third course is one of two desserts. Plates we had include the turkey/stuffing/mash potatoes/gravy plate, short rib, crab cake, pulled pork, pumpkin pie, and chocolate pecan pie. Every single thing was wonderful, well-plated, and nothing was overly salted, saucey, etc. I’ve also had a great brunch here before, but the Thanksgiving food even surpassed my expectations. Drinks: Good beer list and fairly inexpensive wine (by the bottle) list. We got a decent wine bottle for around $50. Ambience: Two floors, a little dim (in a good “adult” way) at night, and has a chic bistro feel (where you see the kitchen). Music is loud enough to have a presence in the background, but not any louder than that (thus, perfect). Music is mostly jazz era (Coltrane, Davis, Fitzgerald) or maybe some Motown. Place has energy but you can easily hear those your talking with. Service: Wonderful. I looked at my bill to see who the server was so I could “shout him out” in this review. “Andrew”—white male who, while masked, I think may have looked like Steve Nash the former basketball player/current coach. Great service and very patient with us. On our way out, probably six different staff members wished us “Happy Thanksgiving.” Also, reservations went well—they personally call you about ten days in advance to confirm, then confirm again via text a couple days prior. Regarding Covid, servers and staff were masked. Price: For 2021, it was $70/adult and $35/for kids. Given the quantity and quality (and location), I felt the price was justified. For comparison, the prices at the main stream steakhouses in Atlanta for the holiday was around $55 (where food is mostly frozen and they get by on brand name, and the premier hotels were charging around $100 per person (again, brand name). Parking: There’s a garage close for I think $6/hr, so you’re better off using the valet for the flat $5 fee. Summary: The best place for a Thanksgiving meal is at your home, but if you have to eat out that day in Atlanta, I’d recommend this place with no hesitation.

Don't believe the hype

By Debora E |

I had heard so many good things about this restaurant. Unfortunately, the food was very underwhelming. It lacked flavor and was tasteless. I was very surprised and disappointed. I even tried it a second time. Same results. I have not used the gift certificates they gave me. That says a lot. Perhaps the other locations are better.

Stop say are “we” ready etc

By Hockeybo |

It had good service but I had to ask the waiter to stop saying are we during every sentence. Once that happen the food was tasty not bad prices and good service.

Friday night

By Barneyq101 |

Lively place. Good bar. Food good, I thought the fried green tomatoes with goats cheese was greatest a starter. We both had this. My porky chop was interesting, not often served medium as was here any more. Next time I would do well done. With grits and cabbage onions. Anyway it worked. Good Malbec by the glass. Overall very good.

Food was good but hostess not so much

By DetroitChic |

I tried this restaurant on Friday October 6 and was disappointed by the hostess service but my server, Kevin, made up for that experience. The chicken and collard greens were good though

Southern dining on Peactree

By Thomas R |

It is always a pleasure to write a positive review on a new encounter. This is one of those. After reading hundreds of reviews about restaurants on various websites, I have learned that different guests can have very different experiences at the exact same place. Our experience at South City Kitchen in Buckhead was stellar . . . from the time we arrived until we left. We arrived on a Friday evening without reservations and expected to be turned away. But, exactly the opposite happened . . . we were very warmly welcomed. Anna Marie, who was handling seating at the podium, said that if we could give her a few minutes, she would find us a table. Well, we were seated quicker than other places where we had a reservation. And, our table was in the center of the restaurant with a wonderful view of Peachtree. When considering the menu, our server, Cortez, had no problem offering suggestions and opinions from drinks to food. He was extremely attentive and the "backup" service was exceptional. Empty plates and flatware disappeared and were quickly replaced with clean pieces for the next dish. From appetizer to dessert, everything we ordered was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. So, South City Kitchen in Buckhead is one of our favorite places to enjoy a good meal.

Good Southern Food ... great Service

By TJBRaleigh |

On a recent 2 day trip to the Buckhead area of Atlanta my wife and I took in an early dinner at South City Kitchen. Used Trip Advisor to find choices near our hotel, and we weren’t disappointed. Southern comfort food with a gourmet touch. The service was outstanding, from the hostess to our server to the manager. We had requested a booth if available, but were happy with our table in the open air area. When it was time for dessert, our waiter said his manager said it was on him because he couldn’t get us the booth requested. We really didn’t think it was necessary, but we appreciated the gesture. Next time we are in Buckhead, we will definitely go to South City Kitchen.

Delicious Food, Terrific Service

By DJB05 |

South City Kitchen is a rare restaurant that serves brunch on Saturday as well as Sunday; we took advantage and visited for a Saturday brunch. First, thanks to the accommodating staff member (wish I had his name) for finding us a seat on the outside patio. The great service continued throughout the meal thanks to Briana. As for the food, the Chicken Liver appetizer was perfect, tender and juicy. For mains, we had the Brisket Benedict with Grits and the Crab Cake with Hash; both were rich and sumptuous and perfectly prepared. A great meal and wonderful experience.

Elevated Pedestrian Fare

This place is really good simple dishes like fried chicken, chicken livers and fried green tomatoes are taken up a notch. Cornbread and biscuits make you really feel like you are down south.

Get the Fried Green Tomatoes

By vee_travels |

I have walked to this restaurant from my hotel a number of times over the past three months. I've eating in the "patio" as well as at the bar. I've yet to be disappointed even when the bartender sprayed me with seltzer water. I've order the fried green tomatoes every time I've visited. They are the best I've had in Buckhead. And the produce is always crisp and fresh. The service is great, the fried chicken even better.

Chicken and waffles to die for

By debi g |

I am always watching my calories so for me to indulge it must be worth it. The atmosphere is lovely, as is the staff. Chicken and Waffles will not disappoint.

Delicious food

By SerendipityIndia |

Had my farewell lunch in Atlanta at South City kitchen. The ambience, location and service was amazing and we had the most wonderful hostess. The place is good for small and large groups alike. Definitely recommend reserving a table during lunch and on weekends given the popularity. Can't forget the High Road Sorbet which was the highlight of my lunch.

good food, good service, good location

By jebranford |

A group of us ate at South City Kitchen, Buckhead (a section of Atlanta). The service was very good and the food was excellent. We were able to eat dinner outside in a screened patio.

Nice Southern Food

By vonireland |

A friendly welcome from the staff at this well located restaurant in popular Buckhead. The food is unashamedly southern but with more than fried chicken and grits although both are available. I just had a couple of appetizers but the table next door went large and were defeated! Definitely recommended - the food and service were excellent.

Good but we hope for a better seat next time we visit

By ToniS1111 |

We were with our family of 5 and we were in a separated booth type of table and we felt very cut off from everything and we had a new server so sometimes the service was slower than we would have liked. I found the menu somewhat limited. We had a few appetizers including the pimento cheese (which was delicious) so then I had a salad which I felt was rather small for the price. My husband had the pork chop which he thought was excellent and one of my boys had the pulled pork which was also great. I would go again and ask for a better table and maybe try less appetizers so I could try a better main course.

Friday Afternoon Visit

By Atlanta-Folks |

We were in town for a concert and decided to eat here since it was convenient to our hotel. We arrived at 5 and the restaurant wasn’t busy. We decided to eat at the bar and enjoy a few happy hour specials. Sean took care of us and he was FANTASTIC. He was professional, personable and an excellent bartender. He is the reason my review is a 5 and not a 4. We had happy hour Gouda fritters and fried green tomatoes-both were very good (and filling). We also had mussels and fried chicken. Everything was good and we would return.

Really excellent, impressive!

By Jasmin G |

We had really excellent meals at this restaurant. Everything was so fresh, tasty, and unique. The trout was probably one of the best fishes we have ever had. The salad was also impressive, as well as the delicious corn bread. A must go if you stay nearby.

Keeps Getting Better

By Don K |

I thoroughly enjoy Southern food when in Atlanta and appreciate this establishment’s unique, almost artistic license with mainstay dishes. My lunch visit favorites have been the beef and mushroom meatloaf (with roasted cauliflower purée), the Springer Farms Chicken Chopped Salad (love the feta cheese and pecan bacon)...and today I opted for the pulled pork sandwich, sans bread. The pulled pork was succulent and flavorful having been smoked overnight. I switched between dipping it in homemade BBQ sauce and hot sauce. The coleslaw had a touch of horseradish, a subtlety biting and welcome addition to a Southern staple. A hand crafted side salad adorned with dried cranberries and topped with a ranchesque lemon dressing complimented the pork and coleslaw. No question that today’s meal was yet another homerun. I have found this restaurant’s food and it’s service to be consistently excellent.

Interesting venue

By Nellietheelephant |

We were a large party so had exclusive use for the early part of the evening Interesting food selection - delicious chicken Very friendly and helpful staff Pleasant outdoor seating area

South city kitchen

By Taneshia E |

South city kitchen was amazing. The food was so good. We had the mussels, and for our entree we had the fried chicken collards and mash potatoes. And Malcolm our waiter was amazing. He made the experience so much better. We will def visit again.

TCD had a date....

By tencatdaddy |

and this place looked convenient for both of us so I booked. We had a lovely time. I was at the bar and asked about vermouths and the bartender reached into the fridge (yes!) & pulled out two sweet vermouths (I was asking about dry, but....) and I noticed a winner so asked if they had Campari to which she replied, "so you want a Negroni? and w/ what gin?" I liked her already. It was made perfectly w/ a large ice cube. TCDD arrived shortly and decided on a "ranch water" which she proclaimed to be ideal. We were seated and after a somewhat long wait (quite frankly I did not notice) a server approached, apologized, and gave the spiel to us. Our orders were based, somewhat, on her recommendations and TCDD had the "market" fish which was redfish prepared as per their menu and proclaimed it excellent. I thought the Carolina trout looked interesting and ordered it and was not at all disappointed. The chef does a turnip soubise that was amazing and I am still trying to perfect at home for the benefit of TCDD who took one taste and proclaimed it "incredible". This restaurant does a great job at making good food at reasonable prices w/ very good service and a staff that has a clue. Quite frankly I wish more restaurants could follow this pattern. We will return and it might become "our" place.

Cozy and Accomdating

By MrsH0dges |

These folks not only prepared great food for us, they stayed open till the last possible moment to accommodate our later than expected post game arrival. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting and food fantastic. I believe between the 6 in our group we probably sampled half the menu. I was slightly under the weather so I had the she crab soup (thumbs up) and some of the communal pimento cheese we ordered. Everyone seemed well pleased with their meal!

Morning brunch date

By Rocky M |

This establishment was excellent. Eventhough it was an hour wait just walking in It would be recommended to make a reservation. Good thing was they have seating at the bar with a full menu. Open seating. The staff were very friendly and professional. The food was great.

Great Service & Great Fried Chicken

By ManCity Fan |

Four of us came here for dinner. Our server was really awesome. When she found out that biscuits which was served for the table was not one of my favorites, she offered to get me a basket of their semolina bread. The bread was awesome. I ordered one of their signature dish, the fried chicken. It was one of the best fried chicken I have had in Atlanta. The collards were also very good. The rest of the table ordered lamb and trout and they both looked really good. Cocktails were tasty. Overall a great dining experience. Definitely will return. Best bet is to make a reservation. They get very busy.

Fabulous

By LAStravels |

I had not previously been to this newer SCK but loved the ambiance, service and menu. Probably one of the best brunch venues in Buckhead.

Brunch

By Cat Daddy |

Like it’s midtown brother the place is a very popular brunch spot. We checked in 3 minutes before our 12:15 reservations and we waited and waited and finally I had enough it’s 12:35. I asked the hostess do they always run 25 minutes behind your reservation? I mean on open table they want you to call if you’re running late. She was incompetent. Magically we got seated right away. The manager Matt did come up and apologize which was very nice and got us a drink. Our waitress was nice not a ton of personality but she was quick and efficient. I had she crab soup amazing and beef brisket eggs Benedict. Melted in my mouth. Wife had the pork sandwich as said it was very good. So ruff start but strong finish.

Holiday lunch

By Shyrel T |

My boss took us out for a holiday lunch and I was not disappointed. Although the fried chicken was a little too dry for my taste it was delicious. The Moscow Mule that I ordered had a kick to it. Well made. Staff was friendly and unobtrusive. I like the Atmosphere and it helps tremendously that there is Valet parking. Will be back.

Dinner in the South

By Christa S |

We took a Lyft from our hotel and went to dinner with our teenage daughters. It was a nice ambiance. We sat outside with a covered deck with heaters. We shared an appetizer of fried green tomatoes and smoked salmon. I had shrimp and grits and my daughter ate the mushroom risotto. One of our friends had the She-Crab soup. Salad and side of Brussels Sprouts and grilled broccoli. Another ate the fried chicken. Everything was great. We had wine too! (The moms) so it was a great relaxing evening. It didn’t have a lot of choices to suit the teens but it was still great.

The food is delicious!

By tinkaluv |

This place has the BEST fried chicken I have ever tasted! Juicy and cooked to perfection, the chicken, collard greens and mashed potato dinner is a must. Our waitress was excellent and the hostess was friendly. The manager came around to each table to see how we liked the food. The complementary biscuits and corn bread were too good too. I love this place!

Southern food at its best!!!

By WilliamWillieWilson |

This is quintessential soul food in the Deep South at its best, executed at the highest level by a master chef in an upscale environment. Some of the impeccable southern dishes and clever appetizers and sides are fused with other cuisines, like the Greek-influenced Hazelnut Tabbouleh or the Korean-inspired Collard Green Kimchi. I’ve never seen Southern fare taken to such a level! The choices are impossible to narrow down; crab cakes or crab soup, scallops or oysters, quail or duck, pork BBQ or pork chops? The offerings are seemingly endless. So I went with the famous fried chicken. The meat is so juicy and tender enveloped in the perfectly thin, crispy batter with immense flavor. The chicken, raised only 80 miles away in rural Georgia, sits on a bed of essentially the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever eaten. Such a delicious amalgamation of red potatoes and rich flavors. The collard greens were certainly the best I’ve had, so tender and flavorful. The crab soup was wonderfully assembled, but probably needed more crab. I’m kicking myself for not saving enough room for the sour dough beignets, so they’re on my list for our next visit.

Great Ambiance! Even Better Food!

By Susan N |

Love the decor! It’s such a cute, comfortable atmosphere. The service was amazing and friendly! The best part, the food was off-the-chain (That means FABULOUS). I had the brisket. They happily substituted my side for a side salad (delicious) and didn’t hesitate a bit to accommodate my gluten-free needs. My friend was very impressed with her fried chicken too. I hear it’s their specialty.

Good lunch spot

By mleeunderwood |

I came here for a business lunch with a group of about 7 people. The service was great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really well done. I ordered a fairly simple salad with grilled salmon. It was pretty good, but kind of bland and the piece of salmon was much smaller than I expected. I would definitely give it another shot and maybe order something different.

Company Christmas Party

By wpgod722 |

As my title states it was a company party so I was not paying. I have to admit it is not signed very well and you have to look for the entrance to restaurant. The menu although quite pricey for the type of food they offer it is in Buckhead and I think caters to out of towners wanting Sothern cuisine. With that being said I had an excellent strip steak and spouse had chicken that was the best ever with collard greens and mashed potatoes. Service was very attentive and good. Pecan tart for desert was just okay.

Good but so-so value for money

By KnewGuessed |

Went there for lunch. We shared an appetizer and a main which was the right decision - portions were fairly sizeable. Honestly the food and service were quite good but it’s just a bit pricy for what it is. Not sure it’s really a destination that an out-of-towner needs to try. A lot of people seemed to be having business lunches - nice solid restaurant if you have an average expense allowance but a bit more than I’d pay out-of-pocket. Also got to add the parking, we parked in the lot beside the restaurant - it was about $15 for two hours. They do have valet parking if that’s your thing.

My goodness

By Mimes27 |

of course I ask the locals where to eat and YES, this is a great place for good eats. I came by for lunch so I didn't need a reservation, staff made excellent recommendations and the food was served QUICKLY. Perfect. Definitely recommend.

Best Shrimp & Grits Ever

By dscottf2018 |

A friend who lives in Atlanta promised that the best Shrimp and Grits dish in Atlanta is found at South City Kitchen. She was prophetic. Absolutely, hands down best ever … anywhere! My server Laura was cheerful, knowledgeable and customer-service oriented. Quite literally less than 10 minutes after I was seated the glorious entrée was delivered to my table bringing with it a savory aroma. Shrimp perfectly cooked, creamy firm grits and that sauce! Amazing depth of flavor from the smoked tomato-poblano sauce with small chunks of tasso ham, spicy but not overly hot. OMG! An experience I’ll remember for a very long time.

Hearty portions of really good food

So good, we went two evenings in a row. She crab soup was literally perfect- some sherry and a slight heat. Chicken livers on creamed corn were fantastic, and the crab cake with apple and fennel “slaw” on top with a citrus sauce was memorable. Loved that they serve red wine at 54 to 58 degrees as it should be. Great wine selection and incredible service. I’ll go a third time and more!!

Just okay

By mjatl |

I had dinner at SCK - Buckhead last night and was pretty disappointed. It wasn't bad, I was just expecting more. We started with the trout crostini & pimento cheese. Other than the pickles served with the cheese there was little flavor in either dish. The lamb chops were good but very fatty and one of 3 was tiny. For $42 I expect better. The dessert - lemon cream pie - was the highlight. The service was okay.

Teriffic Birthday Celebration Venue

By TESMom |

I took my husband and his family there for dinner to celebrate his birthday. They were able to accommodate us all and we had our own area with a dedicated server. Jose was wonderful attentive without being overwhelming. He saw to our every need. The food was great. Two in our group had the shrimps and grits and said it was very good. I would recommend this restaurant for the food, ambiance and service. I look forward to visiting there again soon.

Fried Chicken!!

By glenn g |

We were taken here by a local who is a food professional. We loved it! I am a fried chicken nut, and honestly, this was one of the best dishes I've had in a while. Not gourmet..... just friggin' delicious! Everything we had was great. We'll be returning.......

Brunch Done Right

By Imani B |

I feel buckhead doesn't offer great brunch options. That was until south city kitchen opened. Getting a sunday brunch on the patio is great. Excellent food and staff

Sunday brunch

By Thomas S |

Stopped here for brunch after church with two other couples. Loved the food and great atmosphere that you feel as soon as you walk in the door. Our server was attentive and cheerful. My wife and I each had the South City breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will be back here often with other friends and family!! Tom and Lisa

This is southern hospitality!

By sola123 |

This is the essence of southern hospitality and food. I felt welcomed like family, had a great table and delightful service. I found all the traditional dishes that Southern cuisine is known for. The she crab soup was very rich and creamy, as were the shrimp and grits with a huge serving, more shrimp than I could count, and a delicious smokey tomato gravy with chunks of ham. The serving could feed a family of four. I think this location is great for business people out for dinner together, lots of choices and a great bar.

Top Notch Southern Fare

By ddmullis |

If you are looking for true Southern cooking with Southern Hospitality and Atmosphere you will find it at this restaurant. Offering a top notch dining experience at a restaurant price is what you will find at South City Kitchen. The pimento cheese with housemade pickles was an excellent starter. The fresh corn muffins and biscuits were heavenly. For entrees we enjoyed grilled quail, hanger steak and fried chicken. The sides of collard greens, pinto bean cornbread and mashed potatoes were all very flavorful We ended our meal by sharing a banana pudding which was simply amazing The service was top notch for the entire dinner

YUM!

By 886tinal |

I went for chicken and waffles. Sorry only on weekends. But I had a chopped chicken salad, with the fried chicken, my partner had a glorious BLT w heirloom tomatoes. Loved the food. We sat at the bar and had an amazing service experience. The primary server did so many things at once, and all well. Several other staff chatted with us about our food and to just check in. Also heavenly biscuits and cornbread come with your food! I would eat here a lot if only we lived here. Absolutely delightful meal!

6/5 were such a thing possible

By Der_Krampus |

One problem with these review systems is that the reviewer might have a perfectly good experience all round, mark everything as 5/5, and then go on to have an even better time another night ... how on Earth can that be expressed? We found the place to be busy but the staff were attentive and didn't keep us waiting at all. The food was phenomenally good. Mrs K started with fried green tomatoes, I had pork belly. They were divine. For our main courses we had golden pea risotto and steak. Again, excellent dishes. I asked for medium-rare and that's exactly what I got: gently charred on the outside but pink inside. The steak was served on a bed of asparagus, potato, and a really interesting spicy sauce. It was probably one of the best steaks that I have ever eaten. We finished with coffee and American whiskey (when in Rome..) If you are in Atlanta, wondering where to have dinner, book a table at the South City Kitchen. You will be really glad that you did.

Excellence all the way around

By Grand_A_Foodie |

Did not disappoint. Excellent service, food and ambience. I easily booked a reservation on their website. The ambiance was lively but quieter than many restaurants today. One could actually have a quiet conversation. The crab cake appetizer was delicious, set in a cherry sauce and topped with peeled, marinated celery....a nice texture. Visiting the south, I had fried chicken for dinner. The breading was light and not at all greasy.

Ouch

By katie m |

I was so excited traveling to Atlanta to see my husband and have dinner I wanted to pick something with really great comfortable food for us to enjoy. As someone with Celiac, I need to seek out the gluten free options when we go anywhere. I was super excited for all that they had on the menu that I could eat! We ordered quite a few things and told our waitress of my condition and asked for the allergy treatment. The food was really good. The manager was so nice, visited all the tables, and convinced us to get dessert. The server was meh. When I got back after dinner I was extremely ill and continue to feel so sick. I haven't been as sick as I was last night in YEARS. I am so disappointed. I had such high hopes and now I've spent the day recovering and I still feel like I might be sick at any point. Great place, but contamination or lacking proper protocol for getting the food to a guest with an allergy is a definite issue.

Best restaurant ever. Period.

By Davis wilson |

Hands down my favorite place I’ve visited in Atlanta. Great food and excellent service. Our server Rashaad was one of the most personable and knowledgeable servers I’ve ever had in all my years on this earth. Come here for an unmatched experience.

Difficult to find, parking is rough, host was snooty and food was hit and miss

By CraftBeers |

This restaurant is very difficult to find. We circled the area several times and never saw a sign. We finally pulled into a parking garage, paid $20 to park there, and asked the attendant where we could find the restaurant. He pointed us right to it. Only when I was standing 10 feet in front of the door did I see the all but invisible tiny sign. The parking garage next door says restaurants may validate your ticket. This restaurant does not. Once we went through the front door, the host was snooty, full of herself and not helpful. How dare we arrive without reservations. They sat us right away, so why the attitude I don't know. The tables around us never did completely fill up, so it's not like they did not have immediate seating. The atmosphere is enjoyable. The front room is white table cloth service. The back room by the bar is more relaxed. Oddly, there is not bathroom in the restaurant. You have to go through the back door out into the lobby of the main building to use their restroom. Food was hit and miss. I will say the King Biscuit is to die for. Wholly smokes that was good. The ham sitting on the biscuit was cooked perfectly with a slightly smokey/salt bark. The melted Gouda mingled with the silky egg and topped with scallions. Soo good. The pulled pork sandwich was okay as was the risotto. I'm pretty sure I would not be back, but I am still thinking about that King Biscuit.

Managed a crowd well

By heatherac |

It's always hard to find places that can manage a business party of 10+, so this is worth mentioning. It was a little weird standing around the crowded bar as we waited for a table, but all great after we were seated. Our visitors enjoyed the local southern cuisine.

Southern style cooking at its best

By Zigett |

Located very close to the Intercontinental Buckhead, this is a really popular place with friendly service and well executed Southern staples. Our fried chicken was very good as was the shrimp and grits. The complimentary biscuits and cornbread were great too.

A Must!!!

By Johnny S |

Be sure to check this wonderful restaurant out if you are in the Buckhead area!! Try the fried chicken! Amazing!!

Love It!

By Colleen R |

I often bring guests visiting from out of town to South City Kitchen, as it gives a great taste of Atlanta. The biscuits are great, as is the fried chicken. Sit on the porch if you can.

Great for a cheat day!

By maclbanks |

Want to be hugged and feel warm inside...come here and have an outstanding meal. The “Nashville Hot” Fried Chicken is the BOMB! bring some friend and order and share, get the full experience.

Sunday Brunch!!

By Perry6153 |

First time here and really enjoyed the Sunday brunch! I normally appreciate a buffet brunch, but the one plate was plentiful enough especially on a hot Atlanta day. When our food arrived to the table it was still warm. The service was impeccable, from the host at the door to all the servers that helped out. If we needed something and our dedicated server was busy assisting another patron, any server was happy to assist. I will definitely return and recommend this restaurant.

Excellent

By Tamara M |

My husband and I recently moved to Atlanta and decided to dine at the South City Kitchen in Buckhead for our Christmas Eve dinner. Our server was Cortez and he was excellent, very friendly and efficient. Our food was excellent as well, from start to finish we were amazed at how good everything tasted. We will definitely be back to dine again soon.

Excellent for local food as a couple or with friends.

By KarinS406 |

In Peachtree Road, creek of the most important hotels. Very good place with good local cuisine. Well served and fast with great variety of dishes. I recommend brunch with good coffee and sandwiches. The place is spacious, they accept reservations for small and large groups. We also went with friends on another occasion, being very well taken care of. It has a large space, 2 floors, private dining room and terrace.

Not to be missed for ingenious Southern Cooking!

By Deby S |

Our hotel manager recommended this restaurant and we were so thrilled that he did!!! Plenty of parking areas close by which is especially helpful in this city. The decor and lighting provided a lovely ambiance. Our darling server Tiana was charming and excellent helping us choose among the many yummy sounding Southern dishes. We split the most incredible fried green tomatoes that we ever had! Mike had their bowl of she crab soup that he savored and I had their delicious smoky chicken livers with creamed corn. Oh my gosh! The dish was so flavorful and rich that I barely was able to finish half of it!!! (I noticed that many carried out leftovers…) I was also impressed by their not too extensive wine list. Excellent choices there too! My Sauvignon Blanc was top notch and a healthy pour!!! I split a second glass with my hubby for our dessert. Although the desserts sounded fabulous too! Definitely find one of this restaurant locations in this lovely Southern city!!! I can’t imagine you will be disappointed!

Best fried chicken ever! Thanksgiving not as good.

By Pamela P |

We had stayed 2 nights in this area and ate at this restaurant twice. First night-fantastic! Get the fried chicken! All of us did and raved about it. Service excellent both nights but the turkey was kind of rubbery and gravy lacked flavor onThanksgiving day. I’d return for the chicken any day!

Intimate dinner experience

By Stephanie G |

I came by myself for a late dinner while traveling for work. I wasn't the only solo diner I noticed, and the waiter made me feel very welcome and comfortable. I got their top item, the fried chicken, which, for me, was good, but not great. I prefer dark meat, and I found it a little dry. The biscuit, cornbread and greens were awesome, and I had an interesting dessert. I'd go back again and try some other menu items.

All you need is here

By ScottD58 |

Love Southern cooking? All you need is here. I sat at the bar and ordered Fried Green Tomatoes and it came with biscuits and corn bread. Can’t get much better!

Ok but overpriced

By W H |

Recently visited this upscale restaurant featuring Southern cuisine. Food was average and in my opinion overpriced. Southern fried chicken was nothing special with red bliss mashed potatoes (which were tasty) and collared greens (unremarkable). Seasonal pumpkin risotto was very salty and tasteless, my wife swapped with me for my half portion of remaining potatoes. Fried green tomatoes were tasty. Desserts were very small but good. Without drinks two mains and an app with dessert and tip was north of $110.00. Meh.

Southern Food

By Delphine J |

Very Southern menu. If you like Fried Chicken, Shrimp and Grits, Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Chicken Livers then this the place for you! Personally I found it hard to find good healthy options, lots of meat and things cooked in bacon fat! But I went for the Vegetarian option of Farro with mushrooms and it was very good. One of my friends had Quail and the other had trout which they both enjoyed. One friend has been to SCK regularly and loves the shrimp and Grits. Nice atmosphere, outdoor covered seating available.

Southern food at its best

By The Irish Samoan |

***Atmosphere*** The bar area is sleek and always poppin, the patio is amazing in good weather, and the overall feel of the place is just...cool. For a special occasion, hosting friends from out of town, or a romantic date night, this is a perfect location. ***Food*** Everything I've ever eaten here is delicious. They're known for the fried chicken and it does not disappoint (order some on the side if you don't get the entree, its too good to miss out), but I've had about 10 different entrees that were all equally incredible and you gotta love the southern style menu. Fantastic cocktails as well. ***Service*** The first time I ate here was lunch at the bar and the bartender made me some lemonade drink (I think its on the menu most of the time) and talked to me about how he was so obsessed with the fried chicken that he HAD to work here. Great first impression. Since then I've eaten here probably 10 times and the service is always great. If you're reserving a table then request to be seated in the main room because there are a few side rooms with a lot less vibe.

Consistently great food and service!

By SouthernBelles98 |

It’s been a year since visiting this restaurant as part of a special pre- Peachtree Road Race trip. The service and food is fantastic. It’s not always easy to find a good place for a solo traveler but my experiences here continue to be positive and relaxing. The staff is very attentive and willing to make recommendations. I loved the Caesar salad with grilled chicken add on and the grilled asparagus side. It was very satisfying and filling. For drinks I really liked the Grand Elder which was a mix of tequila. Mezcal hibiscus and orange. I also had a glass of Chardonnay which was very nice. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit!! Until next time!

Great Southern Brunch

By Carl A |

I wanted my family to experience some typical but high quality southern cuisine, and this name kept coming up. It did not disappoint. If you think all southern food is triple fried and processed twice, challenge your expectations and enjoy a meal here. Recommend :shrimp & grits, crab cake, fried chicken and waffles

New Year Eve party

By Jan M |

We so enjoyed our News Years Eve visit. The menu had a nice selection for all tastes, the service was great and the atmosphere was festive. Typically, our group finds that the New Years dinner is not up to the normal standard of a restaurant, but we did not find that to be true on this visit. Great job South City Kitchen.

Great patio but marginal food and service.

By Randall O |

Actually, it was quited disappointing for the location. We expected more. The bartender was slow and forgot orders. The wine she recommended instead of Merlot was thin and watery; it wasn't even close to a Merlot. The collard greens were mushy and overcooked and the grape salad was a complete mystery; I have no idea who thought that was a good idea.

What you like about the South

By richard a |

Walking distance from Buckhead hotel row the restaurant was full on a wed, nite so that spoke well about the food. As i was a single diner the Servers found me a table in the lounge Had a Georgia Trout entree which server kindly accommodated my need for Grits by substituting same for dish's regular cauliflower accompaniment. Cornbread was excellent. Wide Selection of local craft beers reasonably priced.

Best Restaurant in Atlanta!

By Kathy Jun |

This place blew my mind from start to finish. Everything was perfect. We made reservations because concierge at our hotel recommended that we do and as soon as we arrived we were sat at the exact time of our reservation while there were many guests waiting. Our server, Rashad was probably one of the most knowledgable and charming people I have ever met. He actually made me taste the food with the way he described it before it hit the table! Very prompt, and elegant service. The food was INCREDIBLE! If you have never had a fried green tomato before seriously go get some now. Ordered the spring rabbit and it was one the most interesting, fun, and beautiful dishes I've ever eaten. Their complimentary rolls should not be free they are that good. The strawberry sundae was also a must try! Beautiful restaurant, food, service, and atmosphere; will definitely be back!!!

I wish I could eat here more often

By D H |

I was in Atlanta for a course and a few of us decided to try this restaurant on the recommendation of our instructors at ADI. Most of us ordered the fried chicken and one ordered the lamb. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food was delicious. We asked our server for her suggestions on appetizers and desserts and her advice was spot on and we all enjoyed everything very much. I probably won't be in Atlanta again, but if I am this place is definitely my first stop for something to eat. I will also recommend to anyone visiting this restaurant to try the fried chicken..it was truly amazing.

You Can't Go Wrong Here

Divine food and drink, attentive staff, comfortable and stylish interior. I visit every time I'm in Atlanta.

Repeat Customer

By 481kentd |

On an annual visit to Atlanta, I was introduced to the is restaurant last year and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and service. I went back this year recently with a colleague. We were not to be disappointed and were overwhelmed with how great of a dining experience we had. We came back the next night, too. If anyone is hankering for a good Southern dinner and have great service, put South City Kitchen on your Atlanta bucket list.

Nice food for a correct price

By Stefan W |

We went to this restaurant with 5 colleagues and had a good time. Nice drinks in a good atmosphere and the friendly staff was a good way to start the evening. We took the chicken liver and the shrimps as starter and the lamb and some fish as entree. Everything was tasteful and we'll cooked. Nothing more nothing less

Nice quick weekday dinner

By Jemila E |

Good food. Didnt wait too long. Decent service even while it was busy. Would recommend the shrimp and grits. Buckhead location was very wallable

Good food, bad service.

By Jonathan F |

Food was great, but our waitress was more concerned about others around us who obviously had more money than us. I would not recommend this establishment due to the service.

Great Dinner!

By VeeW914 |

Great location, service and food! We ordered chicken and didn't wait long for the meals to arrive. Good flavor, moist and the right amount of crunch. We arrived an hour after they opened, so it didn't fill up until after we were seated. Overall satisfied and would return as there are a few other items we're interested in trying.

Tasty southern food

By David H |

We had a fun dinner at this Bulkhead restaurant last night with excellent food, good service and some fun cocktails and wines. The focus is on southern food with some classical dishes like fried green tomatoes and barbecued shrimp that have been on the menu from the beginning. Other parts of the menu change with the seasons. The entrees were copious in quantity. We ordered several side dishes but honestly did not need them as the entrees had a good serving of vegetables and starch. Excellent flavors and friendly service.

Too salty for this Yankee...

By Kate F |

For the hype we heard from the waiter about how great the various menu items were (e.g.,"fried chicken recipe hasn't changed in 20 years, so it's obviously a really good one"), I was very disappointed. The chicken was dry and the coating was over-seasoned. The mashed potatoes were decent. I make better collard greens. Best part of meal were the cornbread muffins. Delicious. The biscuits, on the other hand, were so doughy I could barely choke down the first bite. Fried green tomato appetizer was quite good. Shrimp & Geechie Boy Grits, not so much. We had had a fabulous lunch at Flower Child and were expecting this meal to be as good or better. It was more expensive and less tasty. Felt sick by the time we got up to leave. Would not go back. Obviously a lot of people like this food. It really didn't agree with me, and I'm not a very picky eater.

great food and service at a reasonable price.

By Joshzac |

Got hungry and decided to try out the south city kitchen and was pleasantly rewarded. There was a 20-minute wait so decided to eat at the bar. Was well taken cared for by professional, charismatic and attentive staff. The food was excellent for the three of us. Don't miss out and give them a try.

Very Good Southern Cuisine

By Victor W |

After a long night attending a family wedding in Atlanta we went for brunch at the South City Kitchen. Our party started off with drinks which included Bloody Mary’s. For our meal we had their fried green tomatoes, malted buttermilk waffles and brisket Benedict. All in our party enjoyed their selections very much. Ambience very nice and wait staff very good. For good southern cuisine this a place to visit.

Our daughter made reservations for us to eat at South City for this past Saturday night and we are so glad she did! Our daughter and daughter in law and husband and I all enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service so much!! My husband and I had the fried chicken! It was perfectly cooked and he had collard greens and mashed potatoes while I had Crisped Okra and mashed potatoes!! The food was so goooood!!!!! Our waiter's name was Kevin. He was so attentive, pleasant and funny!!!

Pretty crowded on a Tuesday

By mschmidt31 |

Pretty crowded on a Tuesday They have Pappy Van Winkle bourbon at $21 or $24 a serving! (Very reasonable for this hard-to-find spirit) Pork cheek appetizer was great I loved the pork chop entree

Amazing Cusine

By Melvmfa212 |

This place is great. The food was wonderful. Southern inspired foods that were simply delicious. New twists on everything from fried chicken to bison short ribs. The fried green tomatoes also magnificent. A great menu, full bar, and great wines. You also have to try their Dessert donuts in a Blueberry Compote. The staff were also super friendly and engaging. The bartender Cortez was one of the best we’ve encountered, and Lauren was awesome as well.

Birthday celebration

By Patti H |

Anthony our server was amazing! This was our first visit, and will return. The fresh made from scratch menu is amazing. We had the fried green tomatoes, salmon, and of course the fried chicken..AAAAAAMMMMAAAZING

Great meal with great service.

By Russell L |

Beautiful restaurant with very good food and excellent service. We had the fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese and a few other appetizers, all of which were very good. Everyone at my table ordered the fried chicken which they all enjoyed. I had the short rib which was delightful. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.

Good Southern Style Food

By kimmysue42 |

We walked to this restaurant from our hotel. It was a rainy night which was unfortunate because it would seem to be a more pleasant to sit with the windows open in the lower front room that we ate in. We started with the fried green tomatoes- so good! For dinner I had the fried chicken which was excellent. My friends had the strip steak and the lentils & mushrooms( vegan choice). They were both happy with their choices as well. Being from the north, we liked these southern meals. Thank you.

Modern take on southern food

By Gergana |

Deh-licious. I don't know what else to say about South City Kitchen. I'm in town on business and came here right after landing in Atlanta. I came in around 1pm on a Saturday, no reservation, and was able to find a spot at the bar. Full menu available so I had their chicken-and-waffle special, the fried green tomatoes and the kir royale cocktail. Every single thing was amazing, including those biscuits they serve instead of bread. To. Die. For. My bill was over $60 for a single person, so not cheap. I had an appetizer, a meal, and 2 drinks. Did not mind spending the money. I used their valet parking - the $5 was definitely worth it. If I'm ever back in Atlanta, will be coming back for more.

Good Southen Food and Service

By O2006 |

The meal portions are not big but you get you're fill. The food is unique and good with friendly southern style service. We had a big group of 12 and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I had the Monk fish and really liked it. The wine selection was a bit limited but serviceable.

Unique Place

By George M |

Had a business lunch there arriving early and was impressed with the neighborhood ambiance and service was impeccable. All enjoyed there lunch selections. I would return.

Super Food, Really Good Value, Special People

By Norman B |

Just had a super good dinner tonight! Chef Jason and our server, Johnny, made everything really special for us and our grandkids. It was fun to sit where we all could see the action of finishing entrees on the line. The food was truly fabulous and excellent value! We will be back for sure! Loved it all!

A place you need to try

By Jim |

Went to try out based on a recommendation from a chef. While there I tried a couple of appetizers. The She-Crab soup was very good, I recommend trying it. The second recommendation is the smoked pork belly. Thier menu had offerings to satisfy most appetites. A shout out to Ariel, who provided excellent bar service and provide suggestions relating to the menu. If in the area stop by and experience South City, I think you will agree it very good

Great Food and Service

By Robin F |

Went for brunch on Saturday around noon. No reservation but we were seated within around 10 to 15 minutes. Our server, Brantley was friendly and gave great recommendations. I had the Brunch Bellini cocktail (peach purée and champagne, similar to a Mimosa) and the King Biscuit with a side of Skillet potatoes. Both were wonderful. My wife had the grilled salmon and enjoyed it as well. The service was excellent.

Very nice place w/awesome food

By Per H |

Stayed close by so dined there by chance. No reservations so we got to sit at the bar. Service was excellent, the female waitress behind the bar was one of the best I have ever seen. She was efficient and despite being very busy she managed to give everyone a great service. We had the risotto with shrimp, very generous portions that we didn’t manage to finish.

Real Fried Kitchen, Yummy !

By Alan C |

I was really set on getting some Southern Fried Chicken with all the fixings. Collard Greens, Mash Potatoes and biscuits. They hit out the park. Excellent and Neil our server was outstanding

Good food

By Richard W |

The atmosphere and the service is very good. We had the crab cake and beet salad for apps. Both are very good. The chicken is what we had heard, fabulous. My wife had chicken I had the pork chops, another recommend, outstanding. The sides not so much. They were just like warm and just ok in taste. Desert we had the pecan slab. Ok but too many nuts especially in the ice cream too? Other than that we will return but the sides need work.

Best Pork Chop Ever!

By Henry B |

I'm honestly not sure if I've ever had a better pork chop. Food, drinks, ambiance were good, volume just right for a busy place. Servers were funny, engaged, and my glass (water) was never empty! If I return to buckhead, I will be making this a stop.

Maybe It Is What It Is

By lobels |

Totally did not enjoy this restaurant. Came with great expectations and appetite . Found the signature dishes not worthy of that title at all. Had the pork and chicken. Neither dish packed a punch.

Good meal, great service, pricey

By tanda367 |

My sister and I had dinner at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and answered all our questions and made suggestions. We had the fried green tomatoes (can never go wrong with goat cheese!). They then brought out some biscuits and cornbread. Both were good but the biscuits were very good and fluffy. She had the bison shortribs, which were very delicious and tender, falling off the bone, but at $47 they should be. I had the trout which was just ok. The roasted vegetables were nicely flavored. I also had a side of grits and they were bland and not cheesy.

Disappointing

By 1073BB |

I’d been wanting to eat at one of the South City Kitchen locations for years and so I was pleased when guests visiting from Toronto and France suggested we all go out to eat at the one in Buckhead just so they could try the region’s much lauded shrimp and grits. I was so disappointed. The surroundings are sleek, sophisticated, contemporary (the antithesis of what you’d expect for a “down home” southern dining experience but that okay by me). Our table on the outdoor patio could have not been more atmospheric, surrounded as it was by greenery for a cozy, private feel, on a (fairly) pleasant August evening. (You must surely know by now that it takes a while for me to get around to doing things.) But I found the waiter a tad cheeky and forward (hey! whatever gets you through your shift!). The shrimp and grits ($23) was alarmingly soupy, salty (could have been due to the bits of ham—never seen that before) and “funny” tasting (could have been due to the smoked tomato and poblano gravy, another odd addition). Well, this jazzed-up-to-be-different version simply did not work for me. The others who ordered it—although they had nothing to compare it to—did not particularly enjoy it, either. What a shame. A good portion of a $220 tab down the drain.

Impeccable service, amazing food...GO.

By LTBergren67 |

This is the 3rd time we have gone to the Buckhead location...the 1st being at the downtown location. We adore the service--which is excellent from the hostess through the bill--the unique cocktails, and the food. We tried the crab cake app, the grains and greens, the pimento cheese, the hangar steak and the fried chicken. All wins on the YUMMO factor. Enjoy. Tell them Lisa from Colorado sent you. And she wishes they'd open a location there.

A must in Buckhead!

By RobertoMurphy |

This restaurant is in Buckhead, a very nice neighborhood in North Atlanta, and it is a very good choice to enjoy a nice evening with family and friends. The ambience is great, and the service is superb. You will not regret having a nice meal there!

Southern food at its best

By BER0416 |

South City Kitchen has amazing southern food. I had the signature dinner - the fried chicken. It was served with mashed potatoes and collard greens which. It was absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender and cooked to perfection as were the sides. I really enjoyed dinner here and will come back soon.

Mediocre Food But Great Service

By Marybeth P |

We dined here for Thanksgiving. Our server was outstanding! The cornbread was very good. The crab cake was cold. The turkey was underwhelming and the collards lacked flavor. Dessert was good. This is a VERY overpriced restaurant for the quality of food. But our server alone is the reason I gave an Average instead of Poor review. He was great and the establishment should be happy about that. It is a nice looking restaurant but just not worth the price.

Great food & service with GF options

By efm16 |

Went for a group business dinner and had the private room up by the kitchen. Service was really great for a large group, attentive and pretty speedy for the size of the group. Drinks were tasty. Then...the food was DELICIOUS! And many gluten free options and knowledgeable servers willing to double check and make sure my food was safe. I was so glad I got introduced to this place through my work, I'd definitely love to eat there again.

Great food - great service

By Lynne P |

I was in Atlanta for a week and ate here three times. Loved the service - very friendly waiters and bar staff. Nice variety of food choices for lunch of salads and sandwiches. Try the Modern Romance drink and a slice of coconut cream pie!

Pretty Average

By teena1014 |

Service wasn't great... it took a long time to get our food and our waitress kept disappearing. The food was okay, nothing spectacular. The portions were very small, and I don't need a very big portion. I just don't understand all of the great reviews.

delicious and great staff

By Beth W |

Visited with family. Super nice staff. Food was delicious. Would go again if in Atlanta. enjoyed the she crab soup.

Wow......the grits

By JTKnott |

Our hotel recommended South City Kitchen for a great Sunday morning breakfast. The decor is casual, but very pleasant. After the waiter stated they had the best fried chicken in town, I ordered the fried chicken and waffle. Both were very good. It is hard to screw up a waffle. My wife, who is a grits lover from rural North Carolina, ordered the shrimp and grits. She would only give me a taste, but both of us would say this was the best shrimp and grits we have ever had. Especially the grits, which we were told was made with grits, cream and butter, were out of this world. What an outstanding dish!

Southern Food & Southern Service at its best

By pbredewater |

South City Kitchen has a great vibe....from the minute you walk in you feel the energy...It was quite busy so we opted for a table or the bar - which ever opened up first. We ended up at the bar- Lauren took our drink orders- I was not sure of which red wine I wanted so she asked me a few questions and came up with the perfect glass of wine for me...Shy helped us with dinner options and we were not disappointed. We had the braised short ribs and a side of their famous fried chicken and added some grits....A wonderful meal with more than gracious servers!

Biscuit heaven with cornbread clouds

By Bryan B |

This is a quick review. The brunch at South City Kitchen is a great brunch place. Get a reservation or get ready to wait. For starters parking is valet for 2$ which can't be beat. Of course guys hope for a 5$. Still cheap. The brunch menu is reasonable and tastes great. I like the grits, eggs and bacon which is a normal item for about 13$. The meals are proceeded by a basket of bread which is a mixture of biscuits and cornbread. Please beware they are so good this will be a carb loading day. Biscuits are a little salty which makes them even better. Cornbread has whole kernels it so old school. One of those times when it's good to be bad. 😀 A couple with no alcohol can grab a trendy and very nice breakfast in a upscale atmosphere for under 40$ with tip. Service is good but not fussy and the dress for customers is mostly casual with a few church dressed folks sprinkled in. They have some patio dining but it is high demand.

Sinner with friends

This restaurant was amazing. It was located in a hotel and was very clean. The wait staff was awesome and very attentive. The food was delicious! I had the friend chicken and my fiancé had the half chicken/baked. The prices were a bit high but the experience was worth it. It’s located in an outdoor mall area where you can find all kinds of shops from the Gap to Chanel.

Nice comfort food

Service was great - our server was very friendly and gave good recommendations. I was starving so I started with a casesar salad. The grit croutons were sort of bizarre, but I did enjoy the fired okra it was served with. My husband had a BBQ sandwich and really liked it. He asked for fries but got chips instead, which was fine because the chips were great. I had the Nashville "hot" fried chicken sandwich. It was messy and spicy and delicious. Huge portions, so come hungry. Nice beer and liquor selection too.

Great southern food

By Gary S |

Had chicken livers as an appetizer and fried chicken as an entree with sides of fried green tomatoes and stewed okra and tomatoes. Everything was excellent and our server was very personable and accommodating. Great whiskey selection along with lots of craft beer to choose from. Would definitely go back.

Chill Solo Dining - loved my experience here!

By SouthernBelles98 |

I’m staying in the area for the Peachtree Road Race and wanted a chill early dinner out before the big day on a patio. I loved my experience here! It was just what I wanted. It’s always nice to find places where you feel comfortable dining solo! I enjoyed the Green Salad with grilled chicken and it was so good. I think I would have been bored with just the salad but I loved the pecorino seasoning. I also enjoyed a nice glass of wine and lots of water. The staff was very friendly and nothing was rushed. Would definitely return and next time get the fried green tomatoes!

Saturday Brunch

Great meal. Everything we had was delicious. Biscuits melt in your mouth. Service was excellent. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because I think the prices are astronomical for brunch.

Southern Gourmet Brunch

Such a great brunch spot on Sunday mornings!!! Great atmosphere, great servers, delicious food. Oh, and mimosas! You can't go wrong with this spot. Check out the fried green tomatoes and chicken & waffles. The biscuits they bring before the meal arrives, might be the best I've ever eaten. Can't say enough about this place.

Sensational

Our party of 8 was seated in a lovely private space. Every one loved the cornbread. Best we ever tasted. The pimento cheese is delicious and a little spicy. The meatloaf was wonderful. The service was great. The wine and cocktail list varied.

Elegant dining, reasonably priced for fine cuisine. Staff very friendly, valet parking minimum fee. Location inconvenient but the food is worth the trip.

One of my most favorite restaurants in The ATL

By Cat Daddy |

Meeting in buckhead and decided to get dinner. I didn’t know that they opened this restaurant in buckhead. I always drove to crescent in midtown. I’m so happy. I had she crab soup marvelous. And crispy red fish. Such flavor. My business partner order pork chop came out a little to rare and cold. So he asked about the server was so nice she got him the fried chicken within minutes. He loved it place is smal around the bar where we ate. No reservation should have known but didn’t realize it was so close

Attention to detail.

Came here for a business meeting and it was good. Nice southern charm, I think it was a house from the good ole days that's been converted to a restaurant. I noticed the employees would constantly be walking around looking at the tables to make sure everything was okay and that was nice. I had the quail for dinner and while it tasted good I didnt know it was going the be as bony.

Great food, bar, staff and atmosphere - S. City's got Game!

By JAB611 |

South City Kitchen is a quadruple threat! I love good Game and to be close to the action - so I sat at the bar and ordered the Grilled Quail from their very eclectic menu - excellent! Service was prompt and the bartenders absolutely on their game. The accompanying Biscuit and cornbread were a highlight reel slam dunk. The staff was professional, courteous and total team players - with lockdown coverage of your every need. A beautiful, well managed restaurant with a great game plan for dinning, lounging or just posting up at the bar! Even the valet service coming off the bench was all star caliber. If I had not gotten stuffed - would have headed into OT for dessert. I highly recommend a break from the mundane and that you get to S. City as fast as you can!

Great night out

By jersey5454 |

We had a great server which makes all the difference in the world. He made suggestions and answered our questions and talked us into trying a wine that came in a can! It was really good once you got past the fact that it was in a can! Dinner was good and Mary had their signature fried chicken that did not disappoint. Had espresso after dinner and they accommodated my request for a bit of lemon peel and a sugar cube. We shared the chocolate quinoa cake that was great. Make reservations here!

Excellent Southern food and service

By Ellen F |

Visiting Atlanta and old friends took us here for a bit of Southern cooking. The flavors were authentic, the menu was varied, the food was beautifully presented and the service was excellent. They let us sit for ours and catch up over appetizers, drinks, main courses and a huge selection of desserts. Highly recommend a visit here. They seated a few of us early and the night was a delight from here on.

Brunch

By Caitlin P |

This has got to be one of the worst brunch spots in Atlanta. We didn’t make a reservation and got seated in 15 minutes so that was a plus. I ordered coffee and the waffles. Our server never came around to refill our $3 cup of coffee or check on the table. My waffle was pathetic. It wasn’t very warm and it didn’t have pecans on it like the menu stated. It is something I could have made in a waffle maker at a complimentary breakfast at Hampton Inn. There was no butter with it and the maple syrup wasn’t warm. I could have had a much better waffle at Waffle House and paid a 1/4th of the price. I love brunch and I have no problem spending money on it but this was such a waste.

Great shrimp and grits!

By MexRazor |

Went here for dinner with some business associates last night as it was a short walk from the hotel. Great ambiance and very friendly service. Loved the open kitchen concept. The restaurant was crowded for a Sunday evening but we were seated in about 5 minutes. For a starter I had a cup of the She Crab cream...tasty with small bits of chopped crab on top. Portion was small but since it was so rich it was just the right size. Others at the table had the crab cake appetizer which looked really good and they raved about it. For my main course I had the Shrimp and Grits which were incredibly good. Grits were creamy and perfectly seasoned. Tasso ham was sprinkled throughout and gave a great saltiness to the dish. Shrimp were the perfect temp and very abundant and the smoked tomato and poblano gravy brought the whole dish together. The dessert selection was all tempting but we decided on the Chocolate Caramel Angel Pie which was perfectly luscious and balanced between the chocolate and salted caramel. Highly recommend this place and plan on going back for their signature fried chicken.

Brunch 6+ 🌟
