Use to be Nancy G’s and always exceeded expectations. Through the changes it has changed. So convenient and wonderful atmosphere. Food, that has changed a lot. Today our waitress after looking at the lunch selections, a lunch special, Crab cake with the sauce…lol…on a bum. Yum! Big deal when arriving large crab cake on briosche bun aoli sauce tomato, lettuce…..cut or should I say started to cut in half and the crab cake ran our of from under the bun like lumpy soup. Really Gross and laughingly told our waitress. She needed to know not to suggest as she said, it was a messy sandwich…lol Hope she conveyed to the chef’s , they would not have been proud. Granddaughters Birthday belated lunch and her Mom, my DIL was paying and I glimpsed at the receipt & my $20.00 Lunch Special was on the bill.

Went here once again for brunch after church on Sunday. I think that the food is both interesting and delicious. Many good choices on the menu. I had the Country Club Salad that includes warm pieces of fried chicken on top. My wife had the Breakfast Club Sandwich that includes avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese and a fried egg on brioche bread. We shared and enjoyed both. The service is friendly and helpful. I think that this is a great neighborhood spot and always wonder why we do not go more often.

We tried this restaurant a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it, so returned again for dinner with out-of-town guests. What a disappointment. The pre-dinner biscuits that we enjoyed so much last time were greasy and flavorless tonight. Three of us who had turkey burgers were unable to eat them because of a mushy texture that didn't resemble meat. To their credit, the servers tried to be very helpful and offered to bring us other food, but the damage had been done. Our appetites were gone.

Fun, casual good family style restaurant. Good little biscuits come to the table. Had a turkey burger and great sweet potato fries. Very family friendly...crayons and paper on the table. Net/net...so many great restaurants in Atlanta....but if you're on Roswell Road...and need something quick, inexpensive and fun....stop by!

My second time visiting Georgia and I had to make sure to come back here for the Shrimps & Grits! It is the most tasty I ever had! I also tried the pound cake on my first visit, I wish I had it again but we had to keep our lunch short. This is going to be a regular for me when I am in town.

Amazing food ! Great Service ! Ask for Lavonne she was wonderful ! We had the fried green tomatoes, the AM burgers , the grilled chicken salad and we tried the Belgian waffle ! Chefs Kiss ! Can’t wait to come back ! Loved it !

We read an nice article about Nancy G's changing its name to Souther Bistro and working with a new partner. Th si was the first time in the restaurant and we were very pleased with all the food. This restaurant has a southern flair with al little bit of New Orleans dishes.

Staff were very accommodating for the children: crayons, children's menu, high chairs, etc. Burgers were cooked very nicely, and to order. Unlimited refills on sodas. No one was rushed. They ran out of biscuits, so they brought a substitute roll which was quite good.

Great lunch spot. The sweet potato fries are especially good, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Got a 70.00 take out tab and got very little .Thought it was going to give me fried chicken pieces and got a half a breast for 20 dollars.35 for 2 very small Crab patties.Shrimp that was mushy never good.shrimp and grits..NO biscuit lol soo great? Whats all the great reviews?

This place is wonderful. The staff is always friendly. The food is great too. The patio is dog friendly. Everything on the menu is delish! I have never had a bad meal here.

Friendly neighborhood restaurant with well prepared comfort food. Nancy G is gracious and welcoming.

I normally would not have targeted a restaurant in a strip mall but went to visit friends and she couldn't wait to take us there. The food was excellent, the service was superb and the atmosphere was very inviting. It is hard to find a restaurant where you can sit and visit but the noise level around us was low. Would definitely go back!

Recently had lunch again at Nancy G's, which has apparently been renamed to Chastain Bistro. Not sure I like the name but I do like the restaurant. Locally owned by a husband and wife team it has been in the same location for many years. They always have daily specials and it is quiet enough to have a social or business conversation. I had a small salad and the chicken and sausage gumbo and it was tasty. Service could have been better but the food was certainly up to the expected standard. If you are in the north Buckhead area, try this lovely and refined restaurant.

My family ate at Southern Bistro (formerly Nancy G’s) last night. We had the best experience. From the folks who picked up the phone to take our reservation, to the hostess allowing my elderly sister-in-law to choose her own table, and especially the fantastic server, Ayesha, we were given the best service - and with a smile. I’m writing this because we’ve been to Southern Bistro in the past when some folks (on the phone and wait staff) have been a bit “surly”, which had reduced our enthusiasm for frequenting this spot. But the food always brought us back. The food is why you go to a restaurant after all, but having a great staff really adds to the experience in a exponential way. As for the food: Wow. Chicken and Dumplings was the Tuesday night special. And it sounded great, but there were so many other fantastic sounding dishes on the menu - we all ended up picking a standard dish. The little biscuits they bring to your table are just the right size for someone who doesn’t want to “fill up on bread” but still wants something. They are soft and warm on the inside and just crusty enough on the outside. My sister-in-law and I also enjoyed a cocktail from the bar - my favorite is the lemon drop with the sugared rim. YUM. We will be back. We hope Ayesha is our server each and every time we come back. She answered every question - she suggested sides and options - she was attentive and kept the meal going - but not too fast. Thanks Ayesha for making it a memorable family evening for us. Everything was perfect.

This is our go-to neighborhood restaurant for a family meal. We probably eat here once a week, either for dinner or Sunday breakfast. Friendly staff, nice and clean space, and the food is consistent and tasty. They mix up their menu seasonally, so that’s fun.

Excellent staff, very friendly & knowledgeable....Food was excellent, especially my Reuben sandwich and homemade chips! Nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

I ate here visiting my daughter in Sandy Springs. It seemed to be a cozy, relaxed place where I would probably be be a regular if I lived nearby. Our food was tasty and well-prepared. There is a small bar in the back and a room off to the side for groups. The service was excellent! And the prices very reasonable. I recommend.

Enjoyed lunch on Roswell Road ITP (inside the Perimeter). Varied healthy menu, attentive service and nice vibe - all the things I love. A friend suggested Nancy G's - can't believe it's so close to my neighborhood and had never been here. Will definitely be back for lunch with friends. Want to try for dinner as well.

We were a group of 6 and arrived on time and were seated immediately - I did make reservations in advance. The service was impeccable and the food was so good everyone said they would be back. I highly recommend this little jewel in Sandy Springs.

Yes, this restaurant has a new name! Last night was a first time visit for most of my group. We had found this restaurant on a must try in Atlanta list so we traveled an hour from home. We were a party of six and had a reservation. We were welcomed and promptly seated. The restaurant was busy, but not crowded. This is a smallish restaurant that is relaxed, but not too casual. Our waitress, Christy, was friendly and very efficient. We shared appetizers of calamari, which was outstanding, crispy on the outside and tender inside, and the blackened Brussel sprouts were delicious also. There were orders of crab cakes, salmon, hamburgers, and hamburger steak that were devoured and enjoyed. We were able to eat our food and have conversations with each other. The price range is very easy on a budget. We will definitely return.

Went here for brunch this past Sunday. Great new menu additions. Local farm to table. Nouveau southern cuisine. Good food and friendly service. Nice neighborhood spot. Reasonable prices. My wife and I split a special local tomato and cucumber salad and a salmon BLT. Will be back to try the pimento cheese, fried chicken biscuit and trout.

My husband and I are new to the area. This place was easy to find and pleasing to the eye before entering. The service was very friendly and the food was fast, fresh, and yummy. Other than being confused by it's name (is it a cafe or a bistro?), we enjoyed it.

We go here frequently - it is easy and you always have a great meal. My husband loves the Georgia Trout and I am partial to the Shrimp and Grits (but I always ask them to leave off the onions and peppers - they make it even saltier). The Salmon BLT is excellent as are their Sweet Potato Fries. Their biscuits - well let's just say my husband eats all of them so I rarely get half a biscuit. Their staff have all been there for some time - there is very little turnover. They always remember the martini my husband orders and that I want water, no ice or lemon.

I am always a little leary of specials, but this sounded good; shrimp with iceburg lettuce and special dressing. The shrimp were tender and plentiful, and the dressing in the lettuce was delicious. The complementary blueberry muffins were also good. Service was extra friendly and made our table feel at home.

My wife and I, along with another couple, tried Southern Bistro on a Friday night at 6 pm on our way to Chastain park. None of us had heard of it before and we went there only because of a recommendation from another restaurant that did not have room for us. It was easy to make a reservation on a Friday night with only one day's notice but I think it is because the Bistro is unknown to people like it was to us. Given our very positive experience, I believe it may be more difficult to get a reservation in the future. All four of us recommend the Southern Bistro for a delicious dinner. We started with the Crispy Brussels Sprouts appetizer which was a generous portion and was one of the best we have ever tasted. We also tried the homemade potato chips which were just ok. It needed more of the accoutrements, cheese, sauce, etc., to give it more taste. My wife ordered the Peach Sangria which she said was very good. My wife and the wife of the other couple both ordered the Salmon sandwich. It was huge and both enjoyed it very much. The other man had the fried chicken with macaroni and cheese which he really liked. I had the evening special of roasted pork tenderloin which was very tasty and spread across some creamed Brussels sprouts with granny smith apples, which was also very good. The crispy brussels sprouts was better, however. All of our portions were more than ample and enough where we did not have room for desert. Alan was our server and the customer service was excellent throughout the entire time we were there. The menu has a wide variety of dishes which everyone can find something that will please their tastes. The prices were reasonable. The bill for my wife and I which included one drink, an appetizer and two entries was just over $50. The restaurant is located on Roswell Road and less than 10 minutes from Chastain Park. It is hidden on a side of a strip shopping center that houses Kroger. It is bigger inside than it appears and has a nice outdoor patio. We would definitely return when we are in the area and highly recommend it.

Have been twice within the last month. First Dec. 23, went to meet my son and daughter-in-law in Atlanta to go to spa just before Christmas. My aunt suggested, and service and food very good. Went again in January, again was good. Service is very good as well. Servings large.

Four of us enjoyed our lunch last Sunday. Three of us had the brunch, which featured several delicious choices. I had one of the specialty eggs Benedict choices. Our server was excellent and seemed to enjoy his position as much as we enjoyed our meal.

Braised short ribs were delicious and they kindly substituted mashed potatoes instead of grits. Friends had the scallops, which were also very nice. Peggy’s pound cake with caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream was a perfect finish.

Fabulous food for reasonable price. Love the sauteed spinach! Deserts are yummy. Can't go wrong with any selection. They have daily specials.....Tuesday's for August is 1/2 price bottle of wine. Skip all the chain restaurants, Nancy G's is superior!

A group of friends and I popped in for dinner knowing nothing about this place except for seeing the name on the outside. We were expecting casual but when we entered we saw lit candles and table cloths. Upon being seated, we then saw some paper and crayons so we knew we were okay in our casual clothes. The atmosphere is really quite nice... like the kind of place that would be good for a date or dinner with friends. We were offered hot biscuits and they did not disappoint. I had a chicken Caesar salad and it came with a full piece of grilled chicken and REAL dressing, not the mayo-mock-Caesar dressing many places serve. The dishes my friends had all looked good so we will definitely be back to try other items on the menu.

Nancy G's has just celebrated its 10 year anniversary. Located in the busy Fountain Oaks Shopping center anchored by Kroger, parking is never a problem. The indoor dining area is comfortable with a non obtrusive music system and TVs set on sports stations in Silent mode, making it easy to carry on conversations. Children are given crayons to keep them occupied. The outdoor deck is dog friendly, providing fresh, clean water bowls and treats. What a great place to watch the sunset! Waitstaff is friendly without sacrificing professionalism and well-versed in the menu, which features items for all types of diets. Most of the staff has worked for Nancy for several years! Nancy aptly describes the menu as Southern Fusion meals that give comfort and pleasure, providing an escape from a hectic day or a relaxing weekend brunch with the family. Start with the killer fried green tomatoes with goat cheese and remoulade. While the signature dish is a fried chicken breast plate, the pan seared salmon topped with blueberry bacon jam, served with jasmine rice and green beans is a knockout. All the salads are outstanding, served with house prepared dressings. Sandwiches are generous portions with exceptional breads and choice of sides. Don't miss the banana pudding, which is the perfect dessert to share. Specials are featured everyday, along with homemade soups. Half priced bottles of wine in Tuesday night...and BTW, the wine list has many excellent selections. If you are planning a family reunion or meeting, you may reserve the back dining room, but call ahead...it's popular!

Southern bistro has wonderful food but it's a little pricey. I loved my French onion soup The biscuits they bring to the table are delicious. The wait staff is friendly. The atmosphere is relaxing

Decent food but on the higher priced side given the menu. Fried chicken and burgers were good but overpriced given the portions. Service was average and tried to push extras too much.

The place has a new name Bistro cafe...food is good, fresh, service prompt...blue cheese chips appetizer is yummy---it feeds several! Prime rib could use a little more flavor, fried chicken very good, real mashed potatoes...soothing martinis...good for lunch or dinner. Been there for both in October...you won't leave hungry.

Unpretencious, non-chain restaurant in the Fountain Oaks shopping center in the N. Buckhead (almost Sandy Springs) with talented cooks, a solid menu and friendly staff. Food is contempory/Southern. We wanted a nice Sat. night dinner without the noise and hustle of Peachtree/Lenox, so meandered down Wieuca to Roswell Rd. and turned north to rediscover Nancy G's. We had eaten there years ago for Sun. brunch, but not dinner. The best thing was enjoying a high end meal with generous portions, but not feeling out of place/underdressed in jeans, and being able to eat dinner in decent lighting, without a roudy bar crowd, and not having to wait/pay for valet. I had the most heavenly strip steak and a Nancy G's house salad - fresh spinach greens, red onions, oranges and pecans. Huge portion, so had enough leftovers for another meal. Hubby had the amazing grilled veggie sandwich with a goat cheese basil spread, field greens, and sliced tomato on ciabatta bread and sweet potatoe fries. Again, we could have split that if I wasn't craving meat that day. Reheated well for lunch the next day. We also ordered a glass of wine, hot tea, and dessert to go - total was under $85. Will have to make it back there soon to explore other things on the menu. My mouth is watering just thinking of that perfectly grilled steak!!

Such a cute restaurant! Started off with the best fried green tomatoes that had the perfect crunch topped with pecans and remoulade. Then a main course of fried chicken, loaded mashed potatoes, and the best macaroni & cheese. Everything on the plate was amazing. And I forgot to mention the fresh-from-the oven biscuits. They tasted just like mom's! The shining star was when dessert was served. I'm not kidding when I say save room for dessert! A heavenly, moist slice of pound cake that would melt in your mouth without the topping. But don't skip the luscious caramel topping. Devine! I'm looking forward to returning to Atlanta so we can eat here again!

Reasonably priced weekday lunches with half a pita stuffed sandwich, fries and a drink for $7.95. We are trying to eat healthier, so I had sautéed spinach and paid the up charge for that. Sautéed spinach was good, but too salty. Tiny appetizer muffins were dreamy. Sandwich of chicken salad stuffed in a pia was terrific. Great service!

Went here for the first time. The brunch was disappointing. The service took more time than average. 2 out of 2 meals had issues from the kitchen. Will try other brunch options in the future.

This is a fun place for children and adults, with lots of menu choices to please any palate. It is basically southern cuisine done simply. My turkey burger was excellent and the beef burger looked wonderful as well. The tables are covered in brown butcher paper and there are crayons scattered across the table. I have to admit I did a little art and got a cartoon lesson from my young companion. She, by the way, is a bit fussy and they made her a special dish. Outstanding service!

This is now the Southern Bistro Café but Trip Advisor would not let me use that name for this review We went for early dinner and the place was very full As two native Southerners, we know what southern food is supposed to be and this was excellent The chicken pate was smooth, silky and flavorful and the onion rings were crispy and not greasy at all. I had the pork belly which was moist and tender. I would have preferred that the pork fat be trimmed or crispy, but I am not the chef so I just did not eat it. The grits and greens were flavorful and not mushy Husband had the shrimp and grits with sausage. He is not a big grits fan, but cleared his plate of everything. We'll be back

This place has a great deck where you can have your dogs sit with you. The staff was super friendly and even brought water for my pups, and there is a separate menu just for canines, too! The food was very good, I especially loved the fried green tomato appetizer. I look forward to returning.

I love this place Great food... selections, service and staff. Great for casual business lunch, friends, girls, guys Whatever And equally Great in the evening. Not a late night place but busy, diverse and Like family! Love everyone, but yesterday, Carla, at the bar The Best Thanks so much 😘

When recently visiting our son and daughter-n-law the other Sunday, we wanted to take them to lunch. I am from Atlanta but what with the wealth of places to eat, I did a little homework to find a nice place close to where they lived. I found the Southern Bistro which was only 5 minutes from their home. This is a small restaurant operates in a corner spot in a strip mall right off busy Roswell Road about 2 miles south of the Perimeter. Walking in we were pleasantly surprised by the open welcoming feel. I had made reservations but we probably could have just walked in and found an averrable table. We got there about 1 PM and I had worried about the church crowd but as it was still August and a typical lazy summer Sunday in the city. We were greeted and immediately escorted to a white linen draped table. Our waitress immediately greeted us, asked for drink orders and brought us a small bucket of corn muffins and butter. I ordered the shrimp and grits--a perfect portion for lunch--4 grilled shrimp sitting atop a creamy cheesy bowl of unctuous grits topped with a luscious tomato "gravy" mixed with zesty andouille sausage. My husband had a freshly grilled hamburger and fires...very flavorful and cooked perfectly. My pregnant daughter-n-law ordered The Big Nasty---a huge bun sized buttermilk biscuit topped with bacon, cheese and eggs and our son opted for the chicken and waffles. The food was delicious and the prices were excellent. My son and daughter-n-law both raved and said they'd be back another day for dinner. The Southern Bistro is a great Sunday, or any other day option, in crazy busy Atlanta.

My family & I stopped by here before a recent concert & had no trouble getting a table on a Saturday evening, which should have been a clue. First, let me say that the service was great. Our server was very attentive and we have no complaints there. However, the food was mediocre and did not, we felt, warrant their prices. My husband got the fried chicken, which is their regular Saturday special, so you would think they would have perfected it. He said his fried chicken is better, and I felt for $19 that should not be the case. It came with squash casserole (he said mine was better) and a large biscuit that was almost too hard to eat. I had the hangar steak, which was tasty but over cooked (the waiter even made a comment when he brought it out, but we didn't have the time to wait for another). The $23 steak was served with their house made G1 sauce, which was disgusting, a petite salad (I loved the herb vinaigrette) and okay Parmesan fries. My kids both ordered from the kids' menu and were satisfied with their meals. We ate outside, and although it's in a strip mall, it had potential. But before our food was served, a couple was seated next to us with two dogs who barked and pulled at their leashes pretty much the entire time. If the prices were lower, I think we would have felt okay about this meal. But as it were, we left feeling a bit shorted. The next time we are in town we will definitely try a different place.

We enjoyed everything we had and loved the atmosphere and charm. All the dishes were delicious and a nice size portions

This used to be one of regular spots when we lived in Atlanta years ago. We were in town visiting friends and when they suggested we have lunch there, we didn't hesitate. So glad we didn't; it was better than we remember. We both had the fried chicken, which was delicious, as good as I have ever had. The mashed potatoes with milk gravy were equally as good, as were the crispy, green beans. And the biscuits were delicious, practically covered the whole plate. We don't get back to Atlanta very often, but next time we do, we'll definitely head for Southern Bistro, maybe for brunch which we've heard is wonderful. They've got a dog friendly porch, too, so we'll be able to bring Bernie. I know he'll love it, also!

We took our kids, and our dog, who was celebrating his 1st birthday, to Nancy G's. We made reservations, which included 1 dog to our party of 5. The menu is small but each of us enjoyed our meals. I had the chopped steak with mushrooms and green beans. The flavor of the steak was very good, cooked medium as asked, and the green beans were fresh and slightly crisp. Our party also had the cheeseburger, meat loaf and trout. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The highlight, however, was the dog menu. It includes dishes such as rice with carrots, chicken and bacon, even pup cakes for dessert! They brought our dog his own water when we were seated. Others near us that brought their large dogs ordered full meals for their dogs (I saw a bowl full of hamburgers, for one). I would definitely recommend this restaurant to dog owners. The patio is covered and heated. Your dog will love you for it!

I like this place but I had a very poor irritating time the last time I went and I don't think I will be back! The food was very good but the attitude of Nancy G was not acceptable. My sister took me there for my birthday and there was confusion about what wine we were supposed to taste and we ended up not tasting the one we asked to taste and ended up ordering a much more expensive wine than we had planned. Also, there was a table of about 12 to 16 8-10 year old boys separated the width of the restaurant from their parents and they were screaming and talking at the top of their voices. No one else in the restaurant could talk or hear the other person at their table. The waiters were told by multiple people that it was really too much and it was ruining our dinner but no one would say anything to the parents or the boys. Nancy G was the worst. She just started making excuses and then she said oh they will get quieter when the food comes. Then she said "oh just order more wine and you won't mind so much. Never did anyone acknowledge with anything that it was my birthday and she was frankly insulting about it. I don't blame the boys I blame the parents who sat there and NEVER ONCE looked over at the boy's table. They purposely avoided looking. One brave waitress said something to them and they ignored her and still never looked over. Between the screaming tableful of kids and Nancy G's attitude it totally spoiled the night. I won't be sending anyone there or going back myself anytime soon if at all! j

Nancy does an amazing job. We had an event for 20 folks in the back room. A/v was fantastic. We used the porch for cocktails. About a dozen of us had dinner in the main dining room. Wine, apps, and entrees were amazing. I recommend the meatloaf, salmon and fried green tomatoes. Can't wait to go back and see Nancy and Colman.

This experience was Awesome! Me and my daughters a girls day out and he was the perfect fit for our night! The food topped the night off the right way!

Took 65 minutes before food was put in hand, after phoning in a dinner order of 1 starter and 2 dinner entrees. Upon ordering on phone, I was told to “give us 25 minutes”. I arrived later than the 25 minutes, to give leeway, and when food was not waiting and ready and hostess disappeared to check on food, I knew there was a problem. By the end of it all, I surmised the phone in order had never been submitted. At no point was there any mention that there had been a problem, no apology that food was not ready. 35 minutes after ordering food, I was simply told “your food will be ready shortly”. 30 minutes later, I was handed the order. At this point, with no offers of apology and a business as usual demeanor by all staff who saw me waiting additional 30 minutes for takeout, I requested discount on ticket. Only upon manager having me sign adjusted ticket did I hear “apologies”. It wasn’t even a busy night, with every table full in the house…no reasons I could find for food prep to take this long for takeout…just saw a lot of congregating and heard a lot of laughing and cutting up around food prep and food executing area. I got the sense they didn’t care about and didn’t need my business.

One of our favorite brunch spots. We have never had to wait. This most recent visit was busy though. Staff & owner Nancy are super friendly. The menu has a great selection & everything is tasty. They have gone "more sophisticated" with a recent branding/name change. You'll no longer have tater tots as a standard brunch side dish but the potatoes they replaced them with a cooked & seasoned perfectly! Many families enjoy this spot as well, with paper & crayons on each table.

The Cobb salad here is delicious. It is homemade, filled with delightful veggies, avocado, and chicken/ turkey.

We had Brunch at Southern Bistro the morning before we went to a wedding in Atlanta. Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere and Very Reasonably Priced!

I had been to Nancy G's a couple of time with my parents who live in Atlanta and enjoyed it very much. The food and the hospitality are incredible. So I wanted to have a family luncheon with my parents, children and grandchildren and I called Nancy G's. I asked if there was a quiet area, because one of our family members has a hearing impairment and they said they would reserve a small private room. When we arrived at the restaurant Nancy, the Owner greeted us. She recognized my parents as they are frequent quests. We had the most beautiful, quiet room where we could talk and laugh just like we were at home. The service and food are perfect. This restaurant does it right everytime! I wish I still lived in Atlanta, I would go there all the time.

This was our first visit. The waitress brought the menus with the lunch specials. We ordered the chicken salad pita and the Mediterranean pita.both were fresh and delicious. The lunch comes with a soft drink and a side for $7.95. The atmosphere was lovely and they have a private room for parties.we will be back.

Had a Sat. evening dinner with friends. Great place for easy conversation and very good food. Servers are attentive andf friendly and never seemed to rush us. Split thei enormous onion rings as an appetizer-as good as any I have ever had, Main dishes were a fried chicken breast plat with great side dishes included and a terrific bone in grilled pork chop-lean, perfectly done and delicious. Split a chocolate cream pie with ice cream that was good but a VERY rich item. Check was extremely reasonable and the value was high.

Had dinner here on a Wednesday evening. It’s a very loud restaurant. Food was okay, but nothing special. Prices are a bit high but not outrageous. Service was pretty subpar. Wouldn’t necessarily seek to eat here again but also don’t completely regret it.

I first had lunch at Nancy G's right after the café opened 11 years ago. The food was not good in my opinion, and I did not return for 8 years. About 3 years ago, a couple of salespeople invited me to lunch and said to meet them at Nancy G's. Wow, what a difference! The food was out of this world, and I have dined there several times since. I have found the service to be spotty, but when it's working correctly, some to-die-for homemade corn muffins are brought to the table; they literally melt in your mouth. The lunch menu contains many soup, salad and sandwich choices. Additionally--again when service is on course--several specials are also offered. Nancy G's is located in a shopping center in affluent Sandy Springs, and if peace and quiet are your preference, this might not be your place. But for great food and congeniality, you can't go wrong with Nancy G's Café.

sunday brunch fantastic, very warm southern ambience, food fresh and delicious, best french toast in a very long time. Will definitely return

I went here on the recommendation of a friend and it lived up to the recommendation. It is easy to miss since it sits on the end of the side strip center next to Kroger. But, we walked in on a Thursday evening and were seated immediately. We started with the blackened brussel sprouts, which were excellent. For dinner, I had the fried chicken, which is a boneless and breaded chicken breast. It was so good! And, it came with green beans, macaroni and cheese and a dill salad, but I substituted the dill salad with mashed potatoes. All sides were good, but the macaroni and cheese was especially good! My friend had the chastain burger with fries and he liked it. We were so full from dinner that we could not have dessert. The restaurant is very clean and the service was very attentive. This is good for an intimate dinner or a small group and the prices are reasonable.

I have eaten several meals at Southern Bistro (formerly Nancy G's) and it is always reliable. It has an authentic neighborhood feel and since I know the owners (lovely husband and wife team) they always make me feel welcome. There is a private dining room in the back and several organizations have regular meetings there. The menu is simple, good, southern food. Although I usually choose to "go light" with one of their wonderful (and fairly large) salads, they have a number of offerings for every taste and usually have fresh mountain trout. While the food is good the restaurant does feature "Buckhead" pricing, which means, it is not cheap eats. However, all things considered I would highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.

I recently met a colleague for lunch and he suggested Nancy G's. Excellent choice. It was not crowded and the meal was excellent. The casual and neighborhood feel of this restaurant puts you at ease the moment you walk in. Paper covers the tables and if you are so inclined you can write on it with the crayons provided. We had an excellent house salad with spinach, fruit and nuts and it was the perfect size. My friend had the trout over peas and I enjoyed the fried chicken breast with green beans and mac and cheese. We topped off the meal with fresh brewed coffee. Although it was a little pricey for the casual atmosphere, it was an excellent meal. It was nice not having so much noise we could hear each other talking. Overall, a lovely place with good food and a decent atmosphere. Located in a strip shopping center, you have to be looking for it to find it but it is worth the effort. I will go again.

Been to this restaurant four time over last 2 years when visiting family in the area. Food has always been good and staff is efficient and friendly. Recommend Hanger steak, chopped steak (very large) and Salmon. I’m sure other entrees area also good. We have been with our 20 month old grandson, good kid meal and they have small utensils for children. Other tables had older children, but this is not a children’s restaurant. Mostly adults, and a lot of regulars. This is our go to restaurant for adult food when dining with our grandchildren.

I must admit that I was not taken with Nancy G's initially. However, with each subsequent visit (friends always want to meet there), the food has continued to improve significantly. Good service and good value make this a great neighborhood gem. On Tuesdays, wine bottles are half price.

The people there are very nice and the atmosphere is very comfy with nice music playing in the background. The restaurant is a soul food kind of place. I ordered macaroni & cheese which looked and tasted like upgraded Velveeta in a box. It wasn't the real cheese I'm use to when you have an actual cook make it. I also ordered the chips with blue cheese and that was good. My husband ordered steak tacos and fries and he loved that. We'd go back again.

Southern Bistro - formerly known as Nancy G’s to locals - is located in the Fountain Oaks shopping center in ATL suburb of Sandy Springs. It’s been around for quite awhile and on several recent visits in the last couple months, we’ve found a big rejuvenated spirit here. SB has always been a safe bet for lunch or dinner but recently it’s just taken a big step forward. Food is delicious, service pleasant & prompt, bar offerings great. We’ve recently tried a fabulous short ribs linguine special that was to die for, chopped steak plate always a favorite, rainbow trout last evening was fabulous with crispy potatoes & green beans. Fried green tomatoes app could be a great meal in itself. Shrimp & grits always a hit on the menu. Fried chicken is fabulous. The food offerings are not many - all on one page - but every one is pretty exceptional. Celebration dessert was offered gratis on a recent birthday visit. So happy to be close by - and always happy to see owner Nancy in the house. We plan to be back many times.

We tried this with friends who had dined there several times. The restaurant features indoor and outdoor dining and has a little used bar to the rear. A threat of rain precluded outdoor and we had a table for five in the main dining room which as the room filled was assaulted by noise that grew and grew. Our server, Heather, was easygoing and knew the food and drink menu in and out and made good recommendations and made choosing healthy side items easy via substitutions. Several tried the buttermilk boneless fried chicken breast and despite a good deal of salt liked the flavor. One in our party chose the Turkey burger with sweet potato fries and was served enough for a party of at least two or maybe three. I chose the grilled shrimp with avocado sauce pasta. The dish was filling, steaming hot and the four large shrimp grilled perfectly. Pre-dinner we ate the restaurant cured salmon on pickled onions, capers and toast points and declared it very good. Parking is plentiful and no valet is needed as this is a shopping center location. Pricing is fair.

It's still referred to as "Nancy G's" by some locals, but it's now really established as Southern Bistro - a good all-round restaurant in (sadly) one of the ugliest modern buildings in Atlanta - a structure that looks like a badly built block of flats from the 70s or 80s. Anyway, once you're inside the architecture is unimportant. There's plenty of parking in Sandy Springs, by the way. There were four of us - two Americans and two Brits - and three of the four went for fish dishes; the salmon being particularly impressive, the trout fresh and perky, and my crab cakes were packed with fish and full of flavour. My bride was the one exception when it came to ordering. She opted for a 'chopped meat burger'. We had to have that description explained to us, but it was very tasty when it arrived. Now, I don't think a 10 or 15-minute wait for food is unreasonable. We hadn't ordered starters, so it's fair to give the kitchen a chance to cook our meals. But it's a trait I've noticed in Americans that hasn't yet crossed the pond to Britain, that any delay makes the natives twitchy. So after five or six minutes, our American friends stopped a passing waiter to ask if everything was OK. After 10 minutes, another waiter was stopped to be asked if there was some terrible crisis in the kitchen that meant our meals hadn't arrived! My bride and I were amused and amazed by this; personally I'd let the kitchen get on with the order, not bombard chef with time-consuming questions about time-keeping. But, hey, we're nations divided by a common language and, apparently, very different views on what constitutes reasonable service. Suffice to say the food arrived in what I thought was a reasonable time period, and it was very good indeed. The iced teas were great too. Southern hospitality meets Southern impatience!

My friends and I had brunch here recently and the entire experience was fab! I made a reservation and specifically asked for a table, not a booth and they knew that and had a reserved table for us. Our server Patrick was pleasant, knowledgeable and SO accommodating. The food was excellent - especially the friend green tomatoes appetizer. We did not order cocktails so I cannot attest to that but everything else about the day was perfect. We will definitely be back.

We have eaten at Nancy G's over the years but their recent change to a new menu as "Southern Bistro" is worth the trip. The service is wonderful as always but the new food selections are outstanding. So far we've been for brunch and lunch and both times have been very pleased. My husband likes the beer list and his craft beer was ice cold. I have tried the crab-cake benedict for brunch and the pimento cheese was delicious. Parking is easy as well.
Love the doggie menu
Its surprising that for all the dog owners that live in the USA, restaurants rarely cater for dog owners here. Being from the UK, eating establishments there are a lot more relaxed when it comes to your furry friend. In any case, I was looking for a dog friendly restaurant to take my dog, my partner and his two dogs after a walk in the park. I found this place online and was intrigued by the doggie menu. When we got there we were led to the patio and our dogs got a warm welcome also. It's in a strip mall near a Kroger so no nice view from the deck, but the outdoors seating is appreciated. The chairs are designed so you can hook your leash on the back and not worry too much about holding the leash the whole time. Wait staff were all very friendly and accommodating for us. I ordered a bowl of bacon for my dog which he greedily ate up. I woudl say it was probably 2-3 rashers broken into little bits, a bit pricey at $4. Because he ate it so quickly, I ordered him a bowl of rice and carrots at $4 as well. I myself had the calamari which was supposed to be tempura style, but was very heavily battered and nothing special (If you want good calamari go to Hmart in Buford Highway and go to the Hong Kong stall - i have yet to find a better version) My partner had the fried pickles - ok, not the best, but nice flavor, heavy on the batter again. and the country fried chicken breast which tasted quite good, moist and juicy with a nice crispy coating. It's a bit pricey but the fact they have a dog menu is pretty cool. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but if you live nearby it would be a nice post dog park place.
