I had dinner for the first time here with friends who have eaten here many times before so they had their own personal favorites from the menu. It was crowded but we didn't wait long for a table - I was surprised at how large the restaurant was. We ended up with two of the appetizer specials, one being a serving of a creamy cheese with toasted slices of bread that was out of this world.. I've been thinking about this cheese since my visit - if only I could have thought to have gotten an order to go. We ordered three pizzas and all were excellent; I particularly enjoyed the chewy, slightly charred crust. I was beyond happy to accept a mini canoli as we departed - the perfect end to a delicious meal.

Limited menu, poor service, bad quality food, ok ambiance. Let’s just say my spritz was 90% water and my wife’s was 90% bitters. The waitress could not have been worst - we have a 14 month old and she had an attitude when we asked about ingredients.

Traveling from New Jersey, we sought out a classic Neapolitan pizza after touring Wrigley field. Trip Advisor led us to this local authentic Italian restaurant. After sampling and being disappointed in the "deep dish" variety earlier in our Chicago stay, we were so pleased with the ambiance, smells, and tastes of this eatery. Even the soda was authentic, as they don't offer the standard American colas, but one just as refreshing - Mole Cola - an Italian Natural Cola. We shared a tasty Salsiccia - San Marzano tomatoes, sausage, basil, and pecorino on a tasty crispy crust - perfect! Jimmy was engaging and efficient making our experience very memorable. You know your pizza is crispy and done under high heat since our pizza came out quickly.

They make the authentic Neapolitan Pizza, with the same dough and also have some classic neapolitans recipes (like Salsiccia e Friarielli). The best pizza in Chicago!!

Best Italian pizza in Chicago. During my trip in the city I’ve tried only this pizzeria, but being Italian, I can confirm it! It’s a very Italian pizza, with quality Italian products. The wine chart is good and filled of Italian wine, in particular from Naples. Location is a little bit far a way from the city center, but is well linked by CTA metro and the neighborhood is very nice and quite, so safe. The dessert are good but can be improved. We tried the spumone and the tartufo, the second one is good, the first one we don’t like. If you’re looking for a very good pizza this is the right place!

Family group of 14 visited over Christmas holiday weekend and were lucky enough to be seated in the back room which was like a private dining room. Amazing pizzas and the Burata is to die for. Would highly recommend. A great spot!

First things first, staff was really lovely! We started with burrata and It was amazing! Then some risotto balls, also very delicious. Let's get into real deal, Pizza! Oh my... It was just marvelous! I would really like to visit Spacca Napoli again when everything gets back to normal so I can come to Chicago!

No longer a hidden gem in the Ravenswood neighborhood in north Chicago. This is authentic Napoli style pizza - thin crust cooked in a wood burning oven with traditional Napoli crust and toppings. They offer red style pizza with san marzano tomatoes and sauce or white pizza with cheeze and veggies. There are also cheeseless pizzas if you have a cheese intolerance. Very busy place and very popular. Highly recommend reservations.

We are Chicagoans and this is our favorite pizza! We come here to celebrate birthdays or just for a great meal. Sit outside if the weather permits - nice sidewalk seating. It's just pizza, appetizers and dessert here - don't confuse this with a full scale Italian restaurant. But what else do you need? Everything is fresh - I recommend that you order something from their specials since they never fail to impress. And leave room for dessert - it at least one of the mini cannoli's they give you in the way out.

This is the place to go for real Neapolitan pizza in Chicago. Consistently good. Nice ambiance, menu with several pizza and all according the tradition: love the specials. Well done to the pizzaiolo!

We grabbed some late night pizza to go and were not disappointed. We ordered the diavola, the sausage pistachio, and the pancetta arugala, and there wasn't a bite left. These pizzas are excellent - perfectly crispy, perfectly topped, perfectly flavorful. We had the burrata as a starter, and it was also delicious. This is a must stop!

A little slice of Naples is delivered with every bite. From the vibe in the room to the attention to detail, nothing is overlooked. You're greeted at the front door and the pizza oven is the first thing that catches your eye. A small bite comes to the table along with the menus a staff member who is ready to explain the choices and the specials. The wine list is a perfect match for the choices, which are pizza, pizza and more pizza! Of course you could order something else, but why would you? Rated as one of the top 10 Pizzeras in the country, Jonathan and his staff will make you feel like family by the time you leave. Go there hungry and enjoy authentic Italian food.

Great food but be prepared to be ridiculously rushed through dinner. Would return if we were okay with a quick, rushed dinner!

Hands down the best pizza in Chicago. Forget that "Chicago Style" pizza (a joke we locals play on tourists), this Neopolitan style pizza is fresh, beautiful, balanced, and delicious. Great starters, beverages, and desserts to accompany. Friendly service and fun atmosphere. Plan ahead and make a reservation or expect to wait.

I'd been looking forward to an authentic Neapolitan apizza experience and Spacca Napoli had been recommended to me. My daughter and I went early on a Saturday evening without a reservation, so we were not surprised at the 45 minute wait. The Margherita I was served was worth the wait, easily the equal to pies I'd been served in Naples.

Very creative and delicious pizzas, along with tasty appetizers. Try the eggplant parmigiana appetizer - very rich charred flavor.

It's been a while since I've visited Merica Pizzeria and I'm glad to have a late lunch at Spaca Napoli. We took the Brown Line train to Montrose and walked the place for a few minutes. We arrived quite early and were seated immediately. We had the Calamari Picante to start and it was great. Then we had the Bufalina with Garlic Pizza which was perfect.

The one with the wood chips and the “gluten free” pizza. After researching the best gluten free pizzas in Chicago, we landed on Spacca Napoli. It was a special occasion because my brother was traveling in from out of state. He has celiac disease and loves pizza so we were so excited to have found a place! We ordered it to go because it was nearly 10PM. We were so excited when we started eating. The pizza was better than any gluten free pizza we had ever had. I couldn’t stop commenting! It was AMAZING! I was unpleasantly surprised to find not one, but two wood chip. When we reached out to the owner, his explanation was that the pizza is cooked in a wood fired oven, so that happens. He offered to refund that one pizza. The gluten free pizza was so freaking good we HAD to go back in spite of the memory of the food chips and the extremely sloppy presentation (for example, I had a mushroom pizza and it looked like they had shaken it violently in the box before giving it to us.) This second visit, we dined in. We ordered two different gluten free pizzas and when they arrived we immediately looked at each other and said “we did not receive gluten free pizzas last time.” It was obvious simply looking at the pizza that it was a different product, tasting it confirmed that it was gluten free and the AMAZING GLUTEN FREE PIZZA we had enjoyed was, in fact, their normal crusts. No wonder it tasted so good. It suddenly made sense. My brother is a type one diabetic and has celiac disease. The entire weekend that he was here his blood sugars were out of control. They were higher than I’ve seen them in years. We could not figure it out. Now, I understand. Have an eaten a pizza that was NOT gluten free impacted his blood sugar. It explained why his stomach was bothering him and why he had to spend long periods of time in the bathroom. On the positive side: they have a great and unique wine list. Although you cannot call ahead to order pizza, they do offer you a sample of Prosecco while you wait!

Best pizza I've ever had! Also great salad and dessert. My favorite is funghi. If you like pizza Napoletana then this is the spot.

We were seated the minute we arrived and our waitress greeted us quickly after that. The caprese appetizer was excellent. One pizza was plenty for the two of us to share. The crust was thin and tasty. For dessert we tried the spumoni which was very good but different and the tartufo was delicious as well. The cafe lattes were a perfect ending. It was a nice evening with great food and service to match.

Spacca makes pizza in the perfect southern Italian tradition. Everything is spot on. Wood burning oven, crust, sauce, cheese, etc. One of the best in North America.

Wanted to get our Italian Pizza on so we thought we would check out Spacca. Really good pizzas here with some really good wines on the list. Some of the best Pizzas I had during my time in Chicago.

Naples, Italy. To me it has always been called Napoli, and I told myself if I ever find an Italian pizza joint in Chicago that claims to be Neopolitan that doesn't slice the pizza, it will officially be legit. My family hails from Napoli where I have tasted the best of the best, and although the menu offers a wide variety of toppings for their pizzas and they have seasonal specials we will always be a sucker for the classic margherita made with buffalo mozzarella. The only bummer is that the restaurant closes early so get there when you are hungry at around 7:30-8. We ordered the baby octopus along with the pizza which was delicious! So tasty with the arugula salad! Best pizza in Chicago! Made the way pizza was born! Alla Napoli! Viva Napoli! Viva Spacca Napoli!

To the Pizza Faithful to the Authentic Neapolitan Style, this is the place to come! Spacca Napoli was inspired by the authentic aroma, taste, and craft of pizza found on the streets and the pizzerias in Naples. In fact, the food, wine and service at Spacca Napoli are all designed to reflect southern Italian hospitality and they have done that! We loved their Margherita with tomatoes, oregano, fior di latte mozzarella, basil, and olive oil. It's the closest to authentic Napolitan pizza you can get in the USA.

Since there were nine of us, my daughter-in-law ordered about eight pizzas and a variety of salads, that my son and I picked up. Although I can’t recall which ones I ate, they were all delicious.

This restaurant was recommended by Tenuta di Sanfrancesco a winery in Amalfi. We loved it! The grilled Octopus starter was the best we have had in Chicago! The pizza's were delicious- we felt like we traveled back to Naples. Our server was also very good. We will definitely be returning frequently.

Being Italian I was looking for a good pizza in Town. People recommended Spaccanapoli, I gave it a try and I was pleasantly impressed by the food and the overall quality. Recommended.

We visited while out of town. All I have to say is I guess my days of eating pizza are over. The mushroom sausage pizza was so delicious, this place has ruined pizza for me. This is the way pizza should taste. Everything was so delicious. Truly authentic Italian pizza, or at least what I imagine it would be. I tell you, the pizza brought a tear to my eye thinking of all the years of nasty pizza I have eaten.

This is as close to authentic pizza and other dishes to Naples, Italy as you'll get anywhere! Any of their appetizers are phenomenal. We love their pizza dough whatever toppings you might choose. The staff is always friendly and accommodating and parking is not bad. Go hungry!

Spacca Napoli is the best Neapolitan pizza that I have found on Chicago's nort' side. Welcoming, attentive and knowledgable staff. Clean, bright and family friendly. Fresh ingredients and thoughtful recipes; we had the pistachio and sausage (see pix) and the puttanesca pies on our most recent visit. And, the crust is brilliant; chewy, crispy, bubbled and woodfire charred - one can tell that the staff really takes care in its preparation. When you are sick of Chicago deep dish & Chi-talian tavern thin crust pizza won't do, go to Spacca Naploi for great Northside Neapolitan pie. Don't forget to try the burrata appetizer - it is fresh and creamy & your mind will be blown.

I’ve written before about this restaurant. It’s one our go-tos. It’s always great and friendly and fast- with excellent food. The gelato and peaches for dessert this visit was a particular treat.

Recommended by a friend from Wisconsin and it did not disappoint. Quaint little pizzeria that had excellent food. Staff fantastic and great recommendations. We had multiple appetizers and 3 types of pizza! Not one that we didn't like. Great place. Not your typical pizza. This is wood grilled and just like Italy!

Good pizza but... our reservation for a party of 7 was for 9:30. We arrived at 9:15 and were not seated until 9:40...no problem. As soon as we were seated the service was very speedy. By 10:30 the restaurant was clearing out and they were speedily bringing the bill and picking up chairs and setting them up on the table tops next to us. Very clearly they wanted us gone. This made us very uncomfortable. So my recommendation is to not allow 9:30 reservations if you want the restaurant cleared out at 10:30.

I think Spacca Napoli has the best Neapolitan style pizza in the city. Always a great crisp yet chewy crust with fresh toppings. They also always have interesting specials.

Expect a wait for about an hour for dinner. But it's worth the wait for good food. The grilled octopus appetizer was amazing!! Would go back for it. The pizza was also very tasty and good for one person based on their portion size. Highly recommended to try

Friendly, prompt service and great pizza for those of us who prefer thin crust. The restaurant is family friendly, with relaxing atmosphere. A very nice touch is when you get a tiny complimentary cannoli on your way out.

To find a real good pizza with high quality ingredients its seems very hard, but here they know the real deal Every ingredient was such a delight starting with the olive oil to the appetizers and her majesty Pizza Napoletana Its even worth the trip if you don’t live close by Keep up the flavors and we will keep on coming back

May be the hippest restaurant in this neighborhood, great food, beautiful people! Was there last night and a number of times before. Food is always great - anything on the menu but I always veer toward calamari. Tends to be busy but it's totally relaxing compared to the downtown scene. Kind of a jewel here!

The pizzas here are mouthwatering and really amazing. The value for it is great too. But the staff barely speaks any english, they don't bring any table water and the waiter scammed me during my checkout with a credit card when she chose to use dynamic currency conversion without my permission

This is a great place to get together with friends and family. Seating is spaced pretty well inside. Everything was neat and clean. One draw back to service was the waiter asked us to keep our knives and forks after eating appetizers. Would have liked new forks as we had several appetizers. Also, When they brought the 3 uncut pizzas they didn’t provide the pizza cutters and we initially tried to cut with our butter knives and then had to ask for these. The pizzas were all spot on authentic delicious Napoli style pizza. The crust was airy, light and had the perfect chew. The appetizers; arancini balls had a very nice taste with a little peppery kick and cheese in the middle, the barrata (homemade semi soft mozzarella type cheese) was oozing over bread slices and tasted wonderful. Salads were simplistic and were nice with the pizzas and helped cleanse your pallet of flavors from one pizza to the next. Any pizza you order here is going to be great! The pizza sauce is san marzano tomatoes and they are generous with all the toppings. Great selection of wines and perseco (of course!) We weren’t rushed and the noise level was low allowing us to all hear one another’s conversation.

One of the best Italian restaurants I've been to. Probably the best octopus I've ever had and the pizza was also up there with the best. They say freshness is key to good Italian food and these guys know that. Excellent.

The menu is quite plethora. I feel happy when i see the menu that shows many different styles of meat and combo-set meal.

Did take out. It was two pizzas. Very very good. Take out is not recommended because this is an oven baked pie, quickly cooked. Can’t let it cool down because it loses its crisp. Still good though hit dine in.

The place is okay, but honestly the food didn’t meet my expectations. It’s not bad, but nothing really stood out or made me want to come back. The pizza lacked flavor and overall it felt pretty average for the price. Definitely room for improvement.

Jonathan has brought Naples to Chicago with his restaurant. Everything about it is authentic - from the triple zero flour for the crust, to the imported tomatoes and mozzarella. The space is bright and the service is great. Reasonably priced wines, Italian beer and sodas and classic desserts round out the experience. When you're tired of the pseudo-Italian joints out there give this place a shot - you'll be glad you strayed off the beaten path.

When my wife get a yen for close-to-Naples-like margarita pizza, we travel to the closest we can get. The burrata was an excellent starter, certainly enough for two to share - hard to get good burrata, but they continue to do it. The pizza was, as it has been, excellent.

The pizza was good, not the best I've had but a solid 8/10. The burrata on the other hand was the best that I have ever had, stateside & international. Nice beer selection, great patio space, quick & courteous service. Definitely recommend.

I think we ate something that can only be derived from the heavens above - burrato. Some sort of special mozzarella cheese imported once a week that is creamy and spreadable on toasty bread slices. Not to mention the pizza - even gluten free was out of this world. Can't wait to go back!

I am Italian and decided to go to this place during a family visit. What can I say? I was really impressed. Pizza is italian all the way...napoletana to be precise that makes the concept even better. The restaurant is kinda small but nice and well furnished creating a typical pizzeria ambient. A little pricy but considering the quality I would say more than acceptable. Needs a reservation no matter what time or day you decide to go!

I'm very picky when it comes to pizza. I am a true Napoli pizza fan. This was very good pizza! Delicious crust! We ordered the burrata (imported and not always available) which was out of this world. Get it if it's on the menu. You won't regret it!

I chase the best pizza’s where ever I travel around the world. Napolitan style that is - the only true in its kind. I was blown away with the pizza’s in this place. Double 0 flour, water, salt and yeast. No additives but pure. Two wonderful crafted wood fired ovens that cook the pie to perfection. There is great attention to detail and care for the right toppings. San Marzano tomatos, buffel mozerella, fresh basil as the basics. From there a good selection of pizza’s - white and red. When I asked I could make some changes to the preselected topping, that was no issue. Friendly, efficient and knowledgeable staff. I rate the pizza top 5 globally, and that includes all the ones I had in Italy. You must simply go here if you have any affection for pizza!

We went here after a Cubs game. Hubby surprised me. The food here is amazing and well worth the wait. Not in a neighborhood like you would think. I loved the architecture, the staff and the atmosphere. True Italian Food.

Exceptional and authentic Neapolitan pizza. Delightful waitstaff, light and airy interior, great service, clean restrooms. A neighborhood gem not to be missed.

We have spent considerable time in Italy. The pizza from Naples is our favorite. The pizza at Spacca Napoli rivals the best pizza of Italy. It is super flavorable with a thin, slightly chewy crust. We were in heaven. The service was great. The pear panna cotta was divine and the after dinner cordial selection was really cool. We had something that was super yummy but can't remember what it was called. Large comfortable indoor area and beautiful outdoor seating as well. One note, check hours of operation. We got there at 9pm on Sunday. The outside had just closed. This will be a mandatory stop on every trip to Chicago. Loved, loved it.

Spacca Napoli makes an excellent wood-fired pizza crust! There are many different toppings available, and the service is excellent. Fun place. Verrrry busy so plan accordingly!

We went for dinner on a Saturday. While waiting we enjoyed watching the pizzas being made in the brick ovens. We were offered a snack of Italian bread with whipped sheep's milk ricotta. Our table was ready sooner than expected. At the table, we were given a tasting of sparkling wine. We had the octopus appetizer; it was incredibly tender and flavorful. We split 2 pizzas and had enough left to enjoy at home the next day. On the way out, we were given a cannoli for desert. You could feel the love for what they were doing from everyone who worked there. It was quite busy but they all function as a well oiled machine and it really makes a difference in the environment. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. You must experience this restaurant!

you could do worse...at 99% of the other American pie places. This place is a pizza academics Harvard. They don't cut corners and only the best graduate from the oven. Oddly, I have only been here for my birthday and a funeral, two opposite ends of the spectrum. The funeral introduced me to their whole menu. Let me tell you, you can't pick wrong if you want dessert or appetizers. We had something that was fried, mushrooms I believe. If you come to Chicago and only explore downtown you miss places like this that are easily accessible with public transportation.

I have to give it 5 start because for to be in USA it is a very good pizza, but is it the best pizza that I eat so far here? No, it is not best. Unfortunately the cheese that they choose it wasn't the best. "Margherita" was very good, e they have a good chose of beer. The place is nice and the service is ok. If you are in Chicago and you are Italian you should try it. 🔝🔝🔝

Many people cringe when you use the words "Chicago" and "pizza" in the same sentence. That's why I am so happy to have one of the city's best places for authentic, Napoli-style pizza close by. When I visit Spacca, I feel like I'm in Italy, not in Chicago. They imported the brick ovens from Italy, and the small pizzas can be shared, or eaten by one person with a hearty appetite. Salads, soups, and other special dishes are always as finely made as the pizzas. They even have a gluten-free version that's very good. There is a carefully curated wine list, that goes very well with the food, and servers are knowledgable about good pairings. Both Chicago locals and out-of-town visitors enjoy this place. (Hint: go early or call ahead, because it gets busy!)

This restaurant is a hidden gem in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago. Reservations are recommended, and we were seated promptly upon our arrival. This is a busy place on a Friday night, energetic atmosphere, with families and couples of all ages. We had the Burrata special and grilled vegetables, and the pulpo as our appetizers. All delicious, but the Burrata was amazing, soft and creamy and a nice sized portion. Seemed most people ordered one pizza per person but since we had 3 apps, we ordered 3 pizzas for the 4 of us which was plenty. We had the Funghi, the Diavola, Prosciutto e Rucola. All delicious and cooked perfectly. Our service wa very good as well. When we were leaving they offered us mini homemade cannoli on the way out! YUMMY!! Highly recommend you give Spacca a try.

My wife and I had been to Spacca Napoli a few times before and liked it very much, but then went again recently after a week in Naples, because we had a taste for Neopolitan pizza. We agreed that the pizza here is indistinguishable from the best pizzas we had in Naples.

I believe that this not so little oasis ,which is located partly on Ravenswood Avenue, off of Montrose , is NOT part of a chain, While delicious Naples style pizza is the main offering, also available are salads, and other appetizers which could easily satisfy one's hunger, Our table started with mouth watering rice balls. The standard pizza seems perfect for two people and is offered in a variety of choices. Wine, beer and aperol sprritz' as well as non alcoholic beverages are available along with a handful of good desserts, of which our table sampled a variety. The premises are charming and attractive outdoor seating is available, weather permitting. The restaurant is family friendly but suitable for couples as well as families or small groups. Service , at least on a busy Saturday evening, was friendly, while a bit slow, but it afforded us leisure to socialize with our friends, Parking nearby is easy.

One of my favorite places in the city. I literally dream about the burrata from Spacca Napoli: the ultimate in indulgence cheese. So, if you come here, definitely make sure to get that as a starter (if there's any left). All in all, a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that rises above the usual on the quality of its ingredients and the charming, cosy feel of the restaurant. We live nearby and love bringing guests here. They are always surprised to find themselves eating stunningly authentic Italian food by the Metra tracks in sleepy Northside Chicago.

Felt lucky that an Italian pizza guru was in the kitchen the night we visited. The place was packed & we were even told it would take awhile to get our food. Ordered one of the speciality pizza being offered by the visiting chef; very good.

Make reservations you will not be disappointed . We had the specials tonight the rice balla as god as Sicily,,, the burratta amazingly creamy I had the La Regina amazing sweet tomatoe , arugula and delicious mozzarella two kinds... One melted on the Pirates and bococinni on top.... The others had the sausage and another the whit pie with arugula. Save room for their chocolate gelato Amazing.... Wine list wonderful staff very helpful with pairing your wine with your pie....on your way out enjoy a delicious mini cannoli on your way to the car..,, thank you Jonathan and staff

The pizza is really tasty. We went there in Saturday afternoon without reservation. We waited about 40 min, but was worth it. The service was very good. We ordered mussels for appetizers which was delicious, and 2 pizzas with prosciutto for entry. One was white with fresh prosciutto, aragula and cheese, and second one was red with steam prosciutto, mushroom, and artichokes. Crust was amazing, thin, lite and tasty. Delicious food, fresh ingredients, and good service. I will be back.

The location is close to the train tracks in the Ravenswood area, which has been pleasantly transformed into a nice area. The restaurant is a very busy place, especially with the demand for outside seating. It has a wood-fired brick oven which is suitable for the thin crust flat pizzas that are served. We ordered two types of pizza: with and without tomato sauce base. Although the crust was well baked and we could taste the flavor of the wood fired oven, the sauce was tasteless and so were the toppings. The place does serve other dishes besides pizza and perhaps it may be worth trying those as well. As a pizza, we were not impressed. It is a nice place, however, to pass a pleasant evening.

The pizza and the atmosphere is as close as it can get to a typical pizzeria in Naples. The service was good and food was delicious during both visits. If you are craving for a good Neapolitan pizza in Chi-town, Spacca Napoli is the place to be. Like most pizzerias, they have different vegetarian options but keep it simple and order a margherita :)

The pizza at Spacca Napoli compares to the yummy pizza you would get in Italy. My boyfriend and I go here a lot and every time we walk out the door a happy customer. They only use the best ingredients and everything is Italian. The crust is amazing, it's a little chewy which we love. If you like thin crust pizza then you will love Spacca. Anything you order you will love. If you go there on a weekend you will get the best little pistachio cannoli on your way out. We only go on the wknds so we get that little cannoli:) Service is also very consistent.

Visiting relatives and needed a break. Lucky for me, this restaurant was within a 5 minute walk. I ordered the kid's size portion of capriccioaa. It was fabulous. My first Napoli pizza - thin, flavorful. Great with Per Eva wine.

The place is very popular so book in advance or come out of peak hours. The pizze are very excellent with fresh ingredients. The service was efficient and friendly. Prices are reasonable.

You know it's a fabulous pizza place when you look are waiting for a table and 2 Italian men are building a new pizza oven in the next room. I went there for lunch with family who live in the neighborhood. Great sauce, simple crushed tomatoes, not over done and incredibly fresh. I had the funghi pizza. It evoked memories of the first pizza I had in Naples. Wonderful place to eat. Excellent service. My cousin who dined with me was pregnant and they had pasteurized cheese to use on her pizza. Very accommodating

I tried so many pizza restaurant but this was the best one! The dough was perfect and great service with a free sample of sparkling wine while we waiting. Highly recommend to this place.

Met some friends here for lunch on a weekday. We kept it simple, with each of us ordering a different pizza, and then swapping slices. The pizza was a perfect rendition of what you would find in Italy -- the crust, the sauce, and the toppings. Plus, the room is very comfortable and the staff welcoming & attentive. This was a "catching-up" lunch for us, so we lingered for about 2 hours, only ordering 1 expresso each during that period (no dessert, no alcohol), with no effort by the staff to push us out the door. Granted the restaurant was not crowded; nonetheless we did appreciate that the waitstaff periodically stopped by to fill out water but placed no pressure on us to order anything else. I wish I lived closer. I'd be there all the time. (Also, free head-in parking is readily available in diagonal spaces along the El tracks on Ravensood Ave., immediately to the west. No circling the block or parallel-parking skills needed.)

My family and I have been here before. We are originally from Sri Lanka and the owner of Spacca had recently taken a trip to Sri Lanka and written about it on the website. We met Jon (the owner), he was a nice guy and had great things to say about his trip to Sri Lanka. He had us try the Arancini (Rice Balls) appetizer and it was excellent. We ordered 3 pizza's to share between the 4 of us and as in the past, all of them were outstanding. We currently live in Michigan and I haven't found any pizza like this in Michigan. There are a few restaurants that serve Neapolitan pizza in Michigan but it doesn't taste as good as these pizza's. If you are in Chicago and like pizza, you have to try this place. It's nothing like Chicago deep dish and actually the complete opposite as these are very thin pizza's. We will be back again the next time we are in Chicago. I recommend this place and don't have a single complaint about it.

This was my second time here. The first time, we went with 2 other couples. I talked about how much I loved it for days. Since we were there right before Christmas, my husband bought me a few gift cards to take my girlfriends there to try it. I took 3 of my girlfriends on a Sunday afternoon. They all loved it! We split a salad and a burrata appetizer. We each ordered our own pizza but easily could have ordered 2. Oh well, we all took pizza home. They owner came up to our table and chatted with us, which was really nice. Definitely is now one of my go-to places!

The whole menu was inviting but I did go for the pizza based on the reviews - I was fortunate to be staying around the corner from this place but after eating there I’d say it would be worth the trip out to the area - it is quite close to Montrose train station. The pizza was lovely and thin based with a good crunch and the toppings delicious. They have an interesting wine list and I really enjoyed the glass I had. When I’d finished it there was quite a lot of sediment in my glass and the waitress commented that is should have been strained - she then brought me another small glass of the wine free of charge which I thought was very nice. I sat on the outside terrace and really enjoyed my meal - would revisit for sure next time I’m in Chicago.

Just pizza, with some antipaste and desserts. Good wine list. Pure, authentic, Neapolitan. Hidden away in Ravenswood. Love it!

A wide variety of pizzas that are unique. Very fresh ingredients and some of the best pizza sausage I've ever eaten. The crust is just the right thickness and very tasty.

I felt like I was at my Nonna's house having Sunday dinner. delicious homemade authentic Italian Food. Super cute!

The owner Jonathan made us feel as part of his big family. He was very kind and friendly, his staff is nice and helpful and the menu is something incredible. I am from Italy and I have not found any better pizza anywhere else i travelled the US.I loved it, a must try! I wish they would deliver it to New York!

We took our grandson here after visiting Graceland Cemetery. We wanted pizza in Chicago so this attracted us. The pizza was delicious but the service was slow, especially when we wanted the bill.

When my wife and I are in Chicago we only eat pizza at Spacca and they have our favorite Neopolitan pizza. This time we ordered something different because Leonardo recommended the pistachio pizza. You are probably thinking exactly what I was when he mentioned it, what the heck is pistachio pizza? It was really delicious and did not have any tomato sauce on it, just a pistachio cream and sausage. Also ordered a diavalo which was great. The polpo (octopus) was also really tasty. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Give this place a try if you are visiting Chicago and like Neopolitan pizza. Also, their tables inside are very far apart and all staff are masked. They request you put a mask on when the staff approaches your table. I was perfectly fine with this.

Our son lives in this neighborhood and took us to Spacca Napoli the last night of our visit. This is a lively neighborhood place and we loved it. We have been to Naples and this is very authentic and delicious pizza! Our server, Leo, was very helpful and did a great job. We ordered mushroom pizzas....just the right amount of ingredients and so tasty. Most importantly, the crust was perfect! Great choice for pizza! Almost makes me wish I lived in Chicago.

I have found my new favorite pizza spot! Spacca Napoli by far beats any Chicago style pizza you will ever have. Though the location is well off the beaten path, it is completely worth the trip. During my latest trip to Chicago, I decided to give this place a try and I honestly wish I would had found it years ago. The ingredients are fresh and the service is great. Everything we ordered from the pizza to the wine was impeccable. I honestly cannot wait to return.

Can here for the Neapolitan pizzas and was not disappointed. Nevertheless, the baby squid appetiser stole the show! Do order it if you visit!!!

Love the Pizza here, very good table service and we had a table out on the sidewalk patio. Loved the thin crust and the deep dish ingredients. Good winelist.

Fantastic pizza and salad! Wish they were located in Phoenix! Would go back to Chicago just for this restaurant!

You have to try the pistachio pizza! One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten. The service is excellent.

We were invited here for pre-wedding dinner. Many of us had not seen each other for a while and so there was a lot of talking and standing around until we were already to eat, the restaurant was very accommodating to our pace. The groom ordered a wide variety of pizzas for all of us to try the only drawback was that as the pizzas were presented no one ever explained to us what the different ones were or that others would be forth coming as a result not everyone got to try the variety of pizzas but those that we did have were very, very good I can see why this is such a popular place.

We really enjoyed a family lunch of delicious Neapolitan style pizza that was delicious! The place have modern twists on it as well but just ask the great team for the classic experience and you could get a real traditional style pizza. They have amazing buffalo muzarella as well! They also happen to serve the absolute best Italian coffee in Chicago. I’m serious! Have espresso or cappuccino after your meal. Fantastic place all around!!

I’m Italian, live in Italy and was grown there. I travel all over my country and have been eating Pizza since I can remember. Seldom will you find in Italy a Pizzeria where the excellence in making pizzas reaches the excellence I came across in Spacca Napoli in Chicago. Who ever goes to restaurant will not only have a wonderful lunch or dinner, but also an insight in another culinary world. And if by chance you should go to Napoli (Neaples) , the homeland of Pizza, than you’ll realise that Spacca Napoli lives up to the highest standards.

After finishing my business in Chicago recently, I wanted a light supper in a charming environment before taking a taxi to my airport hotel to stay before my early morning return flight. A colleague recommended Spacca Napoli. It was perfect. Because this was in mid-September, the weather was lovely, and I was able to eat outside with a large crowd of locals who clearly love this place. And there is a reason for that! The menu of Italian specialties was varied, the food delicious, and the service pleasant and efficient. I would happily return there.

Best Italian pizza in Chicago - I'm spoiled because this is our neighborhood joint, but it's so incredible. The insalatas are so fresh, the olive oil is mwah, and the pizza itself is so wonderful. When I tell people where I live they always ask " have you been to spacca Napoli" yet because it's known throughout the city as being so incredible.

If you want true Italian style pizza, this is the place to go. It is my absolute favorite pizza, reminds me of the pizza I had in Italy. Very thin soft crust with slightly puffy edges, fresh ingredients with the right amount of spices. The prosciutto and arugula, the four cheese, the margherita pizza, all soooo delicious. Great little outdoor sitting area as well. Easy to get street parking and quiet neighborhood.

The best gluten free pizza ever. I'm also dairy free and this pizza still did not disappoint. The crust was soft and delicious and the freshness of the ingredients was incredible. Both pizza's were bursting with flavour.

Great a spot. Great service. Amazing pizzas made with quality ingredients and creative. One of the best pizzas I have had in Chicago. Expresso is also really Italian.

The food was great but a bit over-priced. We'd been looking forward to coming here for quite some time and finally had the chance. The pizzas look amazing, but we went with lots of non-pizza options instead -- grilled octopus, caprese salad, meatballs, fried zucchini flowers, which were all good but for the portion size, were overpriced.

The pizza is always fresh and delicious..perfect thin crust. The wine list is extensive and don't forget to try the fabulous specials. Not much indoor ambience and the food comes out quickly so you don't always feel like lingering, but the food outweighs the lack of ambience. The outdoor space, although crowded, IS outdoor space after all and is delightful.

This pizzeria was such a nice find. They have pizzas of all types - your run of the mill types, plus cheese free, gluten free, olive oil based, etc. And the appetizers and dessert are great too. Plenty of parking nearby, and the restaurant is large and can accommodate many diners at once. We’ll definitely go back for more.

Real authentic Neopolitan pizza. Light airy crispy crust. Decent Burratta and bocce ball for dessert. Out of the way but always long lines. Served quickly but can be hit or miss. Love the pizza tho. One of best in the country.

I came here for dinner with 3 friends and was surprised that our bill reached over$40 per person for pizza and drinks. The food was good, but I thought it was steep for pizza. Also they were out of their 3 cheapest red wines, so that drove up the cost. You might be better off at lunch time.

Delicious 14 inch Neapolitan style pizza with a puffy, chewy crust but a bit soft in the center and made with high quality ingredients like real buffalo mozzarella and parm regg cheese. The salads and appetizers are good also. There are about 20 different ones on offer, both white pizza (i.e. without tomato sauce) and red (with tomato sauce). In addition to the printed menu, there are a few daily specials: a couple apps, a couple pizzas and a wine. We like to order an app or salad and one pizza to share. It's enough for 2 people unless you are ravenous. And there's good gelato for dessert. The restaurant is spread over several rooms with tile floors, wooden tables and chairs and plaster walls, in an attractive rustic Italian style. In summer there are sidewalk tables with umbrellas, too.

The food at Spacca Napoli NEVER disappoints. The pizza is absolutely delicious, and they have lovely, unique, salads and authentic Italian appetizers. This is the closest you'll get to real, handmade Italian pizza without taking an international flight!

Spacca Napoli had some of the best brick oven pizza I've ever had. We had an amazing buffalo mozzarella appetizer, then a six cheese pizza and sausage pizza. All three dishes were amazing and the service was great. We will be back.

Nice pizza restaurant in north side of Chicago. Sometimes the waiting time is a little too much for a restaurant that is not in a best location, but i guess people love there pizza. My favorite is Margarita. Enjoy

We have been to Spacca Napoli several times and each experience has been fantastic. The grilled octopus is delicious and the cherry tomatoes are some of the best I have ever tasted. The insalta mista (especially the green olives in it!) is to die for. I am gluten free and can say that this is some of the best gluten free crust I have ever tasted. It is fluffy, has great flavor and looks just like the regular pizza crusts. The menu offers both red and white (sauce vs no sauce) pizzas and included many different, and may I say authentic, toppings. The desserts are also incredible and right when you walk out the door the hosts hand out amazing mini cannolis! Each time our server has been very knowledgable and friendly, and the service is never slow. Overall, Spacca Napoli is a marvelous, genuine pizzeria. I would defiantly recommend going here for dinner if you are in town.

I found this place quite by accident but since my husband and I have been on a quest to find good pizza since we moved to Chicago we happily went to check it out. It is a very nice looking place with outside dining. We sat inside and were seated immediately by the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. Our waitress was very attentive and we were quickly brought drinks. We order the Fritti Del Giorno which today turned out to be be Arancini. I've had Arancini before but I thought this was the best I've ever had. They were flavorful, piping hot and perfectly crunchy on the outside. For pizza we tried the Funghi e Salsiccia and were very pleased. I thought the pizza was the perfect size for two people. It was thin crust and delicious. The basil was fresh, the mushrooms were perfect...I really liked it. Then we had the Tiramasu for dessert. My husband had an Americano and I had a latte. Hands down this was the best latte I ever had and I drink lattes all day every day. My husband also tried an Italian beer with his dinner which he enjoyed. The bill was reasonable and all in all, we were pleased with the service and the food. We will definitely come back and I would recommend this place.

My colleagues took me here for our 'end-of-year' school lunch and I CAN'T WAIT to take my wife. The place specializes in Neopolitan style pizza which I learned is pizza without tomato sauce which I was afraid might not do it for me nut it was amazing! The fresh ingredients, cheese, olive oil, basil, tomatoes were just incredible. They have the most unique apps as well. The cost was what would be expected in a north side of Chicago establishment but the wood-fired pizzas and the crust? Wow!! Highly recommend!

5 of us were sat at a table that couldn’t fit our plates and drinks, let alone any food. They delivered pizzas and we had to hold them in our laps, unable to cut and eat them. Asked for a different table, was refused. Owner came out and said that 5 people should be able to eat just fine, just need to hold the pizzas on the corner of the table. He was rude, condescending, and made no effort to make the experience passable, let alone enjoyable. We’ve hosted parties there before and the food is okay, but service always sub par. Based off of the ownership alone, I don’t think this place deserves business, and we won’t be giving it any more.

At this restaurant they made a nice thin crust. Layered a lot of good, pretty fresh ingredients on top. There weren't many options but the ones they had were good. The price was very reasonable as well. Good staff

5 starts for sure!! They have the BEST neapolitan pizza in Chicago. All the pizzas are amazing! If you love Burrata cheese then this is your place. It’s straight from Italy and it is pure heaven!

My family was in town visiting our daughter at Loyola University in Chicago and I found this place on Trip Advisor. It was about a 15 minute drive from the university but I’m so glad we decided to come here instead or ordering from some regular old pizza place close to the university. Hands down, this is some of the best Neapolitan Pizza I have ever had. Also, from the moment we walked into this place, you could tell the people working here liked what they did for a living. It’s a family owned restaurant with a great friendly attitude to go with it. The place was filled with Italian families that had multi generations of family members with them, that should tell you something. I don’t have a single complaint about this place. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of parking right next to the restaurant. We will definitely go back to this place again and try a few different Za’s.

The crust was perfectly thin and chewy, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. The ambiance was cozy, though the seating felt a bit cramped. Service was friendly but slightly slow during peak hours.

Great pizza, crunchy crust, tangy sauce, generous toppings, and enough variety to make you believe that you're in Italy!

Ordered a Margherita Pizza, and it was just ok. Have had better in many different places, so maybe this one just isn't there best. Might give it a second chance with a different pizza.

We came here as part of Chicago Pizza Tours. Our guide Jonathan, the owner of CPT, had bumped into Jon (of Spacca) at a ballgame recently and was asked why he doesn't visit more often. So ... because of traffic issues and opportunity, Jonathan took us here. So glad he did! No need to elaborate too much. Jon showed us how he creates the dough and how carefully they treat the dough ... then the pizza. If you are a pizza fanatic, this is school. Hands down the best Napoli style pizza we've tried and extra points for the pistachio/pesto/sausage he also served us. The crust here is so ridiculously simple and pure. The carbon spots are a perfect balance for the sweet tomatoes. You can taste the flour! Everything we tried was magic. Jon is a master. One of those rare people who understand what brings them joy and then pursue it with a passion.

This is no doubt a 5-star restaurant that basically serves just pizza. When it comes to an ultimate pizza experience, Spacca Napoli delivers with the flavors of Italy. Actually they are as close to Italy as you can come with their ingredients (Tomatoes, Olive Oil, Flour) and pizza ovens being delivered from Italia. I love this place. Authentic Italian fare, awesome products, excellent menu, friendly staff, and great service. They do have a gluten-friendly crust and plenty of veggie-friendly options if the meat is not your thing. The atmosphere is great. Plan on a wait on the weekends.

My wife and I grabbed lunch here and the pizza was awesome! We had one with sausage and mushrooms. The Margherita looked good too. We couldn't believe how fast we got our meal. We started with a caprese salad and it was also very good. Would return!

This is without a doubt the best Neapolitan pizza I have had outside of Europe. It is everything Neapolitan should be. The crust was crispy on the outside yet light and chewy. We had the Bufalino (for a true Margherita pizza) and the Caprese Buratta. The Buratta was the best I have had and the pizza reminded me of my time in Italy. We will definitely be back.

If you go on weekend evenings, you'll get a small cannoli as you leave. If you're getting take out, they may hand you a glass of Prosecco. We get the Margherita pizza or the Bufalina pizza, and some read wine. The Burrata appetizer is outstanding! We love this place!!

We had the best time this evening. Our server was outstanding and the wood fired pizza was out of this world. Everyone ordered a different pizza and we all shared. Did the same with a couple of excellent appetizers. Be sure to order dessert. You’ll be glad you did. Super (supper) time in a great atmosphere.

I fell in love with Neopolitan style pizza while on vacation in Italy, both in Naples and the Amalfi Coast. It was a life-changing experience. Well, now I can have it in Chicago. The owner actually brings in the ingredients from Naples multiples times a week - and what a difference that makes in taste. This is as close as it gets!!

We loved it. Fresh ingredients and lovely staff. The tiramisu was moist and delicious. Lovely place to eat inside or outside.

We loved the pizza. I think its the best we've had outside of Naples, with much better service and a really warm welcome

Pop the prosecco, laugh with friends and have the best pizza in town. Wood fired crusts and the most authentic pies around.

Enjoyed an evening at Spacca Napoli. The thin crush pizza was delicious...maybe the best pizza I'd ever had. The tomato sauce was light and absolutely divine. Had gluten free crush, also. I had regular crust and it was really good. They say one 10" pizza works for a single person, but you could also share. Had the beet salad as an appetizer and it was fabulous: beets, goat cheese, bacon, radicchio. Wine was a bit expensive; our bottle was $48 with glass of wine about $10. Worth the trip. We made reservations and they took us on time. It was busy the whole time we were there (Saturday evening). Absolutely put this on your "go to" list.

Spacca Napoli is by far the most authentic Neapolitan Pizza in Chicago. Perfection every single time. Lunch, Dinner, always recommended. The perfection is in the simplicity. Many restaurants offer dishes with a hundred different unique ingredients but at Spacca, the high quality ingredients all speak for themselves. Every time we come we wonder why we don't more often. The only thing is I wish they were open a bit later and had more of a bar area.

the waitress was really friendly and polite and she looks like shes a model but my hushband didnt like it

You come into the restaurant, after looking at the inauspicious brick outside and wondering "Can this be a good place???". Well allay your concerns, the inside is a wonderfully decorated and classic Neopolitan Italian Pizzeria! They have great service and equally wonderful staff. They have a very warm and friendly atmosphere, wonderful service and staff and outstanding appetizers. The pizza choices are wonderful and they come out pretty quickly (yes, one of those high-heat ovens. Definitely worth the visit! PS - in the evening, there are a ton of free and open parking spaces across the street because of the train station. VERY EASY TO PARK, something you don't often find in Chicago!

This place is soo unique. It’s like a true Pizzeria that you would find in northern Italy or southern France. If you are seeking “Chicago style” deep dish or the standard red sauce smothered in mozzarella then go elsewhere. This is true wood fired pizza with chef designed combinations that and hand tossed, prepared and fired up just for you. Bummer is no reservations so lines can get get long on the weekend, especially in the winter when no outside seating is available. Decent wine list and interesting appetizers as well.

We met our daughter here last night for a celebratory dinner. The restaurant was crowded. Service was attentive but our waiter was not particularly friendly. We had the salad with tuna and potato as well as the caprese. Caprese salad was very nice with fresh mozzarella. The other salad was average. We tried 3 different types of pizza. All were good but didn't have the same type of crust I remember eating in Naples. We ordered a bottle of wine - it ended up that none of us particularly cared for - it was expensive.

Best pizza I have had in years! This is true pizza with an amazing crust and delish fresh toppings. Great service too! Cool location with indoor and outdoor seating. Great to go as well.

I was told that the owners of Spacca Napoli brought over EVERYTHING from Italy. The oven, the flour, the beer, soda, and even some of the help. Anyway this gave me high expectations, and that often leads to disappointment. I'm happy to report that that this restaurant delivers the goods. First the wood fired pizzas are cooked to perfection, topped with delicious sauce, cheese, and authentic toppings. The appetizers are all equally tasty including the eggplant involtini and wood grilled octopus. If you've never tried octopus this is the place to rectify that. Desserts, especially the chocolate tartufo are all spot on. And they don't drop the ball on the espresso and cappuccino court either. When we left one of the owners handed us petite, perfect little cannoli. Hard not to love a place that loves you back.

Wow, what a great splurge night for our last evening in Chicago! I felt like we were transported to Italy. One appetizer and two pizzas were perfect for three people and left room for dessert which is not to be missed. The Eduardo pizza from the specials menu had roasted eggplant to die for. The peach dessert with gelato was divine on a hot summer evening. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Only about two blocks from an El station so it was easy to find. This was definitely our most expensive meal in Chicago but also the most enjoyable. Get away from it all with a mini vacation to Spacca Napoli!

This is the place! This pizza is incredible, we also have tried a few apps. Everything has been good. Nice wine selections and very good service.

Had a wonderful family dinner here. It was nice to breakaway from the Chicago deep dish. We ordered the burrata appetizer, Margherita, and Diavola pizza- all amazing! Burrata was the freshest I've ever had. It's flown in daily from Italy. The only thing I would say is the restaurant lacks a bit of ambiance. They don't serve liquor, which I didn't mind because I'm a wine drinker. We were seated within 5 minutes of our arrival, which was great since we had our kids. I would definitely return for the pizza and burrata.

This place is definitely off the beaten path but they have parking. Great place for a romantic or first time date!!

My daughter who lives in Chicago loves this pizza place and we ordered from there when me and my other daughter came to visit. We ordered for delivery cheese pizzas for the children and mushroom and spinach pizzas for the adults. We also ordered arancini fried rice balls and burrata creamy mozzarella cheese and bread. Everything was delicious.

I have to say, I was born and raised in Naples, therefore pizza for me is a big deal and luckily in Chicago I've never had any problems. For long time I thought Rossopomodoro (Eataly) was the number 1 but after the last 3 times I have been at spaccanapoli the ranking for me has changed. They constantly have specials, the products are 100% imported and I can definitely tell. Whoever rated this pizza below 4 stars well...simply they don't know what they are talking about. Prices are high but products are imported so..during week ends can get pretty busy and long lines can be discouraging but to me, is worth the wait. I don't have much to add, neapoltean pizza in chicago = spaccanapoli.

We took the 15 minute uber ride from Michigan Ave to Spacca Napoli! It was well worth the visit. we had the Buratta appetizer which was so unbelievable! We had a Blanco Nero pizza and a sausage and mushroom pizza. Both were amazing. The Rose wine was good too:)) Make the visit to Spacco Napoli!

I have been to Spacca Napoli 3-4 times over several years. Although many pizzerias claim to be authentic, this one is. It is the best pizza I have ever tasted. No surprise. I learned on my second visit that the ingredients are flown in from Italy almost daily. The staff is typically friendly and informative. Like in Italy in spit of reservation we waited fifteen minutes. My family and I waited only 10 minutes. The place was full and the atmosphere was warm energetic. While we waited the staff offered us and others some appetizers. Our pizzas were nothing short spectacular, bursting with flavor. It reminded me of the pizzas my husband and I had in Naples and the Amalfi Coast.

It has been a while since the last time I visited a new VPN Americas pizzeria and I was delighted to have a late lunch at Spacca Napoli. We took the Brown Line train to Montrose and walked a few minutes to the place. We arrived early enough to be seated right away. We had the calamari piccante to start and it was very good. Then we had a Bufalina with garlic pizza which was perfect. Service was friendly and attentive (thanks, Karen). We plan to be back.

We had apps, salad, 4 pizzas, 2 desserts, a bottle of wine, Italian beer, and espresso. Everything was fantastic! Our favorite pizzas were the Diavola and Regina (specials). You have to try the Nutella dessert, there's enough to share.

Long wait, but worth it. Great staff. Prices are OK, excellent lemoncello. Authentic. Desk staff could be a little more patient with customers. But all in all well worth it.

Had a fantastic lunch with my family here. Not only were the pizzas amazing but the service was also impeccable with great recommendations for those at the table that weren't sure what to order. The seafood salad we split as a starter was unbelievable. Hard to beat the pizzas but it was even better.

While there are other famous venues in Chicago for eating deep-dish pizza, up in the northern part of the city offers this option for pizza of a different style, Neapolitan, or very thin crust. I had been a deep-dish lover for decades but the pizza here has just won me over. Spacca Napoli is an absolute favorite to the point of my wife and I leaving the solid downtown options (where we live) behind and heading up north. It is really worth the trip. Spacca Napoli's beverage selection is uncanny and focuses on what would be available in Campania, Italy, home of the Neapolitan pizza to provide an even more authentic experience. Some wines you will have a very difficult time (I've tried...) finding anywhere else - particularly those made with the Casavecchia grape which was thought to be extinct up until a few decades ago. My wife and I have visited this restaurant at least a dozen times and given our love of it were delighted that we were able to host our groom's dinner here for about 20 people for our immediate families. The same level of service and quality of food was maintained as it had been all those times where we were dining just as a couple. Special shout-outs go to Scott (manager) and Spiro (head waiter) for organizing and making this evening a memorable part of our wedding weekend - we can't thank you enough! Greatly looking forward to going back - this is an absolute neighborhood gem.

When it first opened Spacca Napoli was one of the few places (perhaps in the USA) where you could get a "Verace Pizza Napoletana." Now there are many others, but to my mind SN is still the best for Neapolitan pizza in Chicago. What's more the quality of the ingredients in the pizzas and he other offerings (primarily antipasti) are topnotch, and the specialties are always interesting. It really has all the characteristics of a top notch Italian pizzeria, where the individuality and care of the owner create an authentic Italian dining experience.

Then go to Spacca Napoli to get your fix of Neapolitan pizza. It's authentic and delicious. We also enjoyed the grilled vegetables. Nice for lunch or casual dinner.

Spacca Napoli greatly deserves its top rating for superb thin-crust pizza. The homemade caprese con bufala appetizer also was a highlight not to be missed.

It was a gorgeous Sunday afternoon and we were looking for patio seating around 2pm. There was ample outdoor seating when we arrived. The host informed us that all the empty tables were reserved and that we had to sit inside “given all their reservations.” Even inside the restaurant wasn’t that busy. He gave us a table in the window so we had a view of the patio. While we enjoyed our lunch, not a single person was seated out doors. The remaining outdoor tables emptied albeit 1 or 2. It was silly and left us with a frustrated experience. The food was good. Pizza always solid. We live a few blocks away and will now hesitate to come back due to this experience. There are other newer Neapolitan pizza restaurants nearby with better customer service.

A local brought me here many years ago and I was happy to return. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path (in a residential neighborhood about a 15-20 min cab ride from the heart of downtown) but the journey is worth it. Because we got stuck in traffic, we arrived well after our reservation time but the host was very gracious and sat us after a quick wait. Spacca Napoli serves truly an authentic Neapolitan pizza! I started with the octopus appetizer and the pizza alla diavola (both pictured...and both delicious! Because of dietary constraints, we also tried 2 of the gluten-free pizzas (Spacca Napoli will make any of the pizzas on the menu with gluten-free dough) which were also good for what they were. For dessert, split the panna cotta and raspberry sorbet which were great with each other. No doubt I will return if I'm craving great pizza when I'm back in Chicago.

Everything was excellent! How to get there? In Sunnyside Av, cross with N. Ravenswood Av. Opening hours: Tuesday to Thursday 11:30 am to 9 pm. Friday & Saturday 11:30 am to 10 pm. Sunday 12 pm to 9 pm. Closed on Monday. Service: just excellent. I think is the best service I have received in a restaurant. Our waiter was very professional, he was always there without being annoying, his recommendations were simply perfect from antipasti to dessert, even with beers. Food: we get the Grigliata di Verdure (grilled eggplant with red and yellow peppers) as a starter, simply delicious, a very nice taste and something light to have space for pizza. For pizza we have the Diavola (waiter recommendation) that was also an incredible surprise, the size was just perfect, also all the pizzas they prepared are made with extra virgin olive oil and they offer gluten- free pizza. For dessert we had the Spumoni, that I have not tried, but basically is an incredible ice cream, with flavors that I did not thinks taste as good together: pistachio, rum, strawberry and chocolate. Place: the place is big enough, they have some good pictures decoration the rooms. Nothing special, but good place. Quality/Price: approx. USD $60 (MXN $1,150), I think that for the service and the quality of the food, the price was very good. Other: we were carrying our luggage and they let us put it in other area.

We were looking for a "real" pizza in Chicago and found Spacca Napoli. The service was outstanding and the pizza was delicious. We ordered the Bufalina accompanied by a nice bottle of Nepente di Oliena and finished with a Mirto. I would eat here again, and again.

No Chicago deep-dish pizza here, only pure Italian style! At Spaccanapoli you'll find traditional pizzas as well as very particular daily-specials with local and high-quality Italian ingredients only. We also enjoyed several appetisers (prosciutto e bufala and insalata di mare) and the desserts (you will love Tiramisù!). Downsides: it is in the north of Chicago (very far from the center), on weekdays it closes really early (9pm) and it is quite expensive (15-18 $ per pizza). To sum up, Spaccanapoli definitely compares to some of the best pizza restaurants you will find in Italy. We'll be back!

Excellent food, excellent service and nice atmosphere. Even the gelato tasted authentic. Best thin crust pizza on the North side.

Stopped in for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Spaccanapoli is open all day so it is convenient if you are busy running around and don't get a chance to eat until 3pm. Pizzas were very good with a slightly thicker crust which is the way it's done in Naples. Potato croquettes were only okay as the smoked mozzarella inside was not melted and a bit chewy. Reasonable prices and good service.

We came here on a weekend and the lines were out the door - even though it was cold. We couldn't stay then, but we came back about two weeks later - really early on a weeknight. We started with a great burrata appetizer, a lovely mozzarella with a creamy center. In Italy, we were told that you should eat burrata the day it's made. Their burrata, we were told, came from Italy. It was clearly more than a day since it was made, but it was quite good and filling (one order is enough for two - we took home half). We then had a margarita pizza, which is cheese, tomatoes, and basil on a thin crust. We had had this in Italy and this edition was as good. The crust was crisp and nicely charred on the edges. I would have liked a bit more tomato sauce and basil, but we did finish it. We ended with a shared tiramisu and, props to our server, he told us it was not made there. It was just adequate. Overall, for pizzas of a considerable variety, this is a great place.

basically we did our trip from rome and we are actually lives in rome from few months . we have lots of plan about our working perpous. we did the trip in us and we enjoyed our lunch with pizza napoli. its test very yammy . best service and recommended to them ,

Very kind staff and a pizza as good as in Italy. The appetizers are also outstanding. I got a burrata and it was delicious! The Covid precautions are fully respected. Huge distances between tables and attentive waiters. Even the pens that are given to sign the bill are sterilized. Really a great pizzeria and perfect staff! We will definitely return!

The food here is delicious! Salad was super fresh and yummy and pizza was - well, amazing. After a long day of walking around and exploring Chicago, tasty hot pizza was a welcome delight. What did NOT feel welcome was US as guests. The restaurant was very crowded, which is a good thing. But there is not enough room to wait without getting in the way of servers, and the greeters at the hostess/host stand were a bit rude. If it hadn't smelled so yummy in the restaurant, the unwelcoming attitudes of the greeters might have turned me away.

I don't know the Ravenswood neighborhood at all, so a business lunch there gave the chance for a first-time experience at Spacca - which is now on my list for a return. Quiet setting at mid-day, easily seated with no reservations. Four of us did for their special of mushroom soup for starters, and choices from the specials on thin-crust pizza. (Appetites should guide - one each makes a filling lunch although daintier tastes might well share.) Based on one visit, exploring around the rest of the menu would be well warranted. Service and value just fine in all respects.

There are so many kinds of pizza in America and this is super thin crust which I usually like . The restaurant was filled with lots of happy diners when I was there. The pizza is served fast because it’s done in less than 2 minutes . I thought the cheese wasn’t melted enough myself.

Went in on a Saturday evening around 630pm, was told a 45 minute wait for two. No problem, we head to the bar up the street to wait for the text. Not five minutes later, we got the call and rushed back. Pizza is delicious and so fresh. Burrata is as large as your face and some of the BEST I’ve ever had! Great wine recommendation from our waiter. Overall fantastic experience.
Need upscale pallette to enjoy this menu
The menu offers 10 to 12 different styles of pizza but lacks "traditional" pizza. Each is offering is rich in oil with other ingredients like nuts. The non-pizza menu was another 10 to 12 items, but again the entrees needed a lot of explanation from the waiter.
