What a great place!

By LeePulaski_Va_ |

My kids took me to this place after their work days. It is fabulous. The bar is warm, inviting, and spacious. My two craft beers, quaffed down in an instant, were rich and tasty. I really loved and quickly devoured the venison dog with kraut layered on top. The fries and pretzel we shared were wonderful as well. I would kill to have a place like this near my home.

Indoor Beergarden

I’ve spent a lot of time lately in Eugene, OR where the natives know their beers and adore their IPA’s brewed with local grown hops. This small city of 160,000 people supports six full-time large craft breweries and there is a Bierhaus on almost every block – some serve bar food others are full restaurants. These establishments try to educate their consumers and celebrate their beers with information cards that remind me of baseball trading cards. They list the ingredients, specific gravity, alcohol content and International Bitterness Units (IBU) and describe how each beer is brewed and provide tasting notes. They usually provide free 2 ounce tastes and sell 5 ounce flights. All this makes it easy to expand your horizons and try new beers. The Bier Stein in Eugene must stock 1,000 different beers. You order from your table using a smart phone app. Like Netflix, they learn your tastes and can offer suggestions based on history and food ordered. Fascinating. So it was with great anticipation that I went to Spritzenhaus for the first time with my wife’s colleagues. Well there were long tables with long benches at which to drink beer with your friends. They did have about 20 beers on tap, but the only information offered about each beer was its name, the brewer and alcohol content. No flights, no growlers. The only food offered was fries and various hot sausages. I did not feel encouraged to try new things. Well at least it was warm inside on a snowy night.

Great Group Spot

By Molly C |

Having been to many beer gardens back home, I was a little hesistant to give this place a try. I was definitely glad I changed my mind. The restaurant is spacious and open and never feels crowded despite the masses that show up on a Friday/Saturday night. The beer selection is incredible and the staff were very knowledgeable and helped me select the best options. The food is also really good.

Great selection of beer; large welcoming space

By Bktraveller |

Came here to watch Sunday football. There was only one large screen for the nationally televised game as its more of a beer hall than sports bar, but very nice welcoming space (and family friendly). We watched and played Jenga on one of the long tables. The food is mostly sausages and a few other dishes (including a salad which i enjoyed since i don't eat sausage). So a bit of a limited menu but all in all a solid spot.

Great ambience, drinks and food

By theitrain |

Let me get this straight. You get a brat, beer AND a shot for $15? In New York? And there's Jenga and good music and people of all ages and backgrounds? I don't believe you.

Beer hall with character

By peebs777 |

Came to Brooklyn to visit my son. We were headed for the Manhattan Inn, but it was closed so we came here--and thrilled that we did! It wasn't crowded [would probably be a madhouse on a weekend night] ... bartenders were friendly and very helpful ... fireplace was roaring and felt wonderful after hours of walking in 35-degree weather. I am not a beer drinker... but the bartender recommended a German wheat beer and it was terrific. Ditto for the pretzels.

Great sausages and beer...and jenga!

By Randjz |

Great beer garden with venison, rabbit, buffalo, beef, etc...sausages with a variety of unique and delicious toppings. Also a huge variety of beers. Great Place to hang out and enjoy great food.

Great Place to Grab Exceptional Beers

By Stewart P |

My wife, family, and friends visited this open air beer hall to celebrate one of our son's birthdays. The open air atmosphere with a huge number of large tables to sit down on provided a great venue to celebrate. The beer selection was amazing and included domestic and international variety. We did not try any of the food so I cannot comment on its quality and taste. We all had a good time at this venue and can recommend it for it's atmosphere, location, and beer selections.

Excellent selection of beers

By Nalott |

Beers very good, service very good. We didn't eat though. Will try next time. I recommend to every beer lover.

Fantastic place for beers with friends

By Heuserkampf |

The Spritzenhaus is a great place to have a couple of beers with friends. During summer the large windows to the street are open and there's a cosy fireplace for wintertimes. The beer selection at the bar is great.

Ideal to go with friends

Great bier house to go with friends for a night out. Offers a wide range of biers and cocktails. We were saddisfied woth ours

rude bartender with attitude

By theskeptic |

I don't care about the atmosphere and beer selection, if common courtesy is in short supply as is in this place, especially when you'd simply like to unwind after a long day. I don't care how great the atmosphere is or the selection of beer, IF the place is in short supply when it comes to common courtesy and bare minimum of customer service. The bartender on Wednesday night (a lady) gave me an attitude when I asked about the types of drinks I could have with aperol and made me feel like an ignorant for now knowing them. Would it hurt to do her job and just mention a few mixes she could make with aperol instead? All the while, acting like she was doing me a favor to serve me a simple Aperol Spritz and taking my money. Too much to ask for simple manners and customer service? AVOID this place.

we had a great time here playing Jenga and drinking Beer!

By dakotakidz |

The large doors were open, people sat on the patio, the music was playing...we had a great time hanging out here for a couple hours drinking and playing jenga! what a great idea for this place packed with picnic tables, a great fireplace, and huge overhead doors that open up to the outside! they had a pretty strong beer selection, plus I had a good (but overly peppered) bloody Mary...skip the michelada -- a play off a chelada - however, NOT a good drink). Their "belgian fries" were just fries, so that was bad advertising, but the chorizo chili was very light and fresh, and my friend had the rabbit brat and like it a lot. I would say they have 70-80 beers there - lots of imports and craft beer. This is just north of the williamsburg area of brooklyn that has a lot of restaurants and kitschy shops - a good place to hang out. we took the subway to the Bedford stop and then walked to the Brooklyn brewery, then here. if you walk "behind" the bar a few blocks youll see some awesome graffiti painting too!

Great Beer Selection

By lag726 |

We stopped here for a bite, and a beer while visiting Brooklyn. They have an extensive beer selection, but I think they might do better expanding the food menu just a bit! Not everyone loves brats, but I can appreciate that it is a German establishment! The pretzels were ok, and those that ordered brats absolutely loved them! It's a fun atmosphere with great beer, but if you aren't a fan of brats you may want to eat before you arrive!

Great craft beer

By Bruce Newlands |

Visited on a weekday afternoon and enjoyed a relaxed quiet atmosphere with the fire stoked. We tried a range of great craft beers, including the local brew and a few Belgian ales and had some of the delicious sausages with various sauerkraut inspired toppings, went down well with the beer and the game of Jenga we were playing. All in all a great beer hall with welcoming staff and relaxed atmosphere, we'll definitely be back.

Terrible client experience

By CarmenSpain |

This is supposed to be a German beer garden. Those are place where people gather together over long tables, beer and German food. And that is what my group did, like every other group in house, the only difference being, perhaps, that we were a bit more diverse and international than the rest, nothing rare in NYC. Suddenly, out of the blue, one of my friends (who happens to be Mexican) was told to leave the restaurant. We inquired for the reasons but were given no explanation whatsoever nor did the manager come to offer an explanation after we requested it. This was a very sad and disappointing experience and one that I had never encountered before in the city. It was not my first time at the place but it will certainly be the last.

Fun stop with great atmosphere

By TheFiveTs |

Lots of great beers on tap and picnic table style seating. We used one of their jenga games and had a great time! (also - try the giant soft pretzels)

Great beers!

By Campbells123456 |

Visited with my wife and 7 year old son, I went as wanted to experience some more IPA! The place was really big, atmosphere was great, loads of beers available which was really impressive. Service was quick, ordered some of the sausages which tasted really good.

Very tranquil

By Walter F |

This is a great place to have a drink in Williamsburg area when the weather is nice. It is very open and airy. They have many, many draft beers. The Jenga games which they put on the tables is actually a lot of fun to play.

Great Beer Garden!

By itsPLkielbasa |

We always come here on a Saturday night if we go out with friends. Great place, great atmosphere. Burning fireplace inside, food straight off the grill. Polish Sausage, Italian Sausage. Tons of great food. Must I add they have TONS of beer. The beer here is delicious. One of the best beer gardens I have ever been to!

Nice atmosphere, cool building renovation and tasty food!

By Me N |

We enjoyed so much, plus the service was considered and helpful. It would be great to add gluten free beer in the menu. Recommended!

Amazing beer & sausage

By Kim F |

What's not to like? Awesome selection of beer on tap and those pretzel buns they wrap the bratwurst in! Amazing. And zero attitude.

Awesome craft beer selection

By Dylan J |

The woodfire set a great atmosphere, the server was so friendly and funny. The beer selection was amazing, and the Jenga games at the table were a fun pass time between sips of beer.

Good for groups

By Rob W |

This bar is huge. Great location. Good for groups since they have large picnic-style tables. Extensive beer selection as well as a full-bar for your liquor needs. Does serve bar-food as well. Has a few outdoor tables as well.

Fun Place with Good Beer

By Zaveinn W |

If you're looking for somewhere to go on a Friday or Saturday night with some friends, this is the place to go in Brooklyn. Safe area. Jenga set available to play while eating and drinking.

Beer Garden in BK

By Cate1226 |

Great vibes. Great beer. Great music. Ahhhhh, Brooklyn is still one of the favorite places in the world because of places like this. I came to this beer garden for a friend's birthday with a group of 15 people and it was a great time! Perfect spot for a chill night to have beers with friends. There's a large beer selection, prices aren't bad either.

Awesome!

By Gunz |

Loved this place. The beer selection is awesome and I am a very picky beer drinker. It is a great open space and on a nice day all of the walls are "garage door" and open up creating a bigger space feel. The bartenders are awesome! Great place for Geempoint to have in the area

enjoyable stop

By anniet414 |

We popped in to relax and enjoy a drink and sit by the fire. The service was great and enjoyed a cider while sitting by the fire.

Great for large groups

By N333B |

This is a great place to have a birthday or other party (assuming you can yell). The large communal tables are excellent for an ever-expanding party. Beer selection is vast and good, and the sausages are the ideal food to soak up all the beer. Come on a warm day when the windows are all cranked open.

NY trip

By J K |

Wow. What a nice place to grab a German inspired lunch! Enjoyed my first on a pretzel bun with fries and cold draft beer. Many choices of draft too. Worthwhile stop.

Beer and relaxation.

By ZenMan |

Love this place! Not much in the way of food but beer......YES! Great selection of beer and an unbelievably cool vibe. Great atmosphere and fabulous beer. It's a must destination for beer lovers.

Great craft beer & food

By Olivia C |

Visited on a weekday afternoon and it had just the right amount of atmosphere with the fire going so it was nice and warm too. The food was reasonably priced and really delicious whilst the serving staff were super friendly, laid back and attentive. Would highly recommend to anyone who likes a good beer and is in the area.

Don't "look" old enough to be 21

By Ilana K |

I was invited here for a farewell party for my friend and my 18yo sister was in town...so I brought her! The party was at 3pm and there were plenty of families with children, but my sister was not allowed entrance because she "looked" like someone could serve her alcohol. I was very disappointed in the treatment I got here as it otherwise seemed like a cool place - unfortunately nice venue does not make up for unfair treatment. :(

Beer and Sausage paradise

By Daveg66044 |

It’s a total sausage fest here, but that isn’t about the gender of the patrons but rather about the food they serve. The menu here is simple: pick your sausage, pick your topping and some sides. For sausage choices, you’ve got a barnyard of animals available such as chicken, veal and duck but they also have a tasty vegan option. Toppings are what you’d expect such as sauerkraut and onions but also jalapeno-jicama slaw which I actually got as a full side. Fries, pretzels and kale salad round out the menu along with the dipping sauces. I said the menu was simple. The quality was excellent and the atmosphere was very communal with large tables for groups making it somewhat noisy but energetic. Personal space isn’t really an option here and that’s ok. The beer and cocktail selection is much much larger with a couple dozen on tap and then a huge variety of bottled beers and other alcoholic spirits. The food seems to simply be a way of keeping you drinking more and I have no complaints about that as I got to sample a large variety.

Fresh Beer, Bratwurst and Fresh Pretzels anyone?

By Vinylbug |

If you want it you got it here, so get your elbow ready. Great beer selection, great tap and well; you'll see, fresh pretzels and Brat's even vegetarian Bratz made to order. They also have a good wine list. Lively but orderly. Relive your college days. Do you play Jenga? Satisfying.

Excellent Sausages AND Drinks!

By edrick42 |

A place that can do great drinks and food is worth visiting again! Spritzenhaus serves up great sausages & sides at very reasonable prices. The toppings and sauces complement the food well and are a far cry from plain ketchup or mustard. The restaurant is large, very open, and gives everyone more than enough room to sit, stand, or hang out. You order food and drinks at the bar and bring it back when ready, so service is very quick. The Krainerwurst is perfectly garlicky with a good hint hint of spicy. Tossing chorizo chili on as a topping is a great idea, too, messiness aside : ) The fries and pretzels were also delicious, and the curry ketchup dipping sauce a perfect complement. The drink menu is fairly large, with a good selection of beers, but also a very, very respectable selection of ciders, including dry UK ciders, fruitier French/American ciders, and the wildly sweet Swedish Rekorderlig. Prices are reasonable for the drinks & sizes available, and I was happy to see the selection afforded drinks for pretty much any palette. I would return here in the future, no question!

Beer!!

By Thomas Uhrin |

Came to Brooklyn, NY in Greenpoint to visit our son. He took us to a cool german pub with good beer, food and jenga.

Cold Beer

By William C |

This is a great place in both winter and summer. Winter by the roaring fire and summer w/ the windows open. Great selection of beers, good pretzels and sausages. Friendly staff. The little kids running around can be a bit disconcerting at first but they are all part of the experience.

Sprizenhaus Some Beers and a Sausage

By Gamberioni |

This place was great. Nice space and décor, plenty of beers, adequate restrooms, simple sausages and toppings with no fuss pay and pickup. Manages to be cool without being pretentious, retro without trying too hard. Would definitely return.

Fun atmosphere and great drinks!

By JacqConn |

Really fun place to hang out and have a few drinks with friends. Even though it's a big space, definitely feels more intimate.

Nice Place for Beers and Snack

By bartpic |

This was a great place.....large selection of authentic German and other euro beers. Snacks (pretzels, wurst, ....) were top notch....open air seating was very nice on Memorial day....check it out. For folks who like sweet things....try the grapefruit juice/beer mixer.

Fine place

By Michal_137 |

Good selection of craft beers, fine place. I have spent there few hours with friends and it was all right.

Not all dogs are the same

By gianandrea f |

We choose the spot because of the beer selection and the table outside so to enjoy it with a friend and her dog. When arrived, we looked for the last table so not to eventually disturb anyone with our dog and cheered a beautiful chocolate Labrador, quietly waiting for his owner to sip his beer. We were going to seat when someone of the place came and told us we can't seat with Mina, the one year Golden Retriever of our friend. A bit shocked we mentioned the other dog. Frankly, the answer were embarrassing spanning from "When they order, the dog was not with them" to "we don't have an insurance for that" and so on. So eventually we came at Pier 26, amazing view, Mina was cheered by everybody of the staff and a lot of other people enjoying their drinks there. It's my first time to write a comment about a place but it was so disappointing that I simply cannot refrain from doing this. Next time put a sign no dog allowed or mentioned that you accept dogs of your friends only.

Pretty awesome, home of the underground Jenga scene

By Charlie72782 |

The place to be seen in the underground Jenga community. If you like beer, brats and wooden blocks, this is your Mecca. Who's a happy camper here? People who like meat, booze and wooden games. I'll definitely be back. Jenga. Bam!

Lunch with family

By Porter H |

This restaurant/bar is know for its sausage selection and selection of beers. The interior is Long benches and a large bar. Try the rabbit sausage and the Grim beer.

We were watching the ny marathon and found this nice place for lunch. Good service at the bar, good beer and good food. What else do you want on a Sunday afternoon?
