When we get the need for a pizza (like when all you want to do is drink wine and not cook anything) we call Star. It is kind of like Ghost Busters - -who are you gonna call. Their selections are unique and the ingredients are fresh..

Best pizza in Houston - PERIOD!

At this 2nd location of Star Pizza, my favorite pizza here is the Joe's, full of garlic & sauteed spinach. I prefer the whole wheat crust, which tastes better in a smaller scale here (Med vs. Lge pizza). They have regular & deep-dish as well. You need to try the weekday lunch buffet to find your favorite variety of pizza offered. The best pizza in Houston! The canelloni is also good. They do deliver, but it's not fast food, so delivery may take 45 minutes to an hour or more. Enjoy this treasure!

Unnecessarily Rude!!! I came in for a pickup order for Postmates. I was behind a customer asking questions about a wine recommendation. I noticed some orders to go on the counter to the side and stepped over and asked if this is where to pick up orders. The guy at the register (in a sweater hat and anchor pants) told me I needed to get back in line. There were two people behind the counter and sweater hat man asked for help from his coworker on wine selections. The customer offered to wait since he had no idea what to order. I said no go ahead. Another customer came in and the sweater hat guy stopped picked up an order to go and handed it to him. WTH. He went back to helping the customer. The customer again, please let her get her order. Nope. He tells me you need to get back in line. Which was only 2 steps to the right of where I was already standing. Ok. Now he addressed the customer behind me. Same customer and the new customer both tell him no she’s next. At this point he asked me what I need I tell him a pick up order and the name he grabs the order and sits it on the counter no words. I asked if he could confirm the order. He rambled it off and walked away. I’m waiting to see if that’s all or if he was grabbing utensils or napkins. Nothing. The really sad part is I was going to drop this order off and come back and see what this busy pick up spot was all about. Obviously my business is not welcomed in this spot. The only difference in me is that my skin is brown. So unfortunate because my money is still green.

The Pizza is usually always good, but the wait staff is generally rude and slow. I've seen the wait staff eat pizza lick thier fingers and then continue to roll up silverware and napkins. They have a sign up front that says "be nice or leave" it should change to "get treated like crap or leave." I've tried to eat at this place MANY times to give it more chances and by trying to support local establishments, but not yet has this place done well.

fabulous pizza & great environment but the stairs are scary!

Star is probably Houston's best non-chain pizza places. Everything is made fresh, even their dressings. Love the creative menu and the quality of the food. That is something other places lack. Staff is quirky and energetic, but fun.

I went with a friend for lunch and it was an interesting experience. They seated my friend and I at a nice window table in the back. The service was fast and staff was friendly. Apparently a server took my pizza to the wrong table and the other guest started to eat it. So, the manager came by to apologize and comped my late arriving redo pizza without me even having to ask. Classy move. Food was tasty and looked good. My friend had been there before and raved about the hummingbird cake dessert. I didn't try, but if you like fruit, it seems popular. Not #1 pizza in town, but a great place overall. Enjoyable.

I've been going to Start Pizza for years, this is easily the best pizza Houston, TX has to offer. Toppings are always fresh, and delicious. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. I love their craft beer selection, they always have the harder to find Saint Arnolds beers (like Divine Reserve) During the weekdays they have a lunch buffet that's awesome.

If you visit Houston you should definitely get a deep dish pie here! Great ingredients and it never disappoints!

Perfect place for a quick lunch with firends before heading to Memorial Park. The pizza there is amazing. Haven't found one I don't like.

After researching Chicago style pizza options in Central Houston, we picked Star Pizza for a sit-down dinner. Four of us split two large Greek salads (a large is big enough for 3 people) while waiting on two pizzas to come out of the oven. A large Chicago deep dish and a large NY hand tossed pizza arrived at our table in about 20 minutes, both were excellent. The tomato sauce and the crust were very tasty and had a hint of sweetness to them. We didn't finish them off but the pizzas were far too good to not bring the remaining pieces home. While there are many pizza restaurants in Houston, this one is definitely among the best of them.

High quality pizza from a well-established tiny chain. A plus is the Whole Wheat crust option. My favorites are the Joe's and the Margherita pizza. They also deliver within their area. They also have a lunch buffet which is delicious. The Chelsea Salad is also wonderful, and big enough to split. Be advised that their thick crust pizza can get a bit damp depending on the ingredients you choose. Ask for them to make it "well drained" to keep it soft and no soggy. They're always delicious!

Good lunch buffet with pizza, pasta, salad and dessert pizza. They keep restocking buffet with fresh hot food. They also deliver, try the Bass Bing or the Star Special

The best delivery very in Houston. Whole wheat crust available, New York hand tossed, always lots of cheese and the fresh tomatoes in their sauce are spectacular. Never disappoints.pick up if your in a hurry because they are not fast but always worth the wait.

My sister took me to this pizzeria and promised that i would not regret breaking my diet over this pizza. She was right! This is by far the best pizza I have EVER had, besides my own home made of course! Great atmosphere, great service, great pizza!

A triple "D" food experience. The pizza was OK although talking with others there we now know what to order-the service was better that average and worth going again.

We have not been there recently, but go there every chance we get. All their pizzas are excellent. My favorite is the veggie on whole wheat crust

there are a few people who really stand out... are there new owners? i think my server was a portia.. she was very kind and helpful.. and marcus.. very customer oriented

This has to be the best pizza I have ever had! Love the food and the casual atmosphere. Outdoor dining is available at both locations. They also have a lunch buffet during the week but it doesnt offer nearly as many specialty pizzas as they have on the menu. It includes pizza, a salad bar, and tea. They also deliver too if you are close enough!

pizza very generous, juicy, more like homemade

Awesome deep-dish pizza. And really good ranch!

Best pizza in town... Great salads!!! Great atmosphere friendly staff conveniently located... Wish we had one in the west side of town.

Cute place. Good pizza.

Family restaurant that is great for small or large gatherings. Not fancy or glistening but, the best homemade pizzas the way you want them. Appetizers are terrific, like the hot goat cheese with hot Italian Bread. Your fingers will help you scrape out the dish as the bread is long gone. Our family had Mother's Day at this location yesterday. So easy and comfortable sharing our dinner. Their olive oil with chopped garlic is fresh and so tasty. Prices are easy on the wallet for a large group of seven. Took home our Greek Salad as it was so large. Give this pizza parlor a try.

This place never disappoints and has become our go to for delivery or dine in Pizza. Very different than most pizza, from their house made sauce to the quality of the cheese and ingredients this place is amazing.

Both their NY style and Chicago deep dish pizzas are awesome! Best way to go is buffet (only has NY style). You get salad bar and all the different pizzas which they keep coming freshly made. The best though is their apple-pecan-cinnamon pizza. I'd go just for that. I'm pretty sure you'll get hooked once you try it!

I'd be shot if I didn't say, "Best pizza in the world!!!" I'm made to go every time I'm in Houston, but I don't mind. They are slow, but it's worth it...just gotta make sure you like who you're with.

The food here is great. So is the price! We had a deep dish pizza and it was very nice! Love the crust. It seems that when we go the servers are always cold and uncomfortable. I felt they just threw the drinks and food on the table and then the check. But pretty good place to eat and be ignored! 😁

We have been eating Star Pizza for more than the last ten years. It is simply the best pizza in Houston. Very crowded on Friday nights but they do have carry out (which is what we do on Fridays when they are have a long waiting outside by the lockers to sit down). The Margarita and Joe's in Chicago Deep Dish style are my two favorite pizzas. Always a special treat...

Star Pizza was one of my late mother's favorite places, and definitely her favorite pizza place. As a matter of fact, she celebrated her 85th birthday there.

I have been going to star pizza for more than 25 years. It was a place that I could afford while in college. Now that I am all grown up and have traveled the world, including Italy, Chicago and new York, I can say, without a doubt, that this is some of the best pizza that I have ever had. I order the Chicago style deep dish whole wheat crust starburst (kinda like a supreme). I love the tangy tomato sauce and the stringy melty cheese. They were doing whole wheat when whole wheat was not in vogue. It is crunchy on the outside and has a terrific flavor. I learned from our server that it has butter and shiner bock beer in it. no wonder I like it! service is excellent. however, you have to wait a little for these quality pies. don't fret! get a salad or appetizer to tide you over.

Not the normal junk. Wheat crust, Italian sausage, chicken breast, deep dish. Are a few served at the buffet. Oh yeah, Apple and Walnut pizza for dessert

Always love Star Pizza. Arrived too late for the buffet. Ordering off the menu there were loads of great pizza options. Service was friendly and unobtrusive. Superb late lunch.

It was ok. Nothing that I would really care to try again. We went here on the recommendation of some friends and it was OK. There were three of us, and not one of us really cared for it. There was A LOT of sauce and onion. The meats they used for topping were pretty good. The cheese bread is just that, garlic bread with some melted cheese on it. Also, it was really pricey for what you get. I'm fine with paying $15 for a decent medium pizza, but I don't really think this was worth it. The beers were almost $5 as well....so all in all it was just eh. The service was good, just not really anything else.

The pizza and salads are awesome!! Our family love eating all star pizza!! We all like the old Victorian style house look!!

One of the best damn pizza restaurants in Houston!

I love their salads and they have good pizzas. Spinach and garlic is my favorite, but the margherita is good too. Casual atmosphere with friendly service. There are too locations and I've found the service at this one to be a notch above the other, but the other was nice too. It's not far from downtown or the Heights area.

The Star Pizza in the Washington Corridor (Harvard St at Washington) gets 5 stars all around. Chicago style “Ben” pizza was great. Meat was plentiful and amount of cheese and sauce was just right.

I dislike true Chicago deep-dish pizza, but the whole wheat crust version they serve here is delicious! You can order whole pies or by the slice. We love this place!

It's been a while since I've been here for pizza. Wish they were closer because I would always get my pizza here for those lazy movie nights. Great variety and fresh tasting ingredients. I live for pizza, and this place has never disappointed. The wheat crust is so delicious!

I live in this neighborhood, and eat at Star Pizza often. The selection of salads and pizza is great, and the people are friendly. Overall, I like the place, which is why I keep going back. However, there are two BIG downsides to Star. First, it is really noisy inside, and can get to a pretty deafening level. If the weather is good, eat outside. Second, if you want coffee after your meal you will be surprised to know they no longer serve it. Fine on hot days, but often wish they had it on freezing cold ones. But hey, if you know in advance you will be happy, and it is great to support your neighborhood businesses.

Best Pizza and a great place to hang out.

So I just got back from overseas and was craving pizza. My kids tell me they know a good place to go eat pizza. We drove all the way from Katy and I was not disappointed. They have great pizza and service was excellent. This is our new family spot for pizza.

long time visitor to Star. Great pizza. not the fastest in town, but made from scratch. Well worth the wait.

Great pizza with lots of toppings. The crust and sauce are really yummy. They can get really busy (and then slow). Parking can be a headache.

First time here and it was the best pizza we've ever eaten! You can order New York style or Chicago. We had Chicago deep dish style. Hey also offer pastas, sandwiches/subs. Even the Caesar Salad was excellent. The croutons were fresh and tasty. Great customer service. Definitely will be back.

Great variety on the lunch buffet with fresh, quality ingredients. Best pizza buffet salad bar. Not impressed at all with their sauce. Enjoyed the free wifi (ask for password) and atmosphere. They maintained a great variety of pizza, and there were always good pies available. I took photos at a time when they had just consolidated slices to bring out more. They had veggie and meat and even dessert. The crust was good and the cheese was really fresh. My buffet lunch was $11.10 after tax. It was a good value.

The pizza is amazing....hands down the BEST in Houston!

Want the best pizza in Texas? I know that is a very broad, and debatable claim, but I think it is. Hands down, you won't be hungry when you leave. The pizza is a little pricey, but you get your money's worth. There is cheaper pizza around, but why? I would rather eat something that is delectable. Yes, Star is delectable!

This is really, truly, Houston's best ever pizza!! Really truly!!

Born and raised in NYC I am always wary of a place that has "ny style pizza."The pizza is fairly priced, but it may help to have someone a little more customer friendly at the takeout counter.

homemade salad dressings!

When we think of pizza we think of Star Pizza. We always make it a point to stop at Star Pizza when we find ourselves traveling to Houston. Service is quick and friendly. Their small salads are large enough to be shared by two people and they server a variety of pizzas that would satisfy anyone's desire. If you are in town then we highly recommend you make Star Pizza one of your stops.

best pizza in town

Nothing like pizza in a real pizza town (Chicago, etc)

We ALWAYS got to Star Pizza in Houston when we are traveling through! The staff is ALWAYS awesome and very accommodating of our young rowdy kids. We LOVE the food and the atmosphere. This is truly the best pizza in Houston. We wish there was pizza this good in Dallas!

This has become our go to pizza place. The Marilyn’s ( Canadian bacon, pepperoni, onion) with artichoke whole wheat, thin crust is great with a side salad. Great value at $18 for a medium. Upbeat atmosphere always crowded and great service. Try it when you get a craving for pizza

Was in Houston for my family reunion and was looking for some good food spots to hit up while we were here. Found this place on tripadvisor and even though the reviews says this place can get loud which it can and did but overall the pizza was FREAKIN FANTABULOUS!!!! Hubby and I have traveled for good tasting food before and this by far is some good pizza here. We have dined at the most expensive pizza joints in NYC...down to the mom and pop family pizza joints in New Jersey...This by Far was the best pizza I have had in a good while!!! I will be in Houston again for another reunion and I believe in giving credit where credit is due.... This place is freakin Awesome and I will return again!!!!

I have eaten at Star Pizza for years both in the restaurant and delivery. The pies are always great and made with fresh ingredients. I have also enjoyed the spaghetti and the various salads they offer. The service in the dining room is usually hit or miss but that is just what ya seem to find everywhere (almost) in the world of entitlement...

The spniach pizza is awesome.

I've been to Star a few times. The first time I loved it, but since then I've become increasingly disenchanted. Its decent college pizza, but nothing particularly special. It also tends to take forever and it is so HOT in the summer. I may go back, I may not.

chicken rosemary...as good as it gets!

food came out quick and was very tasty, the inside could use a makeover though.

Great pizza - it's a toss-up between Star and Fuzzy's.

I am a vegetarian so I probably shouldnt be in pizza places looking for a vegan meal... but the vegetarian pizza was even bad.

This place has got the BEST chicken alfredo pizza! The cheesesticks are very tasty, and if you're a salad lover, the Greek salad with the chicken on the side is GREAT. They have the best dressing that comes along with it, as well as bread and butter. Great place to kick back with friends--definitely NOT a fancy place, so come dressed comfortably!

I will drive from energy corridor to get this pizza. Simply the best around town. I wish that they would open another location in the energy corridor or Katy area as I am sure it would be very profitable!

Classic Houston. Definitely some of the best pizza this city has. Try the roasted garlic with bread - it's amazing.

great deep dish pizza but take a while to cook

Been going here for awhile. The pizza is fantastic!

All the same just Covid safe. Support the local business. No buffet. Great specials. Great waiters. Nice place food is great.

Star Pizza has held the lead in Houston Pizza since the stone age. Get a Joe's deep dish which is spinach and lots of garlic which will keep the vampires away for weeks!

dig it. delivers beer.

My car broke down so I entered the restaurant to wait for a tow truck in 100 degree heat. They were very kind and even gave me a coke while I waited. Didn’t get to try the pizza but their customer service sure was lovely! Thanks!

we enjoyed a half veggie and half meat laden pizza. We had the NY style, hand tossed crust. Both of us were satisfied. The veggies were excellent. Just the right amount of cheese, not overbearing. Several local beers available. Good service. Plenty of parking which can be a bit unusual for the Heights area.

deep dish, wow! always a winner. never disappointed at Star.

Some new friends took us to this joint, and we liked it. Being pizza snobs, we are always nervous about trying out a new place, but Star Pizza didn't disappoint. They have a big choice, and everyone ordered something different and no one was upset about their choice. Definitely worth going to and we'll be back.

servers can be kinda rude sometimes but, the yummy pizza always makes up for it.

They got so used to my cell and house address that they knew it whenever I called

BEST PIZZA IN TOWN! The wheat crust is really good too!

Whether you're a local or a visitor, Star Pizza is a must visit in Houston. Wide variety and everything from traditionals to new creations. Two story old building with a pub feel to it. They have the closest thing to a Chicago style pizza as an option - it's not Gino's East of Chicago but still delicious. Everything on the menu is great. Great service as well.

My wife and I were driving in from Nola, tired, happy, and hungry from our wedding...excellent Caesar salads, wonderful Margherita pizza. We also tried the Starburst deep dish pizza. Way too much food but it was amazing. It was packed (Sunday evening) but the service was impeccable and attentive. After a week of the best food in the world (New Orleans) this pizza held up to the standards we had become accustomed to. Look forward to going back soon when we are back in Houston.

It's so dank, whether you get deep dish or NY style. It's not cheap, but you'll be filled. Sometimes you can get 3-4 meals out of a large pizza.

Before moving to Houston I spent ten years in Chicago. So when it comes to pizza I have had some of the best that the world has to offer. Deep dish or thin crust Chicago has the best. But I can not travel to CHicago every time I want to enjoy pizza. Thank goodness for Star. It is as close as you are going to get to great pizza in the Houston area. Awesome

Yummy garlic goodness

When we find ourselves in downtown Houston we always have a difficult time picking a place to eat, but when it comes to Pizza we always go to Star Pizza. The atmosphere is very relaxed, associates are friendly, and service is always quick. In my opinion they make the best pizza using all fresh ingredients and their salads also good, but don't get one if you plan to eat all of your pizza. Everything is good.

i really dig it - i eat here alot and have been since i was in junior high !

Pizza was pretty much very good for as far as Texas pizza goes. Definitely beats the chain pizza joints . Service was good selection was minimal salad bar was except able

I was skeptical during my first trip to Star Pizza, because I was told they were the Best Pizza in town. Well to my Surprise, they Truly Are! I've had pizza from all over the country, and this comes close to one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Looking forward to returning my next visit to Houston!

Awesome pizza; great price

Honestly I feel its the best pizza in the H.

I wish I could respond to all negative reviews of this place and springboard off of all the positives that really resonate with me. But alas, there are simply too many of us with too many opinions ;-) This review is WAY overdue. Also, please keep in mind this is for Star #2 on Washington & Harvard. I've never been to the other location and am sure they differ at least slightly. I've lived all over the US, and have had many, many different types of pizzas; everything from restaurants to big chains. Although I've not lived in Chicago or NY (personally where I've found the best pizzas ever), I've eaten at numerous places in each city. Truly, I've eaten more pizza and pizza-like products than any person should be allowed. That said, Houston has long been a pizza disappointment for me. Fuzzy's back in the early/mid 2000's had what I thought was the best until they changed their sauce and cheese and overall quality dropped (just my opinion and I won't complain if its the most convenient place to go). I then found Barry's pizza on Richmond and thought I'd found the best. It wasn't very close and wasn't the best I'd ever had, although quite good. Then, I moved to the Rice Military area and discovered Star Pizza #2. I had a couple different pizzas (never with deep dish as I consider that too much bread) and was pretty impressed. I came across the Starburst with whole wheat crust and fell in love! I add fresh jalapeño (yikes! I know it's a sin for you purists!) and try to never leave any leftovers...funny thing, this isn't the best pizza for the next day. Not sure why, but it simply isn't that great warmed back up??? Again, not the deep dish, but hand-tossed. Anyway, had to add to the long list of reviews since I truly find their pizza (and spinach salad/ranch) to be the BEST in Houston. There are other good/great choices, but when I'm craving a slice or 5, Star Pizza is my go-to.

I just moved to Houston from New Orleans and we ate here based on Tripadvisor reviews. Don't get me wrong, we thoroughly enjoyed our pizza- got the thin crust whole wheat (love that option!) half spinach/garlic and half meat. It was very good.. but doesn't compare to some places back home. I would come back for their buffet because maybe we would like the deep dish or other toppings better. But I'll be very sad if this is the best pizza that Houston has to offer.

best damn pizza, period.

Today we ordered a pizza for delivery as we have done for many years. Unfortunately, it is becoming a common occurrence that the delivery time is over one hour. The person taking the order should have been honest enough to say that the pizza was going to take over an hour to deliver. Then it would have been up to the paying customer to decide whether that was okay. When confronted with the late delivery, the correct response would have been to offer an apology and a discount. But neither the apology nor the discount offer came. This is an example of a business being penny wise and pound foolish.

I love Star Pizza and been going to it for 20plus years. I still believe the Joe's Pizza with added feta cheese, a recommendation from a server 10 years ago, is the best. We had three pizzas Friday night and the unanimous decision was Joe's won the taste test.

One of Houston's best pizza's.

Best pizza in town, love the delivery.

Ive had much, much better pizza. Was disappointed in our visit to Star - from all the great reviews I was expecting much better. Not the case, It was just average pizza. Not all that flavorful.

delicious pizza, good service

Star has great pizza and other pub-style Italian dishes; very good beer selections, including micro-brews; always a winner.

Good pizza, refreshingly free of that chain feel.

we order from Star Pizza in the Heights once a week. it is always fast delivery and the pizza is consistently awesome. i have tried just about every pizza place in Houston and still have yet to change my ways.

If you love deep dish Chicago style pizza it's on par with best you'll find anywhere. Love the starburst. But like all deep dish's they just take longer (35 minutes).

Great Lunch buffet

Cmon folks- really? This is Houston's best pizza? When will I learn not to read these reviews? I am completely sincere when I say that I'd order from pizza hut before I'd order from this place again. After raiding 10 straight, raving reviews I thought I'd give these folks a chance. YUK. A soggy, tasteless, mess. Absolutely gross. If you are in the West University area- near downtown or the Galleria, do youself a favor and try Goode's seafood; or Goode's BBQ,; or Houston's. Unfortunately I can't recommend a Pizza place, but the places I mentioned have GOOD food. Ughhhhh!

Visiting Star Pizza was a refreshing experience after seeing array of chain restaurants in the states. Pizzas were different and sumptuous.

The pizza here is consistently good, whether eaten in house or delivered.

I can't keep him away from here. I love to have a glass of wine and pizza. The pizza is always outstanding - I've never had any other meal here.

Star Pizza never disappoints. We love their thin wheat pizza crust! We usually build our own and have a salad with it. The service is good and the pizza is the best in town!

Best pizza in town. Love the wheat crust. Great salads too.

Fantastic Pizza and Salads. Wonderful waitstaff and Owners. A local Houston Hang out with interesting decor. The Starburst Pizza is great but all of the pizza's are with the Hand Tossed Crust but also try the Deep Dish Chicago Style if you like that type. Various other salads and dishes as well. A Festive Atmosphere . You want something special try it , you'll like it Yummy at its best!

great pizza, eaten there a couple of times, keep going back.

Best pizza joint in town. If you dig Chicago style deep dish, there can be only one...Star.

Great pizza. Tasty salads. Everything is fresh with quality ingredients. The crust tends to be a bit thick... They don't serve a cracker crust variety here. We usually order the whole wheat New York style crust. Family friendly.

We visited Star Pizza on a Friday night and got there around 5 pm, so it was not crowded. The server was helpful with ordering but not particularly friendly. When we requested to be moved to a bigger table, as we were literally the only people on the entire side of the restaurant, she said the tables were generally reserved for larger groups and very reluctantly moved us. We had to ask for drink refills of water and were not really taken care of. We ordered our food, all four of us opting for pizza. The pizza took approximately 60 minutes to be brought to the table, which seems quite lengthy to me considering the place was less than 1/4 full when we arrived, actually rather empty. The ingredients seemed very fresh and the crust and toppings were generally flavorful, so a typical marinara, which was not present on some of our pizzas, really wasn't missed. However the texture and consistency of the dough was undesirable. The dough was undercooked on our Chicago style pizzas. It was soggy and couldn't stand up to the toppings. This was true of both white and wheat. This greatly detracted from the overall edibleness of the pizzas. I give the pizza 3 stars only because other members of the party liked it, though one commented that it was way too chewy and wished he had ordered NY style . Personally, I give the pizza 1 star. Dough is too important to be messed up. I don't recommend this place unless you really want fresh ingredients. If you care about how your dough tastes, you probably won't prefer this place. I suggest BJ's Brewhouse instead. Ingredients are not as fresh, but the dough is decent and you can order a pizookie!

The pizza here is great.. we always stop there when in the area, We have have the deep dish and thin crust, but prefer the thin crust.. LOTS of cheese. great price.

Best pizza in the H! Fresh ingredients, unique pizzas, and delicious crust (whole wheat or white) mmmm

All pizzas are good but the thin crust garlic pizza with the works is outstanding. Crazy atmosphere in the old house. It works.

The crust is fantastic-- I think the name of the one I usually get is called the Frank's (??) anyhow, lots of spinach and garlic. Service here is slow, but it always has been and I'm guessing that's mainly because it is always just packed.

My son and I really enjoy the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant. Both locations are comparable and great. We are making it a habit to stop and eat at Star everyone we visit the Houston area.

Yummy! Takes kind of long to get your food though.

First time I ate this pizza, we ordered a half pineapple and half veggie, and it just blew our mind. The second time we went to eat to the place and it is just one of those places you really enjoy to be at and eat. It is and old vintage place, which has been ran by their owners who try to keep it old-fashioned with little changes, it looks old but cozy. And the pizza omgggg it is just something, please try it if you are in the area. And cherry on top, the good prices.

Great deep dish pizza!

Star pizza is my go to pizza joint since its close to the heights. This is the only pizza that doesn't hurt my tummy. The cheese is perfect & not too gooey & I love that they use fresh ingredients and make everything from scratch. I always order pepperoni, bell pepper & onion. You can't go wrong with an old school pepperoni pizza at Star.

We unfortunately wasted or money at the Washington location. I can't understand or even believe they have the awards that they do. Not wroth it at all. No flavor on my build your own focaccia pizza. Thank God for the, unbeknownst to us, $1.25 each for a spoonful of the ranch dip, we got 2. The server should have told us when we asked for it, how much it was. When I mentioned it to her, when we received the bill, her answer was you pay for everything on the menu. The Bens pizza faired slightly better, not saying a whole lot. The roasted garlic appetizer, which was highly recommended by our server, was disgusting! My family ate it, not me, because they were so hungry. NEVER GOING BACK!

I love Star Pizza. Amazing food and good service. We eat here 1-2x a month. It's always hot and ready for pick up. Delivery service is great too. Be sure to ask for cheese/peppers when you order if you get delivery. Sometimes the drivers don't have it if you don't ask for it.

The tastiest pizza I've ever had!

Ordered a cheese-sausage-mushroom-onion deep dish for delivery. Pizza arrived early, which is great, but it was nearly ice-cold and soggy in the middle. Very bland taste...added salt, pepper and dried garlic for a boost but still bland. We've eaten plenty of pizzas from Star, not sure why this was so terrible. It will be a long-long time before we order again. They need to change up some recipes or get a new cook.

We have been here twice in recent months and will come back again the next time we’re in the area. The Cowbell is a brisket pizza with BBQ sauce and two kinds of cheese. It’s unique and delicious! We come when the weather is nice, sit on the patio with a glass of wine and enjoy. Always a treat!

I took my boyfriend to eat at Star Pizza...I had been several times and was very pleased with it, but he was skeptical. We ordered a pizza with Chicken, Roasted Garlic, Spinach, and Bacon. That was seriously the best pizza we ever ate. I previously ordered a pizza with canadian bacon and avocados, and it comes in a close 2nd. yum yum yum! AWESOME!!!

A recent 4 day weekend in Houston, haunting museums...we needed real sustenance...PIZZA. Had researched Trip Advisor and found this Star rated well. STAR restores my faith in these ratings....it is TOP notch start to finish.....huge menu, so you can get cannaloni, lasagna, and great sausage. Pizza by the slice too.....SUPER FIND! We have yet to find great pizza in Austin and Dallas (when we lived there 10 years ago) had few and far between....so this was beyond a real treat......great pizza at a fair price with a good selection of wines, beers, and sodas to accompany. The salad was large and good too.

My favorite pizza place in Houston! It's best as a carry-out or delivery. Sometimes the service in the restaurant is slow. The salads are nothing special, but the deep dish pizza is great.

Really delicious and fresh pizza. The cheese doesn't taste like that processed stuff. I also like the option for either white our wheat bread crust. I drove from Newcastle Drive because I found this place on the T.A. and it was definitely worth the drive! :)

This restaurant has the most authentic Chicago style pizza in the South!

Fresh ingredients, Best Pizza in Houston! Deep Dish non greasy pizza with fresh veggies. The taste can't be beat. It's Pizza Heaven. Remember to allow 30 minutes for the cooking of deep dish pizza. Please put one in Katy or Sugar Land! I can only enjoy when I am in the city,

Great pizza - try the different crusts they offer

I have been to Star Pizza (2 locations either here or at 2111 Norfolk, Houston, TX 77098) many times. It's is the place to go for excellent, fresh, hand thrown pizza. Many varieties / toppings, and the menu is augmented with a selection of delicious salads. My favorite is the Greek Salad. They also serve sandwiches. The serving sizes are more than "generous." If a party of 2 each orders a salad, go for the small pizza to share or order the individual size pizzas. They also have a good selection of craft beers from several local brewers, if your have an interest in them.

Star Pizza is everything that a great pizza joint should be. The place is simply decorated and can get loud when it's crowded but the service is always excellent and the food is fantastic. They make great pizzas, of course, but they also offer wonderful sandwiches and exceptional salads. (The spinach salad is my favorite.) The menu offers enough variety to please everyone. They can accommodate large groups ( a call ahead helps!) and they also offer outdoor seating on a very nice covered patio. Star Pizza never disappoints!

Stopped in this pizza place with several family members. Friendly and attentive staff. Good prices and fairly good menu selection. Food was good and served hot.

The margherita pizza is awesome.

Get the wheat crust deep dish starburst. Fantastic!

Fabulous pizza, lots of unique toppings. Houston institution in a wonderful setting.

Good crusty deep dish!

Great specialty pizza's. Average pasta dishes. Noisy but fun.

They have a good buffet for lunch which is why I end up here sometimes. It's close to work and easy to get to. The food is above average and reasonably priced.

I saw this place on Texas Country Reporter a couple months ago and had a chance to get there this weekend. Place is cozy and tucked away and was jam packed. The lasagne and pizza where good, pizza could have could for 5 minutes more but the where in the weeds so... Waiter was very courteous and on point even though they were very busy, good enough in fact that we tipped 30%. I will go back there next time I visit, it makes having to be in Houston a welcome relief.

We are regulars at Star - at least twice a month if not every Friday night. Quality ingredients and consistent great pizza.

Husband & I decided to try it out after reading reviews. We were not disappointed! Will definitely return even with the hour long drive.

I do not like anything about their pizzas

We had gone to church downtown for Christmas Eve, and decided to look for somewhere to grab a bite. The restaurant was open, and had a few patrons, though it closed in an hour. We were welcomed in,never rushed, and really enjoyed our food. The restaurant is in an old home, and very cozy and casual. We had the best caprese salad we have had, in a long time. Pizza was hot and fresh, generous toppings! We took about half our pizza home, and it was great, warmed up, 2 days later. We look forward to going back; good value, great food, and very nice waitstaff!
Great pizza and it's not a chain
Yes, they have more than one location in town, but you get fresh, consistent food without the 'cookie cutter/big box' experience. Delivery or dine-in, the food is always great, especially the margarita pizza.
