Delicious Meat Pies!!

By T D |

We read about this British Bakery online and had to try it out. Bakery is small and charming. They had the Premier League on - so we get to enjoy it (even though I'm more a Bundesliga fan). The Pies were delicious! The Mashed Potatoes with the Parley sauce is exquisite! The Vegetarian option (changes daily - this time, it was filled with mushroom and cheese) and the Traditional Beef and Onion Pie is so tasty! They have a few tables, so you can enjoy right there. Definitely worth trying out if you're on East Passyunk Ave.

Delicious 😍

Stargazy has become one of my favorite quick meal options on East Passyunk. The pies are always hearty, filling & delicious. You can’t go wrong with the mash & liquor too!

teeny place but WOW

By Barbara G |

Don't walk, RUN to get a bite of the wonderful beef and onion meat pie (YUM) or the Sausage and Cheese Tart (Also YUM). The guys next to us got a 'pie and mash' (the pie with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy--looked amazing! ) Next time we are in town we will put this on out list of MUST return to places.

Small But Mighty

By pookala |

It's a teeny tiny cafe with maybe 10(?) seats total and the menu is relatively small, but don't be daunted by the lack of seating. Get something to go and window shop along the street. Stargazy serves up some of the best food on East Passyunk Avenue. Flavorful savory pies, sausage rolls, Cornish pasties make for a satisfying breakfast/lunch. All served by a warm, funny, down to earth staff. Just stepping in the door makes me happy. And please please please be sure to save room for one of their fruit pies. The apple is aces!

What a find! Best Brit pies ever

By breggie |

“Hole in the wall” expression was invented by this place. Inexpensive, freshly made creative savory pies of all types, feels Like I am In Mousehole, Cornwall, Britain where all this started with their invention of the little fish pie with its eyes peeping out looking up at the stars , the theory being the oils Slid back into the pie as it cooked, by gravity. Oh- the owner is a Trip! A chef with a design!!

Excellent varied pastries

Large variety of meat, vegetable, fruit, cheese pastries. Wonderfully flaky. Highest quality. Mostly takeout but a few small tables.

Amazing Beef Wellington

By William D |

I was looking all over for a place to get beef wellington for my girlfriends birthday, since it's her favorite meal without having to drive to Ramsays in AC. Stumbled across Stargazy, and after a few emails ordered some for pickup to heat for dinner. Sam was great in service, instructions on how to do it. My girlfriend ranked it among the best she's ever had, and she's quite the foodie so it's high praise from her. Also bought clangers and a bunch of things, including the toffee pudding. All was amazingly good, will be back!

Tasty meat pies!

Great food with a variety of different choices. The staff is friendly and I've had many different types of meat, shrimp, fruit and neat snacks and drinks from England.

Quirky British Cafe

By Nigel G |

This is a tiny cafe serving homemade English meat (and veggie) pies and mash. There is seating for 8 people, but many customers come for take-outs. You can see the pies being hand made on the premises. We had beef and onion pies, served with mashed potatoes and parsley liquor. Delicious for a visiting Brit or anyone with an interest in real food: and for a number of local people calling to collect pies to take home. There is a small supply of other British food products to buy, but the pies are the main feature. We took home some proper sausages rolls and a beautiful Cornish pasty to eat for our supper. There is street parking outside, but the shop front is really tiny and could be easily missed. But if you want a bit of fun, novelty and to visit and old English pie shop, this is a must.

Starstruck

We tried the beef and onion meat pie, sausage roll, pineapple and curry lamb Bedfordshire british clanger, and millionaire's shortbread. Everything was delicious! So glad to have found a great British spot - definitely want to come back!

Run by an Awesome Team

My wife and I went to their Robert Burns night and had a fabulous time, the staff were beyond incredible, and the food was fantastic. My wife is from Scotland, and we are SO grateful to have a place like this in Philadelphia. Go and try and Irn Bru and a sausage roll ASAP!

Excellent pies and mash.

Stopped by the other day for the first time and so glad I had. Small place with a few tables. Largely for take away. Ordered some pies and mash and they were excellent. I can not wait till the next time.

Tiny but tasty

Our group was walking up Passyunk on our way to BingBing DimSum when we passed Stargazy. The aroma coming out the door was so amazing, that we stopped in and split a pie with mashed potatoes. They were offering free Lagunitas beer, which was great to wash down the goodness. Really really tiny and funky, with tons of Brit decor, soccer on the telly, etc. If we lived in Philly, we would be here often.

English Pie and Mash, Clangers and sweets

By coffeeguycr |

This little hole in the wall restaurant serves up the best Treats this side of the Pond. With a changing selection of Pie's along with the traditional parsley gravy this place is a slice of England. English soda's and biscuit's are available. The Tea, Gratis. wonderful staff and a lucky patron can win their pie if there is a star on the bottom. check board for details. FootBall matches play on the TV while you enjoy your meal.

Unique Take-Out

By Karen S |

First time trying Stargazy, everyone enjoyed what they got, including the traditional, the chicken, or the vegetable pies. I had the chicken meat pie which was tender enough to cut with a fork. The banofee tart was quite good, I liked the tart shell that it was on. Foods were well packaged so that hot food items were still hot when they made it home. Next time I want to try the sticky toffee pudding.

Awesome Pies!

Loved this place they do so really amazing Pies, with delicious meats and onions, and love the mash potato. For dessert here I had the Sticky Toffee pudding with Ice Cream, really delicious.

Norwich in Philly

Stumbled into Stargazy upon the recommendation of Mikes BBQ a stones throw away. Clanger, Cheese Patsy, Sausage roll, Scottish egg, and duck sausages all solid. They even do coin tricks in the store while you wait.

A British chef comes to South Philly

By ANNAMARGARET B |

If the lines at Pat's or Geno's are too long, head down to the new kid on the block at Stargazy. Originally from Great Britain, after cooking in Philly for ten years, the chef-owner brings a bit of home to Passyunk with meat pies, sausage rolls, and flaky pastries and tarts. Everything is made fresh daily and may sell out before the café closes at 7. Mainly a lunch place, if you call ahead or email you can have something set aside for you for dinner pickup. The meat pies were melt-in-your mouth and the sticky toffee pudding and banafee tart were wonderful. While we were eating a blues band set up across the street for more Stargazy serendipity. Bring your beer and watch your soccer here!

Something Different

By Patricia J |

We are always looking for something different to try and we found Stargazy in one of the tourist books we picked up. We looked them up on Facebook and found the menu. It was a very small place with maybe 4-5 small tables but the food was different and tasty. They had meat pasties, beef pie, a savory tart, mashed potatoes with a parsley broth that was very good. The guys were super nice and chatty. Can be very easily missed on the street but worth looking for.
