Their pork chop was amazing! Good place to celebrate our 37 th anniversary! Was a bit loud, but it was fun.

Since we were visiting this restaurant for the first time, we made reservations to ensure a seat without a wait; and, we were seated promptly. The ambiance is really nice, very comfortable, not stuffy and not too noisy, and we soon found that the surroundings would be as comforting as we later found the food to be! We had a delightful experience! Before detailing the food, a comment must be made regarding the service. Water is brought to the table in a carafe without requesting it. It's nice that we weren't asked whether we wanted tap or bottled waiter, with the waiter rolling his eyes as they do in some restaurants if we would have requested tap water. Throughout the meal, the waitstaff was attentive. In fact, even if another waiter saw an empty dish or plate, it would be removed. A floor manager (I asked his name and it was Shawn) even made his rounds throughout the restaurant, always looking like he was on top of issues, even small ones like personally filling my tea glass. I liked that our waiter presented us with the drink menu when we were first seated and related that it was a few minutes before happy hour would be over, and gave us the option of ordering off of the discounted HH drink menu. Again, we have experienced other restaurants that have related that we were one or two minutes too late to get HH prices. I ordered the "Laurie's Old Fashioned" drink...something I likely wouldn't have ordered had it not been on the HH menu. What a great tasting drink...bourbon infused with apricot, orange, turbinado, and ???. I asked our waiter, Robert, why it is called that and he said it was because that is the general managers name. In fact, she later stopped by the table, and we complemented her on the drink. She easily tempted us to later try a dessert, "Laurie's ice cream", which she said is just like the drink, and made by their own creamery. Although I am getting ahead of myself, we did try it later and it was delicious! Now the food: we wanted seafood, so we tried the crab hush puppies. Crisp, hot, and served with a homemade remoulade sauce. The two of us split an Italian chopped salad. Perfectly prepared and not drowning in salad dressing, just the proper amount, and split in the kitchen so we wouldn't have to awkwardly do it at the table. I ordered the fried East Bay oysters. They came with fries, but they readily substituted roasted asparagus. The wife had the combo fried shrimp and fried oysters with the fries, and they were filling and ever so good. The seafood came with four dipping sauces. This is the perfect restaurant for most occasions, date night, after-work gatherings, family meals, or special occasions. We plan to return for more really good food, perhaps trying a steak next time, and we are glad that we found this restaurant!

We loved this place!!! They have outdoor seating and great service, but the food was the star! We had the Purist Mac ‘n Cheese with Gulf Trash, which was creamy and so good, and Pesto Grilled Cheese. For the latter, we asked the waiter what was the best side they had. He said the Whiskey Glazed Brussels. We immediately laughed out loud, because we both DESPISE brussles sprouts. Cannot even put into words how much we hate the vile bitter little bulbs. He went to great lengths to coax us into getting them, so we relented. He promised he would exchange them for a different side if we did not like them. It was not necessary. They were AMAZING! Sweet and savory at the same time and drenched in a delectable sauce that nearly completely masked the bitter taste of the actual sprouts. We were gobsmacked. The food was all so good that we discussed coming back before the end of our trip (that is something we NEVER do. We plan the whole trip around the meals and attempt to try as many different restaurants as we can in each city). We also tried two of their non-alcoholic drinks, of which they had a wide variety. I don't remember the names, but they were very unique as well.

First time visit, initial impressions were good as the place looked nice. But found the food average and on the high side price wise, mine arrived lukewarm Service was slow albeit friendly, this was when the place wasn't that busy. Will try it again at some point but will give it a while.

Menu has a nice variety of sandwiches, burgers, salads, platters, and desserts that are of southern flare, with a slight twist of modernization thus a little higher price tag. We had the fried catfish platter and the Hot Fried Chicken (minus the HOT). Service was attentive, food was delivered in reasonable time, was delish! Hot Fried Chicken came with butternut squash & brussel spouts, cooked and seasoned just right. It's a good size portion. The fried catfish was done spot on and served with hush puppies (tasty) and french fries (really pretty darn good for fries). The Guacamole dip was wonderful (and I don't like guac or avocados) though the chips were stale. The restaurant is in a strip center facing I-10 in front of Memorial City Hospital, nice decor, modern, but very noisy, music was too loud, and while the crowd built up while we were there, it didn't appear cramped. They offer free value parking. This was a nice find (via open table) and would recommend and likely be back on a future trip to Houston.

What a wonderful meal and atmosphere. First time going and will definitely be back. Had the pork chops and the jalapeño hush puppies—it was all very delicious and the food spoke for itself. No heavy sauces or creams to smother the dood, the natural flavors complimented with the right seasoning. Very healthy portions and a great price point.

Food served ice cold. Very crowded and very loud. Food served almost immediately after it was ordered. We commented on that. It could not have been prepared after we ordered it . Even had it been warm I am not sure it would have been good. Chicken fried steak was awful. I will never return. I wrote similar review yesterday but it was not published on trip advisor. I do not know why. If it was published then delete this. Our server was attentive. He did not deliver the food. It is clearly a chain restaurant.

Mid week at around 6pm. We found it very noisy and asked to be moved to a booth by the window which was better but this really ( on this experience) isn't the place to go to for any kind of quiet or intimate conversation. Menu was better than average for a reasonable price. Had the shrimp Louie salad which was great. Saw some burgers at other tables which looked huge - good if that's your thing. Wine was $10-15 a glass and ok but not exceptional. Couple of the cocktails were good though Service was good They have seating at the bar and some tables at the back which you can stand around to drink/ eat

Went for lunch, first time here...WILL BE BACK! Food was fresh, delicious and the menu was excellent! Hope to come back for happy hour!

A bit hard to find, State Fare is along the eastbound I-10 feeder, between the hospital and the hotel. Very much worth it. Although we weren't there for a full meal, we were impressed with our food and service. It might well get louder after work, but late afternoon was a great time. Happy hour starts at 3, netting me a nice glass of prosecco for $6. My friend had gumbo and I had tortilla soup, both delicious, with excellent presentations. The only reason I hesitate to give it five stars is simply because we didn't sample enough of the food for a definitive opinion. Try it.

We planned to eat at another restaurant, but the wait was crazy! So we drove aimlessly checking reviews, and happened across this place. No wait at all. The ribeye is smoked before the cook it. Best steak I've ever eaten! The seafood platter was also delicious, including the tarter sauce and coleslaw! And our waiter, Jose, was fun, interesting, and johnny on the spot! We'll definitely go back!

Staying near by, we lacked the motivation to drive anywhere, and thought we were “settling” for just the options nearby. We could not have been more pleased, especially with our exceptional and simply wonderful waiter, Terrance. Even if this place was mediocre, we’d return for Terrance. But the fact that the food is delicious helps make this one of our favorites in Houston.

I’m a regular at this location and I love coming here not only because of the great happy hour but also for the atmosphere and great hospitality. When I come here I go to the bar area for ALL DAY happy hour and Yara always makes sure I’m being well taken care of. Definitely a 10 out of 10 ! She’s the best!

Lagniappe (lan-YAP) means a little something extra. In Texas, everything is bigger, so Texas Lagniappe is A Lot of Something Extra! While the prices seem a little high, it is in part due to the portions in my opinion. They are huge! Consider Splitting. The food is fresh and has a wonderful presentation. This is a great place for couples or friends, but consider sharing. There is a children's menu, but I wouldn't necessarily call this kid friendly. The menu is southwest, Texas and gulf coast. There are a wide samplings of burgers, salads, and starters. The atmosphere is clean and what I would describe as "Texas Modern" ...rustic with a modern flare. There are booths, open tables, ample bar space and patio dining.

I was in town from San Diego. State Fare was a stone' throw away from my hotel. I ordered Crab Cakes. I was amazed how delicious they were. Customer service was spectacular.

Went here last night on a couples date night. The food was good. Good margaritas with a spicy twist. The salmon was very good

I recently came here for a birthday celebration. I love the set up and atmosphere. The staff were great and most importantly, the food was wonderful. I had the mac daddy and cheese (mac & cheese with short ribs). It was even better the second day! I also had an old fashioned. Honestly one of the best I've ever had. It was so good, I had a second. I'll certainly make my way back to this great place.

We were a party of 9 celebrating a birthday. It was was the first time for some of us here including me. We told our server that we had show tickets at 730p and some of us had to be out of there by 645p. We were sat right before 5p. Two stars because the appetizers we had were pretty good, the crab cakes I had were OK. One star for service. The rice that came with the crab cakes were sent back because it tasted pretty "strong"with the spices they used. Where the evening went wrong was towards the end. Our server (let's call him "D") dropped the ball several times which got me very frustrated as well as the birthday girl. We couldn't find him for stretches of time and had to ask for other servers to call him over. We had to ask for certain things several times because he kept forgetting. Around 620p we ask for our check because we had to go in order to make our show. I asked "D" earlier in the evening if they did anything special for birthdays and he said they would bring a dessert out for the bday girl. At this point they still have not brought out the dessert so we can sing happy birthday. After about 15 mintues the birthday girl and my husband start looking at their watches saying we had to leave to make our show. We are looking around for "D" with no luck. When he FINALLY brought the bills for our entire table around 650p my bill was totally wrong. He added several items that weren't mine on my bill. Knowing we were in an extreme time crunch, most servers in better dining establishments would wait for payment and process it right away so we could be on our way. I tried to turn around to let him know my bill was wrong but he had already gone to the table next to us. Not knowing this I turned around to try to catch him before he left so I yell out his name "D" and with the utmost attitude he turned around and said "Excuse me!?" like we were inconveniencing him. So unprofessional! He couldn't have cared less about our situation even though we kept on reminding him throughout the evening. He could've asked another server or manager to help out if he was busy but instead he made us wait another 10-15 minutes so he could fix our bill. At this point we still had not sung to the birthday girl because no dessert. FINALLY around 7pm, someone brings out her dessert and we sing to the birthday girl. We were so flustered at this point thinking we would miss our show that the bday girl couldn't enjoy the moment. It was a S*** show at the end of the evening and our server didn't have a sense of urgency to help us out. It really made our first experience at this restaurant sour. We finally left the restaurant around 710p and drove erratically to barely make the show. We will never be back here with all the OTHER amazing restaurants in Houston with excellent attentive service. This was not one of these places from what we experienced.

Nice southwestern decor, reminiscent of their sister restaurant, Liberty Kitchen. Lots of food choices and a nice drink menu. Comfy booths and tables. Our service was a little off during our visit and that did affect my overall enjoyment. I didn't like the deviled egg appetizer as much as the Liberty Kitchen ones and I thought the avocado ones were really not very good. However, our entrees were quite good (once they were corrected) although I thought the crab cake entree portion was a bit stingy. My son loved the Mac Daddy, mac and cheese with beef rib, but again, $20 for mac and cheese with a very small portion of meat on the top seemed a little high. One thing they did as well as LK was the sides! These are so delicious, I often order them as my entree. The butternut squash with Brussels sprouts and bacon marmalade was AMAZING!!! (saved the night for me) The chili cheese fries are a "must" as is the gumbo (same as Liberty Kitchen) -- always delicious, some of the best in town. My husband had Ray's Fried Catfish and said it was some of the flakiest & best he'd ever had. The hush puppies were delicious. We didn't really care for the cake shake -- it was very watery and we hardly ate any of it. Although, the key lime pie was DIVINE! I would definitely give them another try, but as you can tell, I do like Liberty Kitchen a bit better.

This is a great place for some Southern food. The menu is fun and inventive. The Mac & cheese is awesome. Nice selection of salads and sandwiches for every diet. When this place is super busy it’s difficult to hear conversations, because of all the metal decor. The patio is a better place to talk than inside.

We were a larger group that game in early evening for dinner. Unfortunately they were not able to seat us unless we ate outside. We were luck that the sun had set and there was a mild breeze. The service what friendly and attentive enough. The food was prompt and very good. The have great deviled eggs. The brussel sprouts were awesome too. Seems like a nice restaurant inside as well. There was also free parking in the garage next door.

Will have to say this place was not my choice and had heard mixed reviews. Most complaints I had heard was about service.... I thought the atmosphere was nice.Seemed like everyone there were enjoying their experience.? The service was timely and had no issues...As for as the food..Our group ordered different fare..Chicken fried steak, pasta dish, hamburger, shrimp salad, childs chicken strips, and gumbo....Everyone said their food was good, except for gumbo...My wife and someone else ordered gumbo and both were disappointed. I traded half way though with my wife and here is my take...The roux was ok but the sauage, chicken, crabe etc all were over cooked..Really was not a pleasant taste..So this is a mixed review...Food is overpriced but most of their food is pretty good..Would never recommend the gumbo but the other food we tried wad ok...

My son loved his MacDaddy mac & cheese and my salad was good but mostly lettuce - yet desserts was a giant carrot cake - you won't leave hungry and lovely ambience

The food is above average especially the hot fried chicken. Interesting menu very appetizing. The day we went the service was slow. Like an hour wait for the food to come out slow. The server was friendly enough but the kitchen was way behind and it wasn’t that busy. We actually got our food before the 6 top next to us who were storing around waiting when we were seated. The manager did apologize and checked on us after the food showed up. Could be just an off day. Obviously a salad shouldn’t take that long.

We went here a while back and really enjoyed it. Last time we had trouble parking whereas this time we parked right out front. Service was very good, polite, and friendly. The food wasn't as good as last time. The kitchen forgot our appetizer, and my main meal was a mixture of hot and lukewarm food.

I loved all the unique food choices. There were traditional Texas dishes with Asian and Mexican mixed in which really captures the spirit of Houston. They had real lemonade with refills, loved it. Frito Pie. Cheesy potatoes and cauliflower that was delicious. Service was great, spunky. Prices are good for what you get but on the higher side. Parking is limited out front. Atmosphere was new and clean with a rustic style. It is a great place to visit while in Houston or for a fun occasion.

My wife and I were on a "furniture mission" and planned to stop at State Fair for brunch/lunch. It was about 1:30pm on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was mostly full and we decided to sit at the bar, which we do a great deal of the time, because we can talk and hear each other much easier. The staff was quick, friendly and attentive. My wife ordered crab cake Benedict and I ordered Shrimp. My wife totally enjoyed her crab cake Benedict and especially the fresh hand made hash brown potatoes. My shrimp was perfect and the portion sizes were huge. We love the atmosphere and the menu is different, dynamic and provides a wide variety of choices for any taste preference. We wish we lived closer, (live in The Woodlands) so we could visit on a more regular basis. You cannot go wrong at State Fair.

Creative menu that gives a twist to the local flavor. Great margaritas. Would definitely return on my next visit to Houston.

I just love the burgers the are AWSOME and it comes with a cookie ;) (The above Review from my 11 y.o.) I come here a lot for biz lunch. Great food. Great value. Great service.

The dill pickle dip served with homemade BBQ chips is the bomb!! So addictive you can't stop eating it. I thought the italian chopped salad was just so so. Needed something and I'm not sure what. The herb vinagrette was good.

The food was excellent and our server was very friendly. My family member got the braised short rib, very tender and so yummy. I got the fried chicken sandwich and it was really great and comes ona yummy bun and their version of a Big Mac "secret sauce" that tastes really great. For dessert we were given fried Oreos and they were the BEST part of the meal (we love Oreos!) One of the managers, Ady, was very personable and came by our table frequently to make sure all was well. He also personally brought me my beverage and a re-make when it didn't taste as I'd expected it to. Great food, service, and ambiance.

First time visit and was impressed by quality and quantity of food. The dill dip and fresh chips were tasty. Fried oysters were very good. The H-town Hot Chicken could have been a little more to be more like Hot Chicken in Nashville. Service was superior.

Slow service, awful State Fair Cheeseburger and even worse Veggie Burger. Only redeaming quality was the build out. Definately not worth an almost. $40 tab. Based on the outstanding reviews my wife and tried State Fair. Our server was average. The food really bad. Despite both of us being very hungry, neither of us could get past 1/2 the burgers. Meat was dry and over cooked. The veggie burger taste like mushy beans. When I asked the server were all burgers cooked this way he told me yes. When I showed him it was cooked incorrectly he just shrugged his shoulders. If you want over priced less than standard burgers, State Fair is definately your place. Safe Travels

A chef-created menu with twists on old favorites highlights whatever you may want: fried chicken (Nashville Hot, check), chicken fried ribeye (great value), homemade crab cakes. The cocktails truly are worth your time--- well crafted and thought out. Try the Sangia Rita. The only issue is... the noise level. The décor is marble and tin which creates acoustics like a high school bathroom. The area around the bar is quieter. I ordered a bottle of wine but the server did not hear me so... not a first date kinda place but otherwise great. It reminds me of Hash Hash A Go Go in Vegas. This place would be killer for brunch.

Had lunch here with a client and it was very good. Excellent service and good menu. A little noisy but still a good place for a business lunch.

We chose this place to have dinner for a company outing after some meetings. The location is great and they had everything set up and ready to go when we got there. The Staff was friendly and helpful and our waitress was on top of everything. Everything from the appetizers to the meals was very good. Definitely a place we would go again.

We are foodies. I keep a list and try new restaurants every weekend. State Fare is my top 3 favorite burgers in Houston. They also have an XXL pancake and mimosa flights that are fun for brunch. Their menu is great, something for everyone. Recommend: Going early to secure parking.

My sister and I had been wanting to try this restaurant and did so last night. We got there about 8 pm and they weren't very busy. We were not in a hurry, but even so, the service was very slow. I was somewhat shocked when I saw the prices of their hamburgers. The cheapest "plain ole burger" was $16.00 and the prices went up from there. Well, that's what we ordered and when they came, my sis had to send hers back. She had ordered it with no mayo and it came with (she's allergic). Anyway, when hers came back, mine was cold (since I waited). The burger was pretty good, but the french fries tasted like they had been cooked in "old" oil. Also, there was very loud music playing which was disturbing while trying to have a conversation. Maybe this place is better during the day. I wouldn't go back at night.

I love a good burger and I love anyplace that serves a large selection of craft beer. Add other menu items that the family will love and you have a restaurant that agrees with us all. A good example is State Fare Kitchen and Bar. State Fare Kitchen and Bar is located next door to Memorial City Mall and it is one of countless restaurants in the immediate area. I have visited here a couple of times to check out the beer selection, grab a bite to eat, and watch sports. State Fare offers a nice size interior with two sections and an outdoor patio. The inside looks inviting; casual, but a notch toward the more elegant side. With food, State Fare Kitchen and Bar serves up burgers plus other assorted foods like steak, pork chops, mac and cheese, salads, etc. I have usually selected a burger when I have dined here and, as my pictures show, some of these burgers are quite large and may require cutting them up in order to eat. The burgers have been generally good; my only wish is that they seasoned the beef a little more. But I still like them and the abundance of toppings adds to their appeal, both taste- wise and visually. Beer is a good reason to visit State Fare Kitchen and Bar and I like how they often serve beers that I cannot find elsewhere. On my most recent visit, for example, I was able to get my lips around a white Russian stout, brewed by Brash Brewing, a Houston area brewer. This, alone, made my visit worthwhile as it was a difficult to find beer and lip- smacking delicious. There are so many taps and canned/bottled selections that you are all but guaranteed of finding something new to try. So far, so good at State Fare Kitchen and Bar. However, there is one problem that convinces me to cut my rating and that is the inconsistency of this service. My last visit was no different. We found ourselves sitting there, waiting and waiting to get our drinks. We then waited and waited even longer to get the waitress to come back and take our order. Once we finally got served our dinner, it was 50 minutes after we were seated. We visited here with friends and they, too, were a little surprised by the slowness. The situation was even more puzzling when you consider that the place was pretty much empty when we visited. There were maybe 30 guests total at the time. Burgers and beer are an almost guaranteed recipe for success in my book. State Fare Kitchen and Bar does score high marks for its burgers and beer selection, but it also loses points for shoddy service and this has happened more than once. I’m still going to give State Fare Kitchen and Bar a small recommendation for the reasons stated, but beware of service issues, as they could put a damper on your experience.

Good service and good food. The portions are large so you will definitely leave full. It’s close to a nice mall so you can walk your food off after.

I thought it would be a poor attempt to pass greasy fried fare food as good. It was not! Although, we thought it would be cool to do something like that, like a fusion/twist on funnel cake, that would be amazing! Awesome decor and ambience. We will most definitely going back to try more items. Our server, Leo, was great and knowledgeable. Casual attire. Average to moderately priced. We had, and I highly recommended the mocktails, The Jackalope & Madame Blueberry, $4. The hicks burger which had hot pastrami, grilled onions, gruyere cheese, and chicken fried fries, and Lee's burger sauce. I didn't like it but my husband did. It tasted like a frozen patty to me. The individual items on were not good alone. The items needed to be put together as it's listed to taste ok/good. Not really flavorful or seasoned. The chili cheese fries are a MUST! The portions are huge! We were able to share and have some leftovers. We did enjoy the European style service of the water too. Also, they will be opening for Sunday brunch in a couple of months.

I hosted a business meal the other night at State Fare and was very embarrassed with the horrible service, lack luster food and bad wine. The service was the worst part about the place. When we arrived the first think that happened was our server killed on of the many flies around our table with his serving tray.. it went down hill from that point on. While all pleasant, no one was attentive and we just did without. Delivery of food was slow so much so that we decided to go elsewhere for desert. The wine list is not good at all and what they do have, is very overpriced for the quality. The food was lack luster. I had the tuna and it was tasteless. My associate had the chicken fried ribeye which was fair at best. My guest was so unimpressed with the meal, he mentioned it to my team the next day at our meetings. This did not go over well for me to say the least..

The salads here are the best tasting, not necessarily the biggest but they will fill you up and you won't feel guilty afterwards. The grilled chicken is not dry nor does it taste like cardboard like most places. Great for lunch but a little bit noisy.

State Fare was a solid brunch spot for kids. We came with family. The portions are massive. Large menu. Food itself is fine to average. The gumbo wasn’t great. Pancakes were enormous.

Made a reservation before hand, but had to wait 30 minutes to be seated...and due to COVID-19 was requested that we wait outside in the heat!?! The waitstaff were nice and the food was excellent. Overall it was worth the wait (but not the heat) as every bite of our meal was delicious.

Our family Christmas tradition is to eat at State Fare on Christmas Eve before our church service. We have so much fun! The staff is wonderful, the food is fabulous! Always order the deviled eggs for an appetizer! Some of us had brunch (which is not always on the menu), some had lunch -- and honestly, no one had room for dessert! I wish we had because it would have been amazing! We will be back next year - and maybe before then!

Very good food and friendly staff. It was a bit noisy, but bearable. Great selection of beer on tap. The portions are large, so don't be greedy.

Left this restaurant in a state of enjoyment... Ok not the best grammar BUT, yes I was happy when I left as the food and drink were utterly enjoyable. My cocktail of choice was the State Fare Margarita... a great craft margarita with the spicy finish. Loved it. Next up was the State Fried Chicken with the butternut squash and brussel sprouts that I happily retrieved from under the two generous portions of fried chicken. Vegetable bliss! The only negative was a high volume level in the entire restaurant.

We went midafternoon on a Sunday. We liked the menu. We hated the noise, which was nearly overwhelming. We couldn't hear each other , nor the server. Food was really good. My husband had the fried seafood platter and loved it. I had the crab cakes, which were excellent, and so much food, I couldn't eat it all. It is 3 small, perfect cakes. Our server was really good and very efficient and attentive, even though very busy. It there is a time that isn't so awfully noisy, we would definitely return for the food.

went with a group of friends for lunch. I got the burger but I tried the gumbo and the green salad, all of what I tried was very well done. The place has a cool vibe and great deco. The menu is limited but good and simple. I will be back, i want to try their fancy mac and cheese dishes

This restaurant looks good. It is a chic, trendy bistro that promises to be a great place to eat. I made a reservation to meet a childhood friend while I was in the Houston/Sugarland area. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by the hostess and seated immediately. However, the hostess must not have told the server we were there because it took so long that we had to ask another server to find someone to take our order. My biggest criticism of this restaurant is the menu is too eclectic. This is a restaurant that hasn't figured out its niche. I am an adventuresome eater but I like menus that define the restaurant. Poached eggs on Crab Cakes and Crawfish Creole Benefit, both breakfast options, sound yummy but if you have a shell fish allergy, there is no Eggs Benedict option. This isn't a seafood restaurant so why not have one non shellfish option? I asked for poached eggs on toast which is from the, "eggs any style," option. I got two over-poached eggs in a bowl with toast on the side. Since I added two sausage, my breakfast was an a al carte order. You are paying for an awesome location, great ambiance and okay food that is way overpriced. It served my purpose of meeting an old friend and catching up but I'm not sure I would go back.

Happily surprised. I hadn't been since the restaurant changed concepts. It was terrific. Great menu. Many more healthy sounding options than the previous menu offered. We shared the cornbread appetizer and the brussels sprouts and butternuts squash. The cornbread had the perfect crust. Both delicious. I had the tuna burger with seaweed. I loved it but it didn't love me. But I'll be back to try more of the menu. Nice ambiance. Great sounding cocktails.

This is a great restaurant with a varied menu. I recommend State Fare for foodies or just people who like good American food that has has a fresh take in what you are used to. I have never been disappointed here. My only wish is that they would offer more gluten free options beyind salads.

I visited this restaurant with a large group. The service was a bit slow but the atmosphere and beer selection were on point. I tried the Texas flight and shared several appetizers. Overall, it’s a great spot to hang out and enjoy drinks.

Met a colleague here and threw away all diets to indulge in a night of gluttony! We had shrimp and crab dip, dill pickle dip, gumbo, tortilla soup, and onion rings!

Enjoyed dinner with a friend after work. The food was terrific, crab cakes, hot fried chicken, brussels sprouts… everything was great. The wine list is good. The restaurant is lively and comfortable, a little noisy during happy hour as would be expected. The service was wonderful - plenty of time to review the menu and talk, but prompt and courteous when needed.

Thought this was very good. Burger was excellent. Mac and cheese was divine. Tuna salad was not great; we thought we were getting tuna steak; they offered to replace with something else but we declined. We also tried the hush puppies- just ok. Couldn't taste the spice. Too full to try dessert. However, the side dishes look SO good I would suggest they make up a vegetable plate with a choice of four. I would definitely order that. Service was very good. We went at 11:00 on a weekday and it Was not busy at all.

I liked everything about this place! Atmosphere, food (Salad with Steak), music, service - I really enjoyed it. Thank you

4 of us went for the first time yesterday. 3 had the breakfast platter. Cat head biscuit was huge, 2 maple bacon and 2 sausage patty topped off with the best hash browns. The meal is big enough to split, we had lots of leftovers. 1 had the eggs Benedict over crab cakes, while this is not to my taste I did sample and the crab cake was amazing. Will be back- can't wait for the Sugar Land location to open up!

Was invited to a business lunch State Fare. This was my first visit and I ordered a lunch salad. The waiter recommended the Green Goddess salad with grilled chicken. Wow ! The chicken was simply wonderful....moist and tender. I'll be returning again to test other items on the menu. The service was very good and the food came quickly. The place was very busy and had an upscale, city bistro sort of vibe. The complimentary valet parking was a plus. My only criticism would be the music was way too loud. The loud music coupled with the chatter of the crowd made it difficult at times to hear the folks across the table. But for the most part my dining experience was very, very good.

The food was OK and service good but the restaurant was loud on Saturday lunchtime, even though it was not full. Something to do with the building acoustics.

Came here for my bday dinner and didn't really felt like American food but it was late and we were hungry and indecisive and I didn't want Memorial mall food after shopping. And we squeaked in just in time before it closed. My friend insisted it was good. I couldn't decide what to get but thinking can't go wrong with fried chicken. And wow the dishes were so big! None of us can finish it. I loved my chicken. The potatoes were amazing too. It's all just so rich. We tasted each other's food and it was all tasty. The pork loin was so tender too. Some parts dry but still tasty. Green beans buttery. Fries were good. Chicken fried steak was huge! Totally shareable or must take home. So satisfied with the food. Prices were reasonable for the amount they gave. Only negative is that we came in 30mins to closing and even though there were other patrons we can tell they were itching to close. They didn't come back to refill water nor offer dessert rushed us to pay the bill and promptly gave us to go boxes. Didn't like that aspect of their customer service. Otherwise may be back for the food :)

Our anniversary was the day before Mother’s Day so we decided to have brunch here. The wait was about 20 minutes although they did seat us quicker than they told us. Very busy on this Saturday and the server was clearly busier than she could really handle. After 3 “be right back” promises, we were able to order. The food is excellent. Great portions, great flavor. My wife had the loco moco, excellent portions and taste. I had the full breakfast. Honestly not a fan of the sausage but my son went later that day and he thought it was excellent. Clearly just a preference. Be prepared, the venue is extremely loud. Sports bar loud. Just wasn’t what we expected and made it hard to carry on a conversation. It’s a great place to visit. Probably won’t be my first choice, but I will go with my family! Great food. Great value. Loud venue and servers with more than they can serve at a 5 star level.

We stopped by for lunch only to discover this was a bar and grill that had an extensive drink menu. The appetizer to sandwiches to plates to sides offers an adventure in exotic tastes very unexpected in such a unassuming location. They offer over 100 different libations ranging from local craft beers to imported wines. We tried their namesake cheeseburger and were delighted with the taste combinations.

Love the decor and setting here at State Fare. There is also nice outdoor seating. Which we should have done rather than sit inside. There were 5 of us at a table and it was very loud in there, we couldn't have much conversation. So come here for the food and not to necessarily converse with your party. We started at the bar with drinks. Then had to close out our tab when we were seated. We had reservations and our table was ready quickly. The tangy pimento cheese snack with seasoned saltines was really flavorful. The queso blanco with green chiles and tortilla chips could have been skipped. Everyone loved the deviled eggs two ways. We should have ordered more of them. We didn't have the dill pickle dip, but wished we would have tried that too. For dinner I ate the sweet greens salad with avocado, feta, chicken and green goddess dressing, it was so good. The crab cakes meal and fried catfish meal were liked by the ones who ordered that at our table too. The garlic roasted butternut squash & brussel sprouts with bacon marmalade was a delicious side item. Our service was great and it's a neat place to eat, just loud.

Had dinner here on March 3. Food was outstanding. The Houston Hot Chicken and the Grilled Cheese were great. Served hot. Service was pretty good, but when we ordered drinks, it seemed to take awhile for drinks to come. We each had 2 drinks. Clean restrooms. All in all a 5. I would recommend and return.

We've driven by State Fare a number of times and finally decided to stop in one night. We loved the fresh, modern decor and the cozy booth where we were seated. They were playing a lot of 80s music which gave the place a fun vibe. Our server was warm and friendly and helped us by making menu recommendations. Since it was a cold, blustery day, we opted to order the Sabine Pass Gumbo and the Oaxacan Tortilla Soup. Both were very tasty, and the portions were extremely generous. The gumbo had large shrimp, andouille sausage, chicken, rice, and an entire crab on top. The broth was rich and dark. I thought it was quite good; the whole crab was a bit of a challenge; it made a beautiful presentation, but fishing around in the dark broth and attempting to crack it myself was messy. The tortilla soup was really delicious and flavorful - made with smoky chicken, guajillo chiles, avocado, and long crispy tortilla strips. The bowl came to our table with all the ingredients inside, and our waiter poured a smoking hot broth over the top of them. Delicious. We also ordered a salad to share - the Sweet Greens Salad that was topped with avocado, green goddess dressing, feta, and toasted almonds. It was fantastic and served as a nice counterpoint to the rich gumbo. The serving size was enormous and more than enough for two people to share. Really the perfect combination of flavors; we would definitely get that again. I'd like to see a few less complicated drinks on the menu - regular margaritas rather than spicy ones. Most of the cocktail options were infused with things like habanero, Thai chiles, and spicy gin. Creative but a little overly complicated for us. Overall we really enjoyed dining here and would love to make a return trip. If you're looking for a fun, contemporary bistro with a Southern slant, definitely give this spot a try.

The menu choices are so-so. Service pretty good. The biggest issue though is the noise, quite unbearable beyond 15 minutes. Don't come here if you are looking for place to have a quiet discussion.

I love a good deviled egg. And these were tasty. I especially loved the little nugget of bacon sticking out of the top. YUM!! Unfortunately, I had to pay $8 for two eggs. You have got to be kidding me. And the street corn toast was delicious as well but $7 for a piece of toast with some avocado and corn on it? While your food is delicious and I understand you are a business, it's a little ridiculous to me.

I have wanted to visit State Fare having read several very positive reviews. It was a very nice evening and so we were able to eat on the patio. The service was attentive but not intrusive. I took his recommendation of the Chef's Special that was tasty and flavorful. It was a good choice. We ordered a couple of sides and they were plenty large enough for two. Because of the price of the wines, we choose the least expensive red on the menu but it was quite good.

Our party of 6 came here one night recently to celebrate a birthday. The decor is modern and eclectic. Lots of tvs for sports viewing. I enjoyed the kind of sweet blood orange margarita while some liked the spicier one. The double wedge salad was huge with lots of blue cheese. Burger was huge and enjoyed as well as the crispy fries. Other dishes that were liked were tortilla soup, chicken wings and huge onion rings. I liked the Shrimp a la Creole but the promise to be a spicy sauce was not met. Our service was very attentive with one plus being the water carafe left on the table. A free dessert of choice was for the birthday girl. All in all it was enjoyable experience, but be prepared to pay high prices for everything.

First time here. Very convenient to hotel. Service was quick and efficient with just the right amount of attention. Just had eggs and bacon and coffee. It was all just fine. I will come back here and explore the menu more time permitting. Worth you trying too I believe

My husband and I visited the restaurant for the first time after seeing countless ads for this restaurant. We were blown away by how beautiful the restaurant was. The ambiance was relaxing and inviting. Our server Michael was the absolute best. He was very friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. We will definitely come back!!

The portions here are massive! Be prepared to be very full and to take food with you. I really enjoyed the appetizers. We got the fried green tomatoes and the chili Fritos pie. For my meal, I got the Birria grilled cheese sandwich. It was very good. Service was slow, but it was very busy. I would love to go back and get another one of those sandwiches!

Went for brunch with friend. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Food down home looking with a twist. Very tasty. Unfortunately, the venue is extremely loud when crowded so, not a good venue to visit with friends to catch up. We were yelling at each other to try to hear. Would not recommend as a place to relax with friends

The food was great, guacamole was wonderful, the fried Catfish was moist & tender w. great hush puppies. Good gumbo. however, it is so noisy, surely they can do something about it. we had 7 people, everyone loved their food, but couldn't talk except to people right next to you. also, I thought the house wine was a bit steep at $11. per glass.

Our first visit here. Excellent service. Food was top notch. I had the shrimp creole. Portion was large. Unusual though, that they don't give you any bread to go with it. Place is a little noisy making it hard to talk.

Amazing service and with a great selection of beer, great food, sandwiches are their specialities. Not so pricey for the location. Totally a must for casual dates or after offices hangout.

We went for lunch, service was fast and the food was delightful. Good sized servings and good service, although the place was a little noisy, but I understand that the are sections that are quieter. I had the chicken fried ribeye steak. My wife had the Frito chili pie. We were both happy with the food. Parking is free valet.

The food is very good. I'm a big fan of the hot chicken and short rib mac-n-cheese in particular. Service is good, and it is a nice but casual place. I do feel they may be priced a little high for the food that they serve. Hard to really describe it but I often walk out thinking, "that was good but did I really just drop $20-$30 on a salad, sandwich, mac-n-cheese, or piece of chicken? Am I in Houston?"

The restaurant is open and reminiscent of an old country store. The menu is large and filled with Texas State favorites. The drinks are excellent. The food from start to finish was delicious and the portions ample. I had a burger. It was amazing. The fried chicken enjoyed by my dinner companion was also excellent.

Now here's a different concept love the way it's set up kind of a bar kind of a bistro, very eclectic. Great drinks , best Bloody Mary ever ! Food is upscale bar food good variety . Very noisy kind of close you sort of eat with your new found neighbors and discuss there choices if it looks good . Very new some of the system could be improved on lots of help looking for who ordered what . They will get better. Crowded on the Sunday I went . Overall I would give it a 7 out of 10 . Food 10 out of 10 . Drinks over the top. I liked it .

We came to State Fare for a reunion of high school girlfriends and loved this place. It's a contemporary Southern bistro with great food, fresh modern decor, and a nice bar area. We ordered an appetizer plate consisting of tortilla chips, tasty white queso with green chiles, fresh salsa, and chunky guacamole and all enjoyed it; the portion size was generous and big enough for four to share. For lunch, we each had different items - fried green tomatoes with lump crab meat, Sabine Pass gumbo, seared salmon with elote corn puree, and a Southwest Caesar salad. Thumbs up from all of us - the food was really flavorful, and we even had enough to bring home leftovers. The menu is eclectic - a bit of a Texas, Gulf Coast, Southern mash up with lots of good options - something for everyone here. The cocktails looked amazing, but we were here for an early lunch so didn't partake. The service was good and very friendly. We're already looking forward to coming back.

Good contemporary restaurant with plenty of space, tables and bar. Service was good. Menu has lots of options from appetizers, salads, burgers, other entrees, and desserts. I found the food good but not exceptional. They do have TVs so it has a sports bar feel. It was not crowded fir Monday Night Football.

First off - the food is Usually delicious and served hot and fast from the kitchen. That’s why it’s a favorite- USUALLY! However when coming in with a large group (12 or more by their definition) the great taste, customer service and comfortable surroundings disappear with little to no help from their “special events manager” or management. Our group of 15-16 people was scheduled a month in advance but details that were important for our group to know were not communicated until the week of the event causing lots of last minute panic to our group 😒 Our waiter (1 for 16 people!) was a nice guy but slow and half the food came out cold and unappealing. Lessons learned: I wouldn’t attempt to bring a large group here as they seem to not be able to handle it or want the business. Just save it for happy hour or date night or 6 or less people at a time.

Visited State Fare Kitchen & Bar last Saturday night and was impressed. Service was excellent and food was delicious. Offers a nice selection of burgers, salads, seafood and appetizers. Plus, the kids meals are great, served on a "cafeteria-like" tray, separating the entre, side, fruit, cookie, etc. (Much like a Japanese bento box). A big hit for the little ones! Definitely recommend starting (and sharing) the queso blanco with green chiles and brisket. It's fresh and delicious, served with warm tortilla strips. Also, the frozen drink flight is a great accompaniment to this appetizer.

My husband and I are foodies. More than the food, we appreciate and respect good service. I have a lot of respect for waiters, knowing that in US it is not always respected as a career as other countries. Therefore I will overlook the quality of food because I know it is beyond their control. I always keep in mind it's a very difficult and thankless job for little pay. We were greeted and seated quite quickly upon arrival. The restaurant has a sports entertainment ambiance. The noise level is really a challenge with loud music on the background, a television on every wall and people talking a bit loud to battle the competing noise levels. This explains our waiters elevated tone when inquiring about our drink order. While waiting for our drinks the server brought 3 cold waters, of which I stated I prior to him placing on the table, I would rather not have. He informed me " You may not want it but I am leaving it here anyway", my response if you so choose to offer me water I would rather it hot or room temperature. His response was " I will bring you hot water eventhough I am already bringing your coffee". Keep in mind I never asked for water to begin. That set the tone for our meal. We placed our order, and watch 3 tables that was seated after our arrival served their meals. Once our entrees was received the eggs and sausage were room temperature. The hash browns was quite burnt on the bottom and partially cooked on the inside. The meals did not come with condiments so you had request, ketchup, butter or sauce you desired. All condiments was served in a tiny container. Keep in mind the average entree is $14 -$24. One thing I never do is return a meal. I believe especially when you are just opening the food should be consistent. Eventhough his place is 3mins from our house this will our first and last visit.

We had a reunion of old friends at State Fare on a Saturday over the holidays. Love the contemporary, modern bistro vibes of this spot. I was surprised that they only had a brunch menu available since it was after 2:00 in the afternoon; menu choices were a little limited. The food was good, not great. I had a salad topped with shrimp, and it came in a heavy mayo-based dressing that weighed everything down. I probably would have ordered something else if there were a better description on the menu. My husband had the Southwest Baja Bowl, and that was really good, but pricey at nearly eighteen dollars before he added chicken to it. The drinks were excellent. My margarita was delicious, and friends shared a flight of Bellinis that they enjoyed. Our server was really personable, but the service was slow, taking a long time to even get glasses of water and menus. To be fair they were busy since it was a holiday weekend. He offered to do separate checks for all the couples, and we really appreciated that. Overall we had a good time, and they had a nice kids' menu for friends that brought their children. I liked the atmosphere a lot, but prices are a little too high to make this a part of our regular rotation.

Placed an order to pick up, received the text that the order was ready and headed to the restaurant, after notifying I was there and waiting 25min I had to go inside the restaurant and that’s when they found my very cold at this point order. Even talked to the manager who didn’t provide any help. Terrible service, do not recommend this place.

Just the best of everything! Attentive staff, bottles on table to refill water, each meal was perfect temperature & arrived all together for our party of 6. Noise level energized but not over bearing. Perfect place for all kinds of dining out occasions :)

The food was good. They are VERY concerned with clearing your plates...when I was a server, we were always taught to wait until all people are done eating so to not make the 'slow' eater feel self conscious or hurried. At this place, they were like hawks about removing everything just as you finished. But the food itself was good.

This was our first meal stop while in Houston for a pre-Super Bowl weekend visit and it knocked it out of the park. There were five us with a variety of tastes! We were all very satisfied! Some of us had breakfast, some brunch and then some lunch. And we all enjoyed cocktails. Our server was delightful and on top of it, even though she had several tables in our area alone. I believe everyone was super pleased with their meals. I had the eggy BLT. It was served on a bun and was so good! But so much food! Not that that is a bad thing. Waffles great, well everything was great. Location was bustling, parking garage close by. Give it a try!

Their Chillie Margaritas were outstanding !!!!!!!!! Our waitress, a bubbly read head named Rhiannon was outstanding !!!!!!!!!. The food was very tasty. Very good menu. A busy, buzzie, fun place to go to.

If you are looking for a place to go for brunch, give State Fare a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed. The menu is extensive and even the pickiest eater should easily find something. I have tried several dishes and looking forward to trying something different on my next visit. The service was excellent and by the time we left the restaurant was very busy.

Extremely slow service and horrible food. We ordered our drinks quite a while before appetizers and our appetizer came first. Drinks came after our actual meal. The wrong drink order came out. When our correct order came out, the beer flight and wine was awful, we couldn’t finish them. As for the food. My husband ordered a bbq chicken salad. The salad came out with mushy, cold, pink chicken that we couldn’t even tell was chicken. We took 2 bites and could t finish it. I ordered Gumbo and it was super salty and smokey. Between the slow service, wrong drink orders, and disgusting food and drinks, we won’t be going back.

I went for my birthday for the first time and had a great time! The service was very good, the huge menu was impressive, the food quality was excellent. Lot of drink options too. The dining room is large and there's also a bar but at 11:00 on a Sunday morning the place was jam packed - make a res!!!

When we were seated, my daughter and I commented we had been told their desserts were outstanding and our server recommended we start with dessert. Great idea! I have a small red velvet cake obsession which was my reason for coming here. They were out, so I ordered the carrot cake instead and it was pretty fabulous. I followed it up with the grilled cheese and BBQ chips. Delish!

This restaurant is about five minutes from our house, and was suggested by former neighbors. We were there on a Friday evening at about 6 o'clock. This was our first visit. We had a slow start, service wise. We felt like they couldn't figure out who was supposed to be taking care of our table. However, once they got it figured out, everything went smoothly. We ordered a couple of appetizers, and when they came to the table, we decided to forego entrees. After we finally got the order in, everything came to the table very quickly. We had the Queso Blanco with Green Chiles, the Shrimp Cocktail "Fulton Street" Style, and an order of onion rings. The portions of each appetizer was very generous. Everything was pretty good. We couldn't really complain, but nothing memorable. The onion rings were our least favorite. Very doughy. The wine prices are fair. About double your local grocery store, so not of reason. We were completely full after we polished off the appetizers, so we didn't try anything else. They have a great selection of beers, and I would definitely give it another try to sample a burger or two.

Really enjoyed the brunch! My bacon praline waffle was delicious. I added a side of one scrambled egg and we shared a carafe of grapefruit mimosa. I tried the poached egg with crab cake but it was a little bland. The chicken and waffles was very good also. The flight of Bloody Mary s was very tastey. Nice decor. We had reservations which was a good idea. Will go back again

Service was OK until time to pay check, server all but disappeared, took way too long to check out. They get an "A" for presentation, but when it comes to trying to eat the burger or chicken sandwich, it was almost impossible. Just an absolute mess and then the bun got soggy from their "special" sauce. I've never paid this much for a sandwich and have it be a disaster. The chicken was fried and not tasty at all. French fries were limp, no crisp to them at all. Must of been a bad choice on my part but everything else they offered was way too expense for a lunch with the girls.

Good variety of American food. Service very attentive and courteous. Speciality drinks menu. Drinks were nice size and had proper amount of alcohol.

Cute little place outside of Memorial City Mall area. I met a friend for brunch and the place was so packed! This is a trendy place I love it. They have a separate waiting area and your whole party must be present to be seated. Good variety for brunch and lunch. I ordered a mimosa carafe for the table, pomegranate flavor. We couldn't really taste the pomegranate it was more like just drinking champagne but all in all it was fair. They offer Mimosa flights which is your chance to taste 4 mimosas: orange, pineapple, blood orange & grapefruit. Slowed down after 3pm on Sunday. I plan on returning!

I went to State Fare Kitchen over the weekend to host a party. I have meet Danielle and Jase once I got there. They were absolutely incredible!!! They went above and beyond for the party, we had their best waiter. We had a little issue with the GM Laurie prior to the party and the entire planning. We were told that we were too loud even though we had a private room. We were also told that three of their customer had left because of the loudness of the party. Once Jase had cleared it up to us we had lowered our volume. After the party was done we proceed to exit the building. Laurie took photos of our cars etc. Laurie (THE GM) became very disrespectful calling us "b****" she also called the cops saying that we had touch her(we have the video) when we never laid a hand on her. Laurie proceed to charge me both chest to chest invading my personal space. Laurie also talk to the customer rudely telling then "don't f****** looking over here" (also have on video)We were trying to figure out what happens to what they say we have broken. also told a waiter to "get the F out of my face". Laurie is not fit to run an establishment with her attitude and the way she handles her customers. I never heard of this place until I had to host a party there. I would never step foot in here simply the food wasn't great, all the other staff customer service were great. If nothing is address I will bring forth the media and taking legal action. It's embarrassing that your and our guest had to witness such an absurd matter.

I come here for the great cocktails and great burgers. I dont eat redmeat often so when I eat a hamburger I like to make sure its a real good one and to make it worth it. The Bacon Cheeseburger here is really good. Well seasoned, good flavor, good quality meat. Definitely not a frozen patty. I also like their seasonal cocktails or I opt for one of their Moscow Mules. The bartenders have been really good on all of my visits here. I definitely recommend putting State Fare on the "to try" list. When my family visits they like I us to stop by here.

Oh my!! What a great treat! We were greeted warmly by the hostess and manager, Robby. He helped us select a great wine. The food came out quickly and exceeded all expectations!

Did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. Food, and drink both were great. all kinds of drinks on a drink menu which was nice to see. Food had an extensive menu and service was great. When you want a relaxed not rushed experience highly reccomend.

My sister was celebrating her birthday by trying a new restaurant. We both ordered the 8 oz. chicken fried ribeye with sides of French fries and onion rings. The chicken fried ribeye was well-seasoned and not over battered or dried out. The French fries were hand cut and well-seasoned. Unfortunately, they were overcooked to the point of almost being burnt. The onion rings were well- seasoned. However, they were cut too thick and the batter was way too dense. My sister and I only drank water. We had no appetizers or dessert. We were charged 62.93. Way over-priced! Will not be returning.

Stopped for brunch after church, had a short wait for a table. Well worth it. The food was excellent the portions large & tasty. By the time we were leaving, there was a long line proof that it's worth waiting for....

Its a contemporary, casual atmosphere with a sports bar.The service was good. I recommend the shrimp cocktail Fulton St. style with avocado & line tomato sauce, onions & warm tortilla chips. $17.00. The Devil eggs w/shaved kale, cilantro lime dressing with bacon. "very tasty". price range from $11.00 - $30.00. I would go again. This restaurant is combined with to the memorial city mall, and a medical center in case you are from out of town. Everything is very convenient.

A friend chose this place to enjoy for a late lunch on Saturday and it did not disappoint. They have a yummy Frito pie dish and a great chicken, shrimp and sausage jambalaya. I definitely plan to return to try the banana and pecan french toast. Yum!

Atmosphere, food, service.... all excellent!! It is becoming a "go to" place, when we're in Houston!!

A wonderful dining experience. Their dill dip and homemade bbq chips cannot be missed. Pork chop with root beer reduction sauce is a delight. Only flaw is I would have preferred a better specialty drink selection.

EXCELLENT!!! The food is so very good. The atmosphere is terrific. There is a beautiful bar with a HUGE variety of draft beers.... just awesome!!!

I am in love with this restaurant! Food is delicious and always hot and fresh. The atmosphere is perfect for groups and just family! Service is impeccable!
Great food, great service! Odd location
My husband and I live recently moved to the Heights area. We like to follow Top Restaurants of Houston type news articles & try the restaurants on this list. This was on a Top Restaurant of Houston 2016 so we decided to try it. We were surprised that I was located on I-10 West of Downtown. However, we decided to give it a try. Depending on what direction you are coming from, you might miss it! It is part of the Westin/Westgate property and is located on the feeder road. The beer menu is really good. Our waiter made 2 good suggestions to us and we liked both! We ordered the crabmeat and creamed corn hushpuppies - they had a little spice & were delicious. There are only 5 to an order so they were perfect for the 2 of us. However, if you have a larger group, it is probably worth ordering something else. They have a few very delicious big salads! Several customers had ordered different salads around the restaurant so we decided to follow suit! We ordered the southwestern Caesar salad (added chicken), macaroni and cheese with short rib, and a side of onion rings. We also ordered the seasonal bread pudding which was butterscotch the evening we were there. Everything was delicious! The salad was hearty & the dressing exceptional. The grilled chicken add was a bit dry but did not distract too much. The macaroni and cheese was to die for! The short rib was delicious & the dish was not too rich such that you could only have a few bites before it was too much. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that lives in the area! I'm not sure if we will go back to this place due to its location. We wish it were in a more populated area closer to downtown.
