Perfect Steaks

By perthprecious |

This high-end steakhouse keeps us coming back for more. Consistently amazing food. We have dined at this restaurant numerous times in the past especially for special occasions. It's a fancy restaurant and has a nice ambience. This time we were at Steak 48 for my birthday. I received a birthday card signed by the GM. It was a lovely gesture. Very much appreciated. Their famous pull apart bread is addictive. Our steaks were cooked to perfection! We ordered a bone in ribeye and a fillet mignon. Juicy, tender and delicious! We ended our meal with the subtle and delicate warm vanilla caramel cake. It was another fantastic and enjoyable dining experience. Service is timely and efficient. Friendly staff and attentive. Dress up and get yourself there!!

Upscale Dining

By 352MD |

I love a good steak and decided to try Steak 48. The food was delicious and service was great. The tables are two close together. I would dine again and try the bar area.

Come for the steak….stay for the sweet potatoes.

By Rdhatfield |

This was my 4th time to Steak 48. The food here is amazing. My steak is always perfect. The sweet potatoes themselves could be my meal!!! The staff is above anything else you’ll find in Houston.

Excellent Food and ambience

By Olga M |

This restaurant specializes in meat and seafood. but if you want to have a great salmon or fish it’s also great. Entrees and starters are for sharing and don’t miss on the bread with garlic and Parmesan cheese. Reservations in advance is highly recommended specially if you are planning tu go on weekends. Saturday night is a great place to have fun with friends. Thanks for the great service we can’t wait to go back!

We celebrated our 50th anniversary here last night.

By dkdoremifaAustin |

The ambiance was lovely and our server , Sheng Chu was extraordinarily charming as well as informative. His wine recommendation was spot on as well as his attentiveness. The deviled egg/shrimp appetizer was delicious as well as our steaks. A perfect evening!

Amazing

By llcoold |

Came here for drinks with a supplier, stayed for the amazing food! The Caesar salad was first class, and the scallops...well they were to die for! Service was also very attentive, and place had a good buzz. You pay for what you get, so don’t expect the drinks and dinner to not hurt your wallet. Well worth it however!

After a long day, a warm welcome!

By Herhon M |

Even after more than two decades of visiting, this place never ceases to amaze. From the pasta dishes to the expertly prepared pizzas, the cuisine is always superb. It is perfect for informal weeknight dinners as well as family gatherings because of the cozy and inviting ambiance. Every visit feels unique because the staff always remembers our favorites and smiles when they meet us. Truly the best restaurant, it's hard to find one that maintains its quality and charm for so long!

First and last visit

By jayo0556 |

The restaurant has good but over priced food. It is relatively loud and dimly lit. The lighting is low enough where several at our table were using the flashlights on their phones to read the menu. The restaurant does have a dress code that is not very well enforced. On the whole, it was not a satisfying experience. In talking with one of my colleagues afterwards, we both agreed that we would be taking clients else where in the future

Doorman completely inappropriate

By Jay Z |

We're a party of 6, and one of us was wearing designer athletic trainers. The doorman took it on himself to tell the manager that we are out of dress code and they wouldn't let us in. It was extremely disappointing, especially since these were not athletic clothes, but designer Nike pants. The website states athletic training clothes or revealing clothing may not be admitted. I can guarantee you that there were folks with extremely revealing clothing that went in. The receptionist was about to let us in without a problem. It's unfortunate that an entitled doorman ruined a Saturday evening for us.

LOUD

By BWB77024 |

Went there tonight 2-5-19. Valet, pleasant people and really nice staff. But, if you want a conversation that you are not yelling at your table do not sit near the bar area. Seriously I think i left with ear damage. Had the wedge and split it. Very nice. Had the bone in ribeye and split it. Rare plus cooked great but way to grizzly for me for what you paid. Everything is al la carte. I saw the King crab served and it looked nice. They have a great selection of wines. The restroom. Went to use it and there was a woman in the hall waiting, I dont know if she was staff or not. But she appeared to be monitoring. Its a one person toilet on the men's side so I assume the same on the women's. Thats pretty small for the number of people. I opened the door and was shocked. The toilet was like a mens truck stop. Think about that. Honestly, it was not the one of an upscale restaurant. Desert menu is pretty nice. Again, the staff was great, my meat was grizzly, the bathroom needed a buc-ees cleaning ( its a Texas thing). So its nice, but not my choice and the patrons are pig wannabes.

It just can’t get any better

Service was great, struggle for words to describe the food - incredible. If you want good seafood or good steak this place has to be the first on the list….

Perfect for Upscale Business Dinner

By Michael F |

In a city with a plethora of good steak houses, this one stands very near, if not at, the top. The service was superb, the apps perfect and the steaks prepared perfectly. And, the bar scene was quite lively so don't be afraid to go early to have a beverage at the bar.

Good food, except for the steaks!

By Gabriel H |

We joined friends for dinner. The place was hopping when we arrived. Valet parking was efficient and our table was ready, although we had to wait downstairs until our friends arrived. Downstairs is noisy, busy and cozy. Our table upstairs was very nice, the atmosphere more sedate, so that we could talk and enjoy the company. Service was on the very good side, although not well coordinated: several waiters asked us about the type of water after we had already ordered it. Our main waiter handed us the "special" (read expensive!) wine list, but forgot to inform us the more ordinary wine list was on the reverse of the menu (or placemat). Cocktails and aperitifs were delicious. The appetizers were excellent: we enjoyed the Deviled Eggs, Burrata, Caesar salad and wedge salad. The main dishes were definitely mixed: the Crab Cakes were excellent and so were the Lobster Tails; the bone-in ribeye and the KC strip were both overcooked (we ordered them medium-rare), chewy and had no taste. Our waiter offered to re-do them, but we had lost confidence in the kitchen. after all, this is a steak restaurant! The asparagus and mushroom sides were excellent! The steaks were taken off our bill, which was the right thing to do, and overall, we had a pleasant, enjoyable evening with our friends. Since our starters were quite generous, we didn't leave hungry, but the disappointment over our steaks lingers...

Always sit upstairs

By ShelleyMatthews |

Steak 48 is one of the best steak houses in Houston and I pride myself because I have been to every one of them. It’s pricey, but nothing more then the other good ones. Steaks are awesome. Order sides, most of them are outstanding too. Downstairs is a scene and way to loud. If you want to have a conversation you have to go upstairs. There is a pick up bar downstairs so there’s that.

Do u have?

By AUSAGUY007 |

The food here for what you is very you can easily spend forty dollars a person, they're like to push alcohol and I don't think it's about the quality of the food

Expensive but worth every penny!

By Maegen Smith |

Is this place expensive? Yes, but it’s soo worth it. The food, the service, EVERYTHING is 5 stars. We come here once every other year and I always leave satisfied.

Awesome place

By Deborah A |

Love the ambiance, Great food. Nice selection of appetizers. the elegance of a fresh lobster to the down-home fun of fish and chips.

Wagyu in Houston

By Senior on Tour |

I fancied a steak in Houston and was recommended this by a friend. I had the Australian Wagyu. Yep it was pricey but frankly it was worth every penny. It was nicely seared on the outside and lovely and pink inside (medium rare). Didn’t bother with sides by did pick at my friends Mac n’ cheese Again awesome. Great wine list.

WOW! What an evening. Fantastic Food and Service

By Robert E |

While this is definitely a higher-priced restaurant it was well worth the splurge. From having drinks at the bar to an amazing menu of steaks, fish and other choices it was a fantastic experience all the way around. Including the people watching. We both had martinis and then on to filets with sides of baked potato and the spinach. The bread that came before the meal was warm and so very tasty. The servers were a lot of fun and full attentive without being over bearing. Just a great experience that I would highly recommend.

Steak 48 is Michelle ….but actually Michelle is Steak 48 ….11/10…………… Best in class , just fantastic , …………………………………….!!

Not what it's cracked up to be.

By txmmoore |

Steak 48 is an upscale type steak house that, in my opinion is no different than any other steak house. I made reservations 24 hours in advance and was told they only had 5:30pm seating available, so I took a table at 5:30. We were promptly seated to what appeared to be a completely empty room? Excuse me, if I took one of the last few tables at 5:30, you'd think the restaurant would be full? No only that, but no one really showed for almost an hour after we were there. We both had the NY strip steak and I asked for mine to be medium rate. When it arrived, it was more of a medium well, but I did not want to wait for another cook. The best thing about my dinner was the waitress Maddy. Kudos to her, as she was entertaining and very delightful. NOTE OF WARNING. The restaurant states there is ample parking across the street. When we arrived, I attempted to turn into this parking place, but was told it was for valet only. There was also a sign that stated "No Parking". I am now thinking the valet service put up the sign to get people to use their service. So, if there is plenty of parking across the street, where is it? After a $400 dinner, I doubt I will return.

Impressive experience

By Andreea O |

It was my first time at Steak 48 last night, I didn’t know what to expect other than “the steak was great”. But as soon as you walk in you know this place is different. We stayed in a glass wall booth across from the kitchen which is also surrounded by glass walls. Our server Michelle was amazing, very knowledgeable and was there as soon as you thought It!! The food incredible! For appetizers we tried the Rhode Island calamari and shrimp, pork belly, shishito peppers, I had the bone-in filet mignon and one of my friends tried the butcher’s cut wagyu steak! He didn’t need a fork for that one! Worth every penny. They have a great cocktail menu and very nice wine selection. This Restaurant Is on our favorites list now!

I stop here every time I’m in Houston

By anasthepsychic |

I stop here every time I’m in Houston, Not to mention people watching the bar downstairs has more..Upstairs I don’t mind watching how they make their breads their steaks are great the seafood platter is number one excellent service

Great food and place

By Traveler mom |

We went to this restaurant for my birthday. The waiter was super nice, friendly and professional. Food is super fresh, tasty and delicious. The environment is so beautiful and friendly. The only concern that the tables are so closed to each other so you could hear the entire conversation from the neighbor’s table. We had a complimentary dessert for my birthday. Sure will come again. Highly recommended.

Company Dinner

By thomo215 |

This dinner was planned for the out of town Owners of our company, so it had to be done right. They are very well travelled and know what to expect from a high end restaurant. And Steak 48 delivered. The food was great, the wait staff was very professional and everyone was impressed with the restaurant. We will use them again in the future.

Five Star

By Richard |

Have to rank this place near the top of my favorites. First time to visit, but will definitely be back. Outstanding service and excellent food. The tune poke was very fresh and tasty. Steak and mushrooms were awesome! Had six people in my party and all were still talking about it the next day about how good it was.

If you didn't know any better...

By NoTouristPlease |

Took the family here for a Christmas dinner. The place is very nice and it is in a trendy area but it pretty much stopped there. We expected more with the high ratings but in reality, the food was just OK at best. The quality of the food did not fit the high price. The meat was dry and the seafod was bland. Some appertizers and side orders were either too salty or too sweet. Overall, the place is nice but the food definitely was not memorable. We were totally disappointed!

Finest ribeye I have ever had

By paulajeand |

I am not a big steak eater but I figured since I was in Texas, I should indulge. Wow! I now understand why people like steak. It was delicious!! My friend and I split a bone in rib eye, mashed potatoes and corn creme brûlée. Everything we put into our mouths was a food revelation. They give you homemade cookies for desert. The environment was relaxed, comfortable and clubby. The service was outstanding.

Not one more dime Steak 48

By N911NYwilliama |

I made a reservation for valentine's day and called them today the 11th to cancel it. I was told by the young lady that answered that I will be charged $50 for not canceling 4 days prior to valentine's day. I'd understand if I had not shown up and the table sat empty, but that's not the case here. I called and cancelled so some other couple can have my table and the restaurant doesn't loose that income. They did tell me of this policy when I made the reservation, but as a long time patron I hoped that they would do the right thing. Well ... make good use of that little $50 Steak 48 as I typically spent eight times that or more when dining there, but you'll not see another dime from me.

Top quality steaks

By 962adid |

If you like steaks and enjoy high quality meats with superb service then this place is where you want to be. They have phenomenal steaks, outstanding dessert menu, superb coffee and most importantly a fascinating ambience. Of course this place is not cheap but it is 100% worth it especially if you take a special date or person with you. I ate there few times and had the same pleasant experience everytime. Will be visiting the place again real soon. I highly recommend it.

High end steakhouse

Best Bone-in Fillet Mignon ever had

By chai n |

I had only one night in Houston and I really want to have some steak. After reading all reviews, asking Concierge, I finally picked Steak 48 which is rather far from IAH airport hotel. I normally do not order Fillet Mignon or tenderloin and to my surprise, I made the right choice. Steak was tender and juicy (as juicy as rib-eye, but more tender and less marbling fat). It was truly the best tenderloin I every had.

Awesome manager saves the night.

By JohnFSorrentino |

After a long flight and checking into our hotel, we wanted a good Texas steak. The concierge made us a reservation. We pulled up to a very upscale steakhouse and even wearing Lululemon, we were completely underdressed and we knew it. We thought we would give it a try and as expected the doorman told us we were not dressed appropriately. (He actually told me to walk to Target to buy different clothes… ) Anyway he asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and we did. The manager Brandon came out and was so accommodating. He seated us is a less conspicuous place (which we loved) and had a most delicious meal. I had the KC bone in strip and wifee had the bone in filet. Perfect! The wait staff was amazing. It was a perfect night. I highly recommend it. (Just don’t wear Lululemon joggers)

Pretty good experience overall, but still short of ideal.

By sm28185 |

For starters, the shishito peppers, crispy shrimp, and oysters were great (need to mention that they have the one of the best sets of oyster dressings and toppings I’ve had in town). Our side dishes were all also very tasty, especially the corn creme brûlée (highly recommend). The drawbacks of the meal were unfortunately related to the steaks themselves. While they were tender, they weren’t flavorful at all. On top of that, the black truffle lobster that we added was a huge disappointment. It was too chewy and more room temperature than anything else (definitely not worth the price). No issues with the service by any means, as Sean and the team took great care of us. Just didn’t feel as though the experience justified having to book so far in advance and pay the steakhouse premium we did. I wouldn’t be upset about going again, but would look elsewhere next time.

Enjoyable but pricey.......

By NearRadwell |

I met a colleague for a business dinner at Steak 48. The food and service is excellent. Also a good atmosphere. A little noisy but not uncomfortable to hold a conversation. The sides are large. We could have ordered less food and would do so next time. A good selection of wines, but expensive. Overall very enjoyable but expensive. This is a place where people go to have a good meal and be seen.....

Omg... the perfect meal

By Elie A |

Can’t go wrong with Wagyu. I ordered off menu, a 12 oz. sliced medium rare Wagyu ribeye, and could cut it with the side of my fork. However, the creme de la creme was the Cream Corn Brûlée. It’s a must if you visit this wonderfully surprising gourmet gastro experience in Houston.

Ambiance = much to be desired. (1 star) or less.

By Bee, Light, Life, Soul |

We visited as a surprise gift for our anniversary. Serivece = Exelent Waiter = Exelent Food = Exelent Decoration & Setup = Exelent. Ambiance = much to be desired. (1 star) or less. If you go, please be prepared that there can be foul language with ppl that are around you, loud and almost creating a scene. Management did not approach them, I feel that they did not want to make the situation worse, given the situation I do understand. Also, if you feel you are going to an upscale, dressed to impress your partner, loved ones, and yourself. WELL.... don't be so worried. There were ppl with teesherts and no dress pants required. So, the best stake I have had in years. Most uncoverable and unpleasant dinner I have had in years. Honesty is uncountable, I needed to be honest.

Top Notch! 16 clients/ private room event

By Jennifer Whitney |

Been there many times over the years always for large client events/large group happy hours in the bar and private room dinners/and one amazing date night. This review is specifically for last night. I had To scramble to book a 16 person private room dinner with only 24 hours notice and Steak 48 delivered! Kudos to Chanall, Ursula, all the private event staff! Dealing with my company and the contract stuff so last minute and turning it around so fast was impressive and a relief!! And the event? I cannot say enough about the both the service – 5 star – please pass on my gratitude to everyone, and the 5 star food. Seriously everything was incredible! The staff was absolutely superb! I wish I could list everyone by name here but I don't have the list of them off hand. Ashley I think it was came to introduce herself and check in on everything too at the beginning and promised I was in good hands with the top notch staff which clearly I was. I appreciated that extra touch. As a comparison, this evening per a client's request we had a smaller scale event at Del Friscos and it did not even compare. I literally had to go find the staff to clear the plates after the salads, again after the entrees and again to ask for the check. I appreciate steak 48 being in top of everything! Personally the filet with blue cheese sauce, the cream corn, the raspberry bread pudding - just all WOW!!! Great job! Going back in 3 days if I can Figure out how to score a reservation!

Uncomfortable! Won’t return

By James J |

Made to stand and wait until 5 out of seven members of my party arrived. Won’t go back! Rude receptionist

Excellent service and food

Celebrating with another couple—best steak, burrata, drinks, veal chop. Ask for a kitchen table or back room for a quiet meal. Service was amazing.

Food was great, service was perfect

By Barron B |

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here Saturday. It was a great experience. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We were led to a table upstairs. I noticed the stairs appeared to be black marble and thought it was a nice look. The upstairs dining room was not large, but not too small. I would kind of say cozy. There is a small bar at the top of the stairs and the dining area was about 10 to 15 tables. The menu is large for a fancy steakhouse with a lot of options to start. We started with the pork belly. I would say it was good, but not amazing. We also had the 48 Cesear salad with the poached egg on top. This was good, but not as amazing as I thought it would be. The steaks and hassleback potatoes were pretty close to amazing though. I had the bone in Kansas City strip and it had a deliciously sear and was perfectly cooked to my requested rare plus (in between rare and medium rare). I had the truffle butter on top and that was outstanding, I could eat that all day long. The hassleback potatoes were really tasty, but I could have used triple the amount of chive cream cheese sauce they provided because it was incredible. I highly recommend getting these potatoes. I thought it would be drenched in the sauce, but it was on the side and I don't recall but maybe my wife requested in on the side. Regardless it was delicious and I wish I had more (I did not ask because we had so much food as it was). For our anniversary they provided a dessert and two small glasses of Graham's Ruby Port. They had run out of the chocolate tart we had originally ordered for dessert and that is too bad because port goes so well with chocolate. We just ended up having some berries with cream. They had some fabulous desserts on the menu, but I have a gluten allergy and my options were somewhat limited on dessert, but the rest of the menu was fairly safe for me. The service was great. The waiter was polite and knowledgeable. He also checked back with us on more than one occasion to see that we had everything we needed. My wife and I discussed this on the way home and agreed he checked with the perfect amount of times (very attentive without be invasive). The only thing I found to be less than ideal was the entry way. The door to Steak 48 is kind of small and the foyer with the hostess stand is very small. When we left we had to squeeze by some people that were entering the restaurant and that was a small group of 4 people. I just did not feel like the foyer matched the elegance of the rest of the establishment. Overall I would definitely recommend the food and the service here.

Delicious

I decided to try this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my husband. The service and food was both amazing. I will be returning later this month. The martinis were amazing as well.

Great meal and venue for a special occasion.

By Josh S |

Having just polished off the leftover filet and chocolate cake that we brought home from Steak 48 I was reminded what a fantastic meal we had the other eve. We booked a few weeks ahead, since we were a party of 6 on a Saturday eve. We were celebrating a mix of birthdays and anniversaries among the table. The resturant was made aware of our celebration when we made the reservation. The staff was very attentive with a shout out to our server Alex and his assistant also named Alex. Everything we ordered, ranging from cocktails and appetizers to the main entries and sides to the wonderful deserts, were all prepared and presented beautifully. The ambiance is also very nice so this is a great location for a special occasion. Background music was a slightly loud at first (but good) and the staff were quick to turn it down a notch when we asked. No prob at all. I would call the attire as “fashionable” - such as business casual w/ or with-out a sports coat and/or nice dress would work. Keeping with the “theme” of an attentive staff, we received a follow-up call front Steak 48, the day after our visit, to gauge our satisfaction. Really an impressive resturant! Tip - have some cash handy if using the valet parking. Also, it may be useful to review the menu and especially the extensive wine list, on-line, ahead of your visit. The wine list is nice!

Delicious

Hands-down the best steak I’ve ever had in America. I love the Ritz Carlton but the steak is actually better than any five-star resort or prime steakhouse in the country.

Best dining experiences I have ever had

By cabuilders |

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. We showed up with no reservation and ended up with a corner booth. Our server, Christina took fabulous care of my wife and I, as we celebrated our 33 wedding anniversary. We split the 22oz. bone in Ribeye and selected to have it served pre-sliced. It was incredibly tender, well spiced and ultimately delicious. Christina recommended the Corn Crème Brûlée, WOW. More like a desert. We also had the Brussel Sprouts, with nothing to write home about there. The manager provided us a desert on the house to celebrate our 33rd anniversary with it written in chocolate on the plate. It will be hard to ever beat this dining experience.

Always excellent seafood!

By great travels |

This place never disappoints!! Fantastic quality steaks and fresh amazing seafood!! Great menu! Pricey, but worth the money!! Reservations are a MUST, especially for Friday and Saturday nights. Very crowded, hip and trendy place.

Great Restaurant

By William S |

Went there for the first time to celebrate my youngest daughter's Birthday. There were three people in our party. My daughter, her boyfriend and myself. We started with an order of Crispy Shrimp and an order of Braised Pork Belly. Both were excellent! For our main course we had an 18-ounce bone in filet and two 8-ounce Wagu filets. Absolutely delicious! For sides we had Creamy Mac and Cheese, Chef Donovan's Au Gratin Potatoes and Roasted Brussel Sprouts. All were delicious! The sides are fairly large, say enough for two people so we were all able to try a little of each. Overall we had a great time. Can't wait to go back!

LONG OVERDUE

By Rose |

We chose Steak 48 to celebrate our move to St Louis from Houston. It was a sorry/sweet occasion; but one to share with our son in law. Chis, the manager, is perhaps one of the most sincere, attentive managers I've encountered in my years of dining. This evening wasn't an exception. The food is exquisite. The beet salad incomparable. Somehow, through utter exhaustion, i left my purse at the restaurant and didn't realize it until the following morning; the morning of our departure. EVERYTHING, including my passport, was in my purse. I was quite physically ill. I called thinking no one would be in until late as it was Sunday. A young lady answered and after checking said my purse was there and that I could pick it up anytime. I did immediately. I am amazed by the honesty and integrity of this establishment along with the total professionalism. I would like to beleive that most restaurants would have done the same; but somehow doubt it. Again my gratitude to Chris and his wonderful employees. We MISS YOU!!!

Always go to Papas Steak on Westheimer.... thought we would change it up! Friends and business associate raved about it...... eh! Not impressed..... probably should stick to A bar scene with good food! Sorry won’t go back!

Great food, good service, worth the price, but very loud

By utfiero |

Summary: We dined at Steak 48 while in town for a professional conference. Overall, the service was great, food was excellent, and our experience was pleasant. Only one warning- this is NOT a traditional QUIET steakhouse like Flemming’s, Morton’s, or Ruth;s Chris. This is a loud, noisy, boisterous establishment with minimal sound proofing such as carpet. So if high-volume is not your style or you plan on having an intimate conversation, consider another steakhouse. Hostess: We had reservations and were promptly seated. Ambiance: modern, classy, loud Food: We had the tomahawk pork chop, shishito peppers, and the cream corn brûlée. All were excellent and the cream corn brûlée was simply decedent and paired perfectly with the pork chop. Service: Very good service. We split the pork chop, and there were no issues with it,. In fact, our waiter served the pork chop to us on separate plates! Very accommodating. Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: above average Parking: Valet service out front. The valets work for tips.

A Must if you’re ever in Houston

By Michelle |

Had an excellent dinner it’s my adult kids and granddaughter. Our reservation was at 6:30 and they took us in as soon as we got there. Staff was very friendly and professional. Servers where very nice and informative. We started with appetizers and they were delicious. We felt adventurous and went for the Chefs PB&J and it was excellent ( you have to like Pâté ) Had salads and they were very good and the entrees were excellent. I had the special which was Red Snapper with king crab which was to die for. My daughter had a Salad along with a baked potato and my son had the in-bone filet which was very good and melted in your mouth. Not a lot of choices for younger kids so we ended up with the meatball appetizer and she loved it. The desserts are a MUST Highly suggest for all occasions

Turn up the air conditioning!

By Timothy C |

Celebrated daughter’s birthday. Thank you for complementary great tasting chocolate cake. Great steaks and sides. Two suggestions, add soups, especially French onion to menu. And turn up the air conditioning! 😓

Top Skeakhouse in Houston

By Alessio D |

High level restaurant, very beautiful location. Quality food and service truly at the top. Prices quite high but appropriate for the place

Excellent steaks but otherwise I’m not impressed

By Billnhouston2n |

We visited Steak 48 yesterday evening. First, we were seated at a very small table in an area where we could watch the waitstaff use the computers and nothing else. The steaks were incredible. The appetizer of calamari and fried shrimp was disappointing. The version served at Vincent’s is far superior. The service was adequate but not what I expected. Drinks are overpriced. For our next steak night, it will be back to Pappas Bros. I did receive a call from the restaurant today inquiring about our visit. I explained my concern about our seating and told her the steaks were great.

Business dinner with clients and friends Food is very good Meat 10/10 Athmosphere very nice good service Friendly people Nice deco

Superb Steak House (with lots of other choices)

By goalee111 |

We had a celebration dinner here and just thought it to be spectacular. Many fine choices and especially the steak choices were just exceptional. Plentiful appetizers and entrees, and the red velvet dessert is to die for! Service was continuous and high-end. Only disappointment - dinner rolls, served freshly baked in a pan, but lacked flavor. Easy to fix.

STRICT DRESS CODE ~~ Kinda

By rjstroud2954 |

We arrived at 5:00pm, found this restaurant on Trip Advisor. The door man saw us valeting our car, stopped us before we entered the front door. He told us to “wait outside for his manager to approve our attire”. My husband had been at MDA all day, and was wearing active wear. The manager came out, and started looking up and down the front, side, and back of my husbands clothes. We told the manager that we were leaving and going to Eddie V’s. The manager was very condescending, arrogant, flat rude. Trip Advisor needs to add “STRICT DRESS CODE” to their description. It is stated on Steak 48’s website ~~ however while we were being assessed as to whether we would be allowed to enter this establishment, 2 young men entered the restaurant wearing jeans, 1 had a T-shirt with tennis shoes & 1 had a button down shirt (untucked) with hey dude shoes on. Very disappointed that a restaurant at 5:00 would act in such a pretentious way, especially located 3 miles from the largest medical center in the US. Will not return to this place for any reason.

A great meal for the steak lovers out there

By efustok |

For starters if you have a reservation, come at that time, we went 15 min earlier, and the bar was full, since they are spacing people. So, we waited outside, which was fine, but just to keep in mind. We were seated in one of the back rooms, which opens up to the rest of the restaurant. I appreciated it now for obvious reasons, there were only two tables occupied other than ours. Ernest our server was excellent, went over his recommendations. The warm bread rolls are delicious, and fluffy, I could have eaten just that. I started with their Cesar salad, I loved the poached egg on top, but next time I will order it with the dressing on the side, it was a little too much for me. The rest of our party got different steaks, I got the crab and avocado stack, we all enjoyed our entrees a lot, we got the creamed corn, omg, the mushrooms, and the hassleback potatoes, all excellent. We ended with the chocolate cake and banana split, they were both fantastic. Great vibe even during covid, but I appreciated them following the rules.

Skip the creme brulee Korn and focus on the Steak

By Kerry K |

Really would be hard to beat the steaks here. Cooked to perfection. Aged 28 days. Perfect. Service top notch. Sides ok. Their big side is the creme brulee corn. It really wasn't thaaaaat good. Amazing people watching. Saw some earlier reviews said you had to valet. There is a parking garage a block away. Meal was pricey but worth it. You get what you pay for!

Service

By Phong H |

We had dinner for my son’s birthday. The place is really nice and it is full of people. Real nice restaurant. Very good service from start to finish. Just like its name, steak is thick, juicy and cook to perfection. Plenty of appetizers to choose from as well as side dishes. Will come back for sure!

Amazing

By Marcia M |

My husband had made a reservation to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, from the moment we walked in the door everyone was amazing. All staff from hostess, to waiter to food runners , seemed to love their job. The ambiance was wonderful. The food...oh my goodness the food the Corn Creme Brulee is unlike anything I have ever tasted, probably the best side dish ever tasted, the Hasselback potatoes, were amazing, crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. The steak was perfect and delicious and the Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding, outstanding...the floor manager was making his rounds making sure everyone was completely satisfied. Thank you Steak 48 for the best dinning experience we have ever had, plus a follow up phone call the next day to make sure that we enjoyed our experience. Great Job Steak 48 of Houston, great job!!

Discriminate

By yuval a |

They left us out according to the dress, when someone already inside was in shorts and we were not allowed in according to not complying with the label

Some food was a hit and miss - Service really good - but very dark!

By laurayinmay |

Steaks was ok - but we expected more for the price - The char wasn't really there and not that flavorful. Some of the sides was ok, some were too salty. The drinks was lovely the stonefruit martinis delicious. Salads was over dresses and soggy, asparagus was so stringy. Lamb chops was over cooked sadly, and the fish was not delicious at all. Over all it wasn't bad but for the quality of the restaurant the expectations of course is very high.

From service to wine to quality this place rocks! The steak was declared “divine” and the shrimp appetizer was amazing

By Jan P |

Absolutely perfect job of service and quality. From wine selection to non steak selections this place was a winner. Sides are huge and delicious. Those rolls are wonderful!

Yrs later still blahhhh

By AUSAGUY007 |

This place is very popular when it first open I don't think people really came here for the food it was more of a hangout place since then it's kind of died down but it reminds me of the old crowd of Sullivan's Steakhouse they just moved down the street would I come here for a good steak dinner and food probably not seems like more of the snobby crowd to me and people just there to get free drinks staying away from this place

Amazing Service & Excellent Food!

By Alexander S |

Great restaurant! Amazing service and also the food is great! Would highly recommend ordering the Steak that is not on the menu the waiter will know what you're talking about! It's pretty big but worth it. For dessert would recommend the red velvet.

Tasty steaks

The most delicious and tasty steak I have ever tried. Super friendly and proffessional service and magnificent environment

Inconsistency from visit to visit

By TravelNazi126 |

Took a friend to Steak 48. Their shrimp cocktail is absolutely wonderful. My friend and I both enjoyed! I had been dreaming about this shirmp cocktail since the last time I had it. My sea bass was another story. I asked for it without bread crumbs due to gluten allergy and it arrived... you guessed it with bread crumbs. The manager apologized and it went back to the kitchen for a redo. I insisted my friend eat his steak, while it was hot and after about 15 minutes he agreed. In a fine dining establishment, when mistakes like this happen, I would have expected both meals returned, so we could have dined together. My sea bass was rushed as when I received it, was barely cooked and not crispy on top, as in the past. I was a bit underwhelmed. However, am not giving up as I do love their shrimp cocktail and my friend really enjoyed his steak.

Fabulous Steak

By michael p |

The place literally reeks of quality and concern for your dining pleasure. The wait staff could not be more helpful or friendly, constantly checking on your happiness. Of course the main thing is the food and it is perfecly cooked and some of the best cuts of beef I have ever had.

Anniversary in style

By Carlos |

We celebrated our anniversary at this restaurant . The steak was amazing. Incredible flavors, tender and juicy properly coupled with Cabernet. Oysters were fresh and tasty. Service is tops . They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and at home . Complementary dessert provided for our celebration . Its pricey but you can see people in line outside waiting to be seated because it is an awesome place.

A lovely cut above the rest!

By karenstalet |

Steak in a city full of steakhouses has an expectation far beyond just the typical carnivore’s craving. The flavor, the presentation of the cut are all important factors in a dining experience. Detail and decor are a dime a dozen in any large city, the food must stand out and on its own. Every steak that was ordered at our table came as expected , every flavor was beautiful and described well before each hot plate was placed before us. The medium rare New York strip and bone in ribeyes were absolutely exceptional as far as steaks go. The light crisp outer coating of the rub blended perfectly with a red tender center providing a rich savory experience in each bite.

Pick any, they're all good.

By Aure T |

This restaurant gives me good memories of my experience at Pappas Brothers Steakhouse. The ambience is excellent, the service impeccable, and the quality of the food can only be found in very few places in Houston. This is one of a seect few places to go for meats. Our party got all kinds of meat and they were all excellent. Situated on Westhaimer inside the loop (I-610), it is close the Galleria area.

High-End Steak Restaurant

By Nupester |

Outstanding aged steak (NY Strip no bones) and sides (mashed potatoes, spinach), no doubt. Excellent character and dark ambiance. The service was topnotch. It's very expensive and you get what you pay for. Some people were dressed up but many were in golf polos (like me). Valet parking for $10.

Best STEAKS in the WORLD

By Amy G |

We had a large group of 18 for dinner at Steak 48. The service was outstanding! There was never an empty glass during the entire meal. Everyone's steak was prepared to extreme detail PERFECT! Absolutely the BEST steak I have ever had in the WORLD! Wish I lived in Houston--I would be there every night!

Fantastic

By 808Houstontraveler |

Excellent service, food, and beverages. Extensive wine list, both by the glass and by the bottle. Interesting cocktails. Fabulous steaks, but many other options as well. The side dishes (we tried the brussel sprouts and the creamed corn) were delicious and plenty to share among the 4 of us. Wedge salad and ceasar salad both got rave reviews from our group.

Consistent meal

By TravelNazi126 |

Staff did an excellent job, nicely unobtrusive. We received the quiet corner table, as requested. I soothed my "Steak 48 shrimp cocktail" craving and as always the shrimp were firm, cold and large, but not chewy. I mentioned that the fish has been a hit or miss for me and the waiter suggested I try the tuna for my entree - a wonderful recommendation. My food allergies will not allow my to enjoy beef or a lot of the vegetables, however I asked for sauteed spinach without garlic or butter and the texture and consistency was delightful. Often restaurants over salt vegetables and over cook the vegetables thus while it should be easy, alas it is not, there is an art to cooking "al dente"' kudos to the chef ! My date declared the filet mignon excellent with his paring of broccoli steamed to perfection! Nicely noted, the manager followed up the next day to ensure our visit was pleasing. I recommend!

Lots of Smoke and Mirrors

By Patrick R |

There are many steak restaurants in Houston and this is one of the better ones to enjoy an evening with your best partner. The atmosphere is top notch, the service was above par and the food was excellent with one exception. There is no steak house in Houston that can honestly say their meat is worth a $100 a plate!!! Yes, the steaks are good but the same cut of meat can be bought any day of the week at Randalls. The redfish and asparagus was very good but then again, no better than most of the seafood restaurants in Houston. Not to be missed but wouldn't make a habit of high dollar meat treat! Desert was over the top!!!!

Why? And 50 dollars later

By AUSAGUY007 |

Why did people here rate steak 48 so high... The food is average .. No flavor... There sides are expensive with no flavor.... And most people come here for drinks and not the food... If you just like to hang out then go here... Otherwise you will end up spending 50 bucks a person. Lol

Exceptional!

By Murphy20386 |

Went here for our 40th wedding anniversary and was blown away by how special the wait staff made us feel and the exceptional quality of the food. Loved every minute of our visit and will definitely go back.

4 words: Red Velvet Bread Pudding!!!!

By Lydz |

Steak48 On my way out my friend took me to this steak house he said I HAD to try! Let me just say I am thankful that he did. Everything that we ordered was absolute perfection. Flavors were so full and the dessert was AMAZING. Ok, so I ordered the petite filet medium well with the truffle baked potatoes and peppers, he had the half lobster. The food was so good that dessert was really a push because I was so satisfied. But with everything tasting so great when the waiter said we must have something I couldn't resist. They had RED VELVET BREAD PUDDING!!!!!!!! I couldn't finish it, but what I did have was so scrumptious! The ambiance was nice though I wouldn't expect it to be a place that frequents a lot of children. We sat by the bar and had great service, didn't try for a table because most were reserved. Valet parking is available and expect to pay a premium price for the food, but just know it is well worth it. I'll definitely be going back next time I'm in town!!!

Great Meal.

By kayl1234 |

Best meal in a long time. We celebrated Valentine’s Day on 2.13.24. This was our first time here. Was seated in the private room for two. The service was friendly and effective. The food was prefect! Hot and favorable. Most expensive meal the two of us have had but it was worth the price. Best steakhouse meal ever in Houston! Amazing!,

nights out

By _glbetrkkr_ |

Friends and I visited a friend who relocated from NYC to Houston. As part of our weekend trip, we visited Steak 48 to live our best lives. We made reservations for 8:15 and waited only a few moments before being seated. We all started with a round of cocktails and starters. I chose the beet salad and it was a perfect way to start our evening. Roasted, almost candied beets that contrasted with the savory goat cheese. A friend ordered the braised pork belly and really enjoyed the sweet chili sauce. For mains, I selected the scallops and friends ordered different meats (wagyu beef, ny strip, and bone-in ribeye). I didn’t taste any of the beef, but they absolutely loved it. My scallops were ok; I’ve had tastier ones from the Whole Foods frozen section. Still, the six scallops served were tasty. We ordered a variety of sides including asparagus, whipped potatoes and brussel sprouts. Note the sides are served family style. If you’re with a group, it’s worth ordering different sides and sharing. Service was exemplary. I didn’t get our server’s name, but he was hospitable, patient and attentive. Even the support staff, bussers and food runners were friendly. We paid $700 exclusive of tip. We were a group of five, but note they automatically charge gratuity for groups of 6 or more. All in all, a wonderful way to spend an evening. Pricey? Yes, but worth the splurge every now and then.

The best steak ever

Ohhh men.... the best steak ever. I had the opportunity to have dinner at steak48 and I ate a 12oz filet... simply amazing. Location was good, food excellent, waiters very kind. BTW, I strongly suggest you to visit this place.

Opening weekend of college football

By Suzanne C |

We were in town for the Ole Miss vs Texas Tech game! First time to Steak 48 and wow was it ever worth it! It is pricey but the steak was well worth it. My husband is a red meat man and has had the best of the best. He ranked his bone-in strip one of the top 5 he’s ever had. Our friend had the bone-in ribeye which he also described as fantastic. I split the crab cakes with my sister in law which was 2 large cakes. They were very fresh and delicious. We also had the fried deviled eggs( a must because we had never had) and the pork belly. Both quite yummy. Our waiter, Arthur, was friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. I had wine and was a big pour so that is always nice. Arthur, even offered a dessert on him but we were absolutely stuffed. We did have reservations but arrived a little early and were able to be seated. Hope to be that way again and will definitely go back. A must for a great steak in the Houston area.

Excellent

By Kimberly B |

Steak 48 is consistently one of the best dining experiences in Houston. The quality of service and food is absolutely top notch. I especially love the sea bass...melts in my mouth every time! The wagyu is also well worth the premium at Steak 48 compared to other places.

Super Hungry 48

By luisz246 |

Man!! I have my favorites steaks houses as Churrascos, Papas Bothers, etc. but, brother, this place is amazing!!. Wife and me never visited this venue and we showed up unannounced and the girls at the reception area told us that were not able to accommodate us because didn't have a reservation. Well, we wanderer around to know the place and suddenly one of the managers approached us and said "how can I help you? Do you want to dine here? Do you have a reservation? Our answer, yes and no. He said, we have a place behind the first floor bar, but wife said "I don't like it!!. Then, the guy said "There's upstair bar and I think can accommodate you guys sitting on the sidebar chairs there and have dinner if you like" We were very happy that this guy, from the restaurant, took extra effort to offer us a place for us to enjoy our time together, of course my wife and I. Let me tell you, we had an amazing evening. The guys, 2 bartenders, treated us as special guests, shared jokes with us, offered us special drinks, and attended us like never before. Perhaps it might sound like an exageration, but I dare you to go there and experience the ambien, the service and the food, you won't repent. I told my wife to bring our friends there to have a super time of enjoyment. Hey, challenge you!! Try it yourself or yourselves. Later, alligater!!

Great food and service in a festive atmosphere

By notula |

I've eaten at steak 48 several times - each time I look forward to my next visit. The food, atmosphere and service are that good. I like sitting in the bar area, its louder but the atmosphere is very fun and festive. the service is excellent. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgable. he went to the kitchen to answer questions when a member of our party had dietary restrictions. The drinks were great and so was the food. The crab and avocado stack was excellent, as were the crispy shrimp. The steaks were excellent and prepared perfectly. The corn creme brulee was an interesting and delicious side. Save room for desert. the very vanilla cake was amazing.

Best Steak EVER!!!

By Wendell R |

I was given a $200.00 gift certificate from a work associate, so the wife and I went for my birthday. I will say that the $200 did not cover meal, dessert, and drinks, but, again it was my birthday so the extra hundred was fine. The ribeye steak was excellent and the wife had the scallops which were also wonderful (I am told). Our waiter/personal attendant did a great job of checking on us but not being overbearing. We dined in on a Saturday night and although they were busy, we definitely received an adequate amount of attention and our food and drinks were served in a timely manner. Tried to go back last week for my daughter’s birthday, but the wife says that a 12-year-old cannot appreciate the food, so we’ll just have to have another date night soon. Also, the leftover ribeye made for an excellent omelette on Sunday morning! 😁😁

Valentine's weekend!!

By La'Cynthia J |

We had a wonderful time eating crispy shrimp and wonderfully cooked steak! Our server Harrison, was awesome as well! Next time we will try bar seating.

Delicious

By VMack |

Everything about this place was perfection. The staff is beyond friendly I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese. This is not your mothers meatloaf. It was worth every penny. The only thing I would have done differently was my drink choice. I should have went witha sweet wine. That was my mistake not the restuarant

Red Carpet Steak

By Reviews |

I would doubt you would be disappointed if you visit here unless you were not forewarned about the cost. The food is amazing, the service is, by a country mile one of the best I have seen in Houston. You get what you pay for right? If that's the case then fair enough, this is not a low budget establishment but I would say the experience is well worth it.

Great food .. good service.

By willp812 |

I thought the attention to detail with the food was excellent. Steaks were prepared perfectly. Side dishes were a little small for the price. I would definitely recommend to any of my friends visiting Houston.

Wonderful dining experience

By traveler55NM |

The food was excellent. The steaks were prepared well. The appetizers, sides and desserts were creative and delicious. We especially enjoyed the corn brûlée and au gratin potatoes as sides and the key lime dessert. Our server was outstanding as far as explaining the menu and the story behind the wine we enjoyed. The service was excellent. A special evening.

Great service, and food

By Charles V |

This was a great dinner. The location has plenty of valet parking, great ambiance and we loved the food. Before I start the portions are large so be careful.... We had the shrimp and calamari appetizer which was excellent. Served with three sauces and in a light batter. We also shared the pork belly that was on bed of spinach. The steaks were very good and served at the perfect temp. Our server was excellent unobtrusive yet ever present. We will revisit and ask to be sat in the bar section next time as it seemed very trendy and had a cool vibe. Recommended

No reservations, great experience

By TexasVacationer1 |

Had reservations for 6 but accidentally showed up one day early. Most high end restaurants require reservations so i figured we were going home without dinner. But the kind staff made sure we found a table in less than 10 minutes without reservations and the dinner and wait staff were great. Highly recommend. Steak dinner was super!

The Best Steakhouse in Houston!

By KatieA_HTX |

Steak 48 is by far our favorite restaurant in Houston! Every time we visit, the food is exceptional! However, what makes this establishment truly special is the incredible service provided by every member of the team. Tonight was no exception! We want to express tremendous gratitude for Keith and Sam’s incredible hospitality. Keith offered excellent recommendations and amazing service throughout the evening, and Sam was also always there to meet every need. They are an incredible team, and they truly made this birthday celebration unforgettable. We can’t say enough great things about Steak 48, and this is because of individuals like Keith and Sam!

Davis

By Davis journey |

Visited the restaurant for a special occasion. I was expecting a nice five star atmosphere for the price. I was very disappointed in the meal overall. The restaurant is trying too much with the menu and the appetizers. The table ordered a meat and a fish entre and we sampled both. The sea bass was bland; ( maybe incorporate a comparable sauce). The snapper was oily (?) not sure how this was prepared, but it was inedible. ( I’m not sure if it was cooked thoroughly; very disappointing) The sides were ok, but nothing special. The appetizers were not appealing either. The atmosphere was too loud and the music selection was all over the place. ( just choose one genre and stick to it ) The website states resort attire. I saw persons in attire that was very casual; ( clothing that you would run errands in on a weekend morning). Overall, I would not return, nor recommend Steak 48 for any meal. The staff were exceptional and very professional. Too bad that the food was not good at all.

Trendy but good....

By Erin D |

If you eat upstairs it is quieter. Be prepared to wait even if you have a reservation. The bar is packed but the food is really good.

Excellent Upscale Dining

By WeekendTraveler606 |

I was in Houston on a business trip, my customer set up dinner at this lovely establishment for our final meeting prior to me leaving town. Service was excellent and the food was even better. I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant, for both food and drinks. Excellent!

Great Dinner

By cokerbud |

Beautiful restaurant in an upscale area. The service was the best along with a menu that will make everyone happy. The steaks could be the best in town, the bread you will want to take home, and the sides are fantastic. The wine menu is huge and the desserts are beautiful and worth sharing.

Creamed Corn!!!

By DGardJr |

Went here for a business dinner. The steaks are prepared very well and can be dressed with crab or sauces. I chose the truffle butter...it was a good add. We had the creamed corn creme brûlée, it is addictive! Nice sweet flavor to balance a savory steak. Everything we had was on point, really liked the flashfried deviled eggs as an app too. They have valet parking which makes it convenient since it is difficult to find parking in this part of town. Enjoy!

Father’s Day dinner

Went here with expectations of not being impressed. I was pleasantly surprised to be proved otherwise. The service and food proved be stellar. Everything we ordered from appetizers to salads to entrees was outstanding. We look forward to returning and recommending.

Need a new chef. Worst meal I have ever eaten or tried to

By Mike G |

One of the worst meals I've had in years. Ordered the Iberico pork chop which was supposed to be double boned first of all it was so salty that it was inedible secondly the cook the chef whatever you want to call them cut it in half and then overcooked as well as spilled a whole salt shaker in it. You should never cut those pork chops in half it's a double bone for a reason anyhow on top of that the mushrooms the sauteed mushrooms had a salt shaker spilled in them as well and the wedge salad was one of the worst I've ever had the only thing I can say about it was the service was pretty good but that Chef actually they are in need of a new one he should not be working there

Expectations. Not as I had hoped.-

By Carole |

We celebrated my 60th birthday at this restaurant I must begin by speaking about our server Candace, who is absolutely one of the best servers I’ve ever had. We started with the pork belly, which was very tough and chewy. The bread and butter was very good. I actually forgot to take a photograph of my fillet which I was anticipating just a wonderful, tender, medium, rare steak. I was so disappointed it was very average. The sides were hit and miss. The sweet potato with a praline topping were really quite good. The brussels sprouts were nothing really to write home about and the corn was just OK. The atmosphere is beautiful. The service follow up was absolutely a five. 💥💪. They comped a dessert to bring home because we were very full and we took home what we didn’t eat we all split as we don’t eat very much, but we always tip very well. The service was the best part of my birthday meal. I truly don’t know if I would return or not great location, and valet parking was swift and courteous

Night out with friends

By JohnnyCroomes |

I am truly amazed at the food and the service we received while dining here. The first thing I was blown away with was the fresh bread that served. Next was the seafood appetizer tower that came. The oysters, crabs, shrimp, and claws were to die for. We ordered the 40 ounce tomahawk wygu ribeye bone in steak that was simply delicious and tasty. This was our second visit and it won’t be the last.

30th birthday celebration

By Lioness P |

My first time eating here for my friend's birthday. I've heard about how good the restaurant was but I do not eat red meat so I Normally stay away from steak houses. I have truly been missing out. I cant find one complaint about this place. The menu is a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion. I ordered the crispy shrimp it was soooo good. I love the parmesan rolls. The mac and cheese was reallyyyyy good too. My moscow mule was strong and good. Service was awesome out waiter Was super attentive and funny. Everything was well seasoned and tasty. For desert the recommended caramel cake was sooooo good. I can't wait for the next special occasion so I can come back here. Ill be adding steak 48 to my list of go to restaurants in Houston.

Simply Fabulous

By Speedbird ABZ |

We came across this restaurant by accident, but what a find. I was a little underdressed for the venue but no issue. The ”small” bone in filet mignon was beautifully cooled and finished with clarified butter and was ample for someone normally used to European sized portions. The corn creme brûlée was fantastic and the roasted Brussels sprouts were wonderful. You also need to have the crinkle cut fries with parmesan. Excellent food, great environment and highly recommended.

Great ambiance and delicious food

By bernardodamm |

A trendy place, with a very lively atmosphere. The quality of the food is great and there are many meat and fish options. The wine list is awesome, mainly american wines, but also international ones. A great place for a special ocassion.

Wonderful and charming restaurant. Exceptional meat. I had the 45 dry aged bone in ribe eye. There are no world to describe. Place to visit if you are in Houston.

Awesome birthday dinner!

By Lynn S |

My wife and I decided to celebrate my birthday by having dinner here. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We consider ourselves foodies and have eaten at many great restaurants across the U.S. and this would rank right up there with any of them. We arrived (valet parking is complimentary) and went inside and announced ourselves. The nice young lady who escorted us upstairs to our table (they have an elevator if you don't want to walk up a very steep flight of stairs) also wished me a happy birthday. When we got to our table, she handed me an envelope with a handwritten (and personalized) birthday card from the general manager. The waiter arrived and offered bread (two different types, we chose half and half) and took our drink order (I had a pour of George T. Stagg Jr. bourbon and my wife had a Blackberry Mint Cocktail). The waiter was pleasant and knowledgeable without being pushy or pretentious. We first ordered appetizers. We had Fried Deviled Eggs with Sriracha Aioli (we had the small order of 4, they have a larger order of 6) and Chef's PB&J (which was chicken pate with Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Both were delicious. The Fried Deviled Eggs had just a light coating on the outside. The Chef's PB&J tasted just like PB&J. Both were just very delicious. For my entree I chose a 12 oz. NY Strip cooked rare and my wife chose scallops. The side dishes are big enough to share and we chose corn creme brulee and whipped potatoes topped with crab. Make sure when the waiter offers to go over the menu to let him, because the whipped potato with crab side was off the menu and we loved it. The steak was very thick and absolutely perfectly cooked and seasoned. My wife loves scallops but I'm not a big fan, but I am beginning to realize if they are cooked right scallops are very tasty and these were perfectly cooked. After finishing as much as we could of our dinner, we let them pack up the rest in to go boxes (which we had for dinner the next day). The dessert we chose to share was Cookies and cream popcorn sundae with hot fudge. When they brought it out, it had "Happy Birthday" spelled out in chocolate on the plate. It was HUGE and we couldn't finish it all. We also had a glass each of 2012 Graham's Late Bottle Vintage which was tasty and worked quite well with the dessert. When we got our bill, they had comped the dessert. What a nice touch to make my birthday dinner absolutely perfect! This restaurant is not cheap but is worth every penny. It is not a place we could frequent but would definitely consider for another special occasion. The restaurant even phoned the next day to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. Bravo Steak 48!

Felt Discriminated

By nd1383 |

I loved this place, and the food. I always go here for my birthday dinner. But my recent visit was pretty disappointing. Don’t get me wrong, the ribeye I ordered was cooked perfectly, just as I wanted and still very delicious. Of course, the red velvet pudding as well. But the service I received from the moment I walked through the door, to picking up my order at the bar, was very, VERY disappointing and surprising. I didn’t expect that kind of treatment from the staff. no one acknowledged me when I was at the bar standing for 5-6 minutes waiting for my order. I felt I was being discriminated against because everyone else the hostess greeted. I felt maybe if I was a tall good-looking man, I’m pretty sure all the hostesses at the front would’ve said something or acknowledged me. Because that was the kind of vibe I felt when I walked in to the restaurant. Anyway, I spent my actual birthday at Roka Akor and had a very great time. I may just start going to Roka from now on since I now have a bad taste in my mouth when I think of Steak48. 😔 I will surely miss the red velvet pudding.

Great Steak House…

By Loren P |

This place was beyond good. I was expecting small portions of food and this was not the case. I took my sister here for her 50th birthday. We started with the Crispy shrimp as an appetizer. Yum yum. Then my sister got the 45 day dry aged ribeye and I selected the filet mignon. I never had a steak this good. They gave my sister the Banana split for free. I never had fried bananas before and that was amazing. I got the Key lime pie. Wowza…best one ever. For drinks my sister got the Stone Fruit cocktail which was way to easy to drink. I selected a Single Malt Scotch. They poured more than I was prepared for. Our waitress was damn good and we never had to ask for a single thing. Worth every penny.

Perfection

I don’t think I can say anything other then Steak 48 is nothing short of 5 stars. Everything from the atmosphere, service and food are excellent. I’ve now been to steak 48 twice, once for my anniversary and recently for my wife’s Birthday. Both occasions they went above and beyond to make her feel every bit as special as she is. We started with a few of the large tiger shrimp and they were very tasty with the two sauces given. I had a drink called “stone fruit” I could drink 10 of them they were so good! Now the steak, a 22 oz bone in ribeye cooked to a perfect as requested medium rare and seasoned just right. The mac and cheese I ordered as a side was delicious as well. At the end my wife even got a free birthday dessert on the house. If you have a special occasion or just want one of the best upscale meals and steaks you can get in Houston give Steak48 a try. You won’t regret it!

Steak in Houston

By Sanjay T |

Was recommended this by a friend. Very up market but had a causal feel. I was in shorts and a linen shirt. Great wine list including some really decent Argentinian reds. I went for the Aussie Wagyu which was unbelievable. The chef had seared it to perfection with the meat still very pink. My friend had the Chilean Sea Bass and I grabbed a bit of this. The fish was very soft and the sauce delicious. All round a very nice experience.

Great Food and Bar Service

By trkramer527 |

If you've been to B-19 in Houston, Steak 48 is like it's slightly classier older brother or sister. The atmosphere is super sexy and it's a great place for people watching while In Houston. We ate at the bar because the tables were packed. The cocktails were fantastic and the food was delicious. It's pricey, but well worth it. If I'm ever back in Houston, I will definitely be making a stop here for sure.

Pricy and worth it

All through professional. The steak was perfect and sides were great. You get value for money. A true experience to remember.

Never fails...

One of my favourite haunts in Houston, however Saturday night in January was quiet - don’t know why? Engaged conversation with the barman and mentioned it was quiet - he got really defensive!! Strange. Is it on the way out? I sincerely hope not...

top notch

Birthday Dinner “ Beat Steakhouse I have ever visited”

By Tiffany Chyvonne |

This was an amazing steakhouse from the service to the meal was outstanding. I do not think there are enough words to describe. I indulged in rock shrimp, steak, sweet potatoes & asparagus. The staff was amazing they made you feel as though your were the only one there. This will definitely be my stop every time I am in town. Steak 48 is a very classy and upscale restaurant, there is a dress code but it’ is all worth the experience.

Excellent Food

By ChrisCDC |

This restaurant came highly recommended for a high quality steak. We did not pre-book and were very lucky to get a table, it was very busy. The staff were all pleasant and did their best to encourage us towards the more expensive wagu beef options. We avoided that and were not disappointed at all, the food was excellent. Certainly more expensive than the other restaurants we visited on our 6 day trip to Houston but I do recommend it.

Great for date night or special occasions

By MsWowo |

We (my husband and I) had an early reservation, around 5:30, so the restaurant was fairly quiet and they sat us in a corner booth. The lights are dim and it is a relaxing setting early. The waiter and staff were attentive and helpful with the menu as it was our first time there. They serve buttery garlic rolls in a skillet as a first course. They were warm and tasty. We ordered the crab and avocado stack appetizer. It tasted fresh and the sauce was a remoulade style. I preferred the appetizer sauce, also to dip the aparagus fries, which were made tempura style. Finally, we had the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, which were tender, and perfectly cooked, just the right size to split as we had the other courses before. I am not a big fan of anything fried, so I didn’t especially care for the asparagus, but always willing to try something new. Overall a great date night experience!

Wonderful meal

By txdine |

The whole meal was excellent. An outstanding time was had by all in our party. Two improvements are needed: 1) Gelato needs to be colder and more frozen 2) Number of lavatories are inadequate for number of dinners at this location.

Never fails...

Yet to find a better eating place in Houston. It may exist I just haven’t found it. Amazing people watching too -

We sat at the bar and were well attended by our waiter who was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and the wine - the food was delicious but pricey. Great for a special occasion

Nice dinner out

By Samantha R |

I had dinner with a girlfriend at Steak 48 Friday night. The place was crowded and loud, but that was expected. We had a 7:15 p.m. reservation. I love that most people come dressed very nice and it's a great place to see the beautiful people of Houston out and about. Unfortunately, some people do not know how to dress for a place as upscale and fabulous as this and I wish the restaurant would bar entry to anyone not well dressed. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was very good. The pork belly appetizer is probably the best I've ever had. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The cocktail and wine selection are awesome. This place in pricey, but the food and service make you feel good about the price tag.

Nice Beef

By Roy R |

I had the pork belly as starter and the Wanguu meat. Both were really nice. The price for the Wanguu wasn't that bad, but 9 bucks for fries.... The waiter was really nice but not to nice. Recommend this if you like beef.

Very nice new and place to be seen

By SwimSoccerMom |

Relatively new in a new shopping center so the bar is the place to be seen. Dining rooms thoughtfully designed for a feeing of intimacy and you can actually hold a conversation. Kudos for design, comfort and praise black napkins for women like me that nearly always wear black and hat white fuzz from cloth napkins. Food was very good, bone in ribeye highly recommended. So tender you could cut the meat with your fork. Whipped potatoes very good and caramel cake for dessert. Service is excellent. Only go if you are not budget minded.

Super Steaks

By NICOLAS R |

I just had American Wagyu steak and a green salad. Therefore, I can not judge the vast menu they offer. However, I would say it is one of the best steaks I ever had. A medium rare Rib Eye Wagyu steak tasted like heaven. Regarding flavor, taste and texture, superb!

2nd take - resetting expectation, wonderful!!!

By Bee, Light, Life, Soul |

2nd take - resetting expectations. After speaking with the GM, and having the opportunity to re-visit our experience. We had dinner on 10/28/2023 for my husband's birthday. Ambiance - 10 / Security - 10 / Service - 10 / Food- 10. They added a security detail at the entrance and thus made a noticeable difference. Since then we have recommended the dining experience at least 10 more ppl. Exceptional adjustments that add value, security, and quality to the full dining event. Thank you for becoming one of our favorite fine dining establishments. B. Munoz

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 6 Gold Stars

Tuesday night, reservations for 3 at 6:00. Complimentary Valet parking (Tip at Departure). To Die For: Wagyu Butchers Cut Ribeye Crispy Shrimp Appetizer Pork Belly Appetizer Red Velvet Bread Pudding Corn Brûlée Everything else was simply excellent. Service by Ernest - prompt, with great suggestions. Support by the rest of the staff - excellent. Full mixed drink and wine offering. The dining areas are not extremely noisy, like some restaurants- you can hold a conversation at a normal volume. Must go back.

BEST STEAK IN HOUSTON

By Mueller1500 |

My husband and I have been here two times now and we are blown away by the filet each time. You could cut it with a fork it is so tender! All the food is incredible and so is the service, they also have an extensive wine and drink list. Only negative was it was VERY loud and i could barely hear my husband talking to me without him raising his voice Maybe it was just a crazy night due to it being around Christmas.

Dinner was divine

By Love2Travel26x2 |

Ambience here is a bit pretentious and service was initially slow...stopped in the bar lounge for a pre-dinner cocktail and waited 20 minutes for someone to approach us, to spite there being numerous employees chatting amongst themselves. Sat at a table for dinner and found service there to be much better. And the food was absolutely delicious. Recommend the NY strip steak and sautéed broccoli with whipped potatoes.

Nice dinner

By SierraToGo |

Very nice restaurant with excellent service. Was a little surprised how casually dressed most people were. Food was great.

Disapointment

By Tim R |

While the food and dining service was very good, the atmosphere left something to be desired. After reading the dress code we thought we were headed for an elegant holiday dinner. Once in the Bar, we stood for 15min with no service, looking at all the printed t-shirts, ball hats and ripped jeans, moving to our table we had a view of the same bar and a table next to us vaping full on. I asked the manager why the dress code was not supported, she advised they try to accommodate everyone, what is the point of a dress code then? We spent a great deal of money and traveled to Steak48 and wasted our evening. If you're looking for refined dinning try someplace else.

Fantastic service for party of 9, but ...

By Kate A |

We arrived a few minutes late for our reservation and they gave our table away. But they replaced it within 15 mins with a great table in a great location, where it was easy to hear everyone and we got to enjoy the sun until it went down. We had really really good service and they comp’ed the appetizers which was a nice gesture. We tried every app and they were all great. I had snapper for my main and it was okay, all the sides and steaks were delicious too, especially the bone-in ribeye. We will go back.

Always amazing!

By 123sade |

I will just get to the point anything you order will be great. My favorites are: tuna stack, salmon, king crab legs, brussel sprouts, mac n cheese, prime rib. The service and ambiance are top tier!

Pricey but worth it! Service is awesome!

By N S |

Came here for a mid-week dinner with colleagues; we didn’t have reservations but were able to get a table without much of a wait for one around 7pm. First off, I found it odd that they “required” a phone number from one of us, but as it turns out, it’s so they can call the next day to follow up and see how our visit was. Looking at the menu, it was a good thing this dinner was a business trip and would be covered by work. It is pricey and we did notice that most people around us were there for a special occasion. The four of us all opted for steaks: 22oz bone in ribeye, 12 oz filet mignon, and 2 x NY strips. For sides, we had the au gratin potatoes, sauteed asparagus, and sautéed sweet corn. I had the NY Strip with foie gras on top, ordered medium well. I usually order my steaks medium, but since they undercook their steaks here, I was advised to go with medium well. My steak (at the ends) hovered between medium and medium well. The centre was a little more rare and I would say was between medium rare and medium - no red juices when I cut into it so it was perfect for me. The asparagus were pretty plump and cooked perfectly. The other side dishes were okay - nothing really stood out. My colleague who ordered the other NY Strip. We noticed his steak was a little smaller than mine and now looking at the menu, I believe he must have ordered the 12 oz instead of the 16oz. Also, he ordered his medium well, however his came out on the well done side. When he mentioned it to our waiter, his steak was swiftly taken away before he even knew it and was told they’d take care of it for him. A new plate was brought out for him so he could eat some sides/bread while he waited. They brought him out a new (bigger) steak and it was cooked to the correct doneness. Not only that, they brought out brand new side dishes as well - all on the house. They even gave him a free dessert which he chose from the menu (not one they picked out for him for free). We believe that they truly did not want us to leave unhappy and we appreciated it. Dessert was the vanilla caramel cake and it was a delicious end to dinner. Unfortunately we were all so full that the four of us didn’t even finish the dessert. We had made the mistake on filling up on the bread - next time, limit the bread intake. Overall, the steaks are awesome and the service is great. Prices are steep, but if/when I’m in town in business again, would definitely return!

Amazing Meal

By Cory L |

Simply perfection. Prime ribeye was masterfully seasoned and cooked to perfection. I would have chewed on the bone like a dog if I didn't have a little respect for myself. Sweet corn creme brulee and the au Gratin potatoes were delicious. The waiter suggested a Walnut 48 old fashioned to complete the meal and it complemented it perfectly. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Highly Recommend.

Top 5 best steakhouse in Houston

By Natasha G |

We didnt have dinner reservations on a Sunday day around 5ish pm so we went to the bar area there were some empty bar tables, plenty of seats at the bar. Which was surprising, this place is always packed (in a good way) the food is always so good melts in ur mouth. Everything on the menu is good. And the customer service is fast and nice.

BUSINESS DINNER PARTY

By Suzy O |

WOW, You can’t go wrong with choosing Steak 48’s AMAZING Menu, where the seen and be seen show up on any given weekend. The reason for that it is so great is the menu is beyond your wildest dreams. Fabulous steaks of course, but the seafood tower appetizers are the BEST in town. The wine list is amazing and service 5 Star!

Great business dinner

By TicTac711 |

Great business dinner experience. The restaurant, atmosphere and service was great. Johnson our main server was amazing. My steak was huge and tasted amazing. The appetizers and sides were amazing too. I recommend the corn creme brulee... very good. I would recommend coming here even if its only one time for the experience.

So disappointed

By Rodrigo V |

Had the very bad experience. I was with my 70 year old parents. My mom started feeling dizzy. But we were ok. However the manager decided it was time to not give us anymore wine so the 1000 usd spent on wine was destroyed. My father was having such a great time as it was his invitation to splurge for his first time concert for Rolling Stones. So disappointed my friends on the chamber of commerce of Houston’s and Latin American chamber will never go back to this place

Great food, see-and-be-seen crowd

By jazzzitravels |

Perfectly cooked thick tender steaks, succulent lobster, fruity superfood salads, Alaskan King Crab & rock shrimp mac & cheese, smoky charred roasted brussels sprouts, and chocolate cake. Everything was rich, flavorful, and smelled and tasted amazing! Say "yes" to warm cheesey bread and black truffles on your lobster! Be aware the Coke is in bottles and $3.50 a pop. This place is for special celebrations, upscale date nights, well-heeled socialites, and expense account crowds. Lots of beautiful people dressed to impress. Free valet and garage parking for fancy whips. Steak 48 is what Ruth Chris wished it could be in high school. Impressive.

Quintessential steak

By William D |

Steaks probably couldn't come much better. Cooked to perfection with a beautiful char served sizzling. Nice atmosphere with valet parking. Impeccable service. Would certainly go back. Note: would stay away from Doris Metropolitan Steakhouse. Pitiful by comparison.

Best Steak in Houston

Steak 48 has a great atmosphere, great service, and amazing food!! Highly recommend the seafood tower and the KC strip “farina style.” Excellent experience overall.

Love this place. Top Houston steakhouse

By NRS2011 |

Steak 48 is fantastic. I dine here every few months and have celebrated last 2 birthdays here. Service is great, very attentive, and friendly. Food is divine, wine and cocktail selection is great. The filet with the seared fois on top is pretty much one of the best things I've ever eaten. Really feels like an upbeat and lively scene (but not too lively to be annoying during dinner) and a great night out. I recommend this place to everyone.

Valet damaged my car!

By Kiera M |

If you value your car, do not valet park here! My brand new BMW was damaged while in the possession of valet. The valet company, ABM services the entire River Oaks area. ABM does not have insurance and will deny every claim! There is no surveillance outside of Steak 48 to prove damage was done while in their possession. There is absolutely no investigation, nor is a third party involved. The managers of ABM, Erik Panchano and Jesus Mercado are scam artists, unethical and unprofessional! They do not represent River Oaks well and should be fired! River Oaks area should replace them for a more qualified, established company to manage cars of patrons. Don't trust these guys with you car!

Omg. Best food.

By Alice K |

I can’t say enough Of how great our food was. Really enjoyed the service, attentive and great people watch.

Awesome in every way, be nice if their wine margins were a little more in line

By ArCDawg |

By far one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. You could go back many times and have several dishes that based on our sampling of two good blow your mind. Mains were great, but the sides were even better. One small detraction, and if you don't drink wine, not much of one, but the markup on the wine is above average even for great restaurants. Of course, the wines on offer--even by the glass were outstanding. Will definitely return.

Damn!

By timv0960 |

What an experience. I was like, OK, another corporate expense account supported steakhouse. But, NO! Everything about this place is top notch. A level above. I guess they have to be. Competition is tough in Houston. My co-worker and I met up with 2 of our customer's visiting from out of town. They were equally impressed. We had an incredible appetizer of crab legs and lobster claws. Sum Beach! And don't even forget the deviled eggs. Hot Damn! Then came the steaks and side dishes. OMG. Some of the best I've ever eaten. Dessert was off the chain! I was stuffed until noon the next day. WOW Try this place. You WILL NOT be dissapointed. Promise.

Needs more presentaion

By Scott L |

Much hipe and very expensive, but food was no better than less expensive restaurants. Slapping a piece of meat on a plate with no presentation or greenery is just plain lazy. The dishes are very expensive and should look like it. I will say the staff was very professional.
