This week our family had a wonderful dining experience at Stella as one part of celebrating my husband's 70th - blocks away from where he came into this world. We had the amazing setting of being in the outside courtyard/patio area. It was magical. Because of it being a special occasion I had contacted the restaurant manger, Jason, earlier with a couple of special requests. He was so responsive to those requests and he and the wait staff bent over backward to make the evening perfect, from beginning to the end. We tried many of the different small plates to share as starters. The cod fritters were incredible, the asparagus and heirloom tomatoes with burrata - Yes! as well of the octopus which was delicious. I loved that there were so many sides that could be added to the table - mixed nuts, olives, bread, fried - something for every one and at a price point that seemed very fair. The vegan amongst us loved the radiatore and cauliflower entrée. Others at the table went for the scallops and gnocchi - perfection. The desserts finished the meal in the sweetest way you'd ever want - exceeding expectations. We will definitely be back - can see this becoming a place of choice - if just wanting to share wine or a cocktail and a few small plates and sides or going for a full dinner experience. A huge shout out to Mitch our server and Jason and the rest of the staff present at Stella for being so present and helping make our rare adult family time a very special evening.

I had such a lovely experience at Stella. The restaurant has a beautiful outdoor patio and the food and cocktails were delicious! I had two wonderful starters, the truffle fries, and an interesting and creative vegan entree. The staff is so welcoming and made it such a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Stella a perfect evening!

Two friends and I came here for lunch. It was a lovely Seattle day and we were able to sit outside in the courtyard. I had a great chicken salad. Our waitress was welcoming and friendly. We all enjoyed being there.

Family visit, record breaking heat in Seattle, 2&4 year olds didn’t handle it well. Server Joe AMAZING, manager&staff AWESOME. The burgers and fries were so good! Joe and the team really helped us out and the food and drinks just added to the great time.

The food was amazing and the drinks were great. Our only qualm was the service. Our server was Elijah. While he was very knowledgeable about the menu, he was incredibly rude to us. To list just a few examples of his blatant distain for our presence in the restaurant, he asked if we needed boxes while we were still eating our dinner. He asked if we would like to see a desert menu, and when we answered in the affirmative, he brought our checks instead of a menu. When we asked for the checks to be split, before ordering our meals, he replied “don’t you have venmo?” It’s important to note the menu specifically indicates checks can be split. When he was helping a friend of mine select a cocktail from the menu, she told him she usually orders a Sex on the Beach when she goes out, to give him an example of the type of drink she enjoys - fruity. Despite her obviously providing him an idea of her palette, he responded “you can’t order something like that in a place like this or I’ll need to ID you.” We got dinner at 7pm, the restaurant was nowhere near closing and it was virtually empty. We are not “trashy” people, we were dressed well. Among our table of 4 was a nurse, a supervisor, a cook and a lawyer. The food was incredible but we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience, Elijah was condescending and made us feel as though we didn’t belong. I have never written a review for any establishment, but the service we received was so shockingly repugnant that I felt it was necessary.

What a like find after attending mass at St James Cathedral! Service was wonderful…. Food was delicious! We sat on the patio….. lovely!

We had a lovely early dinner on the patio of the Sorrento Hotel. Nice setting on a hot day! Good advice on our menu selection. The food and the service was excellent.

Gorgeous and delicious appetizers and cocktails! Friendly staff and beautiful setting for outdoor dining in Seattle.

Tried the 3-course meal with fondue. The soup was lukewarm and watery. The fondue was served with cold meatballs and chicken skewers straight from the frozen isle. The dessert consisted of Hershey’s chocolate and Reece’s pieces. Just overall sad.

We are so happy that Stella Restaurant has reopened! We were pleased to invite friends to dine with us at Hotel Sorrento's Outdoor Dining Patio and enjoy delicious appetizers, cocktails, cuisine, and desserts. Some of our favorites were: Capri Sunshine Cocktail, Cod Brandade Fritters, and Spice Crusted Pork Chop with Braised Cabbage & Apples. Stella ~ we will be back soon!

We stayed at the Hotel Sorrento for two weeks in June 2021, right after their post-pandemic re-opening. We ate at Stella for dinner once, and visited for drinks and snacks several times. Food - Our dinner was delicious. We came in on a rainy night and both ordered pasta (perfect comfort food on a blustery evening). I believe the pasta is made fresh in house (it was great quality) and the sauces and accompanying sea food were exceptionally good. The wines we got were also lovely. Ambiance - Both the main restaurant and the fireside room are very cozy. The hotel was built in 1908 and the details are very pre-prohibition posh. If you come on a warm night, their is also outdoor patio seating. Service - The service was very attentive. They struck the perfect balance of being friendly and unobtrusive. Over the course of the stay we chatted with the wait staff and restaurant manager a few times and they were all very kind and happy to give recommendations for other Seattle spots. In future visits to Seattle we hope to visit Stella again. Thanks!

A family member was taking a group of us to celebrate two birthdays on a beautiful summer night. Upon arriving, the parking attendant was nowhere to be found. When checking in we learned the person taking our reservation did not write it down even after two calls to finalize the time. Our host had planned a special evening outside but we had to sit in the somewhat darkened restaurant instead of outside as planned. She was very disappointed after having planned a lovely night out for all of us. No one seemed very apologetic beyond a “I’m sorry”. We used to eat here all the time and the way this place used to be run is now apparently the past. The food was ok but not the quality it was in years past when The Sorrento meant real quality. I guess those days are gone. I know restaurants and all businesses are having trouble finding good help. Covid has taken a real toll on every facet of business. The staff did the best they could. I guess nothing will ever be the way it used to be so we have to get used to it. All in all it turned out ok and they did do a comp on the dessert as a final gesture.

Visited 4 weeks after Stella's post-pandemic relaunch under a brand new team. Fantastic! Food was superb (no surprise from anyone whose dined with Carolyn Spence before). The patio is a great place to dine on a summer evening. Staff was discretely attentive and VERY welcoming. Highly recommended: Cod Brandade Fritters - light and delicious. Scallops - always done well, succotash pairing a superb choice for a summer evening. Steelhead & asparagus - two items that are notoriously easy to over or undercook both done perfectly. "Ode to Toklas" chocolate pot au creme is a treasure hunt of a dessert.

We had brunch at Stella's ... our waiter was very helpful and accomodating. Their fries were very tasty!

Three of us came here for lunch and two of us ordered the Reuben sandwich, which was a special on the menu. The meat was tough as shoe leather. My friend ended up removing her meat from the sandwich, cutting it into tiny pieces and then eating a bite of the sandwich with each small piece of meat. I gave up on mine after a few bites and took it home. Mine came with a salad which was fine. On the plus side, our waitress was good and having overheard us mention that one of us was celebrating a birthday that day, brought a nice, complimentary dessert with three spoons!

We were lucky to dine outside. Was special because the weather was fantastic and I was with my beautiful wife of 42 years. Service was excellent but they were short staffed a little. Nice seafood options plus old school Italian.

We live just a few blocks from the Sorrento, so were thrilled when they reopened their restaurant as Stella. The atmosphere is similar to prior iterations of the restaurant, although a bit less stuffy than the old Hunt Club space. We like to sit in the bar, which is a great spot for people-watching. The staff is friendly and attentive. Drinks come out quickly and are really great. Have now tried almost everything on the menu, and have never been disappointed. We especially enjoy the cod fritters, the pork chop and the pasta dishes. I do hope that they will make occasional changes to the menu, it's been the same for at least the past 6 months. Overall, would definitely recommend, and as neighbors, we'll be back!

I choose the frisée salad and opted for the addition of chicken. (this added $7) The basic salad was delicious, but the chicken was dry. Our waiter was professional and welcoming. We sat in a comfortable booth in the bar.
Lovely dining on outdoor patio at The Sorrento Hotel
Just a short walk up the hill from the waterfront (you'll feel it afterwards!), this delightful little garden patio at the Sorrento Hotel is a nice place to enjoy dining outdoors. A new chef with an innovative menu (asparagus with heirloom tomato salad, goat cheese crostini and greens, arancini marinara and more!) that was visually appealing and tasty. Service was attentive and pleasant all around.
