Amazing visit

By Ryan G |

I'm not necessarily the biggest tea fan but I loved the tasting we did at the tea room. All the staff were very knowledgeable and friendly and for only $10 the tasting is a must do in Portland.

Tasty Teas

By wohdonkey |

We stopped here to try different teas. We were glad we were able to sample some. We got a flight of four different teas. It came with a cups of tea and biscuits. It also came with cards to describe the tea and tea for smelling. It was a fun experience. They have different teas and items for purchase. A lot of places around town also sell this brand of tea so it’s easy to find if you don’t stop here. They have indoor seating as well as a patio and parking right in front of the building. Staff was helpful in choosing teas to try. Our favorite tea was the Rose City Genmaicha.

Great Selection of Teas on Tap

By Judith N. |

The boyfriend and I were visiting Portland and decided to do a coffee tour with Third Wave Coffee Tours. This was the second stop during the tour. We had the chance to sample a variety of tea-infused kombucha! We had the chamomile flowers, strawberry honeybush, the nitro chai, and one of their seasonal herbal infusions called the meadow kombucha. All were truly delicious and we found the concept of tea-infused kombucha remarkable! The place was clean and neat. It was awesome to see all their tea selections, especially their featured tea latte, the mocktails, and teas on tap. They also sold resting chocolates which are woodblock chocolate scented with tea using the art of enfleurage. I did not see any vegan food options though which I found rather displeasing.

Off the beaten track

We are doing Portland by public transportation, and getting to the tea room involved walking through some sketchy areas. However, once there, the experience was lovely. I described the teas I like and areas I'd like to explore. They suggested teas to taste from dozens of options. The teas were all well prepared, smooth and aromatic. The tasting room is airy and well lit. Very pleasant and relaxing experience.

Great selection of Smith Teas

By Bryan H |

At most coffee shops in Portland that carry Smith's tea, it is the usual five or so same tea choices. When I heard about the newish Tasting room in SE Portland, I was curious what they would have to offer. They had a huge selection of teas -- which can be made hot, iced or as lattes. Service is friendly and solicitous, the ambiance middle class chic. There's some seating outside, some inside as well. Parking is free on Washington. Just pull up outside the Tasting room. You can watch the workers boxing tea behind glass. There are also office spaces on both sides of the Tasting Room, which can be a bit distracting as people come and go. If you are exercising along the riverfront (walking, biking or running), you might want to take a pit stop at the tasting room. Oh, I didn't see much to eat when we went at 1:00 pm on a Friday. But, there's a great gift selection if you want to take home a little something special for a loved one!

if you like tea, this is a must

Seemed a little far from downtown but we took the streetcar and it was fast and easy to get to. Well worth the trip, their tea flight was very unique and thoroughly enjoyable. We ended up buying a lot of their tea and really enjoy it, its very close to a few distilleries as well so you can continue on!

Not your mother's bag of tea.

A wonderful little out of the way tasting room. During the week you can watch the production through the glass walls behind the bar. In an industrial area, on the weekends you can just chill and enjoy the quiet. I love that you can get flights of tea so you can try different blends. They also have a selection of tea drinks available. All their teas are available for purchase along with tea accessories. The staff are very knowledgeable and make it a pleasant experience. I warn you that once you have tried these teas you will be hooked. Not an economical tea, but that will not matter once you have tasted them. Did I mention I did not like peppermint or chamomile tea? That is because I hadn't yet tried Steve Smith's versions. Meadow (chamomile), Peppermint Leaves and Astoria's Amaro are some of my favorites.

Delectable selections and amazing innovations

What an incredible find! Mind boggling array of beautifully crafted specialty teas plus all the “known” varieties but done with a personalized twist. Hugely aromatic and colorful. The big surprise was their Nitro Chai and Sparkling Strawberry Honeybush teas on tap! Incredible taste and a lifesaver to we who love low sugar refreshing beverages. Very clever idea and we WILL return with a growler. We popped in as an “after our meal” peak about and only sampled when we returned home. I admit to being a tea Philistine with a palate ranging from Twinings Ear Grey to Chinese Restaurant Jasmine but their Lord Bergamot from our “choose your own” sampler certainly got my attention. Lovely and as smooth as their charming teabags make from mesh fabric. I feel quite the Queen with my cup of tea.

Loved It!!!

Always the best!! And nitro CHAI. OMG. Today two for the road in our own cups and a four-pack to go. I had Kombucha on tap and hubby his fav Nitro Chai. We drive here from Ventura California and get so excited for the best Chai ever. Sweet young woman helped us. She’s a great personality to serve you. We will be back as always!

This place had so many great teas, I went back 3 times

If you like tea - really like tea, than this is the place for you. VERY high quality teas, and a tasting area where they're very generous with their samples. I was very impressed... Easy parking too... I'll for sure go back next time I'm in Portland, and they do ship teas as well...

Lovely Hip Tearoom in the Heart of Portland

By Sandy D |

Smith Teamakers has two tasting rooms in Portland. We visited the one in SE Portland to satisfy our curiosity, and were pleased with the experience. When we walked in, the aromas of fragrant teas filled the room, and even though I am not a tea drinker (I prefer coffee), I was excited to try some of their teas. My husband ordered a flight of four teas for $10, and it came promptly to our table. The server explained the procedure (slurping helps aerate the tea!) and left us to our tasting. I have enjoyed chai teas, but found the Red Nectar herbal infusion to be smooth and satisfying. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who is vaguely interested in tea tasting. Their selection is enormous!

Excellent tea

This is such a fun place to check out if you are a tea drinker. They have sampler flights which allow you to taste various teas. They also have a small selection of pastries to choose from. The tea here is very good, my favorite was the Portland Breakfast.

My favorite tea did not disappoint

By Nina S |

I am a fan of smith tea since I first had it back in 2015. We visited their NW Thurman location then. I drink it every day. So, naturally, I wanted to visit their tasting room location. The visit went great. I tasted Nitro black tea and chai and CO2 honeybush plus something. Can’t recall. I also ordered Nitro black tea and stayed to drink it. They have a nice cafe and a good selection of teas for purchase. You can select single tea bags to make a sample. This is what I did.

Expensive but worth it

This was a trendy spot we found by mistake. They had reserved parking which helped in this neighborhood. Service was very friendly and they explained the offerings. Local jam for the scones and bread was the best I have ever had. Overall yummy.

Delightful Tea Experience

By CPG3 |

This Tea Room is located next to the headquarters building for Steven Smith Teamakers. The Tea Room offers a tasting experience, as well as several teas for sale that are hard to find in most stores carrying Steven Smith Tea. Best of all, the teas themselves, which are so good they defy accurate description. In addition, the people working there make the whole experience even more delightful. This is a real gem in an out of the way place.

Wonderful tea service

By Lafemmeavecchiens |

Great introduction to some pretty great tea! Pick 4 teas from a vast menu to try for $10. It was enough for three people to enjoy. We selected a green, black, oolong, and herbal. Staff is knowledgeable and shared information about tea varieties.

Wonderful Experience

By Rosie L |

With so many things to do in Portland, this is a great addition that I would highly recommend. Go during the week if possible to actually see the production line from the tea room. There are flights of delightful teas as well as individual tea inspired drinks. This location is in the close in east side that has some delightful finds. There is a great selection of teas and accessories to purchase. A nice change to the coffee choices.

Time Out for Tea

We experienced a delightful time at the tea room and received excellent service from the staff. It was so enjoyable sitting and sipping a variety of teas. We will definitely return in the future.
