I walked past this place by accident and happened to read a review of the food in the window, the review was glowing about the traditional Russian food on offer including the Russian dumplings and the many soups and appertizers on offer. The review was spot on. I ordered the split pea and ham soup, which came with bread, and croutons on the side. The soup was perfectly balanced - not salty, but with the perfect amount of ham and peas. The portion was perfect and I could have eaten all of it, but was worried about leaving room for the next course. Next up were the traditional Russian Dumplings, which are served in a broth, with sour cream (cream)? On the side in a gravy boat. The dumplings were plentiful and very tasty - I couldn't finish the plate, even though I wanted to. The service, well it was grim. The people barely spoke to me and were definitely Russian. What I liked about it - traditional. What I didn't like - they were a bit rude. But it was also kind of amusing and didn't really bother me that they gave me no attention other than take my order and deliver the food. I would go back in a heart beat. Fantastic food but don't expect a warm welcome or a polite smile from any of the team. Well worth the trip if your near Coney Island or Brighton Beach NY.

I had dinner with friend. To much people drink alcohol, it was very noisy. Meet was not good, soup - it’s ok, not bad. Salad - 50/50. Not recommended

THE FOOD IS VERY TASTY, THANK THE CHEF, THE WAITERS ARE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL. BUT THERE'S A BLONDE WOMAN STANDING ON THE DOOR, AND HER NAME HAS A HUMAN TASTE. SAYING SHE'S RUDE AND RUDE IS NOTHING TO SAY. READING THE REVISION OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT, I SAW HOW MUCH BAD REVIEWS THIS BLONDE WOMAN HAD. IT BEGS THE QUESTION TO THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT, WHAT REASON TO KEEP SUCH A FEMALE EMPLOYEE,{ A STRIKER OF COMMUNIST LABOUR}??? WHEN I TOLD MY FRIENDS, I FOUND OUT I WASN'T ALONE DOUBTING SHE WAS IN HER PLACE. As a former Russian citizen, I love Russian food in all its glory and shapes. Unfortunately, good Russian cuisine is hard to come by. "Stolovaya" is just the place to satisfy all your Russian food needs. They make their own pelmeni and vareniki, which are glorious, have soups, salads, kvas, blinchiki, and pretty much anything you can think about when you must have that delicious piece of heaven. The service was extremely attentive and pleasant, food came fast (and disappeared fast), and the prices were more than reasonable! Definitely a keeper, don't miss!

Usually , when we come to Stolovaya we always have good time, Andrew manager in this place always take care us very well, food is always fresh!!! Good location

We went for lunch. The food delicious,the service great.Every dish you order it’s fresh and tastes great.

Besides not knowing that borshch and French fries are not “authentic russian cuisine”, this diner had horrible service.

Came for dinner, food was great. So fresh, authentic Russian cuisine. We had fried flounder with buckwheat and traditional fried whole chicken with garlic. YUMMY! Very simple place, great for a quick stop & tasty bite. Good for lunch/dinner.. not fancy!

You will be right at home if you are Russian. The menu, waiters, and customers are all Russian, yet we managed and they were kind. It’s a great scene: a Russian diner. Our pelmeni and cheburek were perfect, light wrappers with flavorful meat fillings. I could make my whole meal of these. My husband had short ribs with beans. The ribs were plentiful and well stewed with Lima beans (disappointed husband thought they would be sauced brown beans) and I had chicken tabaka. This chicken was almost inedible. I have had this dish elsewhere when it was a delicious pounded, flattened, grilled chicken. This one was rubbery and tough. I took it home and ground it up to make a spread. Still, I would go back and have several appetizers, avoiding the “meat and potatoes” options. The prices are LOW. it’s worth going a few times to find out what you like and what you don’t.

Great food and affordable prices! Leave nearby and often order a pick up there! Sometimes even my visiting friends first thing they do is go there to eat! Очень вкусная еда и за приемлемые цены! Советую!

They advertise themselves as “authentic russian cuisine” when most of these dishes aren’t russian. Gross.

The restaurant offers wide variety of the dishes pertaining to the Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian... cuisines at very reasonable prices. Food tastes as if it is made by your grandma or mama bringing people who were brought up in the Soviet Union to their childhood. Even American born generation (not only with "soviet" roots) also enjoys the food and discovers new tastes and cuisine solutions. The place is decorated as a Soviet "stolovaya" (diner). If you are accompanied by a Russian speaking people they would definitely give you great introduction into what each dish is about.

The food at Stolovaya was delicious! I especially enjoyed the Chicken Tabaka. They have excellent authentic cousine with reasonable prices. The service was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, I look forward coming here everytime and would definitely recommend this restaurant
