Going downhill

By franksatthelake |

I have visited this restaurant just about every time that I have been in San Antonio. ....always have enjoyed the large menu of reasonable quality food and libations....but on my last two trips here the food has become inferior, the service was slow and the management patronizing....too bad. Need to look elsewhere for my regular family outings...

Big menu

By Phlasch |

First visit was very positive. Has a sports bar feel. Very friendly and great wait staff. Vast choices on menu and bar list. Dinner was very good and we look forward to visiting again.

Great atmosphere!

By jbaum64 |

Has an item for every palate. Staff and atmosphere are in the top rating for restaurants. Slightly pricey but well worth it.

awesome service, good pub grub

By bbbuttercup |

i went here specifically for the philly cheese steak. it is really good! i love that they have several sauvignon blancs from new zealand by the glass. the service here is top notch. i always sit at the bar. it seems like the bartenders work as a team. boy, do they hustle. ian remembered exactly what i ordered the last time and that was 2 months' ago! customer service is number one at this bar.

Horrible service and Sick to boot.

By FredericoSuave |

All 3 of us order the same thing, chicken fried steak, all 3 got sick that night. Server was hard to locate on a quite night and the WiFi service did not work even though we asked 4 times for support. Normally love Stone Werks, a go to choice of mine but I will definitely not be going back to this location. Definitely not their finest location in the chain.

An island of friendliness on a tough day

By Heidi v |

We came here emburdened with a flight cancellation and a long self found reschedule. This restaurant provided great food ("best oysters Rockefeller I've ever had!") AND great attitude. When we asked our server if she'd honor our airline's voucher for the meal, she simply smiled and said "Let me check with a manager!" When she came back with a "No, I'm sorry," it felt like a "I did my best" rather than yet another brush off ( like the airline). We were left satiated AND well served. I'd come here again in a heartbeat.

Excellent Dinner!

By BSJ3258 |

Stopped by after leaving work at JBSA Fort Sam Houston. One of the guys I was working with today told me about this place. Had the chicken fried steak. Food was very good, served quickly and Jason the server was excellent. Only drawback is that the restaurant is very noisy making for a less than desirable visit.

Great food and service

By WBWII |

I meet my friends here one a week for drinks. We eat here once a month. Their raw sea food bar is excellent. Always a lot of fun people of all ages. Bring your date or business associate. It’s a mix of families and singles.

Good food, overwhelmed service/kitchen

By dchostler |

Group of 7 visited for dinner last Saturday - restaurant was busy but no wait for a table. Servers were very pleasant but clearly overtasked. Kitchen was way behind and there was a disconnect between kitchen and servers - half of the food items arrived cold and raw bar order took over an hour to arrive. That said, wings and oysters were good and the beer selection is reasonable. Would return but maybe not on a busy weekend.

Good lunch and service

By finesilver |

Had lunch there recently on a business trip with some clients. Food was good, service was great. I actually had the hand cut ribeye which was done a a little under what I liked but close enough. It came with smashed potatoes which were rich and creamy. The Caesar salad was good, not great and frankly unimaginative and bland. Others in my group had the Prime Rib open faced sandwich which was huge topped with breaded onions on top of the shaved beef. We also had carrot cake which was our server's best choice, it was ok, kind of disappointing for sure and not nearly as good as represented. Service was tops and attentive and friendly. We were there for a while working and our server kept checking on us well after our meal was done. I like that alot. I would go back if near any of the outposts of this place.

Good food, a little high priced though

By Thomas B |

it was a nice place to dine, no question, but for the fare, I would have thought a more reasonable price. This also didn't provide a military discount.

Monday night football

By 221Jim_H |

Four of us went here for Monday night football. No kids with us so we chose the bar. Seating is good for TV viewing they have plenty of large screens to watch. The only downfall is that there is no volume to the games, they play pop music. We ordered the large nacho plate and a few IPA beers. Our company ordered pork chops and a french dip sandwich, and deviled eggs as an appetizer. Food took a bit, but I think it was because of the pork chops. For the price we paid for the steak fajita nachos, we expected more than 12 chips. But everything is made from scratch there, so quality was great. No complaints from our friends on their food. Quantity seemed good so it all depends on what you order. Strawberry cheesecake for dessert, the ladies loved that. :)

Good smoked Gouda burger

By LParnell |

I went with a burger and sweet potato fries. The burger was good and the fries were yummy. Ordered carrot cake to go. Huge piece of cake. It was average good cake. Had the big rock margarita- tasty.

Good varied menu

By L G L |

Had the lamb burger which was excellent Business associate had the flat bread and said it was excellent Side salad was ample, fresh and cold Will revisit

Pretty good

By mule03 |

We had a great time at Stone Werks when I visited, we found out it was our waiters first night so we excused when he mixed up our drinks. The ambience was nice and they lit candles at our table, and the food was pretty good but kind of expensive.Over all it was a great restaurant and I'd go again.

Nice atmosphere - Marginal food quality and service

By shadow17 |

Met a business associate here for lunch - i ordered the Rueben. Bad choice! The menu says it comes with "corned beef, swiss cheese, and sauerkraut piled high on toasted marble rye with russian dressing". They were right about the corned beef - very healthy pile of meat! However, if there was swiss chees or sauerkraut on the sandwich I could not detect it. There was a very thin layer of russian dressing. I also ordered fries with the sandwich - i got potato chips. I told the server about the error when i received the order but the fries never arrived until i was almost finished with the sandwich. After the sandwich and drink were served, we never saw the server again until he presented the bill. My friend had the Wedge and said it was very good. Kind of hard of screw up a pile of lettuce covered with bleu cheese dressing.

Subpar

By Vaflyfisher |

This restaurant features the elements of many of the national chain establishments- simply mediocre across the board. Would not return.

Great selection of food and drinks

By Debbie M |

I would describe the restaurant as an upscale sports bar. Food selection was excellent something for everyone. The food was very good and large portions. There were 6 of us and we all ordered flatbreads. We could have ordered 3 for all of us. The spinach artichoke dip was amazing. The wine and beer selections were good and all in all the only down side was it was a bit noisy. They also have a wonderful outside area. Highly recommend

Good food. But

By Belvedere66 |

Went to watch game. Only one server behind the bar doing liquor for the whole restaurant plus serving food at the large bar. She was run ragged. No way should a restaurant of this size be so understaffed.

Upscale casual

By Christopher462 |

This place is comfortable yet upscale in very nice part of town. There are TVs to watch a game at the bar and there's a large covered/uncovered patio with a fireplace and live music. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Did I mention the food? It's Delicious! There's a huge wine selection and plenty of space for large parties. bon appétit!

Nov 15 Lunch

By TexTTraveller |

Two of us dined here about 11:30. They were not very busy yet. This was our first time here and we had a recommendation from a neighbor to try it. We ordered the nachos, a combo beef and chicken fajita. It was a nice presentation and a good size plate. The beef ones were better as the chicken was overcooked. Overall a nice plate of nachos. The other diner ordered the potato soup as the entrée. They liked it and I tried it and I must say it was good. I ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with fries. It was cooked on a Panini cooker instead of in a skillet. I was nice though I may have like to have it cooked in a skillet, with butter of course, so it was a little crustier. The fries were well prepared. We both agreed it was a good lunch and we would eat here again. I plan on trying one of the salads next time.

End of a fun night out

By cathysterling |

We attended the Chris Botti concert at the Tobin and wanted some drinks and light dinner...so, of course we headed to Stone Weeks. Lovely space, great lighting...we sat at the bar and had a very enjoyable evening thanks to Ian.....he was fun, and he made the evening even better. He suggested drinks and food we might enjoy and I must admit, he was right on all counts. The flatbread pizza is delicious! Oysters on the half shell...like just from the ocean...we came for the ambiance, very cool...high ceiling, wrought iron lamps and lights, large bar....and we enjoyed everything! Thanks Ian!!

Great Dinner

By Ed K |

The food was outstanding and the service was exceptional. Pretty much anything you order will be to your liking. They also offer a military discount which sweetened the deal. We'll go back here definitely.

Fun place to watch sports

By Jim L |

Stopped by for a World Series game. Sat outside on their covered patio, amazing weather. Outdoor bar was nice, service good, Kobi sliders were great. Several people smoking around us was a bit of a negative.

Amazing food

By David H |

We were looking for a place to meet our son for dinner that is close to his work. We decided to give Stone Werks a try and were glad we did. The restaurant has a very modern feel as far as the decor. The food was amazing! I had the grilled chicken breast, served with wild rice and vegetable medley. It was all cooked to perfection and had wonderful flavor. My wife and son both really enjoyed their food as well. My wife had the potato and parmesan crusted tilapia. She raved over it and wouldn't even let me have a bite! The only thing that keeps me from rating it higher was our server. He was not very friendly and provided minimal service. He seemed annoyed that it took us a while to make up our minds before ordering. Otherwise, it was a very positive dining experience.

Above average service, average steak

By tag302 |

The service, starting with the hostess, was courteous and attentive. We asked for a quiet table and the staff was very accommodating in seating us at one. The server was also friendly, efficient and attentive. We had the Stone Werks house-cut 14 oz ribeye, with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed julienne vegetables. The potatoes and vegetables were very good. The steak was average. It was cooked to order, but a good 20% my steak serving was fat. I trimmed that section of fat off myself and left it on one side of my plate. We may return to Stone Werks, however we will not be having their ribeye.

Dinner

By Cmacy |

My sister in law recommended this restaurant which is one of her favorites! I can see why! Fantastic first impression! Fantastic service! Fantastic food!! I had the Sea Bass with mashed potatoes & green beans! The others had the salmon, the beef kabobs & the ribeye. Five stars all the way around the table! One of the best restaurants in the city, by far!!

Great place. They moved a few years ago and have now expanded and you can tell the leadership has done a great job of the obsession necessary to maintain great dishes over and over at each location. Great bar too.

Love this place

By Textraveler2013 |

Go here every chance We get! Chicken salad sandwich and tortilla soup are delicious! Flatbread was generous and toppings resembled pizza! My husband loved it! Nice atmosphere and roomy between tables! Wait staff (Thomas) was very efficient and accommodating! We were at the Rim location! Very nice patio!

Nice, casual restaurant

By lucky_3_17 |

My wife and I have been here several times and we have always enjoyed it. There's a good variety of menu options and many plates are about $15-20.

Excellent food, excellent service

By Debbie F |

We chose this place at dinner time after attending an afternoon matinee at the Majestic Theater, & were not disappointed😉. The service & the food were great & the staff was very attentive even though we lingered after our meal. Two of us split the Rueben sandwich which was huge, & was paired with sweet potato fries that were very crunchy & fresh. Another ordered the Phily Cheese Steak sandwich, also with sweet potato fries. Another enjoyed the tacos, and all enjoyed the Texas Toothpicks! We will most definitely keep this place on our radar for future visits.

Great place for a girl's night out

By flabbytabbycat |

I had the pleasure of sharing a fun evening with a few colleagues from work. This was my first visit to this particular location; my only prior visit was to the Stone Werks off of Loop 1604. It was a perfect evening to sit out on the patio and enjoy the cool weather. We met on Monday evening, so we had our choice of patio tables, and enjoyed a fine selection of appetizers and wine; one colleague had a chocolate-flavored beer- which actually tasted better than it sounds. There is an outdoor fireplace on the patio; however, it was not cool enough to enjoy it. The service was attentive without being patronizing, and best of all, we were not rushed to leave. I am sure it would be much busier on a typical Friday evening (when I visited the other location), as this location is in Alamo Heights- but for our purposes, it was perfect.

Very nice

By Lealm |

Great time to eat and listen to some music on the patio. We start with the food ,we got a mixed bag of food at our table and it was all great.I got a flatbread ,my wife got chips and cheese and my wife's sister got chicken strips ,and lastly my daughter got a pizza.Lets just say we all shared our food, and it was all awesome. Would definitely come again

Great atmosphere - food varies

By Paradise51894591418 |

Great atmosphere - especially good for watching sports. Food can be good (fried shrimp on recent visit was great) or not so great (prime rib on previous visit was all fat). Sandwiches have usually been consistently good. Specialty cobbler offered nightly - always good. Large outdoor dining area perfect for pretty days. Good active bar area.

Good local place

By Roxanne |

Enjoyed the food, we ordered several items and shared. Have had the chicken Plablano soup before. It is always good, but was lukewarm this time and could never get server's attention to heat soup.

My favorite restaurant

By Textraveler2013 |

Love the lunch combo of chicken salad sandwich and tortilla soup! My sister liked nachos, and my husband enjoyed the burger! Always good service and you can depend on good quality food! Fresh salad greens!

Quality From A to Z

By zepper50 |

Ample free parking, some even in the shade which is important in hot San Antonio. Friendly greeting and a lot of cooperation decide where to sit. Decided on outside with cover and fans. Very nice, professional waiting staff and food excellent, fresh and unique in taste. From fresh oysters, to a delicious shrimp and avocado salad to a great hamburger all guests pleased and satisfied. Very kid friendly as well. Highly recommend.

Dinner for 26

By Anna L |

We made a reservation for 26 for 3:30 after a family funeral. Our server was Kris, who was absolutely awesome! We ordered off the menu, had many changes in drink orders and EVERYONE enjoyed their order. She was very patient and attentive the whole time. Not only is the food excellent here, the service is impeccable! Don't pass it up!

Great burgers 🐮

By Qness47 |

First time eating here and I must say I was very impressed with the Decorations, the food, and service. This place has indoor and outdoor seating and it has a full wraparound bar. We ordered the fried mushrooms ($9). And I must say that it came with 15 to 20 mushrooms which was way more than I expected at a restaurant. They were also very good. I had the bacon and smoked Gouda burger ($13) and my husband had the Kobe burger ($15). We wanted to see if there was a difference between the Kobe burger and a regular burger and we definitely think that there is a difference. Their burger was good it tasted delicious however the Kobe burger was better. The Kobe burger was definitely more juicy and it had a bit of a sweet taste. We could tell it was a lot more tender. Both selections were great we just wanted to see if we could tell the difference between the meats. We both recommend the Kobe burger. Service was fantastic. Our server Rudy was just terrific. He knew when to check up on us. We always had our drinks filled and it was just awesome service. For example, we were trying to figure out the difference between the shoe shoelace fries and their regular fries. He was nice enough to bring us samples of each so we could make a decision on what kind of fries we wanted with our burger. Just really great service. We are definitely coming back and would recommend this restaurant.

Dinner with Friends

By Peggy044 |

This is a nice restaurant. The service was good. It has a very nice atmosphere. The food was pretty good, but someone forgot that the menu says; served with fresh bread. Other than that, everything else was nice.

Good Food Excellent Service

By tetringer |

We had family in from out of town and we decided to go to Stone Werks for dinner for my Birthday. The Service was GREAT and our Server was AMAZING. I would recommend asking for Kimberley as your server when you are there. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome and we loved her suggestions on drinks, appetizers and dinner. It was pretty busy and she always had a smile on her face. Her other tables she was serving seemed to be very happy also with her service. She recommended the Prime Rib Egg rolls and they were delicious. The Ribeye she recommended was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting from out of town for a small excursion away from the Riverwalk norm. It's a short Uber ride from downtown hotels and the Riverwalk. It's a nice break from the typical tourist stuff when in San Antonio.

Usually: Excellent

By safdrn |

My friend & I go here almost every Saturday. They fix our food just as we ask, usually. We asked for jalapeño to be added to the guacamole: one time no problem & it is the best guacamole I've found. The next time we asked for jalapeño added, the waitress brought us sliced jalapeño so we could add it ourself and charged us 75cents for an 8 cent jalapeño. I told her that they never charged before and she just shrugged. Their lamb burger is awesome. I wasn't impressed with the luncheon prime rib slices, so thin you could read the paper thru it. If you don't want the french fries and want to eat heathy, you're charged $1.50ish for the mixed vegetables: zucchini, squash & carrot strips. We still go. I'll just take my own peppers next time.

Always a great experience!

By JSR_Adventures |

This is our first time to this location as we usually eat at The Rim location. We've eaten at a Stone Werks at least a dozen times now since moving back to SA and we have never had anything but top notch service and food in a really nice atmosphere. I've tried many different items that have all been great and my wife sticks to her pizza, that she claims is her second favorite "ever"! (If it ain't broke...don't fix it.) We will definitely continue to frequent Stone Werks.

My favorite neighborhood restaurant

Reasonable prices, wonderful, friendly staff. I'm here at least once a week. The Dionicio salad is YUMMY!

Good food, good service

By Mike B |

Went there after a movie and the food was really good. The big boulder bbq bacon burger was huge. Was kind of expensive but worth it. Id come back here again

Very noisy restaurant

By Robert G |

I took my sons and 2 grandsons to have dinner and it was hard holding a conversation over the noise. The food was OK but nothing special. There are so many nice comfortable restaurants in the area I am not sure I will go back.

Stopped here while visiting and has a great supper. Food was good and the staff was better. Enjoyed the buger

Poor Management

By Michael B |

We try and try and try to like this place and they somehow manage to “UN-MANAGE” their way into providing a terrible customer service experience. Last night at 7:00 pm my wife and I went in for dinner. Had to stop someone after waiting for ten minutes for a table to ask if they could please wipe up the booth tabletop so we could sit. Sat and ordered Chicken BLT and salad with shrimp. Not complex. Thirty five minutes later (and having to go to the bar myself to get a beer...no waitress around) the “manager” came over to apologize for late delivery of food. She wasn’t sure how long it would be, why it was late (other than they were overburdened and mega stressed with a 9 person party (REALLY?), why others were getting their order but...not us. IMPRESSIVE RIGHT! She did offer me free piece of cobbler which I declined! Finally food came and they messed that up too. Wrong salad dressing, cold fries and wrong condiments on food. I hate incompetence and poor service. StoneWerks....TRAIN YOUR MANAGERS, IMPROVE CUSTOMER SERVICE and GET YOUR KITCHEN IN ORDER.

Great Food, Fun Atmosphere and Friendly Service

By Teresamea |

We have eaten at all the San Antonio Stone Werks but the one on Basse Rd just continues to outperform the other locations on all measure. Food is better, the friendly staff just make it more fun. Have never eaten anything I did not like but love the seared tenderloin salad - it is HUGE. Also the flatbreads are terrific and so is the filet. Really just cannot go wrong. There is live music so can get very busy later in evening...we tend to go earlier, unless music friends and adult beverages are part of the agenda.

Puzzling beer pricing

By ted d |

We live 2 miles from this place but seldom go.My wife doesn't like the atmosphere,I understand, but that is one person's opinion. Stone werks,in Alamo Heights, inside Loop 410, a long term fixture in these parts,is basically an upscale sports bar, with high end decor, furnishings, and, despite being a free standing place, has little sunlight allowed. There are many separate dining areas, and a nice outside patio. The menu is diverse and long, providing anyone with just what they want.My chicken fried steak was good, not great, and heavily breaded. My sole disappointment,as a craft beer lover, was the pint menu is not displayed on a menu board as many places are now doing, with ABV,and IBUs noted.Plus when the bill came, the three brews we had were priced as: Firemans Four a tasty treat from Blanco Tx a short ride up route 281, $5.25;, Stella Artois,a Belgian Bud lite, and the Belgians don't especially care for it $6.75; and a Brooklyn Lager, from the namesake location in New York was $7.25! For a pint of beer,Geez. Better notice would keep a sane beer drinker from paying this and at a sports bar.Trump should make it a crime to charge more than $6 for a pint of craft beer.

Casual place to dine and unwind

By Jester2525 |

To start off with the bar is central located with the main dining area surrounding the bar. The bar has an excessive selection of beer, wine spirts. There are many craft brews on tap, and a fine selection of botted beer. Dinner with a seven co-works. Our server and the service were perfect; there were no mistakes with our food or drink orders. The BBQ-Chicken pizza; was served on a nice thin crust and loaded with hot fresh toppings. My co-worker’s filet mignon, could be cut with a fork. Other co-works meals included the tuna salad, and the grilled shrimp platter. Stone werks is casual place to dine and unwind.

Go for the Brussel Sprouts

By BobtheBuilder39 |

Stopped by because of the number of cars in the parking lot. Good sign. We enjoyed a very nice tuna salad sandwich, but the brussel sprouts were exceptional, even though somewhat overcooked.
