We have eaten at the venue several times now and it might be our favorite hotel based restaurant that we have been too. The food was excellent and beautifully served. The manager Steve Fritz stopped by several times to make sure our food was done to our satisfaction. When one of our party thought her steak to well done, it was immediately taken back and prepared to her satisfaction. Steve Fritz was above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our dining experience was the best it good be. The noise level was quiet, and the food was reasonable for the quality. We will certainly eat there again. It is a great place to go when you want to entertain an important person.

I've been coming here for about eight years now and I've never been disappointed. I stayed at the hotel again so I was able to enjoy lunch and dinner a couple times this trip. The staff is always pleasant and the food is great. I'll definitely visit again.

Nicely decorated, quiet jazz overhead. Waitstaff very personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. The menu was very fresh. I had wild greens with roasted bicolored beets, with tempura'd goat cheese -- fun. Adequate wine list if not great. I'd love to see more local selections. Then the steak came cooked just as ordered, with nice accompaniment....baby veggies, and potato-cake. Everything was well timed, service was excellent! Offered to give me a take out for my unfinished wine.....

Staying at Sheraton and had very nice lunch here. Fish tacos and fish& chops. Our server Wendy was terrific!

This restaurant in a hotel had a nice menu with reasonable prices. It was a quiet venue where you could actually hear conversations. Our server, Jade, was excellent. I will go back!

Over the past 15 years, we have been to this restaurant, located inside the Sheraton La Jolla Hotel, numerous times and it never fails to please. Why do I call it a hidden gem? Because most people don't think about going to restaurants inside hotels, and it is a bit off the beaten path of tourist areas. But the food is amazing with a selection that should made the serious foodie very happy. We recently were there for a celebration dinner. We started off with calamari for our appetizer, which was tender and served with tartar and cocktail sauce and lemon wedges. We followed it with a Caesar salad, which we shared--they have the best Caesar dressing! Since my dining companion didn't want anchovies on his salad, I had them served on the side for my salad. For our entrees, my companion selected the macadamia crusted halibut with a rum raisin sauce and vegetables and I chose the Scottish salmon with vegetables. Every bite we took was delicious and made our special event outstanding! For dessert, Humphrey's offers individual desserts (not too much--just perfect sizes for one) and they do have some ice cream pies that can be shared. We chose a chocolate mousse and a warm chocolate ganache cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was a great dining experience with wonderful service from our waiter. We can't wait to go back again!

Loved this restaurant. Quiet and food was great as well as service friendly. They made us feel at home as the waiters remembered what we had for breakfast from the previous day.

Over the course of two days, I had the Taste of San Diego, the Eggs Benedict, the Shrimp Tacos, and the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was the most disappointing, it was slightly warm on the outside and completely cold on the inside! It was obvious that they had just re-heated it. The shrimp tacos were pretty good, I didn't care for the tortillas that they used though. The eggs benedict were spot on.

I loved my stay here at this hotel, not to mention we had a coupon for this restaurant. So we tried it out. The food was okay, I expected better especially for how high the prices are! Its a beautiful place and service is good. Just the expensive not so good food wasn't worth it.

Had dinner at Humphrey's, I don't normally eat in the hotel restaurant but we got a 50% off coupon when checking in so I figured why not. It's right there and I was glad we did because the food was excellent. We each had a salad as a starter and the halibut as our entree on recommendation of the front desk staff and our waitress. It was great, (did I mention that already ?). Service was excellent and timing was perfect. Had the chocolate mousse for desert which also was superb. Brittany was our server and what a pleasant person she was. I really enjoy meeting people like her. I will do this again even without the coupon.

We go to this restaurant for the last 5 years because of the staff: Dena, Evo and Antonio! They are so welcoming, friendly and lovely....terrific food and fabulous service!!!!!!

We stayed at the Sheraton hotel and we had one dinner and all our breakfast here. The dinner was ok, but nothing special. The same holds for the breakfasts. The waiters changed quite often and some of them was not very friendly.

Ate all 3 meals here over 2 days and all were great. Really enjoyed breakfast as it was quiet and relaxing. Held 2 client dinners here and were placed in a separated area for privacy and we had great service and selections were ample and varied. Shrimp were a bit rubbery and supposed to be infused with citrus, but had no taste. All was well presented

Actually, we had a nice meal there. We ordered a couple of steaks medium rare and both came out well done. They cooked them again for us. Service was nice but server was new to the industry and needed some polish. Guess you have to learn sometime. We were staying at the hotel so it was easy for us to get to without driving to a different location.

I had the best breakfast (create your own omelet) at a good value with great portions, and the service was excellent.

This restaurant is in a Sheraton Hotel in La Jolla, right near the freeway. I went for lunch only and had a Cobb Salad which was very good, my friend had an excellent soup and a different salad and was happy. I will plan on going back there again.

The Quality of the food and Service was Outstanding! It was not noisy and was quaint and secluded where you could have a quiet conversation.

We split an omelette packed with veggies and the bread pudding French toast. YUM! The menu is diverse. The servers are friendly. The booths are comfortable. The colorful paintings on the wall add a bright touch.

When you pay $30. for a couple of sides you expect the best, not so, bacon was fatty and not good quality and eggs were overcooked. Not a good spot for breakfast, too disappointing.

There's is nothing better than to walk into a restaurant and be greeted with a warm welcoming smile which is what I got from the hostess Symerian. After I got seated the experience just kept of getting better my server Brittany was nothing but professional and likable she knew her menu well (I had a lot of questions) and Lucy though she was not my official server she made sure that my drink was always full which is important to me. Overall five star dining experience I mean come on even the manager Chloe came out to make sure everything went well. You guys made my night thank you so much definitely coming back.

This place is better than any 5 star restaurant I've ever been too!! We had scallops and tuna that are the best!! The best is Steve Fritz! This guy should be owning his restaurant any day!! He runs this place like the captain on the best ship on the ocean!! He takes care of every customer like you were his brother or sister mother or father. It is at the Sheraton but please don't let that detour you ! This place is amazing!!

Humphrey's is a great location for lunch or dinner (if you go for lunch be sure to ask for Robin; she's phenomenal). My colleagues and I hold frequent lunch meetings here. It's close to UC San Diego, the food is excellent and reasonably priced, and it offers free parking. I would definitely recommend this for a low-key meal.

I can not rave enough, after a long day of travel the serivce in the restraurant was only surpassed by the creative and fantastic chef creations. I suggest all try his specials. Presentation pleasing to the eye, surpassed by their full flavor. A must for all.

We ate here for several meals including breakfast, lunch and dinner and did not have a bad meal. The breakfast oatmeal was wonderful, the lunch menu is great and every dinner meal we had, fish or steak was delicious.

I ordered from the Humphrey's room service menu as I was 1) pre-procedure or 2) post-procedure. The fish and chips was excellent. I actually ordered it both nights that I stayed. The second night I also ordered the crab cake appetizer, also excellent. The room service delivery and presentation was lovely. Unfortunately, each of the two nights there was a small error with my requested order, and room service was required to return twice one night and three times the next. They were, however, prompt, apologetic and polite. Had I not been having a procedure, I would have enjoyed the ambience of the restaurant itself. I'll return another time for that

My friends and I have visited the Bar at Humphrey's at the Sheraton, La Jolla, and have always been impressed with the friendly staff, great service and delicious and reasonable food and drinks. I would like to extend kudos to Shavon, our server on my last visit. She went above and beyond with her friendliness and attention to detail. The entertainment is also fun! Hearty recommendations!!!

My sister, brother-in-law and I had dinner at Humphrey's Grill in La Jolla this evening and I have to say that we had an amazing time! Our server, Brittany, made it all happen for us! I can't even remember a time when I had any better service ever. Both my sister and my brother-in-law agreed! Brittany is a "gem"! She gave us excellent recommendation on the menu, which my sister and I went for and were glad we did! Both our orders were DELISH and YUMMY! Brittany was very attentive and we chatted a little with her. By the time we left the restaurant, we were just so impressed with her that we couldn't leave the place without giving her a hug for a most unforgettable dining experience. We actually wanted to package her and take her home with us 😀, as she reminds me of my nieces. ️The next time we visit this place, we will be asking for her! Can't thank you enough Brittany for a wonderful time!

We had dinner here tonight and given that it’s a hotel restaurant our expectations were not very high but it was surprisingly good! Our server, Karen Shaw, was very knowledgeable and attentive. Overall, a very nice meal in a lovely setting!

My husband and I, along with his brother and sister-in-law, had a very enjoyable stay at the Sheraton La Jolla. Humphrey's La Jolla Grill was an excellent find. We loved the convenience and ate most of our meals there during our visit. We were extremely pleased with the pleasant atmosphere, the friendly and accommodating wait staff, and the delicious food. The prices were reasonable, too. We will return if we visit La Jolla again!

We just arrived to our hotel and decided after a 12 hour day at airports that we would just eat at the hotel restaurant. Bad idea. Service was awful. She acted like we essentially didn't deserve her attention and ended up having to wait for water refills, to take our order, get our bill, pay our bill. The other wait staff were busy serving their tables and seemed friendly so it appeared to be just our waitress (blond with an accent). While we were waiting we could hear her back in the kitchen talking and laughing. I used to waitress and worked hard for tips...apparently she didn't care. The food was really good and I would have given 4 stars if it wasn't for our waitress. We stayed at the hotel for 4 days due to a conference and didn't go to the restaurant again due to the horrible service.

Had the Kobe beef burger that was melt in your mouth--Excellent

I picked the Sheraton in La Jolla in part because it had a restaurant and I don't like to go out for meals in the evening. I was totally unprepared for the excellent quality and service of Humphrey's. The menu is extensive with special delights such as charred octopus, and regular menu items including a roasted beet and tempura goat cheese salad, and a wide choice of entrees, my favorite being perfectly cooked scallops with corn relish and grits. The chocolate lava cake is also superb. The breads are fresh, warm and wonderful. Nice selection of wines. Prices are very reasonable and hotel gives a coupon when you check in that reduces an entrée by 50%. Special recognition to Charlie, the waiter, who made sure everything was well timed and responded graciously to special requests. I also enjoy that the restaurant is not loud, so you can have a real conversation.

I decided to drop in after seeing they had a resonably priced gorumet burger. $17 for a kobe beef burger with sweet potato fries. I figured I could spend nearly this much for a fast food burger anywhere else so I mine as well make it count and get something gourmet. And thats exactly what it was! The burger was amazing kobe beef, cooked perfectly and with excelletn sweet potatoe fries all for a fair price. I was impressed by the burger but even more so was just the great atmosphere that the bartender created. His name was Scott and he just brought everyone at the bar together and made it a fun time. There was a mix of about four different couples and myself and he got everyone chatting and having a good time across the bar. Nothing over pushy but just a pleasent social atmosphere. This is the definition of someone tending the bar well. I'm be coming back again!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are all great. I've always experienced delicious food when dining here. It is an easy place to go for a low key full service meal. It never disappoints.

Humphrey's restaurant and Shooters bar are part of the Sheraton La Jolla hotel. The hotel has gated parking right next to the restaurant and bar and both validate, so there is always plenty of free parking with no hiking required! The restaurant and bar are very relaxing with plenty of space between tables, allowing for quiet business and personal interactions--no fighting loud televisions, too-loud music, or the steadily escalating volumes that occur in overcrowded spaces. This is an elegant spot! Ashton and Robin assisted us at our lunch meeting and a subsequent meeting in the bar. We received excellent service and beautiful and delicious food and drinks. I spend a lot of time in the LaJolla area meeting for business and pleasure-- Humphrey's and Shooters are my current favorite spots.

his hotel is inside the Sheraton Hotel. It was fairly empty when we went there. Wine selection was decent. Good was very good. Overall a decent place to eat.

Diners who are staying at the hotel get 50% off and the restaurant is nice. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly. My NY steak was not cooked the way I had requested but it was tasty.

Have always liked Humphrey's La Jolla. Food is good, Service is excellent and wait staff has been there forever. Ask if you go. It is one of the few restaurants that is quiet & you can hear each other talk & no yelling. Prices are very reasonable. There is no comparison to Humphrey's PT Loma. Two very different types of dining experience. Do try it if you are in the area .

The wait staff was excellent and the food delicious. What more could you ask for? Oh - and the ambiance was very nice.

This is a Restaurant you may want to target also if you no hotel guest at the Sheraton. You can have a fine aperitive, with outdoor terrace and then indulge in this restaurant, with tables and booths, decorated with plants and showing at the Windows all the palm and banana trees that compose the Sheraton grounds. After dinner, you may want to have a pleasant walk in the garden of the Sheraton, by the pool, pond, fountain and lawn. It adds a lot to your evening. Great service, very interesting food options. I enjoyed a lot.

I know that many of the finest restaurants in London are found in London's finest hotels but Humphrey's is in a Sheraton - a chain hotel - so I wasn't expecting too much. Because I was staying in the hotel, reception gave me a coupon for 50% off main courses. This allied to the fact I was tired from the journey made the restaurant a simple, easy choice for dinner. However, what I was not expecting was great service, excellent wine and incredible food. First, we were seated in a nice booth - there were window seats available but we wanted the booth. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, even on a Friday night so we had our pick. The waiter immediately brought a variety bowl of bread and water to the table before helping us choose a really nice bottle of California red wine. A great start. We wanted to share a crab martini starter because it was already quite late and the waiter split it into two glasses. It was a delicious take on a prawn cocktail. We both wished we'd got one each. Then I ordered the fillet mignon (rare) and my girlfriend ordered the sanddabs. The first thing I did was cut the steak in half to see how well it was cooked and it was absolutely perfect and the sanddabs (a white fish from the Pacific, if you don't know - I didn't til I asked the waiter) was also perfectly cooked in a light breadcrumb. We got a creme brulee for dessert and it was also done perfectly and was also a bargain at $3. The total bill was under $100 and that was reduced further, of course, which made the whole meal not only delicious but really good value for money as well. I was waxing lyrical about the meal the day after to a friend from San Diego and he said it was actually one of the better restaurants around so I guess I lucked out. Basically, if you're staying in the Sheraton La Jolla, make sure you eat at Humphrey's!

Only in town one night and staying at the Sheraton La Jolla after a few long days in the sun. We wanted an easy meal so we stayed on the Sheraton property and sat down at Humphrey's. Every team member we met was pleasant and professional and the overall service and food was very good. You will enjoy your experience here.

This is an elegant restaurant with great atmosphere, outstanding service without being gushy or pretentious, and uniquely tasty food. We had three generations of our family at the meal, and everyone had a great time. The waitress brought childrens menus with crayons, and the two six year olds had a blast playing tic tac toe, solving the maze, and coloring in the menus. They loved their quesidillas, too. The busboy took very good care of us, bringing water and bread and butter, and we just felt spoiled. The menu is excellent, with many tempting options. Some in our group are vegetarians, and we had an extremely delicious veggie dish that was listed first among the entrees. At the other end of the spectrum, my brother had a huge steak that he thoroughly enjoyed. We have only positive things to say! I would recommend it, and I will go back.

We were in town to drop off our daughter at UCSD which coincided with our 20th wedding anniversary. We decided to eat at Humphrey's as it was located at the Sheraton where we stayed. Best decision ever! The food was amazing, and our server, Afton, was so wonderful!! She made us laugh, made great suggestions for food, and made our night so special despite her being pulled in many different directions. She kindly offered us dessert to celebrate our special occasion, and even made us aware of discounts via the hotel that we weren't aware of. We are so happy that we chose Humphrey's, and so grateful we had Afton to help us celebrate! She is a gem.

I stayed at the hotel and decided to eat locally on my last night in town. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was Very good. Fresh rolls. Good size portions and not run of the mill.

Wendy our server was extra friendly and efficient during our breakfast. Avocado toast and coffee was good. Great location for anything UCSD.

We came for dinner and I ordered the scallops and it was absolutely delicious. Good size scallops with sautéed spinach and edamame. Nice and light dinner excellent service.

Excellent Lamb dish as well as Macademia nut crusted Halibut. Extensive wine list. Look for Charlie, Afton, Everardo servers as well as for Dena hostess. They wait on you hand and foot. Professional and friendly crew. Laura at Front Desk was extremely helpful and fast.

We live in San Diego and choose to eat here for dinner or lunch when we want a quiet atmosphere with friends, and great food at affordable prices. Best of all, all the servers and assistants (bus boys is not the right description for them) are always attentive and welcoming. Today we especially appreciated the service from Mirna and Antonio. Mirna made a food suggestion for me that was right on. Loved it! Both checked back with us several times, we never had to ask for anything, even drink refills!! They will fix any dish to order, in our experience. A gem in spite of being in a hotel with minimal views.

It would be a great mistake to see that this is a "hotel restaurant." Humphrey's is an outpost of a San Diego tradition, and it feels like tradition. It's elegant inside with a matching menu. They often have duck, which is always great. They always have interesting and original choices. I've never had a bad meal there. Services is also friendly and efficient. My only criticism is faint. The hostesses sometimes seem a little disinterested, and the bar lacks sophistication. Nevertheless, whenever I stay at the Sheraton, I always eat there at least once.

We were staying at the Sheraton La Jolla and received a discount entitling us to half off our entrees. We were tired one evening and did not want to drive so we used our card and were not expecting much from a restaurant attached to a hotel. Our server was great. She has been with the place eight years and could explain several entrees very well for us. My wife had the halibut with the rum raisin sauce ("best piece of halibut I've had in years"). My son had a perfectly prepared filet mignon and I had SeaBass Wilson. what made this place were the sauces and side dishes that accompanied the meals. Very flavorful. Our server was a pro and she made the evening perfect for us. Thanks, Lucy!

This is a good hotel restaurant. It is a little expensive. It is not usually very busy. We have eaten here twice over the 4 years. The food is more fancy. We had the figs, pork tenderloin, skirt steak crab cakes and all were delicious.

Pros -Dena and Ever are morning servers were amazing! They could see we had our hands full with our toddlers. They were quick, accommodating, and super friendly! -Food was served hot and quick -Average prices and not crowded for breakfast or lunch -Offers a variety of choices and kid friendly menu Cons -It seemed a little uptight in there and not very kid friendly. Luckily we just sat in the back to not be so disruptive Would visit again, especially for the morning crew!

I come her every week for this quarter. I appreciate hte diversity of appetizers each week, generally very good to outstanding but the way the chef prepares the "filet-mignon" is simply outstanding: extraordinary meat (tasty and tender), demi-glace sauce, crushed potatoes, carrot, steamed fresh vegetables. Absolutely perfect. Great service. Great room totally encased in vegetation inside and outside the glass walls. A joy to be there.

We' have dined at Humphrey's at least five times and each time we have raved about the quality and perfection of the food preparation. I've had the lamb chops, the pork chops, the nut crusted mahi mahi and the mussel appetizer. All were knock outs. And they make a great martini. Service is friendly. It's a very nice dining experience.

Everado, Dena and Antonio provide wonderful service to our group of four when we meet for lunch every week. They always greet us by name with a smile. We have been meeting there for 15 years and it feels like we're part of their family. The food is delicious and we've never been disappointed. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Large room with small and large table arrangements. There is good variety on the menu and every meal ordered by our part of 4 was delicious. Service is attentive. They accept a variety of dining cards and coupons for discounts.

From what I understand Humphrey's has a great happy hour, but I would not know... My husband and I arrived for happy hour at 5:45, which started at 5:00. It runs from 5-7 dialy. When we arrived the band was playing and the entire bar was full. There were some other people in front of us who were waiting for a table as well, and they were nice enough to tell us that if we hang around eventually someone would get up. After about 10 minutes we flagged down a server, who did everything he could to avoid eye contact, and asked him if there was any other way we should be trying to get a table. His response was "just get anything you can". That wasn't much help. After a little while we gave up and went to have drinks and dinner elsewhere.

Service and staff was great. We enjoyed the food for breakfast and dinner. There was nothing we disliked.

Stayed at the Sheraton hotel with my wife for a short business trip and decided to try Humphreys...the hotel restaurant. Glad we did. Beautiful ambience, delicious dishes (we tried the crab cakes, scallops, and lamb chops), and competent service. Allee, our waitress, was friendly, charming, and pleasantly unobtrusive. Good place for a special romantic meal.

i brought my girlfriend out to CA and we strayed here. We went to the restaurant and Stacey waas our waitress. She was nothing short of amazing. She knew about the whold menu and wasw flawlesswith the wine list the wine list. I have never had such a good waitress. Dave Kelly

the food is delicious for what you pay!! BUT the waitresses mmmm! My husband and I were there and looks like the waitress knew my husband! So she was insisting in doing comments that have nothing to do with her obligations as a waitress like ..."Oh senior I remembered you, you were here many times a few years ago (THAT'S OK I MEAN SHE REMEMBERS MY HUSBAND BECAUSE HE IS FRIENDLY ), you used to sit by the window with a nice lady" Obviously It wasn't me because I wasn't even married on that time... So I mean It's ok but please just please be friendly with the clients, smile, take the order and saved your comments that can be just a little inconvenient and unnecessarily!

The Wife and I had a great dinner there. The food was great, manager Diane Guzman ensured we had a wonderful dining experience.

We love dining at Humphrey's in the Sherator Hotel in La Jolla. The extensive menu has a wonderful variety of favorites. All are reasonably priced . We go there often and we have never been disappointed in the quality the taste. The service is excellent and we are delighted whenever We have Brittany as our server. She is not only professional but also very friendly and makes the dining experience an especially special one.

This is not your run of the mill hotel restaurant. The food is actually great and the menu is varied. They even serve fish tacos!

We waited quite a long time until someone seated us. No one was at the host desk. Once seated, it took a long time for anyone to take our order. The meals were good as was the service once someone paid attention. We were there for lunch but were not staying at the hotel. It was near where we were at the time. We both had quiche but different kinds. Both were good.

Our large group were in a part of the restaurant sectioned off by plans, which worked well. Excellent , prompt service from limited main options but one veg (excellent), fish (excellent) and red meat (skirt steak, very tough).

Used to be great before the menu changed and their prices went sky high.

Lived here 12 years. This place is better then ruth chris, mortons, flemmings, pehoes, and all the fancy places in town. I will be back. I had the prime rib. Best mash potatoes in town. Deserts rock. They also took 18 off with the entertainment card. Thanks

My daughter and I ate breakfast on a cold rainy June morning. Wendy provided incredible service and the food was perfect.

Enjoyed good food during our two-night stay at the Sheraton. The Fish and Chips were particularly good and would give two thumbs up to the beef filet salad. The burgers were also outstanding. Very friendly staff and great service.

Had dinner, dessert, and breakfast here. The sourdough breakfast sandwich was sooo delicious. I also really liked their hot chocolate. Pancakes are huge! And served with real maple syrup. Dinner was delicious. I had the filet mignon with potatoes. Nice variety of bread served at dinner. I will definitely enjoy a couple more meals here next time. Oh, and the servers and hosts are all great too!

We have eaten here many times over the past two years for Sunday brunch. The setting is pleasant and gives one the feeling of being hidden from the larger world out there. The food and service are adequate, though not outstanding. Be aware that if you have not begun eating brunch before 11:30 am, service becomes spotty, uneven, and your presence is not welcomed by wait staff. The restaurant is very good at accepting discount offers and tickets.

First of all, as a guest there is a 50% off lunch or dinner entree coupon. The wine by the glass selection was very good and reasonably priced. I had the grilled scallops and they were excellent. The service was friendly and despite being a single I was given both attention and a booth. I don't understand the reviewers who complained about the decor. I think it's a nice, somewhat casual but pleasant ambiance. I wouldn't have eaten here if I hadn't been at the hotel for business but it was a pleasant experience and very good food.

Have eaten here several times and the food is well prepared and served in a professional manner. The prices are reasonable and ask for the coupon if you are a guest to get half off on entrees during certain times of the week.

Brought my grandmother here on her request for her birthday dinner. Group of 6 of us, sat at a great round table. All of us had varied dishes and they were all delicious. The waiter (and cook) were very understanding of my 90 year old grandmother and accommodate her every whim when it came to her meal. I had gorgeous shrimp tacos, and a side of grits - amazing. Husband had a delicious burger. Grandma had scallops and my aunt had halibut which were both beautiful. I let them know that it was my grandma's birthday and they brought a piece of ice cream cake with a candle, very sweet. Overall a beautiful restaurant with a really nice steakhouse type menu in a nice hotel.

My husband and I were staying at the Sheraton as he was going to have surgery the next morning and we wanted some place close as we had to be at the hospital by 5:00 a..m., so we ate at Humphrey's. Our server has been there for 30 years, so that tells you he is a great guy and very accommodating. I had the sea bass which I thought was just okay, but my husband had the shrimp scampi and it was delicious! Nice and garlicy and saucy. I know as he let me have one. The place wasn't busy as it was a Wednesday evening. We actually went in the bar first for the Happy Hour and the bartender and the waitress were extremely friendly and very accommodating since my husband couldn't have any alcohol - he had a banana and strawberry smoothie which was delicious!

We visited this restaurant yesterday. The food was great, but we were especially impressed with the service provided by Everado and Dena! We decided to come back for breakfast this morning. Each of them were friendly and efficient. They offered food suggestions that turned out to be delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant and suggest you ask for either Dena or Everado.

My husband and I chose Humphrey's because we were staying at the Sheraton and the restaurant was convenient. However, we discovered it was a wonderful place to dine. We returned to Humphrey's five times during our stay in La Jolla picking different entrees each time and every meal was delicious. Chef Brian's combinations of foods on each of the several entree choices was perfect. I especially liked the chicken and pasta special and my husband's favorite was, well actually he couldn't come up with just one. This restaurant was an unexpected surprise in an unlikely location. Kudos to Chef Brian and all the attentive staff.

Brittany was an excellent waitress giving us great service from pouring the wine to showing us what was for dessert. Also she was very personable with a nice smile.

We stayed at the Sheraton and dined at Humphrey's, because it was convenient. It is a relaxing place to get dinner, especially after a day of travel. The food is surprisingly good and interesting. The halibut is a favorite, the prawn dished are well prepared, the beat salad is very good, the wine selection is good as well. They offer half portions deserts at half price - smart move after a big meal. We shared 3 desserts and enjoyed them very much. Service was relaxed, but we were not in a hurry and enjoyed better our dinner conversation. Very enjoyable place and experience!

I enjoyed a quiet meal in pleasant restaurant with nice ambiance. My lamb was prepared as requested, and I was served by Brittany who was attentive and helpful.

Stayed at Sheraton La Jolla and Humphreys is located here. Our family took advantage of the coupon provided to us by the hotel - half prize of the total bill. We had the Calamari strips for appetizer which was excellent. I had the Shrimp tacos, this was a different dish that I usually try and it was okay. The serving was a good portion of two tacos, although it was too much for me. My husband had the New Zealand Salmon which i was eyeing the whole night and my son had the burger which he ate up. The service was excellent and atmosphere was great for quiet dining.

My wife and I were looking for a place to go for dinner. After checking out the reviews on Yelp we decided on Humphrey's La Jolla Grill. We ordered a bottle of the Argentinian Malbec which was delicious! The food was good, especially the spinach salad, but we both felt that the desserts could have been warmed a little more. Our server, Allen, was extremely friendly and attentive. He was very helpful with his recommendations and made certain to check in with us often (but not too often) to ensure that we were enjoying our meal and to make certain that we had everything that we needed. Ate in Humphreys twice during my stay. The service was good and the Halibut was very good. Good layout in restaurant, with a good wine list as well.good selection of beers as well.

Our party of 3 enjoyed the delicious fish dishes--Macademia Crusted Mahi Mahi, Scottish Salmon and Seabass Wilson, preceded by 2 Ceasar salads (split 3 ways in the kitchen--1st class!) and a calamari appetizer. We all shared a small taste of each others entrées and appreciated the different flavors of each. Our waiter was attentive and made sure our water glasses were filled and was by our table at appropriate times (he didn't hover). We each partook of an individual dessert. -- 2 of us had the flourless chocolate cake (served warm) and the 3rd person had a chocolate mousse. There were about 7 different desserts offered, all served in a 1 person size--perfect for not too many calories. We have been to Humphreys before and would not hesitate to go back again.

We were staying at the Sheraton, and we reserved a table for three at Hunphrey's at 7 pm where we were seated at a table at a very nice location in a slightly elevated section. We had a very helpful server. They didn't have any sweet white wines or dessert wines by the glass, so my wife had a white zinfandel with pork belly. My son said his sand dabs were delicious, and I had filet mignon with potato cakes. The portion was very large, but I felt the taste did not measure up to other restaurants. My wife couldn't eat the pork belly because the outside wasn’t crackling, and the inside was tough. I found it was tough, as well. We should not have ordered the pork belly. The desserts were small, delicious and very well priced. My son had a creme brulee, and I shared a croissant bread pudding with white chocolate (the high point of the meal) with my wife. Considering the less than excellent quality of the main courses, limited availability of wines by the glass, the excellent service from the very helpful waitress, and the delicious desserts, the dinner was an average value because we received a 50% discount.

I ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Humphreys, which is not my usual habit, liking to take advantage of the privately owned restaurants in the area. However, Humphreys is affiliated with a longstanding waterfront establishment in San Diego of the same name. The cuisine and the kind personal service far exceeded my expectations. I was very slightly disappointed in my margarita featured on the cocktail menu, comparing it to those I had in Florida. Without my request, the waitress brought a second drink, saying "this is the bartender's special recipe - I think you'll like it better". And I did - it was wonderful. All in all, a memorable experience, more so because I did not have high expectations.

We ate here late one night and they were more than accommodating. We even special ordered without a fuss. The food was good and a coupon received at check-in at the Sheraton made it a good deal.

Amazing fig appetizer and sand dabs prepared perfectly. We were blown away by the food selection and quality. Not what you expect from a Sheraton kitchen. Well done.

This is our regular go-to restaurant for quality of service (Brittany and Charlie), engaging menu and calm, unhurried, low-noise atmosphere. You'll find a friendly welcome, calm surroundings, and warm smiles. If either Brittany or Charlie is on duty, ask for either. You'll find them helpful on menu recommendations, respectful of your space and happy to have you linger. Menu specials are always on offer, but the regular menu is so varied you won't be bored if you become a frequent visitor.

I have found it unusual to find a great restaurant in a hotel but this is the exception. Great food and great staff!

Vegetarian dish soaked in Pinot Grigio is a must have! Lots of vegetables and bursting with flavour. Service was fantastic too.

Caught an uber to go there because of the great reviews. What a joke. Have never doubted TA until now - hotel management need to have a serious look at the staff they employ. The food was warm. And the crab cakes were inedible- The service was even less attentive- couldn’t wait to leave. We only had five nights in San Diego and ruined one of them by going there. My mistake. I should have known that hotel restaurants are notorious for having staff that don’t give a dam. You could hear them laughing out in the kitchen and they weren’t any in the dining room unless they to dump your meal and run. Look elsewhere .

I visit this restaurant monthly. I enjoy dining alone or with friends - either way I am treated with respect. The servers are friendly and attentive. Best thing ever is the great chef that I have never seen who will prepare a dish as I like rather than staying strictly with the menu. Charlie has worked there for years and is terrific but Allee was my server yesterday and she did not disappoint.

Allie was our waitress this evening. What a lovely, friendly lady. Four of us had different entrees and they were all excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Decent food at the Sheraton - had the fish tacos. The chocolate mousse was scrumptious - almost a ganache - and the portion size was perfect for lunch.

I was at Humphrey's La Jolla Grill in September 2013 and 2014. It's tucked away in a nice hotel 1/2 mile from the UCSD campus and is therefore very convenient to visitors. Their menu and wine list offer great variety. Everything is presented beautifully and the ingredients are fresh. Their sauces are delicious and the service is top notch. A must-go to restaurant in La Jolla.

While in La Jolla, we wanted to eat dinner at Humphreys. They tout steak and seafood. As we looked at the menu, there was an abundance of shellfish options. My daughter is allergic to shellfish, and so we opted to go elsewhere for dinner. However, we did return for breakfast the following morning. We ordered the standard American breakfast of bacon, eggs and toast. We ordered extra toast for my 2 ½ year old granddaughter. It was a good breakfast, but nothing exceptional. Being on the property of the Sheraton La Jolla, it was a quick and easy way to get breakfast. The service was average, despite there not being many people in the dining room.

There were 8 of us, all seniors. We all had specific needs and our waitress, Afton, treated us all so well and gave us everything we asked for. Plus she did it with a smile and so promptly!! She even split the checks for us! She is the best!!

We came for dinner on a Saturday, about 7:30 pm. The host was not at the entry to greet us; he appeared about 3 minutes after we arrived. That was the only glitch for a very enjoyable dining experience. Our server, Wendy D., was very helpful and made extra efforts to ensure we had a wonderful dinner. My wife enjoyed Fennel cauliflower soup and the Scallops entree. I had Cajun corn chowder and the Duck entree. DELICIOUS! They were each very flavorful and beautifully presented. The menu lists a variety of tempting entrees. This restaurant is worth visiting again and again.

Absolutely great food. I went with two family members and all of us loved our meals. The food was beautifully prepared and, I can't say it enough times, fantastic. The atmosphere wasn't the most upscale thing ever, but the seats were comfortable and honestly who cares when the food is so good.

We love coming to Humphrey's to celebrate special occasions. Our server, Afton, was a delight. She patiently attended to all our needs with a lovely, friendly attitude. All of our orders came just as we had ordered them. The food was delicious and the atmosphere added to the enjoyment of the dinner. We were seated in an area where our grandchildren had some room to play on the floor without disturbing other diners. It was a lovely evening.

I didn't realize this was a locally-owned restaurant when I stayed at the Sheraton for a meeting at the university. I had breakfast there and was so impressed! Fresh greens, delicious bread, the service was awesome. I highly recommend it for travelers in the hotel.

We have been going to Humphrey's La Jolla for many years and still, we forget about Humphrey's at times because we never "see it". We always enjoy the food and the seating which allows for pleasant, comfortable conversations. The prices are a good value and the fish, seafood and pork dishes are well prepared and interesting. On the recent visit I had a duck breast dinner, which was very well prepared. Service is casual and pleasant. Wines are reasonably priced.

Great deal if you use the Entertainment Card. Try the Macadamia Nut Halibut. The rum raisin sauce is delicious!

Food is decent, but the place is not great. Ambiance is a bit lacking, the furniture is dated and ugly and the service is not great. The staff is fairly slow and messed up each and every order (3x breakfast and 1x dinner). At least something was always wrong and at some point I got tired of complaining. An example is that ht ebacon I order on the side ended up in the omelete, they forgot the coffee, then the cream for the coffee and so on. The staff appeard to argue with each other. Dinner service was better, but the place was dark. Not sure why. Maybe for a romantic ambiance, aybe so I could not see the food. Restaurant was empty most of the time. Probably a good indication not to go, but there are not that many restaurants in the neighborhood.

I've dined at Humphrey's many times before and I'm always very pleased to see a friendly face. Dena has worked as a hostess for Humphrey's for many years and she always remembers me. The service is quick and the food is very tasty. Dena is very attentive and conscious of her role as a hostess. I can't say enough good things about Dena.

We were staying at the Sheraton La Jolla and decided to check out Trip Advisor & Yelp reviews of the attached restaurant...glad we did. Great food and drinks at reasonable prices and very good service. Discovered the following day that it was highly recommended by the locals, which says a lot.

Last night we brought my sister here for dinner. We love this Humphreys! And Alie is the BEST! She has taken such good care of us and last night was no exception! Alie is a great waiter and everyone there is so accommodating. Our food is always perfect too. Last time we forgot to ask the chef not to put the sauce on my fish and without hesitation the Alie and the chef took care of us! Thank you for the great evening and making my sisters birthday dinner happy.

My husband and I went to Humphrey's a couple weeks ago for brunch. It was excellent. My favorite part was when you order a mimosa, they keep your glass full throughout your entire meal! They had shrimp, oysters, crablegs and salmon. There was an omlette station, pastries, fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs benedict, pasta dishes and cakes, pies, flan, cookies etc. to round it all off. The dining room is very elegant. We went at 10:30 am and it did not get crowded until after 11am. We had a nice view of the boats in the harbor. Our waitress made sure our drinks were always full and she was very pleasant. I have no complaints!

Our experience here has been great since the moment we walked in. Wendy, our server, has been very welcoming and attentive. The food is delicious, fresh and flavorful! If you sit in the bar (Shooters), you can still order from Humphrey’s menu but you get the live entertainment too :)

The dining area was nicely laid out, and with dinner plates, napkins neatly folded, wine glasses placed. Humphrey has the look and feel of a really nice restaurant. But, our dinner turned out to be a disappointing experience. Firstly, 2 members of our party, had napkins that were filthy. Yes, I used the word filthy, the napkins had spots and marks, that appeared to be used. And when it comes to food, the crab cake was unusually salty. the calimari had thick and unflavored crust of batter. My wife and I both ordered the Cioppino, it was a good portion, but, the taste of the broth was very light, and unflavorful. Another words, the taste was very bland and plain. 2 members of our group ordered Halibut, and both complained about how overcooked and dry the fish was. Overall, we have a pretty low mark for this hotel restaurant. The food's taste was very disappointing, and boring. Maybe it would be best to stick to hamburgers, or your basic type of classic meals here.

Humphrey's is located in the Sheraton Hotel on Holiday "Court in La Jolla. There is a parking lot next to the hotel. Take a ticket and the restaurant will validate so that parking is free. There is always a variety of wonderful fish dishes to choose from. I had the sand dabs this time and the trout last time. Meat lovers will find choices that are pleasing as well. If you have the Entertainment Book, bring you card and one meal is free (up to $18). It's a great value!!!

We do breakfast here from time to time. The restaurant is pleasant enough and is located on the property of a local Sheraton hotel, close to the campus of the University of California, San Diego, and the Veterans Administration. For those needing to stay at this property, the restaurant is welcome, since one does not need to take a long walk, or drive off the property, to find food. The food itself is OK, but nothing special. An order of blueberry pancakes came with a quite generous helping of blueberries, a plus, but was hindered with a bit of an oily taste. An order of scrambled eggs was OK, but the bacon was, well, just OK. A third order of waffle was quite good. A side order of fruit was not good, the fruit over-ripe and not reviewed for bruised spots before serving. A bit of attention here by management would help the overall experience. The servers also need more attention. Though the room was not busy on our last visit, it was 15 minutes between visits by our server.
