Excellent Breakfast

By Lucy G |

My sister lives in the neighborhood. We went for breakfast on a Saturday. Place was filled with locals no tourists. Huge menu. Great old fashioned and comforting food. Large portions. Kid friendly. Excellent wait staff. We need restaurants like this. Unpretentious and good. I’ll be back.

Nice breakfast.

Had the short stack of blueberry pancakes. Very fluffy. Also had turkey bacon. My so. Had two pancakes, two eggs, bacon and toast which was a reasonably priced special. Just a simple diner, but very good.

Like a diner, but much better!

Every time we visit my fiancé in Fishtown, we love trying out a new restaurant! Today, we had brunch at Sulima's Restaurant, and it was absolutely fabulous! When we arrived, there was a little 15-minute wait to be seated since the place is cozy and we had four adults plus a baby. But the wait was totally worth it! Sulima's has such a fun 80s diner vibe—it’s so refreshing! The staff made us feel right at home with their warm smiles and friendliness. The menu is packed with unique options, and I honestly had a tough time deciding what to order. Our server, Em, was super helpful and attentive. She answered all of our questions with a big smile! Our food came out quickly, and not only were the portions huge, but everything tasted amazing! The only one who managed to finish their meal was my son. Overall, Sulima's has such a welcoming atmosphere, and I can’t wait to go back for our next visit!

Very friendly atmosphere!

This place feels like your visiting a relative's house that has a great kiichen and huge dining room (also has a counter with plenty of seating). The food is delicious, the coffee is outstanding, and the service is quick, pleasant, and always checking up on you to make sure you're ok. Lucretia, the owner, always has a story to tell you and is a great listener when you have a story or just want to unload your problems to somebody. Another bonus is that Lucretia is kind of a health nut and always has advice for you if you have an ailment. Her specialty is natural remedies for healing what ails you. It's always a good time at Sulimay's and you always leave satistied and having learned something new.

Great Breakfast!

While visiting my daughter we walked a few blocks to breakfast here on Sunday morning about 10. Got a seat right away and the waitress was right on the coffee. Quite a nice breakfast menu...some interesting combos and old time favorites....I had grits...they make them from scratch but use milk instead of water resulting in a very thick rich result...Yum! My hubby ordered his favorite--pancakes and scrapple. Yes they do have sugar free syrup! My son in law ordered the chicken and waffles--think Belgian with fried chicken topped with poached eggs and gravy..a little odd in my book but he was very happy! Finally my daughter had pancakes/eggs/bacon with a lovely large homemade biscuit...she only made it through half. My western omelette had to be at least 3 eggs and big chunks of ham, onion and peppers. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Only downside is they only take cash, but they had an ATM in the back so solved that problem. We will definitely go back.

Small but Mighty Good Food & Service

We had a fabulous mid-week brunch at Sulimay's! This is a modest, almost obscure eatery on a main street in the Fish Town section of Philly. On the outside it looks like a row home (but the large sign above the door lets you know you are in the right place). It looked like multiple 1970's diners on the inside, with the chairs and booths delightfully vintage and mismatched. There was lots of art from local artists on the walls and ceiling. The restaurant was clean and cozy. The food was generously portioned, fairly priced, and absolutely delicious! There was only one gentleman serving as host, waiter, and busboy for the whole place, but he handled it like a pro. We had a great experience and we'd return again.

Great family breakfast!

This place was priced wonderfully and the food was great!! Just know the portions are huge, my daughter and I could share 1 plate of French Toast! Service was on point as well!

Delicious scrapple

By @diningonadime1 |

I must say that I have been coming here for years but I have been seeing alot of great stuff on their Instagram page such as scrapple french fries and decided to go back in... I found out that the unique new menu items are due to new ownership... The scrapple here is one of the best in the city and goes perfectly with their delicious breakfast

Wonderful breakfast in a neighborhood diner

The only "problem" is trying to decide what to choose from the menu and specials. There were some unique offerings (my choice: the Port Richardson, scrambled eggs with kielbasa) as well as some amazing sounding waffles, pancakes and more. Food was great, plenty of coffee and a very attentive and efficient waitstaff. A range of comfortable seating arrangements, including tables, a bar, and big and small booths. Great food at a great price.
