Great value, great choice, great service!

By Brizzlewolf |

We were staying at a hotel around the corner, and this diner became our go-to restaurant after a long day sightseeing. We did appreciate being able to slide into a comfy booth, be greeted with a warm welcome and then order from the extensive, great-value menu (including plenty of healthy options, btw). My favourite was the omelette with home fries (these turned out to be a sort of bubble-and-squeak), along with a steaming daily mug of hot chocolate. My husband enjoyed his veggie/beyond burgers and his genteel green tea. Thanks to Julissa and friends for their friendly smiles and great service, from the two old Brits in the corner booth!

Great food even greater donuts!

By Matthew C |

Excellent food, and their donut offerings are superb! The French Crueller with a touch of icing across the top was quite amazing

Brooklyn on a Saturday Evening

By Susan E |

We were staying overnight at the Wyndham Garden on the next block and passed this diner on our search for a place to eat dinner. After walking toward 55th St on 5th Ave and not finding anything appetizing we came back to the Sunset Park Diner. We were warmly greeted by our server and she gave us several recommendations. We wound up ordering Swiss cheeseburgers that were good. My husband had grilled onions as well on his. Coleslaw and a pickle came with the burgers. We shared the French fries which were an ample portion. The fries were hot cooked just right and delicious. I think Rachel was our server and she was very nice and pleasant. The prices are very good, reasonable. Try a mix of lemonade and raspberry tea as a beverage, it was not only pretty to look at but tasty! I like the interior of the diner it was very warm and clean. Next time will go back for breakfast.

food is great - service depends on your waitstaff

By katy-lied |

Ate here twice last week. Tuesday was great with attentive service and fast delivery of food. Cheesesteak was exceptionally good with real steak and fresh - huge portion. Free soda refills. Thursday (Thanksgiving) opted for the Turkey with trimmings dinner. Turkey and stuffing was obviously reheated and gravy was lukewarm. Waiter was disinterested , maybe because he had to work Thanksgiving ? Very conveniently located and cosy diner. Would return if in the area.

Great place to eat

This place is conveniently located in front of the bus stop. Staff is very friendly, and the food is excellent.

Good food

By echappell86 |

Stumbled across this place after searching for food near our hotel on 33rd street. It was about a fifteen minute walk from our hotel but it was worth it. They offer a wide range of foods on their menu. I got the honey dipped fried chicken, I was mad because I could not eat it all. My friends enjoyed their meals as well. The waiter was very friendly and hilarious. The food came out quick. They also deliver in the event you don't want to travel to the restaurant. The restaurant serves it's purpose as a diner. That is why I rated it excellent.

Breakfast enought for all day long!

By OctavioMexico |

Small and very clean place. The staff is bilingual, friendly and know very well the menu, food quantity is enough to kill any hungry stomach! The relation price quality is ok. The restaurant is almost full at all times, but you can get a table in less than 15 minutes. The preparation, presentation and flavor of the several dishes I tried are very good. In few words, eat in this place is a must!

Very good!

By Shandel4556 |

Stayed at the days inn so it was a short walk. All I can say is omg amazing! ! All 5 of us enjoyed our meal s , the Phillips cheese stake is so delicious! The salads are good and sandwiches, stay away from the pastas, mushy. But all of our other 5 meals were great! Staff is very friendly and good service! Came back 3 times.

Good donuts

By NYCleveland |

The pumpkin donut was delicious, and the others they had looked good and fresh. The other food, including the blueberry pie and mozzarella sticks, were ok. Nice staff too.

Fun, Family, Friendly, GOOD FOOD

By T G |

Just around the corner from the Comfort Inn. Staff was all so friendly and the food was great was there twice for bfast and lunch. Great fries which I rarely give up the calories for but these were good. Perfect grilled cheese with tomato. Not fancy food but you do get what you are paying for. Clean and comfortable place.

A bus drivers hang out.

By frank g |

The Jackie Gleason bus depot is next door so you have hundreds of NYC bus drivers and workers eating here at all times of the day. The coffee is good n hot, baked goods are good . The egg breakfast specials are very good too.

Great eats 24 hours a day

By MaryPatF804 |

This was a good diner. The food is good. It is reasonably priced for NY area. It is open 24 hours. My husband and I had breakfast there on 9/24/17. It was a short walk from the 2 star hotel we stayed at. It is located in Brooklyn Chinatown area. The food was good, the coffee never ending, pleasant service, and reasonably priced. I would go there again.

An Oasis in Sunset Park

By ElGringoAmistoso |

Many of the restaurants in Sunset Park are little more than take-out windows. However, the Sunset Park Diner is a pleasant oasis with its quiet dining area. The wait staff is friendly and attentive, and the food is good and reasonably priced. The Sunset Park Diner is a nice place for a leisurely lunch.

Best diner in Brooklyn

By Martin B |

This is the best diner we've ever visited in New York, and in the US as a whole. Excellent value breakfast with very generous portions, and donuts are great as well - and very cheap. A proper, authentic and friendly neighbourhood diner.

Hidden Gem!

By Amanda352 |

Located right around the corner from the Days Inn, amazing late night food choices and fun service!! Cash only tho, as most things in this neighborhood are.

Cozy Little Neighborhood Diner

By Stanley R |

While staying in this area we were looking for a quick dinner that would satisfy multiple types of food. This cozy little neighborhood diner was half a block away from our hotel. We had a broiled Cod dinner which was well prepared and a corned beef on rye sandwich that was very lean and quite filling. Our server Gil was quite friendly and attentive. This restaurant is open 24/7 and as most NYC diners should satisfy anyone’s needs. Wine and beer is also served.

Good Food and Service

Great food and service , ordered take out, friendly staff, Environment very clean and welcoming, food was hot and quickly served and very good portion as well. Thank you

Always packed

By Sunset92 |

This diner is always crowed. The bus depot and many businesses are close by. They defiantly are located in a good place for business. There's usually a short wait to be seated My husband loves this place and decided to take his family. We honestly did not care for the home fries, they were very greasy. I also felt that it was too chaotic for me. I must be in the minority because it's a popular place.

Very good burger and friendly service.

By Rhys C |

I have to admit that I wasn’t expecting great things from this Diner. However, it was so good I went back the next night! Big big portions, tasty food, good prices. What’s not to like? Big thanks to Carmen for being so friendly (and adding a touch of humour). The décor is typical diner style – formica and plain with booths. I had the burger rare, which was an excellent choice. Plus the chips (fries) are excellent, crisp and flavoursome. I would highly recommend the wings with blue cheese sauce. Extra delicious. The next night I had the chicken burrito special, which was very good as well. Sadly they don’t do wine – be warned if you like wine. All in all, very good, I would go back if I am ever in that area (which I hope not) again. Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

Perfect Diner: Cheap and Fast

By WorfsBabyMama |

Our room key at the Comfort Inn around the corner had an advertisement for the diner. It is easily within walking distance. This is the quintessential diner. Great breakfast. Fast service. No frills. Good food. They don't take cards, but there is an ATM. They also deliver within a reasonable distance and the delivery was fast as heck. If I'm ever in the neighbourhood again I will go back.

Great Food Open 24 Hours

By 61georgiaboy |

Had a western omelet and home fries. The food was great. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. They have great looking donuts but I opted for a piece of cheesecake. It was VERY good. Only sorry I discovered this gem on the last night of my week long stay in Brooklyn.

Cash only/Credit cards online

This place has been around for over 30 years located very close to the actual park that Sunset Park is named after. The diner is small, but very neat and clean, it has a classic diner atmosphere to it with a counter area in the front and stools. They offer free delivery on orders over $10. The prices are reasonable and the waitstaff is competent, no issues to complain about. We came here after a long day of moving stuff out of storage, I tried the 5 oz. Homemade Veggie Burger for $4 paired with a hot green tea. It was delicious. It comes with a pickle on a sesame seed bun. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely eat here again. You can order online at sunsetparkdiner.com, enter promo code "sunseny" for a $5 discount, expires 2/28/2012.

It's a diner what to expect

By wallywest30 |

The food is average diner food. Nothing really exciting. The only great thing is that they are open 24hrs which is nice. I suggest it for late night food but not as a lunch or dinner place.

Came in after traveling all night

By Kenneth P |

My wife and I traveled all night and were hungry for breakfast. We found this dinner online and decided to give it a try. The food was delicious and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. My wife had over easy eggs with corned beef hash and ham. I had over easy eggs with chorizo hash. I have never had chorizo hash before and it was also very good. The coffee was also excellent. If I am in Brooklyn again I will be sure to hit this spot for breakfast!

It's an American diner! Great food and service

By him_1983 |

This is simply an American diner. The food is well priced and you get good portions for what you pay. The service is friendly and quick. If you're looking for a posh meal this isn't the place for you but if you want to try out an American diner, go here!

Average at best

By Brent R |

Something on a Saturday morning for breakfast. Don't expect anything out of the ordinary. I would say the service was slow to average at best. We had the eggs benedict and an omelette. The eggs benedict was pretty good with The Omelette was scorched in the potatoes with cold. I would say the right toast was the best thing I had at breakfast. They do have good coffee but I only had one cup because I couldn't get the waiter to come back and fill me up again. Not sure I would go back but they seem to have a good local following so maybe I just hit a bad day.

Wide Ranging Menu & 24/7

By Zoom_Gotti |

On the corner of 39th street and 5th Avenue near popular Sunset park. The restaurant is open all day but seems to draw most of its customers on weekend mornings. The menu is expansive, carries regular diner fare, and there are lunch specials. Right by 2 bus tops, this restaurant is very easy to find. Tourists might like it because of the moderate prices.

Like a trip back in time

By Sandy S |

I loved this diner! I felt a bit like Marty McFly walking back in time and I enjoyed every second here enormously. It's in a very local are of Brooklyn and away from all the hipsters. It's cheap, the food is hearty and tasty and it's an authentic old school set up that really gives you a taste of time gone by.

Very rich

Ordering out and dining in

By Jackie_JDM |

I have ordered from here many times not realizing I had been to same place in person. Their food is great and has great prices. In person I have always been treated well by staff, always seated fast and with no problems, and food was always served fresh and timely. Ordering out : When I order through seamless they always arrive earlier than predicted time. The food is always amazing. I have tried multiple things on menu and am never disappointed. The best thing ever? The surprises I get on most orders. I found out the reason they sent me extra pastries on certain orders was because over a certain amount on bill they will send out some goodies. That is sweet of them! Even when I place a low order I am always surprised. On a day where in recovering from the flu and was too sick to get up and cook I ordered out. I wanted a coffee and donut for later, to my surprise as always they gave me extra donuts of a variety, sweet!!! Don’t worry I share lol! And seal them to keep fresh for later if there’s no one to share with! LOL It’s a small restaurant and gives a mom and pop feel , they pay attention to detail and to quality. Definitely go here! And or order from here! Jackie 💜

Awesome food. Service Stinks.

By Ron22dell |

Service and first impression I came to this Diner around last night. I was greeted by a nice older man. He told me to sit anywhere. Everything was going pleasant. Then 5 to 10 minutes went by and I was introduced to another female waitress who I think did not take her job seriously. To begin with, this waitress have little to no attention to my needs. Second, after my first drink of water she waited and talked with the other waiter. So clearly no communication. At the end of my dinner / breakfast I asked for a bill and she put the bill facing down. This is for a tip for anyone who want to eat at this diner BEWARE OF THE SALES TAX. The waitress claimed that it was the computer and clearly she was lying because I looked at the menu and the price says that all orders to not include tax. So to wrap it up. My experience of being served is below average Food - I place an order of cheeseburger deluxe meal and let Me tell you it was. Nothing lower than fantastic. The fries was crispy outside and nice and tender. The cheese burger was super. It was tender and cooked througly. My complients to the chef. My overall experience is Value - good Customer service - terrible Taste of food - great to awesome.

I thought this was a real find

By MaryTraveler2 |

In an area of Brooklyn where most of the "restaurants" were take-out or delivery places, this was a place where you could sit in a booth and be served. My husband and I had dinner and one breakfast there. Our waitress at dinner was charming, and she was equally charming at the register for breakfast. All the staff were friendly and made us feel at home, and the food was really good.

Friendly,generous, honest breakfast.

By KTJ60 |

We may have passed this place by, fortunately we nipped in for take away coffee but spent this and the following two mornings of our stay tucking into truly wholesome breakfasts. The staff were genuinely friendly and offered additional touches like free orange juice and coffee top ups. The waffles and Blueberries were delicious and the granola and fruit were attractively presented too. I would highly recommend this diner and even wanted to nip back during the night if I'd had the energy!

Bomb Chilaquiles, no-fuss brunch spot

By Raventwisp |

Felt right at home at the sunset park diner. Tasty menu - I opted for Chilaquiles and my friends ordered off the Brunch Specials menu as well. Great hot chocolate, very friendly waitress. Did not get the donuts, but hey, gives me a reason to come back!

Great 24 hour diner that delivers

By Jay M |

I live nearby and have eaten here and ordered delivery food countless times. Uniformly good, friendly service (dining there is cash only), and very reasonably priced.

Okay food, friendly staff

By Thorbjørn B |

Went here to eat breakfeast while in NYC. The food wasnt great but the staff was nice and the prices okay

Nice small family-run restaurant with a good atmosphere

By Daniel B |

I enjoyed this restaurant. I was greeted nicely as I entered and was allowed to choose any table. The order was accurate and delivery was timely. The food was good and I enjoyed the atmosphere. This is a good establishment in a busy neighborhood. The food is reasonably priced.

The Worst!!

By Boobber B |

Food is not that great tasting & service sucks especially when ordering over the phone. They always mess up my order & the one time I called to complain about it, the guy yells at me, puts me on hold purposely than hangs up the phone on me. I felt so disrespected, and I will never ever buy food from that place again. Besides prices are way to high for their horrible food. Diner betweeen 10th & 9st & 5th ave is much better.

Friendly staff, good food

By smilingcarolyn |

We ate here twice and stopped one evening for a donut. The food is fresh and service was really great. It is a small Diner but were always busy when we were there. They do take out and have a delivery service. They are on the corner of 39th Street & 5th Avenue.

Great Lunch

By Deb D |

Stopped in on a weekday for lunch with coworkers. Great food, really good service. Good diner food, wide-ranging menu.

Typical Old Fashioned Diner... and Prices! Great Spot

By Kim M |

Wide ranging menu, good prices and the donuts... oh the donuts! Service was quick, too! We'd definitely go back. AND we will, as it's a good location, not too far from subway.

AMAZING FRIENDLY BREAKFAST!!!
