Bread and more bread

By WinnisTravels |

Absolutely love their breads and pastries. I always dream about it... I also tell people to bring me back some if they do plan on going. Yes, a little pricey for some, but so worth it. I love the flaky pastries most. I just eat it up and can't share.

Great bread baked on the premises.

By Alan C |

Just walked in whilst waiting for our Air Bnb to be ready. Friendly atmosphere, great beer and wine selection and, of course, amazing bread baked on the premises. We just had bread and a couple of pastes and that was enough for lunch. A bit pricey, but we thought it worth it.

Great pastries

By The_Goddess_in_KA |

I was just here to chat with a friend and drink coffee and share a pastry. It wasn't busy so we were able to hang out for a while and no one rushed us. All of the baked good looked delicious.

Tasty but expensive

By R R |

Breakfast was very good and the service friendly. Unfortunately, with the outside temperature just under 15 degrees, all the doors were open, so it was uncomfortably cold. Very good bread, also to take away. Unfortunately, the prices are completely excessive.

Had just arrived in Venice after a long flight and all I wanted was a good and comfortable food!!So,I found Superba!!I was goind to buy some coffee and something to go,but the place was so pelasant, that I decided to take a sit.Had a delicious toast with avocado, kale and eggs!!All organic, healthy and delicious!!!Totally recommended!!

Highly recommended

By itsBG |

Great food, with interesting combinations, great service, with all the staff looking after you, not just one server, and nice atmosphere. Oh yes, great coffee! No view, on a busy road, but worth it

Great bread. Quickie review.

By Jamey D |

All I got at Superba today was toasted bread and an espresso, and both were great. The bread was fresh, had good ingredients on it, and tasted great, while the espresso was strong, but not too overpowering. I intend to come back here in the near future.

Busy but Worth It

By Billyjoe52 |

We celebrated a birthday here recently. The breakfast foods were interesting, creative, tasty, and delicious. There was a bit of a wait but what do you expect in Venice. They have a full bar with a complement of beers and wines. We were not rushed even though the place was busy. Other customers ate and left but we were allowed to enjoy, not only our meal, but our visit. This one is worth a return visit.

Suberba on Sunset is Superb!

By Julia W |

This review is for the Superba on Sunset. Very happy to find this place as our Hotel was on Hollywood Blvd & we walked for ages trying to find a proper restaurant among the fast food stalls. This is a hidden gem - the food was fantastic & reasonably priced. The staff friendly & both indoor & outdoor seats are in a romantic setting.

Mmmmmmm

By MsTravelJones |

Delicious, Delicious, Delicious! Great bakery and pastries. Well made coffee and coffee drinks. Tasty food options. All in a light, bright setting. Great place to relax.

Nice addition in boring neighborhoods

By Phayao13 |

Really L.A. The bones of the building and the materials used for infrastructure provide almost the only decoration . A bit like a Rose Cafe but in simpler design. There's nothing mind-blowing here, no great leaps forward in culinary innovation. More of comfort food for the modern L.A resident, aquaint ingredients like kale, chia seeds,avocado..... Nice reception and informative service for those who are unfamiliar with the menu language. But when the final bill ends at around $ 50 for two at breakfast it must be good. However, the pastry seemed to be a bit oversized to be delicate.

large portions

By dziran |

The portions are large. Enjoyed a smoked turkey sandwich and crispy brussel sprouts. The breads are good. The decor is modern. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Arrive before the rush. Parking is a challenge. We parked a block or so away and walked over.

Excellent and cool vibe

By travelingworkingmom |

We came for lunch on a weekend and ordered basically everything off the lunch menu. Was amazing. Also loved the desserts. Very please with this easy going and delicious place. You can order at counter or at table. Kid friendly. Very healthy.

Good Atmosphere and Interesting Food

By NSMKMelbourne |

This is a bakery that has been turned into a restaurant with an interesting selection of menu items. The decor is simple but has a good feel. The items on the menu are designed to be shared. There were three people at our table; we selected five "small" dishes and one "large" dish and that was more than enough. A couple of the dishes were less exciting than others but the overall quality was very good. The most enjoyable dishes we tried were the smoked trout, the cauliflower and the Brussel sprouts. My only complaint about service is that we asked for the meal to be spread out over a reasonable time but after receiving two dishes one at a time the final three dishes arrived together which was disappointing. We brought our own wine and were charged $10 per person for corkage which was reasonable for restaurant of this quality. In summary, a very interesting meal; we would like to return.

Great Bread...Delicious Food..So-So location.

By filmguy1 |

We decided at the last minute to go to Superba after a long college tour trip. My daughter is Vegan who usually prefers all Vegan restaurants but we decided to try this since they mentioned Vegan options. Well, she was not happy with the Vegan dish which was just a soup and ingredients. The restaurant would be amazing if they had a unique Vegan appetizer, entree and dessert. But the homemade “Bread” was loved by all of us—we are from outside NYC and have not seen a dish like this! We also had some incredible and savory dishes which were detailed by a great waiter. I particularly loved the Trout dish. The atmosphere was unique and laid-back inside—it almost felt like you were at someone’s country home. I wasn’t crazy about the area—it felt very desolate at night. I heard their brunch is a knockout!

Always good and always fun

By Jerry P |

I have been here many many times and have never been disappointed. Chefs change. Managers come and go. But it is always very good.

Great food, disappointing service

By Amanda Ellis |

I can not discredit the food however, the service we received this evening was unbelievablely dissappinting. Left without drinks during our main meal after several requests, yet provided with the check without request due to the waitress advising us she was due to finish anytime and that she thought it would be advisory to present the check... This was done without any consideration to us wanting dessert, coffee or further drinks. Such a shame to what would have been a lovely evening if only a little more care and attention had been provided.

Overrated

By Paris-LANatasha |

Wine is served like Marrocan tea ???? Some dishes are interesting but not outstanding nor really original, the space is cold and pseudo trendy but does not make it for overall satisfaction Easy parking around for a place which is on still unfriendly Lincoln boulevard and is more like a family eatery than a experimental dining experience.

Superb!

By EricLosAngeles |

This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Have had both lunch and dinner here. Dinner was outstanding - had the persimmon burrata salad and turkey dinner - the turkey was a very interesting take on the holiday meal - everything miniaturized but all there and delicious. Also had the brussel sprouts and deep fried cauliflower - yummy.

Brunch Game Strong!

By SoMuchAloha |

What's better than super friendly hosts that seat you quickly? Superba Food + Bread, winning already in my books! Brunch was delicious and they have the best iced coffee! Also had delicious food for a Keto diet! It's not cheap, but I would say add this to your list of places to eat while in Venice! It's worth it!

Nice dinner option

By Lackerfollow |

We went on a Tuesday night, so the restaurant was quiet and the service was prompt. The food was very good overall, but the Brussel sprouts were DELICIOUS and I will return to Superba to order them again. Our waitress was professional and cheery and the service was efficient. A solid choice for a weeknight dinner.

Our weekly go to

By scoobyshaggyscrappy |

We live close by and it is one of the few places on the westside that serves brunch until 5pm. We usually cruise in around 3 or 4pm and get brunch. Food is pretty good. We typically get the yogurt with homemade granola with seasonal fruit. It is damn good. Of course, you can't do brunch without mimosas so I always order that. If you go earlier, the place is crowded. There is a cute outdoor seating area, but it is always packed with humans and dogs. Overall, service and food are pretty good. While it's one of our regular haunts, it will never replace Willie Jane on Abbott Kinney. I'm still super sad it's closed. :(

Charming and Venice

By Helene W |

Nice selection of breakfast, pastries, lunch and so forth. Very open air and lovely interior design. Some parking and pleasant staff.

Superba's with an open-air feel

By Phayao13 |

Laid back and pleasant environment, the same applies to the staff.Wonderful exposure of the good bread.A really good breakfast place in my taste.

Come for the bread, stay for dinner

By dgs5536 |

Wonderful outdoor dining. Very friendly staff. Start off with the bread with the cheese spread. Or just stick to their great butter. Had the pasta, great sause!

Top Notch

By Blaron2017 |

This place was absolutely fabulous!!!! Coffee was great, good was amazing and the service - despite how busy it was was great. We didn't have to wait for a thing. You can choose to eat inside or outside. They have heaters outside for colder mornings. The baking was AMAZING!!! We bought a loaf of bread home to Canada with us!

Great food and atmosphere

By Marc B |

Met some friends here for casual meal. The food was great and really enjoyed everything there. None of us had a bad meal. I can recommend the burger for sure. Would definitely go back.

Great spot in Venice with lots of delicious offerings

By Judith A |

WOW, bread, pastries and other great things to eat. Coffee fabulous. Nice folks working there and even some parking, a plus. Take out is great but not so cheap, quality the best! Bread I took home stayed fresh for days-

My temporary local

By S R |

I stayed nearby Superba so ended up here a couple of times. Each time, the staff were the best balance of friendly, efficient and professional. There were great options for food, drinks and treats to take home after. It's a gorgeous chill space with a cracking soundtrack playing in the background! All-round favourite spot and I miss not living near it!

Artisanal Hipster Bakery Cafe that's great

By lisathetraveller |

Fantastic coffee, great cheesy eggs, ok scone, friendly service. Not cheap, but very well done. We got there before 9am so there was no table service, but we ordered at the counter and our food was delivered. Great people watching. Fun patio seating. Neighborhood parking.

Quintessential California Eatery

By EZTravelBuff |

We enjoyed breakfast/brunch here. The menu is fun and overall healthy with some unique options like Chia Pudding. My husband ordered the french toast and the whole family was stealing bites. My son had a burger and said thumbs up. You can sit inside or out but even inside you feel like you are outside (at least for this East Coaster). Very cool tables and decor. It's popular and tough to find a parking spot sometimes (what else is new in LA?). Highly recommend.

Best Bread by the Beach

By Terri S |

Bread, Baguettes, Croissants, Scones (moist not dry) and MORE. For me it's all about the baked goods and coffee, which are a much needed addition to the neighborhood. Only tried one sandwich and it was only ok. There is a new desert case and it all looks gem-like and delicious. Tiny parking lot, best to look for parking on the street. The space is bright, airy and welcoming.

Croque Madame Sandwich Is Decadent

By bfcbeachbum |

If you are really hungry - order the Croque Madame sandwich. All of the food here is excellent! The staff is friendly + helpful.

Delucious

By Hopsabroad |

We had brunch here and could not fault it. Food, service, atmosphere was fantastic. You can also eat lunch and dinner and if we had more time we would have been back. It's behind the busy tourist strip but well worth a visit.

Never Got Waited On

By tmgmdny |

Stopped in here with a friend who lives in the area. The restaurant was about 1/4 filled with most people already eating. It took 2 people at the host stand to seat us. And then nothing. Every now and then a waiter would walk by but he never looked over and never stopped. We waved to him but he ignored us. The table next to us had menus when we sat down but were also looking around for a waiter. The table on the other side of us sat quietly, waiting. After 10 minutes, a busboy dropped off a check to the table next to us. 5 Minutes after that, the table to the other side had the waiter stop by to take their order. The waiter then turned to the single person behind him and said, "I'll be back in a minute." And away he went never acknowledging us or noticing that someone was at the table. My friend could see the bar and she noted there were three people there with aprons on doing nothing. Since we'd already waited 20 minutes, had not been acknowledged and no one had even brought water to the table, we got up and left. The Hosts were surprised we were leaving. When I said, "No one has acknowledged us in 20 minutes. You obviously don't want my business so we'll go somewhere that does," her response was, "I'm sorry but I'm sure the waiter will be with you in a minute." Really????? If this is service with just a few people then I can't imagine what it's like when there are more. Of course, it was 6:30 on a Saturday night so maybe they don't ever get more.

nice

By Ben A |

ave revisited Superba several times for 1 main reason: their incredible sourdough bread. It is so soft, delicious & baked to perfection! I often go here to grab a sliced loaf of the sourdough as a special treat. I've also revisited for lunch & have really enjoyed the Cajun shrimp salad. Superba is a great place for lunch when in the Venice area - the food is delicious, there are many options for all dietary restrictions & the vibes are amazing!

Excellent, Healthy Food and Great Service

By ggrimes |

Superb Food + Bread has wonderful, tasty, healthy food served by a knowledgeable, friendly waitstaff. We visited twice during our vacation to Venice Beach, CA and will definitely go back next time we are in town.

Fresh, creative and laid back

By Deanna722 |

A friend (who is a good friend of Superba's owner) suggested we go while on a quick trip to LA. So glad we did. They started us with Charred Thick Cut Bread and it was amazing. We used the last of the bread to sop up the remaining pickled peach vinaigrette from the Heirloom Tomato Salad. I wouldn't have expected peaches to work so well with some of the best heirloom tomatoes, but it was excellent. My husband had the Black Rice and I had the Grilled Dry Aged NY Strip. The Black Rice had just a touch of curry and coconut to give it a big boost of personality. My steak - 7 oz - was perfectly sized, prepared and served. Our waiter, Vinny, steered us toward selections that really suited us. He brought me two red wine tastings in a blind sample - the one I had selected and the one he prefers. His won - hands down. Staff were all personable, approachable and helpful. Overall, a very good experience and good value. Excellent experience

Quirky really good food

By Lauren B |

I went with a friend and tried a bit everything - cheese board, veggies, Mac and cheese, carbonara, chicken. All of it was good. The design is very quirky and everyone is upbeat. We needed up being the last ones there, but the staff were having fun and really relaxed about it. Service was good, food was so yummy. I loved it and I will definitely go back.

Very good food in a bright and airy setting

By Cornelius M |

We arrived for a small family dinner and were immediately seated at a comfortable table. Servers, and there were many, were extremely attentive, taking our order quickly in view of the fact that we had some time pressure. Can’t comment on the alcohol because we skipped it but the watermelon lemonade was refreshing. We started with the charred bread which is a meal in itself. Two giant slabs of bread with a knife connecting them! Nice garlic and chive topping. Next we had the burrata and stone fruit appetizer. The fruit was a little hard but the burrata was mouthwatering. The little gem Caesar will easily feed two people. For main courses I ordered the Brentwood corn and the Aspen Ridge cheeseburger. The corn is well seasoned and the cheeseburger comes with a Russian dressing in which sweet pickles are embedded. Both well made but nothing special. My wife raved about the smoked trout with caviar and creme fraiche and my son liked the lamb ribs. The “birthday cake” ice cream dessert was only fair, without a lot of flavor. On balance, a very good meal with fine service. I would return.

3 x's a winner: bakery and coffee

By aventine |

We ate here three mornings while on vacation by ordering baked goods and cappuccinos and each time was delicious. My only regret was how rich and delicious everything was. Highly recommend the apple tart, the pain du chocolate, the almond croissant, the banana bread, the carrot cake muffin, the sourdough bread, the almond butter and honey. The tahini browns was delicious but was not that tahini. Everyone was thoroughly nice and we met a lot of folks. There is dinner and lunch sit down and three tables for take away to eat at. Must be vaccinated to eat inside. Love this place. Thankful for my first trip to LA and to eat somewhere with lovely food, great staff and feel like somewhere very special!

Superb veggie burger and excellent coffee!

By Robin R |

A great space on Lincoln, nice atmosphere ... good menu - delicious veggie burger and roasted Brussels Sprouts too! The cappuccino was one of the best ever. We will be going back soon!

Good coffee!

By Aron P |

We were staying close by and needed breaky and coffee (preferably a good coffee). Thankfully this place came to the rescue! Despite only having the cereal with yoghurt and fruit, we really enjoyed it (made in-house I believe). The coffee was great too. Well made and a good flavour. They have a great selection of sweats, the menu for both brunch and dinner looked good and re venue is big with an outdoor option. I think it's worth a visit.

Artisan baked goods to die for

By Todd G |

Lively atmosphere in a mid-century design with a contemporary twist coupled with great service and an eclectic menu of made-from-scratch offerings makes for a wonderful dining experience, especially for breakfast/brunch which can be a hard find. But what makes Superba worth the search for parking is their bakery bar of standards mixed with some truly inspired creations.

Great local spot and dogs on the patio welcome

By Penelopewms |

Love this for breakfast and lunch. Great menu, everything so fresh. Open airy and welcoming. The toasts are nice to share and I like that you can get a salad bowl at breakfast. Their coffee is so good. Interesting egg dishes and their fresh baked breads

Such good bread!

By Symoné M |

The bread was very fresh and same with all the pastries. Their breakfast sandwich was to die for. Parking is very limited, but other than that it was amazing!

Great service and great food

By Em R |

Popped in to Superba late today with a hungry group of 8 after our lunch plans went south. Our waiter (sorry we didn't catch his name!!) was fantastic and really helpful with the menu. The grain bowl with chicken was so delicious and filling, the burgers were also outstanding. Only downside was the open plan of the restaurant left some of us a bit chilly, however they did offer blankets which was a nice touch.

Wonderful!!!!

By TwoAdventure |

Excellent! They have really improved their menu from when they first open. The service is much better. They have a wonderful private patio area in the back that is perfect for dinner parties. We love going there for breakfast. Great french toast and egg sandwich. Lunch and dinner is also great! They make one of the Best croissant in town. All the bakery items and breads are fabulous, but they are pricey compared to other places, worth it!.

Venice newcomer

By Btravel247 |

had brunch here and it was delicious. restaurant has a good casual Venice vibe and is set back off of Lincoln so you don't even notice the big main street you are on. service was a little slow, but other than that...pretty great.

Casual bread centric fun

By TRmichaels |

Excellent food, coffee, and wine. Great bread and sweets. Very kid friendly. Better for brunch than dinner. Beware of the high carb menu although there are alternatives like omelettes.

Tasty dinner with friends

By Jenny from Santa Cruz |

Our dinner was very good. My favorite part was the bread and the small plate appetizers. We had a very large group, which may have overwhelmed the staff a bit, so the service wasn't so speedy. But I imagine it was just the large size of our group.

Delicious, relaxing breakfasts

By D24 |

Nice hot coffee, delcious breakfast menu. Been 3 times this trip. Reliable place for relaxing meal. Would return if staying nearby again next trip....

4.5 for this Very Good restaurant in Venice, CA

By Dragon789wv |

My wife and I were here with our families and it was the first time for all of us at dinner. Service was Excellent, and the food was Very Good. Server gave us advice, was very attentive without us feeling that someone is 'intruding' or 'interrupting'. I had the Duroc Pork Chops ($23), which was very good, and not overcooked. I must admit that I thought the order would be one thicker chop, rather than 2 thinner ones. My wife had the Fried Cod ($23), which was very tasty, but what we were pleasantly surprised were the potatoes, with crispy tasty skins. My family had other dishes, which they also said was very good also. --- The restaurant states Food + Bread, and there were huge loaves of bread seen thru a window into the kitchen. We understand that the kitchen also bakes for other establishments, as well as sell to their own customers. Not that we missed it, but I thought it was very ironic that ... we were not offered any bread slices or rolls with our meal! Except for Asian and possibly Middle Eastern restaurants, we've always been given bread ... think American, Italian, French, and other European restaurants ... As I said, just surprised.

Such good pastries

By Julia S |

We had the good fortune of staying around the corner from Superba during Christmas holidays, and picked up something from there most days. The bread is excellent, the croissants are wonderful, and the little pastry treats are all delicious. Friends of ours had a meal there one night, and said that all of that food was good too.

Lovely place to have dinner

By Linda Z |

Loved this place! We made a roadtrip through america for 24 days and this was the restaurant where we ate the last evening. Best restaurant of the trip, with a lot of vega options. I had the burrata and sweet potato and they did not dissapoint. Also great cocktails! Bid expensive, but worth it. Coffee is also excellent!

So good I hate to share

By Ask2416 |

Sunday 5pm dinner with the family This is not about ambience. You will be happy to sit and enjoy clean fresh food. Wow, this blows away Gjelina the overly stuffy we're to cool for you spot. Superba please don't change your staff and family friendly environment Pork Shoulder 9/10 a bit smokey but fresh veggies and perfectly cooked Butcher cut steak 9/10 rare with delicious veggies and ordered dairy free Kale saag 9/10 rich flavors and large portion of winter veggie Bread 10/10 perfectly charred. One piece dairy free. Don't miss ! Oysters. 10/10 very fresh. Harry's berries gaviota tart. 9/10 don't miss! I rarely offer up 10/10. Chef and staff deliver fresh fresh food in a proper relaxed environment. Wine list we ordered the 2011 Fourrier gevrey Goulots that was priced fair for a restaurant menu. Enough choices for a young menu. Winner !!!!

Reliable great dinner/brunch spot

By Lexi |

Love the food - consistently excellent. Service is great. Reliable spot in Venice you don’t need a reservation for (though it is recommended). Try the roasted vegetables !

Best bread I've ever had

By Katie R |

THE BREAD. Seriously, I came here again just for the bread. Trust me, you must order the bread assortment with all 4 spreads. It is honestly quite filling and the spreads are a large size. The atmosphere is also why I came a second time. It feels cozy and luxurious, complete with gorgeous trees and lighting on a large outdoor patio. The indoor seating is great too, and they have a lovely private room that works wonderfully for a large group. The cocktails are also delicious, and the staff is so friendly. Superba is wonderful for business meetings, date nights, or a dinner with friends!

Fresh Stop

By Ginger R |

Lots of meat and vegetable possibilities here, plus a larger array of pastries and breads to take home than you would expect in what is primarily a sit-down restaurant. The farro risotto is particularly fine.

Lovely atmosphere, really good food.

By prontoeli |

Had a lovely meal there this weekend. Fabulous bread dipped in olive oil and butter (not exactly a health food treat; decadent and delicious!). Lovely fish dish, good pasta for my picky eater girl. Good wine - overall just lovely.

Amazing food beautiful design.

By Michael S |

I can not speak more highly of the food here at superba. Simply delicious and fresh. Most importantly though, it's a warm and welcoming environment making for a perfect place to relax and enjoy California sun.

I got the burger (with bacon added of course) and a gluten free bun-and it was super yummy. 4 starts overall because the food did not blow my mind like I have had happen at some restaurants, but it was extremely solid for what it was.

Made-from-scratch, tasty food

By Shanelle |

It’s a SUPERBa place for breakfast ;) Came here for breakfast on a Friday at 10am and had no problems getting a table. There’s an inside and outdoor eating area separated by a wall that they can move. There is heating outdoors but we opted to eat inside on a cafe table. There is a community table as well that is full service. Parking - there’s a small lot but it’s usually full. Better to find parking in the neighborhood adjacent. There’s also metered street parking across the street, since the restaurant is on Lincoln. Food - Waitress recommended the breakfast sandwich so that’s what we got. The egg was runny (yum), the bacon was thick cut, and the bread was so soft and the perfect texture. I really can’t get over the bread. It was so good. She told me that they make everything from scratch in the kitchen. The sandwich also had watercress and arugula along with an aioli. The aioli wasn’t spread evenly in the sandwich but it’s a minor point. The sandwich came with potatoes sprinkled with cheese. Eat them while they’re hot, because they’re perfectly crispy when they first come out, but they started getting a bit soggy in texture if you take too long in eating. It comes with ketchup as well so you don’t need to ask for it, but I would eat the outside part of the potato on its own and use the ketchup for the inside potato. Sandwich was $13. Ambiance - super cute and aesthetic. Really good place for a typical Instagram brunch spot. High ceilings, shrubbery in the corner, and a display case reminiscent of Bottega Louie in DTLA that showcases their pastries. There seemed to be quite a few regulars and everyone was just chilling. Service - Good. The waitress came by several times to fill up our waters, which was good because the water glasses are small. The hostess asked us before getting seated where we canted to sit and was kind enough to point out which baby in the adjacent table cried a lot, and which one was a quiet baby. So thoughtful! Tdlr; come here for a brunch date or to grab breakfast with a friend. Not cheap, but quality of the food makes up for it and the ambiance is cute.

Tasty Lunch Option

By Gabriel M |

The hippy burger is a delicious vegetarian option and goes well with the ginger beer. Salads are substantial and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. Great quick lunch on the way to the airport.

Very LA, superb but not perfection

By msaioli |

Not quite sure how I feel about this place which tries hard to be hip and cool. Our son takes us here for brunch when we visit him in LA. No complaints really about the food or the atmosphere although I haven't eaten anything that memorable, either. The big problem is the noise. We usually have a group of 5 or more and it's difficult to have a conversation! I also find the drinks to be overpriced and the service lackadaisical. For instance, we ordered a side of toast which was brought sans butter. Really? Of course, this is not really fine dining, and if taken as a fun twist on a diner, it is that.

A little jewel hidden in the heart of Los Angeles

By MV75 |

Magical setting in the heart of L’os Angeles. Dinner with the family in a patio that looks like an Argentine estencia. In the middle of the trees and with the soft sound of a fountain. The food is at frame height. We took pasta, delicious and perfectly al dente. It feels good after burgers and fries of all kinds.

Good place to eat

I'm from Italy and during my vacation i had a delicious diner here. I had salmon and veggie and it was very yummy. I will be back for sure. Thanks so much

Interesting

By Linda G |

My sister lives in the neighborhood and we walked over. We were immediately seated and nicely attended to by the staff. Staff is great and we had the most fun talking to the fellow who bused the table. We had read reviews and by and large agree with them. Whatever your age you will be treated well here, and in the early evening we could hear ourselves talk which was nice. We loved the selection of appetizers we ordered, especially the sweet pea and bacon mixture on bread. This had been highly advised and I agreed. I ordered the leg of lamb, and while it was fine, I cook it better at home so would not order that again. The desserts looked ravishing so we shared one with a latte. The coffee was as good as I have ever had, and the dessert was fine. The bread that was the basis of our appetizers was so good that I asked what it was and bought an $8 loaf to take home. Without the toppings it was just a good bread, a similar one which can be purchased at Whole Foods down the street for under $5. I want to go back as the chicken dinner looks good and reasonably priced (I think that was the Sunday special). The wine is a bit pricy, but I think I could enjoy a fairly priced dinner just eating the appetizers with a glass of wine. And, the coffee is so good that I think I'll try breakfast someday. Certainly this is a lovely place to meet up with a friend for a chat and light food/drink. Again, love the service people, the way we were treated, and enjoyed enough of the meal that I want to try more.

Great Casual Dining Experience !

By Champandcouture |

I give Superba Food and Bread a 5 (which I do not dish out often) because for what is striving to be... it does it perfectly. Walked over on an impulsive decision to try to out after a workout (we were a little underdressed).... ~As it was much more cute/chic than I was expecting it be. We walked into a lively, pretty, airy space and were greeted by a hipster (but very friendly) staff. Coffee was great but strong (insider info: they don't have cream, soy, or sweetners... just milk). My boyfriend and I shared the burrata toast ~ which was so tasty! Definite recommendation. We then proceeded with the Salmon BLT and the Chicken chopped salad. The Salmon Sandwich was so fresh, you could tell every part of it (Salmon, tomato, avocado, lettuce, and bread) was of the highest quality. Super filling yet so healthy and satisfying. We also got the fries which were tossed in rice wine vinegar and paprika. This is was such an interesting and tasty take on fries!! Hard not to eat to them all! The salad was simple, healthy, yet tasty and interesting !! (Their theme I guess... which is totally up my alley ; ) Chicken, chickpeas, lettuce and a sweet yogurt dressing. Their bakery stock...looked AMAZING!! I did not have a chance to try anything, but will next time as I will definitely be back! It was also so great to go somewhere in Venice which totally had the spirit of the area, but the staff didn't give you impression that everything you said and did was an interference with their existence. Good job Superba Food and Bread!

Mixed bag.

By Deborah L |

We visited the Superba in Hollywood after the Van Gogh Experience. Lovely atmosphere, friendly, attentive service. Our niece made the reservation on the bread being good. It was, and so were the oysters, but that’s it. Watered down drinks, poor wine-bu-the-glass choices. Rigatoni right out of the box with little sauce — tasteless. Peppered spaghetti — bland. Steak — good, enchiladas — bad. Crème brûlée — pudding in a bowl with tasteless toppings. Sorry we stopped.

Perfect vibe, amazing food, family friendly

By ExRIGuy |

Incredible find, great chill vibe. All sun-sheltered outdoor seating and indoor seating where all the walls open to the outside. Plenty of on-street parking nearby, and best of all kids were fine to bring in fact there were a few families with small children and everyone was fine with it. Must try anything with their amazing breakfast potatoes, the croissant French toast, and the regular buttered load toast. Eggs had rich orange small yolks so these were not your average chickens. Best breakfast we had on 11-day vacation.

By Ronald S |

Saw this place a few times driving by, finally decided to stop. i'm sure glad I did! . This place is excellent! Very hip and kinda swanky Venice eatrry! A Foodies dream! And a nice place to take your favorite guy or gal. It's lunch so we had the salad with Rotisserie chicken yum!, and the Bahn MI, a pork sandwich. Superba ! And glass of cab franc delicious! , it's a holiday*so wine at lunch is legal. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. . Can't wait to to the dinner menu

Lovely indoor/outdoor bakery on Lincoln Boulevard

By Hege M |

We were on our way to Abbot Kinney on our bikes for dinner when we ran into this very inviting indoor/outdoor restaurant/bakery right on Lincoln Blvd. and Marco Street. No need to go to Abbot Kinney. This place checks all the boxes. I really love the healthy and inventive salad/grain bowls, and my husband grew especially attached to the Mother Earth beer from San Diego. If you go between 5 and 6pm beware of the the staff/menu switch, when nobody seem to know which menu items can be ordered. You have to place your order at the counter and it may take a bit longer to arrive. The place is in a bit of a disarray. Not a big deal as long as you are able to secure a glass of wine and take a seat on the lovely patio.

Superb!

We went to Superba for breakfast/brunch & had a fantastic meal. Lovely relaxed vibe, sitting outside on a warm spring day, great coffee - loved everything about it!

Really disappointed

By Elaine S |

Went there today for brunch, was really happy to get seated so quickly then things went downhill. One of us sat down first and realized the bench cushion was soaking wet, someone came to help, apologized and got us a chair, then we ordered and waited a long time for our food. First to arrive are our lattes and they are luke warm but we make excuses and continue with our chit chat and wait for our food. When the food arrives the cheesy eggs look runny not fluffy, it looked like they had been left under the warming lamp too long. The oatcake came next and looked delicious as did the omelette and potato order. we each tried to make the best of it but as we started eating the cheesy egg it was obvious it wasn't going to be enjoyable, the eggs were overpowered by the cheese that had separated and the toast underneath was soggy. We told our server who offered to make us more scrambled eggs but we declined. Fast forward it's time to leave, no one comes over to ask what they can do to make our experience better and we are presented with full bill. This is not how you get repeat customers. Seems as if Superba doesn't care about their customer experience.

Superba - Trendy cool in Venice

By SMOgal |

Go for the coffee and enjoy breakfast with atmosphere. Chill atmosphere with very nice servers who are attentive and don't rush you out the door.

Good dinner variety

By mrh16 |

Good choice of small plates- the carrots were excellent as was the Caesar salad. Some kind of fancy chocolate pudding was an incredible end.

Delicious Californian cool

By motughosh |

California cool. We loved Superba visited once for lunch and once for dinner. If we lived in Venice it would quickly become a regular haunt as it really is what you would dream healthy LA living to be. Food is fresh, eclectic and focused on taste. The kids enjoyed the fries, burger, bread and pasta whilst we tucked into Nicoise salad. Lamb with pomegranate was really good and the wine list is fresh and accessible. Breakfast look amazing. It's a little outside of the touristy Venice but we walked from Abbott Kinney and it was all part of the experience. You will not be disappointed!

Great brunch spot

By Stumblesalot |

Came here on a recommendation from a friend who nearby in Venice. It has a open-air feel throughout and is very chill. I had the yogurt & granola and my husband had the egg sandwich - both were excellent. They also have fantastic cold-brew coffee. Baked goods looked amazing as well, although we didn't have anything from the case. Reasonably priced and would definitely go back.

California cafe

By Ed G |

A stand alone building with a parking lot and a modern, clean interior. Even a nice bathroom with Myer's soap. The menu is eclectic and the heavy food looks good but the real interest is the cafe stuff. A large assortment of bakery items that actually taste good. Muffins, scones, croissants, stuffed things and lots of this type of stuff. All expensive-$5- a piece but good with coffee. The pizza is flat bread crust with many toppings and $8 a slice which feeds 2. This is a good place to go for breakfast or lunch and local action. Many beautiful people and small but friendly tables. Its Venice about a mile from the beach.

This is a gem of a spot. Friendly, relaxed service; cool vibe; interesting dishes. Loved everything that came out of the kitchen. Perfect for sharing and enjoying a meal with friends.

Best Brunch on the West Side

By Kljack19 |

This is my favorite spot on the West Side for brunch. I am so lucky I can walk here! I absolutely love the big, warehouse, open air feel of the place. It makes for a laid back, cool atmosphere. The coffee bar is a big plus when you are waiting for a table. You can chill out on the front stoop with an iced latte and not feel in a rush at all. I highly suggest getting a sampling of several of their toasts. My favorites are the maple custard and jam of the week. Their bread is, obviously, outstanding. Also, you need to scope out the pastry bar before you sit. Their pretzel croissant and regular croissant are awesome. I also love the cherry scone and their pound cakes. My favorite entree is the grain bowl with avocado. Such an interesting mix of flavors and not too heavy. I love everything about this place.

Fun vibe with absolutely delicious food

By Kaitlyn F |

We were so impressed by our meal at Superba! The service was great, all employees were so friendly and attentive to our needs. I have a kind of complicated diet due to some allergies and the kitchen was accommodating. The atmosphere was so much fun with the indoor/outdoor dining options, exposed prep space and coffee bar. Great place to grab a casual but delicious bite without the chaos of closeby areas such as Abbott Kinney and Venice Beach.

Love it!

By TheFunFoodie |

Love this adorable restaurant in Venice. There’s neat porch seating that has heat lamps when it’s cold as well as regular seating. The bread items here are fabulous. The Avocado Toast is so good and the bread it comes on is the most incredible bread I’ve ever tasted. Their Burrata is fabulous too! We loved the Angel Hair Pasta! The desserts fell a little short for us. But in all we had an awesome evening here and will definitely be back!

Very nice place!

By Joy1717 |

It is one of my favorite places in LA. The menu is interesting but has not many positions. Atmosphere is very relaxing - just sit, relax and enjoy the food. Recently I had breakfast here and it was incredible. I choose a pancake - it was so big so I couldn’t eat even a half. And coffee was perfect for early morning. Also they have a bakery with wide choice of buns, cakes and cookies and they are delicious!

A pleasant surprise

By BobCNewJerseyUSA |

When I entered the restaurant my expectations were not that high but that quickly changed with an order of special bread. From there the food got even better as I had a pasta dish that while the serving was not large it was tasty and filling. Everyone enjoyed their meal and we would return.

Superba "Candy Bar", baguettes, coffee

By cucinista24 |

This is in my neighborhood. I've eaten dinner here three times and bought pastries and coffee between those times. As of now, my initial enthusiasm has sort of tapered off. For the dinner menu, prices are high and everything is a la carte, with no extras. If you want a vegetable, you have to order it separately, ristorante style. The first week that they were open we had a fantastic meal: all the staff was "on", everything served promptly at exactly the right temperature, lots of nice young attentive waiters, bread right out of the oven, perfectly cooked salmon garnished with pea shoots, half roasted chicken with a spicy sauce on the side, incredible superba "Candy Bar" dessert--basically a slice of cold chocolate mousse with a dark chocolate glaze-- all world class, that week. Next time, service more relaxed, menus practically unchanged with less successful little variations on these dishes, hot food mostly room temp, (but baguette, if lukewarm, now free.) Third time, unpleasantly aware of the contrast between high prices, mostly unchanged choices, and coffee shop/casual vibe --not so happy. Bread and desserts and fine coffee make this a great option for a midday break with a friend--no one is rushing you and service is still attentive and friendly no matter how much you order. I think this is the concept here, and I like it. I'm not enthusiastic about the style of the breakfast pastries, though I like the little cakes: croissants are not traditional, dense rather than flaky; cinnamon rolls are super sweet. Be aware that the Notsa-matzo-ball soup has pork dumplings in it, something you only know if you ask. Sandwiches (called toasts) are open face, interesting combinations of toppings, but not likely your personal favorite list. I wouldn't take a stranger to lunch here. But, all in all, a good resource for the neighborhood. I give it a 4 for the contrast between high culinary ambition and not enough change in the menu. Tip: Bring your sunglasses even if you plan on eating indoors--at this time of year, it's in your face all afternoon.

(this is actually for the Hollywood location as they don't have a listing here)

By MooshLA |

The name says it all - this place was superb. Can't say enough good about this location especially ideal for lunch. Today I had the chance to have a lunch meeting and was pleasantly surprised. Located in the backside of a courtyard located off Sunset Blvd., the setting is super inviting and welcoming. The staff (from servers to hosts to runners to bussers) are all A+++ friendly, outgoing, informed and accomodating. The food arrived quickly and was very fresh and flavorful. It's worth starting out with their bread plate and totally awesome butter. I had the Little Gem Cesar Salad with some seared tuna on the side and it was just perfect. I think this will be one of my go-to Hollywood restaurants. Well done Superba!

Great menu and nice staff

By mcfiddle |

Delicious menu-- fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes and yummy toast and jam. We had trouble deciding what to get and probably over ordered. Ended up spending $100 on breakfast for 3 without alcoholic beverages...

Re-Visited

By FrequentTraveller034 |

I did a review on this restaurant almost 2 years ago and, not very impressed at the time, decided to re-visit since it is so conveniently located to my home. Hence this updated review which reflects an entirely different and more positive experience. The venue is beautiful, light and airy, with see-through kitchen. We were warmly received by the hostess and our server was extraordinarily helpful and personable. Fortunately the Grilled Butcher Steak was no longer on the menu (the prime reason for my last less-than-stellar review). We started with their Charred Thick Cut Bread which was wonderful, even tastier than the one served at the El Segundo branch of Superba. The Avocado Toast was well received and was a nice appetizer for our group of 3. Two of us ordered the Rotisserie Mary’s Chicken and I ordered their Sunday special, Fried Chicken. We also shared an order of Brussel Sprouts. The size of the main courses was abundant, and none of us could finish everything. The Mary’s Chicken was deliciously seasoned and moist, accompanied by a nice spring lettuce salad. The Fried Chicken was very tasty, but a bit too dry and too breaded for my taste, albeit accompanied by a delicious kale salad and a huge piece of to-die-for herbed bread (more like a square piece of corn bread sans the corn). The Brussel Sprouts were very popular and we finished every succulent morsel (and I hated them when I was a kid!). We shared a dessert, the Apple Pie a la Mode (I don't remember how it was named on the little dessert menu). It was excellent, and although a personal taste only, I would have preferred apples that were cooked a bit more. We’ll be back soon, with the intent to try the Cioppino (with lobster) that we were eyeing at the next table.

Worth it

I had just gotten into LA the night before. Wanted a quick, quality spot. Went on Tuesday at 10:30am. Conclusion: Food was great. Simple healthy with quality ingredients. Didn't try any of the "bread." But surprising good. Environment was great!

Relaxed Atmosphere, Great Coffee, Food,& Pastries

By sbk_globaltraveler |

Superb Food + Bread serves great coffee, light dishes, and pastries in a laid back and contemporary atmosphere. The restaurant has a large open layout, with cafe style seating in one area and the regular restaurant seating with an open patio. Coffee is delicious and the food is well presented. The avocado toast is great for breakfast/brunch. The cookies, apple pie, and bread are outstanding and are alone worth a visit to this restaurant. Classic cookies have a unique spin like a peanut butter cookie thats full of peanuts inside or chocolate chip cookie that just has a touch of sea salt. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Parking is relatively easy with a lot in front and ample street parking around.

Yummy !

By Smiley083061 |

Service was super , the atmosphere was relaxing on the outdoor Paton and the burger with fries was one of the best I have had in some time! Yum!

Wow!

By Discover638228 |

Wonderful waiters, chilled atmosphere, and the food...it was even more glam than it sounded! On tge recommendation if the waiter, I had the breakfat samdwich and my goodness I have never had a breakfast so yum. The parmesan potatoes were divine! Highly recommended!

Excellent breakfasts

By galden724 |

Their hangtown fry is a rather special breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, onions. Substantial and very tasty. The rather quirky fried oyster on top is easily discarded if that's not your thing. Service is very good as is the coffee. The only minor downside was being within earshot of a few self opinionated fellow diners spouting business management clichés straight out of a self help book. But hey, you can get that anywhere. Oh, and they have a great bakery as well.

Superb Superba

By briankulaf |

Between Venice & El Segundo, I prefer El Segundo. Not for so much that the food is slightly better, but for the service. Hostess Bridget, Asst. Manager Du'a, and server Riley make for a fun dining experience. Don't leave without grabbing a few Oreos and chewy peanut butter cookies with rice crispies!

Great place in venice

By lovetobeinparis |

We are always on the hunt to discover and try new bakery and brunch places and were excited to try the new Superba Food + Bread. The space was very airy and well designed. It looked like it belonged in the Mission area of San Francisco. We were very happy with our food and the service was very good and attentive. We had the following: My Mocha at $6 was barely warm and I had to ask them to redo it. The second one was a perfect Mocha. A great balance of espresso and chocolate. Pastrami and Scrambled eggs on Pain au Levain This was the special for Memorial Day weekend and we were surprised how good it was. The Pastrami was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the pickled onion added a little sweetness to the dish. The pain au levain was great and crusty. They should put this dish on their menu. Breakfast Sandwich Slow Cooked Egg, Linguica, Braised Kale, Pain au Lait My husband picked this one and it was a pretty good breakfast sandwich. The egg was poached perfectly, the Linguica had a great kick and flavor and the braised Kale tamed the dish. The Pain au Lait was nice and light and perfect for this dish. Testa Croissant Their has been a lot of press about this croissant and rightfully so. Testa, is basically meat from the pig’s head marinated and slow cocked for 16 hours and sliced. My husband really loved this. Superba Candy Bar Marcona Almond, Chocolate, Sea Salt This was really delicious. It was a great combination of a Brownie, Chocolate Mousse and Marcona Almonds. 100% Rye Bread This bread was amazing and reminded me of the one I bought from the Breads Bakery in NYC. It was $10 but must have weighted at least 2 pounds. Their version of Pain au Chocolat This was surprisingly very good. It was like a Croissant Bruschetta topped with delicious dark chocolate. Very addicting and a must try. Chocolate Walnut Cookie This was a good cookie, but nothing special. You can see the pictures at: travel4foodnart

Best Brunch

Love the setting, the service, and the food. Healthy and varied. Had Gibraltar coffee and kale toast.

Very good for wine and sharing food

By RandiLynn9 |

We had the brussel sprouts, bread with delicious butter and the prosciutto toast. Everything was so tasty. It is a little spendy, but the portions were nice size for sharing. I will most definitely go again on another visit to LA. Service was fantastic as well.

Very good for breakfast

By matias g |

Good quality products and great coffee. Also the attention is very good. Try the avocado toast. Definitely a must visit.

Perfect for open air brunching

By Shannon G |

Try a few different toasts for the table to start, split a few pastries, then enjoy from a great selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Coffee was smooth and the dishes were unique, tasteful, and filling. Great for a group!

Fashionably Average food

By Jean B |

I went to Superba new location (Lincoln Blvd) with my family. I used to go to their original location on Rose and I loved the place and more than anything the SMOKED BUCATINI CARBONARA, which was absolutely fantastic, handmade pasta, pancetta, egg yoke,...), a classic carbonera but 20 times better. I did not go back for 2 years but went last week and the carbonara was off (under cooked pasta, 2 microscopic pieces of pancetta, tons of black pepper (it is on the menu description to be fair), all those made the dish very hard to eat. Service was good and efficient, staff friendly, so all good on the front of the house. Lighting was poor and make you double check who is seating at your table..... The menu is very small and made it hard to choose a dish, some of our friends did not come due to the lack of choice. The bread was hard and was swimming in butter or olive oil, our hands were full of it after each bite.. I was really disappointed as it seems that it became another "fashionable restaurant" in the neighborhood where food looked pretty but is not up to the standards they created years ago.Prices are in the upper mid range.

Stellar

By LMaixner |

Everything we had was amazing... Bite after bite. The bread and butter reminded me so much of my great grandmothers. Parking lot available and a sizable interior/exterior space with comfortable decor. A pleasure!

Nice dinner with my daughter - lively atmosphere - kinda loud

By gosaka |

Dined here with my adult daughter. Great menu and service. We even managed to park in their lot on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was lively and a little too loud for my taste - but then I’m an old “Dad”. For the two of us, sharing an assortment of plates was a perfect way for us to get some variety.

What's not to LOVE?

By jb321gone |

It is a converted space on a busy boulevard and full of young hip good-looking Angelinos, and despite all of these negatives, the food, staff and experience were exceptional! Their small menu offers something for everyone from vegans to meat eaters and everything we had was divine. I wasn’t starving, but I did make excuses to try some more and ended up bringing home leftovers that were almost as good the next day. I am now looking for an excuse to go back. Anybody hungry?

Fresh food, fresh air, amazing breads

Indoor outdoor venue made for perfect dining in this Venice location. The food is incredibly fresh and the breads alone are worth the trip. Good service, a wonderful pastry counter and great breakfast menu u make it a perfect place for casual brunch, or coffee.

Amazing food, AMAZING bread

By austinmook |

We just visited Superba Food + Bread in December and had an amazing experience. I can't remember what my wife ate, so I'll just mention my food. I started with the maple custard toast with bacon confit and crispy sage. Holy Moses, this was good. The toast is made in house and was perfect. The maple custard was creamy and was just the right concentration of maple. The bacon confit was spectacular. For the entree, I had the Moroccan eggs, which were such a wonderful treat. They also came with their pain au levain, which was so good, that even though all of us got bread with our meals, we ordered two additional baguettes. Sheesh. It's not all that close to anything but my cousin's office, but we'll make the drive back out there in a heartbeat.

A Little Pretentious…

By FrequentTraveller034 |

I found the place a little pretentious and pricey for this area of Lincoln Boulevard in Venice. Nevertheless, I wanted to try it since the space looked airy and inviting (it is!). We arrived and got the unexpected “do you have a reservation” with a gazillion empty tables in evidence. Oh well, I guess it’s their policy to ask. We wanted to try their wines, but the single glasses of red were very limited and very expensive (we wanted a red and the only choice seemed to be for the domestic Doyenne Aix at $15 (a reasonable mark-up price for this Syrah, but they need at least a few less expensive reds by the glass). The Doyenne Aix turned out to be excellent, although we noticed considerably larger pours of single glasses at many other tables. I was surprised at the lack of consistency. So on to the menu where we wanted a substantial meal and not the predominant small plates. We both selected the Grilled Butcher Steak with “schmaltzy potatoes/watercress/chimichurri”. I advised the server that I did not like watercress and could I have a substitution. The sort of uncomfortable dialogue with the waiter made this seem like a really big deal for the kitchen, but he checked with the chef and finally said they could do it. So I had a carrot salad instead of watercress (very good), schmaltzy potatoes (whatever that means, but they were sort of like home fries and very tasty) and the Butcher Steak. Here’s where I had to lower my overall rating to a 3 – the steak was nicely presented and cooked exactly as ordered; however, it was one of the toughest steaks I’ve had in a long time. On the plus side, the chimichurri sauce helped a bit, but I could not get over how tough the beef was. I noticed the wonderful crusty loaves of bread in the see-through kitchen, and I was hoping for a slice. Various servers occasionally passed by with plates of the thick cut slices but, alas, none for us. I am not sure what one has to order in order to get a few slices of bread. I could find no reference to slices of bread on the menu. Maybe I’ll just stop by sometime and buy a loaf so I can finally try it.

Delicious food, wonderful ambiance

By Joe Whitmore |

It’s very “Venice,” but in a good way — a relaxed, Venice vibe, chic and chilled ambiance, and delicious food make this a great any-time-of-day restaurant. Breakfast has big ceramic cloud cups of strong coffee and tasty egg dishes and pastries, while evening brings nice wine, friendly waiters, and lights-turned-low charm to buttery pasta dishes, generous burgers, and a fantastic chicken meatball polenta dish. Buy pastries for breakfast before you leave.

great cafe

We had dinner one mid week night, lunch, and plenty of coffees in between over our month in LA in August/Sept. It was all great. Pastries were just the best as was the coffee

Every Taste is New and Amazing

By eboosler |

We stumbled upon Superba down in El Segundo, CA Saturday night. It was so good, we took our friends to breakfast/lunch at the Superba located in Santa Monica/Venice the very next morning. Again, we were blown away. The restaurants are gorgeous, the staff is incredible; friendly, kind, extremely attentive and efficient, and the food is fantastic. Going vegetarian (my husband eats meat) means I don't often find many new flavors, but everything here is made differently than anywhere else. The tempura cauliflower came with tempura peppers and other vegetables, plus tempura capers! and a delicious dip. The beets and burrata appetizer also had a variety of gorgeous vegetables and the flavors were fantastic. These were not entrees yet each could have served as one, they were very generous plates. The next morning I had the most delicious gravlax on incredible bread, it melted in your mouth. Our party also shared "cheesy egg toast", enough to act as a side dish or appetizer for four. The others had the French toast, so delicious it could have been dessert, and again, not like anything you've ever had before. They had bacon too, which they loved. I swear it was the best black iced coffee I have ever had, and my husband tried the "Turmeric coffee". Amazing! Made with turmeric root, honey, cinnamon and almond milk (no coffee) it was incredibly delicious and different, and so healthy for you. The Superba in Santa Monica doesn't have a liquor license yet, but the one in El Segundo had a wonderful bar, and we got to eat while watching the Yankees lose to the Astros. It's an elegant place, so no sound on the tv at the bar, but closed captioning. The Venice branch has lots of outdoor seating, and a beautiful, airy and sunny indoor restaurant. Can't wait to go back.

Gorgeous food and friendly service

By Laura F |

Loved it here. Friendly service. All the food we had was delicious. The breakfast burrito is amazing. Highly recommend

This place does NOT have it together

By Elizabethrap |

Oh boy you know you are in trouble when the waiter starts out "we have been really busy today". News flash... That is suppose to be a good thing. Bar service is limited and took a very long time to get our bottle of wine or water. They were out of several things on the menu but instead of being forwarned we were contestants on "sorry we are out of that" Listen, I worked as a server for many years... It is not that hard. Please do us all a favor and put into place a system that allows a food runner to know who ordered what. Nothing worse than someone holding plates of food asking like it is a pop quiz who ordered what.

Good brunch spot

By mrh16 |

Innovative burrito made for an interesting breakfast. Nice atmosphere with friendly service. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food.

One of my Favorites in the Neighborhood

By klindsied |

This place has fantastic desserts, food, and wine. It is such a cozy atmosphere where you feel like you could break bread with friends or go on a romantic date. They have a fantastic, and reasonably priced wine list, and their food has never been disappointing.

Great Lunch Spot in Venice

By geckobvi |

We went there on a recommendation of my son… another excellent suggestion. It sits on Lincoln not too far from Venice Blvd, so it’s easy to get to from Venice or Santa Monica. Let me say the food and service were excellent. It is very busy for lunch but they clearly know how to handle the volume both in service and getting fresh well-prepared food to you in a timely fashion. Superba has a very good and reasonably priced wine selection. The only issue is parking, they have a few spaces in lot in front, but they are almost always filled, which means you need to drive around the neighborhood for find a spot and you won’t be the only one.

Enjoyable dinner, terrific staff

By Pendrake |

This was my first visit to Superba, and we had a quite enjoyable experience. The service was terrific and the food is top quality without being overly expensive. We sat inside, and though it was lively, we were able to carry on a comfortable conversation without having to yell at each other. There's also an outside patio that looked comfortable. There's a nice mix of vegetable and meat dishes, and everything seems carefully sourced and prepared. I'd heartily recommend this place for anyone looking for mid- and upper range dining experience in the Venice part of town.

Busy tasty morning spot

By Jane M |

Excellent coffees and cappucinos. Never stayed for full menu but it is always packed and everything going by looked amazing. Great people watching too, I could've filled a coffee book on the footwear alone.

Food + Bread...+ Cool ambiance + Great Service + Pastries...

By Kaoun |

We had our first lunch in California here on June 26th. Great for late breakfast or lunch, it's probably nice also at night. Pastries are very good, I would recommend their small vanilla beignets and the lemon pie.

Busy Sunday brunch

By rokkap |

We forgot to make a reservation, as the Sunday brunch proved very popular. However, we were seated right away. The brunch menu was extensive. My Avocado on toast proved average; the avocado was delicious, but the thick toast proved difficult to master. The ambiance was very busy, with plenty of families with kids. The patio was quieter, but not sufficiently extensive. A significant difference between Sundays and weekdays, I was told.

Excellent breads and coffee, and more!

By Spertronic |

The cafe is in a beautiful space with and open and airy feel, lots of natural light, a place you could relax before the hustle a bustle of the crowds arrive. The food is excellent, we ordered a variety of items, from egg dishes to pastries, smoked lox to thick cut bacon. All were great, solid items and weren't over done or made to cute. The coffee drinks were also really good. I think if your in the area you would be remiss to not eat here. We came twice while in Venice and enjoyed our early morning visit the most.

Fun, delicious, brunch with friends, a go-to place if I lived closer

By jasoncrh |

I was here this Sunday for brunch with friends. Overall, I really liked this place and would definitely return/ recommend if in the Venice area. We arrived just prior to 11 and put our names in for a party of 3. What was supposed to be a 30 minute wait was barely 10, and even though our third wasnt there yet they let us take the table. The place is nice and breezy, open air, and has a fun, very LA vibe. It was comfortable. I was a bit surprised that the heat lamps were turned on on the outdoor-ish terrace as it definitely was not cold, but whatever. While we waited, my one friend and I ordered coffees. A latte and orange juice for me, a tumeric latte (a special) for my friend. I normally never order orange juice unless I know it's going to be fresh squeezed, and this one was and it was delicious. The coffees took a little while as there was a backup, but they were both delicious. The server was friendly. All the food looked good on the menu and it looked good all around us. My friend who eventually arrived had yogurt, fruit, bacon and granola that all looked delicious. My other friend and I split the avocado toast, fried chicken sandwich, and a huge pancake. Everything was delicious - the fried chicken sandwich especially, and especially sharable. I liked the easy going vibe of this place, the varied menu, and the quality of the food and service. I'd definitely return, and this would be a go-to place if I lived nearby.

Weekend al fresco brunch

By Michael P |

Cozy outdoor seating under shade trees. We had a late Saturday breakfast. Creative and delicious food - kale, avocado and egg toast; keto plate; french toast. Friendly, attentive service.

Okay, but no final prices, tax, service and tip at least 18% are added

By Bernd F |

The food was OK, but there were no side dishes. The fries were too spicy and therefore inedible for the child. The bread was tasty, but too rich to finish off a main course. The atmosphere in the garden is great.

Coffee good & the pastries looked Devine

By Papa G |

I stumbled upon this place after mass this morning and boy do they make a nice cuppa coffee. The nutella croissant looked insane as did all the other pastries in their display case. This breakfast spot is obviously the go to spot for locals who do not want to trek anywhere near the boardwalk for their morning meal.

Very Enjoyable

By Jon Y |

Service was great, great coffee and very tasty breakfast with the most flavorsome bacon I have eaten in a long time. Difficult to describe the theme of this place but a fusion of styles is probably best. Very busy at weekends. Like many of the restaurants in Venice it is very eclectic and has a very interesting menu with something to suit all.

Perfect ambient courtyard dining

By moraia |

Perfect setting, inside and out, Spanish villa with courtyard. Wonderful service and good food, what else could you ask for? It is quite a hidden gem...

Just the right amount of adventure

By tekirova |

Venice is full trendy places that try new things, sometimes ending in absurd combinations. Superba may look that way at first glance. The atmosphere is youthful and fresh, the dishes have an edge. What makes Superba stand apart is the honesty of labor. If you are eating a deep fried Cod, the batter is perfect. The dishes are bent to surprise you, but not to the point that you cannot recognize the ingredients. Everything is cooked properly. The adventure is in the combinations on plate. Very impressive; and ridiculously delicious. Highly recommended.

Superba is superb!!!

An excellent lunch menu with a variety of salads, sandwiches and pasta. The roast beef sandwich and the pasta were both very good. As we sat there we saw other meals going by and they all looked delicious. The bread if absolutely fresh and delicious. The portions are really large (could only eat half my sandwich). They have a home cooked fried chicken plate Sunday nights - Going to go back for that. Also will try to some other dishes for lunch. Did not care for the unfriendly waiter, but the service was still good.

Fresh Ingredients

I met two friends for lunch and the food was delicious. Huge portions, friendly service, and the freshest ingredients you could ask for in a restaurant.

Really loved it!

By Vicki C |

We were there with family and we shared several dishes, all of them very good. The braised lamb was outstanding, and the mussels and scallops were also very good per the others, I don't like them. Our server was very helpful with the menu, and we loved the ambience, sat outside with the patio heaters and we were comfortable.

A little attitudey at the door, but totally worth it.

Super delicious food. Some of the most delicious pastries I've had in a long time. Nothing too fancy, just really good and made with quality ingredients. The Kouign Amann was drop dead fabulous. We came back three days in a row, just so we could eat it.

Popular place

By spygluze |

I loved this place last time I visited LA, so decided to try again. It was even more popular, we had to wait in the queue. Luckily, you can order coffee while you're waiting. The food and service didn't disappoint. Will likely to be back when in LA again.

good

Great service. Had a lovely server at the bar who was so sweet and attentive and made great conversation. Was there with my sister and she helped recommend food and drinks and we loved it! Especially the pastas! If you are ever at Superba Venice, look for Ava!

Always a good place for a casual meal

By jacquelinerose5 |

The food here is very good and I really like the casual atmosphere. Although I have never seen them actually making bread, the bakery is right there behind glass for all to see. The pastries look delicious. We go here often with a 2-year old and I usually see multi-generational groups. The service is excellent.

Love love love this place!

My daughter and family moved back up north after living in LA for last 15 years. Our last restaurant meal was at Superba and we couldn't have been happier. We'd eaten here a few times before ( they many times) and drawing card is the outside seating for the dog and the two year old. However this time the menu had changed and it was out of this world good. Our waiter, Shane, suggested a few of the appetizers which were unbelievably good, the Trio Crudo (sashimi served with different accompniaments) the octopus salad, artichoke with some kind of cheese dumpling, and mussels. Our shared entrees were the steak, grilled to perfection and the heirloom and burrata salad. We also shared the peach crumble desert, yummmmmm. We walked away pleasantly full and raving about the different tastes we'd experienced. Kudos to the chef.

Superba is you guessed it... superb!!

Turned on to Superba by an always-in-the-know Angeleno, and loved it. Enjoyed an excellent breakfast here (the cheesy eggs) and was amazed by the huge variety of awesome breads. A must-stop.

Great Brunch Spot

Easy parking at this great restaurant for brunch. Good eggs and waffles. Expresso coffee was pretty good .

Best Biscuit I Ever Had!

By nikstr |

We had dinner here last Sunday night with the kids after meeting friends at the beach. We were seated immediately and treated well. The space is open and light and airy. We ordered the greens and beans, which came with a giant slice of grilled bread; the Sunday special fried chicken with collard slaw and biscuit; the yellowtail crudo appetizer; and the angel hair pasta. And a side of grilled bread with some buttery deliciousness on it that we all went crazy for. Everything was fantastic and healthy and perfectly cooked. The biscuit that came with the fried chicken was the best I've ever had, and I've had millions as well as make my own. I wish we had a restaurant like Superba Food and Bread in our neighborhood in Los Feliz.

Ordered the vegetarian burrito, a refreshing cocktail and a coffee to finish off. The tortilla was amazing. Too good to be bought. Great vibe. We’ll worth a visit

Perfect place for an easy brunch

By MonkeyMoon |

My husband and I were spending a couple weeks in LA and decided to try this place. We loved it so much the first time, we decided to go back. It's a beautiful, open-air space with great food and newspapers to read over your morning coffee. The whole experience is just easy -- parking out front, nice staff, short wait times (at least the two times we were there -- both times on a weekend around 10am).

What a disappointment...

By ConnieLongBeach |

We had dinner here with friends after being recommended by other friends so we were looking forward to a delicious meal. It was not good. The fried chicken was tough and hard and dry, cole slaw inedible so we left it. My husband thought the cheese bun was ok. The lamb ribs were skimpy and overcooked. Fries were ok for some poor for others. The only reason I gave it a 2 instead of a 1 was because after they ruined one persons burger by leaving it to get cold and dry they replaced it and didn't charge us. There are many better restaurants in the area.

Local favorite!

Such a fun, laid back vibe with delicious seasonal foods! Especially love sitting outside with a glass of wine and blanket!

Best breakfast in Venice Beach!

By Anniken J |

Superba served up a wonderful breakfast with fresh ingredients, unusual food combos and great juices. The cafe has a huge selection of amazing bread, cakes and other bakery Products. The service was a bit slow, but the food held such a high quality, and tasted so good that noone cared. We had some amazing pancakes, the best gravad lax outside Scandinavia and a wonderful selection of coffe, juice, eggs and avocado toast. If I lived in Venice, this place would be my regular weekend hangout.

Simply Superb(a)!

By travelfiend60 |

In a city full of great restaurants, this is quite possibly my favorite place to eat. I've eaten at Superba Food + Bread for breakfast and dinner over half a dozen times now and I am consistently impressed how they just manage to do everything better than other similar restaurants. On the surface it looks like another semi-expensive, hipster spot serving popular dishes containing toast, kale, and brussel sprouts, but somehow Superba always manages to rise above what's now become standard fare and offer a consistently enjoyable experience. The management must be great because the waitstaff seems genuinely engaged and friendly (even if you're no longer young or thin), the atmosphere is fun and energetic without being overbearingly loud, the food is always prepared with care and spiced in an interesting way, and the portions are generous. Plus- you can bring your dog! Besides what's on the menu, the pastries and whole loaves of bread to take home are some of the best in town. I seriously don't know how they manage to make everything always good all the time but they do. The only downside is that parking can be a bit of a pain.

Good, but . . .

By rosenb37 |

Gosh, was my bill THAT much? I don't need to drink swill, but I don't need to spend $4 on coffee either. And I understand brunch ends in 30 minutes, but do you have to be out of the two things I inquire about? Otherwise, the service was good, and what I did end up eating certainly was made with love.

I've had better breakfast at a McDonald's.

Last weekend I tried Superba, and it was a joke; $18 for a single pancake. It was worth maybe $10, but definitely not $18. $7 for two eggs. They were very average eggs, at best. FFS, I could buy a dozen organic eggs for that much. $8 for a turkey sausage. Smaller in diameter than the average coaster, and not much thicker. Honestly, I'm not sure that a cardboard coaster wouldn't have tasted any worse. No seasoning, just ground turkey. By far & away the worst sausage I've ever had. And to top it off, there was 3% "Happy & Healthy" surcharge! The only people who were happy were the owners, for price gouging their customers.

Second visit reconfirms the excellence

By sabasavta123 |

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The first time, November 2018, we went for lunch and this most recent visit was for dinner. The decor has an open feel, the service is good and the food delicious. The wall of breads is eye candy and appetite inducing. There is an unpretentious feel which makes the restaurant appropriate for lunch and dinner. Superba is superb!

Good food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices

By Janet R |

I had brunch here with friends in the week. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. Very good service and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Excellent food, nice setting

By ECrowther |

Superba Food + Bread has a large airy dining room and outdoor patio, bakes bread and pastries, and serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. We ate dinner, ordering the pork shoulder, grass-fed beef burger and scallops (a small dish). The pork shoulder was tender, juicy and flavorful - truly incredible. The burger was delicious, made with Superba's "secret sauce" and cooked perfectly. The scallops were perfectly cooked and a tasty dish. We did not have room for dessert, but we took home slices of their Valhrona chocolate cake, and it was fanstastic! Prices are a bit steep, with entrees mostly in the $25 range.

Not Ba at all.

Disclaimer: Part of me almost wanted to hate this place so I could title my review "Who Dropped the D? (SuperBad)". But it was damn good... So... Here is my positive review. One of the best Mojitos I have ever had. Excellent. The fries are good and the Fried Chicken sandwich was pretty good. Would I say it's the best I have ever had? Not quiet, little over breaded for my taste. But one of the best, certainly. Terrific service, Fair pricing-- I'll be back to try more.

Please open one in Orlando, Fl

Well if they did I would have to say I would be a regular. great coffee and awesome atmosphere for light bites and to die for individual desserts... was that really gold leaf on the chocolate! Great open atmosphere and helpful staff. Great breads to take away.

Amazing breakfast

I can not say enough good things about the breakfast at Superba. The avocado toast with an egg is as good as it gets and the coffee is brilliant. Don’t miss this one.
