Lovely experience!

By Erica I |

My husband and I are big fan's of Lisa Vanderpump and her show's, so we made it a point to visit Sur during our visit to LA. Sometimes when it comes to resto's that are featured on tv, the hype is worth more than the experience itself, however this wasn't the case for Sur. The ambience, food and drinks were FANTASTIC. I think it has to be one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been to. The food was also very delicious as well are our drinks that we had ordered. Our waiter was extremely friendly. Once we closed off our tab, we went to finish off our drinks by the bar in the lounge area. The music that was playing was really good as well (no DJ so I believe it was a sound track). We were very pleased with our experience and would definitely return in the future.

WAITER LOST MY CARD

By J M |

WAITER LOST MY CARD My friend and I had a couple cocktails AND THE WAITER NEVER RETURNED MY CARD. I spoke to the manager Peter, who was unable to retrieve my card and unable to revive security footage from his manger, Natalie who would be unavailable for a further 3 days. The service and management is a diabolical.

Great dinner

By John S |

Went here for dinner while in LA on business. My coworker watched a reality tv show that was filmed here and really wanted to go. Ambiance was interesting. Very dark and the tables were really close together. Service was really good though. We had an amazing bottle of wine which was really affordable. Goat cheese appetizer was good. I had the risotto which was also good. I would go back here again if in the area.

Needs an upgrade

By GrandTour827888 |

Not what I was expecting. Everything seem a little outdated and food wasn't that great, masked with a so so waitress staff..I dont know I guess I expected more. It was like going to a low grade Keg

Nice cocktails, ok food

By Nelson P |

The drinks were good and unique. The service was very friendly. Atmosphere was ok but the food wasn’t the best. We had the “famous” goat cheese balls and you could tell they were frozen as the middles were cold. I had the chicken pasta and I don’t know how to describe the chicken other than it reminded me of cat food. Little chunks like it came from a precooked package. The staff was attentive which was nice and they got everything right.

Restaurant : yes. Sexy and Urban : no

By Katja L |

So I went to have lunch at SUR. which stands for sexy urban restaurant. Maybe I was bias as I had watched vanderpump rules and expected something amazing lookwise. And service wise. I get there and since I am alone I joke that I don’t want the table next to the kitchen. Guess what? Practically empty restaurant and the hostess tells me in a serious manner it’s the only available ? I decline and another table in the middle of the room becomes my table. Note that there were side tables available. Setting aside it was smaller than on tv which is Normal given shootings are wide angle. I ask for a tuna tartare. Out comes - in 4 seconds which means they are not prepared on the spot, something that resembles tuna and that contains - not advertised - mais. (Or I missed that on the ingredient list. I order of glass of white wine which has the temperature of red wine. But it was nice so I asked for a second glass. Yet my first was still standing empty on the table ...it was not more nor less pricy than anything in the area but the food was second to many a place, the ambiance ran down and there is - in my opinion- nothing sexy or urban about It. Or is Saturday a bad lunch day and date with SUR? What I personally think is that if a tv program is to advertise the Reatuarants of the owner , fair enough , people do get into the door (several people also just came in to look around during my dining experience ) and definitely will be served decently and eat decently - but it does not create returning customers - for that quality attention and not the feeling of eating preprepared items that were ready in the fridge - waitress was polite and if I were a guy I would probably deem the way she was dressed sexy. I also ate at PUMP. That was good nice and had a vibe to it. Just walk up to the corner with Santa Monica - in my opinion a More urban and more sexy experience.

A reality fans shrine

By Anthony A |

We had to check out Lisa Vanderpumps (from reality show fame) restaurant, in West Hollywood. We must of turned up on the right night. Without even booking a table and purely walking in, we were given a table by Manager Peter, as our server James Kennedys girlfriend Raquel, showed us to the table. We were already excited, as we are fans of the show and have seen so much of these people, we felt like we knew them. Then when we turned, we were sat right next to Lisa Vanderpump and Ken who were dining with two other friends. The pure excitement and hype in the very small, but cosy room is palatable. She definitely exudes class and confidence and handles the attention amazingly. The hype also makes for a great vibe in the room, as you dine. We started wth espresso martinis, which were OK. One thing we found in the USA was they don't really do them that well, we tried several places they are not terrible, they just are not as good as we have had around the world. Their wine list is extensive and had some great options, which we settled on a lovely bottle. The food was actually very good, I had a delicious Angel Hair Checca with fresh basil, garlic, sautéed Roma tomatoes, olive oil. I really enjoyed it. My husband had the steak and said was very good also. We tried some of the side dishes too which were well made and fresh. This place turned out to be surprisingly good. All the hype and expectations on the place actually turned out better than we thought.

We walked out

By Alico R |

My best friend and I went for dinner , we walk out if the restaurant when we tried the steak undercooked and cold ! 10 minutes until someone welcome us and ask us for our drink choices ! I think waitress think they are famous or something and they feel entitled to act they way they want z Thursday 9 pm EMPTY ! Quite shocking ! Management has poor skills I have gone there many times but not more . Steak was cold , mushy calamari and goat cheese are worse than Trader Joe’s . They aren’t spending money in what matters ( trained staff and quality food ) they have a small kitchen Sur isn’t making money at all , the competition is brutal . This place used to be Amazing! Their greed is gonna take it out of business ! 11 for a beer , 7$ for a ice tea ! 😱😱😱

FANTASTIC RESTAURANT/BAR – WE MET SOME OF THE CAST FROM THE SHOW!

By JourneyWithUss |

I have to admit, I'm a huge fan of Vanderpump Rules/Real Housewives of Beverly Hills so going to Lisa Vanderpump's restaurant was a MUST on our trip to Hollywood. My husband was reluctant to go, saying it was just a fad and a way of her being able to make money off of people who followed her, but he was so wrong (and afterwards he admitted this!) When we got there, the food was amazing and the drinks were strong and tasty. We had previously read mixed reviews about the service online but we thought it was amazing and the waiters were really accommodating (our original reservation was booked for 9pm but we didn't end up arriving until 10:30pm and they happily moved it for us with a simple phone call, given it was a Saturday night we thought this was pretty impressive). They were filming in the bar area whilst we was there so we managed to meet a few of the cast from the show which is always a bonus. They were happy to take photos and chat for a while. We decided to enjoy drinks in the bar after our meal and the cocktails were divine (a little expensive but it's to be expected when dining in a beautiful restaurant). The décor was exactly how you see it on the show, absolutely superb! Overall we were not disappointed and already thinking about heading back on our next visit to Hollywood :-) Instagram: @journeywithuss

Service food mediocre(being nice) Sat down and we finished our dinner,3 courses in 40 mins. Food mediocre

By Carolyn P |

Appetizers out less than 2 minutes from us ordering, salad over dressed, my husbands Chicken Milanese looked like a reheat and tasted to chewy. wait staff bump into our table at least 6 times, told wait staff our dish mediocre, response ok. WE HAD 3 COURSES AND DONE IN 40 MINUTES. If you have to go, go for a drink,Great Decor. SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT FOR DINNER

Superb

We ate here on our last night in L.A, The food was stunning, great service and great drink selection. A perfect ending to a great vacation!

Didn't live up to the hype

By Derek C |

Went on a Tuesday night for happy hour. The bar top and patio are the only seating for the happy hour. Our server Danny told us that once we were seated. She was fantastic! Once we got to the happy hour seating, that is where the service went downhill. The server was less and less attentive as the night went on, even though there were fewer people. The goat cheese balls and calamari were good.

Underwhelming

By Williams123 |

I am a big fan of the housewives and promised to visit one of Lisa’s restaurants. I loved the ambiance but it was difficult to have a conversation with my friends because the music was too loud. It isn’t ideal for dinner. Nevertheless, the staff was friendly but oddly enough our initial waiter got reassigned to another table for whatever reason. The bathrooms were not cleaned either. It was an underwhelming experience

Great restaurant

By MarkChin62 |

Went to Sur restaurant because my wife watched housewives of Beverly hills and vanderpump rules, The restaurant was as it was on tv, beautiful restaurant the food was lovely best meal we have had in LA, my wife was so happy because our server was Max who was very good at his job made you feel welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone the food and service was excellent.

Great atmosphere, bland food

By Banjaroo |

I have never seen Vanderpump Rules but I visited Sur with friends who love the show. I must say the outdoor dining area is beautiful and our server was knowledgeable but the rest of our experience left a lot to be desired. We all ordered pastas and our food was surprisingly bland. The only thing we really enjoyed was a salad appetizer but that's definitely not enough to win our support. With so many restaurants in West Hollywood, I wish we would have picked somewhere else to go. The prices were average for satisfying food but outrageous for the disappointing food we received. Thankfully the show gets fans to visit the restaurant, otherwise I truly believe they would struggle for business. All this being said, please remember that if you sit outside, you are subjected to nature. A group at a table next to us complained several times about bugs and spiders however they did choose to sit outside. Don't be those people.

Must see if you are a Vanderpump fan!

By Jennifer H |

We went for dinner at SUR as I am a huuuge Vanderpump fan! It was so surreal being in there and seeing everything from the show, we even saw Peter! I loved it! The food was really good, but we did feel it was over priced for what it was, when we compare with other meals we have had on our trip. The building is also a little tired, particularly the toilets. So, if you are a Vanderpump fan then this is a must see! If you aren’t and are just looking for a nice meal in LA, then there are much nicer places for the money.

Not all that glitters is gold...

By Punk R |

What can I say... firstly, there’s 2 parts to the restaurant - the front nice part and the overcrowded “tourist” part where they seem to throw the daggy dressers, the older people, the ones not deemed fit for the camera. If you’re older, or don’t look like a model or mutton dressed as lamb you’ll be put in the back part. They only like what the door staff deem to be “good looking” people at the front bar and on the outside terrace. I generally don’t dress up to go however have been to some of the world’s best restaurants in jeans and never been treated as poorly as I was at Sur. It felt like it was a massive inconvenience for us to be there from the get go. This was in huge contrast to my visit the same day to the Ivy where they treat you like royalty no matter what you’re wearing. Strike one. If you’re unlucky enough to be put in the back part like we were, you will get to know your dining inmates - sorry companions - very intimately. Even talking low you can hear every conversation around you because you are literally 6 inches away from the table next to you. Our server and bus boy couldn’t even get to half the tables for how crowded it was, and my companion and I were both bumped in the back several times as they had to pass through the narrow spaces. We had the fried goats cheese balls which were tiny, cold, and served with some limp carrot & cucumber and a dot of a tasteless sauce. The dish was obviously prepared before we had even entered. Not exactly worth $11. The entree salad was ok but wasn’t dressed at all so it was a bit like eating it straight from the container it came from. Last up was the salmon. It was overcooked so very dry, and came served with some bland Brussels sprouts and under cooked “roasted” potatoes which were soggy. The caper sauce had no capers on my portion. Also had an espresso martini, aka rocket fuel, was disgusting. Pro’s: the floral arrangements. Con’s: the whole place is a con, avoid it at all costs.

Boring menu, slow service, needs to be redecorated

By elizabethlascheid |

We were so disappointed in Sur restaurant. The service was incredibly slow, servers we're chatting amongst each other while ignoring guests, the food was subpar and the entire restaurant should be redecorated. We were so looking forward to visiting Sur restaurant. What we found was sad. First of all, we waited for 10 minutes for anyone to approach us for drink order. Our drink order did come and they were satisfactory. We then waited for someone to show up and take our order. Once that was done we didn't see anyone until our order was dropped. No one bothered to check on us to see if our food was good. It was no better then something I would expect at Applebee's. Now, I like Applebee's. Their prices are reasonable and you know what you were getting, after all it is Applebee's. This is supposed to be a fine dining experience and it did not even come close. We had shrimp risotto, a lemon type chicken, steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus. It was truly the only thing on the menu that looked good. It was as stated above mediocre. The steak was overcooked and tough and the risotto was very much al dente. The mashed potatoes were fine. The restaurant itself looks outdated an unkempt. A refresh is in order along with either a new menu or a reduction in prices or any attempt to try to advertise this place as a fine dining experience. There were people there in shorts and masks are evidently optional for guests and staff. The mask belongs above your nose not below it. I have no idea whether they will change their ways because I am not going back to spend another $300 for mediocre food.

Beautiful restaurant, food and surroundings.....

Plenty of food and drink choices, healthy options too. Servers were extremely friendly and were happy to take photos of us as it was our first visit to LA. Highly recommended.

Pride weekend and Vanderpump tour

By Tim G |

We dined here the weekend of Pride, and to take in the full Vanderpump Rules experience. The bartenders were super snotty and we just loved it. The hostess scowled as she seated us; perfect. The server, at first, appeared completely disinterested but then warmed up a little. The meal was wonderful. I had the scallops and my spouse had the pasta. The best and lightest angel hair pasta we have ever had. The chocolate cake was fantastic.

Nice brunch...will return.

By Angela Holtz |

Ok, to be fair. I do not watch the reality show that is associated with this restaurant. So this review is purely based on the service, food and atmosphere. My son and I were visiting LA for the weekend. We were recommended by a friend to go to SUR for brunch. We made reservations via OpenTable. Easy to do. Once we arrived, we were immediately seated. Our table was next to the door, by the restroom. I didn’t really care for that much. But it wasn’t horrible, but still. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Very pretty place with very pretty people! Our food was delicious. We both ordered the veggie omelette and one bread basket. And yes, the Perfect Margarita lives up to the name! So good!! Our service was good. It was a busy Sunday, so we expected a little wait for our check. But it wasn’t long. We enjoyed ourselves and the conversation. I’m not sure who Lisa Vanderpump is, but she and her husband can run one heck of a restaurant. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 “owls”...was the position of our table. To see one person after another ask where the restroom was was a little off putting to us. Otherwise, great experience!

Dinner for (2)

By John1981mc |

My wife was wanting to go to sur so we went after a James cordon show. With all the tables set out nicely it looked fabulous. When I went to pick up my knife there was dried food scraps on knife. I’m sure when someone sets it up they would of seen it as it was folded into the napkin on table That is only down side of visit, the food was fantastic

Great night at SUR

By Abbyski1970 |

So ... obviously booked as I’m a fan of the show and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. We turned up and noticed they were filming! Our waitress Morgan was so helpful and obliging. I noticed a few of the cast were there and asked is she could help out with photos! Then Peter came over!! Lovely guy ... had photos and a chat then got photos with Brittainy and Raquel! Plus Guillermo. Ordered drinks ... tried the Vanderpump Rose. Very nice. Ordered chicken with fries then chocolate cake for dessert. Food came out fast and it was truly amazing. Chicken was so moist and fresh and tasty! Then dessert! Omg. Wasn’t heavy.. was light and very nice. I probably didn’t expect the night to be as good as what it was but highly recommend! Staff and overall experience was great and more than I expected

Disappointing experience

By SajChowdhury1968 |

o be honest, we were quite disappointed with the whole experience. The atmosphere was quite dead, the menu was restricted, the food portions were quite small and they wanted a minimum of 20% tip. It felt like it was all about the money. They also ignored my request to make the evening a little joyous as it was my husband’s 60th birthday celebration. Luckily, this is just the beginning of my husband’s birthday celebrations as off to Las Vegas, San Francisco and Palm Springs.

Lovely meal and great service

By Ayns |

As a big fan on Vanderpump Rules we received a voucher before coming here. The food was delicious and the service was great, nothing was ever to much. The food was delicious and the portions were a perfect size. Amazing meal and lovely atmosphere.

Interesting

By world_travellers15 |

We went in a Saturday and hoped for the place to be more alive but it wasn’t. Pretty but lacked vitality. I preferred Pump just a few blocks down the toad. The food and ambiance were perfect! Reserve a table.

Sexy dinner

By Eric D |

According to Lisa Vanderpump, all goods are sexy ;-) Well, she succeeded with this restaurant. A few days earlier, we tried Villa Blanca (also hers), which is less trendy. Sur is a lot hotter. Sexy waitresses (out of work actresses?), but unfortunately (according to my fiancee), the waiters are a lot less attractive looking. Service was quick, maybe too quick and pushy, but friendly. The dishes varied in quality. None of our starters were outstanding, but the main courses were excellent. Afterwards were tried to go to the lounge area, which also has its own entrance. We asked for a table, but we were notified it was "first come, first serve". Fine. So I told her my name to put on the list....how else do they know who came first, so who to serve first? But no, in fact it's "figure it out yourselves". So we left....to Tom Tom (see review).

Not Just a Show

By Clay G |

As a fan of Vanderpump Rules, I convinced my girlfriend to stop by Sur when I was in LA, and it did not disappoint. While there was none of the famous drama, the fantastic food and service more than made up for it. My friends all recommended the fried goat cheese balls, and they were a fantastic starter. The chutney provided a little flavor punch. We tried four different cocktails and enjoyed them all. You really can’t go wrong with any of them. Honestly, the best part of the entire meal was the dessert. The blackberry crisp was so delicious and everybody should save some room for it. We couldn’t finish it all and took some home, which made for a great second helping the next day.

Fabulous in WeHo

By Nicole |

Everything about my experience was top notch, the food, the service and the ambiance. My daughter and I visited on our trip to LA and we were not disappointed - 10/10 would recommend.

Don't waste your time here

By Rich H |

Unfriendly, tacky and a total waste of money. The waitress was having a bad day I think, because when I didn't agree with the table she gave me she turned around and walked away. I called her back but she didn't care.

Went for Brunch on Sunday

By mlebel1 |

We are fans of Vanderpump rules so we had to make a stop on our LA weekend visit. We went for Brunch. Menu was limited, food & plate presentation was okay. Goat cheese baller good. Service was great. Beautifully decorated restaurant. Drinks were good.

Decent dinner in a nice atmosphere.

By Walters050980 |

We came in for dinner on a Saturday night with a reservation for the bar area. When we arrived there was nothing available so we were told we could stand at the bar until a seat opened up and we could grab the seat. I wasn’t too happy with that option as we stood for about 30 minutes until the people next to us finally got up. Overall the bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. The drinks were delicious and the ambiance was beautiful once the lights went down. We were very surprised at how empty the bar area was the entire night given it being a Saturday night but there is a lot of competition in the area to bring people in so that may be part of it. In regard to the food, we had the goat cheese balls, pasta, and fries. It was fine. Nothing great, but not bad either. We ate at Tom Tom, another Vanderpump restaurant, the day before and the food there was so much better and cheaper, especially the gnocchi Mac and cheese. I’m not sure I would go back for dinner, but it was a nice experience.

Sunday Brunch

By Amy V |

A huge fan of the show I was super excited to go to Sur. Arrived on a Sunday around noon they were featuring Sunday brunch. We were welcome in right away and it was a fun time. DJ booth right in the front door and a couple of handsome bartenders behind the bar. We saw Raquel from the show and Lisa's son Max. Great times cant wait to see the show again after being there

Terrible Service

By UKGIRL |

My husband and I stopped by to get a drink and quick dinner before we went to see a band nearby on Wednesday night. We live in LA and from the UK. We decided to sit at the bar, there were 4 other people there and the place was pretty quiet. The bartender never even looked up or acknowldged us. 10 minutes went by and still nothing, we got up and walked out. Lisa, maybe your bartenders need more training, a bartender should always service the people sitting at the bar. Sorry, won't be back.

Had to go because of Vanderpump Rules

By hmill42894 |

While in LA, if you're a fan of Vanderpump Rules then you have to go to Sur. And as an avid watcher, I was not going to miss my chance! I made a reservation at Sur two months in advance to make sure I could go for my birthday and my friend's birthday. The restaurant is beautiful, with a great ambiance. When we got there, we went to the bar first because our table wasn't ready. We sat and lounged a bit, but it was kind of confusing as to when our table would be ready and how they would contact us. The hostess was not clear about it, and wasn't particularly friendly. When we were seated, we were seated on the patio in the front part of the restaurant. Our waitress, Presley, was great. She was attentive, giving recommendations of food and drinks; plus, she was super sweet! I ordered a big pinky and a Sur spa water as my two cocktails. They were huge, and pretty strong. Presley recommended the Sur spa water, and I loved it! As an appetizer, I had to get the goat cheese balls. They are delicious, I just wish more of them were served on the plate. For dinner, I ordered the salmon with two sides of mashed potatoes and broccoli. While salmon is a pretty basic dish, I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed our service, the ambiance of the restaurant, and the food/drink a lot! But the price was little high, even though I expected it. Definitely the best food of the three Vanderpump Rules restaurants! Will go back one summer!

Highly recommend making reservation

By Eddie A |

We made reservations ahead of time. The service was awesome. The food was amazing. Highly recommend. Even our son age 13 loved the food and atmosphere. Not fancy at all but relaxed dress code.

Scary

By Rhys L |

Me and my girlfriend went for our 6th Anniversary (which we put on our booking). We arrived and the vibe of this place is more like a strip club / brothel than an expensive restaurant. The staff were welcoming but were dressed in highly revealing clothes and looked like strippers. We had goats cheese balls for starters which were shared, this was unfortunately the highlight of the evening. My partner ordered salmon whilst I had seafood bucatini. The salmon came out cold and undercooked and the vegetables looked like they had been thrown on the plate. The bucatini was better but the sauce was look warm. Wouldn't recommend with how expensive this place is. Much better options.

Was a must-do for me as a fan of Lisa Vanderpump

By Lisa V |

We were planning a vacation to Newport Beach that included spending some time in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills so I decided that we must eat at one of the Vanderpump restaurants. We chose Sur and it is just as pictured on tv .. but you have to wonder how all the camermen squeeze in there. The restaurant is decorated beautifully an I did make it a point to walk through the different sections. Unfortunately, I did not see any of the staff from the show, But, the drinks and food were very good and my entire family were pleased with their meal which was great for me since they indulged my restaurant choice. I had the goat cheese balls and mushroom ravioli which were hearty portions and very tasty, my husband had the chilean sea bass that was a special and really enjoyed it, my daughter had the fried chicken and brought half of it home the portion was so large and my son had the fettuccine with shrimp, again large enough portions that he took some with him. We were too full for dessert but did share a slice of cheesecake. Overall it was a great experience and meal. We were seated in a cozy alcove that as adjacent to the covered outdoor seating at the front of the restaurant. Oh, and the English Garden Vesper martini was quite tasty and refreshing.

Very Disappointed

By cathy r |

We were very disappointed in Sur though the food was good and our waiter was good. We were seated by a wall that had vines etc and it was disgusting. There were huge cobwebs and a very big spider. That is not appealing for dinner ambience. Our water glasses were dirty as were the small bread plates. There is no excuse for this. The food was good and our waiter attentive but does not make up for the disgusting dirty decor.

Always a pleasure to visit!

By Jason O’Keefe |

It’s alway great to visit SUR when visiting LA. The food is beautiful and reasonably priced. The restaurant is beautifully decorated too. We were lucky enough to meet a few of the stars from Vanderpump rules too!

Great dinner - fun night

By countryclubber |

Loved our dinner at SUR. Great ambiance. We sat outside on the terrace and it was lovely. Great service in the bar waiting for our table and our server was fantastic. We had a table of 6 and all our our dishes were delicious. I ordered the filet with spinach. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great. A fun night!

Glitz and Gab

By jess darke |

Sur is a restaurant that serves the glitz and glamour of Hollywood more than it does any specialty fare. The restaurant is owned and operated by semi-celebrities and patronized by those seeking the same style of fame. The drink list is middle of the line and features martinis and margaritas. The menu is focused on pastas and meat. There are few but some vegetarian options. Go for the scene and you won't be disappointed by the food.

Visit to infamous reality show restaurant

By Lielie3 |

Took my daughter as it was her hearts desire. Made reservations in advance. I was pleasantly surprised the restaurant was pretty lots of chandeliers and fresh flowers. Everyone was very pleasant from the hostess to our waitress and busboy. The food was very good well prepared and timely. We were not rushed at all sat in one of the front side dining rooms. My daughter had the pleasure of meeting 2 of the characters she was familiar with from the show. Both men were very approachable and cordial and very gracious about taking a picture with her. It really made her day as this was our mother/ daughter bachelorette trip before her wedding and this is what she wanted to do, so we flew from the Bay Area for this experience and it was very lovely. Thank you for delivering.

Salt salt and more salt

By Michael W |

We ordered a variety of dishes including pasta and the lamb and after being super impressed with the decor and vibe of the place eagerly awaited our food to arrive.....we might as well have ordered a bowl of salt because everything tasted the same....salty. From rice to spaghetti to mash to veges to lamb....salt salt salt. We are at the end of a long holiday to the US and have eaten out every night for 36 nights...so we are pretty seasoned (pardon the pun). We have never had food which was so salty. I appreciate well seasoned food but this was a joke. Very disappointing and the only reason for the two stars is because of the venue itself...

I wanted to love it..

By Sandy |

We took a girls trip just this past week and made a reservation at SUR because we are huge fans of Vanderpump rules. Unfortunately it was not what we were expecting and we were a bit disappointed :(… When we arrived there was a stanchion in the way, you had to walk around it - really no big deal but it was confusing and out of place. As soon as Lisa’s other partner arrived he moved it right away. The host was eating behind her counter when she thought no one was looking, she had a friend sitting on the couch beside her(must have been someone off shift) also eating. It just looked unprofessional. The goat balls were amazing, and Lisa’s partner was very friendly and visited most tables! Pasta was undercooked and hard. Bathrooms were very dirty and need some tlc.. if I remember correctly there was also no purse hook, so I kept wondering where Lisa hangs her fancy purse if she ever uses that washroom lol. It’s still a must see if your ever in LA.

Perfect Evening of Dining

By Greg F |

I have been waiting over 7 years to travel here to eat and finally made it and it did not disappoint. The goat cheeseballs were amazing, I could have had just a few orders of them for a meal and been happy. Our table shared some different dishes, the spaghetti was non-traditional and delicious, lasagna was traditional and good and lastly the steak was cooked to perfection. The restaurant décor and atmosphere is to die for. Peter the manager was friendly and checked on our table few times on top of the server who did a great job. We celebrated our wedding anniversary here and could not have picked a better dining experience.

Atmosphere Is Everything

I loved everything about this experience. The decor, the service, the food (!). The overall experience was exactly what I had imagined.

Awful place

By rpc0705 |

visiting from the UK and went to Sur last night with my girlfriend. food was average at best. service was non existant. paid high price for a bottle of champagne and the waiter plonked it in an ice bucket and then disappeared for the night, not one drop of the bottle was poured by any waiter. Atrocious for what is supposed to be a top class restaurant. Lisa Van der Pump, you need to train your staff in customer service please

Excellent experience

Excellent restaurant ! Great food and nice service, so attentive We highly recommend! I will definitely come back... Thank you Ashley

Poor Experience

By J P |

Horrible Service and bland food Don't bother visiting. Very poor service and the food was bad, but they charged maximum price

Great ambience, but parking and service horrible

By Tiffany D |

VERY disappointed. Was looking forward to dining here for years since being a fan of Lisa and Vanderpump Rules. Unfortunately, we left early before even eating. Ambience is great, but the service was horrible. And it was NOT crowded. Hostess had us sit in the bar area and told us if no one came to take our order to go to the bar. I went to the bar and the bartender looked at me crazy and directed me to sit back at our seat and someone would come. Then the same hostess I initially spoke with finally came and took our drink order. This was about 20 minutes from when we first arrived, but we both loved our Silky Road drinks. Service was embarrassingly bad. The famous goat cheese balls were disappointing. There were three balls tossed on a bed of shredded carrots. Goat cheese wasn't warmed and they were dry. We each ate one, left the third and gulped our drinks, ready to leave. We were advised that their credit card system was down for a few days now so we would need to pay cash or via Venmo. You'd think they would have told us that BEFORE we ordered. We had reservations for drinks at TomTom, but after wrapping up that ordeal, we left and had dinner at The Henry where food and service were amazing.

Mediocre at best

By Cheri D |

What happened to this place? Was here 10 years ago and it's not the same. Everything was very mediocre. That's the best I can say. The service was meh. Could have been a chain restaurant. The food was terrible. Husband had the branzino and I had the seared salmon which looked like a sloppy mess. Peter brought our drinks and was nice. I could see he was happy to take pics with people who asked. Honestly, would not recommend. Maybe a pop in for a drink just to see the place but definitely would not recommend eating there. We will not be back.

Fabulous Time, Food & Drinks

Visited 17 June with my husband and two friends. We had booked this months in advance as part of our trip to the USA, and we were not disappointed. Beautiful decor great staff and wonderful food.

All I can say is WHY...

By KristenK1969 |

Place is packed because of being on TV, but I really expected better food and better service. Get seated have to ask for water and then Lisa's son serves us, does not introduce himself just says; wanna hear the specials??? Shouldn't even be a question... My crab cakes were burnt. The crab/lobster ravioli was luke warm. It all basically sucked and we will never go back. Little mexican place next door has better drinks and food... Just saying......

Definitely a fan must

By Sidneysider60 |

We booked well before our visit to LA as my Bruce is a big Vanderpump Rules fan. The restaurant was very busy and full on the night we went but the atmosphere was really great. The service was fantasyland food came quite quickly. I’d seen reviews about the service and food not being so good but I honesty-could not fault either. The food was great and a usual US large amount and the prices were very reasonable. They were filming on the night and for the few tables of fans we were with photo ops were welcomed. We even had dessert so we could stay longer. A fun enjoyable night, safe area and we were able to walk safely back to our Beverly Hills hotel.

FO SUR !!

Had dinner with my husband here last night. Drinks were great and we tried the scallops... yummy 😋 ❣️ walked into the bar area and enjoyed the decor Bravo 👏🏻Lisa Vanderpump

Sunday brunch

By Bob K |

My daughter watches the show and had to see Sur. We made an 11:30am reservation and were seated right away. Beautiful decor and good people watching. She had the protein breakfast and I was able to get the Bleu cheese burger and fries. Food was great and service was also good. After, we walked up the street and saw the TomTom and other cool spots on Santa Monica Blvd. fun day

Fun visit if you are a Bravo TV fan

By Lisa S |

The experience was fun, we saw a couple of the characters from the show Vanderpump Rules, but the food was mediocre at best, nothing else to say about it really? It was "ok"

Best food and cocktails

By Tarja Sandquist |

Booked dinner on a Tuesday night which was also a Spicy tequila night. The atmosphere in this restaurant is fantastic! The whole place is so nicely decorated. The food was delicious and the personnel very attentive. After dinner, we hang out in the bar where one of the cast in the tv show was working. A strange thing we noted was that there was only one restroom and kind of all the way back the restaurant! All in all, a great night to remember from our trip to LA and West Hollywood!

Granddaughter’s 6th Birthday

By amyhass |

Our granddaughter wanted to go to the beach for her birthday. The closest beach was California so we decided to let her do all the fun and exciting things she could. The meal was the best meal that we had in California! The sea bass was excellent! My husband raved about his ahi tuna. Our granddaughter loved her quesadilla lol! I had to make her save room for cake. The staff was pleasant and service was excellent.

Beautiful

By Astaria |

Beautiful just like on the show. Restaurant is much smaller than it appears on tv. Food was delicious, drinks were cold and the ambiance was spectacular! Very attentive to our group of 9! Also a quick walk to TomTom and the main drag of West Hollywood.

Terrible

By HlN |

Nice decor and ambience but dreadful food and appalling service. Absolutely terrible. Full disclosure- we were part of a large group and therefore had a limited menu (which is fair enough) but... Our waiter, Jesse (sp) had an atrocious attitude, and the food was extremely poor. The appetiser salad was a plate of lettuce with (I kid you not) one half a cherry tomato and soaked in dressing. The pasta main course was penne pasta straight out of a packet (it seemed), with 3 or 4 pieces of chopped up tomato, one basil leaf, and literally 3 or 4 pine nuts. My neighbor’s salmon was VERY oily. The bread was small squares of something dry and tasteless. Dessert was ok. Seriously - terrible.

Absolutely awful!

By Suzzie R |

Having flown in from London earlier that day, we were very excited to have a fabulous supper and evening at SUR, however, we were EXTREMELY disappointed by the restaurant’s service, cleanliness and food. In fact, we all reached the conclusion that our microwaved space food on our 11 hour flight was a luxury in compared to the cold lasagnes that we were served and the “Cesar salad” that was a pile of gem lettuce topped off with some very salty breadcrumbs. Completely overpriced! Whilst the staff are friendly, they add to the red light/brothel feel of the place. Nothing about this restaurant lives up to expectation and I would strongly advise that nobody goes out of their way to visit this “establishment”.

Well Worth a Visit

By El Turista John |

The reviews for Lisa Vanderpump’s Sur are all over the place and given that the restaurant also serves as a set for a reality TV show it’s hard to know what to expect. All that said, the restaurant, staff and kitchen delivered, a eclectic atmosphere, top notch service, with well prepared and tasty food. I started it all off with LVP’s signature “pinky” drink and the goat cheese balls followed by the roasted lamb and topped off with the blackberry cobbler. All tasty with good flavors. LVP’s son Max was my server and he was friendly, professional and attentive—couldn’t ask for more from a waiter. I thought the restaurant itself was charming with its Southern European meets LVP flare vibe. My only quibble about the experience was what seemed like a push to “flip” the tables as fast as possible-no chance to relax or take a breath between courses. Still, I’d go back again.

Disgusting service

By Venture10610796383 |

Made a reservation for our 15th wedding anniversary, me and my husband walked to the desk to make the aware of our reservation, was just told to go to the bar, after standing there for 20 being ignored by several servers an bar tenders we walked out and never even made it to our table, absolute joke. From reading some of the reviews I'm glad we didn't stay.

WOW AMAZING EXPERIENCE AGAIN !!!!!

By Richard S |

To be greeted by Lisa Vanderpump squealing at me as she exited the kitchen at Sur, after speaking with her staff, sums up this place- great fun!! The work the Vanderpumps have obviously put into this place obviously delivers- great food, great surroundings and service and a fantastic experience Book a table and enjoy! Been here before and look forward to returning in the future when visiting from England

Dinner with friends

By Smiffydog13 |

SUR I went with travel companions on a trip to L.A. one if our group having watched some reality TV show, wanted to go here. It's a really nice resturaunt bar, decor is cool and very Beverly Hills, in this trendy party area of L.A. I can't fault the bar as a place for a night out, cocktails etc, but the food for the price was not great, none of our party was totally happy with their meal, it just wasn't what we had expected at these prices, service and atmosphere spot on, food average.

Way better places - don’t waste your time

By Peronna |

We actually went into SUR twice while we were in the area. The first time we went in, the bouncer had told us they had stopped serving and it was only 1030. We told him we had taken an Uber there and they were advertised as being open until midnight. So then he said he would check with the manager and when he came back he said we could go in. However after walking in, the people in there were so gross we turned around and walked out. A couple days later we were with some friends who said they always wanted to go there. We thought we would give it another try. We sat down for a drink in the lounge, our server was friendly enough and the drinks were OK. What turned us off the most were the types of people there. We left after our first drink because it was really a low class group of people.

Disappointed Aussie

By Olivia W |

What a disappointment • There was about 1x server for about 9 tables, we "forgot" to take our mains order very far after we had completed eating our entre. • The Tuna Tartar was extremely below average and I've had alot of them all over the world. Im shocked how tastless this was shoved in on a bed of rock hard avocado taking up most of the dish. • Avocados in the Gouc was not mashed up at all. The avo was chunky, hard and no added flavour or seasoning. • Only things thay where good where the drinks • The Metal table we sat at was so rusty i could only smell the rust from the able over my food. Even my arms smelt lile rust when I got home. • My suggestion is go to Craig's around the corner. Considering I was forced to give a minimum 20% tip. And my bill for only 2x mains and x entres came to $190 USD I will never come back

Nothing special

By VICS4 |

Another restaurant to tick off the list on our recent visit to LA. We had a dinner reservation for the sunday night. The restaurant had many empty tables and we were taken to the solitary table right near the bar with people standing all around us at the bar. The lighting is very dim that we could hardly read the menu. We had some very ordinary bread and butter bought to the table. We ordered cocktails, once again nothing special. Our food was bought out very quickly and perhaps i just had high expectations of Lisa VP's restaurant but was very dissappointed. Our dinner was over in no time at all. Our bill was placed on the table and we felt very rushed. Overall everything was just average from the staff to the cocktails to the food. I expected so much better here. Most would come here hoping to see someone from the show not for the great food.

Amazing Cocktails

By Sean+stephen |

We are huge fans of the show Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills so we had to visit here. We were not disapointed. The food was wonderful especially the goats cheese balls! The staff were so warm friendly and helpful. Drinks were so good. The overall feel and atmosphere was just perfect. We met Lisa Ken and other cast members.

Thanks, Jax!!

By BonJoviGroupie |

I went here on a Thursday night with a group of 10 teacher friends. We had heard that Jax was doing a Tips For Teachers event because he found out that most teachers have to provide most of their own supplies. We went to have some after dinner cocktails and sure enough Jax was there. He was extremely nice and took pictures with us. We told him we were all teachers and he told us all about how he was collecting money for a group of teachers in Detroit. He was going to match all of the money collected that night and Lisa was donating a large sum of money too. He spent a long time with us and was so friendly. My friends told Jax it was my birthday and he kept coming back over to me and wishing me a happy birthday. We had a great time visiting with Jax and enjoying the cocktails.

Gorgeous restaurant

By AprilG981 |

Had a girls weekend in LA and had to eat at SUR. The decor is beautiful and the food is delicious! We had the goat cheese balls, salmon appetizer and lobster raviolis. They were all so good! I also had the Strawberrini and it was so pretty and tasted so good. We definitely loved it!

Staff was extremely pleasant

By Robert F |

We came here for drinks this past Friday before dinner at another spot. I will say that the service made the experience better. It appears to me that there is a good number of tourist that come here - naturally since the place is on tv. Teh drinks however were average like at and average happy hour spot in the burbs. Definitely not on par for this type f establishment and location. Let alone since the prices are right there with pther West Hollywood establishments.

Disappointed

By Hargett |

Traveled far from the east coast & I was so excited to visit SUR ... I was extremely disappointed. Our waitress was unwelcoming & unfriendly...she pretty much acted like she hated her job & was pissed off at life. The bar side of the restaurant where the low tables & green chairs are was gross... smelled dirty & the chairs were actually dirty with crusty spots. The bathrooms were filthy gross. The rest of the place was pretty to look at but didn’t make up for the disappointing factors. The food was decent but I expected so much more.

How to get in?

By Karin325 |

Planned to visit this restaurant for a long time and finally managed a reservation via OpenTable. This was for dinner on a Sunday night. We were 10 mins early and very excited to get there. When we arrived at the valet, we were told that they do not accept any more cars and we would have to search for our own carpark. Sad to say, that we are not living in L.A., and we do not know our way around this neighborhood. It was a busy night and I was not even able to get out of the car, so we were stranded. We had to cancel our reservation. A visit at this famous restaurants remains in the future? Maybe, maybe not.

Brunch review

By Anya L |

It's a lot tackier than it looks on TV but there are some interesting bits and pieces in there. Perhaps brunch isn't it's best scene. The meal itself was fairly basic and didn't really justify the cost. We got put in the back bit which my husband thought was like a tent and the soft drink I wanted (there only seemed to be two on the brunch menu) was not available so I had the other which was a very weird lavender drink which I wasn't very keen on. I'm a fan of the show and I didn't really expect any of the characters to be there as no doubt they only work occasionally. Discussing it later, in retrospect, we should have gone to Pump. But it was an experience.

It was okay

By Kirsty S |

We were visiting from Australia and only because of the name did we go. The decor is nice, the staff a friendly but if appreciate fine dining or close to it then you will be disappointed. The menus look like they are from a diner not a sophisticated restaurant. I doing really have anything to complain about but certainly nothing to rave about either. It’s just a place you can say you ate at in LA and people know what you are taking about.

Great music and food

By BarryGMoor |

Probably smaller than we were expecting but it’s a great restaurant with good service, great food and a fantastic DJ. Worth visiting.

Bravo Lover’s trip to Beverly Hills

By Emily B |

Disappointed with Sur... As a bravo lover, I was so excited to experience Sur. We received our appetizers before our drinks which was annoying. The goat cheese balls were SUPER tiny. The calamari was the only good thing. The shrimp fettuccini was really salty and when I told the server, she seemed personally offended and annoyed and asked if I wanted another plate. I didn’t want the same plate of saltiness. Lastly, I found one penne noodle in the dish (see pic). We felt like we were inside a circus tent. The best part of the night was seeing Guillermo and Peter. They were very kind and friendly. My strawberri was tasty but the food was just mediocre. My advice would be to improve on the recipes and serve bigger portions.

Below average food

By Jamescolo |

My partner is a big fan of the show so she wanted to eat one night here. I ordered a rib eye with sauteed spinach and my partner ordered pasta, I couldn't believe how much salt they threw on the steak, including the spinach. Not to mention my partner had the same issue with her pasta...the quality food was counter meals at best. I have no idea why it has a good name.

A great visit to Sur

By Irish-Rover1 |

Last night of our trip, we planned it this way. We made reservations roughly a month ahead. Very friendly staff, excellent wait staff. Our meals were excellent. This was worth the visit. I would go back without a doubt.

Not only for fans of the show

By YYC Travel Dad |

Dined here with my wife who is a huge fan of the show so the experience was memorable just because of that. Our server was one of the show casts so she loved that. The food was really good too though. Good atmosphere to have dinner and drinks + people watch.

Outstanding service all around

By lilith.v |

Our experience far exceeded our expectations. The entire staff was incredibly welcoming, especially McKenna (who made PERFECT cocktails) and Peter (consummate professional). The goat cheese balls really are worth having - that mango sauce is the perfect accompaniment. And the Pasta alla Norma was excellent - The sauce was surprisingly good. Highly recommend, even if you are not a fan of VPR.

Lovely meal

By Sophia P |

Easy to make reservation on open table. Cosy seating although a little tight in the front court yard. Nice decor and great service attentive and friendly. We shared bread and peppers and mushrooms on skewers to start with a lovely sauce. Lots of wine options as well as other drinks. Main courses all lovely the carbonara, the impossible burger, the risotto with shrimps and the seafood pasta too. Really nice meal, great ambience too shame we couldn’t experience the indoor dining experience.

Food is delicious

By BeachSeekerG |

I have been watching the show since 2013 and now finally was able to go here. It’s much more beautiful inside than I imagined, so much detail in the decor. The food was delicious, I had vegan curry and blackberry cobbler with ice cream 🍨

Terrible service

By Liz Rowley |

We went there unfortunately did not check out reviews but taxi driver said it was better than pump went to a lovely bar first which in hindsite we should of eaten in, got there shown to our table all ok then waited ages for 1st course then as we took our last bite our lasagne was thrown on table as they took away our plates from 1st course, I did say we would of liked a small break before main course just got a glare we decided against ordering desert got the bill the waiter took card to bar and he put it through himself which I was fuming about and brought back receipt that surely is worst customer service ever

Really enjoyed my birthday treat!

By Elizabeth D |

My hubby booked us a table here. We've been visiting the area from Ireland. I had cocktails, Sur Spritz was lovely. For food i had lasagne and truffle fries but it was so tasty. Very good service (our server was Laurence) and had a really enjoyable night for my birthday 😊

Lovely but there is better

By Paivar |

The restaurant itself was gorgeous, very pretty with lots of flowers. We were seated in a back room weaving through other rooms to get there, kind of a fun place! The food was ok, a little expensive considering the portion sizes are small by American standards. The service was ok, the server was nice but he seemed stretched as we found we had to search for him. We also booked for 6 and our table was set for 5 so we took a minute to get a 6th place but it wasn't too bad. We came, we saw but we probably won't come again.

Vanderpump Rules!

By Ero40 |

I've always wanted to go, and this time I was in LA as a solo traveller and plucked up enough courage to dine on my own. I only decided a couple of days ahead and so even through it was a week night, the restaurant was quite booked up, however I managed to get a table at 9:15pm. Although I was on my own I felt quite comfortable dinning alone and the staff were kind and attentive throughout my time there. I did not feel embarrassed to be dinning alone. Of course lots of people who were there looked like they might be tourists like myself and keen to see Lisa Vanderpump or one of the cast, but alas none of them were there that night. Although I suspect most of the drama happens in the bar area which didn't really venture into. I'd suggested that you might venture into there after your meal for a night cap. The restaurant surroundings were beautiful, even the bathroom was pretty fancy. I loved the pink lights outside and the décor inside. The food was good and I was happy with the items I had. Given the reputation of the restaurant I felt that it was well priced, although I do know in NZ we pay a lot more for food and restaurants can be pricy, so I was comparing it to our prices. Definitely worth going to weather or not you watch the show and if you're brave and are travelling alone then I'd highly recommend venturing out. On returning to New Zealand, it's been the talk of my travel conversations with lots of people saying how much they'd love to go there, of course the first thing the ask me is weather I saw Lisa or not.

Goat cheese heaven

By Glenn S |

The service was prompt and the goat cheese balls were good. Our meal came out at a timely manner, the ambiance was good but a tad noisy (we were seated near the back bar and near a hallway). We would certainly make a return visit especially when my husband met and got a photo session with Scheana Shay of Vanderpump Rules.

Love Sur! Great service, food, drinks!

By Michael M |

Love Sur! Great service, good food, and great drinks. While not cheap, it’s also not overly expensive (which I get is still relative). Food portions are well-sized, and with already having garden seating (with heat), this restaurant is great for dining outside. They’ve also set up street side dining. Get reservations on OpenTable.

Unclean/terrible service

By sarahstrouts |

This is the first time I have written a review. On vacation from London. Am a huge fan of Lisa Vanderpump and after visiting Villa Blanca many years ago (which was fabulous) I was excited to visit Sur. However.. here are some bullet points of our visit. Entrance - looked untidy, did not give a great first impression. Needed a good sweep!! Waited over 40 mins for a drink (the restaurant was not busy) Waited an hour to place our food order. Another table that had arrived after us were eating before we had even ordered our food. Restrooms were dirty. Food plates on the side as you walked to the restroom. Food was average. We never got the sides we ordered but these were on our bill. After complaining (which I very rarely do) I was given two complimentary mimosas.) One of which I left because we couldn’t wait to leave. Atmosphere - none. We had looked forward to this for weeks, celebrating our wedding anniversary. Would not recommend and would not return. Such a disappointment. I think if Lisa V had done an impromptu visit she would have been extremely peed off with the cleanliness/service. I’m sure this will all be different when the cameras are there next week but unfortunately that doesn’t help out visit.

Highly over rated very poor

By Alcook |

We went as a family as my wife & daughter like Lisa & the shows have to say the staff were welcoming & very nice. Wish the food was as good unfortunately it was the worst food on our 17 day holiday we all had a cup of tea & burger & chips $ 200 later the two different toilets I used were dark & horrible would definitely not recommend eating here

Tacky and dated

By JoJo S |

Arrived and found the decor dated and tacky. Most staff were friendly. The food came out incredibly quickly (as if it had been waiting ready made to serve) I had the lasagne which tasted good but was cold so had to be sent back to be reheated (again, the ready made food must go onto a hot plate to keep warm) when it was reserved it was still cold. The added appearance of a mouse running across the floor was not what we were expecting! Our server was mediocre.

Nice place

By Egil Burkeland |

Nice resturant, good food and good athmosfear. Was there with my wife and two of my sons, and we liked it. Not only for the food, but most of all the people in the resturant and the workers was very nice.

Great experience

By Lisa M |

We originally had reservations to sit in the bar area but the hostess recommended sitting outside in the garden area which was very nice. We started out with the fried goat cheese balls which were absolutely delicious!! The caprese salad which was also very good. I ordered the grilled shrimp which was not at all what I was expecting. It was a cold dish of shrimp and couscous. It was a nice dish but more of a lunch. My friend ordered lasagna that was so spot on. The sauce was just right!! Not too sweet and definitely not bland. The atmosphere was nice, waitstaff very friendly and Peter was super nice taking pictures with guests. I would definitely recommend trying this place!! The reason for only 4 stars is that the server could have been more attentive

We spotted Peter!

By Goldenspring |

Not that we are particularly proud of the fact, but my daughter and I are addicted to “Vanderpump Rules,” and this is the Mecca for reality show sightings. Celebrating my daughter’s law school graduation and my and my friend’s birthdays, we decided to have brunch on a very recent Saturday. We are very happy we did. Besides the wicked giddiness that ensued, the food and cocktails were top notch. Glad we went. A glimpse of Lisa Vanderpump would have taken it over the top!

Over-hyped disappointment

By Simon D |

We visited for my friend’s 50th birthday as he’s a big fan of the show. When we arrived we were surprised at the lack of customers for a Friday evening in West Hollywood, especially as most other places appeared to be full to capacity and operating queueing systems. We were seated in the outdoor area on a table that was far too small for the three of us, in a spot that was so dimly lit that we had difficulty in reading the menu Our three drinks all arrived at different times - my friend’s glass of Prosecco arrived within a few minutes, followed around a quarter of an hour later by my cup of coffee (they said they were brewing a fresh pot, which sounds more like something you’d expect in a diner) and my other friend’s glass of Bailey’s on ice arrived one hour after she ordered it (and after issuing five reminders to the serving staff). The food arrived suspiciously quickly, making me doubt that the kitchen actually does any cooking, and simply re-heats pre-prepared meals. For starters we ordered the mussels and clams, and the goats cheese balls, with bread to share. Tasting the food, my suspicions were confirmed that it had been brought in from an outside kitchen - the goats cheese balls were clearly mass-produced, and had the look and taste of something you might purchase from a supermarket. My friend’s mussels and clams were cold, with some of the shells found to be empty. For our main courses, we ordered spaghetti with meatballs, a seafood pasta dish, and chicken. We also ordered two sides - lobster mashed potato and Brussels sprouts. The only main that made it past this point was the chicken - my friend and I refused the two pasta dishes, as they were both of very poor quality. The pasta was overcooked and the sauce tasted like something out of a jar. Both dishes had a supermarket ready-meal quality to them, which can be fine at home when you’re short of time, but not at a restaurant, and certainly not at these prices. The lobster mashed potato side tasted like instant mashed potato, and the Brussels sprouts tasted like last night’s leftovers re-heated. All in all, this place was a huge disappointment - poor quality food, patchy and inconsistent service, and poorly thought-out dining arrangements. It’s relying on its association with a TV show and a celebrity, rather than building a reputation for good food and service.

Brunch at Sur

By 4chionlifestyle |

The atmosphere is nice. There is a great outdoor setting is perfect for brunch. The food was ok nothing special. The lettuce was wilted. Meet Ken Todd (owner). He was friendly and open to pictures. It is not pricy.

Monday night dinner

By Soe |

I was excited to have the opportunity to go to Sur. I’ve watched the show for years! First off the place is so pretty! The atmosphere is great! I got to take a picture with Peter right when I first got there. Food was delicious! We enjoyed our meals and ambience. Would definitely recommend!

Eh!

By Ricki Rockafellor |

We were hoping for better service. I guess LVP doesn’t hire the staff for their brains ;) Server was messy with drink placement. Spilled water and ice on my toes (not the worst thing that can happen), and never offered to correct it. She also spilled both martinis on the table and I had to ask for napkins to clean it up. So I table was messy from that pint on. Seating was chaos and disorganized. Average rating, if you are expecting a Chili’s or Applebee’s setting.

Way better than I expected

By thomas a |

We went here for lunch because my wife is a big fan of the vanderpump show. I wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The service was brilliant. All of the staff was very friendly. My wife was very happy when peter the manager brought her out the drink she ordered. Both meals were tasty and very light but filling. Would definitely eat here again if I was ever back in California. I had a sip of her sangria and it was delicious. Peter was nice enough at the end of the meal to take a photo with my wife.

food was decent; decor needs updating

By B V |

As a fan of the Real Housewives, I have been anxious to visit all of Lisa Vanderpumps restaurants. This one is smaller than I'd envisioned. The tables are kind of close together, and the restaurant looks like it could use a coat of paint, but the food was pretty good. The service was great. I had their rendition of chicken parmesan, but it had a funny taste to it. The pasta was very good. I would definitely give it another try the next time I'm in town.

Good food , great atmosphere

By neherer |

Big fan of the show, so I was excited to dine here. The food was excellent and service was great! Peter was our waiter. It is a very pretty atmosphere especially if you sit out in the patio kind of area, lots of drapes material and chandeliers. The fettuccine was amazing!!

Terrible

By hotpr33 |

The staff is too busy to chat among themselves to give good service and the food was terrible. I was told this is a must go to place, but unless they wanted us to see how bad this place is they were so wrong!!!

Fun and Stylish Atmosphere

By Kimberly B |

My best friend wanted to eat here because it is owned by a TV personality. It was a really fun atmosphere. A little hard to see with the color lighting and I would say it is a little hyped up for what it is. Generally a great meal and worth the visit if you are looking for a FUN LA place to eat! Solid meal and solid service. I really enjoyed my pasta and had a great time!

Wife made me do it, promise...

By Nathanearl |

We were in LA and my wife is an avid follower of Vanderpump rules so we just had to go.........Actually very surprised at how many people were waiting to get in at 5pm I mean it’s just reality TV, isn’t it?. Actually it was a very reasonably priced bar, very nice decor and excellent choice of liquor and beers, staff were all very attentive, will be going back for dinner as it’s not just TV its a very good place.

Nice food

The food was good, nice ambience, service a little slow. We arrived early but were shown to our table straight away.

Amazing evening

This was amazing we had Louis serving us so attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks menu I would definitely go back we had the best evening the cocktails were on point

Pretty good

By Ron9 |

Apps were pretty good, pork chop was good. Wife’s martini had very little alcohol in it. Waitress, named Sable, was cold and unfriendly And didn’t respond when we said it was our daughter’s birthday. The restaurant itself is funky.

Fantastic date night!

By heather3130 |

We came here because of VPR…I had read other reviews and wasn’t sure what to expect. The food was amazing, the service was amazing and it was fun fan girling for a bit! We had drinks in the bar while we waited for our reservation time and the bar servers were so sweet. Our dinner server was FANTASTIC let me take some pics in the Alley and showed us around the restaurant, even the parts that were closed for the day. I even got to chat with Peter. We ordered the goat cheese balls, the Brussel sprouts for apps and my husband ordered the Branzino and I ordered the lasagna for our entrees…it was all yummy. We’d go back for the food and service for sure!

21st Birthday Dinner

By Alyssa P |

Great place to get drinks or have a bite to eat. We arrived early to the restaurant & were allowed to sit at the bar while we waited for our table, Demi was our server & she was great! Very nice, giving good check ups on us & great service all around. The goat cheese balls are to die for, as well as the strawberry cocktail they have. All three of us got pasta options & they all were delicious. Definitely will be visiting here again.

Okay

By Fran |

Went because I am a huge fan of the show. It was definitely fun to see in real life and to try the food and drinks mentioned on the show so much. The food was just very average to me so that is why the review was not higher. If I could do it again, I would just go for drinks at the bar. The food was not worth the price tag, and there are so many better places to eat in LA.

Never watched the show...

By MeraKi25 |

I’ll be honest, I don’t watch the show, but went with someone who does. Apparently it didn’t live up to the tv hype for her, but the decor is great and the food was pretty good. We were seated on a covered porch area. Prices are decent ($25-$35 average entree). Goat cheese balls were recommended, so we ordered these. They were about the size of a quarter and came with three on the plate... not really worth it, but my fish was good, and my cocktail was even better!

Funky setting for an early dinner

By Michael D |

Enjoyable early dinner option after a long day of sight seeing. not the most comfortable room in the world, but, the food and drinks were lovely and we enjoyed being in a slightly different setting. If this was in our town we would check it out periodically as the menu was varied and the drinks fun.

A bit of a hit and a miss for us

By Alex |

Sur is located just down the road from Vanderpumps other restaurants in West Hollywood. I was a bit surprised overall by Sur. I have read many good reviews about the food and service and also heard good things. For us this was a bit of a hit and miss experience. To start I had the Tuna Tartare and it was tasty. The fish was well seasoned and the portion size was good. My mum had the Fried Goat Cheese Balls and she was a bit disappointed by them. They were dry and a bit underwhelming. My brother had the Bread Basket and it was pretty good. The balsamic butter in particular was delicious. Something kinda shocked me here a bit. When the bus person came to clean our plates after our starters, they asked us to remove our cutlery from the plates so that we could reuse them for our entrees. Now I know this is normal at some places but it was a bit of a shock at a higher end establishment. It was unusual and not something any of my family had come across when eating at a higher end restaurant. For entrees I had the Lamb Cutlet special and it was really good. The meat was really flavoursome and the lamb had been cooked as I’d asked for it to be done. My mum had the Spring Peas Ravioli and again it was just a bit underwhelming. There was nothing really wrong with it but for the price point it should be a bit of a larger potion or maybe offer a cheaper protein to go with it. My brother had the Skirt Steak for his main and he really liked it. Being skirt it was thin but it was still cooked to his liking. For dessert we ordered the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Roasted Banana and Coconut Tart (we did get new cutlery for dessert). The pudding was good, the only surprise was the mandarins on top which were a nice addition. The tart was a bit of a hit and miss for us. The filling was good but the tart shell was too thick and had a bit of a strange taste. The service at the restaurant again was a bit of a hit and miss. The service was a bit slow at times and our drinks sat empty for a while before someone asked if we wanted replacements. This may have been as we were eating in a section of the restaurant by ourselves for a lot of the night so maybe servers just weren’t coming through as regularly. On the other side of this though all the staff we spoke to were really friendly and food came at a good pace. Overall I’d say we were a bit disappointed. Not disappointed because it was bad but because it was just not as good as we thought it would be. However this was our first time there and I will be excited to see what it is like if/when we return.

A Little Celebrity and Great Food

By Grover R |

Yes, we made the reservation here for the Housewives fame, but the food surpassed the celebrity. This was our best restaurant meal of the trip. We had a party of 12 and were able to get the large party table in the middle of the restaurant. Once both cars arrived, we got drinks and appetizers. The cheese balls were awesome. Everyone in our party had one and all were liked. We then got entrees and I had Halibut. It was very good. Finally, my wife and shared a blackberry cobbler that was melt in your mouth good. Our wives then enjoyed getting pictures including one with a manger who is on the show. Again, this was a great meal. While we felt like we could have been the parents of everyone else in the restaurant, it was a great meal and with our own room a great place for a larger party. For me it was the best restaurant meal of our trip. So yes it has some celebrity, but the food is good on its own.

Disappointed

By Ryan W |

The ambience was like the name suggests. Unfortunately it was empty on a Friday night at 11pm, which created a bad vibe. When i arrived, it was hard to find a host to get me a table. The waiter didn't put my napkin out, and gave me a half set of cutlery. They were however, nice about taking photos and friendly. The food was expensive, with no interesting options. I was excited to try the goats cheese balls - they were just fried pieces of cheese, and had been refried so not even fresh. Joe's fettucine was fresh pasta, but bland.

Mother and daughter dinner

By theresek576 |

This was beyond disappointing, Everything about this dinner except our server was not good, from drink bad martini bread was plain white bread just cut up. Lobster ravioli had absolutely no taste. Daughters fish was dry. Anyone who raves over goat cheese balls have never had good ones. Total waste of over $100.00 and time. Everyone around us had same opinion. Atmosphere was dull and old. Don't waste time over a purely TV hyped restaurant.

Drink

By MJ215 |

We went here of course because of Lisa Vanderpump. I don’t watch Vanderpump Rules but I like her from RHBH so I wanted to go, we went somewhere else for dinner and just went there as part of our night out for drinks. The bar was pretty and my boyfriend surprised me with desert in a private dining area which was gorgeous! We loved the music, it wasn’t overly crowded but it had a nice crowed. I can’t comment on the food, drinks were just ok, and ambiance was cool. Would I go again? Probably not, once was enough.

Feels a bit cheap in places

By Chris H |

So the good points... restaurants décor ambience and staff were really good. Food was good, but not great. Wine was okay but definitely not good for the price. The big things for me.... The glasses for expensive wine were very cheap! Supermarket glasses pretty much. You can't drink good wine from rubbish glasses. The water glasses were very much worse. It's simple to provide nice glasses when you are trying to create a premium feel. Final point... don't put paper table cloth over linen table cloths...it's just cheap and nasty. Change these small things and you have a nice restaurant.

Big disappointment

By Lisa S |

Big disappointment with food and service. Four out of the five of us got our meals, and the fifth never showed up. We waited and waited to eat ours so as to not be rude, and finally after about 15 minutes someone appeared to refill our water so we told them that our girlfriend still didn’t have her food. He disappeared, and then our waitress came about 5 minutes later and we had to tell her (besides this, she was absolutely lovely). We then had to wait at least 10 more minutes for her order to actually be made, so all of our food was cold. Quality of food was not great - disappointing considering what a big deal LVP makes on television about this. When all was said and done our girlfriend didn’t even get her dinner comped - just one drink. So many better places to eat in LA, sadly.

Perfection as Promised!

By tiffandtroy25 |

I wanted to treat my daughters to something very special for their 21st birthday and Sur did NOT disappoint!! From the valet, to the floor manager to the host to the waiter to the server and even the busser, everyone was so kind and thoughtful; we were so impressed and delighted by our choice to dine here. The food was beautifully presented and DELICIOUS!! The ambience was perfection and the smells from the fresh flowers transported us to the countryside!! Highly recommend ~ we will definitely be back!!

Nothing Special

By Global_Tourists |

We dropped by due to the owner's association with The Real Housewives TV show, which my partner watches. There is on-street metered parking nearby. Externally, an unimpressive single-storey building with a garden forecourt. We were offered internal or exterior seating. We chose inside high-table seats and ordered cocktails with appetisers. The sliders and truffle parmesan fries appetisers were tasty and shared. Our Margaritas and Strawberry Gimlets were well mixed. The decor is a shabby-chic, a colourful mix of styles which gave an overall impression of a Moroccan souk. A pleasant yet disappointingly unremarkable venue.

Disappointed

By Laura R |

Was excited to come here however unfortunately the experience wasnt great. Whilst it was interesting to see the latest series of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ being filmed, unfortunately this had a knock on affect on the service. We had to ask to order a drink, we then had to ask to order our food. We never found out who our assigned waiter actually was as all of them were too busy trying to get on camera rather than actually serving the guests. First and foremost this is a restaurant i think this should be remembered when filming. Guests are paying alot of money to dine here!

SUR should be called sux

By Scott S |

This restaurant sucks. I reserved a table for Saturday at 5:15 and specifically reserved a table inside. I arrive early and was told the only tables were outside. I explained that we reserved a table inside and the snooty hostess told me that we were more than welcome to wait for a table inside but at this time this was it. I was sat in a corner on a 30 degree angle on a poorly tiled patio. This restaurant sucks. LOOK AT THE MESS NEXT TO my table at this supposed high end reataurant. I've had better fish at Fred's fish fry! Over priced tourist trap.

lost it’s sparkle

By steve d |

We have eaten here a few times but in my opinion it’s lost its magic which is a shame Parts of it are looking quite tired and needs a refresh More attention to detail needed how can you have so many light features with bulbs not working Food was now just average Asked out server for some sauce that never arrived we had to ask another server who did deliver Now very overpriced There are better value options available in west Hollywood with amazing vibes

A West Hollywood Restaurant Experience

By Mocha S |

We had reservations upon arrival we were seated immediately. Seating was inner outside with a heated lamp for a wonderful California evening. Our server was great an former NYC native who relocated to pursue acting and menu game was on point as her recommendations were superb. We also met Peter who was charming! The food, drinks, and dessert was amazing especially the smoked creme brûlée and the sticky toffee pudding. I can’t say enough about the service at hospitality at SUR Restaurant Lounge.

Birthday Brunch

By JustAretha |

In my humble opinion Sur should eliminate brunch and open more tables for dinner Instead. I did not like their vegan burger and my daughter did not like their yogurt either. Tables book fast, make reservation a week or so in advance. Otherwise, you will only have brunch as an option. And that’s not much of an option compared to dinner.

Not so sure about this one :/

By Jennifer T |

So obviously after seeing Vanderpump Rules I felt the need for booking a table here whilst on a trip to LA. My fiancé and I arrived and were seated in the furthest part of the restaurant which could only be considered as a tent. The wind kept flying through the gaps to make sure I kept my jacket firmly on. The staff in our area couldn't look more disinterested in their job if they tried...just waiting to get picked by Lisa for their turn on the reality tv show. The bread/water boy looked like he was a little bit away with the faeries and possibly a cousin of Joey Essex to explain his dizziness! I had a shrimp chopped salad which was piled with shrimp and it tasted so good! So maybe that outweighed the cold from outside and the bored staff. The bar was MASSIVELY busy, probably with people in hope of seeing somebody from TV.

Terrible

By Vicky M |

Food was overpriced for its mediocrity. Felt like I was being served by hookers. I would never ever go there again or advise anybody to go.

A slight let down

By John Vincent |

Visited on 7th for my wife's 50th as part of a trip from London. Overall a great restaurant - food was lovely and our waitress also. The bar staff and front of house though are somewhat shambolic, with the former male bar tenders more interested in preening rather than serving drinks... Also my daughter spent ages trying to get through on email and phone to buy a celebration drink, only to finally get a standard email saying Sur was fully booked. Would definitely benefit from a service overview/upgrade.

Mother daughter dinner

By Anne P |

Went to Dur as fans if Lisa Vanderpump and Vanderpump Rules. Restaurant was very beautifully appointed. Dinner was very disappointing. Food just ok. I think This is a tourist attraction and food is not the main focus. Other reviews have expressed the same. Come on Lisa! Up your game!

Subpar food in a neat atmosphere

By Jeremey W |

The atmosphere of SUR is a major draw. The menu is easy to navigate, and the wine list is fairly extensive. The food was only just passable. Salads were delivered over the course of 20 minutes. Main course received mixed reviews from the rest of the table - dry and chewy pasta and steaks were tough and over cooked (pink (warm) inside, charcoal on the outside.

Spend money elsewhere, they don’t want you to even be there!

By Peaceloveroche |

My friend and I had made reservations for SUR two months in advance, as we planned a trip to West Hollywood since the VPR crew is from here. Upon arriving, we were so excited to order our mimosas and enjoy everything that #SurBrunch had to offer. From the second we walked in, we were unimpressed, but willing to look past the hostesses lululemon attire and lack of interaction since we were so happy to be there. The hostess took four of us in at the same time, along with a couple, and pointed us to different tables. I thought this was a strange and unprofessional seating strategy. I noticed immediately after that my menu was dirty with food, and that the decor of the restaurant looked as if it was purchased at a dollar store. After a couple of minutes, our server came by to take our orders. My friend and I both ordered different types of mimosas, and my celiac friend, asked our server if there were any gluten free options for her. She had previously looked at the menu online and no GF options were specified, but she still wanted to go to the restaurant for the experience. Our server flat out told us “I don’t know, sorry”. Our server came back probably ten minutes later with my friends pitaya mimosa, and mentioned that she would “be right back with my orange juice.” Once she left, I asked my friend if I should clarify my drink order with her as that’s not what I ordered, so I flagged her down and told her that I ordered an original mimosa. Around 20 minutes later, my mimosa finally arrived. We had been sitting at SUR for approximately 45 minutes before we realized that we needed to take some sort of action, as tables seated way after us had been receiving food, and our server hadn’t asked us for our orders yet. I was cold, so I went inside to see if perhaps we could kindly move inside so I could be warm (and also get a new server). The hostess literally moved us in to a low table DIRECTLY in front of the door. At this point, I didn’t want to be high maintenance so I made the best of it. Nobody came to great us, we sat there with empty mimosa glasses and then Peter came over and asked “do you guys want to order food?” At this point, we had already decided to leave and eat somewhere else since we didn’t have four hours to set aside for brunch. He took our menus and left. After being shunned for another 15 minutes, my friend politely explained to the hostess that we would like the bill as we were a little upset about our experience there. She went to tell Peter, who failed to acknowledge our feelings about poor service and dropped our bills off as he walked by. Worst service ever. During our time at SUR, I also watched one of the men working behind the bar, Jeremy, nonchalantly spit into the bar sink. I would 10/10 recommend you to visit SUR if you want to be treated like you don’t matter. Everyone there, especially Peter, had a horrible better-than-you attitude. He is clearly letting his D list celebrity get to his head. Also, they had the VPR show playing on the large TV at the bar. Super tacky. Spend your money at an establishment that deserves it! I will be boycotting the show as I am so put off with our experience.

Wonderful atmosphere

Been to Sur several times for dinner and Birthdays wonderful service and the food was delish! Decorating was beautiful and loved Birthday candle spectacular

Perfect

Awesome experience! Exactly what you hope for. I would highly recommend if you are looking for the experience.

Excellent

By Suzie Foodie |

We were sat near a window on a cold evening in February and asked to move, which they did without hesitation. So we were sat in the main restaurant, served by Max, who was lovely. He explained the menu well, gave us time to peruse the menu, there's lots to choose from. I had the duck which was amazing, cooked perfectly. It's a busy restaurant but we weren't rushed and the service was excellent.

Decent Place

By Mike |

Went for dinner on a Tuesday night. Was greeted and seated right away. Table cloth was stained from previous diners. Avoided that seat at the table. Ordered drinks and then dinner. Salad came out with the dinner. Mozzarella was fresh but the tomatoes were not fresh. Steak tasted ok and the calamari was good. The dessert and Lisa V. being there made the night very good overall.

Large party of 16 celebrating Juris Doctorate conferral

By Megan R |

First and foremost the main reason we went here is because my husband and I are huge fans of Vanderpump Rules and he was graduating with his Juris Doctorate so I wanted to go somewhere he would love. We had a large party of 16 so I had to make the reservations way in advance, pay a deposit and have a fixed 3 course menu. Because of this I was disappointed that we had to wait for a bit to get our table in the Kimono room. I had 3 kids with me trying to find room to stand in the Bar/Lounge area waiting for our table, not ideal in my opinion. Not to mention the hostess was not the friendliest, in fact she had major attitude. Our server Stephanie was very nice and attentive and the food was good. She also brought out double sparklers to celebrate his conferral which was cool! I did not like our table setup. We had a party of 16 and one very loong table. Those of us at the end of the table near the window had a hard time getting out to go to the restroom (we had to squeeze to get through) etc because the table behind us was literally directly behind us with the backs of their chairs. Also made it difficult for the waitress to reach us and for conversations to be had at the table. Our table all enjoyed their food from Goat Cheese balls, Chicken steamed dumplings, skirt steak, salmon, blackberry cobbler and old fashioned chocolate cake. The service was good and the food came out in a timely fashion. My husband enjoyed the spicy margarita! We were hoping to see some of the cast from Vanderpump Rules however there were none to be seen. Later in the evening we did finally see Peter but that was it. We kept crossing our fingers that Lisa would show up. I was a bit disappointed that no management came to ask how we were doing, or how our meal was considering we were a party of 16 that had to pay a deposit to reserve and have a fixed menu. Not to mention our bill was quite substantial . All in all my husband got to eat at SUR which he had talked about wanting to do for a while. I am not sure if we would ever go back for a large party however.

Exceeded My expectations

By courtney w |

I was beyond excited to come to this restaurant as I’m a fan of the show. It far exceeded my expectations! The service itself was great- our waitress - PRESLEY- was attentive, personal and lovely! We had a great corner table and could do a lot of people watching! The highlight was of course seeing the cast around and seeing that they actually work there. The owner(not Lisa or Ken) came up to our table to ask if everything was okay which is a nice personal touch. I would say the two downsides are the food and the bathrooms. The bathrooms could use an upgrade, a little investment would go a long way. The food was pretty bad but we weren’t really there for the food so it didn’t bother us to much. We started with the calamari which was rubbery and basically what you could get at any chain restaurant. We had the chicken piccata with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The potatoes I’m fairly certain we’re instant. The chicken was stringy and dry and we could hardly eat it. The Brussels sprouts were good. The cocktails were great! The bar area turned into a club at night with a DJ and some performers standing on the bar. We stayed and danced for a while and had a great time!! This is a great spot for people watching, the drinks and an overall good time. If you’re going for the food I wouldn’t suggest it!

Very disappointed

By Amylfg |

Went for dinner on a Thursday night. We were a party of 6. We are very big fans of the show Vanderpump Rules. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the night overall. Our table was in the back room. Our table was a plastic rectangular table purchased from BJs or Costco with a table cloth over it. The same with the chairs with plastic outdoor chairs with cloths over it. We were so surprised that with Lisa Vanderpump, who appears to have so much attention to detail on the show, to provide such poor seating accommodations for their guests, it is plain shameful. In addition, the wood floors were very uneven and hard to walk over to our table. The decor in the back room was very undesirable and seemed to be thrown together as a make-shift room that is usually an outdoor patio during warmer weather. While the busboy was spot-on in terms of service, the waitress was inattentive and very misinformed about the different bar offerings. There are too many mishaps relating to our drinks to mention. We expected a whole lot more from an establishment and a restauranteur that portrays to expect so much from its staff. Also the bill included a 20% service charge and then a suggested tip on top of it, which was baffling. We met Peter from the show and he was very pleasant. However, with the shortcomings with our flimsy table, chairs, the waitress and the bill, we are SO disappointed and would never return.

Underwhelming

By Di |

Pleasant enough but not the best. Lasagne was good and my husband enjoyed the burger- desserts lovely. Disappointed not to have the VP rose wine and returned my Chardonnay. Not impressed my plate was cleared before my husband’s All in all found the service quite false Sorry such a poor review but we had come a long way

Very disappointed

By Jenny |

From England and visited SUR when in LA, as have watched Lisa Vanderpump on TV. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. Had soup to start which came with no bread, when I requested some I was told I have to purchase an entire breadbasket. I ordered their pasta special which was extremely salty I couldn't finish it. Ordered buratta which tastes tangy and gone off and was only given 2 slices instead of the usual full ball. Ordered lasagne which was watery and lacked flavour. Unfortunately the restaurant felt grubby and run down and in need of some love! Won't be returning

Insulted

By Amanda H |

I visited SUR three times during my visit to Los Angeles as I am a huge fan of the television show Vanderpump Rules. On my first visit I met Guillermo Zapata the part owner of the restaurant. I travel by myself, so on the first two visits I sat at the bar by myself and enjoyed three yummy Apple Martinis and some goats cheese balls. On my final visit of my holiday I had dinner reservations. I got there early to enjoy ‘Happy Hour’ and had 2 Apple Martinis and the goats cheese balls with 3 glasses of water before being seated for my dinner. When I got seated for dinner I ordered a glass of wine, then a member of staff came over and accused me of being ‘intoxicated’. I am actually disabled and walk with a limp and am a bit wobbly sometimes and I can not used my left arm or hand, I was far from being intoxicated. I was so shocked by their accusation I instantly got upset, it made me feel very embarrassed and humiliated in front of the table at the side of me who over heard everything. I have never been so insulted in all my life. After this incident I lost my appetite so I drank my glass if wine which they did give me after upsetting me and I left and went else where to enjoy my last night in Los Angeles. No matter how much I love the show I will not be returning.

A disappointing dining experience

By Mickey |

We ate here with friends because of this restaurant's high profile on TV and wanted to try it. The food was pretty average really nothing special. We tried several items and most of them were mediocre at best. This restaurant is a magnet for tourist like ourselves because of its high profile which makes for an interesting dining event. The service was lacking and just not very professional. All in all a disappointing dining experience were the food just didn't meet our expectations.

Restaurant or Funeral Parlor?

By jfm02719 |

Let's start by saying the decor is so confusing. Looks like a funeral for Barnabus Collins in the Dark Shadows' mansion. Lots of fake Gothic decor complimented by oversized flower displays backed by a disco beat. The food is mediocre at best and most of the "over dressed" crowd are young tourists hoping to catch a glimpse of Leeze, Ken, Giggi, or the cast of "Vanderpump Rules" most of which, thank God, are sleeping off a hangover elsehwere. Stop in and have a drink, take your photo, post to Instagram, then move on.

A deception

By Meander21443716157 |

It was a deception! The glamor that once was is gone, tables Scottish and crooked, where people left, chairs remained as they had been pushed away by customers, little lighting, no atmosphere (it used to be top as seen in the RHOB series), restaurant not kept up and not fresh! Food mediocre but all those disinterested employees are the worst, never to come back!

Valentine’s Day!

By natalie |

This is the worst restaurant I’ve ever been to! I waited 20 mins to be seated only then to be greeted by a moody head waitress. Ordered drinks at the table then no one knew who was serving us, waited half an hour for a drink. Was a complete joke from the get go. Waited nearly an hour for my starter, no one was pouring our champagne so I was doing it myself which I felt embarrassed about. I thought this place was fine dining, at the end we paid a fortune. Really feel let down by the ‘lisa Vanderpump’ experience and now I feel her name has been tarnished. Absolutely gutted! Lesson of advice... Lisa make sure your staff know what they’re doing and who’s in charge. Don’t let your customers wait nearly 2 hours for their main course!!!!

Vanderpump Rules...

By Biggerntexas |

Love the show. Planned to come to Sur for dinner & TomTom for drinks after.. For a Thursday night it was pretty slow. The tables are on top of each other so we could hear the other couples talking about the show. Our waiter was Max (Lisa’s son), Peter was there (manager) & Jame’s Kennedy came thru. Food was good, ambience is good, but the building/decor is pretty dated. Overall, met expectations.

Customer Service Sucks

By Tatiana C |

First of all, I was excited to go because I watched Vanderpump Rules. Lo and behold, this place is mediocre at best. Do not go here expecting great service because you won’t get it. The servers come around when they want to. It is basically overpriced apps. Would not come here again.

Didn't Live up to Expectation!

By delacourt |

We had booked a table, unfortunately it was not ready when we arrived so we were ushered to the back bar. We asked for a drinks menu and we were told by the bar man that there wasn’t one! Another bar man who appeared to be on a break wander off and found us a menu. We ordered a drink and stood around for about 20 mins before our table was ready. Our server was friendly. We ordered several dishes to share, this was fine except the table was quite small! The food was OK. I wouldn’t hurry back as I ate in better places and am sure there are better places I didn’t visit!

Some things should stay on TV

By SpaGirl87 |

Visited Sur as I am a massive Vanderpump Rules fan. Was sorely disappointed by this and Pump! Very run down and not the glamour the show would have you believe. Food was nice but the environment let it down. See the photo of the sofa repair as an example...

Fantastic

By cggs |

Being a big fan of all things Lisa Vanderpump we went to SUR tonight. When we arrived we were taken to a not very well placed table by the door girl. Not long after another girl asked if we were happy and I said not really so we were moved very quickly to a much nicer place. That was such a small part of the evening I have still given it a 5 star. Presley our server was lovely and looked after us really well. The food was fantastic. Fried Goats cheese balls and Big Prawns followed by Fillet Mignon and Crispy Chicken. Also one pudding BlackBerry cobbler which Husband couldn't fault. Peter the manager was there and was so patient with everyone including me asking for photos. Would we go back?. Absolutely. Chances are it won't happen as we live in Spain and leave Beverley Hills Thursday morning.

Salty

By Tanita M |

Waiter was great, very attentive. Food seriously let it down though. Both our mains were so salty they were inedible, peas undercooked & lamb had to be sent back for them to cut as it was that tough. Starters were great no issues. Atmosphere unfortunately because of the show it has turned it into a crazy over excited fans place to be, I was looking more for an upmarket meal than listening to a table of giddy girls. Unfortunately wouldn’t return.

Wonderful time

By Sherry A |

Our second visit and it was better than the first. We opted out of reservations for dinner and chose instead to sit at bar, have a few drinks, and try the famous goat cheese balls. We were not disappointed. Staff was extremely nice to us, even let us know Tom was coming in to bartend that night. Was super disappointed to not see James DJing on a Tuesday. Shame on you! (Reason for the 4 star review and not a 5.) Goat cheese balls were delicious, drinks were great, made by Tom himself. DJ was a bit boring, sorry. But staff was even kind enough to pose for pics. Thank you for a great night.

Mediocre food, fun bar scene

By Deena F |

Obviously came here because I am a huge fan of the show. The food was what I expected, just mediocre. I had prime rid and it was a nice piece of meat but barely seasoned. My friend had the risotto and it didn't look fully cooked. I will say the golden pear salad is delicious though!!! Also the drinks are awesome. strong and really delicious, so that's a plus! We went on a Friday night and the bar area was packed. Bartenders were fast and efficient and the DJ was excellent. Great for those who are fans of the show, but overall it's really average. Would I go back?....probably.

Nice cosy atmosphere

By Gail G |

We visited whilst staying in Los Angeles as we watch the show and we’re glad we did. It was a Tuesday evening and we booked online. We took an Uber for $25 and were very excited. Unfortunately, we were let down at the ‘welcome’ stage. Two girls were chatting at the front station and we said we had a reservation. They just looked at us, so we repeated it and gave our name. ‘Ok’ she says and leads us to a table - I’d have liked her to at least pretend to check the booking. We were given a nice table in a cosy dining room opposite the bar and ordered a cocktail which arrived promptly. After a few minutes a waitress came to take our food order - but we hadn’t been given menus....She was apologetic and said someone else should have given them to us. We were asked if we wanted to order drink in the meantime so ordered a bottle of wine. Would you like an appetiser with your wine? So yes we ordered starters. Five minutes later the starters arrive - while we’re still drinking our cocktails and haven’t got the wine yet. It all seemed so ad hoc that my husband had to ask the waitress not to rush us. We spent a lot of money on taxis and were almost on our way back to the hotel! All of that aside, the food was good - not mind blowing, but then nor was the price so we were happy with it. It was a romantic, cosy restaurant, and it was nice to recognise it from the show. Disappointing when you get the impression of high end service and that’s not what you receive. The toilet was disgusting and we always use that as a marker for how clean the establishment is (it was only 7pm)! I’d hate to see it on a weekend. Pictures are smoked salmon tapas, (my crabs cakes didn’t come out), lamb and fish.

Wonderful Cocktails and Food!

Really beautifully done a restaurant, oozes opulence. Being a big fan or Lisa V and VP rules it was definitely on my list of places to go during my visit to LA and We weren't disappointed. The cocktails were fresh and delicious too! Staff were fab!
