Good Korean restaurant

Went there with a few friends yesterday, great ambience, delicious food, excellent service, will be back again to try more dishes!

Decent place, nice staff but ok experience

By Sivan M |

We got the specials and we really enjoyed the unlimited sides and meat options they provided from the cold bar. Our food was really delayed and there seemed to be a lot of communication issues as we had multiple waiters. The meats and sides were really slow to come out and other tables were even served before us. The food was good, but we could’ve just had an unlucky experience. Prices are fairly decent for what you get too.

VERY Authentic Korean Style Restaurant

We were traveling through Dallas and wanted Asian food. We happened into this shopping mall and had several to choose from, but picked this one. Never having authentic Korean food before, we were a bit nervous about the exterior, but went in to try it out anyway. We were greeted by the hostess and seated in a booth. Our waitress spoke very little English, so it was a bit hard to communicate. However, their menu helped us out a lot. There were a lot of pictures of the food items and a great description of each one along with their associated #. We pointed, she repeated the number and we all smiled! It was all good. The delivery of the food was a bit odd. It took us quite A LONG time to get our food. It came out in bits and pieces. There were four in our party and we all ate at different times, during our hour or so stay. The management must have been made aware of that, since they came over, apologized and gave us a 10% off coupon to use when we paid and one for next time. We love trying new and authentic food places. We knew if the locals ate there it must be good. Our one daughter got an entree, which included 8 side dishes. We thought this was for all us, but asked one of the waiters who spoke English what it was and what each were. He was very helpful in explaining each item and that it only came with the entree. It was kinda fun having so many choices to taste from. We each ended up liking different side dishes. My favorite was the seaweed salad and the pickled garlic stems. Another side was made with Pollack fish---we agreed that was really good, too. Three of us ordered Bento boxes for our lunch. One was spicy chicken and the other two were shrimp. Kinda disappointed---have had Bento boxes before that were out of this world, these were just so/so. Other than the horrible mix up with our order and wait time, we had a GREAT experience there. It was really neat to try truly authentic Korean food.

Easy to miss this place. Search it out. Amazing!!

We were going out for the night. Didn't want to hit up the numerous chain restaurants in DFW. My buddy said lets hit up one of his favorite Korean joints. Sure why not. The place he normally goes was closed for renovation. We decided to try Sura. Frankly from the outside we expected 10 tables and decent food. This is the definition of don't judge a book by its cover. We went for the BBQ buffet. There wasnt a part that we didn't like. From the salad, traditional Korean side dishes to the 14 meats to choose from. It was all amazing. You are responsible for cooking all the meats yourself, so you can get as much or as little char as you want. Seriously. This is one of the tastiest meals I have ever had.

One of the few good Korean place in the area

I donot know who authentic Korean food is like but anytime I compare the korean food in other place this is what I compare with. The ambiance here is cozy and the food is good. Lunch prices are decent ranging from 9-15$ the dinner services gets a bit pricy but not ridiculously expensive. Do try their grill items if you are in the group.

All-You-Can-Eat Korean BBQ!!!

Have you ever tried Korean BBQ? Whether you have or haven't, you must get yourselves to SURA now. Trust me on this. I am a very big foodie, but I'm an even bigger Texan when it comes to meat. And endless meat? I had to check out for myself if it was true. OMG! It's all true. When you enter, it's very chill. You just pick an empty booth, tell your server what drinks you want, and then embark on your journey of meat heaven. It's just like any buffet where you go and pick out what foods you want except, it's all raw meat of different varieties (beef, pork, chicken, seafood). They have it all! After piling your plate, you come back to your table and by then, there should be a grill that's been turned on by your server that's built into the table in the center. Amazing. And you just grill away yourselves. Simple as that. Just like any buffet, you can go back for more meat a countless amount of times. No limitations whatsoever. If you ever get tired of meat, there's also veggies, rice, and other Korean side dishes that you can get to eat along with your meat. Now, before you get too full, always remember to save some room, because there's also a complimentary bean paste soup and some egg souffle looking dish in a hotpot that comes out too. For free. It's awesome. I believe for the amount of meat and food I'm actually eating, the price is extremely good. So, make sure to give this place a visit. It's the best Korean BBQ like none other I have seen before. It's my favorite! NOTE: The Korean Bistro is downstairs and SURA the Korean BBQ is upstairs. So take the stairs to your left when you enter the building to enjoy your meaty heaven. And wear your lazy pants, you WILL pig out to your heart's desires. =D

Worth the visit

There were about 15 people in our group, most of whom had never eaten Korean food before. We were in a separate room, which was nice. Everyone ordered different things (not the buffet) and really liked what they got. I had bibimbap (no meat) and it was excellent. Reminded me of the little bibimbap shop I like to frequent when I am in Seoul. The service was great and if I lived in Dallas I would definitely go to this restaurant again.

Great place to eat dinner or lunch. I have eaten lunch and dinner there several times. Food is always well presented and good. Great customer service and a awesome owner manager.

Handsdown the BEST Korean Restaurant!!

By luv2d1ne |

Just WOW! From the banchan (side dishes) and the entree...everything was so delicious. I ended up eating all the side dishes and not finishing my dinner. The portion was generous...you will not be asking for more even if you want to. They served sweet cinnamon ginger tea as they give you the bill. Love it!! Will be back!!!

Good value for lunch

By Tienne2001 |

I was going around Royal lane to get a decent Korean food for lunch. We ended up in the Ko-mart area and saw a big ads about lunch at Sura Bistro for $6.99. That's considered cheap as usually average starting price for lunch in Korea resto around $9.99. So I would like to try this bargain. Once we entered the bistro, we were being asked if we would like to have barbeque or just regular lunch. We chose the 2nd one. We ever tried the barbeque but it did not leave any memorable review for us, so we skipped this. The first floor room is for the lunch. There are half room filled in with native Korean people at 1:30 PM (it's a good sign if a lot of natives eating here). The room has simple nice décor. The ajumma brought the menu and my eyes were drooling over at least 15 lunch menu at $6.99. We're hungry so we ordered three dishes for two of us. We ordered Bulgolgy lunch box, fried mackerel and soy pasted soup (these combination is not part of lunch special - it's $9.99) and tuppoki. The bulgolgy is quite good. The meat is enough in quantity. The tuppoki is good, too. The fish and soy soup are quite salty. They gave us also 6 plates side dishes which are good but most of them are salty. The kimchi is OK. Also they had some salads which we could get it ourselves (We did not try, though...as we ordered a lot already). For $6.99, in my opinion this is a good resto for lunch. It's a good value meals.

Love the Korean bbq. Very friendly stuff.

If you need some Korean barbecue in reasonable price this is the place to be. They are very friendly and the food is awesome.

Great buffet

By MrLeopold |

This is excellent Korean bbq, probably the best I've had outside of Seoul. I was amazed an all you can eat set up had such high quality food. Prices are reasonable. Most of the patrons are Korean which is a testimony to the authenticity of the food. I will be back many times. What a gem!

Great Traditional Koren Experience

By Funtraveler2014 |

This restaurant is a little hard to find because it is in a back corner of a Korean Plaza. Once I arrived, I quickly found out that these guys know what they are doing. I was immediately greeted and seated in a pretty large clean sitting area. While not very quiet, there were oldies playing and lots of korean in the background. They served seven larger portions of Korean vegetables plus a bowl of miso soup. The Hite beer was served with a cold glass. A quick look around and see most of the patrons are koreans speaking Korean. Yes, this is the real deal. Also, the waiters were efficient and hospitable. I can recommend the Bimbimbop, and the korean vegetables. If you are seeking an authentic, traditional Korean experience, put this one on your shortlist.

Better than the rest

in old koreatown it can be difficult to gauge a restaurant from the old signs to the dusty air. sura is great because the food is true and tasty and the prices cant be beat

Fantastic food!

By David C |

This place is amazing! Very large restaurant with a great menu. The food always taste fresh. The fish is always delightful. What we like the most is that each dish has a very distinct flavor and rich aromas. It is the perfect place to order several dishes and share. Very well priced for such great quality! Highly recommended.

yummy korean food on the budget

Very good option for lunch, good value and very tasty food. The bistro was full, almost all Asian customers, a good sign for sure! We order 4 different dishes and everything was very good. We will be back next time we visit Dallas.

Amazing Hospitality

When we came in the door Mike made us feel welcome. He helped us through the menu. The food was great. The ribs were outstanding.

Authentic and delicious!

By 286vikkis |

Downstairs menu, upstairs BBQ buffet. We stayed downstairs and got a delightful traditional Korean meal with all the veggie dishes, complimentary glass of hot tea before and little cups of cinnamon tea afterwards. Mostly Korean patrons - always a good sign - and they were kind and welcoming to us European-Americans who did not know their tea cups from their sake cups! Generous portions, enough left over for another meal, and they even offered refills on the veggie dishes that we finished. We will be back and next time I'm going to splurge and try the ginseng wine.

A stellar all you can eat RAMPAGE at a great value.

By CaptainYowza |

It's rare that I'm so moved by a restaurant that I review it the same day. My party of two ate at Sura Sunday evening, 4/13, and it was stellar. We were heartbroken when our favorite Korean eatery, Koryo Kalbi, closed and then returned with a very different theme and menu. I'm sure their current offerings are just fine, but all the dishes we loved from their huge, fascinating menu are gone. So, we set out to find a new favorite. I've never eaten a bad Korean meal, so this proved to be quite a fine adventure, as Royal Koreatown is packed with good food and service that tends to be acceptable or better. For years occasionally shopping at Komart, I eyed Sura, but we never made it there until today. Canvassing the area online for a new place to try, I checked them out after dismissing many other choices and was stricken by their AYCE menu. What a tantalizing concept with all those choices. How did I overlook Sura for so long? I mean, we've eaten at the neighboring fried chicken place several times. Silly me. We were immediately greeted graciously by a kind gentleman I assume is the proprietor. Upstairs we went to an AYCE rampage. Everything, right down to the condiments, was stellar. The sesame oil was a nice touch. Banchan was quite good. Our server Kevin was distinctly friendly and effective. I don't think any empty plate sat on our table for more than 3 minutes. He watches over that dining room like an eagle. For what we enjoyed, the bill was almost embarrassingly scant. I've paid twice as much for half the pleasure many times. On the way out, I had a quick chat with the proprietors and they simply radiate humble good will, appreciation, and grace. These are the exact types of fundamentally fine people I enjoy giving money to. I've been chasing great food around the world for many years. As shabbily-dressed rock and roll white people, the quality of service we've received in our adventures has...well, let's just say "varied." Here, we were treated like family. Among all that great food we've enjoyed over the years, I can't think of a meal I've enjoyed more than our Sura experience. It now stands tall on a list of the best 15 or so places ever we've beheld. Thank you, Sura. See y'all next time. It shan't be long from now, methinks.

Great Lunch

My wife and I lived in South Korea for a to year. We grew to love the Korean cuisine, and have longed to experience those flavors again. This restaurant brought back many of those memories. Great service, and authentic food, well done.

The BEST Korean style BBQ in town

By Viv G |

This place is where I go to for friend or co-worker gathering. They offer all you can eat on second floor with a variety of traditional Korean food.

Terrific Service and Great Food

By Julie A |

I live about 3 hours drive from Dallas, don't get into town much. Went to Homart to get groceries, wanted lunch and Sura was right there! We will be back whenever we come to town. Very clean. THE BEST service, we were well cared for in every way. I had Bibimbop and server mixed it and prepared for me. Husband had chicken terriyaki and loved it. Plus soup and there were 10 delicious side dishes and they asked if we wanted refills! The only recommendation is that the lighting was a bright white - a bit stark - but nothing else could have been improved. The place was packed at lunch, many looked Korean, I always like to eat where people from that culture eat, for me it endorses authenticity of the cuisine.

One of my favorite spots

By lifeaswanderlust |

I usually only visit Dallas for business trips and this is one of my favorite spots to go to on my team. All you can eat Korean BBQ, and I love their fried rice. They also offer some American faves (like nuggets and fries) for the kiddos who are picky. This is a cool experience that I recommend. Make sure you know how to cook your meat just right and you'll be fine.
