Good Thai - reasonable prices

By Mrluthor |

Another Virginia Highland eatery that I've been going to for years. The menu does include lunch specials and I would recommend the Chicken Massaman. I usually get an order of their basil spring rolls as well. The portions are just about right and very tasty. I've tried a few of their other dishes as well, but favor the massaman dish. Service is always prompt. Strongly recommend for lunch.

Delicious Thai food

By janiceh |

I got takeout. Highly recommend the chicken larb appetizer, the squid salad. Best entrees are the red curry duck and the kha proud lamb.

Changes but still great

By Cynthia321 |

Surnin is my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. When we came out on Mother's Day, I noticed some changes from what I remember. Gone are the cloth napkins and elegant looking menu. The menu itself still seems to be the same, just not fancy looking. But the important part is that the food is excellent. Our waiter was very friendly and competent and I got some complimentary ice cream for Mother's Day. I got the Basil Chicken and my husband got the Cashew Pork and we started out with the Nuer Nom Tok made with beef tenderloin. YUM!

Outstanding Thai restaurant

By zteamtwo |

Have visited Thailand and eaten at many Thai restaurants around the world and this is in the top 3. The chicken coconut soup is the best I have ever had. All of the stir fries are excellent and the sweet and sour chicken is great. This restaurant is not far from downtown Atlanta and Georgia Tech area. Most of the entrees are less than $11. You will not be able to get a quality meal in Atlanta for anywhere near that price.

Make it a point if you like Thai

By SJ S |

Everytime I visit Atlanta, I eat at Surin of Thailand. This goes back years. And the food and service has always been consistantly good. I ordered the coconut soup and the small serving was large enough for three people! Great value. The Basil Salmon was tender and delicious. My friends ordered the duck curry and vegeterian musuman and were both very pleased. The restaurant is easy to find (a direct shot from downtown via Highland Ave NE) and has limited parking in the back. Street parking requires paying the meter: twenty-five cents buys you 8 minutes. Cozy decor makes it a comfortable place to dine. Weekends are crowded with benches outside for waiting. See you there next time I visit!

Good!

By Squirrel101 |

It was really good Thai food...pretty nondescript so nothing else really to say about it.

Great Date Night

By atlbride09 |

My husband I go to the restaurant pretty regularly. It's the best and affordable Thai food in the city. Love the Highlands too! The scene is a very trendy one.

Excellent Food and Service

By Len |

Has a great meal with excellent service ... we had the Spring rolls and Chicken larb for apps. and then Noodles of the Drunk with Tofu , Vegetables in Ginger and Tofu and the Salmon with a curry sauce ....

Great for carry out. Wonderful curry!

By mpmeara |

Had the opportunity to be here on evening. Really enjoyed the food despite it just being carryout. Would definitely return given the opportunity.

Our favorite Thai restaurant

Dinner and a Show II

By rickpen1 |

One of our recent visits included a street show: a charity Zombie Pub Crawl. (The zombies did not visit Surin, they just staggered by) It was a hoot to watch and was pretty entertaining. Last Saturday it was another pub crawl of some sort,(sorry, I do not know what the charity was or I'd be glad to promote it) This show was not quite as entertaining as the zombies, but it was still fun. There were some real characters wandering around. The Crawlers, like the Zombies, did not come into Sarin. Maybe they weren't hungry. NOTE: I can't promise that you will get a free show. Meanwhile, back at the Review.....The food is great and the prices are reasonable. On this visit my girlfriend ordered the appetizer platter. I have no idea what it was, but it was great! She loves the soft shell crab. One small criticism: The place is pretty loud, even when not particularly crowded. I think it's the acoustics. The surfaces are all hard and reflect the sound. The noisier it gets, the louder you have to talk. The louder you talk, the noisier it gets, etc.

So wonderful

By Flirtallya123 |

If you like good service and authentic Thai food you are in for a treat. OMG there dishes come with a soup, coconut, lemongrass, spices. It makes your toes curl it's so yummy! The food really is superb and the prices are so reasonable. Only problem is parking can be a challenge but don't let this stop you. You really must give it a try.

yummy

By LynnCEllis |

This place is always tasty. I enjoy going during lunch. They are fast and the food is always to my liking.

Parking is $2/hour until 10:PM

By Aikenfans |

The food we had here seemed mediocre, bland and overly-salty. The service was not good. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our check, while our server was sitting in a back room, and we had to go outside to feed the meter. We prefer Bangkok Station on Pharr Road, which we think has better food, atmosphere and service, and no charge for parking.

Excellent Thai Food in the Aged Decor Setting

By M W U |

This is type and quality of the food you get when you travel to Thailand. Typical Thai taste, spicy and tasty. Lunch specials come with a complementary cup of thai soup. Roster duck (on the picture) in spicy curry was excellent. The decor leave much to be desired, but excellent food overwrites the settings. Worth visiting.

Great Thai!

By Cadi C |

Nice atmosphere, great food, great prices and great service. Pretty much all you can look for in a restaurant. And it has a foot in the posh side.

Thai

By Anupam G |

Authentic Thai - Menu is very much geared toward meat eaters. Staff is polite. A little pricey for a family of 4 . Food is good

Mediocre at Best

By Sandraga |

Had dinner there last night, 3/21. Shrimp Coconut Soup: Coconut water, sugar, shrimp and fresh mushrooms in hot pot, mild flavor, not special, temp. warm and fire in hot pot died quickly. Chicken Satay: dry, tasted like processed chicken. Wing of Angel: Have you ever had batter-dipped chicken that was refried? Very oily, no flavor. Shu She Salmon: Dry, veggies fresh, but too much sauce. Shrimp Thai Noodle: Too much sugar. All in all, too much sugar, temp. on all dishes, except wings, warm not hot, very little flavor. Would have sent the wings back, but did not want to make a fuss since it was my friend's birthday. Great location. Service: waiter nice, but he did forgot our wings stating that HE thought it was "too much food." Not his decision to make! My friend had never had Thai and I wanted him to sample several different dishes and have enough to take for lunch next day. Needless to say, my friend did not. He was very polite, but did not finish all his food. Waiter was apologetic and I left $10.00 tip on $52.00 bill because he was the waiter, not the cook. Will not return! I have had Thai in LA and San Francisco and have had better from the small, stand-in-line, mom/pop restaurants than here.

Best Thai food

By LP_designer |

Several at my table enjoyed the classic yellow curry made with chunks of chicken and potatoes. Service was fast. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced.

Fantastic Meal in VaHi

By Cindy P |

Meal eith daughters, recommend, Thai BBQ chicken, curry shrimp, garlic shrimp and larb! Marissa, our server was very attentive and helpful!

Thai is fantastic

By Lisa G |

Everything... Beef salad is phenominal and everything else weve had is excellent.. Service is top notch also!!

Loud room, but good food.

By javaheidi |

I was there on a Friday night, boy was it loud! I had the Basil Spring rolls..yum. Very heavy on the basil. The Massaman curry with shrimp was wonderful, but a little expensive ($20).

Good

By Kacey75 |

Been here a couple times. Good thai tea, pad thai is a bit too spicy and the restaurant is a little too dark but overall a nice casual place.

Best Thai in Atlanta

By UntilTomorrow |

Best thai food you will eat in Atlanta, by far. Their curries, coconut soup, and duck are amazing. Would recommend anyone visiting Atlanta to check this place out. You'll feel like you're actually in Thailand.

Excellent food at very good price

By Willie_G20 |

Place is small but atmosphere is great. Weekends are crowded but worth waiting. I like the curry duck and the coconut soup.

Love this place!

By Lizweigan |

I frequent this restaurant and take all my visitors and friends here. Never disappoints! Food is consistently tasty as well as the service. Wil always be a regular!

Not Remotely the Best Thai I have had

By JJS3 |

We love Thai food. I did not know this place, but seemed like everything else was closed SuperBowel night so we gave it a try. My son-in-law had the duck and could not even eat half of it because of how greasy it was. I had vegtables and shrimp and it was among the most bland taste of any asian food I have ever tried. My wife and daughter both gave up their meal also because there was no taste. Maybe the normal cook was watching the game somewhere else??

Good Thai food!

By jerman00 |

Had a nice dinner for 6 persons. Enjoyed our appetizers of Calamari and Angel Crab. Main dishes such as Chicken Panang, Duck Wellington and Spicy noodles were rated very good. My dish was supposed to be spicy (had 3 jalapeños rating) but I thought it barely registered any heat. Also, one order was made incorrectly by the kitchen. This was fixed but the server made it seem this was a common occurrence. Overall, a good experience, but at the price, probably not a return trip in the future.

Best Thai food in Atlanta

By Elizabeth B |

Always friendly & fast service. The food is always delicious, especially the chicken panang & chicken coconut soup! Great ambience & prices!

Always excellent!

By justjulie63 |

Truly the best Thai food I've had. And that includes a recent three week trip in Thailand. I always have enough to bring home leftovers. They are kind enough to add and subtract ingredients each time I ask. Great service, great food!

Consistently wonderful

By rollingpeach1010 |

Every trip to Atlanta includes a dinner at Surin in Virginia-Highlands. It can get noisy with the close by tables on a busy night, but go a bit early and it's fine. Can a Thai restaurant make good pad thai? That should be a no-brainer, but often proves more or challenge than it should at some Thai places. Not so with Surin. It's perfect every time. Soft shell crab is a favorite as is the lamb. But start with the larb or nam sod and you won't go wrong. The servers are attentive and the prices are very reasonable

Great Thai Food

By bham813 |

I have always enjoyed Surin. the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. It is also in one of my favorite neighborhoods, Virginia Highlands.

Fabulous Fare

By Frances S |

Experenced excellent food and service. The restaurant was very noisy when we arrived but it became quieter after awhile. The food was very tasty, well seasoned, The serving sizes were more than enough. Appetizer was large enough to share.

Very good Thai Food

By PapaDisc |

Surin has a trendy decor, which normally doesn't add to the value of a meal for me, but the food is very good and the wait staff top notch. Not only is the food very good, but the menu has a larger variety of dishes than most of the Thai restaurants I've been to. You can visit frequently and eat great dishes without getting tired of eating the same favorite dish. We were there on this visit for lunch. The Kao Mok-Kai was very nice. The chicken breast was moist and had a good flavor all the way through, not dry in the middle, and the portion was large. The Spicy Beef Salad was good. It wasn't quite tigers tears or nom tok (both of which are also on the menu) as it didn't have the lime juice but the grilled flavor of the beef was great and they also made it spicy enough for my tastes. Many restaurants are hesitant to make it as spicy as I like, but Surin hit it. We also had the Fancy Thai Sausage, the Pad Prik Pork and the Surin Baskets. All delicious. Surin is one of my favorite restaurants. I try to eat there whenever I visit Atlanta and plan to continue visiting in the future.

Favorite Thai place in ATL

By sunkissed1908 |

I drive 20 minute and pass over 5 thai restaurants just to dine here. Love the Virginia Highlands area. The food never ever disappoints. I have been here too many times to count and the service, food, and drinks are always consistent.

Delish

By Alexterrg |

Food is delicious and the prices are affordable... if coming with a large party see if they take reservations...

My Neighborhood Thia

By Tom T |

Great Value and service. Martinies are to the rim and the nam sod is the bomb.

Thankful Thai

By D S |

This is a great spot for really tasty Thai dishes. The service was great too. Surin is top of the charts for flavorful food! Due to the location parking may be a challenge on a busy day.

Great Lunch!

By YBS46 |

They have a great menu with great prices. I've been many times for lunch and I've never been disappointed. Please try the roasted duck with red curry. Very good! Always very crowded. Street parking.

Loud atmosphere but tasty food

By MissBetsy |

The calamari salad and shrimp green curry are excellent! Very nice wine selection. Seating is a bit tight and the decibel level is very high; they need to install some sound barriers!

Thai food done right!

By Cedrick T |

This place is wonderful. The ambiance is beautiful and the upbeat contemporary music adds to the sleek and sexy feel. The food is delicious and the bar is amazing!

We’ve lived two blocks away for over 40 years

By Kkatz1 |

We’ve lived two blocks away for over 40 years and remember when the building here Surin was used to be the Blue Nile, an Ethiopian resturant. It most recent visit was for take out on 5/29/21. Such a disappointment for two shrimp coconut soup, six basil rolls and an order of Masman curried chicken for $60. The basil rolls were ok, not like previous visits. The shrimp coconut soup was thin and insipid (my wife made some better a month ago) and the Masman was dull. Surin used to be great. I would pop in for a lunch of soup and basil rolls. No more. Guess we’ll have to drive to find a good Thai restaurant.

Solid Thai. Consistently Good

By R&G-Opine |

There is a reason Surin has been in business so long. They consistently deliveron the promise of making you delicious Thai food at a reasonable price. The location cannot be beat, and the ambiance has always been superb. We get pick up more than dine in, but either way, Surin is always on top of our Thai lists.

Try the Coconut Ice Cream

By kdragnfli |

My favorite for Thai in all of Atlanta. I have loved everything on the menu. Make sure to try the Surin Baskets and have the coconut ice cream for dessert.

Craved it while pregnant!

By Sara M |

Surin is located on the Highland strip and is yummy! The owner does fabulous arrangements, the bartender is great and the food is craveable!

Excellent

By planetjim |

This is an excellent restaurant in a very funky neighborhood in Atlanta. Over the years we have been here many times. The food is authentic and excellent, service is great. The location in Virginia Highlands is really cool. Quite an interesting group of characters pass by.

Excellent food!

By Elliott |

I've had the Pad Thai and Masaman Curry there and they're both amazing. If you're looking for a small/light appetizer, the Surin baskets are really good too, and they won't fill you up before the meal. Highly recommended!

Great Thai food

By Barry H |

The food and service was excellent and fast. The tables are closer than I preferred; therefore, it was very noisy

As good as I remembered

By Meemee2818 |

I lived in Atlanta twenty years ago, and Surin of Thailand was my favorite restaurant. On this recent visit, I had to take my mother and daughter. The food is still delicious, and the service was wonderful. I enjoyed the fresh ginger martini and the spring rolls!

My Favorite Thai Restaurant EVER

By staleybaby09 |

This place is my favorite hands down! I always get the spicy shrimp Salad (2 pepper) and spicy papaya salad all the way hot. If it's just a few of you and Joey is the bartender you are in great hands is you like to drink. I swear he makes sone mean drinks that sneak up on you. I have been coming here for 8 years now. Food has never wavered in taste or quality. The only reason I didn't give them 5 starts is because parking sucks in this area. I normally have to park in the lot to the left of the building.

Thai done right!

By Sheree W |

Great place to meet friends for an excellent meal. Eating light? Try the Spicy Tilapia with steamed veggies. Fish had a hint of heat but lots of flavor.

Great Thai Food

By volguy |

Great Thai restaurant in the heart of Virginia Highlands. We had the red curry pot stickers to start. The red curry sauce is just phenomenal. Rich creamy with a little heat. The Thai BBQ Chicken is fall off the bone good and the spicy noodles were a great dinner option. Friendly staff although the bar was a little slow (appetizer out about 5 minutes before our drinks after being ordered about 10 minutes).

Beautiful, Delicious Plentiful and Cheap

By actoreye |

I finally went to Surin of Thailand in the Va-HI section of town. The place was packed but I got a seat immediately. The menu was very easy to read and the pictures were accurate. I ordered a salad and an entree and was almost embarrassed by the quantity of food laid out before me. Of course, I had plenty to take home. Their price point is less than other Thai restaurants and their selection greater. I wanted something a little spicier than I normally get and the result was on point. Beautiful presentation including orchids. Very prompt service in spite of the crowd. I give them an A+++++

Great Thai

By Richie248 |

One of my go-to restaurants for Thai food. They have the best Pad See Ew south of NYC. Service is pleasant as well. Only complaint is the wine list, very limited, but who goes to a Thai restaurant for wine, right?

One of the best Thai spots in Atlanta

By Sky G |

I have been going to Surin's for a few years and this restaurant never disappoints. Myself and a few friends went last night and everyone enjoyed their food. I order the Surin Baskets which come in little almost corn torilla baskets with ground chicken, shrimp and delectable spices. There is a side of honey peanut cucumber sauce that takes this dish over the top. I decided to try something different this visit and ordered the spicy papaya salad. This was one of the best salads I've experienced. I am a hot and cold fanatic. The papaya salad comes with a side order of sticky rice. This was the perfect accompaniment. One friend ordered the barQ chicken and the chicken was so moist and flavorful. I am already thinking about my next visit.

I'd go back!

By CJN |

Went here Saturday night with friends who have raved about the place. The food definitely did not disappoint; everything was very good. Not many downsides except the service was spotty. Our waitress seemed to have forgotten about us at times. Also, the acoustics are perfectly designed to amplify noise. At times, I was yelling at the person next to me to be heard. Good luck fixing that.

The best in Atlanta ! YUMMY

By Roxanne E |

The catfish and the bar b Que chicken and lemon drop martini's and also the hot Browne and service is the best all at all times...

Quick date night

By jayep1908 |

This is in the Virginia Highlands area which gives me a young, hipster vibe in my opinion. The restaurant is quaint and offers good Thai options. The BBQ chicken, which is popular, was average and kind of dry. I've been to this restaurant in other cities so they are consistently good. There are bars in the area so it's a good area for a date.

Very good & good prices

By Tamara W |

We had the hot & sour soup for two, which was delicious and presented in a flaming bowl. Then we waited far too long (~25 minutes) for our entree, which was the shrimp curry. The curry was a pale green and very creamy due to the amount of coconut milk -- very good but not what I'm used to. The restaurant was noisy on a Friday night, not a place to bring kids. The Trip Advisor app said it was 2.1 miles from the Hyatt Regency, but it was quite a bit farther - a $12 cab fare with tip each way. Overall, very good Thai at good prices with fair service. Enjoy!

good service, almost inedible food

By winewimp |

I don't get it. Usually reviews bear some resemblance to reality and the positive ones here look genuine. But this was one of the worst meals of my restaurant eating life, probably bottom 4, down there with "Thai one on" years ago, and another bad asian place in Berkeley in about 1992. Years ago I thought of this as a good Thai restaurant, but this meal was old and tired. Simple ingredients too, chicken with peanut sauce, hard to get wrong unless you just serve the same chicken that has sat in the house for weeks and use old peanut butter that tastes like cardboard. Trust me, if you like Cakes and Ale, or Miller's Union, don't even consider eating here. It was crowded and noisy too. Maybe people eat here because of the very low price, or maybe they just drink, but if you can't stomach it, it is still a waste of money.

Great food great service

By Phillip J |

We ordered the seafood soup and these little tasty appetizers that were amazing. The layout of the restaurant gives you privacy even though it is a small layout. The food was hot and tasty, the service was spot on. One thing that was really great is when you pay $5 for parking the restaurant takes it off your bill

I keep coming back for the excellent sauces

By aperry932 |

I consistently come back to this restaurant based on the quality of the food. The sauces for dishes like Spicy Thai Basil or Pad Prik are excellent and worthy of dumping some more rice in your plate just to make sure you soak up every last drop. I wish they had a traditional Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) on the menu, but the Spicy Spaghetti is a worthy substitute. The "egg rolls" on the menu are actually spring rolls. The room is fairly noisy. But I can easily overlook these things as soon the server puts a plate of Thai goodness down in front of me. They don't take reservations here, so allow for that on a busy Saturday night.

Simply The Best

By Zmonsta |

Fantastic food. Great flavor, great service. Some of the best Thai food ever. You won't be disappointed

Great food and reasonable

By LesleyD_16 |

I had the pad thai with shrimp and it was outstanding. This is a great place for a casual dinner and the neighborhood has charm. I found the parking meters to be not easy. I think the secret is to use the meter in the section of the street where you park.

Great Cocktails

By keedat |

Love this place! All of the Martinis are delicious! The food is good and if you sit at the bar you will be greeted by the best barmates! Also, great for dates or family gatherings!

Delicous and Trendy

By bluepill1 |

The Surin Baskets are to die for. I could eat a few plates of those. Been coming here for years on and off. The service is wonderful and everything on the menue is delicous.

Chill vibe, flavorful food

By Gabriela M |

Consistently excellent. No matter when you go, what time of day, or what day of the week, your meal will be made exquisitely and the best quality. They have authentic Thai cuisine and there is no throwaway dish -- even the simplest salad is perfectly made. The restaurant is large and fits many guests so you'll almost never be waiting for a table, even when the restaurant is full. Mostly street parking. Great service, full bar with fancy drinks and beers. Not super awesome for a nice date (not very romantic ambiance), but rather casual. Great for a large group of friends, or a simple evening meal with loved ones. No fancy facade or kitchy "exoticism" just good quality, tasty food that will keep you coming back whenever you crave thai fare that is both affordable and full of flavor.

Lambchops

By EyeObserve |

good lambchops and fried rice. great service. parking is almost always paid as very little free street parking and this is a high traffic area.

Not like i remembered it...and they got the order wrong

By WayneHalper |

I used to love coming here on my trips to atlanta. Been 7 years since last visit and it is showing its age decor and food wise. Staff not very understanding about my order even though i pointed it out. Very unhappy with how the place seems to just phone it in

Dinner with friends after church

By Charlene S |

Lovely meal, service was excellent. There were 4 of us, two had catfish with ginger, one had duck and one had steak, we all loved our meals, brown rice was cooked to perfection. The sauces are delightful, not overwhelming. The coconut soup as a starter sets the stage for the delights to come. I love the Thai tea as well.

Midtown Thai Taste

By JakH88 |

Great place for Thai foods. Fast services, good foods at reasonable price. Full bar with special drinks.

Excellent Thai. Relaxed but elegant

By Randall O |

Surin is a very nice location in the Virginia Highlands. I have always had excellent food there and it compares favorably to what I had in Malaysia, Hong Kong or Singapore. The dining room is very nice but the atmosphere is relaxed, as you would expect in this part of town. The service is always good whether you have 2 people or a party of 12. The staff is very good about explaining the menu to new customers and you will never see an empty water glass.

Always great food!

By kurokitty |

We've been coming here for years and always have enjoyed the great food and service. This time around we started with fresh basil rolls, which I think are the best of any that I've had recently in the city. We also tried the Thai noodles with chicken and the ginger chicken. Both were really tasty!

Cat Fish Thai Style

By esme49 |

Just met family for lunch this was our first visit here and I must say my husband beat me on the food choice. I ordered the Thai noodles with shrimp but my husband had Thai catfish and oh it was to die for. Of course I ended up eating out of his plate. The catfish was lightly fried with a ginger sauce on it. On our next visit I will be ordering Thai Cat fish. Another family had the BBQ chicken the only thing left on his plate was the chicken bones. We will be visiting this restaurant again. FYI we ordered from lunch menu good prices.

quick delicious dinner

By lonilew |

great food, friendly service. Our server was quick and polite. The food was hot and delicious, I ate a recommendation from the server and was very satisfied. It was crowded but everyone was happy and the service was great

Good food with good value!

By TonifromOhio |

Good food with great value. My family and I ate here for lunch. Our lunch's were $7.00 which is excellent for the amount of good food you get. I ordered the Thai noodle which comes with their yummy coconut curry soup! excellent food, good environment, good location. I would strongly recommend this place if you love thai food and is on a budget. Our bill came to $34.00 which included 3 lunch specials, one appetizer and two thai teas-excellent value for excellent food!!

If the food in Thailand really tastes this good I'm booking my ticket tonight! Yummmm

By Jeunep |

Its hard to decide what to rave about first so I'll start with my favorite part..... The food! The food is excellent, EVERTHING from the spicy Papya salad, to chicken sate, and spring rolls. The spicy noodles are to die for and the shrimp and brocollli is delicious. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Atlanta. It's also located in a great neighborhood. The ambience is really nice and the staff is friendly. Love it!!

Surprised and going back!

By Joe S |

I must add Surin to the list of my favorite Thai Restaurants in town. I visited Surin while showing Atlanta to some friends. We ordered four different plate and four appetizers to share. Everything was fresh and delicious. The breading on the crispy calamari is fluffy and crispy, not a thick heavy crust. The pot stickers are served with a nice mild red curry sauce heavy on coconut milk that presents a wide range of intermixed flavors that makes it extremely interesting. We also tried out their spring rolls and crab cheese cakes, both light and fresh. Dinner was incredible: flavorful lamb chops (a little too small and thin for my taste and they come with a nice serving of shrimp fried rice), interesting snapper on a vinegar/pineapple base sauce, incredibly presented and prepared Basil Duck with two sauces in the side (sweet soy sauce and peanut sauce). The fourth plate was Shrimp Fried Rice. This rice was sweet and light on salt and heavy spices allowing for the real rice taste to shine through. Plenty of decent sized shrimps and enough to feed two people. To summarize: We cleaned every single plate and cleared the table! The prices are reasonable and our server was excellent. We are going back.

Excellent Thai

By tkatl76 |

This is by far my favorite location in this regional chain. Food is fresh and quite tasty. Service was prompt and the restaurant clean.

Been coming here for years

By Joe L |

My wife and I have been coming here for years and while it has changed over time, the food is still very good. Visiting last week in the new COVID guidelines era, we still had a. Dry good meal in the spaced out dining room. We began with egg rolls and dim sum apps along with a few diet cokes. Both apps were very tasty. We both then ordered the fried rice combo entrees and enjoyed our dinner with plenty left over for lunch the next day. Surin was very busy this Thursday evening with delivery and pickup business with plenty of traffic in and out the door. This place is always a favorite for our Thai food fix.

My Fav Thai in Atlanta

By imahoosier |

My GF takes me here when im in town. Awesome place, check it out. Get the dumplings, spicy seafood mix, thai barbq chicken. Thats what we get every time.

We LOVE this place!

By rickpen1 |

This place has almost become our regular hangout. We have eaten there 5-6 times in the last 60 days and we have never been disappointed. The food is always great and the servers are top-notch. If you don't like Thai food, no problem, there are many other items to choose from. On the non-Thai side, I like the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the Beef Fried Rice. Give it a try, you'll love it.

A very good meal

By AJB19712014 |

I dined at this restaurant on a business trip to Atlanta. The Duck with curry sauce was outstanding. The meal came with a small bowl of soup of mushrooms in coconut milk. It also was very, very good. I would eat here again!

Thai done right

By BethMorrison6 |

First visit Phillip and let him make you one of his famous martinis. Then I recommend the Surin baskets. From there you can't go wrong. No matter if you're dining alone or in a group you'll love Surin!

Really good Thai food and an excellent martini.

By FilipoBambini |

We eat here all the time when we're in Atlanta. We love Thai food and this never disappoints. The duck is fantastic. Try the nam sod.

Very good Thai food at reasonable prices

By drastler |

We had a very nice dinner; large plates can be shared for family style eating Friendly service and very reasonable prices make it good for families

Great Thai Food Find

By Forrest H |

Any time we are in a new city we try and find two things, Thai and Indian food.. we found both in Atlanta and this Thai place was just enough off the beaten path that parking was easy (in front of the restaurant in fact) but we did have to pay a meter. The fresh basil rolls were beyond perfect and the soup for two had a great taste and not to spicy. We both had main dishes and I had the yellow curry with chicken. Excellent taste for all dishes. If you love Thai then if in Atlanta this is a must do. A tad pricey for fresh rolls, soup for two and two entrees with tax at about $50 (including a 20% tip I added) but the food and service was GREAT.

Great food, but a bit crowded.

By Halfwhit |

Love the food. Not sure why they don't do more family style. Just what I am used to. I love to eat noodle, curries and rices all together and share with family. Food was great! Tables are very crowded. Almost a fire hazard. But worth it!

Tasty thai food in the Highlands

By 23222Lisa |

Dependable thai restaurant. It can get pretty crowded on the weekends so it's good to know they take reservations too.

Delicious, Highly Consistent

Surin of Thailand is always a great choice where the service is fast, the soups are great and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of food you get. Don't miss the soups, they serve 2 and are served Thai-style.

Great Thai Lunch Spot

By ATLconsultant |

Uninspired service but very good thai curries -- especially the Massaman chicken. My favorite Thai spot for lunch on Sundays.

Not really Thai but good food.

By DrParticle |

The place was crowded and noisy mid week. Must be a popular spot. The menu is more pan asian than Thai. Food was well made, portions large, and perfect for sharing., Their sake was surprisingly decent and easy to drink. Parking is mostly off street and was a bit of a problem.

Sure In For Surin

THE BEST Thai food I've ever had hands down! I so appreciated the fact they had gluten-free options. Made my dining experience exceptional. Thank you

good food

By Scorpio Child |

This place is consistent. Nothing overly amazing, but the food is good. parking is limited, though. I like the spring rolls and coconut soup lunch specials.

Great Thai at reasonable price

By travel girl |

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in Atlanta. No, it does not taste like what you get on the streets of Bangkok, but this is Atlanta people! It is good though, service is efficient, and it's not expensive. Highly recommend. Great place for casual dinner if you are staying out in VaHi for drinks later that evening. I'm very picky about how my tofu is cooked, and they do a great job.

Great Food Slow Service

By ddmullis |

Recently had dinner with friends at Surin. The visit started very slowly with it taking some 20 plus minutes to get drinks which we ordered. The appetizers came out sooner followed by a slight delay with dinner. The food was top notch and prepared exactly as ordered even some with special requests. The overall service was attentive but slow. I would certainly request when making reservations to request 2 servers for any party over 8 people.

Good News: Great Food! Bad News: Very LOUD!!!

By rickpen1 |

I have to start by saying that we love this place. My girlfriend lives nearby and we walk down there frequently. Monday we dropped by and discovered they were having Half Price Appetizer Night. That's good, except it seems to bring in a crowd that drinks a lot, scarfs down cheap appetizers, and makes a LOT of noise. It was really unbearable. (In the defense of loud people, the acoustics are pretty bad. Nothing but hard, noise-reflecting surfaces) After being seated and realizing that we could not even talk to each other because of the noise level, we got the waiter to put us in a little private room (2 tables) that they have. It was a lot better, but still pretty noisy. The meal was great, but we vowed never, ever, to go there on Monday night again. A while back we met another couple there for dinner and it was almost impossible to carry on a conversation. It's a shame because it is really a nice place with great food. My suggestion: Get there early before the decibel level goes up. (they open for dinner at 5:30)

Reasonably great food

Visited the Atlanta area for 4 days and ate their every day! My husband and I get bored with food fast but it was hands down unanimous we had to try EVERYTHING on the menu. Best Food we had the entire trip

Not as Good as It Was

By chefluee |

We have frequented this Thai restaurant on and off since it opened years ago. Most of our dinners/lunches were above average but not the best in the city. However, the last two visits the food was just not very good. We ordered Larb and was absolutely non edible it had so much garlic in it. Who puts garlic in their Larb. Guess Surin does now. So disappointed. We both tried to eat it but couldn't. The fresh spring rolls were good and the sauces very good. The fried spring rolls were even better. Just so disappointed in the Larb.

Love it for special occasions

By planetjim |

We live in Sandy Springs and Surin is in Virginia Highlands, so a bit of a drive, but we go for special occasions, like when my daughter comes into town from Austin, TX. We like it for the interesting variety and the fact that the food, all of it, is consistently very good.

Yummy yummy Thai

By Lorna E |

I had a delicious lunch with my beastie today. Arrived 30 minutes earlier than she did and relaxed and read Creative Loafing while I awaited her arrival. I was warmly greeted by my server who was both friendly and astute with suggestions on the menu. I decided on the BBQ chicken served with soup (delicious) and shrimp fried rice, all for just $7.00. We also had the spring rolls. I will definitely eat here again! I had a "Living Social" coupon $10 for $20 so that was the icing on the cake!

Best Tai food in Atlanta

By Jeffrey P |

Food was outstanding, and there were several dishes that I have never seen before that I really liked.

Great Neighborhood Restaurant

By romadaro |

Picked this restaurant strictly based on the TripAdvisor reviews and, fortunately, it didn't disappoint. Not a lot of ambiance but the food was great! Although several folks have mentioned how busy it was, even on week nights, I guess we got lucky as it wasn't busy at all so we didn't feel rushed to order or eat, although once we did our food came out within 5-10 minutes, presented very nicely and everything was absolutely delicious. There were 5 of us and we all ordered something different so we could share. I had the catfish and the fried duck, which I had never eaten, and was surprised at how good it was! I thought it would be greasy and gamey, based on things I had heard about duck, but it was neither, even though it was fried. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Would definitely go back.

Birthday dinner

By Allie U |

Went here on a Tuesday night for a friend’s birthday. It was surprisingly busy for a week night, but we immediately got a table. My friend got the spicy noodle dish and said it was good, but not spicy at all. The portions were pretty large so we both took leftovers home. I got the chicken curry and had no complaints. However, it was not spicy and definitely did not need the one pepper rating. Service was fast and we got our food pretty quickly. Overall, a good experience but don’t expect to get anything spicy.

A great find

By Delegal |

This place was amazing Thai. The food was excellent and probably the best bargain in town. Service was excellent as was the atmosphere.

Wow - One of the Best Meals I've had

By RaeRays |

This is a MUST VISIT restaurant. My wife and I live way across town - but were attracted to this restaurant with a coupon. We LOVE Thai food and have eaten at some of the best Thai restaurants in town and across the country. We arrived early on a Friday - it opened at 5;30 and were promptly seated. They had a more diverse menu than many Thai restuarants that we visited... quite honestly we weren't expecting much... but were VERY much surprised. The service was outstanding - I was so impressed we purposedly asked for her name - Fon. If you go be sure to ask for her. She was very attentive - that's saying a lot because I drink water like a fish and she was there at every moment before I could empty my glass. The evening special was a lobster tail and shrimp dish and red curry with asparagus and red peppers for $20 - EXCEPTIONAL curry, not too hot. 4 medium sized shrimp and a good size lobster tail - about 6-7 ounces... a good value for the price. My only complaint was that it appear the green stalks were asparagus but there were only the stalks not the heads. My wife ordered the Chicken Curry - $11 - Great Value, exceptional flavor. We also ordered the Spicey Chicken Coconut soup for too - $7.50 Exceptional as well! They say it's spicey but it's mild enough for children. There was plenty of rice - all you can eat which went well with the ample sauce with the meals. We were offered dessert but declined (probably our mistake). If you're in the Virginia Highland area or downtown - this is a must visit restaurant! Very reasonable. Our other favorite is ThaiCoons in Marietta... more expensive, somewhat more upscale Thai decor - thus the price but Surin is still nice enough for a romantic date. Bon Apetite.

The restaurant acoustic is too loud. There was a kid's birthday party that night.

By PearlPinkPen |

The food was too sweet and syrupy. I'm Thai from Bangkok, Thailand and I was very disappointed that when I ordered the food that is supposed to be hot, spicy and has savoring flavours turned out to be flat sweet and overcooked. All the main dishes are too sweet. The waiters didn't know how to serve the food and pour the wine. I'll never go back. The birthday party in the main dining hall was too loud and we had to sit in the separate room to avoid the noise which is coming from a table of six but the whole entire patrons were disturbed by this one table. The separate room was bare and no decorations whatsoever, bare white wall, no flowers, no painting, no decorations of any sort, it was as if we were eating in a jail cell. The food was Americanized beyond recognition.

consistently good

By 83BadReview |

good food, nice atmosphere, good prices, good area of town

Always Great

By rickpen1 |

My girlfriend lives within walking distance of this restaurant and she loves the soft shell crab, so we have been there several times in the past few months and we have never been disappointed Last Saturday there was a Zombie Pub Crawl in the neighborhood. What a hoot! Dinner and a show! While you will not necessarily get such an entertaining show, Surin is a great place to go and the locals in the area are always interesting. Food is great, prices are good.

Thai with a twist !

By michelle y |

in the mood for Thai food . To my surprise, lamb chops were on the menu . Oh we , chop chop babe !!! Food , drinks and service A+ !

Amazing!

By SFree73 |

Simply delicious Thai food in ATL! Make sure you don't miss it~ we visit each time we come through Atlanta & it is amazing! My daughter said 'the flavors explode in your mouth'!!

Good Thai Food

By Cindy F |

We ate dinner at Surin recently. It was excellent and the service was very quick and attentive. The food was presented well. I had the Spicy Garlic Shrimp which was very good. One of my dinner companions had the Soft Shell Crab and really liked it. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Great lunch!

By mdaby3 |

I took my four adult children here for lunch. We were promptly seated and had water. It comes with a coconut type soup that was tasty! I tasted the catfish (excellent, very light batter with a sweet sesame type sauce), the Panang Curry (again, very nice) and the 3 Flavored Fish (a sweet chili sauce). All were equally good. In looking at the menu, it's a much better value for lunch than dinner.

Best Thai food ever!

By mexicanvisit |

We don't mind to drive till Virginia Highlands for the best Thai food in Atlanta Metropolitan area, Lamb is always served delicious!

Now, I am addicted to coconut soup.

By AtlTravelBoy |

The restaurant has a romantic quality. It is slightly cavernous with shiny hardwood floors. There are flowers all about the restaurant. It is located on a busy street in one the few walkable neighborhoods in Atlanta. The coconut soup and bbq chicken dish are my favorite. The food is always fresh tasting and the portions are generous.

Tasty Thai

By randy g |

Very tasty Thai food. Seafood was excellent and place is not as busy or noisy as it once was. Service good too.

Too busy, too crowded, too noisy

By Lyn J |

We went to Surin of Thailand on a Saturday evening. We had made reservations for a party of 7, and were seated promptly. The noise in the place made it impossible to have a conversation with anyone who was more than 1 seat away from you. The food was average for Thai food. I ordered steamed red snapper, it arrived fried. The Pad Thai was tasty. We were never asked if we wanted dessert, just given the check. We were never asked if we wanted drinks, just given water. We ordered many different things, and the food was just about average. The service was great considering the amount of people in the restaurant. If you are looking for an intimate dinner, this isn't your place. If you really don't want to talk to the people you're with, this is your place.

Great food and great service

By amandatee88 |

Ate dinner there while on business in the city. I had the chicken larb, pad see ew, saki and coconut ice cream. The food was delish, the ambiance was lovely and the service was excellent. I would definitely go back. The coconut ice cream was homemade, yum.

Some of the best thai food I've ever had!

By Zeek82 |

The food and staff are incredible. The authenticity of the thai meals are spot on and the specialty drinks are almost too good. Will be back when back in ATL. Worth a visit for sure!

In the city for some work

By gomia1979 |

This would have been higher but they messed up our order. The basil fried rice was great. So was the hello curry chicken. The portions sizes are small. They have ample parking at the back. Service is ok.

Surin of Thailand is Fantastic!

By BuffaloShoeGirl |

Surin of Thailand has it all: excellent food, great drinks, fantastic ambiance and perfect location. Sunday night is particularly nice; sit near the window and watch the N. Highland Avenue-dog walking-hipsters go by :)

Awesome as always!

By YardDawg14 |

Ate on a Saturday night around 9:30ish .... place was packed but we got lucky and got seated right away near the front windows - away from the middle which can be a little noisy. We have actually gotten this table several times and it is perfect and our favorite. Food was awesome - wife got soup and entree - I got the Curry Shrimp ..... all delicious. Lots of options if you want something else. We each had a glass of wine - priced fairly for a quality restaurant. We will be back of course.

Hands Down, one of my Favorite Thai Restaurants in the USA!

By traveltomva1 |

I travel the world on a regular basis. I never hit Atlanta without going to Surin. I have been going for over 20 years. Its has remained one of the best quality Thai restaurants I have eaten at in America. The food quality surpass the prices. The people are friendly. Go. You will enjoy the neighborhood (Virginia Highlands) Remember "Driving Miss Daisy". Go. Its Good.

Neighborhood Thai with above average food

By Philip C |

Went here with a group of 7 so this allowed for a sampling of a variety of dishes . Everything taste great ! New to me was char-grilled lamb chops in basil sauce. Pleasant and attentive service - would repeat !

Food fine but service average

By Conti1964 |

Visited this Thai restaurant in Feb 2016 . Prominent corner restaurant near bars of Virginia Highland . Went with 2 friends and though the food was very good ( I had Chicken Pad Prik which was excellent ) Service and staff were not the best . Poor service finished off with that certainty of poor joints : Beig given incorrect change when settling the bill .

Good Authentic Thai Food

By Claudette R |

Surin of Thailand is a very good restaurant in the Virginia Highland neighborhood. The restaurant has a pleasant décor and relaxing atmosphere. There is a bar, Often you receive a large portion of food on your plate. Every menu selection I made over the years has been tasty and enjoyable. The soups taste good. Coconut soup is a popular dish. My favorites are Massaman and the rack of lamb. The fresh basil roll is delicious with the special sauce. Recently, I visited Surin on my last trip to Atlanta with some friends. It has been about 3 years, since I dined there. It was a notable change in the service and the delay in bringing our dishes to the table. The night my friends and I were dining there, it was a staff shortage. The server was pleasant and friendly.. However, he was attending to a party of 18 and our table. Given we were engaged in fun and lively conversation, the wait wasn't as bad as it might have been, if we expected the plates to be brought to the table in a timely manner. My friends ordered mixed drinks, iced Thai coffee and wine and enjoyed them all. I dined at this restaurant several times in the past years and it can fill up fast and is usually packed. I have also ordered food to go. At those times, the food was prepared and placed in the "to go" containers in an appetizing way and tasted great. I like the food. I have never been disappointed. Parking can be a nuisance at time, particularly on the street and when you have to pay. The restaurant has a parking lot in the back. It can accommodate about 10 to 12 vehicles and can be a little difficult to get in and out of, depending on where you park. There are a number of Thai restaurants in Atlanta. Some of them are good. Surin of Thailand is one of them and they may exceed your expectations, food wise. Hopefully, when you go, the staff is complete and the service is faster.

Above average Thai food

By Jesus V |

A colleague of mine was recommended this place by a friend and we ended up coming here for dinner. We were staying downtown so this place was a bit of a drive. We didn't regret it since the food was good, reasonably priced and the atmosphere was good. The food wasn't as spicy as I was expecting but very good. The restaurant is located in a nice little area of town a few miles from Downtown.

Authentic and perfect service

By Monique_en_Arjen |

On advice of a colleague we visited Surin. Loved the food with real authentic flavors. We had the ground meat served in a crisp salad as a starter and next the classic Pad Thai. The service was also great

Love the coconut soup !

By Coralys R |

This restaurant has delicious food and great service! Their thai bbq chicken is my favorite! Every time we go we have a great time!

Not bad

By Beaux1980 |

This restaurant had a very good staff and great service overall. I gave an average rating for the food. I am not a super adventurous Thai food eater, so we tend to get Pad Thai every time. Keep in mind that this rating is just comparing this dish to the other times I've had it. In this instance, it had no spice, no lime, and it seemed to lack much of the peanut taste I crave.

great food and excellent value

By Judah B |

We went as a family tonight based on other reviews on this site...we were not disappointed. We discovered that they have 1/2 price appetizers when we arrived. Everything about the meal was positive, from the service to the atmosphere and especially the high quality food enjoyed by all members of the family. It was so good that we plan to return tomorrow night!

It's okay

By maorlick |

The service sucked. Waited and waited I couldn't even to call to the server as they talk and joked with there backs to me. However the was good. This was my first time ans my last time. Good luck if you go.

Yummy Thai food!

By AngieELS |

We had a great Sunday lunch here. The food was very good! My husband loved his coconut soup and lamb entree. I loved the Thai BBQ chicken with shrimp fried rice. Prices are good. Our server was pleasant. Located in Virginia Highlands, a neighborhood that we really like. Can't wait to return and try something else. The menu looks great!

Really do miss this place!

By MtnMadMan |

Met another couple for dinner, and this restaurant has maintained the food quality! Service is still first class, and it comes highly recommended.

No frills thai food

My first time eating Thai food

By Charmilla |

This was a nice experience! Our server was excellent. The food was very good. The angel wonton had a bit much cream cheese for me but it was edible. The shrimp and broccoli was very good and it was a good size portion. This will be one of the spots that I want to return to when we go back to ATL.

great Thai in a funky neighborhood.

By Mcveefly |

Surin gets it done, Thai food for Americans, with minimum hoopla but maximum effect. A solid mid-range choice for a night out with friends or clients.

Great Gluten Free Options!!

By Dane C |

While the menu does not specify gluten free items, the staff at Surin of Thailand is more than willing to make any menu item gluten-free that can be. With that said, I was able to eat their delicious panang with no fear of a reaction!! Best Thai food south of Buckhead in my opinion.

Good food

By Angela H |

Went here during a lunch trip. It was quick service and very flavorful. I would love to come back during dinner.

casual Thai with good food and service

By garygDC |

One of many restaurants in the area. If you're in the mood for Thai, this place is worthy. Friendly service. The menu has been Americanized, so if you're not familiar with Thai food, you will be able to order without asking questions. If you frequent Thai restaurants, you will have to kind of translate the English back to the dishes you know. The food is quite good. The ambience is nothing special -- reasonably clean and straightforward. Worth a visit if you're in the mood.

Saturday lunch favorite!

By QuTravel |

Surin of Thailand is a long-standing staple for me on lazy Saturday afternoons. Service is always great and the Thia-fusion menu is inspired!

Good Thai food, not great.

By willwork4benefits |

This is the first Thai resturant that I visited in my dinner club and they have good food, but I cook Thai food, mostly curries at home now and I have been to a few other restaurants around the metro area since this one that are just better.

Wonderful Thai Food

By Chuck M |

It is hard to find a great Thai resturant in ATL. I love this place, great food, great service, nice atmosphere. I will continue to drive the 30 miles to get it !

Best Thai green curry in the world. Period.

By John T |

As a huge fan of Thai food, my wife and I had travel extensively across the globe in search of the best Thai food outside of Thailand. And here at Surin, we found it. Search no further!

Sadly --A huge drop off in Quality and Value from a once-great Thai Spot

By ValuReviewer |

As a Texas resident, we would race from Hartsfield to Surin the minute our plane touched down in Atlanta. Over the years--- many wonderful memories. The last 3 disappointing visits have maxed out our tolerance for this Thai spot. On this trip I made two stops in one day after arriving from Texas. We were shut down the first time as we arrived at 235 PM because they closed at 230PM. So we made the trek back down a second time for dinner after checking into our hotel 30 minutes North of Surin. Surin now reminds you of a hyper-busy, fill-you-up-quick European train station cafe. Gone are the beautiful flowers, the spotlessness that was a trademark of this establishment, the friendly attentive service and most important the food quality. Rule #1 of any chef in the Kitchen: TASTE YOUR FOOD AND SAUCES. This night was the final straw for 2 long-time loyal customers. Cashew chicken was so grisly and salty and the sauce over the catfish was so sweet you would think there were only two condiments in their pantry ---sugar and salt. We had to beg to get a waiter to come around. The staff was buzzing around in chaos. They have packed so many tables into this tiny spot that it is offensive to the clientele. Surin is dangerously living off its former reputation and there are too many choices now in Atlanta for them to continue like this. I had to seek out a manager to offer my feedback because I really don't want to see this place close, but all I got was disinterest and the company line --"Same people, Same quality, Same recipes for 25 years". Normally, proprietors apologize for a bad night. There was zero effort to rectify this experience-- just the distinct impression I was holding them up from seating someone else at my table. To give them the benefit of the doubt, I thought it was me-- until I saw the other similar reviews. Surin management, please read what your customers are saying and make the appropriate changes. It will be sad to see this place close down, but that is where you are headed if you don't change.

Great Thai food with excellent variety of choices

By doublegdawg |

Our son, who lived on the Highlands for a couple of years, suggested Surin. It was better than advertised, as we delightfully sampled each others meals, a sure sign of contentment. Entrees that ran the Thai gamut from mild to spicy were prepared just to our liking. Even the creme brûlée was delicious!

Overpriced, low quality

By ZEK |

This place over charges and under performs. We paid $7 for their basil roll which was two tiny pieces served with a watered down peanut sauce. It’s literally rice noodle, rice paper and basil. The margin they are making on these is incredible. Then we paid $17 for the fried rice with beef. For $17 I would expect a little effort. Couple slices of beef, whole bunch of “fried” rice. Go to Buford highway, food is better and prices are lower.

I think it has lost some of that lovin' feeling

By eggestad |

I have had good NUMEROUS times at the Surin before, it used to be one of my hang-outs when I lived in the area, but now the service has gone down hill, and the food was no longer authentic in presentation, level of spice and even the chicken was dry. I was disappointed, and when the service was slow in addition, even though the property was only half full, I have to say it may be a long while until I am back. That actually makes me a little sad, as it used to be the place I went out to in Atlanta. Now have may have to look for another. Tell me it isn't so.. or did you actually lose that lovin' feeling?

Nice atmosphere, but tasteless favorites

By sekhmet22 |

This restaurant is always crowded and has a nice atmosphere. The service is good. However, my standby Thai choices (Pad Thai and Thai iced tea) are decidedly lacking in taste here. The next time I'll just have to branch out to something other than my standbys and hope for more flavor.

One of my favorites

By Mountaineer4ever |

I don't remember how many years ago I discovered Surin. Until I retired I ate there at least every other week. I went the other evening after not being there for 2 years. I promise it won't be another 2! Surin is my litmus test for Thai food. There are other Thai restaurants that have more variety, others that might be more authentic, and others that have better ambiance. But Surin has one of my 5 favorite meals of all-time. I start with their fresh basil rolls. Plump, made to order and plenty of basil. I have NEVER had a better Tom Kai Gai (Coconut Chicken Soup). It is rich, smooth with just the right balance of sweet and spice, and enough chicken and mushrooms to be make it delectable. And then the Chicken Masaman. Their version is one of my comfort foods. Tender chunks of chicken, plenty of cashews, and slices of avocado in an absolutely delicious Masaman curry sauce. No potatoes or pieces of onion in their version. From my first mouthful to scraping the bowl I am in foodie heaven. Over the years I have had just about everything on their menu and never been disappointed. But I keep coming back for the Chicken Masaman and Tom Kha Gai.

Spicy Beef Salad

By anointedhelp |

I always get the spicy beef salad. Love this place. Prices are good.

For the Price - Exceptional Thai Cusine

By DNSPartners |

Surin of Thailand was nicely appointed inside, with a nice busy bar area and a good selection of tables inside for any size party. The wait staff are friendly, pleasant and not at all sales pressure in demeanor. Our party of 3 ordered the Basil Shrimp Rolls, Panang Chicken Curry, Pad See-U Pork and Chicken Mixed Vegetables. The Panang Curry was FABULOUS, the Pad See-U Pork good, but wish we had gotten the Pad Thai and the Mixed Vegetables wonderful. Everything was spiced just the way we ordered, arrived piping hot to our table and we did not leave much left at all. We did not have drinks, just water and did not realize that till our food came, but that was just fine. The bill came to only $40 including tax, which for 3 people to eat out in Atlanta was amazingly cheap for high quality, good portion sized & very tasty Thai Food. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Sure, there might be Better Thai places in Atlanta, but you will end up paying twice the price.

Outstanding noodle bowls and more!!!!

By Tony G |

The best noodle bowls I've ever had. Located in east Inman park, this is a great Thai restaurant with an outstanding selection of what is best about Thai food. Fresh ingredients and 3 levels of spicy heat designated by 1,2 or 3 peppers. Level 2 is good for most everyone. The level 3 can be intense if you feel adventurous. The flavor infused in the noodles is something magical. Try the noodles with shrimp and garlic(level 2), great stuff. Also, try a Tiger beer with your dish. Tiger beer seems hard to find. Maybe it's just me, but Thai beer with Thai food just works. Go and try this restaurant, you'll be back!

One of the Best Thai restaurants

By John C |

I admit that my Thai dining experiences are limited to about 4 years, but I can say that I have tried about 8 in metro Atlanta. Out of them all, Surin is definitely #1 in terms of taste and consistency. I have been a few times this year, and each time, the food is perfect. The price is not the lowest, but also not the highest. Great neighborhood too. I suggest the Panang Curry with Shrimp.

Always wonderful. You can taste the quality of ingredients.

By TravelisHeaven |

We order from here frequently. It's the only place we regularly order from on Zifty. I think they need their own delivery service really :) excellent food .we have never been displeased with a single dish, and we have tried them all. The Thai barbecue chicken is amazing and unusual. Spicy spaghetti amazing. Larb, unreal. Must have great management because quality is consistently superb.

Superb!

By JFischer |

I need to eat here more often...in addition to friendly, competent service, the food is delectable. The Thai BBQ chicken demonstrates that the chef is a master. For lunch the half chicken comes with coconut soup and shrimp fried rice, for $8. You can't beat the quality and value. The interior is nicely decorated and comfortable.
