NEVER give 5 stars but I had the best meal in years sitting at the bar alone on a tuesday. I had read other reviews that said this place had the best nigiri around and I can cosign for that. I allowed the chef to make whatever his heart desired for me and I couldn't be happier with that decision. Each piece of nigiri was made and devoured with a zealous enthusiasm that I was almost embarrassed by and each piece was better than the last. There was also flavor combinations that I had never experienced before i.e shaved truffle over Toro nigiri. Sushi purists may not like this chef's style as he did use a torch to caramelize certain pieces and unusual garnishes were applied but I would say stay woke and try new things. Sit at the bar and let the man do his thing! Oh and the staff was friendly and attentive too.

Excellent sushi restaurant - I recommend sitting at the counter if you can score some seats as the craftsmanship in these master chefs is fun to watch. Tasting the results is even more fun and enjoyable as their creations are absolutely delicious and often very unique. I really enjoyed my dining experience here - reservations are HIGHLY recommended. Plenty of street and lot parking available all around this area of DTLA.

Late November birthday celebration for my brother’s 4-0. This was our last outdoor dining meal before LA shutdown. It was a great Omakase menu due to the multiple uni and truffle dishes. It was delicious!Parking garage is close by. There was a bar available next door that had great cocktails while we waited for our table.

The sushi quality is average, I mean it's fresh but just not the best cuts. The rolls are far better and worth your money. The place is small and does not take reservations. We went on a Thursday night at 6 pm and did not have to wait. Try the chef's special rolls.

After having lived in LA for a few years, I've tried almost every sushi bar in downtown Los Angeles. Enya is the best all the way around, sushi provider in downtown. The omakase when served is excellent and a must try if you have the gastric space and $200. It's high I know, they just raised the prices as of 2018. It used to be $90. If it weren't expensive, Id give Sushi Enya 5 buttons.

It was so good I recommend the white tuna and the tuna tartar! If you are a vegan there is also options for you! There is even a protein style sushi.

We had a terrible experience unfortunately! Me and my partner are sushi lovers so we know our sushi and we have eaten some in every corner of the World. Sushi Enya has great reviews and a 2 out of 4 price tag on Google. Well that’s a lie. It should have 4 out of 4 given the insane prices for ridiculously little portions. We are talking 2 pieces of sashimi for $19. Two pieces! A mixed chirashi is $65. They do a special of 14 pieces for $160. I’m all about freshness and quality but this feels like you’re being robbed. It was fresh but nothing spectacular compared to other more reasonable priced sushi. Also the chefs have this habit of screaming every time someone gets in or out - which is cute the first two times but really after a while it plain ruins your dinner. The place is small and overstaffed - so you find waiters often staring at you or removing plates right after you finish eating which is not my definition of good service. We will never come back. Go to sugar fish instead.

This small sushi restaurant was well worth the wait outside in the brisk evening. The greeting was warm and welcoming, and the menu was specific to the fish fresh on the day of our visit. The yuzu roll was sliced in beautiful, thin mouth-sized pieces. Our selection of fish sushi was all cut and presented expertly.

Super and unforgettable experience! Food, personnel, service all is outstanding and excellent. The welcome received while you are sitting is amazing and warm.

I booked this place for a date, and the staff were really kind and accommodating, which made it a special anniversary. The food was delicious, and we don't usually leave a review, but this time I just have to.

Sushi Enya is generally regarded as a superior choice if you're in Little Tokyo looking for quality sushi, and I agree. The fish is top-notch, as is the rice (something too few reviews mention, imho). Preparation is quick and expert. We didn't have rolls during our visit, but the ones we saw heading to other tables looked delicious without being overly sauced or schlocky. Nice beverage selection, too. This is the kind of place you can dress up or dress down—they offer a $125 omakase experience, but they seem just as happy to serve a piece or two of nigiri sushi and a hand roll. Highly recommended, especially if you're a fan of sushi already.

I am still craving for them....but I am thankful I had a chance to eat there. Definitely will come back to eat there when I get the chance to visit LA again. Great service and most importantly great food!!!!

Was headed to another place but the line was too long. Waited about 30 minutes for a table for four. Small restaurant, with amazingly good food. We had Crunchy Dragon roll, California Roll, Ebi, Tempura Udon - a And more, but that's all I ate -- all outstanding!!! A terrific selection of sake, too. Don't hesitate to try this place. You'll be very glad you did, and you'll be back. I know I will! Call ahead to see if they take reservations. Credit cards are accepted.

I had dinner yesterday at Sushi Enya, service is great and servers are really nice. We order the Sashimi Albacore with fried onions, delicious, sashimi yellow tail with Yasu Sauce also delicious, I love the flavor the thinly sliced jalapenos give to it and we had one roll. Everything is in generous portions and very fresh. I would highly recommended in Little Tokio.

Quick dinner. Service was very high . Decor simple and stylish inside. Outside does not reflect this . Food was fresh and made in open kitchen. It's a little on the high side price wise. Had sushi and roll both good and a couple of beers.

The delicious food, we ordered several rolls to share and all were delicious. They prepare everything on the bar and fresh produce. I would recommend it 100% and if you would return

This place is magical!!!! They do sushi better than in Japan! I’m in love with this tiny place and it worth a trip in purpose!!! The best in the world! And their protein rolls are orgasmic delicious! Have been 3 times in this places, each time we fly from Russia to USA and stop by LA, we aim there!!! Best on earth!

Incredible service, nice staff and waiters, beautiful and delicious sushi. Atmosphere upbeat and clean

Had omakase twice and noticed it was basically list of items from regular menu grouped together. $150+ per head for 14pc omakase seemed high because items were coming off the regular menu where we could have chosen only the dishes we wanted instead they gave served list of regular menu items. I don't mind paying even $300 per head if done correct but overall ambiance here lacks proper authentic sushi restaurant. It is more of casual dining at Sushi Enya. It is better to select from menu on what you only want vs ordering omakase here. Other strong sushi restaurant choices near by Little Tokyo.

For a new place I found Enya sushi a fresh shiny gem in the neighborhood. The food was tasty, the special rolls has been cut to 14 thin pieces each roll and were good. The service was very good and so the atmospher.

This is an excellent choice for sushi in Little Tokyo. It's small -- maybe 10 tables plus a few bar seats. They seem to specialize in cut rolls, which are roughly in the $12-15 range, but quite large and beautifully presented. You could make a reasonable meal out of two of these. Hand rolls are smaller and less expensive. Fish seems generally very fresh. It's a no reservations place, so there's typically a wait of 15 min or so, but that's made quite palatable by the fact that they play hip jazz from the Blue Note catalog.

The variety and the freshness of the seafood here is outstanding. The chefs prepare the sushi with style and present it with flair. The fish, whether raw or cooked, is extremely flavorful. Staff is very friendly as well. Overall the best sushi restaurant I have frequented in a long while.

I’m from England and I went to the states for a tour. First stop was LA and we stayed at hotel myiako. And I’m so glad. Me and friends were lucky enough to have Enya opposite the hotel. Amazing service and literally the best sushi I’ve had. If I ever got the chance, I’d go back to LA just to eat at Enya again!

Sushi in LA is like deli in New York, so much a part of local habits that you tend to become blasé. Sushi Enya shakes up your stupor with its presentation -- its sushi is served on long thin dishes instead of square plates, so you think you will never finish the gargantuan portions. But the food is so good that you do, and wind up wishing you had ordered more. On a Saturday night, four of us had to wait 40 minutes for a table, so we were hungry when we sat down and ordered abundantly, or so we thought. We polished off appetisers of edamame and soft-shelled crab, and four long dishes that included spicy tuna, albacore with fried onion, chef's special, and dragon roll. Everything was excellent. Our only regret was that we had nothing left over to bring home and enjoy the next day. Tea was hot, sake was ice cold, service was cordial in spite of the Saturday night lively crowd. We'll be back.

My wife and 18 year old son were visiting Little Tokyo in Los Angeles and went to Sushi Enya based on other people's reviews. The restaurant was immaculately clean and staff very friendly. We got the last table, which was Japanese style on the floor. We ordered Yellowtail Sashimi, Sushi and Blue Fin Tuna Sushi, and 2 rolls (Lemon and Chef Special 1, as well as an appetizer of Sushito Peppers and Miso Soup. All of the dishes were fantastic. The fish was so fresh and tasty. The bill was about 90 dollars for all three of us, plus tax and tip. I would go back here in a hearbeat if I am back in Little Tokyo.

Although much of the menu is not traditional, the fish was very fresh, the rolls were unique, delicious, and fun to try. My family and I celebrating my wife's birthday, had a great time and we agreed that we would return.

I'm generally not in a restaurant for its looks, but if not for the food of course, and the general environment and experience. This small and cozy restaurant delivered all I expected: good fish. It came along with good service and a reasonable price tag. I went there as a walk-in customer on a monday night, and the wait time was still around 20 mins at 8pm.

This place is not fancy, but makes VERY tasty sushi which is made and served by great staff! Our group had 5 rolls and each one was delicious!!! Definitely will be back.

The most amazing sushi I have ever eaten. Quick, prompt and friendly service. We were greeted by the sushi chefs chorusing together to say welcome in Japanese with huge smiles of their face. Loved that their fish is market fresh every day. Garlic Edamame beans were out of this world. You must eat here!

When looking for food in an unfamiliar area, my solution is to look for places that are crowded, and go there. Sushi Enya was full all the time - though we managed to get a table without reservation by showing up when they first opened for dinner at 5:30 p.m. The staff was delightful - the sushi chefs shouted greetings to each arriving guest, as they do in Japan. We did a full course of sushi, trying several kinds we weren't familiar with, and our waitress was very helpful in explaining distinctions with the different fish and how they were prepared. All of it was beautiful to look at as well as to taste! Oh, and the black walnut ice cream we had for dessert was the perfect conclusion to the meal. I shouted to the chefs "Oysy!" (Delicious) as we left.

This Sushi shop is something special. They have very fresh fish and a really great and authentic Sushi chef who knows what he's doing. There is always a long wait but for good reasons. I wish they had more space inside but this makes it actually very authentic compared to Sushi shops in Tokyo/Japan. If you care in the area and want some high quality Sushi, give them a try. You will not be disappointed.

Ordered the lemon and yuzu rolls - both are supposedly in limited supplies and are favourites. They were not that unusual, fresh and good, and generous portion size, cut thinly and served on a very long plate. The crispy rice was ok and the peppers were good. Not as great as others said in their reviews but certainly enjoyable.

Nice food, Original types of rolls. That clearly use nice fresh fish. Major drawbacks : basic interior decoration and staff, though friendly, really give you the feeling they want you back outside as soon as possible.

It's been a few days since my trip to Sushi Enya, and I'm still dying for it! This spot is right on the outskirts of little Tokyo, so we put our names in and had time to explore the area, which is a must-see in LA! We were seated promptly and the atmosphere in the space was fun but laid back. The waitstaff was incredible polite and attentive without being pushy- definitely a difficult task to achieve in a busy restaurant on a Saturday night! We ordered the garlic edamame as an appetizer, and an assortment of rolls to share. The standouts for me were the Chef's Roll #2 and the Marilyn Monroe. The Marilyn Monroe was my favorite (probably because it was deef fried), but even though it was deep fried, it wasn't too heavy. Chef's Role #2 was fresh and delicious, and each roll came placed on a delicious dipping sauce. Overall, I would highly recommend a trip to Sushi Enya!

Best sushi bar. We came across this little spot while having visited MOCA. Id happily eat there daily! The sushi is sublime. Service is perfect and the passion with which the food is prepared is second to none. While the food is exceptional, the staff are the best thing about this place. Knowledgeable and easy going, I'd have no qualms getting them to order for me. If you can, sit at the bar area and watch the food being prepared. Amazing.

We visited the place as it was near our hotel but was surprised by the sushi..its fresh, super yummzzzz and the staffs are all very attentive.we even returned the next night for more super yummzzzz sushi.planning to go again tonight as it will b our last night in LAX.

Chefs Takayama Masayoshi and Morimoto Masaharu need no introduction. The world knows of their universal culinary prowess and the respective legendary restaurants in New York and Philadelphia. But wait... They might have slight competition from the chef behind the creations at Sushi Enya in LA’s Little Tokyo. The sushi is some of the freshest I have ever tasted, outside of Japan. The uni is a perfect balance of firmness and creaminess; the ikura and tobiko are like culinary firecrackers on one’s tongue. Salmon and tuna sashimi will probably never taste the same after Enya. Like the eponymous singer (after whom the restaurant was definitely not named), the courses at this place just sing! And you cannot forget to wash the meal down with some incredible sake.

We had heard only in reviews... in trying to find the best sushi in LA... this was recommended in another review I had read that it is superb... so why not go? and we did... It is a lovely little storefront in Little Toyko that we found quite easily. The staff was so very pleasant and accomadating... and don't forget the extra addition... because when you come in ….they do this beautiful charming and welcoming chat that is so overwhelmong at first but loved later......lol The selections are beautiful and the lovely selected arrangemnet of sushi was amazing that we choose... although I thought it quite different than some other sushi restaurants... that is the way that it was presented was quite different.... Sake was very hot and delicious.... I like that! I would definitely suggest you trying this establishment as it was a very serious sushi bar if that is what you are looking for... serious sushi Very nice and thank you for your expert hospitality... and that cheer when you come in... I am still thinking how precious that was... Nice spot!!!

Wanting a bit of sushi and found this lovely little place in Pasadena not far form the hotel we were staying in, didn't order the set as it contained items that we didn't like. The a la carte sushi menu was extensive and we have enjoyed all of them, no cooked items on menu except miso soup.

Great sushi, not overpriced. Loved the rolls and everything. Get a reservation, this place is popular!

Came here for dinner in a group of 7 on a Friday night. We had to wait for an hour to get seated since we had a large group with no reservation. Indoor seating only. They have a omakase option but we all opted for a la carte. I had a chirashi bowl which was quite filling and had a lot of fish. I got green tea which came with free refills. Service was friendly and there are gendered restrooms in the back. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. It’s a classy spot to eat high quality fish.
Super Yummy in Cool Location.
We love Sushi Enya. The outside does not look like much, but I think it is pretty cool looking. The inside is wonderful, nicely decorated and comfortable. The service is fast and super friendly. The servers will help you with your order and they can tell you what is fresh and what is great any given day. The menu is extensive and you will find whatever you want here. The sushi is just great. It is near the Hotel Miyiako so if you are staying near there, stop into Sushi Enya. You will love it.
