Visiting Dallas and tried this place as it was close. Good move. The food and service are top-notch. It's a lively and fun little restaurant. We had soup, edamame, and a few sushi rolls. Planning on another visit before I have to leave.

I just moved to Texas and I've already visited Sushi Robata a number of times! The Crunch Roll is my absolute favorite and I recommend it highly. My boyfriend and I went for lunch the other day and it was such an incredible deal! He got a bento box with soup and salad, and I got 2 rolls with soup and salad, AND we got an appetizer. All of that together was around $25! SO much food for such a great price. Love it here!

Had two rolls, soup and salad. Food was tasty. Atmosphere was pleasant and waitresses were very polite. Enjoyed the meal.

My wife and I frequent this wonderful establishment 3-4 times a month ... we have NEVER had anything close to a bad experience! The staff is so friendly and accommodating , the food is delicious , and their selection of cold sakes is very nice. Their menu is quite extensive and varied yet they pull it off ... sometimes a dining establishment will offer too many choices and just come out mediocre ( e.g. Cheesecake Factory... I'm not hating , CF is ok and have some good stuff but they just can't pull off such a huge menu... but I digress) ... their selection of raw fish and cooked plates is really good ... they don't pander to the get "stuffed on a single plate of sashimi crowd"... they cut their fish nice and thin so you enjoy the flavor and texture of raw fish and not just engorge yourself with food ! The prices are reasonable... you can still drop $200 for a random dinner as couple if you eat and drink enough ( my wife knows her sushi and for being a small Asian woman can eat and drink for 2-3 burly guys ... lol... we can sit and eat and drink more than a group of 4-5 ppl) ... but it's cheaper than going to Nobu ( but that's a different place and experience and deserves a totally special review ) .

Last weekend my husband and I decided to her for dinner on a Friday night. When we arrived they told us the wait time was only 10-15 minutes. Perfect! Not long at all! 20 minutes went by, still sort of acceptable, hey it's Friday night. 30 minutes go by, hmm... maybe we should say something. 45 minutes go by, Excuse me, when we put our name in you said 10-15 minutes. I was then told, oh... there are three people still ahead of you, it will be about another 30-45 minutes. WHAT?! We ended up waiting an entire hour and 10 minutes for a seat at the over crowded sushi bar. (We thought about leaving, but we're smart enough to realize that we would probably be waiting the same amount of time everywhere else) It took about 10 minutes for us to actually be greeted by our waitress. She was very polite, but that's about all I have to say about her. It's a shame that we have lost taste for this place. We always considered it our secret sushi place when we moved to Dallas a few years ago. Now that it has become more popular, it seems as if it cannot adapt to its business.

Not easy to do. They loved the sushi and huge menu. Especially had fun with all of the selections of saki. Lots of choices.

We have been to Sushi Robata on many occasions and find it consistently excellent at a price that is hard to believe. paying $ 100 plus at Nobu seems crazy when you can get sushi this good for a fraction. Service is very good and the atmosphere also fine.

The staff is very attentive. The menus are comprehensive and there is a guide you can ask for of the various rolls with pictures and descriptions. There is a good availability of sake and map showing the regions and dryness. Very helpful for a novice in the sake world. The place is busy and noisy but what you would expect. I say that in case you are going for quiet and romantic. Are the rolls and sushi above average? I would say good and consistent. A place to go for your sushi fix and roll fix. They do have a lot of small appetizers to try. The chicken hearts were awesome. I would go back again.

As New York City transplants, we were spoiled with many great sushi options before our move to Dallas. The menu is traditional and everything is always very fresh. Spotless restaurant and great service. Give it a try. You won't be disappointed. Gets very busy at times so don't expect to walk right in unless it's an off time. They have a following.

We frequently eat Sushi and this place was OK; but not exceptional. Most Sushi had already been pre pared and was sticking to the plate and flattened on the bottom. Service was OK but a little slow because they were busy. They were very busy at lunch time. There are better smaller Sushi restaurants with fresher Sushi.

I really recommend this place, great food and great service. The sushi is very fresh tasting. The prices are very reasonable. I like going here also for the atmosphere. People are very friendly. I would decently tell people to come here!!! And I will come back for sure!

Super yummy sushi and reasonably priced. We had 3 rolls, a salad, and grilled chicken gizzards. We think the gizzards were not that special. The rolls are on the small side but they are made very very well, and the lotus root chip in the salad was excellent too. The service was OK, the waitresses weren't rude and got everything done quickly, but at the same time they looked quite stressed (from the busy night?) and so we didn't feel very welcomed either. Wish we live in Dallas just because of the good food at this place.

I don't trust a lot of people about food, but one of the few I do recommended Sushi Robata. I have recently been to Japan and it has really made me Jaded as most of what we pass off as Sushi and noodles in this country, it is a travesty. I will say the noodles here are in the same class as the delicious treasures I sampled on the streets of Ginza and Roppongi. Very supple, excellent flavors, all around delicious! Their tempura is very nice, subtle and fresh. Someone is taking their time to make sure it isn't an oily mess, but a great accent to the flavor of fresh vegetables and shrimp. The sushi isn't half bad either, as with most sushi places you should get whats fresh, ask what they have. The ootoro they had last time was very savory, as was the mackerel. Really enjoy a place that isn't pushing rolls but actual sushi on their special board. Oh yeah, it was also very affordable for food of that quality. I've gladly paid 50% more for food 1/2 as good at other places. If you are any where near North Dallas and like Japanese cuisine, you have to check this place out.

A Japanese friend recommended this place to me. It is my new favorite sushi destination in the DFW metroplex. Food, service, atmosphere are all phenomenal. Great place for a date with spouse!

My second trip to Sushi Robata in Dallas was everything I expected. I have only ordered the Omakase (Chef's choice) on the recommendation of my brother. The 3 of us sat at the sushi bar and I again ordered the Omakase. The fish was fresh and flavorful. I was so pleased with the chef's choice of fish and roe that I cannot wait until I am back in Texas so I can return to one of my favorite restautants! The restaurant is owned by Head Chef Hiroyoshi Mori a true Japanese sushi Chef. I highly recommend this sushi experience to any sushi aficionado. You will not be disappointed!

This is one of the best sushi places in DFW area. The price are reasonable and the food are fresh, the service is superb. I entertain many business clients here. I also entertain many high level chefs here as well. Even the chefs love this place. Highly recommended.

Excellent bento box choices! Came with my 4 year old son. He had his own. Teriyaki beef with chicken katsu. He loved it! I had the grilled salmon with Chicken. Also great. Both $9 each! Service was excellent. I will definitely come back and spread the word on this place.

never been before, will be back for sure. it's 1/4 miles from blue fish, not sure I'll ever go back to BF. had tuna, salmon, spicy tuna roll and tuna sashimi. all very good.

Decent Sushi, good place for lunch with friends. Quick service and not overly crowded. Need better descriptions of the rolls on the lunch menu. We had to guess at the ingredients. Good job overall.

I like this place and definetly will come back. Their menu is big enough for all tastes, big space that can make you feel comfortable enough. We started with different appetizer, includes yakitori, and different meats in a screw, also i had kushi age (pork) and i love it... also had ebi furai, and end up with soba with kitsune which was so good !! If you want eat yakitori they have different kind and styles, from my point of view, as i was trying a new restaurant.. i always take with salt... later if u like it with tare. But it worth it !

Food here is so good, Bento box, Ramen, Grill, Sushi... If you are looking for good japanese food this is the place Service is very good and friendly

Are there tonite with family. Very disappointing. Sushi not fresh. Salad dressing subpar. Edamame had no salt. All in all was not impressed.

From the outside this location may not seem like much located in a strip mall. Inside it is welcoming and the staff is friendly. What matters most of all, the sushi and rolls are excellent. A great selection of rolls. Good appetizers, in particular the chicken hearts are amazing. There is also a good selection of Sake available. We had a small child and they were accommodating with a high chair and cups with lids. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for sushi.

Sashimi is either fresh & well prepared = excellent ... or "not" - & then, you're in big trouble. This place provides you with pleasant surroundings/ambiance, expertly prepared, ultra fresh, Sashimi - and standard, but very nice traditional dishes. If hungry, order Sakura (delectable Sashimi selection) followed by Beef Bento-box (nicely prepared filet + shrimp tempura that is light, not overly "oily", and really tasty). They also have one of the better Saki menus in the U.S, but, to get the really good stuff - it's not for the faint-hearted ... you'll wish you were dining on the "expense account". Net/net: all around excellent dining experience. You won't be disappointed. Enjoy.

Probably one of the best Japanese restaurants I have tried outside Japan.... My recommendation: Much better in the evening than lunch time. I eat here at least twice a month... Try the chef suggestions and you will be positively surprised!

The service is quietly efficient. It's the way you'd like to be treated. The food is very good, crisp, and clean tasting. I've tried to duplicate the ginger dressing they use on salads to no avail. Miso soup is served with most meals. A number of Saki selections are available.

Hands down the best sushi experience I've ever had. To gain full experience you must sit at the sushi bar and request NUKE to serve you. He is extremely talented, passionate and respectful. I went for my birthday dinner with my girlfriend and he asked us if we would like to order off the menu and have the chef pick (omakase) - the fact that he asked us shows his level of respect for the art and experience and his preparation techniques are only matched by the fun experience he provides while eating the best sushi in Dallas! I can no longer go anywhere else for sushi as I will never have an experience this great again. MAKE SURE TO ASK FOR NUKE AT THE SUSHI BAR - you will leave with an amazing experience and a smile of satisfaction that will never leave your face. 5 stars and a definite return customer.

Just when you think you have had the pinnacle of sushi around town, you stumble upon this place and realize that you have been fooled your entire life. The quality of the food here was insurmountable and the service even better. Chef Nuke, who previously worked under Iron Chef Morimoto, prepared my boyfriend and I dinner, omakase (dishes completely selected by the chef). The dishes seemed to start off great and only continue to get even better. Presentation was so stunning, it was almost sad to ruin by eating. I have not had anything compare to the impeccable taste of the various courses in all my sushi eating days. Chef Nuke was beyond personable and funny, making the dining experience worth far more than the price dinner cost. Sushi will never be the same for me, and I will never go anywhere else. I highly recommend you stop by and help make Chef Nuke famous. He deserves it.

Sushi Robata has turned into our go-to Sushi place. It is tucked away in a strip mall and has a nice non-pretensious setting. The food is absolutely amazing and authentic - very consistent and always fresh. We take all of our friends here when they come to town and everyone raves. My son lives in LA and asks to go there everytime he comes home. The sushi itself is creative and has great flavor and the grill section offers many diverse items that are worth a try. We haven't tried too much from the grill because we can't get past the sushi but what we have tried has been amazing. the chicken wings are to die for!

I had lunch with a friend around 1:00 pm and when we got there, it was still busy. We each had a Sushi B and split an all salmon combo. Sushi B was a great combo of fish in the picture below as well as the salmon combo. The pictures really do not do the food justice. Some of the freshest salmon I've eaten. Service was great too. A+

My wife and I enjoyed lunch here on a weekday. The first things we noticed were the modern, Japanese-style decor, the very large sushi bar, and the large number of Japanese patrons (always a good sign.) Service was very prompt and attentive. I enjoyed their Nabeyaki Udon, which was excellent. My wife's side salad was average (too much dressing) and the miso soup was odd tasting - and I've tried miso soup at literally dozens of other Japanese restaurants. She had the salmon sushi sampler. I both our opinions, the fish and rice were average. (Actually the fish was average and the rice was almost deserved a poor ranking for taste and consistency.) All in all, it was a pleasant lunch, and I give it an overall ranking very good because all aspects but the sushi was very good to excellent. But the sushi was not as good as other places we have tried in DFW. I have to assume the sushi we received was an aberration - but maybe not. Caveat emptor.

Sushi Robata make the greatest sushi roll ever ! Never taste such delicious roll and they also have many choices. I went there twice during my short stay in Dallas and the thing is that...I miss this place so much. I got Dragon Roll, Tsubasa Roll and Spider Roll which were all my favorites. We also made a reservation for a special occasion and it was super nice. I highly recommend this restaurant !

Tried out a few sushi places since I was new in the Dallas area and this one is the winner. The prices alone are worth the visit as you'll find lesser grade sushi at a higher price elsewhere in the city. The skewers are also a nice touch. My new go-to spot!

We’ve come here before and the food and service are excellent and at a great price. This time we had to send a couple of things back bc they were too chewy and inedible. The service was still great though. Our waitress was a doll!

Dallas is fortunate enough to have quite a few really good sushi gems but they all tend to be scattered across the metroplex. If you're in North Dallas, there really aren't that many fantastic choices but this is definitely one of them. Best of all - their hot food is awesome!!!! Pros: -Fantastic noodles! Ranging from ramen, soba, to udon - awesome flavor and it tastes like homecooked japanese food. -Sushi is really fresh - my litmus test is Uni and it is damn fresh here -Very affordable - expect to pay around $10 for Beef Gyudon (beef over rice), salad, and miso soup. No need to drive to dallas or fly to san francisco for good sushi anymore!

Sushi there tasted fresh. Service there were nice. Only disappointed to know they dont have Inari sushi

Great food and service. The tempura shrimp and vegetables were excellent, as was the little bit of sushi I had. It was very busy while we were there, making the restaurant a bit loud, but not unpleasantly so. I will visit again the next time I'm in Dallas.

Fresh fish, good service, friendly patrons--a great place to drop in for some sashimi or sushi. I ate at the sushi bar--excellent spider roll and Bakudan Roll.

Great lunch specials, fresh sushi, large menu. My one big complaint is that they refuse to "substitute". I am unable to eat shrimp and when I ask for the sashimi salad with a different fish substituted for the shrimp (1/4 of the sashimi in the salad) they say they can't substitute but can just leave it off. Honestly, if they would say they had to up charge a dollar or two for a different fish, I would happily pay. But they don't even offer. They just say sorry - no substitutions. I find this unacceptable. Every other restaurant I go to (and there are many) is happy to accommodate dietary requests of its customers. It's very disappointing.

Sushi there tasted fresh. Service there were nice. Price is reasonable. No Inari sushi is the only disappointment.

I recieved a gift certificate for my birthday from here. We never used the entire amount because the sushi was really just ok.

We have been eating lunch here several times. Their food is always fresh and delicious. Their service is friendly and good.

I've been on the lookout for a good place to get sushi that doesn't break the bank, and Sushi Robata comes pretty dang close. I went with my BFF and I was surprised of the freshness and the cleanliness (they even handed us a warm towelette like the restaurants in Japan!) I usually get eel-something to judge a sushi joint and it definitely passes. They have a large array of unique traditional and fusion rolls and the largest selection of authentic dishes I've seen at a state-side Japanese place. A+ will return to sample more.

I first found out about this place when we went for a friend's birthday - after she shyly admitted that this comes here weekly. I completely understand why too. I've been back quite a few times after that first trip and I have yet to have a bad experience. The hostess has always been super friendly and helpful, making up for any time we have to wait (this place is always packed on the weekend or near dinner so prepare for it or come earlier!). I really like fish, but I hadn't had any good experiences with sushi until I came here. And now I'm absolutely in love. The service here is always amazing, they always stop to explain how the menu works, and double check to make sure we know what we just ordered if we look confused. The prices are really impressive for the quality of food as well, the restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but it's gorgeous inside and had the food to match.

Got a recommendation to try out Sushi Robata and it turned out to be a good recommendation. They are located in a strip mall and you enter into a traditional Japanese sushi / noodle shop. They had a couple of specials and I ended up ordering a house udon noodle soup and some sushi rolls. Everything was great to include a very flavorful udon noodle soup with egg, chicken, shrimp and mushrooms. The soup was hot and flavorful and very filling. I also ordered a spicy crawfish roll and a real crabmeat California roll. Both were fresh and very flavorful with the the spicy crawfish roll becoming one of my favorites. I left very happy and highly recommend this location to everyone.

Went here last month with my family to celebrate my mother's birthday. The wait staff was excellent, prompt, and nicely suggestive with recommendations. We went with numerous types of appetizer dishes and some sushi. For a group of 5, I was amazed to have our tab under $100. Highly recommend for family and/or small group outing.

I was not impressed and the service was not very helpful. I've never been told that I couldn't substitute cucumber for seaweed/rice at any other place, but this lady wouldn't even ask the sushi chef. I'd go across the street... I was disappointed.

Had dinner with family last night at Sushi Robata. It is situated in a larger strip mall, so there is adequate parking. We started with four menus and ate quite a bit from each one. All were great, serving sizes were moderate, but again, we kept ordering from the various menus. Lots of options to choose from, and were had at least six or seven plates, I really enjoyed the squid, it was well prepared and wonderful. The presentation of all items was great. Would not hesitate to cross metroplex to go back. Highly recommend.

This sushi joint is located in a strip mall and is a little hard to find at first, but so worth it once you do find the place! I love this sushi place. I've been for lunch and dinner and every time, they are awesome. I've had their ramen and udon, which are both very tasty and very reasonably priced. I've had their lunch specials (soup, salad, chirashi bowl and udon) and they all tasted excellent and again very reasonably priced. My friends have tried other things there and they all have great things to say about this place Definitely try this place out when you're in the area... or heck, even if you're not in the area!
Make a Reservation!
We have been eating dinner here 2 to 4 times per month for several years. It is always good--ALWAYS. The ingredients are fresh, the sauces are tasty, the presentation is pretty and the ambiance is nice (elegant without being stuffy or pretentious). We have our faithful go-to items that we always order and they have special items that let us try out new things. The servers will tell you about unfamiliar items so don't be afraid to ask. The service is very good and they have catered to our daughter over the years and helped us broaden her food horizons. At least half of the other patrons are Japanese (a good sign), but we have never felt any less well-treated for not being Japanese. BUT--call ahead and make a reservation. Usually on Friday evenings, I call at 5:30 and make dinner reservations for 6:30 and there is no trouble with availability as long as you call by 5:30. You cannot just show up here and expect to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night. This is excellent food and this place is popular, so just call ahead of time before you go.
