Wow! What fun. Eating fresh sushi and having entertainment of the sushi carousel and the delivery cars. The service is excellent and a value-packed full bar. Go. You will like it.

My wife and I decided to be spontaneous and wanted sushi, so we decided to return to Sushi + Rotary and it was fabulous. Sushi is very fresh, menu was updated with a few more rolls making it more interesting. They've also partnered with Cheesecake Factory for some desserts that looked amazing. We went with the salmon sashimi, tuna taco and a few rolls. Most recommended is the salmon sushi sandwich, we take it every time and it's one of their best. Highly recommend.

Stumbled upon this Sushi Bar while waiting on repairs to be made to my wallet. The Sushi Dishes travel past your table on an endless conveyor. Individual prices are based on whether the plate is White ($1.50); Yellow ($2.50); Green ($3.50); Blue ($4.50; Red ($5.50). I was able to select two different White Plates and tewo different Yellow Plates for a combined cost under $10.00. RECOMMENDED WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!

We had heard about Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar from friends, so on the way home from Mass on a day when the Cubs weren't playing in Chicago, we figured we would try it out. We were lucky and got a legal parking spot almost right in front of the Sushi + Rotary Sushi Bar. From the front, it looks small, but there is plenty of room for patrons and the conveyor system. We were seated at what we saw was seat 44 A & B. Between each seating position there is a yellow warning line that is seemingly to keep you from moving your items. The way that the seating does work is that everyone is next to the conveyor belt, which moves quicker than some that we have seen. However, on the top of the conveyor belt are two tracks with two single rocket shops or futuristic cars (one red and one yellow) that will bring ordered selections out to you, i.e. hot selections. There are two tracks, so everyone has their own side. Each car goes back and forth in to the kitchen when it is signaled. When it comes to your seating position, it beeps and stops directly in front of you, so you can take off your selection. Immediately, in front of you, there is a small IPad type screen which is the interactive ordering device. I think that there were at least 100 selections that you touch and it is brought to you by the car. The server does bring drinks and is definitely there to help you, especially, if it is your first time. For a couple of minutes, we watched the conveyor trying to decide what we wanted. The items on the conveyor belt are clearly marked and in batches with a description card leading the batch. The plates are also colored, so it is easy to keep track of what you're eating and what it could cost. We had the snow white maki and the Yellowstone maki. We ordered the maguro poke gunkan which came on the red car. We tried two different things that you don't usually find. The first were chicken cheese rolls, though I thought that the chicken made it seem "heavier" than sushi in taste. The second was a rotary sandwich which was a squared mini sandwich, For dessert, the creme brulee looked good and it seemed like a large amount, more than you might usually get. There are also kids' selections which come with what you might need if the child is not in to the whole sushi experience. The kids' dish comes in its own little car. They do have a frequent diner's club with a stamp card-type system. The price was more than reasonable. We thought the concept was a lot of fun. All of our selections were tasty. The staff was friendly and efficient. We'll definitely go back, but next time we'll take our grandkids.

My daughter and I had the best time trying various plates of sushi that circulate on a conveyor belt throughout the restaurant. Price, selection and quality were all better than expected. Favorites were spicy squid salad and octopus salad. A few more soy paper options would be a plus. Look forward to going back.

Fun environment and good food! We ordered a few plates of sushi and the sesame chicken. Expect a long wait at meal times but worth it.

I've already been here once in January and didn't write a review, and today has been phenomenal! It's valentine's day and the regular menu is on, with a much higher variety on the conveyer. Sushi is fresh, fish are tasty, simple as that. Highly recommended!

I will start off by saying that I am no sushi expert. In fact I really only eat nigiri. I love the vibe of this place. Serious sushi places intimidate me, but this place is great. I sit down and during slower times I can pick my food off of an iPad that has nice pictures. During dining/busy times I can just watch sushi pass by on the belt. The items on the belt have a description placard explains the dish. My favorite items there are the salmon nigiri the grilled scallops and the seven spice salmon. It can get quite busy here so you may have to wait on evenings or weekends but the place it kept clean and the servers and staff have always been super nice.

Sushi was passable with a few exceptions that were pretty good. You can fill up as you pull plates of sushi off the rotating conveyor belt. Is it authentic Japanese? Umm... creme bulle was a dessert option. Waiting for a table took way too long because of how they decided to seat people. They have a waiting list and whether you are a party of 2 or 4, they pretty much follow the order. If you leave and come back after your name was called, you go at the top of the list. So if you have more than 2 in your party, be prepared to wait for awhile. They will seat 2 people in booths and tables that can hold 4-6 people and there's a limited number of booths. The gimmick of rolling, average sushi is not worth waiting for a really long time!! Go find another place if you arrive hungry with 3 or more in your party.

Tried in the blind & was so happy. Clean, service top-notch, friendly, amazing food presentation & freshness. Would go back again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful place, the treadmill and just great, a very good idea!! Sushi for all budgets!! Typical cocktails are offered à la carte on a tablet. Fast service!!! And pleasant and super friendly staff. I recommend!!!! If you are looking for good sushi, this is the place to go, don’t hesitate!!!

This place took me back to my days of living in Japan. They had everything pretty spot on, even the Asian beer. The sushi was tasty & there was a very good selection to choose from. The service was great and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

We enjoyed their restaurant on Archer so we knew this place had to be equally good. It did not disappoint. We chose the items from the rotary sushi bar and also ordered from the tablet. We had the rolls, some sashimi and a poke bowl. Everything was fresh and delicious. The place is very clean and the service is great.

We visited this restaurant because my partner has never tried conveyor belt sushi and wanted to experience the hype. The service was very friendly and attentive. The food was okay...we enjoyed the lower priced plates (blue, green and yellow) the most as they were simple yet delicious without being overloaded like some of the pricier rolls. Definitely order the soft shell crab. There was a very long wait on a Saturday night during their dinner rush, and we normally wouldn't have waited the hour wait, but we wanted to give this place a try. At the end of our meal, we noticed some food had dropped all over the back of my jacket which stained it with grease. With the way that the seating is set up, it likely came from a plate being cleared by the server. It was a fun experience that we'd only do once.

Sushi + rotary is a great option to eat sushi, everything looks fresh and the prices are affordable, but it will depend on how much you eat. (They have 6 different colors for the plates and each one has a different price, depending on what you select and how much you eat, it can be affordable or not). Their rotary system is fun and they have iPads in all tables and if you place an order they send you the items in a car, it’s super cool :)

Our favorite for trying a lot of little bites sushi. And sushi on a conveyor belt? Can’t be bad! They had a new truffle scallop nigiri that was great!

The sushi is fine. Nothing special. You will probably have to wait in line for it, and then you will grab everything as it comes off the conveyor belt and eat too much. But that is also the fun part, so go for the experience not the food.

This is my second time here. Last time I went was sometime back in August. I didn’t get their fishbowl blue drink item this time but from what I remember it was well worthy the money. It tasted great and got the job done if you know what I mean. As for the sushi, yes it’s not the best I’ve had but it’s pretty good. It’s very reasonable for the price which I like a lot. I save so much money eating here. But I think the rotary aspect really makes it fun. It brings out a sort of little kid wonder and awe as you see the truck coming around for things you order off the iPad or just rotating on the little plates. It’s a fun little game of trying to get the food you want and make a quick decision to grab it before it scoots away. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s a great time for an even better price.

What a really fun place. Sushi delivered on a carousel is such fun. You get to watch and choose what you want and when you want fresh sushi. Be prepared to wait on Friday or Saturday night, but it was well worth the wait. Sushi, speciality drinks, dessert they have it all, well worth the trip!

An awesome experience for dinner with our toddler. Great kids meal options, booster seats and high chairs available, and endless entertainment for our little one. The food was great and our kiddo had so much fun watching the conveyor belt and trucks going by!

The place is fairly new, and they're getting a lot of attention. Be prepared to wait for quite a while if you get there at "rush hour" - good thing is you can grab a drink at the bar while you wait. We got there around 6pm on a Sunday, so not too much wait but still a wait. We grabbed drinks at the bar and waited about 10-15 minutes. Our drinks were really good, although quite expensive. Food is pretty good. As the name states, it's rotary style, so there's a "track" that runs between the tables where the kitchen places the most common dishes. Rolls (basic and creative), edamame, nigiri, some desert. There are also iPads on each table where you can get things that are prepared to order - specialty sushi, sashimi gyoza, poke bowls... the orders come in a separate track, delivered to you in a little car that's quite cool! :-) Service isn't awesome, but not bad either! There's a little button where you can call your server and they're usually quite quick then, but may take a while if you don't push the button (we pushed the button to get our check bu then he'd never come back for it to run the card - and I didn't want to push it again as it's quite obvious I needed the server - no huge deal though, I gave the check to another server that was walking by and he ran it for us). Overall we liked it and would definitely go back.

This is a really cool restaurant. Excellent food, served in a most unique way!! We spent about an hour there and it was a lot of fun, and great food!! If you like Calimari, you HAVE TO order it!!!

This is a GREAT addition to the neighborhood. Fun environment, easy eating sushi, genius iPad ordering system, full bar and not overly expensive! I am happy it is only a few blocks from my house and it reminds me of my time overseas. Love this place!

My daughter and i fell upon the restaurant and was so happy with our find ! It’s sushi gone high tech. You order off a tablet and conveyor belt brings you your food!! Press a button for a server. The food was very delicious too!

My son wanted to try one of those sushi places that served sushi on a belt...and this one for the bill perfectly. Specific orders can be done via the tablet and they do have servers to help out. Food was tasty and fresh. Food waz delivered via the belt and an electric car! The kids loved it. Cant wait to visit again.

I've been here twice since they opened. The service I've received has been phenomenal both times. This conveyor belt concept isn't new, but it seems to be getting popular these days. Most sushi were delicious, I mostly go for the nigiri. Crepe cake is tasty as well. They have a tablet on each table and you can order stuff that aren't on the belt with the tablet. If the ordered item isn't soupy, they'll "deliver" it to your table with a toy car/truck which I thought is a pretty neat idea. Since they don't take reservation, I would avoid peak hours because the wait is no fun. Yelp also has 10% off so don't forget to use that coupon!

Sushi restaurants that use conveyor belts have been around for a long time but not in Chicago. Now there's one in Lakeview. There are booths in the middle of the room surrounded by a U-shaped conveyor belt. Counter seats are around the perimeter facing the conveyor belt. Small plates of sushi and other cold dishes circulate in front of the diners who are free to take anything off the belt and eat it. The color of the dish determines the price of the item on it. Prices range from $1.50 to $5.50. When you are finished the waitress will look at the colors of the dishes in front of you, add them up and give you a bill. So far, it's simple. But there's more. They also offer other kinds of sushi, hot dishes, appetizers, soups, salads, ramen and bento boxes that are pictured on an iPad. You order off the iPad and the order goes straight to the kitchen. When the item is ready, the kitchen staff will place it on a little yellow electric "car" that goes on a track above the conveyor belt to your table and stops. If you don't notice or fail to take it off the "car" right away, it continues on the track all the way back to the kitchen. There are waitresses to explain all this technology and a "panic button" on the wall you can push for help if you need it. There is definitely a learning curve. The sushi was fresh and fairly good for cheap sushi but the fish didn't adhere very well to the rice. The pickled ginger was pink and the wasabi came in plastic packets that were in a holder on the table. We were there shortly after the place opened for the day and a couple of nigiri sushi we ordered were just out of storage and so chilled they made my teeth hurt. The miso soup that came with the bento box was tasty. The green tea was rather weak and flavorless. The $3.50 seaweed salad had a small amount of seaweed on top but was mostly big chunks of cucumber. The restaurant is attractive with wallpaper showing the Tokyo Ginza buildings and red leatherette-covered booths. There are 3 large flat-screen TV's bolted to the walls at each end of the room but the volume was turned off. There was hip-hop music playing over some speakers.

Awesome place if you want to grab a quick bite of sushi. You can reserve a table through Yelp and get into the waiting list. My wife and I have been here at least once a month for the past few months and have always enjoyed it. The cocktails are tasty and generous in size, the sushi is very fresh and can always be ordered from the kitchen if you don't want to take it from the conveyor belt for some reason. Very tasty and recommended!

Real Tokyo style carousel sushi dining. There are cool special orders semi trucks on the upper tracks and below are freshly plated sushi rolls, desserts and more. All clearly priced by the color of its plate it's on. Cocktails are very creative and fun! Servers are extremely efficient and clear seats fast so don't be alarmed at initial wait upon arrival. Everything here is good!
Amazing
We Google this place as restaurants near Chinatown Square. Food is delicious, the staff is attentive, we loved it so much that we visited a second time while on our stay at Downtown Chicago and visiting Chinatown which by the way, only place cheap to buy souvenirs. I enjoyed their food a lot, the staff is constantly coming by to check on you which I love that, the convenience of having the laptop on each table for you to.place your own order and you can continue ordering as you finish each dish, the rotary sushi is great as constantly there is fresh food coming by and you grab whatever you want. The robot train brings the food from the kitchen to your table. Would definitely recommend it.
