Lunch place

By hardiharhar_10 |

Visited Sushi Zushi on a Monday afternoon for lunch. Inside, outside, and bar for your choice. Had Seaweed Salad, and Edamamme as starters; both good. Rolls- Jack Roll, Bora Bora Roll, Rainbow Roll. Can't go wrong with the Rainbow Roll, but really liked the Bora Bora Roll. Service was a little slow, but it have gave us time to visit. Shopping all around, so a great spot!

Awesome atmosphere and sushi creations. Mojitos are a must. Location could be better!

Best Sushi I have ever had

We ordered delivery while on a business trip to Dallas and we got 4 different rolls and the Cosmo roll was out of this world. I have 5 more days here in Dallas and I plan on ordering from there again.

Good sushi in the west village area

By Manek |

I came to sushi Zushi last night for dinner.. I was looking for a sushi place not too far from downtown. We parked our car in the west village parking lot, and walked a bit to get to there. Once there, we were not disappointed. Our server Stefan helped us pick the right dishes. We ordered the miso soup, seaweed salad, razor thin salmon, cayman roll, and the Las Vegas roll. For desert, we ordered the banana haru maki.. Everything was great...would come here again.

Something for everyone

Sushi Zushi is great! Their menu is big enough where you can bring sushi lovers & non-sushi lovers & everyone will be able to find something to eat. One thing I really like about their menu is it tells you what is in all of the Sushi rolls (in case you aren't familiar with all of the different names/types) Besides eating in I've also done pick up many many times. If you save room try the Mochi ice cream, it's delicious!

Best place in United States for sushi

Several locations thruout Texas...my first time at Dallas location...same menu as others...extensive and overwhelming number of choices...tar tar was so so...but amazing was tuna tower, bora bora, dynamite roll. Refreshing flavored ice teas ( in bottles). Highly recommend and that you go starving!

Best Sushi in Texas!

Love the unique menu. It's huge but once you get the hang of it you'll breeze through it. Not a big sushi fan? They have wonderful Japanese/Asian meals as well. The service great and very helpful with menu choices!

Don’t Waste Your Time!

By Steve H |

After waiting for over an hour, we didn’t even have all of our food! We asked several times if there was a problem and received nothing but rude, defensive responses.... not even the manager apologized. The food we did get was very average. TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT!!

Worst Sushi Ever!

By sus |

I am SO surprised to see any positive reviews of this place. I guess those reviewers don't know good sushi! Sushi Zushi is utter DISAPPOINTMENT. I visited for the first time a year and a half ago for a lunch date and swore I'd never come back - sushi was STALE and COLD - as in tasted as if it had been pre-made the night before and left uncovered in a refrigerator. EW! Thats with ordering one of their pricey signature rolls ($17) and a basic spicy tuna. Went again, reluctantly, tonight for a friend's bday party and same story- the party of 10 of us all agreed it was the WORST sushi we had ever had and we wouldn't be surprised if we all got sick tonight - the yellowtail was definitely off. (No - this was not group think as i didn't even tell them I had a bad experience before - I genuinely gave it an honest second chance!) Food took forever, about 45-50 minutes. I ordered the Salty Suzi cocktail and to my dismay it did not look like the picture - as in NO watermelon which hey is honestly why I wanted it in the first place - and it was abnormally CHUNKY. poor bartending skills. Also my fiancé ordered the steak yakimeshi and we were so disappointed to see it come in a bowl the size they serve edamame in. All sushi was not fresh tasting and was highly disappointing. Truly the worst place for sushi, in Dallas and probably the world. I mean it is a great location and ambiance is cool and service is fine but if you care about your stomach and want to be satisfied with a good meal this place is not for you. Spend your money elsewhere. Not worth it.

trendy sushi

By hohutton |

trendy atmosphere, good size menu, little bit pricey, happy hour specials good, service nice...

amazeballs sushi

By her000 |

not to be missed. If only they'd reduce their menu a bit or at least have a "selection of the day/recommendations list" as it can be extremely overwhelming to choose. Other than that, it's great. Good value for money, great service, excellent food, nice location (ok, Southlake isn't in the middle of Dallas but the shopping centre is very decent so you can spend a nice afternoon there)

Kinda bland.

By Echelonokie |

Loads of cream cheese and not much else in the roll. It was within walking distance of the hotel at least.

Great Neighborhood Stop

By MLHDallas_TX |

We mainly come here for a quick bite and drinks at the bar. They are always so helpful with suggestions for new items and for whipping up a specialty cocktail. This is the only Sushi place we have found to have the shishito pepper appetizer that we like so much. You can be as dressy or as casual as you like which is nice for a place in Dallas. They also deliver- but we have not ever used this service.

I LOVE this place!

By mralaninc |

I love love love this place! Every time I go the food is outstanding! They have some sushi rolls that are prepared "normal" and then tempura fried! Those kinda defeats the purpose of sushi but it's crunchy on the outside and melts in your mouth. The service is sorta hit and miss. There is a sign near the front that says "parties of 5 or more, no split checks," which is understandable. I once went and tried to split a check three ways. The waiter, who was great during dinner service, said, "We normally don't split checks, but I guess I'll do it this time," as he rolled his eyes. I work in the service industry and I know how things go. Another time it was a bigger group of us and so instead of splitting the check, we asked for separate payments. This time the story was "our system doesn't allow us to split checks". Hmm...I've worked with many of POS systems and I'm sure it's possible, but I digress. Since then, I've had great service. We ordered a tuna roll that after I took a bite and my date took a bite, we didn't like it. The waiter even took it off the bill. Of course I tipped him as if the roll was still on there! If you go here, expect to spend a little more than usual because 1) it's sushi 2) the more expensive rolls usually taste better. Try something different and get one of the fried rolls, you won't regret it!

Nice restaurant

By ERL972 |

We stopped in early for drinks with friends and they were nice enough to set us at a table so we could easily catch up with eachother. The service by Rungarun could not have been more pleasant, always smiling and checking on us and provided good recommendations. The atmosphere is very pleasant and made for a nice outing with friends.

Best sushi in town!

By Mayra285 |

They have a great happy hour, the bar seating is spacious and nice. If you like jalapeño on your sushi then try the Cristina roll, best ever!!! They carry a great wine selection and their outside seating is great too! Also, the location is great, you can grab dinner and then walk around the shops or the other way around. Date night here is a must, their regular seating is simple and elegant. Make reservations if you plan on going for dinner, but none needed for happy hour. Also, I can't have seaweed on my rolls and they were fine with me asking for soy paper. Usually sushi places charge me $3 to $5 bucks for that request, but not here! I love it, because I really can't help being allergic to seaweed!

Happy hour

By Shamika G |

Visited for happy hour for the discounted prices but didn't know service would be discounted as well. Sushi was okay. I have had better but service was awful. Bartender never checked on us and was very rude. I will not be returning

They deliver! Consistently good.

By TiffanyR |

The selection is phenomenal. Depending on what you order the prices are actually in line with most places in town. Great atmosphere. Good place for a date. Now that we have an infant we love that they deliver. Has saved us several times.

Japan is not only rice

By mkroske |

Ate at Sushi Zushi in Dallas. Very upscale part of town but with a free parking garage close. I order the seared tuna & a small salad for appetizer. The peppered seared tuna was excellewnt as was the nice salad with ginger dressing. Happy hour is from 4 pm to 7 pm with a special roll for each day. I had the California roll with crawfish & chees baked on top. It was very good and full of flavor. Stefan recommended a roll to me also that had tuna & white tuna on the roll with a sliced jalapeno & sirachi. I forget the name but, the taste was very memorable. Stefan was an excellent waiter, kept my table cleared & my drink glass full. Next time I am in town, I will try to make it back to Sushi Zushi

It worth to go!

By Lilichka🔥 |

Nice sophisticated Japanese restaurant which offers great variety of sushi options, other dishes for non sushi lovers but mostly seafood. Sushi were fresh, soup was tasty and flavorful. The most impressive was the yellowtail cheek - perfectly cooked. I was disappointed with the Kapulua roll I ordered for myself as far as I love eel but I had almost nothing inside. I posted a picture of it. It has a pineapple on top. So, instead of guessing go for something that has a picture:)

Excellent Sushi with Great Service

By Les S |

I have gone to this restaurant regularly for several years, usually 2-3 times per month. I have always enjoyed the sushi and the service, especially from our favorite server, Noche. She is a gem and totally dedicated to her work especially her customers. The vibe is fun here. The atmosphere is great. There is room for almost any size gathering. As a frequent flyer of this restaurant, I give 2 thumbs up to Sushi Zushi.

Food was incredible, service was awful

By RSM6300 |

Something happened in the kitchen that night - a staff member left and the service was incredible slow. HOWEVER - the food was incredibly good. Excellent sushi. Fresh and creative. Other dishes were good as well. Also the server comped us an appetizer and dessert to make up for the problems in getting the food to us. I doubt our experience with the slow service happens that often, but the food was truly excellent - once we got it!

Great food, but service a little slow.

By lawguy22 |

We had a very nice meal, the food was great as it always is. Our waiter was just a little slow in getting everything to us.

Soooo Goood

By rebeccabrabb |

My choices were absolutely delicious unfortunately I can’t remember what I got. I would highly recommend!!! Go check them out.

Very good deal for sushi

By sablatt |

The food was very good, especially for the price. The servers were very welcoming. I only dinged Sushi Zushi because the chirashi I ordered was not as good as the one in Austin. For example, there was only a tiny bit of salmon roe, and it was somewhat buried, which broke quite a few of the eggs. Still, this is a nit, and I very much recommend Sushi Zushi for fresh, well-prepared Japanese food at a very good price.

Great quality, great value

By andy19589 |

What a fantastic restaurant. We just stumbled on this place for lunch while doing some quick shopping (it's close to the Lucky Jeans store) and were so happy we did. The menu is innovative and interesting but the food isn't at all pretentious. We're lovers of traditional sushi and didn't recognise many of the items so put our trust in the waiter's recommendations which were just perfect for us. The service was great and the quality of the food was outstanding. Very good value for this kind of quality.

Not the best service

Yummy sushi - love it

By joynceddy |

The sushi is so good! Ask the waiter/waitress for their specialty rolls. There was an amazing one with light tempura on the outside - so good! Setting is nice but the sushi is awesome!

Planners Roundtable

By Rea O |

Met a few local Planners for a business meeting. We ordered off the happy hour menu. Presentation nor flavor impressed us. First Spicy Tuna roll that came out was not flavored at all. It was just the tuna wrapped in rice. They offered to bring us out spicy mayo. We requested they remake it. The presentation and flavor of the second roll was not tasteful at all. Crawfish Dynamite was drenched in crab boil oil. The spicy edamame was good. Overall just wasn’t really impressed with the food. Good Sushi and Service

By Bearded Delight |

The sushi here was pretty good, especially the rolls that featured fruit on them. The tuna here was fresh and the service was very good. Our rolls came out quickly and looked as good as they tasted. The menu here is massive and they offer tools for all types of sushi lovers. Only been here once but looking forward to a return.

Average sushi place

By orlandofoodlover18 |

Very average sushi place. Our pork gyoza were cold. They forgot our edamame. The Godzilla roll was good and had a nice kick, but it was overall a forgettable experience.

It's not a kind of restaurant that I like...

By leguimas |

The service is too slow, the background music is too high and there's nothing special with te food. It was not a good option for me.

Delicious rolls

By Carla O |

I love coming here the food is great and it is not overpriced. All of their rolls are good but I usually get something with unagi or crab tempura.

Awesome sushi!

By stefanie c |

I ABSOLUTELY love this restaurant! The sushi chef treats my daughter and I like special, royal customers. The cozy atmosphere is just as enjoyable as the meal. once you're hooked, you will return again and again!

An on-line order does not arrive.

By Tamura_Michiaki |

I set the on-line order to PM6:00 in this store. It paid $40 with the credit card. Although waited for 90 minutes, foods do not arrive. All will be cut if you telephone. Since it waited for 120 minutes, I had the staff of a hotel telephoned shortly. It is said that the delivery staff of a store does not understand a room number, but foods returned, without sending although it came to the hotel once. I have indicated the room number at the time of an on-line order. When foods were sent immediately, the owner of the store said to the staff of the hotel. He promised that only the ice cream which I ordered was canceled and repaid. Since it said that the person of a store brought foods, I decided to wait. Although waited till PM 10:00, foods do not arrive. I had been hungry. The staff of the hotel was asked again and the store was telephoned. Then, surprisingly the owner of the store said, "Foods were sent." Foods have not arrived in fact. Two or more hotel staff who was in the lobby of a hotel, and the visitor who happened to be present also know it. That foods arrive did not apologize for it having been late, but the owner of the store told the lie. I am not repaid and this store is not sending foods. I had been hungry very much. I was welcomed and sent off to McDonald's by courtesy of the staff of a hotel. I am in McDonald's and bought a hamburger. This store made not only me but the staff of the hotel trouble. I got to know that a store was the personal character which does not carry out correspondence with sincerity. Please take care about this store.

The best sushi in Dallas

By annagevor |

You must try the oak lawn roll, river walk roll and st. Petersburg roll. This place is pricey but great quality and always fresh. We forgot our card after we paid and the stuff did not charge us when we returned the next day even though we explained it was put fault. Great service very attentive team. So far the best sushi we've had in Dallas (and after Japan).

The best sushi restaurant I have eaten at in the country. Frequent patron at these type of establishment. Creative combinations and flavors. Nice soups, salads, and rolls. Very nicely done interior and excellent team.

Loved it!

We had lunch here and loved everything about this place. Great sushi rolls with a huge variety! Also very good and friendly service.

Don't go here

By Dolla Yo |

The staff and hostess of Sushi Zushi were very nice, very friendly and quick about getting me seated. I ordered the seaweed salad and the Chirashi. I like ordering Chirashi because it comes with a really nice variety of fish on a bowl of sushi rice. Sadly, the sushi rice was not good - not flavorful at all. I could barely taste if there was any mirin (rice vinegar) in it - I'm still not certain there was. The fish and the tamago (egg) was not good. The Fish (sashimi) was did not taste fresh. In fact, I actually didn't eat some of it because it had a bad taste to it. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I would stay clear of this place.

Awesome

Sushi Zushi is so yummy! The people who work there are really helpful and friendly. I def recommend the Cosimo Roll.

Sushi Experience

By 2011glen |

Good food, good price, good atmosphere, the music was annoying. Need something a bit more relaxing. Food was Very tasty. The squid salad was excellent. The miso soup was one on of the best the food was timed very well, coming out one right after the other.

Great happy hour!

By Sami G |

Ate here on a Thursday evening. The happy hour prices on the sushi & drinks were awesome! The sushi had good flavor & seemed fresh. But our service was unfortunately pretty awful. Nice guy, just very slow and didn't check on us, and took a good 15 mins just to get our beer. But the food was great!

Great food but inconsistent experience

By Justin G |

Been here so many times and have spent so much, revisited tonight after 6 months because last time menu items were unavailable. Tonight our visit was hell, arguing, items not available again but communicating 30-40 minutes after the order, the quality of food is excellent but the service is not. We were asked if we had a reservation upon visiting with 16 open tables, we could've gone to Uchi for that attitude. They comped but that's not enough, last time they were out of items on the menu, no hurricane. Great food but substandard service it's a shame.

Good Selection of Food and Sake, Happy hour 3-7

By rasillon |

The Happy Hour Specials are a good deal; We ate spicy salmon and spicy tuna maki rolls; they were tasty. I especially liked the salmon maki roll even though I prefer sushi. The decor is good modern pseudo Japanese style. Unlike many sushiya in the USA there was a reasonably good selection of sake at a reasonable price. The Happy Hour Special included two sakes at a nice price but they were the more generic of the selections. We so no Japanese chefs or wait staff. Service was good. Hours are 11-10 or 11-11 with no break. We ate when the competition was closed between lunch and dinner. We'll definitely go again and recommend Sushi Zushi to Japanese friends.

By far the WORST JAPANESE RESTAURANT

By Cilbuper |

Do not even bother with this place. We just came from there practically just a few minutes ago. We waited for a long time for our food and the California roll which should've been out in within 5 minutes took practically 30 minutes! And our food came after 40 minutes of sitting there. The service was so slow and the food was so MEDIOCRE! I ordered shrimp tendon and I was happy this is in the menu because when I lived in Japan it was my favorite. It came out and it was few tiny pieces of shrimp tempura over rice. It was awful. Why put this in the menu when they have no idea what it is? Tendon should be sweet not tempura style. Then I should've just ordered shrimp tempura if that's what I wanted. This place is so PRETENTIOUS, nice inside but lacking in the food quality. Also our spicy salmon roll was awful and we had to send it back thinking it was bad. I just hope we won't get sick from it. Seriously, if you want great quality of food, do not come here and if you want to get frustrated (our family almost had a fight because we were all so tired from waiting for our foods), then come here.

Innovative Rolls with Asian Bistro Vibe.

By Bearded Delight |

Sushi Zushi is trendy yes but it is also very good. Their menu is a bit of a read but again its very good. The fruit inspired rolls are not to be missed as is anything with tuna and Ben's favorite Uni. The service is quick and prices are reasonable.

Best Sushi in Dallas

By WhoDat20 |

I truly enjoyed my dining experience during my trip to Dallas! A friend brought me here for a nice intimate evening, and the sushi and cocktails were amazing.....and the company too! We ordered the Las Vegas, Philadelphia and a Texas stroll roll. We were totally stuffed after sharing edamame, rolls, and cocktails.

Do not order from Uber Eats

By Matt L |

I used to live near Sushi Zushi and walked their often. Love the food. But just ordered on Uber Eats for the first time. Will also be the last. Order is delayed by an hour and counting.

Relaxing lunch stop, fresh sushi

By deathracer |

I had late lunch at Sushi Zushi. Staff was friendly. My meal came quickly, one of the Sushi assortments, $18 mix of 1 role and sashimi. I was expecting the sashimi to be alone, not on rice. The sushi rice was a little coarse for my liking. The sushi itself, although it seemed fresh, it was not amazing in taste. I'm specifically referring to the actual raw fish compared to my favorite sushi restaurant, which I know is getting the highest grades of fish.

So delicious!!!!

By Pamela R |

We really wanted sushi Sunday for lunch and this was the only place open. Boy were we glad of that! Food was simply delicious! Cocktails were divine! I would highly recommend this place to sushi lovers every where!!!

Good location sushi ok

Usually we go to sushi sushi in San Antonio. This time while we were in Dallas we wanted sushi for lunch. The sashimi and the rolls were the same but my husband had stomach problems next day and diarrhea .

Great sushi in Dallas' uptown!

By SuitcaseLawyer |

This sushi place took over from The Fish, a Houston transplant that didn't make it. This restaurant moved from its earlier location on Oak Lawn. The sushi is quite good and the fish is very fresh and has great quality. It isn't the minced tuna spot where they sell questionable fish. It has good appetizers and a good ambiance. It has a nice bar at the front where you can eat, or you can step back and eat at the sushi bar or in tables or booths. Service sometimes can be a little slow, but it is courteous.

awesome Sushi Great Service Must Try this one

Excellent choice for friendship and sushi. Sushi Zushi has a good happy hour and speciality cocktails, it's also priced just right.

Worth a Try

By MaryX479 |

First time, Table for 4. ATMOSPHERE: Modern, upscale, tall ceilings, fung shui ambiance, big windows and standard bar set up. SERVICE: Helpful most of the time. We had a trainee and a few people helping him out so it was a bit overwhelming at times. My napkin was laid in my lap for me. Good suggestions were made and the staff was talkative and really tried to meet our needs. FOOD: Tasty and fresh. The few suggestions made were a hit and miss. We had the "Tower" Appetizer and that was really delicious. The portion size of it was bigger than I had expected. I would be happy just eating two of those. We had few rolls of unmemorable combinations. The only memorable one was the "Strawberry Roll." I appreciate the ambition of trying something different and new, but everyone at the table agreed that it reminded us of Captain Crunchberry cereal - not sushi. Everything else was alright. OVERALL: Nice place to dine once in a while. I've got to say though...they have really cool bathrooms. There is even a running water nature sound to help you go. RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE GUESTS: Don't do the Strawberry roll. But do try the "Tower" found in the appetizer section. RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE OWNERS: One person at a time at the tables please. Thanks!

Good Sushi quite atmosphere

Decent sushi... only if you come for happy hour

By jlnevels |

Sushi was alright but pretty over priced for dinner hours. For happy hour the Philidelphia roll is only $4.00. If you come at night it is $7.00. We had the Philidelphia 4.00, spicy salmon 5.00, Las Vegas roll 12.00 and the dynamite crawfish 5.00. Also a thing of edamame for $32.00 all together. It took over 35 minutes to get our food with only 3 other people in the building for happy hour on Sunday. Plenty of workers around... no explication of the hold up.

Great food

By bizie2 |

We have been here before. I love the tempura veggie plate and their specialty mixed drinks were wonderful. Blackberry mojito and a spicy margharia with paprika on rim?

Extremely basic + bare bones

By FitWhit816 |

I recently relocated to Dallas and asked several friends for sushi recommendations. Many friends recommended "chain restaurants," and one friend recommended Sushi Zushi. As a supporter of local or boutique establishments, I chose to dine here. The staff was friendly and the decor modern. The server had no clue of the "Roll of the Day" and was simply ok. The sushi lacked luster, but the cucumber, seaweed salad with shrimp was quite nice. I'm certain Dallas knows how to do steak...but sushi, not so much!

Outstanding

By Brad B |

This place is fantastic. Huge menu with way too many options made it tough for me to decide but I stuck to the sushi each time I went. Definitely try the Cristina roll if you are into dishes with a little kick. All the food is super fresh and the dessert was to die for. Highly recommended for the Asian food lover!

nice Happy Hour selection with reasonable prices

By JKD |

we popped in for Happy Hour and found many items to suit us on their fairly extensive HH menu (3-7pm, every day) We had some appetizers, nigiri and rolls; our waiter gave us some suggestions that weren't on the HH menu but which were more to our liking. My husband wanted just katsu curry and a beer. The katsu curry was the standard - the katsu was a good portion size and not greasy; the curry was the Japanese style, not spicy. There was enough rice, curry and katsu to satisfy .... The sushi, oddly enough, didn't seem to have any wasabi on them .... of course, plenty was offered on the serving platters ... not sure if this is a peculiarly Dallas or Texas thing, but we've never seen it ! Not a problem; just odd !! The sushi was attractive to look at and tasted good. Happy Hour prices were pretty reasonable - $5.00-5.50 for four kinds of rolls, $2 each piece for three kinds of nigiri. Appetizers were about $4-$5 for edamame, salads, gyoza; seafood or fish apps were a bit more. They have a good selection of drinks and a lot at HH prices. I appreciated being able to get a sake flight at a discount (and got to try something new !) All things considered - reasonably priced Happy Hour and the food was pretty decent. It should do the trick and was enjoyable to share food with friends.

A Feast for All the Senses

By Wilma L |

Calm and spacious minimalist ambiance with subtle beautiful accents. Attentive staff help you select just the right options if you have questions. Everything was delicious, especially the salmon. One serving of fried soft-shelled crab was a little on the chewy side, but everything else was fantastic.

Loved it..

By Bhaskor |

Went there with 3 of my colleagues... ordered 4 different plates and loved them.. the wait-boy explained it well, and though there was mild raw or half-cooked seafood, we could eat all well and digested well! they have good options to chose from, even veg sushi too. also raw beer, which was different (though not best in taste, but they are meant to be like that only)... though i felt it is little expensive .. but worth it.. :-) (as usual, take care not to put big portion of that green spice item they give with sushi- it will give a high but go for mild portion each time. I loved them as it was perfectly made!)

Meh

By Philip F |

Service was slow, appetizer (Salmon triangles) was bland with 0 spice and needed to be drenched in soy sauce to taste okay. My rolls were about average tasting for these hip Sushi places, nothing special. Won't return.

Great sushi

By slaphappy |

This place rocks. Huge menu but my server walked me through it and guided me well. Had squid salad (fresh and delicious), 2 orders of 2 pieces of Nigeri sushi, and a specialty roll (Oak Lawn?). Service was prompt, professional and best of all, tasty - everything. Got out for about $40 imcluding tip and I thought that was a great value as I was totally stuffed. I've paid twice that and been half as impressed. I will be hitting this place every time I'm in Dallas!

All Sushi roads lead to Zushi

By yumyumguy |

There was a time when I ran around town eating at every talked about, high priced sushi place in Dallas. And I have sworn them all off in "flavor" of Sushi Zushi. I've been eating here for at least 4 years and recently returned for my birthday. The mexican/japanese fusion of this restaurant is unbelievable. They have all the staples of a great sushi bar, but if you're just a roll eater you won't go wrong with the following: Christina Roll - tastes like ceviche and is my hands down, all time favorite; Dallas Roll; LIR Roll; Godzilla Roll; Oak Lawn Roll; Mavericks Roll; Diamond Roll. There are many more and I have yet to have a bad roll. Try the soft shell crab appetizer to start with or the tuna tower. I can't say enough about this place. It lacks the pompous, snooty atmosphere of some other Dallas sushi bars which is refreshing. It's not cheap so expect to pay about $100 for 3 people. It's a splurge but so worth it. The service has improved a lot since it opened and I think they've updated the bar area at least 3 times in 4 years. I give it a YUM YUM YUM YUM out of 5 YUMS

Atrocious service - good sushi

By Wille |

Place has good food and is in a very nice neighborhood BUT the service is atrocious! Bad, rude and uninterested staff and then to that a looooooooong wait for everything. 30 minutes for edamame and +45 (still counting) for two rolls. And no, litterally Nono, feeling about this being an issue by the staff. STAY AWAY! There’s loads of equally good sushi places around Dallas down- and Uptown.

A medley of great service, and exceptional food.

Server was attentive, funny, very helpful, and his recommendations were perfect. We started with the Tuna Poki which is delicious enough to make a meal. A nice salad with tuna, sesame oil, daikon, etc., and was perfect shared by 2. Next we had the Escolar Razor - words can't describe how good it was. I know, Escolar is a little scary with the intestinal problems, but it is such a small amount, you shouldn't worry. The fish is buttery goodness. We finished with the Oaklawn roll, which was beautiful, and delicious. The roll was very large, and we couldn't finish it all. Great location, tucked away by World Market. Exceptional quality. Has to be one of Dallas' finest.

Not a huge Sushi fan, but its fun to do, and I respect this place.

Dirty Hands

By EstherEMalone |

This review is being written a few months late; I was so upset with the restaurant that we simply stopped patronizing them. It feels like I've lost my best friend. I have not eaten sushi in months because I do not trust that restaurants truly care about cleanliness. What happened to cause the split with this restaurant that we patronized for years? We went to the restaurant Sushi Zushi in Uptown Dallas, sat at our favorite table and ordered dinner. I went to the lady's room. Another person entered a stall next to mine. I could see her pants draped around her ankles and on the floor. I heard the normal sounds of someone taking care of their business. I heard something being unwrapped. I will not say what it was since I did not see it; however all woman know that sound. We were both in our respective stalls for quite some time; she exited and I followed. That was when I realized she was a waitress. She went to the mirror to play with her hair and I went to the sink to wash my hands. I could not get the water faucet to work...some high-tech novelty. She waved her hand under the faucet unit and the water turned on. I thanked her and washed my hands. She left without washing her hands and I rushed to follow her because I wanted to see what she did next...and was shocked to see that she began servicing her tables, nasty hands and all! That is not why I am writing this review. I am writing this review because I complained to the person waiting on our table. She told a manager, who was running training in the back of the restaurant. I also told another manager who was working the front desk. Neither manager seemed to really care. The front desk manager said something to the waitress and she then put antibacterial solution in her hands and rubbed it in....yes she rubbed the antibacterial into her filthy hands. She kept serving her customers, business as usual. Neither manager came to our table to apologize on behalf of the restaurant. Nor did they ask her to wash her hands. We left and never returned. Yes, the food at Sushi Zushi is tasty. Ask yourself - why?

Spicy

Very good fusion of classic sushi and sashimi with a few Texan flairs. The spicy edemami and and the sashimi with the Jalepeno peppers were interesting.

Poor Service – One Time Occurrence or New Trend?

By 75070KP68 |

Let me start by saying three things.. First, I go to Sushi Zushi “regularly”. As in, I keep their menu in the glove box of my car. And, I have always had a great experience during all my other visits. So, when I was asked to pick the sushi restaurant for a celebratory dinner, Sushi Zushi was my natural “go to” spot. This particular location just moved from Oak Lawn to McKinney Avenue, and this was my first visit to the new location (which used to be the sushi restaurant called “Fish”, by the way). Second, the food here is really, really good. It is NOT the cheapest sushi place in town, but, then again, I’m not sure that I want the cheapest sushi in town! The menu is big – REALLY big – they have an entire section dedicate to “Eel Rolls”, for instance, and the sushi is creative and well-executed. Third, it takes a lot to get me stirred up enough to write a review about poor service. But, this evening, my party endured “a lot” – especially compared to my expectations based on previous visits. In the past the service has always been incredibly attentive without being intrusive. Water glasses “seem” to be miraculously refilled almost by magic, and dirty dishes are whisked away while the food seems to just “arrive”. Assistance with the menu have always been offered in a way that was helpful, but easy to decline, such as, “Have you all been here before, or would you like to hear about some of the highlights?”. It is hard to recognize just how much all of this contributes to the “dining experience” until it all goes wrong! Tonight, however, was about the complete opposite of that. It is also worth point out that it was a Sunday evening, and the place was “quiet” – not “dead”, but certainly there was no reason for any of the wait staff to be stressed out. For starters, I asked for paper to write down our order. We had four different people contributing to our order, tow of whom are not native English speakers, and it just makes things a lot easier. I was given a pen, and told that the server would be “right back” with something to write on. Yeah, ten minutes later (did I mention the place was not crowded?) the guy comes back – almost as if he had never visited our table before and asked if he could “get us anything to start with”. As jokingly as I could, I said, “yeah, that piece of paper”…. “Oh, yeah”, he says, and brings some paper. Well, maybe that offended him, because it then took him another fifteen minutes to come back to the table. During that time, we were looking all around to find him because we were ready to order. Finally we told another one of the staff we were ready to order and they sent him over. That kind of sets the stage… I’ll spare my kind readers the displeasure of re-living the rest of the “experience”, but the low-lights include… When we ordered he would suddenly announce, “That’s my favorite”. Yeah, ok, but at this point none of us are inviting you to dinner, and we’re all wishing that you were not even part of OUR dining experience, so we really don’t care to know that you “approve”. There was even eye-rolling when we ordered desserts until we arrived at “his favorite”…. Water glasses went unfilled for long periods of time, at which point our conversation was interrupted to hand the glasses to the server. We were never even offered refills on our drinks, and the dirty dishes were not cleared between courses. The server was very difficult to find, and at one point out and out ignored us when we were trying to flag him down. One person in our party even stood up and walked over to another member of the staff – AGAIN – to have the server come by our table. Several times, he COULD be seen standing around talking with other staff members. And, then, the double-whammy piece-de-resistance…. The only thing that he was quick about al night was dropping the check almost immediately after dessert, and practically standing there while we fished out our card to pay. Similarly, he whisked it away immediately after signing, and then proceeded to go off to the side and complain to another staff member (on the edge of the dining room) that the tip was not to HIS expectation. Let me tell you, the SERVICE was not to MY expectation, either. Frankly, I was embarrassed, and apologized repeatedly to my associates for the poor service. I really hope that this was an isolated, fluke incident. But, given the price point of Sushi Zushi, I have come to expect good to very good service, and this evening’s service was poor to very poor. If I return, it will be a while, and I will be very hesitant to bring more than one other person until they have restored my faith. I hope that your future experiences match my past positive experiences. It would be a real shame to cross this place off my “sushi-list” forever.

AMAZING sushi.

Had a late lunch/early dinner here. Parking and the Location itself are hard to get to. It wasn't very busy when we went in. The server we had was very sweet and took very good care of us. The sushi was amazing, definitely the best I've ever had. It is a tad expensive, but completely worth it.

"gluten free" claim is false!

By Candina S |

We went here for a friends 40th birthday. I am Celiac and do not often eat out due to gluten. They assured me I would be fine. I should have known when our server was offering to "fry items with no flour" to avoid gluten. I took no recommendations from him and ordered off of their alleged GF menu. Big mistake! It was NOT GF and I was sick for a week.

An Uptown place!

By cuse_41 |

We found the food to be excellent. We had a lovely evening, sat outside. There were a number of choices which we did not recognized so it was interesting to explore this menu. I loved the multiple choices of sake. They had a "sampler" size which I thought was great because I like to "try" different brands of alcohol. The service was fine since we were not in a hurry. When I am in the area again it will be on my list of "go to's".

So glad my first choice was closed!

We happened upon this spot due to my first choice being closed. I’m so glad I got to check this place out as it was fantastic! Service was exceptional, drinks were delicious and the sushi was extremely flavorful!!! Everything was perfect and in such a cute little area! We will definitely be back!

Fantastic Rolls/Excellent Service

By MelissaBL88 |

My husband and I ate here for dinner after failing to get to a different restaurant due to a local St Patrick’s Day Parade. We are so happy our second choice was so good! the sushi chefs were so helpful first answering our questions about the different rolls they put on the serving counter and then offering suggestions on which rolls to order based on our preferences. They have an extensive menu of sushi rolls. Something for everyone both “specialty”’rolls and traditional rolls. Our waitress was excellent. In addition, the floor manager stopped several times to make sure we were taken care of. Overall a highly enjoyable dining experience. We will be visiting again the next time we’re in Dallas

Not so good as in the past

By Betty L |

The sushi place was glorious 3 years ago. Two times in 3 weeks this year was almost empty. Saturday night was packed and that time was almost empty. Not two many chefs to prepare sushi so you have to wait longer time. The drinks are not so good and creative as before. I wish to change a few things in order to be great again.

Not bad but not very good

By muchtravelled001 |

This restaurant is hidden away in a busy open air shopping mall behind a construction site so allow time to find it and park. The restaurant is large and blandly modern. Early on a saturday evening it was not busy and had little atmosphere. The best entertainment came from the manager (?) telling off the assembled sushi chefs behind the sushi counter - not a good idea to tell your staff they are not doing a great job within hearing of paying customers. Sushi was mediocre. A limited range of fish, much of it with a flabby texture that suggested a spell in the deep freeze, and so so rice plus artificial wasabi and cheap soy sauce. An omakase selction should be the chance to showcase the best the restaurant can offer. If this was it then I dread to think what the regular nigiri was like. Service was willing but not very well informed. Maybe sushi in Texas is not a good choice.

Surprised with delight

By Capre2014 |

This place was suggested by my friend for our Friday happy hour. The happy hour specialty drinks were delicious and the price was perfect for my budget. I also experienced the Yakimeshi Rice that contained Teppan fried Japanese rice with eggs, carrots, zucchini, green peppers and onions (I added shrimp). It possessed a taste that I cannot wait to revisit; I placed another order to go. This dish was not on the happy hour menu but was still well within my budget. If your looking for a new spot that offers yummy dishes, savoring cocktail, friendly service, and spacious out-door seating, this is the spot, you will not be disappointed!
