What a different experience from other Zushi Sushi locations. The Colonade location is crowded and dirty. Service is very bad, dirty plates were not removed from our table when new courses were brought out. Server would not be attentive to us. The manager walks around the restaurant doing....I don’t know what, she wouldn’t notice the messy tables. Had to ask for sauces several times. Now the Food....Toreado Roll, sauce was watery, scallops over cooked. Salmon Tower....rice was bad, sauce was bland. This is not the first time we had this kind of experience in this location. Sushi Zushi should consider renaming the place, it gives a bad name to their other restaurants.

Doesn't deserve a 2 rating but can greatly improve. I've known this place since it opened. Over the years, it's gone down in quality and service. Each time a little slower, and a little less as far as taste. I believe they can turn it around though with some attention to detail and some small fixes. For now, it's been hit and miss. I'll give it one more shot, hope it improves. I've been a big fan of it and hope to be one in the future again.

The food was very good. The service was a bit slow, but the restaurant was pretty full. I would try it again maybe for lunch.

We always look forward to going to Sushi Zushi whenever we're in San Antonio. A meal there is always a real treat and never fails to satisfy our need for a fresh, fresh meal. We were in town for 3 weeks and ate there each of those weeks.

I have been a customer of sushi zushi for the past 14 years, eating at the Colonade location in san Antonino, Texas at least 3 times a week. Today, I have decided to stop eating at this restaurant, as I have noticed a tremendous decline in hygiene at your place. Today, the restaurant smelled like sewer, the tuna tasted like it had been frozen for days and to make matters worse, a cockroach was walking on my table next to my sushi roll, simply disgusting. The owner really needs to pay attention to the hygiene instead of concentrating in making money, sacrificing quality. What a shame that such an iconic place like sushi zushi has such low hygiene standards

Wow. One of those unexpected dining highlights From the service..to the sushi creations..wonderful Try the poppers if they are on the menu Take a chance on their signature rolls. you won't be disappointed Casual..unassuming..but don't be fooled this is some of the best sushi you will eat It's a pleasure to write this Tasty-monial

I have eaten here multiple times over the past 2 months while we have been close to medical center. I normally go around happy hour 4-7 because timing just worked great! Hard to beat a $4 California Roll with crab! Yummy! The Beef Sashimi another of my favorite! I have eaten both inside and outside when crowded and still received great service. The manager is always around to check on things! Now when driving into town we try to time it so we can eat here for happy hour!

The only two times I've been to this location has been when I called in an order less than an hour before closing (super rude, I know). They were very thorough with taking my order and didn't seem to mind that it was close to closing. Although my order was not ready when I arrived within the quoted time, I didn't mind so much after they gave me a green tea. Simple things, I guess. The food has been consistently good and the customer service is spot on. All in all, I have been very happy with my experience with Sushi Zushi. Give it a try! Do it!

I noticed most of the positive reviews were from Texans. Being a New Yorker, I might have to disagree or maybe because there are so many Japanese restaurants in New York and easy to know good from bad. Or it may have been a bad evening with the chef on duty. Most of the sushi were bland. I know they were frozen and then thawed out. It did not have the freshness that I know from seafood. I complained to the manager about a particular custom dish with one yellowtail, one tuna, and one "white tuna". Don't ask me what that is. It was not very tasty and it was $15 for 3 pieces. Sorry. Not worth it.

This is the place you must stop if you like sushi and would like to see it done differently and done well. The atmosphere is welcoming as the servers greet the customers with a bellow of "Irasshaimase". And you begin to warm up and feel like this place could be good. At my favorite location you have a nicely arranged dinning room with a small comfortable bar that seats about eight. Whether at a bar or table the service is always good and if you eat there often enough the servers get to know you personally and your order; thus your time from order to served is shortened considerably (which is important for a business traveler). And that's what SZ is all about: fresh, exotic, fun and delicious food brought to you with quickly with care. My favorite dish is a made to order version of the salmon tower a fun dish I have seen attempted elsewhere but not imitated. It contains cubes of salmon atop a cylindrical "tower" of rice and has delicately spread about four different colored roe. Between the rice and salmon is avocado, Tampa Bay sauce, wasabi mayo, some pepper flakes which all combine to delight the pallet. There's also a tuna version. This is to pay homage to the Tower of the Americas, which is its name sake. I love tearing down the tower and devouring its while trying to savor it as the same time. Not an easy task. The menu is extensive nearing an hundred items. You're sure to find something you like and when you do, well, I'm certain you'll be back.

Great FBI roll. So-so service & flaky clientele.

Sushi mediocre. Don't order the Toro! Really bad! Customer service really bad too! After talking to the manager, it was a waste of time. He could care less about customer satisfaction.

me, wife and kids, enjoyed lunch in this japanese restaurant , that has good service, a huge menu with all kinds of sushi in a confort atmosphere and good location. we will be back.

This is such a great place for sushi so many different options on the menu i cant wait to try them all. We definitely stop here every time we come into town.

Fabulous food at great happy hour prices! Loved it! Cucumber martini was fabulous too! Near the Omni hotel and medical district.

This place was so good we went to lunch at it two days in a row!! The strawberry roll and Q roll was the best!

I had the pleasure of dining at this location as I entertained clients. We had great service! the food was fresh and tasty. Everyone enjoyed everything! The men in the back making the sushi were all smiling and having a good time. Great place for happy hour drinks, Good selection of happy hour drink menu...Nice bar area if dining alone.

I️ had a great dinner at Sushi Zushi in San Antonio! The atmosphere was very good and I️ had the Cristina Roll which was a perfect fit to my spicy taste.

First time eating Zushi Sushi. They were out of one of my favorite Sushi treats, Salmon Roe (Ikuru) but no harm. I had the Miso Soup, Rainbow Roll and 10 Pieces of Salmon Sashimi. All very good. I like this place and will eat here again!

This place is excellent! I had a mango sushi roll and the jalepeno roll. AMAZING!! It's nice for a group of friends or a in my case a first date. The atmosphere was very relaxing making it easier to talk with your party. The green tea ice cream was a great finish to dinner.

If your used to good sushi this place is ok. Nothing amazing but ok. It fills the belly. Tempura was a little oily and not crispy.

My wife and I really enjoy sushi and have eaten it on five continents. We had somewhat low expectations for Sushi Zushi, but were pleasantly surprised. We started with the original rolls and while we appreciated the effort, we were much happier when we moved on to the nigiri and sashimi. The fish was very good quality and the sake selection (and waiter recommendations) put this restaurant way above average in my opinion.

Sushi menus typically are a maze unless is your favorite dining out experience. Had the opportunity to visit with a sushi fan which ordered a sample of rolls, and other hard to remember names. The experience was unique as we didn't find one we didn't like. You can even order thiner slices for your roll which makes it more tasty. A must for Sushi fans and others like me, who may become one.

Fresh ingredients. Nice flavors combinations. The chelada mix just excellent. Nice specials at happy hour

Was staying at the Omni so was walking distance to this restaurant. Went there 3 times. It was SO good and great lunch specials.

In SA for the Rock N Roll Marathon, so to be fair, the place was very crowded and they were kept hopping! That said, the sushi was excellent, maybe the best I've ever had. Definitely try the Cristina roll if you like spicy or the Toredor roll. The favors are all very vibrant and the sushi so fresh!

Fast service, super friendly atmosphere, good specials. Can't ask for more. The rolls are definitely worth the price you pay. I have been here serveral times and have yet to have a bad roll. appetizers are so worth it.

Love the atmosphere and consistent quality of food! The riceless sushi roll wrapped in cucumber is my favorite!! The tables in the first dining room are to close to one another for any privacy and wish the bar area had more seating. Back dining room by bar is my favorite seating section

The wait staff here is not very accommodating and when special requests are asked for they smirk, shake their heads and whisper to other staff. The General Manager should not be allowed to run a restaurant. He made excuses for his wait staff instead of correcting the problem. Try Wasabi on I-10 instead, better sushi and fresh.

I use to visit all the other Sushi places in the area then stumbled on Sushi Zushi. Beats all of them hands down as well as most other Sushi restaurants in other cities around the US. Why can't all just be like Sushi Zushi? There is a reason this place is packed on weekdays! I ordered the Chirashi Bowl, which is a layer of sashimi sampler on a bed of rice. Was freakin awesome. I also ordered the Philly Roll. I also love the craft sale there. Go at happy hour of possible. Everyone I take here says this is top Sushi. And most stop going to Wasabi, yellowfish, and Fuijiya after one visit at Sushi Zushi. I come here mainly for sashimi, which requires it to be very fresh to get my 5 star rating.

I loved that place, the service is grate and the food is even better I am recommending Miso soup and the avocado muki

As others have said...over priced and not the best sushi. We have done delivery to our house a few times, and then tried the restaurant. When we did delivery, we did only 1 or 2 rolls with yaki soba noodles and other dishes. Those are all pretty good..but still overpriced. But for me, being in the restaurant has turned me off completely. I thought our server was pushy about certain items. Some of the fish when we went tonight really was tough/chewy. Do not think we will be back.

I went with 6 other people. The sushi was really fresh and rich. The place is in the downtown. Good prices and easy to get it.

The menu keeps expanding, the various rolls are very creative, the choice of wine and beer (and of course the Saki) is extensive, the service includes well informed suggestions, and there is a pleasant buzz about the place. And to top it all off, the food is delicious. Our group had tempura, shabu shabu, spicy rolls, New Zealand wine, Japanese beer, and a lot of fun. Combined with reasonable prices, this is a recipe for success.

I LOVED the staff! Very friendly & attentive. However - my salad was more on the wilted side. The sushi was very very good, most of the rolls tasted very fresh.

Took my daughters yesterday and we were very disappointed of the quality of the rolls and service, order edamame's were cold the second were very salty the sushi rolls were falling apart we just had a bad experience for the price.

Oh, and the cucumber sake drink. Really, those two items deserve five stars in of themselves. The bartenders are usually pretty funny here. Not fancy, but fun.

This place is buzzing with people and the reason why is because they are good. Good food, decent service and I say this only because they are busy due to which at times you have to wait for quick turn around. Open kitchen which is nice and reminded me of days in Japan.

Sushi was fresh and our server was very polite and efficient. The only complaint I have is that the menu is very extensive and a little overwhelming as one thinks that they can not possibly make some many things excellent and you try to decided which ones you will really enjoy how it is prepared. Luckily, what we ordered was great and we really enjoyed our meal. If you go there expecting an experience like being in Japan, then please do not go. If you are looking for nice servers in a relaxing environment and enjoy sushi that is better than average, then this is your place. If you are looking for sushi around the riverwalk area, then this is without a doubt the place you need to go.

A friend has raved about this place for awhile so she met us there tonight and it was fantastic. We shared the LIR, Bora Bora, and the Cosimo. They were all delicious but the Cosimo was absolutely fantastic!

Sushi Zushi is at the top of the list of eateries to visit when we are in town. The menu is incredibly extensive and caters to all moods and tastes - you can be as mainstream or adventurous as you like. A standout for me was the crab salad and the salmon rolls but really, you can't go wrong. The atmosphere is relaxed and the servers are friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. The wine list is good and the cocktails are awesome with great happy hour prices. Highly recommend.

While on business I went to Zushi Sushi two nights in a row, it was that good!! Their selection of rolls is amazing and they have something for everyone. The menu is over 10 pages long, so it can be a little intimidating and difficult to decide what to get. After reviewing it for about 10 minutes we decided to just "go for it" and pick things that looked good. Everything was fresh and delicious. Their Monterey Roll was one of the best rolls I've ever had and the Spur's Roll had a nice cilantro taste to it. We also ordered a variety of nigiri and sashimi and, again, it was fresh and tasty. The place was packed, which I took for a good sign, but it does mean you may wait a while. The second night I went we ordered a couple of appetizers (sunomono and Gyoza) which both were yummy and came out quick. A good way to tide you over until they get to your food. The only ding I would have is that their rolls that had "three peppers" indicating that they were spicy weren't as hot as I would have expected. But a little extra wasabi took care of that :-)

We ate in a sushi place over in the Quarry that was mediocre compared to this place. I ate at the one in the Colonnade, but they also have a location in the Quarry. The sushi was fantastic! Plus they have a great happy hour. I ended up eating there 2 nights in a row because I liked it so much. I would highly recommend.

I walked over here while staying at the Omni down the street. I was dining alone so I sat at the bar. Service was quick, the food was pretty good. I mean, this is Texas so sushi isn't to die for, but it varies from palatable to on par with the coast. I would say the quality here is on par with the coast. There are a ton of rolls to choose from but I don't think you can go wrong. I would eat here again.

We live a few minutes drive from this shop and have eaten here often during the last ten years. Our experience has been uneven in both the way sushi was prepared and the service at the table. We had excellenbt meals, but a few times we wished that we would have settled for more conventional fare: McDonald's anyone?

Not a place for kids - but everything here is good.

OK sushi at an inflated price. Nothing special about this place.

We have dined here more times than I can count and we have NEVER been disappointed. I have reviewed this location on several occasions but this particular visit was review worthy once again. If you are in the mood for ridiculously fresh sushi - this is your go-to place and ask for EMILY'S section... She is the primary reason for this review - Her attention to detail and her knowledge of the menu made our dining experience most enjoyable! Highly recommend the unfiltered sake (the one that tastes like a pina colada)! Thanks Emily - hope to see you the next time we dine here!

We had an excellent pleasant server today! She was a treat. Our food was good , never disappointed . The women's bathroom needed a good cleaning though. Yuck

Gone bad, I used to love this place, it’s has gone way down. We had giant clam and were sick all afternoon.

very good place for Sushi. the rolls are good, so is the sushi by the piece

Very nice atmosphere, busy, friendly, upbeat with young people and families. Staff were all very friendly and the service was prompt. But the food was not up to par with the noted exception of the seaweed salad that was fresh, crunchy and tasty. My Spider Roll was almost unrecognizable as it appeared to be mostly rice with a cold hard fried thing in the center. No distinctive softshell crab taste and other expected ingredients. When I tried the final end piece that had a shrunken stub of a fried item, it was cold as if it had been brought out of a refrigerator. That it clearly wasn't recently cooked explained the off tastes I noticed. This is the second restaurant that added a large dollop of a mayonnaise sauce on each piece which I've only seen on Spider Rolls one other time and I didn't care for that addition then either. The two appetizer rolls came to the table after the dreadful Spider Roll and they were similarly tasteless except for the wasabi taste and soy sauce I love to mix to dip my sushi pieces into. I wished it stopped there by I had also ordered their combination Fried Rice bowl as it was highly rated and described in another review and I love good fried rice. It had nice pieces of chicken, beef, and shrimp generally spread throughout. But, the rice had a slightly off burnt taste that I didn't care for. More like burnt pan than spices and I couldn't finish the bowl. I must say in all fairness that the Hostess did come by and ask how everything was and I only replied it was fine. I didn't give them the chance to address my complaints, so that fault lies with me. I just didn't feel like making an issue of it tonight. I can't say that I could recommend this restaurant or that I ever plan to return when there are others that I know I'll enjoy here in San Antonio.

I love this place. Both in restaurant and delivery are awesome.

Great food, great service, great price...what else is there to say. Got there while taking a walk from the Omni and it was the "Happy hours"... complementary soup, salad... smiles and happiness included Took the korean beef... very good!

I came to this location yesterday to have lunch with my friends before a concert with pretty high expectations because the location at the domain in Austin is awesome, however my experience at this location in SA was not a good experience due to the poor service we received. I've never had to wait over an hour for sushi for 4! Especially on a slow night! While waiting i noticed everybody behind the bar working was chatting and not really working either. Our drinks (water!) never got refills throughout the whole time we waited. she had short short brown hair, very unprofessional young lady. Never once mentioned her name OR apologized.

Really enjoyed my dining experience here! A lot of great options, and it is all great quality. Our server was new, and had a really great attitude while getting slammed.

every sushi roll i have ordered, based on the recommendations of the waitstaff, has been excellent and tasty.....the white wine is an added bonus....now, i only wish i could use chopsticks. don't be shy and don't be boring and keep ordering your favorite and the same order all the time! be brave and daring and try something new each time you go.....

I love the quality and consistency of Sushi Zushi in all of their San Antonio locations. When in town there is no better sushi place than this one if you want both quality and quantity. Keep it up guys!

Wait staff recommended the Champion Roll along with a Spicy Tuna Roll. Excellent recommendations. The restaurant quickly accommodated our hour long lunch break while visiting the area on business. Would eat here again...

This is a great place hidden in a business/merchant strip mall. The food was great and the menu expansive. I found food choices here I haven't seen in more metropolitan areas. It was busy on the Tuesday evening I was there and getting the check took a while but since the food was so good and I was in no hurry I did not mind. Definitely check this place out if you are in the are all!

Food furniture in very poor condition, it smells bad and my husband got a cockroach and my son got a hair inside the roll and the price was very high for what they offer this was at COLONADE shushi

We love to go here for their happy hour Sushi..My favorite is anything with crawfish and tempura shrimp. I am not great at sashimi but I love cooked sushi. I will try almost anything.

The restaurant is hidden in amongst the colonnade maze. Very clean. Prompt and friendly service. I tried a crab appetizer that was fabulous. The sushi was really some of the best I have had.

We can here for lunch from a convention at the Omni and the walk was very easy. Possibly a two minute walk from door to door . The lunch menu was reasonable and came with soup salad and your order . I ordered the bento box And it came with a little of everything . I was disappointed in the tempura fried veggies but everything else was excelled.

Nice resturant, okay staff and okay food. I have had original sushi while visiting Japan and this is not the place to get it if you are looking for that authentic taste. But if you want Americanized sushi, this is one of the better places. Service is hit and miss too, sometimes they do an excellent job, sometimes, we wonder if they know we are here. This holds true for both the 1604 location and the one on IH-10 West location.

We love this place! The fried rice is amazing. They have some excellent cocktails! Tip: Order the Combo Tokyo (it's a non-menu item). It's a lo-mein dish with chicken, steak, and shrimp. Absolutely delish!

My wife and I dined at Sushi Zushi on a Thursday night. We have dined here many times and we always enjoy the food, but sometimes it takes a little too long to get the sushi prepared. We will continue to visit but we hope the food will be prepared quicker next visit. Staff and bartender were superb!

We stopped in at Sushi Zushi for happy hour and got a great treat. The rolls and drinks on the HH menu were delicious and priced excellently. Will definitely be back when I'm in San Antonio again.

Service was really slow mid-afternoon. My husband said his curry was more like brown gravy on rice — not very flavorful. I thought the sushi was good but on the pricy side. We’ll probably try someplace else next time!

We stopped for lunch on the day after New Year's. It was busy for lunch. This was our first stop at this chain. The service was attentive but at every opportunity repeatedly our server was trying to up sell us to appetizers, sides, appetizers, desserts, desserts again, Sushi to go...We would have better appreciated additional wasabi. They did have a gluten free menu with options clearly labeled. We tried the sushi plate and rolls and a Japanese Curry. It was good but it was only a sauce with rice. There were no vegetables or meat and that was strange. It was average. For a lunch they should have at least offered a combination with Miso or a salad. The sushi place closer to our home offers a great sushi lunch with larger portions and just as tasty with a side for lunch. We were disappointed that there was NO military discount. One of the few places in SA we've found that does not offer a discount. Not worth the drive across town. We will stick to the place closer to home.

Came for a work lunch and was a great experience. We had a 10 top and they accommodated us, no problem. Apps were pretty good - shishito peppers, dumplings and spicy edamame. Quantity was wonderful for the peppers. I snagged the spider roll and the Vegas roll and both were great. My sweet tea was REALLY sweet and a bit much, but it was nice they offered to-go tea, no problem. The place was clean and our server was wonderful! Really nice experience overall!

The sushi was okay, but the miso soup was way too salty. Not the best sushi place if you want quality.

Service was excellent and very attentive. We enjoyed everything from apps, drinks, soup, Shashi, to sushi rolls. We had a large group and everyone loved what they ordered. Definitely adding this place to a San Antonio must.

I love this restaurant. Their menu is excellent and their prices are ok. The quality of the food is good and the seafood is always fresh. The place is nice and parking is easy. Their staff is fast and friendly. I am definetely going back!

My husband and I are regulars at this particular Sushi Zushi location. We mostly have take-out, but we have dined-in too. We have been totally satisfied with the quality of their food 100% of the time. If you like Salmon Sashimi, I highly recommend their Salmon Tower, it is utterly delicious!

We were in San Antonio for 6 weeks for medical reasons. Driving around a big city is challenging when you don't know the area. We tried to find places to eat that were easy to get to without getting on a freeway. Many time we passed Sushi Zushi as we left our hotel never thinking anything that close would be any good. We finally tried it and to our surprise it was a real treat. I love raw sushi but because I just had major surgery, I didn't dare eat anything raw. They don't have a sushi bar that you can sit at and watch the chefs (they are out in the open but you have to stand to watch them), but they do have a small separate bar where they will serve you if like us you don't like a table. I had very rare razor shaved beef tenderloin, fried soft shelled crab and eel sushi. It was excellent. I also started with a coconut mojito and then we had a bottle of wine that was under $20.00. If you are a sushi aficionado as I am, this may not be the place for you. The sea urchin is not right from the shell, and the raw sweet shrimp is not alive before they prepare it. As I said, I never tried anything raw so I can't say. However, the place is always busy and their prices very reasonable especially during happy hour. We went there several times during our 6 week stay and plan on going back for more in a few months from now.

I ordered the sushi sampler and the "o-toro" sushi and the salmon sashimi. What went wrong: they first reported to me they were out of toro, about the time they were delivering my sushi sampler. Not good timing. Then as I was eating the sushi sampler, the waitress came back and said, oh we found some. Yes - left me skeptical. So next I say, great - send it my way. When it came, the cut was "longitudinal" as opposed to cross-ways. (I think those who have had toro sushi know what I mean). I ate it and it was stringy - but I ate it. I then mentioned to the waitress that I'd like the salmon sashimi - and oh, by the way, the toro was not cut to my experience. She apologized, the manager came and apologized, and they took it off my bill. Then when the bill came, I noticed (again, reluctantly) that my saki was charged at the non-happy hour rate. So they removed it completely from the bill - to which I did say I was not looking for a free saki, just the correct price. Anyway, they were having none of it - and gave it to me for free! So what is there to complain about???

Met our daughter for dinner had edamame and potstickers as appetizers. Ate various sushi rolls for dinner; all were excellent. I asked for extra ginger and I got EXTRA GINGER. All the wait staff had great attitudes and were very helpful. The Manager dropped by to check in on us....nice touch! We’ll be back!!

A great place for amazing sushi. They also offer some stir fry and soup options for the non-sushi lover. A fantastic meal that pleases our entire family. The specialty rolls and tuna tower are my favorites. I also loved the agadashi tofu when I'm not in the

The staff are most friendly and welcoming while the food is superb! We tried several sushi rolld along with appetizers and an entree- All we found to be of high quality. The Boston Roll (light on the cream cheese) is extremely yummy and proved to be our favorite as well as the Katsu Curry which is rich and warm much like comfort food. We also devoured the All Vegetable Tempura, Edemame, The San Antonio Roll, Miso Soup and Machi for Dessert. The menu has an impressive selection of Vegetarian and Gluten Free options available. Beer and Wine selection also is quite good. Prices are very reasonable as well. Can't wait to return and try some other items!

My friends and I went to Sushi Zushi around 900pm on a Friday for a few drinks and sushi rolls. I half expected on the drive over that it would be packed and we would be unable to get a table but I was pleasantly surprised as they seemed to have expanded to a neighboring store front and had open tables. Our server, Ryan, was knowledgeable of the menu and was able to recommend rolls and sake in our price range. His recommendations were spot on and we enjoyed every aspect of our meal. The restaurant was a little noisy and the prices were a little high.

I had the miso soup and Bora Bora Roll. The roll was just the right amount of spicy. Presentation was great and they added sauces to the bag. I highly recommend this place!

Good ingredients, crowded place. Reservation needed. Slow service. When in San Antonio and in a mood for sushi, this is a good place

Some of the best sushi I've ever had! Wait staff was fun and had a great attitude! Highly recommend a visit.

This is a great sushi place that you must try. Delicious variety of sushi and artistic desserts. Love it. They also offer delivery and your deliveryman rides a cute white beetle. It is fun to see them drive in with your awesome food!

Big menu with a wide variety of rolls. Had the chirashi and the tuna tower, both were great, fish was very fresh. The restaurant was busy, service was good, both food and drinks were fast. Would definitely go back.

I used to eat a SZ seven times a year -- we hosted banquets at a nearby hotel seven times a year, and this was my dinner-in-place-of the banquet meal. I never had a bad set of sushi. I live in Japan now (Okinawa), and eat sushi and sashimi more than once a week. I'm not a big fan of the Kaiten-zushi (sushi-go-round), so I tend to mom-and-pop walk ups. Although SZ can't compete with my local Okinawan treats, SZ more than holds its own against a-n-y Kaiten-zushi on Okinawa (and in my experience, on the mainland). You may not find the depth of choice at SZ but the quality and inventiveness in choice more than makes up. I find SZ is the second best sushi house in SA, behind Koi Kawa (original Broadway location) only because KK reminds me of the mom/pop Okinawa walk-ups. ymmv.

Have eaten here many times and have NEVER had a bad experience! The Chirashi is fantastic! Every Signature Roll we've tried has been excellent and very fresh! Great ambiance as well. Would definitely recommend.

Not what you would expect to get for the price of your meal. The host didn’t know how to do her job, that messed everything else up. It took a very long time to get a chief to cook our food. It was unbearably cold. No manager to help any of the employees.. if a problem occurred. Our server was stretched too thin with our table and the huge party behind us. The host as soon as we sat & our service was slow and i wouldn’t go again.

Try The Riverwalk roll if you want to forgo the rice! The menu actually has several options for low-carbers! The waitress we had was helpful. Very good sushi nice atmosphere friendly waitstaff.

Good atmosphere. Good food. Always an easy place to walk to from the Omni hotel, too. It’s a place I know will always be consistent with serving good food.

First off, how can you not love the fusion between Japanese, and Mexican cuisine? Beautiful seafood accompanied by spicy jalapeños and Serrano peppers... Awesome! I’ve been dining at Sushi Zushi’s for about five years, and it has earner top place in my weekly dining experiences. San Antonio’s Sushi Zushi in the Colonade is a constant for this spicy sushi lover. This is the original location, and while not as fancy or spacious as some of the other locations, it is by far the best. The way the food is prepared beats every other Sushi Zushi location in San Antonio, and Austin. The portions are larger, they seem to take pride in how they prepare their food, and the presentation is on target. The other locations just don’t seem to understand that when sushi is presented to the diner, it is meant to be appealing to the eye, and the palate. To check to see if my location preference was warranted, I’ve ordered the same thing at all locations, and the Colonade location just beats the rest. The servers and bartenders are genuine and go out of their way to be nice to their guests. This is why I return to this location on a weekly basis... even if it is many miles from my home. Their Happy Hour cannot be beat. It runs from 3-7PM daily, and the beer is ice cold! If you are a sushi lover, I highly recommend that you stop by the Colonade “Zushi’s”, and try it for yourself. It’s good stuff my friends!

Whether its Happy Hour or not, we like this place. The food is always good and they have lots of options. Sushi and cooked dishes they offer a lot to choose from.

We did not reserve a table and were seated right away. Casual but very friendly service. The waitress was helpful in ordering. They made some changes tot he sushi we ordered. Would recommend highly.

Had a great time experiencing very unique and authentic Japanese cuisine . Service was great and so was the ambiance .

Great Service, awesome Sushi

The weather was nice, we ate outside. The server was super attentive. Food was fresh and tasty. The best Miso I've had in San Antonio area. Bento boxes are great value. Seaweed salad was good as well as tofu. Gold star dining. The actual place is super small a bit dark inside unlike the other location I've tried, but well worth the drive. The food is excellent along with the service!

Servers are super nice and relaxed. Menu is huge, non-traditional Japanese is tasty. Sake menu is good. The 'tower' was tasty and very mayonnaisey. Classic nigari zushi not so hot. Fish is not impressive, too much rice, the rice is quite hard and not very refined. Stick to the rolls and other invented dishes. I used to live in Japan and am used to East coast sushi joints. This is good for Japanese themed food but if you are looking for really good sushi/sashimi not your best bet.
Juicy Sushi
The title is because it's so hard to say "Shushi Zhushi." Susan and I are old (well I am) and we've been married about 15 years, so instead of insisting on the romance of a Valentine's Day dinner, with all the crowds and bustle, we went for a day-after-Valentine's lunch. We were seated immediately by a bright sunny hostess, and our server, William, appeared promptly. Susan ordered miso soup, then some kind of sushi with shrimp and lots of other stuff (Cosimo). I had tempura shrimp and rice. All was very good, with a friendly server who put up with my hijinks, a pleasant décor, and easy-going vibe. Susan wants to go back, and though I'm no sushi aficionado, I'll happily accompany her.
