Daughter's Bridal Shower

By Sababaeema |

Afternoon was delightful. We sat above the street w/open view Windows. Facility is quaint, bit old fashioned w/lots of real southern charm. Staff was accommodating & place was easy to find. Only drawback is not having enough parking inside the property.

Charming Southern Experience

By theindianatraveler |

My husband and I had a lovely lunch yesterday at the Swan Coach House. He had a delicious burger. I had the signature chicken salad as well as their wonderful shrimp salad. The frozen fruit salad was a step back in time -similar to one my mother used to make when I was young. Sadly neither of us had room to try one of their tempting desserts! The atmosphere is definitely a slice of Southern charm. Service was very attentive. Visited the gift shop afterwards and found the perfect gift for a friend’s upcoming special birthday. All proceeds from this venue go to the Atlanta visual arts.

Wonderful experience! Delicious food!

By A H |

I was visiting Atlanta and took my daughter and granddaughters to the Swan Coach House for lunch. It was a truly memorable experience! The venue is lovely and the dining room was superb. Our servers were friendly and professional. My granddaughters are 9 and 12 and they had a wonderful time. The hostess brought each of them a chocolate swan when she found out it was our first time there -- a great touch! We soon had a basket of assorted breads, rolls and real butter. The banana bread was divine! I enjoyed chicken salad in pastry bowls and was pleasantly surprised with the frozen fruit salad. It tasted almost like frozen yogurt with frozen pieces of fruit in it. The presentation was lovely! For dessert I had the swan - very sweet but quite delicious. There is a gift shop and art museum attached - so after lunch we wandered around the shop before leaving. The service was fantastic the linen topped tables were beautifully set and the food was excellent. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon with the girls! We did get a "to go" meal for my son in law and he loved it! So, it is a place for guys too!!! If you are in the Atlanta area --(It is actually in Buckhead) I would highly recommend this dining experience! It does seem to be very busy - so reservations would probably be a good idea -- They have free valet parking -- take advantage of it because parking can be very crowded -- A tip for the valet is optional -- but much appreciated!

Conflicting Phone recording and Matradee related reservation

By Helen |

I had gone to the website to check if reservation were required for Saturday lunch and to check on the dress code. There were no information on dress code. I call twice and the recording stated only party of 8 that would required reservation. When we got there, I felt we were dress too casual as we had brought family from Miami to visit this historic place. I asked the parking attendant if we were under dress and he said we were fine. Got to the reception area, the maitre d' asked if we have reservation? I had informed him what their phone recording stated that only party of 8 that we need reservation. He then informed me that he changes the phone message daily and it does require reservation. At the moment, I didn't pursue further and left. My niece call the phone number to double check and it was the exact same recording stating only party of 8 required reservation. A part of me left annoyed and wonders if there were some bias toward us Asians and being under dress and not wanting to let us in? The restaurant did not look totally full. We ended up at Nikko Bistro instead and it's just a pity that with all the wonderful reviews from Swan Coach House, it lacks poor customer svc on the maitre d' not to even offering further advise or a chance to possibly a reservation for future visit.

LOVED this place!

What a charming place to eat. It's got 3 levels, but also an elevator. The food was priced right, quantity perfect and absolutely delicious. I wish I would've had the opportunity to eat here more than just once. Highly recommend.

Conference in Atlanta

By ewhite1955 |

I hosted a conference in Atlanta & part of our tasks was activities & lunch for our wife's. They had lunch At Swan House & came back raving about the experience.

Fabulous staff--food notsomuch!

By GO_timbuktuorbeyond |

My daughter and I took our 4 grandchildren (5-7) to the Swan Coach House for a special lunch before visiting Macy's Pink Pig. The experience was one that does not to be repeated. One of the items we ordered was a hamburger for two of the kids. It was barely 1/4" thick and burned so that by the time we scraped the burnt parts off both sides, there was virtually nothing for them to eat. The rest of the food was so-so, but did nothing to entice me to return. I will say that the staff were wonderfully welcoming and cordial. Nonetheless, I won't be going back.

The Bridal Shower

By Sababaeema |

The food was scrumptious and the décor was stunning on Sally's Porch; very Southern style. Our waitress was delightful and very accommodating. She even took pictures of the group out on their veranda. I would recommend the Swan Coach House to local family and friends and perhaps consider hosting an event there myself.

Lovely lunch experience

By CityMouse29 |

I had a lovely lunch here. The restaurant is so pretty, and it is next to the Swan House and the Atlanta history Museum. Two places you should visit if you haven’t. My waitress was Ava, and she was charming, attentive and friendly. I had the soup to start and a sandwich for my lunch. Both were delicious. They serve tiny little muffins, I love that. I also was lucky enough to go upstairs and look around at the event facility. It is beautiful and in my favorite color green. This is a wonderful location for a baby shower, bridal shower, or even wedding. I think men and women will agree, this is a consistent, great place to take friends and family. The food is delicious! Compliments to the chef.

Beautiful Baby Shower!

By BeanieMountainTop |

I hosted a baby shower for my daughter & Swan Coach House was the perfect venue! Jonathon, the General Manager, was fabulous & helped me with the details as I planned from out of state. His recommendations as to the room and menu were wonderful. Blake the server made sure the time line flowed beautifully & the service was excellent. The food was delicious, we had the Swans favorite luncheon & dessert. The valet attendants even helped with our boxes upon arrival. I highly recommend this wonderful venue! The Staff are fabulous: food delicious, lovely ambiance & your guests will be raving about the event!

Very nice ladies lunch!

By Julie Alexander T |

Setting. I met two girl friends for lunch. One was late because of traffic. They never rushed us nor did they forget us. Service was excellent. Decor is elegant and lighting perfect. This is a intimate quiet restaurant tucked away behind the Atlanta Historic Museum. Complimentary valet parking. Food. I had the ice tea and sample salad plate which was included classic chicken salad, dill shrimp salad and tuna salad each served in a heart shaped pastry shell with fresh fruit and cheese straws as sides. All were salads and sides were fresh and perfect. As was the tea. We split a key lime pie desert which had a delightful gram cracker crust. The drink menu was inviting. Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with girlfriends. I’m looking forward to returning for high tea over the holidays and trying the pimento tea sandwiches.

Ladies that lunch!

By GBWeible |

Took my mom today for lunch. We very much enjoyed ourselves. My mom kept saying 'this is so nice!' We both had the soup and tea sandwiches with cheese straws. All of it was very good. We shared a slice of key lime pie for dessert. Yum! FYI - the AC was blasting which made my mom cold. Bring a sweater if you're so inclined.

Charming

By aTriguy |

We had a very pleasant lunch with family including our 4 year old niece. It was our second visit to this restaurant located just off West Paces Ferry Road in the swanky Buckhead area. Soak in the ambiance, take some extra time to enjoy the gift shop located within this historic home and just soak in the southern charm you gotta love! Oh, and the food is really good too!

Southern Hospitality!

This is the perfect location for a bridal shower. The staff did a wonderful job. The food was delicious. Book early then sit back and enjoy the party!

Wonderful for a quite late lunch

By NurseSherry |

I took my SO here for a quite lunch because I was tired of his complaints about all the noisy unsupervised children at the Museum and the Swan house. It was 2pm and the place was blessedly quite. Our waitress was there in a flash and we had a calming glass of wine and wonderful small rolls and some type of fruit bread. We started with the mushroom soup which was some of the best I have ever had. I had the portobello roll which was spicy but good and SO had the chicken salad which he was quite happy with. They close at 2:30 but we noticed they seated a women that came in just before 2:30. Good service, good food and nice atmosphere put the world right again. We checked out the gift shop then finished our day with a nice quite stroll around the grounds.

Remember to stop by the gift shop!

By creativecrew |

We had a lovely afternoon at the Swan Coach House. The gift shop has unique items and the purchases from this nonprofit shop go to support the arts in Atlanta! Bought a lovely coat (right off the mannequin) with a delightful sense of community, the other shoppers advised on fit and colors. It was like experiencing a shopping day with a group of friends, although we all just met at the store. Great place!

So cute and good food!

By Staci T |

We stopped here while touring the Atlanta History Center. Little bit of a wait, but worth it. The potpie was quite good, as was the champagne punch! Finished up with the swan dessert- baked meringue with chocolate mousse and whipped cream. Definitely a feminine place, as there were baby showers and bridal showers taking place. In fact, I only saw a couple of men as we were leaving.

“Old Atlanta” but not old at all!

By GrandmamaBJ |

This restaurant is such “old Atlanta” without being old at all. The food is always the best. The servers are the best. The atmosphere is welcoming & one can sense the history that surrounds the place. We have been here on several occasions with large groups. We were treated royally & service was very efficient. They have recently remodeled the dining room which is beautiful but they haven’t changed the staples of the restaurant & the reason we go there for our special occasions. I had the chicken salad & shrimp salad combo with frozen fruit salad. It was delicious. I was impressed that in the shrimp salad jumbo shrimp was used & not the tiny salad variety.

Upscale Southern Food at its Best

By Karl B |

A talented chef and polite, welcoming, attentive service in a reserved, elegant atmosphere makes dining at Swan Coach House a pleasure every time. Part of the coach house is a tasteful gift shop, and there is an interesting, small art gallery as well. We know that the restaurant is popular for private parties, too.

Ladies Lunch

By redbird2016 |

Remember when you dressed-up to go out to eat because it was something special? The Swan Coach House is the perfect place if you miss those days and you can even pretend you are a real Southrn Belle. Treat yourself to one of the many menu items. My favorite is the Swan House chicken salad with cheese straws and a frozen fruit salad. After lunch you can visit the Gift Shop or walk through the Art Exhibit.

Lovely lunch.

By kelbel7777 |

I love to have lunch here. Chicken salad and pimento cheese are my favorites. The swan dessert is a must. After eating go in the gift shop for some unique shopping.

Wonderful Tea Room Setting!

By TriniSnowWhite |

Our group of ladies had an amazing experience at Swan Coach House. Kindly greeted by the valet, escorted by sweet ladies to our tea room, delicious food and ambiance, and a tour of the Swan House Mansion. Hidden in Bulkhead, this was such a fun experience. Hope to return again soon with more girlfriends in tow!

Anniversary Lunch

By Paula9122008 |

My husband and I had lunch here for our anniversary prior to visiting Swan House. Excellent meal, good variety.

One can do better

By Jeanne K |

Don't be taken in by the beautiful surroundings. The food is simply not good. The staff is attentive but it does not make up for the sub-par meal. I felt terrible that my daughter spent all that money on Mothers Day for me to eat in this restaurant. Food was cold and my daughter's shrimp and grits swimming in an awful broth. Didn't want to make a big deal out of it and make my daughter feel bad - so I simply smiled and said how lovely it all was. Buckhead is full of extraordinary places to eat. Run and find them. Again, beautiful grounds - terrible food. (Including the foolish silk swan dessert)

A wonderful treat of 'Old Atlanta' whilst visiting from Scotland

By monstermunchie |

Beautiful location and surroundings. Food and service excellent. Loved the gift shop and gallery too. Several items purchased. Lovely traditional food in an elegant setting. Had a wonderful lunch with my cousin who now lives in Atlanta. A really special treat to share with wonderful company.

Lunch with friends

By Jackie W |

I recently visited the Swan Coach House to have lunch with friends. One was visiting the US for her first time from Nairobi, Kenya. I was pleasantly surprised at the many choices on their menu. We all had the quiche and it was a winner for us. The service was also very good. This is a historical place so if you are visiting Atlanta and want to learn about some history and have a good meal, visit the Swan Coach House.

Old Atlanta Elegance is the New Chic

By DearAbbyLovesTA |

As a Georgia native, I have had the pleasure of visiting several famous landmarks throughout my beautiful home state in my 26 years. Out of all the places that I have come across in my statewide travels, the Swan Coach House ranks close to the top of my favorites list. While I love the quaint, idyllic charm that small towns, like my native one, Winder, have to offer, I have always been drawn to the bustling big city vibes of Atlanta. As a child, I frequented the popular Atlanta malls such as Lenox, Phipps, and Perimeter with my mother and grandmother. During such visits, I'd admire the chic looks of patrons, hoping to one day dress so fashionable. Being the old soul that I am, I envisioned an entire Atlanta lifestyle for myself at the ripe age of 14. While keeping my previous statement in mind, let's fast forward 11 years to the day of my bridesmaids luncheon. My mother and grandmother were so kind to arrange it at the Swan Coach House, as they felt that the establishment embodies all that is me. I had never been to the Swan Coach House prior to this event, but all those close to me who had made similar comments about it to the tune of the place being a true "Atlanta Institution." When the day came to celebrate with my best girls, I put on my favorite Kate Spade dress, the necessary strand of pearls, some sling backs, and headed off. Upon reaching my destination, I was captivated by the beautiful, historic white structure that boasts a personality with it's lively red front door. Of course I had to gather my friends to get a stereotypical "sorority girl pose" picture in front of the restaurant in order to document the day. After all greetings had been made, my group headed inside to enjoy a fabulous lunch. The SCH accommodates both regular daytime visitors and small to large parties. For my luncheon, my mother had reserved Sally's Porch, which is a small, Florida-style dining room on the second floor of the restaurant that offers a gorgeous view of the grounds. Along with the rest of the restaurant, Sally's Porch is like a time capsule in that it is dripping in the frills and charm of all that is "Old Atlanta." From the classic white-starched linen covered tables garnished with a quaint rose center piece to the frilly curtains that feature the popular green and pink hues of decades past, I felt as though I had stepped back in time to join Julia Sugarbaker and her colleagues for a fabulous lunch. After everyone was seated, my party was greeted by a charming waiter who took everyone's drink orders efficiently. As we were a large party, my mother and I had pre-selected a meal for everyone. For the event, we selected the Swan's Favorite menu item, which is a plate that features the following items: -Two heart-shaped timbales filled with the restaurant's famous chicken salad - A generous round slice of the restaurant's popular creamy, fresh fruit salad - Two cheese straws The meal was divine as both the portions and flavors of all items were perfect. If you like chicken salad, then you will love their house-made recipe. The creamy, fresh fruit salad was unlike anything that I have ever had before with its combination of grapes and cherries that are held together by a delightful frozen cream. It practically offers you a sweets cheating pass in light of its semblance to a dessert item, while being categorized under the entree selections. Following the main course, I had selected the key lime pie dessert for everyone, as I cannot pass up on desserts of the tart kind. The pie was a hit that closed out a wonderful lunch. As my party prepared to depart from our charming event, my generous grandmother was so kind as to pick up the check for our party of 15. Being the snoop that I am, I was happily surprised at how reasonable the meal was for all that we got. As a side note, we paid a $75 rental fee for the room ahead of time in addition to the cost of the meal. As the restaurant is located on the grounds that link up to the Atlanta History Center and the famous Swan House, my friends and I casually strolled around to take in the breathtaking grounds and architecture of the Swan House after lunch. For all who truly want to see what makes Atlanta unique, this beautiful piece of historical architectural grandeur needs to definitely be on the To-Do List. As I drove home from my luncheon, I reflected on my visit to the iconic Swan Coach House. It met all of my expectations and then some. The locals are right when they say that it is a true "Atlanta Institution." If classic Southern charm and elegance could be bottled up, the SCH could definitely serve as the magic formula. In looking back on my youthful aspirations of growing up and adopting the elegant Atlanta lifestyle, my visit to the Swan Coach House offered me the chance to bring my vision to life. In closing, I highly recommend this place to all locals and tourists alike who appreciate fine dining, frills, and fabulous living.

Perfect lunch

Not so big inside. Could maybe sit 75 to 100 people. The menu was great, service spectacular and the food was excellent. The price was reasonable. Our overall experience there left us very happy. I ordered the herb chicken.

Southern Delight

By Juanita N |

After visiting the Atlanta History Center, I was told by a random stranger to try the food at 'Swan House'. I had not heard of it, so this interested me greatly. After some research, I went with a new friend and enjoyed how charming the setting seemed. We sat upstairs on the air conditioned balcony. The food was pretty good. The service I received was decent as well. I may go back to try something new!

Lovely Lunch on Grounds of Swan House/Atlanta History Center

By tmhughx |

Tremendous place for lunch with Southern style cuisine. Wine, beer and crafted cocktails are available. Holly was knowledgeable and attentive. When I asked about a champagne cocktail made a certain way, Holly said, "I make the cocktails, I will take care of it." I had Shrimp Salad and a Swan shaped French chocolate mousse topped with Chantilly cream and almonds. Wonderful! Also, don't miss the attached gallery and gift shop.

Fun place for lunch with friends. Service was good and food was freshly prepared. Gift shop well stocked for holiday sales. Nice selection of varied products and prices in line with quality of items.

Birthday lunch with friend

By Mary T |

Beautiful place to go. Make sure you put aside at least 2 hr for lunch. The bread basket that was brought to the table has many different kinds of muffin and bread. Had a fried green tomatoes sandwich. Very good. We didn’t have time to shop the gift shop.

Charming tea house lunch

By el13207 |

If you visit the Atlanta History Center, be sure and plan to have lunch at this charming spot, within the park-like grounds, and adjoining a very nice gift shop/art gallery. I scooted in close to closing time, and they were very welcoming, although virtually empty. I enjoyed the Swan chicken salad (although as chicken salad goes it was rather plain and very fine textured- I prefer chicken salads that have a bit more to them) in some kind of a crispy shell, with a side of their frozen fruit salad (I'd give that a pass next time, however: hard to cut into and basically frozen whipped cream with a stray piece of fruit here and there). The best part of my lunch was the basket of little muffins served alongside, particularly one which was like cornbread. Mostly I enjoyed the old Southern ambience of the place. The food was decently good, but I suspect I would have done better had I selected something else on the menu, which had a variety of options.

One of Atlanta’s Hidden Treasures

By gb7ihla |

We celebrated my twin sisters 65th (from Alaska) and our precious Atlanta aunt’s 100th birthday at this charming restaurant outside the Botanical Gardens...free parking and no requirement to pay for the Gardens. There was a delightful “ladies luncheon feel” to the beautifully decorated place with fun gift ideas! The menu was perfect and a precious swan desert was presented to our birthday girls! We will return! Hats off to the owners and magnificent waitresses, who made it soooo special!

Attended the Brunch with Santa event.

By Richard G |

They have wonderful food. But the greatest aspect of their Christmas event is that they have a great Santa and Mrs.Claus. For the children it is a no pressure event as families are brought to Santa and the pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus are so well done by their professional photographer. The events are so popular that one has to make reservations in early fall (September/October) to insure that one gets in. The Brunch with Santa is a delightful event for families.

Definitely a lady's restaurant for a southern belle

By Peggy B |

The dining room is exquisitely decorated. The table clothes are layered for a feminine touch. All linen clothes and real china grace the table. I ordered the cold peach soup. What a delicate treat for the taste buds. It was puréed sweetened peaches. The tea sandwiches were two pimento on white bread with the crust removed and two chicken salad sandwiches. Our dessert was key lime pie which was light and delicious. Do browse the gift shop. Many treasures await your purchase.

Glorified adult tea party

By 3rh0 |

Came for a bridesmaids luncheon. It was a good time! The drinks are fun, and at around $7, pretty reasonably priced. The food was good too! The frozen fruit salad was interesting—very sugary. It was nice for a bite, but it would be a lot to have the entire serving. The regular french fries were really good, and I thought they were better than the sweet potato fries. I got the soup and sandwich plate, which came with 4 little triangle sandwiches, 2 chicken salad and 2 pimento cheese. The amount of chicken salad and pimento cheese was not generous and I wish I had just gotten one or the other. The tomato bisque soup was very good. The swan dessert, which had chocolate mousse, was delicious. Again, not very expensive, especially for the area it’s in. Overall, it was a good experience. A fun time for basically a glorified adult version of a tea party.

Great food - slow service

By Jana S |

The food is great but the service is slow. It took over an hour to get a table for 4 and then they were understaffed. Love the food but you need to have a lot of time to eat there.

I love how it stays the same but is so trendy!

By Kathy C |

I went to this place for the first time over 41 years ago! Yes! Some of the same things are on the menu! It's a classic! That being said, earlier this month their soup was Tomato Basil. It was the very best I have ever had. What a treat. It's so fun to try all the "salad" sandwiches--shrimp salad, tuna salad, pimento salad! The little muffins/breads etc. they put on each table are a treat too. Service is always excellent and friendly. And the prices are so reasonable for an upscale place.

Surprisingly wonderful!

By Tempe_Randy |

We stopped in for a quick brunch while on a tour of the Historic Society and Swan House, and were very time constrained. The staff was awesome! They coached us on needing to order asap as they would be filling up quickly, and got us seating quickly. They weren't kidding! Withing 10 minutes of being seated, the restaurant was 3/4 full from couples to ladies attending a baby shower. We got our entree order in right away (before the groups) and our food was out amazingly quick. Given the venue, gorgeous surroundings and staff we were most delighted when we received our bill as we had previously spend quite a bit more for far less service and quality in downtown Atlanta. The food was delicious and the portions were plentiful. I highly suggest anyone in the area to go to the Swan Coach House.

In England, we'd call this posh!

By Trevor W |

We were a bit concerned to find that the parking lot was full, but managed to park on the street and although the restaurant was busy, the wait to be seated for lunch was only five minutes. This is definitely the place for ladies' luncheons and many (presumably attending bridal showers or other special gatherings) were dressed for the occasion. The place was very nicely decorated and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was good, friendly and efficient. This was our first visit and we'll definitely return next time we're in the Atlanta area.

Lunch with my daughter

Great light lunch. Very stylish surroundings. Not a casual place. Absolutely lovely. Service first rate. Just delightful.

Genteel, classic ladies tea

By Deb and John |

A welcome and welcoming respite after a hot day touring the Atlanta History Centre, the Swan Coach House affords a wonderful trip back in time to a genteel, classic ladies tea of days gone by. Enjoy the lovely ladies in their Sunday best, china on linen, and the fried green tomatoes and cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Men welcome too.

Great Lunch! High Tea at Noon!

Loved our high tea at 12:00 PM lunch at the Swan Coach House. Super fun! Plenty of ladies with beautiful hats just like the old south. Great service and yummy finger sandwiches!

Great place for Lunch

By Ellen H |

I visited this restaurant a long time ago and it is still as good as it was years ago. I had the chicken salad timballs and frozen fruit salad. Our waitress took very good care of us. If you haven’t been, you should try it.

Fantastic Experience

By Sally Caldwell G |

You feel as if you are stepping back in time when you have lunch here. The food is delicious and you feel as if you are having a "Southern Ladies Lunch " especially if you get the Swan Special. The shops which are attached to the restaurant are beautiful. They have unique, lovely and expensive gifts etc.

CHEESE STRAWS & FROZEN FRUIT SALAD - LADIES BRUNCH!

By lbpnole |

My MIL turns 80 this month and has recently moved to Atlanta (the real South) so we wanted to mark the milestone bday by showing her some good-old Southern Hospitality! Go online & ck out the menu. Our table enjoyed the SWAN FAVORITE (3 orders) the Quiche Lorraine (1 order) and the Chicken Pot Pie (1 order). The Swan Favorite comes w/their famous chicken salad in little pie shells (heart-shaped, even!) and a large slice of their old-school delicious frozen fruit salad (a bunch of cherries, bananas, nuts, etc. frozen into a creamy sauce - old-school vintage recipe)! Oh... and I can't forget to mention the cheese straws (which you can buy some from their "to-go" counter to take home - who needs potato chips?). There are also special beverages (both alcoholic as well as non-alcoholic) to enjoy w/your brunch: Bellinis, Mimosas, Southern Punch, Bloody Marys, as well as tea, sodas, etc.

Really enjoyed the docents in period costumes and character. They brought this beautifully appointed house from the 1930"s to life as they shared it's history with guests.

Good menu and interesting little gift shop. I found it crowded and noisy, however. See photos, menu at its website.

Southern Charm

By Kathryn N |

We were visiting the Atlanta History Museum and were told that lunch at this place was a must. We had parked at the museum parking deck and had to find our way to the restaurant. Signage isn’t great on his property, but people are helpful. We arrived close to 1 pm and put our name on the list. I was afraid it would be a long wait because there isn’t a lot of seating. I was pleasantly surprised when we were seated quickly. The service we received also quick. My husband had shrimp tacos which were huge and he said they were tasty. We both had cream of potato soup which was delicious. My daughter had a chicken sandwich of some sort which she enjoyed with scrumptious fries. I had the popular chicken salad & frozen fruit. Very tasty indeed. Our server was attentive and kept our glasses filled. We didn’t linger or get dessert because we wanted to explore the history museum. This seems a good place for lingering with coffee and dessert. I suggested that we bring my mother-in-law for her birthday. Seems like a place she would especially enjoy.

Fabulous

By pamperedPennsylvania |

Wonderful for girls day out. Attractive decor and lite fare available. The frozen fruit smoothie was something I didn’t think I’d like. You don’t order it separately it comes as a side with some of the selections. I was very pleasantly surprised, it is delicious. The French silk pie is out of this world. The presentation of their food is eye candy. For lunch for two of us, no alcohol and sharing the French silk pie was $48. The only downside to this place is they close at 2:30 and the wait is at least an hour or more. They don’t take reservations for less than a party of 5 is what I believe the hostess said, but you can call ahead and get your name added to the wait list so that would be advisable on the weekend which is when we were there. It is so worth the wait. 99 percent of the patrons were women when we were there.

Southern charm restaurant with a gift shop and art gallery nearby

By Arlene M |

On my previous trip to Atlanta I got to tour the Atlanta history center and visit the elegant Swan House. I decided on this trip to have lunch at the Coach house which I had missed on that visit. I learned that the Coach house was previously the servants' quarters of the the Swan house. They do not take reservations for small parties but when I arrived I was greeted by a charming hostess and led to my table. The dress code is business casual. The decor is very lovely and makes a great place to hold a special event I was given rolls and some mini muffins as a start. I decided to order the signature trio salad which consists of one timbale of chicken salad, one timbale of shrimp salad, and one timbale of tuna salad. They came with two pimento cheese sticks and a frozen fruit salad. My meal came fairly quickly. The chicken salad was okay but I really loved the shrimp and the tuna salad. The best part was the frozen fruit salad. It was filling in itself but I wanted to leave room for dessert. My waitress told me that they had 3 offerings: Swan mousse, homemade pecan pie or key lime pie. I had a tough time deciding but went with the Swan mousse. The top is whipped in the shape of a swan. This dessert was outstanding! They do have a takeout menu if you are interested. After my lunch I strolled into the gift shop where they have all different types of clothes, jewelry, ceramics, gifts for babies, and little swan trinket boxes. I purchased a few trinket boxes as gifts for my friends back home and bought a cute baby blanket for a friend who just had a baby. Finally I decided to tour the art gallery. The gallery is small but the art work is very interesting. I was grateful for the opportunity to visit all three venues during this time and would recommend to go beyond the restaurant itself once you have finished your meal. It made a great start to my visit to Atlanta.

A Beautiful Taste of the Past

By Marilyn M |

This undoubtedly the place that makes me feel like a princess and a Southern lady. It is from the past that I grew up with. It is the epitome of a tearoom. Although men are very welcome, the majority of partakers are usually women. It is very elegant without being stuffy. There are white tablecloths, beautiful arrangements of roses on each table and lovely party food that you find nowhere else. The staff and the food are topnotch and everything is elegant. The wonderful shop and art gallery complete a unique experience.

Great setting, nice lunch, and the mini-muffins

By Lulu1992 |

After touring the history center, we went there for lunch. We ordered Swan's favorite (chicken salad) and Cornucopia salad. They were good, however, it was the mini-muffin that stole the show. Especially the one that is baked with zucchini. The portion is very generous.

Surprised

By Kim J |

It's quite a dowdy looking place but Surprisingly the food was very good. For some reason I expected it to be Piccadilly-esque. An out-of-town guest suggested we come. Although I have lived in Atlanta for 20 plus years I had never even heard of it. Cute gift shop, we both picked up a few fun items as mementos.

A Step Back in Time

By Becky H |

An upscale tea room with southern elegance and charm is the best way to describe this place. The frozen strawberry salad and the swan dessert were incredible! It must be a popular place due to the crowd of people waiting to get in.

An outstanding lunch in a beautiful setting.

Was able to get a table with no reservations during the lunch hour. The setting is more like eating in a home rather than a restaurant and is relaxing to say the least. Service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Had the curry chicken dish and a mint julep, a wonderful combo. Highly recommend having a lunch here.

Southern Ladies Tea Room...and there were lots of ladies!

By Dave B |

It is an attractive setting. Seems that local ladies come here for lunch. Very trendy. I was disapponted with the chicken salad sandwich, as the consistancy was that of a ham spread. But my wife liked it. They didn't serve it on a croisant, either. Fruit was excellent.

Not worth the visit

By giddyupgrl |

We were visiting the Atlanta History Center and wanted to stay close by for lunch and enjoy a touch of southern hospitality. From our gruff greeting by the maitre’d to the spotty service buy our waitress, the southern hospitality was lacking. The food was mediocre. The charcuterie tasted left over. The tea sandwich bread appeared stale and the chicken salad filling was dry. The pimento sandwich was a bit better but the minestrone soup was the most tasty. The hamburger was greasy and over cooked. The chicken pot pie was very creamy but not very flavorful. The Bloody Marys were the highlight of the meal. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant to anyone looking for a good meal or service much like a Broadway tourist trap.

If you want a taste of bygone days, this is the place to go. It's an old fashioned style "tea house" with lovely a luncheon menu.

Chick's Place

By Townsend_Flash |

My wife and I visited the Swan Coach House Restaurant without a reservation on a Friday near noon. We were seated immediately. Looking around, the client base was decidedly female. I ordered The Best of Both signature salads...Timbale and Shrimp. It included fresh fruit and a couple cheese straws. Both were yummy. My wife ordered a Fried Green Tomato sandwich. She said it was very good. The server was friendly and efficient. Nice place!!

Pure Joy at the Swan Coach House

By louanne h |

We had a baby shower on Sally's Porch! The food was spectacular. Not only was the food delicious, it was absolutely beautiful! While we were there the service was stellar. From beginning to end, a memorable and joyous event! You just can't beat the Swan Coach House for a special event.

Elegance and southern hospitality

By theedamamegrl |

We hosted a baby shower for a friend and ordered the normal frozen fruit salad and chicken salad. It was a huge hit for everyone from near and far. On a Saturday it is very busy, so call for reservations especially if you're coming straight from the History Center. Other food I have had there is also delicious, but if you're only going once, get the special and understand why all the locals rave about it!!

Don't Miss the Swan Dessert

By Cindy L |

If you visit the Atlanta History Center don't miss out on the the Swan Coach House for lunch. Be sure to go early. We had a long wait for a table due to several booked parties. But once we had a table the service was excellent and they went out of their way to make sure that we were treated like a special guest. The food is great bot save room for the Swan Coach Houses signature mousse dessert.

Great place to have Lunch

This is a fun place to go for a special occasion lunch. The food is very good & the service is nice also. It’s also a nice place to go for a group luncheon with friends,

Part of the charm of Atlanta

By Jim M |

Yes, it is mostly a place for ladies who like to lunch but still very good food. Wonderful service. I loved the fried green tomatoe sandwich. The Soup for today was fruity cold soup and it was to die for. Along with the restaurant is an art gallery and gift shop. It is on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center in the Buckhead district of Atlanta. Very enjoyable place for lunch.

Proper old southern cuisine

By Kimberly S |

You will find proper old southern cuisine such as chicken salad, pimento cheese, cucumber sandwiches, cheese straws, and 4 o'clock tea.

Lovely surroundings and good food

By bsandrs |

Visiting from England we came across this restaurant when visiting the History Centre Surroundings are lovely, food good and service impressively prompt on a busy Saturday We were surprised how reasonable the bill was We did feel that the two ladies on reception were rather overwhelmed and checked our names several times over the time we were waiting, it might also be a nice idea to offer a menu to view whilst waiting. If this could be sharpened up it is a perfect experience. Recommended

Beautiful and delicious slice of history

Soup, tea sandwiches and a glass of wine after touring the history center. Memorable, lovely experience.

Perfect Birthday Lunch

By LarrJann |

I was looking for someplace special to celebrate my 65th birthday. Swan Coach House did not disappoint! The service and food was wonderful! The grand finale was their signature swan dessert! Yummy!

Can't wait to go back again.

I Love this place. It is classy and really a breath of fresh air. Everyone was friendly, inviting, the food is excellent, and the service was impeccable. We had hot tea with buttered muffins, chicken salad with the frozen fruit salad. What a great lunch! My girls (age 8 & 10) said they felt very fancy like a princess.

Fantastic

By panpanda |

When I visit a city, I want to eat at restaurants that are unique to that town. We can eat at Applebees, Olive Garden, Panera or any chain at home so why hunt out places like that when traveling? The Swan Coach House is a unique, ladies lunch place that harkens back to an era when women of leisure lunched. The men in my family feel uncomfortable in such a predominantly female environment, but men are welcome. The menu has some restaurant specialties, such as a creamy frozen jello. The basket of warm, mini muffins and other baked goods are heavenly.

Lovely visit

By Lisa M |

My daughter and I stumbled here after a tour of the Swan House. Felt like we stepped back in time, what a lovely dining room. We had small servings of bread (banana I think) and chocolate chip muffins to begin. We had the pair with chicken salad and shrimp salad. Chicken salad was amazing, shrimp salad was fair. Serving was small but was plenty. Had frozen fruit cocktail with lunch , as it was recommended by the hostess. So glad we had the chicken salad and frozen fruit as they were both wonderful. If we ever return we agree we will skip the shrimp salad. Lovely lunch. Glad my husband was not with us, definitely seemed like a place for a ladies lunch.

Old School Ladies' Luncheon

By dimojam |

I took four out-of-town HS friends to lunch for the "quintessential Southern ladies' lunch." A bridesmaids' luncheon and a baby shower filled the majority of the other tables in the room. The only male in sight was the busboy...he was also the only ethnic minority in the room. Our waitress was as at least as interested in regaling us with stories about her former history with the Atlanta Ballet as she was with taking our order. The food was so-so, and the drinks were bland and weak. I hadn't been there for 25 years, and now I remember why.

Nice lunch

By Suzzanne C |

We had lunch on a Monday after touring the museum and Swan House. We had 4 adults and two small children in our group. It may not have been an ideal place for lunch with small children; however, the waiter was very accommodating and we had an enjoyable time (the restaurant was not too busy at the time we were there). The chicken salad was recommended to us and it was very good. I especially enjoyed my cauliflower/squash soup. My daughter had the frozen fruit dish which she thought was good.

Spot on! food and service

By 02corvette |

Our son in law has never been farther east than N.O. LA so when Dragoncon was over, he and our dtr stayed with us and we thought we would treat them to something really Southern.. The Swan Coach House!!! There are so many fabulous choices to be had but this is what we settled on.. I had the house special chicken salad with frozen fruit salad. My husband and Dtr took the BLT one with the squash casserole and the other with the braised Brussel sprouts and the SIL took the fired chicken salad. The rolls were so good but there was only one blueberry muffin and I got it. We asked for more and were brought another basket full of them so everyone got one and we took a few home. The tea tasted like fresh brewed tea should and my SIL was impressed with that plus the most polite and attentive but not intrusive server- Allison -. Coming from CA they don't get a lot of polite and attentive... trust me on that. We were never rushed and my dtr got to tell her husband this was the kind of places we went when she was just a kid or in college - not McDonalds or Costco like his family does. I was telling my coloring book group about our experience and we have now decided that the group of 12 will be coming here for our annual Christmas outing luncheon.

Art sometimes makes best lunch spot

By peggy d |

I changed my mind about recommending Swan Coach House. I just saw Karen Tauches is curating an art exhibit in the adjoining gallery called Atlanta Reconstructs. I will definittely go for lunch myself just to see the show. Tauches is a brilliant artist who has taken to curating show of art by others that convey dimensions, nuances, statements, contradictions, layers, of sudden insights and questions while soaking up sometimes beautiful, sometimes shocking visual aesthetics. She has focussed in the past on disappearing Atlanta. This show is called Reconstuct ions. It's where I'd take a one time or frequent visitor to Atlanta for lunch If I thought they were interested in cintellectual and aesthetic changes in American cities, specifically Atlanta. Call to be sure this exhibit is up.

Ladies (and gentlemen) who lunch

By YujiOda |

In January we were in Atlanta for a library convention. We made time for Buckhead's Historical Museum and were fortunate to dine at the Coach House on the property. When we were seated, the hostess made sure to tell my husband that they also had "man food" on their lovely menu of soups, salads, and dainties. My husband knows his way around a kitchen and pronounced their quiche as one of the best. He also loved his mint julep. My chicken salad was divine and we shared a piece of heavenly pecan pie. Shout out to our southern hostess who's family is from Long Island-we had a great talk about it. One of the highlights of the trip!

Disappointing (and over-priced) Mother's Day Lunch

By taopiglet |

We made reservations several months ago in hopes of having a nice Mother's Day Lunch. Unfortunately, the Swan House did not live up to expectations (or the hype). Last year we went to Mary Mac's for Mother's Day, and despite the 1.5 hour wait, we had really good food, great service and Mom was even given a rose. However, this year we had made reservations months in advance for the Swan House thinking it would be an extra special experience...I wish we had just gone back to Mary Macs. First off, the tables were packed in...I am not sure if this is a normal configuration or if they were just trying to squeeze as many people in as possible, but we were literally eating with the people next to us (the tables were right up against each other). It was kind of awkward. On top of that you would have expected something a little special for Mother’s Day…maybe some music or a flower for each Mother. Unfortunately, there was really nothing special at all. Secondly, the menu was a limited "Prix Fixe" menu. Luckily, they had the Salad Sampler that my Mom wanted (and enjoyed)…but it looked like they made them in a blender (consistency of baby food). The other selections on the menu were just "blah". We all started with the Caesar Salad...these must have been sitting around for a while because they were wilting. Considering they normally charge $8 for the Caesar, you would expect something special...but it was not…even the croutons were store bought. For entrees, I ended up with Fried Chicken (a wing and leg with hardly any meat and very greasy) with mashed potatoes (which were cold) and my partner had the Shrimp and Grits which was OK. The service was almost neglectful. Considering the room we were in was half empty the entire time we were there, I would have expected better service. However, we really only saw our server a couple of times…she was pleasant enough though when we did see her. Finally, the “Prix Fixe” menu was really too high ($36 per person) for this type of mediocre food/non-experience. Next Mother’s day we will be going somewhere else.

Nice for lunch

By TJandTR |

With the ladies who lunch. The white tablecloths almost sent us away, but the prices weren't much more than we'd pay at home for lunch. We took the hostess' advice and tried the frozen fruit salad - YUM! The chicken salad and breads were tasty, too.

Essentialy a ladies tea room. Roosters were scarce!

By 53jerryz |

My wife insists we go there for lunch every time we go to Atlanta! I give in to keep the marriage together!!! It's a southern ladies tea room and they are all out with their colorful wear. They really enjoy the place and all seem to be fully engaged in conversation. Bridal party lunches .a group get together ,a birthday ,a ladies tea ,whatever, it's all happening. The menu for men is limited . I had a turkey club which was very good. My wife always gets the Swan house salad and she loves it . There are multiple salads on the menu. I mean it's nice but for the roosters it's a bit uncomfortable. It's like 40 to one in ratio women to men. Eyeballs are on you as you walk in !!! It's a well decorated lunch area as the walls have colorful coverings and it is bright and cheery. I have had a mint julep there and I had to send it back twice .Once it was essentially a strong whiskey that was sweetened and once because it was too sweetened. I ordered a beer after that ! The last time in I ordered an orange rum drink and it was delicious and I would order it again .The service was very good and the place was clean but again not my cup of tea!!! They have a unique gift shop that adjoins the coach house and my wife shops and inevitably buys something as I sit outside on a bench. It has valet parking so that's another couple of bucks , I did notice parking was allowed on the street however so be aware. You can also park for free at he Atlanta History museum which is right next door and a short walking distance away .Take in the museum for 3 or so hours then have lunch if you want at the Swan coach house. The museum is a good take and has a very good soup kitchen inside. I tried it ! Down stairs at the Swan coach house is a large area that would host weddings and large parties. It was a garden type setting but enclosed. Very nice .The grounds are well kept. toilets are very clean . Try it folks it's an experience and with the museum (that contains the original Swan house) you have a full day of adventure !

Special Place for Lunch (only)!

By geomom01 |

The Swan Coach House is a true special occasion lunch place on the grounds of the Atlanta History Center. It is only open from 11-2, Tues-Sat. The interior is beautiful and takes you back to a time of the nearby Swan House where dining was an event you dressed for. The service is impeccable with servers dressed formally and the food is beautifully prepared at a reasonable price. If you are visiting the Atlanta History Center, lunch at the Swan Coach House is a must and will make your visit one of the most memorably. There is also a gift shop and gallery. Do not miss this beautiful restaurant!

Charming & Delicious

By aljrg90 |

We celebrated a birthday and this place is charming. Beautiful, bright, and the staff is very friendly. The food was delicious as well. Had the “best of both”. Shrimp salad had large pieces of shrimp and was very light. My hubby ordered crab cakes and they were good (a little small” but with salad and side was enough. Recommend this venue for “a ladies” luncheon.

Lovely

I attended the Little Blue Box Brunch here and I was impressed. This jewel has been here for years and I never even knew! If you're seeking a luxurious venue for your event you've found the right place. This mansion was renovated into an event space some time ago. There are many dining rooms. Several different events have the ability to occur at the same time. Nikka Shae is the organizer of LBBB and she made sure every guest felt special. The food was not only exquisite but tasted great. I tip my hat to the chef!

We went to the Coach House after touring the Swan House. I love tea and a light lunch so we thought we'd give it a try. It was good, but nothing that made me think we should come back a 2nd time

Amazing experience! Must visit!

By jhdct |

The ambiance at Swan Coach House is southern and elegant. The food is excellent. And the cocktails are superb. Upon being seated, you are warmly greeted. A basket of sweet muffins and rolls is presented to you. Try your best to not eat them all before your order arrives. ;) I ordered the spinach quiche with frozen fruit salad. The frozen fruit salad is made with sweet cream and mixed fruit cocktail. It is so refreshing and delicious. For the cocktail, I ordered the Bubbly Atlantan. It is one of the best cocktails I have ever had. The combination of champagne with St. Germaine and cherry is wonderful. I love St. Germaine so I was very happy with it. Saida was a pleasant and friendly waitress. She was attentive without being overbearing. The food, drink and service were so good that my mom and I returned the following day and ordered the same items. The main dining room is extremely small so it can get quite crowded but it is worth waiting for. I would suggest arriving no later than 11:15 especially if it is on. A Friday or Saturday. If you have a party or two, you are more likely to be seated before a party of four. If you have a party of eight or more, you are able to make a reservation. During both visits, there were multiple showers - bridal and baby. They do have private dining areas downstairs as well as upstairs on a terrace if you need a bigger space. I cannot say enough good things about this place.

Very classy!!

Very classy!! Joby our waiter was AWSOME! Had the burger cooked just right ! My friends had the chix pot pie, quiche Lorraine, butternut squash soup. Great lunch with friends. A++ were t rushed!! Be sure to make reservations. We will go back!

quiet, delicious food, white linens. even the locals eat there. does look like a converted coach house but what a fine job they did. if you close your eyes, its easy to picture pre civil war gentry dining.

Fantastic little place

By Sue P |

We went here for lunch whilst visiting the Atlanta History Center, although busy we were made welcome and invited to take a seat whilst we waited for a table. Once seated in the restaurant we were promptly brought water and menus. Once we had placed our order they brought mini muffins with a cinnamon butter which was delicious. I had the crab cakes with two sides and chose went potato fries and a small Caesar salad, the salad was brought out as an appetiser but I didn’t have time to finish it before my main arrived. My husband had the chicken curry and both mains were absolutely delicious, they were very flavoursome and just the right sized portion. My water was topped up and the staff were perfect at being around if you wanted anything but not being intrusive. We hope to visit here again whilst in Atlanta as it was that good. I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for its excellent food and very reasonable prices.

Enjoyable and Elegant Lunch (affordable!) or Tea

By sandy l |

The Swan Coach House is one of those 'must see' places when in Atlanta for a nice but affordable Southern lunch or tea. It's a lovely restaurant, art gallery, and gift shop all in one located in the heart of Buckhead just off W. Paces Ferry. You can be dressed business casual and not feel out of place. The tables are set with fresh flowers (I've only seen roses over the years) and the menu is light - just perfect for a lunch with the girls, business lunch, wedding or baby shower, birthday luncheon, or a community group meeting (there is a separate space that can be booked if you need privacy). The service and food is quite good - mostly salads and nothing too spicy if you have picky eaters. For the hearty appetite, I did see they added a turkey reuben to the menu. The last time I dined there (a week ago) the grilled chicken salad was quite filling with plenty of meat, mandarin oranges, grapes, scallion, and crisp mixed greens. Perfect on a hot day! I believe if you are seated by a window or downstairs there is somewhat of a view, but the place itself is so charming with the floral touches and fresh linen table cloths. Be sure to give yourself time to check out the art collections in the gallery (they change) and spend some time in the gift shop with it's gorgeous home goods, decor, and jewelry. The best time to go is during the week because this is part of the Atlanta History Center block so may be quite busy on a Sat. We went at 11:15 for an early lunch and were the first to be seated. There is valet parking to make it easy but I believe you can also find street parking or park in one of the lots behind and toward the History Center.

Excellent Restaurant!!!! The food was wonderful, the service was great and the gift shop was wonderful. We had out of town guest and they were super impressed. I highly recommend the Swan House as one of the best choices in Atlanta, Ga.

A lovely experience

By LNS4 |

Tea room style for ladies but also hardy enough to bring the men and rest of the family. Our server was knowledgeable and the food wonderful. We also took in the grounds before and after our meal. Truly a great find in Atlanta and a great representation of Southern grace and hospitality. We will return again.

Upscale Cuisine in an Historical Building

By Dwight G |

We had been at the Atlanta History Museum and walked to the Swan Coach House for lunch. The atmosphere was definitely more upscale than my museum-hopping attire, but I am still glad we went in. Each dish was above expectation and VERY well presented. If you want a more luxury lunch or to impress someone, this is the place to go. Valet parking available.

DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR

By Whitney G |

If you are African American or homosexual stay away from this place. Don’t be either, or you’re just going to not be welcomed here at all. Me and my fiancé came here to view this venue, and the lady was so off putting and rude to me, but wanted to be nice to my Caucasian fiancé. When I would ask questions she would be short with me, and barely wanted to look at me. I was so happy to view this place, and this experience made me so sad. To be like that AND be located in Buckhead???? The audacity. It makes no sense. Please run from here and go elsewhere. Truly disgusting behavior from this establishment.

Still a Wonderful Place to Eat and Visit.

By insmama |

We recently went ot the Swan Coach House for lunch for my daughter's 25th Birthday. The hostess explained to us that there was plenty of seating but it would just take her a few minutes to get everyone that had come in minutes ahead of us seated. After less than 5 minutes we were seated witht he hostess apologizing for the long time that we had to wait :-) . The restaurant holds itself to a very high standard. No wait for food (we both ordered Swan's Favorite) and it was very tasty and just the right amount of food. Home made muffins and cornbread were served while we waited for the food to come out. My daughter had never been and was very impressed as was I.

Great Place to Enjoy a Southern Style Lunch

What a delightful place to leisurely enjoy lunch with friends. in a classic southern atmosphere. We enjoyed tea sandwiches, soup and Mint Juleps! It a place to relax and after you eat the gift shop is amazing. There is also an art gallery exhibiting the work of local artists. I bought the Restaurant's cookbook and have enjoyed making many of their specialties. Delicious!

Southern charm and good food

By Cmcdonald86 |

This is one of my all time favorite Atlanta spots. It is a dining experience that has not changed since the first time I went almost 20 years ago. The food always tastes the same (excellent) and the service is always so friendly! You may have to wait if you go during the peak lunch hours but it's not a place to go if your in a rush so the wait should be made enjoyable by walking around the beautiful gift shop! I usually request the rose room. It is the most charming to me but I have also been to bridal showers on the top floor and enjoyed it as well. This is a great spot for lunch with one friend and is also great for groups if you give them notice. I suggesting using the valet. It isn't pricey and well worth it in convenience so you don't have to parallel park on the street. Perfect place to take out of town guests.

Cool gift shop

By Mirrrcat |

The SCH restaurant was packed on a Saturday afternoon when my friend and I went there for a group event with some friends who all live in Atlanta. The friend to my left pointed out the stains on the ceiling tiles. She said they had been that way for years, and she remembered because she wanted to have her wedding reception there, but didn't want the stains in the pictures. Her daughter was sitting next to her. She looked like she was five or six. The restaurant was so full, it was really rather chaotic. I love the hum of a packed restaurant. Servers pushed past tables and a greeter directed people in all directions from the foyer. I am guessing they have so much business that this review will not make any difference. As I was making my way to the restroom a server bumped into me with a bloody mary in a broken glass. I told her the glass was broken. She said she knew it was, because the guest had just sent it back. Servers seemed to struggle to get around the crowded dining room. We called that "the weeds" when I was a server. The best advice I got as a server: whatever is going on, the weeds are all in your mind. Our food had been selected in advance by our hosts. They chose the salad sampler. Their chicken salad is supposed to be acclaimed, she said. The sampler had tuna, shrimp and chicken salad in little fried cups. The tuna and chicken was chopped up in a food processor to a very fine, homogenous texture that I can only describe as "Mechanically Processed For Safe Swallowing." I have teeth... and a gag reflex. "Is it canned chicken?" my friend asked. I imagined the pureed food in my father-in-law's nursing home. The shrimp salad had sounded the best to me on the menu, but on closer inspection I was disappointed. It looked like it had been in the fridge uncovered, as the scoops were dried out at the edges. My stomach started to turn. I picked up my fork to take a bite. I noticed that what I had thought was a caper in my shrimp salad was actually a dead fruit fly. Gah! I picked it out and put it on the rim of my plate. When the server asked what she could bring instead, I mined my yearnings. My stomach was in my throat. I knew I didn't want salad. I said, "anything cooked, your choice." The server suggested grilled chicken. I said, whatever you want, as long as it's hot. My friend across the table asked me to text her what was going on, so I sent her a picture of my dead fruit fly. She sent me a picture of her cracked mimosa glass. We both laughed. When so many things go wrong, you begin to adjust your expectations. My friend ordered a bloody mary. She said later the mimosa was so icky sweet she wouldn't have finished it anyway. We guessed it was probably made with Asti Spumante or Moscato. We're more of the brut champagne kind of girls. Everyone at the table was done with their food by the time my food came out. The replacement dish was hot. I hadn't eaten since the night before, and I was two bloody marys in at 2:30pm, so I dug in. It could have had a fly in it, I wouldn't have cared. I felt a twinge of shame, like that person in your office who makes microwave buttered popcorn in the afternoon. My dish had an overwhelming Italian food smell. Like a lean cuisine. All the other ladies pretended not to watch me eat. I pretended to enjoy my food. As I chewed I noticed that what was going inside me was akin to what you would get at a low class business conference. meat and two sides. The chicken tasted like a pre-seasoned (and maybe pre-cooked) product from Sysco. It had that uniform, but no particular flavor, soul-sucking texture of mediocrity. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I had experience pretending to enjoy this type of food. I pictured myself attending a conference lunch for work, chewing rubber chicken, wishing I'd been able to find some hole in the wall curry joint instead of being forced to "network" while poking bad food in my face and vowing to pack Sriracha in my purse next trip. What was I doing with my life? Pretending to enjoy eating bad food will make you question your life choices. I noticed that the server had selected a side of corn for me. But it looked canned. The whole kernels floated in a milky liquid. Is it cool to serve canned vegetables? I don't eat them at home, why would I want to eat them at a restaurant? I tasted a bite. Canned corn. The side of zucchini squash was cooked with tomato sauce and mozzarella to resemble lasagna. I'm thinking as I chew, this spaghetti sauce is from a jar, but I don't care. After the chicken salad, maybe that's a good thing. At least jarred food is pasteurized. I looked around at the table next to us. They seemed to be having fun. Another table was immersed in their iphones and their water glasses were empty. There were people of various races and ages. They looked like tourists. I thought, can they all be idiots? But I was hungry. So I kept eating. It filled me up. I even ate one of their brick-hard muffins. Who is the chef? Where did he learn to cook like this? Dessert was a fluff of whipped cream with a stale cookie. It was supposed to look like a swan (get it?). but mine was round and kind of sunken in, so it was either a really fat, flattened swan, or nothing at all. Someone asked if I didn't eat dessert. I politely tasted the stale cookie swan head, but didn't eat the fluff. My friend asked me why I wasn't eating dessert. I said, I have no silverware. She offered to wipe hers off. I said no thank you, I'm just too full for dessert. I pictured a pissed off chef in a dirty uniform, piping whipped cream in the shape of round swans, wondering what he was doing with his life. Then I realized, the chef could be someone's grandmother. The one who thinks you want to eat congealed salad and canned corn casserole! Yes! That would explain everything. Otherwise, I can't understand the appeal of the menu in terms of flavor or presentation. My friend said she thinks this is what most women eat, but I don't know any of those people. Thank God. We wrapped up our lunch, our friend unwrapped her gifts. It was fun to be together. On the bright side, the gift shop has a great variety of clothing and unique and coastal housewares. The attached museum displays unusual, original art work. We walked around the shop and watched a bridal party with extraordinarily complex hair styles and bright dresses attempt to pack dozens of oversized Crate & Barrel boxes into their escalade at the valet stand. Then we left.

For The Ladies

By adalynn2016 |

The Swan Coach House is not just a classy restaurant where ladies delight to celebrate birthdays, bridal or baby showers, and reunions. There are also interesting and special goods to peruse and buy in displays beside the restaurant itself. A must fun place to bring your girlfriends.

In love with Swan Coach House

After the visit to the Georgia Governor's Mansion, it's the perfect place to have lunch, delicious food in the restaurant, gift shop, art gallery and Forward Arts Foundation. I'm sure next time in Georgia I'll be there again.

Lovely lunch in beautiful settings from a bygone era.

By Andy C |

Just like Swan House itself, when you step into Swan Coach House you find yourself stepping back into a different era. Beautiful decorated in keeping with the 1930s, the tables are also laid with crisp white linen, sparkling cutlery and pretty floral decorations. This really is a meeting place for ladies. Another reviewer mentioned a ratio of one man for every ten women and the day we visited it was probably one to fifteen. However, as a member of a mixed party or couple, men won't feel unduly out of place. Service is friendly and efficient; even if our rather mature server got somewhat muddled with our order and a bottle of red arrived as a bottle of prosecco (my wife happily drank this rather than cause embarrassment to the server!). The bread basket contains a beautiful selection of breads, including ginger bread, complemented by the subtlety flavoured butter. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. It is well worth trying their speciality 'Best of Both' - timbales of chicken and shrimp salad served with cheese straws and fruit salad. This might seem a strange thing to say but opt for the frozen rather than fresh fruit salad - it's a delicious combination of tasty fruit pieces frozen into ice-cream and, contrary to what you might expect, works really well with the savoury salads. Desserts are also delicious - once again the speciality French Silk Swan is dainty, delicious and certainly worth trying. Portion sizes are probably more suitable to the predominantly female clientele than a hungry man and male guests certainly won’t leave feeling overly full from what is really a light lunch. Prices for both food and drinks are very reasonable given the setting and quality of both the meal and service. How I wish I'd gone to Swan Coach House on my previous visit to the History Center rather than paying over the odds for the dreadful offering from the now, thankfully, defunct cafe in the Center itself!

A Gastronomical Gem

By dianel103 |

Tucked into a corner of the Atlanta History Museum property, but open to the public from Slaton Dr. is the Swan Coach House. While traveling we look for such venues: encountering dining that reflects the region we are visiting. The dining room was decorated beautifully. It was evident many locals frequent this restaurant for the food and the ambiance. A couple nearby requested a quick lunch as they had family arriving at the airport. They were served accordingly. A group of ladies were celebrating one's birthday with candles, singing, and opening delightfully wrapped gifts. As first time guests we were guided in our selection of soups, salads, sandwiches ending with their trade-mark Coca-Cola Cupcake with two forks. Table settings of China on linen table clothes and fresh cut flowers gave the meal a touch of, "You will remember this meal." The wait staff was friendly., knowledgeable , and helpful. While young children may not appreciate the fine points of such dining, most adults would find a quiet lunch at Swan Coach House a special experience.

Beautiful lunch!

By rbrown406 |

Very nice lunch with my wife here. While a majority of the guests were women I too enjoyed the experience. The service was very good as well as our meal. It was pleasant after touring the Swan House a few minutes earlier.

Perfect ladies spot

By Ann G |

We had the very best lunch. Wonderful salad options and fantastic muffins. We shopped in the adjoining gift shop.

Terrible business practice

By Adam |

This venue just canceled a comedy show that has been bringing them many patrons for several years based on political beliefs. Show was almost sold out and many people are out of money. Also, very limited drink selections and extremely overpriced.

I had never heard of this place before since we don’t come to Atlanta often. I found it when I was searching for restaurants in the Buckhead area since we were staying nearby. It is really beautiful and the employees are very welcoming. I loved it!

Charming Tearoom Atmosphere

By Deborah W |

The decor is lovely and so are the staff. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and the wait staff was also friendly. The food was excellent and we enjoyed our experience.

Classy place and good presentation food.

Had an early lunch/branch with a girl friend there. Service was great, the bakings were delicious, I had their chicken salad as all reviews says its theirs staple, it was good!

Swan So-So House

By atlfoodie2016 |

I have been attending bridal shower luncheons at the historical Swan Coach House for many years. Finally, I felt compelled to write a review. While the place is lovely and it is very traditional to have a bridal shower or baby shower luncheon or any type of ladies luncheon here, the food is just not good. Period. They have been serving the same ole same ole for years. Nothing is new or fresh or healthy and today's woman is most likely looking for some healthier options. As I was served the same old icky sweet mimosa (no high quality champagne here ladies) and the same old bread basket and baby food consistency chicken salad and sticky sweet congealed salad with stale tasteless cheese straws I thought, is it worth it just for a charming atmosphere to host a luncheon here? Would I want to host my daughter's luncheon here? Would she even want to eat this sub par food? So, I told her about it when I got home (she loves historical places and bygone eras) and she was like, No Way! The found sounds horrible, she said. And, well...she is right! Guess I can cross that one off my list! While I still enjoy going to luncheons here, I do not enjoy the food and never have. Go for the ambience and historical quaint charm and warm service and super cute gift shop experience. That's all.

Lunch in a gorgeous tea room

I just fell in love with the Swan Coach Inn. From the Christmas decor to the charming gift store to the scrumptious menu....very southern. Excellent menu choices and service.

Old Southern Traditions

By Becky J |

Attended a Bridesmaid Luncheon on Friday. Was met with valet parking. After a few minutes browsing the crowded gift shop, it was time to go upstairs to our event location. There was only one small old elevator - not enough to handle the volume of ladies trying to get to 2nd floor. After inquiring about stairs, I was escorted outside and around the side of the house to an old staircase. After our event which included a delicious lunch served on well-appointed tables, several ladies needed to visit the restroom. The one toilet would not flush. Then, the stairway used prior to the event, was closed off. As there were many ladies waiting for the small old elevator, I asked a server if there was any other way out. Several of us were then escorted to yet, another set of outdoor steps which required going through a room of ladies. The Swan House is an Old Southern Tradition, but it needs desperately to improve its accommodations for guests.

Disappointing :(

By Foodiegirl579 |

Disappointing- I reserved over a month in advance only to have them mess up my reservation for my fortieth birthday party with no apology. They rushed us out after average service. Since we couldn’t split the bill, which no one told us ahead of time, we thankfully were able to Venmo a friend. I’m glad I celebrated this milestone birthday, but am not sure this was the best location to do so.

A nice lunch while visiting Atlanta History Center

By Karoline86 |

My boyfriend had the Monte Cristo sandwich and I had the soup and sandwiches. Both meals were good. We had the pecan pie for dessert. It was delicious (I wanted the Coca-Cola cupcake, but they were sold out, but no regrets).

Lunch with Ladies

By Mary Anne H |

The Swan Coach House reminded me of lunch at Rich's as another reviewer mentioned. Our group had reservations and did not have to wait long at all to be seated. We wee there on a Tuesday. The room was not crowded. The setting was enhanced by fresh roses on each table. Our server was friendly and informative. Everyone seemed to enjoy the selections. I had the salad sampler. The presentation was lovely with each kind of salad served in an edible timbale. I would definitely return to this restaurant.

A step back in time!

By Gayle E |

Tea rooms and ladies luncheon spots were a staple in the South. This is no exception. They make a mean shrimp salad with a light yogurt dressing. Nice shrimp. Very tasty and filling. My hubby was one of three guys in the whole restaurant but he was not disappointed with his burger topped with pimento cheese. They had a basket of a variety of breads that were fresh and tasty. Lots of sweet breads from poppyseed muffins to gingerbread. Nice touch!

Elegance and Tasty

By Jodi H |

Oh the Swan Coach House is just wonderful! I almost felt like I had stepped back in time. It was all so elegant. My tea sandwiches were dainty and tasty. The favorite thing I ate was the frozen fruit salad. I really loved that. If you’ve never been here, you need to go at least once.

Seniors Outing

By Sarah R |

Lunch for a group of seniors. Accommodations made for the group and by the group. Have been coming for years twice a year. An Atlanta standard and tradition. Valet manners appreciated. It takes some time to load and unload a group! Food perfect! Service friendly! See you after renovation is complete!

Quintessential Ladies' Lunch spot

By DGandJudy |

We did spot a couple of men in the restaurant, but essentially this is a lovely and genteel place for ladies to have lunch. The room is airy and nicely decorated, the food -- Southern classics like cheese straws, chicken salad, and shrimp and grits -- is delicious, and the prices are not unreasonable. I highly recommend both the restaurant and the fabulous gift shop.

So good!

By Tamara M |

My husband and I took his sister and our brother in law to the Swan Coach House while we were visit the Atlanta History Museum. They loved it! The atmosphere is so nice and so unique and the food is delicious. The service is always great as well. Make sure to order the frozen fruit salad as a side and save room for a slice of the pecan pie, it is amazing!!

I wouldn't change a thing - it was perfect!

By somewhereingeorgia |

We went for lunch on a Saturday morning at the Swan Coach House. The rooms were filled to capacity but the noise level was low so we could talk and enjoy each other's company. There is valet parking at the door. (Hint: If you plan to tour the whole complex at The Atlanta History Center, you should park in the parking garage, visit the main building for Center tickets, and then walk through the Center to the Swan Coach House for a meal.) Because reviews online highly recommended the "Swan's Favorite" for lunch that's what most of us had and enjoyed. But, everyone around the table bragged on everything came out of the kitchen. I tried a tasty drink that had sweet tea, lemonade, bourbon, champagne, and strawberry! Dessert was a whipped cream treat in the shape of a swan. The decor was just as I had hoped - genteel Southern house, white table cloths, silver bread baskets, and helpful staff. In the same building is a well stocked and quite large gift shop. Just before I entered the restaurant I ran into one of my daughters who was there for a bridal shower, so keep this place in mind for special occasions, too!

A must if you're at the Atlanta History Center, and worth a stop even if you're not.

By Blue-Eyes-Fam |

The Swan Coach House is one of two dining options if you're at the Atlanta History Center. The History center has enough on display that you can easily spend the better part of the day there, so lunch plans are a must, and I do not recommend the Coca-Cola Cafe in the Main building as it is visually charming but offers nothing but a limited Chic-Fil-A menu at over market prices. The Swan Coach House on the other hand is a wonderful little Tea Room that has traffic and access independent of the History Center so is not solely dependent on it's captured audience for sales, and offers better fare at more competitive (albeit higher) prices. When me and the wife entered it was on a weekday and had about 50% occupancy, mostly ladies as would be expected in a Tea Room, but I was not the only male patron, and not in any uncomfortable. The server gave us a quick run down of recommendations on specials available that day, as well as her opinions (we asked) on what were the best options on the menu. The missus ordered the crab cakes, while I went with the House Burger, ordered medium rare with bacon and blue-cheese. While we waited we received a basket of bread which included corn muffins, zucchini bread, water house rolls and banana nut bread, and a ramekin of orange zest butter, which nicely complimented each of the various breads, and each was more delicious than the last and although I would feel slightly guilty for doing it, I could easily make a meal of these breads/muffins (which are served until you bust) and coffee or tea. Our appetites suitably whetted by the muffins, we dug into our lunch that was served quickly and without major errors (my wife ordered her crab cakes with roasted potatoes instead of rice, but it was served over rice. The one minor error was quickly corrected and apologized for). She enjoyed the crab cakes (2) which were fried golden brown on the outside while being moist and flavorful inside. The Broccoli casserole side was a good pairing and as enjoyable as the crab cakes. My burger, which did indeed arrive medium rare (a struggle for most kitchens these days) was all that you could ask for in a burger. Simply seasoned to allow the quality and flavor of the meat to shine, served on a toasted croissant style bun (the texture was of a croissant not the shape) and served with a pile of perfectly fried potatoes (although after sampling my wife's roasted potatoes I would be tempted to get those next time). With tip we were out the door under $40, and fortified and rested for the remainder of our day walking the gardens, exhibits and houses at the History Center.

My favorite special place

By susan M |

We love to celebrate at the Swan Coach House. We were there today to celebrate my niece graduation and acceptance to UGA. Food was delicious and we were made to feel very special. Such a lovely setting!

LOVE!!

By Tamara M |

My husband and I dined here for my birthday lunch. We were visiting the Atlanta History Museum and were so happy this was walking distance from the museum. This is a beautiful restaurant. The people at the front are very welcoming and friendly. Our server was nice but not overly friendly. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. My husband had a sandwich, which he really enjoyed and I had the seafood salad with the frozen fruit salad, which I LOVED. They start off your meal with a delicious bread basket as well. There is a nice gift shop on the grounds too. I will look forward to coming back to this restaurant in the future.

Poor at Best

By Stay276072 |

The soup was very very very salty. The sandwich bread was soggy. Three of us got the SWAN dessert and it was frozen solid. We had to use two forks each to break it apart. When we ask the wait staff if someone just took it out of the freezer, she did not respond. I would never go back again.

Very long wait for average food

By Rich N |

My first recommendation is to go at 1:30 unless you are part of a large group, the only reservation they take. We arrived at 12:15, we’re told the wait was 30-40 minutes, which turned into 65 minutes. This is a popular place for bridal and other shower events. When we visited, female patrons outnumbered men by about 5:1., most of them quite well dressed, so avoid very casual attire. The food was okay, but given the long wait and pricing, we were expecting something exceptional, which our meals were assuredly not. The portions were very modest. If you want a pleasant southern charm atmosphere, a leisurely pace and mostly light fare, this might be the place for you. At least you can kill some of your wait time at their gift/ceramic store, which is very nice. But if you are expecting a “wow” dining experience with good value, you will likely wonder what all the hype about Swan Coach is.

Loved the food and tea, but service wasn't that great

By Kelly H |

There were four of us that came in! We tried to make reservations for a tea party for a bachelorette party and were told we were not allowed unless there were 14 or more people. We were really excited to have a tea party, but we had to settle for breakfast where they only sold 2 or 3 types of teas. The food was very good and we enjoyed it, although while we were there, the servers weren't very attentive to us and seemed to be paying more attention to the people who were more well dressed than we were.

Great for brunch.

By Pete |

The food is delicious! It is a very Nice environment, it feel like you travel back in time. The quality of the food is very good, the desserts are homemade and you must go for the mimosas. A must in Atlanta.

Tasty lunch in a lovely atmosphere.....

By Ginny N M |

We visited the Museum nearby and had lunch here recently. Every item that was ordered was tasty. It was fun to see the large gatherings... a birthday party for an older woman and a sorority party for about 12 young ladies. Delightful.

Beautiful restaurant with southern grace.

By indy5410 |

The restaurant is genteel. It is like stepping back fifty years to where high society ate. The service is low keyed but attentive. Food was good but pricey. Had the chicken salad and pimento cheese sandwiches...nothing special but certainly not bad. My fiancé had the crab cakes and they were also good. Classy lunch spot but very expensive for what you receive.

Old, New South ... Ladies Who Lunch

By JLG_world |

I have never seen more than 2 men in this restaurant at a time. In that respect, it is definitely the spot for ladies who lunch. Bridal showers, birthdays are big here. But it is @ the Atlanta History Center & definitely has great food. The gift shop is worth a stop & there is also a gallery.

Lovely lunch!

By 2001NH |

Lovely lunch! The Moroccan mint tea and the ginger tea were great. The chicken salad was great. Loved the frozen fruit wedges. The ham biscuits were great - especially the orange marmalade. The fried green tomato salad was great as well! Excellent service as well

Delightful Dining

By JagPrincess |

This is a delightful place for lunch and not just for women! The decor full of flowers and charm makes for a pleasant dining experience in addition to the fabulous food! They have salads and sandwiches served with a yummy bread/roll basket.

A great lunch experience

By Terry S |

My wife and I always enjoy a lunch at the Swan Coach House when we are in Buckhead. The bread basket is incredible. We had a Chicken salad sandwich with the frozen fruit salad. It was fantastic as usual. The atmosphere is pure Southern charm. We highly recommend this restaurant

Wonderful Experience!!

By Patricia F |

My daughter took me to the 'Swan Coach House' as a post-Christmas gift. What a wonderful experience it was! This historic building is amazing; the décor is nostalgic, warm and friendly. The food was fantastic in presentation and taste. I ordered the vegetable soup (full of fresh veggies with a rich broth); 2 crab cakes (lump crab meat with a wonderful crust) and a house salad. My daughter ordered the tea sandwich plate with black bean/veggie soup. I had a champagne punch as well. Delightful and wonderful! Can't wait to go back.

Pleasant Surprise for a Private Function!

By Jim J |

Recently I attended a private reception in the private function area on the lower level that opens to the terrace. You can park on Slaton but there are limited spaces there. I would recommend Valet. The location is charming and the staff is friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The food was tasty and there was a nice variety of options. Great location in Buckhead close to W. Paces Ferry and the History Center.

Lovely lunch

By KGodinez |

Went there with my hubby and friend definitely felt under dressed. (We are from Az so we were all in jeans) the ladies who lunch were there and dressed very nicely so I would definitely do a little beyond business casual. Food was yummy and service was amazing.

Beautiful lunch

By Tom R |

This is a great treat when visiting the Atlanta History Center. It is beautifully decorated with a fun atmosphere. We ate all of the complimentary pastry basket - spice muffins, banana bread, and yeast rolls served with strawberry butter. While sandwiches and burgers are available, we had the salad sampler with chicken, tuna, and shrimp salads served in light pastry shells. The ‘frozen fruit’ side is spectacular - you must get it. The ‘French silk Swan’ desert was amazing, served on a meringue shell instead of pie crust. A very pleasant and relaxing place for lunch!

Fantastic lunch!

By Wendy H |

Recommend trying to frozen fruit salad, it is like nothing I've had before, just fantastic! Great atmosphere, and was exactly what I'd pictured in my head about a genteel Southern Ladies luncheon!

My friends birthday

By Juliana H |

I went last Friday to celebrate my friend's birthday. The restaurant was full, so we had to wait for a little bit, but the service was excellent. The hostesses were so attentive and warm. The waitress was so helpful even when we got into a small misunderstanding at the moment of ordering the dessert. What can I say? I have been Swan Coach House's client maybe for 12 years now. My daughter and I love to go every year to celebrate our birthdays.

A place for the girls

By Sheryl J |

The restaurant is definately a "girls" place to gather. Floral wallpaper, menu and you are surrounded by ladies. Nice atmosphere and the service was great.

A must

By tleeEvans |

Great restaurant on the grounds of the Atlanta History Museum. Wonderful service and food. I ordered their Monte Cristo sandwich with the side salad. Very good, my husband ordered the chicken wrap with the soup of the day which he really enjoyed. They bring some assorted breads to your table with flavored butter, we liked the gingerbread ones. If you have the time you need to eat lunch here as you will not be disappointed. I understand from some locals that their chicken salad is the best, so we will need to back and try it .

Great 60th birthday

Every time I visit, I love it more!! Service is great, food is delicious and outstanding ambience!! Chicken salad plates and signature swan dessert- awesome as always- you must order!!

Swan Coach Restaurant a culenary dellight

By Vacationer514905 |

You must try the Swan's favorite signature chicken salad served in hand-made timbales with a side of their famous creamy frozen fruit salad and cheese straws or the Best of Both - two hand-made timbales with their signature chicken salad and shrimp. Best to make reservations and why not visit the Swan House situated on the grounds which welcome you back to the 1930"s.

Wonderful and unique

By Tamara M |

The Swan Coach House is one of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta, because it is so unique. My husband and I recently brought my parents to lunch at the Swan Coach House after enjoying the day at the Atlanta History Center and the Swan House. Both of my parents were in love with this restaurant. They really enjoyed how beautifully everything was presented and loved the frozen fruit salad. After lunch we all visited the boutique and my mother was able to find something for herself in memory of the wonderful day they had.

Delicious food

By ancromer |

I went to the Swan Coach House for a bridal luncheon in December and it was delicious. This was my 2nd time here and I want to go back more. The food is wonderful. They have a signature dessert swan which is called the French Silk Swan.

Swan Roach House Avoid

By Paula S |

The Swan Coach House was closed for almost a year to get the bugs out, they didn't succeed. On our last visit creepy crawlers were the fare of the day. The manager did nothing to make things right. Won't be back.

Excellent Place to have Bridesmaid Luncheon

By Teresa2763 |

We had a bridesmaid luncheon here the week before my daughter's wedding and everything was perfect! The room offered us privacy and we were able to celebrate in style. They were accommodating and service was excellent. Everyone enjoyed the food and we could not be happier that we chose this location!

Birthday party

By panpanda |

I made a reservation a few months ago to hold my birthday party at the Swan Coach House Restaurant. The staff was exceptionally professional, calling me weeks ago to tell me that there would be construction noise in the main dining room. They then offered me space on Sally's porch or another part of the house. Beautiful room, beautiful set up, lovely staff. Great food for everyone. What else could a party giver want?

It was nice but I miss upstairs dining

By Cynthia R |

I remember when the windows and the view were enjoyed while dining. I felt the room was cramped and they sat 9 of us at a table that should have been a setting for six. The food was good the quantity would be considered a light lunch. It is a good place to lunch but it could be a great place to lunch.

Feeling fancy at the Swan Coach House

By jenned17 |

Perfect location for a girls lunch! We enjoyed an early lunch prior to our visit to the Atlanta History Center. The Swan’s Favorite is the go-to dish. Savory chicken salad, cheese straws and the best frozen fruit salad were delightful. Nice atmosphere, been with multiple wedding and baby showers going on around us. Enjoyed browsing the gift shop afterwards, as well. You just feel a little bit fancy dining at the Swan Coach House!

Lovely venue for the ladies!

By ajbailey2964 |

I recently held a 92nd birthday luncheon for my Mom at Swan Coach House. The wait staff was superb, the food was delicious and the venue was lovely ! Thanks to my friend Anne Dudley Hopkins, it was seamless from booking to event. Everyone was well attended to including my vegan daughter. Regards to the Sanders who worked diligently to make this event a success! Thank you Swan Coach House!

Nice Lunch in Victorian Setting

By Manny A |

Had a very nice lunch here while visiting the Atlanta History Center. It's decorated in victorian style with white tablecloths and nice plate settings. The food was very good as well as the service. They are doing some re-modeling so we ate upstairs, used the very unique elevator. Nice gift shop and friendly people downstairs.

Lovely Setting, Warm Hospitality

By Indy317T |

The restaurant was warm, friendly and had a delightful menu. It's an ideal location for special occasions, girls luncheons, bridal showers and much more. The menu was lovely and the surroundings a beautiful "step back in time".

Beautiful setting, good food and service

By Bev8789 |

We recommend you get there early as they don’t take reservations and there is usually a line for lunch. This is a beautiful place to bring friends or out of town guests for lunch. Our guys felt a bit out of place at first with it filling up with ladies, but soon saw other guys and relaxed. The dining area has been remodeled since I was last here, moving away from the pink to a more subtle and tasteful color palate. My husband enjoyed his crab cakes and we were impressed when the server asked the kitchen if they could make up cocktail sauce instead of the sauce that came with it, which they very kindly did. We enjoyed the blt’s and the club also. They have a fun gift shop too. We then continued our day touring The Swan House after a pleasant meal.

Lovely Ladies Luncheon

By Beachgirly1 |

Enjoy this wonderful coach house mansion to have brunch, lunch or tea time afternoon. The food was fairly good for this kind of place . My daughter and I also enjoyed the collection of unusual art pieces for sale in the adjacent rooms of the restaurant on the other side of the large gift shop. Worth the visit , but try not to go on a weekend or when there are wedding showers , etc . in attendance as parking lot valets are quite busy when people come in or leave at the same time !

Genteel South

By wayzata1 |

A favorite for ladies lunches, bridal and baby showers. My husband was 1 of only a handful of men in the restaurant. We had just visited the Swan House and ATL Museum and this is on the grounds. Foods steps back in time but is very good. Chicken, tuna and especially the shrimp salad are very good. Try the frozen fruit salad. You'll feel like you're enjoying your mothers luncheon. We loved it.

Swan disappointment after 20+ years

By Kathleen S |

We went to the Swan house today to celebrate the 75th birthday of our dear friend. The four of us have been celebrating at the Swan Coach House for over 20 years, often with our Canine Companions service dogs in training. Always welcomed, water and bits of chicken offered for our working pups. My daughter was married there. The last time we went, we were told, "you can no longer open gifts in the dining room." They let us quietly do so. Today, when a gift bag was pulled out after having lunch, the host rushed over and told us " We need the table for a 1:00 reservation." THEY DON'T TAKE RESERVATIONS FOR LESS THAN 8 PEOPLE IN THE DINING ROOM. We were at a table for 4! We were rushed out and told we could open gifts by the front door. So, sadly, the southern hospitality and joy of celebrating at the Swan Coach House is over for these long time patrons. We are looking for a new place to take our business that will welcome, celebrations, happy times, and respect for the people who will patronize their business.

Good food, nice atmosphere

By Jkshales |

We made a reservation for our group of 19 (definitely call to reserve a table if you have a larger group). Service was prompt and efficient, food was very good, and the atmosphere was quite charming.
