Did has great flavor... Brisket is tender and well seasoned. Chicken is most and tasty. Grits have great consistency and plenty of cheese. Macaroni is also good, but a little too spicy for my liking. The environment is nice an accommodated my family of seven with no issues. Parking is the only thing that might be a challenge ;however we went at a time the restaurant wasn't busy, so we got lucky.

I live in Augusta, Ga and work in Atlanta from time to time. I eat here 90 percent of the time due to the excellent food and service. The menu has changed and I do miss the smokehouse burger and a couple of other items but the things they replaced them with are fantastic. BBQ shrimp scampi and the Brisket dip are crazy good. I usually sit at the bar and the service and drinks are great. Please bring back the burger but also keep doing what you are doing!!!! Every time I have eaten here it has been consistently fantastic. See you guys and gals soon!!! Jason

Not really much to say. Had a pulled pork sandwich and it was good but nothing special. Hey, it's BBQ, so that's a head start. The sauce lacked punch but had pretty good flavor. The sandwich comes on Texas toast or something like that which might be okay except that they're a little stingy with the portions. I also had the grilled asparagus which was good but didn't really complement a pulled pork sandwich well. But that's not their fault. Service was fine. Not particularly friendly or unfriendly. Neither slow nor fast. Everything was like that—okay but whatever. There's just a lot better barbecue to be had. And for significantly less money.

My wife and daughter and I had lunch here yesterday. They have a Sunday brunch menu from 11-3. I had the barbeque brisket a side salad and potato hash. They were all good. My wife and daughter had veggie plates. I tasted the fries, collard greens and mac and chees and they were all good.

Bustling place, friendly staff and selection of draft beer on a blackboard. Wasn't too hungry when I went in, but ate every last morsel. Special credit due for the Green Beans side dish.

This was excellent! Our family ate here for lunch and we had a variety of menu options: greens, mac&cheese, BBQ tacos, and beef by the pound. All of our meat had great flavor and I loved all 3 of my tacos. We even ordered the pecan pie which was "to die for," in our opinion. The only reason I've rated it a "4" instead of "5" is because our server was a little slow and forgetful. Other than that, if you want good BBQ while here in Atlanta, trust this Texan: it's delicious!

not sure what they called it on the menu, but it was the large pulled pork plate with 2 sides. had mac and cheese, and stew with it. the stew was ok, have had better. the mac and cheese was some of the best ever. the pork was typical pulled pork with a good sauce. the tea was great, not too sweet. passed on sweets, was too full. will recommend this place. atmosphere was fitting for bbq place. service was good.

I enjoyed dinner at Sweet Auburn on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Shrimp and grits are fantastic. The wings are also very good (wutang wings). Service both nights was very good. I had the Shrimp and grits both nights and it was just as good each time. I ordered a small portion of pork bbq and a mac and cheese for lunch the next day. Pretty good as well but the Shrimp and grits are great in my opinion.

Heading out to Virginia Highlands for late night and stopped in Sweet Auburn for a pregame dinner. My date had the veggie plate ( okra, baked beans, slaw, sprouts )..all good stuff. I had the BBQ plate with brisket, potato salad and green beans. The brisket was super moist and tender, very good as were the sides. Service was solid and a small but interesting beer selection.

Clean and kind of trendy BBQ place with good service and reasonable prices. Our server was friendly, the bathrooms were clean and the food was good. The server told us the food had an Asian influence, but it was good. Wantons we're really good. Would definitely come back if in the area!

Great food! Earlier in the year wee visited Asheville NC, and every food there was amazing! Coming back, I was wondering if Atlanta has any restaurants "like that" and I am happy to say Sweet Auburn BBQ reminded me of that Asheville experience! I would highly recommended and will make it a favorite spot to eat at again and again!

This is a great place to eat BBQ. If your seeking an alternative to a tangy BBQ, then go here. Not too sweat and lots of Asian touches depending on what you get. Every item is flavorful and its a must try place. Prices fair for most items and hopefully remain fair.

Hit this place before going to a glass blowing studio. BBQ was awesome. I had the pulled pork and my hubby had a trio of BBQ tacos (each taco had a diff meat). So flavorful and the meat did not need sauce. (although they had a few to choose from if you wanted to be saucy)

Great BBQ spot! The smoked wings were flavorful and tender. I had the combo platter with pulled pork and Chinese BBQ ribs—the ribs were amazing, and the pork was good, just not as hot as I expected. Friendly service, great atmosphere. Parking is paid through ParkMobile, so have the app ready. Definitely worth a visit—I’ll be back!

WuTang wings were excellent , smokey, juicy, pop of flavor. Pulled pork was cooked to perfection. Cheesy ,creamy, flavorful, thick, Mac N Cheese, yummy!! Bourbon Pecan Pie, got to have it! Can't wait to comeback !

Went for the first time last night after having the Sweet Auburn BBQ food truck. It was AMAZING. We got the Wu Tang wings - best wings I've ever had. Smoked then flash friend. The flavor in the meat was ridiculous. I need to go back and try every flavor. Got the pork belly sandwich and king of Memphis sandwich (brisket), both were phenomenal. TONS of food, truly amazing quality. And so much bang for your buck. Based on the quality of the food and the fun vibe/farmhouse decor, I would have guessed prices would have been significantly more. We were beyond pleased and will definitely go back again and again.

They have all you can eat wings on Wednesday. They are large wings, good flavor. The Brussel Sprouts are the best ever!

We had a great lunch at Sweet Auburn barbecue. It was a challenge to choose because of all kinds of cool menu items to choose from. I ordered the bulgogi sandwich and a side of slaw that had papaya in it - both were amazing. Excellent service. Definitely want to go back.

We chose Sweet Auburn BBQ to cater our wedding because the food truly is delicious and the price was pretty good too. We were hopeful and confident that Sweet Auburn would help make our wedding a great day - unfortunately they were one of the bad memories of an otherwise wonderful day. A few weeks leading up to the wedding we decided to pay Sweet Auburn some extra money to make sure that we had plenty of food for the wedding - the last thing you want to do is run out of food for a wedding - guests travel a long way and deserve a good meal. So we paid the extra money and then when the wedding day came - we did not have as many people show up as we were planning so we felt like that would really help us with the food - but even though we had smaller numbers - Sweet Auburn still ran out of food. After we got back from our honeymoon I chose to contact Sweet Auburn BBQ to see if there was any recourse for them running out of food - they did not give us any money back and pointed the finger at others - the first time they said the cameramen continually came back for more food and then the second time blamed our wedding coordinator - they took no responsibility for a very basic requirement - don't run out of food. They also served the sweet tea straight from plastic gallon jugs which is not super classy for a wedding. We also specifically asked them to set up a water station in the barn for everyone to be refreshed in the summer heat for the dancing - they did not come through on this one either - so I had to get some groomsmen to go buy a bunch of waters from the local gas station last minute. Thankfully we had a wonderful wedding and everyone was happy for the most part - it is sad that when we do think of our wedding day - this is still a bit of a sore spot for us. If I had it to do over again I would hire Fox Brothers to cater the wedding - they seemed to be much more organized and have the plan together and I would be confident that they would have done a much better job - we came very close to choosing them at the time.

What a great place for a great lunch or dinner. If you are expecting your typical GA BBQ think again. Yes, they have great BBQ but served so many delight ways I had the BBQ Bowl, served with pulled pork atop creamy stone ground cheese grits. Wow!! They offer a unique variety of side dishes, you could eat here all day. When I' back in Atlanta for lunch, it's Sweet Auburn's for me.

Great place! Wontons are a must! The green beans were a great side. The wings-get then spottie ottie! Enjoy!

This is my favorite place to eat BBQ. Me and my wife usually get a meat plate and a veggie plate and share. The service is outstanding every time we go and the food is always great. If you want good BBQ and great service I would try them out.

If you're visiting the Atlanta Christkindl Market at the Lawrenceville Lawn this year, make sure you prioritize a stop at the legendary Sweet Auburn BBQ booth! This Midtown favorite is serving up comfort and flavor you can't miss. Must-Try Menu Items: The Mac n Cheese is absolutely legendary--creamy, cheesy perfection. The Chocolate Chip Cookies are simply the best holiday treat. But nothing beats their Gigantic Warm Pretzel! It's the fluffiest, butteriest Giant Pretzel I saw throughout the entire event. The staff was incredibly warm and accommodating. Service with a smile, even as the line grew! I was lucky to grab my order--prepared within minutes--thanks to a sweet young lady who took my order. It's been a minute since I've been to the Midtown Atlanta location, but this market stop reminds me I need to hit up Sweet Auburn BBQ again soon! LAST DAY OF THIS EVENT IS 12/24 Go get that pretzel and let me know your favorite item! #ashsaidit #SweetAuburnBBQ #AtlantaChristkindlMarket #LawrencevilleLawn #GwinnettCounty #ATLeats #AtlantaFoodie #GiantPretzel #BBQMacnCheese #MidtownAtlanta #GermanChristmasMarket #ChristmasMarketFood #AtlantaBBQ #GwinnettEats #FoodVendor #HolidayTreats #MustEatATL

Had lunch at Sweet Auburn while staying at Highland Inn next door. Pulled pork was very moist and flavorful. But the highlight was the smoked wings with Wu Tang sauce. With sriracha involved, this was obviously not a traditional Southern recipe. But the Asian flavors stood up to the brine/smoke flavor of the meat in a really unusual way. Don't miss 'em. Pleasant space with good beer selection.

My husband and I had dinner here in August prior to an appointment in Little Five Points. The restaurant is next door to the Highland Inn. It was a little difficult to decide what to order, everything sounded really good. We ended up with the Pimento Cheese Wontons as an app. I had the Sweet Auburn Taco Plate, you get one of each, the Korean Bulgogi is the best, followed by the Auburn BBQ and the Mexican Street. My husband had brisket and pulled pork with smoked corn salad, jerk spiced collards and baked beans. A lot of food, and unfortunately no room for dessert. Love the Asian influence. I also tried the "Don't Burn the House Down" cocktail. Good drink, but I thought it would be a tiny bit smokier. Would definitely recommend eating here, whether you live in Atlanta or visiting.

We love our bbq and researched those in Atlanta before choosing Sweet Auburn. The interior was simple but nice and spacious between seatings. Our waitress was fabulous, explaining our options. One of us ordered the chicken and it was a major disappointment, basically the meat of a chicken drumstick scraped off the bone. I asked for a replacement of the pulled pork and it was so much better. There wasn’t a bit of fat and was a nice mix of the hard, crusty bits and tender interior meat. We enjoyed the classic sauce offered. What made this meal were their sides, all of them excellent. We chose the green beans, a nice change of pace from the other usual, heavier options. Their cornbread was a muffin cut in half and toasted with bits of jalapeño. The collards weren’t soupy with broth and the beans had a nice molasses flavor but would have liked less meat in them. The Mac and cheese was good and the grits? Those were so thick and rich and cheesy, I could have eaten an entire bowl! When we received the bill, we noticed our server had removed the charge for the chicken and had not charged for the replacement pork. So nice of her to do that. We couldn’t remember her name but she mentioned she doesn’t eat meat so you know who you are! Thank you.

My partner and I were on a road trip that put us in ATL around lunch time. We had been craving some southern BBQ so the timing was just right. I found this place online. We are from TX so we know about BBQ and this Asian inspired joint did not disappoint! We had the wings (12) with all the dipping sauces on the side so we could try them all. The Wu Tang sauce is absolutely the perfect blend of sweet and savory sauce I have ever had. We shared a brisket plate with mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and green beans. It was all delicious! I also ordered the banana pudding...It tasted homemade but without the vanilla wafers I can only give it 3 out of 5 stars. As far as seating there are many options. Bar, booth, or table are all available. The staff and service were exceptional. Prices were reasonable...look at about 15-20 per person. If I'm ever in ATL again I will definitely be stopping by.

Have heard good things about this place so decided to give it a try. Busy place so that tells me something. Our waitress was Emily who did a great job taking care of us and knows the product very well. She tells me the owner is oriental which explains the soy/teriyaki flavor on some of the dishes. I liked it. I ordered a half rack of baby back ribs which were cooked perfect along with green beans and okra. Ate it all!! Had a bourbon Pecan Pie with ice cream for desert which was very good as well. Didn't taste any bourbon though. My wife had the brisket and said it was very good. I think next time, and the will be a next time, I'll do a pulled pork or brisket sandwich. If they had better sauces or more to choose from I would have given them a 5. I just didn't care for the sauces they offered.

The barbecue brisket was outstanding, and the bartenders were truly craftsmen! I have been there several times and it never disappoints.

We ate at Sweet Auburn BBQ after going to the Peachtree Road Race Expo. My husband and I had the Pork plate with Mac & cheese and Brunswick stew. The meal was delicious and fresh. The menu offers plenty of choices and the service is superb! Highly recommend this restaurant to those who love BBQ!!!

Best BBQ that I ever had in Atlanta. I had the combo, chicken and brisket. Good service, great atmosphere.

Sweet Auburn BBQ features delicious BBQ and southern classics with an Asian twist, a nod to sibling owners Howard and Anita Hsu’s cultural upbringing. The concept originated as a food truck and operated a counter at the Municipal Market (historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market) before taking over the brick-and-mortar previously housing Pura Vida in 2014. Sweet Auburn BBQ has locations in Atlanta (Poncey-Highland) and McDonough. Make sure to park in the parking deck across from the restaurant to receive validated parking; otherwise, you will have to pay a grip to park. Sweet Auburn’s smoked wings are a popular delivery item in my household. But my husband and I finally made an in-person visit for the February 2024 Indo-Chinese Dinner, a collaboration with popular pop-up Dhaba BBQ, The Chai Box, and highly heralded new Doraville soju tasting room Minhwa Spirits. We ordered: From the Specialty Menu: Curry Brisket Bao, Brisket Rendang From the Regular Menu: Pimento Cheese Wontons, Two Item Combo Plate (pulled chicken, smoked wings, Thai Chile Brussels Sprouts, mac and cheese), Jade Claw We did not have a bad bite! The pulled chicken was surprisingly moist and flavorful, the brisket tender, and the Brussels sprouts were spectacular. An added benefit was that the Brisket Rendang was so flavorful as a leftover. Needless to say, we will be back (word on the street is that the Banana Pudding is a must-eat), and Sweet Auburn BBQ has crept onto my ATL BBQ favorite list.

For an extended family Christmas outing, we took in "A Christmas Carol" at the Shakespeare Tavern then headed out for downtown dinner. After reading great reviews, we decided to give this locale a try. Our party of 8 enjoyed pulled chicken, sweet auburn tacos, brisket, and shrimp n' grits. The atmosphere was relaxed with fast service and plenty of seating. We would visit again.

Ordered from Uber Eats while working on Easter Sunday. I had the Memphis BBQ sandwich with the fried egg!! It was so delicious. The coleslaw, brisket... everything made for a perfect bbq sandwich. They were quick to deliver!

A large group of us went to Sweet Auburn BBQ. The restaurant was great and had set aside several tables for us. Since we also had a time limit, they announced which dishes would be the fastest to be served up. The table we were at, had actually ordered before that announcement, but it worked out just fine. The ribs all appeared to be fall off the bone done and the sauces were good. The spicy was spicy! Doesn't always happen! I had the Street Tacos - 2 with pulled pork and an Asian type of slaw and a Mexican style with an avocado crema. Both were excellent! Parking is difficult, we managed to find a spot on the street about a block away.

I went here on Thursday. Parking is only available in front of the building or on the side street next to it’s corner. This building is connected to another. You will get towed for parking in the other establishment spaces. Food is delicious. I got a brisket sandwich with fries and sauce. I tried the chicken wings got a half dozen they were good. I got a bucket of rinds. I devoured the rinds in my car on the way home.

small get to know your neighbor better over great bbq kind of place. big, meaty fat boy ribs smoked to perfection and slathered with a fine flavor enhancer sauce. firemen frequent the place, for the the food i suspect tbut it's and older establishment so they may be on a preventive mission. home of great bbq

We stayed at the highland inn which is next door. That's another story! The fist night we went there we shard some ribs that were great. A little wet for my appetite but not that sticky sweet that often comes with wet ribs. Our second trip we tried their wings with the wu-tang sauce. We had them done extra extra crispy and they were the the best we've ever had. Prices are very reasonable and service was wonderful.

If you are looking for a unique BBQ experience, this is the place to go. Sweet Auburn offers many unique dishes and my meal was no exception. Their BBQ sauce is extremely flavorful, and their meats are tender and juicy. Overall my experience was very pleasant, and I hope to return soon.

Excellent barbeque. 6 hungry men were defeated by the enormous portions and excellent quality of southern meats. Friendly staff in a very cool environment. Laid back. Clean facilities.

It was just.....ok. It seems that they only know one seasoning and that is SPICY. Everything just seemed spicy to me. This place was recommended by a fellow co-worker to I decided to check it out since I was in-town. This just goes to show you that every ones taste buds aren't the same. I've had better. I personally won't be recommending to anyone....... but to each their own. I would add though, it had no bearings on the atmosphere and the friendly and fast service. Those two things are always appreciated.

Was really surprised during our first visit. The food was delicious and the service was superb. I would recommend the fries and the rest coleslaw.

Get a rack of ribs at this place and prepare to be amazed. Fall off the bone goodness. You can smell it from a block away. Go there and go quickly!

After a visit to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center, we decided to go to Sweet Auburn BBQ for a late lunch. It was a great choice. I had the brisket, which was done perfectly. The side dishes of mac & cheese, veggies, etc. were all wonderful. Others in our group had the ribs and chicken and also raved about it. The service was fantastic; friendly and attentive. The ambience was a bit like a roadhouse but fit the food selection well. We highly recommend this restaurant. There is no parking lot so you might have to search for street parking.

This place is awesome. Great atmosphere, friendly service and the food is amazing!!!! Great mix of traditional bbq with asian influences. The taco place is soooo delicious and the potine appetizer is a must try too. Our entire party had different entrees and everyone thought their food was delicious. Can not wait to return!!!!

Party of four, husband, sis, and bro in law and I decided to try Sweet Auburn while out shopping in the area. Glad we did! All of us had the Pulled Pork BBQ Plate, the BBQ was good but had so many sides to pick from, they were the star! I had the Mashed Potatoes and Pear Apple Slaw, hubby had the coĺlards and the Baked Beans, everyone enjoyed their meal and everything was really delicious! They offer a 4 plate veggie option too, may have to try that next time! Will have to try the dessert next time too!

Sweet Auburn lives up to its reputation for really good barbecue. Two items of special note - the pulled pork with grits and the ribs were outstanding. A half rack of ribs proved to be more than we could eat but it was great to take them home and have the rest for lunch the next day

I ahd the Blue Plate Special with BBQ pork for lunch. It was very good, not too much meat, served on aluminum foil instead of a bun which is fine with me. The side order was Jerk Collards; the best I have ever tasted! Another member of our group had the short BBQ ribs. It was an enormous serving. Service lady was very attentive. Atmosphere is unimpressive, so go for the good food.

I got to this restaurant just before the kitchen closed one week night. I got there about 15 minutes before and they made sure to inform me (in a very nice way, not in a rushy way) so that I could make sure to get my food before they stopped serving. I have the pulled pork & fries with cole slaw to go. My food came out within about 15 minutes. The servers who I dealt with were very courteous, efficient and helpful. And when I got back to my hotel room, my meal was delicious, including the dipping sauce for the pork...also, large - I couldn't quite finish it off. I have zero complaints and would definitely eat there again.

If you want to taste one of the best ribs in Atlanta, here you have to stay. Overmore a nice craft beers selection can be very good for you.

We stopped in for dinner and we're very, very pleased. Our hotel is next door and the desk clerk recommended we try it. Fantastic. My wife had the brisket sandwich (au jus sauce and fries included) and I had the brisket BBQ plate (sides of green beans and baked beans - fabulous - included). A couple of local craft beers each rounded out things. We were pleasantly stuffed. We walked up and down Highland Ave which is a "happening" place. Highly recommend Sweet Autum.

We visited on a Sunday. It was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was casual, our server was friendly ( she was also the bar tender) and the food was delicious! The pimento and cheese wontons starters were oh so yummy! Our party of 5 all ordered different entrees and everything was great! We are from Louisiana and my mother said her shrimp and grits were the best she ever had and this is a BBQ fusion restaurant.!! The rest of our party had different BBQ. The chicken and meats were enough for two! We all had to go boxes. Wish I lived closer because I would become a regular. We will be back on our next visit to Atlanta.

Fantastic baby back ribs. Get them spicy--best ever. Portion sizes are very big so be mindful. Brussels sprouts were okay, but it is hard to mess up Brussels sprouts with bacon. Okra could have been better.

I was at a conference in Atlanta that had food catered from Sweet Auburn BBQ and it was a huge hit! The meat was tender and flavorful and the Macaroni and Cheese was some of the best I've ever had.

We stopped by for lunch after a recommendation from a local shop keeper. It was fantastic! We had the pulled pork, chicken, cheese grits, and mac-n-cheese. All was great!

Went on a Friday afternoon and ordered the chicken, mac and cheese with fries and a sweet tea. Cool, comfortable atmosphere in a hip neighborhood. Food was fresh and great. Would recommend this place.

Ate from this company's food truck at a company party. Food was pretty good. We had chicken, brisket, and pork. I also had mac and cheese and beans. Food was flavorful and portions were good.

Ate a late lunch here with a friend. I ordered the veggie plate (4 sides for $11), and couldn't finish it all. The food was tasty, the service was good, and the setting is eclectic. Parking may be difficult; we found a spot on the street a half block away.

Late Friday night dinner with friends. The best part of the meal was the cornbread! Go just for it! We also ordered veggie plates and a brisket plate. The portions were plentiful. We enjoyed the mac and cheese, grilled okra and baked beans. The brussel sprouts and green beans tasted good but were too greasy. The only meat, brisket, was a little dry, (per a Texan brisket fanatic.) We all agreed that the cornbread was fabulous. Note that parking is tight and signage was not clear. I left with a full stomach and a parking ticket.

Being from Texas I normally do not look for brisket or bbq in other states. I have to say this was among the best brisket I have ever eaten.

I wasn't expecting much, I was just looking for a quick, cheap, small meal to keep me from being ravenously hungry later when we went somewhere nice for dinner, but not so much that I would have no appetite. At any rate, it was delicious! I can't stop thinking about it days later! The pulled chicken sandwich and the macaroni and cheese were weird, but completely amazing!

We were staying nearby and wanted a quick lunch and chose to give Sweet Auburn a try and were very glad we did. We ordered a half dozen Lemongrass-Coconut wings and each had a pulled pork sandwich. All the food was impressively flavorful and presented. The fries that came with our sandwiches were some of the best seasoned I've had. The pork on the sandwiches was in large, well cooked pieces and very filling.

We only ate here once but everything looked great on the menu! We had the pimento cheese wontons and Wu Tang wings. Both were excellent and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Wish I had more time to try other things but I highly recommend this place!

It was different. I am from South Carolina. I see now it's a difference in BBQ. Wish they had parking because parking around it is for the hotel next to it. Thank god... I was staying a that hotel. Lol

This BBQ joint is a long way from the city’s Auburn Avenue, which in the early part of the 20th century boasted such a concentration of black businesses, newspapers, churches, and nightclubs that, in 1956, Fortune magazine called it "the richest Negro street in the world" (a phrase originally coined by a local civil rights leader). It was dubbed “sweet” because Atlanta’s prosperous black middle and upper classes made such good livings from those businesses. Martin Luther King, Jr., grew up here, just a few blocks from Ebenezer Baptist Church where his daddy preached. But the name makes sense once you learn this restaurant is an outpost of the original in downtown’s Sweet Auburn Curb Market, the city’s historic and recently “reborn” municipal market-cum-eateries. The interior décor is in the in-vogue rough wood planks, finished concrete vibe. One very large room, where you enter, holds the bar and a couple of booths; it was practically deserted when my husband and I popped in for a quick Labor Day lunch while running errands. Adjoining it is the main eating venue, not as big but it still got pretty loud with a full afternoon crowd. Service was fast and friendly, although a tad haphazard. Perhaps our waitress was distracted, but she brought my unsweetened iced tea with no lemon or sugar substitute (as requested), and nothing to stir it with. (I've noticed lately that my knife or fork--or finger--is meant to do such double duty in more and more restaurants. Not a good sign.) Later, when she took my glass away for a refill, she again forgot the lemon (as requested). Upon prompting, she returned with an almost unsqueezable slice meant for garnish, from the bar. Ah, well....I was in a mellow mood. As to the all-important sauce. Two squeeze bottles were on the table, one vinegar based, the other tomato based, both mild. Asked about something to ramp up the heat factor, the waitress said they had Sriracha and a couple of other bottled sauces. Bottled anything is heresy to my husband. But chat a while longer and come to learn that a homemade concoction, based on the tomato strain, is also stashed in the back. She brought some in a very small bowl—for good reason. It was delicious but a little went a long way to put just enough bite into the yummy pulled pork on our Sweet Auburn BBQ Plates ($13). Plates also come in pulled chicken and brisket versions, the latter $2 extra. Included were two sides from a list of 13, which normally are $3 each if ordered separately. There are such expected dishes as fries, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and Brunswick stew, but also green papaya Asian slaw, pear coleslaw, stone ground cheddar grits, grilled okra, and skillet green beans. Both of us chose the Borracho Baked Beans, which were a unique version of the old standby—borracho means “drunk’ in Spanish and you’ll just have to Google a recipe to glimpse how the humble pinto bean gets so good (and spicy) without Bush’s help. I paired them with Jerk Spiced Collards (delicious, with a just-right crunch and perfect fire) and hubby got the Brunswick stew, which he pronounced “okay." Too bad Jalapeno Cheddar Cornbread with Sweet Sorghum Butter wasn’t a side; if there was enough in the “basket” listed under Appetizers to make it worth $8, it would have been way too much for the two of us. But we’ll try it next time, along with the mystifyingly yummy-sounding Pimento Cheese Wontons with Bacon Marmalade and Sweet Thai Chili Sauce, also $8. Those and a few sides…and dessert (maybe a Praline Basket or a Mexican Coke Float)…should do us just fine.

Parking is a problem but it is worth driving around until you get one at this BBQ restaurant. A pulled pig platter with Brunwick Stew and Mashed with gravy for only 13 dollars will fill you up and make you happy.

This was by far the best ribs I have had so far. It was so good, there was no need for the sauce. But the best part was the hand cut fries. I usually have mayonnaise with fries, but not these. Spiced so cleverly and brilliant, they would make a dish on their own. Our waitress Bea was top friendly and attentive. The prices are absolutely reasonable. Actually, given the quality of food and service, it is a bargain. The interior is minimalistic with a rustic touch, very comfortable. TOP NOTCH, a definite recommendation!

Very good BBQ. What is different from many other BBQ places around Atlanta is that they have very good sides and a wide selection of them. Additionally, the atmosphere and the location is a little more clean and fancy than the other places. Pulled pork tasted great with the goat cheese brussel sprouts.

Sweet Auburn has it all. Great service, good beer selection including local brews, and amazing food! The atmosphere and decor are rustic modern, perfect for the price point of the food served. They serve a cocktail infused with CBD, but can also add it to any drink, even a can of beer. The waitstaff is well educated on CBD and was able to answer any question had. The jalapeno cornbread muffins were a great start to the Auburn Taco Plate and Pulled pork plate we chose. We were too full for dessert, but will try the Pecan Pie next time!

I visited Sweet Auborn BBQ on the recommendation of my daughter who had not been there prior but was eager to dine there because of a sampling of brisket given to her by a co-worker. At first, I had declined her offer simply because their menu "appeared" to be "limited". I arrived right before 10pm and was warmly greeted by the hosted who then showed us to our table. The interior of the restaurant is very simple yet cozy. The food was great (I ordered the brisket which was served with mashed potatoes, asparagus and a wedge of bread) and reasonably priced. I will definitely go there again. I would give them 5 stars if parking was on site

Lots of BBQ in ATL and whose the best... Very Debatable but one thing for certain for me is that this was some of the best Beef Brisket I’ve eaten outside of Houston. We started with Jalapeño bucket of cornbread (flavorful and not hot). Pull Pork Nacho’s and pork sandwiches w/fries were my family’s favorite. I had combo plate of Pull Pork and Beef Brisket. The seasoning on the brisket crust along with tenderness just made my combo plate worth every bite. I had Mac & cheese and seasoned fries. Both were excellent with a twist of flavor and style.reat service from Janey made for a great meal visiting kids in ATL. Highly recommend...

I have been going here for years. Flew into Atlanta for Christmas and took an hour trip to get my sweet auburn barbecue fill. Apparently, you can't park anywhere anymore, because you will be booted. $75 later and an angry family- thanks for the experience and not caring. Our business has been lost.... there were no signs in the one spot we occupied in the very front of the parking lot also.

Absolutely outstanding. I dined solo and ordered the 2 most highly touted menu items, expecting to take half of it home. Pimento cheese wontons as a starter, King of Memphis Melt sansdwich (pulled pork version) entree. Savored 1/2 the wontons before sandwich, the remainder for dessert. The Melt sandwich is stacked high. Cut it in half, picked up a half, and hands were covered in egg yolk. Conclusion: This is a knife and fork sandwich, even if other patrons call you a girly man. I could not stop eating halfway thru as planned. My exotic cocktail was excellent, probably due to fresh juice ingredients. My first of 4 nights in the neighborhood. I shal return!

First experience of US BBQ: was not disappointed. Great food, and great service (especially from friendly barman Frank). Will be back if I'm fortunate enough to come to Atlanta again.

I placed a to go order today. I tool 20 min. to get my order. There were people that came in 10 min. after I did, getting food. I went to the bar and the guy pretended not to see me while he polished glasses. My order had been sitting getting cold. The guys response was 'Oh yea'. There was no parking. The sign said parking across the street. Which meant park on the curb and walk, if you can find a spot. I asked for 2 orders with side. All the meat was in one try and sides in another. Pork was okay. The potato salad was fair. The onions on top didn't add anything to it. The music would have been to loud to have sat down inside. I will not go there again!!!!!!

I ate here at 12 noon on a Friday afternoon, and the place was empty. It was a bright, sunny day outside, but the inside of the bar was dark and a little stuffy. I can see this as a great place to hang out at night, but not so much during the day. There was a great on-tap beer selection. I ordered pulled pork with grits and collared greens. The pork was delicious - a big, generous portion of juicy goodness. There were two sauces on the table to choose from; either a vinegar base or a sweet tomato base. The sweet BBQ sauce was yummy. I didn't really like the sides. The grits were too thick, almost of a custard consistency, and needed salt. The collard greens needed another hour or two of cooking, as they weren't soft enough, and the pot liquor was only so-so. I would eat here again for the BBQ, but try different sides next time.

In a city known for great barbecue, Sweet Auburn has to rank right up there with the best. Our party of 4 each ordered a different entree, and all were spot-on. My wife got the shrimp-and-grits; full of flavor, fresh shrimp, and the corn on top added a nice southwestern flair. My son's girlfriend got the pulled pork bowl while my son went with the pulled pork melt. Both were awesome. I opted for the chicken--so moist and tender with an underlying smokiness. For dessert the banana pudding ranks among the best I have ever had. Friendly service sealed the deal. A great experience and we will return next time we are back in the city.

All food for our group was tasty, but ribs were very tough. Asian slaw was excellent. Potato salad was standard. We had a new server and he was very slow and not prepared for questions from our group. Price was reasonable so I may go back with friends, but it is not a place I would search out again.

Staff was friendly. BBQ was not too bad. I had their pulled pork. I love their skillet green beans. Portion sizes were just right. They also have some Mexican and Korean inspired food. It's a laid back and relaxing place for dinner. Our hotel was nearby, so this was a convenient place to go eat. Parking may be hard to find, so don't mind a short walk to the place.

Was in Atlanta for a conference not far away. After cramming 8 of us into a ride share we unloaded at this BBQ Valhalla. The servers were fantastic, helpful, engaging. The atmosphere was laidback. The food? In the best of traditional Southern style, the food was fantastic, fresh, and plenty of it! I ended up eating not only my food but part of a friend’s brisket… and I’m not a fan of brisket! I love this place. Y’all rock!

The food in this place is delicious! The best dish?! The Wu-tang Sauce Smoked Wings!! The sauce is soo addicting! And the Pimento Cheese Wontons are to die for! This place is a BBQ and Asian fusion! It is delicious. The food comes out fresh and hot. They also have great drinks and good service. Parking could be a little tricky, there is a paid lot across the street, Not ideal but it works.

We stopped in a SWB and decided to take it to go. We ordered 3 sweet auburn's to go, each with pork, and 2 sides. There was a variety of baked beans, Mac and cheese, green beans, collard greens, each came with Toasted Texas toast, and bow sauce. Overall it was good. The pork was a little dry, but tender. The Mac and cheese was delightful, the green beans were fresh green beans which I loved, sautéed just perfect, they were awesome. The baked beans needed salt big time, they were very bland, and the collard greens were good. They had a smoky taste to them, and were spicy, I enjoyed them. Overall it was a good restaurant, and I'd go back to try different menu items. 👍🏼

Nice and casual. Eat inside or out. BBQ was delicious and the dessert (banana pudding) YUM. Super fast service and a place to see for sure.

A must for anyone looking for a unique BBQ restaraunt. Great food and service. It's southern bbq with an Asian touch. Pimento Cheese wonton was a perfect starter highly recommended by the server and she was spot on. The Shrimp and Grits were to die for. The brisket was awesome. All capped off by a present surprise of a free serving of banana pudding (with a Carmel drizzle it was delicious) when it was mentioned upon arrival that I was celebrating my son's birthday. Talk about going the extra mile. Will definetely make this a regular dinner night out when I'm in Atlanta.

It was good. .they had prompt service in seating us but big delay when she walk passed us three or four times then that look you give to the next person that walk pass me again is going to be a problem and she saw that and said I'll be right with yall.. after that everything was rushed even though we told her it's our first time..so i decide to get something to drink to calm my nerves before I snap we already had to find parking bc they dnt have it then when you do you have to pay at the meter until 10:00 pm.. whoosa moment.. any way we order i appetizer which was the bbq wings and my drink was the emergency beer which has a little lemon in it i want order that again..next i food came out the Brunswick stew was not that good and not very hot but the grill green beans was awsome with that onion and the spicy spare rib was a nice spicy dish i would get it again the coleslaw was nice also.. my old man didn't care for his sides like the mac cheese was not it and the jerk greens taste horrible and i love jerk plus no damn flavor so we changed it for the mash potatoes which was better then we order..we order i dessert to go which was the banana pudding and the pecan pie... that banana pudding was horrible not a damn cookie was in the to go container he was pissed abt tht never again for 79.00$ u with think top notch but i said one more time so i can do the brunch buffet with some friends on Sunday.. i guess we see how this go. ..give me luck

So I have been here at least 10 or 15 times now....why did I wait to write a review? Not sure I think I was waiting for someone to just blow it, or for it to be just a " one off" experience...but I can sincerely say I have never had a bad meal or experience here. The servers are very knowledgeable about all of the food and special drinks...you have to try some of the special cocktails.... If you go on Fri/Sa/Su you may have a wait but it's worth it. My food recommendations - hands down "best brisket" in ATL tender, delicious never dry...a few drops of the house sauce..delicious! Sides - Mac n cheese, stoneground grits & cheese, green beans...just the right amount of crunch not cooked to death....Brussels sprouts roasted...they have a little charred grill flavor that just add to the whole bite....those are my personal faves.. Appetizer - pimento cheese won-tons ?? WHAT u say????? Until I had my first bite served with this Thai chili style sauce..I thought the same thing...gotta love-em..and recently I was there and they had a Chefs special BBQ Pork Spring roll....I really hope those become a regular feature...really tasty! You can't go wrong here....there are some parking challenges currently - but some construction going on in the area adds to that issue...but park and walk...you won't be sorry that you did!

This was our first visit and we need to go back a lot to try all the things on the menu we liked. I had a classic pulled pork sandwich and fries. Love there BBQ sauce. Fried are hand cut and very good. Spouse had the Korean rib sandwich and he loved it.

This is a small, local barbecue restaurant. The food is good with quite a variety of offerings. The main drawback to this restaurant is location. The only parking is on the street wherever you find it. It's small so if you have a large party be sure to make reservations. They have specific rules for their reservations so be aware.

Love this place. You have to try the pimento cheese wontons they were to die for. Also love my cheese grits, and the mint julep. It was our first time in Atlanta and wanted a very Southern restaurant with barbecue and this delivered. I would totally go again.

The food here was just great. The waitress was very fun and helpful. The menu was full of choices. There were 8 of us that ate there at all thought the food and service was great. Wish we would have had time to go back

This was our 3rd time visiting Sweet Auburn. It's next door to the Highland Inn, which makes it the perfect dining location when we check in. The $2 Taco Tuesdays can't be beat! We will return.

Every menu item we have tried has been out of this world. You can't go wrong. Definitely try the pimento cheese wontons. Great cocktail and beer list. Well done casual atmosphere with lots of quaint touches. Friendly staff.

we had lunch. the service was great and the lunch special was even better. an interesting selection of side and also gallons of iced tea.

Great atmosphere, good value and very friendly. Pulled pork and grits excellent. Local beer on tap. What more could you want.

This food made me really happy!! I was exhausted but a friend was in from out of town so I opted to grab a quick bite at Sweet Auburn BBQ and I was so happy that I did!! It was on the later side so it wasn't super crowded (I really shouldn't have been eating that late lol) so we were seated right away. Heather was amazing! Her knowledge of the menu and detailed explanations helped me answer any questions I had about the menu! This food literally pepped me up! 🤗🤗The #PurpleDrank tasted like grape Kool-Aid and if you like a bit of spicy kick...omg the jalapeño cornbread was ridiculous! What's crazy is, I don't really love pimento cheese but you would have thought that I did the way I devoured the pimento cheese wontons😂! The brisket was so unbelievably tender and of course the BBQ sauce made it finger lickin' good. I mean you really can't go wrong here! I was literally taking breaks to allow my food to digest so I could eat more... shame on me, I know 🤷🏽♀️😂! So you can get different sauces I guess on the ribs and I went for it because I wanted to try something new... it was like a coconut flavor... not my favorite, But... I don't Love coconut like that.. go figure. I dipped it in the regular barbecue sauce and it was totally fine. If you love coconut you'll probably love it! The parking is about a block away and it was raining but the food was so good I really didn't care lol! So the moral of this review... if you want to be happy Eat at Sweet Auburn BBQ 😂😂. When you go... Tell them #Ony sent you. #BonAppetit

We went for Wednesday all-you-can-eat wings! You will not be disappointed. Everything is made from scratch and hits all the right tastebuds.

Three of us went for lunch one day. We were seated promptly. We placed a drink order and I asked our waitress to recommend an appetizer. She did not hesitate and said the Wu Tang Wings so we placed an order. We continued to look the menu for a few minutes and eventually ordered a couple Sweet Auburn plates with chicken, build your own with brisket and pulled pork, Asian slaw, pear slaw, mac & cheese and potato salad. A short time later a gentleman came to the table with all our food except our appetizer. I said, "well I guess we won't get to try the Wu Tang wings today". He quickly apologized and said he would send some out and they would be on the house. GREAT customer service. And the wings turned out to be my favorite thing and we tasted off each others plates. The chicken was a little dry but everything else was pretty good.

Best BBQ in Atlanta, this place is OFF THE CHARTS! Originally ordered for curbside pick-up from the Highland Ave. location but decided to enjoy our meal on the beautifully lit outdoor patio along with some IPAs. For starters, we had the Wu Tang Wings. Hands down some of the best wings I've ever had - just the right amount of tang and kick to get you into the BBQ spirit. Those were followed up by a 1/2 pound of brisket, the Brisket Dip Sandwich, the King of Memphis Sandwich w/ brisket, and mac and cheese on the side. The meats were smoked to perfection and paired with delicious side sauces we couldn't help but keep pouring on our sandwiches. In addition to the food, the staff was incredibly professional and respectful, the restaurant was pristinely decorated, and the overall dining experience was a 10/10. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic and high quality BBQ in the Atlanta area!!

My family and I had a great time. The food was top noch and our server Tyler was so friendly. He made sure that all our needs were taken care of and we especially loved the pulled pork. Highly recommend to anyone traveling through Alranta or staying there! 2 thumbs up!

This is an amazing location for bar-b-cue that is delicious and not the typical fare. The appetizers, particularly the pimento cheese wantons, are amazing and the meats stellar. The pear coleslaw is a wonderful complement to the meat, while the maple brussel sprouts will turn a non-BSE to a Brussel sprouts eater - in 1 or 2 bites. Worth the walk to find legitimate parking where you don't stress during dinner that you will be towed! Try it, you'll see!

Excellent BBQ! We ventured here from a downtown event and were so glad we did. Worth the quick detour. Enjoyed the pulled pork, the sweet chili brussel sprouts, the cornbread, and the nachos. The dessert looked amazing too. The chef came to see us at our table which was a treat too.

My family and I traveled to Atlanta from NC looking for great BBQ. To our disappointment the food was just average. I ordered the brisket platter and received only 2 pieces of brisket. My son ordered the half chicken platter and got a half cooked piece of chicken. We informed the waiter to which he replied that it was the brine they used. I have never seen a brine that bleeds. The only good dish was the Shrimp and grits. The corn salsa was delicious. Our waiter was disinterested and forgetful. Unfortunately, this place will not get our business again.

Upon working a long day on Labor Day, I decided to treat myself to some BBQ. I can safely say that I am a BBQ connoisseur; but I stick to the Chicken. A place that I'd been wanting to try out is Sweet Auburn BBQ (N. Highland location). When I stopped by, I assumed that this will be your "standard" BBQ restaurant...I was pleasantly surprised that it was NOT. I go online and find that the owner is Howard Hsu (he is of Korean descent). Not only is their BBQ Southern-Style, but that the food also has an Asian, artisan flair to several items on their menu. I find this mix of Southern and Korean food and culture appealing. It's rather unique. For me one downside to their menu is not enough variety in terms of how you'd like your meats prepared. For example, I prefer my chicken all-white meat and no dark (I know...I'm picky like that). When I ordered their half-chicken plate, the white and dark meat are served together. Since they would not accmdate an all white meat plate, I opted for their pulled chicken sandwich plate, with a side of Caribbean jerk-seasoned collards, and mac and cheese. You only receive one side for any sandwich plate. The chefs use 2 slices of Thick, Grilled, Buttered Texas Toast...instead of a bun. A side of BBQ sauce and extra sweet pickle slices for condiments is added. I have to say....this was money well spent! This plate is wonderfully tasty! I will be back one day.

We ate at Sweet Auburn BBQ, and it was excellent. We had wings for an appetizer, and they were delicious. For an entree, I had pulled pork and brisket. My wife and daughter split a BBQ sandwich, and my daughter's boyfriend had the BBQ nachos. The portions were generous, and everything tasted great. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Great food, great atmosphere, great for kids and families. Parking is really the only catch. Every person loved their food...I tried most of everything. The pimento cheese wonton are really unique and the cornbread with the sweetened butter are not to be missed for starters. The cheese grits are great but the green beans were my favorite. Not a fan of the mac and cheese. The shrimp and grits were fabulous according to my daughter and MIL. Bbq pulled pork is great. No one had the brisket so can't really speak to it. Too full for dessert, alas, because the pecan pie looks amazing. Got to have a reason to go back, I guess :-) don't miss this one when you are in the ATL.

The staff are excellent, drinks great, barbecue is excellent, but still not as good as some of the other barbecue spots around. I had the barbecue tacos, and really liked the way they turned regular barbecue into something special. The Korean taco with short ribs was spicy and good, but I did get one full mouthful of fat which rather grossed me out and made me leary of the rest of it. The brisket with corn salsa and avocado crema was excellent as was the pulled pork with pear slaw. All three very different and delicious. That said, my husband got just the plain pulled pork, and I think that was the winner. I'm not sure how much I love messing with barbecue. The 420 Borracho baked beans were a hit, the potato salad was a definite miss just plain boring. Mac and cheese was good, but maybe a little grainy (not sure how to describe it correctly.)

By far the best barbecue place in Atlanta. From excellent service to meeting the owners and explaining everything on the menu. This is like walking into a great big family restaurant in a small quaint neighborhood with the best tasting food in Atlanta. This is a must try from the appetizers to dessert. Jalapeño cornbread to the cheese wontons to the Girl Scout mint cake and the warm Pecan pie with vanilla ice cream, and everything in between. This place actually deserves 10 stars

Great BBQ with a Korean twist. The sides I had (Asian slaw and string beans) were delicious but surprisingly spicy. Loved the pulled chicken with BBQ sauce. The beef and pork tacos were also delicious.

I asked for Korean Steak, and I was given beef brisket. This is the second time that my order was compromised. I am highly disappointed.

We came here with our 10 month old daughter and it was the perfect spot to have a delicious lunch! We got the brisket, ribs, seasme slaw, mac and cheese and baked beans... YUM! Love the cross between bbq and asian! We look forward to being back.

If anyone asks you to go to Sweet Auburn you need to respond with 'Shut up, I'm driving!' Get the wings to start. Doesn't matter what kind, just trust me and get them. Right amount of smoke and rolled in some great flavors. Get the pork and cheese grits bowl and the taco trio, you will thank me. Unique and awesome. Brisket was done just right and sides of Mac n cheese and okra were great as well. Can't wait to get back, race you there!

8 of went here for dinner and ordered a variety of menu items and cocktails. One of the big hit entrees was unlimited chicken wings. I had a pork BBQ plate which was quite tasty. Drinks included $3 PBRs up to vodka martinis. They also had drink specials. Servers were prompt & fun too which always helps.

Picked this place at random, an hour after arriving in town and we were NOT disappointed!! The brisket fell apart and melted in your mouth.. no sauce required! The green beans were seasoned perfectly and the best I've ever had! And the fries were crispy, generously seasoned and soooo good! I would absolutely recommend visiting Sweet Auburn's when you're in town!!

The food here was delicious! They have great vegetarian options. Try the banh mi sandwich with tofu instead of pork. So yummy!

This was our first time ordering barbecue here and well, it was amazing. The pork BBQ was outstanding. The chicken BBQ was very good but we tend to like the white meat better and this was mixed. Five gold stars to the banana pudding Yum yum yum!! Super service and very easy to order for delivery. Nice change from Fox Bro!! We've found our new favorite BBQ!!

I had heard good things about this place and finally was able to try it with two friends on a Sunday evening. Parking is a bit challenging in the neighborhood, so please be prepared to park on a side street and walk a bit to the restaurant. We walked in and were seated, immediately. It has a very hipster vibe about it, but there were people of all ages and backgrounds in the place. I started with the Restoration Beer and then we had the pimento cheese wontons as an appetizer, which were so good. For dinner, I had the Sweet Auburn Barbeque Plate with 2 sides. For the meat, I had the pork (amazing) along with macaroni and cheese and fries. One of my friends had the brisket, which was good. The service was spot on and the prices are reasonable. This is a good place you can take anyone for a casual and good dinner.

We were in Atlanta to celebrate our daughter-in-law's graduation and Mother's Day. Her Boston family was in town, so we wanted to have BBQ because you can't get good BBQ north of the Mason-Dixon line. Fox Bros. was supposed to be really good. I cannot even tell you what an ordeal that was. They would not let us order any earlier than 30 minutes before we wanted it, although I expressed concern that we needed it for 10 people. When I called, the line was busy, I kept redialing and finally got put on hold for 15 minutes. Finally, when I gave them the order, they said they could fill the order, except I could only have 1/2 lb of pulled pork rather than the 2 lbs I wanted as they ran out of it. Seriously, what BBQ place runs out of pulled pork? That's like MacDonalds running out of hamburgers. Plus, the 20 minute time for them to get the order ready somehow turned into 45 minutes. Our other son called Sweet Auburn BBQ and told them we had a BBQ emergency. They immediately asked what they could do to help. I told them our order, and they said no problem, they would have it ready in 20 minutes. My husband and I left to get it. When I walked in, they had the order ready and even pulled everything out of the bag to make sure I had what I had ordered. I told them I had been in a panic and they saved the day. They insisted on helping me out with it and even offered to buy me a drink! I was pretty frazzled, but I politely turned them down. Not only that, the BBQ was some of the best we've ever had, Everything was perfectly cooked-the chicken was moist, the ribs were so flavorful-the perfect smokiness, the pulled pork of which there was 2 lbs, had just the right amount of fat to be flavorful. The brisket. Can we have a moment of silence for that? Our resident brisket maker who is very picky loved it and said it rivaled her own. All in all, they turned a potential disaster into a triumph, Customer service is often lacking, but not here, They are every bit as sweet as their BBQ.

Traveled to Atlanta for a race and a friend took me to this spot for dinner. Small quaint and friendly atmosphere. The food was oh so good. I had the bbq ribs with sweet potato fries and skewer of vegetables. It was enough for me to have leftovers for lunch next day and tasted just as good the day after. If in ATL, I recommend.

The bowl with BBQ in it and grits is amazing. As was the slaw. And brisket was average. All in all good good. But forget parking. Attended the atl film festival at plaza. Parked there for event then walked. But otherwise parking around there is zero and meters used on street. Now service: not great. After got waters and one beer, it was literally 20 minutes before she returned to get our order. They were busy but that's no excuse. I ordered a Margarita, the house vodka recommended by server- it never showed up. Watched as she delivered several bar drinks to other tables. Our food came and about half way thru, we told her to cancel drink. We watched as she walked away, and never told bar anything, of course due to fact she never turned it in to get made. Not good. It's good food but due to lack of parking and service, we won't be back. there's plenty of other options in Atlanta.

I've been here a few times. Their small dishes and tacos have all been tasty and something you can't find everywhere else. But if you are looking for real BBQ, I'd recommend going somewhere else. I know that's what I will do. I've read good things about the pimento wontons, and all of them were accurate. Those crispy critters are fantastic. The wings.. boom! Delicious. The cocktails were good too. So why wouldn't I go back? Because a feature dish did not meet expectations. The brisket was so fatty it was like eating a spoonful of butter. Most BBQ places I have been, boil those down and serve it in the brunswick stew. Or ask if you want a more fatty cut.

I only tried two things -- a side dish of collards (yum) and the Pimento Cheese Won Tons which were OMG GOOD!! My friend had already hit the hay after a long day so I walked to Sweet Auburn on my own and sat at the bar. Friendly, lively staff, good wine selection, a little people watching... felt very comfortable by myself. Where else can you find Pimento Cheese Won Tons with a side of collards? A true delight for a born Southerner. Certainly recommend!

Stopped in during lunch hours during ATL Burger Week. Tried their offering, which is on menu, the Wagyu Brisket Burger. I had high expectations for this burger, and it left me a bit disappointed. The meat itself on the burger was very tender, but the moistness didn't make the burger as a whole moist. So, I had to add BBQ sauce to an otherwise somewhat dry burger to get the moistness I was looking for. I got collard greens on the side, which were great. I also ordered the cinnamon roll bread pudding dessert to take home. The bread pudding was really good. I've been here before to have barbeque that didn't disappoint, so I'll just chalk it up to an off day in the kitchen for burgers. Parking is on the street somewhere adjacent, or in a nearby parking deck which they'll validate.

So I came in this place after a demanding day a few minutes before 10,, unaware they were closing for the night. I ordered a beer and was looking at the menu when the bartender told me I had three minutes left to order. It actually being 9:57, I would have understood if he told me the kitchen was closed, but he graciously gave me the three minute cushion. I asked what the had left and they threw me together a fantastic pork sandwich and excellent fries. Great customer service and great food.

My wife and I were in the area just for a one night getaway. Stayed next door at the Highland Inn, and as we started out for a night of bar (and pub grub) hopping, decided at the last mo it's to stop in. Only had cocktails and appetizers, but we were blown away!! Pimento cheese wontons and pork belly sliders, oh my heavens!! Definitely will make this a must stop if we're within driving distance!

We loved the diverse southern fare with an upscale twist. Quaint and eclectic decor, friendly staff, perfect!

Surprisingly great wings especially the Wu Tang Smoked wings. I've eaten here 3 times and the wings are my favorite 😃 The craft drinks are excellent and had me sitting at the car watching them being created as I received tips from the bartenders. Over all a fun place to go and have good reasonably priced good and drinks

Very good southern BBQ. I had the platter with ribs, brisket and pulled pork. The ribs were the best - really tender - A+. The Brisket was 'very good'. The pulled pork a bit dry (but I just used more of their excellent BBQ sauce!)

Usually, I can be impressed with a first visit, but many have seen where the second and subsequent visits don't match up to first. Sweet Auburn BBQ is second to none. If there were more stars, they would have it!!! With 2 visits, I can easily say this is a secret that doesn't need to be a secret. Food is above outstanding and Wait-Staff, probably the best around and way above the many at other restaurants. BBQ Brisket was tender and tasty. Cheese fries had a unique taste where I had to use my fork to fend of greedy hands. I can judge a restaurant with their version of Coleslaw and totally impressed. I tried their ribs on the second visit and better than expected. My wife is still talking about the shrimp in cheese sauce and smoked turkey. The wife asked about gluten-free items, and Wait-Staff brought a document that listed everything on the menu and gluten status. Overall impression is beyond satisfaction. Wait-Staff not only knew their menu but seemed to have tasted it all. Logan and Katie were naturals at being friendly, never had to get their attention for assistance, and made the visit all the better. Overall impression is an absolute positive. There is no doubt where many future meals will be enjoyed.

Sweet Auburn has traditional BBQ as well as BBQ "fusion". Everything is smoked out back and super fresh and flavorful. Had smoked chicken wings with Lemongrass sauce and the "taco" plate, which was 3 different smoked meats with unusual toppings in tortillas. Just incredible! Pulled smoked pork on cheddar cheese grits bowl.... Smoked brisket, avocado aioli, pear slaw.... The wait staff is very friendly, attentive and efficient.

I ate here twice during my stay and was impressed with the BBQ. I had pulled pork one night and the bbq tacos another night. The grits were great and the bartenders make some off the wall concoctions. The only room for improvement would be that the portion sizes of bbq could be a little larger, but other than that it's a great place with good food.

I was looking for some baby back ribs...and boy, did I find some! This place not only has a great ambiance in a quaint historical neighborhood, it also has food that hits the spot! The baby back ribs fell off the bone and were cooked perfectly. BBQ sauce was nice with a little bit of a tang. I only tried one side, the collard greens, and they were great! The other sides sounded great, standard bbq sides but with their own unique twist. The bar is old and has a lot of character to it, I ordered a Moscow mule and it came out in a clean simple glass. The ice cubes were all perfect little squares too, I love the small touches. The place was nice and clean and the staff was friendly. The owner, Howard, was very involved in his business- which is always a sign of a good restaurant- and ran a tight ship. I definitely recommend checking it out, it won’t disappoint! I’ll be back here!

Awesome spot, very good BBQ option for vegetarian as well, they had all the menu options clearly labeled for vegetarian or vegan, which can be hard to find at a BBQ place. Delicious!

Sweet Auburn has some neat twists on BBQ! The Asian influences are a very nice addition to Southern BBQ. They have a few different choices, like Pimento Wontons, Asian seasoned Salads and Tacos, really good. The Staff is very helpful. They really help first timers get comfortable. Inside has good bones, but parking is terrible. We recogmend figuring out parking before going.

We'd been looking for a good-quality place to have barbecue while in Atlanta and came here based on a colleague's recommendation, and we were super impressed. We shared the two-item combo plate with chicken and brisket, with mac & cheese and cheddar grits as sides, and everything was superb. The meat was so tender it melted in our mouths, and both the grits and the mac & cheese were creamy and hearty. The meat had a slightly sweet taste, but wasn't too sweet like some barbecue places make their food. We also shared the pimento cheese wontons, which were unique and really good. Our waitress was super friendly and welcoming.

I am a BBQ snob. The first time I visited Sweet Auburn ( at least 2 years ago)it was ok, but nothing that set it apart. My wife and I reluctantly went again last night. Bottom line, they hit on all cylinders. The fried green beans, corn bread and best of all brisket were all perfect. Seriously, the brisket was about as good as it gets. I will not wait 2 years to revisit.

Popped in after another bar didn't have drafty kilt on tap, well SAB did and it was great, roasted with coffee & cinnamon undertones a real winner. Try the wonton app they are great. The other patrons were friendly and I easily chatted with several. Frank the bartender was attentive and no negativity when it was time to switch to water later in the evening. Finally if you are into (or just want to try) fancy bourbon drinks go there. They keep a slab of hickory on the bar and a torch handy to smoke the insides of tumblers. It's quite a show.

This place is a gem! Great tasting for with perfect portion sizes served by friendly staff - o wait that's the owner! Yes the owner is serving and interacting with his patrons. This place is like the Cheers of BBQ joints; great atmosphere, good eats, and everyone knows your name.

So I found this place on the web for a trip out with friends we came up from Alabama to visit Atlanta because it was in between the two of us so I decided to map out a plan to have fun, shop, and eat and I ran across this place, we all met there and ordered from the menu. I was excited because of the reviews were so good but I am noticing that everyone's taste isn't the same! All the food was dry and bland, NO SEASONING at all! The half chicken was dry and crispy, the mac and cheese didn't have any flavor the bourbon baked beans were o.k but I have had better. The atmosphere was good and the waitress and greeter was great! I hope that they find a way to moisture the meat and add seasonings to the sides! No one at the table was happy with what they ordered and I felt awful about it. So don't take anyone's word on how food tastes!

We stumbled upon this place after a trip to the Carter Library. It was quite a find. The only downside is the lack of parking, as the closest public (off street) parking is a pay garage. However, it's only $2 so nothing major. The place itself is very inviting and the menu offers a little of everything from wings to barbecue to shrimp n grits. Service was very prompt and extremely friendly. We selected the smoked wings with mac n cheese and the barbecue plate. Both were outstanding. I find myself to be a bit picky when it comes to both, and we would come back here in a heartbeat. For those that are interested they also have a nice variety of brews on tap.

There are a lot of 'hole in the wall' BBQ places in ATL. This food is just as good but with a much better atmosphere. You have to get the fried wontons as an appetizer. The old fashion is the best in town (not the one on the menu - just order a regular one). I love to get a 1/4 pound of the pork with two sides (mac and cheese of course and green beans - they are great!). I didn't think I would eat the bread but it hits the spot (toasted like grilled cheese). We'd come more often if the parking situation was better - we avoid it during peak hours and come early for dinner or late lunch.

My wife and I were in town for a show and decided to give this a try. Mostly out of convenience because it was next to the hotel and we decided that this was going to be a walking weekend. We got a table right away, 6:30 on a Saturday night, and our server was very quick and attentive. Now I am from the deep South, and Barbecue is very serious business. Your taste may be different and there are many different style, but our food was really good. I got the brisket french dip, the thing that I consider is sodium, most places just kill you with salt, but this was just right. The aujus had a good taste, the bread was delicious and toasted perfectly. I got the green beans as a side. A dish that many restaurants can really screw up, or worse, served out of a can. This were cooked just right with a nice meaty smokiness. I am not a food critic and am not good at describing taste, but I noticed a lot of neighborhood people getting plates to go which means the place is pretty consistent, or they wouldn't be eating there.

Been to Sweet Auburn BBQ several times. Unless you want to add a $75 boot fee to your bill I don't recommend you go there. The manager was nonchalant since the boot fee is imposed by the neighboring Highland Inn. Clearly their business has nothing to do with it. The issue I have isn't the boot policy. It's the fact the very front right parking spot next to the building has no sign on it (and the rest of the spots do). See my pic if you don't believe me.

Made our own plate with ribs, pulled pork, pulled chicken, bourbon baked beans, greens, oriental slaw, and brisket chili. Ribs, pulled pork, beans, and chili were phenomenal. Especially pulled pork - don’t bother with sauce, this bbq stands on it own. Service was also fantastic.

Despite the departure of the signature mint tea this is still one of the best BBQ places in ATL. #bringbackthemint

Can't go wrong at Sweet Auburn BBQ! Great casual, laid back atmosphere and family friendly. Super and friendly service and best of all - sumptuous BBQ. Pulled Pork with Grits and a slab of ribs are to die for! Several choices of BBQ sauces that will satisfy anyone's taste preference. Generous portions to satisfy your hunger. Gotta try the Pimento Cheese Wontons appetizer, they are pure heaven for the taste buds. Only draw back is limited parking but well worth the hassle--trust me!

This food is fantastic! There were nine of us and we sampled almost the entire menu! We sampled the cornbread and pimento cheese wontons. The half chicken is delicious, great smoked flavor and it fell off the bone. The green beans are the way to go. The tacos were a hit with everyone, and the traditional pulled pork is always good! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some great southern barbecue!

I grew up in Alabama with excellent BBQ. I took a risk and planned a family get together here with 15 family members who also grew up in the South with fantastic BBQ. We were not disappointed! The BBQ was great, the sides were excellent, and the staff did a beyond amazing job dealing with the complications of serving a party of 15 with multiple checks and personalities.

This was a great experience! From cornbread with sorghum butter to skillet green beans! BBQ meat was tender and mouth watering delicious. Tacos were a hit!
Excellent BBQ with Vegetarian Options
Visiting Emory for first-year move-in, and found Sweet Auburn. It is rated #1 BBQ by the local paper - and the restaurant is fabulous. My husband go the brisket - which was moist and delicious. My daughter got the pulled pork, which she also enjoyed. I had BBQ tofu with green beans, which were to die for. Very informal, friendly atmosphere, nice bar (which we did not take advantage of). Excellent waiting staff with great recommendations. Very reasonable prices.
