This place is absolutely amazing! We had the pulled chicken and beef brisket. Our sides were compiled of macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, creamy garlic mashed potatoes , chili with cheddar cheese. It was the best Southern food out of the south we had ever had!

My brother took me here on my latest visit to Philadelphia. This is one of his favorite restaurants. We split a whole rack of ribs and my niece had the brisket and my sister-in-law had the half rotisserie chicken. Everything we had was wonderful. The ribs had plenty of tender meat with enough for the two of us and some ribs left over. The sauce was a bit vinegary, but well balanced with the sweetness. The brisket was super tender. For sides we had garlic mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Sweet Lucy's also has mashed sweet potatoes, grits, mac 'n cheese, collard greens and many other sides. The restaurant is informal; the kind of place that you are comfortable eating with gusto and licking the barbecue sauce off your fingers.

This place is great if you are looking for good barbecue in the city. We got the standard family meal for six people and it could have fed eight. The restaurant is nice and clean. Check this place out!

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Delaware. Would have given the place 5 stars, but the collard greens were way too salty, and I love salt, so when I say too salty, you should believe me. Everything else was spot on.

Sweet Lucy's has the best BBQ in the area! Great ribs and pulled pork. Good prices. The family pig out meals are great and we order them for pick up quite often. The Monday night buffet is great, but come hungry so you can enjoy everything!

After seeing great reviews on this place, I decided to take the 45-minute drive to check it out on a Thursday night. I got there at around 6:30pm and although the parking lot had quite a few cars in it, the restaurant itself was pretty empty. The bar was empty and there were only a table or two with people sitting. There is a take out counter as soon as you walk in. You can order take out there, or order your food there and sit and they will bring it to your table. You can also sit at the bar or the seated area and be served. I ended up ordering the sliced brisket, turkey, chili and spicy greens. (About $28) Everything was very good...but the spicy greens really stood out...like nothing I ever had before. The meal also came with cornbread, which was really good. There is a little condiment bar on the side with lots of sauces and other items including pickles, peppers, onions, pickled onions and cinnamon honey butter (for your cornbread of course). You are welcome to take whatever you like from there. I would love to return to try some other items. The space was very well-maintained and had some cool decor throughout. All staff I encountered, including and especially the bartender/server, were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Amazing food... delicious and abundant! The meat, sides, cornbread and sweet tea were so good I had to take my yummy dessert home!! Couldn’t pass up one of the desserts which looked so good, it was hard to pick just one! You can’t believe the fast service bringing your food to the table!

Enjoyed my trip to Sweet Lucy's this week. The Brisket was very good and I also enjoyed the many sides they had to offer. Most of the food I saw people have looked and smelled great. It was a nice local place to eat and had many different types of BBQ available. I had difficulty finding a place to park, and since I'm from the south I've had a lot of good BBQ in my day so that's why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. I will come back in a minute and enjoyed my trip. Very good place to eat!

Eight of us crossed the Tacony Palmyra Bridge from New Jersey last Saturday to trek to Sweet Lucy's on State Street in Philadelphia. We experienced about a 30 minute wait in line, but that's a common occurrence and well worth the wait. The food is scrumptious, and the waitstaff is so pleasant and accommodating. Once seated, we had a wonderfully delicious meal, and hearty conversation.

My wife and first went soon after they opened at 7500 State Road. We went with a college classmate who lives nearby. First meal was superb, and so were the next 100 or so. Never ever had a bad meal. And you know sometimes at a favorite restaurant things may not go as planned. This is different. Seems like every year the place grows. The line grows. Quality is always top notch. And bread pudding to drive for, like all the desserts. But hey this is BBQ, right? Name it and it is great, right down to the beans, corn bread. I cannot give a high enough recommendation.

Love this place!!!! Must haves- ribs, turkey, brisket, pork. Their corn bread is awesome. The cream spinach is my favorite side. Mash potatoes are my second favorite. I am not a fan of their baked beans because they have a strong green pepper flavor. That is the only thing I can say isn't yummy there! Everyone must stop by and try their BBQ!

If you want good bbq with a decent atmosphere (decent seating, although more outdoor seating would be preferable), you could do worse.

The food is as authentic as can be. (I actually see pecan and hickory wood piled up in the parking lot). Delicious barbecue. When you walk in you order at the register, then choose your seat and they call you. Not a long wait. Our booth was wobbly which may be the only negative. Location is on State Road near Rhawn. Very industrial. Not a lot of foot traffic. Plenty of parking. All told, a good experience. It's all about the food.

Went here because a local car salesman said it was a great place. The food was average and not worth going back. I bought a giant drink but only wanted a small portion so I asked for a small cup. When one of the servers spotted me using the small cup she advised me it was for water and indirectly accused me of taking a free drink. I had already spent 29 dollars on a sub par lunch...I feel her motavation was more then just the drink since my wife is of a different race then me and the server....Stupid people like that server can ruin a business.

It was a real disappointment tonight. We were meeting a friend halfway for dinner. We got to the front of the line after a considerable wait (which isn't a problem, we were catching up), just to be told by the order staffer that there would be a two hour wait for ribs. That was disappointing, after all, it is a ribs joint. When we ordered pull-pork sandwiches, we were informed that it would be without the roll because they ran out. Oh well. It's not the kinda place where you can change your mind easily and go elsewhere. It wouldn't had been so bad if the order-person had any customer service skills...when I said "Really? 2 hours?" she just looked at me like I was crazy for asking such a question. She couldn't be bothered....and so I won't next time. We were looking forward to it....oh, well. Really? 2 hours?

Friends introduced me to this joint. We had brisket, pulled pork, ribs, (of course sauce), and several sides. Nothing was bad and all was tasty. Combination of NC and Kansas style? Seems to have both styles. Next time, I would order brisket over ribs just because I thought it was better.

Four of us went to Sweet Lucy's Smokehouse in Philadelphia today. When you enter, you place your order at the cashier. Then they give you a receipt you find a table, and then they call your name. There is no waitress service per se. Tables are adequate and seating is adequate also. I had the ribs which were excellent, the brisket which was good, and the pulled pork which was good. The macaroni and cheese side was very good. The baked beans were excellent and I enjoyed them very much. The corn bread was very good, and the coleslaw was good. For fun, I ordered their homemade carrot cake. It is covered in a little bit too much icing, but the cream cheese icing is very nice, and the carrot cake was very good. Overall a very good dining experience and very good food. Recommended. Lots of parking also.

My sister saw this place on a Food Network show, and knowing we were headed to Philly told us about it. So glad she did! My husband had the Philly pulled pork with sharp provolone and collard greens - as good as DeNics! I had the pulled chicken sandwich and slathered it with the big pot of barbeque sauce by the fixin's bar. Great! A standout was the side of chili. Next time I'll definitely get a full order to bring home. They had homemade winter sangria at the bar. Wish I had seen that before I ordered a soda. My husband had a beer, very reasonably priced selections. Try to print out directions, because if you're coming out of Center City, the tall buildings will mess with your GPS and you'll be going around in circles.

I have eaten here a few times and until yesterday it had been a long time. The food is still great, nothing fancy mind you but certainly delicious. You order off of a black board at one one window and wal ken steps and pick it up at another window, serve yourself drinks and the tables have rolls of paper towels on them. The restaurant is located in an old warehouse. This time I had the bbq brisket, corn bread to die for, mac and cheese and cole slaw-all were scrumptious. Not the best place to take a first date if you are trying to impress them but you sure will enjoy the food. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I finally tried this place with a take out order... 1/2 rack - perfection! I hate rib places that serve mushy ribs. I like to pick it up and sink my teeth in and enjoy. This had the right amount of sauce. Pulled pork - this was just ok collard greens - this just the way i like it...slight hint of spice and smokiness...al dente mac n cheese - also done perfectly...not mushy and super cheesy with some toasty parts garlic mash - this was just ok...i like lumpy mash...this seemed too thin for my taste and could not taste garlic at all...maybe a bad batch?? potato salad - good stuff...can't really mess up potato salad My only disappointment: I forgot cornbread! Well done Sweet Lucy well done!

Sweet Lucy's is a nice little BBQ restaurant set in an old converted factory building on State Road. When you enter you see menu which is posted on the wall, then walk up to the cashier, place your order and pay for it. You are given a number which you take to whatever table you can find open. We went on a Saturday night and while the restaurant was busy there were enough open tables to satisfy all who arrived. They do have a small bar there where you can order bottled beer, wine or mixed drinks & take them to your table. Our wait for our meals was not long, maybe 10 minutes or so and the food was brought out to us. We all ended up ordering the pulled pork platter, $12.99, which came with your choice of 3 sides and either a roll or cornbread. The food is served in a Styrofoam container, handy of you don't finish everything. Perhaps tacky for most restaurants but this is a BBQ place where it's not out if place with the decor. The BBQ was good, not exactly the Eastern NC BBQ I'm accustomed to but while it was covered in sauce it was not swimming in it. The collards were spicy, but not so much that they burned your throat, the mashed sweet potatoes good as was the mac & cheese. Portion sizes were adequate for older folks like us but may be a bit on the small size for big appetites. It was somewhat noisy though, I was able to speak with my companion across the table and next to me but had a difficult time conversing with the person diagonally across the table. The food is authentic, fresh & tasty served in a atmosphere that brings you to a country hoedown-like setting, fitting for the smokehouse food.

Really good brisket and the sides were all awesome! I tried the brussel sprouts and bacon. Very good. I had enough left over to take some home. Everything was served quick and the servers were really friendly. Also tried dessert which were good but seemed to be burned when heated up. I wanted whipped cream which came in a little container, even though I told the cashier I was eating there. For some reason they containerize everything which creates a lot of garbage waste.

Me and my friend went here to eat and it was good food. The portions are big and the meat was tasty and tender. I had brisket and the pulled BBQ chicken along with the baked beans, coleslaw, and a tomato and cucumber salad. They also had some really good brewed sweet tea. I have to admit though it was a bit pricey and just for me and my friend I paid 40 dollars with the drinks included. Definitely will go back.

Went with my girlfriend, my best friend and his girlfriend for all you can eat BBQ night. Was very shocked at how well they smoked all of their meats. The Mac and Cheese is to die for! I wish we could order it by the truck load. Have also ordered take at before and had the same great quality.

Sweet Lucy's is a great find. We looked for it after Zagat sent me an email with the best ribs in cities in USA. Best in Philly was Sweet Lucy's Smokehouse....never heard of it. We decided to find it. What a find! Located in a factory building on State Road. Food is delicious. Ribs are great as is cornbread, baked beans, sweet potatoes, collard greens, mac and cheese. I'm sure the many other sides are also delicious. In addition to ribs, they have pulled pork, chicken, turkey, keilbasi and brisket. Booths and tables with a roll of paper towels. Fun down home atmosphere. They keep the place very clean and the help are extremely friendly, competent and helpful.

Food was great. Bbq excellent . Loved their mashed sweetpotatoes. Place is small not many tables. Staff helpful and pleasant. Would recommend the resturant.

Came with friends from the area and was pleasantly suprised. Food was well prepared and good portions for the price. There's a good mix of seating and since you pre-order at counter, they bring it to you and will bus the table. Drinks are self-serve with nice variety. So of you like Barbeque and in the area I'd highly recommend!!

My associate and I was recommended this restaurant as a very good barbeque restaurant. Monday's are exceptional as they cook everything on the menu and put it out on the buffet. There was ribs (St. Louis and baby back), pork, chicken, brisket barbeque. Smoked whole salmon and wings plus all the accoutrements anyone could ask for in salads and sides. Then a long list of homemade desserts. Very enjoyable meal. Most definitely will return. The workers were all exceptionally nice and eager to help.

Easiy the best BBQ in Philly. The mac and cheese is awesome. The salmon platter on Fridays is amazing. It's always perfectly done. Sweet tea is incredible.

Visited Sweet Lucy's and had a delicious meal. I ordered sliced chicken breast platter which came three sides (spicy collards, Mac and cheese and spicy corn on the cob) accompanied by corn bread. My husband had sliced brisket, spicy collards, garlic mashed potatoes, rice and beans and corn bread. Their corn bread is to die for, so of course we ordered extra to take home . We both had iced tea. There is a whole board of meals and sides. They also offer a couple of different desserts. Ample food at a reasonable price. Dinner for two with all of the above for $39.00 and leftovers for two more meals.

We were in center city for a college interview and our daughter was craving BBQ ribs. I googled best ribs in Philly and Sweet Lucy's was one of the places that came up. We got back on I95 and drove 3 miles north of the city for our lunch today and enjoyed a nice lunch. Sweet Lucy's is an order at the counter restaurant with no wait staff. The pulled pork was great and the ribs were great but some of the sides were not so great. The mac and cheese was delicious! I like sweet baked beans but Sweet Lucy's baked beans taste more like chili (but they did have a huge chunk of pulled pork in them). The coleslaw was also not sweet like I like it but good. The creamy cheesy Spinach was watery today and not good. The red potato salad was good. The spicy collard greens were good. The cornbread was yummy. They have a huge beer and wine selection but we enjoyed their fresh iced tea and pepsi products.Nice atmosphere...lots of tables and booths for seating.Would have liked to try the blueberry peach crisp for dessert but I was too full.

I have not been to Sweet Lucy's in a while but so glad I stoped in for lunch. The food is excellent and the baked beans are to die for. The really expanded the place and now have a Small bar. The service was excellent too. Highly recommend.

We stopped on our way to the Phillies game and was happy we did! As usual, the pulled pork was excellent. I also had the ribs which fell off the bone. The homemade hot sauce had nice heat and flavor. The mac n cheese is a wise choice for a side.

This is one of the greatest BBQ places ever! Every order fresh, robust and delicious. Collard greens off the charts, all sides great with BBQ. Right up there with Kentucky! Servers great! Ya gotta go!

My wife and I went to see the Harlem Globetrotters earlier in the day and capped it off with dinner. It's situated in an industrial area but looks are deceiving. The parking lot was full for a reason. If you're looking for Southern BBQ and your favorite fixings, this is the spot. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Whether you eat or take out, the order comes in to-go boxes. Don't let that deter you...the food is finger licking good! We're coming back for another date night...

I tried a bunch of different things...the one thing that really stood out was the smoked wings....a different approach then just frying. They were worth another trip.

tried sweet lucy's last night for the first time. it was very good, whole rack of ribs with sauce (you can add as much sauce as you want from the crockpot of sauce up front), greens, slaw and mashed also good. Cornbread very good. This is currently a byob. Cute atmosphere. Not too busy when we arrived around 5:45 so got a table quickly (no waitress service, which is ok) you order at the counter & take food to your table. Will definitely be back & bring friends!

Very good BBQ in an old warehouse in NE Philly. Something for everyone's taste. Sandwiches, platters, family specials. Go for the buffet on Monday nights. It features their entire menu for 21.95 All you can eat!! Smokey meats and very good sides. Full bar with drink and food specials for happy hour.

I went to sweet Lucy's for the first time yesterday with some co-workers. All I can say is WOW! I've eaten at BBQ places down south that were apparently a must go to. I can tell you, Sweet Lucy's blows these places out of the water. I had the beef sandwich which was so flavorful and tasted amazing. I tried some pulled pork as well. The pulled pork was flavored perfectly and the side dishes were delicious. I passed by this place so many times without trying it. I'm so glad I did. I will be going back to Sweet Lucy's in the immediate future. I forgot to mention, the atmosphere in this place is perfect and they have a cool little bar.

Ribs and brisket AWESOME. Mashed potaters delicious and baked macaroni topped off the amazing meal wasnt expensive for all i got

It's a little out of the way for us, coming from center city, but it's a nice change from the handful of other BBQ spots in Philly. Food is good, service is goos, and prices are reasonable.

Spicy collard greens were awesome! I had the Philly pork sandwich with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Great food and great atmosphere! Would definitely go back and have a beer with my pork sandwich!

I've been to Sweet Lucy's a few times and thought it was time to offer a few thoughts. The brisket sandwich is very good. The rotisserie chicken is good - including the white meat. White meat is usually dry and I try to avoid it, but this was moist. The cole slaw and mashed sweet potatoes were good, not great - the sweets were a little runny - and the portions were skimpy. Cornbread is a standard with barbecue, but this was more like corn cake, and if they're not going to try harder, they shouldn't bother. The soda machine put out totally flat soda and, when brought to the attention of restaurant staff, no one offered to fix it or refund the money paid for sodas. The ribs were very tasty, but I just don't understand why places insist on serving baby backs, or just back backs, instead of spare ribs (St. Louis). When you serve baby backs instead, you're telling your customers you prefer to sell them skimpier, less-meaty, less-tasty food. Sweet Lucy's is very good, but it could be better.

Idk about the one reviewer saying the food is dried out?!?! I've been coming to Sweet Lucy's over 5years now and think the BBQ is Pretty Damn Good consistently! I also drive out of my way to get it! Once I felt the collard greens could have been cooked more but that was the worst I could really say ever and maybe they shouldn't use styrofoam. The BBQ is way better than the overpriced Rib Rack, Fette Sau or Percy's. And Now you can buy a Beer or mixed Drinks when you eat in! It's not fancy nor trendy hip but the BBQ Chicken, Smoked Salmon and Ribs are Awesome!!! It's Zagat rated for a reason!

Great happy hour specials. Delicious bbq. Will definitely eat here again. Try the Dirty 🍌 Banana. 1/2 price during happy hour

We were famished after a day at the Sesame Place, so we drove to this wonderful place. It's a restaurant but bot a usual one. You order the food, find a place to seat and then wait till they call you by name and with container full of food you seat down and begin the trip.... The ribs are wonderful- very well seasoned, soft but not mushy.... You can see that they know their job.... The side dishes are nice especially the collard. The atmosphere is very joyful, everyone is eating using their hands.... It's a pity that it's sooooooo far away from where we're living....

The food and service here are awesome. Everything is made to order, always hot and well cooked. Taste like mom's cooking. Whenever I am in the area I stop to at Sweet Lucy's. The cornbread is great!

Just came back and needed to write a review. Three of us dined for the first time tonight and I have no idea why I hadn't gotten here sooner. Between the three of us we tried the brisket, sausage, chicken and ribs. ALL were wonderful. For our sides, we had greens, Brussels, mac & cheese, chili and cole slaw. Frankly all were extremely good. And leaving the best for last, they had the best, most moist and sweet cornbread I have ever eaten. It is not fancy and is in on an industrial road.....but who cares......the food is so good. If you crave BBQ, you will not be disappointed.

Just happened to stubble upon this joint on a my to an insect museum with my children . What a pleasant surprise! Wasn’t sure we could get a seat at first because there was a small crowd st the entrance, but much of the service is take out . We decided to eat in and enjoy the setting . Located on a busy city industrial roadway parking is tricky but it’s worth the risk . The ribs are the best and the sides were delicious . There’s a small bar that serves bottled beers and mixed drinks. I’ll be returning for sure!

We drove from Jersey to try it although my hubby is very picky. He loves it. We went back again the next day. We took it home instead of eating in and enjoyed it very much. Will definitely return but based off the reviews we know not to go too late as I can see them running out of stuff.

Premium quality meats and sides, and great, friendly service. Went there with my son. I got a pulled pork sandwich with two sides, and he got a pulled brisket platter with three sides. Everything was great. Long line when we got there, but it moved fast. Sides weren't just throw-ins - they were all great quality, and substantial portions. We will definitely go back.

We are regulars here because of the excellent food, convenience to I-95 and because it seems the people here really appreciate your visit. You can't find better BBQ in the Philadelphia area. I can personally recommend the brisket, the chicken, the pulled pork and especially the smoked kielbasa. The kielbasa was sold out on my latest visit, which was later on a recent Saturday night and they apparently had a busy day. The prices are VERY reasonable and the portions very large. Figure on having the leftovers for lunch the next day if you get 2 meats on your platter. The side dishes are also very good and there is a wide selection. The decor is cool, a redone industrial shop of some kind with nice country touches. Plenty of seating and some is around cleaning tables, which was appreciated by our group of 7. You place your order at one window and the serving window calls you up to get the food. Very short wait. The food is served in stryofoam clamshells, which is in keeping with the picnic atmosphere. Fun time here for everyone. My family highly recommends this place, I think you will enjoy the food and the restaurant very much. Nobody in the philly area compares, in my humble opinion.

On the positive side, a good amount of meat in a sandwich plus two sides is a great deal for $13. I forgot to order my pork sandwich without sauce. The results was that I could not fully evaluate the meat, due to the smathering of sauce. But, still it was good. Baked beans a tad dry, but the meat chunks were nice addition. Bread pudding even drier than the beans. Have to go with an average rating, though the value is there.

I became familiar with this restaurant years ago. The food is incredible. The ribs, sides are all great. I only wish the owner would expand and open another location outside the city.

We love great Bar-B-Q and Sweet Lucy's is really the area's best of the best. I always order the two meat choice (half a chicken & tender ribs) while my husband goes for the half rack of ribs. We've never received a disappointing meal here & even the side dishes are delectable. The old factory building located on State Road makes its discovery easier by the addition of a huge "B-B-Q" neon sign on its north side. Bring your appetite because the eats are plentiful here.

Really good Bar-B-Q places are tough to find in the Bucks County area - so when we're in the mood for tender & falling-off-the-bones pork ribs, we head to Sweet Lucy's Smokehouse in Philly for some of the area's best. Arriving before the rush hour, there was no line & just a brief wait for our orders to be delivered tableside. I ordered the Chicken & Ribs plate which came with three side dishes (Mac & Cheese, Creamed Spinach & Brussels Sprouts w/ Bacon) & included a large square of Corn Bread. I loved every bite & had lots of chicken to take home to enjoy another day. My husband chose a half-rack of ribs also served w/ three sides (Mac & Cheese, Cucumber & Tomato Salad & Coleslaw). He cleaned his plate. Sweet Lucy's offers a very casual atmosphere, now complete with a full-service bar. There's a fixin's station where you get your Bar-B-Q sauces, hot peppers, pickles & the like. Don't worry about messy fingers & hands at meal's end - each table comes equipped with a large roll of paper towels.

Great BBQ and sides, and now including bar service. Brisket is my favorite, but pulled pork, chicken and ribs are all very good. Service is quick, order at counter and they bring it to your table.

I stopped in to grab lunch. I was met with a smile as the young lady took my order. Lunch was a bit more then McDonald's, but well worth it. I found a table, went for my selfserve drink and when I turned around my food was delivered to the table. Served hot, fresh and complete with a tootsie roll. I love good bbq, this place gets 2 thumbs up.

Visited this place today 4/25/2017. I've heard great things about this place but to be honest I will not be coming back. We ordered a water for my wife and they gave her a clear cup. I went to the bar to get some drinks and she went to fill up the clear cup. Her not being from the USA filled it up with some soda. She did not know this was for just water and some rude lady with a red bandana started to yell at us from the kitchen. I apologized and said she didn't know better. The lady start to talk to us like little kids and stated yes she did. She continued to cause a scene so I threw the darn cup in the trash. After that the food came out, I was not too impressed by the quality and the serving size for the price. We had the brisket platter by the way. We will not be coming back.

I've driven by this place constantly over the last four years; I have meant to stop previously, but never seemed to get around to it. Finally stopped in today and was happily rewarded. I did the pulled BBQ pork on a round roll, with the macaroni and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes for sides. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Even imbibed on a quick beer, which is new to this place in the last year or so (the bar).

The bbq ribs are delicious! The meat just falls right off the bone. Tender and flavorful. The collard greens is a MUST-HAVE!

Family gathering in a private room, with food galore! The brisket was Smokey, tender and moist. The pulled pork was delicious. The mac and cheese was oozing with cheese and the cornbread was perfect! Can't wait to go back!

This is the best, most relaxed, fun barbecue restaurant. Their smoked chicken is awesome. Since I'm single, most often I just take out a whole smoked chicken with sides, but they have a great room for you to eat there. Also many choices and sides. They also have an "all u can eat buffet" , not sure when, think Monday nights, but call to be sure. Very easy to get to, on State rd,between Cottman & Rhawn, closer to cottman. Parking lot also, free. Great for kids & families. My niece used them to cater a party, said it was awesome & very reasonable. Go there, you'll love it.

Always packed with locals who can;t help buzzing about the place even waiting in line. Best ribs, chicken, pulled pork, everything. Ridiculous list of sides you can't limit to two. Not much of a dining area to look at, but lots of happy customers. And the prices are extremely reasonable for the portions. And now they have a liquor license so you can get beer. Nothing makes your family happier than walking in with a big bag from Sweet Lucy's!

I ate there about 10 years ago and couldn't remember if I liked it or not. So I tried it again last week. Everything was very good. I tried the pulled chicken sandwich, mac n cheese and Cole slaw. I wanted to try the potato salad but it was out of season. If you are in the area this place is worth giving a try.

I went at lunch time (so it was more than a little busy) to get food for dinner at work (late shift). I got 2 brisket plattersand 1 chicken and couldn't be happier. Their side dishes are all to die for. I could have ordered just the sides and be in heaven, but lets not forget they have bbq. the brisket was off the hook and the chicken was just as good. I wasn't going to get the chicken since it seems that's always what I eat. I am so glad I got it (I also shared it) everyone behind the counter was so friendly. I think if they were nasty I would still go back because the food is really good for this area.

We got a bit load of take out and it was all great! Ribs, brisket (amazing), chicken and great sides! Just do it!

If you are looking for great BBQ in Philly, you need to try this place. This is a no frills restaurant, but the food is outstanding. No table service, no fancy silverware (unless you consider plastic fancy), but some of the best BBQ I have ever had. I had a 3 meat sampler. (Baby back ribs, brisket, and their world famous pulled BBQ chicken. I also had Mac & Cheese, coke slaw, cream spinach, and corn bread. Way too much food for one, but I gave it a try. No, I could not finish, but I did eat all the meat. I loved it all, but my favorite was the BBQ chicken. I highly recommend the chicken. Best pulled BBQ chicken I have ever had.

I have not been back to Sweet Lucy for more than a year. Last time I thought the meat was over done, dry and without sauce tasteless. Hoping I was wrong my wife and I tried it again. That was a mistake. As before Ribs were dry, burnt, and had little taste. Pulled pork was okay but for the sauce which I did not care for; Unfortunately three sauce is the only kind available unlike most Bbq places. I also felt the mac & Cheese was to heavy, and sweet Potatoes did not have that fresh potatoe taste.

I had a Super Combo Platter called "Double the Fun". It came with ribs, pulled pork & cornbread. The sides are extra. Likewise, the soft drinks are, as well. They have the coolest digital self-serve dispenser & refills are free. We placed our order, received a number, seated ourselves & waited for our orders to be served to us. There's a BIG roll of paper towels on each table. (But, what's missing are bottles of sauces.) Our food came in styrofoam containers making it handy to take home left-overs. The ribs are meaty & everything was very good.

Stopped in with a friend for lunch. I had wanted to try it out for some time. We had the platters where you can choose one or several meats and sides. We had the pulled pork and Texas brisket. Both very good. Sides were baked beans, green beans, creamed spinach (all very good), and Mac & cheese (OK). Reasonably priced (~$15 each). There is a small bar with excellent bottled beer selections (no beer on tap). Ample seating and a back room for larger groups is available. Catering services offered. All in all very good. Will definitely return.

Great location Great looking restaurant Great prices Order: beef brisket, bbq chicken, spicy collard greens, cornbread, creamy cheese spinach I didn’t like any of the food. Nothing fabulous about it. The serving sizes are small also.

Friends of mine have been raving about Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse for quite a while. Who would have thought real country BBQ in the city. They have a full menu plus a buffet on Monday, starting at 5:00 and on site parking. I can’t wait to go back.

My husband recently visited Sweet Lucy's for dinner before a show. The food is delicious and the service is fast. The location, right off of 95 is perfect to get off and on the road.

No pretense, nothing fancy, just really good barbecue and reasonable prices. Smoky brisket with a mild sauce was tasty and tender. Wife had pulled pork with a side of mac and cheese. They have many choices of southern style sides and meats. Yummy all around.

We had their famous BBQ buffet last night. You would expect to eat pretty good for $21.95 per person. Instead you are pointed to the makeshift buffet table, that looks like a backyard set up, with cheap foam plates and plastic uetensils. The food was bad! Dried out ribs, rancid chicken, nasty coleslaw and dessert consisted of a bucket of icecream on a table. I will never go back to say the least!!!

The food was delicious and the portions were a great size! I had the pulled pork and wings and the wings were so big I wound up taken them home! For sides the mac was nice and creamy and the mashed sweet potatoes were perfect! Didn't care too much for the collards but everything else was phenomenal! Service was great as well! When I come back to Philly I will definitely stop here again!

Finally went to Sweet Lucy's after years of reading rave reviews. As a serious backyard BBQer for over a decade, I have pretty high standards. The food here is good, and in fact, VERY good. Sides were delicious, cornbread was fresh and cake-like. Service was friendly, and efficient. There is a wide selection of items and combos, and in general, and the prices are very reasonable. But I came here for 'cue, and that is primarily where my rating comes from. I had both the brisket and pulled pork as a combo. Both were tender, moist, and lightly smoked. The quality of the meat was fine. My issue was really one of presentation. In most Cue places I have visited across the country, brisket is served sliced (and often "chopped" is an option.) Pulled pork (which I normally only order in the Carolinas) is served with sauces (and a topping of cole slaw) optional. Traditionally (depending on Carolina geography) sauces can be based on Vinegar and spice, sometimes with a little ketchup added, sometime mustard based... you get the picture. Lucy's serves brisket and pulled pork chopped and pulled respectively, with a sweet ketchup-based (Kansas City Style) sauce already on top. Inasmuch as this is PROBABLY what most Philadelphians (raised on KC Masterpiece or Sweet Baby Ray's) expect, I suspect this approach satisfies 90% of customers. If you are not picky about your 'cue (meaning you it it A LOT, and at different venues) you will be most happy with what comes out of your Styrofoam container. If you ARE picky about your 'cue, you would notice immediately, that once covered in KC style sauce, it is almost impossible to distinguish between chopped brisket and pulled pork. In all fairness, I never ASKED if I could have had my brisket sliced, or served "dry" - sauce on the side. I guess I COULD have ordered cole slaw as one of my sides and topped the pulled pork with it... Maybe I'll go back and try that. I really hate to ding the place, because they serve up good food at reasonable prices. But in the end, when I can have a comparable 'Cue experience (with a lot more flexibility at a chain like Famous Dave's) I see a mom-and-pop place lose its edge (and I really root for these kinds of places.)

I have been grilling, barbecuing and smoking fish, pork and beef all of my adult life. I'm a purist. I use hardwood charcoal and wood. No briquettes or sawdust pucks for my family and friends. But, as you all know, smoking meat takes time, lots of time, and patience. When I'm home in Philadelphia with a hankering for good barbecue, Sweet Lucy's is the only joint in town. Their brisket is succulent and tender without the artificial taste of liquid smoke. The meats are laid down at a low enough temperature for the right amount of time that the meat is truly smoked, not steamed. The same goes for their chicken and pork. Jim and Brooke developed a recipe for successful barbecue over 15 years ago and have stuck with it. The proof to their success is the current expansion of their facility. For take-out or dining-in Sweet Lucy's is the only place for barbecue, and great sides, in The Delaware Valley, except for my backyard.

Have been here or gotten take-away several times. I've had BBQ all over the south and this is as good as most I've had: the pork, brisket, and chicken are all superb. The side dishes are excellent, especially the mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans. The cornbread is tasty as well. I work close-by and we often get take-away for a special staff lunch as a reward for hard-work. You cannot go wrong here if you appreciate good BBQ.

If you like barbecue or ribs, then Sweet Lucy's is terrific. On Monday's, there's an all-you-can-eat buffet, and most of their favorites are there. The ribs - standard and Asian - were some of the best I've had... no fat to be found -- all meat. Sides like sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, greens and even grits are there. The cornbread - when it comes out warm - is decadent! And for dessert - the warm chocolate chip bourbon bread pudding with creamy vanilla ice cream you scoop yourself -- well, I left smiling WIDE. The only thing... you eat off paper plates and plastic utensils. But the grub is good.

I ordered online for a 5: 15 PM pick-up. I know it was Mother's Day so expected a small wait. I got there at 5:05 and found a parking space a few minutes later' It isn't the biggest parking lot and it was crowded. Texted my name and number. 25 minutes it was acknowledged. 45 minutes later I finally got my food - a full HOUR after the time I ordered it to be ready. The only thing I can say is the ribs were very good for the most part. One was completely burnt and inedible out of the 3 I had. The brisket was not sliced but burnt ends and very dry and again several were burnt and brick hard. The vegetables we ordered were good so that was a plus. I doubt I will ever go back again.

We usually have to travel to Virgil's in New York city to get good BBQ. My son recommended Sweet Lucy's and since he was paying we agreed. I will return, probably more times than I should. This is the best BBQ in the area. Do not go expecting white linen table cloths. It is bare bones in a Styrofoam container. I had the ribs and brisket combo meal. 2 meats and three sides for $14.95 cannot be beat. I understand from the rest of my party that the pulled pork rivals my own, and I make a good pulled pork.

Brisket was excellent and really tender. Kielbasa was pretty good, not fatty. Pulled pork was tough and chewy. The salmon po' boy is not fried and is simply salmon, lettuce, tomato and pickles on a roll. I was not blown away. The sides are decent... cheesy grits were fantastic, beans, sweet potato and corn bread were very good. Cole slaw was just ok. We would probably not rush back here.

We stopped on the way home from the shore. We got the last parking spot. Place way jammed. We ordered our food for take out. After forty five minutes our order was ready. Everyone was so nice, calm and said food was worth the wait. Ribs, brisket, collards, sweet mashed, baked beans, creamed spinach and corn bread. I would of have waited longer. Food was delicious. Brook and family, I finally made it there. Your old neighbor's Sam and Max from Selmer Road

This place is seriously the best! Hands down! The line was LONG out the door however it went quick! The ribs were falling off the bone and mac and cheese along with garlic mashed potatoes! Yummmmm!!! Cornbread was so good that we had to get seconds! It was a rustic look inside but we loved it!!! Cannot wait to return

We had dinner last night with friends at Sweet Lucy's. We were not disappointed. My husband and I eat there frequently and have never had a bad meal. Last night we had chicken, ribs, pulled pork, Mac and cheese, creamed spinach, baked beans and cucumber salad, all of it good! This is a great local restaurant with a casual atmosphere. If you are in the mood for great barbecue, be sure to visit Sweet Lucy's.

Visited Sweet Lucy's over the weekend with my wife and children. It's been a few years and I was pleased to see that they have expanded the seating area. Ordering was easy enough and the girl at the register was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the brisket platter, which came with a very nice portion of meat, along with 3 sides AND a piece of cornbread. All around, service was very good and the quality of the food was terrific - we didn't even eat dinner that night.

We passed this is on the way to a friends... On the way home we decided to stop. We order three different items, pulled pork sandwich, Philly beef brisket and grilled salmon. We had 6 different sides included. We shared it all to taste test the foods... And it was all great! Generous portions... Reasonable prices and really exceptional drink menu.

We saw it on food network and went for my husband with our son and friends. We had the double the fun with Brisket and chicken. The sides of chili and grits were delicious. I would highly recommend to all.

Wow what a surprise. I have been in Virginia for the past three years and I have so missed true BBQ. Even though this place is four hours away from me, this is the ideal place to go! First thing you will notice upon walking in is the wide selection of meat and sides. Great choices. I had the brisket, spicy collards and baked beans, the best! Once you have placed your order you can sit in the waiting area or grab a table. My meal was ready in under 10 minutes and it was busy. Now the decor was very cute and tasteful; however, other than fine dining spots this was truly the most clean restaurant I have ever ate in. From the floors, to the tables and most of all the decor. I've never seen such clean decor. Keep up the good job and thanks for the lingering smell of BBQ smoke on the way home.

BEST MAC AND CHEESE EVER ribs chicken and briskey is good as all get out and falls easily off the bone. Rest 9f the sides also fantastic. Will eat here again. Did not need to eat dessert as the cornbread was that yummy. Besides too full. Cannot wait to come back.

My boyfriend and I had heard raving reviews about Sweet Lucy’s, and we both love BBQ, so we gave this place a shot. We ordered the double meats (sliced brisket, pulled pork, kielbasa, pulled chicken) with two sides each (mac and cheese, mashed sweet potatoes, collard greens, bacon Brussels sprouts) and shared. It also came with a choice of bread, so we got the corn bread and an Italian roll. Best meat: sliced brisket. Man, was that good! It was juicy and had just enough fat on it to boost the flavor a little more. Best bread: the roll. I wish the corn bread had been a little more moist. Best side: mashed sweet potatoes! Room for improvement: we had high hopes for the Brussels sprouts but they came out wet. When we pictured bacon Brussels sprouts, we were hoping for crispy sprouts glazed with bacon fat and crumbly pieces of bacon, but they, sadly, did not meet that expectation.

I had the Texas Beef Brisket sandwich. Hubby had the Whole Rack platter. Both were tender, juicy & flavorful. The sides were unimpressive.

Have gone twice. Had Ribs then Brisket. Both tender and enjoyed. Cornbread excellent, Bread pudding fair. Did not like baked beans, or cole slaw. Service and people are friendly and helpful. Would order "Sandwich" or "Meat only", but the "Platter" gives you sides, that I didn't care for. on the pricey side. But enjoyed the meats.

Great place a little bit outside of the city centre. Food is simply great, easy and cosy. Typical hickory smocked with simple but efficient side dishes. Ribs and cornbread absolutely recommended. Staff are nice, helpful and food is served fast at very decent price. Great experience

Stopped by for dinner with friends and had the 1/2 rack of ribs with a side salad. The ribs were so thick and juicy. The service was also quick. I would definitely go again next time I'm in Philadelphia. I really loved the decor in the ladies room too.

... But no magic. The smell of wood smoked BBQ was enticing in the parking lot but nowhere to be found in the food. The pulled pork was ok but the shreds of brisket on the platter tasted only of sauce and the kielbasa had an unpleasant gelatinous texture. The baked beans were well past overcooked , but the slaw, macaroni and cheese and cornbread were fine. They've changed something since opening at this location to well deserved great reviews and I wish they'd change back . We used to really like this place.

Ordered takeout from Lucy's tonight, worst decision I've made in awhile. Everything was dried out and over cooked. Only the sauce was spectacular. Unfortunately one doesn't subsist on BBQ sauce alone. For the price, the sides should be much larger. Definitely won't be going back.

We made this a pit stop on our way to Lancaster pa. I am glad we did, I thoroughly enjoyed my combo of ribs and shredded brisket with 3 sides. What a great price for 4 orders of the same for a total of 62.34, including soda. I liked the sliced brisket better since it was mixed in with BBQ sauce already. Then the sliced brisket which did not have BBQ sauce on it. My wife enjoyed the spinach app and mac and cheese, corn and corn bread. All good finger licking good.

I have tried BBQ everywhere. Outside of the south there is no better choice in Philadelphia than Sweet Lucy's. Unless you like Chains like Famous Dave's.(They serve their purpose), but if you are like me. You want to call a place your BBQ spot then, this is it! There babyback ribs are always consistently good, Smoked to perfection. Be warned, they don't make burgers or any to order foods. Everything that they make is prepared and ready to serve. Because everything is cooked, your order comes quick. Quick food is a must for families with hungry children. If you have ever went to a restaurant and waited for food with children? If so, You would know what I mean. Try their sides, Mac and Cheese, Corn Bread, Collards, Baked beans with Pork , and the surprise side? Brussels Spouts w bacon. These Brussels sprouts can turn the most resistant vegetable person to a Brussels spouts Lover. The thing is that is seasonal and doesn't always appear on the menu. The Price is just right. Pretense is never associated with BBQ. They even give you Tootsie Rolls after.

Listed by Food Network as one of their top 5 BBQ restaurants we took a cab to what appears to be an industrial part of town leading into Trenton and found this amazing joint. As soon as you get out of your vehicle you will be enticed by the smoke telling you these people know their stuff. We had several combo plates in order to try the ribs, pulled chicken, sausage, and brisket with sides of cole slaw, sweet potatoes, collard greens and corn bread. The best tasting, least expensive meals we had on our entire Philadelphia trip!

We went there to try out the baby ribs and it turned out to be great! I just had the meat only - half rib and the meat was tender and juicy. The BBQ flavor was great and will be visiting this place again

First time visit for the Monday buffet. I suggest you go early. We waited only 10 minutes for a table but we got there at 5:30. A line quickly formed and for good reason. Fantastic food and selection. Smoked pork, chicken and brisket, baby back and spare ribs, salmon, turkey and gravy, chili, smoked sausage, cole slaw, spicy greens, cabbage, mashed potatoes, yams, creamed spinach, cornbread, truely outstanding mac and cheese, baked beans, ice cream, apple crisp, homemade cookies bread pudding. Everything was top notch.

Headed home from a lax tournament and this place came highly recommended. It was great. We were able to seat the large group of 11 with no problem. Food was delicious! The pork sandwich, the baked beans were amazing, the ribs, all outstanding! Food is served in take out style containers but it is what it is. Overall a great experience!

This was the last stop before heading back home to Brooklyn, NY. The wife and I are big foodies and every time we go out to Philly we're eating something new for Lunch and dinner. Breakfast for me is always Green Eggs Cafe. But lunch and dinner is adventure. The location was really nice because it was right off of the I95. We were over whelmed with the selections and the sizes. But the lady in the front was very patient and super helpful. I told her that that My Rack of Ribs, Brisket, Cajun Devil Eggs and sides were all to go. They packed it up all nicely and the food made it to NYC unharmed. :o) The smell in the car was driving me crazy though. I wanted to pull over and grab a rib or something. The establishment was really nice and I can not wait to go back and sit down and have a beer with my meal. But we wanted to rush home before the snow storm was gonna hit NYC. Place was clean, and the people were friendly.

I have done bbq all over this country and this place is true bbq. Food is delicious, sides are on point, and service is good. My brisket was a little over cooked but still juicy, the pork and kielbasa were just right. Gotta give em a try!

A co-worker rounded up about 8 of us one day for lunch. Don't let the outside - which looks like an industrial building - fool you. Inside the decor is nicely rustic. There was a line of folks waiting to place their order at the desk. You place and pay for your order and find a seat. I was amazed that my order was called out within minutes!. Ribs were fall off the bone good! I ordered a platter and it came with 3 sides!

This place never disappoints. Very Consistent and very good BBQ. The chili is awesome (when they have it) and I have yet to find anything on the menu that isn't top notch.

I've had ribs in Memphis, New Orleans, etc, but this place shows that the North can do BBQ as well as the rest of the country. Their ribs are perfectly cooked, smoky and tender while not overcooked/mushy. The amount of sauce was also correct and did not overpower the great taste of the ribs. The sides were delicious; the macaroni and cheese was super cheesy and flavorful, the garlic mashed potatoes had bits of skin (awesome!), the cornbread was sweet and moist, and the coleslaw was tangy and crunchy. The atmosphere was as described, outdoor BBQ pit, with tons of people having a good time, some with kids. The price was more than a fast food joint, but this is far from fast food; it is slow-cooked perfection. It's not cheap to buy quality ribs and cook them properly, so those who complain about price should go to McDonald's to eat fried garbage. As far as service, the place surprised me. The person who took our order was quick and friendly, even though we paid with two credit cards on one order. He didn't miss a beat and said "I'm used to it." There are some places in my city that would give you an attitude for ONE card, let alone two! As far as the styrofoam containers are concerned, I'd rather eat great food off of that than average food off of plates. In addition, they have a counter with free condiments, including pickles. We waited for just a few minutes before our order was ready for us to pick up at the counter, so wait time was not an issue. DO NOT miss out on this gem; you will not be sorry.

We have been ordering from Sweet Lucy's for our Super Bowl party for the past 10 years. They have also catered our graduation parties. This year before Super Bowl, I tried a new place near us in Lansdale that got solid reviews. It just wasn't the same. So I stopped in at Sweet Lucy's for a brisket sandwich, some slaw and some cheesy creamy spinach and then put in an order for $500 of barbecue. The order was delivered on time and our guests devoured it - as usual. And the Eagles won the Super Bowl. Win, win; Dilly Dilly. Don't miss the salmon which I have yet to find at any other barbecue. Great rub and smoky flavor and not at all dried out. Very moist. Great warm and equally great cold the next day. And the cheesy creamy spinach is not a diet food - it's just decadently flavorful and not to be missed. I know this is cliché, but it's true. You may have tried the rest, but if you haven't been here, you haven't tried the best. Rock on, Sweet Lucy's!!

We love love love sweet Lucy's! Good food, clean facilities. They recently added a bar and expanded their sitting area. I have reviewed them before. One of my new favorites is their Kielbasa. Enjoy!

I eat here regularly and the food is alway perfect. Today I had the best braised cabbage that I have ever had in my entire life. All of their food is great and I love the free pickles .. not to mention the tootsie roll! The employees are very friendly as well. One of my favorite places to eat.

This place is one of my favorite restaurants it helps it's only five minutes from my home you can't go wrong I love the ribs or brisket sandwich homemade mac & cheese and the brussels sprouts are out of this world little costly but definitely worth it

I'm thankful that Sweet Lucy's is only a couple miles from my new job. I've hit up a few restaurants in the area and none thus far have quite compared to the quality and consistency of the food and service here. You can call in or order there. When it's prime lunch and dinner time I'd recommend calling ahead for your order as the line can get a bit long. The restaurant has a decent amount of seating space and it also has a small bar area where you can sit, order drinks and watch the t.v. Overall, the main and side courses are very good. The offer a number of meals, specials and combos so there's something forThe smoked turkey and pulled pork are good, slightly sweet and smokey, but lacks the bold flavor I've found at other places. However, the brisket and pulled chicken were great. The meat was lean, tender and savory with a nice smokey flavor that was just right. The mashed sweet potatoes are on par and don't have too much butter. The baked beans have a nice balance of smokiness and tang to set them apart from most others I've had. The mac-n-cheese as well as the spinach are also good, but don't quite hit the spot. The deserts are okay. The bourbon chocolate chip bread pudding and the apple crisp were relatively dry and didn't quite have the sweetness I was expecting. This place is always hoping and my coworkers and I routinely visit. You can't go wrong with Sweet Lucy's

This is the best smoke house in the Philadelphia area. Good prices, great staff, awesome meat and pork. Added a bar, but nothing on tap, hopefully that changes soon.

I was so excited to give this place a try and went on their Monday night buffet. After taking a train from Center City and walking thru a tough neighborhood, this joint did not live up to the hype. For starters, their baby back ribs lacked meat on the bones and the spare ribs were fatty and lacked flavor. They served two types of sausage, kielbasa which was not bad but they also served Italian sausage with peppers. C`mon, this is a BBQ restaurant not an Italian place so let`s 86 the Italian sausage. Lastly, greens are traditionally served with hamhocks and turkets bits in the South but these greens were served sans these items but they were tolerable. I have realized that we can`t make good BBQ in this area so I will just have to enjoy BBQ down South where they know what real BBQ is!

Food was just okay. BBQ sauce to tangy for my pallet. We ordered and no one was in there, we sit and wait to be called....11 people got their food before us, we waited for 20 mins before getting food....we waited on my green beans! They did not say anything to us....we had to ask them....this was at 1120am....very disappointing...

Stumbled across it almost by accident - was looking for a place off just off the road and tried it on a whim. Off of 95 on the way out of Philadelphia (heading north). Glad we stopped. Very authentic BBQ. Had the pulled pork and brisket. Both were excellent. Would definitely stop there again. Even my kids loved the pulled pork, and they are very picky eaters

I had the pulled chicken which was good but a little too vinegar-y. The grits with cheese and corn was fantastic, as was the Dixie coleslaw! The cornbread was too sweet, it was made the Northern way. (Southern cornbread is salty, not sweet.)

We traveled about 45 minutes and it was worth trying. The food was good and the atmosphere was 'BBQ fun.' What I mean by that is that succeed in creating a feeling that you are not in Philadelphia but somewhere in the south. I would definitely visit again if I were in the area.

Sweet Lucy's catered my son's wedding. Weeks after the wedding people are still raving about the food. The staff did a fabulous job. The food was displayed beautifully and service was incredible and seamless. I don't live in Philadelphia but I can guarantee that every time I am in town I will be going to Sweet Lucy's from now on!

This was the best Bar B Q food I ever had. My wife and I, along with friends traveled 20 miles to Philadelphia just to try this place out, and it was well worth the trip. We went for their Monday night buffet, and the variety and quality of food was great. Brisket, ribs, pulled pork and chicken, along with many other meats, and sides were fantastic, especially the hot cornbread. The place is very clean, very small, seating is limited, so you may have a wait to get in, but well worth it. I gave them a rating of four because of the limited space and wait time, everything else was adefinitely a five.

We stopped here on Monday night 12/26/2016 on our way home from North Carolina. I heard from a few people that this was an exceptional place for pork, so we thought we would try it out. We arrived about 4:30 p.m. and it was empty, so we were served right away. We ordered Pork sandwiches with Collard Greens, Beans and Slaw. It tasted as good as any pork sandwich I've had elsewhere. The service was average, but a little pricey.. We paid $20 for our 2 sandwiches.

The wife and I stop in here every so often when we're passing through Philly on 95. The location is convenient to hop off the interstate, grab a bite to eat, and then hop back on. Prices are on par with most BBQ restaurants; you can expect to spend $18-20 per person for a full meal. The restaurant is a BYOB so bring a couple of beers. The seating area is clean. The BBQ is pretty smoky compared to most places, so keep that in mind. On Monday nights they have an all-you-can-eat deal for around $20 per person.

Awesome food and doesn't break the bank when you bring 3 or more people when your paying. If you like barbecue you will not be disa pointed. The best

Do Not Use Sweet Lucy’s online ordering system! I ordered food online it wasn’t working. I called and the guy asked me to try again because they were having issues. I did it! Their computer system gave me a 5:15 pick up time. We got there THEY DID NOT HAVE OUR ORDER. We got there at 5pm. At 5:10 someone that works for them told me they were bagging my order up. At 5:25 I actually called the restaurant to find out what was goin on. At 5:30 their kitchen manager came out to tell me all the ways I was wrong. He told me it gave me an order time of 5:45 I explain that the website never told me that and more importantly his employee told me they were bagging up my order at 5:10 and asked why she said that if it wasn’t occurring. He told me she miss spoke and I told him no she lied to me and the first rule of business is to admitted when you f*cked up and had they told me when I got there. I would have gone ran an errand and come back. This caused him to be so upset that he went in and told the owner that I called him on his BS. She came out to tell us about our 5:45 time. We stop her and reexplain the whole thing. At which time she started yelling at me her employees are doing the best they can and she is canceling my order. Because they do not need to be spoken to that way. I will NEVER be going back. Literally all they had to do was say sorry we are really busy we are trying to make it right. That never came out of the kitchen manager or owners mouth.

Nothing fancy here, Just good ol smoked meat. They have a Bar now. We usually get takeout, someday we will call ahead so we dont have to wait too long. Big menu so you should now what you want. You can eat in too, use your fingers.

I was taken here by a friend and never heard about this restaurant.Boy was i surprised! Great Food. I had a Salmon Sandwich which was great! I will be back soon. Very big restaurant, good service and a little bar. wonderful! aarany

OK .. all you BBQ Aficianados will know what I mean when I say ...the Bark here on the ribs and sliced brisket is one of a<long and low smoking perfection.."Never Rush a Great Thing"...!! The woods used are well selected for a Dark & Deep Bark ,yet leaving the meats sweet and moist. The Jumbo Smoked Wings are done with ..just enough.. smoking to give them a slight, sweet smoke flavor of their own ...Get the Salmon when ever they have it (which is very rarely)....All sides are truly made from different family recipes...try them with lots of corn bread & butter ..Order your BBQ dry with sauce on the side and splashed with the Home Style North Carolina style (cider vinegar base) to finish them off..... Don't forget....Ice Cold Home Made Sweet Tea ..or bring your own Ice Cold Lager or Ale...!!!!>>>.BBQ Novices Here it goes: Bark is the cross section of the meat , when sliced showing how deep and how dark the smoke soaked into the meat as it was cooked...The deeper & darker the more smokey the flavor..!!!!....and YES ...there IS A " SWEET LUCY"

My wife and I went here for lunch with a few family members. Great food, large portions. Recomend the Barbacue pork. Excelent service in a no frills resturant. Large carryout service. Good prices. A great find in the Tacony section of the city. Plenty of parking.

Let me just run a few things by you... Succulent ribs, pulled pork, cornbread, homemade mac and cheese... There are many more, but these are just some of the items enjoyed by my group for dinner this evening! This was my first time at Sweet Lucy's and I don't know why it took so long - I've been missing out!! The decor is simple, almost farm-like, but that's part of it's charm. You go in, decide which item(s) you want from the massive menu and then find a seat...they call your name when your food is up. They also have a full bar (my two cents: an Angry Orchard Cider goes great with BBQ!) and the staff is super friendly! The food is served quick, hot and delicious! Prices are great, too - I had a 1/3 rack ribs platter that came with three sides and cornbread... $13.99! You can't beat that with a stick! So wrangle up your pard'ners and get on over to Sweet Lucy's!

Having spent several years down south, I know what good, authentic Southern BBQ tastes like - and this is it. This place is reminiscent of those great little roadside BBQ shacks that still dot the Southern U.S. landscape. When we head down the shore on Friday nights, I'll stop here if I'm craving barbecue - the pulled pork sandwich with tomato-cucumber salad and mashed sweet potatoes is just the right amount of sweet and savory decadence with a nod toward health. :) Sweet Lucy's never fails to satisfy and has become my go-to BBQ stop in Philly. Highly recommend.

Free off street parking is not the only reason to go to this large, industrial style building not far from the Delaware River. It's the great, southern style smoked barbecue right, smack dab in the City of Brotherly Love. The chalk board menu spells it all out as you approach the order window. You might even want to "hang back" before you actually place your order because it can take a while to read through all the choices & combinations. There's Ribs, of course but also Chicken, Brisket, Pulled Pork and Hot Dogs. Then there's the sides; Baked Beans, Mac n Cheese, Slaw, Pickled Cucumber & Tomato Salad & on & on. You can order as sandwiches, platters or just the various meats. So order, get a number, find a table, a booth or a high top & wait for your succulent meal to arrive. There's a full bar to satisfy adult thirsts and a multiple choice soda bar for kids and designated drivers. sweet Lucy's is a happy place for adults, families and is kid friendly. Go for the food, go for the fun!

Don't get me wrong, the BBQ at Sweet Lucy's is very good, and relatively reasonably priced (or at least priced commensurate with other BBQ places). The major problem is the service, which tends to be generally slow but sometimes slips into the area of unacceptable. There is no table/waitress service, so it comes down to how long it takes to order at the register and then how long it takes to get your food (which, by the way, is almost all prepared in advance and then assembled for each order). For example, today it tooks nearly 10 minutes just to order at lunch time, as they only had one person taking orders for a moderate to long line of people at the peak lunch hour, and then a whopping 28 minutes to get the order (which was sandwiches and side dishes). We ended up having to take it to go in order to get back to work, but then had to wait for someone to replinish the straws and forks at the drink area. For this type of restaurant, this is simply unacceptable. I would guess most people eating lunch here are on a lunch break from work, and have to get back. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if the service is this bad it's not worth going.

growing up in Texas, and realizing there is not much real bbq in NJ (ok Dinosaurs in Newark), I found this place online and thought it looked promising. Seeing that they sometimes run out of brisket, I called as they opened at 11 and ordered brisket, ribs, sides, etc and said I'd pick it up at 3. After nearly an hour drive, I arrived and paid for my order...and waited...and waited. Finally, close to 3:30 they asked who I was...then came back and said there were out of brisket. I explained that the purpose of my visit was to get brisket. which for me, is a real test of good bbq...and thus I had called early to make sure my order was good. Although they were very courteous and tried to make it good (refunding the price of brisket and throwing in chopped beef...which BTW, is NOT brisket) I would caution anyone expecting to get what you want. This was a Saturday afternoon, early, and they were out by 3pm...and don't think it's Franklin's in Austin. if you're going there on Saturday night and want brisket, beware.. The ribs were excellent and the atmosphere and bar were nice, well stocked and it looked like the real deal. But....given my distance, not sure I'd go back.

Fabulous!!! My husband is isn't a fan of smoked food...until today.. the smoked salmon sandwich he picked with creamy spinach and sweet potato mashed was all gone at the end. Even the kids said dad you finished all of it! Great place, it was our 1st visit and the bartender knew it and guided us all the way with answering our questions and offering us to sit in his section so we could get an idea on what to order! Thank you!!! We will be back . Family friedly, fresh food and great service! The Philly Beef Brisket sandwich YUM! Kids Turkey Yum!

I brought my daughter for some barbecue. They have a parking lot with free parking. You can also park on State road but that is a four lane raceway. I wasn't happy the smelly dumpster is across the lot from the entrance but they did their best to mitigate with fly bags. It is counter service and can be overwhelming with the meat and side choices. It is okay to stand back and take on the menu above the order window. We ordered a beef brisket and 1/3 rib platters. They come with three sides and a bread. It was about $30 for two people. If you eat in, take your number and put it on top of the paper towel roll and they will bring you order out to you. I recommend the cornbread it is good. The chopped brisket was good but the flavor was bland. The ribs were very good and had a great smoky flavor. I got three sides; baked beans, masked potatoes, and corn grits. Everything tasted good and I was full. The soda is Pepsi products. You fill up you own fountain drink and can make any combination of flavors. The also have a small bar area with beer. The atmosphere is nice with a rustic wood look and they had a few big screen TVs with sports on. I will definitely come here again.

Stopped in to pick up lunch on the way from airport. The ambiance is old school and the aroma was fabulous. We got a pulled pork and Philly Cheese Pork sandwich and a 1/3 rack of ribs. Cold slaw, baked beans, spinach and mashed sweet potatoes were our sides. Ribs were excellent as we're the sandwiches. The sides were very well done. The corn bread with the ribs was the best we have had. The packaging was very well done for the trip home. Getting the food home with our sampling was a challenge. The staff was pleasant and efficient. We also got a blueberry and peach crumble debt with container of whipped cream.

It was about twelve of us celebrating my mother in laws birthday and our first time visit. The food was really good and the service was a well. I will definitely be back !

I love Sweet Lucy's!! I've never had a bad meal and I am completely obsessed with their mac n cheese....it's amazing!!! The smoked kielbasa is awesome and love the corn bread!

Been here MANY times over many years - it's always great. Food quality never changes It's right off of I 95 and easy to get to - in an area that's mostly factories

In the hundreds of cities I've traveled within the US and around the world, I have never been so disappointed. My husband and I traveled to PA with a group of friends from New Hope. After a 2 hour bar crawl for St Patricks day, we became hungry. A good friend said Sweet Lucy's had the BEST food in the area so of course we chose this place. I am a white female, married and work in a very respectable career. I came in with a group and noticed the restaurant was full which obviously means it must be a great place! We had a black friend of ours who they had immediately targeted and told they would not serve him. He honestly had less to drink than anyone in our group. And we all had maximum of 3 beers while on the crawl. When we sat down for dinner, we were told we would not be allowed to be served at all. I am and was absolutely appalled by the treatment in this location. I would highly advise you choose a location that is more respectful of diversity.

This place is awful... 4 ribs and three sides for $12..overprice average food served in styrofoam and plastic containers. All the tables were dirty and greasy when we got there and there was a piece of foil I'm my broccoli salad, I could have choked. Manager said sorry but seemed like it was a bother to come to my table. I don't know how this place stays in business...this was my second time here and it was worse that the first time I ate there. Never again

Everything very good. Lived 15 years in GA and this is as good as most any place we visited there. The Monday night deal is great way to sample most everything. BYOB is a big plus.

We were part of a private group of 40+ people having dinner here. It was served buffet style and was so good. We had pulled pork, smoked Turkey, baby back ribs, mac and cheese, corn bread, mashed sweet potatoes, salad and dessert.

On Monday's from 5:00 to 8:30 on Mondays, Lucy's has an all you can eat buffet. We were able to reserve a table for our party of 8 to celebrate my husband's birthday. We paid at the counter ($21.99) for adults. We each received a wristband and a cup for included soft drinks and iced tea. Iced tea was freshly made and very good. The soft drink machine is the new type that offered any variation of Pepsi products. The buffet offered an extensive variety of sides including Mac and cheese, salad, cole slaw, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, etc. the meats were the highlight. Everything we tried was delicious, all nicely smoked and tender. My husband feasted on the baby back ribs. I like variety and tried not only the ribs but pulled pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken and salmon. There was also chicken wings, kielbasa And pieces of chicken. Leave room for dessert which is also included. The chocolate chip bread pudding and blueberry peach crisp hit just right sweet notes to end the meal. There were asserted cookies, brownies and other sweets. This was a real indulgence but one I know to which we will return. It's great to have good BBQ in the northeast since we can't always get down south.

I went to Sweet Lucy's and loved it. I had a plate where I had several varieties of BBQ'd meats. They were all very good. I got a take out order, the also have dining on site. It seemed to have a good atmosphere although parking was a bit rough on a Tuesday night. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you are looking for BBQ in Philly.

Big selection of ribs chicken and occasionally salmon. BBQ seasoning is delicious and meats are always tender and meaty. Large selection of sides. Best ones are mashed sweet potatoes and the chili.

I've been going to Sweet Lucy's and loving it since it's inception in our hood. I've never ONCE had a problem with my order or the quality of the overabundance of food made fresh daily non-stop. Being competent, able to listen, understand and follow directions may be why I have never had any issues with them. I've witnessed way too many self absorbed clueless people there crying and demanding their orders they made at 6 pm on a Friday 15 mins later and it's mind numbing. Some of you just need to buy your own smokers and and forget for the first time in our history we have a legit Southern Style BBQ. Sorry to those of you let down or disappointed in the middle of a PANDEMIC but I'm not going to let Lucy's go under and wait for Mc D's on the BLVD to bring back the McRib.

Great Food! Must try their all you can eat buffet. Definitely worth the night out. Love their smoky meats Sides are ok... Barbeque sauces are pretty good. Especially their hot. Great flavor with a kick!

Best BBQ ever! I had the ribs they were delicious, mac and cheese was amazing. Service was excellent

I grew up in NC, but lived in NJ outside of Philadelphia for 25 years. I missed my southern foods until I found Sweet Lucy's. The barbecue, beans, collards, and cole slaw were as good as home! Friendly, family atmosphere.

Went in on a Wednesday around 3 o’clock ordered brisket slice mac & cheese coleslaw. Mac & cheese and coleslaw very good other homemade brisket however more like roast beef and dry. taste like it was leftover from yesterday heated up. disappointed because I love brisket. I definitely will give it another shot. Maybe I caught an off day. barbecue in Texas, and this is enclosed to that but good for the area

We felt that this restaurant was more like a fast food restaurant. You could order at the counter & wait for your name to be called to pick it up or take a seat & have the bartender take your order. It was our first time there and we expected waitress service. As for the food, we did't think the pulled pork barbecue sandwiches were anything special and they didn't have much taste. The beans, cole slaw and mac & cheese were pretty good.

It's one of those things when you find out the 'best of' for a place you're going to visit, but you hesitate, because will it really be that good? Yup, this place is. Line out the door constantly during dinner time, super number of sides, including if you prefer vegetarian sides (they indicate which have pork in them), and a huge number of desserts (which you can order as your side!). I lucked out, and since it was Saturday, they had bbq salmon on a roll with pickles, tomato, and lettuce. Two sides? Yes, please! Mac and cheese and stunning mashed sweet potato so superb, it's good I skipped dessert. No grits that night, my loss, but maybe next time.

LOVED my ribs from Sweet Lucy's!!! While visiting family we ate here on a Saturday night. We were somewhat concerned that we would have to take our food home with us but we found a table to seat all 8 of us! I had the 1/3 ribs with sweet potatoes, mac n cheese, cucumber tomato salad and cornbread. Oh! And they had great sweet tea! Being a girl from the south I was quite impressed!!!

Friends of ours took us out for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. This place is located in the commercial/industrial part of town. with a name like Sweet Lucy's, we weren't sure what we would find inside. First of all, we found out the restaurant is named for their black lab dog--mystery solved! Then we looked at the order board and had some thinking to do to decide from all the choices what we wanted to order. You can mix and match- sandwich or combo, sides and portions, pork or beef or chicken. They take your order and its delivered to your table very quickly. We had a large group -- about 20 people and though we had to spread out to several tables and booths, they got our order out in a very short time. Everything was tasty. You had a wide range of customers from couples to families, all enjoying a good time and good food. One thing I always judge is the cleanliness of the restroom. It was large, immaculate and well thought out for the comfort of their guests. My husband was so impressed by his barbeque selections that he insisted we drive back on our own the next day for a second helping! The desserts sounded tempting, but I was so full both days that I had to pass on dessert, to my dismay. So I guess another trip is in order so I can try them! I know that when we return to visit the Phila. area, we won't go anywhere else but Sweet Lucy's.

This is our favorite restaurant for barbecue. Everything is freshly prepared and absolutely delicious from the meats to the sides. The corn bread is outstanding! The atmosphere is tastefully country and down home. Folks are friendly and provide good sevice. The menu include ribs, chicken, brisket, pulled pork etc as well as specials. Go to their menu to see all the yummy offerings. You will not be disappointed! Do not let the outside chase you away as it is in a more industry area. Don't miss it!!!! Mouth watering!!

We love Sweet Lucy's! We go every Friday night. The ribs are delicious. The sides are amazing. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is great. Can't say enough good things about this place!

After we were done doing some holiday sightseeing in Center City Philadelphia we drove up 95 to escape the city congestion and experience true southern pit BBQ. Sweet Lucy's never disappoints. The atmosphere has the feel of an outdoor pit BBQ stand with wooden picnic tables, paper towels on the table and of course pig decor everywhere. I always enjoy the pulled pork sandwich with your choice of two sides. **Get the mashed sweet potatoes-- it's more like a dessert dish! And make sure to get the smokehouse chili with cheddar cheese (unfortunately it is only a seasonal dish). It is sure to be your favorite BBQ!

Haven't been here in a while. They have remodeled a bit and added a bar. The Monday night buffet is the way to go! A sampling of their whole menu- all-you-can-eat for 22.00! Great sauce, delicious cornbread, brisket, hot wings, lots of sides, and of course... baby back ribs! The downside is the place is small, now with the bar area...it is even smaller. If you go for the buffet, you need to be there around 5:00 or be prepared to wait. Seating is very cramped for the buffet. Their sandwiches and platters are great and they do a big takeout business as well.

Forget all you have had in the Phila area. This is tops. Had the BBQ wings and ribs with sides of veggies. Everything is home made and fresh. Not the best I ever had, but for this area it is great. Fairly priced also. I ordered everything without the sauce and added it myself. Ribs were a bit dry but smoked excellently. Going to try the buffet this week also. Cocktails were also poured well, and not overly priced for the pour. This place is a must try for BBQ lovers.

I'm a Philly native who moved from Philly close to 8 years ago. My family and I visited sweet Lucy's many times while living there and always loved their food. My mom saw that they have a Monday night buffet now, so we made the trip to try it. I was not dissapointed. The food was excellent and delicious like always. There were so many options and not just typical food that you would expect at a BBQ buffet. The dessert was also very good. So worth the trip and cost. I would recommend this place just to eat or for the buffet!
Great bbq
Smells wonderful as soon as you walk in the door. Very casual, light restaurant. There are booths and the tables will accommodate large parties. There is no table service, you order at the counter and bring your own food to the table. Ample portions and selections. The choices include sandwhiches, platters or just meat. The ribs were fantastic as was the brisket. The sides- spicy collard greens and the cabbage with red peppers were delicious. The creamed spinach was ok. On Monday nights there is an all you can eat buffet.
