Great food!

By Gannon H |

We happened upon this restaurant after take a night boat cruise and hadn’t had dinner yet. We were pleasantly surprised with the service and their willingness to accommodate our different dietary needs. We would definitely go back!

Alan G(onzalez)was very personable, professional and simply great. Order Nashville hot chicken wrap with a pint of Blue moon or any draft beer and you’ll be amazed. No fake smiles or bs - simply good food and even better service,

Very good food, reasonable prices

By stevendale |

Good food, nice location, reasonable prices. Had dinner here with a large group. Made reservations for 6, ended up with 9, they were able to accommodate us with a short wait. Good beer selection. I initially thought this place was a brew pub for Sweetwater Brewing out of Atlanta, which I guess it is not. They did have a Sweetwater beer on tap along with many others. Appetizers and meals were good. The cauliflower steaks were interesting but a little bland. Great service.

Great Place for dinner or just a drink to watch a Sports Game

By grlskas |

We stopped in for drinks to watch Thursday night football. The bar tender was very attentive on this busy night. He made sure we had what we needed even though we didn't eat. I have had lunch here before and truly enjoyed it. The menu is large and the food is good. Its in a good location as well.

Burgers

By CL232012 |

Visited here on a Monday evening. Was able to get a table straight away and we sat outside on the patio area which was nice as we could watch the hustle and bustle of Chicago. The burgers were great and the portion sizes were ample. The restaurant was not too busy so the service was efficient. We would return and I recommend this restaurant.

Great for Lunch

By Jedda1 |

Popular place serving classic American food, burgers, wings, salads. Arrive early or after 1:00 or you will have to wait. Food was good, service was pretty good, considering how busy it was.

Convenient and good

By Manuelq57 |

Left the theater and was walking back to the hotel when I came upon this restaurant. The restaurant is large and service was fast and cordial. Had a beer and a salad and they were both very good. The beer was cold and he salad was fresh, with a correct balance of ingredients. On my next trip I will explore the menu more and perhaps have a burger.

Yummy Cheeseburgers!

By Gee Gee |

Great restaurant & bar. I had the pleasure of meeting Bartender, Raphael & I ordered the bacon cheddar burger & fries with a ginger ale & lime. By, the way Chicago knows how to make a moist burger. It was sooo good. Yum! I will say they need to check ginger ale machine bc it tasted like water & I had to switch to a Diet Coke that I didn’t want which should’ve been gratis but it wasn’t. Later, a lady ordered the NY Strip Steak which looked so good I’d order it the next time. I recommend, this location.

Awesome food

By Isabel Angelica M |

You have to try de New York Strip and the Roasted Chicken... nice located in Magnificent Mile Chicago...

Awesome Food, Awesome Night

By BartlettDan |

We celebrated our 39th anniversary and a 63rd birthday at this restaurant. I contacted them prior to our visit to see what we could do to make the evening special. General Manager, Michelle Bieke, took it from there. We were given shrimp and cheese curds as an appetizer. All of our meals were fantastic. We were given a baked chocolate cookie ice cream dessert to top off the evening. Our server, Omar, was incredibly attentive to us all night. We will be back.

Enjoyable Dinner on a Saturday Night

By David_in_Ohio |

Ate here as a solo diner last Saturday evening - felt very welcomed and was seated at the bar right away (around 6:45pm). The dining area at the bar was nicely separated as every two seats plexigllass dividers so you never felt uncomfortable about dining with people next to you. Had a nice Goose Island local beer and then the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich which comes with a wonderful yellow mustard BBQ sauce (make sure to ask for extra sauce on the side). Finished off with the baked cookie dough dessert, basically a warm thin chocolate chip cookie with vanilla bean ice cream whipped cream and chocolate syrup, I passed on the caramel sauce. All in all very good service and a relaxing dinner before the rest of the evening.

Cozy Eatery

By Raznboyz4 |

We were tired and hungry and it was Mother’s Day. We stopped in here and were asked about reservations. Nope ~ didn’t make any. The girl gave me a wink and said, “I’ll find you something.” She seated us at a cozy little table out of the way. I ordered salmon with broccolini and mashed potatoes. Our meal was absolutely delicious. Between the service and the food, we left there quite content.

Very nice meal

By TheyCameToBoston |

from the outside (and based on the location) I was afraid that this would be a 'tourist trap', but I was pleasantly surprised as we were seated in a spacious comfortable booth with multiple staff helping to serve us, remove dishes and keep drinks filled. The beignets, were fluffy and sweet and the brunch omelet was ample and full of ham & cheese. Although I didn't try them the cheese curds and shrimp appetizers both went over well in our group. My only complaint is a small one: the extra ingredients were unavailable for the 20 oz Churchill Bloody Mary making the drink unavailable as well. And you can't beat the location in the middle of downtown

Amazing!

By shavonne81 |

Omg! This place has the most amazing turkey burger I have ever had. The customer service was excellent and the atmosphere was too! Do not leave Chicago without dining here!

It is good, but not great

By sparrish5 |

While a nice spot to eat outdoors on a summer evening, the service was not exceptional, the food was decent, but not special, and a bit high priced for the fare. I did enjoy the Scorpion Burger. Otherwise, nothing stood out as "... food with a modern twist."

Better than your typical sports pub in a great michigan avenue location

By Bruce M |

We came here to watch the baseball game, and although we were not happy with the game, it was a perfect place to get good beer and appetizers. Very comfortable, great location, very good service.

Great food!

By Michelle M |

This was our first visit here and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. My guy loved his Philly steak sandwich and my chicken wrap was very tasty. Prices were reasonable and they accepted reservations.

A Good Sports Bar

By Daryl C |

There are sports bars that are more like pubs. And sports bars that serve a decent meal. Sweetwater Tavern is in the later group. They have a good menu of draft beers (though surprisingly few hazy IPAs given their current popularity.) The food is good though not great. But the atmosphere is friendly and the service is great.

Great staff and good location

By Smallsaints |

Upgrade: Better than the first time even if the culinary interpretations are always a bit questionable, nice presentations but then everything remains a bit average even if the raw materials certainly seem well selected. Great service, even quick considering that this time we were at lunch and the restaurant was overflowing. Still good selection of beers, also improved the service of the same. The price remains quite high but, considering the area is certainly more affordable than you might imagine. Old Review (2019): Good service, attentive staff, fast and rather friendly. The food is decent, the chicken wraps not at the top but definitely above average, the burgers valid but better States I found better. The best beers on tap are priced too high compared to the glass served. Price for food, however, great view of the location

So Good!

By Kathryn M |

Beer, appetizers, and meals were all so good! We went here because our hotel was nearby and I was really glad we did. Our waitress, Tiffany (1015) was fantastic! I hope we can make it back for another great experience.

Nice atmosphere, service was good, food was ok

By Travel_Addict_Cyprus |

I liked the atmosphere, and the service was good, but i found the menu to be limited. I went for the stuffed burger which turned out to be too heavy, especially along with the caramelized onions it came with. I am used to my burger having some lettuce and tomato, but this was dull and heavy. My husband enjoyed his linguini though. The kung pao cauliflower appetizer was tasty but drenched in sauce. The soup was tasty. If i eat here again, i'll have to try something other than what i had because i did not enjoy my meal.

Delicious dinner

By Jenn P |

After numerous delays in traveling, my co-worker and I checked into our hotel and wanted dinner immediately. We enjoyed the turkey press and cauliflower steak in their outdoor seating and nothing disappointed! Quick & polite service, awesome food and great atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Great place for a late lunch or early dinner on a saturday

By gordy3000 |

Loved the food and the atmosphere here. We were quickly served, had a nice table with a good view of the sports on tv, and the food was pretty good for the price.

Fast - Hot - Delicious

By AvWriter |

We were attending the Chicago Architectural Center's training for Site and Area Coordinators, and needed some place to eat. This place got the nod. It's very nice inside - nice, modern, cutting edge, with lots of TVs around to look at. We were seated promptly, and ordered quickly, since we only had an hour before the training started, and we didn't want to be late. Our server was very helpful, and expedited our order so we had plenty of time to eat and still make our meeting. I had a Stella on tap, which tasted pretty fresh. I also had their Impossible Burger, which had a lot of lettuce on the bottom (at least 1/2") which kind of hid the taste of the burger and the sauce too much. The fries were fresh. My wife had their Margarita Flatbread pizza, which was served both hot and tasty. We got out the door for a little over $40 with tip - we tipped an extra 5% for the expedited service. Nice place - right on Michigan Avenue.

Lunch

By Robert L |

Bigger restaurant in the downtown Loop area. Very friendly and clean, good menu choices. We had 5 alarm chili, which was good but more like 2 or 3 alarm. We also shared the fish tacos- the sauces were delicious but the fish was dry. Prices were reasonable. I was not disappointed.

Great place and a must try

By TheTraveler3313 |

This rest is located right in Michigan Ave. so it is perfect location if you are near and or around Magnificent Mile. I ordered the wings and they were pretty good and let me tell you these were some huge wings. The best thing about this place was its atmosphere. I absolutely love it. It’s a mixture of sports bar meets club environment. What is better than good food while you are having good food. They also have a patio, which would have been a great option but it was raining so we ate inside.

Great spot for lunch & football

By M @ worldtravel |

In summary - very friendly staff - fast service - large beer selection - lots of screens for sports - tasty food (had Fiesta Burger I can highly recommend if you like spices) - classy atmosphere Prices are not cheap, but fits with quality offered.

Nice lunch spot

By Connie C |

The food is good and the atmosphere typical bar and grill grub. We had delicious wings and great salad. They had an outdoor area that looked inviting but the weather was not cooperative so we sat inside. Our server was very attentive and gracious.

Best Shrimp and Grits on the planet!

By Susan N |

I ordered the shrimp and grits and I wasn't expecting anything extraordinary, however, it was truly the best I've eaten. My husband and son enjoyed a burger and chicken sandwich and no complaints. Good food.

Get the nachos!

By freedomtrvler |

Fast service. Great food. Busy Friday night. Cold beer. Reasonable prices for downtown. Kids meals. Sunnyside up burger was a hit. Nachos with pulled chicken excellent.

Must visit!!

By HotGin |

Great staff, delicious food, and very inviting ambiance....I will be back for sure... the Kung Pao cauliflower was delicious!!! The bartender Mel was gracious and extremely accommodating during this weird times

Modern sports bar with American cuisine and great selection of beers

By Bco |

🟢 Central location on Michigan Avenue 🟢 Wide selection of craft beers 🟢 Sports environment with many TVs 🟢 Quick and friendly service 🟢 Large portions 🔴 It can be noisy and crowded 🔴 Average food quality (some dishes not memorable) 🔴 Beer prices a bit high 🔴 Possible waits at peak times ➡️ Ideal for groups and families ➡️ Not suitable for those seeking fine cuisine 💲 Guide price: $50 per person Recommended to: Groups, sports fans, those looking for an informal and hearty meal. Not recommended to: Those looking for tranquility or gourmet cuisine.

Great Service

By Leanne C |

We just spent a weekend in Chicago and came across this bar and entered for a drink. The staff were fantastic but in particular Karly was exceptional. She even remembered us the next night and what we were drinking. If you are looking for a laid-back friendly bar for a drink, this is certainly worth a stop, and the food is great too.

Beware kitchen closes at 10

By silverspoon01 |

Stopped in after a late night bus tour of the city. Left sitting without a server for some time. Then she rushes the table and warns us that the kitchen closes in four minutes. A full hour before the doors close. That would have been nice to know Before we were seated. I work in a kitchen and I know how I feel when people order at the last possible minute. I would not have come here had i known.

Interesting combinations of things

By archietek52 |

Was in town for a wedding the groom's family had everyone meet at Sweetwater for the rehearsal dinner. Great choice. Lots of different items to choose on the menu from fish to pasta to burgers.....you name it. I got the pork chop with an odd thing called brussel sprouts/sweet potato hash. Not sure what I was getting into, but it was fantastic. Sweet sauce poured over everything.............it was amazing. The service was great and everyone in the wedding party had a great time.

Great cheap feed

By KelvinTB |

Finding Chicago and expensive place to visit so was looking for a Cheaper feed. And this was good. I went for the Impossible Burger, ditched the bun, added a fried egg and it was great. Honestly, i have had one of the Vegetarian Impossible Burgers (sans bun) before on a flight to New Zealand and i think they are great. You cannot tell they are not meat. Wine was a bit average, but hey, i was still happy.

Poor service

By Lovejoy43 |

Ordered chicken wings to share finished them then the bill appeared we said wow your rushing us out the door we were going to order a dessert but again pushed out the door. The restaurant clean great atmosphere but service very poor staff need to slow down and talk to the customer.

Brunch

By Diane P |

Do not patronize. Had brunch. Food was fine. Husband left credit card in folder, which we didn’t realize until bank fraud dept called a couple of hrs later. Seems shortly after we left the restaurant someone tried to purchase gas using our card and since it was out of area purchase was flagged. Cancelled card but out of curiosity, we stopped by Sweetwater Grill to inquire as to whether card had been turned in. Staff advised they’d need to check with the morning manager, took our number and promised he’d call. That was 1 week ago and we are still waiting. So, do you think some stealthy thief was going from table to table checking the folders to see if patrons had left their cards?

Great burgers and beer menu

By scribe44120 |

Apart from the burgers (the Sweetwater and Scorpion), which were substantial, and the beer selection, what made this a great dining experience for us was our attentive waiter and our outdoor seating which allowed for great people-watching on Michigan Avenue. No reservations needed but ours kept us from having to wait for a table.

Spectacularly tasteful

By Stacy |

Love the tart & sweet - Michigan Cherry on-tap. It’s delicious. Fish tacos and burger were great. Service is very helpful and polite. Can’t go wrong!

I don’t often give a 5-star

By BartlettDan |

I don’t often give a 5-star rating, but this place deserves. Their general manager, Lupe, set up a reservation for us. We were celebrating a 40th anniversary and a 64th birthday. We arrived almost 1 hour early and asked if we could be seated. I let them know, if they could not, it was not a problem for us. Within minutes we were seated. The food was awesome. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their food. Our server came back with a special surprise. She said the manager was offering free dessert, if we had room. We are customers for life!

Good for lunch

By AnniK_K |

We had been to Sweetwater before for lunch and while it was nothing to get too excited about, the food & service were good. This time we just sat at the bar for a drink - both service and beverages were good, again, nothing to get too excited about though.

Good Food and Great Drinks

By Frederick G |

From the outside Sweetwater looks like most taverns in Chicago so there is nothing about the decor to set them apart. However, the service is outstanding. Guests are greeted with a warm smile and the entire staff is quite attentive. The menu is somewhat limited but everyone should be able to find something. The appetizers and burgers are particularly good. Nothing fancy, just simple food done well. Good selection of draft beers and a nice assortment of crafted cocktails. Actually ate here twice during my last visit as it was convenient to my hotel and I won't turn down a quality meal.

Unimpressed. Not satisfied.

By Ariane |

The steak salad was the most depressing salad I’ve ever had. $22 for a handful of lettuce, a few pieces of steak, some thin shavings of cucumber, tomatoes, and some strands of “grilled, marinated broccolini”. Salad wasn’t dressed. Additionally, the $15 kung pao cauliflower tasted good, but the portion was abysmal for such a lofty price.

Great vibe, food and service

By hikergirl3 |

I had dinner at Sweetwater after a work conference. I found a spot at the bar and was greeted by a friendly bartender who gave me some suggestions on the menu items I was choosing between. Went with the turkey burger (yum). There is a large variety of beers and wines, as well as an array of food choices. I felt comfortable sitting at the bar alone. Mostly after work people. Good, relaxed vibe.

Dinner

By deneen_coleashbury |

After a long travel day we wanted a close, quick, good meal. Our concierge recommended Sweetwater. Staff were great, service excellent, food tasty. You can’t ask for much more. The menu online here is incomplete - the menu at the restaurant is a bit more extensive! I had potato and leek soup and a bang bang style cauliflower. Both were wonderful! They have a great patio that is always busy!

Great bar for watching sports

By 88niallm |

I had been to many sports bars across the city trying to watch games across my weekend in Chicago and whether or not this is a sports bar, it was the best place I watched sports all weekend. Huge HD TV's, place was spotlessly clean and the service from our barman was excellent. Didn't get food but once again barman was more than helpful in recommending a place nearby for late night eats. Great bar, and great service.

Good food

By ccrosthwaite |

Fun restaurant, with a great menu. Server was good. Drink menu was also very good, a good variety. Good location

A must

By Santiago_flo |

This was a very cozy restaurant. I dined here 3 times while in Chicago. The food was so fresh and flavorful. Order the cheese curds and thank me later

Excellent food and Service

By loaski |

Great atmosphere, food and service. Our waiter was fabulous and had us in stitches. What a great lunch!

Bad meal. Bad treatment. Avoid this place!

By Alejandra L |

Bad food. We ordered Buffalo chicken wraps and we couldn't eat them. They were soooooo spicy and in the menu there were no specification whatsoever about it. There were other wraps offered in which the ingredients were specified in details. We asked the waiter about the situation and all of the sudden a huge guy appeared with a rude manner treated us very bad. Cleaned all the stuff and we paid only the cokes and taxes

Lovely meal

By Mark B |

Came across this bar while walking back from millennium park. Very helpful and attentive staff. We were only planning to have a couple of drinks but after looking at the menu and some very nice tasting cosmopolitans and Moscow mules we decided to stay. A good range of differing dishes explained well by staff. One of our best meals in Chicago. Can definitely recommend the bang bang shrimp and mushroom burger. Our server Devin kept us very well fed and watered just a shame we found it on our second to last day. Will return if we make it back to Chicago

Tasty food! Good beer selection!! Great place to meet up with family and friends!!!

By MidwestKathM |

On a busy weekend in downtown Chicago, our group of five of us started walking in search of dinner late on a recent evening. Sweetwater fit the bill of burgers and beer! Took only 5 minutes to be seated. Friendly waitperson served water and took our drink orders. Extensive beer selection! Meals ordered included two Sweetwater burgers, salmon dinner, tacos, and shrimp and grits. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The burgers were cooked to order...delicious!! The cilantro lime cream for the tacos got high marks! Fries were good, but the tater tots were overcooked crispy. Would give them another try, for sure!

Great atmosphere and good food

By 77K_D59 |

I sat out on the patio and had to keep chasing the sun to keep warm. My waiter was very accommodating. The wine selection is nice and appetizers were sharable.

Great Place

By MNcowgirl |

Had the fish tacos and they were VERY good! Service was fast and very friendly. Devon was our waiter and he even offered to walk us to the end of the block with an umbrella because it was pouring out. We'll be back here next time we are in Chicago!

Busy, noisy, good food, good location.

By Susan S |

Right on Michigan Avenue but art of the the Illinois Center buildings, this restaurant has a varied menu of salads, soup, sandwiches for a quick lunch. Several levels up from the restaurant chains. I had a salad with chicken and it was quite good. sort of a southwestern taste to the dressing. decent iced tea. Indifferent wait staff.

Fish Tacos!

By KiteGirl78 |

Excellent fish tacos. The cheese curds were also very good. The staff was friendly and attentive, and there were plenty of TVs to watch the games.

Would have been fine but for hidden taxes

By William M |

Nice patio great for people watching. Good food had the Chicken wrap with fries and partner had the Fried Chicken and Tater tots, There was unfortunately a 3% SURCHARGE unannounced and just slapped onto the cheque. I find that annoying.

Great Staff

By Scottzbj |

Only went for beers. Really good selection. Yvette was brilliant. She was able to answer all our questions about the different beers and made our visit really enjoyable.

Good local brew pub

By lorab108 |

Many local beer selections to choose from. Full wine, beer, liquor menu. Weekends this is a great sports bar. Food was good and the staff was friendly. Can get rather loud during games and happy hour.

Dinner

By G S |

I stopped by twice in a trip to Chicago. This place has a great selection of beers. I. Are back and had dinner the next night. I had ago tuna tacos. They were outstanding. Tuna was super fresh.

Good Location on Michigan Ave

By Peter F |

Sweetwater is in a good location, good beer selection, with tons of TV's for watching sports. Pretty standard bar food. I had the Bacon Cheddar Burger with fries. It was pretty good. 3.5 Stars

Fantastic quick bite

By MamaLikesToTravel16 |

The burgers and fries here were wonderful and the service was great. Our server was friendly and very efficient. She stayed on top of keeping our drinks filled and that was much appreciated. I recommend sitting outside to eat and enjoying the view.

Great restaurant on Michigan Avenue

By Roch65 |

We really enjoyed our experience at Sweetwater. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was delicious. For lunch, I had the hot turkey press which I devoured, and my partner loved their fish tacos. It was nice to sit on their patio which is located on Michigan Avenue.

Busy Place, Great Service!

By Zorro805 |

Indoor and outdoor seating on Michigan Ave. Being an active place it was noisy inside so we asked for an outside table. The place is modern and pleasantly decorated. Plenty of wait staff and our order was handled in a timely fashion. Excellent choices for lunch and an extensive beer menu. I had a steak salad. The greens were fresh and crisp and the steak was delicious. The wife had a crispy tilapia that was quite tasty. We liked it so well that we came back another day.

Insufficient

By Arnold d |

Unfriendly and still expecting a tip. But still given to be able to leave the business unscathed. Food Swiss mushroom burger not good either. When ordering, the card already pulled away and walked away to enter.

Great Sports Bar

By Guido F |

Great sports atmosphere, food and service. Only concern, the music was too loud to carry on a conversation. However, i will recommend this Pud to my business colleagues. I will be back.

Nice dinner

By Cindy G |

An early dinner during a Chicago trip, we chose this place the food was very good the service was also very good.

Sweetwater Tavern and Grill, Chicago

By ATHANASIOS K |

My wife, my teenager son and I had a wonderful dinner there. The stuff were very polite and helpful and the food was really delicious!! We really enjoyed the steak salads!!!

Good choice in Chicago

By Dmclellan |

Ate here twice, once in the evening and one lunchtime. The evening experience was much better, nicer food, nicer staff. Really went out of their way to make us welcomed and cared for. Didn’t even bother to put water on table at lunchtime, did ask but was forgotten. Would definitely recommend this to couples or families for the evening and try and sit outside.

Love

By nywelshgirl |

We stopped in by chance to cool off from the 90 degree day. They have a great selection of local beers, as well as others. Food was really good, and great bartenders.

Exactly what wewere looking for!

By SNG56 |

We were sightseeing in the city and after a few hours started to feel hungry for lunch. Not knowing exactly what we wanted, we spotted this place. Menu looked great. We were seated inside which was our preference. Place had a nice ambience and was super clean. Our waitress was right over with water and took our drink order. The selection of beers was amazing! Husband had the Goose Island ale which he said he enjoyed. We split the turkey press which came with fries. It was incredibly delicious, so were the fries. Doubt that one of us could have eaten the whole thing so sharing was perfect. The waitress kindly brought us an extra plate too. Service was outstanding throughout the meal. Highly recommend and we will definitely be going back next time we re in town.

Good Food. Even Better Service.

By Bonnie T |

We stopped here to grab a meal before a program at the Chicago Architecture Center, and it was pretty tasty - salmon and chicken. Our server, Raul, was attentive and outstanding. He made sure we were satisfied at all times and got us out in plenty of time for our program. This restaurant is really big - with seating indoors and outside. It’s on busy Michigan Avenue, so the people watching us great. We will return.

Great bar to watch the game

By Jodi D |

Came here on a Sunday aft to watch some football for a couple hours. They have tons of TVs - so pretty easy to have a good view. The waitstaff was great. Ordered several apps and dinner and everything was excellent.

Noisy pleasant sports bar and grill

By Gardeng32 |

We had a decent meal here. Food was well priced and tasty if not memorable. Game was on and crowd watching happily. Our only gripe was the BACKGROUND music was so loud we couldnt hear each other

So good we went back the next day

By Beverly M |

Very well run restaurant and bar. They kept things clean and people distanced during the COVID restrictions. Food was tasty, service good and staff was professional and friendly.

Worth a visit

By Husker64 |

Good food, great atmosphere although a little on the noisy side. Be sure to try the fried cheese curds. Best we’ve ever had.

Great food

By Randy C |

We had dinner after walking around the city. Great Fish and Chips, Shepherds pie and stuffed Yorkshire Pudding. The place was a little loud (Music), but very nice place with outside dining available.

Very good food and service

By Valleyblue |

We wandered into Sweetwater and we immediately liked the atmosphere and menu. You never know when you just stumble across a restaurant how good it will be. Sweetwater was a find. The outdoor dining was nice (a little noisy inside) and the service was first-rate. The server was attentive and knowledgeable, and the prices are reasonable. As for the food, absolutely delicious, everything came out quickly and was hot, flavorful, and prepared just right. Give them a try!

Great food, awesome staff!

By Sunshine300310 |

Best food I had on my trip to Chicago. Best burger I ever had! My husband had the pork chop dinner and it was amazing. The staff led by Jose could not have been more attentive even though it was super busy and at the bar Raul was crazy busy but we never waited for a drink. Great place five stars!

Wonderful!

By Kelly Cathcart |

I had an after-work happy hour here and it was great. We were very last minute and they did everything they could to accommodate 17 people with only a few hour's notice. The staff worked so hard and were very caring and did such a great job. The food and drinks were great. We had appetizers, tuna tacos, mini burgers, carnitas, and all were outstanding. we will be sure to come here again for lunch and happy hours.

Great Burgers and Beer

By Cheryl H |

This restaurant was just across the street from our hotel (Comfort Suites) on Michicgan Avenue. We ate lunch there, and the food was excellent! The Rajun Cajun Burger is highly recommended! Service was also very good.

Nothing out of the ordinary

By Metod P |

We came here for a quick dinner after just flying in from Europe. We ordered the salmon salad and the pepper crusted tuna. The salad was decent but the pepper crusted tuna was so “peppery” that it killed the tuna and you could not taste the fish at all. Service was prompt and polite.

Fast-Paced Downtown Establishment with Great Food and Drink

By Snowbirds-now |

We had a nice family dinner here with 6 adults and three children. Staff were very accommodating. We made a reservation. The restaurant is modern, popular and busy with very good appetizers, sandwiches and salads. Service was excellent.

Dinner not great but place with atmosphere

By Louisetteloulou |

We are looking for a place to dine in the center, and we had no reservation. We went back to this restaurant which was full. Lots of atmosphere with screens on the wall to watch games. Service very good. However, we did not enjoy the dinner. The budget was coarse, fries, industrial and floury. Thai shrimp had an average taste that was too much in a sweet and salty sauce. In short, we will not go back but at least there was the atmosphere and the service. It was better than nothing.

Good Find!

By Kelly B |

We stopped in as passing by on a recent visit to Chicago adn were very pleased with our meal and service. My husband's always looking for a good burger and was not disappointed. The service was attentive and the food was quick, but delicious. There were some beer specials that we tried that were also good find!

Look great but...

By ERSY71 |

Went to Chicago on a family trip...stop by for dinner as it was right there and seems good. The service was good at first glance. My fries were definitely of the frozen kind, the marble bread of my hamburger was really hard to chew and my boy and i ordered medium-well done cooking and we both had medium-rare meat! My girl ordered a salad without dessing, as she doesn't eat mayonnaise etc. She started eating it as all the tipping were on top and she soon realize that the salad underneath was full of dessing. She decided to continue eatingt it as she didn't want to waste food (she made a reference to all the homeless peoples crowding the Chicago streets!). When the waitress pickup her half full bowl at the end of the meal, she ask about the remaining salad. After we told her about the dressing and our daughter decision, she offer to remove the salad from the bill....just to come back telling us that the manager didn't want to and that he mention that all salad come with dressing....!!!!! What? She offer another salad without dressing to bring with us, but what's the point. Why offer another salad instead of a refund? You get the point.

Good beer

By jenh |

Stopped in just for a quick drink on our walk around the city. So many awesome beers to choose from. I had the farmhouse beer and the boulder beer chocolate shake porter. Would do both again! Bartender was very attentive.

Good fun lunch

By Liz |

Came here before a matinee. Loveddd it. They play chive tv funny videos which the whole family enjoyed. Our waiter was soo cute and nice and didn’t seem annoyed with my kids. I got the salmon with beurre blanc sauce and broccolini and mashed potatoes. I ate EVERYTHING on that plate. My daughter had a bit of my potatoes and then insisted on having more. My husband liked his wrap, as well. The side of fresh fruit for the kids meal was also great. This was the best place we ate on our trip to Chicago.

Late Night Food & Drink

By Foodange |

Sat at a high table we enjoyed a couple of different chicken wraps and craft beers, looked after by Samantha. All very efficient, surrounded by TV screens showing all sorts of channels, not just sports for a change. It’s open very late too, which suited us.

Best Burger In Town!

If you like a burger - this is the place! Had the Sweetwater - "8 oz. fresh short rib brisket blend, baby swiss, applewood-smoked bacon, avocado, brioche bun", oh baby, yum! Menu has many options - should have something for everyone. Service was great. The only negative comment - we were there at lunch time - lots of people - extremely noisy.

Average

By HDS1 |

My wife and I ate at Sweetwater Tavern because it was right across from our hotel. I had a Carolina chicken sandwich which didn't have much taste to it. My tater tots weren't warm, either. My wife had a California wrap which she said was good, but not great. Average service, and pretty loud inside.

Great dinner!

By stasee000 |

We were looking for something quick and convenient. Honestly, we didn't expect much more than your average sports bar. We were pleasantly surprised by the great food. There were great cocktails, beer, and wine, and an extensive food menu. Everything we ordered was delicious, and reasonably priced.

Pass

By Ron C |

So I don’t give negative reviews. I usually only post with something positive to say. Being in the hospitality industry, I know how hard the business is and how hard people work and how mean spirited people can be. That being said, I’m commenting on this place. I chose it due to location and above average reviews. Work event needed to be close to a location. Group reservation (6) was well received and we were seated fine. After that, downhill. I don’t know if they were short staffed but our server frequently passed by our empty drinks. Took a long time for him to return for orders. The place isn’t huge so really not sure what the issue was. Just know that service was mediocre and zero smiles. Food was average. I decided to tip 10% which I know is not on the high end, but that’s standard. Tipping above that means you had better than average service. I rarely tip that amount, but for the level of service we received it was fair. When leaving our server approached me to ‘inform me’ 20% was standard. Not like we had a huge party and usually even then some restaurants will add 18% to your bill automatically due to group size. Caught me off guard. In 50 years I’ve never had a server ‘correct’ my tip. I added some in just to appease him. But I won’t be back, nor would I recommend. Beer list was decent so if that’s a weighted factor for you, it would be fine. Otherwise too many options that are better with what I am certain are better representatives of their establishment.

Tipical american pub

By Ratatouille |

Here you can find a real american pub where to taste tasty burger while multiple tvs show baseball and football Marchesini. Try it

Great food okay hostess

By Nickie :p |

The food here is amazing! Our waiter was kind and was always giving refills to the kids. The only down side was the hostess who was not very attentive and was a bit on the rude side.

Fabulous Food & Fabulous & Welcoming Team and great atmosphere. If your looking for a recommendation for “choice” on lunch &/dinner, look no further than SweetWater Tavern & Grille!!

Good food in a sports-bar atmosphere

By DCDolcevita |

Even though we’re not fans of sports bars, this one has good food and service. The burger and fish fry and French fries were all delicious. We could have done without the TVs everywhere showing every different sport, but at least it was not overly loud on a weeknight.

Great menu, great pub food

By lathanNewark_Uk |

Really good pub food, fresh ingredients and well cooked. Loved the dining booths, but we did make a reservation to ensure booking as noticed how busy it got at weekends. Attentive service. Only negative was the dessert choice - only 3 options!

Great!

By CRMays |

We really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and service. They were quite busy and when we first sat down we thought it would be subpar service. Gratefully we were wrong. We plan to go back when visiting Chicago.

Good and friendly

By MJbChateauL |

This is a good location for a solid and well prepared breakfast. Friendly service and very good food! We ate outside, nice place to sit. Good start of the day before you take the Riverwalk our boottour. Recommended!

Sweetwater was just OK

By 972Tizzy |

I was staying at the Hyatt around the corner from this place and the food at the Hyatt was not very good. Sweetwater had good reviews and was close. I went in to order the grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots to go. I sat at the bar and waited for my food to be ready. The bar had a good selection of beers which was nice. The food took about 15 minutes to be ready. I took my meal back to my room. The chicken sandwich was dry. It has a Carolina mustard sauce bbq but it wasn’t nearly enough to mask how dry the chicken was. The tater tots were standard tater tots you would get at Sonic. They are good but nothing special or different. Luckily the prices are not too bad for the area. I would give this place another try and order something else but I’m not in any hurry to go back.

Horrible experience

By Monica H |

Horrible service. Waiter an hour for a beer. Never got refills on water. After an hour and no food our server advised she forgot to put in our order - she advised she would comp the food…??? We never got any food No apologies No I be seemed to care

Decent but expected better

By Piecrust970 |

The food is pretty good, but the service leaves a lot to be desired, especially at the menu prices. My husband and I sat at the bar on a Sunday afternoon hoping to get some beer and a late lunch. The bartender served our beer promptly — and then promptly ignored us for 30 minutes while serving appetizers and entrees to the people on either side of us. We had to get his attention for a second round despite being seated right in front of the taps, so we decided not to eat after all and cut our visit short. Disappointing, as I was really looking forward to getting some more cheese curds.

Good but also disappointing

By Melaniemily |

Stopped in for an early dinner after walking around Chicago. Ordered the New York Strip, medium. It was delivered medium well and parts of it were well done. I ate the broccolini and blistered grape tomatoes while I waited for the server to stop by. Eventually I flagged him down and showed him the steak (which the kitchen had sliced) and told him that to me, it was overdone. Though seasoned well, it was also dry. He took it back to the kitchen and they prepared another which was medium but I don't think they allow the steak to rest at all before slicing because it was also dry. I cannot recommend this steak. The vegetables served with the steak we well seasoned and very good. I also had a very nice side salad of greens with chopped cucumbers and tomatoes that was fresh and was an appropriate size, though the croutons seemed to come from a box. I might eat here again, but would probably choose an appetizer or two instead. To their credit, the restaurant manager stopped by to discuss the steak and I appreciated that.

Would return - apps were YUM!

By Sandy C |

We actually went twice during our long weekend in the city - first for drinks and appetizer, would highly recommend the Kung Pao Cauliflower which was delicious. Since it was close to our hotel we went back for dinner, started with the crab fondue which was fantastic, more crab than most dips (bread was mediocre but did not need that!). We both had entree salads - herb marinated salmon and the southwest chicken salad, both were delicious.

Good food, friendly staff with good local tap list.

By Greg S |

This is a large sports bar with lots of tvs around the restaurant. All 4 of us enjoyed our entree’s. I had the sausage rigatoni with peas made with goat cheese (delish). My friend had the sunnyside up (8 oz. short rib, cheddar, caramelized onions, bacon on a brioche bun. The beers were really good too.

WE ENJOYED SWEETWATER!

By Karen |

Early dinner after the baseball game - and they served us even though we were Yankee fans lol!! Seriously - very friendly staff - even joked about it. We had a nice booth - got our drinks and food pretty quickly. Everything was good - burgers, tacos, club sandwiches and cocktails. Overall a very nice time. Lots of people waiting for tables when we left - so probably good to make a reservation. Thanks for the hospitality Chicago!

Nice restaurant with great variety.

By Scot L |

We had a nice al fresco lunch. There were so many things on the menu that it was hard to choose. I had a sunny side up burger. Very tasty, very large, very messy. My wife had the chopped salad, which was very good. Service was outstanding. Make sure to ask for Stephanie.

Nice food

By Chris N |

We ate an evening meal here and the food was far better than the service. We were seated straight away and were given a menu. However while other tables were given introductions and water, we were left to read the menu while we waited for our drinks. The starters arrived and they were great, followed by the main meals which were also good -but our plates from our starters were left on the table. This was noticed towards the end of the meal and they were taken away.

Have you heard of Bottleneck Management?

By Taylor B |

Sweetwater Tavern & Grille is one of Bottleneck Management's flagship creations, a restaurant/sports bar that opened in 2009 featuring a modern American food menu and an expansive list of 80-plus draft and bottled craft beers. Since opening its first restaurant/bar in 2001, Bottleneck Management has become one of the largest and most competitive chains in the country with 32 restaurants and eight brands in eight states. It all began when two friends from Illinois Wesleyan University, Jason Akemann and Nate Hilding, decided to leave their careers and pursue a passion to become self-employed restaurant entrepreneurs. They teamed up with long-time friend and IWU classmate Chris Bisaillon to form Bottleneck. They opened their first full-service restaurant, The Boundary, in Wicker Park, then launched Sweetwater Tavern & Grille at 225 North Michigan Avenue, near Millennium Park. Since then, they opened Old Town Pour House in Naperville and City Works in Schaumburg. And they expanded to Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Massachusetts. Located south of Wacker Drive and the Michigan Avenue Bridge, Sweetwater offers a classic sports bar environment with indoor dining, outdoor patio, 24 TVs, dark wood furniture, large leather booths, floor-to-ceiling windows and stone stacked walls and columns. Open from 11 to 11 Monday through Thursday, 11 to midnight on Friday, 10 to midnight on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, it draws big noon and after-5 crowds on weekdays and sports fans and tourists on weekends. For lunch, I chose fried shrimp with green olives, sriracha, chili aioli and toasted sesame seeds, pretzel bites with pretzel salt and beer cheese sauce and Rigatoni Pasta with Italian sausage, Roma tomatoes, basil peas, goat cheese, toasted cream and rigatoni with garlic mashed potatoes.

Good in the end

By Helen W |

This was just down the road from where we were staying and looked welcoming. We were shown to a small area with only two other tables and it took quite a while to get service. Unfortunately, when my burger arrived it was badly cooked – dark on the outside and still raw on the inside. The staff swiftly removed it but of course by the time it was replaced with a freshly (and properly cooked) burger, my husband had almost finished his meal. The final meal was lovely and good value but disappointing to have to send food back to the kitchen.

Always a favorite for quick excellent food

By BobN06 |

My favorite place to have lunch or a quick informal dinner in Chicago - either alone or with family or friends. I usually stay near the river and within walking distance. They now have the impossible burger - takes some of the sting out of the discontinuation of the salmon burger. Whatever sandwich you have, if you are a tater tot fan, this place prepares them the best. I usually order them as a side (or appetizer) with every meal. With a salad suggest getting the dressing on the side because they can be a little heavy handed. Fish and meat have always as come prepared as requested. Also have a great beer selection on tap as well as sufficient wine selection for a moderate range sports bar atmosphere. On a nice day sit outside and people watch on Michigan Ave.

Pretty good for lunch

By TStan91 |

Place was mostly empty on a sunny Sunday for lunch. Sat at the bar which was clean and fresh. Service was good but not as attentive. The menu was average and the southwest chicken wrap was a little dry and lacked flavor.. Great beer selection and good value.

Lots of good choices

By Terrence G |

Stopped here a couple times while in town so I got to try a few things. The chicken wings were great!!! Tried the bbq and thought they were the best I have had in a long time. The buffalo chicken wrap was good but the chicken seemed a touch on the dry side. The Turkey press was probably my favorite sandwich. It was a smoked turkey grilled cheese (the best description I can make). Good prices on food and beer. I highly recommend trying Sweetwater.

Nice, hearty meal.

By Jonnyjubb |

Nice, simple wholesome food at a reasonable price for Chicago. Prompt, polite service and everything was as expected. Would recommend if you’re after a decent, non-fancy meal.

Wonderful restaurant

By Yves Pelletier |

Great experience, very affordable price compare to the quality of the food (remarkable). At our table we the Philly cheesesteak and a chicken salad and a burger and all three of them was excellent. The restaurant was crowded for lunch and service by Kristen was perfect.

Nice Typical City Grill Restaurant

By TheHonestScoop |

The food was good, but a little overpriced. When I asked the waiter for suggestions on good local beers, the stared back at me like a deer in the headlights. My lobster roll was tasty. My wife's fish was moist and well-prepared.

Late Lunch

By 042143 |

After driving for 4 1/2 hours and checking into the Hyatt we came here for lunch. Was rec by the Hyatt concierge. Couple block walk and nice weather so sat outside. We both ordered salads. My had the Cobb salad and I had the steak salad. The Cobb salad was actually pretty to look at, nice size and tasted very good. The server asked if blu cheese crumbles was ok and she said yes. It was loaded. The steak salad was also very tasty. The small steak was actually cooked as requested and had a nice flavor and tender. My wife’s soda was kept full as was my ice tea. Service could have been a little more prompt but it was a nice day weather and people watching wise.

Good Dinner

By Qwil |

First, we started with a fried calamari as an appetizer. The fried calamari was very good. I had halibut with couscous for my main course. It’s okay. I think the halibut was a bit dry.

Spur of the moment mistake

By T J |

Took the United Express back from a basketball game, and my wife and I decided to give it a try. We were seated quickly enough, but it went downhill from there. We had to flag someone down after about 15 minutes, and ask if we had a server. The busser said he would get one, and one showed up after a short wait. He helped us, got us our drinks, and then disappeared again. We almost paid for our drinks and left, but made the mistake of staying and ordering food. What I wanted they were out of, and both my wife’s SW salad and my SW wrap came with some very subpar ingredients. With only a few days to visit, this was a bad choice. I would not recommend this place...too many other options.

Relax Atmosphere

By Russ Lacuata |

After checking in at the Hyatt Regency, we were hungry and decided to have a late lunch here. The menu is extensive, a good place to go even for the very picky eater. Looks like it might be a good place to get something to eat and watch the game. Food was very good, fresh and well presented. The staff are welcoming and attentive.

Not going back

By Elo S |

I made a weekday lunch reservation weeks in advance to take a colleague of mine to lunch for her birthday. When we arrived, the manager took a while to locate the reservation in the system but said he had it. Then he seated us in a long booth large enough for about 5 people when there were many tables and booths open. The restaurant was noisy and we were looking to catch up, so I asked the manager if we could be moved to a smaller table. He said "no I don't have anything else and the table you have is fine," which I found annoying and unhelpful because clearly he knew I didn't think it was. There was zero effort to relocate us despite the empty tables, many of which stayed open for the entire time we were there. Because we had limited time, we decided to stay rather than hunt for another restaurant at lunch time. When our server approached us, the first thing he noted about the reservation was that it was for a birthday and told us the restaurant could do a free desert at the end for the birthday person, which we thought was great. After we finished our main dishes, the server asked what my colleague wanted for her birthday treat and she chose it, he brought it, and she ate it. (I didn't have any desert or share my colleague's desert). When I went to pay the bill, I saw that the server had charged me for my colleague's desert. I didn't want to make it awkward or spoil anything for her by asking the server about it, so I just paid the bill. It's unfortunate, because this used to be a nice place to go a few years ago and is really close to where I work. I've brought many work groups, colleagues, and friends here in the past. WIth the prices of their menu going up, the food decline in food quality, and the dismissive customer service, they've unfortunately lost a customer in me.

Overall Average

By dlee81 |

We visited Sweetwater on a recent trip to Chicago. We had dinner reservations but really didn’t need them we were seated immediately and it wasn’t a very busy night. Waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. We ordered cheese curds as an appetizer. They were so greasy it was difficult to taste the cheese. They were also very small - again lacking flavor. The sandwiches were good but not great. We had tots as a side with one of the sandwiches which were very good. Ordered a side salad with the other sandwich and it was also very good. Overall I’d rate this as average.

Always happy, value for money top.

By ramona s |

Super fine food very nice service. We had salad, mini hot dogs and chicken nachos, at nachos we were positively surprised how big the portion was, all fresh.

Good Choice for Super Busy Michigan Avenue

By Chris M |

We were seeking a breakfast, brunch, lunch place on a super busy Saturday morning and happened on Sweetwater just as it opened. Hurrah - Lucky us, since within a short time, it was packed. We were meeting out-of-town friends so timing was everything, allowing us to talk. The food was quite good since we're quick "picky" and we were pleasantly surprised. I had the best burger with no bun with a side salad, blue cheese dressing. It was nicely plated and perfectly cooked. Our friends had various breakfast choices, eggs benedict, veggie omelet etc., and were also pleased.

I recently had the opportunity

By Donald Hicks |

I recently had the opportunity to have a late lunch early dinner at Sweetwater after attending a show (Cirque Du Soleil Twas The Night Before) at the Chicago Theater. I made reservation, I was a little early but that was no problem. The staff was fantastic. The food was excellent. It’s the perfect place for after or before theater dinner.

Just ok for brunch

By Lal626 |

We visited here about 11 am on a Saturday for brunch. We searched for bloody Mary’s in the area and this came up. The Bloody Mary was good, not fabulous - but, definitely presented beautifully! The beer list is fun with some interesting craft selections. We opted to get the chopped steak salad, the Philly cheesesteak, and the beignets (mainly because the brunch selections were somewhat underwhelming). The steak on the salad was not good - chewy and there wasn’t very much of it. The greens and other items in the salad were fresh and crispy. The dressing wasn’t overly flavorful and pretty oily. As far as the cheesesteak ... it was mostly bread. Disappointing. The beignets were good, not great. Our service was great though - so I have to give props to our server. Honestly, I would probably skip this place in the future. Just nothing special.

Bartender Steve!!

By MJ3110 |

Great place for drinks and food. Our stay was made all the better due to the brilliant service from bartender Steve. Give this guy a raise!! The food was excellent and I cant recommend a visit to Sweetwater highly enough if you are in the area.

Good Pub

By Wilton2 |

We ate here on a couple of occasions while on holiday in Chicago. Place has a great atmosphere and buzzes with noise. So not a place for a quiet night but we enjoyed it. We had burgers both nights trying different ones and found them all very tasty. The brioche buns surrounding them were also lovely. Both nights we finished with the chocolate chip cookie. Served warm in a metal pan it was delicious. They also have a good range of draft beers. After chatting with our friendly servers I tried a couple of local ones and hey were very good. Prices - burgers around the $15 range and the beers about $7. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would recommend if you want to visit a lively bar with good food.

Great spot for lunch

By keithgK6071RA |

Great service. Food was fantastic. Food was hot and delicious. High recommend the Kung Pao Califlower for an app. Delicious!

Had a nice brunch

By The_Lankan |

We recently moved into a place a few hundred feet from here and notice this place is open late at night but never tried it. We decided to stop in for brunch. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is nice. There were three of us and two shared a French toast and cinnamon bun and the other had a chicken chopped salad. The two people could not finish the French toast and cinnamon bun so they took it home. Everything we had was good. The bill came to $49.49 without the tip. We will be back for some late night snacks one day.

Good food with attentive staff

By LoriGrg |

We had good dinner here with very attentive staff. Very popular restaurant but we had only a short wait for a table. Only downside was the noise level between music and people trying to talk over the music. Have an outside patio that would be nice in warmer, dryer weather than we were there.

Great eats and drinks in downtown

By Pete L |

After making it through the airport, the blue line, the walk to the hotel, and the check-in process, I was ready to eat. The concierge suggested the low-key atmosphere at Sweetwater, and he did a great job. The TVs had Sunday Night Football, the food was delicious and quick (chicken nachos), and the Oktoberfest beer selection was on point. Nice place to wind down a long day.

A Birthday Dinner

By Bill T |

Had a show in the area and since it was my Birthday, we definitely wanted to eat out close. So went on Open Table and came upon Sweetwater. Sounded good and in all fairness it wasn’t a bad dinner. This is a great sports bar with more TV monitors then I’ve ever seen in one restaurant! Good, fast efficient service. Nice martinis and the food was acceptable - average, but not great. We had a Margareta Flatbread, Spinach Dip, and roasted Brussels Sprouts. Place was crowded and everyone was enjoying themselves - including us! I guess we had anticipated the food to be a step above from what it was.

Disappointing

By Bess247 |

Had high expectations. Lovely staff upon entering, escorted to table immediately (we had booked a table online) server took our order - an older gentleman. He never acknowledged me at all, just my partner. I had fish & chips which were fine, not great. My partner had the taco platter which he did not enjoy at all. It was served on a board and the meat was very cold. He'd been looking forward to having it so he felt let down. Dishes immediately cleared away and bill left with us - service was rushed. We were in and out again in just 30 minutes. Server did not look at me once which felt extremely sexist as he only spoke to my partner. We paid, told him we didn't require any change. He brought the receipt and change back and had actually circled the amount of tip he wanted - which was more than the 15% we had left which we felt was fair considering the food wasn't great, the server was dismissive of me and he rushed us through the whole meal. I felt this to be very rude, we wont be back

Good food, friendly staff

By Danielle M |

We popped in for lunch during a day trip. I had a really good Kung Pao Cauliflower lunch and cucumber mint martini. Our server was friendly and the Notre Dame game was on. During commercials the DJ played music which made a fun, lunchtime vibe.

Visited twice for drinks, but......

By goafishing |

Went in twice on a recent business trip, as usual it was really busy and stood at the bar waiting to be served, which never happened, the bar staff just ignored me and looked like they were avoiding eye contact??? As it happen a friend had sat a a table and guess what, someone came to serve us. In the uk if you go to a bar you get served, or at least they say, “could you just take a seat please”, it’s not difficult to be helpful really, is it? Maybe they could just think on a little and understand that a city full of tourists, they could offer a little help. Anyway, the waitress was absolutely fine, efficient and friendly so all is forgiven.....went back the next night with no probs at all, nice bar actually.

Good Beer Selection, Good Service

By Jeff P |

I ate at the bar at Sweetwater on a trip for work. They had a good beer selection with many local craft beer options, and a nice menu as well. The service at the bar was good as well. The bartender was very attentive and the food and drink came out quick. I'll be back for sure.

A solid choice if you are in the area.

By Smkymtnrev |

It wasn’t where we intended to go, ( turns out the two Michelin listed Latin restaurants close by were closed on Mondays), but it wasn’t a choice we regretted. For those who imbibe, it offered a vast selection of beers, ciders, sours etc…and also had a nice variety of options for those of us fit more into the teatotaler category. Service was a B…getting seated (with no line) took an inordinately long time…likely do to some public on the job tracing for some new staff. Food was a B+. My wife’s taco plate was huge and a good variety of meats and toppings. My Chicago mini dogs (3) were fine taste wise, but combined together seemed smaller than one regular dog. They really needed something with them though…a handful of potato chips wouldn’t break the profit margins on this menu item and would be a serious upgrade to it. There were also some nice city views from window seating. So overall a good place to grab a bite in this section of town.

Ruined by a rude server

By Drew A |

This was my first visit to Chicago in a long time. We were staying in the area and was looking for a nice bar for a drink before we headed back to the hotel. This was around 9-10pm so it was pretty busy. This place looks like a great place to hang out in. As usual, don't judge a book by its cover. It's a shame this server had to ruin it for them. She's a blond, heavier set woman in her 20s, early 30s maybe. While I was ordering at the bar she approached me and asked if we were having just ONE drink, and if we would be ONE and DONE. WHAT?? She then says I sat at her table. Again, WHAT?? No one was even sitting at the seats on this bar table and we asked the nice people in front of us if anyone was and they said no. This B totally caught me off guard. It was then that I realized she was a server and we mistakenly sat at her "table". Wow. Did you really have to be rude like that? I just wanted to have a nice beer and head out. But you're really asking, in behalf of a business, if I'm going to just have ONE and be DONE?? But since she was such a great person, we really did have one beer and left. AND we'll never have a beer here ever again when we come back. Such a blight on a trip to this beautiful city.

Would not return

By geauxdb |

The restaurant is in a good location, has a good atmosphere, but the service was only fair and the food was no better. The cheese bites appetizer was not good, tortilla soup was ok, and the salads were poor. Will not return

Variety of food, Pleasant, TV Sports, option for outdoor seating

By MIke23693 |

There for lunch. It offered something with a twist. We were a group of 7, ordering 6 different menu items and all of us were happy with our choices. Location between Millennium Park and River it offered convent location. Very good food. Nice environment. For sports enthusiasts there are flat screen tvs with sporting events on. For those not inclined tables along windows looking out and outdoor seating. During summer heat a place to cool off. Recommended.

Pretty good food.

By Michael0311 |

My wife and I stopped here. About 9 PM on Saturday, September 1st. This is the FIRST place we have stopped and eaten at in Chicago. I ordered the Rajun Cajun burger, and my wife ordered the Southwestern Steak Wrap...both with Tater Tots for our sides. We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Rolls for a shared Appitizer. The Buffalo Chicken Rolls were outstanding...great flavor, good portion size. The Rajun Cajun burger was MASSIVE, and the flavor was spot on. Easily a Top Ten burger for me. The Southwest Steak Wrap was heavy...I mean it felt like a log, it was so stuffed with ingredients..it was delicious Tater tots where just that...nothing special. All of that, with a coke for me, and one beer for my wife came up to $57.93 before tip. My only complaints here? The drink sizes were pitifully small....by my standards anyway...and the service was great...until we were ready to pay the bill, then it took what felt like forever just to get our bill. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience in downtown Chicago.

What a find ! 👍

Amazing food, great service from start to finish. Excellent surroundings. So clean inside and on patio areas. Definitely going back.

Excellent Food and Service

By Sarah B |

My sister and I stopped in for lunch. They have an extensive lunch menu with something for everyone. We also ordered drinks which my sister wanted made with a different alcohol than was listed and they made it no problem. Our waiter was polite and attentive. They do have patio seating that we wanted but it was a rainy day and not an option.

Good food and drinks

By KK78 |

Unfortunately, the beginning of our dining experience started with waiting 20 minutes just to be addressed by our waiter, but it picked it up after that. The Hot Blooded Bloody Mary not only looked amazing (topped with pickles, onion rings, pepperoni, hard boiled egg and a cheese curd), but actually tasted good too! The build it yourself taco platter was delicious.

Very good!

By Mary Kay T |

The food was excellent and the service was too! We had a reservation for Friday night (which I highly recommend- they were packed) and we were seated immediately. The waitress had water right at our table and drinks were served soon after. She was VERY efficient and so friendly! Our food came out quickly and was delicious. We had the grilled chicken sandwich, fish tacos, spinach dip, salmon, Cobb salad, and a burger and I recommend all of them!! The restaurant is right by the river on Michigan so is convenient to everything! Try it!!

Saturday Brunch

By jwineeng |

Brunch was very good. We started with the Mimosa Flight (4 different types of Mimosas out of 8 or 9 different ones to choose from) was very good! We had the Classic, Bellini, Tropical, & Sangria. Each offers a different taste and is a very relaxing start to brunch. The Two Egg "Breakfast" was good - offering eggs, toast, sausage, and cheesy potatoes. Very filling and a nice menu item. The Hot Turkey Press was served with avocado and was exceptional. Service by Kelton was very good and attentive. A nice and quiet place for brunch.

Great

By PTycz |

Stopped here for dinner. Had the wings and nachos. The best was the chicken wrap. Had a kick, was very good.

Steak Salad-Yes!

By Jason C |

I was skeptical of this restaurant as the host was a bit put off that I requested a booth for 1. She implied that I should sit at the bar. Only 1 other party waited for a table, and it was not over crowded. Everyone else was very friendly. The atmosphere is a fun, energy filled environment with games on the screens facing every direction. I ordered the chopped salad with steak. I asked for the house vinaigrette dressing on the side, but I found it was a perfect pairing for the salad. My total bill was just over $17 with tax but the meal was delicious and I found that I couldn’t finish it. I hope to visit here again.

Great servings!

By pandacb |

Walked in for dinner. Food was good and great selection of beer. Our family ordered the crispy calamari, flatbread, fish tacos, burgers, and philly cheesesteak.

A welcome respite from the cold

By Jamie M |

We stopped by after spending a VERY cold afternoon at Wrigley Field. In need of a decent beer and some wholesome food, Sweetwater delivered both. The bewildering array of beers was explained to an out of towner like me by a very knowledgeable barman who knew the strengths and styles of all the beers. To eat we settled on a good old fashioned burger. Well cooked and delicious, it was just what we needed. Reasonably priced and conveniently located for the loop area and hotels. I’d recommend it.

Spur of the moment lunch venue and good choice it was. Good menu, quick service. Food was nice. Imagine very busy when there is lots of sports on, great amount of screens. The chicken wrap was ridic huge, burger was nice!

Great Food and Atmosphere

Best food I’ve had so far! Great music...loud enough to enjoy yet soft enough you can have a conversation.

Surprisingly excellent

By Jack L |

Start with the Kung Pao Cauliflower, it’s incredible. Fairly large portion for a starter. Share unless you’re hungry. I had the Herb Roasted Chicken. Tasty with delicious fingerling potatoes. It’s a noisy sports bar atmosphere, but the food and service are amazing. Conveniently located in the loop. Highly recommended.

Great food/location

Situated a short walk south of the river, this is a great spot with ample outdoor seating. The Bang Bang shrimp could serve as a light meal in itself. The Peppercorn-Crusted Tuna was a sufficient portion but make sure you REALLY like pepper. Wide-ranging selection of local craft beer.

Bears game watching!

By Patty E |

We were looking for a close and convenient place place to watch the Bears game on our weekend visit to Chicago. The food was good and the service was as well. It was not overly crowded which made it easy to get your servers attention. The had plenty of TVs to watch so you could see from any table.

Nice Spot for Lunch

After our boat cruise on the river, we were feeling hungry as we headed to Millenium Park. We spotted this establishment where there were several people outside enjoying lunch. Even though it was windy and chilly, we opted for an outside booth when we were promptly welcomed and seated. A nice menu and we all opted for huge salads. Service was great, food good!

Like to pay an extra 3%?

Add on fees mean one star review. Like far too many places, post Covid means they’ve added an annoyance extra profit 3% fee. Since they target a lot of business customers, they surely bank on no one wanting to call them out on this rubbish. Their prices are high enough as it is. Will never return

Large Restaurant.. wide ranging menu

By Julian140 |

Large restaurant therefore good place to try if busy elsewhere. Good menu with wide selection of beer s too. Usual good service. Probably the smallest portions we had in Cbicago.. which wasn't a problem!

Forgettable

By DrGeis |

Are used to come here every time I was in Chicago. I always found the food to be good the beer selection superb. The beer selection is still fine but the food tonight was just absolutely forgettable. Buffalo chicken fried spring rolls were flavorless and tough. Actually too much chicken, and not enough of the other individual ingredients to give it the right texture Chopped salad was also ….virtually flavorless. It was hard to distinguish the individual ingredients. As much as I have enjoyed coming here in the past I don’t imagine I’ll be back next time I’m in town

A good time

By G4874CQkarend |

Food and service were good. We had the taco platter—simple but really flavorful—and cajun linguine—good, not great. We sat on the patio, which was nice and gave us a good spot to people watch even though it was loud with the street noise. I guess it was a little busy there, so it took a while for things to come out. Overall, a good time.

Nice restaurant bar in the North Loop adjacent to the Illinois center

By joeAtraveller |

We had a late dinner here. Nice selection of local microbrews and other beers. Food was actually pretty good, fairly basic menu with a few interesting options. Not a gourmet restaurant, more like upscale pub food. I had a southwestern wrap. Service was prompt and attentive. It did close at about 10 on a Wednesday night, which to me seemed early for a city bar. I assume its open later on the weekends. We tried to stop here for lunch but there was a line out the door, seems to be a popular place.
