Every time I visit Southern Cal I make a return to this very popular restaurant as the food and service very good-Although our favorite waitress retired we enjoyed the return visit after 2 years . My nephew and his wife who live near Ontario,California joined their wine club and frequently return to enjoy this fine place to relax and enjoy. A must for those in the area near original Forest Lawn and Hollywood and Dodger stadium to visit.

the place is a landmark .It has been around since 1922 and rich in history. Prime rib and traditional Scottish fare what this place is known for.Portions are large . the desert selections are disappointing. The trifle was ok. Being tall the chairs were not too comfortable. All parking is valet with a $2.50 service charge which seems unnecessary

Was there for a for Sat. lunch meeting of the Traveler's Century Club, probably 60 to 70 plus people. Choices for lunch were Beef Brisket, Pan Roasted Salmon, Roasted Chicken and Seasonal Vegetables. I had the Salmon and it was tasty as were the vegetables. Lunch also included a salad, dinner rolls and dessert. I have been to this restaurant a few times going back 40 years and it is still a great place to have lunch or dinner, and great ambiance--very popular, local restaurant. It is well maintained. Service at the Bar, even though quite busy, was quick, efficient. Service in the dining room for that many people was excellent. Restaurant could be a romantic dinner location, depending on the occasion and the couple.

Chowed down there last month...Grew up in the SFV way back in the 60's and went several times over the years...Visiting town we broke bread with some old pals at the TAM...Thing I did learn was the fact it was the first drive-in back in the late 20's...Who knew? Food was better than OK and a bit pricey...I wouldn't make it a regular haunt but the staff was friendly, the atmosphere old, old school, and the fellow parking the cars in valet was MEGA nice...It IS worth a visit to the TAM...

We went specifically because we had heard this was one of the best (actually the best) restaurant in the country for Christmas dinner. We were not disappointed! Never mind the history of the place - since the 1930's, Walt Disney, Snow White's cottage, blah, blah, the service and the food were excellent. We chose the roast turkey with stuffing and mashed potatoes, and while the presentation was sort of bland (everything was white, except for the gravy) the taste was excellent and better than the turkey that we had at home the week before (sorry grandma). The carolers added to the festive occasions and we were treated to two songs at our table before we had dessert. What a great place to eat and enjoy during the holidays! Highly recommended!

Lovely atmosphere. Wonderful service. Delicious food. Mr. Disney was a customer, even had “his” table — alongside a fireplace. Staff will show it to you.

We decided to meet at this restaurant for our yearly get-together. We sat at the table that was Walt Disney's favorite table, when he came to the Tam. In fact, on the surface of the table are faint carvings, made by some of the Imagineers who shared a meal with Walt. Susie and I decided to try the Fish and Chips, then have the English Trifle for dessert: all yummy!

This is one of the oldest restaurants in Los Angeles. Many years ago, the name was changed to THE GREAT SCOT, but then the old name was brought back. The service is excellent, the meals are out of this world, and the atmosphere transports you to a Scottish pub as it was in the early 1900's. The beef and lamb entrees are exceptional. There is a bar, so wine and cocktails are served. It is also suitable for children.

We visited on Christmas Eve, The prime rib was perfectly prepared, drinks were excellent. The carollers added ambiance to the whole evening, We had a fun, special time here, and look forward to our next visit

My son took us here for my Birthday! We normally go to Lawry's, but had never been here. We had a great time here. Warm, cozy, atmosphere. Food was wonderful. Service was outstanding. We will go back for sure. Charming, very charming! It was decorated for Christmas and had roving Carollers who knew every Christmas song you can imagine. Prime rib is the specialty but lots of other choices are available.

Service was okay but the food wasn’t. Prime rib was under cooked and has more fat than meat. Turkey dinner was good but they brought extra beef gravy instead of the extra turkey gravy we ordered. Not a good dining experience tonight.

I was turning 60 so we went to my favorite place. Started off with pint of Belhaven. Had the corn fritters as an appetizer. Did the half rack of lamb for entree. Wife did Fish and Chips with mashed potatoes instead of fries. Her son had the Tam cut of prime rib. They both had hot fudge sundaes for desert.

The setting was lovely, and the waitress was sweet, but seemed inexperienced. My son's prime rib was quite fatty, and my salmon cut was small and flavorless. It was ok, and I do not tbink I will be returning back. Too bad, I used to love this place.

Had dinner here with a friend, and really enjoyed the older Scottish styling of the restaurant. The food offered here was definately like taking a step back in time several decades back, which was unique to try. Staff were very pleasant and professional. Likely the only restaurant that I have visited since my youth that offers Yorkshire pudding.

This restaurant has been on my List of Must Visit Historic Restaurants in LA= frequented by Disney and many others it has sat here since 1922. Roasted pork sandwich on an onion kaiser bun with sides of slaw and potato salad- traditional but good food! Waitress walked right out of Disneyland so charming-so sweet and said she has been there 20 years.. wow she treated us well and was happy well into the afternoon! Coffee and a hot chocolate chip cookie and I was good for the day! Low celings you feel like you walked into a Harry Potter movie or something! If you like history and have been unsure about going- just do it! Plenty of parking in the lot on a Friday afternoon- some metered street parking as well. There is also separate areas for groups to have their own lunch meeting etc- plenty of quiet dim tables!

Our main focus of our visit was visiting Table 31, Walt Disney's table. We were a party of 5 and there was already someone sitting there so we were seated at the table beside it. After they left, we got to sit at the table and feel the etchings. The atmosphere is nice, and I can tell how it inspired them while making Snow White. My 3 kids were given wax string kits to play with while we waited for our food. They were fun and unique. My kids had the prime rib, my husband eggs and bacon, and I had the french onion soup (we were there for brunch.) It was all pretty good. We are also big fans of the Office which filmed a scene from the series finale here, but that room was currently hosting a private party and was unavailable. There was also a scene from Mad Men filmed in the bar area. John Wayne also has a table here. We tried the chocolate souffle also and everyone enjoyed it. The food was good but not exceptional. We are big fans of the Lawry's brand seasoning and use it all the time at home. We also joined the Lawry's VIP club. It was $25, but you get a $25 credit towards your food. We also should be getting salt and pepper shakers soon since we visited during our anniversary month.

This is an old restaurant with a lot of history located in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles. The food is outstanding, the staff is great. Dinner here is an event with a choice of food items but if you like prime rib that should be what you order. I love coming here for lunch and when I am in LA will always try to work my schedule so I can make it here at lunchtime. They offer a regular lunch menu but my choice is to sit in the bar area where the have a carving station and will carve the meat right in front of you for sandwiches. Brisket, turkey and more to choose from along with a few sides. Can't wait to go back!

I love this restaurant. I have been a customer for years. Best prime rib in LA. Great creamed corn and creamed spinach accompany it. Good choice for lunch or dinner. On my visit yesterday, I noticed that they are remodeling outside. Instead of the drive up valet area, that area is being landscaped and reconfigured for outdoor dining. Great idea. Looking forward to seeing finished project. Inside, it remains inviting and delicious, as always.

Haven’t been to Tam O’Shanter since I was a teenager. It has never changed, known for their Prime Rib. It was excellent, service was very good.

I loved the ambiance. As we walked in the bar was busy and the dining room full. Good sign! We had a reservation for 2 and were sat in a back empty room. No buzz, just a loud static speaker blaring The Monkees. Ambiance was gone. The food was ok. I believe this place gets by on their lore and charm. The prime rib wasn’t the best nor the worst I’ve ever had. I’d go back and sit in the bar. Our server was nice. The hostess was semi-unwelcoming, but maybe an off night.

If you love Irish pubs how you love Irish food this is the place the toad in the hole is breathtakinge to come OMG well worth the visit

I will give this place 2 stars because of its age & beautiful structure. The management needs to go. This place is living on its claim to fame that Walt Disney at one time in history came here. Folks He's long gone.Your service & policies are terrible. I went there on a Sunday with 2 friends for brunch driving 20 miles to show a visitor from the U.K, the place & have a lunch. We arrived at 1:00 p.m & ordered drinks & wine. we visited & talked & when it came to ordering food at 5 minutes after 2:00 we were told the kitchen closes at 2:00. the place was packed & the kitchen was closed. We were never warned to order. Who ever heard of a kitchen closing on a Sunday at 2:00. This was after we spent money on drinks. All that was opened was a pub bar with only high cholesterol meat & potato salad. They had a mushroom & cheese panini. One guest of mine recently had surgery & could not eat meat. We asked the pub attendant with no personality if we could have a grilled cheese with no mushrooms. No we could not get that The sandwich was already made. He could not grill a cheese sandwich as the grill was off. (2:15) We went back to our table prepared to leave with no food when I asked for the manager. Could we at least get a desert or a piece of pie.. No.. Nothing from the kitchen. Maybe some french fries to satisfy us. The manager said no but the assistant gave in. The manager was rude & cold & could care less if we were hungry or had driven a long ways. That was policy.. Bottom line. This place is over the hill living on a former glory of success. It seems as tho someone sets the rules & the staff is afraid of losing their job if they try to please the customers.. No flexibility at all. I living here would never go back not that they care & my visitor from England was astounded by the American rudeness of the place. Being that the "Tam" as we used to call it was trying to be so "Brit" They failed. What idiot closes a kitchen at 2:00 on a busy Sunday when offering brunch for a Sunday outing. Please be advised, Walt Disney is Dead but this place is now "Mickey Mouse" You can have your prime rib bone & put it some where other then on a plate. This restaurant is over the hill!!. Too bad. It was once wonderful but then everything is changing. So many places closing. It wont be long. Put in your application now for a low income apartment. You might get one of 4 amongst the 150 units if you know what I mean. Get it? Photo of Tam O'Shanter - Los Angeles, CA, United States. Cliental. Useful Funny Cool

This restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere. We had lunch at the famous table #31 and we loved it. The food was very good, prices are average, maybe a little higher. Nice selection of beers, many on tap. Service is great.

The food was good, service was slow. The wait for three simple menu items was extremely long. They got our drinks and soup (the French onion soup is excellent) out quickly, but after that it was a wait. It wasn't extremely busy at the time.

We booked a reservation here through the Open Table app exactly 30 days before we planned to go (as this was the earliest a reservation-and request- could be made) in order to clinch eating at Walt Disney’s favorite table. However, on the day we were heading to the restaurant for their earliest lunch sitting we got stuck in traffic and knew we would a bit late for our reservation, so we called the restaurant to let them know and they were very understanding and said it wouldn’t be a problem. Thankfully we wound up only being 15 minutes late, so not too bad considering how LA traffic can be. And we truly appreciated how good the restaurant was about that…however, once we got there we found out that the table that we had requested a month in advance wasn’t available to us-not sure if it was because we were a little late or if we wouldn’t have gotten it anyway…but the party that did get it, came in about 15-20 minutes after we were seated. They were told by the man who accompanied them to the table that that table was Walt’s favorite-and they didn’t even seem to care! Not sure if the man was part of some tour company or what but he didn’t appear to be staff (based on the way he was dressed). So seeing as we, being big Disney fans, didn’t get the table we had requested so far in advance but this group of people who couldn’t care less that it was Walt’s favorite had gotten it, was very disappointing. Thankfully we at least got to sneak in a few picture by the table before the other party ever showed up (as the restaurant at least gave us a table nearby). As for the food at the restaurant-the hamburger I was interested in getting (I had seen it on their menu on the Open Table app as a lunch option) actually isn’t on their lunch menu at all. Thankfully the waitress told me I could still order it despite the fact it was a dinner menu item only. So, I got the hamburger…and it wasn’t prepared as I had requested, it had cheese when I had requested no cheese, so it had to go back. That wasn’t that big of a deal really, but after I got my corrected burger the waitress only came back one other time- and that was just to bring out our bill. She never asked me if everything was ok with my corrected burger or came back at any point to see about getting me or anyone else in our group any drink refills! As for the rest of our party and their take on the food (and lack of refills), only one person really liked their meal here, so not the best food experience for any of us well, save that one. Overall, I would say this restaurant was just so-so at best and sadly I won’t be likely to come back, unless they honored my original request to eat at Walt’s favorite table, oh and made sure to give us some drink refills during our meal!

We decided to meet at the Tam O'Shanter restaurant for our annual lunch. Since we arrived as the restaurant was opening, we chose to eat in the dining room, and were seated at the table where Walt Disney liked to sit. Be aware that for the next couple of months, this restaurant is undergoing renovation (to install a patio eating area).

We live in the neighborhood and have dined here numerous times over the past year since arriving in LA. Food was great as usual. Unfortunately, you guys hired an old militant hostess to set up in the parking lot to check/take reservations this Sunday. Terrible demeanor and bad attitude. I wanted to leave on the spot, but wife was hungry so we stayed. One thing for certain, if she is there next time, we will leave and dine elsewhere. Cannot believe Tam's would hire someone lacking in etiquette to the degree of this particular employee. With restaurants struggling at this time, top notch staff is important to staying in business and keeping your customer base happy. Put a friendly, outgoing person up front. Have the militant sweep the parking lot.

A couple of years ago, I read Walt Disney hashed out Snow While and the Seven Dwarves at Tam O’Shanter. Since I am a Disney fan, I had to pay a visit. A couple of days ago (Saturday Dec 23) before the Chargers game, we stopped in for brunch. Although the portions were small, it was sitting at Walt’s table that made it worthwhile.

Stopped for brunch as we heard this had been a favorite lunch spot of Walt Disney. They have a table labeled as where he sat and there are itches in the table made by Disney and his imagineers. A poster on the wall commentates the site. Food was excellent. Our group had prime rib and fish and chips. While food was good, prime rib was a little thin. There were ample portions of cod fish and it was very good. First time we had tried Yorkshire pudding and while good, we didnt know that it was basically a puff pastry type roll! The staff was very attentive and friendly. Recommend this restaurant for the food, the staff and the atmosphere.

We were a group of 5. Before the rest of the group arrived, we ordered three appetizers: devils on horseback, meatballs, and green beans. The meatballs were hard and the green beans had obviously been of the frozen variety with some candied walnuts tossed in. Frozen? A place like the Tam O Shanter should either serve fresh veg (as we’ve had in the past) or take that item off the menu! And they were rubbery. As for the actual dinner, two of us ordered burgers and three of us ordered bowls of chili. Apparently the burgers were decent, the chili was lukewarm at best. One of us asked for a basket of The normally delicious limpa bread - to go with the chili. After one of us flagged down the waitress when it didn’t arrive, it finally arrived as our empty chili bowls were being taken away. The bread was not fresh. At the end of this meal one of our group asked for water. It was warm. I don’t know if they were just having a bad night or if this is the new norm. Think twice before you go there.

We went to the Tam O'Shanter for a celebratory dinner, and the food and service was top notch. We were given a nice table with a lot of room for our group of six, and everyone was really happy with what they ordered. It is fun to go to iconic restaurants in LA, and this one didn't disappoint.

If you love a great, personalized carvery this restaurant is the place for you. Went to the Tam right before the Holidays and enjoyed an amazing lunch, as usual. Eleven of us came together to celebrate the tastes of the season. We brought some great wine and the corkage fee is very reasonable. Each of us ordered from the carvery station, most had the prime rib which was fantastic, sides of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach or corn. The Roast Beef and Brisket are also great but better for sandwiches than platters. The ambience is always amazing but this time of year reflects a very English / Tudoresque Christmas. All of the servers are amazing and we usually visit 8 to 10 times a year and can highly recommend the Tam O'Shanter for your next gathering, company celebration or just post work social.

After several TripAdvisor recommendations, we decided to celebrate a birthday dinner at Tam O'Shanter and we are glad we did! Our original reservation was for 6:30pm, but at around 4:30 we were already hungry. So I called the restaurant, and they happily obliged to seat us earlier. We pulled up at 5-ish and valet ($5.00) was right there ready to park the car for us. A week prior, I had requested that if possible, we would like to sit at Walt Disney's favorite table, since we are huge Disney fans, and our hostess made that possible! Our server Melinda was awesome. She took our drink orders and they arrived along with our appetizer of deviled eggs which were really yummy. The birthday boy and I both ordered the "Prince Charlie" cuts of prime rib. They were cooked to perfection. Our sides were creamed spinach, creamed corned, mash potato and gravy and Yorkshire pudding. The food was just delicious, but neither of us could finish off our prime rib, they were really big! I will go for the smaller cut next time. For desert, we ordered the chocolate soufflé with house made cream and crème brule. Our server knew it was my son's birthday, so she came out and wished him a happy 21st and brought him an English Trifle (on the house) with a candle! We look forward to returning!

Sad to pass on this negative review of an old LA standby, Tam O Shanter, part of the Lawry's family. Went there this evening for supper in the Carvery. On the menu was advertised Tanqueray gin $9.00. Ordered a Tanqueray martini up. Was charged $16.00. Mentioned it to the waiter who explained that the up charge was due to the fact that I had ordered a mixed drink. No adjustment was offered. I asked to speak to the manager on duty, Noelle. She said the same thing and offered no adjustment to the check. Perhaps I am wrong but I think it is outrageous to charge $7.00 more for .05 cents of vermouth. Furthermore, the so-called manager appeared attired in blue jeans. Inappropriate in a restaurant of that caliber. I hold the management responsible for not training their staff properly. A good manager would have adjusted the bill or offered the drink with the complements of the house. My advice to readers of Trip Adviser reviews is to stay away in droves from Tam O Shanter and, for that matter, Lawry's as well.

Attended a business/social dinner with 9 people. Waitstaff very professional and personable, great support team behind her, very efficient in drink orders and delivery, menu and specials descriptions. Handled our moderately large group and personalities very well. Food was great, Prime Rib (as always) along with the specials that night of a Salmon Dish, a Prime NY Steak dish, a regular menu item Chicken Dish and others. Highly recommend for a professhial yet social or casual dinner outing. Outside Patio Dining also looks inviting.

I showed up as a solo guest requesting a seat at Walt’s table, and the hostess didn’t question it or make an excuse to seat me elsewhere. All of the servers seemed to understand the appreciation of fans and were glad to interact with me at the table. The food was delicious - highly recommend the filet!

We went to the Tam for lunch for the second time in a month, we usually do dinner. I have never tried the sandwich bar section but I did this time. Was I glad I did! I had the Reuben Panini and it was delicious! They had lots of choices and 'platter' choices too. The other 3 in our party had the platter of beef, it comes with mashed potatoes and a creamed vegetable and the small salad bar. My Reuben had lots of meat, sauerkraut, on rye and just crisp enough. Need to do that again next time. YUM

As always A+++with food and service, this is the best prime rib and yorkshire pudding. Never had a bad meal here. And they serve Boddingtons beer

We wanted to eat at this place for lunch as a big fan of Walt Disney. It is a bit off the regular tourist path but well worth the visit. Luckily we did get the famous table 31 which was Walt’s favorite. We had arranged for this to be booked ahead of time as I understand is in quite demand. There wasn’t many people in the place at the time though. We had the fish & chips which was very nice, 2 pieces of fish each of a whole pile of very tasty chips served with tartare sauce. Our server (sorry cant remember your name) was absolutely fantastic and was very prompt and kept our glasses full. I recommend this place.

My son and I had a great dinner in 2016. He has been here regularly and suggested we do a rare father -son dinner here together. Very nice atmosphere, active bar with music. Many wines by the glass with good selection of Napa Reds. This is far more than a Scottish Pub. We each had the pan roasted steak filets and they were cooked to perfection. Service was great and we also got some history of the place from our waiter. We sat at John Wayne's table # 31. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you are hungry for beef.

We took my wife on a Scavenger Hunt of all things Walt Disney in Los Angeles. We planned it weeks in advance and called 3 times to make reservations and request Table 31- Walt's Table. When we arrived the restaurant was quiet and there was just one other table seated - Table 31. They told us that they never promise that table as you don't know who will walk in and request it. They even told us the group seated had requested it. They sat us at another table - and the waitress was told it was my birthday and if possible we would like to know any Disney stories and to take pictures at the table once the couple left. She didn't tell us anything, not even the specials. Once she left - the couple told us they had no idea it was a Disney table and had not requested it. The waitress over the course of the evening showed several people around the restaurant pointing out Walt info - but not a word to us. She also never told us the specials except to say well you should have ordered the special, and she mixed up our drinks and when it was noticed she just switched them between us-after we had taken several drinks.. The food is creative - and was well prepared. The atmosphere is very period and appreciated. We had the prime rib, filet, and toad in the hole - all were very good. We ordered for dessert the Chocolate Souffle- which was small and unremarkable, The Carrot cake was a mii layer cake and quiet dry and English trifle was not worth the calories. But the manager, hostess and server were all really put out that we would come to this place to look for Walt history - and made my wife feel like here excitement for the birthday scavenger hunt was not welcome. I am not sure where I stand on recommending it to others. I will often give food or a single bad service person another chance, but multiple service people I am just not sure.

Wife's Birthday so I wanted to take her some place that we hadn't been before so I made reservations for Saturday night, We like old historic places and Prime Rib so I figured I would give Tam O'Shanter's a try. Pulled into the parking lot and received an immediate cheerful greeting from the valet attendants. A short walk to the door and we are again immediate greeted by the hostess, and then guided to our table. Before we were even fully settle, our water and bread plate was delivered by the busboy, who has been with the restaurant for 28 years again cheerful and pleasant. Without missing a beat our waitress Jill, greats us gives us the run down on the menu, tells us that is we like whisky they have over 200 types (as much as I would like to try them all, I need to save some room for dinner) and leaves us to the menu and suggests the Scottish Rarebit, the wife comments that she thought I was going to try the Haggis, but since it was only two of us and she wouldn't touch, it I defer to something a little more to her taste. Jill let us know that it was a G rated version, but the wife still wouldn't go for it. One day I'll get her to try it. But I digress. So we place our drink order and Jill goes off to get them. Jill returns with our beverages and asks if there are any questions on the menu, and then takes our order French Onion Soup Scottish Rarebit A side of Mushrooms Two Tam O'Shanter cuts of prime rib And the Chocolate Souffle The Scottish Rarebit arrives, it basically cheese fondue with Cayenne pepper on top and some toast points to dip, very good, while there was more than enough for the wife and I to share it you have more than two in your party then there might not be enough bread for everyone to get their fill. Great Flavor and presentation. A wonderful starter. French onion Soup - Nice large bowl, small bits of bread and just the right amount of cheese make this a wonderful version of the dish, too much soup for the wife and I to finish and still have room for the main course. Our main course arrives in perfect time and is beautifully cooked, I had the mashed potatoes and Creamed Spinach for my sides, wife had potatoes and creamed corn, while the spinach was very good the Creamed corn was better, so I will pick the corn on our next visit. The prime rib was beautify, tasty and not a hint of extra fat, just enough for the beautiful flavor, I even got a bone on mine, and our non-human companion who had to stay home got a wonderful treat for lunch the next day. 5 Tail wags (stars) for the surprise bone. Not being the competitive eater that I used to be I stopped after about 1/2 my prime rib because we still had the souffle on deck. We got everything boxed up to go and then Jill stopped by to chat and gave a little history of the restaurant and that we were sitting on the opposite side of the wall from Walt Disney's table and then she went to get out souffle, it was beautiful and fluffy. I am not the world's biggest fan of chocolate but the wife loves it so I was very pleasantly surprised by the subtle flavor of the souffle, just enough to give you the flavor but not over powering. Overall the food gets 4.5 stars Moving on to the atmosphere, the place is old, the place is full of history and the place is wonderful for those reasons alone, it's hard to imagine anyone building something with this much class and character today even if they tried. Just being in a building this beautiful makes it hard to have a bad meal. Our visit was in the middle of July, I can just imagine the ambiance of this space during the holidays with fireplaces goings and the holiday cheer. 5 Stars for the Ambiance Finally the staff - This is another one of those time where you really want to be able to give more stars and credit to the staff for adding that extra touch to make your visit more enjoyable, from the Valet, to the front Desk and back to our Waitress Jill; and the the bus staff thank you very much for the outstanding service and attention - Anything less than 5 stars would be a lie. For the Critics Valet Parking, if you are coming to a restaurant in this price range and are going to complain about $3.50 for Valet parking you need to find someplace else to eat, I hear the sizzler down the road has self parking. Dull Knives - Use the steak knives they bring you not the butter knife, our steak knives were sharp and cut though the prime rib easily Prices - Yes it is more expensive than Sizzler, if that is your price range, go there, you pay for the quality, service and ambiance, Here you better quality food, Much better service, and a whole lot more ambiance. Highly recommended for that special occasion or just when you feel like it, reservations are recommended just to be on the safe side and remember to save some room and order your Souffle in advance so you are not disappointed

What a fun place to eat! Wait staff dressed in Scottish themed outfits! Prime rib sandwich is very tasty!! The beef brisket also good... the prime rib a bit better:-)). Sandwiches come with a “Salad bar” - beet salad, coleslaws, potato salad, pickles.... Good range of beer on tap! Good for a quick bite or take your time.

The "Tam," as people call it, has been around for a long time, notable for its prime rib and also its fish and chips. The service is top-notch and the food is delicious and definitely filling. We went there for a birthday lunch, where you can get a prime-rib sandwich with all the trimmings for a lot less than a prime rib dinner. Their sandwich bar is always busy during normal lunch hours, with patrons enjoying soft drinks, beer and wine. There are Scottish plaid cloths framed on the walls for each family-owned insignia. Also, its across the street from many other shops you can visit.

I placed an order for pick up to bring to a friend who was celebrating a birthday while recovering for major surgery. The delicious prime rib (and OUT OF THIS WORLD TASTY rarebit!!!) brought a huge smile to all of our faces! The quality was fantastic, the take out orders were boxed perfectly and the taste was exceptional. You really brightened up our day and we can't wait to visit in person soon. Thanks to all for really going the extra mile and continuing your high standards with take out orders!

Are you looking for good food? Visit Tam O’Shanter. A Los Angeles landmark worth the trip and the food. Visit the sandwich bar. Have a family dinner that will put a smile on your face. Go back in time and feel the history of the place.

Took a friend for a meal and she damaged her tooth on a piece of bone in the prime rib. Gave us a free dessert wow. Told us to get tooth checked at dentist. Will cost $3000 and they are not interested. Passed onto their insurance company. I cannot speak to anyone at corporate office or the insurance company. Oh and the food was not that great.

We enjoy going to this iconic restaurant during the holidays. This year we couldn't go until after Christmas, so we were very pleasantly surprised to find out that their traditional Christmas carolers were still working all the tables. Even more surprising was that their most frequently requested song this year was "Baby, It's Cold Outside." They said they have been singing it about 20 times a night. BTW, the prime rib dinner was delicious!

This restaurant is over 90 years old (oldest restaurant in LA), and was visited by many famous Hollywood celebrities including John Wayne and Walt Disney! Besides the awesome decor, the food was delicious - especially the prime rib and sundae. So good!! This was also Lawry's owners' first restaurant. I came here for DineLA so price was good but in general in looking at the menu, I thought the price is reasonable - less than $50 for entree. Definitely a must visit!!!

This Los Angeles landmark has been feeding the fine people since 1922! The interior is like stepping into a historic Britsh inn, highly theme and decorated! Some of the patrons of the Tam O'Shanter were from the original Walt Disney Studios that were located nearby. Today, there is a special table that Walt and his animators would have their lunch and you can make a request for that table. I was very excited when my request was honored and I enjoyed my Thanksgiving meal at this table. There are a few drawing etched into the table, one of a dinosaur! Our hostess was very knowledgeable and provided some great information about the table and restaurant. The food was great, hearty and simple. I had the traditional Thanksgiving dinner with an add on of Prime Rib as that is a Lawry's trademark! The meat was moist and tasty, excellent gravy on the mashed potatoes. My only request would be to have a bit more gravy. The stuffing was traditional, not fancy. I enjoyed apple pie for dessert! Being a landmark, the prices are expensive but I feel it was not overpriced and the food and environment are excellent and welcoming! I would recommend reservations, and request the Disney table if that is something you want to experience!

The prime rib dinners here are superb. We both had a different style of prime rib. I had the T'am Oshanter, which is the original prime rib cut, served medium rare. My husband enjoyed the English Cut medium. This is thinly cut slices of prime rib. They both came with vegetables (either creamed corn or creamed spinach), Yorkshire pudding, and mashed potato. Horse radish either raw (very good) or creamed is also furnished. They also have superb complementary bread. We enjoyed for dessert their wonderful chocolate souffle. For our drinks we had cocktails - gin and tonic and Moscow Mules. With dessert, we enjoyed coffee. The old style English atmosphere is superb. There is also a pub section where Sunday night football was playing. They have multiple TVs. There is interesting art and news articles. The restaurant has been in the area since 1922. Service was superb. One does have to valet the car for an inexpensive price. This is a Lawry's restaurant and one of the best prime rib dinners we have had. As such, I have rated it excellent.

Fun as usual, The atmosphere is very welcoming and clean. Unfortunately, the server we had was running like crazy from the pub area, where we sat, to the main dining room to assist customers. It took a crazy amount of time to place our order. We knew the location was busy but we expected, at least our easy to make starters to be delivered to the table in a reasonable amount of time. When the starters did arrive, one of the orders was not delivered. We waited for the order to arrive and did ask several staff members passing by to get our server. Eventually, the server did come by and remedied the problem. We were not charged for the one starter. Our main meal was good but again when we needed something, it was impossible to get someone to assist us. Our drinks were not refilled nor were we asked if we wished more cocktails at anytime. At the end we needed to ask for our check after we waited over 30-minutes for it. I would try this restaurant again but not on a weekend. I would pick an off-time to see if the service was better. Forget the Rarebit, it was terrible!

The oldest restaurant in LA still family owned by the origin. Also the creator of Lawrys prime rib. Honestly, the quality of Lawrys in Beverly Hills have dropped in quality. I would prefer Tams over the other location. Now down to the meat and potatoes. The prime rib is the main attraction here. Though you may not get the fancy table side carving and classical feel the juicy cuts of prime rib is one point. Don’t forget to ask for extra au jus. Will return to this place for a nice cut of prime rib and a blast into history for nostalgia

Oddly, it's hard to find good live music in LA. Tam O'Shanter's is one of the few places I know of where you can hear LIVE Irish or Scottish Music and it's only on Wednesday and Fridays. The Ploughboys are really good. They know A LOT of tunes...especially the hard to find ones like Arthur McBride and Star of County Down. We had a blast! The minute you walk in this place, you feel like family. Everyone welcomes you, even the other patrons. Pretty quickly, we were all singing along and dancing about, having a good old time! Their house whiskey is fabulous!

We have been going for years and go to some of their holiday events. They have a great weekend brunch, excellent selection of dinners, great appetizers and deserts. They also have a carvery for sandwiches for a quick lunch.

not good!! bad service and raw food! waiter was unbelievably rude, portion sizes were small and prices were astronomical

Our bus tour to the theater in LA included anall-inclusive Lawry’s signature gourmet prime rib luncheon at the historic Tam O’Shanter Inn, a cozy Tudor restaurant with old world charm. The Tam O’Shanter has been around for 90 years and is Los Angeles' oldest restaurant operated by the same family in the same location. It is quite the interesting place full of good cheer and warm hospitality that fill all the nooks and crannies almost like a old world storybook cottage. The Tam O'Shanter was one of three restaurants chosen represent Los Angeles on the Cooking Channel show “The Originals,” hosted by Emeril Lagasse. The episode was aired in May 2011 during the shows first season. The restaurant enjoyed a wonderful celebrity connection back in the 1920s because there were silent-movie studios just blocks away and directors like Mack Sennett was always filming in nearby Griffith Park. Stars made the Tam their go to place for lunch. On any day, you might see Rudolph Valentino, Fatty Arbuckle, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks and others feasting on hamburgers in full costume and makeup. In the 1940s and until his death, this was one of Walt Disney's favorite restaurants. He and his crew of animators dined so often they jokingly nicknamed the restaurant their "studio commissary." In later years, John Wayne and Casey Stengel frequented the Tam. Today it continues to cater to many sports and political notables and such stars as Tom Hanks, Dick Van Dyke and Vince Vaughn. Our tables were preset with beverages and as soon as we were seated a team of servers begin brining out the mixed green salad with chopped tomatoes and a mild vinaigrette. Then we were each queried as to how we wanted our prime rib cooked and it was soon delivered, served with mashed potatoes and gravy, Yorkshire pudding, freshly prepared horseradish, creamed spinach. Then of course it was followed by a square to strawberry shortcake. While truly delicious it was quite filling for a lunch and pre-theatre meal.

We have been going to the Tam for years and it has always been wonderful. Today, it was incredibly disappointing. All four of us ordered the prime rib, Tam cut ($47). All of our meals were cold. They took them back and brought another meal for each of us. Those were room temperature too. Service was slow and the food was not worth what we paid. Not sure we'll return.

We've been to this restaurant many times and have always enjoyed it. However tonight was very disappointing. Service was very slow and my husband had to send his prime rib back. I'm hoping this was a one-time occurrence and next visit will be as expected, wonderful.

Wonderful Scottish food where you can find fine food, wine and song if you time it right! Try the Rarebit and Shepard pie! The wait staff if top notch. They actually know proper etiquette. Which is a Lovely change of pace. We have never had trouble finding parking as they have a valet that always can find room! Go for the food and enjoy the nostalgia.

I still feel the Tam is one of the best places in LA and is an old school place almost unchanged for 90 years. Come here for the Prime Rib... expect astounding atmosphere and great service. I have flown 5000 miles to eat at Christmas here and drive 200 miles too ! They have added an outdoor patio and a patio menu for outdoor eating off a special menu ( no prime rib) Their bar is second to none for everything Into this world of timeless beauty and nostalgia steps the idiots of the LA Mayor Garcetti and his Idiot council who wrote a drastic law to force restaurants to pay much higher min wages than the rest of the state ( except for the peoples republic/asylum, of San Francisco), This Has forced restaurants like the tam to have to alter their prices and change the way they did things. Carl Marx and Bernie Sanders would be pleased. This is what happens when government tells businesses how they have to run their business. Sad Here are some changes now in effect: The free snacks at the bar......gone The carved meats at the sandwich and ale bar went from$14 to $19-21@ The included salad and condiment bar formerly included with a sandwich now is $4 extra The prime rib carved plate is $24, (prime rib, mash, corn or spinach) and only available 11-5 MF in the Bar After 5 pm and all day Sat Sun,anywhere, it goes for $38 !for 6 oz and $42 for 10 oz If I remember All Prime rib cuts have risen about $4 each Dont be surprised when you visit... I will continue to come and love each bite and second when I am here . It is worth it. By the way they have a super VIP program and specials for the members...ask to join and it will help the cost that LA has forced them to do.

Great restaurant with LOTS of history. Tons of memorabilia in the wall spanning the 95+ years this restaurant has operated. Very popular on holidays, be sure to make reservations. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly.

Hey guys, my friends and I are all big fans of Disney, so of course that meant a stop at Tam O'Shanter. Everyone in our group ordered from the sandwich stand inside at the bar, so I can't speak to anything on the menu. I got the turkey sandwich, which was very dry and bland. The mashed potatoes that I ordered with it were obviously just boxed mashed potatoes and the gravy was just okay. My friends also ordered the chili, which they loved, the Reuben, the roast beef sandwich, and the brisket sandwich. They all enjoyed their sandwiches - which makes me think their meat wasn't as dry as mine. After our meal, our server pointed out Walt's table to us and we were able to take some photos and see it up close which made the experience much cooler. I would eat here again, but I'd try something off the menu next time.

We went to the restaurant for the seasonal goose dinner and the holiday decorations and caroling. All were excellent and we will go again next year. The service was great and we were seated without a wait despite being early for our reservation.

We came to visit for the same reason as a lot of folks- we heard it was a frequent dining destination for Walt Disney. The food was excellent. We started with the shrimp cocktail (the sauce was delicious, and I personally detest cocktail sauce) and a caesar salad. I had a small bowl of macaroni and cheese as my main entree, which was the perfect amount of food. My husband ordered the prime rib, which was pretty good but not outstanding compared to other restaurants. However, the service here is the only thing holding it back from a full 4 or 5 star rating. Perhaps stereotypically of LA, the service was quite curt and dismissive. Some orders were forgotten when the dishes arrived, and my husband's salad came out with the wrong dressing. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times. Our waiter had a habit of racing past our table with a quick glance, barely stopping to listen to our requests or see if we had any issues. He literally walked away even as a member of our party asked for a drink refill, after another member had reminded him of a missing order. He seemed annoyed with us, even though we were calm about the issues. We are easy customers, and never make a fuss, so the fact that we had to ask for so much says a lot. Due to the service we experienced, we likely would not return or recommend it to others.

The restaurant is located near Lake Hollywood Park. With easy parking (paying $10), the historic establishment is located in a beautiful building with a garden. Well decorated place, with a lot of service, but little organized. Cleaning very improvable. menu of mainly meat, without any preparations that stand out. Low quality meat, poorly cooked and worse served. Exaggerated prices for the quality offered. The waitress who served us was very friendly. It is not worth it, since it is expensive and bad. Not recommended.

I've been looking for a real, British-style pub in LA for ages and my search is finally over! I've been disappointed by all the places I've tried over the years that call themselves a British pub but are lacking in an authentic pub atmosphere. But Tam O'Shanter has it! I loved this place. The atmosphere, the seating options--outdoor patio, bar-style and even sit down restaurant--the food. Only downsides are that it's a bit pricey and the service (on the restaurant side, at least) was a bit stuffy. We ordered an Arran 14 year pour and the waiter corrected our pronunciation, even though we've been to the distillery itself and were saying it the exact way they did.

The carving station is amazing. Fantastic lunch but very strange process. Seat yourself, go get your own food and somehow they know what to charge. Great food and cool atmosphere.

This was our 2nd time here, and our 1st time here for Thanksgiving. My kids and I ordered the traditional Thanksgiving dinner, my husband ordered the filet, and my brother ordered the prime rib. They were all good but not extraordinary. I love the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, and that made our visit great.

After the Rose Bowl Parade we had lunch at Tam O'Shanter. There were 37 in our party and were lead to our own room with a fireplace and sitting for everyone. The wait staff did a great job getting our drink and food orders out quickly. It was said that Walt Disney ate here whenever going over new ideas for projects he was working on. We all enjoyed our meal of prime rib, cod, turkey and a vegetable plate.

I used to go to hear the Brilliant Gypsies play here, which they did regularly. Really miss that band here. The staff are very friendly and I love the flights of beer they sell. Food is "ok". Prices a bit high for what you get.

Perfectly cooked Prime Rib and the creamed spinach was a wonderful surprise. Service was wonderful and friendly with Melissa.

I was so excited to dine at this place and I really, really wanted to love it. I saw it when driving by and it had such a fabulous vintage look. I immediately looked it up and started researching it by reading reviews. It sounded right up my alley, so we made a resie for the next night. We walked in and it was just what I expected. Great vintage decor, just like we stepped back in time. It opened in 1923, so it's got great history. A lively Scottish band played in the bar while we waited, which was quite entertaining. The lobby had quite a few historical clippings and photos on the wall which were quite informative. After a short wait, we were seated. The restaurant boasts quite a long history which includes being part of the Lawry's Prime Rib family. We love prime rib so at least two of us ordered it. What a terrible disappointment! It quite possibly might have been the worst prime rib I have ever had. I was devastated. I really, really wanted to love it and i just couldn't. It was a flavorless, tough hunk of meat. I have had tons of great prime rib in my life and this did not even begin to compare. I ate a few bites and that was the best I could do. It was a $250 meal for the 3 of us and it was very disappointing. We really thought that with the Lawry's heritage that this would be a great place to order prime rib, but that was not the case. We did not complain, we rarely do, but it was odd that the waiter never inquired as to why we did not eat our meal. Maybe it was just an off night, but I think you have to try hard to serve a meal this bad. I'm so sad to say that we won't need to go back. The place is darling and has such a great vintage vibe which we love. A true piece of history, but a huge disappointment!

Walk in Walt's footsteps and those of his most trusted animators. Tam O'Shanter was a favorite lunch spot back in the day, and some say the inspiration for the Seven Dwarfs' cottage in the animated Snow White classic. It's the original Lawry's and the menu still holds up. The Toad-in-the-Hole is hearty and chock full of roast beef...a Scottish Highland favorite and faithful to the home country. The Wall of Scotch is also something to appreciate. A seat by the fireplace and a chocolate souffle' to top off the evening can't be beat.

We came across this by accident and decided to give it a try while on vacation in California. The prime rib is outstanding. For appetizers we had deviled eggs and haggis. None of us had eaten haggis before and we decided to be adventurous. It wasn’t what we were expecting...if you like to be adventurous go for it. Most of our family actually liked it. Two of us got Toad in a Hole and really liked it. Our waitress did a really nice job and the other staff was really attentive. The gentleman who bussed our table (his nickname was Nacho)was very funny and made us feel right at home. This is a great restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.

VERY impressive building and décor. Really feels like something that was lifted out of Scotland and placed in L.A. The food is tasty and unique, and the service has been utterly superb every time I have been there. Even during a area power outage, these folks (from management on down) were utterly un-flappable. A true gem.

We came here for a family function today. Celebrate the parents 67th Wedding Anniversary and my belated birthday. My parents have been eating here since before they were married. The building itself is worth seeing by itself. The service is very good. The food is very good! Sometimes with the relatives it is a hard sell to go out to eat. This time it was an easy sell! We all had nice stories to tell about eating here over the years. We will return again.

We enjoy getting together for birthdays, anniversaries, and retirement celebrations! It has a wonderful ambience with delicious food. It's consistent in it's quality of food and wait service is excellent!

This place has been around for decades and I had not tried it before this weekend. It was a Saturday around 1PM and the parking lot was jammed! Finally found a slot though. The restaurant itself was extremely crowed and we could have put our name on a list for the main dining room or sit in the bar area. Luckily the bar area has several booths included with their small raised tables. We grabbed the last one. The food was pretty good. However, I have one BIG complaint, the menu listed Cold Smoked Scottish salmon served with a sauce and sourdough bread. We ordered one to split. It turned out to be several hunks of COOKED salmon cubes that looked like it came right out of a can, like tuna! I did not send it back, it was a birthday meal and I didn't want to cause a scene. Other than that it was a pretty okay place. In that Lawry's has a connection, the steaks and other meats were pretty luscious. I'd go again and ask for REAL smoked salmon this time

Tam O'Shanter Restaurant has been around since 1922. My wife and I have dined there many times in the past. The ambiance is wonderful , especially in Christmas season when carolers go from table to table singing Christmas songs. However the menu is very limited with only a few different entrees to choose from. Most guests go there to eat the Prime Rib, but few other choices are available. In addition , it has gotten very expensive in the past few years with most entrees almost doubling in price from what they were just 5 years ago.

An intriguing Scottish restaurant with historical significance and great food. As the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles still under the same management as it was in 1922, the ambience is unique and very enchanting. Animator Walt Disney himself used to sit at Table 31 almost a century ago, the interior even inspiring his depiction of the cottage in Snow White! You'll recognize it instantly. I'm a sucker for a good French onion soup, and this one definitely passes the test, with dark bread soaked in the soup and topped with a generous portion of cheese. The mac and cheese has a nice, cheesy, slightly gritty sauce, but the noodles were a tad "grocery store pasta" in their simplicity. The key lime pie isn't what you expect. Instead of a pie, you get a whip-cream-topped lime dessert in a small ramekin with a graham cracker base that is absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommended for you citrus fans! The steaks are also fabulous here, and although I'm an experienced world traveler who loves to sample local cuisine, I am NOT brave enough to try haggis. You should definitely try this restaurant if you're in the area.

I belive the Tam O' Shanter Inn restaurant which was established in 1922 is the oldest restautant in Los Angeles owned by the same family in the same location. So, there is a lot of history here, particularly with Walt Disney. The ambiance is quaint and homey, which is just the opposite of its sister restaurant, Lawry's located in Beverly Hills. Just like Lawry's, Tam O' Shanter's specialty is prime rib. Besides the ambiance, the main difference between Lawry's and Tam O' Shanter is the price. Expect to pay between 8% - 13% less at Tam O' Shanter. In my opinion, I do think the prime rib quality is slightly better at Lawry's, but you definitely won't be disappointed with the prime rib at Tam O' Shanter. The temperature of the creamed corn and the creamed spinach was only mildly warm. One order of the Tam O'Shanter Cut that was ordered medium rare and it had to be sent back, but it was brought back an overcooked medium. The service staff is friendly and attentive to your anticipated needs. From a prior visit during the Christmas holidays, they traditionally spruce up the restaurant decor with the Christmas spirit and entertain you with Christmas carolers. I would especially recommend dining at Tam O' Shanter in December.

Our evening spent at Tam O'Shanter was a memorable one due to our wonderful waitress and the fine food. Diane, our waitress, was very pleasant, extremely friendly, and attentive to our every need. And then the food... As usual, my wife's Wild Scottish Salmon was savory, and for the first time I tried one of the specials - braised short ribs. Wow! They melted in my mouth with their delectable taste. This is the restaurant's 90th year and we started before their 75th celebration. We will return again and again.

This is a neighborhood staple for decades and is certainly worth a visit. The atmosphere is reminiscent of England and service was friendly and efficient for a large party. Food was ok but not outstanding.

We made reservations here for dinner to celebrate my son's 16th birthday. What can I say... service was par excellence. starting from the valet service, they were very friendly and attentive. Entrance of the restaurant gives you a European era vibe from the red phone booth to the architecture of the building. . We came on a Thursday evening so there was a band playing Celtic music. The place was festive as the guests sang to the tune of the music. The ambiance was interesting, full of Scottish Vibe knick knacks and a wide array of whiskey bottles . Our server Diane and Nacho we're so attentive she even gave us a brief history of how the restaurant came about and some interesting facts, like where Walt Disney and John Wayne used to seat. This place definitely has a lot of history. Food was pricey but was good. we ordered the prime rib Tams cut, the Toad Bowl, and Tam Burger they also have kids menu and oh my the portions were huge! We tried their Scottish beer and we also ordered the dates wrapped with bacon, (Devil on horseback) and the Scotch rarebit - cheese fondue. We got the delectable souffle which you need to order at least half an hour before because it takes time to prepare. Overall a very interesting and wonderful experience! Definitely a place to celebrate special occasions.

Because my friend has been to this restaurant and had many excellent experiences, I expected to have a similar experience. He ordered a blackened Prime Rib which he has ordered many times before. My salad came and I finished it. Then our dinners came. Mine was ok, nothing special. His came but was NOT blackened! He sent it back to be blackened and it came back less than satisfactory. They, then, said they would get the manager to come out which he did. The manager THEN told my friend that they no longer serve "Blackened Prime Rib" and don't even carry the spices for it anymore. We were both shocked that they didn't tell us this when we ordered, or when we sent back the prime rib the first time!!! No real apology for the error. No time to order another meal. I was already finished with mine!!! WE WILL NOT GO BACK!

This was dinner for my wife’s birthday and I picked a perfect place. Walking in is like walking into a grand old English manner, rich yet warm and inviting. Service was very friendly and super attentive. The staff wore masked which made us feel even more comfortable. My wife and I both ordered the Wee Green Salad (Spring Mix greens with cherry tomatoes and shaved Carrots stripes) and California Cut 6 oz Prime Rib. My wife had hers medium with Lawry’s creamed corn, mashed potatoes with gravy and Yorkshire pudding. I had medium rare (perfect) with Lawry’s creamed spinach, mashed potatoes (gravy on the side) and Yorkshire pudding. The Prime Rib was cooked perfectly and very tender. The creamed corn and spinach was seasoned with just the right mix of seasoning unlike you find at other restaurants where they are rather bland. The Yorkshire pudding was better than what we had in London. We topped off the evening with Fire Chocolate Souflee, a warm moist souflee with fine crust top and whipped cream on the side and they brought a small extra dessert for my wife’s birthday. This was one of those few time that everything was just right.

Stopped in just on the cusp between brunch and the dinner menu, so we didn't see the dinner menu. The rueben paninni was excellent, not too salty. Bottomless champagne was not too sweet, maybe a little TOO tasty. Good burger and fries. Warm, friendly service, cutest little waitress. Would totally come here again, next time we are in town!

Unique, especially the ambiance and decorations. A tad expensive. If your ancestors are from Europe, especially Ireland or Scotland, you may find your family's coat of arms or kilt pattern decorating the walls.

I am a huge Lawry's Prime Rib fan. I've gone to the Beverly Hills and Las Vegas locations. I love this place because the food is excellent, the prime rib, creamed corn, yummy English Pudding- all of it. Well, The Tam O'Shanter (TOS) is part of the Landry's group as is Lawry's. TOS serves the same exact menu of prime rib, English pudding bread, creamed corn (or spinach). So here's the difference,,,,, if you want a fine dining experience, get dressed up and make it a formal special evening I'd say trek over to Beverly Hills and go to Lawry's. If you want to keep your jeans on, stay out of the Beverly Hills traffic and kick back with a brew or two and enjoy the same type of meal, then go to Tam O'Shanters. Also, TOS has other items on the menu such as fish and chips and burgers which Lawrys does not serve, in addition they are open for lunch and do serve the prime rib at lunch time. So either location will give you a great meal, just need to choose your atmosphere.

Very nostalgic and these days now rare English beef eater pub place. Lost of Disney history associated with this place. Not the same as pre-Covid but what is. Nice outdoor dining area. Good selection of Brit Brews and whiskeys along with the common stuff. Sandwiches with their signature peanut coleslaw to die for.

Being from Yorkshire, I can tell you the Yorkshire puddings served here are pretty decent. Food overall was quite tasty. It's a nice little English pub themed restaurant which contains a bit of Disney history.

Food was fantastic!. Restaurant is 100 years old, still run by family. The staff are very friendly. Feels like being in Scotland again.

Good food, interesting atmosphere. A different take on a similar restaurant. (Lawry’s) Prime Rib and good sides. Not a huge menu, but quality over quantity every time. Plenty of spirits.

This restaurant serves up great food in a frozen-in-time space that is truly unique. Legend has it that Walt Disney took inspiration from the design of this restaurant, and when you walk into the main dining room you immediately see that. I thought "This looks like something Disney would have designed," but it turns out the restaurant was there first. There is also the option of eating off the less expensive pub menu in the front bar area. There is a meet caring station there that serves up the best prime rib sandwich you will ever have. The cocktail options are extensive, with a focus on various scotches and bourbons.

Great steaks! Plenty of valet parking or you can park for free on side streets. Could be a little more Scottish menu wise. Smoked haggis? Pork pie?

We want to see the plaque on Walt's Table 31 we told existed, there was somewhere else sitting there. We were sad about that but this place looked like it was out of the movie BRAVE. I kinda find it funny that most of the people I talked here go here because of Walt Disney and some of the people find it silly thats why others come. I would think as a restaurant anyway to get people in the door even after so many years after Walt Disney they would embrace it. Some many things looked good we decided to do an assortment of appetizers and the Chocolate Soufflé. The only appetizer that wasn't our favorite was the green beans. We loved the sautéed mushrooms and mac and cheese. The dates filled with cream cheese where nice and it was fun to try something unique. The restrooms where cleaned, most parking was valet here. They did have some construction going on so the nice building was hard to see. The waiters and waitress where dressed in period garb. Very interesting and lovely place just wish they didnt find it odd and silly to be there because of Walt Disney. I would still go here again.

My husband, son and i went for dinner last night. the theme is old fashioned british/scottish pub so set your expectations. there are several dining rooms with varying degrees of charm. the outside seating is quite simple and lacks charm so we sat inside. i checked out the rooms and wanted the very back room with i think is the nosiest but was told we couldn't sit there even though it looked like there were plenty of tables for 3. anyways, we were sat in a smaller room which was fairly nice. ambience- cosy and old world. sort of like being on a harry potter set. nice bar in front. wait staff in varying degrees of garb. i saw one server who looked like a patron. a bit odd. lots and lots of history intertwined with walt disney and the old van de kamp family with tons of interesting artifacts and pictures on wall and ceiling space.. service- very pleasant. it looked like the wait staff were professional long timers so that's always pleasant. we did order a beer which never came though. food- solid food at slightly high prices. we had the rarebit, wedge salads, prime rib, filet mignon and short ribs. everything was tasty and nicely done, as ordered. this is stick to your ribs pub food. i don't think i like rarebit but it was interesting to try it. don't expect to be wowed with innovative cuisine. the chocolate souffle had to be ordered early because it takes 30 min. it was quite good- not too sweet. this is similar food to lawry's which is the affiliated restaurant. i was a bit disappointed they don't have scotch eggs on their menu cuz i wanted to try that. overall- a nice event place for special dinners or family reunions. prices are a bit high but not terrible, and the food is quite decent. we had a very nice dinner and the decor made it memorable. try to get a table in the back room for the best ambience.

I went to Tam O'Shanter with my husband and his parents on a recent trip to LA, and everyone left happy. My in-laws were ready to book a reservation for dinner the following night! While most of the food is heavier pub fare, my mother-in-law had salmon that looked fresh and light; my father-in-law had fish and chips, which he said were excellent. I had the prime rib- which was superb- and my vegetarian husband had soup and a couple of side dishes, which the restaurant presented grouped on a beautiful wooden cutting board to make it feel more like a "meal," and were happy to modify slightly to suit his dietary restrictions. They also had a vegetarian option on the menu, which can be unusual for this type of restaurant, he just chose to try something different. Portions were hefty, (I'm not sure any of us finished our food), and our waitress was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastically sharing some of the restaurant's history with us. This was a really fun way to experience a little bit of Los Angeles history, and I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves history, themed architecture, or British/ Scottish style pub fare.

If you have even a wee bit of Scottish, you will love this place. And the best part is that the food is better than in Scotland! Besides the good food & great service, this has been a part of Hollywood for decades. There is even the special table that Walt Disney always sat at. The short ribs I had were perfect. They didn't have any haggis the night we were here so I couldn't compare to what is served in Scotland.

We loved our experience. The waiter gave us so much history about the place that has been here since 1922. We sat at table 15 which was John Wayne's table and he told us about Walt Disney who was also a regular. We loved our prime rib and lobster the ambience and the waiter was awesome. It was our anniversary and they gave us a complimentary strawberry trifle dessert. Great experience!!

Excellent prime rib and trimmings though not much flexibility in the menu. Traditional Scottish ambience in an historic building that is quite old. Good service, but we felt rushed because of dining time slots for this busy restaurant. So it was good, but not leisurely as one would like dinner to be.

Recently, I dined at Tam O'Shanter to celebrate an occasion with my family. Several of us ordered end cuts of prime rib. When the entries were brought out, one of them was so dried out as to be unedible. We returned that entree with sides to the waiter and asked for a replacement. Shortly after, the waiter comes back to our table with the chef who proclaims that he's not providing another end cut for my wife, and berated her as someone who doesn't know anything about how Prime Rib is prepared. Never mind that we have eaten hundreds of Prime Rib here in the U.S, Europe and Puerto Rico. We called over the manager and relayed what had transpired. The manager, (I believe his name is McNally) apologized and said he would comp one entree. Further, when we were served our desserts, the table was not cleared of crumbs or a piece of meat that had fallen on the table. The final outrage was when the bill came, the only entree that had been removed was the one that was returned uneaten. We called the manager back, thinking this was an oversight. He said, no, that's all you are getting. I've been eating at restaurants for close to 45 years and this is only the second time I walked out without leaving a tip. Needless to say, I will never return. These are the facts as they happened. You make your own decision.

This place has a really cool vibe! Don’t sit outside you need to experience the legendary oldest OG Hollywood restaurant. Get reservations in advance for inside. Food was really good and again the atmosphere is so cool. It was holiday decorated and done up nice. You can tell like all restaurants these days they are short staffed but not dinging them for that it’s all restaurants all over the country. Also they need to remember to add the candle in desert when requested 3 times but they still forgot. Accidents happen and life’s too short. They eventually brought a candle lit with something. Overall we really recommend this place. Google the history here. Also if you’re a Walt Disney fan this was his favorite place to eat.

We went to dinner the other night after a Scotch Malt Whisky Society event. This is a genuine Scottish pub, and is a historic site in Los Angeles, being the oldest continuously operating pub on the West Coast. The decor has a wonderful old wood feel and plenty of historic artifacts and pictures on the wall to wander around and appreciate. They also have a great curated whisky bar. Walt Disney had a favorite table for lunch here, which you can find under the Imagineers of the Tam poster. The food is traditional English pub fare, and is portioned well and very tasty. We tried the prime rib, filet mignon steak and the Toad in a Hole. The latter is a Yorkshire pudding baked with filet mignon cubes, vegetables, onions and mushrooms with gravy. All were very tasty! Service is spot on, and the whole package makes for a fun evening.

Terrific food and spirits. They serve the best steaks and fish! The side dishes are exceptional, very tasty! The service is above and beyond. Anyone with a taste for Scotch? The best is served here!

Went there for Father's Day. Everyone had different meals and all of it was wonderful. The service was attentive. Look forward to returning in the future.

hadnt been here in years, Have not had such a tender cut of prime rib in a long time. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Service was fast and servers were very friendly.

We went to Tam O’ Shanter for an 80th birthday dinner. There were 10 of us, all ages and levels of mobility. To our surprise, and dismay, the parking lot was under construction and was full. There were no provisions for handicapped parking. We were told to park in the street. The sidewalks were not even, it was raining, and the parking was quite far for one with mobility issues. In addition, the bottom of the driveway was full of puddles. When reservations were made there was no notification of the situation. When we told the hostess about this she said she would get a manager. The manager showed no concern for what we went through. He could care less, or that’s how he appeared. The food was fairly good. That’s why we chose to celebrate there in the first place. When we left it was raining hard. Our friend would have fallen because the ground was uneven and the area was dark. Luckily another friend grabbed her. All had to walk down the driveway into a street full of puddles. All of the valets that were standing around could have helped patrons to their cars. That would have shown caring by the management. Poor planning!

One of my fave spots! Delicious Prime Rib! Yess!! Great for special occasions. A fave spot of Walt Disney too.

The open around 11am and we arrived . Quickly seated, menu give drink order taken and supplied. This place is part of the Lawry's chain and holds their standards. Food was served hot and fresh. Got full quickly. Will return

Was a good birthday lunch for my prime rib loving Montana wife. Can never go wrong with meat and potatoes where she is concerned. Server was sweet but either overloaded or not totally engaged. Minor mess up of our order. Forgot it was a birthday lunch. Meal was good all around and copious quantities! But not killer. Great environment though and cool to see the grand daddy of the prime rib restaurant wave.

We enjoyed this restaurant, the food was excellent, but the service was below average. Management should make some changes in personnel, in order to take this wonderful place to the five star level that it deserves.

I haven’t seen my artist friend Mickey in a while and I was thinking about heading to Santa Monica but L.A. freeways were a mess so we went up to the Tam O’Shanter. Some nice changes include an outdoor patio and new landscaping. Inside hasn’t changed since Walt Disney used to eat lunch there daily. The lunch room was busy and the menu has olde tyme items like Scotch Rarebit which was delicious. We put ourselves in the hands of Jerry who for 39 years has made sandwiches to order. Roast beef on an onion Kaiser roll au jus with salad and fixings including-get this-fresh horseradish and home-made beets. All we needed was a pint of Belhaven Scottish ale and they have it on tap. Many of the restaurants of this era are a memory, the Tam O’Shanter is still around and that’s memorable.

We were told that Walt Disney was a lunch regular in this charming restaurant that originally opened in 1922. My daughter enjoyed her Prime Rib Dinner, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Creamed Spinach Yorkshire Pudding. Service was friendly and outstanding. I definitely plan on returning.

I've been meaning to come to the Tam O'Shanter for years and finally made it! This is the type of quirky place that you just have to give 5 stars just due to the fact that there's nothing else like it! You have to visit at least once! I would recommend the room with the flags! The food was good, but I will say it's for sure overpriced for what you get... but I think that's just part of the price you pay for the experience. It made me want to give this a 4 star review... but when you factor in the experience... I think you have to give it five. It's ALL about ambiance here. The pictures do it more justice than anything else. Also... they have a GIANT collection of rare bourbons, scotches, and other types of drinks... so much so that there is a QR code because you can't possibly fit it all into a menu (I think they said they have 700 rare bourbons)!!! We enjoyed the Prime Rib, which again... was good but maybe a bit disappointing for the price. I've had a lot better for a lot less. The creamed spinach were fantastic and actually the garden veggie blend was REALLY good! The service was really good too. Our waitress was great and we were encouraged to walk around and take in the different rooms. You can't leave LA without experiencing Tam O'Shanter at least once! Places like this have been dying away and I hope it has a long life ahead of it!

Noelle, Thank you so very much for the fabulous job you, Mark (our server) and the busboys did for our corporate event. The food was fantastic and the service, set up was very professional. Our guests are still raving about the wonderful evening. Thank you for all of your hard work and fantastic meal."

Cozy, Classy, Pub atmosphere serving Prime Rib and all the trimmings for more than 50 years in the same location. Valet parking. Bar serves a vast selection of scotch. Interesting appetizers, nice choice of salads and other starters. Menu has something for every taste. Excellent, friendly service. Yummy deserts. Wholesome environment.

I do not eat red meat very frequently, but when my sister treated me to a prime rib dinner at Tam O'Shanter, I enjoyed it tremendously. The cut was fresh, delicious and juicy. The mash potato and gravy and shepard pie complement the prime rib nicely.

Food is outstanding! You name the drink and it’s there. Atmosphere is great and the service is tops. We went as a family so many different meals were ordered. The Prime Rib melts in your mouth. Fish and Chips is a great choice. Would recommend this for anyone wanting an outstanding dining experience.

Just Stopped In For A Cocktail What a SHOCK! $24.00 for a small Grey Goose martini! Been "around the block" nationwide and internationally and this was a first! Don't go here for cocktails now! Used to be a very nice upscale place for fine spirits but the charging is out of line! Go to Morton's or any other steakhouse for a great martini, you'll be happier with nicer atmosphere!

We were there with a large group tour of Disney fans who wanted to see where Walt lunched with colleagues. Hope it was better when Walt was hanging out there! The service was poor--rushed, inattentive, barely acknowledging us as they dropped off the food. We never saw the server after that since it was a group bill. The food was just OK including their prime rib that was a bit tasteless. The salad had no dressing & when asked for it, never materialized. The ambiance is quaint, if a bit run down. Unless you are a hard core Walt Disney fan, avoid this place.

In 1915, the Frank and Van de Kamp families opened a tiny potato chip store in downtown Los Angeles. Its success led to the creation of the Tam O'Shanter where they still make potato chips every day! "The Tam" has been operating at this location on Los Feliz since 1922. Founded by Lawrence Frank who went on to establish Lawry’s. Visit famous Table #31 where Walt Disney and his animation artists often dined--it's next to the fireplace in the main dining room. This is a wonderful fine dining restaurant you won't soon forget.

We had wonderful service amid still restrictive Covid protocols. Parking adjacent to building and safe. Did not have the prime rib, but my wife had a great filet, our host had a great brisket, and I had a pork roast sandwich. Washed down with some superb Scottish ale. Oldest family owned business in LA. Can just feel the history. The only negative is that homeless abound anywhere near a restaurant. One poor guy was passed out in the sidewalk by this restaurant. Okay, enough of that, we enjoyed it!!

We had a delicious lunch at this fabulous restaurant. Great atmosphere, pleasant and helpful servers and delicious food with a good variety. Highly recommended.

We went to the TAM O'Shanter Restaurant and Bar in Los Angeles, and had a good time. The Restaurant was established in 1922 and has grown to a nice restaurant. TAM O'Shanter has a very nice outside patio seating area with comfortable chairs and couches in a area that has a fireplace. Inside the restaurant it has a very nice Bar area and small seating area for food. The TAM O'Shanter is owned by the same company as Lawry's Steak Houses. Their prices are a little pricey and the restaurant is way to dark everywhere for me. All & All unique and good.

I had a prime rib sandwich with creamed spinach. Everything was delicious, especially the spinach. I also had the scotch rarebit and it was very spicy. Our server was Sarah and she was great.

The Tam, as its known to many who frequent this Los Angeles landmark. We’ve been coming here for a few years now and it’s almost always been an amazing experience. We’ve taken family here who’ve lived in the LA area for decades, but have never had the pleasure of dining at the Tam. At lunch you can get a Prime Rib sandwich served up quick if you don’t want a huge meal. At dinner I’d highly recommend the Prime Rib as it is outstanding. The inside looks like an old Scottish pub, and the servers dress the part as well, it’s an experience. The price point is on the higher end, but I would say it’s definitely worth it. Most of the time I get the Prince Charlie Cut (their biggest cut) to myself and I need to be wheeled out (I say jokingly) because I’m so stuffed. I’d definitely recommend the Tam for couple, families, or even eating by yourself it’s an overall great restaurant.

Delicious food, always beautifully prepared, well served. Servers are Professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, just plain nice. Our favorite place for special occasions, but love to go ANY time.

I had the brisket platter; another had the corned beef platter and another in our party had the burnt ends. All three of us enjoyed our meals immensely. The place has great ambiance and history (a favorite of Walt Disney). I would return next time I visit LS.

Was excited to go to this iconic restaurant but was disappointed in the food. My $40 prime rib was a small cut. Ordered medium rare and it came out RARE.... couldn't even cut it with a knife.... had to pull it apart. The Yorkshire pudding was dry. The creamed spinach was awesome.... but didn't get s very big serving. There are better places in town for food and ambience.

Went last night for birthday dinner. We have been here, lunch.dinner 27 years as nearby residents. I had prime rib, wife had filet. Server Sarah, was exceptional. Cesar salad good. My prime rib(first plate, requested medium rare) arrive cut uneven (thick to thin) arrived VERY RARE, returned to refire one cut. Wifes'filet same goof. another lady brings refire, center medium, thick part rare, still bad, call server over-manger we are informed. I show him uneven cook(not polite), Brings new EVEN cut well done, Filet also correct. "Manager" comes back shortly, stands away " Well, how is it now?" Manager needs to go back to server status. Chocolate souffle is great-- I see more and more bad reviews!!!

Walk into the Tam O'Shanter and step into an atmosphere time warp. Incredible woodwork interior and interesting layout. Lots of elderly, colorful locals seem to always be there. I go to lunch here on occasion with a business colleague who loves this place for the atmosphere. He raves about how wonderful the food is. I appreciate the atmosphere and enjoy the food. The lunch menu selection is large and the portions are big. Always an enjoyable visit to Tam O'Shanter.

I have been to the Tam on many occasions and never once did I have bad service of a bad meal. This is a restaurant that Walt Disney ate at many times and there is a special booth dedicated in his honor.

The Tam O'Shanter is a Los Angeles institution. Although I was a resident of LA for nearly 30 years, I didn't experience the place until my waning days in the city. I remember in the 1990s I had a landlord who lived in Loz Feliz and she had been going to the Tam O'Shanter for decades -- always telling me I should go and experience it. Well, she was right. It was a lot of fun, and the food was surprisingly good. I especially enjoy the charcuterie platter.

My wife and I have been checking off the list of classic Los Angeles restaurants that are the kind that are unfortunately dying out. Tam O’ Shanter is one of them and is the oldest family restaurant in LA. It’s the place that Walt Disney and his imagineers often dined. In fact, the small corner table has the plaque that commemorates this. The atmosphere is definitely vet unique and try’s to do everything to mimic a old English or Scottish tavern. Very cool. Kinda dark but you wouldn’t ever think you’re in LA. There are two dining options for lunch - the main dining room or the sandwich carving station in the bar area. We did the carving station and it was great.

We were visited from the UK, the bar was at the end of the street where we were renting a property so we thought it would be nice to visit the local pub. We have been in California for 16 days in various cities, visited loads of restaurants and bars, this is the only one that we came across that we could not wait to leave. The old man serving behind the bar was rude and unfriendly. Due to the bad service we did not go back to try the food.

They had a special fixed price menu for Dine LA Week. We had the Duck Confit which we had last year and loved. It was served over green lentils, pearl onions, and topped with Peach slices. I wish they had this dish all the time, but the manager explained they cost was high and not enough folks like duck.

Very good Prime Rib and mashed potatoes! Great selection of Irish whiskeys and great desserts ! Wonderful place to go after Sunday church for a late lunch!

I love a good prime rib and, having English heritage, miss a good Yorkshire pudding. I ordered their Tam O'Shanter cut, which is thick with a bone. Comes with the aforementioned Yorkshire pudding, mashed potatoes with gravy, and either creamed spinach or creamed corn. I chose the latter and it was one of the best creamed corn I have ever had. A bit pricey, but a unique location and, if you're a first timer, they are glad to show you around and give you a bit of history.

We went with family over the holiday and the live entrtainment was wonderful. We went to the restaurant during the holidays and the Dicken's period carollers were great. The food was good. The service was poor the first time but good the 2nd.

I have visited this restaurant for over 65 years.I Ilived close by it till the Korean war grabbed me and after 2 years in service I decided to move to midwest. But almost each time I visited Southern Calif I managed to visit the Tam.

Great service and fun décor, tasty food, with a couple of disappointments. I spent the first 30 years of my life in Los Angeles, yet I'd never been to the iconic Tam O'Shanter in the Atwater Village neighborhood. After a family hike in Griffith Park, today, we decided to go there, my motivation being that I had recently learned that Lawry's, Tam O'Shanter's parent company, had acquired the recipe for the legendary C.C. Brown's hot fudge sundae, the best sundae ever, that I enjoyed at the historic Hollywood Boulevard location. The restaurant was everything old-school ("monumental," as it was declared on its 75th anniversary) and faux Scottish one could hope for. The service was absolutely outstanding. The sundae - big enough for the three of us to share - was a disappointment. The fudge sauce, served appropriately in a separate container, was more akin to Hershey's chocolate sauce than to the dense, grainy C.C. Brown's that I remember. The whipped cream seemed to come from a can, unlike the thick, buttery whipped cream I remember from Hollywood Boulevard. It was a good hot fudge sundae, but just did not seem like a Brown's sundae. Oh, and the menu touts freshly made-in-house potato chips. We anticipated them hot out of the oil. Instead, they must have been made in the morning, and packaged in bags that sit on the bar. I would not order a $3.00 bag of chips, again. Vegetarians can get a few good items here. I would not recommend it for vegans.

As of 3/10/22, this location was still checking vaccination cards. Outside seating is available for those that do not have proof. Visiting from out of town so this was a random shot. The only parking available is valet, otherwise, there is street parking in the neighborhood, as far as what I saw. The atmosphere was really nice. Good size drink menu with lots of options. The Fish and Chips were delicious and the Prime Rib, their big seller was awesome. For dessert, try the Creme Brulee. Yum. Lastly, the pricing was not outrageous as I expected. Worth a visit.

We returned to have a wonderful dinner at Tam O'Shanter in Los Angeles. I enjoyed salmon. My husband enjoyed his beef roast. Service was very good. The place was nicely decorated for the holiday season.

Want a prime rib, fresh roasted turkey, pastrami, roast pork or sliced beef well this is the place for a mid-range Sammy. Included homemade coleslaw, potato salad, roasted beets, pickles and a variety of spreads. Only served in the bar area. Happy Hour starts at 4.

I heard that it's specialty is prime rib so I order the house special. The sides were small, so was the cut of meat. The sides were tasty but the prime rib was a little tough and not at all special. The place is nice and our waitress was very pleasant, but I won't be going back.

The inside of the pub is spectacular and also the food is so good, the packed homemade crisps amazing and it’s the pub where Walt Disney used to go with his animators the table is still there with the drawings on. It’s wonderful and the staff is so kind and helpful. It’s a pub with a soul.

The menu is very hit-and-miss at this restaurant. Some of the entrees were filling and appealing, but some are not. Especially disappointing was the Strawberry Trifle dessert that contained literally two small strawberries in a wine glass full of whipped cream. Just order a glass of whipped cream - that would be nearly the same thing. We decided on this place based on the online reviews and its history. It is charming to look at inside, but an experienced eye can also tell that putting a plaid fabric swatch in a picture frame and calling that wall decor is a lazy way to decorate. But that is literally the art by some tables: fabric swatches in picture frames. Overall, this was a disappointing dinner. Might be a good place to grab a sandwich or salad, but I would have to come back for lunch and find out. Also, our waitress was pretty bad. She was not attentive and when I asked about one item on the menu, she didn't want to find the answer to my question and stalled me. Hoping I would change my mind, I guess?

We usually eat at the bar. Bartenders are awesome, friendly and provide great service. The carvery is right next to it, order and go get your meat! ask the bartender to suggest something for you. The appetizers are yum. usually crowded but we have always managed to get seats. ladies there are hooks under the bar for your bag. We also have usually been able to find street parking, not sure if they charge to park in their lot or not.

As a prime rib aficionado, I was so excited when I ordered an $80 bottle of wine and my prime rib, grilled to medium. The chef REFUSED to grill my prime rib so that it was medium, and had the poor waiter bring it rare to me. I sent it back requesting it be cooked to my ordered temperature. Then a manager came and suggested I come back another time and maybe they would serve me the way I wanted. Unbelievable! I was so angry, and with no explanation for why they would not serve my food the way I wanted it, or why the chef thought he had the right to dictate how rare my meat was cooked. They still charged me for the wine, which I took home on an empty stomach. I will never return.

Really enjoyed the food. They have a counter you can walk up to inside the restaurant and order prime rib that's cut right in front of you. Ask for the size you want and if you want blood running or not!! Mine was delicious. Others in our group had the sandwiches and they do offer sandwiches other than prime. Didn't really look at the lunch menu because the prime was was highly recommended and it was really good. Received spinach, mashed potatoes and corn with my meal. The bread on the table was also very good. Service was very friendly, but the price wasn't. Way too expensive for lunch, but I should have looked at the menu.

We stopped by for a late lunch around 3 p.m. The only choice was to sit in the Sandwich Bar area (dining room not open until later for dinner). We both had prime rib sandwiches. The amount of meat was generous, cooked just right, juicy and flavorful. The salad bar that accompanied the sandwiches was so so. You have to like either coleslaw or potato salad (no green salad available).

It had been many years since my friend and I had been to this wonderful restaurant, filled to the brim with character and happy, attentive employees. Eileen was our server in the pub, where we had chosen to sit so we could enjoy the live music. In a word, she was OUTSTANDING! It was an extremely fun and pleasant local band with an Irish twist called Whiskey Sunday. A good time was had by all! I highly recommend the fish and chips as it was some of the best I have ever had, but we ordered quite a few things and everything was delicious. Try the blueberry cocktail😉 HIGHLY RECOMMEND

This is one of the worst service experiences we have had ever in any restaurant. Shame on Tam O’Shanter, and shame on Lawry’s for maintaining their association with this place. We had a reservation for 5 at 11:30 am. Three of us arrived at 11:15 and were asked to wait till our party was complete. They seated us in the wait area next to the men’s room, which wreaked of urine. After 30 mins, we asked to be seated so we could at least get a drink. The young hostess made us wait some more. So we could not even get water for our mother who is 82 years old. Totally tactless. After we were finally seated at 12 noon, and the rest of our party arrived (LA traffic), I had lost my appetite. I told the waiter we were totally frustrated and he acted like he could care less. I mentioned why I did not want to order anything because of how rudely we were treated. His reply was, “That’s fine.” Excuse me? That’s not fine -- You may have one less item to write down on the order, but there was no apology, no expression of sympathy. When I complained to the manager about this, he had no reaction either. Did not bother ot apologize, offer a discount, or offer us drinks. This is simply poor management skills and a total lack of customer service or business savvy. Completely unbecoming of any staff associated with the Lawry group. As for the food, my wife ordered steak and eggs. The steak was chewy, full of gristle. A disgrace to Lawry’s reputation. The eggs were overcooked. Our mother’s fish and chips stank – obviously stale frozen fish. The eggs benedict another in our party ordered was also overcooked. Unimpressive. Our meal still came to $110 for 5 people, without drinks. Never again. Lawry’s should remove Tam O’Shanter from its list of retaurants. They’re a stain on the name. Should be called Tam O’Shamer.

This has been one of our favorites restaurants for many years. This time we went to celebrate my birthday. I like my food hot but they were not able to serve my prime rib dinner to my liking. Our waiter (Mark) wrote my request down on the order but the meal was barely warm. Even the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were room temperature. While the food tasted good, room temperature food is unacceptable. Mark gave us a complementary dessert since my dinner was subpar. Sadly, we probably will not return

We love Lawry's, so thought we'd give her sister restaurant a try. Friendly, expedient service and excellent prime rib dinner, as expected. Nice patio dining experience. Good alternative if you want the Lawry's food without the dress-up experience of Beverly Hills.

Tam O'Shanter has been a favorite place to dine with my friends. It is owned by Lawry's. He decor is classic cozy English. The food is delicious. Their specialty is prime rib, but they have fish dishes also. Desserts are wonderful. Our favorite to share is the hot fudge sundae. The service is excellent. You are never rushed and you are treated like royalty. They have valet parking for a fee, or you can park on the street. Prices are in the $30-40 range for main course.

We have actually been going to this restaurant for years, but I don't remember reviewing it. This time I am putting in my review because we had an excellent meal, with great service. Our server, Shaun (or maybe Sean), was very attentive to our needs and very personable. I believe when eating a nice dinner out, it adds so much to have the right server. We were given a nice private corner table. Of course, my husband and I both had the prime rib with yorkshire pudding that this restaurant is famous for. It did not disappoint. The wedge salad before dinner was also excellent. Our server overheard us discussing the welsh rarebit appetizer on the menu, so he was quick to give us a sampling of the sauce with their delicious bread. Very yummy! Their gin martini is also excellent.

This place epitomizes comfort in every way. Excellent food and great service. Probably the best Prime Rib in the USA. We never miss coming here on every trip to LA.

We popped here whilst exploring LA, added bonus was the great food and the historic favourite table of a certain Walt Disney. Staff were helpful, even allowing us to spend time looking at the famous table!!

We celebrated Valentine’s Day three days later at The Tam O’Shanter which is always a good place for special occasions due to their consistency. Only down side was the person who took us to our table, she was a bit snooty. The upside our server and the food. My wife and I both had the Prime Rib of Beef Crown Cut hers medium with cream corn, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and mine with cream spinach, mashed potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Both cuts of meat cooked perfectly and yes, a must the whipped cream horseradish and the regular horseradish. One thing I say each time there is their Yorkshire pudding was better than what we had in London. We topped off the evening sharing a chocolate fudge sundae.

Established in 1922, one of the oldest restaurant in Los Angeles with table 31 as Mr. Walt Disney's favorite, this Scottish/English pub is a hidden gem. I would have frequent this place even if the food is not good BUT... the food is great too!!!

Very nice setting. Great for the holidays. The carollers singing Christmas songs was a great touch. Food is very good. Service was okay, nothing to brag about. I would recommend this just for the experience.
Big Wow to An Old Friend
What a delight. Had not been here in over 10 years, seems nothing’s changed. This is a venerable L.A. masterpiece of a steakhouse. Believe it was Lowry’s first. It seems that neither the venue nor the menu have changed much in the 90 years it’s been open. There were 8 of us and we brought our own wines. The food was delicious. Appetizers, sides, entree’s and desserts were all tasty. Not one bummer in the crowd. Standout dishes for me included very fresh shrimp cocktails, twice-baked potatoes, pan-roasted Brussel sprouts, an excellent Caesar salad with extra anchovies, and several great cuts of very prime rib. Service was excellent. Everything worked well and we’ll be back soon.
