Delicious!

Huge portion! I got two pork tacos filled with enough meat to make 4 tacos! It was very good! Know that there is a long line. It's not just at the counter.

Best Bet for Tacos/Burritos Inside Grand Central Market

By NKLW |

I've tried every taco stand within Grand Central, and for some reason I keep coming back to Tacos Tumbras a Tomas whenever I'm craving tacos and burritos. Note that it seems like all the taco spots inside charge the same or similar for tacos etc. What separates this place from others is sheer size and the taste of the meat. Great mild salsa, too. Tacos - A super generous portion of meat and veggies that really could be used for 2-3 tacos. In fact, they provide you with extra tortillas in the case you want to split it up. I love the carne asda, but the al pastor is also very good. Burritos - Standard: Rice, meat, beans, veggies and salsa. Like the tacos, this is a good-sized burrito, and what I order 9 times out of 10.

You Better Be Hungry

By ughdoug4 |

The food here is simply affordable, plentiful and delicious. If you are in downtown LA and looking for a good place to fill up, stop by the Grand Central Market and try this spot. Of course there are many places to choose from, but if you like Mexican food you won't be disappointed going here. I ordered 2 soft tacos. They were $3.50 each and well worth the price. I got 2 HUGE tacos that came with extra tortillas and I was able to make them into 4 large tacos. That was 5 hours ago. I'm still stuffed. Try it you'll like it!

Great food, worth the price.

Food was amazing! Serving portions are plentiful, one of the few places we ate at in LA that was a good deal. Employees are friendly as well. Our favorite spot at the Grand Central Market. Would highly recommend.

Best tacos in the market

By Heather B |

For $3.50 each, the servings are large and so so good. Totally worth the wait, even when it’s the longest line in Grand Central. We tried the steak, snout and goat. Each unique and all perfectly executed. There are several other tacos stands nearby but there’s a good reason for the long line here. Best tacos ever and we will be back!

Massive amounts of good food

By Ahems |

Awesome food, lots and lots of choices! The portions are unbelievable, the combination plate could feed 3 average people!!!!!

Skip Gorditas and stick to tacos

By Maria O |

Tacos Tumbre is located the the Central Market in downtown LA. I ordered the Al Pastor Gordita and it looked huge. I had to ask for some salsa on the side and it seemed like the guy was unhappy that I asked for it. He did give me a small side of salsa. When I sat down to eat the Gordita, the bread used was hard as a rock and it was so tough I couldn’t even bite into it. I ended up just eating the Al Pastor filling with a fork which was delicious. The portion was large and the meat was very filling. I would probably stick to a taco next time.

Accidental lunch!

By Stymiedog |

Took Metro to Los Angeles from Santa Monica and, like typical tourists, got off at the wrong stop. We wandered into a market sort of building and found it full of assorted ethnic food vendors. We decided to try Tacos Tumbras a Tomas and ended up having the best meal of outlet trip. We ordered the chicken combination platter to share. Oh my... not only was it delicious, it was a huge serving. Can't recommend highly enough! This was a fortunate accident!

TACOS!!!

By myorona73 |

Grand Central Market might have been the place that inspired the weekend road trip, but Tacos Tumbras a Tomas was the place that I had to go eat at! It was taco time yall so I made my way over to Tacos Tumbras a Tomas and stood in the line, yea the line was sort of long, but it moves fast. I had heard that these are huge street tacos, but I didn't listen. I ordered 3 (WHAT) carne asada tacos. Each taco was layered with 2 corn tortillas and stuffed to the max with carne asada, then topped with cilantro and onions and then I asked for their hot spicy sauce to be added to it, then they added more warm tortillas to tacos and some limes. THESE ARE HUGE TACOS!! One taco would have been plenty. But OH MY YUM! I was in taco heaven! These are some of the best tasting street tacos I have in a long time, I am still craving them! SO dang good! But was just too much food for me, but I gave what I couldn't eat to those who had nothing. Tacos Tumbras a Tomas are the bomb! If you are in the area, GO GET YOU SOME TACOS! (but only one, because they are huge)

Great authentic mexican food

By Jazmin Nash |

Some of the best tacos we've ever had. Pork was our favorite. Long line but we'll worth it. Can't wait to order again soon.

Excellent food at ridiculous cheap prices

By SingaporeBms |

Seriously delicious Mexican food and prices that are an incredible value in this city. The pork taco is excellent but the beef is equally good.

Great food in the Central Market

By Frank M |

This no nonsense stand in the Grand Central Market (against the south wall in stall A5) is great for a breakfast or lunch mexican fix. I had a grilled chicken quasedia with included salad for $6.50. Amid the growing number of poor to average Chinese food stalls in the Market, this traditional hold out is welcome grub and, deservedly, always has a line of people.

Long line - above average Tacos

By Paul H |

Based on a recommendation we went to Tumbras a Tomas to get Tacos. The line was huge on Sunday afternoon. We waited for 30 minutes and the Tacos were very good but not worth the long wait

Very good for the price

By Marion34M |

Very generous tacos for the price. We had two tacos each and we were set. Chicken and pickled pork tacos were good, we liked the beef one less, too fat. Watch out for the hot sauce, we like it, but it was very strong, stomach and palate sensitive abstain. Quick Service.

Good mexican food at GCM

By lillypi1973 |

Friendly staff and good food prepared right in front of you. I had tacos with carne asada and chicharrones. Excellent cilantro on top.

One of the best al pastor tacos I've had!

By Innerhousewife |

The serving sizes here are LARGE-they give you extra tortillas because one taco is actually 2 servings. Very quick, efficient service. Taco and horchata was $6-can't beat that deal. Many many options, fresh delicious food and friendly workers make this a must try stop!

BEST DANG TACO I HAVE EVER HAD!

By dennisfan |

How is this place ranked so low??? This place has got to be the biggest secret on TripAdvisor! This place is located in Grand Central Market, which is a fantastic open-air market downtown L.A. I think mostly locals patronize it, although, there were so many people, I'm sure we weren't the only tourists. It is mostly a blue-collar crowd, but there were all kinds of people there. Tacos Tumbras a Tomas is only one of many vendors in this market, but they are definitely one of the most popular. The line was long, but moved fairly quickly. When you get up to the counter, the employees are polite, but you feel a little rushed just because of how many people are around you waiting. I don't even remember how many varieties of tacos they had...somewhere between 4 and 8. The typical carne asada; some kind of pork with red sauce, and some other types, but let me tell YOU! GET THE Carnitas Michoacan! Oh-my-gosh. It looks like plain, old shredded pork (and it might be), but the FLAVOR!!! Never had anything so tender, juicy and savory! They serve it with onions and cilantro (if you want) on corn shells and you can add things like avocado and salsa. They also offer rice and beans, although, the beans were kind of soupy. The carne asada was good, but after tasting the Carnitas Michoacan, I didn't want any parts of the carne asada. I bought two tacos, and I honestly had enough meat for 6 tacos. They give you extra shells. I couldn't even pick up the taco to eat it. I had to use the empty shell and serve myself from the main taco. For two tacos w/avocado, rice and beans and a medium tamarindo juice, I paid $9 and some change. Two people could have shared that meal (except the drink). WHAT A DEAL! But the pork taco!!! Man, I'm not even joking...talk about food-gasm. It was really that good. If I am EVER in L.A. again, this place will be one of my first stops. As for seating, this is a market, so seating is random. You have to find a seat wherever you can get one or just stand. There are a few outdoor seats. A few pavilion seats, but the vast majority of people are on their feet moving about, especially if you go during lunch. TRANSPORTATION: If you are staying downtown, and take a taxi to the market, make SURE you have the phone number for a cab to call when you are ready to leave because the taxis downtown L.A. don't really leave the hotels. If you try to wait to hail a taxi, you will be waiting all day. Once we figured out that you have to call the cab to pick you up from locations away from the hotel, we were fine, but this was a hard-learned lesson. Make sure you know the address before you go, so you can be picked up.

Great food served fast

By Creeping_Death_LA |

This food stand has been here a long time and has always served me quality food throughout all those years. There's always a line during the rush hour but this time I was here late before closing and there was no wait at all. The place never disappoints with tasty spicy food and I always leave any change I receive as a tip, its customary.

Good Food

By Stacey M |

We went here and the food was good, really tasty and fresh - the staff were really friendly and I’d go back again

Huge tacos but greasy

By rulldemolins |

Huge tacos. Mexican on a budget. Nice but very greasy, you probably find another nice mexican at the Grand Central Market.

Everything here is good

By FlorecitaDaisy |

One of the best places to eat tacos in LA. The staff is very fast-paced and they make the food in front of you. Always busy, no matter what time of the day it is. Everything I've had from here is delicious. Tacos, Burritos, Tortas, these guys know how to make good, fast, Mexican Food.

Great value!

By Linda C |

For $3.50 I got a huge marinated pork taco and extra tortillas (so I split the meat and had two big tacos). It was very good but I missed having tomatoes and lettuce (hubby had ordered it with everything, so I'm not sure if they're available.) Drinks are $1.50 or $2.50 and a refill is half price. Certainly can't quibble about the value. We ordered at 11:00 am on a Saturday and were third in line. An hour later the line was very long. Very, very nice servers. I researched all the vendors and this is rated the best. If we returned to the market, I'd eat there again and try another meat (they have MANY choices.)

Unreal!!! Have to Go There!!!

By coachee1313 |

Great, inexpensive tacos inside the Grand Central Market. The line was long so that says it all. It did move so however long you wait, it is so worth it. They do take credit cards but there is a surcharge to use one. Best tacos I have had in quite some time.

Great burritos

By Paul K |

Great burritos. Food was wonderful Fantastic atmosphere in the market. Would definitely come again next time we're in LA.

Average tacos

By elnchan2 |

We walked by yesterday and the line up were so long! So we dropped by today as I couldn’t get out of my mind how delicious the tacos looked. The tacos were $3.50 each. We were going to order 3 each as we didn’t know the size. Good thing we asked. Basically one is enough per person. I ordered the chicken tacos and it comes with onions and green mild salsa or hot red salsa. My husband ordered the el pastor- marinated pork. My son ordered the quesadilla with cheese $6 only- you could add vegetables with it. My son loved it and it was a good size. We didn’t enjoy it the tacos as it was the chicken was too dry. Basically it was big chunks of chicken on tortilla sprinkled with onions and cilantro and some hot sauce/salsa. I wouldn’t eat here again. I think maybe the long lineup is due to how cheap it is. Definitely get filled up on $3.50.

Charming Atmosphere

By Christopher D |

Lucia The Server is the Sweetest ! Food was tasty ! The lovely part is that it's 3min away from LAX ! Because now I won't run late for my flights ! Fun place for kids as well because they have Claw machines with teddy bears . Parking seems to be Okay

Awesome pork tacos

By bluesycamore |

I just had the pork tacos here, but it clearly was favorite as I could see the crowd building around this place. Service was quick moving and friendly. Prices were good.

Amazing tacos!

By Roger744 |

I am from San Antonio and these tacos are amazing! You may have to stand in line but it's worth the wait. I am a pretty big guy at 6'2" and 215 and got two tacos and only ate 1/2. This place is in an eclectic part of LA so be prepared. I will definitely be back!

The Best Carnitas Tacos in Los Angeles

By ToddHata |

The biggest and best tacos around. Each taco you order has enough meat to make one or two more tacos, and they give you extra tortillas! If you're a little hungry, just order one, for a nice sized meal, order two. Do NOT order three, I've taken so many people here and they order three even after I tell them not to, and they barely even finish two. I think the Carnitas is the best meat there, but they do have all the standard meats. The only bad thing is that when it's busy you have to get the attention of the guy to take your order, be pushy or you'll get passed by, just like a crowded bar or nightclub.

Carnita heaven!

By cheri b |

Best carnitas ever and we have tried many before since we have a place in Mexico and were born and raised in So Cal. Took some extra carnitas home for the family and they loved it. Buy a pound or two of the meat and go to the middle of the market and pick up a pack of tortillas to bring some home after you enjoy a couple on site (no more two as three is too much food because the portions are so generous)! Prices can’t be beat.

Street tacos similar to El Pollo Loco

By Erica Dozier |

The tacos are inexpensive and the meat has a lot of flavors. I purchased one chicken taco and one pork taco with a coca-cola for nine dollars. However, I didn't like that my tortilla was crumbly and seemed old. I was offered the standard onions and cilantro toppings, but I believe that you can ask for sour cream and avocado. I went right before noon and there was only a small line. (best time to go is around 11:30 a.m. during the weekday, before office workers, take their lunch break. Although the food tasted okay I would not visit this food stall again.

Excellent Value

By William L |

This is a taco vendor in Grand Central Market, a rapidly evolving hot spot for value foodies in downtown LA. There is nothing fancy about the place, but the line to get at their food is the best indicator of its quality. There is a wide range of meat fillings for tacos and burritos. We chose carne asada and al pastor, but for the more adventurous there is pig maw, beef tongue, goat and more. One taco is a full meal once they add the cilantro, onions, and hot sauce with corn tortillas on the side. Authentic taste with no nonsense service and a filling meal in a busy urban space. You eat at tables in a central food court.

Impressive Quality

By Axel M |

This restaurant has a perfect mix of a cozy ambiance and a menu that features a wide variety of tasty dishes. The staff were incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, which made our experience even better.

Mouth watering carnitas tacos!

By Caroline L |

Probably my favorite place in the city for carnitas tacos. One taco is filling as it’s really like 3 tacos so be sure to order with this in mind. There usually is a line but it does go relatively quick. They take cash and cards and are located within the grand central market.

Sunday taco visit

By Soymoosemom |

As soon as we settled at the Omni for our three day stay, my boyfriend and I explored the area and found Grand Central Market. It was packed with Sunday brunch patrons. We walked around trying to figure out what to eat. Hmmm. Must have tacos when in California!! Stood in line which moved really quickly and ordered with al pastor and the carnitas. Came with lime and impossibly hot corn tortillas. So good! So filling!! And a lot of food for two people. Would definitely go back if I could share.

Great tacos great energy

By luvmatel |

There are a few taco stands in Grand Central market but so far this is the best to me. First these guys serving the food have so much energy and are so excited to help you. Idk, maybe the food isn't even that great but you think you are getting something spectacular by the customer service you get. Nah, the tacos were awesome. I only had Carne asada and chicken. Ummm who needs a tortilla for this chicken?! It was so tender and the flavor was great. Luckily they gave me two tortillas and a mound of chicken that was probably about 4 tacos instead of one. The Carne asada was not the best I've ever had but it was definitely good. We'll seasoned. The only downside is they charge extra for credit/debit purchase. It's inconvenient for someone who is visiting the market and buying other things. Also most other places don't charge so people who don't have cash might just skip this taco shop.

The biggest taco yet!

By mizy k |

Not only does this place serve good tacos, they make them so big that you can make three individual tacos out of one! They put in soooo much meat, that it's literally the size of a burrito. The price is very affordable too! A must, if you're in DTLA.

KILLER food!!

By Ahems |

This place RULES! The food is awesome and the portion size is colossal! We ordered a combination plate with carne asada and pollo, it was perfect for the two of us. Highly recommend this LA gem.

Best Al Pastor!

By Ivannia R |

Most flavorful Al Pastor pork I've had in the area. Friendly staff and prices. Quantity of the food is quite large (and well worth it). Amazing variety of dishes.

This was the most tasteless meal I have ever had. Chicken tastes like it was boiled and flavorless. Queso was burnt.

By TravelingWeWillGo |

Worst meal ever. No taste, needed a LOT of salt which wasn’t on the table. I mean this was terrible. Taco Bell would’ve been 100% better. My chicken tasted boiled with no flavor, the queso was burn and thin. No one enjoyed the meal

Fresh Ingredients

By Kyle E |

The flavors in every dish were perfectly balanced, and the ingredients were so fresh and high-quality. The chef's expertise really showed in every bite, making each dish a delightful adventure for our taste buds.

Complete Lunch for a fiver !

By mberlin2015 |

I went to Tacos Tumbras a Tomas several times during my last stay in LA . The food is really nice and fresh. I had taco al pastor, really spicy and you feel you have treated yourself to something healthy. Together with a bottle of water the whole meal put be back 5 $ - Excellent value for a quick meal !

Best Tacos outside of Mexico - and its in LA

By Jacob K |

This is an amazing place for Tacos - with every kind of meat, including vegetarian ones. The portions are huge and prices very low.

Great lunch

By Paul P |

Large very tasty tacos and cabanas . Almost a show watching the preparation and attention to detail. Fresh and plentiful . Totally enjoyed

Unsightly Lengua Gordita

By Marisol |

Ordered the lengua gordita as previously. Total unpleasant surprise when I saw that the lengua had the tastebuds, gross! Failed to clean the meat properly. Supposedly manager refuses to listen to my complaint and made me look to be wrong. I didn't finished my gordita and dumped it in the trash.

*Shrug*

By CubH8tr |

Based on reviews, we were excited to try this counter service at the downtown eclectic food mall area. The long line of people waiting seemed congruent to the favorable reviews. Sadly, we were disappointed. The tacos were bland and frankly, just not memorable. Portions were generous, though. Just a so-so experience.

Taco wonderland!

By ssreddy |

Ever since I visited this place and tried their goat meat tacos, I have not stopped dreaming of them. Hands down, the best tacos I have ever had! The long lines are a clear indicator of the quality of food here!!

I'm picky about my tacos

By texan020 |

I'm from south Texas where there is authentic, and I mean freaking amazing authentic Mexican food. I am spoiled on what I believe a taco should be...so I'm trying to not be too taco snobby, but these got the job done, as in I'm not hungry any more, but they're a far cry from "amazing" or "mind blowing" or "must have."

A line? Who Cares?!

By RobinLovesToTravel |

Although I was warned about the lines, I didn't hesitate when I had the opportunity to try this place I heard about inside the Grand Central Market. The servers were so nice! They piled on the fresh cut, juicy meat and supplied extra tortillas. One would have been enough but who could stop eating?

Delicious Authentic Mexican

By McOskie |

Stopped in Sunday morning and grabbed some tacos. Got the Al Pastor, and the amount you get is tremendous and delicious. So come hungry. Also tried the orange Fresca with it, a large drink to be sure. Really went well with the tacos. The size coke from Mexico also comes on a large size. The combination platter is a good deal if you are really hungry. Grab a seat and take in the ambience of an open market. A fun and busy place. Several of the places, like pasta and ramen open at 11:00 AM. So, plan accordingly.

Authentic meats

By 2BEis2SKI |

Located in Central Market in historic LA which is grittier than DTLA just so you know before heading that way. Much of this part of LA shuts down at 9p and metal doors cover most of the store fronts. Tacos Tumbras had more authentic meat selections than I've seen anywhere else. I got there late and they were out of a few things including lingua but they did have birria (stewed goat meat) and it was fantastic. I didn't love the Al Pastor as much but it was good. Tacos are $5 and I got 3 unwittingly but they stuff them so full of meat that I could only tackle 2. Chip and salsa were really good too. In short, I loved it and will go back when next in LA.

Loved by locals

By Sue D |

Small line well worth the wait. 10 meet choices. We had beef, chicken and pork tacos, beans and rice. The flavor of the meat was authentic to the Flavours of Mexico Huge portion sizes, I recommend just ordering 2 taco. Super fresh, friendly service, great value.

Only authentic Mexican food at the Grand Central Market

By jongry |

I think this is the last original food stand in the Grand Central Market. I've been coming here for over 15 years and happy to see they haven't given in to the vast demand to white wash/hipstorize the Mexican atmosphere of the market. The only thing they had to give in to, is the need to create a line formation to place your order which looses its flea market style and having to push your way to the front and place your order. The food is absolutely delicious with huge portions. 1 taco is filling enough for 1 person. They fill the tacos with so much meat, they give you an extra tortilla and you can make 2 out of one. I hope this place never gives in to the change the Market is making.

Very Good

By RJPlum |

Had two carnitas tacos which were piled high with meat. I couldn't even eat both. Friendly staff and tacos were very good. This is a stand at Grand Central Market so very basic service and seating.

Spectacular Food at low prices!

By metsontheroad |

The title of my review says it all. The food is some of the best (if not THE BEST) Mexican have had anywhere. So flavorful and fresh. Just absolutely delicious. Worth the wait. Not only is the food priced incredibly low, the portions are HUGE! I wish I lived in the LA area so I could eat here regularly. Absolutely a must try if you are in Los Angeles.

Absolutely divine

By Brian |

The food portions here are very generous and the food is absolutely divine. Their presentation of the food makes it look that much more desirable and the taste is much more than you can imagine. With under ten bucks, you can get an amazing meal here. I got a quesadilla, which came topped with so many amazing side ingredients and the flavor of the meat, left me wanting more. I can assure you, if you don't trust anything else, trust these guys here. Their service is quick and kind and I can assure you, you will be very satisfied with the amazing flavors that explode in your mouth. Juicy and tender! Oh I can't wait to eat here again!

Authentic Mexican for so little!

By Phil P |

Whether you eat here or not, visit Grand Central market. It's like a United Nations of food. I went twice with a short list of where I would eat and this place had the longest line by far both times-sold! I asked my server to give me whatever he thought was their best, and ended up with a taco combo with marinated pork and beef plus a few bites of snout and head graciously thrown in at my request for my gastronomic curiosity. All delicious, and more than any human should eat for $11. I'd go back in a heart beat. It beat out the $100 Japanese meal I had the night before!

Delicious classic tacos

By Andrew J |

When first walking into the market you may get handed a corn tortilla with a bit of carnitas in it. If that happens I guarantee you'll immediately settle on Tacos Tumbras a Tomas instead of exploring the rest of the stalls further inside the market. The Tacos are simple; two corn tortillas with a pile of savory Carnitas, Carne Asada, or Lengua. While all are good, the Carnitas is undeniably great. The tacos come with all the usual fixings, limes, onions, salsa, etc.

Selection is Huge! Food is Fantastic!

By BaldAndHappy |

If you love authentic Mexican and want options.... This place has the best asada, al pastor, lengua and the list goes on (including snout). The presentation is simple, but the quality is outstanding. If there is a line, wait! It moves fast. And, make sure the get the salsa on top. The hot is not all that hot, but it is so flavorful!

best...burritos...ever

Good portion tacos at good price

By Hawaiidreamer1 |

Came here for lunch. Grand central market is definitely changing. Ordered a taco so pastor and combination with carnitas. The taco was 5 dollars. Had good flavor. The one taco was basically 2. The combination congress with 2 tacos, rice beans, avocado and extra tortilla. It was 10 dollars. Also flavorful. Didn't finish so will be having for dinner. There's lots more meat options. Will cone back another time to try them. Nice and friendly staff. Also had a horchata for 1.50. Total for lunch 15 dollars. Good affordable food.

The type of food you crave here

By locke869 |

Came upon this after riding down the Angels flight and was more than satisfied. Asked for the chicharron burrito and they even let me try a piece before I ordered it. Some I guess only like it crispy but even in the sauce it tasted good! Got the $12 combo & was given a large fountain drink instead of medium for the same price. Seemed like the place to go as there were a few people in line despite it being closer to the end of the night.

Best taco

By Shane L |

Reminds me of El Fagon in Playa del Carmen. Worth the wait ( longest line in the market ). We had the carnitas. Can’t wait to come back .

The best

By Rob M |

Absolutely the best Mexican food I have ever had, maybe that I will ever have. Plenty to choose from. The staff was awesome and hooks you up with the right stuff if you let them. Price was really good also.

Great food! You had better come hungry. We got the combination platter and even tho we shared it we both went away stuffed.
