Good tasty food

By Leo A |

Found the food very nice. One thing I will say I found my naan bread a bit on the dry side. The curry was excellent though. Reasonable prices for the location in Seattle. The service was excellent. Our server was very charming and friendly.

Hidden gem

Tried their dinner with tandoori and chicken and goat curries. Simply delicious and their Rotis feel home made .. will come back again.

Adjust your opening hours on Google Maps!

By PK Ganapathy |

After a trip to the top of the Space Needle on May 26, 2018 (Memorial Day long weekend - Saturday), we decided to visit Tandoori Hut for lunch, as this was the closest to the Space Needle (about 5 minutes walk). Google Maps said the restaurant would open at noon. When I called the restaurant, there was no answer, which was the first hint that they were not open. Nevertheless, it was close to one, so we decided to walk. Upon reaching the restaurant, we realized it was not open. There was another family who reached there by Uber, as they too had looked on Google Maps. Both the families were upset, and decided to walk to Kastoori Grill which was about ten minutes walking distance and closer to the Pike Place Market. I will post a separate review for Kastoori Grill. Management - please update your working hours on all the standard websites!

Great food

Food and service were excellent. We took our leftovers home and had them the following night. Conveniently located and not too busy.

Excellent Indian restaurant convenient to Pier 66 and Space Needle

By sunfl0werbmw |

We dined at Tandoori Hut almost weekly over the past year, while staying in Seattle for business. This restaurant is a hidden gem, within walking distance of both Pier 66 and the Space Needle. The restaurant is a small family-run establishment and most welcoming to its guests, whether they are single diners, couples, or larger groups Our menu favorites were vegetable pakora, tika masala, and naan breads, but we sampled numerous offerings and found all to be delicious. They also serve wine and beer. We highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Very Accommodating and Great Food!

By Mitzi C |

The older lady was so nice! She is part of the family. We started with the potato and crab cake - very good! The saag chicken was great, as as the naan. The chicken tiki masala and the tandoori chicken were perfect! The prices are very reasonable! Our grandchildren loved it.

Stale food, quality and tate way below par

By NoJunk69 |

We went for lunch buffet. Most food items were stale. Tandoori chicken, Nan, sag paneer, the cut up fruit all were several days old. They probably used the stale cooked check to make chicken curry. I felt the meat was on the verge of going bad. The rest of the food was below par for taste or quality.

delicious food & good music

The food was great, served quickly and the staff was friendly and attentive. We had Dal Makhani, Pakora, and garlic naan all of which was tasty and reasonably priced.

Hidden Local Gem

Within walking distance of our hotel. We were able to eat dinner when all the restaurants around the corner were full. Very good Indian food. I would like to try the lunch buffet.

Very friendly and good

By Amber A |

They are tucked away but a really nice quiet restaurant, and always concerned about how you are enjoying their food. They are also kid friendly.

Great food, wonderful service

By tinfeld13 |

My husband and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a lovely meal of lamb curry, chicken coconut curry, garlic nan and some 5000 premium beer. The service was wonderful, and the food was perfect. Great blend of spice and flavor.

Not bad, would come back

By milady587 |

Nice quiet place close to one of my places of business, so convenient. Looks clean, although not very large. They have a lunch buffet a bit on the pricey side. I had a solo dinner, lamb Korma with rice and an order of plain naan. Dinner was fine although the lamb was a little tough. But the sauce was pretty good and the naan was likewise. I rarely eat much of the rice preferring to consume the dish a la mexicana (sopping up all the sauce with a naan as if it were a tortilla) but what I had was good. Would return. Its conveniently located and the experience was positive on the whole.

Fine Dining Away from the Madding Crowd

By rexpig |

There is a touch of the French to this establishment: it's on a dark street, far from the downtown bustle, reachable by a long walk from there and you might be driven to thinking that they do not want your patronage. The apron-clad waiter moves slowly as if in shock and waves you to a table when you reply in the affirmative to his greeting "Dining in?" There is no hint from the street of the soft lighting, red tablecloths and shining glassware and promise of fine food. And the owner is the chef. Food is prepared fresh; the appetizer is still hot, the sliced peppers and garnish freshly cut, the samosas crisp-fried and the chickpeas over them just the right degree al dente. The main course takes twenty more minutes to arrive but it too is hot and freshly prepared, the sauteed tomatoes and onions in the gravy still crunchy and the chicken melting in your mouth. Expect to spend a good ninety minutes and no more than what you would pay downtown, for an excellent dining experience. The after-dinner walk back to your hotel is a bonus to aid your digestion. Come here to get away from the pop-in-and-pop-out ways of the restaurants in the touristy places.

Great luncheon buffet during the week!!

By CM_G279 |

We stopped in after seeing the Pompeii exhibit at the Seattle center, having discovered it on our walk back toward downtown. Clearly a family run (owned) place, they were so friendly, even offering and setting up a table for us in the small outside seating area. The lovely woman working the cash register facilitated that, and then even brought us a fresh rose for the table!! I am selective in terms of Indian food, but really enjoyed the butter chicken and rice, the tandoori chicken and of course the naan. Also lovely was the selection of fresh fruit and salad. Hubby loved the lentils and the vegetable samosas, which I tried, but were a tad spicy for me. Would totally eat there again!! 😊

Extremely friendly, family-run place for delicious Indian food

By Cyclone05 |

This is a cozy little place with tasty food and a very friendly staff. It is very clearly family-run, since our waiter was the owners' son. That kind of connection makes for a pretty cool dining experience. My brother asked the waiter for a recommendation on what to order, and we were told all about how the Chicken Karahi (I think) was his grandmother's recipe, and all the ways it differed from what you might get at another Indian restaurant. No doubt many of the dishes were from family recipes, but knowing that one was the family's specialty and went back generations really gave the dining experience a bit more meaning. Of course, we ordered the Chicken Karahi, and a selection of other dishes for the table to share. We were a group of 5, including a toddler on the verge of fussiness, so I appreciated how accommodating they were. Our food was able to run a pretty broad range of spiciness so our daughter was able to find stuff that she could eat and my brother could burn off his taste buds at the same time. ;) I don't have a lot of experience at what necessarily makes "good" or authentic Indian food, but I thought everything tasted delicious. Factor in the incredibly friendly folks who work here and it's a great place to eat.

Best Indian food and service we’ve had, ever!!

By Red P |

We absolutely loved the food - super fresh, tasty, and wonderful presentation- and the service at Tandoori hut. You can tell it’s a family-run business, as everyone puts pride and heart into serving the customers. Best Indian food and service we’ve had, ever!!

Great find!!

The lunch buffet was great. There were many options and all of them were good. My husband and I and our 3 kids all loved it here. The staff was super friendly! Highly recommend!!

Neighborhood dining with the locals.

By febeach2018 |

Dine inside or al fresco. Locally owned, casual, warm and friendly and really, good, well priced food. Good location for downtown. We walked from the Tidewater Hotel. I had crab cakes, an appetizer, as my entrée. Very good and more food than I needed! Others in the party enjoyed their orders as well.

Great Indian - Close to Hyatt Place and Space Needle

By JeremyL428 |

My wife and I ate here in August of 2015. The experience was great. The service was excellent. Promptly seated and promptly served drinks. Water was consistently refilled. The Indian - Chicken Curry and Tandoori - was top notch. As good as anything we've had in other cities. The location is perfect for folks staying in the South Lake Union area or visiting the Space Needle. We were staying at the Hyatt Place downtown and it was a short 5-10 minute walk.

They deliver! (And the lunch buffet is a great deal)

By cy-kona |

I had their food twice. First time was last September 2012 - I arrived in Seattle & checked into the Hotel 5 in Belltown at 8:30. It was too dark to walk to a restaurant - so I ordered by phone and ask for delivery. The order had to be over $35 (but I had to buy food for my trip to La Push near Olympic Natl.Park - so I would kept the extra food in a icechest). After I called - they delivered in 20 minutes. I had Naam bread, Samosa, Butter Chicken and Chicken Biriyani. I ate the Naam & Samosa that night - and kept the Butter Chicken & the Biriyani for latter. It was all good. I learned to love Butter Chicken that trip. Last month in August 2013- I returned to Seattle. I wanted to try the $8.95 lunch buffet. It was a great deal for for the variety they had in their buffet. I now love Goat Curry. Con: the only negative was that there was no air conditioning. And it was a hot day in August.

Good Indian Option Family Style

By TSinParis |

Very good Indian cuisine managed by a very ice family. I had a very good vegetable korma and asked for medium spice - but I think the Seattle spice chart is quite different form the one in India - my korma could have had a bit more kick. I had a nice talk with the mother. I'll go back next time I am in town and try another dish.

Good Indian food, close to Space Needle

By YatriForever |

This place is only about 5-6 minutes walk from the parking area of the Space Needle. We had a long day touring Seattle and we wrapped up the day with Space Needle visit. So, Tandoori Hut was a perfect place to wind down. The food was good. We had paneer items and that was tasty and was close to authentic/traditional Indian preparation. Recommended.

Unconventional way to serve a large group

By Arthur K |

This one was a bit hard to rate. We came here with a group of 25 for dinner. They were able to accommodate us pretty well. They took our order table by table though and we had like 6 tables. The server then disappeared for a while and the food would come out like 10 minutes later. Then, she took the next table's order. I felt it wasn't very effective and we had 2 tables completely done with dinner before the 4th table even got to order. Overall, the food was solid so it's hard to complain too much, but it really gave it a very disjointed feel to our group dinner.

lovely neighborhood restaurant

BF is a big fan of indian food and he's a vegetarian...the food taste great and the service was good, just around the corner from our hotel is a plus too

All you can eat naan for lunch, yum!

By Jeff11382014 |

They do a buffet lunch that is fantastic. My favorite thing is to get lots of naan and dip it in lots of curry, so the all you can eat lunch is perfect for me. There are several different kinds of curry and naan as well as a few other dishes. There are also options for salad and fruit. It's not a giant selection but what is there is wonderful. I did go for dinner once as well. The selection is much larger as you order off of a menu. However, in my opinion, you don't need that variety when the best options are offered on the buffet.

Best damn Indian, Nepalese, & Tibetan food ever

By Dave K |

My family and I needed to eat and wanted Indian food. I was worried about getting overpriced poor quality food near Seattle's pikes place market. I checked the ratings and decided it was worth the gamble. We loved every bite. We had 2 Indian dishes and one Nepalese dish. 1st, this was the best butter chicken 10/10 I've ever eaten. PERIOD!!! My wife agreed. The tandoori chicken is their house special and it was a 9.8 out of 10. The mismas Nepalese dish was something we've never tried. It was a 10+/10 rating. Please go here. It was the highlight meal of our 2 week trip. Thanks

Good Indian cuisine

By lellis19 |

A small family owned Indian restaurant near the Seattle Center. The menu was extensive and the service was very good. The food was plentiful and reasonably priced by Seattle standards. The owner came out and spoke with most of the customers and the waiter was very helpful is helping us to make choices from the menu. It was a pleasurable evening. The Nan was outstanding.

Authentic Indian Cuisine with Mom and Pop (and Son)

By cgarcia815 |

Eating at Tandoori Hut in Downtown Seattle is like having dinner at your Indian friend's house. The family establishment serves deliciously prepared Indian dishes in a congenial atmosphere. Quantities are substantial and quality is excellent. Let's talk bread: the naan is warm and pillowy and papadum spicy and crispy. Sauces (tamarind, coriander and spicy tomato) were all tasty. Chicken Tikka was very tender and flavorful with tandoori spices. Masala was delectable and the basmati rice was perfect and plentiful. We had a cardamom infused rice pudding for dessert, which was just right to end a lovely meal.

The best place for Indian food in Seattle

By Srinivas P |

I visited on 20th Aug and 24th Aug. this is the best place to have Indian food among many I had a review across the city. I had biriyani which was just tasting like what we have in Bangalore. Finally this restaurant is the one helped us in feeling home town food

Lucky Little Find Not Too Far From Needle

By Marc P |

Dal, Simosa, Naan, Chicken Tika Masala. All Fresh, mildly spiced. Nice family restaurant waiting for people to come back.

good buffet

By Sr S |

It was drizzling and chilly outside and the hot food was a treat. There were many vegetarian options in the buffet. On that day, the options included samosa, pakora, basmati rice, naan, paneer mutter masala, potato-eggplant masala, veg stir fry, dhal makhani. The desserts included rice pudding and mango custard. The hosts were kind and gentle and that adds to the environment. The $8.95 (+tax) buffet price is a steal.

They advertise on the American

By Mark The Shark |

They advertise on the American Express website as a “shop local” business. When I went in they told me no American Express, only cash/debit card. So I went to leave, then all of a sudden they could take it but rudely told me never to bring that card again. The saag was sub par, and the butter chicken was mostly rice and no actual chicken and even the rice was dry. Never again.

Excellent North Indian Cuisine

By Bill07450 |

I visited Tandoori Hut for the first time earlier this evening. The restaurant was empty (which might be 'normal', given it was a Monday night. I was warmly greeted by one of the family members that appear to run this restaurant, who suggested that I try the Chicken Karahi. I also ordered the chicken pakora as an appetizer and the kabuli naan. I'm not from India, but the spicing of the dishes appeared to be more bold and flavorful than one usually encounters at an Indian restaurant in the U.S. Another family member appeared to be in the kitchen and clearly was expert in his craft. I also loved the kabuli naan, which I had never had before. All of this left me wondering - why is this place so empty? It was probably because of the day of the week and Covid, but I felt lucky to have discovered this place. You probably will feel the same way too - so go, visit and have some really good Indian cuisine. I'll be back.

Best North Indian food in Seattle

By Shawn T |

So on Sunday we saw the Space Needle, EMP and PSC. We were really tired and hungry so I did a quick search of Indian restaurants around Space Needle and the first pop up was Tandoori Hut. We arrived early but the restaurant owner decided to invited us in and even offered to cook for us. The food was amazing, a pure north Indian style. But believe me the way they cooked is same as you get in India. I've been eating Indian food everywhere in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond etc. The Egg Biryani and Chicken do Pyega was simply the best.

Great food close to Space Needle

By s k |

We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was busy. It's a small place and with about 15 people seated, it looked full. I am not sure if they were short on staff that day or if its always like that but it took a while for them to take our order. They also turned away some people. We almost considered walking out but I am glad we stayed. The food was really good. The Samosa Chat and all of our other dishes were amazing and the server was very friendly even though he seemed to be the only server on the floor. I hope they hire more staff because this place has a lot of potential.
